Native Language And American Culture
I was born and raised in America, my native language is English, I love rock music and American
food; people often think I am white because of the way I look and act. However, my ethnicity is
Hispanic American. My parents were born and raised in El Salvador, I have only been there
once when I was younger and I remember it like it was yesterday. I was hit with a bit of culture
shock because there were things I was not used to. As a kid, my Spanish was not that great so
being in a country where everyone speaks perfect Spanish and little to no English was difficult.
If we wanted to ride the bus it would not come to a full stop instead you would have to hop on
while someone helped you up. People often walked around with huge guns for protection and
every restaurant, even the fast food places, had a doorman with a gun. I was only there for two
weeks and the first few days I showed a bit of ethnocentrism because I was not used to those kind
of things. In America the majority speak English, guns are usually illegal, and busses usually
stop for you to get on so experiencing all these new things all at once was a bit overwhelming.
But, after getting used to it I expressed cultural relativism and accepted it and even thought it was
cool. In El Salvador being American makes you the minority group, but in America it is the
opposite. Some Americans create these stereotypes about Hispanics saying that we are all lazy, are
criminals, or only work blue collar jobs. I have had people

Essay about A Killer Profit
The uncertainty of where the burden of responsibility begins and ends within the consumer and
manufacturer relationship has continued to fuel many moral controversies. In a free enterprise
system, where government regulation is limited, it is critical to examine this issue as billions of
transactions are occurring daily and in some extreme cases become deadly. An instance of this can
be illustrated in the Ford ExplorerRollover lawsuit. Although there have been several theories to
explain this complex relationship, the Due Care theory is the most superior. I will begin by
analysing the Ford Explorer case with the Due Care theory and identify where the manufacturers
violated their duties. I will than explain why manufacturers... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In each of these areas, according to the due care view, the manufacturer, in virtue of a greater
knowledge, has a duty to take whatever steps are necessary to ensure the product leaves the plant
as safe as possible, and the consumer has a right to such an assurance(180).
Recently, Ford Motors has been under scrutiny for their poor production of the Ford Explorer.
Because of their disregard from 1991 to 1999, 1142 people have died and thousands more have
been injured. Convicted of negligence by a Federal Court Lawsuit, Ford knowingly produced and
continued to reproduce an automobile with several safety defects. During the design, production
and informative stages Ford did not take the necessary precautions a reasonable person could have
foreseen in order to prevent harm to their consumers.
First of all, when designing a product Due Care theory states that the product s manufacturer
should ascertain if the product conceals any dangers, whether it incorporates all feasible safety
devices, and whether it uses materials that are adequate for the propose it is intended to serve
(181). Ford failed to comply with all aspects of the Due Care manufacturing process. For instance,
despite negative consumer reports and poor safety ratings with the Ford Bronco the Ford Explorer
was designed with the same handling and stability defects. The

Essay on Factors that Helped Stalin in his Rise to Power
Factors that Helped Stalin in his Rise to Power Following the death of Lenin in 1922, it was
simply a matter of time before one member of the Politburo, who announced they would be acting
as a collective leadership, gained individual power. The successful individual was Stalin, who
hailing from humble beginnings, rose up through the ranks to become the brutal and ruthless
dictator of the Soviet State. Stalin managed to do this not simply because of his personal strengths
or brilliances, neither was it purely down to luck. It was due to a combination of factors, some
concerning Stalin s actions and his opportunist ways, some to do with his opponents such as
Trotsky and their fundamental weaknesses,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The post of Commissar for Nationalities gave Stalin little power, but it was the first step in his
rise up through the ranks. Lenin remained impressed by Stalin s work and continued to promote
him further. By 1919 he was the Liaison officer between the Politburo and Orgburo, allowing him
to monitor both party policy and party personnel. It was here that Stalin first showed signs of
taking advantage of the opportunities his positions gave him. He began to build up personal files
on all party members, detailing their actions which he later used against people such as Kamenev
and Zinoviev in the fight for individual power. This showed how even though Stalin may not have
been planning his rise to power, he still took clever, devious steps along the way which assisted him
without realising it was at the time. However, before his death, the amount of power Stalin had
accumulated began to worry Lenin, who had once described him as That wonderful Georgian . He
expressed his concern in his Testament, requesting that after his death, the members of the politburo
must find some way to remove Stalin of this position into one with much less power. Stalin, worried
by the damning comments within the testament, urged the other members of the Politburo, also
criticised to suppress the Testament. The only

The Importance Of The Voting Process In The United States
According to a CNN article of November 2016, about 55% of voting age citizens cast ballots this
year (Wallace). In other words, it means that only one voting age citizen out of two vote at the last
general presidential election. Abraham Lincoln described democracy as the Government of the
people, by the people, for the people. How can the people express it s legitimate power if
absenteeism is the rule?
In our Public Service Announcement, we are going to inform people about the voting process and
invite them to vote. We would like to emphasize the importance of the electionprocess by showing
to the public that it is the expression of their political power. Furthermore, we want to explain that
voting is more a citizen act than a political one that can affect everyone of us. Of course, we re not
going to talk about any opinions or political parties, but we want to focus on the voting process in
the U.S. and the importance a vote.
Normative/mainstream perspective: According to Brookshire (2016) in Science News for
Students, there are four main reasons why people choose not to vote. These reasons are the
registration process, lack of higher education, the two party system, and voter apathy (Brookshire,
2016) and unclear voting restrictions. First, the registration process takes a bit of work here in
America. In most other countries, voter registration comes automatically with citizenship, however
here we have to fill out paperwork prior to the actual act of voting

A Child s Development On The Early Childhood Classroom Essay
It is clear that play is an intricate part of a child s development. Nearly every milestone a child
accomplishes between the ages of 6 months to 5 years of age, play is how the interpret what they
see and hear, and incorporate everyday adult activities in to imaginative play, to mold and shape the
characters of their personalities. Like Vygotsky theory, Children are practicing what they have
learned in other settings or are constructing new knowledge, it is clear that playhas a valuable role
in the early childhoodclassroom.
Olivia turned four years old, on September 29, 2012. She is a very intelligent and precocious child,
who does want to be the center of attention, but also knows when she has done something wrong.
She is not an only child. She has a brother, Kevin, but it she was unclear in when asked if she had
siblings. When asked if she had any brothers or sisters, she said, Yes, but they are my cousins. It
was not until Ms. Liz, the teacher, who overheard my asking Oliva if she had siblings, chime in
and say, You have a brother Olivia, what about Kevin? Oh, yeah I have Kevin as a brother,
Olivia replied. She gave me the impression that because I was not asking about her, she was not
interested in talking about her brother. Olivia said that she lives with her Mommy and Daddy, and
that she always sees her Aunts and cousins. This led me to believe that her family is close, and
involved with one another. Olivia is a very attention seeking child, and likes to be

The Current System Of Education
Imagine a world without the abilities to feed or drink, count, or speak. Imagine a world without the
knowledge of health and wellness, problem solving, or the ability to interact with one another.
Education is important to know yourself and the world around us, prepares us for what the future
holds, and teaches us the skills we need in order to survive. But what is an educationwithout the
right methods of teaching? Without the motivation and encouragement? Without the funds to
increase help for students? I believe that the current system of education fails to prepare our
children for the future. We live in a country where equality of educational opportunities is deficient,
test taking defines students standards and replaced the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Billions of billions of dollars. For data that is too late to use, says Canada. The test results would
unquestionably benefit students if they were at least received before that school year had started,
therefore students can determine the specific problem solving and skills they need to work on in
order to be successful that year. Regular testing, being the trusted method that defines a student s
success, is also found unreliable. Today s schools fail, the Caines explain, because they
concentrate only on memorization instead of building on the multiple and complex powers of the
human brain (Boggs, 141). Stuck in the world of biased and opinionated point of views and class
topics, we forget about the world of creativity where we can expand and explore on our own
thoughts, opinions, and ideas. Schools are seeking knowledge of basic ideas, including identifying
main idea or what the author is trying to persuade in their text, while avoiding teaching meaningful
lessons that will actually be useful and benefit students.
It is up to the students to work hard on assignments and study for tests with a positive class attitude,
however the teacher s techniques applied in the classroom play a role in student s success and
improvement. ...Testing has become more frequent and more punitive, forcing teachers to teach to
a sterile and often meaningless test, suppressing the creativity of committed teachers

2.Why do you want to participate in this global health trip? What are your goals, both personally
and for the two week trip as well as after the trip?

What do you think will be your greatest challenge?
On this trip, I anticipate communicating with people of a different culture may be a challenge.
Although I do not speak Brazilian Portuguese, I know that we will have a bilingual interpreter
with us as well as NJMS students who speak both languages and thus, I know that the language
barrier will not be a big challenge. More than the language, I want to be contentious on this trip
regarding acknowledging my privileges and that I need to understand the Brazilian approach to
medicine in the context of their culture as well as the resources available to them. Furthermore, I
understand that I have limited knowledge and skills as a first year medical student and so can only
provide basic medical services at this time. Therefore, I am most apprehensive about effectively
understanding and communicating with the Brazilian community and recognizing that currently I
am only able to provide a limited amount of aid to these communities.
4.How do you plan on financially supporting this endeavor? (Are you willing to fundraise as a
team, as well as apply to the available scholarships?)
I fully intend to apply to any available scholarships in order to fund this trip. I am also looking
forward to working with other students going on this trip in order to organize fundraisers such as
bake sales and raffles. I also intend to start a GoFundMe page as well as seek out local businesses

The Boundary Of The Yakama Nation Reservation
Problems
The boundary of the Yakama Nation Reservation is considered home to different culturally diverse
populations. Parenting skills and teaching can vary dramatically from each of those unique
households. The diverse populations come with varying levels of what is considered appropriate
child rearing practices. Child abuse intakes are increasing due to families from Mexico coming
here to the US and the standards are different (Ruiz, 2015). Pilar Ruiz is a Social Worker at
Children s Administration assigned to the Child Protective Services. Families migrate to the area
and they carry different perspectives on parenting and may not understand the expectations of
Washington State and Child Abuse Laws. It is not only migrant families that need additional
support. Families that have been here for many years have traditional practices that may cross the
line when it comes to child abuse and neglect. These families that are located in this area need the
additional support of increasing family bonds, healthy parenting, life skills, bonding, and reducing
violence and substance abuse.
Macro Personal Reality
Establishing positive parenting skills within the community will assist the parents in gaining new
alternatives to their current practices. Often we get the same families that are repeat offenders or
they never really learn their ways of parenting are not acceptable (Ruiz, 2015). Providing the Strong
Families curriculum will reduce the number of children that are

The Song Of The Md Poem Analysis
Throughout history, people of different backgrounds have perceived the act of going to war
differently, and it was often reflected in literature in the form of poetry. Some poets, such as
Richard Lovelace and Alfred Lord Tennyson, glorified and honored sacrifice; in contrast, others
like Mary Borden and Wilfred Owen, condemned war and viewed it as a waste of life. The two
poetrycollections, while both discuss the effect of going to war, have very distinct central themes.
The difference can be depicted mainly through each poet s tone and diction, in addition to sound
elements and the point of view. While each element contributes to engaging and/or persuading the
reader, an analysis of those elements, and research on the history of each era, must be done in
order to properly define the motives and purpose of each work of literature.

In The Song of the Mud, Borden uses ironic diction in descriptive lines, such as: The pale yellow
glistening mud that covers the hills like satin While the focus of the poem is exposing the mud as
an active player in the Battle of the Somme, in addition to being the disguise of the war zone, most
lines throughout the poem compare the obvious appearance of the mud to the impertinent,
intrusive, ubiquitous...obscene, filthy, putrid effect it has on the machines, corpses, and most
importantly the soldiers. Similarly, in Dulce et Decorum Est, Owen uses realism to illustrate the
dreadful experience of being forced to fight in war, highlighting the vicious effect of the gas on a
comrade in a dream sequence: Obscene as cancer, bitter as the cud / Of vile, incurable sores on
innocent tongues. The tone deduced from these lines is repugnant and blaming. Finally, Owen
resolves to accusing war of being wasteful, stating that dying for one s country is not sweet or
honorable: The old Lie: Dulce et decorum est / Pro patria

Basic
1.a.The value of the call is the stock price minus the present value of the exercise price, so:
C0 = $60 [$45/1.055] = $17.35
The intrinsic value is the amount by which the stock price exceeds the exercise price of the call, so
the intrinsic value is $15.
b.The value of the call is the stock price minus the present value of the exercise price, so:
C0 = $60 [$35/1.055] = $26.82
The intrinsic value is the amount by which the stock price exceeds the exercise price of the call, so
the intrinsic value is $25.
c.The value of the put option is $0 since there is no possibility that the put will finish in the money.
The intrinsic value is also $0.
2.a.The calls are out of the money. The intrinsic value of the calls is $0.
b.The puts are in the money. The intrinsic value of the puts is $2.
c.The Mar call and the Oct put are mispriced. The call is mispriced because it is selling for less
than its intrinsic value. If the option expired today, the arbitrage strategy would be to buy the
call for $2.80, exercise it and pay $80 for a share of stock, and sell the stock for $83. A riskless
profit of $0.20 results. The October put is mispriced because it sells for less than the July put. To
take advantage of this, sell the July put for $3.90

How Does Huxley s Characters Reflect The Value Of Being Human
Lauren Wadas
Ms. Petersen, AP Lit
2017
Exile in a Brave New World, As Expressed by Brave New World
Having been a somewhat of an outsider in his life, physically and mentally, Aldous Huxley used
what others thought as his oddities to create complex works. His large stature and creative
individuality is expressed in the characters of his novel, Brave New World. In crafting such
characters as Lenina, John, Linda, Bernard, and Helmholtz, not to mention the entire world he
created in the text itself, Huxley incorporated some of his humanities into those of his characters.
Contrastly, he removed the same humanities from the society as a whole to seem perfect. This,
the essence and value of being human, is the great meaning of Brave New World. The presence
and lack of human nature in the novel exemplifies the words of literary theorist Edward Said:
Exile is strangely compelling to think about but terrible to experience. It is the unhealable rift
forced between a human being and a native place, between the self and its true home: its essential
sadness can never be surmounted. Huxley s characters reflect the rift in their jarred reaction to new
environments and lifestyles, as well as the remnant of individuality various characters maintain in a
brave new world.
As humans, we are granted experiences that both enrich and alienate us; bits of our lives are taken
from us but others are added to make us whole. Though, sometimes, we are taken from the bits of
our lives, and have to

Abortion Is Terminating A Fetus Before The Baby
Abortion is terminating a fetus before the baby is capable of living. Currently, there is a debate

The Federal Government should not still fund Planned Parenthood abortions, so the individuals
can pay for it on their own. People don t want their tax dollars to be spent on abortions not
everyone is pro choice nor a pro life either. Tax dollars could be spent on other needs for our

The abortion procedures would be changed to increase the likelihood of a successfully obtaining
a specific fetal tissue for resale. It is currently not clear the amount being made after selling.
There are four clinics guilty and put under investigation by the U.S. Department of Justice. In an
article by Micaiah Bilger Chilling Evidence Shows Planned Parenthood Selling Body Parts:
How s the Pancreas Forecast Today? The list shows that the following organs such as the hearts,
brains, kidneys, tongues, ears, and lungs are being taken out of fetuses and sold for profit for
the individual seller. This is an example of some of the organs trying to be sold. It sounds like it
just cars parts being sold for more profit. I don t view human life in that way. The human life is so
valuable and precious to want to sell any organs.
Also another procedure performed at the clinics is called partial birth abortions. The definition
of a partial birth abortion is a procedure of a living baby, whom is feet first and all except for the
head. Then, the head is punctured and the clinic removes the baby s brain. Finally, the skull
collapses and a dead baby would be delivered. An Article titled Facts of Partial Birth Abortions

Free Will In Sophocles Antigone
Sophocles Antigone is based on the idea of fate and the conflict if free will exists or not. While
Sophocles agrees that free will exists to a certain degree, morality plays a role in determining how
much fate can be changed. Unlike modern day American culture, which emphasizes individual
freedom of choices, the Ancient Greeks thought that life was predetermined by the Gods will and
laws. In Antigone, Sophoclesuses the theme of a tragedy, to emphasize the limitations of human
knowledge and wisdom, and the cultural conflict of state laws and religion to show how much
religion played a part in everyday life and culture. In Ancient Greece, suicide was considered a
controversial issue as it represented a problem in free will. Sophocles represented... Show more

According to Beauvoir, while the moralists are enamored with eternal principles, (1), and believe
in God and his sovereign, the realists who boasts in vain about his effective methods and the
useful results achieved (1) are practicalists. While moralists are preoccupied about how their
actions influence the future and afterlife, the realists are concerned with the present. The
conflict between moralists and realists, as a result, has always existed with neither side being
able to convince the other of the validity of its values each side is imprisoned its own value
system in the name of which it rejects the values of its adversary (1). In modern day society, the
perception of morality has shifted into what we known consider ethics. Unlike morality, which
is defined by God and the Bible, however, ethics is defined by people s perceptions of values and
principles. Society, as a result, evolved from one in which values and principles are defined by a
preset based on a supernatural being God and the Bible to a rational one in which people can
influence and control. Because people define what good or bad, man is capable of influencing
how their actions play a role to their future, or fate, emphasizing the idea of free will. Thus, reality
and ethics are subject to human decisions and is always dynamic;

Tetrachloroethylene Research Paper
First of all, tetrachloroethylene is a nonflammable colourless liquid which goes by with the formula
C2Cl4. Tetrachloroethylene is a reaction between two elements: chlorine (Cl) and carbon (C). This
reaction raises a lot of concerns since it is mainly used for dry cleaning fabrics and metal degreasing
operations. Firstly, the exposure to tetrachloroethylene has many negative effects on the health of
humans and the environment. Effects that develop from severe (short term) high level intake
exposure of humans include the irritation of the upper respiratory tract and eyes, kidney
dysfunction, and many neurological effects such as behavioral changes, impairment of

Lawrence River due to the absorption of oxygen by the water. Tetrachloroethylene is sometimes
found in tap water across the country which can easily contaminate those who are exposed to it.
Due to this problem, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has set an 8 hour
time weighted average permissible exposure to those working in dry cleaning facilities and
metalworking industries to avoid high concentrations of tetrachloroethylene. Unfortunately,
tetrachloroethylene can quickly be released in the air and in the water when not disposed properly.
This is why the Canadian Environmental Protection Act (CEPA) have made a list that identify
substances which may be harmful to the environment and to human health. Chemicals who are
considered toxic can then be used to develop guidelines on the manufacture, use, storage, transport,
and ultimate disposal. Finally, to avoid the risk of exposure to tetrachloroethylene, studies have
shown that those who have concerns about the presence of tetrachloroethylene in tap water should
drink bottled water or contact local drinking water authorities to avoid the risk of being exposed to

Porphyria s Lover And Neutral Tones
The loss of a loved one is perhaps the most difficult experience that humans ever come up
against. The poem Porphyria s Lover, written by Robert Browning, adds a sense of irony to this.
At the most superficial layer, the speaker s in both Porphyria s Lover and Neutral Tones, written
by Thomas hardy, both deal with loss. The tones in Neutral Tones seem to be indifferent, or
Neutral. Porphyria s Lover speaker ends up murdering his beloved at the end the poem. While this
isn t the case with the speakerin Neutral Tones, the two speakers are much more similar than we
might think. The speaker in Neutral Tones doesn t outright murder his lover, but there is a
considerable amount of disdain and contempt towards his supposed lover. The speaker in
Porphyria s Lover is quite obviously a disturbed man, the sinister nature of the speaker in Neutral
Tones, however, is not as clear. Delving further into this idea, I will also discuss other obscure
parallels throughout the two poems. To start off with, the two speakers both have incredibly
negative and destructive ways of viewing the world. The speaker of Neutral Tones views the world
as though it is devoid of life and glee. He makes references throughout the poem that suggest this.
And the sunwas white, as though chidden of God (2) is a perfect instance of how the speaker in
Neutral Tones views the world. The sunis usually the source of all light and warmth in the world.
The speaker does not see the sun in this way. Since he sees the

The Importance Of Clinical Audit
The aim of the Nursing and midwifery council is to regulate nurses and midwives in England,
Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.(Nursing and Midwifery Council, 2016). The NMC is set to
protect the public and to represent and campaign on behalf of nurses and midwives. (Nursing and
Midwifery Council, 2016). Furthermore the NMC regulates healthcare setting and
hospitals, regulates healthcare assistants and also set staffing level to ensure high quality of care the
first time round for service users.(Nursing and Midwifery Council, 2016).
Clinical Audit was introduced to the NHS in 1993. The 1997 White Paper The New NHS
reinforced the position of Clinical Audit as an essential element of professional practice in the health
service.(Dartford and Gravesham NHS trust, 2017).Clinical audit is a way to find out if
healthcare is being provided in line with standards and care providers and patients know where
their service is doing well, and where there could be improvements.Clinical audits play a part in
implementing clinical standards, clinical guidelines and evidence based medicines. The NHS
England however defines clinical audit as a way to find out if healthcare is being provided in
line with standards and let s care providers and patients know where their service is doing well,
and where there could be improvements. (NHS England, 2016) The aim of clinical audit is to
allow quality improvement to take place where it will be most helpful and will improve outcomes

Analysis of The Wrong Trousers
The Wrong Trousers is a Clay Animation Production (where all characters are made out of clay).
Created by Nick Park (a famous Animator) in 1993, The Wrong Trousers stars Wallace and Gromit
in their second animated adventure (they were first introduced to British Viewers in 1990 in
another Nick Park production A Grand Day Out .) In this particular adventure we see how bad

Also I think that comedy can be found due to the naГЇvetГ© of Wallace, for example his shock

offensive to any cultural or ethnical groups. This means that both adults and children can enjoy The
Wrong Trousers as they can all take in something different from the film.
It is said that mans best friend is his Dog, and that leads me to a greatly influential character in the
Wallace and Gromitseries, this of course being Gromit, the dog. I believe that his personification
has been cleverly done as it is not completely conspicuous, by this I mean that whilst Gromit is
granted Human qualities (such as the ability to read), his lack of a voice means that we do not
recognise him as a human, therefore leaving him with his canine status. Therefore, essentially
Gromit is a human yet isn t, he drinks tea, reads newspapers and even has his own dog specific

The fireplace chimney is usually preferred because the horizontal smoke shelf is a convenient

The History Of Han China
Though the people of Islamic belief are scattered throughout China, the greatest concentration of
Muslims reside in the autonomous region of Xinjiang. This region is distinctly non Han in its
ethnic composition, since the Uyghurs account for nearly 75 percent of its population; the cultural
makeup of this region is comprised of Turkic language and beliefs in Islam (Clarke and Hayes 3).
However, the influx and growth of the Han Chinesepopulation in Xinjianghas created a language
barrier in which the Uyghurs have become the regional minority. In the past, the Uyghurs have been
continuously oppressed and silenced by their rulers. Even today, the Uyghur are subject to unfair

After the revolution, the CCP attempted to reconcile by introducing policies allowing ethnic and
religious expression. This allowed Uyghur scholars to express their versions of history and culture,
which was not always consistent with Chinese rhetoric.
Unfortunately, China is taking steps back on their allowance of Islamic and Uyghur language
expression in Xinjiang. In March 2017, China banned burqas and abnormal beards in Xinjiang
claiming the action as a crackdown on religious extremism (Dearden, China bans... ). In July
2017, China went back on their allowance of Uyghur language in schools by banning its use in
Xinjiang (Staff, RFA. China Bans... ). In September 2017, the Chinese police ordered Muslims to
hand in copies of the Koran and prayer mats (Heffron, Chinese police... ). All of these efforts have
been claimed to regulate and reduce extremism.
One of the distinguishing characteristics between the Uyghurs and Han is the language, a
difference that can be detrimental for Uyghurs looking for success within the dominating Han
society. While the Han use Mandarin, the Uyghurs use a Turkic derivative that is significantly
divergent. The Uyghurs believe that their language is central to their ethnic identity and refuse to
allow it to be forgotten beneath the pressure of Mandarin use. However, it is difficult for

Co. Whitewater Brewing, as its name sounds, is a manufacturer of alcoholic refreshments, selling
its brands to various consumers. The article in particular focuses upon a specific Whitewater

Ralph Jenkins, CEO of Whitewater, writes to Mary Davis to express the company s views on
her behavior and to ask her to first clear all further comments (regarding her personal views on
liquor production) with the business. Mary feels this to be an invasion of her right to free
speech. Additionally Mary informs Ralph Jenkins that she seeks to pursue her article further
and even speak at an engagement about her views (personal ones). Mr. Jenkins remains adamant
that Mary adhere to his requests further escalating things to state she can either comply or
resign. So does Davis have a moral right to free speech in the workplace, or can Whitewater
determine the extent to her free speech? Also what would Davis s best path ethical path be? The
second is the easiest to answer so I will do that now. Davis could simply put resign, enabling her
to champion her beliefs and become a martyr for her cause, as it were. As for the first question
the answer is not a simple clear cut one, and ultimately will be an individual one. Currently there
is already legal precedent that allows companies to require employees not to act or speak
disloyally . Take the following case: In Korb v. Raytheon, 574 N.E.2d 370, 410 Mass. 581 (1991),
Raytheon terminated Lawrence Korb after receiving complaints of his public involvement in an
anti nuclear proliferation nonprofit known as the

Ethanol and Gas Prices Essays
Ethanol and Gas Prices
Do the gas prices frustrate you every time you pull up to the pump? Gas companies are charging
too much for the natural resource that is turned into what we know as gasoline. Gas companies
discourage research and new ideas every year. Afraid of losing the market that they have cornered
they buy patents. This way the patents will never be used and they still have the market cornered.
Ethanol is a much safer and more economical solution to our gas problem. It is cleaner burning

Ethanol is produced with the help of farmers. It comes from the common cash crop called corn.
These crops are grown throughout the United States and mainly in the Midwest. They can be
produced every year and hauled straight to the local plant. Using ethanol would help these
struggling farmers. The corn prices have been down for some time and the economic help from
using ethanol would be astronomical. Farmers would haul more corn each year because of the
demand that the ethanol plant brings. The demand for grain created by ethanol production
increases net farm income more than $12 billion annually (ethanol info). In the future the
demand for ethanol would be greater which would produce a larger farm income each year.
Ethanol could help the farmers more than anything else. The raise in income would be dramatic
because the use of ethanol today is only minimal and it produces $12 billion in income each
year. The more ethanol used the more the annual income it will produce. This would cause the
corn price to go up and more farmers would be able to stay in business. There would be no more
struggles with foreign nations to get better oil prices. The money that is spent on the imports of
oils from other countries will not be needed as much and hopefully in the future will not be needed
at all. This new and safe energy producer known as ethanol could be produced and manufactured in
the United States. Today, ethanol reduces the demand for gasoline

Examples Of Heroism In The Great Gatsby
Tragic heroes are characterized by authors through the use of specific characteristics and traits
associated with the definition of a tragic hero. A tragic hero is defined as a great or virtuous
character who has a tragic flaw that eventually leads to their downfall, which they face with dignity

Jay Gatsbyis portrayed as a modern tragic herowho is responsible for his own downfall, however

Fitzgerald conveys the message that morality is of little importance to many people, especially
in terms of obtaining status and wealth. Gatsby was highly motivated on planning to escape his
life in North Dakota. He was resentful of his shiftless and unsuccessful (p9) parents and never
really accepted them as his parents at all (p9). His desire to escape poverty and limits of his
upbringing ends when he encounters Dan Cody who teaches his the skills in which he uses in
the bootlegging business. This is the moment where he changes his legal name, James Gatz, to
Jay Gatsby, allowing him to leave behind his past of poverty and transition into the life of new
money . With this job, Gatsby is suddenly given the opportunity to attain his goal in the quickest
and easiest way despite it being illegal. His decision to participate in this illegal trade displays his
desire to reach his dream of Daisy. Not only does this disregard morals, once he attains his
wealth he chose to have an affair with Daisy despite her being married to Tom Buchannan. This
shows his willingness to forsake his morals in order to acquire Daisy s love which equates to
money. The lemons and oranges brought into Gatsby s house are symbolic of the moral depletion
at the parties where they begin fresh and somewhat innocent, ending in the disregard of morals as
acts such as drunkenness was performed.

The Positive And Negative Implications Of Social...
The positive and negative implications of social networking sites. Introduction Social
networking sites have become a big part of our lives. These sites are indeed twofold, and their
impact on society is both positive and negative. My essay will, therefore try to answer both
sides of the impact social networking sites have in today s culture. A website article by (Shruti
Tripathi Chopra 2015) stated that in 2008 Facebook made and estimated $300 million, that rose
to a profit in 2014 of $2.9. The positive implications of social networking sites have no
boundaries. Communication between people in the past was, either over the phone or via letter,
just to mention a few. (Pewinternet.org 2005) published that just 7% of American adults used
social networking sites, and then rising to 65% by 2015. As a result, in this growth and
popularity, jobs have been created to meet the demands of social networking sites. It was surely
inevitable, that the growth and impact of social networking sites would influence how most of us
live our lives today. A great way to share your recent photographs, ideas, general chat or just keep
in contact with loved ones who live far away, is through the social networking sites. This being a
very positive side, it has all but demolished the barriers that prevented loved ones from frequent
contact. Many, if not all academic institutes have embraced these sites, and they use them to inform
the public of current happening at their institute. This in many ways

Americans rid themselves of this American individualism. He wanted to rise above the western

Today s Competitive Postal Service
Running Head: Today s Competitive Postal Service2 The United States Postal Service began
operations in 1971 following the passing of the Postal Reorganization Act of 1970. In the decades
that have followed, the Postal Service has tried to remain relevant in a competitive business
environment. In order to be successful at this, a revamping of the agency was necessary in order
to keep up with advances in technology used by business and individuals, and to address an overall
change in the public attitude regarding old fashioned mail services. This transformation of the
Postal Service has been successful because of progressive management and effective leadership.
Management and leadership are not the same thing, however they are interrelated and
complementary. Shafritz, Russell and Borick (2010, pp. 361 362) state, Leadership is the exercise
of authority, whether formal or informal in directing and coordinating the work of others.
Management involves power (usually formal authority) ...with the power of management comes
responsibility and accountability for the use of organizational resources. In order be transformed,
the Postal Service needed to implement new management ideas combined with the pioneering
concepts of new leadership. The power and authority to implement new ideas and provide
innovative leadership is held by the 11 member Board of Governors of the Postal Service.
According to The United States Postal Servicewebsite, As

diagram shows the architecture of the software by determining the classes used in the system.

The Inn Research Paper
The Inn in the Fall As visitors approach one of the most beautiful inns in North Carolina they
will be serenaded by the rhythmic thumping of the tires as they cross each cobblestone. The inn
is like a massive wall of rocks that looks to be touching the blue sky. The red tile roof looks like a
red cloud sitting atop this castle of rocks. These rocks were placed over one hundred years ago
and still stand in their exact spot. From the parking area you can almost imagine the horse drawn
wagons that had worked so hard to pull these massive boulders up to this very spot. You can see
all the hard work that had went into clearing this mountain side for the inn to begin construction in
the year 1912. If you listen very close you can just hear its... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Laugh and smile at the simple pleasures that excites these little ones. Make your way down another
short hallway until you get to the Great Hall it sure lives up to that name. It is one hundred and
twenty feet long and eighty feet wide this room is large enough for the Statue of Liberty to lay in
it from her feet to her head, minus the torch. On each end of this room are fourteen foot fireplaces,
large enough for adults to stand in and capable of burning twelve foot logs. The ceilings are twenty
four feet high. Two Christmas trees will be decked to the max every ornament will have been
placed with care, clear lights will glisten each one and there will be a perfect bow atop to finish
each one off. Sit for a while in the rocking chairs that are over flowing in this room and just listen
to the all the comments being made around about this magnificent inn. Christmas wreaths will be
throughout the hall, even the old Model T car that sits in the corner of the main entrance will be
embellished with a wreath on the front grill and its own bright red bows. The chandeliers all have
Christmas green holly and bright red bows to garnish each one. They go to great pains to make
sure every detail is perfect and it shows. The Sunset Terrace is another spot not to miss, even
though it was probably given this name due to the fact the inn is built on the hillside of Sunset
Mountain, you can picture how

However, my ethnicity is Hispanic American. My parents were born and raised in El Salvador, I have only been there once when I was younger and I remember it like it was yesterday. I was hit with a bit of culture shock because there were things I was not used to. As a kid, my Spanish was not that great so being in a country where everyone speaks perfect Spanish and little to no English was difficult. If we wanted to ride the bus it would not come to a full stop instead you would have to hop on while someone helped you up. People often walked around with huge guns for protection and every restaurant, even the fast food places, had a doorman with a gun. I was only there for two weeks and the first few days I showed a bit of ethnocentrism because I was not used to those kind of things. In America the majority speak English, guns are usually illegal, and busses usually stop for you to get on so experiencing all these new things all at once was a bit overwhelming. But, after getting used to it I expressed cultural relativism and accepted it and even thought it was cool. In El Salvador being American makes you the minority group, but in America it is the opposite. Some Americans create these stereotypes about Hispanics saying that we are all lazy, are criminals, or only work blue collar jobs. I have had people ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essay about A Killer Profit The uncertainty of where the burden of responsibility begins and ends within the consumer and manufacturer relationship has continued to fuel many moral controversies. In a free enterprise system, where government regulation is limited, it is critical to examine this issue as billions of transactions are occurring daily and in some extreme cases become deadly. An instance of this can be illustrated in the Ford ExplorerRollover lawsuit. Although there have been several theories to explain this complex relationship, the Due Care theory is the most superior. In each of these areas, according to the due care view, the manufacturer, in virtue of a greater knowledge, has a duty to take whatever steps are necessary to ensure the product leaves the plant as safe as possible, and the consumer has a right to such an assurance(180). Recently, Ford Motors has been under scrutiny for their poor production of the Ford Explorer. Because of their disregard from 1991 to 1999, 1142 people have died and thousands more have been injured. Convicted of negligence by a Federal Court Lawsuit, Ford knowingly produced and continued to reproduce an automobile with several safety defects. During the design, production and informative stages Ford did not take the necessary precautions a reasonable person could have foreseen in order to prevent harm to their consumers. First of all, when designing a product Due Care theory states that the product s manufacturer should ascertain if the product conceals any dangers, whether it incorporates all feasible safety devices, and whether it uses materials that are adequate for the propose it is intended to serve (181). Ford failed to comply with all aspects of the Due Care manufacturing process. Essay on Factors that Helped Stalin in his Rise to Power Factors that Helped Stalin in his Rise to Power Following the death of Lenin in 1922, it was simply a matter of time before one member of the Politburo, who announced they would be acting as a collective leadership, gained individual power. The successful individual was Stalin, who hailing from humble beginnings, rose up through the ranks to become the brutal and ruthless dictator of the Soviet State. Stalin managed to do this not simply because of his personal strengths or brilliances, neither was it purely down to luck. It was due to a combination of factors, some concerning Stalin s actions and his opportunist ways, some to do with his opponents such as Trotsky and their fundamental weaknesses,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The post of Commissar for Nationalities gave Stalin little power, but it was the first step in his rise up through the ranks. Lenin remained impressed by Stalin s work and continued to promote him further. By 1919 he was the Liaison officer between the Politburo and Orgburo, allowing him to monitor both party policy and party personnel. It was here that Stalin first showed signs of taking advantage of the opportunities his positions gave him. He began to build up personal files on all party members, detailing their actions which he later used against people such as Kamenev and Zinoviev in the fight for individual power. This showed how even though Stalin may not have been planning his rise to power, he still took clever, devious steps along the way which assisted him without realising it was at the time. However, before his death, the amount of power Stalin had accumulated began to worry Lenin, who had once described him as That wonderful Georgian . He expressed his concern in his Testament, requesting that after his death, the members of the politburo must find some way to remove Stalin of this position into one with much less power. Stalin, worried by the damning comments within the testament, urged the other members of the Politburo, also criticised to suppress the Testament. The only ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Some poets, such as Richard Lovelace and Alfred Lord Tennyson, glorified and honored sacrifice; in contrast, others like Mary Borden and Wilfred Owen, condemned war and viewed it as a waste of life. The two poetrycollections, while both discuss the effect of going to war, have very distinct central themes. The difference can be depicted mainly through each poet s tone and diction, in addition to sound elements and the point of view. How Does Huxley s Characters Reflect The Value Of Being Human Lauren Wadas Ms. Petersen, AP Lit 2017 Exile in a Brave New World, As Expressed by Brave New World Having been a somewhat of an outsider in his life, physically and mentally, Aldous Huxley used what others thought as his oddities to create complex works. His large stature and creative individuality is expressed in the characters of his novel, Brave New World. In crafting such characters as Lenina, John, Linda, Bernard, and Helmholtz, not to mention the entire world he created in the text itself, Huxley incorporated some of his humanities into those of his characters. Contrastly, he removed the same humanities from the society as a whole to seem perfect. This, the essence and value of being human, is the great meaning of Brave New World. The presence and lack of human nature in the novel exemplifies the words of literary theorist Edward Said: Exile is strangely compelling to think about but terrible to experience. It is the unhealable rift forced between a human being and a native place, between the self and its true home: its essential sadness can never be surmounted. Huxley s characters reflect the rift in their jarred reaction to new environments and lifestyles, as well as the remnant of individuality various characters maintain in a brave new world. The conflict between moralists and realists, as a result, has always existed with neither side being able to convince the other of the validity of its values each side is imprisoned its own value system in the name of which it rejects the values of its adversary (1). In modern day society, the perception of morality has shifted into what we known consider ethics. Unlike morality, which is defined by God and the Bible, however, ethics is defined by people s perceptions of values and principles. Society, as a result, evolved from one in which values and principles are defined by a preset based on a supernatural being God and the Bible to a rational one in which people can influence and control. Because people define what good or bad, man is capable of influencing how their actions play a role to their future, or fate, emphasizing the idea of free will. Thus, reality and ethics are subject to human decisions and is always dynamic; ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 24. Tetrachloroethylene Research Paper First of all, tetrachloroethylene is a nonflammable colourless liquid which goes by with the formula C2Cl4. Tetrachloroethylene is a reaction between two elements: chlorine (Cl) and carbon (C). This reaction raises a lot of concerns since it is mainly used for dry cleaning fabrics and metal degreasing operations. Firstly, the exposure to tetrachloroethylene has many negative effects on the health of humans and the environment. Effects that develop from severe (short term) high level intake exposure of humans include the irritation of the upper respiratory tract and eyes, kidney dysfunction, and many neurological effects such as behavioral changes, impairment of coordination, dizziness, headaches, sleepiness as well as unconsciousness. Due to this problem, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has set an 8 hour time weighted average permissible exposure to those working in dry cleaning facilities and metalworking industries to avoid high concentrations of tetrachloroethylene. Unfortunately, tetrachloroethylene can quickly be released in the air and in the water when not disposed properly. This is why the Canadian Environmental Protection Act (CEPA) have made a list that identify substances which may be harmful to the environment and to human health. Chemicals who are considered toxic can then be used to develop guidelines on the manufacture, use, storage, transport, and ultimate disposal. Finally, to avoid the risk of exposure to tetrachloroethylene, studies have shown that those who have concerns about the presence of tetrachloroethylene in tap water should drink bottled water or contact local drinking water authorities to avoid the risk of being exposed to ... • 25. Porphyria s Lover And Neutral Tones The loss of a loved one is perhaps the most difficult experience that humans ever come up against. The poem Porphyria s Lover, written by Robert Browning, adds a sense of irony to this. At the most superficial layer, the speaker s in both Porphyria s Lover and Neutral Tones, written by Thomas hardy, both deal with loss. The tones in Neutral Tones seem to be indifferent, or Neutral. Porphyria s Lover speaker ends up murdering his beloved at the end the poem. While this isn t the case with the speakerin Neutral Tones, the two speakers are much more similar than we might think. The speaker in Neutral Tones doesn t outright murder his lover, but there is a considerable amount of disdain and contempt towards his supposed lover. The speaker in Porphyria s Lover is quite obviously a disturbed man, the sinister nature of the speaker in Neutral Tones, however, is not as clear. Delving further into this idea, I will also discuss other obscure parallels throughout the two poems. To start off with, the two speakers both have incredibly negative and destructive ways of viewing the world. The speaker of Neutral Tones views the world as though it is devoid of life and glee. He makes references throughout the poem that suggest this. And the sunwas white, as though chidden of God (2) is a perfect instance of how the speaker in Neutral Tones views the world. The sunis usually the source of all light and warmth in the world. The speaker does not see the sun in this way. Since he sees the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A website article by (Shruti Tripathi Chopra 2015) stated that in 2008 Facebook made and estimated $300 million, that rose to a profit in 2014 of $2.9. For Object oriented development, UML is approved as a standard for modeling. According to software engineering, Unified Modeling Language is a language but not a methodology. UML is a graphical language which includes a set of charts and diagrams for depicting programming frameworks. The key aim of UML is to design and document the software or the system. The UML has evolved in the mid of 1990 s with the combination of thee competitive approaches of Object Oriented methodologies, which were formulated by Grady Booch, ... Use case diagram is the representation of the interaction between the customer or the user with the system or product. Class diagram shows the architecture of the software by determining the classes used in the system. Activity diagrams are the pictorial notation of the steps which are followed in developing the system. Collaboration diagram shows the interaction between the objects and classes of the system. Sequence diagram defines the steps involved in the project and in which order they should occur. State chart diagrams are typically used to define the properties of the software. Object diagram is alike to the class diagram, which concentrates on the attributes and classes of the product. Component diagram shows how small chunks of components are combined unitedly to form a bigger component of the product. Deployment diagram depicts how the system should deploy and where the deployment should be done. But the three diagrams Object, Component and Deployment diagrams are not included in the research conducted by the OMG group, as they are not used frequently and to keep the research at a lower level. The Inn Research Paper The Inn in the Fall As visitors approach one of the most beautiful inns in North Carolina they will be serenaded by the rhythmic thumping of the tires as they cross each cobblestone. From the parking area you can almost imagine the horse drawn wagons that had worked so hard to pull these massive boulders up to this very spot. You can see all the hard work that had went into clearing this mountain side for the inn to begin construction in the year 1912. If you listen very close you can just hear its... On each end of this room are fourteen foot fireplaces, large enough for adults to stand in and capable of burning twelve foot logs. The ceilings are twenty four feet high. Two Christmas trees will be decked to the max every ornament will have been placed with care, clear lights will glisten each one and there will be a perfect bow atop to finish each one off. Sit for a while in the rocking chairs that are over flowing in this room and just listen to the all the comments being made around about this magnificent inn. Christmas wreaths will be throughout the hall, even the old Model T car that sits in the corner of the main entrance will be embellished with a wreath on the front grill and its own bright red bows. The chandeliers all have Christmas green holly and bright red bows to garnish each one. They go to great pains to make sure every detail is perfect and it shows. The Sunset Terrace is another spot not to miss, even though it was probably given this name due to the fact the inn is built on the hillside of Sunset Mountain, you can picture how ...
