Argumentative Essay Plastic Surgery
Writing an argumentative essay on the topic of plastic surgery can be both challenging and
thought-provoking. The subject itself is multifaceted, encompassing various ethical, cultural, and
medical considerations. Crafting a well-structured and persuasive essay requires extensive
research to understand the diverse perspectives surrounding plastic surgery.
One of the difficulties lies in navigating through the sensitive nature of the topic. Plastic surgery
involves personal choices, self-perception, and societal expectations, making it a complex subject
to analyze objectively. Addressing the ethical implications of altering one's appearance can be
particularly challenging, as opinions on what constitutes acceptable cosmetic interventions may
vary widely.
Moreover, delving into the medical aspects of plastic surgery demands a grasp of surgical
procedures, potential risks, and the impact on mental well-being. Balancing these technical
details with the emotional and psychological dimensions requires a nuanced approach to present
a comprehensive argument.
Researching and incorporating reliable sources is another hurdle. Given the prevalence of
misinformation on the internet, distinguishing between credible and biased information becomes
crucial. A thorough investigation into academic journals, medical publications, and reputable
news sources is necessary to establish a strong foundation for the essay.
Structuring the essay effectively adds another layer of complexity. Developing a clear thesis
statement, organizing supporting arguments, and addressing counterarguments cohesively are
essential elements. Striking the right balance between logical reasoning and emotional appeal can
be challenging, especially when dealing with a topic as personal as plastic surgery.
In conclusion, composing an argumentative essay on plastic surgery requires a careful blend of
empathy, analytical thinking, and research skills. Successfully navigating the intricacies of the
topic necessitates a well-informed and balanced perspective. For those seeking assistance with

Data Standards And Public Health Information
Data standards are a means of creating terms and methods that are common
/universally understood which will assist in the efficient exchange of public health
information (O Carroll et al, 2010). Health Level Seven (HL7) and its individuals
give a structure (and related principles) for the exchange, reconciliation, sharing, and
recovery of electronic health data. These measures characterize how data is packaged
and conveyed between involved parties. It sets the dialect, structure and information
type needed for consistent integration between systems. HL7 principles bolster
clinical practice and the administration, conveyance, and assessment of health
services, and are perceived as the most generally utilized in the world (hl7.org).
Creating and utilizing uniform information measures has been found to be one of the
significant difficulties of public healthorganizations as they advance toward the
utilization of electronic trade of information rather than the paper form they have
been utilizing (O Carroll et al, 2010). Health information is vastly available not only
to health professionals but also to the layman. The growing use and availability of the
internet has permitted and facilitated the distribution of information. However,
without proper data standards by which public health institutions can abide by, there
will be a lag in their ability to share and capitalize on the use of health information. A
communal approach to representing and exchanging public health data

In order for physicians to get clinical surgery privileges to perform certain procedures
in the realm of their practices, they have to obtain adequate abilities and experiences.
There must be a combination of knowledge in theory and experience earned during
practical situations. Without a clear confirmation of such combination of theory and
practical knowledge, physicians are not in a safe position to perform any procedures.
In the hospital setting, physicians must receive the clinical surgery privileges from

That is where credentials are important to know to what specifically the surgeon is
specialized in. For example, the fact that someone is an experience surgeon to
deliver pregnant women does not mean he/she has experience and practice to
operate on a woman have a breast reduction. In other undeveloped countries, I am
aware of one surgeon is able to operate on people with many different issues. I have
heard the story of Gynecologist surgeon who also operates on children with other
birth defect. But, I like the way it is over here in this country, there is almost
surgeons who practice very specific part of the body. This way, it is safer, and
without much doubt one knows that he/she is dealing with someone who is
trained, educated, and experienced in one particular field. In some particular cases,
hospitals have granted privileges to physicians/surgeons to carry out certain
procedures, but cannot depend on theoretical knowledge. Medicine is one the fields
where theoretical knowledge only will not be considered as proof of experience.
Also, no one can claim to be experienced through training and practice without the
required years of theoretical knowledge. Both are required here, theory and practice.
However, specific practice is required. For the surgeon needs to specialize in a
particular area.
Not all surgical procedures are the same, each procedure necessitates very specific
skills, expertise, knowledge, and
The Role Of Sex In The Dominican Family
Language and Sexuality is something you would expect to see people talking about
everywhere. But not everyone is so open to talk about it now a days when they are
in public because most of what you see people doing in being on their phone.
Sitting in my grandmother s house was able to show me the way that most
Dominicans would treat the situation when sex is mentioned to how they talk about
it to the kids. Just having one hour to sit in the living room gives you an idea that it
is not talking to the kids about sex but talking about sex in front of the kids. Sitting
there proved that the more the kids hear about sex being a topic that is talked about,
the more likely they all are to get together and talk about what they would do. I

expected their conversations to ever lead that way. One of the ones that is twelve

to the fifth floor bathroom with one of the boys and they would sit on the sink and
then she would kiss them. The other little girls started to laugh and one of them
said, Ew you are so nasty. Why would you do that? I m going to tell mami and papi.
She acted like she did not care and then continued to say that she went on to touch
the little boy down there and that the little boy just started to laugh. She just said that
she just wanted to try what her parents and everyone in school was always talking
about. She said she wanted to feel happy and feel the same way that everyone kept on

Socratic Ignorance Essay
1.What is Socratic ignorance?
Socrates discovered the concept of ignorance after an oracle spoke to one of his
friends stating, no one is wiser than Socrates (Soccio 103). To dispute the Oracle,
Socrates went off in search and discovered that many lacked wisdom (politicians
and poets) and some, such as craftsmen, had knowledge related to their craft, but
also believed that they knew more than they really did. With this discovery, Socrates
stated that it was wiser to be aware that one does not know all opposed to pretending
that one knows more than they really do. Therefore, the term Socratic ignorance was
coined and it represents that one acknowledges that one does not know what one does
not know. It is the awareness of not knowing.
2.What is virtue?
Socrates defined virtue as having the knowledge of moral excellence. Virtue is
when one builds up knowledge by acquiring the applications of skills and the
building up of character. Once this knowledge is acquired, Socrates claimed that
virtue creates wealth and all else that is good. Socrates also believed that if you
were a virtuous person then you would know what is right, and you will do what is
right.

Studying natural theology will result in defining the existence of god and the argument
from motion. Natural theology is the small piece to the bigger puzzle Aquinas was
putting together in his attempt to prove God s existence. Aquinas would have needed
to use natural theology to create his five proofs of God s existence. Aquinas believed
that he could use natural reason (natural theology) to show God existed. The use of
natural reason emphasized one s ability to understand truths about God from nature,
which uses the branch of theology that is natural, and shows that Aquinas would have
needed to use natural theology to expand his ideas, such as, the argument from
The Importance Of Learning In Supporting Teaching And...
A key factor through all the stages of PE is allowing pupils to progress through the
steps whilst developing their skills in order to widen their knowledge. This is why
the role of the teacher is to consider activities in terms of difficulty and quality and to
give children opportunities to plan and evaluate their own performance (Hopper et al,
2000, pg. 117). This illuminates the idea that throughout the key stages, the
difficulties of the tasks should be increased whilst allowing students to focus on the
key points of the skillbeing learnt.
Throughout their education, but in particular in the foundation stage, children will
progress at different rates (Chedzoy,1996, pg. 47) due to them being exposed to new
skills and activities which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of which is competition as Griggs (2012, pg. 71) brings to our attention that
games can provide excellent opportunities for pupils to work cooperatively and
competitively emphasizing the importance of using games throughout the games
curriculum, whether it be a full game or a simply game like activity. By bringing the
added element of competition to the lesson, allows for the children to strive to be
better than the other team, therefore enabling them to progress.
Another key factor is the self esteem of the pupils as Mawer (1995, pg. 121)
promotes the idea that as a teacher we can maintain a positive learning environment
through the development of pupils self esteem . Thus suggesting that if pupils have
confidence within themselves then they will have a better time of learning therefore
aiding progression, due to the pupils believing that they can achieve great
Cuckoo s Nest Hierarchy
There are four different characteristics of a controlled environment, they are, status
hierarchy, depersonalization, adjustment, and institutionalized. In class we
watched One Flew Over The Cuckoo s nest, in the film, there were numerous
examples of the characteristics of a controlled environment. Everywhere we look
we see some examples of some of these characteristics. Status hierarchy is the
power structure level of authority. In everyday life we see a status hierarchy
displayed almost everywhere we go. The film, One Flew Over The Cuckoo s Nest
displays the nurses station as an example of status hierarchy. It was enclosed with
glass windows within the grand room, it s the first thing that catches your eye. Only

Self Portrait With Monkeys Frida Kahlo
Self Portrait with Monkeys was painted by Frida Kahlo in 1943. Frida was born in
Coyocan, Mexico in 1907 (Morrison). She was one of six daughters. At the age of
six, she contracted polio and at the age of eighteen she was in a serious accident.
After the wreck, she was unable to complete her testing in school. She would later
marry another famous artist, Diego Rivera. They would later divorce around the time
of Kahlo gaining fame. Her art often had a dark theme, including the piece Self
Portrait with Monkeys. Her work is considered primitivism, indigenism and
Surrealism ( Frida KahloBiography, Art, and Analysis of Works ).
Kahlo was an average young woman until an accident forever changed her life.
Kahlo, who was eighteen at the time, was with her friend when they stepped onto a
new model bus (Morrison). The bus turned out to be dangerous in a collision,
because it splintered and a metal handrail impelled her. At the time, Kahlo was
unaware of her injuries and the severities of them. The injuries would go on to affect
her for the rest of her life. The aftermath began the artist s dark turn on herself
reflection.
In the aftermath of her wreck, Kahlo began to paint as a form of therapy
(Morrison). Her purpose was to heal and to express herself. She had studied art in
school, however she did not focus on it until her recovery. Her mother encouraged
her artwork and helped make it possible by providing a mirror for Kahlo to use to
view her artwork while laying down.

Are Humans Are Still Alive Today
As a famous evolutionary biologist Ernst Mayr once quoted Evolution is as such is
no longer a theory for a modern author. It is as much a fact as that the earth revolves
around the sun. Evolution is the key to the human race s survival on the earth. The
fact that humans have evolved so well has made them able to become the top of the
food chain, and to maintain this position must continue to adapt and evolve better
and faster than all other species. In opposition to some, most scientists believe that
evolutionin humans is still happening today, and is a key element to why humans are
still alive today, without modern evolution humans might have died from
malnutrition, disease, or just been pushed down to the bottom of the food chain.

Research On Foreign Direct Investment
To interested investing parties, After long consideration from our management team,
we have decided to introduce a contingent set of initiatives corresponding to Foreign
Direct Investment in Ethiopia. There has been a considerable rise of FDI
opportunities recently within Ethiopia. The following document will discuss;
cultural, political, as well as economic trends and patterns that influenced our outlook
on FDI into Ethiopia. Moreover, this memo will analyze the potential risks and or
barriers to entry, foreign firms could encounter when attempting FDI to Ethiopia.
Lastly, our team will aim to outline a proposed plan relating to FDI in Ethiopia for
our organizational business partners. There were many sources of information which
influenced our Foreign Direct Investmentconclusion for Ethiopia such as; research on
cultural, political, and economic factors ongoing currently in Ethiopia. Additionally,
our group is a combination of Foreign Direct Investment specialists including two
Ethiopian counterparts residing within Ethiopia. Hence, a part of our investment plan
includes first hand direct insider Ethiopian research, conducted from Ethiopia.
Accordingly, the strategies developed, by our management team, for FDI in Ethiopia
have been formulated using high business acumen and business analytics pertaining
to present Ethiopian economic conditions. Seemingly, one will see from these
proposed FDI initiatives that Ethiopia is one of the most stable countries for

Imagine that it is the end of May, almost June, and the whole school is ready for
summer vacation. The nice weather, the pool, and everything else good about
summer. But the school recently switched to a year round schedule. Summer vacation
isn t for another two months, and it is only about twenty days long. The students don
t have time after schoolto go to the pool or do fun summer things, because they will
be in school five days a week, like a normal school week. This is what many
schools around the country are doing. Students who go to a year round school often
go for 9 weeks, then, get 3 weeks off. Kids and teachers are trapped in school, when
there is nice weather outside, and fun things to do. This is all apart of year round...

saying that schools don t take all the facts into consideration. Summer is when
many people travel and go see relatives, but with students in school all year, it takes
away that opportunity. Also, in lots of farm communities, the kids work on their
family s farm. Those people s farms might possibly be their only source of income,
but if the kids are at home, they can t help out. In the summers, especially, farms
need the kids to help out. Some school districts don t think of that. Not only are the
students getting family time taken away, but the teachers have families too. Teachers
have to stay longer, and often live in another town than students too, so that takes
even more time away. There are so many students and teachers who do not have time
to do the things they want to do. As you can see, year round schooling limits family
time, for students and teachers, and causes them to not want to come back to school,
and might miss school to make time for
The Theory Of God s The Same Meditation
His argument that God exists are mainly focused explicitly on Mediation three and
five. In Mediation three, he says: I must inquire whether there is a God [for if there
is}, I must examine likewise whether he can be a deceiver... He points out that God
may be a deceiver, but has no foundational basis to prove that. But when he
introduced the evil genius superior earlier in his Meditation one, he said that figure
may also be tricking him into thinking Godexists, and thus deceiving him. The evil
genius does not want to be known, so it tricks Descartes and everybody into thinking
that a subject with the name of God may be the true creator. He did not prove
otherwise throughout his Meditations. The questions of whether or not God exists
has not been proven with profound proof. He many have been deceived all
throughout his Mediations. In the same Meditation, Descartes raises the idea of the
existenceof humanbeings. Their existence derived from a infinite substance, which
is God. God is the only source for which humans exist, and would not without Him.
This is a metaphysical idea that he believes, but others may not. In other disciplines,
such as natural science, may say otherwise in regards to the source of existence.
Human evolutionary disciplines have actual data from early times, further rendering
and coming closer to the actual truth to where humans actually came from. God as a
source is merely always an idea, and never an actual data. Also, from the previous

current form of government. In 1911, a revolution was led by Sun Yat Sen in China

The Yellow Wallpaper, By Charlotte Perkins Gilman
At what point does an individual come to the realization that they are trapped within
an internal perpetual prison? Many women during the 19th century suffered from
countless diseases and disorders that went untreated and society had deemed their
voice powerless and useless. According to the University of Toledo Libraries Women
were especially vulnerable to inadequate diagnoses and treatment in 19th century
America. It was commonly believed that most physical ailments of women were
caused by their sexual organs or mental disorders, resulting in painful, sometimes
lethal treatments. Within the oeuvre of Charlotte Perkins GilmanThe Yellow

health of women, which ultimately led to the mental instability of countless females.
In an era of male chauvinism in which women were to be seen and not heard, had

A Rush Of Blood To The Head Analysis
A Rush of Cash, Love, and 9/11 to the Head Coldplay s sophomore album A Rush of

September 11th terrorist attacks, and the song, A Rush of Blood to the Head in
particular has many interesting elements pointing towards that event as inspiration.
The lead singer of Coldplay, Chris Martin, has said that the song is an homage to
Johnny Cashs way of singing because Martin wanted to sing a song in a low key
like that of Cash. A literal analysis of the lyrics interpret a man who is very

The United States Judicial System
Abstract
The judiciary plays a very important role in the system. It helps in establishing the
rule of the law in the state and in the country. In United States of America no one is

process of selection of judges who plays the key role in maintaining the rule of law
to make transparent and fair (Goldman, S. 1999). The methods of selection of the
judicial sector have varied substantially in the United States. As long as there has

The Stonewall Rebellion Or Stonewall Riots
The Stonewall Rebellion or Stonewall Riots was a series of violent riots that took
place between gay and trans activists, drag queens, and other patrons of The
Stonewall Inn against the police after a raid had been carried out by the Sixth
Precinct police. The days and rebellions that followed are monumental moments in
LGBT and World history.
For New York s gay and trans communities the 1960 s marks a turning point in their
history; Sodomy had been reduced to a misdemeanour, with a maximum sentence of
six months in prison, the anti gay accommodation rules of the New York State Liquor
Authority had been overturned, allowing homosexuals to congregate and be served
alcoholic beverages in bars, The American Psychiatric Association reclassified...

Nevertheless, it became a nightly home to homeless youth and runaways, drag
queens, people of colour, and other minorities who were often not accepted in gay
spaces. Among its patrons was African American, Trans, Gay, and AIDS activist, sex
worker, and drag queen Martha P. Johnson. Who would famously claim that the P.
stood for Pay it No Mind .
The Stonewall Inn had been registered as a private Bottle Bar which meant patrons
were expected to bring their own liquor. The Genovese Family would often bribe
the Sixth Precinct to turn a blind eye to the activities occurring in inn. However, in
the early hours of June 28th 1969 and readied with a warrant for storing and selling
liquor without a licence; the police prepared to raid The Stonewall Inn.
The raid began just after 3a.m, and the police found the illegal liquor and began
arresting employees while the crowd booed but remained otherwise calm. Howard
Smith, a village voice reporter who stayed with the police throughout the riot
reported During the gay power riots at the Stonewall last Friday night I found

enlightening. After arresting some of the employees, including the bartender,

Mabo Decision Of 1992 Essay
The Mabo decision of 1992 was hailed as a landmark case in the history of
indigenous white relations in Australia. Overturning centuries of injustice, as well as
the myth of right by terra nullius , the case prompted the passing of the Native Title
Act of 1993, which affirmed native title and asserted that native Australians
possessed their land under common law, and in doing so ushered in a new era of
equality in Australian society. However, though correctly lauded as a milestone in
recognition of aboriginals as valid legal entities, the act was not without its problems,
and in truth has had little impact on Australian society as a whole. As we shall see,
the trend of positive reform existent in the act was not supported in practice, and
aboriginal Australians remain at the mercy of Western courts when it comes to their
land. Though the Mabo decision and the subsequent Native TitleAct went some way
to correcting past injustices, its actual impact on Australian society has been
negligible.

The Act does not allow for claims in all of Australiaonly in areas that are currently
unoccupied or have no clear ownership. Then there is the fact that any financial
benefit gained by a successful claim is in large siphoned off to legal teams, meaning
that aboriginal communities themselves don t stand to profit.
Perhaps the best known example of the Native Title Act failing to support those it
purported to protect concerns the 1998 Yorta Yorta case. As one of the first legal
challenges by native people following the passing of the act, the Yorta Yorta case was
an opportunity to prove that things really had changed after Mabo. Sadly though, the
failings of the legislation were brought into sharp focus, and the Yorta Yorta claim
failed, under insufficient evidence to support uninterrupted connection to the
Essay On Sufism
Sufism or taб№Јawwuf is defined as the inner, mystical dimension of Islam. Sufism is
a tradition rooted in the Quran and Prophet Muhammad. It includes the study of
religious Islamic learning, which then takes on a mystical quality from the
interpretation of traditional subjects in terms of internal experiences of the soul.
Sufismseems to have originated first in Iraq and then became established in iran,
especially Khurasan. By the 10th century Sufism was a well established movement
with a large literature. Everything has an external (zahir) and an internal (batim)
aspect. If religious Islamic law is the external form, then Sufism is its inner meaning.
It emphasized on devotion to god and universal brotherhood. Earliest Sufi saint in

The Characteristics Of Jesus Christ And The Counseling
World
The world is full of counselors, therapists, psychologist, and many more mental help
specialists but what can be difficult is attempting to discover what makes a counselor
great. It can be agreed upon that some of the characteristics that make up a great
counselor include, but are not limited to: empathy, compassion, being nonjudgmental,
trust, confidentiality, and commitment. These are all traits of JesusChrist who is
referred to as the Great Counselor. It has taken the mental health industry decades to
even begin to reach the place Jesus reached in His three years of ministry. By
comparing Jesus and the counselingworld one can see why Jesus is referred to as the
Great Counselor and where the counseling world does well in helping individuals
but still falls short. Throughout the Bible we hear Jesus refered to as the Great
Counselor, that He is the Messiah, the Great Healer. The Bible does not merely
claim this but later shows the statements to be true during Jesus ministry. While
Jesus was alive on this earth He was criticized for who He chose to spend time with
tax collectors and sinners, the rejects of the society and although Jesus was seen as
above them He did not judge them. Instead He says to the Phariseesquestioning Him
in Mark 2:13 17, Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are
sick. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners (New International Version). This
passage is clearly referring to salvation but it can also be taken

Development For An Adolescent Heading Into Young
Adulthood
Socioemotional development for an adolescent heading into young adulthood can
be a very complex and difficult stage to grasp and to fully understand especially if
they are gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgender (LGBT). Having emotions of
affection towards someone of the same sex can be quite confusing when you are
coming into adulthood. Many questions and many more emotions arise when
trying to deal with the situation. Now, throw in some religion and what do you
get? Chaos, fear and even more confusion. One man and one women is how it
always supposed to be, right? Am I going against what the Bible says or even how
I was raised? What do I do? What would my friends and family think? WHAT
ABOUT MY PARENTS? Should I come out or keep this a secret? As an
adolescence raised in a society that is well known for its traditional values of only
one man and one woman, they begin to question and challenge the very existence of
those values as they come into early adulthood. In today s society, LGBT
adolescences coming into young adulthood are becoming more exposed to
discriminations against LGBT such as those of North Carolina s new anti LGBT law
or the even more extensive bill that was recently passed in Mississippi that would
protect and encourage business owners in the state to discriminate against people of
the LGBT community. How would this effect a young LGBT adult coming into the
workforce? For my Signature Assignment, I will be focusing on the socioemotional

My Story Of My Life
Hi Kim, I just wanted to tell you a little bit about my story. I got sucked in when I
was 21. At the time I was already having a crisis of faith. On top of that I became
incredibly disillusioned with college. I was in the wrong major but at the time it just
felt like my life was going nowhere. I prayed to God whom I didn t even know if I
believed in, and the rest is history. They were the first people to come along and I
was so weak at the time I could be swayed whatever way the wind blew. I had an
incredibly pushy bibleteacher that basically tried to befriend me then would
threaten to quit studying the Bible with me if I wasn t making progress. And guess
who defined what progress meant. It wasn t coming to know who God is and
coming to love him and his son. It was doing the assigned watchtower tasks. So I
did them and was just kind of drug along for the ride. Eventually I was baptized,
pioneering and going along with the flow. I had my doubts I can t remember a time
when I didn t at least have slight doubts. But at the time I was doing what they said,
partaking fully in there brainwashing program.
Finally I was at the 2014 convention and I was at the hotel talking to the girl who
studied the Bible with me. It was the 100 year anniversary of 1914. Everyone was
hyped up about the comments in the KM saying, could this be our last memorial? I
made the comment to my teacher who had become my friend asking her, do you
really think that this system is going to end soon.

It is one of the oldest places from La Alhambra , therefor is very difficult to know

of the places which was more times destructed and rebuilt by the Christians.
It was the place where political events and where celebrated and sometimes it was

it was only open at the top of the roof. It is situated in a way that in the past the

Essay on The Jaguar Smile
The Jaguar Smile: A Nicaraguan Journey written by Salman Rushdie, is a non fiction
book that gives the reader insight to the internal turmoil taking place in the nation of
Nicaragua. Salman Rushdie is a British Indian novelist who gained his fame for his
fantastical novels about the post colonial relationship between cultures of the East
and West. Rushdie became interested in Nicaraguan affairs when the Regan

Nicaragua was hugely dependent on imports, and US influence was of enormous
importance. However, relations between the two nations began to plummet as the

Nicaraguan soil to help them communicate with other socialist nations. With a rising
fear of the USSR and other socialist nations, the US immediately accused it of being
a spy base. Not shortly afterwards the US began to take action against Nicaragua by
issuing an economic blockade. Because the Nicaraguan economy relied so heavily on
imports, this had a profound effect and contributed to the collapse of the Nicaraguan
economy. It was impossible to spend even a day in Nicaragua without becoming
aware of the huge and unrelenting pressure being exerted on the country by the giant
standing on the northern front (p.24). While the USSR and Cuba funded the

Why Sea Otters Decline
The reading passage tries to give some reasons to show that the number of sea otters,
a small mammal living along the western coast of North America, has significantly
declined because of the environmental pollution. On the other hand, the professor on

by the predators like orca are possible for this problem.
First, the reading passage mentions that the pollution containing oil and industrial
chemicals could pollute the water. In addition, it brings up the fact that the results of
recent samplings reveal that the level of these materials is significantly increased in
the sea water; therefore, the sea other is unable to resistance with this high level of
pollution.
Ineffective Measure Of Standardized Testing
Standardized Testing: an Ineffective Measure of College Preparedness
Every year, the daunting prospect of standardized testing brings anxiety to
thousands of high school students. Their stress is for good reason: a student s
performance on college admission exams most importantly, the ACT and SAT is a
major determinant in deciding where they will go to college. For decades, such
standardized tests have been near universally accepted as part of the admissions
process: proponents argue, as Syverson explains, that such tests are the only way of
standardizing assessment when high schools have such widely varying environments
and grading criteria (2007). However, in the past decade a growing anti testing
movement has begun to poke holes in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It has already been shown that standardized tests are fairly biased, across both race
and socioeconomic status. Because such tests play a large role in most college
admissions decisions, many students are kept from attending colleges solely because
of their test scores. Shifting the focus away from test scores helps disadvantaged and
minority students gain recognition, especially when their intelligence is in areas that
aren t measured by standardized tests. As Geiser argues, standardized testscores
correlate strongly with income level, whereas GPAs do not; thus, GPA is actually a
more standardized approach toward measuring success, at least in the areas in which
standardized tests are most heavily biased. Furthermore, both Hiss and the Tufts
study found that students in the test optional or unconventional admissions
approaches were more likely to be underrepresented minority students, proving that
such college programs are providing opportunities to students who otherwise likely

The Four Types Of Welding Career
Welding
Most of the dangers in welding are related to the wielder. Others are due to the
environment that they have to go to. In welding, most people can do most all things
people would want to do. The four main types of welding are Shielded Metal Arc
Welding (The stick or SMAW), Metal Inert Gas welding(Mig or GMAW), Oxyfuel
Gas Welding (Oxyfuel or OFW) and Tungsten Inert Gas welding (Tig). Welding is
also a great career path because it pays well. The only drawback to it is that the
wielder will have to travel. In welding, there are three main careers they can go
into. There are structural, pipe, and Tig welding. Welding has a lot of big names.
Lincoln and Miller are two of the biggest welding companies in the world. Even
though welding is a dangerous job, welding is a good career because there are many
different things people can do in a welding career and many types of jobs in a
welding career.
There are a lot of dangers in welding. Some of the dangers are ergonomic, electric
shock, ultraviolet light, toxic fumes and gases, heat, and noise. Ergonomic is a
danger because the work environment the wielder never knows where the wielder
will be working. The work conditions can range from really cold to really hot. In
the workplace the wielder could be welding anywhere from the top of skyscrapers to
the bottom of the oceans. The ultraviolet light in welding is harmful because it is like
the radiation from the sun and it can damage the wielder s skin. The ultraviolet light is
The Renaissance Essay
The Renaissance
Renaissance is the period of European history that saw a renewed interest in the arts.
The Renaissance began in 14th century Italy and spread to the rest of Europe in the
16th and 17th centuries. In this period, the fragmented feudal society of the Middle
Ages, with its agricultural economy and church dominated intellectual and cultural
life, was transformed into a society increasingly dominated by central political
institutions, with an urban, commercial economy and lay patronage of education, the
arts, and music. The term renaissance, meaning literally rebirth. Modern scholars

Medieval Italian merchants developed commercial and financial techniques, such as
bookkeeping and bills of exchange. The creation of the public debt, a concept
unknown in ancient times, allowed these cities to finance their territorial expansion
through military conquest. Their merchants controlled commerce and finance across
Europe. This fluid mercantile society contrasted sharply with the rural, tradition
bound society of medieval Europe; it was less hierarchical and more concerned with
secular objectives.
The recovery and study of the classics entailed the creation of new disciplines
classical philology and archaeology, numismatics, and epigraphy and critically
affected the development of older ones. In art, the decisive break with medieval
tradition occurred in Florence about 1420 with the invention of linear perspective,
which made it possible to represent three dimensional space on a flat surface. The
works of the architect Filippo Brunelleschi and the painter Masaccio are dazzling
examples of the uses of this technique.
Donatello, who is considered the founder of modern sculpture, created the bronze
David, the first life size nude since antiquity. From the mid 15th century on, classical
form was rejoined with classical subject matter, and mythological motifs derived from
literary sources adorned palaces, walls, furniture, and plates. The
College Is Not For Everyone
Ever since you can remember, you have been attending school, either because your
parents said so, it s required by the government, or because you really want to further
your education. When senior year approaches your future is literally in your hands.
You are trying to decide which route to take. Should you take the route that most kids
take after graduation; college, or should you chose your own path. You began to
consider the cost, the effectiveness, and other problems associated with college
which makes you start to reconsider if college is actually worth it. You have to
decide whether to go to college, an alternative institute, or to get a job. Your
dreams are big and you know the chances of achieving them are less if you do not
receive a college degree. After all, a college degree is a life necessity, depending
on what your dreams are. Not everyone would agree with the sentence above,
especially Charles Murray. Charles Murray, a political scientist and author,
believes college is not for everyone. Murray himself writes, But while it is true that
the average person with a B.A. makes more than the average person without a B.A.,
getting a B.A. is still going to be the wrong economic decision for many high school
graduates . I have to disagree with Murray on that because he overlooks the fact that
when one is investing in college, one is investing in their self. The result of a college
degree weighs much more than the initial investment. In the end it is all worth

Queen Vashti was the daughter of King Nebuchadnezzar and was very self seeking

written as one of the laws of the Persians and Medes, which are irrevocable that
Vashti is never again to be admitted into the presence of King Achashverosh, and
that the king give her royal position to someone better than she (Stern 1089 1090).
King Xerxes had Queen Vashti removed from her position as queen, and she was
never summoned before him again, for the word of the king was final and could
not be rescinded. Upon the advice of his closest trustees and advisors, a beauty
pageant was held at the palace, and all of the most eligible virgins of all the
provinces were to come to Susa as prospects to replace Queen Vashti.
One of the virgins brought

The Choice is Yours
I did not mean to shoot him those are the last words Ricky s mom hears as the
police take Stephen away in a cop car, and Ricky to the morgue. Earlier that day,
Ricky is sitting at home ditching school. His mom is working long hours just to
pay the bills. Suddenly, Ricky hears a knock at the door it s his best friend,
Stephen. Stephen asks if Ricky s mom is home? He replies No she s at work.
Steven pulls out a large black gun and says Now if they shoot at us we can fire back.
Who are they, and why would they shoot at me? Questions Ricky. Stephen states
firmly Your from the hood now this is family. That s all Ricky ever longed for the
feeling of family. Many youth desire companionship and support that is why they

Essay on Duddy s Focus on Wealth
In my opinion, The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz, a book written by Mordecai
Richler, is ultimately about money. Simcha Kravitz, Duddy s grandfather, would
tell Duddy as a child that a man without land is nobody. These words encouraged
him to live his life in a manner in which he would do anything he could in order to
obtain the land that a nobody would not possess. But Duddy does not solely focus
his desires on land; instead, his goals are set on wealth in general.
In order to acquire wealth, Duddy engages in acts of dishonesty and deceit. He does
this by exploiting the weaknesses of his friends, such as Virgil Roseboro and Yvette
Durelle, while completely disregarding the fact that by doing this, his dignity and ...

Duddy ends up forging Virgil s signature on a check in order to access Virgil s bank
account and steal his money. Although this money help s Duddy purchase the
remainder of his land, in the process he becomes a despised and wretched tyrant.
Not only does this result in the annihilation of Duddy s friendship with Virgil, but
also results in the loss of Yvette s respect for Duddy. It becomes quite obvious that
Duddy did not value his friendships as much as he did his wealth, as if he did, he
would ve earned money the proper way, as a waiter, and wouldn t have resorted to
such ruthless acts in order to attain complacency. It s quite disappointing to learn
how he would sacrifice the only loving relationship he ever had (with Yvette) just so
he can obtain land. Normally, a person who lived a life devoid of love would be
desperate to acquire it. However, Duddy still decided to pursue his dreams of owning
land on the contrary to pursuing a loving relationship that his life was in need of.
Come to think of it, Duddy s life has been morally derailed ever since he was a
child. As a child, he took advantage of the fact that as a minor, he was not susceptible
to lawsuits. He broke the law frequently in attempt to obtain more wealth. Such
examples of this would include his fraudulent behaviour with stamp companies, his
selling of stolen hockey sticks, and his distribution of pornographic comic books. In
an entrepreneurial sense, Duddy had the correct goals;
Evolution Of The Spider Research Paper
spider might have sent shivers down your back, but wait until you see our part two!
We have all of the most intriguing information about this mysterious and deadly
creature, and we are here to fill you in. Read on to discover the top eight things that
you didn t know about the spider!
Number Eight: The Spider Diet
Spiders are notorious for consuming their prey vampire style, but the technique is
necessary to the nature of the spider. The innards of these creatures are so thin that
they simply can t process solids; therefore, evolution has fit them with the ability to
liquidize their meals before consumption. During this process, digestive enzymes are
shot through an unlucky victim, and the spider consumes it by grinding it up with its
fangs. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rather, they prefer to indulge in the thrill of the hunt. Some amazing species, like
trapdoor spiders, have adapted to using tools to catch their prey.
Number Two: Glass Bones
Tarantulas are one of the friendliest species of spiders, and they are also the most
delicate. Oddly enough, a short drop can cause a tarantula s exoskeleton to rupture.
They don t exactly have glass bones, but it is a pretty similar effect. In addition,
tarantulas are one of the few spider species who do not bit to defend themselves.
Instead, if one feels threatened, it will shoot barbed hairs from its abdomen. It won t
kill you, but it might sting a bit.
Number One: Little Jumpers
Jumping spiders can be one of the creepiest species of this creature. They are often
rather docile; however, they have an extremely intimidating talent for vertical
jumping. It is estimated that spiders can jump straight up as much as 40 times their
length, which is proportionally equivalent to a man jumping to the top floor of a 21
story skyscraper. We hope you enjoyed our list of the top 15 things you didn t know

Low Carbon Economy
New Zealand s transition to low carbon economy
Notes
Background information
Aim of the report: Identify options on how New Zealand could reduce its domestic
greenhouse gas emissions through a transition toward lower future emissions
minimizing costs, while still maintaining well being and income growth. Context:
Despite generating 80% of its power from renewable sources, New Zealand has the
second highest level of emissions per GDP unit in the OECD and the fifth highest
emissions per capita. 49% of these GHG emissions come from the agricultural sector,
which is the highest share in the OECD. Emissions from agriculture are usually
attributed to direct emissions from agriculture soils, manure management and animal
grazing, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Doing so, we to establish a reference scenario and can evaluate the contribution of NZ
economic sectors on GHG emissions. Question:
How are GHG captured in the CGE model (Green NZ)?
How many sources of GHG are represented in the model and which sectors do they
cover? Potential scenarios to increase domestic emission reductions Below are a list
of scenarios relevant to the project: Strengthening the ETS
Such a scenario raises few questions / comments:
Are the ETS captured in the CGE model used for this report (GREEN NZ?) and if so,
does it allow for flexibility between regions and sectors?
If the ETS are not captured by the CGE model, are they modelled as a carbon tax?
This can potentially overlook important features, including price variations (i.e prices
behavior probably not the same between ETS and carbon tax).
Some key features of ETS or other policies, such as free allocation in ETS (or other
compensation measures), are difficult to reflect in a CGE. Increase Ghg taxes:
Carbon tax (global or specific, by sectors, gases or emission sources)
Fuel taxes on petroleum products
Energy taxes Carbon offsets Clean Development Mechanism Are they captured in the
CGE model? Abatement technologies (CSS and improved efficiency) Can the model
capture abatement technologies and estimate their costs?
If abatement activities are not endogenously modeled, then the only way to reduce
GHG emissions is to reduce
Analysis Of The Poem The Names By Billy Collins
In the poem The Names, by Billy Collins, the speaker is calmly recalling people s
last names alphabetically as he notices them wherever he goes. At first it seems as
though he is playing a game to see how many names he can think of. After reading
the whole poem several times, it becomes clear that he is referring to people who
died on September 11th. Collins uses imagery, a serious tone, and similes throughout
the poem to show appreciation for the memory of the victims that died that tragic
day. In the first stanza, it is established that the poem is written in the first person,
when I is referring to the speaker, which illustrates this person s point of view
concerning the tragedy of 9/11 during a whole day of events.... Show more content on

The speaker recollects in line 9, Names slipping around a watery bend, when he
envisions small creatures near the edge of a river or lake falling into the water
representing loss of lives as they were plunging from the burning twin towers.
Within the poem, the speaker visually describes places where individuals names
were displayed in respect for loss of life of 9/11. In line 21, he says: I see you
spelled out on storefront windows. As he is going about in the city, he recognizes
victims names on store windows that store owners placed to honor those people.
He recalls someone using sign language to spell out the name of her missing
relative from the attack. He list places where he has seen names of 9/11 victims
like in a picture stuck on a mailbox, sewn into a fabric or shirt, and on vivid
building canopies representing the memory of those lost souls as a result of that
tragic day. With the quote Twenty six willows on the banks of a stream (10), the
speaker is referring to the twenty six letters of the alphabet, which he uses to identify
actual last names of the victims within the poem. Unfortunately, two of the names are
misspelled and some names have more than one person with the same last name
according to a complete list of victims posted on the Internet. He compares these
names with fallen raindrops as they smoothly follow each other until you lose sight of
them like the dead victims from the twin towers that

Cocaine Addiction (H1)
An Ongoing Addiction Threat in America (H2)
Cocaine use has declined in recent years, most likely due to the surge in opiate use,

Even though the use of cocaine has recently declined, it s certainly not gone. In fact,
cocaine is the second most trafficked illegal drug worldwide.
One of the more dangerous aspects of cocaine abuse in the United States, is that its

Characterism In Little Snow-White By Jacob And Wilhelm
Grimm
Little Snow White , written by Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm is about an old Queen,
whose jealousy of beauty surpasses many morals when she discovers she is not
the fairest of them all, which evidently leads the story into portraying many
stereotypes and prejudices of feminism. The story begins with the concept of
women being compared to nature, when a mother wishes to have a child, who was
as white as snow, as red as blood, and as black as ebony wood . Her child, Snow
White, is given nature characteristics that show she is nurturing. These characteristics
are objects, which to some extent give the effect that women are seen as objects.
Furthermore, the backbone of the story takes place through female competition for
beauty, when the Queen learns that she has lost her first place ranking to Snow
White in the beauty category. She then orders a huntsman to kill Snow White for the
reason that the Queen strives to be the most beautiful in her land. Her actions
represent that the only thing women care about is being the best female and that
they will compete in extreme orders just to win. Afterwards, during the huntsman s
quest to kill Snow White, she begs him not to do so and he respects her wishes. The
is solely because, as the Grimm brother wrote, she was so beautiful the huntsman
took pity on her 1. Later on in the story, male gaze appears again when the prince
stats that he, ... cannot live without being able to see Snow White 1. This clearly
demonstrates that Snow White is an
History Of The Galapagos Islands
The Galapagos Islands is an archipelago of roughly 19 islands and several smaller
islets, covering 620 miles off the Ecuadorian coast in the Pacific Ocean. Both the
land and sea are protected, making the island a World Heritage site. The islands are
recognized for its unique wildlife, especially because of the lack of predators.
Visitors can interact with the friendly wildlife such as playful sea lions and gigantic
sea tortoises, up close and personal. The incredible animal speciesserved as the
inspiration for Charles Darwins Theory of Evolutionafter his visit to the islands in
1835. Each of these actively volcanic isolated isles boasts its own set of unique
species, but share similar environment, and climate. It is one of the most outstanding
marine ecosystems in the world, situated at the confluence of three ocean currents.
Prior to Spanish discovery of the islands in 1535, there is little evidence to support
any permanent settlement. Spaniard Fray Tomas de Berlanga s vessel drifted off
course on a trip to Peru and reached the islands. The English followed in 1593, and
Irish sailor Patrick Watkins is believed to be the first to establish a permanent
settlement on Floreana, when he was stranded between 1807 and 1809. In 1959, the
Galapagos was designated a national park, and in the ... Show more content on

THE FIRST PAST THE POST SYSTEM USED IN ELECTIONS TO THE
WESTMINSTER PARLIAMENT SHOULD BE REPLACED WITH A MORE
PROPORTIONAL SYSTEM. DISCUSS
The UK General Elections currently uses the first past the post system as a means of
voting in government. Over the years this form of electing government has come
under scrutiny and many have questioned whether or not this electoral system is
proportional and whether there should be an electoral reform for a more proportional
voting system.
Under first past the post, the voter puts a cross on the ballot paper, under their
preferred candidate; the candidate with the majority of votes wins government. Those
in favour of the FPTP system argue that it provides a strong government in that, the ...

Under STV, candidates are elected in if they achieve a quota of votes. The quota is
calculated as follows: total number of votes cast divided by number of seats
filled(+1). First preference votes are counted first, followed by the second preference
and so on. The candidate with the least votes is eliminated and votes are redistributed
to the other candidates, meaning no votes are wasted. Those in favour of this system
argue that it is favourable because there are no safe seats under this system, meaning
candidates must campaign everywhere not just for marginal seats thus tackling the
problem of geographically concentrated constituencies. However the process in which
counting votes takes place is longer than that of the FPTP system meaning the winner
may not be declared straight away. Albeit a way to challenge this is through
electronic ballot paper scanners.
Finally, Under the Party List system, there are two different types; Open List and
Closed List. With the open list, voters choose an individual candidate from the list of
parties and the candidate with the popular vote wins. Whereas, with the closed list ,
voters only vote for political parties and have no influence over which candidate is
elected. Those in favour of this system argue that it is potentially the purest form of
proportional representation in that every vote has equal value, making it fair for all
parties. Those that oppose this view would argue that the existence of
Marketing Challenges
Marketing Challenges in a New Economy There is a new trend in today s economy
that does not involve large chain suppliers, retailers or wholesalers. This new trend
involves companies that allow owners to rent out their physical assets to increase
their income. This new business practice puts the producer directly in contact with
the consumerto conduct business. This new trend in the consumer marketplace is
known as the share economy. This paper will discuss how this new concept of the
share economy has had an effect on the traditional economy and whether the shared
economy is creating new value for the consumer or if it is just replacing existing
business. The share economy concept involves individuals renting out their physical...

74). In the example of Airbnb and other share economy companies the transparency
of the costs of goods is straight forward due to no hidden costs and the transaction
taking place directly between the buyer and seller and no intermediaries. The impact
of this visibility also has an effect on companies that are not part of the share
economy. The visibility of prices makes for a more competitive market. Non share
economy companies face the possibility of having to lower their prices to match
share economy companies.
The share economy concept is creating new value for consumers and also replacing
existing businesses. The ability for consumers to rent tools, bicycles, homes or other
physical assets versus buying these items at higher prices, then renting creates a
better value for the consumer. This ability also creates the fallback for existing
businesses because they may not be able to compete with the pricing that the share
economy concept can offer. Existing businesses use different pricing strategies due to
the nature of their business and overhead costs, whereas companies that do not have
to consider these elements in their pricing strategy and can offer lower prices.
The new concept of share economy has both positive and negative impacts for the
overall marketplace. There is potential for consumers to get a great deal and for
individuals to
Analyzing The Cash Flow Statement
Analysing the cash flow statement would be a great place to first look when initially
analysing a company. It is difficult for a company to manipulate the cash flow
statements resulting in a honourable place to find the actual numbers. The cash flow
statement is indicative of how well the company can convert net income into cash; it
also helps to determine if a company is strong or weak. Panera realizes a positive net
cash flowand is a strong company from their statements. To receive a deeper
analysis, the three sections of the cash flow statements, cash flows from
operations, cash flow from investing and cash flow from financing should be
dissected. In the first section of cash flows from operations (CFO), Panera has had
a strong and positive growth in cash flow from their operations from 2010 13 with
a slight drop in 2104 due to the fact their net income decreased in 2014. During all
five years, Panera stands in a upright position as their CFO is greater than net
income. A ratio can be computed to see how high the quality of net income is by
adding net income with deprecation dividing by the CFO shows that outside of
2010, net income proves to be of high quality. From the years 2011 2014 this ratio
hovers around 90%, while in 2010 this ratio falters to 75% due to a high level of
cash generated in accrued expenses. Although the net income remained high quality
in 2014 it is concerning that figured dropped due to an increase in expenses.

Argumentative Essay Plastic Surgery. Research paper: Plastic surgery argumentative essay

  • 1. Argumentative Essay Plastic Surgery Writing an argumentative essay on the topic of plastic surgery can be both challenging and thought-provoking. The subject itself is multifaceted, encompassing various ethical, cultural, and medical considerations. Crafting a well-structured and persuasive essay requires extensive research to understand the diverse perspectives surrounding plastic surgery. One of the difficulties lies in navigating through the sensitive nature of the topic. Plastic surgery involves personal choices, self-perception, and societal expectations, making it a complex subject to analyze objectively. Addressing the ethical implications of altering one's appearance can be particularly challenging, as opinions on what constitutes acceptable cosmetic interventions may vary widely. Moreover, delving into the medical aspects of plastic surgery demands a grasp of surgical procedures, potential risks, and the impact on mental well-being. Balancing these technical details with the emotional and psychological dimensions requires a nuanced approach to present a comprehensive argument. Researching and incorporating reliable sources is another hurdle. Given the prevalence of misinformation on the internet, distinguishing between credible and biased information becomes crucial. A thorough investigation into academic journals, medical publications, and reputable news sources is necessary to establish a strong foundation for the essay. Structuring the essay effectively adds another layer of complexity. Developing a clear thesis statement, organizing supporting arguments, and addressing counterarguments cohesively are essential elements. Striking the right balance between logical reasoning and emotional appeal can be challenging, especially when dealing with a topic as personal as plastic surgery. In conclusion, composing an argumentative essay on plastic surgery requires a careful blend of empathy, analytical thinking, and research skills. Successfully navigating the intricacies of the topic necessitates a well-informed and balanced perspective. • 2. Data Standards And Public Health Information Data standards are a means of creating terms and methods that are common /universally understood which will assist in the efficient exchange of public health information (O Carroll et al, 2010). Health Level Seven (HL7) and its individuals give a structure (and related principles) for the exchange, reconciliation, sharing, and recovery of electronic health data. These measures characterize how data is packaged and conveyed between involved parties. It sets the dialect, structure and information type needed for consistent integration between systems. HL7 principles bolster clinical practice and the administration, conveyance, and assessment of health services, and are perceived as the most generally utilized in the world (hl7.org). Creating and utilizing uniform information measures has been found to be one of the significant difficulties of public healthorganizations as they advance toward the utilization of electronic trade of information rather than the paper form they have been utilizing (O Carroll et al, 2010). Health information is vastly available not only to health professionals but also to the layman. The growing use and availability of the internet has permitted and facilitated the distribution of information. However, without proper data standards by which public health institutions can abide by, there will be a lag in their ability to share and capitalize on the use of health information. A communal approach to representing and exchanging public health data

Persaud Case Study In order for physicians to get clinical surgery privileges to perform certain procedures in the realm of their practices, they have to obtain adequate abilities and experiences. There must be a combination of knowledge in theory and experience earned during practical situations. Without a clear confirmation of such combination of theory and practical knowledge, physicians are not in a safe position to perform any procedures. In the hospital setting, physicians must receive the clinical surgery privileges from hospital to perform any procedure there. That is where credentials are important to know to what specifically the surgeon is specialized in. For example, the fact that someone is an experience surgeon to deliver pregnant women does not mean he/she has experience and practice to operate on a woman have a breast reduction. In other undeveloped countries, I am aware of one surgeon is able to operate on people with many different issues. I have heard the story of Gynecologist surgeon who also operates on children with other birth defect. But, I like the way it is over here in this country, there is almost surgeons who practice very specific part of the body. This way, it is safer, and without much doubt one knows that he/she is dealing with someone who is trained, educated, and experienced in one particular field. In some particular cases, hospitals have granted privileges to physicians/surgeons to carry out certain procedures, but cannot depend on theoretical knowledge. Medicine is one the fields where theoretical knowledge only will not be considered as proof of experience. Also, no one can claim to be experienced through training and practice without the required years of theoretical knowledge. Both are required here, theory and practice. However, specific practice is required. For the surgeon needs to specialize in a particular area. Not all surgical procedures are the same, each procedure necessitates very specific skills, expertise, knowledge, and

But not everyone is so open to talk about it now a days when they are in public because most of what you see people doing in being on their phone. Sitting in my grandmother s house was able to show me the way that most Dominicans would treat the situation when sex is mentioned to how they talk about it to the kids. Just having one hour to sit in the living room gives you an idea that it is not talking to the kids about sex but talking about sex in front of the kids. Sitting there proved that the more the kids hear about sex being a topic that is talked about, the more likely they all are to get together and talk about what they would do. I decided... • 5. Socratic Ignorance Essay 1.What is Socratic ignorance? Socrates discovered the concept of ignorance after an oracle spoke to one of his friends stating, no one is wiser than Socrates (Soccio 103). To dispute the Oracle, Socrates went off in search and discovered that many lacked wisdom (politicians and poets) and some, such as craftsmen, had knowledge related to their craft, but also believed that they knew more than they really did. With this discovery, Socrates stated that it was wiser to be aware that one does not know all opposed to pretending that one knows more than they really do. Therefore, the term Socratic ignorance was coined and it represents that one acknowledges that one does not know what one does not know. It is the awareness of not knowing. 2.What is virtue? Socrates defined virtue as having the knowledge of moral excellence. Virtue is when one builds up knowledge by acquiring the applications of skills and the building up of character. Once this knowledge is acquired, Socrates claimed that virtue creates wealth and all else that is good. A key factor through all the stages of PE is allowing pupils to progress through the steps whilst developing their skills in order to widen their knowledge. This is why the role of the teacher is to consider activities in terms of difficulty and quality and to give children opportunities to plan and evaluate their own performance (Hopper et al, 2000, pg. 117). This illuminates the idea that throughout the key stages, the difficulties of the tasks should be increased whilst allowing students to focus on the key points of the skillbeing learnt. By bringing the added element of competition to the lesson, allows for the children to strive to be better than the other team, therefore enabling them to progress. Also, in lots of farm communities, the kids work on their family s farm. Those people s farms might possibly be their only source of income, but if the kids are at home, they can t help out. In the summers, especially, farms need the kids to help out. Some school districts don t think of that. Not only are the students getting family time taken away, but the teachers have families too. Teachers have to stay longer, and often live in another town than students too, so that takes even more time away. There are so many students and teachers who do not have time to do the things they want to do. As you can see, year round schooling limits family time, for students and teachers, and causes them to not want to come back to school, and might miss school to make time for

In Mediation three, he says: I must inquire whether there is a God [for if there is}, I must examine likewise whether he can be a deceiver... He points out that God may be a deceiver, but has no foundational basis to prove that. But when he introduced the evil genius superior earlier in his Meditation one, he said that figure may also be tricking him into thinking Godexists, and thus deceiving him. The evil genius does not want to be known, so it tricks Descartes and everybody into thinking that a subject with the name of God may be the true creator. In the same Meditation, Descartes raises the idea of the existenceof humanbeings. Their existence derived from a infinite substance, which is God. God is the only source for which humans exist, and would not without Him. This is a metaphysical idea that he believes, but others may not. Essay on The Jaguar Smile The Jaguar Smile: A Nicaraguan Journey written by Salman Rushdie, is a non fiction book that gives the reader insight to the internal turmoil taking place in the nation of Nicaragua. Salman Rushdie is a British Indian novelist who gained his fame for his fantastical novels about the post colonial relationship between cultures of the East and West. Rushdie became interested in Nicaraguan affairs when the Regan administration started its war against Nicaragua. I was myself the child of a successful revolt against a great power, my consciousness the product of the triumph of the Indian Revolution (p.4). Rushdie made his trip to Nicaragua in July of 1986. The economy of Nicaragua was hugely dependent on imports, and US influence was of enormous importance. However, relations between the two nations began to plummet as the Cold War heightened. The USSR had recently funded a communications site on Nicaraguan soil to help them communicate with other socialist nations. With a rising fear of the USSR and other socialist nations, the US immediately accused it of being a spy base. Not shortly afterwards the US began to take action against Nicaragua by issuing an economic blockade. Because the Nicaraguan economy relied so heavily on imports, this had a profound effect and contributed to the collapse of the Nicaraguan economy. It was impossible to spend even a day in Nicaragua without becoming aware of the huge and unrelenting pressure being exerted on the country by the giant standing on the northern front (p.24). While the USSR and Cuba funded the Nicaraguan army, the US financed the contras. The Contras were the various rebel groups that opposed the FSLN. The Contras received both overt and covert military and financial support from the US through the CIA. The goal in supporting the Contras was to establish a friendly government in Nicaragua and to steer them away from socialist views. Ineffective Measure Of Standardized Testing Standardized Testing: an Ineffective Measure of College Preparedness Every year, the daunting prospect of standardized testing brings anxiety to thousands of high school students. Their stress is for good reason: a student s performance on college admission exams most importantly, the ACT and SAT is a major determinant in deciding where they will go to college. For decades, such standardized tests have been near universally accepted as part of the admissions process: proponents argue, as Syverson explains, that such tests are the only way of standardizing assessment when high schools have such widely varying environments and grading criteria (2007). It has already been shown that standardized tests are fairly biased, across both race and socioeconomic status. Because such tests play a large role in most college admissions decisions, many students are kept from attending colleges solely because of their test scores. Shifting the focus away from test scores helps disadvantaged and minority students gain recognition, especially when their intelligence is in areas that aren t measured by standardized tests. As Geiser argues, standardized testscores correlate strongly with income level, whereas GPAs do not; thus, GPA is actually a more standardized approach toward measuring success, at least in the areas in which standardized tests are most heavily biased. Furthermore, both Hiss and the Tufts study found that students in the test optional or unconventional admissions approaches were more likely to be underrepresented minority students, proving that such college programs are providing opportunities to students who otherwise likely would not have been

The Renaissance began in 14th century Italy and spread to the rest of Europe in the 16th and 17th centuries. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Medieval Italian merchants developed commercial and financial techniques, such as bookkeeping and bills of exchange. The creation of the public debt, a concept unknown in ancient times, allowed these cities to finance their territorial expansion through military conquest. Their merchants controlled commerce and finance across Europe. This fluid mercantile society contrasted sharply with the rural, tradition bound society of medieval Europe; it was less hierarchical and more concerned with secular objectives. The recovery and study of the classics entailed the creation of new disciplines classical philology and archaeology, numismatics, and epigraphy and critically affected the development of older ones. In art, the decisive break with medieval tradition occurred in Florence about 1420 with the invention of linear perspective, which made it possible to represent three dimensional space on a flat surface. The works of the architect Filippo Brunelleschi and the painter Masaccio are dazzling examples of the uses of this technique. Should you take the route that most kids take after graduation; college, or should you chose your own path. After all, a college degree is a life necessity, depending on what your dreams are. Not everyone would agree with the sentence above, especially Charles Murray. Charles Murray, a political scientist and author, believes college is not for everyone. Queen Vashti was the daughter of King Nebuchadnezzar and was very self seeking and stubborn. She was also very beautiful, which in some ways was her downfall, for during the concluding week of the great feast, King Xerxes demanded Queen Vashti come before him and have her beauty paraded before his guests. Queen Vashti refused to come and be humiliated in this manner, for it was not proper for a woman to appear before a room of men. This angered King Xerxes, and he turned to his advisors for what appropriate actions should be taken against the queen for disobedience. Characterism In Little Snow-White By Jacob And Wilhelm Grimm Little Snow White , written by Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm is about an old Queen, whose jealousy of beauty surpasses many morals when she discovers she is not the fairest of them all, which evidently leads the story into portraying many stereotypes and prejudices of feminism. The story begins with the concept of women being compared to nature, when a mother wishes to have a child, who was as white as snow, as red as blood, and as black as ebony wood . Her child, Snow White, is given nature characteristics that show she is nurturing. These characteristics are objects, which to some extent give the effect that women are seen as objects. Furthermore, the backbone of the story takes place through female competition for beauty, when the Queen learns that she has lost her first place ranking to Snow White in the beauty category. She then orders a huntsman to kill Snow White for the reason that the Queen strives to be the most beautiful in her land. Her actions represent that the only thing women care about is being the best female and that they will compete in extreme orders just to win.
