Education And Student Education
Through my schooling so far, I have learned and read about education and student culture to put
together a general philosophy about what I believe as a teacher. Beginning the middle level
education program, my philosophy has evolved and strengthened based on the uniqueness of
young adolescent needs. I believe that every child can learn and deserves equal opportunity in the
classroom. I believe that young adolescents deserve a curriculum that accommodates whatever
need they may have. I believe that every child deserves a teacher who will advocate for them
academically and socially. This philosophy will continue to evolve as I continue my journey
through the program.
Young adolescents between the ages of 10 and 15 are going through numerous personal changes in
types of development. They are at all different stages, so a classroom can vary greatly between
individuals. Thinking patterns often change in middle school. Students begin to start relating things
to their world and lives at a deeper level. Young adolescents face problems such as violence, body
image, health, and drugs. In a school where there is so much the students are being exposed to, it
has been found that it is difficult for them to make healthy decisions that benefit them.
As mentioned previously, young adolescents are at different stages of diverse types of
development. Intellectual development is the young adolescent s reasoning and judgement based
on growth from experience. Many adolescents are in

Evolution And Development Of Operation Management
Introduction
People can say that operations management has existed since man start to produced goods and
services to meet their needs and necessities. Although, the origin of operations may be come from
ancient civilizations, their major evolution in history is practically refers to the last 250 years.
Therefore, the story is presented in accordance with the most important contributions or primitive
impulses and not strictly chronological terms. There are several important areas that have
contributed to the evolution and development of operation management.
One of the key factor and influence on history of this development is the industrial revolution. In
the eighteenth century in England there it occurred a development called Industrial Revolution.
This development comprised two main aspects: the widespread substitution of human, animal and
water power machines; it originates a second aspect that was the establishment of the factory
system. The steam engine invented by James Watt in 1764, provided the necessary mechanical
power to factories, others parallel events as the creation and concentration of workers at the
factories. This development gave workers and factories a need to organize for a more logical,
faster and efficient completion of tasks (Qureshi, 2015).
The Industrial Revolution spread to England and other European nations and the United States.
This was more accelerated in the late eighteenth century with the development of the petrol engine

Left Ventricular Assist Devices Essay
Introduction
Left Ventricular Assist Devices (LVADs) have increased durability and patient survival on the
people who live with heart failure. These devices are mechanical pumps which can work as a
bridge to transplantation or as destination therapy to help the heart to follow its tasks properly.
Asgari and Bonde [1] presented a new totally implantable physiologic left ventricular assist device
system in pulsatile and continuous modes using wireless networks. The authors [1] have proposed
a great contribution to use wireless powering, monitor, communication and control in the field of
implantable control of ventricular assist devices. However, many issues will appear in the result of
the proposed system which needs more investigations in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To investigate the feasibility and implantability of the proposed methodology, the authors tested
physiologic controller in two large female pigs in vivo experiments. The results showed that the
suggested controller (UMC Physio), consumes less power compared with the HeartMate II (axial
pump) controller and HeartWare (centrifugal pump) ventricular assist device controller.
Critique
The system presented wireless network for monitor, communication, control and powering of the
left ventricular assist device systems which is a novel and significant research for LVADs
implantation [1]. However, if there are not internet access and wireless network (via smartphone) at
the same time due to malfunction in antenna or network, limitation in range and other issues, the
proposed system will fail to monitor and control the LVAD in patients, and therefore it will result in
dangerous conditions or death.
Wireless connections have harmful effects on the health of people and especially on blood, the heart,
and the autonomic nervous system when the radiation is continuous and long term [2]. Therefore, it
is recommended to reduce electrosmog exposure and prevent wireless networks for communication,
monitor, control and powering of the LVADs.
Although the main aim of the research published by Asgari and Bonde was to propose a wireless
method for LVAD systems, it is not acceptable that the author did not compare proposed controller
with the other famous methods such as preload based

Examples Of Betty Neuman Systems Model
Betty Neuman s Systems Model It is important to allow theory to guide nursing practice. Nursing
theory can be applied as an influence to help solve nursing practice issues by facilitating
reflection, reexamination and critical thinking about the effectiveness of the nursing process.
The Neuman Systems Model (NSM) is a distinct, systems based perspective that provides a
unifying focus for approaching a wide range of nursing concerns (Neuman, 2005). The purpose
of this paper is to discuss the NSM and the relevance of the conceptual model in nursing practice
for the role of the family nurse practitioner (FNP) in diverse populations. Betty Neuman s
Systems Model Overview The Neuman Systems Model (NSM) was formulated to assist in the
coordination of patient care activities to be completely centered on the patient s wholeness and
well being (Neuman and Reed, 2007). The NSM is a simple in depth approach to explain the
concepts of stressors and how they inspire well being. Neuman (1972) states this model extends
beyond the illness model and includes the concepts of problem finding, prevention, and the newer
behavior science concepts and environmental approaches to wellness (p. 265). The model is still
used in current practice under the same context. This model currently is being used to guide the
curricula of baccalaureate and master s nursing programs in numerous schools of nursing
worldwide (Neuman, 1996). This model is also being used as a guide for nursing homes and

The Gangster Genre of Films Essays
The Godfather is the most revolutionary gangster film of all time, it rewrote the gangster genre in
such a stylized way that all latter gangster films have conformed to this genre but also evolved it as
films have progressed.
Directed by Francis Ford Coppola The Godfather re invented the gangster genre elevating it to a
Hollywood status and making it commercially profitable. It looks into the life of the Corleone
family and represents America at that point in time. It portrays the violence and power, corruption
and justice, honour and obligation apparent at that time.
Previous to The Godfather s release the American Dream was born, to idealists America was the

All gangster movies have been judged by the standards of this one, it has a very strong script that is
well plotted, although at times difficult to understand.
Two other gangster directors are Quentin Tarantino, famous for many films but Pulp Fiction stands
out, and Guy Ritchie, the writer of Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels . and Snatch . Both of
these writers have been influenced by The Godfather , its stereotypes, plots and gangster families,
and although both writers have both influenced the genre in their separate ways, neither of them
have made quite the impact that The Godfather did. However, Pulp Fiction adopted a large cult
status, it became increasingly popular and became a Hollywood blockbuster, it did in its own re
invent the gangster genre regarding the association of humour and the subversion of the original
Godfather genre.
Tarantino made Pulp Fiction in 1994 and it was regarded as innovative and different, he plays
around with the timeline of the three inter connecting storylines that leaves you dazed and
confused, but strangely satisfied. Tarantino manages this by introducing the protagonist of each
story in the previous story, either as a minor character or a stock character.
This gives you the impression that you have

For more than 25 years, an army of mostly child soldiers, some barely able to hold guns, led by a
man named Joseph Kony have been massacring and kidnapping civilians throughout Uganda. This
conflict has since spread out of Uganda to the north and west into other regions such as the
Democratic Republic of Congo and areas of southern Sudan. The conflict also affects other key
areas of central Africa as Kony and his Lord s Resistance Armyhas killed thousands and displacing
millions of Africa natives. Despite several attempts at meetings in addition to arrest warrants from
the International Criminal Court against Kony and his troops, Kony has refused to cooperate and

Museveni was a former member of the UPC, in the south. In 1985, a northern Acholi General Tito
Okello overthrew Milton Obote, hen second term president and ethnic Langi,in a fight between
Acholi and Langi soldiers in Kampala, central Uganda. (S3 371) This again characterizes the power
struggle and conflict between two opposite actors once again over power. After the fight, the Acholi
retreated and regrouped in the north. After taking Kampala, Ugandans and Acholi s established Tito
Okello as the new President. Okello then was pressured by the people into entering negotiations
with southern rebel groups, namely the National Resistance Army (NRA) led by UPM leader
Yoweri Museveni. After a failed cease fire and attempt to establish control over his troops, Milton
Obote was overthrown in early 1986 by Yoweri Museveni. (S3 371) Museveni s army, the National
Resistance Army (NRA) immediately began conducting revenge attacks and massacres against the
Acholi s, causing many to flee to Sudan. (S1 142) The attacks from Museveni, a southern Ugandan,
in mid 1986, forced many northern Ugandans to have heightened concern that Museveni s forces
would attempt possible retaliation against Obote during a time when an insurgency against
Museveni s army began in some of the traditional Acholi areas of northern Uganda. The retaliation
against Obote was believed to be against his brutality during his reign. (S2) Acholi

Analysis Of Magnificent Seven
For the Final Project this project will be focus on the movie The Magnificent Seven. This movie is a
compelling movie that show a group of bound hunters caring more about the job more than the
money. Some of the characters in the movie went through internet conflict that led them to change
throughout the movie. In Magnificent Seven we can see many example of binary oppositionand
position throughout the plot of the movie. The villain Bogue want to seize control of the town of
Rose Creek to dig for gold in the mines. Emma Cullen and some of the townsfolks turn to bound
hunters to protect them from the tyranny of Bugue and his gang. The movie director of
Magnificent Seven use political agendas in the plot and through the characters because he wants to
reveal how the indulgence of money can cause people to be corrupt and to others people money
can be less important than life. By trying to reveal this truth the director used the Marxist Literary
Theoryand the Postcolonial Theory to hope change society outlook on money. In Magnificent
Seven some of the character is empowered and disempowered to the plot social orders. The
bound hunter s political orders made them empowered because protecting the people of Rose
Creek was more important to them at the end. The job became more valuable than the money.
Some of the bound hunter s risk and sacrifice their life s to protect the people of Rose Creek
town from the epic battle at the end. The main bound hunter Sam Chisolm can be describe as a
round and dynamic character. When Sam Chisolm recruit the gang of bound hunters they were
about the reward money for protecting the townsfolks. At the end of the movie their point of view
changes a lot. Bogus can be describe as a static and flat character. Bogue is the main protagonist in
the movie. Bogue doesn t change in the movie because his main intention is to take control over
the town, so he can get richer. These character trails for Bogue disempowered him in the movie
plot. When Bogue was killed in the church the toward the end is symbol, which mean House of
Judgement for all his sins. Bogue burn down the church to lower the townsfolk morally in the
beginning of the movie.

Analyzing The Efficacy Of Cyclical. Electrical Stimulation...
E wiki 1 This article, published in the journal of physiotherapy examines the efficacy of cyclical
electrical stimulation through a meta analysis of data extracted from 16 articles. The aim of using
cyclical electrical stimulation is to increase the number of motor units and/or cross sectional area
of muscle activated during movement to increase strength (Nascimento et al. 2014). The article is
highly relevant to the physiotherapy field, ultimately looking to improve the quality of treatment
available to patients. The Introduction is well written and clearly outlines the research questions
in focus, thus giving context to further explore ideas. The research methods used in this article
were of high standard, using several refinement processes to ensure data used was valid. For
instance, Physiotherapy Evidence Database scores (score from 0 to 10) ensured the use of quality
papers (Nascimento et al. 2014). The results section is split into various subheadings which was
difficult to follow at times. However, all data is summarised sufficiently with reasoning provided
and referenced. The article effectively provides evidence that cyclical electrical stimulation can
increase strength, however due to there being limited studies available, two of the research
questions were unanswered stating there are insufficient data to provide evidence (Nascimento et
al. 2014, p. 29). Outlining the need for further research. The discussion summarises all of the data in

The Airlines And The Airline Industry
The airline industry has been around for years, it has suffered its ups and downs due to attacks
such as the one that occurred in September 11, and even most recent as the Paris attack that
occurred this past year. Major Airlines have suffered a decline in their profitability which has
forced many airlines to file for bankruptcy. However, when bad times hit an industry some
companies are forced to quit, while others are forced to change their strategy and continue moving
forward.
In the airline industry, we have two major industries classified as the traditional airlines and the
budget airlines. Traditional airlines have vertically integrated services and purchase their aircrafts
directly from their manufacturer. On the other hand, budget airlines lease their aircrafts in order to
source their fleet and provide cheaper flights. These cheap flights are supported by the subsidiaries
in the secondary airports they flight in and out of.
Secondary airports are a great way for budget airlines to provide a faster turnaround due to the
fewer flights that go in and out of these secondary airports. With budget Airlines there is also no in
flight service, the low cost the customer pays includes nothing but the flight itself. There is limited
aircrew, which is responsible for cleaning the aircrafts and tickets are strictly sold online. Their
advertising money is spent mostly in advertising heavily on popular social media sites.
Whether a customer decides to flight on a budget airline

influence our learners to become entrepreneurs? The government of Botswana has been over the
years working tirelessly in trying to curb unemployment more especially among the youth, as well
as motivating them to venture into different kinds of businesses as a way encouraging
entrepreneurship and trying to diversify the country s economy which is highly reliant on diamond
exports. This includes among other things, coming up with initiatives such as the Youth
Development Fund (YDF) which exists to fund youth businesses to help fight unemployment and
poverty. One of the programs of late is the Economic Stimulus Package (ESP) which aims at up
skilling and up scaling unemployed youth among one of its many mandates. Again, there is the
Citizen Entrepreneurship Development Agency (CEDA) which aims at providing financial and
technical assistance to citizens to develop their businesses (CEDA, 2016). Not only does CEDA
offer financial assistance to developing businesses but also to already existing ones. What is more,
it also offers training, mentorship and advisory services to new entrepreneurs as well as those that
have been in the industry for a while. It is however worrisome how some of the youth businesses

Philosophy Of John Stuart Mill

Intro to Philosophy
John Stuart Mill
Actions are right in proportion as they tend to promote happiness; wrong as they tend to produce
the reverse of happiness. By happiness is intended pleasure and the absence of pain. J.S.M
John Stuart Mill, the eldest son of Benthamite economist James Mill, was held to rigorous
educational standards. At age three he learned Greek and then Latin at age eight. Growing up, Mill
was extremely intelligent but also very emotionally depressed. He had nervous breakdown that
then forced him to rethink what he had been taught and had been teaching, and often said that
poetry was the way out of his depression. Mill was a strong believer in freedom, especially that of
speech and of thought. He spent most of his life at East India Company, from 1826 to the year 1857
for which he had the same position his father held the chief examiner, which put him in charge of
guiding company policies in India. In his 20s, Mill felt the influence of historicism, social thoughts
of the French nature, and Romanticism; as well as urbanization and industrialization. This led him
to look for a new philosophy that wouldn t be so harsh on the limits that shaped society by
imposing on its culture and history, but instead would emphasize humanity s cultivation. After his
retirement and the death of his wife, he was elected into a seat in Parliament and took part in three
momentous occasions. The first generated movement

article on Pinterest Expert Author Sandy Klocinski The main concept of the Atkins diet plan is
that ketosis can help you burn off fats for energy. Lots of people, even those people who are
following low carb diet programs, do not really comprehend ketosis or exactly why it does the
job. The majority of diets are generally calorie reduction diet programs. They help you shed
weight. However, a part of the weight loss will be coming from body fat and then a part of it
will be coming from lean body mass. Although you might have lost weight on the scale, your
metabolic function is slowing. The more muscle tissue you eliminate the more sluggish the
metabolic process is going to be. This will make losing weight harder and also gaining pounds
again even easier. The Atkins diet plan, however, is carb restricted. It causes ketosis within your
body that will burn just body fat rather than muscle tissue. A major source of your energy is
going to be body fat as ketones. The liver will turn body fat into ketones but it can never be
changed back again. It is going to be passed out of your body by natural means.

How Did Lenin React To The Bolsheviks
The Russian Civil War of 1918 was the cumulating of the Russian monarchial government s slow
reformation to institute civil reforms and freedoms for the intelligentsia, the creation and
subsequent closing of the Constituent Assembly by the Socialist Revolutionary Party, the
embarrassing Treaty of Brest Litovsk, and the Czarist support of the nobility, who were stripped of
their land after the Bolsheviks coup. These emotions came to a head when a coalition of multiple
Russian political parties joined together to topple the Bolshevik power control, led by Vladimir
Lenin. The power that Lenin and the Bolsheviks had held for little more than a year had come
under attack. The Bolsheviks were now faced with another war in which the direction of Russia...

The most dangerous threat to the Bolsheviks was the White Movement, which was formed in the
aftermath of Lenin signing the Treaty of Brest Litovsk. The treaty ceded Russian territories in
Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Belarus, and part of Ukraine to Germany, as well as forced
the demobilization of the Russian military. This humiliation brought much disillusionment of
Lenin s direction of Russia, and while Bolsheviks achieved an end to their part in World War I to
consolidate Russia, they were nevertheless painted as anti Russian , for giving up so
dishonorably. The White Movement was initially formed by the Menshevik party in opposition to
Lenin, but grew to include Tsarist forces, members of the Cadet party, and Socialist
revolutionaries. Whereas the Bolsheviks were a single entity united under Lenin, the opposing
coalition of the White Movement was composed of several political and ideological party goals,
and while the Whites were led by former Tsarist Navy officer

The Effects Of Cardiovascular System On The Body
Thousands of babies are born a day in the United States. One out every 691 babies born has Down
syndrome, a disorder caused by an extra copy of the chromosome twenty one. In short, this
syndrome shortens the person s life span, and causes assorted severity of mental retardation. Those
carrying this extra chromosome have flattened noses, rounder faces, are petite in size, and are much
more prone to additional unhealthy disturbances or effects on substantial systems in the body.
One specific organ system Down syndrome affects is the cardiovascular system, the main system
that pumps blood throughout the body and essentially manages the lunges. In this system, oxygen
and other necessary nutrients are transported to cells of the body, carbon dioxide is transported to
the lungs, and unnecessary residue is emitted to the kidney, where it is then excreted from the
body. Additionally, the cardiovascular system plays a big role in homeostasis, the component of
our bodies that keeps our internal environment at a constant, appropriate temperature, blood
clotting and fighting infections. There are three main types of cells that help execute the
operations of the cardiovascular system. The first are red blood cells. These cells, as mentioned
earlier, carry oxygen to every part of the body, most importantly to the lungs to help us breath.
Second, are white blood cells, which are essential for fighting infections. These cells generate
antibodies, which are proteins in the blood

The Cultural Impacts Of The Reformation On Scotland And...
Scotland, like many other countries throughout the western world, was changed in 1517 when
Martin Luther published his 95 theses. Through his publication, Luther exposed the sins of the
Roman Catholic Church and denounced its credibility. John Knox, a Scottish Reformer, spread the
teachings of Protestantism throughout Scotland. He exposed the truth behind the wealth and riches
of the Catholic Churchand helped move the country towards the establishment of the Church of
Scotland. The church in the 16th century, was at the center of the daily lives of the Scottish people.
A reform to the church, meant a reform to the culture of Scotland. One cultural impact on Scotland
as a result of the Reformation was education. The Scottish Reformationbroadened the education
system throughout Scotland because of its encouragement to read the Bible.
Before the Scottish reformation, Scotland was ruled by both the King or Queen and the Church.
The church held a powerful position over the lives of the people in Scotland, having influence in
their political, economic, social, and cultural spheres. As a result, the church in Scotland, before and
after the Scottish reformation, held power and influence over the education system.
Before the reformation, there were three types of schools; lecture schools, song schools and
grammar schools. In the grammar schools, which were attached to the cathedrals, boys learned
Latin. As the Bible at this time was only in Latin, this gave the young boys an

My First Semester At Governors State University
My Personal Growth Plan This is my last semester at Governors State University. There were
only two classes that were part of my study plan that I needed for this semester, and I created a
schedule with four weekend classes so that I could be full time. Instead of taking classes that
would just look good on my resume, I decided to take classes that would help to benefit me the
most and ensure my future success as a holistic human being. Other students had spoken about
the Lab in Personal Growth briefly, and every person shared the same sentiment. They each
stated that this was an emotional and eye opening experience that involved a great deal of
emotional insight. Outside of that, I was unaware of what I was in for, but I was excited for
whatever challenge was ahead. Coming into the class I was interested in learning more about
how the class was going to be structured. Even while reading the book and doing the assignments
I did not think much of what we were going to do. Once the schedule was passed out I was
excited, but a little nervous. Meditation was a bigger part of my life during my teenage years, and
yoga was something that was enjoyable, but not something I actively participated in because I have
never heard of a yoga studio that worked with individuals with different abilities. Mindfulness was a

Explain What Makes A Good Role Model
What makes a good role model and how can I ensure that I act as a role model for employees I
supervise? To be a good role model it boils down to three basic things Practice what you preach,
be kind to people and know your job. People are going to imitate those that they admire, so if you
are the manager and you are lax in the guidelines, policy and procedure that you choose to
follow, chances are the employees that you are supervising will follow your lead and they will
also be lax in their treatment of the workplace policy and procedure. This leads to a very untidy
workplace both in person and attitude. Knowing when you can bend the rules a little for a
customer who is having a bad day or if you are looking to build a little goodwill between yourself
and a client, but the rules are there for a reason and must never be broken. Your attitude reflects
on your work ethic and being a manager or a supervisor your work place behavior and attitude are
going be held to a higher standard as an example of the way you would like your staff to conduct

Charles A Riley Disability And The Media Rhetorical Analysis
Rhetorical Analysis The mainstream press today when discussing a disabled celebrity disregards
many of the persons accomplishments throughout their life, but instead focuses and finds
themselves becoming more and more susceptible to drawing attention to their disability alone.
Charles A. Riley II enlightens the able bodied community on many issue s throughout his book,
Disabilityand the Media: Prescriptions for Change. He argues that the media is inaccurately
depicting the disabled community throughout the use of advertisements, but may also be
unintentionally disrespecting the community as well in face to face contact. Riley is a professor
of journalism at Baruch College, and throughout his career, has received multiple awards for his
writing s on issues relating to disability. In Charles A. Riley II excerpt from Disability and the
Media: Prescriptions for Change , Riley argues for a change from the media s perception of
disabled people, as a whole, due to how they are portraying celebrities within today s media
throughout the use of ethos, logos, and pathos.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Riley II has continued to bring awareness to many issues related to disability throughout his life,
the author and recipient of many books and awards related to disability. Riley himself is able
bodied, and has addressed several issues within the able bodied community as a professor of
journalism at Baruch College; therefore, Riley establishes his own credibility. This is key to the
target audience trusting Riley and for him not to be perceived as just another ordinary writer. Riley

Ventromedial Prefrontal Cortex
Structures and Function of the Frontal Lobe
The frontal lobe contains two key structures that have a great impact on mood, behavior and
judgment. These structures are located in the outer area of the cerebrum towards the front of the
skull (Carlson, 2013). This paper will discuss the function and structure of the Ventromedial
Prefrontal Cortex (including the orbitofrontal cortex) and the Dorsolateral Cortex.
The Function of the Ventromedial Prefrontal Cortex
Many studies have concluded that the ventromedial prefrontal cortex (or vmPFC) appears to
provide the inhibition of emotional responses (Carlson, 2013). This region of the brain provides the
mind with the faculties of self restraint or self control.

For example, a study conducted by the University of Iowa College of Medicine found that when
this portion of the brain is damaged, individuals were more susceptible to believing misleading
advertising, thereby triggering the person to make a purchase (Asp et al., 2012). Another study
from the University of Iowa found that damage to the vmPFC seems to be connected with patients
who suffer from drug or gambling additions (Bechara, 2003).
Neurotransmitters Associated with the Ventromedial Prefrontal Cortex
Glutamate and Gamma aminobutyric acid (or GABA) are the main neurotransmitters associated
with this part of the brain. Through the use of magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) researchers
have been able to measure these particular neurotransmitters in order to predict human behavior
when it comes to value guided decision making (Jocham, Hunt, Near, Behrens, 2012).

Michael Porter’s Generic Strategies
Michael Porter s Generic Strategies According to Porter, strategies allow organizations to gain
competitive advantage from three different bases: cost leadership, differentiation and focus. Porter
calls these bases as generic strategies. Cost leadership emphasizes producing standardized products
at a very low per unit cost for consumers who are price sensitive. Differentiation is a strategy aimed
at producing products and services considered unique industry wide and directed at customers who
are relatively price insensitive. Focus means producing products and services that fulfill the needs
of small groups of customers (niche market). When we consider competitiveness, the following
questions are raised: 1.Should we compete on the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some companies which have successfully followed this strategy are: Wal Mart, Southwest Airlines,
Timex, Black Decker, Mc Donald s etc. A successful cost leadership strategy usually provides the
entire firm with high efficiency, low overhead, limited perks, intolerance of waste, intensive
screening of budget requests, and wide span of control efforts. However, some risks of pursuing this
strategy are that competitors might imitate the strategy, thus, driving overall industry profits down;
that technology breakthroughs in the industry may make the strategy ineffective; or that buyer s
interest may swing to other differentiating features besides price. Firms that succeed in cost
leadership often have the following internal strengths: Access to the capital required to make a
significant investment in production assets; this investment represents a barrier to entry that many
firms may not overcome. Skill in designing products for efficient manufacturing, for example,
having a small component count to shorten the assembly process. High level of expertise in
manufacturing process engineering. Efficient distribution channels. Its high market share means
that it will have high bargaining power relative to its suppliers and its low price will also serve as
a barrier to entry. Differentiation Strategies It is aimed at the broad mass market and involves the
creation of a product or service that is perceived unique throughout the industry. The company or

Sociology as Essay
Examine the ways in which sociologists can contribute to our understanding of how social identity
is shaped by gender. (24 marks)
An identity is who we are, this is made up of how we see ourselves and how others see us. Social
identity is based on one s membership to particular groups in society. This essay will examine the
way in which sociologist contribute to our understanding by providing theories and ideas of how
social identity is shaped by gender.
Ann Oakley, a feminist sociologist suggested that there are four ways in which gender socialization
takes place during primary socialization. These are manipulation, canalization, verbal appellations,
and different activities. Manipulation is when parents encourage behaviour that is ... Show more

Parents direct their child interest into certain behaviour according to their gender, for example
when boys are younger they are encouraged to play football and be aggressive and they are
discouraged from crying. And girls are encouraged to play with dolls and to look after their
appearance. Feminists believe this is how an individual s social identity is shaped by gender.
However post modernists sociologists criticize the feminist theory. Post modernists believe that
due to social and economic changes, female role and identities are changing. The changes in the
job market has led to a decline in traditional labour jobs that employed men and new jobs in the
service sector are increasing. These jobs in the service sector are aimed at employing women. As
women are going out to work their values are changing so female identities are changing.
Similarly today s idea of masculinity is different, there are other types of masculinity today, and it
is viewed differently. Bob Connell, a Post modernist sociologist believed that men have become
more in touch with their feminine side and there are now more househusbands and New men. A
househusband is a man that is more involved at home. So the man would take care of the children,
and does the chores as well. Also the fact that celebrities such as David Beckham, a male who is
more concerned with his image, has led to men believing, this is how they should act and behave
as well, it gives men something to look

Poverty Is A Serious World Problem
If you were asked to donate a few of your own items or money to help fight poverty, would you
commit to it? A substantial amount of the world s population suffers from a form of poverty,
whether it be monetary poverty, or food poverty. Poverty has become such a prevalent issue
throughout history, that it isn t put into consideration as much as it should be. Povertyis a serious
world problem, and truly needs to be stopped. With the guidance of citizens of the world, groups
and charities, the percentage of poverty stricken people around the world could be greatly shrunk.
Above all, poverty has countless effects on people, society, governments, etc. One of the
multitude of effects, mainly caused by food poverty, is malnutrition. A handful of families who
suffer from poverty can t afford to buy food, or buy healthy foods. The figures on food poverty
are closer to reality than the monetary poverty statistics, says Ivan Hidalgo. Hidalgo stated that
the food poverty statistics are more at large than the monetary poverty. Malnutrition can also lead
to health issues such as diseases, while the greater portion of families cannot afford hospital care.
Poverty also causes problem in education and societies. A manifold of people struggling with
poverty are unable to attend school, which will affect them for the rest of their lives. The lack of
education also greatly harms the economy of several countries. Those who lack any schooling
often are not able to be employed anywhere,

has become more and more popular among researched in recent years. Interactive segmentation, as
opposed to fully automatic one, supplies the user with means to incorporate his knowledge into the
segmentation process. However, in most of the existing techniques, the suggested user interaction is
not good enough since the user cannot intuitively force his knowledge into the tool or edit results

Presented method to develop as a combined segmentation and editing tool. It incorporates a simple
user interface and a fast and reliable segmentation based on 1D segment matching. The user is
required to click just a few control points on the desired object border, and let the algorithm

Artificial Sweeteners And Low Calorie Sweeteners
In the face of an expanding epidemic of overweight and obesity, individuals have increasingly
turned to artificially sweetened (AS) foods and beverages... in an attempt to lose weight, or control
it (Fowler et al. 2008). Because many artificial sweeteners have less calories in them than regular
sweeteners (such as sugarand honey) do, people have turned to these products in order to help
decrease their caloric intake. One of the most effective ways to lose weight is to decrease the
caloric intake. Artificial sweetenerscan be found in a variety of products, these days, and are very
accessible to consumers. While many believe that these products can help control and reduce
weight, there is evidence suggesting that artificial sweeteners not only have no effect on weight
gain, but may cause weight gain in certain individuals. This is a highly debated topic in the field of
nutrition.
Many researchers believe that artificial sweeteners and low calorie sweeteners can aid in weight
management, however not all researchers agree. Some researchers believe that these sweeteners not
only have no effect on weight management, but can also cause weight gain. There is a tremendous
amount of evidence suggesting that artificial sweeteners aid in weight management. For example,
the study conducted by Blackburn et al. (1997) determined that the addition of the high intensity
artificial sweetener aspartame to a multidisciplinary weight control program would improve weight
loss and aid in the

The Importance Of Cultural Diversity In The United States
The United States is a melting pot now more than ever. The biggest reason for this change is largely
due from immigration and birthrates. Over the past thirty years immigrants who have come to
American have been primarily non Europeans including Asians, and people from South and Central
America. In the year 2000, the United Statescensus recorded 2.4 percent of the population in the
United States to have multiracial backgrounds. Although this may not sound like a big number,
Americans have had to adapt to being more culturally competent. Cultural competence is, The
process by which individuals and systems respond respectfully and effectively to people of all
cultures, languages, classes, races, ethnic backgrounds, religions, and other diversity factors in a
manner that recognizes, affirms, and values the worth of individuals, families, and communities
and protects and preserves the dignity of each. The Census Bureau believes that by 2050, nearly
fifty percent of America s population will be minorities. When the civil rights movement began in
the 1950 s, African Americans and other minority groups tried to alert the United States their
distinct identities. They felt that their long history of oppression especially in the United States had
to come to an end. Immigrants who come to this country bring certain qualities that Americans do
not obtain. Whether it is their language, religion, cultureor even different political backgrounds. As
our nation grows more diverse it

Epic Hero In Beowulf
He would sleep in the fire, soon. His soul, left his flesh, flew to glory. This very quote from the
epic Beowulf, sets the tone and very intense qualities of older epics. This specific epic, focuses on
the hero and Beowulf, who is the only warrior capable of defeating the vicious villainous creature
Grendel, and his mother. Beowulfshares the qualities of many other epic heroes such as showing the
nature of being almost superhuman, being the deciding factor in the wellbeing of his people, and
showing uncontested bravery no matter the obstacle they must face. In more modern times, the

The United States 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment Delta, or Delta Force for short, is

Beowulf was considered the strongest man or warrior in his time, trekking through the unknowns,

Beowulf can even be considered near superhuman. The same can be said for Delta operators whose

Spillover Chapter Summary
Spillover by David Quammen is most definitely one of the more unique, yet applicable novels I
have read in quite some time. As someone who is interested in attending pharmacy school and
ultimately dealing with disease and sickness for the rest of my life, I found it very mesmerizing
to learn about how certain zoonotic diseases came to be. With that said, I ll go right into the first
chapter: Pale Horse . This chapter focuses on the virus now known as Hendra. It started in a place
known as Brisbane, Australia (more specifically a northern suburb known as Hendra) in 1994
where some horses began experiencing the disease. This also ultimately led to some human
infections, some of which causes fatalities. Vic Rail, a horse trainer, was the first human to fatally
experience Hendra... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This chapter focuses on Malaria. When Quammen began writing this, he was told to not include
Malaria because it was not zoonotic but vector borne. However, Quammen found that the human
version of Malaria come from a mosquito biting an infected gorilla, and then biting a human.
Since the disease was delivered to a new host, malaria has now become zoonotic and a spillover.
I personally find this chapter of the book to be rather intriguing because compared to some of
the other diseases in this book such as Hendra or SARS; I would have liked to think that I was
rather knowledgeable about Malaria, but that was not the case. I have never heard of Malaria
being a Spillover and I found it compelling to read about in this book. The next chapter of this
book, Dinner at the Rat Farm , is centered on SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome). In
2003, SARS made its presence known as it rapidly spread globally to places like Canada and the
Philippines. SARS origin belongs to southern province of China called Guangdong. The SARS

distinctions were made, they all scatter throughout the world. God did this so that the people would

It is said that America is the most diverse country in the world; ironically it is also the most
prominent. It is ironic because it is expected that with diverse people in one place they will want
to seclude themselves but in the US; it shows that when there is a similar connection, such as
language, between the people then they can unite and be great. The reason I mentioned that
language doesn t stop dividing people is because even within a certain type of people there is
still seclusion that is caused by language. The invisible oblige of language is so visible that there
are many jokes between Americans about language that distinct types of American groups.

Animals should have a right to live without being confined, exploited, tormented, or eaten. That
means no animal experimentation, no fur or leather clothing, and a vegan or vegetarian lifestyle
(Frazier 2). For instance, the Great Ape Project demands a basic set of moral and legal rights for
chimpanzees, gorillas, bonobos, and orangutans (Yong 2). This law would ban the uses of apes in
experiments or entertainment or commercial ventures, and they would set higher standards for their
conditions in captivity. This means that animals are not property. Singer is the head of GAP and
says that they should extend rights to a wide range of nonhuman animals (Yong 5). This law should
extend to more animals like dogs, pigs, rats, guinea pigs, etc because lot s of animals get used to
test out beauty products. Animals shouldn t be used as tests because it s cruel and inhumane.
According to Humane Society International, usually animals that are used for experimentation are
forced to eat, are forced inhalation, water and food deprivation, prolonged periods of physical
restraint ( Animal Testing). This needs to stop. On the other hand, people think that we need to

Counterfeit Daydreams
Have you ever paused and discovered that it s so easy to get lost in the counterfeit? ...or realized
that we live in a world where the counterfeit seems more real than the real?
Check out this conversation between Morpheus and Neo from the movie The Matrix .
Morpheus: I see it in your eyes. You have the look of a man who accepts what he sees because he
is expecting to wake up. Ironically, that s not far from the truth. ...Do you believe in fate, Neo?
Neo: No.
Morpheus: Why not?
Neo: Because I don t like the idea that I m not in control of my life.
Morpheus: I know exactly what you mean. Let me tell you why you re here. You re here because
you know something. What you know you can t explain, but you feel it. You ve felt it your entire
life, that there s something wrong with the world. You don t know what it is, but it s there, like a

Biology Case Study Essay
Case Study 1 1. Johnny has seen the words Sodium Chloride before in his science class with the
periodic table. 2. Johnny couldn t find Sodium Chloride on the periodic table because Sodium
Chloride is a molecule made up of two atoms: Sodium and Chloride. 3. Sodium Chloride represents
two atoms that together form a molecule: NaCl.
Na: Sodium and Cl: Chloride 4. An ionic bond occurs when two or more ions (an atom whose
number of elections differs from its number of protons) bond together because of their opposite
charge. They are drawn to each other like magnets because of their opposite charge. 5. Sodium

This is important to remember with a water molecule because the hydrogen bonds between
individual molecules and are constantly breaking and then reforming. This allows the
molecules to pack close together. 11. Acids are any substance that yields hydrogen ions when
put in aqueous solution. In other words, the concentration of hydrogen ions goes up the the
further doe the pH scale you go. Bases are any substance that accepts hydrogen ions in aqueous
solution. Again, the more basic it is the lower the concentration of hydrogen ions. 12. The pH
scale is a scale used to measure the relative acidity or alkalinity of a solution. The scale ranges
from 0 to 14, and figures out the concentration of hydrogen ions in a solution. The lower the pH
number, the more acidic the solution is. The higher the pH number, the more basic the solution.
13. At the chemical level, Johnny would be able to tell if something was an acid or a base by the
concentration of hydrogen ions in a solution. 14. H+ refers to a hydrogen ion: a lone proton that
has lost its electron making it a positively charged ion. 15. Acids are H+ donators: Acids release
hydrogen ions in a solution, meaning the hydrogen ions concentration goes up, thus lowering the
pH.
Bases are H+ acceptors: Bases accepts hydrogen ions in a solution, meaning the hydrogen ion
concentration goes down and the pH

Election Mapping In The United States
Election mapping is a very important tool when studying the history of our county. The history
books may be able recount the events, but election maps can reveal how people reacted at that time.
American s opinions and views change over time and this can be proved through election mapping.
By looking at three elections: 1960, 1968, and 1980, it can be shown that changes in the political
landscape are the result of multiple factors impacting the American people. The first notable detail
is what did not change throughout these three elections. It would seem that the Deep South was
very firm on their political views. They consistently voted conservatively with the Democratic Party,
even in the 1980 election, in which incumbent Democratic President

The amount of Latinos in this country is rapidly growing; the Latino community is 16.3 percent of
the population. In the article written by Kate Linthicum, it is estimated that 40 million Latinos will
be eligible to vote by 2030 and in 2014, 25 million Latinos were eligible to vote. In the previous
2012 Presidential elections, the massive amount of Latinos had a significant importance in the
election. Both the Democratic and Republican political party aimed to receive the support of the
Latino voters. This upcoming election both political parties will have to find strategies to win over

Weinstein Feminist Theory
Men are considered to be the dominant gender in basically every industry. This heavily applies to
the Hollywood film industry, where most films are directed, produced and/or written by men. With
this, it s no doubt that these men have a sense of power over everything, since they are in charge.
Unfortunately, some men take this power a little too far. Over the years, various malecelebrities
have been accused of sexual abuse and harassment towards their female co stars, assistants etc. The
most recent example of this is the various allegations against one of the biggest film producer in
Hollywood, Harvey Weinstein. Since the allegations have come out, a bunch of female celebrities
have lent their support towards the victims of Weinstein and some even shared their own
experiences with the disgraced producer. However, not many male celebrities have come out to
condemn Weinstein s actions. In fact, The Guardian, a British news agency released an article
stating that they asked over 20 male celebrities who worked closely with the producer, and none of
them returned their calls at the time (Wong and Levin,2017). To explain the event and why
Weinstein and these male celebrities acted the way they did in this situation, I decided to use the
classical theory Conflict Theory and the contemporary theory Feminist Theory. After looking at
both theories, I have decided that Conflict Theory is the best way to explain this situation due to the
power status Weinstein and the men have

Baby Igneous Rocks Research Paper
Volcano eruptions bring newborn rocks to the world. Every year, rock families would wait
around volcanos for the erupted magma or surface lava to cool down. Each family would adopt
the baby igneous rocks of their type, who share the same genes, or minerals, as them. These
igneous rocks could have a variety of appearance and crystal sizes. Some rocks composed of
surface lava have smaller, less complex crystalline structures. They were cooled much faster when
they were in contact with air or water, and larger, more complex crystalline structure would not be
formed before they harden. On the adoption day, all kinds of rocks could be spotted; with different
lustre, colour, crystalline structure, and mineral composition. As baby igneous rocks

Outdoor Public Spaces
A 2 year study conducted by Valentine (2004) examined parental views in regard to children
using outdoor public spaces for play. Through her research Valentine came across parents concern
about child abduction as, 63% of parents believed it was strangers that would carry out child
abduction. Due to this belief, parents were less likely to allow their childthe privileged to play
outdoors as they feared their child would be abducted, which may have resulted in the decline in
outdoor play over the years. However, Gill (2007) argues that a child is more likely to be harmed
by a trusted adult in private rather than a stranger in their community.
To add to this, it can be an advantage for children to play away from adult supervision, for
example playing outdoors without the adult over the child s shoulders constantly disrupting their
play. Through this, a child can obtain independent mobility, in which they can explore the
environment on their terms and create own identities (Armitage, 2004). This could be an
implication for early years practitioners, as part of their job role in early years is to supervise all
the children within the class, therefore adult supervision is needed within the early years when
children are playing outdoors. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Adults role in play can be an important factor for young children as adults provide children with
opportunities to take part in the play as well as affecting children s play. Adults can affect what a
child may or may not experience through giving permission. Relating this back to young children
playing outdoors in public spaces, the adult may not authorise permission for young children to
play in public spaces. Through this young children will not be able to experience what they would
in a public outdoor space, compared to a closed outdoor

Feminism in Elizabeth Barrett Browning s Aurora Leigh Essay
Feminism in Elizabeth Barrett Browning s Aurora Leigh
In Aurora Leigh, Elizabeth Barrett Browning creates an independent, intelligent young woman.
Barrett Browning successfully demonstrates the difficult obstacles women had to overcome in the
Victorian period. There were preconceived ideas of what proper women were suppose to do with
their life. Not that this idea has completely been surmounted in our time. Barrett Browning though
is optimistic about the goals women can achieve. She wants to demonstrate to women that belief in
themselves and their dreams is possible and preferable to the standard.
The poem begins with Aurora Leigh s observations of her aunt. Her somewhat narrow forehead

reading that were considered improper. In effect Aurora Leigh was taught A general insight into

conversation. She was not taught to think deeply and explore ideas for herself.
Her aunt also had her instructed in Spun glass, Stuffed birds, and modeled flowers in wax,

considered the ability to do crafts an accomplishment for women. After the list of Aurora Leigh s
education is drawn out, there is an interesting side bar. Barrett Browning adds By the way,/ The
works of women are symbolical./ We sew...producing what...at best, a cushion...and dream of

her belief. Women produce goods that are trivial, not necessary in life. This affects the worth of the
woman, not only in monetary value but in their esteem. Therefore the value of women in society is
low for what they produce is of little worth.
Through this strict upbringing Aurora Leigh s personality persisted. At age twenty she

The Importance Of European Migration To North America
During 1400 1700 in Europe people think about the Renaissance, but something else was
happening on the other side of the world. The Europeans that came to North America helped the
world be more connected at the cost of the Indians. The Europeans discovered North America and
conquered and controlled it from 1492 to 1776. The Indians did not appreciate all the Europeans
but loved the trades they brought. They permanently changed the world from plants and animals
to culture but changed it for the worse by bringing diseases. On Columbus s second trip to
America he brought many of the goods we have today in America. If you are from Kansas then

False Accusations In The Crucible
Infused with mystery, fear grim facts and records, Witchcraft history can be traced back to
centuries. During the Salem Witch Trials, false accusations were being spread around leading to
the community of Salem to be filled with fear and death. In his novel, The Crucible, Arthur Miller
argues that making false accusations and rumors can ruin a person s reputation, and eventually, a
community. First, Miller establishes his criticism of false accusations through his negative
portrayal of characters who engage in this practice. Reverand Parris daughter, Betty Parris, became
sick after she and other girls went into the forest. Abigail was one of the girls that went into the
forest with her. Parris was asking if her reputation was clean. Parris... Show more content on

Marshal Herrick enters the Salem jails nearly drunk and tries to wake Sarah Good up. While
doing this, he wakes up Tituba. As they were talking, A bellowing cow was heard. Tituba says,

is heard, and TItuba leaps up and calls to the window: Aye, sir! That s him Sarah! (Miller 113).
Tituba mistakes the bellowing cow as the devil s call. The cow was heard because its owners
were in jail, the fences were knocked down. This shows that Salem is a corrupt community and
is falling apart. Later on, Hale says to Danforth, there are orphans wandering from house to
house; abandoned cattle bellow on the highroads, the stink of rotting crops hangs everywhere,
and no man knows when the harlots cry will end his life... (Miller 121). Hale says this to
Danforth because there are many people being jailed, killed, or accused of witchcraft and since
this is happening, there is no one to take care of their kids, tame the cows, and harvest the crops.
To summarize, Salem has fallen apart due to puritans being in jail and not being able to take care
of their kids,

Functional Specificity Of The Human Brain Essay
The human brain is a very complicated part of the human anatomy. Kanwisher states in an inaugural
article, Understanding the nature of the human mind is arguably the greatest intellectual quest of
all time. The impacts occur when during the embryo phase of life development. Brain is the
operational center of a human body. As I was reading the article functional specificity in the human
brain: A window into the functional architecture of the mind, Gall proposed that the brain is the
seat of the mind, that the mind is composed of distinct mental faculties, and that each mental
faculty reside in a specific rain organ (Kanwisher, 2010). The brain the main center of our body
that controls the function of each part. In the early stage of life, babies begin to develop their
basic functions that even though babies do not have the ability to communicate, they learn very
quickly how to talk and walk. Babies can see and hear to recognize the sounds, and they have their
own language. The development of new words and sounds critical in this beginning stage life. The
human brains are all developed the same; however, the early development phase if critical for
building out capacity. The human brainis one of the most mysterious tissues, and the neurons send
signals to each other across a tiny gap between them via spreading electrical messages across vast
networks to make your brain do what it does. For instance, monolingual and bilingual speakers. The
question is whether monolingual

Shadowhunters Research Paper
Preface
Everyone knows the world has an evil side but only a few know just how evil. Demons exist,
though a pure demon is now a rare thing, most of the bloodlines have been tainted and are now full
of half breeds called downworlders. Vampires, Fairies, Wizards, Shifters, Werewolves and more
walk the earth and mundanes, or humans, see them as other humans. Only other downworlders or
Shadowhunters can see them in their true form.
Shadowhunters, now that is a special breed! They are an advanced race of humans called
Nephilim, born with angel blood. They have the ability to use magic runes, burned into their
bodies by an angel weapon called a stele, to help protect them and give them strength. They were
tasked with defending the mundanes, or humans, of the world and keeping the downworlders in

  • 2. Education And Student Education Through my schooling so far, I have learned and read about education and student culture to put together a general philosophy about what I believe as a teacher. Beginning the middle level education program, my philosophy has evolved and strengthened based on the uniqueness of young adolescent needs. I believe that every child can learn and deserves equal opportunity in the classroom. I believe that young adolescents deserve a curriculum that accommodates whatever need they may have. I believe that every child deserves a teacher who will advocate for them academically and socially. This philosophy will continue to evolve as I continue my journey through the program. Young adolescents between the ages of 10 and 15 are going through numerous personal changes in types of development. They are at all different stages, so a classroom can vary greatly between individuals. Thinking patterns often change in middle school. Students begin to start relating things to their world and lives at a deeper level. Young adolescents face problems such as violence, body image, health, and drugs. In a school where there is so much the students are being exposed to, it has been found that it is difficult for them to make healthy decisions that benefit them. As mentioned previously, young adolescents are at different stages of diverse types of development. Intellectual development is the young adolescent s reasoning and judgement based on growth from experience. Many adolescents are in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Evolution And Development Of Operation Management Introduction People can say that operations management has existed since man start to produced goods and services to meet their needs and necessities. Although, the origin of operations may be come from ancient civilizations, their major evolution in history is practically refers to the last 250 years. Therefore, the story is presented in accordance with the most important contributions or primitive impulses and not strictly chronological terms. There are several important areas that have contributed to the evolution and development of operation management. One of the key factor and influence on history of this development is the industrial revolution. In the eighteenth century in England there it occurred a development called Industrial Revolution. This development comprised two main aspects: the widespread substitution of human, animal and water power machines; it originates a second aspect that was the establishment of the factory system. The steam engine invented by James Watt in 1764, provided the necessary mechanical power to factories, others parallel events as the creation and concentration of workers at the factories. This development gave workers and factories a need to organize for a more logical, faster and efficient completion of tasks (Qureshi, 2015). The Industrial Revolution spread to England and other European nations and the United States. This was more accelerated in the late eighteenth century with the development of the petrol engine and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Left Ventricular Assist Devices Essay Introduction Left Ventricular Assist Devices (LVADs) have increased durability and patient survival on the people who live with heart failure. These devices are mechanical pumps which can work as a bridge to transplantation or as destination therapy to help the heart to follow its tasks properly. Asgari and Bonde [1] presented a new totally implantable physiologic left ventricular assist device system in pulsatile and continuous modes using wireless networks. The authors [1] have proposed a great contribution to use wireless powering, monitor, communication and control in the field of implantable control of ventricular assist devices. However, many issues will appear in the result of the proposed system which needs more investigations in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To investigate the feasibility and implantability of the proposed methodology, the authors tested physiologic controller in two large female pigs in vivo experiments. The results showed that the suggested controller (UMC Physio), consumes less power compared with the HeartMate II (axial pump) controller and HeartWare (centrifugal pump) ventricular assist device controller. Critique The system presented wireless network for monitor, communication, control and powering of the left ventricular assist device systems which is a novel and significant research for LVADs implantation [1]. However, if there are not internet access and wireless network (via smartphone) at the same time due to malfunction in antenna or network, limitation in range and other issues, the proposed system will fail to monitor and control the LVAD in patients, and therefore it will result in dangerous conditions or death. Wireless connections have harmful effects on the health of people and especially on blood, the heart, and the autonomic nervous system when the radiation is continuous and long term [2]. Therefore, it is recommended to reduce electrosmog exposure and prevent wireless networks for communication, monitor, control and powering of the LVADs. Although the main aim of the research published by Asgari and Bonde was to propose a wireless method for LVAD systems, it is not acceptable that the author did not compare proposed controller with the other famous methods such as preload based ... • 5. Examples Of Betty Neuman Systems Model Betty Neuman s Systems Model It is important to allow theory to guide nursing practice. Nursing theory can be applied as an influence to help solve nursing practice issues by facilitating reflection, reexamination and critical thinking about the effectiveness of the nursing process. The Neuman Systems Model (NSM) is a distinct, systems based perspective that provides a unifying focus for approaching a wide range of nursing concerns (Neuman, 2005). The purpose of this paper is to discuss the NSM and the relevance of the conceptual model in nursing practice for the role of the family nurse practitioner (FNP) in diverse populations. Betty Neuman s Systems Model Overview The Neuman Systems Model (NSM) was formulated to assist in the coordination of patient care activities to be completely centered on the patient s wholeness and well being (Neuman and Reed, 2007). The NSM is a simple in depth approach to explain the concepts of stressors and how they inspire well being. Neuman (1972) states this model extends beyond the illness model and includes the concepts of problem finding, prevention, and the newer behavior science concepts and environmental approaches to wellness (p. 265). The model is still used in current practice under the same context. This model currently is being used to guide the curricula of baccalaureate and master s nursing programs in numerous schools of nursing worldwide (Neuman, 1996). This model is also being used as a guide for nursing homes and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Gangster Genre of Films Essays The Godfather is the most revolutionary gangster film of all time, it rewrote the gangster genre in such a stylized way that all latter gangster films have conformed to this genre but also evolved it as films have progressed. Directed by Francis Ford Coppola The Godfather re invented the gangster genre elevating it to a Hollywood status and making it commercially profitable. All gangster movies have been judged by the standards of this one, it has a very strong script that is well plotted, although at times difficult to understand. Two other gangster directors are Quentin Tarantino, famous for many films but Pulp Fiction stands out, and Guy Ritchie, the writer of Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels . and Snatch . Both of these writers have been influenced by The Godfather , its stereotypes, plots and gangster families, and although both writers have both influenced the genre in their separate ways, neither of them have made quite the impact that The Godfather did. However, Pulp Fiction adopted a large cult status, it became increasingly popular and became a Hollywood blockbuster, it did in its own re invent the gangster genre regarding the association of humour and the subversion of the original Godfather genre. Tarantino made Pulp Fiction in 1994 and it was regarded as innovative and different, he plays around with the timeline of the three inter connecting storylines that leaves you dazed and confused, but strangely satisfied. Tarantino manages this by introducing the protagonist of each story in the previous story, either as a minor character or a stock character. This gives you the impression that you have ... • 9. Analysis Of Magnificent Seven For the Final Project this project will be focus on the movie The Magnificent Seven. This movie is a compelling movie that show a group of bound hunters caring more about the job more than the money. Some of the characters in the movie went through internet conflict that led them to change throughout the movie. In Magnificent Seven we can see many example of binary oppositionand position throughout the plot of the movie. The villain Bogue want to seize control of the town of Rose Creek to dig for gold in the mines. Emma Cullen and some of the townsfolks turn to bound hunters to protect them from the tyranny of Bugue and his gang. The movie director of Magnificent Seven use political agendas in the plot and through the characters because he wants to reveal how the indulgence of money can cause people to be corrupt and to others people money can be less important than life. By trying to reveal this truth the director used the Marxist Literary Theoryand the Postcolonial Theory to hope change society outlook on money. In Magnificent Seven some of the character is empowered and disempowered to the plot social orders. The bound hunter s political orders made them empowered because protecting the people of Rose Creek was more important to them at the end. The job became more valuable than the money. Some of the bound hunter s risk and sacrifice their life s to protect the people of Rose Creek town from the epic battle at the end. The main bound hunter Sam Chisolm can be describe as a round and dynamic character. When Sam Chisolm recruit the gang of bound hunters they were about the reward money for protecting the townsfolks. At the end of the movie their point of view changes a lot. Bogus can be describe as a static and flat character. Bogue is the main protagonist in the movie. Bogue doesn t change in the movie because his main intention is to take control over the town, so he can get richer. These character trails for Bogue disempowered him in the movie plot. • 10. Analyzing The Efficacy Of Cyclical. Electrical Stimulation... E wiki 1 This article, published in the journal of physiotherapy examines the efficacy of cyclical electrical stimulation through a meta analysis of data extracted from 16 articles. The aim of using cyclical electrical stimulation is to increase the number of motor units and/or cross sectional area of muscle activated during movement to increase strength (Nascimento et al. 2014). The article is highly relevant to the physiotherapy field, ultimately looking to improve the quality of treatment available to patients. The Introduction is well written and clearly outlines the research questions in focus, thus giving context to further explore ideas. The research methods used in this article were of high standard, using several refinement processes to ensure data used was valid. For instance, Physiotherapy Evidence Database scores (score from 0 to 10) ensured the use of quality papers (Nascimento et al. 2014). The results section is split into various subheadings which was difficult to follow at times. However, all data is summarised sufficiently with reasoning provided and referenced. The article effectively provides evidence that cyclical electrical stimulation can increase strength, however due to there being limited studies available, two of the research questions were unanswered stating there are insufficient data to provide evidence (Nascimento et al. 2014, p. 29). • 11. The Airlines And The Airline Industry The airline industry has been around for years, it has suffered its ups and downs due to attacks such as the one that occurred in September 11, and even most recent as the Paris attack that occurred this past year. Major Airlines have suffered a decline in their profitability which has forced many airlines to file for bankruptcy. However, when bad times hit an industry some companies are forced to quit, while others are forced to change their strategy and continue moving forward. In the airline industry, we have two major industries classified as the traditional airlines and the budget airlines. Traditional airlines have vertically integrated services and purchase their aircrafts directly from their manufacturer. On the other hand, budget airlines lease their aircrafts in order to source their fleet and provide cheaper flights. These cheap flights are supported by the subsidiaries in the secondary airports they flight in and out of. Secondary airports are a great way for budget airlines to provide a faster turnaround due to the fewer flights that go in and out of these secondary airports. With budget Airlines there is also no in flight service, the low cost the customer pays includes nothing but the flight itself. There is limited aircrew, which is responsible for cleaning the aircrafts and tickets are strictly sold online. Their advertising money is spent mostly in advertising heavily on popular social media sites. Whether a customer decides to flight on a budget airline ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The government of Botswana has been over the years working tirelessly in trying to curb unemployment more especially among the youth, as well as motivating them to venture into different kinds of businesses as a way encouraging entrepreneurship and trying to diversify the country s economy which is highly reliant on diamond exports. This includes among other things, coming up with initiatives such as the Youth Development Fund (YDF) which exists to fund youth businesses to help fight unemployment and poverty. One of the programs of late is the Economic Stimulus Package (ESP) which aims at up skilling and up scaling unemployed youth among one of its many mandates. Again, there is the Citizen Entrepreneurship Development Agency (CEDA) which aims at providing financial and technical assistance to citizens to develop their businesses (CEDA, 2016). Not only does CEDA offer financial assistance to developing businesses but also to already existing ones. What is more, it also offers training, mentorship and advisory services to new entrepreneurs as well as those that have been in the industry for a while. • 13. Philosophy Of John Stuart Mill Callie R. Young Miss J. Hall 17 November, 2017 Intro to Philosophy John Stuart Mill Actions are right in proportion as they tend to promote happiness; wrong as they tend to produce the reverse of happiness. By happiness is intended pleasure and the absence of pain. J.S.M John Stuart Mill, the eldest son of Benthamite economist James Mill, was held to rigorous educational standards. At age three he learned Greek and then Latin at age eight. Growing up, Mill was extremely intelligent but also very emotionally depressed. He had nervous breakdown that then forced him to rethink what he had been taught and had been teaching, and often said that poetry was the way out of his depression. Mill was a strong believer in freedom, especially that of speech and of thought. He spent most of his life at East India Company, from 1826 to the year 1857 for which he had the same position his father held the chief examiner, which put him in charge of guiding company policies in India. In his 20s, Mill felt the influence of historicism, social thoughts of the French nature, and Romanticism; as well as urbanization and industrialization. This led him to look for a new philosophy that wouldn t be so harsh on the limits that shaped society by imposing on its culture and history, but instead would emphasize humanity s cultivation. After his retirement and the death of his wife, he was elected into a seat in Parliament and took part in three momentous occasions. The first generated movement ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Lots of people, even those people who are following low carb diet programs, do not really comprehend ketosis or exactly why it does the job. The majority of diets are generally calorie reduction diet programs. They help you shed weight. However, a part of the weight loss will be coming from body fat and then a part of it will be coming from lean body mass. Although you might have lost weight on the scale, your metabolic function is slowing. The more muscle tissue you eliminate the more sluggish the metabolic process is going to be. This will make losing weight harder and also gaining pounds again even easier. The Atkins diet plan, however, is carb restricted. It causes ketosis within your body that will burn just body fat rather than muscle tissue. A major source of your energy is going to be body fat as ketones. The liver will turn body fat into ketones but it can never be changed back again. It is going to be passed out of your body by natural means. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

How Did Lenin React To The Bolsheviks The Russian Civil War of 1918 was the cumulating of the Russian monarchial government s slow reformation to institute civil reforms and freedoms for the intelligentsia, the creation and subsequent closing of the Constituent Assembly by the Socialist Revolutionary Party, the embarrassing Treaty of Brest Litovsk, and the Czarist support of the nobility, who were stripped of their land after the Bolsheviks coup. These emotions came to a head when a coalition of multiple Russian political parties joined together to topple the Bolshevik power control, led by Vladimir Lenin. The power that Lenin and the Bolsheviks had held for little more than a year had come under attack. The Bolsheviks were now faced with another war in which the direction of Russia... The treaty ceded Russian territories in Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Belarus, and part of Ukraine to Germany, as well as forced the demobilization of the Russian military. This humiliation brought much disillusionment of Lenin s direction of Russia, and while Bolsheviks achieved an end to their part in World War I to consolidate Russia, they were nevertheless painted as anti Russian , for giving up so dishonorably. The White Movement was initially formed by the Menshevik party in opposition to Lenin, but grew to include Tsarist forces, members of the Cadet party, and Socialist revolutionaries. One out every 691 babies born has Down syndrome, a disorder caused by an extra copy of the chromosome twenty one. In short, this syndrome shortens the person s life span, and causes assorted severity of mental retardation. Those carrying this extra chromosome have flattened noses, rounder faces, are petite in size, and are much more prone to additional unhealthy disturbances or effects on substantial systems in the body. One specific organ system Down syndrome affects is the cardiovascular system, the main system that pumps blood throughout the body and essentially manages the lunges. In this system, oxygen and other necessary nutrients are transported to cells of the body, carbon dioxide is transported to the lungs, and unnecessary residue is emitted to the kidney, where it is then excreted from the body. Additionally, the cardiovascular system plays a big role in homeostasis, the component of our bodies that keeps our internal environment at a constant, appropriate temperature, blood clotting and fighting infections. There are three main types of cells that help execute the operations of the cardiovascular system. The first are red blood cells. These cells, as mentioned earlier, carry oxygen to every part of the body, most importantly to the lungs to help us breath. Second, are white blood cells, which are essential for fighting infections. • 17. The Cultural Impacts Of The Reformation On Scotland And... Scotland, like many other countries throughout the western world, was changed in 1517 when Martin Luther published his 95 theses. Through his publication, Luther exposed the sins of the Roman Catholic Church and denounced its credibility. John Knox, a Scottish Reformer, spread the teachings of Protestantism throughout Scotland. He exposed the truth behind the wealth and riches of the Catholic Churchand helped move the country towards the establishment of the Church of Scotland. The church in the 16th century, was at the center of the daily lives of the Scottish people. A reform to the church, meant a reform to the culture of Scotland. One cultural impact on Scotland as a result of the Reformation was education. The Scottish Reformationbroadened the education system throughout Scotland because of its encouragement to read the Bible. Before the Scottish reformation, Scotland was ruled by both the King or Queen and the Church. The church held a powerful position over the lives of the people in Scotland, having influence in their political, economic, social, and cultural spheres. As a result, the church in Scotland, before and after the Scottish reformation, held power and influence over the education system. Before the reformation, there were three types of schools; lecture schools, song schools and grammar schools. In the grammar schools, which were attached to the cathedrals, boys learned Latin. There were only two classes that were part of my study plan that I needed for this semester, and I created a schedule with four weekend classes so that I could be full time. Instead of taking classes that would just look good on my resume, I decided to take classes that would help to benefit me the most and ensure my future success as a holistic human being. Other students had spoken about the Lab in Personal Growth briefly, and every person shared the same sentiment. They each stated that this was an emotional and eye opening experience that involved a great deal of emotional insight. Outside of that, I was unaware of what I was in for, but I was excited for whatever challenge was ahead. Coming into the class I was interested in learning more about how the class was going to be structured. Even while reading the book and doing the assignments I did not think much of what we were going to do. Once the schedule was passed out I was excited, but a little nervous. Meditation was a bigger part of my life during my teenage years, and yoga was something that was enjoyable, but not something I actively participated in because I have never heard of a yoga studio that worked with individuals with different abilities. To be a good role model it boils down to three basic things Practice what you preach, be kind to people and know your job. People are going to imitate those that they admire, so if you are the manager and you are lax in the guidelines, policy and procedure that you choose to follow, chances are the employees that you are supervising will follow your lead and they will also be lax in their treatment of the workplace policy and procedure. These structures are located in the outer area of the cerebrum towards the front of the skull (Carlson, 2013). This paper will discuss the function and structure of the Ventromedial Prefrontal Cortex (including the orbitofrontal cortex) and the Dorsolateral Cortex. The Function of the Ventromedial Prefrontal Cortex Many studies have concluded that the ventromedial prefrontal cortex (or vmPFC) appears to provide the inhibition of emotional responses (Carlson, 2013). Porter calls these bases as generic strategies. Cost leadership emphasizes producing standardized products at a very low per unit cost for consumers who are price sensitive. Differentiation is a strategy aimed at producing products and services considered unique industry wide and directed at customers who are relatively price insensitive. Focus means producing products and services that fulfill the needs of small groups of customers (niche market). However, some risks of pursuing this strategy are that competitors might imitate the strategy, thus, driving overall industry profits down; that technology breakthroughs in the industry may make the strategy ineffective; or that buyer s interest may swing to other differentiating features besides price. Firms that succeed in cost leadership often have the following internal strengths: Access to the capital required to make a significant investment in production assets; this investment represents a barrier to entry that many firms may not overcome. Skill in designing products for efficient manufacturing, for example, having a small component count to shorten the assembly process. High level of expertise in manufacturing process engineering. • 37. Spillover Chapter Summary Spillover by David Quammen is most definitely one of the more unique, yet applicable novels I have read in quite some time. As someone who is interested in attending pharmacy school and ultimately dealing with disease and sickness for the rest of my life, I found it very mesmerizing to learn about how certain zoonotic diseases came to be. With that said, I ll go right into the first chapter: Pale Horse . This chapter focuses on the virus now known as Hendra. It started in a place known as Brisbane, Australia (more specifically a northern suburb known as Hendra) in 1994 where some horses began experiencing the disease. This also ultimately led to some human infections, some of which causes fatalities. Vic Rail, a horse trainer, was the first human to fatally experience Hendra... However, Quammen found that the human version of Malaria come from a mosquito biting an infected gorilla, and then biting a human. Since the disease was delivered to a new host, malaria has now become zoonotic and a spillover. I personally find this chapter of the book to be rather intriguing because compared to some of the other diseases in this book such as Hendra or SARS; I would have liked to think that I was rather knowledgeable about Malaria, but that was not the case. I have never heard of Malaria being a Spillover and I found it compelling to read about in this book. The next chapter of this book, Dinner at the Rat Farm , is centered on SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome). In 2003, SARS made its presence known as it rapidly spread globally to places like Canada and the Philippines. SARS origin belongs to southern province of China called Guangdong. Over the years, various malecelebrities have been accused of sexual abuse and harassment towards their female co stars, assistants etc. The most recent example of this is the various allegations against one of the biggest film producer in Hollywood, Harvey Weinstein. Since the allegations have come out, a bunch of female celebrities have lent their support towards the victims of Weinstein and some even shared their own experiences with the disgraced producer. Due to this belief, parents were less likely to allow their childthe privileged to play outdoors as they feared their child would be abducted, which may have resulted in the decline in outdoor play over the years. However, Gill (2007) argues that a child is more likely to be harmed by a trusted adult in private rather than a stranger in their community. To add to this, it can be an advantage for children to play away from adult supervision, for example playing outdoors without the adult over the child s shoulders constantly disrupting their play. Through this, a child can obtain independent mobility, in which they can explore the environment on their terms and create own identities (Armitage, 2004).
