One Man s Journey to Heaven in the Book Leaf by Niggle...
One Man s Journey to Heaven The story Leaf by Niggle by J.R.R. Tolkien is a story of allegory,
and with good use of metaphors shows what our religious journey on earth to heaven could be.
The story used allegory which is metaphors for the characters and places used in the story. It start
with a man named Niggle, who is going on a trip, but wants to finish his painting before he goes.
Once we read the entire story it becomes clear that it is an allegorical story. The main character
in the story is Niggle. He is a painter; however he is not a successful painter. He is very nervous
and not sure about going on his journey. Niggle is very kind and feels the need to help others,
even when he feels it is annoying at the time. Niggle lives in a country that has rules about
needing to help each others neighbors, so Niggle is forced by an inspector to help his neighbor
Parish, even though he doesn t care much for him. The metaphors used in Niggle s story of the
people he meets and where he goes, it is easy to see that the story represents a mans life of his
path to purgatory and death. The symbolism seems likely, especially to Catholics and their belief
in purgatory. In his idea of a painting, he sees a large tree with leaves and mountains. He wants
more than anything to paint what he sees; however, he is continually bothered by his neighbor, a
man named Parish. He procrastinated for his journey by keeping himself very busy with his
painting and helping his

Analysis Of The Movie The Cheeks Were Red
Long before Woody Allen s jasmine was blue, his cheeks were red over an allegation about a
midnight not in Paris, but in his attic. He was called an irrational man within the halls of his own
home in Manhattan, putting Allen in a new kind of spotlight. After ending his twelve year
relationship with Mia Farrow, accusations arose claiming that Mr. Allen had molested the couples
adopted daughter Dylan when she was seven. However, despite the precarious circumstances in
which the allegations arose, both sides continue to maintain their respective arguments. Mr. Allen
objects to said accusations, claiming he is innocent. Mia, on the opposing side, is in defense of
Dylan (now thirty) who did not speak on the issue publicly until February of 2014... Show more

Even though the accusation were ludicrous in nature Mia pushed and charges were being sought
for Woody Allen. A progression of police investigations followed, in which the Connecticut Police
enlisted the help of the Child Sexual Abuse Clinic of the Yale New Haven Hospital. After
evaluating all parties involved they summed up their conclusions by making a public statement
that follows thus; It is our expert opinion that Dylan was not sexually abused by Mr. Allen.
Further, we believe that Dylan s statements on videotape and her statements to us during our
evaluation do not refer to actual events that occurred to her on August 4th, 1992 (Allen). Due to
these finding Mr. Allen was not charged with any crimes, but found the judge irresponsible for
his verdict of we will probably never know what occurred (Allen). As a result of the scandal, Mr.
Allen lost custody of his children. Twenty years after the accusations, Dylan Farrow makes her
first public comment on the incident in an open letter published in The New York Times. In the
letter she states her firm belief that Mr. Allen is guilty, in addition she shames many celebrities by
name for continuing to work with Woody Allen. In response to this letter; Woody Allen published
his own open letter in The New York Times. He

The Life Of Marguerite Johnson
Marguerite Johnson was known for many different attributes in her life. She was a poem writer ,
writer of stories , producer , director , actor and many more different things that gave her the
opportunity in life to be as a known legend. Born in St. Louis, Missouri on April 4,1928 to her
parents Bailey Johnson and Vivian Baxter Johnson. This was just the beginning on her
adventurous lifestyle. Her parents had come upon an agreement to part their separate ways in
life. When deciding this they also agreed that it was best for their children to live with her
grandmother Annie Henderson. Moving to Rural Stamps, Arkansas her brother Bailey had
given Marguerite a nickname Maya . (noteablebiograophies.com) Living with her grandmother ,
she gained so much confidence and pride. Her grandmother was the one to show her how to live
with her self and be content with it. Visiting her mother back to her home town St. Louis,
Missouri she was raped by her mother s boyfriend. Maya testified against him which was very
hard on her since she was only an eight year old. Her uncles beat the offender to death. Maya felt
as if she killed him because of the statements she testified against him. Feeling this way she
became silent for five consecutive years She attended public schools in Arkansas. Her and her
brother Bailey joined her mother in California to continue the schooling career. In 1942 her teacher
Ms. Bertha Flowers helped Maya to talk again and encouraged her to continue to write the

Nextgen
What is NextGen? NextGen is not just one particular project or aspect. Instead, it is a wide range
of changes improvements, and implementations created by the Federal Aviation Administration
(FAA) and its partners that are designed to improve and make air travel more efficient and safer
today and in the years to come. NextGen has the ability to save air carriers money by reducing fuel
costs via shortened and more direct routes.
NextGen is the overall modernization of the National Airspace System (NAS) that provides
benefits to the air carrier and to the consumers/passengers in that it allows for flights to depart on
time, arrive on time (or ahead of schedule), decreases the EPA emissions, thus helping to save the
environment, and allows ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

will then disseminate the information as applicable to the user requesting it, as seen in Figure 2.
For an example, when a user interfaces with an application appropriate to their role in the airspace
system, e.g., controller, dispatcher, pilot, or maintenance coordinator. Each user identifies themself
to the system through the application or through a centralized system sign on. That user s ability to

Analysis of Judith H. DobrzynskiВґs High Culture Goes...
Judith H. Dobrzynski s article, High Culture Goes Hands On, suggests that the museums current
trend of providing visitors with an experience threatens the current model of providing solace and
inspiration (Dobrzynski 3). However, I disagree with this conclusion. Interactive experiences and
contemplative approaches can co exist just so long as museums adjust in response to how our ever
evolving culture receives it. Transitioning from museums elitist paradigm is critical to creating a
more accessible community conscious design. Dobrzynski, on the other hand, views these
differences as shedding the very characteristics that made [art museums] so special (1), a
pessimistic sentiment that shows her contempt towards development.
Before we can assess the roles of a museum, what exactly is the institution? Didier Maleuvre
explains museums as, devoted to the protection, preservation, exhibition, and furtherance of what a
community agrees to identify as works of art (Maleuvre 9). As we develop new modes of interaction
and technological advancements, are museums that provide interactive experiences and art works
not included in this explanation? I certainly do not think so. Audience engagement should not be
feared but promoted; the trouble, though, is finding the right balance. Maleuvre also believes that it
was the museum s responsibility to challenge the status quo, and its own cultural identity, which,
provides further cause for change as museums have moved away from

I Want To Be Miss America
A defining moment is a point at which a situation is clearly seen to start a change. Defining
moments can happen at any point in one s life. In class we read multiple of stories with different
defining moments. The two that stuck out to me were I Want to Be Miss America and Here s
Herbie . In I Want to Be Miss America , the defining moment came late for the two girls. Every
year they would watch the Miss America beauty pageant with their parents and strive and wish to
look american. So we painstakingly rolled our long, curly hair round and round, using our heads as
giant roller, ironing it until we had long, shining hanks, like our classmates and the contestants, only
darker. (92) They just wanted to fit in and to them that meant they needed to... Show more content

In the story Here s Herbie , Mike always wanted to look out the front window of the train but was
scared of what others would think of him. He didn t want to look like a little kid. When I was
fifteen, I didn t want to seem like I was six. (156) I wanted to look out the front of the train but I
never would, so a terrible tug of war took place in my mind. (156). It wasn t until one day, he
meet a kid on the train who didn t care what other thought of him. His name being Herbie. He
walked right onto the train, without hesitation, pulled out a steering wheel and stuck it to that
front window. He was not driving the train. At first being embarrassed for Herbie, he soon
realized that they weren t that much different. They both had their problems. On the train ride
home, he walked into the first car again. My life is a total cesspool anyhow, and here I am life is
passing me by, there are millions of things I want to do, and I never do them. I m just gonna do it.

William the Holy Conqueror
Even though William the Conqueror descended from a line of Vikings who had lived in France
for over 200 years, William had more of an impact on the English language than the majority of
influential English born people of the time. The French speaking Normans brought a whole new
vocabulary to England, whose language was closely related to German. (Barlow 8). He even
introduced the Norman legacy of building castles, including the Tower of London. Although he is
most well known for the Norman invasion of 1066 that overthrew the Anglo Saxon reign which
had lasted for over six centuries, William was a very religious man. He was moral and righteous
by the standards of the time, and devoted much of his time to the Norman church. William was
born in 1028 and was the only son of Duke Robert I of Normandywho later died on a voyage to
Jerusalem. After his father s death in 1035, he was knighted at the age of fifteen and the Norman
magnates accepted William as duke even though he was an illegitimate child; he was actually
known as William the Bastard. This caused William serious problems later in life and he had to
overcome several massive obstacles one of which was surviving numerous rebellions; which his
mother somehow got him through. William relied heavily on King Henry I of France for
protection. He faced substantial difficulty maintaining control over Normandy but by his early
twenties he emerged a powerful leader. William then gathered an army to protect his estate. He

The Health Status Of Rural Populations Essay
Historically, health care professionals believed rural populations had a health advantage. They
frequently sent tuberculosis patients and others into the country for fresh air and a change of
scenery (Lourenço 2012). However, as the scientific understanding of disease expanded and
urban population and political power grew, these advantages diminished. Today, staggering
disparities exist across the globe in the health status of rural populations compared to their urban
counterparts, both between and within every country, making this a truly global issue. As is the
case with many other global health issues, developing countries experience these inequalities with
greater severity due to a lack of infrastructure and resources, especially when considering maternal
and infant health. For example, in Burundi, as of 2014, the urban infant mortality rate was 49
deaths per 1000 live births, while the rural infant mortality rate was 81. In 2014, Laos had an
urban infant mortality rate of 39 but a rural infant mortality rate of 85. Finally, in Bolivia in 2014,
the urban infant mortality rate was 43 while the rural mortality rate was 75 (PopulationReference
Bureau 2014). These data demonstrate the dramatic inequity between urban and rural areas and
indicate disparate access to health care for women and children. Action must be taken to alleviate
these disparities in developing countries with regards to maternal and infant health. The global
health community must first collaborate to

Alexander The Great, Son Of Philip II Of Macedon
Alexander the Great, son of Philip II of Macedon is one of history s most controversial figures in
relation to his character and methodology. His legacy is a subject still discussed and assessed by
many scholars, as it is one that has left its mark on the Ancient World and its stigma, positive or
negative, is still felt today around the world. However, there is no controversy that Alexander
was an individual with a plethora of abilities and traits that understood and assessed situations,
and his risky, yet mostly calculated actions helped him establish his title of being considered
Great . His legacy and greatness undoubtedly extend from his mighty military campaigns and his
his glorification during and after his death, as well as his potential administration ideals, and his
being the catalyst for the foundation of the Hellenistic era. In his short, yet astonishing career,
Alexander managed to defeat the Persian empire, a superpower forty two times the size of the
united Greece he led. There is no controversy about Alexander s military genius and Burn says no
soldier in history is more indisputably great than Alexander. He started, of course, with the
advantage of Philip s army and he did have a number of reverses, such as the march through the
Gedrosian Desert. His genius, however, is apparent in every aspect of warfare and in every
military undertaking between those of the Granicus and Hydaspes River. He was able to modify

Between the times when the United States declared its independent from Great Britain until WWI,
the US isolated itself from the rest of the world (Brinkley 604). This had all changed right after
WWI where we became much more involve in the world, taking on lead roles in all international
events or international crisis, for example the Vietnam war, the Persian Gulf war, and last but not
least the recent war Afghanistan and Iraq; which still continues today. Today the United States

This week s article review is taken from Ubiquity, an ACM IT Magazine and forum. The article
is The New Economy: Are Rules Irrelevant? by Daniel W. Uhlfelder, Esq. In this article it is
discussed how the new economy of the Internet move forward and enact laws that would be
beneficial to all parties involved. This will be hard if not impossible because the Internet can cross
boundaries where laws could not cross. The each country and each region uphold and maintain

determine what laws, regulations, taxation or other concerns apply. As crimes are committed our

It is now important to know the different laws and develop new laws by which these new
relationships interact. The key is to understand the different laws and how they are used, where
and how should they be enforced and how to protect our interests and the interest of others and
how we can use and develop laws to the best advantage of society. According to Daniel W.
Uhlefelder
Security, Internet taxation, electronic signatures, privacy, copyright, minority, small business
development, and contract formation in cyberspace: These are just a few of the important legal
issues members of the new economy are going to face. (Uhlfelder, 2000)
Laws relating to our worldwide commerce are going to be needed to avoid ciaos in our economic
society. If we cannot keep up with these changes, then there may be ill effects to our society and
economy. Federal Trade Commission Chairman Robert Pitofsky reminds us that when enacting
laws we must remember:
Protect the marketplace, and don t undermine the incentives for innovation. And that is what this is
about. The incentives for innovation seem to be very important in this area. On the other hand, you
don t want people taking advantage of the fact that claming that В‘Well, We re high tech. The
antitrust laws don t apply to us. That is not an acceptable defense. (Uhlfelder, 2000)

Introduction Inside of each body contains two kidneys which are bean shaped, and are found on
the right and are found on the right and left sides of our body. Kidneys filter all the blood in the
body which ends up making urine and removing wastes. The kidneys also release and retain water.
The excretory system consists of the kidneys, ureters, urethra, and urinary bladder. Each kidney
processes urine out into the bladder, through the ureter tubes. The kidneys maintain acid base and
the balance of ions and electrolytes in the blood so the body maintains homeostasis. Blood enters

Kidney injuries happen fast, serum creatinine levels will be elevated along with a low urine

by low renal perfusion. Intrinsic renal is damage to the glomeruli and renal tubes. Pre renal
causes depleted blood flow to the kidney and lowers the glomerular filtration rate. Pre renal
symptoms are blood and fluid loss, and hemorrhaging. Blood pressure medications also can
cause pre renal disease. Pre renal disease also leads to heart attack, heart disease, liver failure,
severe burns, dehydration, and severe allergic reactions. Intrinsic renal disease causes blood clots
in veins, arteries, blood flow in and kidneys. Cholesterol deposits block blood flow in kidneys.
Toxins such as alcohol, and cocaine also effect the kidney. Intrinsic is direct damage to the kidney.
Post renal disease is mainly from urinary obstructions such as kidney stones and tumors. Prostatic
enlargement is also another form of post renal disease. Post renal kidney injuries include kidney
stones, obstructed urinary catheter, benign prostatic hyperplasia, bladder stones, and cancers of the
bladder, uterus and prostate. Kidney injuries happen fast and the kidneys can lose function as fast
as 2 7 days. Kidney symptoms such as hypotension, kidneys becoming exposed to bad substances,

Cuban Missile Crisis Prime Time Analysis
During times of national crises, television galvanized the country by preempting regular
programming to provide essential coverage of significant events. Memorable examples of this
were seen during the Cuban Missile Crisis, the 14 days in 1962 when the United States and the
Soviet Union squared off over the placement of Russian missiles in Cuba, and the four days
reportage of the assassination and funeral of John F. Kennedy. The same was true with news
coverage of the U.S. space program, especially the Moon landing in July 1969. Films of battlefield
activity in Vietnam, as well as photographs, interviews, and casualty reports, were broadcast daily
from the centres of conflict into American living rooms. As both international and domestic

The escapist fictional fare of prime time made little reference to what was being reported on the
news. That began to change in the late 1960s and early 70s, but the transition was an awkward
one; some shows began to reflect the new cultural landscape, but most continued to ignore it.
That Girl (ABC, 1966 71), an old fashioned show about a single woman living and working in the
big city with the help of her boyfriend and her daddy aired on the same schedule as The Mary
Tyler Moore Show (CBS, 1970 77), a new fashioned comedy about a single woman making it on
her own. In the same week, one could watch The Lawrence Welk Show (ABC, 1955 71), a 15
year old musical variety program that featured a legendary polka band, and Rowan and Martin s
Laugh In (NBC, 1968 73), an irreverent new comedy variety show plugged into the 1960s
counterculture. The 1970 71 season was the last season for a number of series that had defined
the old television landscape, including The Ed Sullivan Show, The Lawrence Welk Show, The
Red Skelton Show, The Andy Williams Show, and Lassie, all of which had been on the air since
the 1950s or earlier. Created by Norman Lear and based loosely on the British sitcom Till Death

What Does Dido Mean In The Aeneid
The lengths people will go to in order to keep the person they love can be extreme. They may
poke a hole in a condom so their partner feels obligated to stay with a baby on the way or make
them feel guilty enough to stay. Virgil explores this idea in the Aeneid using Queen Dido. When
Aeneas is preparing to leave to fulfill his legacy, the Queen tries using anger, their marriage,
manipulation, and guilt tripping as means to keep him in Tyria by her side. In Didos first approach,
she is very irrational and angry. Her first words to him are You even hoped to keep me in the dark
as to this outrage, did you, two faced man, and slip away in silence? (Aeneid397 399) The Queen is
rash and uncaring with her words. Her words mean to keep him there to argue and argue until the
fight has left him and is willing to stay just to stop the fighting. As the argument drags on, she
grows furious and wishes that If divine justice counts for... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though a good marriage is a perfectly reasonable to stay with somebody, Aeneasdoes not
know their relationship as a marriage. In response to her ramblings about their marriage , he says

Wall Street Insanity, Queen Dido is a crazy chick because She clings tightly to truths she s decided
on, even if there s no evidence to support them (Henderson) such as the marriage between her and
Aeneas. When dealing with someone who is slightly unstable like Queen Dido, it is best to not
anger them as Aeneas did with his careless words even though they are true. This method is tried

Theme Of Walang Panginoon
The societal status of man dictates how man behaves, for it is not the actions of man that
determines their character, but on the contrary their social identity that determines their actions. In
a similar effort, (Marx, 1977) asserts that the conflicts in a given society are strictly attributed to the
constant clash of the two opposing units; the wealthy and the downthrodden. Bridging these
philosophies to the short storyof Deogracias Rosario entitled Walang Panginoon , it is evident that
the concept of class struggle impacts the behavior and actions of the characters in the said story. In
relation, the two main characters namely Marcos and Don Teong portray the classic demonstration
of class inequalty between the oppressed proletariat and autocrat plantation owner, respectively.
Supporting the idea of the conflicting concepts of the powerful and the powerless, this piece of
literature mirrors the master slave theme of the world today. In a sense, the novel portrays that
those who have power and wealth were able to deprive the inferior groups of their rights and can
easily manipulate them. Similar to the shortstory, Don Teong represents the dominant force in the

instead he/she will find a way to combat the suggestive force (Capitalism). The death of Don

What is terrorism? That is the question you have to ask yourself to find out what Bill C 51

treating others as lesser beings. So know we ve discussed lets discuss Bill C 51. Bill C 51 states
that police can now arrest without authorization, now what does that inspire, fear. Now they can
share intelligence with the government want does that involve, political advantage. CSIS can use
intelligence to take advantage of terrorists history. You see how the government stops terrorists is
the same method terrorists use to inspire terror. How exactly does the government control
terrorists? Firstly, they now have permission to declare an unjustified arrest on suspected targets.
Now the key word here is suspected, this can mean relation, interaction with offenders, childhood
relationships, birthplace, previous record of law offence, and religion. I mean come on, though
many Canadian citizens are safe from this bill, other innocent people can be arrested for these
charges, and can you really defend a bill that defies up to seven of the eleven clauses of the

Critism in Plato
What is life? This is the one question that to this day still cannot be answered. Over the years
millions of people have had there own interpretation of what is means to live. However the quest to
answer this rhetorical question goes back to the golden days of Greek civilization when the worlds
greatest philosophers first attempted to find the answers to this question. As his position takes form
in the Republic, Platoclaims that only a very few individuals are capable of understanding how
human life is to be lived. If it could be done, the rest of us would be best off it we were to let out
lives be controlled by such individuals . This position held by Plato has been one of much

Also you can t blame him because as it is visible in the Republic, Thrasymachus says, I declare
justice is nothing but the advantage of the stronger . All that this quote basically incorporates is
that justice is nothing to normal people but in essence it s just an advantage to those people
who are rulers and are stronger than the ordinary people. He brings up a great point stating that
when robbery and violence are practiced by normal people its considered injustice, however
when this is practiced by mass or most often by rulers or those in charge its considered justice.
Since the rulers themselves do not obey the principles that they impose on the citizens, they are
themselves unjust . Because of this the tyrant himself is happy because he breaks the rules of
justice that he imposes on the weak people below him. When you are allowing yourself to be
governed and controlled by someone else rather than yourself it is not justice it s basically
considered slavery. These are all the ideas brought upon by Thrasymachus in the Republic.
However on the other hand in Book I of the Republic Plato s mentor Socrates tries and contests
Thrasymachus ideas. Socartes brings up a great point in saying that if the weak themselves were
strong enough to prevent someone from becoming a tyrant then they themselves are strong
meaning they don t need help. Socartes basically insists that a lot of the power of the man has to do

Differences Between Ming And Qing Dynasties
The Ming and and Qing dynasties lasted from 1368 1912. Although the beginning of the Ming
dynasty was considered China s age of exploration, that was not the case in the latter half of the
15th century. China became more sinocentric; it focused on internal affairs and secure coastlines.
The government spurned and wrote off the attempted contact of foreign nations. It then entered a
period of isolation with isolationist policies. The Ming government was trying to limit contact with
foreign empires and kingdoms. To do this, they targeted the strong trade that occurred between
Chinaand the rest of the world. The Hongwu emperor, who ruled 1368 1398, created the haijins, or

Trade is and has been a critical contribution to furthering civilizations since humans first started. By
not taking part, China did not advance well. The amount of fresh goods and ideas or religions

s sinocentrism hurt it in other ways. The laws initiated in the Ming Qing dynasties and how they

they found themselves behind. Perhaps if the government had decided not to close itself off, the

Essay On Capitalism And Capitalism
In every country, there is always an economic system created to meet the needs of its people.
Capitalism, as described by Adam Smith and communism as described by Karl Marx, are two
types of these economic systems. Capitalism tries to meet the needs of the people allowing all its
citizens to work to improve their lives by giving them control over the economy while communism
gives the government total control of its industry and the economy and all people have equal social
and economic status. These two types of economic systems each have a different effect on the
economy of the nations and its people.

or look for a new way to manufacture it s this competition that leads to the production of better
goods at lower prices this is called Mass production. Also by removing all limitations and
regulations, every ones self interests would fuel the economy s growth. While in government
plays a small role in capitalism it allows its citizens some Individual freedom like Freedom of
Speech, Freedom of Religion, Freedom of Choice, Freedom of Assembly and Freedom of the
Press. Because of this Entrepreneurs have the ability can risk their own money in the market
economy. Entrepreneurs are people take a risk by investing their money in a business venture.
Communism has an opposite way of achieving the needs of its people like Adam Smiths Wealth of
Nations Karl Marx a 9th century philosopher and political economist addressed a wide range of
political and social issues the Communist Manifesto. By having a Communist economy, the
government can have total control of industry and keep production of goods from competing with
one another and make everyone work for the good of the society. By doing this competition,
unemployment, and poverty would be eliminated. All good and services would be distributed
according to people s needs as a result food and clothes would cost less. Through this system,
Communist workers standard of living would be raised because many benefits can be provided

Another view on suffering brought by theist is the suffering can lead to a greater spiritual good.
In order to gain spiritual guidance, there has to be suffering involved. The agonizing struggle
brought by human s free choice is debated since it can only be prevented by an individual s free
choice. But not all suffering is created by human s free choice. Individuals have no control over the
amount of sorrow that is brought upon them. Without warning, natural disaster brings suffering
even if people are trying their best in order to prevent any kind of unhappiness. How could theist
know the meaning of such suffering and its purpose? By trusting that the meaning of suffering is
only known after death, how can theist surely agree if none of them have experienced the afterlife?
Last, what position should the informed atheist take concerning the rationality of religious beliefs?
After giving a response to theist s argument against atheist, both are to believe that the other is
believing a false belief. There are many types of atheist with different thoughts on religious beliefs.
There are three different types of atheism discussed in Rowe s theory. Unfriendly atheism, there is
no such thing as a god(s). Indifferent atheism, has no concern in believing that a theist god(s)
exists. And friendly atheism is certain that there is a reason theist to have faith in god. Defending

The Ugly Side Of Climate Change
It is far better for ourselves and the planet if we adapt to climate change instead of trying to stop it
completely. Climate change is a natural phenomenon with many factors that contribute to it. We
humans are one of those factors. Sure, we can do many things in our daily lives to hopefully
lessen our footprint. But really, will all this add up to be enough? In the here and now I would
argue no. The ugly side of climate changeis very much alive right now, and it is only going to
continue to get much worse. I think it would be best if we began preparing and changing with the
effects now versus later when it could very well be too late for us.
Climate change is a real issue today and now that can actually be seen in many places. You can
physically witness it in places such as Colorado, where the Colorado River is slowly drying up.
Many rivers across the world face this same exact problem. It is obvious that we humans suffer
from the changes in the climate around the world. However, we are not the only ones. The
surrounding ecology of the areas affected by climate change will also be damaged. We will see a
large change or erasing of the ecosystems around us. Being an animal/nature lover in this day and
age is a hard task indeed. Thankfully many countries right now are taking action to deal a blow to
climate change. In fact, there was a recent meeting in France, where multiple countries took a
pledge to reduce carbon emissions in their respective locations. One has to ask

which is more like a philosophy than a religion, but that Una finds even better than Unitarianism.
As the novel continues, and Una endures more tragedy and experiences more, her search changes.
At first she views the lighthouse as God in the microcosm of her island. She and Frannie idolize

In the 1984 film, our young hero, Daniel LaRusso, moves to New Jersey with his mother. Likewise,
our younger hero from the 2010 remake, Dre Parker, moves from Detroit to Beijing for his mother s
work. Both attend school and seek acceptance from their peers. Additionally, both boys live near
their respective handyman, Mr. Miyagi in the original, and Mr. Han in the remake. These men act
as the only father figures throughout the films. These unique settings created a mysterious
surrounding for our underdog heroes which presenting new challenges and endeavors..
The underdog story is told differently in both films. Daniel LaRusso is a charming, relatable kid
who struggles to fit in. Dre Parker manages to keep his wits about him even as he crosses into an
entirely different country and culture. Each of the misunderstood boys had a mentor who guided
them through the course of each movie. Essentially, both Mr. Miyagi and Mr. Han play the same
role, but where they differ is in backstory and attitude. Mr. Miyagi is a

The Human Tendency Towards War Exemplified in William...
Thomas Hobbes once said, Hereby it is a manifest, that during the time man live without a common
power to keep them all in awe, they are in that condition which is called war . . . (Hobbes 64).
Thomas Hobbes, an enlightenment thinker, believes that humans are born evil, and without a good
leader, everything will turn into chaos. William Goldings Lord of the Flies rightly gives examples
on Hobbes viewpoint. Throughout the story, it shows the process in which the boys slowly loses
their civilized self and turn into savages, how the boys would do anything just for survival or just
purely entertainment. William Golding shows the innate evilness within humans by employing
religious allegoryas by using events, characters, and settings that... Show more content on

Furthermore, the characters in the story parallels to other characters in the Bible. When Ralph
starts condemning himself, Simon cheers him up by saying, You ll get back to where you came
from (Golding 111). According to the Bible, only Satan causes condemnation. By interrupting
Ralph and giving him hope, Golding illustrates Simon as Jesus because he saves Ralph from
being torn apart by Satan. The quote also suggests Simon knows something Ralph does not
know. It shows that Simon may have the ability to foresee future events. Later, when Simon
talks to the beast, or Lord of the Flies, it says, I m the reason why it s no go? Why things are
what they are? (Golding 143). The Lord of the Flies symbolizes Satan. In the New Testament,
after baptism, Satan temps Jesus with various things for forty days. Simon is the only person
that is able to speak to the beast on the island. His innate goodness helps him to be able to speak
to the Lord of the Flies without being afraid, which is something only Jesus can do. Throughout
the story, Simon displays various traits of Jesus such as being deeply spiritual, compassionated,
and non violent. The setting of the story are also related to stories in the Bible. The island is
described as The air was thick with butterflies, lifting, fluttering, settling (Golding 28). The image
described resembles to that of the paradise. Just like the Garden of Eden, the island has an ideal

Film Analysis and Different Viewpoints on A Woman Under...
I. Introduction
Beginning in the late 1960 s, a new film movement known as New Hollywood began, rapidly
replacing the Classical method of filmmaking. This era was unique because many popular films of
the time were produced outside of the studio system, shot on location, and with non professional
actors and actresses. These art films were brash, irreverent, and full of anger. While directors during
this time used drastically different methods to achieve their final product, the meaning they
attempted to convey through their art was often quite similar in its presentation and
encompassment of society. According to David Bordwell, stylistic devices and thematic motifs may
differ from director to director, [but] the overall functions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The home was a natural setting for such films: it provided a forum for the representation of the
anger of the times within a highly relatable environment. As such, films which touched on family
dynamics like Five Easy Pieces (1970) and Last Picture Show (1971) were largely successful.
While it is hard to argue the Vietnam War did not profoundly influence filmmaking in the 1970
s, these films also reflected a deeper truth about the quickly changing state of domesticity. A
1977 study called Updating the Life Cycle of the Family from the Journal of Marriage and
Family tells us that during the 1970 s, there were more single parent families than ever before,
due to rising rates of separation and divorce. It also found that mothers devoted less time to
childbearing than in the 1950 s or 60 s, and that the average size of the family was smaller (down
from four children to three, on average), resulting in a restructuring of previously well defined
roles. (Glick 8) This data was clearly in the minds of directors John Cassavetes and Barbara Loden
when they made their respective films: A Woman Under the Influence involves a three child family
and in Wanda, we see only two children.
III. Left and Right Cycles
Besides the emphasis on the restructured family and changing parental roles, A

Case Study Of Acute Appendicitis
Out of 100 patients studied in this research, the age incidence varies between 12 to 47 years, the
maximum incidence of acute appendicitis was found in age group of 21 40 years [56 patients

60 years [16 patients (16%)]. Regarding to sex, males were more than females [68 males (68%) vs
32 females (32%) with a ratio of 2.13:1 respectively]. Married patients were suffering from acute

This concurs with our results, the incidence of acute appendicitis were more in males than
females (68% vs 32%) with a ratio of 2.13:1. But other investigators, documented different results
in which that male: female ratio was 1: 1.66 [Mardan et al., 2007]. Ultrasonography is an
affordable, noninvasive tool whose results can be obtained more quickly than for C T scans
[Incesu et al., 1997]. Many studies proved that, ultrasound has a high sensitivity ranged from
55% to 98% and specificity ranged from 50% to 100%, PPV ranged from 80.48% to 97.4, NPV
ranged from 19.51% to 89.19% and accuracy ranged from 70.91% to 81%.. These results
emphasize that appositive ultrasonographic findings for appendicitis is strongly in favor of a
diagnosis of acute appendicitis. However a negative ultrasound findings is not sufficient to rule
out the diagnosis and discharge the patient [Singh et al., 2014; Incesu et al., 1997; Flum et al.,
2002; Nasiri et al., 2012]. But in our study, ultrasound sensitivity= 60%, specificity= 0%, PPV=
70.59%, NPV= 0% and accuracy= 30%, comparing our results with the previous results reveals that
the ultrasound provides less reliable findings for the diagnosis of acute appendicitis in our study.
These variations in reported data may be due to that, the ultrasound is an operator dependent
technique and the results vary depending on how is performing

My Favorite Vacation
This time last year, I went to the Cape Coral Coconut Festival, A festival held yearly in the large
lot next to Sun Splash Family Waterpark, a local s hotspot every summer with guaranteed long
lines and a densely packed lazy river. Everyone in my family was thrilled, my little brother and
sister bouncing up and down on the seats of our familyminivan, while my mom attempted to drive
to the festival, amidst ear piercing shrieks, constantly reminding them to calm down. I too was
excited, peering up at the brightly colored lights that stretched all the way to the sky. As we
pulled into the lot, the rides seemed to loom above, the thought of riding them put a knot in my
throat and made my stomach do backflips. We all burst out of the car, walking hand in hand, my
little brother (5), my little sister (3), my Mom, my Dad, my grandma, and I. We all rode a few
rides to satisfy the little ones, the ladybug ride, and then the merry go round. Shortly after, we
passed by a large ride, where flashing lights and pounding music assaulted my senses. It was so
much to take in, I figured out the ride was cars connected in a ring on a track that first jolted
riders forward before having them disappear in a tube and having them reappear on the other
side. Once the ride finally slowed down and then lurched to a stop, the DJ taunted as the cars began
to fly in reverse. It all looked very menacing. Do you want to ride that? It was my favorite when I
was your age, My mom asked. No

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Liras
It is obvious to us all how fast the e commerce sector has grown in our country and in the world.
Indeed, it had been estimated that the trading volume would reach the level of 54, 4 billion
Turkish Liras at the end of 2015 if it, which achieved 30% growth in the first six months of 2015,
kept up the same growth speed in the other half of the year. Within such a coherently growing
sector, it has lately been observed that some e commerce brands have a paradigm shift towards
opening physical stores; that is, they have a tendency towards starting up physical stores instead of
remaining online only. This system is called click to brick . Such hybrid structures, which provide a

Guns Germs And Steel Chapter Summary Of Blood Diamond
In this chapter, Diamond examines if humans on one continent had an advantage over others by
examining the evolution and spread of humans to other continents. Diamond first examines human
origin around 7 million years ago when a population of African apes evolved into some of the
earliest humans. This evolutionary process occurred and remained in Africauntil around 1.5 million
years ago when Homo erectus spread beyond Africa. By about .5 million years ago, human
populations had differentiated with Neanderthals in Europe, relatively modern structured humans in
Africa, and humans different from both in East Asia. It wasn t until 50,000 years ago when
biologically and behaviorally modern humans ,the Cro Magnons , appeared did humans advanced

The Outsiders By Francis Ford Coppola
The Outsiders a film directed by Francis Ford Coppola s in the 1980s is about two social groups
of teenagers who happens to live in the same town and attends the same high school. Although
both two social groups live in the same vicinity, they live a completely different life. A group
identified as the South Side Socials (aka socs ), are the upper class teenagers, while the Greasers,
are the less fortunate kids, who just so happen to live on the wrong side of town. These two
social groups have had a conflict against one another for several years, but on one specific
evening, this rivalry turns deadly as one of the greasers, Johnny, stabs and murders a socs. Due
to the passing of one of the Socs, the Socs tried to avenge the death of their friend, while the
greasers tried to get the town to comprehend that the Socs were also at fault during that conflict.
The Outsider is an exceptional film depicting how social groups can explain our behavior, and
how deviance and crime are observed in relation to our social group. A social group is defined as
a group of two or more people who interact frequently with one another, shares a portion sense of
belonging and have a sensation of interdependence. As seen in the film, both the Socs and the
greasers care deeply for each associate of the corresponding group. Towards the end of the film, as
Johnny is being hospitalized for severe burns, Pony Boy expresses himself by stating the fact that
things would be different if he pass away.

Special Effects and Scenes from The Day After Tomorrow
Some scenes in the movie The Day After Tomorrow were very plausible and likely to occur in real
life, while others were simply made from special effects and could most likely never occur in day
to day life.
One very possible scene was animals sensing the weather and being able to escape before a massive
storm was soon to hit. According to http://www.pbs.org/wnet/nature/episodes/can animals predict
disaster/tall tales or true/131/, Plenty of studies have shown that some animals can sense major
changes in the weather. Worms, for instance, are known to flee rising groundwater. Birds are
known to be sensitive to air pressure changes, and often hunker down before a big storm. And in
Florida, researchers studying tagged sharks say they flee to deeper water just before a big
hurricane arrives. They also may be sensing the air and water pressure changes caused by the big
storm. Another plausible scene in the movie is tornadoes being so powerful and strong that they
can pick up cars and throw them forcefully into the air. One example that backs up this statement
is, In a scene straight out of a blockbuster disaster movie, big rig trucks were tossed high into the
air like toys when huge tornadoes slammed into Dallas yesterday (April 3). The National Weather
Service said today that the damage in Texas, which included hundreds of homes, suggested one of
the twisters was an EF2, meaning the winds gusted between 111 and 135 mph (179 217 kph).

Myth of Propaganda in the Balkans and Rwanda Essay
Mass Manipulation and Genocide:
The Myth of Propaganda in the Balkans and Rwanda
War and conquest have been among the most enduring traits of humankind throughout the ages.
While we would all like to believe that we are, by nature, a peaceful species, we still understand
there are some things worth fighting for, and given the appropriate context, there are some things
worth killing for. As reasoning beings, we hope that if violence is the only option it is for a clear
and legitimate purpose. That is why it was so confounding to hear of such heinous acts of senseless
violence as stories from Germany began to emerge after World War II. The world shuddered as the
actions of Hitler s henchmen attempting to eradicate entire ethnic groups ... Show more content on

Indeed, the propaganda employed through various media was instrumental in the rise of nationalism
and the fomenting of fear and ethnic hatred in the Balkans and in Rwanda. It is clear that
propaganda is a powerful tool and its implementation played a significant role in these conflicts,
but the extent of that role is less certain. Does propaganda alone have the power to incite genocide
and ethnic cleansing? Are certain media more effective in achieving extremist goals than others?
Could we stop genocides before they start by identifying and targeting outlets of propaganda? As
this paper will demonstrate, the social, political and economic climates of nations in question in
this case, Rwanda and the former Yugoslavia determine how effective state sponsored propaganda
is at crystallizing divisions among people and inspiring one group to attempt to eradicate another.
Before we can understand how propaganda operates, it is important to define exactly what we
mean by propaganda. The term itself dates back to 1622 when Pope Gregory XV established a
papal bull with the title Sacra Congregatio de Propaganda Fedei, an effort to counter the Protestant
movement. Thus from its inception, propaganda was employed to establish a sense of otherness
within populations, inspiring negative reactions among Protestants and positive feelings among

team at RVI blinded about the treatment.
The patients haemoglobin and other parameters will be monitored by the blinded medical
team, the blood transfusion threshold will be Hb 8.0 mg/dl (as per institution policy).
Estimated blood loss will be calculated based on Hb drop, number of units of transfusion
using formula. Blood loss = Preop Hb (Postop Hb + Units Transfused) {where 1 unit = 315 mls}.
Primary outcome
The patients will be monitored until discharge and number of units of blood transfusion
starting from intra operative period will be recorded. Our aim is to investigate if tranexamic
acid reduces the rate intraoperative of post operative blood transfusion.
Secondary outcome
In addition, we will also document length of stay, compare mobility status in both groups,
estimate blood loss, identify the incidence on new vascular event (MI, CVA, PE, DVT) and
death.
Further the vascular events will be confirmed by teats objectively and by medical specialists.
Mycocardial infarction will be diagnosed by ECG changes, Troponin I levels and confirmed

The Civil War And The Emancipation Proclamation Essay
Life for was harsh and arduous following up towards gaining freedom and after becoming a
liberated for many African Americans during the 19th century. But soon after the
political, social, and economic effects of slaves getting their freedoms back many bills or
propositions were made to oppose the reform movement. The context of the time period was pre
civil war and during the early 19th century where many large movements in religion, economy
and social class were taking place and coming to fruition. It also took place afterwards of the
civil wars and the emancipation proclamation. This was also the time period where many people
in began to view slavery as an inhumane practice, a good chunk of the people who opposed
slavery were usually in the northern part of the united states and were civil rights activists. The
Fugitive Slave Acts were a pair of federal laws that allowed for the capture and return of runaway
slaves within the territory of the United States. Enacted by Congress in 1793, the first Fugitive
Slave Act authorized local governments to seize and return escaped slaves to their owners and
imposed penalties on anyone who aided in their flight. Widespread resistance to the 1793 law later
led to the passage of the Fugitive Slave Act of 1850, which added further provisions regarding
runaways and levied even harsher punishments for interfering in their capture. The Fugitive Slave
Acts were among the most controversial laws of the early 19th century, and many Northern

What Is The Unity Of Effect In The Raven By Edgar Allan Poe
Martha Garbarini Ms. Hopkins P3 H English II September 23, 2015 Wondering Nevermore
Edgar Allan Poe was one of the most influential authors of his time, being highly regarded as a
pivotal figure of Romanticism in American Literature. For many, the name brings to mind
images of madmen and dark, twisted tales of fate. In Poe s work, he had a way of impacting his
readers deeply, through language choice, all, and elaborate imagery. In one of Poe s most
acclaimed works, The Raven, unity of effect is achieved very well through skillful language
choice. In stanza sixteen, Poe writes, By that Heaven that bends above us by that God we both
adore Tell this soul with sorrow laden if, within the distant Aidenn, It shall clasp a sainted maiden
whom the angels name Lenore. Simply put, Poe could ve chosen much more basic words that
didn t create the same effect that these words did on the reader; but the idea that his soul is laden
with sorrow, and Lenore shall be clasped , leaves us as the reader space to interpret his words and

  • 2. One Man s Journey to Heaven in the Book Leaf by Niggle... One Man s Journey to Heaven The story Leaf by Niggle by J.R.R. Tolkien is a story of allegory, and with good use of metaphors shows what our religious journey on earth to heaven could be. The story used allegory which is metaphors for the characters and places used in the story. It start with a man named Niggle, who is going on a trip, but wants to finish his painting before he goes. Once we read the entire story it becomes clear that it is an allegorical story. The main character in the story is Niggle. He is a painter; however he is not a successful painter. He is very nervous and not sure about going on his journey. Niggle is very kind and feels the need to help others, even when he feels it is annoying at the time. Niggle lives in a country that has rules about needing to help each others neighbors, so Niggle is forced by an inspector to help his neighbor Parish, even though he doesn t care much for him. The metaphors used in Niggle s story of the people he meets and where he goes, it is easy to see that the story represents a mans life of his path to purgatory and death. The symbolism seems likely, especially to Catholics and their belief in purgatory. In his idea of a painting, he sees a large tree with leaves and mountains. He wants more than anything to paint what he sees; however, he is continually bothered by his neighbor, a man named Parish. He procrastinated for his journey by keeping himself very busy with his painting and helping his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Analysis Of The Movie The Cheeks Were Red Long before Woody Allen s jasmine was blue, his cheeks were red over an allegation about a midnight not in Paris, but in his attic. He was called an irrational man within the halls of his own home in Manhattan, putting Allen in a new kind of spotlight. After ending his twelve year relationship with Mia Farrow, accusations arose claiming that Mr. Allen had molested the couples adopted daughter Dylan when she was seven. However, despite the precarious circumstances in which the allegations arose, both sides continue to maintain their respective arguments. Mr. Allen objects to said accusations, claiming he is innocent. Mia, on the opposing side, is in defense of Dylan (now thirty) who did not speak on the issue publicly until February of 2014... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even though the accusation were ludicrous in nature Mia pushed and charges were being sought for Woody Allen. A progression of police investigations followed, in which the Connecticut Police enlisted the help of the Child Sexual Abuse Clinic of the Yale New Haven Hospital. After evaluating all parties involved they summed up their conclusions by making a public statement that follows thus; It is our expert opinion that Dylan was not sexually abused by Mr. Allen. Further, we believe that Dylan s statements on videotape and her statements to us during our evaluation do not refer to actual events that occurred to her on August 4th, 1992 (Allen). Due to these finding Mr. Allen was not charged with any crimes, but found the judge irresponsible for his verdict of we will probably never know what occurred (Allen). As a result of the scandal, Mr. Allen lost custody of his children. Twenty years after the accusations, Dylan Farrow makes her first public comment on the incident in an open letter published in The New York Times. In the letter she states her firm belief that Mr. Allen is guilty, in addition she shames many celebrities by name for continuing to work with Woody Allen. In response to this letter; Woody Allen published his own open letter in The New York Times. He ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Life Of Marguerite Johnson Marguerite Johnson was known for many different attributes in her life. She was a poem writer , writer of stories , producer , director , actor and many more different things that gave her the opportunity in life to be as a known legend. Born in St. Louis, Missouri on April 4,1928 to her parents Bailey Johnson and Vivian Baxter Johnson. This was just the beginning on her adventurous lifestyle. Her parents had come upon an agreement to part their separate ways in life. When deciding this they also agreed that it was best for their children to live with her grandmother Annie Henderson. Moving to Rural Stamps, Arkansas her brother Bailey had given Marguerite a nickname Maya . (noteablebiograophies.com) Living with her grandmother , she gained so much confidence and pride. Her grandmother was the one to show her how to live with her self and be content with it. Visiting her mother back to her home town St. Louis, Missouri she was raped by her mother s boyfriend. Maya testified against him which was very hard on her since she was only an eight year old. Her uncles beat the offender to death. Maya felt as if she killed him because of the statements she testified against him. Feeling this way she became silent for five consecutive years She attended public schools in Arkansas. Her and her brother Bailey joined her mother in California to continue the schooling career. In 1942 her teacher Ms. Bertha Flowers helped Maya to talk again and encouraged her to continue to write the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Nextgen What is NextGen? NextGen is not just one particular project or aspect. Instead, it is a wide range of changes improvements, and implementations created by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and its partners that are designed to improve and make air travel more efficient and safer today and in the years to come. NextGen has the ability to save air carriers money by reducing fuel costs via shortened and more direct routes. NextGen is the overall modernization of the National Airspace System (NAS) that provides benefits to the air carrier and to the consumers/passengers in that it allows for flights to depart on time, arrive on time (or ahead of schedule), decreases the EPA emissions, thus helping to save the environment, and allows ... • 6. Analysis of Judith H. DobrzynskiВґs High Culture Goes... Judith H. Dobrzynski s article, High Culture Goes Hands On, suggests that the museums current trend of providing visitors with an experience threatens the current model of providing solace and inspiration (Dobrzynski 3). However, I disagree with this conclusion. Interactive experiences and contemplative approaches can co exist just so long as museums adjust in response to how our ever evolving culture receives it. Transitioning from museums elitist paradigm is critical to creating a more accessible community conscious design. Dobrzynski, on the other hand, views these differences as shedding the very characteristics that made [art museums] so special (1), a pessimistic sentiment that shows her contempt towards development. Before we can assess the roles of a museum, what exactly is the institution? Didier Maleuvre explains museums as, devoted to the protection, preservation, exhibition, and furtherance of what a community agrees to identify as works of art (Maleuvre 9). As we develop new modes of interaction and technological advancements, are museums that provide interactive experiences and art works not included in this explanation? I certainly do not think so. Audience engagement should not be feared but promoted; the trouble, though, is finding the right balance. Maleuvre also believes that it was the museum s responsibility to challenge the status quo, and its own cultural identity, which, provides further cause for change as museums have moved away from ... • 7. I Want To Be Miss America A defining moment is a point at which a situation is clearly seen to start a change. Defining moments can happen at any point in one s life. In class we read multiple of stories with different defining moments. The two that stuck out to me were I Want to Be Miss America and Here s Herbie . In I Want to Be Miss America , the defining moment came late for the two girls. Every year they would watch the Miss America beauty pageant with their parents and strive and wish to look american. So we painstakingly rolled our long, curly hair round and round, using our heads as giant roller, ironing it until we had long, shining hanks, like our classmates and the contestants, only darker. In the story Here s Herbie , Mike always wanted to look out the front window of the train but was scared of what others would think of him. He didn t want to look like a little kid. When I was fifteen, I didn t want to seem like I was six. (156) I wanted to look out the front of the train but I never would, so a terrible tug of war took place in my mind. (156). It wasn t until one day, he meet a kid on the train who didn t care what other thought of him. His name being Herbie. He walked right onto the train, without hesitation, pulled out a steering wheel and stuck it to that front window. He was not driving the train. At first being embarrassed for Herbie, he soon realized that they weren t that much different. They both had their problems. On the train ride home, he walked into the first car again. My life is a total cesspool anyhow, and here I am life is passing me by, there are millions of things I want to do, and I never do them. I m just gonna do it. • 8. William the Holy Conqueror Even though William the Conqueror descended from a line of Vikings who had lived in France for over 200 years, William had more of an impact on the English language than the majority of influential English born people of the time. The French speaking Normans brought a whole new vocabulary to England, whose language was closely related to German. (Barlow 8). He even introduced the Norman legacy of building castles, including the Tower of London. Although he is most well known for the Norman invasion of 1066 that overthrew the Anglo Saxon reign which had lasted for over six centuries, William was a very religious man. He was moral and righteous by the standards of the time, and devoted much of his time to the Norman church. William was born in 1028 and was the only son of Duke Robert I of Normandywho later died on a voyage to Jerusalem. After his father s death in 1035, he was knighted at the age of fifteen and the Norman magnates accepted William as duke even though he was an illegitimate child; he was actually known as William the Bastard. This caused William serious problems later in life and he had to overcome several massive obstacles one of which was surviving numerous rebellions; which his mother somehow got him through. William relied heavily on King Henry I of France for protection. He faced substantial difficulty maintaining control over Normandy but by his early twenties he emerged a powerful leader. William then gathered an army to protect his estate. He ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. The Health Status Of Rural Populations Essay Historically, health care professionals believed rural populations had a health advantage. They frequently sent tuberculosis patients and others into the country for fresh air and a change of scenery (LourenГ§o 2012). However, as the scientific understanding of disease expanded and urban population and political power grew, these advantages diminished. Today, staggering disparities exist across the globe in the health status of rural populations compared to their urban counterparts, both between and within every country, making this a truly global issue. As is the case with many other global health issues, developing countries experience these inequalities with greater severity due to a lack of infrastructure and resources, especially when considering maternal and infant health. For example, in Burundi, as of 2014, the urban infant mortality rate was 49 deaths per 1000 live births, while the rural infant mortality rate was 81. In 2014, Laos had an urban infant mortality rate of 39 but a rural infant mortality rate of 85. Finally, in Bolivia in 2014, the urban infant mortality rate was 43 while the rural mortality rate was 75 (PopulationReference Bureau 2014). These data demonstrate the dramatic inequity between urban and rural areas and indicate disparate access to health care for women and children. Action must be taken to alleviate these disparities in developing countries with regards to maternal and infant health. The global health community must first collaborate to ... The bad steward had some people that owed him a debt and he immediately went to them and forced them to pay their debt right away. After he was forgiven, he refused to forgive. • 13. His legacy is a subject still discussed and assessed by many scholars, as it is one that has left its mark on the Ancient World and its stigma, positive or negative, is still felt today around the world. However, there is no controversy that Alexander was an individual with a plethora of abilities and traits that understood and assessed situations, and his risky, yet mostly calculated actions helped him establish his title of being considered Great . His legacy and greatness undoubtedly extend from his mighty military campaigns and his his glorification during and after his death, as well as his potential administration ideals, and his being the catalyst for the foundation of the Hellenistic era. In his short, yet astonishing career, Alexander managed to defeat the Persian empire, a superpower forty two times the size of the united Greece he led. There is no controversy about Alexander s military genius and Burn says no soldier in history is more indisputably great than Alexander. He started, of course, with the advantage of Philip s army and he did have a number of reverses, such as the march through the Gedrosian Desert. His genius, however, is apparent in every aspect of warfare and in every military undertaking between those of the Granicus and Hydaspes River. Memorable examples of this were seen during the Cuban Missile Crisis, the 14 days in 1962 when the United States and the Soviet Union squared off over the placement of Russian missiles in Cuba, and the four days reportage of the assassination and funeral of John F. They may poke a hole in a condom so their partner feels obligated to stay with a baby on the way or make them feel guilty enough to stay. Virgil explores this idea in the Aeneid using Queen Dido. • 21. Theme Of Walang Panginoon The societal status of man dictates how man behaves, for it is not the actions of man that determines their character, but on the contrary their social identity that determines their actions. In a similar effort, (Marx, 1977) asserts that the conflicts in a given society are strictly attributed to the constant clash of the two opposing units; the wealthy and the downthrodden. Bridging these philosophies to the short storyof Deogracias Rosario entitled Walang Panginoon , it is evident that the concept of class struggle impacts the behavior and actions of the characters in the said story. In relation, the two main characters namely Marcos and Don Teong portray the classic demonstration of class inequalty between the oppressed proletariat and autocrat plantation owner, respectively. Supporting the idea of the conflicting concepts of the powerful and the powerless, this piece of literature mirrors the master slave theme of the world today. He brings up a great point stating that when robbery and violence are practiced by normal people its considered injustice, however when this is practiced by mass or most often by rulers or those in charge its considered justice. The first question, is there an argument for atheism based on the problem of evil that could rationally justify atheism? Supporting his question, Rowe by uses the idea of human and animal suffering.is it reasonable for omnipotent, omniscient being(s) to permits its creation to suffer by extinguish each other for their own personal benefits. If there is such a thing as an omnibenevolent, omnipotent holy being how come the ultimate and unescapable suffering is this world has no vanish. Another view on suffering brought by theist is the suffering can lead to a greater spiritual good. In order to gain spiritual guidance, there has to be suffering involved. The agonizing struggle brought by human s free choice is debated since it can only be prevented by an individual s free choice. But not all suffering is created by human s free choice. Individuals have no control over the amount of sorrow that is brought upon them. Without warning, natural disaster brings suffering even if people are trying their best in order to prevent any kind of unhappiness. How could theist know the meaning of such suffering and its purpose? By trusting that the meaning of suffering is only known after death, how can theist surely agree if none of them have experienced the afterlife? Last, what position should the informed atheist take concerning the rationality of religious beliefs? After giving a response to theist s argument against atheist, both are to believe that the other is believing a false belief. There are many types of atheist with different thoughts on religious beliefs. There are three different types of atheism discussed in Rowe s theory. • 35. The Ugly Side Of Climate Change It is far better for ourselves and the planet if we adapt to climate change instead of trying to stop it completely. Climate change is a natural phenomenon with many factors that contribute to it. We humans are one of those factors. Sure, we can do many things in our daily lives to hopefully lessen our footprint. But really, will all this add up to be enough? In the here and now I would argue no. The ugly side of climate changeis very much alive right now, and it is only going to continue to get much worse. I think it would be best if we began preparing and changing with the effects now versus later when it could very well be too late for us. Climate change is a real issue today and now that can actually be seen in many places. You can physically witness it in places such as Colorado, where the Colorado River is slowly drying up. Many rivers across the world face this same exact problem. It is obvious that we humans suffer from the changes in the climate around the world. However, we are not the only ones. The surrounding ecology of the areas affected by climate change will also be damaged. We will see a large change or erasing of the ecosystems around us. Being an animal/nature lover in this day and age is a hard task indeed. Thankfully many countries right now are taking action to deal a blow to climate change. In fact, there was a recent meeting in France, where multiple countries took a pledge to reduce carbon emissions in their respective locations. One has to ask ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This era was unique because many popular films of the time were produced outside of the studio system, shot on location, and with non professional actors and actresses. These art films were brash, irreverent, and full of anger. While directors during this time used drastically different methods to achieve their final product, the meaning they attempted to convey through their art was often quite similar in its presentation and encompassment of society. The home was a natural setting for such films: it provided a forum for the representation of the anger of the times within a highly relatable environment. As such, films which touched on family dynamics like Five Easy Pieces (1970) and Last Picture Show (1971) were largely successful. While it is hard to argue the Vietnam War did not profoundly influence filmmaking in the 1970 s, these films also reflected a deeper truth about the quickly changing state of domesticity. A 1977 study called Updating the Life Cycle of the Family from the Journal of Marriage and Family tells us that during the 1970 s, there were more single parent families than ever before, due to rising rates of separation and divorce. It also found that mothers devoted less time to childbearing than in the 1950 s or 60 s, and that the average size of the family was smaller (down from four children to three, on average), resulting in a restructuring of previously well defined roles. (Glick 8) This data was clearly in the minds of directors John Cassavetes and Barbara Loden when they made their respective films: A Woman Under the Influence involves a three child family and in Wanda, we see only two children. Although both two social groups live in the same vicinity, they live a completely different life. A group identified as the South Side Socials (aka socs ), are the upper class teenagers, while the Greasers, are the less fortunate kids, who just so happen to live on the wrong side of town. These two social groups have had a conflict against one another for several years, but on one specific evening, this rivalry turns deadly as one of the greasers, Johnny, stabs and murders a socs. Due to the passing of one of the Socs, the Socs tried to avenge the death of their friend, while the greasers tried to get the town to comprehend that the Socs were also at fault during that conflict. The Outsider is an exceptional film depicting how social groups can explain our behavior, and how deviance and crime are observed in relation to our social group. A social group is defined as a group of two or more people who interact frequently with one another, shares a portion sense of belonging and have a sensation of interdependence. Special Effects and Scenes from The Day After Tomorrow Some scenes in the movie The Day After Tomorrow were very plausible and likely to occur in real life, while others were simply made from special effects and could most likely never occur in day to day life. One very possible scene was animals sensing the weather and being able to escape before a massive storm was soon to hit. According to http://www.pbs.org/wnet/nature/episodes/can animals predict disaster/tall tales or true/131/, Plenty of studies have shown that some animals can sense major changes in the weather. Worms, for instance, are known to flee rising groundwater. Birds are known to be sensitive to air pressure changes, and often hunker down before a big storm. They also may be sensing the air and water pressure changes caused by the big storm. As this paper will demonstrate, the social, political and economic climates of nations in question in this case, Rwanda and the former Yugoslavia determine how effective state sponsored propaganda is at crystallizing divisions among people and inspiring one group to attempt to eradicate another.
