Madame Bovary And The Burgeoisie Class
Word Count:1403
In the novel, Madame Bovary, many individuals aim to be a part of the Bourgeoisie class and in
order to be associated with them, they stage a facade to look superior to the world. Emma Bovary
and Homais were prime example of characters in their pursuit to fit in. They strived to keep up a
good front based on appearances and failed in their attempts many times. Flaubert used these
characters to reveal their insincere nature and expose their mediocrity. Through these characters,
Flaubert uses subtle ironic humor to accentuate the pretentiousness of the bourgeoisie class.
The purpose of Emma Bovary and Homais character in the novel represents the self self serving,
corrupt and deceptive nature of the middle class. Flaubert underlines their weaknesses to show that
no matter how hard they tried to hide their flaws, they always belonged in the middle class. He
establishes their characters to express his criticism of the bourgeoisie society.
Homais was a minor character in the novel but Flaubert focused on him as he wanted to ridicule and
emphasize the pretentiousness of the bourgeoisie class. He has a opportunist and cunning
personality which led him to commit heinous ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

of others for his his own personal gain. In the end, Emma dies an ironic death and Homais ended
up being awarded a medal of the Legion of Honor. They both sacrificed the wellbeing of others to
elevate how they look in society. Flaubert uses these individuals to accentuate and ridicule the

The Effects Of Mass Media And Communication On The Society
Media Message
Introduction
Behavioral sciences play a central role in figuring out the likely effect of mass media and
communication in the society. Different theories and approaches are used to figure this out. This
study refers to the Uses and Gratifications, and Cultivation theories to consider the effect of the
media article below on individuals. The uses and gratification theory argues that consumers of a
given media uses this media to satisfy and fulfill specific desires and needs. On the other hand,
cultivation theory holds that heavy exposure to a certain media can cause an individual to have an
illusory perception of the life reality based on the most consistent and repetitive message that is
given in this media (Fourie, 2011).

The article addressed itself to the issue of introduction of a mortgage loan that is offered at an

HSBC, which is one of the leading banks in the United Kingdom, is planning to launch its less than
one per cent mortgage loan. The article analyses the requirements that an interested borrower will

be taking these growth opportunities? Why or why not? I believe the decision to expand areas of
Green Cabs opertaions is one that Callum Brown should offer more thought. Green Cabs currently

Publically listing his company on the share market would be a great way to raise capital through
share purchase. Investors would be attracted to the positive results Green Cabs have already
achieved and would not hestitate to buy shares in the business. This would make expansion
more feasible and allow for and easier entrance into some of harder areas. As a sole proprietor,
Callum Brown is solely in charge of the direction of the firm. The case study does not stipulate
whether or not he has any external influences to aid his decision making. As Green Cabs begins
to grow, it will make Callum s workload much heavier, and he may struggle to make the best
decisions for the firm. Raising capital through selling shares would allow positive growth within
the firm as Callum Brown can afford to hire a management team in order to make more efficient
and calculated business decisions. This could have negative effects to the business. With a strong
set of values set by Callum, Green Cabs has a very positive image which attracts customers.
Introducing new management introduces new ideas and potentially differing values. Callum is
open with the fact that he doesn t desire millions of dollars from Green Cabs. However when you
have investors wanting a premium return on their shares, Green Cabs will be required to make as
much profit as possible. This could have a potentially negative impact on their attempts to be

U.s. Should Adopt A Free International Trade Policy
The question of whether the U.S. should adopt a free international trade policy is a hotly debated
one. Currently, the U.S. has a relatively open trade policy and enjoys free trade with twenty
countries1 and more are being added to this list through new agreements. But does it benefit from
free trade? Evidence, which I will present in this paper, show that the benefits of free trade highly
outweigh the little and often misinterpreted disadvantages. In light of this, the U.S. should adopt a
free trade policy and look forward to new trade agreements. When evaluating the benefits of free
trade, the first economic concept we must look at is comparative advantage: the comparative

consumers would face inflated prices in a market devoid of international competition. However,
cheaper goods are not the only advantage of free trade. Trade involves exports too, and as 95%
of the consumers in the world are outside of the U.S., free trade opens a portal for the U.S.
producers to sell their goods to a larger pool of consumers who potentially value the goods more
than the U.S. consumers.5 According to Daniella Markheim and Anthony Kim of The Heritage
Institute, without free trade, the U.S. manufacturers would be limited to selling to a lower
number of consumers inside the U.S. and this would mean less firms producing, fewer jobs, and
even lower wages. They say Today, the $12 trillion U.S. economy is bolstered by free trade, a
pillar of America s vitality. American exports support one in five U.S. manufacturing jobs. Jobs
directly linked to the export of goods pay 13 to 18 percent more than other U.S. jobs. 6 Further,
United States Trade Representative estimates that the U.S. exports supported 11.3 million jobs in
2013. This clearly demonstrates how exports through free trade is beneficial to the U.S. economy.
Evidence also shows that free trade stimulates a chain of growth in the economy because as
economy becomes better as an effect of free trade, spending in the market increases, increasing
demand. This results

affecting lipase enzymes responsible for fat absorption. It helped many people lose weight along
with good dieting regime, but it s side effects include abdomen discomfort, diarrhea, and the
inability to absorb a lot of important fat soluble vitamins and other nutrients.
Alli is a lighter version of Xenical with the same side effects and many medical professionals

Chase’s Strategy for Syndicating the Hong Kong Dis
FINA 3088 Case Study 1 Chase s Strategy for Syndicating the Hong Kong Disneyland Loan (A) (B)
Bid Strategy of the First Round
The first round bid was to show its commitment and price, while detailed proposal would be
submitted after being shortlisted. Thus, Chase had mainly three kinds of concern at that stage: risk,
profit and reputation.
Reputation
From Exhibit 6, there is no doubt that Chase was the top bank in syndicated finance in the US and
over the world. However, it recorded limited performance in Asian market though Chase had put
numerous resources into its global group. At the same time, Chase was among Disney s top
relationship banks and Disney as well as its project in Hong Kong had a noticeable market signal. ...

Although Chase argued that this term is rarely invoked and in Asia they have never invoked it,
Disney was paying for a fully underwritten deal expressly to avoid syndication risk, especially the
amount of the loan. If the syndication amount suddenly changes in the economy crises, it may
bring serious trouble to the Disney s operation and financial stability. At the same time, if the price
were to increase dramatically, it would be a high burden for Disney to pay the interest.
Since Disney is one of the large clients, Chase may have to do some amendments to smooth the
negotiation process. As chase, to remove or alter the rights to change the amount of the syndication
may be acceptable as most of the loan have been assigned to other banks. However, some flexibility
in terms of the pricing must be guaranteed to ensure the profitability of Chase in some certain
economy downturn.
Syndication Strategy for the loan
We now discuss the syndication strategy in terms of the following components:
Number of Tiers fewer tiers
It can be argued that more tiers can increase the number of banks to involve, thus

Online Shopping And The Future Of All Business
Popularized by websites like Amazon and eBay. Online shopping and the virtual store may be
the future of all business. Online shoppers spent an estimated 126 billion in the U.S. alone in
2013. Seeing exponential growth in coming years, Many major retailers have already made
efforts to set up online shops. Retail juggernauts like Walmart and Target have thrown their hats
into the online arena with websites of their own. Many more entrepreneurs have begun creating
entire businesses online. The reasons to take your company digital may be plentiful. As more of
the world gains access to the internet even more markets become accessible. With the advent of
drone technology and better delivery methods online sales and logistics are becoming easier and
more cost efficient. Also online stores and warehouses require less manpower making them
cheaper. But a major impact of this growth is the decline in recent years of big box retailers and
subsequently the fall of The Mall . As more consumers choose to do their shopping online many
retailers and shopping centers are being left behind. As the number of failing malls begin to rise
and consumers choose in larger numbers to forgo the lines and do their shopping online, it is a
trend that we predict will grow in importance and impact in the coming years. So in this paper we
will discuss online retail and e commerce as a whole. We will look at it s history and current
impact. Then we will make some predictions

True Love In Shakespeare s Romeo And Juliet
Romeo and Juliet Love Actually The concept of love is one of the most important aspects of human
nature throughout popular culture today, literature, theatre, art, and music, people consistently
ponder the nature and concept of love. Romeo and Juliet, the most famous love story in literature,
written by William Shakespearein the Elizabethan period centuries ago, muses and comments on the
concept of love. Shakespeare personifies love in multiple instances: sexual love, unrequited love,
courtly love, Platonic love, and true romantic love. In the most empirical sense, the diversity in love
is seen in the play via intercharacter relationships, actions, and thoughts. The sexual love shown in
the play can be directly taken from Mercutio,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Their passion, a passion that would rather have them die than be without the other, is conveyed
thru multiple literary methods. Initially, their lustful encounter seems quite trivial, but the
development into true love signifies the difference between a regular lustful relationship.
Firstly, the obvious contrast between courtly love with Rosaline and true passionate love with
Juliet convincingly develops the bond between Romeo and Juliet. The love at first sight that
they experience signals the first step towards Shakespearean true love: Did my heart love till
now? Forswear it, sight! / For I ne er saw true beauty till this night, (I.V.51 52). This implies that
the short lived obsession with Rosaline is nothing in comparison to the emotions he is now
feeling. Romeo describes Juliet more as an object of true beauty, signalling that any other
woman he has seen before is not truly beautiful not like this type of beauty. Romeo then becomes
more committed and passionate as he continues his relationship with Juliet: after the wedding
night, he is so consumed by love that he says that he will risk death to stay with her just a while
longer. I have more care to stay than will to go; / Come, death, and welcome! Juliet wills it so.
/ How is t, my soul? Let s talk it is not day, (III.V.23 25). Among the storytelling that Shakespeare
uses to convey the sincerity of Romeo and Juliet s true feelings and true love, the stark literary
decisions can show the contrast in feelings that separates them from the other types of love. The use
of iambic pentameter and sonnets play a penultimate role in showing the contrast in feelings
between the courtly love and the real, true love they share. When Romeo and Juliet first meet, they
speak in sonnets showing the connection between the couple. They can finish

Catcher In The Rye Narrative Analysis
In Salinger s The Catcher in the Rye, Salinger creates a unique narration through the way Holden
speaks. In The Catcher in the Rye, Salinger reveals the inner Holden Caufield through the style
of Salinger s writing. Salinger writes the book as if Holden Caulfield speaks directly through the
reader, like a kid telling a story to his friends. Like with most conversations, there is more to infer
from not only the speaker says, but also how the speaker says it. In the book, readers can infer that
Holden is much more than a cynical kid. In reality, he is too affectionate and very emotional (76),
much like his little sister Phoebe. As Holden Caufield relives his story through his storytelling, he
frequently criticizes the people and the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the end, Holden even confesses that he misses everybody, and Salinger s old sport titles
confirms that Holden speaks the truth. Another aspect of Salinger s writing that is significant to
Holden s voice is Holden s vocabulary. Holden even states it himself: he has a lousy vocabulary
(11) and most of it consists of profanities and swear words. In part, Salinger creates a teenage
tone to Holden s voice through the mass amount of profanities in the writing. Most mature adult
characters in the book use vulgar words little to none, and all the children in the book do not
even know any swear words. Only the characters close to Holden s age and maturity levels swear
like Holden. In addition, Salinger also creates a feeling of separation between Holden and the
adults through the differences in the amount of profanities the characters speak. More than once
someone more mature tells Holden to [s]top swearing (191) and to [w]atch [his] language (80).
Despite all the complaints, Holden keeps on swearing throughout the whole novel. In a way,
Salinger creates a rebellious streak to Holden a way that he will not stop swearing even when the
adults tell him to stop. Yet, Holden can feel it himself when something is not right when it comes to
profanities. When childlike identities mix with profanities, Holden feels uncomfortable. He hates

Big Trouble in Little Baltimore
The past one hundred and fifty years of Baltimore s history have included many turbulent
fluctuations in the way the city manages to thrive during the vast changes in how consumer related
products are manufactured. One of the most important ingredients to the city s prosperity is in a
mineral called chromite. Chromite is typically found in acidic soil along with serpentinite rock, a
dark green brittle rock in the soapstone family. During the late nineteenth century, chromite
suddenly became a hot commodity as it was discovered in abundance on what is now a federally
protected reserve called Soldier s Delight, located just northwest of BaltimoreCity. At that time, the
land was ripe for mining and chromite was found to be very versatile in the manufacturing of many
items that were, at that time, unavailable like yellow and red paint, tanned leather, bricks for firing
kilns, and, the most valuable use of all, chrome. The mining operation at Soldier s Delight suddenly
went full throttle during the early part of the twentieth century and Baltimore was seated in the
perfect location for transporting these new products to places all over the world due to its
connection to the Chesapeake Bay. However, the processing plant that received the mined chromite
was not conscientious enough with the oxidized discharge from the chromite and allowed it to seep
into the soil beneath the plant and enter into the groundwater. The effects were not known at the
time, but the plant was doing the

Bayesian Evidence Synthesis and Decision Modeling for Non Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease
Summary
The World Gastroenterology Organization (WGO) has recently declared NALFD as most
common cause of liver disease. Obesity is an increasing problem not only in the UK but
worldwide. An estimated 26% of the adults in the UK are considered to be obese 1, 2. Obesity
induced metabolic syndrome may lead to NAFLD, which can progress to Nonalcoholic
Steatohepatitis (NASH), and in turn to advanced fibrosis and an increased risk of Hepatocellular
Carcinoma (HCC) 2, 3.
Background
Recent increases in the prevalence of obesity induced metabolic syndrome (MetS) resulted in an
upsurge in the global incidences of both Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) ... Show more

Apart from their clinical implications, the current economic burden of NAFLD/NASH on the health
care system is substantial. A recent study analyzed outpatient resource utilization in the United
States (US) observed an increase in annual inflation adjusted total NAFLD/NASH outpatient
charges from $2,624 in 2005 to $5,132 in 2010 7. A simulation study estimated $103 billion
($1,613 per patient) annual direct medical cost attributed to NAFLD, which further increased to
$189 billion upon including societal cost 8. In the UK, the total annual cost of NAFLD is
estimated to be ВЈ31.26 billion, of which, ВЈ5.24 billion is in direct cost 8. With the manifold
health consequences of metabolic syndrome are projected to considerably increase in the next
decade, the clinical and economic burdens of NAFLD/NASH are bound to surge in upcoming years.
Research Problem
NAFLD is the hepatic manifestation of the metabolic syndrome (MetS). However, little is known
about the natural history of NAFLD. Furthermore, the pathophysiological relationships between
MetS and hepatic steatosis is not fully understood. The diagnosis of the MetS involves the
presence of three of the following five risk factors: 1) hyperglycemia (fasting glucose ≥ 100 mg

The majority of mass production generates pollution, which causes climate change.
In an era of fast fashion, mass produced textile waste has continued to grow4.

He was a war hero and spymaster. He was so modest that his memoir did not even state any detail
on his intelligence accomplishments. He was the intelligence chief, and created America s first
spy ring, and that spy ring helped save the revolution. He monitored his spy ring, while also
commanding soldiers and winning military victories. That was what piqued my interest in Ben:
he was a spymaster. I have a huge interest in spies, but, once I looked into the biography of
Benjamin Tallmadge, I realized that spies in modern, American fiction are much more different
than 18th century spying. For one, they say that they gather intelligence, a term that I have not
thought about to be associated when I first think of a modern day spy. Spy crafts developed by
Nathaniel Sackett were also very creative, such as the Trojan egg ( Turn: Washington s Spies ).
Benjamin Tallmadge, Abraham Woodhull, Caleb Brewster, Robert Townsend, Austin Roe,
Jonas Hawkins, and Agent 355 managed the Culper Spy Ring, and I ve learned how they
worked in the 18th century, where spies were hanged for treason and such. I ve come to the
knowledge that the current Central Intelligence Agency may be quite different than the first spy
ring. It can be said that George Washington s Spy Ring set the foundations for spy techniques
that are being used today in the CIA and FBI (DeFord). I ve learned that the books in fiction
portraying spies as undercover agents, trained when they were toddlers, being trained to catch
criminals such as drug dealers or thieves, were very different. I ve never thought of spies having

Evolution Of Superman Film
The posters for each superman film reflect the evolution of superman and filmic technology. Poster
three (man of steel) is most effective for advertising superhero films whereas poster two (
superman 1978) represents the idea of superman and this will be argued with close reference to the
respective Supermanfilmic posters .
The posters for Superman 1978 reflects the evolution of the Superman films to a limited extent as
this film was only the second set of Superman films .Superman (poster 2) also known as Clark Kent
still represents the comical and original idea of superman with the bright red and blue hues on the
costume, typical superhero image. More over the image of superman consisting of mostly good is
still present and represented ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The poster shows a hint of character devepoment from the all good clichГ©d superman to a better
rounded character. This shown by the use of destroyed city6 background and as well as the ray of
sunlight behind superman and the use of a low angle shot that shows the strength of a character.
The usual superman saves the city all by himself notion is abolished in the poster with the use of
fighter jets in the background emphasising san event that is somewhat a national emergency in
which the man steel requires assistance. However poster 3 only show the fact that man of steel
might have become faster ( use of blurred buildings) and is experiencing some type off physical
strain. Which in this case aslo reflects on character development but other than that , the extent in
which poster three reflects on the evolution of Superman is limited.
In terms of filmic technology posters one and two show a limited amount limited comic
technology because of the comical look to the filmic posters. the costume which superman wears
in the second poster is mainly made of ordinary cloth which reiterates simplicity .where as in the
filmic posters for Man of steel show a lot of development in filmic technology as the poster(s)
have more detail. And the man of steel s costume seems of be made out a micro fibre , latex like

Oliver Sacks Musicophilia Summary
In Oliver Sacks Musicophilia, the author shared unique experiences people have had with music
and how these events have affected the brain. Chapter 20, The Kinetic Melody: Parkinson s
Disease and Music Therapy, further explored how music has improved the lives of people with
Parkinson s. Sacks referred to these people as Parkinsonian patients. Therapists have found the
utilization of musichas helped improve the well being of patients.
The first time Oliver Sacks encountered music in a clinical setting was in 1966 at Beth Abraham

state of freedom. According to Sacks, this is because she lacks the ability to initiate such thought.

Everyone knows that African Americans were not truly granted all their rights after slavery ended
in the United States because segregation was created by white people to stop the African
Americans from getting their rights. The United States Supreme Court ruling of 1954 that banned
segregation in public schools was the first step towards the end of segregation and the start of
integration.1 Segregation officially ended in 1964. Additionally, in 1967, the same year in which

Some of the artifacts that define the NSWC PCD culture include the Annual Report Naval
Surface Warfare Center, strategic plan, annual employee survey results and follow on actions,
and display cases in lobbies of buildings across the base, lack of a formal dress code, and flexible

investing in people, equal opportunity. After the annual employee surveys are analyzed the CO
and TD meet with each department to report the results of the survey and the action items the
CO will take to address any problems identified. Special attention is always given to analysis of
demographics and diversity in upward mobility trends. The first female department head took over
the business support department four years ago. In 2014 there were four female department heads
of the six departments. However, there is only one deputy department head at this time, and very
few female division level managers. A total of only six division or branch head positons are held
by women.

Essay on The Fall of the Second Temple
Throughout the history of Judaism, Jewish people have faced ongoing persecution and
discrimination. Despite these conflicts, the faith remains alive, strong, and continuously growing.
Like many religions faced with adversity, Judaism has had to assimilate its faith to survive in an
ever changing world. One significant moment of change in the Jewish history, the fall of the
Second Temple, had the opportunity to destroy Judaism, but the Jewish people bonded together and
reformulated their religion in order to save their faith. The falling of the Second Temple marks a
distinct change in the Jewish faith through the modification of ritual practices to accommodate their
new mobile lifestyle. This change would forever impact the Jewish... Show more content on

Once a faith centered on priesthood, sacrificial rituals, communal gatherings and oral traditions,
the people of the Jewish religion decided to restructure the faith around written scripture.
Although it is argued that rabbis began work on compiling the oral histories prior to the fall of
the Second Temple, there was a marked resurgence in documentation of the important history and
moral laws of Judaism after the fall (Molloy, 291). The Jewish people felt a sense of urgency to
finish the written works. They believed the incorporation of written word into Judaism would help
to solidify their place in the religious world, as well as make the faith easier to correctly interpret
among their own vastly dispersed people (BBC, 2009).
The most important of these written documents is the Hebrew Bible. This bible is composed of the
Torah, Nevi im and Ketuvim, and these three components combine to make up the Tanakh
(Simmons, 83). The Torah is the core of the Hebrew Bible and contains the story of creation, as
well as directions on daily conduct and religious rituals. The Nevi im contains the stories of
prophets. The prophets were people who spoke on behalf of God to the Jewish people. Lastly, the
Ketuvim is composed of mostly imaginative literature such as psalms, proverbs and poetry (Molloy,
294). Shifting the focal point from

Valve Software Essay
INTRODUCTION
Valve software is a successful entertainment and software company with over 300 employees.
Valve software wanted to create a working environment that empowered their employees and gave
them the freedom to be creative. What they have achieved is a very successful company that
operates on a flat structure where there are no managers or supervisors to report to and all
employees are equals. The company tries to keep its structure flat to remove or reduce barriers
between the employees and the customers (Valve steams ahead n.d).

The first 6 months of employment are often crucial in determining how well someone will
perform over the long term (Schermerhorn et al 2011, p.297). Valve admit that without the usual
role of a manager performing checks and appraisals it can take a while to understand if someone
is fitting in and a poor hiring decision if left unchecked could be costly to the company (Handbook
for new employees 2012)
The function of organising involves arranging tasks, people and resources while controlling
involves measuring performance and taking action to ensure results (Schermerhorn et al 2011,
p.20). No one at Valve is actually told what work to do, each desk is on wheels allowing the
employees the freedom to literally move themselves between projects. Employees are able to
decide for themselves how to make the best use of their time and what work they believe is the
most valuable. Valve currently utilise two unbiased methods of evaluating each other Peer reviews
to provide feedback on areas for improvement and stack ranking to determine suitable
compensation. (Handbook for new employees 2012)
The final function of management is leadership. Great leaders get extraordinary things done in
organisations by inspiring and motivating others towards a common purpose (Schermerhorn et al

Remember the Titans is the perfect movie for Exam 3. It covers many topics that were on the
exam, and this class has given me a different way of looking at the movie. I have seen the movie
many times, but I never looked at it from a management perspective. It now makes sense to me to

Their opponents do not score against them often in the movie.
In the movie, Coach Boone is a master motivator. He does an excellent job of energizing his
players, sustaining the motivation, directing the motivation to the right players at the right time,
and also knowing when to stop motivating. The satisfaction progression hypothesis is also
displayed in the movie. Coach Boone knows that the small things, such as making the routine
plays in the game, must be done first before the main goal can be achieved, winning the game.
He also has a high expectancy of his team. He believes that the effort of his team will lead to
performance and that the performance will lead to results. He expects his team to practice just as
hard as they play in the game. Julius Campbell and Gary Bertier, the two main characters on the
team, are also excellent motivators. They get their teammates pumped up before and during the
game.
As with most sports teams, the Titans have an autocratic leadership style. Coach Boone is the one
and only person who makes the decisions, he is the main man in charge. The style is productive,
and the team wins games. Although he has assistant coaches, such as Bill Yoast who is the
defensive coordinator, all the decisions must go through Coach Boone first. The democratic
leadership style is not applicable on a football team because that s why teams have coaches. The
team does not make group decisions. Coach Boone also uses Job Enlargement in Remember the

A Woman s Prison By Henrik Ibsen Essay
A Woman s Prison
Ibsen s pla y, A Doll s House immediately encountered a spectrum of reactions ranging from strong
support to harsh criticism following its premier in 1879. Controversy came about over Nora s role
as an independent woman who makes her own decisions. The public s immediate response to Ibsen
s play reflects the shift occurring within society, centered on gender roles and women s place in the
mid to late 19th century. Ibsen s portrayal of women through Nora s role explores the ideas of
equality within marriage as well as women s individualism and their role within society.
Nora s character acts as a catalyst for Ibsen to portray women s standing as compared to their
male counterparts in different areas of society the home, marriage, workplace and in public
business. Through Ibsen s characterization of Nora, he explores these major themes of
controversy and pivotal change during the 1920 s. While Ibsen carefully refrains from
interjecting his own opinion, he successfully provides an accurate depiction of the power divide
in the household during the mid to late 19th century through his portrayal of Nora. Today s
marriages, known as a partnership between equals was once not regarded as equal at all. During
the 1920 s women held a rank below their husbands. Essentially, women were a pawn, leaving the
ownership of their father to be handed off to their husband. Nora explains the situation best stating:
I was simply transferred from Papa s hands to yours. You

The Change in the Nazis Treatment of the Jews Why did the Nazis treatment of the Jews change

why the Nazis treatment of the Jews changed was that the Nazi leaders had become much more

When war broke out in 1939 it became more difficult to send Jews to other countries. With the

Because the Nazi regional leaders disliked the ghetto solution the Nazis had to consider other
options with which to solve the Jewish question. The Nazi leaders were not concerned with the

bitterly about the number of Jews being forced into constricted areas. At some point during 1941
the advantages of a programme of mass killings of Jews was therefore beginning to be favoured
by the Nazis over the mass expulsion from the Jews from Europe. From October 1941 large
numbers of Jews were sent from Germany to particular parts of towns (ghettos) In Poland.
Living conditions in most of the ghettos were horrible. Malnutrition was widespread and death
by starvation was a daily occurrence. Starving the Jews to death was cheaper than shooting them
and all available foods and other survival necessities were needed at the front for military
personnel. Between 1941 and 1942, 20 percent of the population in the Warsaw and Lodz ghettos

Horse Power Farm Video Analysis
The three videos I choose to watch were Horse Power Farm, Lakeside Orchards, and Ayotte Farm.
Horse Power Farm is located in Penobscot, Maine and owned by Paul Birdsall. The distinguishing
features are on the farm s focus for producing vegetables and timber, and relying on their horses
instead of machinery. Paul s farmis specifically a mixed practice as they do have a tractor, but draft
horses are the key component. Another unique aspect of this farm is that as Paul said, training
apprentices is the most important thing they do. Without the apprentices help, they are limited in
the amount of work they can get done. Lakeside Orchards is located in Kennebec County and is
owned by Steve and Marilyn Meyerhans. They also own The Apple Farm located in Fairfield,

sunspots counts in a cycle. The graph shows every 11 or 10 years average we get a max of

Jeremy Bentham created an algorithm to determine the degree or amount of pleasure that a
specific action is likely to cause. He called this Hedonic Calculus and it was divided into seven
different categories. Bentham based this calculation off of intensity, or the strength of the
pleasure, duration or how long the pleasure will last, certainty or how likely it is pleasure will
occur, propinquity or how soon the pleasure will occur, fecundity or the likeliness it will be
followed by pleasures, purity or probability that feelings of the opposite will occur, and extent or

these categories to determine the ethical standing of the engineers responsible for the Titanic.
When analyzing this disaster the first thing to consider is the engineer s design of the Titanic.
The Titanic was employing many new and innovative designs that were believed to make the
Titanic the safest ship ever built at that time. The engineer s of the vessel made claims that the

Energy Detection Based Spectrum Sensing Method
In energy detector, the received signal is first filtered with a band pass filter in bandwidth to
normalize the noise variance and to limit the noise power. The output signal is then squared and
integrated as follows: for each in phase or quadrature component, a number of samples over a
time interval are squared and summed. The conventional energy detection method assumes that
the primary user signal is either absent or present and the performance degrades when the
primary user is absent and then suddenly appears during the sensing time. An adaptive method
to improve the performance of Energy detection based spectrum sensing method is proposed .In
this proposal, a side detector is used which continuously monitor the spectrum so as to improve
the probability of detection. The Primary user uses a QPSK signal with a 200 kHz band pass
bandwidth (BW). The sampling frequency is 8 times the signal BW. A 1024 point FFT is used to
calculate the received signal energy. Simulation results showed that when primary users appear
during the sensing time, the conventional energy detector has lower probability of detection as
compared to the proposed detector. The performance of energy detector is characterized by
Receiver Operating curves usually. AOC (Area under the Receiver Operating curves) is used to
analyze the performance of the energy detector method over Nakagami fading channels. Results

Strict Constructionist Dbq
When it comes to the understanding of the Constitution, Jeffersonian Republicans are generally
characterized as strict constructionists who were opposed to the broad constructionism of the
Federalists. This characterization however, fails to take into account the complexities of the
domestic and foreign policies supported during the presidencies of Jefferson and Madison, as well
as ideas held by the Federalists support the idea that they supported some principles of a strict
constitutional interpretation when it suited their cause. Between 1801 and 1817 it is clear to see
that both parties to some extent crossed their political lines when it was the best way to achieve
their political agendas. On August 13th 1800, before his election Thomas Jeffersonwrote to Gideon
Granger, a future member of Jefferson s cabinet, about taking down the Federalists, protecting the
state s rights, and that the Constitution is the wisest piece of political literature to address the needs
of such a varying and diverse nation(Doc. A). Thomas Jefferson was the Third president of the
United States, the primary author of the Declaration of independence, and believed that America
should grow as an agrarian nation with a limited central government and strong state governments.

sort of freak. If her mother did not talk about her condition and just talked about her characteristics
or other things then people would just probably look past her condition more easily and accept her

The Origins and History of Yoga
The origins of yoga date back to India over 5,000 years ago. The Vedas, holy writings that are the
foundation for Hinduism, possess ancient yoga teachings known as Vedic Yoga. Individuals
became reliant on Vedic yoga to live their life in divine harmony.
The period of Pre classical Yoga coincides with the development of the Upanishads. The Upanishads
fortified the writings of the Vedas, therefore strengthening the practice of yoga. The history of yoga
has been widely associated with not only Hinduism but Buddhism as well. Siddharta Gautama,
the enlightened one, founder of Buddhism understood the benefits that yoga provided for
meditation. The goal of Buddhism is to find inner peace, which yoga assisted in. In other
regions, the ruins of the immense cities of Mohenjo Daro and Harappa, depictions have been
found engraved on soapstone seals that strongly resemble figures of yoga poses. Bhavagad Gita,
is the earliest known yoga scripture dated back to around 500 B.C. The Gita is dedicated entirely
to yoga, its main aim is that to be alive means to be active and in order to avoid difficulties in our
lives and in others, our actions have to benign and have to exceed our egos. Its connection to the
Upanishads is paralleled to the relationship between the Vedas and Upanishads, strengthening each
other s meaning. The classical period marks the establishment of the Yoga Sutra. Written by
Patanjali, around the second century, with the purpose to clarify and standardize

Examples Of Integrity In Goodnight And Goodluck
After watching the movie Goodnight and Goodluck directed by George Clooney I think the most
important aspect for present day communicators to carry into their work is integrity. I think
integrity is important because it is a value that shows your character and personality. During the
movie Murrow developed his character by consistently being honest with others and himself.
Edward Murrow shows integrity quite often. For example, when McCathy starts making false
accusations, Murrow stands up in front of the camera and defends himself by stating facts to prove
his innocence. McCarthy claimed that Murrow had ties to communism saying that he was on the
soviet pay role in 1932 and that he is a card carrying member for the international industrial

The Importance Of A Good Society Is Not Achieved By Chance...
The quantitative analysis of the merit of a society is one very multifaceted and complex task;
however, one truth remains certain: a good society is not achieved by chance or by default. Each
and every successful society has succeeded because at a certain point, members of the society acted
collectively to create structure and organization. Universities and institutions, transportation
networks, and public healthcare, are all structures that have been put in place to help individuals
succeed in various areas. From Travels of a T shirt in the Global Economy, it is evident that
without necessary trade, negotiations, and boundaries, the millions of T shirts produced would not
be able to flow across global communities, bringing alongside them countless job opportunities,
more effective governance systems, and enhanced research and innovations. Clearly, one of the key
aspects of a good functioning society is the establishment of good and effective structures. While
the best form of that structure can be debated, the fact that a good society needs structure and
organization is a fixed and fundamental condition. In order for this structure to provide a
foundation of a good society, there are a few other conditions that must follow among them are
attentiveness to all members of the society, commitment to universal values, and flexibility to
change and adapt. In addition to structure, a good society is one that works to help all members
thrive, especially individuals at the

The uses and gratification theory argues that consumers of a given media uses this media to satisfy and fulfill specific desires and needs. Romeo and Juliet, the most famous love story in literature, written by William Shakespearein the Elizabethan period centuries ago, muses and comments on the concept of love. Shakespeare personifies love in multiple instances: sexual love, unrequited love, courtly love, Platonic love, and true romantic love. Their passion, a passion that would rather have them die than be without the other, is conveyed thru multiple literary methods. Initially, their lustful encounter seems quite trivial, but the development into true love signifies the difference between a regular lustful relationship. Firstly, the obvious contrast between courtly love with Rosaline and true passionate love with Juliet convincingly develops the bond between Romeo and Juliet. The love at first sight that they experience signals the first step towards Shakespearean true love: Did my heart love till now? Forswear it, sight! / For I ne er saw true beauty till this night, (I.V.51 52). This implies that the short lived obsession with Rosaline is nothing in comparison to the emotions he is now feeling. Romeo describes Juliet more as an object of true beauty, signalling that any other woman he has seen before is not truly beautiful not like this type of beauty. Romeo then becomes more committed and passionate as he continues his relationship with Juliet: after the wedding night, he is so consumed by love that he says that he will risk death to stay with her just a while longer. I have more care to stay than will to go; / Come, death, and welcome! Juliet wills it so. / How is t, my soul? Let s talk it is not day, (III.V.23 25). Among the storytelling that Shakespeare uses to convey the sincerity of Romeo and Juliet s true feelings and true love, the stark literary decisions can show the contrast in feelings that separates them from the other types of love. One of the most important ingredients to the city s prosperity is in a mineral called chromite. Chromite is typically found in acidic soil along with serpentinite rock, a dark green brittle rock in the soapstone family. One significant moment of change in the Jewish history, the fall of the Second Temple, had the opportunity to destroy Judaism, but the Jewish people bonded together and reformulated their religion in order to save their faith. Once a faith centered on priesthood, sacrificial rituals, communal gatherings and oral traditions, the people of the Jewish religion decided to restructure the faith around written scripture. Although it is argued that rabbis began work on compiling the oral histories prior to the fall of the Second Temple, there was a marked resurgence in documentation of the important history and moral laws of Judaism after the fall (Molloy, 291). The Jewish people felt a sense of urgency to finish the written works. They believed the incorporation of written word into Judaism would help to solidify their place in the religious world, as well as make the faith easier to correctly interpret among their own vastly dispersed people (BBC, 2009). The most important of these written documents is the Hebrew Bible. This bible is composed of the Torah, Nevi im and Ketuvim, and these three components combine to make up the Tanakh (Simmons, 83). The Torah is the core of the Hebrew Bible and contains the story of creation, as well as directions on daily conduct and religious rituals. The Nevi im contains the stories of prophets. A Woman s Prison By Henrik Ibsen Essay A Woman s Prison Ibsen s pla y, A Doll s House immediately encountered a spectrum of reactions ranging from strong support to harsh criticism following its premier in 1879. Controversy came about over Nora s role as an independent woman who makes her own decisions. The public s immediate response to Ibsen s play reflects the shift occurring within society, centered on gender roles and women s place in the mid to late 19th century. Ibsen s portrayal of women through Nora s role explores the ideas of equality within marriage as well as women s individualism and their role within society. Nora s character acts as a catalyst for Ibsen to portray women s standing as compared to their male counterparts in different areas of society the home, marriage, workplace and in public business. Through Ibsen s characterization of Nora, he explores these major themes of controversy and pivotal change during the 1920 s. While Ibsen carefully refrains from interjecting his own opinion, he successfully provides an accurate depiction of the power divide in the household during the mid to late 19th century through his portrayal of Nora. Today s marriages, known as a partnership between equals was once not regarded as equal at all. During the 1920 s women held a rank below their husbands. Essentially, women were a pawn, leaving the ownership of their father to be handed off to their husband. Nora explains the situation best stating: I was simply transferred from Papa s hands to yours. Energy Detection Based Spectrum Sensing Method In energy detector, the received signal is first filtered with a band pass filter in bandwidth to normalize the noise variance and to limit the noise power. The output signal is then squared and integrated as follows: for each in phase or quadrature component, a number of samples over a time interval are squared and summed. The conventional energy detection method assumes that the primary user signal is either absent or present and the performance degrades when the primary user is absent and then suddenly appears during the sensing time. An adaptive method to improve the performance of Energy detection based spectrum sensing method is proposed .In this proposal, a side detector is used which continuously monitor the spectrum so as to improve the probability of detection.
