Argumentative Essay On Social Media
Writing an essay on the topic of social media, particularly in the argumentative style, presents
both challenges and opportunities. On one hand, the abundance of information and diverse
perspectives on social media provides ample material for constructing a compelling argument. On
the other hand, the sheer volume of data and the dynamic nature of the topic can make it
challenging to navigate and synthesize relevant information effectively.
Crafting a coherent and persuasive argument requires a deep understanding of the subject matter,
as well as the ability to critically evaluate contrasting viewpoints. Social media is a multifaceted
phenomenon, encompassing various platforms, user behaviors, societal impacts, and ethical
considerations. Balancing these elements while maintaining a clear and structured argument adds
complexity to the writing process.
Additionally, the rapid evolution of social media trends and technologies necessitates staying
current with the latest developments. This requires ongoing research and updates to ensure the
essay reflects the most recent information, which can be time-consuming.
Moreover, addressing the potential counterarguments and incorporating them into the essay
strengthens its overall persuasiveness. This entails anticipating opposing viewpoints and
presenting a well-reasoned response, adding another layer of complexity to the writing process.
Despite these challenges, delving into the intricacies of social media through an argumentative
essay can be intellectually rewarding. It allows for a deeper exploration of the subject,
encouraging critical thinking and the development of a nuanced perspective. However, the key
lies in striking a balance between depth of analysis and clarity of communication.
In conclusion, while writing an argumentative essay on social media can be demanding, it offers
an opportunity for intellectual growth and a better understanding of a topic that significantly
influences contemporary society.

Breast Size Vs Plastic Surgery Essay
Woman have long attached self worth and sex appeal to the size and shape of their
breasts. Many go to great lengths to enhance their bustline, often taking the route
of plastic surgery to do so. While plastic surgery can give women the bust size they
desire it can also come with a price both monetary and medically. Women leave
themselves open to the same risks of any surgical procedure being performed and
have to factor in recovery time as well. Not all women have the money it requires to
go the surgical route and have begun looking for other less expensive options for
natural breastgrowth.
Breast augmentation surgeries are the most commonly performed procedure
regardless of the risks involved. Even knowing the risks a good majority of women ...

With these options, it is highly recommended that one do their research before
choosing a supplement. Herbal based pills and topical creams offer a more cost
effective solution to high priced surgical procedures and can provide proven results.
As with any routine that a person starts patience is going to be key. Results will
take time and are not going to happen overnight. A woman may try several types of
supplements before finding the one that works best for her, there is no one size fits
all pill.
Herbal supplements are a non invasive approach to growing breast size and changing
the firmness and shape of the bust line. Looking at the main ingredients a person
needs to make sure that the supplement will not interfere with medications or birth
control. Consulting with a doctor women can find a supplement that fits their budget
and medical needs.
Whether a woman can afford to undergo plastic surgery or not, there are more
options today that are less invasive to the body. Many women desire to have either
the perky breasts of their youth or just have always wanted to be a larger cup size.
Herbal supplements may be the answer to giving back the breasts that time has
changed, or genetics failed to
Professional Behavior, Communication, Boundaries, And...
My field experience has been wonderful so far for the first semester. I have gained
valuable information for the last couple on months interning at my agency. For this
self evaluation I will be describing the1 3 and 6 9 competencies I set up at the
beginning of the semester and see if I have achieved these skills. I will also address
the growth and challenges I have come upon throughout this semester. For
competency one on processional and ethical practice I wanted to demonstrate having
a professional behavior, communication, boundaries, and writing skills throughout the
semester. I also wanted to provide integrity, competence, core values, services,
dignity, and worth in the agency and my clients. In addition being aware of the
mandating reporting, parental consent, and legal consent in the school setting. I feel
the growth in this competency I have gained a lot by the agency in proving lots of
training, group supervision, and individual supervision has not only broaden my
skills but have gained valuable knowledge of what to do in certain situations. For
some of the challenges I encounter at the beginning was learningabout mandating
reporting and how much work it goes into calling, summiting the paperwork all this
is a curial aspect when doing a CWS report. For example, when doing my first
mandated report my supervisor stayed and walk me through each step to make sure I
did it correctly which was wonderful and learned the right way to do a mandated
report.

Otc Hearing Aid Effectiveness
In the United States, only 25% of the people who need hearing aids use them. One
possible reason for this is accessibility. Getting a hearing aid requires a trip to see a
specialist. Both the visit and the hearing aids themselves can be expensive if not
covered by health insurance. One possible way of getting more hearing aids to the
people who need them is to sell them over the counter (OTC). To see if this option is
feasible, Indiana University Bloomington tested the theory through a study of OTC
hearing aid effectiveness.
The Study
To conduct the study, researchers gathered 154 people with mild to moderate
hearing loss between the ages of 55 and 79. These participants were split into three
groups. One group worked with an audiologist to have their hearing aid properly
fitted and programmed. Members of another group were given hearing aids that had
been pre programmed in the same way that OTC devices would be. The final group
served as a control group and were given non functioning hearing aids. All three
groups tested their hearing aids for six weeks.
The Results
Both of the groups that received working hearing aids fared much better than those
who were given placebo units. While both of the test groups with functional hearing
aids did well, the group who worked with a hearing specialist like Audiology Island
did fare slightly better ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Jane starts a conversation with Helen, a student who was flogged without reason. She
can t understand why Helen would bear the pain and not rebel.
Jane s rebellious nature can be seen in this passage. She has a hostility towards
violent authority. This is most likely caused by her time spent at the Reeds where she
was constantly treated without respect.
And if I were in your place I should dislike her; I should resist her. If she struck me
with that rod, I should get it from her hand; I should break it under her nose.

For the first time, Jane sees Miss Ingram, observing her closely. She realizes that
Miss Ingram seems to feel that she is better than everyone else. Jane doesn t seem to
have many good feelings towards Miss Ingram.
Within this passage, it becomes obvious that Miss Ingram is exceedingly haughty.
She boasts of her knowledge subtly, and loves to make herself seem superior to
others. She is always seeking to seem better than everyone else whether knowledge
wise or skill wise.
It was not, however, so saturnine a pride! She laughed continually; her laugh was
satirical, and so was the habitual expression of her arched and haughty lip. Genius is
said to be self conscious. I cannot tell whether Miss Ingram was a
Summary Of Pina Bausch s Cafe MпїЅller And The Rite Of
Spring
Pina Bausch s classic CafГ© MГјller and The Rite of Spring seem to come from
completely different worlds. The movement style, narratives, and musical scores are
completely contrasting in the pieces. However, there is one similarity between the
two the way Pina intelligently uses the music to inform her movement. In both works
she utilizes both stillness/silence and repetition to create power and drama to match
the music.
As I watched a tall woman, stumble blindly across a crowded stage in silence, the
last thing that crossed my mind was what kind of music could accompany such
mundane yet ethereal movement. If I were to have guessed what musical score
would be used for Pina Bausch s abstract choreography, I surely never would have
imagined Henry Purcell s arias from Dido and Aeneas. On a basic level, Pina s
choreography seemed to have no correlation to the music. The sporadic rhythm of
her choreography never seemed to follow the trembling voice of the soprano or
dramatic cry of the violins. In fact, as furniture and dancers unpredictably crash
around the stage, her choreography almost serves as a second, contrasting musical
score. At first, the choice of seemed as random as which chair the sleep walking
women ran into yet her musical choice still seemed to fit perfectly.
Oddly enough, the choreography did have an obsessively regular rhythm, it just did
not correlate with the music s rhythms. In her piece, the dancers bursts of violent
movement are followed by long
The Prince And Niccolo Machiavelli s The Republic
The Republic is a Socratic dialogue written by Plato that is widely considered to be
one of the most influential and well known works in philosophy and political theory.
The Republic is largely focused on defining and explaining the concept of justice
through both a individual man and through the perfectly just city. This ideal city is
known as the Republicand throughout the work, there is much debate and
discussion over how the city should function and be run to create this perfectly just
environment. Throughout the dialogue, it is acknowledged that the republic is an
imagined city that doesn t exist anywhere on earth . (Glaucon 274) Along with The
Republic there have been many other philosophic texts that attempt to create the
model society or leader. In contrast to this style, The Prince written by Niccolo
Machiavelli is centered around how to maintain or take control of a kingdom and it
describes politics as he believes it exists in reality and not in one s imagination. The
Prince is well known for being a kind of counter to Platos Republic. The most
notable and obvious clash between the two writing can be found in Machiavelli s
criticisms of what he refers to as imagined republics . One can be certain that Plato
would have responded to Machiavelli s criticisms in a brilliant show of wit, however
Plato died in 347 B.C. and The Prince was not published until 1532. For one to
determine the manner in which Plato may have responded, one must first identify and

comedic genius, which is probably why New York Times television critic Jack

The gland is composed of two lobes that lie on each side of the trachea and is
connected centrally by the isthmus. The isthmus overlies the trachea. Surrounding the
thyroid are many muscles and vessels. It is important to acknowledge and recognize
the surrounding anatomy of the thyroid gland. The average size of each gland found
the normal adult is forty to sixty millimeters in length, and thirteen to eighteen
millimeters in anterior posterior measurements. The thickness of the isthmus is
usually four to six millimeters in thickness. Sonographically, the healthy thyroid
appears as medium to high level echoes, with the same echotexture throughout.
The superior thyroid artery and vein are found in the superior portion of each lobe,
and the inferior artery and vein can be found in the inferior portion of each thyroid
lobe. It can be very easy for an untrained sonographer to confuse the esophagus with
a thyroid mass. The esophagus can be located usually on the left side. The main
cause for nodular thyroid disease is hyperplasia. Whenever hyperplasia causes a
relative increase in volume or size to the gland it is then termed goiter. Thyroid
cancers are rare, and most biopsies that are performed on nodules are benign. Usually
cancerous thyroid nodules will appear homogeneous, hypoechoic, and are typically
taller than wide. The appearance of both cancerous and benign nodules can vary from
cystic components, calcifications, mixed echotextures, and different echogenicity s.
Hashimotos thyroiditis is the most common type of thyroiditis, and is the most
common cause of hypothyroidism in North America. Sonographically, the appearance
of the thyroid with this disease will appear course, and have mixed

with, the dominant part of exploratory studies that have thought about the impacts of

Choices the Government Made In Removing the Gray Wolf from Endangered Species
List Before the 1970s the gray wolf population was constantly declining to a number
that was nearing extinction. To help their population, the Department of Fish and
Wildlife decided that they should protect the gray wolves by placing them on the
endangered species list. After many years of being on the list, the federal government
conducted research to determine if the population had increased enough to be
removed from the endangered species list. After the government hired scientists to

The government gave the people against their move the option to voice their opinion
at public hearings which were held in multiple states before they made their decision
(Flesher). One might think that, even though the government held these hearings, the
groups that were against the removal must not have had enough people at the
meetings to help their side of the debate, or might not have shown up for the hearings.
If people that were against the removal might have shown up in better numbers, they
might have been able to persuade the government into looking into the issue a little
more. Even though these people still thought that the government had not given the
people enough options to voice their opinion on the matter, the Endangered Species
Act specifically says that the government has to give the public the chance to voice
their opinion and the government has to take all the views of the people, both for and
against, into consideration before they make their final decision ( Endangered
Species Act Section 4). Therefore, according to the Act, the federal government didn t
have to give the people that were against the government s decision enough choices to
please them, the government just had to gather enough views from each side to take
into their decision. The professors that published their article in BioScience felt that

I am going to start my analysis with the first approach Full Revenue Recognition.
The main point is to discuss the advantages and some disadvantages of this
approach for an entity. The only thing I would like to pinpoint in advance is the
fact that the majority of advantages of one approach can be considered as
disadvantages of another approach and vice versa. This point is specifically
related to full revenue recognition and deferral of revenue approaches. Statement of
Financial Accounting Concepts no 5 outlines specific criteria for revenue
recognition. In my opinion, the criteria itself can be considered as an advantage of
this approach. The first criteria is that recognition of revenue takes place only after
it is both realized and earned. The logic is pretty much clear and reasonable for me.
In addition to this, revenue recognition takes place when the entity satisfies its
performance obligations, entitling it to associated benefits. This makes sense once
again, because it is common for the entities to consider the completeness of earning
process at the point of sale. Now me move to more general advantages. In my
opinion, another advantage of this approach is that it achieves accuracy by
eliminating almost all uncertainties (cash received upfront) and risks (no
cancellation policy) associated with revenue recognition. Also, it is possible to
predict and analyze the significance of future expected costs. Future costs will be
kept low and there will be no deductibles either. This... Show more content on

Most of the construction projects are planned and managed using Critical Path
Method scheduling technique (CPM). This is evident in the research done by
Tavakoli and Riachi in 1990, in which they surveyed 400 contractors regarding usage
of Critical path method approach in scheduling. During the study they found that
very high percentages (93%) of the construction companies were using CPM for
their construction projects. This reflected that the industry is pleased with the
traditional approach (CPM) for plan and management of their projects. However, in
a survey conducted by the members of the Associated General Contractors of
America identified that the scheduling technology of CPM is vital area which
required improvements. However, if we compare CPM with LoB, a lot of
researchers have also identified that there are lot of essential advantages

An Overview of Glass
One of the most used materials in human history is glass or more specifically
silicate glass. Although some types of glasses are called crystal glass, glass is
actually an amorphous solid and does not have a crystal structure. It is used in all
walks of life ranging from homes to automobiles to laboratories. Historically, the one
of the first types of glass that was used by humans to make tools and weapons was
the volcanic glass known as obsidian. As for manmade glass, the earliest accounts
date back to 5000 BC in the middle east. Primitive methods of glass making were
used until about 100BC, when glassblowing was believed to be discovered. This
discovery made glass products popular in the Roman Empire since the development
of glassblowing allowed glass production to be more efficient and thus less
expensive. As the centuries went on more techniques were developed which
eventually lead to glass products being widespread. This paper will discuss some of
the methods of glass production throughout history, the types of silicate glass, and the
different ways that glass can be colored.
One of the early methods of glass making was called core forming. This technique
made use of a metal rod that had clay attached at one end. The end of the rod with
the clay around it was either lowered into molten glass or the glass was poured onto
the clay. The glass surrounding the clay would solidify

some legal issues that clearly shows one is better than the other. These songs can be
compared and contrasted through three main ideas: production, musicality, and
popularity. The first topic to discuss regards the beginning of every song in the

In the 1980 s, funk music was a big trend of musical style, which is why Rick James
created a funk song (Charles). Funk began to die out towards the end of the 80 s,
as Pop/Rap began to rise, M.C. Hammer thought that creating a Pop/Rap song
would be a hit (Pastorek). Anyone who has heard the two songs would say that the
beginning is very similar, if not identical. This is because Hammer illegally
sampled James track without permission, which led to many lawsuits taking
control (Benjamison Ch. 54). In the end, James won in court and was named as a
co writer for the song, as well as Alonzo Miller (Benjamison Ch. 54). A big part of
the music was the video put on MTV. In James time, MTV was very new, so he
wanted to make a big first impression, which wasn t a very good idea. The music
video for Super Freak was indeed, super freaky for viewers, when the entire video
revolved around nearly naked ladies being seductive (RickJamesVeVo). U Can t

more on Hammer s awesome dance moves instead of sexuality (MCHammerVeVo). In
the end, these two songs were definitely hits, which leads to the last point,

his dismay towards the writers of the day and laid out what he terms the writer s
duty. In his acceptance speech, Faulkner is disheartened by the fact that young
writers continue to discuss the end of man in their work. Faulkner advocates that
authors must make all efforts to help man endure by lifting his heart. Because man
leads a difficult life, writers are obligated to use their work to uplift and inspire the

6. Clear Understanding of Non Payment
It is vital that, at the outset of the relationship, the intern and the organization both
understand that the job is unpaid and that the intern is not entitled to wages for the
time spent in the internship. Although stipends are not always provided to unpaid
interns at for profit enterprises, this type of payment can undermine the
understanding of nonpayment. Moreover, if the intern is paid a stipend and he/she is
likely to be treated as an employee. Accordingly, the stipend must equate to at least

Why unpaid intern is not dead
Apparently, the laws definite unpaid intern clearly, but there are still a lot of
employers may be reasonably well intentioned but ignorant of the fact that their
unpaid internships are unlawful. With the unemployment rate increasing and the
number of jobless college students and grads growing, there are more and more
students have been signing on for unpaid internships. Those people simply want to
gain relevant job experience that may help them get paying work in the future.
According to a survey conducted by a consulting firm, more than a million American
students do internships per year. And approximately a fifth of those positions pay
nothing and even do not offer course credit.
Actually, many students say the internships they hold involve all noneducational
menial work. The jobs of many interns are unskilled and even drudgery
Adjustment Of An Reflective Self Portrait
The result of the expressive self portrait is based off a picture of myself taken
outside. In a small group, we were asked to take as many pictures as we needed to
use for this assignment. The lighting in the variety of pictures may differ depending
on where and at what angle we are standing at, so different pictures in various places
were necessary. With these pictures, the best out of all when changed into high
contrast was the one used to paint. With the use of a program that helps with
photoshopping images, I changed my original picture into black and white, which
I changed into high contrast. Adjustments were essential as some features may be
lost during this process. This image was then used to emphasize specific areas of
one s face or other parts of the body above the shoulder to express a personality trait
of an individual. In addition, this assignment is called Expressive Self Portrait,
where and how you emphasize a part of yourself as well as the use of colour is very
important. With this photoshopped picture, I used a projector to project the image on
a canvas of my choice and traced the contour of the subject matters within the picture.
When the tracing was done, I could start painting. The goal of this compositionis to
choose a single colour scheme and with colours related to that scheme, we were to
blend it using acrylic paint. As the image is a high contrast image, the black areas
were asked to be coloured while the white areas stayed white. When the

Child Labour In China
How would you feel if your child was forced to work every day just for your family
s survival? Child labour is work that exploits children mentally and physically, as
well as keeping them away from school. The International Labor Organization
estimates that 215 million children between the ages of 5 and 17 currently work
under conditions that are considered illegal, hazardous or extremely exploitative.
China is one of the main culprits. A recent study by the China Labour Bulletin in
2000, indicated that there were approximately 11,575,000 children at work between
the ages of 10 to 14 in China. This violates many articles from the Convention of
Rights of The Child. For example, article 32 states that, You have the right to
protection from work that harms you, and is bad for your health and prevents you
from receiving an education. If you work, you have the right to be safe and paid
fairly. (The Convention of Rights of The Child, В§ 32, 1990). Child labour in
China is a major problem that needs to be resolved. This essay will examine how
child labour affects many misfortunate children, whilst demonstrating how child
labour is still an uprising trend, one that needs to be changed. Showcasing why it s
so important to actively change our worldview on the exploitation of child labour,

child labour occurs. The most common reason why is because of the lack of money

Peace Like A River Courage
Schools in the US recommend that each person complete 12 acts of courage per
day, but to me, courage is not something that happens every day, it is special.
Courage is when when somebody goes and helps an injured animal on the side of
the road, or a lifeguard saves a drowning child from death. To me, courageis when
someone goes out of their ways to do the right thing no matter how scary or
difficult the task is. To prove this I read and analyzed the book Peace Like a River
by Leif Enger. In the book there was one specific character that displayed the most
courage and that was Jeremiah, Reuben, the main character s, father. Out of all of
Jeremiah s acts of courage there were three that really stood out to me: Jeremiah

Pyramus and Thisbe were madly in love with each other however neither of their

The author was especially successful in making Pyramus and Thisbe become a
main form of tragedy for the world of literature. You can see how the tragedy
inspired many famous works of literature such as Romeo and Juliette by Shakespeare
and as well as the legend of Layla and Majnun.
Finally, the tragic act of both lovers killing themselves, was it simply naivety or
was it truly the highest form of true love? Pyramus knew that asking for death, or
committing the act of suicide was cowardly however what he sought was not just
death but punishment for he believed that he was the reason Thisbe lost her life.
When Thisbe found the dying body of Pyramus she knew what had happened, and
she in turn believed it was her fault that he had died. When Pyramus killed himself,
he stabbed his side. However Thisbe decided that her heart was the suitable sheath
for the sword. The symbolic meaning behind that is hearts are usually associated
with love, and for Thisbe to die from a stab in the heart makes it almost as if death
stole her heart and her love to take back to

In 2009, the Nigerian writer Chimanda Ngozi Adichie presented a TED Talk where
she spoke about the danger of a single story . Upon moving to America from
Nigeria, Adichie was surprised to discover that American media presented a single
image of Africa as an AIDS invested, poverty stricken, catastrophic country

stereotypes and single stories are repeated indefinitely until they become accepted

Life At The Belle Isle
Every year, thousands of people cross the Macarthur bridge onto a beautiful island
known as Belle Isle. Here is a place where someone can discover all 4 seasons, view

such a rich history and majestic architecture, made this island a beautiful piece of art
and the true gem of Detroit.
Settlement of the island began with the founding of Detroit in 1701, which was
discovered when King Louis XIV wanted to find a place in the region to set up a
fur trading center, a place where they can build a fort to create a barrier to fend off
any possible invasion from the British. (Oldenburg 1983 1) The King commissioned

protection they needed, (Rodriguez 2003 10) this led to the creation of Fort

Formative And Summative Assessment
The impact of formative assessment on student s learning and achievement in South
Africa and The United States
The purpose of this paper is to examine the tensions between formative and
summative assessments with a review of how they impact student learning and
achievement for South African and American students.
Introduction
Assessment is the systematic collection, review, and use of information about
educational programs undertaken for the purpose of improving student learning and
development (Palomba Banta, 1999). Assessment is frequently divided into
summative assessment and formative assessment. The distinction between formative
and summative is made mainly in terms of purpose and timing, in formative
assessment the positive achievements of a pupil may be recognised and discussed
and the appropriate next steps may be planned, whereas summative assessment is the
recording of the overall achievement of a pupil in a systematic way (DES/WO, 1988,
para. 23).
It has been argued that all assessments can be considered summative, but only some
of them are formative (Tyler, Gagne, Scriven, 1967). Some however favor formative
assessments over summative assessments. There is a critical point to consider when
thinking about summative assessment; can test scores be used to inform us about our
teaching and learning? Oftentimes it does not inform us very well. Students ability
and achievement in learning are not measurable by one single test. Even if they can
reveal some problems
Call Of The Wild Identity Essay
Identity is something that is very important to who we are and how we interact with
others. Much of this is influenced by our surroundings and the conditions that we are

This transition completely transformed the life of Buck forever. While being
transported from place to place, his pride suffered an utter blow. He was no longer
in this domain where he could freely live. Instead, he was constantly conformed,
handled, and controlled by the power of others. One major strike at Buck s pride
occurred when he was beaten by the man with the club. After he is hit, it is clear
that, the club was a revelation. It was his introduction to the reign of primitive law,
and he met the introduction halfway (London 6). This shows that as Buck moves
further and further from home, he begins to stray away from his previous way of
life. His domestic nature fades away and the inner beast inside of him is revealed.
As Buck enters an unfamiliar world as a wild sled dog, he undergoes many
physical changes. The grim geography of the rigid north had many adverse effects
on Buck s once pristine build. One example of Buck suffering physically is when
he experiences extreme pain in his feet caused by the rugged terrain of the journey
north. Buck s feet were not so compact and hard as the feet of the huskies. His had
softened during the many generations since the day his last wild ancestor was
tamed by a cave dweller or river man (London 18). This shows that as Buck treks
across the ice and snow with the rest of the pack, his feet become weathered and
wounded. His feet are not as tough as the other dogs due to his upbringing and his
ancestral history. Along

I predict that next the Baudelaires will go to look for the sugar bowl, and while
they are doing that they will try to hide and escape the attention of Dewey s death.
To begin with, one of the first things that I predict will happen is that the
Baudelaires will hide in the hotel and will try to escape the attention of Dewey s
death. In the first place, the public and visitors in the hotel went crazy after the
death of Dewey, and they are looking for the Baudelaires or any other people who
might have been involved in the death. The hotel was quite chaotic and everyone
was talking about who might have killed him. If they do not decide to hide or run
away they will most likely get caught. During all of the chaos someone shouted,
We d better hurry downstairs, before they escape (Snicket 242). This shows that a
mob of people have already started a search party to find the killer. From this it can
be inferred that the Baudelaires might leave the hotel or hide somewhere so they
will not get caught. The Baudelaires were apart of the death of Dewey
Denouement, so the hotel guest will most likely find them sooner or later. In
addition, the Baudelaires might hide because Count Olaf has finally found them
in the hotel, and he will want to catch them. If they do not find a place to hide or
disguise sooner or later Count Olaf is bound to find them. Count Olaf is constantly
trying to kidnap the Baudelaires, and is trying to get their family fortune. Now that
he knows where they are it can be inferred that he is definitely going after them.
Especially now, the Baudelaires most likely know that Count Olaf is after them
because he knows where they are, so they will most likely hide and try to get away
from him. Furthermore, the Baudelaires might decide to hide or run away because a
suspicious man came up to them and asked if they needed a taxi. This could be a
quick getaway from the hotel and the attention of the murder.
Thesis on Marketing Unhealthy Food for Children
There is presently much controversy regarding the idea of unhealthy foods and how
companies shamelessly market these products to children. Individuals in the food and
beverage industry constantly promote the belief that they are actively involved in
providing society with important information concerning what is healthy and what is
not. Moreover, most promote their products as having no negative effects on
individuals who consume them, as doing otherwise would surely reflect badly on
their businesses. It is generally known that children are vulnerable because they have
very little experience in filtering information and foodcompanies take advantage of
this by introducing diverse methods to promote their products even with the fact that
it is likely for children to get sick as a consequence.
Many influential bodies in the food industry openly exploit children by presenting
them with alluring commercials in an attempt to get them to develop interest in
certain products. Advertising directed to children, particularly on television, is
heavily populated by commercials for foods that pose adiposity and related health
risks for children when consumed in abundance (Committee on Food Marketing and
the Diets of Children and Youth 2 301). Taking this into account, it would appear
that the social order is practically being forced to stand by and watch as children are
used as a tool to sell products.
While it is surely troubling to acknowledge that children are being used as a
My First Day In School
I was in the bathroom getting ready for the first day of the third trimester of 8th
grade, I was comfortably singing in my bathroom thinking I was alone. After
getting ready I opened up the door and look in the hallway flustered to see my
mom filming me singing. I was embarrassed and my cheeks turned bright red as I
ran towards the front door to jump into my shoes and catch the bus. I went to school
and it was a regular day, I had new classes and one of them was with my favorite
teacher, Mrs. Gates. I never thoughtI would build up the confidence to sing infront
of people ever but Mrs. Gates but i started to rethink that when my teacher told the
class that at the end of this week on friday we will have auditions for a solo of the
choir. I felt this uneasiness in my stomach and thought I was about to embarrass
myself by throwing up in front of the whole class. I went the whole day just
thinking about that solo. It was finally friday, days went by of me practicing for
the audition, I made everyone else go first. When I finally got the courage to walk in
front of everyone I belted out adele and everyone s jaw dropped. I didn t know if that
was a good thingso I ran back to my seat and hit behind my desk and sat far back in
my chair so I wouldn be noticed. The weekend went by and I didn t think much of
the solos because I did not think I was gonna make the top 3. I walked into Mrs.
Gates room feeling like my heart would stop any minute. The bell rang and Mrs.
Gates walked up
20 000 Leagues Under The Sea Research Paper
In 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea by Jules Verne, three men are captured by a
captain the forces them on an underwater adventure. Captain Nemo uses his
advanced technology and thinking to run away from society. The underwater coal
mine and how he used it was very helpful to not have to get in contact with humans.
Coal is most thought of as a land resource, and because he can get it underwater he
doesn t have to get it from land. Back in the 1860s the ocean was not a very
discovered place, so Nemo could go there without being discovered. Nemo says on
page 311, Thereby making me independant of dry land even for that substance.
Going on land to get coal means you probably would see people and have to interact
with others. Another good thing... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another technological advancement Nemo uses to get as far away from people is
the SCUBA suit. Nemo can use it to hunt underwater. Also, you never hear Arronax
describing the suit as incommodious. You can see it is very unknown on page 126
On foot? Without your feet even getting wet. may seem simple to us, but when the
book was written, it was very new and even fictional! Finally, The most recurring
piece of technology Nemo uses is his submarine, the Nautilus. The Nautilus protects
Nemo from outside people that may want to get in and limits his contact with
humans. It is a submarine, which is totally new and not many people go to the
depth it does. Also, the electricity in the hatches shoots people backwards even if
they do get on top. on page 192 it says, ... was thrown back by some invisible force.
Even if men did open the hatches it was still impossible for people to get in. Also
the Nautilus can explore places that other ships can not reach. One example is, No,
not over it, but under it... Things you can do with an ordinary ship become easy with
the Nautilus. This means that the Nautilus is very ahead of its
The Star Wars Franchise Can Best Be Described As Mixed
At this stage, my relationship status with the Star Wars franchise can best be
described as mixed.
There have been bumps in the road, but overall, I have had a lifelong appreciation,
some might say obsession, with Star Wars episodes 4 6 especially; so much so that
as a youth:
I read the novelization of Star Warsan innumerable amount of times (don t ask me
to recall anything); as well taking multiple trips to the library to read articles and
companion books about the Star Wars universe. Big deal you might say, but I will
admit, even now, to not being the most voracious of readers so this was in fact quite
a feat of accomplishment for me. Founded my own Star Wars fan club at my
elementary school granted there were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But I digress.
All of this to say Star Wars was a major part of my life. And in many ways, I can
credit these three films being one part of what got me so passionate about movies. In
fact, I give them a lot of credit.
Even as I got older and my cinematic tastes broadened and came to include multiple
genres, there were still moments of fond recollection as I recalled these films.
During my college years, I paid service to this mindset going to the re release of at
least one film (I think it was The Empire Strikes Back). If my roommate is reading
this, I hope she will confirm which one(s) me might have seen in Charlottesville.
So, you can imagine my excitement at the very mention of prequels (Episodes 1 3) ...

to see of the set).

Needless to say, it did feel like a part of my childhood had been decimated by a
world weary, adult level of cynicism. It followed that seeing these films felt more
like an obligation than an event one meets great anticipation. I feared, maybe the
magic was gone forever.
Years of dormancy followed, filled with the continued excitement of simply going to
the movies, attending film festivals and just the business of getting on with one s
adult life.
So when (again) there was a major Star Wars announcement that we would be
Queen Elizabeth Of England s Greatest Rulers
Queen Elizabeth I Arden Dowd Aug. 7. 2016 Mr. Dickerman Born in 1533, Queen
Elizabeth I of England was arguably one of England s greatest rulers. She and her
caretakers smartly kept a low profile when she was young, which kept her alive
and in line to the throne. Once she ascended to the throne she asserted her own
identity, even as she balanced the concerns of her citizens, which helped her stay
in power. She was measured in her view about religion, an important concern at the
time. Although Elizabeth was raised a Protestant, she was aware and sensitive of
the fact that many of her citizens were Catholic, like her sister and predecessor,
Mary I. She was determined that everyone be able to worship as they choose.
Elizabeth also smartly choose to remain unmarried. She had several possible
suitors, but by staying single, she appeared to be married to her country which
appealed to her people. Elizabeth I was also fortunate to have many loyal advisors.
At times she had trouble making her own decisions, and her advisors helped her
greatly. That said, if she disagreed with them, she was forceful and charismatic and
did not waiver. Additionally, Queen Elizabeth I influenced fashion throughout her
reign. All of these factors brought her countrymen s support and brought England
growth and prosperity. The time of her rule from 1558 1603, is often referred to as
The Golden Age. Elizabeth s birth was a disappointment. She was born on September
7, 1533 to Anne Boleyn,

Discussion of Instructional Problem American college students know research and
essay writing is an inevitable aspect of their educational career. Gathering research
based materials and paraphrasing this information can be daunting for some English
speaking students. For college bound English as a Second Language (ESL) students
this task of paraphrasing research sources and avoiding plagiarism while keeping the
information as authentic and accurate as possible can be nearly impossible. Many
ESL college students have yet to learn the techniques to correctly paraphrase the
information they gather. Paraphrasing is an essential skill needed to compose a
successful research essay. Restating research materials using one s own words by
using strategies such as rewording, using synonyms and sentence restructuring are
techniques and skills required to paraphrase. These strategies have not been obtained
to the standard that ESL students need to be

This has led to reduced interest income for the commercial banks and other financial

Credit risk is the possibility that the actual return on an investment or loan extended

credit risk as losses from the refusal or inability of credit customers to pay what is
owed in full and on time. The main sources of credit risk include, limited institutional
capacity, inappropriate credit policies, volatile interest rates, poor management,
inappropriate laws, low capital and liquidity levels, directed lending, massive
licensing of banks, poor loan underwriting, reckless lending, poor credit assessment.,
no non executive directors, poor loan underwriting, laxity in credit assessment, poor

bank. To minimize these risks, it is necessary for the
Pseudonymous Writing
Introduction: Pseudonymous Writing in the Ancient and Present Times
Pseudopigrapha is a type of writing where the author uses a different name for several
purposes. It has been practiced in numerous educational disciplines. In the earlier part
of history, there are two types of pseudonymous writing that was employed. The first
type is when the author uses an assumed name to remain anonymous and the second
type is when an author uses the name of another author. The pseudonymous writingis
widely used for varied reasons, mostly with honest intentions. The second type of
pseudopigrapha is known as forgery, and through the course of history, its definition
and function has evolved. In ancient times, forgery is an honorable practice of writing,

However, several factors have to be considered. The considerations are needed to be
put in place is to put forgery in the accurate context. In the ancient times when
copyright laws are not yet enforced, forgery is an acceptable practice. Taussig argued
that committing forgery is not rooted in fraudulence but inferred as an honorable
convention. Further, Ehrman synthesized the use of forgery to empower the
teachings of an influential individual, synonymous to Paul s clout in the early
Christianity. Having these occurrences in mind, we can then maintain the
trustworthiness of the Deutero Pauline Epistles in the same value as we put on the
epistles that were penned by Paul himself. Learning these cogitations, it is important
that we look at the message of the epistles and its significance in the formation of the
faith tradition. Although the abovementioned epistles are written by different
individuals (other than Paul), they have augmented the theology that was taught by
Paul. The epistles were written in the context of the audiences that they were
intended, because of this, forgery did not connote any negative feedback on its
teachings. In this light then, it more important to focus on the message that Deutero
Pauline Epistles convey than to look at
Romanticism And Puritism In Nathaniel Hawthorne s The...
In The Scarlet Letter three main values that all played a part in the beginning of
America; Romanticism, Rationalism, and Puritism. Throughout The Scarlet Letter
all three of these influences play a part in the story. They collide, argue, and cause
many problems. Which one of these is the most dominant in this book, Puritism.
Puritism controls people s lives and no matter how they try, they cannot escape it.
Puritism is always constant in this book. Hester is put on the scaffold because she
commits adultery, which is against a puritan law. Mr. Dimmesdale refuses to admit
his sin because he doesn t want to die because of puritan law. However, the puritan
lifestyle is so ingrained into Dimmesdale s guilt eats him from the inside out. Even
the town people believe in puritanism they are baffled that Hester broke one of the
biggest puritan laws and commit adultery. Everyone that lives in Boston at this time
in American history knows the puritan... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He thinks the most like a rationalist, because of his choice in career. As a doctor, he
knows that people are not just healed by praying, they need have to have medicine
to stay healthy. He heals many people with surgeries, modern medicine and
medicine from the Native Americans. Robert Chillingworth also makes it very clear
that he doesn t really care about making it to Heaven, he just wants his revenge. It is
made clear that Puritism is the most predominant quality in this book. Everything
ties to it in some way. Pearl is the most romantic, but even she knows that she didn t
come from a rose bush. Robert Chillingworth is the most rational, and even though
he might not care if he goes to Hell, he still believes that Hell does exist and that the
puritan values and laws are right. Boston needed puritanism to stay alive. It was the
basis for their life and everything that they stood
The Currency Of The United Kingdom
In the current global economy, US Corporations are able to expand outside of its
national border to trade with and invest in foreign companies. These international
business dealings open domestic companies to more business opportunities, but also
require more sophisticated knowledge of foreign economies, cultures, and policies. In
particular, business must be aware of how the US dollar relates to the foreign
business functional currency. In a market where exchange rates fluctuate daily, risk
related to the foreign exchange rate must be considered.
The chart above represents the average monthly exchange rates for the last thirteen
months between the US Dollar and the British Pound and Euro. The British Pound is
the currency of the United Kingdom. The Euro is the common currency of the
European Union, with nineteen of the twenty eight current member countries using
the Euro (Wheeler Hunt, 2016).
The exchange rate is shown using direct rates based on an average of the daily
noon buying rates compiled by The Federal Reserve. A direct exchange rate shows
the number of US Dollars needed to purchase one unit of the foreign currency
(Hamlen, Huefner, Largay, 2015). For example, according to The Federal Reserve
website in February 2016, an average of 1.4290 USD were needed to purchase one
British Pound and 1.1092 USD were needed to purchase one Euro.
Since the United Kingdom is one of the member countries of the European Union,
one might expect the currency exchange rates to
The Protestant Reformation Essay
The Protestant Reformation
Throughout the Middle Ages the Catholic Church was subject to much criticism and
disappointment. The Great Schism brought about a feeling of mistrust and
separation. More and more people of Europe were beginning to lose their faith in the
church s leadership. One man by the name of Martin Luther ignited a group of people
who believed that the Church had fallen away from the teachings of Jesus and their
meanings. They also believed that the Church was overly obsessed with money.
These believed faults compelled Luther to take action. In 1517, on the eve of All
Saint s Day, Luther posted up on the doors of Wittenberg Cathedral, ninety five
problems with the Church. They are more popularly known as the ... Show more

of avarice. 86. Why doesn t he build the St. Peter Basilica out of his own money
seeing that he is richer than Croesus.
Of course this action drew the critical attention of the archbishops and cardinals
who argued that Luther was acting heretical. The pope reciprocated Luther s action
by issuing a Dominican to reply to Luther. In the statement it was written В…He
who does not accept the doctrine of the Roman Church and of the Roman pontiff as
the infallible rule of faith from which sacred scripture draws its strength and
authority is a heretic. Bickering and arguing continued for a couple of years
following. Seeming as the pope and the church would never change or conform to
Luther and his people s cries for reform, Luther sought to establish his own practice
of religion; one that would follow Jesus plan for love and humility.
One of the most drastic steps that Luther took toward the breaking away from the
Church was revising the seven sacraments. Luther only acknowledged that there were
three genuine sacraments: baptism, Eucharist and penance. At that particular time in
the Catholic church, the idea of receiving the blood of Christ did not exist. Luther
believed that you could not have
Analyzing Patrick Ness A Monster Calls
A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness is a story of of a middle school boy who is coping
with many problems in his life. I enjoyed and recommend the story, even though it
is sad. The purpose, message, and theme, of courage tie along well together
throughout the book, and will impact who ever reads it. I enjoyed how the story
had both a real element to it and a whimsical element. The purpose of Ness s story
is to inform the reader of what might be going on in someone s life who is losing a
parent. Ness showed me that there s a way to deal with grief and anger, and it is to
face it head on. Even though at parts in the story Conor does not handle his
emotions well, he learns, and faces his truth, that it is hard for him to watch his
mother dying. With all of his hardships he has several excuses to misbehave, but
Conor learns that that is not helping anyone, so he finally faces his grief head on.
By facing his grief he admits to his true feelings and finally lets go. The monster
states, If you speak the truth, you will be able to face whatever comes. Even though
this is indirect characterization, what the monster says impacts Conor very much. He
knew he was going to get through it. It would be terrible. It would be beyond
terrible. But he d survive. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When facing anger, Conor and the reader learn that doing so reveals courage. The
theme of courage relates to the Author s purpose because, when someone is being
informed of what might be going on in someone s life who is losing a parent, you
need to have courage to help them and be available for them. Courage relates to the
message I chose because, to face your problems head on, you have to have
courage. Conor held tightly onto his mom. And by doing so he could finally let her
go. Conor shows his courage in this passage by finally being able to let go of his
mother. This is why courage is the theme of this
My Strengths And Weaknesses
In the current generation, there is not much to differentiate between a male and a
female when it comes to the perspective of responsibility. The aspect of strength
and weaknesses is something that cannot be used to state whether an individual is
a man or woman. Every individual has his or her set of weaknesses and a set of
things he considers his or her strength. Men and women the same, we all struggle
to maintain our lives and fight for the future. Life is somehow based on the rule of
the jungle where only the individuals with the ability and capability to do what it
takes succeeds. The moment that an individual s weaknesses overcome his
strength and the society realizes the same that is the moment an individual s world
is turned around. His or her sense of fight is lost, and he becomes a nobody in the
society. However, the modern generation has realized that weaknesses are only
weaknesses if you allow them to be. I am at the age of thirty now, already
graduated and very ready to pursue my life dreams. In fact, I have started that
journey. In the journey, however, I the role that my strengths play in achieving my
dreams and the weaknesses that I have that tends to draw me back in life. In this
document, I will be discussing myself stressing so much on my strengths and
highlighting my weaknesses. I know and understand perfectly well that my destiny
is always with me, right into my own hands and it is either I make a decision and
pursue it or rely on my weaknesses and let

Argumentative Essay On Social Media. An Example of Argumentative Essay Digital amp; Social Media Social Media

  • 1. Argumentative Essay On Social Media Writing an essay on the topic of social media, particularly in the argumentative style, presents both challenges and opportunities. On one hand, the abundance of information and diverse perspectives on social media provides ample material for constructing a compelling argument. On the other hand, the sheer volume of data and the dynamic nature of the topic can make it challenging to navigate and synthesize relevant information effectively. Crafting a coherent and persuasive argument requires a deep understanding of the subject matter, as well as the ability to critically evaluate contrasting viewpoints. Social media is a multifaceted phenomenon, encompassing various platforms, user behaviors, societal impacts, and ethical considerations. Balancing these elements while maintaining a clear and structured argument adds complexity to the writing process. Additionally, the rapid evolution of social media trends and technologies necessitates staying current with the latest developments. This requires ongoing research and updates to ensure the essay reflects the most recent information, which can be time-consuming. Moreover, addressing the potential counterarguments and incorporating them into the essay strengthens its overall persuasiveness. This entails anticipating opposing viewpoints and presenting a well-reasoned response, adding another layer of complexity to the writing process. Despite these challenges, delving into the intricacies of social media through an argumentative essay can be intellectually rewarding. It allows for a deeper exploration of the subject, encouraging critical thinking and the development of a nuanced perspective. However, the key lies in striking a balance between depth of analysis and clarity of communication. In conclusion, while writing an argumentative essay on social media can be demanding, it offers an opportunity for intellectual growth and a better understanding of a topic that significantly influences contemporary society. If you need assistance with similar essays or any other academic writing tasks, you may explore services like HelpWriting.net, where experts can provide guidance and support in tackling complex topics. • 3. Professional Behavior, Communication, Boundaries, And... My field experience has been wonderful so far for the first semester. I have gained valuable information for the last couple on months interning at my agency. For this self evaluation I will be describing the1 3 and 6 9 competencies I set up at the beginning of the semester and see if I have achieved these skills. I will also address the growth and challenges I have come upon throughout this semester. For competency one on processional and ethical practice I wanted to demonstrate having a professional behavior, communication, boundaries, and writing skills throughout the semester. I also wanted to provide integrity, competence, core values, services, dignity, and worth in the agency and my clients. In addition being aware of the mandating reporting, parental consent, and legal consent in the school setting. I feel the growth in this competency I have gained a lot by the agency in proving lots of training, group supervision, and individual supervision has not only broaden my skills but have gained valuable knowledge of what to do in certain situations. For some of the challenges I encounter at the beginning was learningabout mandating reporting and how much work it goes into calling, summiting the paperwork all this is a curial aspect when doing a CWS report. For example, when doing my first mandated report my supervisor stayed and walk me through each step to make sure I did it correctly which was wonderful and learned the right way to do a mandated report. • 4. Otc Hearing Aid Effectiveness In the United States, only 25% of the people who need hearing aids use them. One possible reason for this is accessibility. Getting a hearing aid requires a trip to see a specialist. Both the visit and the hearing aids themselves can be expensive if not covered by health insurance. One possible way of getting more hearing aids to the people who need them is to sell them over the counter (OTC). To see if this option is feasible, Indiana University Bloomington tested the theory through a study of OTC hearing aid effectiveness. The Study To conduct the study, researchers gathered 154 people with mild to moderate hearing loss between the ages of 55 and 79. These participants were split into three groups. One group worked with an audiologist to have their hearing aid properly fitted and programmed. Members of another group were given hearing aids that had been pre programmed in the same way that OTC devices would be. The final group served as a control group and were given non functioning hearing aids. All three groups tested their hearing aids for six weeks. The Results Both of the groups that received working hearing aids fared much better than those who were given placebo units. While both of the test groups with functional hearing aids did well, the group who worked with a hearing specialist like Audiology Island did fare slightly better ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A new healthcare bill known as the Over the Counter Hearing Aid Act of 2016 would greatly expand the number of places hearing aids are sold. At the request of Congress, the bill is currently under review by the Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and

  • 6. Summary On The Episode ( 3-4 Sentences ) Chapter Page # Summary of the Episode (3 4 sentences) Relevance/Analysis (3 5 sentences that answer 1 or more of the guiding criteria) Significant Quotation (supports character development) Quote Page # Chapter 6 Pages 46 47 Jane starts a conversation with Helen, a student who was flogged without reason. She can t understand why Helen would bear the pain and not rebel. Jane s rebellious nature can be seen in this passage. She has a hostility towards violent authority. This is most likely caused by her time spent at the Reeds where she was constantly treated without respect. And if I were in your place I should dislike her; I should resist her. If she struck me with that rod, I should get it from her hand; I should break it under her nose. Page 46 Chapter 17 Page 151 For the first time, Jane sees Miss Ingram, observing her closely. She realizes that Miss Ingram seems to feel that she is better than everyone else. Jane doesn t seem to have many good feelings towards Miss Ingram. Within this passage, it becomes obvious that Miss Ingram is exceedingly haughty. She boasts of her knowledge subtly, and loves to make herself seem superior to others. She is always seeking to seem better than everyone else whether knowledge wise or skill wise. It was not, however, so saturnine a pride! She laughed continually; her laugh was satirical, and so was the habitual expression of her arched and haughty lip. Genius is said to be self conscious. I cannot tell whether Miss Ingram was a
  • 7. Summary Of Pina Bausch s Cafe MпїЅller And The Rite Of Spring Pina Bausch s classic CafГ© MГјller and The Rite of Spring seem to come from completely different worlds. The movement style, narratives, and musical scores are completely contrasting in the pieces. However, there is one similarity between the two the way Pina intelligently uses the music to inform her movement. In both works she utilizes both stillness/silence and repetition to create power and drama to match the music. As I watched a tall woman, stumble blindly across a crowded stage in silence, the last thing that crossed my mind was what kind of music could accompany such mundane yet ethereal movement. If I were to have guessed what musical score would be used for Pina Bausch s abstract choreography, I surely never would have imagined Henry Purcell s arias from Dido and Aeneas. On a basic level, Pina s choreography seemed to have no correlation to the music. The sporadic rhythm of her choreography never seemed to follow the trembling voice of the soprano or dramatic cry of the violins. In fact, as furniture and dancers unpredictably crash around the stage, her choreography almost serves as a second, contrasting musical score. At first, the choice of seemed as random as which chair the sleep walking women ran into yet her musical choice still seemed to fit perfectly. Oddly enough, the choreography did have an obsessively regular rhythm, it just did not correlate with the music s rhythms. In her piece, the dancers bursts of violent movement are followed by long
  • 8. The Prince And Niccolo Machiavelli s The Republic The Republic is a Socratic dialogue written by Plato that is widely considered to be one of the most influential and well known works in philosophy and political theory. The Republic is largely focused on defining and explaining the concept of justice through both a individual man and through the perfectly just city. This ideal city is known as the Republicand throughout the work, there is much debate and discussion over how the city should function and be run to create this perfectly just environment. Throughout the dialogue, it is acknowledged that the republic is an imagined city that doesn t exist anywhere on earth . (Glaucon 274) Along with The Republic there have been many other philosophic texts that attempt to create the model society or leader. In contrast to this style, The Prince written by Niccolo Machiavelli is centered around how to maintain or take control of a kingdom and it describes politics as he believes it exists in reality and not in one s imagination. The Prince is well known for being a kind of counter to Platos Republic. The most notable and obvious clash between the two writing can be found in Machiavelli s criticisms of what he refers to as imagined republics . One can be certain that Plato would have responded to Machiavelli s criticisms in a brilliant show of wit, however Plato died in 347 B.C. and The Prince was not published until 1532. For one to determine the manner in which Plato may have responded, one must first identify and
  • 9. Comparing Nineteen Eighty-Four And 1984 Imagine a world in which you are constantly being watched. False history, monitored sex, no freedom. Obfuscating fact with falsehood becomes the standard, it is expected. Your entire life is decided for you, and you do not even know it. You are even content with it. Cogitate about how this would be, having no choice or self determination. This lachrymose dystopia is the reality of the citizens of Airstrip One, a province of Oceania in George Orwell s 1949 novel Nineteen Eighty Four. This story depicts an oppressive government that takes control of every aspect of the lives and thoughts of their citizens. George Orwell s Nineteen Eighty Four teaches its readers to not let someone else decide what everyone should do, say, and think. George Orwell s... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... George Orwell uses the name of this department to point out the hypocrisy of the government of Oceania. Along with this, things like basic mathematical facts become falsehoods. Orwell says Freedom is the freedom to say that two plus two make four. If that is granted, all else follows (Orwell). This is an extremely powerful quote because it shows how intense the lies in this society are. The rapacity of the government will not allow its citizens to know things such as basic mathematical facts because it could lead them to learn more and go against the
  • 10. Joan Rivers Character Traits The legendary American actress and television host Joan Rivers lived on in this year s Grammy Awards, after she nabbed a posthumous award under the best spoken word album category, Page Six reported. It was her work Diary of a Mad Diva which cinched her win, and her former fellow Fashion Police co hosts received the award in her honor. It was a heart warming and tear jerking spectacle as Kelly Osbourne got all choked up as she congratulated and thanked her co worker and friend on stage. It was Rivers first win at the Grammys. She was previously nominated way back in 1984 for her comedy album, What Becomes a Semi Legend Most? But it s wonderful how loved she was and how she s getting so much attention now. Rivers started her glory days by making appearances in plays and comedy clubs, then later making a guest appearance at The Tonight Show, which was then hosted by Jack Paar. She was an unstoppable comedic genius, which is probably why New York Times television critic Jack Gould, who passed away in 2013 described her as quite possibly the most intuitively funny woman alive back in 1968. Throughout her career, Rivers would dabble in plays, movies and talk shows, either as an actress, writer, or host. Rivers was nominated in 1994 for a Tony Award for Best Actress in a Play for her performance in Sally Marr...and her escorts. She gained further fame and recognition after she began co hosting the E! Celebrity show called Fashion Police from 2010 to 2014. She was well known for her fearless tact and opinionated views. This probably lead her to market a line of jewelry and apparel on he QVC shopping channel. She also starred in a reality series with her daughter called Joan Melissa: Joan Knows Best? from 2011 to 2014, and became the subject of the documentary entitled Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work back in

The gland is composed of two lobes that lie on each side of the trachea and is connected centrally by the isthmus. The isthmus overlies the trachea. Surrounding the thyroid are many muscles and vessels. It is important to acknowledge and recognize the surrounding anatomy of the thyroid gland. The average size of each gland found the normal adult is forty to sixty millimeters in length, and thirteen to eighteen millimeters in anterior posterior measurements. The thickness of the isthmus is usually four to six millimeters in thickness. Sonographically, the healthy thyroid appears as medium to high level echoes, with the same echotexture throughout. The superior thyroid artery and vein are found in the superior portion of each lobe, and the inferior artery and vein can be found in the inferior portion of each thyroid lobe. It can be very easy for an untrained sonographer to confuse the esophagus with a thyroid mass. The esophagus can be located usually on the left side. The main cause for nodular thyroid disease is hyperplasia. Whenever hyperplasia causes a relative increase in volume or size to the gland it is then termed goiter. Thyroid cancers are rare, and most biopsies that are performed on nodules are benign. Usually cancerous thyroid nodules will appear homogeneous, hypoechoic, and are typically taller than wide. The appearance of both cancerous and benign nodules can vary from cystic components, calcifications, mixed echotextures, and different echogenicity s. Hashimotos thyroiditis is the most common type of thyroiditis, and is the most common cause of hypothyroidism in North America. Sonographically, the appearance of the thyroid with this disease will appear course, and have mixed

The government gave the people against their move the option to voice their opinion at public hearings which were held in multiple states before they made their decision (Flesher). One might think that, even though the government held these hearings, the groups that were against the removal must not have had enough people at the meetings to help their side of the debate, or might not have shown up for the hearings. If people that were against the removal might have shown up in better numbers, they might have been able to persuade the government into looking into the issue a little more. Even though these people still thought that the government had not given the people enough options to voice their opinion on the matter, the Endangered Species Act specifically says that the government has to give the public the chance to voice their opinion and the government has to take all the views of the people, both for and against, into consideration before they make their final decision ( Endangered Species Act Section 4). Therefore, according to the Act, the federal government didn t have to give the people that were against the government s decision enough choices to please them, the government just had to gather enough views from each side to take into their decision. The main point is to discuss the advantages and some disadvantages of this approach for an entity. The only thing I would like to pinpoint in advance is the fact that the majority of advantages of one approach can be considered as disadvantages of another approach and vice versa. This point is specifically related to full revenue recognition and deferral of revenue approaches. Statement of Financial Accounting Concepts no 5 outlines specific criteria for revenue recognition. In my opinion, the criteria itself can be considered as an advantage of this approach. The first criteria is that recognition of revenue takes place only after it is both realized and earned. The logic is pretty much clear and reasonable for me. In addition to this, revenue recognition takes place when the entity satisfies its performance obligations, entitling it to associated benefits. This makes sense once again, because it is common for the entities to consider the completeness of earning process at the point of sale. Now me move to more general advantages. In my opinion, another advantage of this approach is that it achieves accuracy by eliminating almost all uncertainties (cash received upfront) and risks (no cancellation policy) associated with revenue recognition. Also, it is possible to predict and analyze the significance of future expected costs. Future costs will be kept low and there will be no deductibles either. This... An Overview Glass Of Glass Zakarian 1 Martin Zakarian Professor Kaner Chem 189 12 December 2015 An Overview of Glass One of the most used materials in human history is glass or more specifically silicate glass. Although some types of glasses are called crystal glass, glass is actually an amorphous solid and does not have a crystal structure. It is used in all walks of life ranging from homes to automobiles to laboratories. Historically, the one of the first types of glass that was used by humans to make tools and weapons was the volcanic glass known as obsidian. As for manmade glass, the earliest accounts date back to 5000 BC in the middle east. Primitive methods of glass making were used until about 100BC, when glassblowing was believed to be discovered. This discovery made glass products popular in the Roman Empire since the development of glassblowing allowed glass production to be more efficient and thus less expensive. As the centuries went on more techniques were developed which eventually lead to glass products being widespread. This paper will discuss some of the methods of glass production throughout history, the types of silicate glass, and the different ways that glass can be colored. One of the early methods of glass making was called core forming. This technique made use of a metal rod that had clay attached at one end. The end of the rod with the clay around it was either lowered into molten glass or the glass was poured onto the clay. The glass surrounding the clay would solidify

(Page 6) In fact, Elias Stephan, who was then HP services group s global alliance director, noted that In Europe, the relationship with the field is much better. (Page 6) If both HP and Cisco were used to utilizing dedicated sales staff with strategic alliances, what incentive was there for both firms to break the trend when dealing with an HP Cisco alliance? Page eight of the case begins to outline some of the challenges that the HP Cisco alliance had already faced concerning the sale of joint products. For example, we learn that at HP, Cisco products did not count towards a sales representative s quota and this resulted in a decline in sales of Cisco equipment by HP sales representatives. Further, if HP or Cisco sales staff had to master not only their parent company product line,

Formative And Summative Assessment The impact of formative assessment on student s learning and achievement in South Africa and The United States The purpose of this paper is to examine the tensions between formative and summative assessments with a review of how they impact student learning and achievement for South African and American students. Introduction Assessment is the systematic collection, review, and use of information about educational programs undertaken for the purpose of improving student learning and development (Palomba Banta, 1999). Assessment is frequently divided into summative assessment and formative assessment. The distinction between formative and summative is made mainly in terms of purpose and timing, in formative assessment the positive achievements of a pupil may be recognised and discussed and the appropriate next steps may be planned, whereas summative assessment is the recording of the overall achievement of a pupil in a systematic way (DES/WO, 1988, para. 23). It has been argued that all assessments can be considered summative, but only some of them are formative (Tyler, Gagne, Scriven, 1967). Some however favor formative assessments over summative assessments. There is a critical point to consider when thinking about summative assessment; can test scores be used to inform us about our teaching and learning? Oftentimes it does not inform us very well. Students ability and achievement in learning are not measurable by one single test. Even if they can reveal some problems

He was no longer in this domain where he could freely live. Instead, he was constantly conformed, handled, and controlled by the power of others. One major strike at Buck s pride occurred when he was beaten by the man with the club. After he is hit, it is clear that, the club was a revelation. It was his introduction to the reign of primitive law, and he met the introduction halfway (London 6). This shows that as Buck moves further and further from home, he begins to stray away from his previous way of life. His domestic nature fades away and the inner beast inside of him is revealed. As Buck enters an unfamiliar world as a wild sled dog, he undergoes many physical changes. The grim geography of the rigid north had many adverse effects on Buck s once pristine build. One example of Buck suffering physically is when he experiences extreme pain in his feet caused by the rugged terrain of the journey north. Buck s feet were not so compact and hard as the feet of the huskies. His had softened during the many generations since the day his last wild ancestor was tamed by a cave dweller or river man (London 18). His feet are not as tough as the other dogs due to his upbringing and his ancestral history. Along

Being as wise as he is, when ever Klaus would be confronted by someone he would always respond as vaguely as possible to conceal his identity. I predict that next the Baudelaires will go to look for the sugar bowl, and while they are doing that they will try to hide and escape the attention of Dewey s death. To begin with, one of the first things that I predict will happen is that the Baudelaires will hide in the hotel and will try to escape the attention of Dewey s death. In the first place, the public and visitors in the hotel went crazy after the death of Dewey, and they are looking for the Baudelaires or any other people who might have been involved in the death. The hotel was quite chaotic and everyone was talking about who might have killed him. If they do not decide to hide or run away they will most likely get caught. During all of the chaos someone shouted, We d better hurry downstairs, before they escape (Snicket 242). This shows that a mob of people have already started a search party to find the killer. From this it can be inferred that the Baudelaires might leave the hotel or hide somewhere so they will not get caught. The Baudelaires were apart of the death of Dewey Denouement, so the hotel guest will most likely find them sooner or later. In addition, the Baudelaires might hide because Count Olaf has finally found them in the hotel, and he will want to catch them. If they do not find a place to hide or disguise sooner or later Count Olaf is bound to find them. Count Olaf is constantly trying to kidnap the Baudelaires, and is trying to get their family fortune. Now that he knows where they are it can be inferred that he is definitely going after them. Especially now, the Baudelaires most likely know that Count Olaf is after them because he knows where they are, so they will most likely hide and try to get away from him. Furthermore, the Baudelaires might decide to hide or run away because a suspicious man came up to them and asked if they needed a taxi. This could be a quick getaway from the hotel and the attention of the murder.
  • 42. Thesis on Marketing Unhealthy Food for Children There is presently much controversy regarding the idea of unhealthy foods and how companies shamelessly market these products to children. Individuals in the food and beverage industry constantly promote the belief that they are actively involved in providing society with important information concerning what is healthy and what is not. Moreover, most promote their products as having no negative effects on individuals who consume them, as doing otherwise would surely reflect badly on their businesses. It is generally known that children are vulnerable because they have very little experience in filtering information and foodcompanies take advantage of this by introducing diverse methods to promote their products even with the fact that it is likely for children to get sick as a consequence. Many influential bodies in the food industry openly exploit children by presenting them with alluring commercials in an attempt to get them to develop interest in certain products. Advertising directed to children, particularly on television, is heavily populated by commercials for foods that pose adiposity and related health risks for children when consumed in abundance (Committee on Food Marketing and the Diets of Children and Youth 2 301). Taking this into account, it would appear that the social order is practically being forced to stand by and watch as children are used as a tool to sell products.
