Compare And Contrast 16th And 17th Century Absolutism
Absolutism
Absolutism can be linked to many terms, but the most prominent and influential examples of
absolutism of the 16th and 17th centuries, were absolute monarchies. An absolute monarchy is
when a ruler has complete control and power over their land, with no system or agency, in
opposition, to keep them in check. During the 16th and 17th century, absolutism and absolute
rulers had a strong hold over Europe. Many kings governing their lands across the continent; all
claimed to be wielding the power of god. Also a habit formed where monarchs felt as though they,
and they alone ,knew what is best for their subjects. While at the same time when that power is
held by just and reasonable men, they become some of the greatest leaders in their ... Show more

One of the best known absolute monarchs was Peter the Great. Peter earned his title through
years of patience and also through proving himself more than worthy in the eyes of the public.
His reign is one of the most important of Russian history, one of his greatest achievements was
removing the untrust worthy Streltsy who were in place as the military, and creating a new
standing army. That army would, by the end of Peters rule be accompanied by Russias first navy.
He created a navy out of nothing, leaving behind him a fleet of forty eight ships of the line and
many smaller vessels. (Document 8) .Another case was the Sultan of the Ottoman Empire. He was
in complete control of the men in place around him, and through that kept his empire running as
smoothly as he could. Unlike the Russian rule (pre Peter the Great) the sultan was blind to the
heritage of his counselors; as we can see in the excerpt of The Turkish Letters written by the Holy
Roman Ambassador. It is by merit that men rise in the service, a system which ensures that posts
should only be assigned to the competent. (Document

direction and help the creators of the campaign to make it more specific while maintaining sight of
the original objectives. The cases that are picked must have some relativeness to the topic at hand.
The Desmond Tutu Center has stated that there are specific issues with gaining awareness of the
success of the center, the important information the center has to offer and centralizing their
messaging to specific groups on specific topics. Therefor, the objective of awareness and
implementation of their mission will be the main focuses of the case studies addressed in this

Essay On Alimony Paper
When couples divorce, it is not uncommon for one spouse to be left unable to support him or
herself. In these cases, the Court may order the spouse with the greater income to pay alimony to
the spouse in need. Alimony, also called spousal maintenance, is a crucial financial safety net for
spouses who cannot support themselves after divorce. There are several different kinds of Florida
alimony that serve various purposes. Alimony can be temporary, bridge the gap, rehabilitative,
durational, or permanent.
Temporary alimony may be awarded while the divorce is pending, to be terminated once the
divorce is finalized. Temporary alimony helps the supported spouse meet their immediate financial
needs until a final alimony award can be ordered. Bridge the gap alimony is short term alimony
used to help the supported spouse maintain the standard of living they enjoyed during the marriage
until they can become self supporting. Bridge the gap alimony cannot exceed two years and
cannot be modified. Rehabilitative alimony may be awarded to a spouse so they can prepare to

With tensions rising in Ukraine, Syria becoming a site of possible military intervention and the
Arab Spring movement prolonging internal conflict, It is important to look at examples from the
near past to understand the reasons behind trends so we might mitigate in a productive and
beneficial way. Also it is imprtant to understand the trends that occur after particular events so we
might predict future needs. This report will look at two developing countries, Serbiaand Bosnia and
Hercegovina(BIH), who share a bloody past, one from the position of agresor, one of an occupied
country. The aim is to see how the the conflict and its consequences influenced their GDP, poverty
levels and migrations. And how has the change in those then influenced development work in the

The Music Of The Jazz Music
Have you ever appreciate a really nice sound in your life? This is something funny for me
because I love the Jazz music and when I have the opportunity to make my concert review, I
thought that the best opinion that I can give you is about the jazz music. I was checking around
because I did not have the opportunity to see an event of jazzmusichere in Reno so I checked in
YouTube and I choose one of the most incredible concerts that I have never seen in my life. The
international Jazz Day. One of the most important days that many people are joining around the
world and they are sharing their experiences and their passion for the music. People do not
discriminate that day, people do not see the music as before, people are one and they are sharing
together one of the best nights that they will not forget in their life. This day is the International
Jazz day and there is no problem because the jazz is spontaneous and share the most beauty thing
with you.
To be honest I was so fascinated when I was seeing the musicians with heir expressions and their
passion. They are not the same when they are playing their instruments. They are other people from
other world and they enjoy the moment and have fun because they love what they do. I can hear
sounds with a tempo very regularly and passionate. I can see that the tempo for them is something
very important because when they are playing, especially the bass master is moving his head at the
same time when he is playing. I think, this

animals like fish and birds. Both animals will settle for easy prey....already dead animals.A wolf

The risk management program in any business, especially in a health care organization is an
integral part of its day to day operation. The purpose of the risk management department is summed
up by Kavaler Alexander (2014), ...a program designed to reduce the incidence of preventable

books encourage belief in God and teach patience and honesty. They both also forbid lying and

is there so much conflict between the two? This question is the exact reason why I chose to take

This event was one of the most important events setting the position for women in each book.
In every country around the world, women s lives are shaped by the influences of both society and
by religion. The Quran, Islam s holy book, mandates that women have the right to seek
education, choose their own mates, work, possess and inherit wealth or property, divorce, and
remarry (Hurley 76). So despite the Quran s clear support for women s rights and equality, why
do many people feel that Muslim women are oppressed? The hijab head covering worn by
Muslim women has been in the news on and off for some time now and has been a topic of many
debates. Here in America, one would feel this requirement on women as oppressive, but most
Muslim women feel that this is a way to be looked at not for their beauty, but for their minds. The
issues here is that people have a hard time differentiating between culture and religion, two things
that are completely different but have a huge effect on each other. People also have a hard time
understanding things that are different. Just because it is different than how we live, doesn t
necessarily mean it s wrong.
Islamic law condemns oppression of any kind whether it is towards a woman or in general (Islamic
social systems). However, there are many contradictions to this in the Quran. Take

Asian Americans And Asian American Actors
Since the first half of the 19th century, Asian Americans have been involved in the media industry
when the original Siamese Twins Chang and Eng Bunker became naturalized citizens of America.
Roles in television and other media were scarce for Asian Americans, only available roles were
very stereotypical. Early Asian Americanactors such as Bruce Lee and Sessue Hayakawa could only

What Is The Theme Of Romanticism In Giselle Ou Les Willise
The ballet Giselle ou Les Willis was premiered at the Paris Opera on the 28th of June, 1841. The
ballet follows the protagonist Giselle an innocent peasant who falls in love with Albrecht the Duke
of Silesia, passing as a villager. When Giselle uncovers the truth behind Albrecht deceits she dies of
a broken heart and is transformed into a Willi, a supernaturalbeing that has been left at the alter.
Gisellewas created in the period known as the Romantic Era, which was named due to the influence
of romanticismthroughout Europe in the 1800s. The development of modern Europe begun
between the 1780s and 1849 which was an economic transformation that set the first stages of the
great Industrial Revolution. This period created changes that can be seen throughout the ballet
Giselle with alterations to costuming and theatrical innovations, which changed how the public
perceived dance. Themes symbolic of the time were generated and brought depth and emotion to
previous one dimensional storylines, as well as the development of how the roles of men and
women in dance went against the way of society.
Throughout the Romantic period the ideas of Romanticism in art and literature influenced the
creation of ballets. During this period ballets explored similar key themes of betrayal, love and a
spiritual connection between the living and dead, in which these themes reflected society at the
time. Throughout the romantic period society were facing hardship in which they looked to the

The Myth of Money and Success
The American Dream is different for everyone, though it is most commonly associated with
success, freedom, and happiness. The concept of the American Dream seems to have dwindled
from where it was in the past few generations. It has gone from success, freedom, and happiness to
having lots of money and the nicest possessions. In today s society, we all hope and strive for this
dream, but how many actually achieve the American Dream? Is it a reasonable goal that Americans
should strive for, or is it a myth that only leads to self destruction? According to Horatio Alger and
Toni Cade Bambara, they both believe the concept that the AmericanDream ... Show more content

Today, as well as back in the 1800 s when the story was written, most people s dreams are to
achieve success. This formally became known as The American Dream . Although this may
seem strange for everyone to have the same idea, it really isn t when you look at it with an open
perspective. Each and every person s perception of success is extremely different and individual,
which makes everyone s dreams different. There may be people who strive for big goals, and
there may be others who take it one day at a time, achieving happiness on a less formal level. In
comparing the time period of the story to our society today, there are many similarities and
differences to consider. According within the world we live today, people tend to set much higher
goals and expectations for themselves, whereas, in Ragged Dick, it was more of a day to day type
situation. When people set smaller, more realistic goals, it results in more happiness and comfort
in their lifestyle. However, in today s world, Americans have become so incredibly competitive
and successful, that the standards have been significantly raised to the point where personal
happiness is no longer good enough. After reading a novel like Horatio Alger s Ragged Dick, you
subconsciously make yourself realize the important underlying message that he is trying to portray.
To me, this message is to always be optimistic, and no matter how bad your life is, it can always

My Strengths And Weaknesses Of My Writing

me grow as a reader, a writer, and most importantly a person.
My writing has progressed during the term by becoming more specific and sophisticated on an
analytic level. I have learned to closely observe what I am reading or researching; this helping to
improve the credibility in my writing. When the grades were passed back for the first minor
writing, I was highly dissatisfied with the grade I received. In high school, I always got excellent
grades on my papers; making it hard for me to accept the challenge that was now presented in
front of me. After sitting down and figuring out my mistakes, I realized I was an extremely general
writer. I forgot to include multiple details that were necessary for the readers understanding as it
was difficult for me to analyze writing from another perspective. My first minor writing paper was

best friends. This was my weakest writing by far. After I revised the paper and still did not receive
my ideal grade, I knew I would have to work incredibly hard in this college

Human Cells And The Human Body
Kidneys are one of the most essential organs in a human body which are crucial for blood filtration,
toxins, and waste removal and maintaining and regulating the body s pH. The researchers created
kidney structures from induced pluripotent stem cells (iPS) called organoids which have the
function and structural organization of a human fetal kidneyin the first trimester. This study used the
results of a previous study where human embryonic stem cells were differentiated towards a renal
lineage. As a result, the progenitors for both collecting ducts and nephrons were generated from

originate from the intermediate mesoderm layer, they develop at a different specific time and area
from the mesoderm layer. The intermediate mesoderm layer is a germ layer arising from the
mesoderm, and it is important in the development of kidneys, reproductive system, and lower
urinary tract of the embryo. Thus, the scientists exploited this temporospatial origin difference, and
they identified the regulating mechanism behind what caused the induction of collecting duct

organoids were formed which were segmented into distal and proximal tubules, loops of Henle,
glomeruli, and podocytes which establish a vascularization network. This study is important in near

My First Semester Of English
Throughout my first semester of English in college I have gained a significant amount of
knowledge in writing. Each writing assignment encouraged me to use and try new approaches to
writing. They also encouraged me to a take my writings a step further than the previous papers I
have written before. My writingis more academic and formal rather than casual and informal. I have
taken the tools that I have learned throughout the semester and articulated those tools into each
writing project. With many hours of dedication to my papers as a whole, the time that I spent was a
time for learningand advancing the skills and tools I already had from high school.
I was surprised that the papers were not 12 pages as some previous teachers said that was what I
was going to be walking into. Although, 6 pages is still a lot for me, I felt most of the writing
projects were easy to reach the page requirement as they were interesting and fun topics.
Out of the four writing projects that we did, writing project three, the informative and surprising
essay, is the one that challenge me the most. It was a good challenge as I was determined to
answer the How and why is this important to society? question. That question was hard for me to
answer but will help from my peers and learning through class activities I was able to understand
and answer the Why and how? question. Before that paper, I have never had to relate my research
to society and write about it. This specific writing project

Carl Roe s Theory Of Persuasive Essay
Carl Woese s Vision
There have been many diverse and important discoveries found. One person by the name of Carl
Woese published a couple of articles, expressing his thoughts on the controversy of evolutionary
biology. Carl Woese is a well renowned founder of Phylogenetics, creator of the ribosomal Tree of
Life, and the discovery of the Archaea. Carl Woese s theory about evolutiontraits of microbes is
thought to be reoccurring in this generation. The Author of this Article; Eugene V Koonin,

Woese has considered every possible opposition towards his idea of the ribosomal tree, however,
with the phylogenetic methods his idea of the Tree of Life was diminished, because of the early
comparative genomics which made it clear that the tree of life was constructed by the Horizontal
Gene Transfer and led to the disbelief of the Tree of life. 1. Interpreting the universal
phylogenetic tree. 2. HGT and the universality of the genetic code. 3. Cellular Evolution. In the
first paper, the author s main focus is to inform us about the Universal Ancestor. The vital point
about the Universal Ancestor is Woese claimed that the Horizontal Gene Transfer was the reason
behind the evolution. The Ribosomal tree of life was built in reference to the Universal Ancestor.
In the second paper, the Author states that Woese for the first time acknowledged HGT and
genetic coding to be underlying direction towards Woese s claim on evolutionary era. In Woese s
second paper he believes that the tree of life is pictured as the center development of evolution.
Lastly the third paper, The Author addresses the biggest problem in the evolution of biology;

Growth of Arab Nationalism
Arab nationalism was a movement striving for Arab political unity in the Middle East. There was
undoubtedly a huge increase in an Arab sense of nationalism between the years 1948 and 1973.
One major reason for this was the creation of the State of Israel in 1948, which gave the Arab
powers something to unite against, because not a single Arab nation recognised Israelas a legitimate
state. There were other reasons, however, most notably the continuing struggle of the Palestinian
peopleand the Palestinian Liberation Organisation, Nasser and Arab frustrations with the actions of
the west.
The State of Israel was created in 1948 after the British withdrew from their mandate after years of
terrorism. In its first day of existence it was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A high point of Nasser s regime was the Suez crisis of 1956. He expelled Western imperialist
troops from the Suez Canal and it was portrayed as a huge victory, proving the Arab nations
could compete with the combined might of not only Israel but also France and Britain. Even
though, in reality, it was because the UN forced them to withdraw, it was made out to be
because of the strength and determination of Egyptian troops. Nasser was made out to be a hero
in the Arab world, and mobs were seen throughout the Arab world screaming and chanting
Nasser s name. The Suez crisis, along with the charismatic nature of Nasser, inspired belief in the
Arab World that they could finally achieve their goal: to liquidate and destroy Israel. Another
way in which Nasser encouraged Arab nationalism was through his opposition to the Baghdad
Pact a pact aligning Turkey, Iran and potentially Iraq with the Western Powers. Nasser, through
the world largest radio station The voice of the Arabs , portrayed any country thinking of joining
the pact as traitors to the Arab people, thereby stirring up that feeling of the Arabs being one
people, as opposed to individual states who can make their own decisions. As a consequence of
Nasser s campaign only three states joined the pact. This was because the people were so against
the idea of abandoning the Arab fight the governments had no choice but to abandon the pact.
Nasser was consequentially a vital component in the

Good Night And Good Luck Analysis
Legendary CBS News broadcaster Edward R. Murrow is a journalist who made history with
exposing Senator Joseph R. McCarthy. Although the story will go down in history, with the help
of the movie Good Night, and Good Luck directed by George Clooney, how much is known of
the historically accurate story. While some could argue that George Clooney and producer, Grant
Heslov, made the screenplay naive, others disagree. Many may even state that it was well
researched and followed the original weekly CBS story, See It Now, accurately. Both are easily
arguable.
In the movie, Good Night, and Good Luck, it is portrayed that many people or news companies
were too afraid of McCarthy to stand up to him. Although by the time the show, See It Now, aired
on the 9th of March, 1954, many people wanted to remove McCarthy from chairman. Many
Republicans joined Democrats in publicly denouncing him, including Richard Nixon. Many would
state that mainstream news was also very anti McCarthy, including Time Magazine and Chicago
Tribune.
Another red flag that may make people question the accurateness of this film is the changing in
minor details, including the beginning of this movie when the date of the RTDNA Convention in
Chicago is displayed on October 25th , 1985 when the Convention was held on October 12th,
1958 . Also, Murrow s keynote address is introduced by a man who talks about the issues that
Murrow reported on . This includes exploitation of migrant workers, while this is true, Murrow

Water Recycling Reduces Drinking Water Scarcity Essay
Water Recycling
A Regional Administrator named Felicia Marcus once stated, Water recycling is a critical element
for managing our water resources. Her statement symbolizes modern technological ideals to
increase the reuse of water. Also known as water reclamation, water recycling is the process of
extracting previously used water and treating it for reuse. Currently, modern technologies have
allowed the application of recycled water to enter many different areas. Reclaimed water is cleaned
and redistributed for land irrigation, to recharge ground water, for industrial applications (cooling
the water for power plants and oil refineries), for toilet water, to irrigate golf courses and to create
artificial snow. By utilizing the many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Recycled water not only helps decrease human habitat destruction, it also is considered more
effective than natural water for agricultural irrigation. At first, farmers were skeptical of using a
previously contaminated water to irrigate their food crops. However, when studied in further detail
it was determined that reclaimed water actually contributed to plant growth. The added nutrients in
the recycled water improve crop quality and development, without polluting the crops themselves.
Farmers and others that use recycled water regularly also appreciate the dependability of receiving
the reused water. Use of reclaimed water decreases the chance of future drought and insures farmers
a more stable source of water than ever before.
In contrast, there are also many problems and questions linked to the reuse of water.
Economically, the initial installation to supply recycled water to an area can be expensive, and
complicated. Separate pipes and specific labeling is required for all reclaimed water distribution.
Another concern in using recycled water is its potential health risks. A study done by three Bay
Area scientists was conducted to search for Salmonella, Cyclospora and E. Coli 0157:H7 within
water after it had been disinfected in the tertiary stage of recycling. Fortunately the scientists did not
find any of the three bacteria within the reclaimed water, further

Variance Is A Statistical Method Used For Test Differences...
Analysis of variance is a statistical method used to test differences between two or more means.
ANOVA is used to test general rather than specific differences among means. An ANOVA
conducted on a design in which there is only one factor is called a one way ANOVA. The One
Way ANOVA is considered an omnibus test because it indicates whether or not there are any
significant differences in the means between any of the groups. However, it does not indicate
which mean are different. The One way ANOVA compares the means of the samples or groups to
make inferences about the population means. The one way ANOVA, two kinds of variables:

The One Way ANOVA can compare the means of three or more groups. Furthermore, by running
additional t tests an increase 5% error increases with every t test ran. An ANOVA, on the other hand,
has a 5% error, that remains trough the duration of the test. Therefore, if one is running many
controls the type I error remains at 5% and the researcher can be more confident that any
statistically significant result you find is not just running lots of tests.
In a one way ANOVA, the null hypothesis tested by rather the population means are equal, or that
each of the group means is equal. If the null hypothesis is rejected, then it can be concluded that at
least one of the population means is different from at least one other population mean. The
alternative hypothesis, however, looks to see that at least two of the group means are significantly
different. The assumption of independence is obtained if the observations are random and
independent if they are to be representative of the populations and in no way related or dependent
on another. The distributions of the populations from which the samples are selected are normal;
This is commonly referred as the assumption of normality. The variances of the distributions in the
populations are equal. This is often referred as the assumption of homogeneity of variance.

Acute Stress Disorder is characterized by the development of severe anxiety, dissociative, and other
symptoms that occurs within one month after exposure to an extreme traumatic stressor (e.g.,

ASD in Adults
It is known that 80% of adults in the United States have experienced trauma at least once in their
lives. I simply cannot imagine an adult going through this, but it must be more difficult for
children to overcome it. It is not common for older adults to develop ASD, as they have most
likely learned how to cope with stressful events. Experiencing a traumatic event at a young age can
most likely lead to developing ASD in adulthood. ASD in adulthood can easily develop into a more
complex psychological disorder known as PTSD. A treatment that can help adults is Cognitive
Behavioral Therapy, which can reduce the trauma. This treatment is usually used and is more
effective in children rather than adults. Another type of treatment is Eye Movement
Desensitisation and reprocessing, (EMDR). EMDR is a type of therapy treatment that can help
people recover from their emotional distress in life. This type of therapy has been proven to be
very effective in most cases, and is still used.
ASD in Children
According to the website Minddisorders.com, children do in fact suffer from ASD, but not as much
as adults do. For example:
Very little is known about the prevalence of ASD or PTSD in children, and even less is known
how effectively medications and psychotherapy treat these disorders in this age group. There are
as yet no standardized screens or diagnostic interviews in widespread use for assessing either ASD

Crusades The Crusades were multiple military expeditions encouraged by the Catholic Church.
Between the years of 1095 and 1291, multiple missions were sent to take back the Holy Land in the
middle east. This involved many Christians to persecute and murder members of other faiths,
especially Muslims. Other missions also were sent to protect Christian areas from their Muslim
neighbors. Crusades continued beyond this time, but these were against enemies of the Church
closer to Europe.
Council of Nicea The Council of Nicea took place in 325 A.D. to discuss Church doctrine. One of
the biggest discussion topics was the divinity of Jesus. Different areas of Church believed different

Successful aging can be defined in many different ways. Throughout the semester we have talked

I have to be proficient in CAD, but at the time of the application I m only taking classes for

answer this, we first need to weigh the facts. First I am more than qualified for the job besides the

. In this situation the primary stakeholder is the company I am applying for, and that forces me

serve others, in order to be a servant leader. The following paper will address several key
components of the servant leadershipphilosophy related to the book: The Servant: A Simple Story
About the True Essence of Leadership, written by James C. Hunter. First, I will examine the
theory of servant leadership including its history, definitions, and major concepts. Next, the
function of this leadership style in the field of nursing and nursing roles will be discussed. Finally,
how this philosophy can be utilized in my personal nursing practice and how the theory has
sparked personal growth in myself as a leader will be examined.
History of Servant Leadership The philosophy of servant leadership began with Robert K.
Greenleaf in 1977. He first came about the idea of servant leadership while reading Journey to
the East by Herman Hesse (Keith, 2016). This is a story of a group of travelers who were served
by a man named Leo. He performed their menial chores and lifted their spirits with his song and
his spirit (Keith, 2016). Leo disappeared one day, throwing the travelers into disarray (Keith,
2016). This ended the journey of the travelers. Many years later, one of the travelers saw Leo in a
new job role as the head of the order that once sponsored the journey (Keith, 2016). Once a servant,

The New Frontier Of State University
INTRODUCTION
Computers have been around for quite a while but the introduction of the Internet opened a new
frontier for the world allowing people to communicate around the world and find information
quickly. Currently, many businesses and schools have their own computer infrastructures that they
have created and manage themselves. Many people buy software either online or at the store and
download it onto their computer, which can sometimes take hours. Storage on these computers are
limited to the physical amount that was bought and to increase this, you have to connect external
hard drives or replace the hard drive with a bigger one. Universities spend much on IT management
for its computer infrastructure and can be costly due to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Not only is this more efficient, but it allows you to work from almost anywhere and with
practically any device. In a time where everyone has a phone, tablet, or computer in conjunction
with the Internet, its ideal. It s the reason that businesses and universities are making the switch
over to the cloud. OSU is also beginning to make the step towards the cloud.
CLOUD COMPUTING
What is the Cloud Computing?
The cloud is another word for the Internet. Traditionally, you have a computer with a hard drive
where you save all your data and run programs from that computer (Griffith). With the cloud, you
are saving files and using programs from the Internet, which allows you to use any computer with
Internet access. The key advantage of cloud computing is scalability. This means that it adapts to
your needs and workload. The main difference is when it comes to resources like software
applications, storage space, etc., which have fixed capacities and upfront costs. Cloud computing
allows you to only pay for what you need, avoiding unused capacities.
Cloud computing is the complete opposite of using your hard drive. Local storage means running
applications and programs from your hard drive in your computer. Everything you need is
physically close to you, which means accessing your data is fast and easy, for that

Does My Island Have A Free Market Economy
I think that my island has a free market economy. The government controls very little of my
island. The production of products is based on supply and demand at that time. Also, we are not
organized by a certain authority, unlike a command economy. The people own the land and
resources. Prices are set by the seller, based on supply and demand, they go up and down naturally.
There are no restrictions set by the government on pricing and how much or too little to sell. The
United States has a capitalist economy. That means that trade and industry are controlled by private
owners for profit. My island has a market economy. One similarity is that both economies have little
or no control from the government. Also,

Environmental Movements Throughout Britain And Assess How...
Environmental movements in Britain have a long history with the Commons, Open Spaces and
Footpath Preservation Society being founded in 1865, followed by the foundation of The Royal
Society for Birds in 1889 and The National Trust in 1895 (Rootes 2003). These societies show the
traditional side to British environmental movements, with Rootes writing that environmentalismin
Britain was thoroughly moderate, respectable and reformist (Rootes 2003: 2). There are an
estimated 200 national environmental organisations in the Britain with around 4 5 million
members between them (Rawcliffe 1998; Rootes and Miller 2000, cited in Carter 2007). Since
1991, there has been a surge in radical protestin Britain (Doherty 1999) which have changed the
nature of British environmentalism and forced an otherwise closed political system to listen to the
environmental concerns of the nation. With reference to examples, this essay will examine the
mechanisms used by environmental movements in Britain and assess how successful these
attempts have been.
In the understanding of the environmental movement and the many organisations that it contains, it
is helpful to organise the movements in to categories or groups of shared and similar qualities.
Diani and Donati have identified four organisational types based on two conflicting differences
professional or participatory organisation and disruptive or conventional pressure (Carter 2007).
These conflicts result in the four organisation types

Radical Personal Statement
Radical is a word that is generally associated with current abominable global events. But the
word radical, means change relating to or affecting the fundamental nature of something. When I
first set out my college passage, I was pursuing a degree in aerospace engineering in the state of
Texas. This required me to take heavy math and science classes allowing me to develop a unique
way of approaching problems and their respective solutions. When I was a child I never watched
cartoons but instead viewed documentaries, with a majority of them being related to the aerospace
industry. I love anything that flies; especially in space. When I made the choice to pursue
aerospace engineering it was not made lightly. I quickly started engaging in after school... Show

Economics teaches us that we live in a finite world with finite resources and therefore
terraforming other worlds is a necessity for us. I was contributing my life to something much
greater than myself. Throughout my engineering days, I developed a strong dislike for the
world of business; I saw it corrupt and detrimental to the overall progress of humanity. The
concentration of wealth, incentives for singular/small group behavior, and the probability for
decisions to be based on the outcome of short term gains as opposed to long term environmental
gains. In short, I felt that business created a division amongst people with their own self interest
at hand and therefore suppressed the rate of progression. One day the ground beneath me and the
skies above me started to abruptly shift. I started seeing a place for business in not only my life
but the world. It was a process drawn out overtime, but there was one significant day, in which I
knew that to truly change the world you might just have to change yourself. I was use to observing
the physical and natural world around me, but I didn t have the slightest clue about the hidden sub

Surrogacy Should Be Allowed In The United States
Surrogacy should be allowed in every state in the United States because it is some womens only
option to have a child. The Akanksha Clinic in Gujarat has drawn praise from Oprah Winfrey for
making mother dreams come true. Left unsaid is that these dreams come at a cost: surrogate
mothers from very poor are forced to live in rooms with 10 to 15 other mothers, away from
families, for most of their pregnancy(Persons, Not Products). Women are so desperate to have
children they will go under terrible living conditions to bear a child for another woman. Some
women have illnesses where they are not able to have children, but still want children. If a woman
is having a hard time conceiving chances are she has an illness that prevents her from... Show more

The government does not always make surrogacy safe and surrogacy can be a very dangerous
thing. Surrogacy can get very dangerous because there is always risks for pregnancies and
when something bad does happen the families will argue and it will be a bad situation which is
why it should not be allowed at all (Surrogate Motherhood). Surrogacy should not be allowed at
all it is a danger to our world and is offensive to religions. Surrogacy is bad for children. When
kids grow up they will be confused on who their real parents are. It can be very scarring for
children because they will wonder why that would ever have to happen and how it happened.
Surrogacy can be very awkward for children when they grow up. It can lead to a very confusing
relationship between the child and the mother and no child should ever have to go through a
damaging experience like that (Surrogate Motherhood). The act of surrogacy is against many
religions beliefs and many religions do not like surrogacy happening around the world. Church
leaders share these concerns and are working to stymie commercial surrogacy legislation in states
across the nation (Persons, Not Products). Surrogacy is especially bad because women who bear
another child for another woman or person can get money from it and getting money from another
human being for a child is offensive. Churches are against all kinds of surrogacy and think it is
against the bible. They are especially against commercial surrogacy because it is like slavery.
Humans should not be given to another family involving money it is very inhumane. The Roman
Catholic Church is just one of many religions that does not like the idea of surrogacy. It is very
inhuman, even if it does not involve money. Commercial surrogacy can be found to be very
offensive because a woman should never bear another child for a different family (Surrogate

The Invisible Child By Andrea Elliot
In the Invisible Child written by Andrea Elliot, a lifestyle of a homeless girl named Dasani and
her family is shown. Elliot displays Dasani s culture, and some of the struggles that she and her
family face daily because they are homeless. Dasani is very dedicated to her school work. She
wants to be better than anyone in her familyever was so she doesn t have to worry about being
homeless for the rest of her life. In some ways I can relate to Dasani, I am very passionate about
my school work as well. I want to excel so I can be my very best in the future. However, our
reasoning s for wanting to be the best we can be are a little different. She wants to excel so she
no longer has to worry about being homeless whereas I ve never been homeless so I cannot say
the exact same. I grew up being a very privileged kid. Both of my parents worked full time good
paying jobs. I ve never had to want for much of anything. My parents have always spoiled me
with nice things, they have always made sure my siblings and I had nice clothes and a decent
meal to eat. They are even paying for me to attain a college education. Dasani and her family
however are a lot different from mine. In the Invisible Child Elliot tells us how Dasani s parents
do not have legit jobs, instead they have side hustles that only bring in a few dollars. Elliot states
(2013) that a lot of mornings Dasani was starving at school because she had no breakfast. Dasani

Literary Review of Bram Stoker s Dracula Essay
Review of Bram Stoker s Dracula Prior to the creation of the literary classic Dracula , Bram
Stoker spent his time managing the Lyceum Theatre and legendary actor Henry Irving.
According to Jennifer Dorn, when the novel was first published in 1897, critics regarded it as a
pulp fiction potboiler (Dorn). The novels declaration as a literary masterpiece came many years
later. A graduate of Trinity college, Stoker came from a middle class Irish family, the son of a civil
servant. The publication The Literary World of Bram Stoker, by Jennifer Dorn, declares that

the acclaimed Lyceum Theatre and from his memories of summer travels to the... Show more

and subjection and their dangerous and sometimes violent attempts to escape from this restriction.
(Wikipedia, Gothic Fiction). This could leave the reader wondering if Stoker was really a sexist or
a secret applauder to the feminist movement by creating female characters who exhibit such
independence. There are many interpretation of Stokers inspiration for the characters in Dracula,
and of the Count himself. According to a biography written by Barbara Belford, Stoker based his
dark vampire character on his actor friend and employer, Henry Irving. Stokers slavish devotion
to the actor can be compared to the relationship between Renfield and the Count (Miller). In the
novel, Renfield is driven mad with powerful loyalty to the Count. Belford insinuates in The
Biography of the Author of Dracula, that the relationship between Irving and Stoker was of the
same dominate nature. Belford goes forward to declare that the Stoker slyly includes in his novel
repressed homoerotic and sexual tendencies, possibly his own, that were forbidden by society
standards of that time. This issue brought forth the fears of societal sexual independence in the
Victorian era. Another speculation for the inspiration of the Count Dracula in Stokers novel is of
the Prince of Wallachia, Vlad III. He ruled over what is now known as Romania during the years

Examples Of Maslow s Hierarchy Of Needs
Maslow s Hierarchy of needs places the need to belong on the third tier; being a desire that must
be met before completing the need of self actualization. Psychologist Abraham Maslow believed
that it is necessary that someone is accepted by others and if that requirement is not met that
person can not move on to be self fulfilled. Most individuals may meet their need of acceptance
by conforming and dismissing characteristics that make them who they are. To fit in some
people go along with things that they normally wouldn t: some people follow trends, fads, and
popular opinions that they do not even cherish. This is when the need for acceptance becomes
out of control and even though they are accepted by many those who change themselves to fit in
may not meet the need of self actualization because they do not know who they really are. There s
this old saying that asks, If everyone jumps off of a cliff, would you also . This meant that even
though everyone is doing something doesn t mean its right and that just because everyone is
doing something doesn t mean it s right for you. There are many examples of people who
resisted their need to be accepted and loved to stand for what they believe in; some examples
being Ruby Bridges, Equality 7 2521, and Jesus Christ. Don t follow the path. Go where there is
no path and start a trail (Ruby Bridges). Ruby Bridges is a civil rights activist who is known for

Confirmation Research Paper
There are many things to consider when preparing for Confirmation. Getting confirmed is not an
easy thing to do, and it should definitely not be something that you do without equipping yourself
beforehand. When you are a child, your parents make the decision of entering you into the church.
They also may have forced you to go to mass every Sunday to receive the gift of the Eucharist.
After you have been Confirmed, it is no longer up to your parents to make those decisions for
you. It is also, vital for you to surround yourself with good role models that want the best for you.
You must have someone, other than your parents, to rely on when times get tough. You should
also have a good patron saint to model your life after. Additionally, you should be reading
scripture, to remind yourself of the word of God. These may seem like small things to think about
before you get Confirmed. However, these actions play a crucial role in keeping your relationship
with God healthy. Baptismis the first sacrament that you receive. It washes away the original sin

Jesus. Equally as important as receiving the Eucharist is going to Mass every Sunday. Attending
Church is not only one of the ten Commandments, but it is a sacred time of the week. It is time
that you should thank God for all that he has given you, and reflect on parts of your week that

F1 Racing
Formula racing is a term that refers to various forms of open wheeled single seater motorsport. Its
origin lies in the nomenclature that was adopted by theFIA for all of its post World War II single
seater regulations, or formulae. The best known of these formulæ are Formula One, Formula Two,
and Formula Three. Common usage of formula racing encompasses other single seater series,
including the GP2 Series, which replaced Formula 3000 (which had itself been the effective
replacement for Formula Two).
Categories such as Formula Three and GP2 are described as feeder formulæ, which refers to their
position below Formula One on the career ladder of single seater motor racing. There are two
primary forms of racing formula: the open formula ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A Qualifying session is held after the last free practice session. This session determines the starting
order for the race.[43][44]
[edit]Qualifying
A typical pitwall control centre, from which the team managers and strategists communicate with
their drivers and engineers over the course of a testing session or a race weekend.
For much of the sport s history, qualifying sessions differed little from practice sessions; drivers
would have one or more entire sessions in which to attempt to set their fastest time, sometimes
within a limited number of attempts, with the grid order determined by each driver s best single
lap, fastest (on pole position) to slowest. Grids were limited to the fastest 26 cars and drivers had
to lap within 107% of the pole sitter s time to qualify for the race; the 107% rule (as it is
commonly known) was re introduced for 2011. Other formats have included Friday pre qualifying,
and sessions in which each driver was allowed only one qualifying lap, run separately in a
predetermined order.
The current qualifying system was adopted for the 2006 season. Known as knock out qualifying,
it is split into three periods (or rounds). In each period, drivers run qualifying laps to attempt to
advance to the next period, running as many laps as they wish, with the slowest drivers being
knocked out at the end of the period and their grid positions set, based on their

Hope In The American Red Cross
As discussed in my first essay, the virtue of hope is crucial for attaining any other virtue as well as
the inseparable part of human nature. However, sometimes a burden of harsh and unpredictable
circumstances causes the unfortunate to doubt hope. In that case, according to Mary
Wollstonecraft, others should disregard their ignorance and mistaken self interest to help the
unfortunate regain the essential virtue of hope (Wollstonecraft, 211). Furthermore, as Niccolo
Machiavelli emphasizes, when disregarding their self interest, the ones helping should not only
appear to be hopeful, but also demonstrate hope in their actions (Machiavelli, 203). But how is the
virtue of hope demonstrated to others? By looking at the work of Mary Wollstonecraft... Show more

Firstly, the Red Cross is tempted by the immorality since groups tend to be more immoral than
individuals as discussed by Martin Luther King (Dr. King, 274). To simplify, an individual who acts
immorally is the only one held accountable for his immorality. On the other hand, the organization s
responsibility for immoral actions is distributed among the members of the group, which means that
none of the individuals is exclusively responsible for the organization s actions, so none of the
members can be individually punished for immorality of the organization. Since partial
responsibility involves less accountability than total responsibility, individuals are more likely to be
immoral in a group than by themselves. Similarly, Henry David Thoreauexplains the same issue by
stating that a corporation has no conscience (Thoreau, 256). Therefore, like any other organization,
the American Red Cross has to fight against immorality of the group to manifest their purpose of
helping others. But how do they fight it? Thoreau explains that even though a corporation itself has
no conscience, its members do and a corporation of conscientious men is a corporation with a
conscience (Thoreau, 256). And the American Red Cross makes sure that all its members are
conscientious by incorporating the moral laws in the organization s fundamental

Google Human Capital Essay
Human resources and human capital are different. Human resources management is the function by
which the human capital is guided and directed. As previously stated, human capital is made up of
the knowledge and skills that people possess. When a company hires an employee they are
essentially leasing the talent that the individual owns. The company does not own the employee,
their skills or abilities. Human capital emphasizes valuing people that work for the companies as
assets; employees that add to the value of the organization, and when efficiently managed
contributes to the overall success of the company in terms of employee productivity and
contribution. The role of human resourcesin valuing human capital is mainly to figure out ways to
attract and recruit the best people, find ways to make them better at what they do and bring the best
out of them.
Google appears to be a great organization to work for. As a company that thrives from the
creativity and innovation of people, they really seem to put forth an effort towards creating an
atmosphere in which the talent or human capital has an opportunity to flourish. It is quite clear
that Google will not hesitate to go to great lengths to promote a fun and inclusive environment
where the workers, or as they prefer to call them smart creatives , are able to feel like they matter.
They have decided to stay away from the traditional aspect of corporate America and chose to
implement what may be a game changer for

The Pros And Cons Of Unions In The Workplace
Have you ever been in a situation where you didn t feel safe in an environment due to its
working conditions? I have. Many times people in jobs feel the need to stay quiet and not
defend their opinions because they are afraid of possibly losing their jobs if they speak their
mind. However, what many people don t know is that as a human being, we have rights and with
those rights you are allowed to be a part of a union in search of better opportunities. A union is
when a group of employees gather together to use their strength to have a voice in their
workplace. (L.A. Union, What is a Union?) Yes, that is correct, a voice that needs to be heard is
what we all want. Of course, not all unions are good, but many have done well for the employees
they have represented. Unions are very important to have in a company because it allows the
employees to acknowledge their rights within the workplace, and also protects them from the
employers. Unions help employees have job security and better wages, as well as better benefits.
There are a few disadvantages however of having a union. The disadvantages are the dues that have
to be paid, and also there are fewer rewards given based on... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Happiness Is The Result Of Happiness
Happiness is the result of luck, at least according to the people who invented the word way back
when. The word itself is rooted in luck; Darrin M. McMahon, Ph.D., a professor of history at
Dartmouth College, says that ... in every Indo European language, without exception... the word
happiness is a cognate with the word luck. Or, as a monk in Chaucer s Canterbury Tales put it, ...
the wheel of fortune controls our happenstance, and hence our happiness. He was not talking about
the Wheel of Fortune that s on at 6:00 pm every night where people spin a giant gaudy wheel
and solve word puzzles to win money. No, he meant the omniscient wheel of fortune that
controls every aspect of everyone s life. While the wheel of fortune spun freely in some parts of
the world, the road to happiness was included more resistance in other parts. Schools of Classical
thought famous philosophers with weird names like Plato and Socrates should come to mind
believed happiness was earned. Not only did they believe happiness was earned, they believed
that to achieve it, you had to go the extra mile (or 10 miles) with moral behavior. But once you
had moral behavior, by gosh your life could be going to hell in a handbasket and you d still be
happy. Today, in modern America, happiness is something that is worked for. Complete your
goals and happiness shall be yours. You may have to fall in a couple of ditches and break some
bones along the way, metaphorically and literally, but happiness is

An absolute monarchy is when a ruler has complete control and power over their land, with no system or agency, in opposition, to keep them in check. During the 16th and 17th century, absolutism and absolute rulers had a strong hold over Europe. Many kings governing their lands across the continent; all claimed to be wielding the power of god. One of the best known absolute monarchs was Peter the Great. Peter earned his title through years of patience and also through proving himself more than worthy in the eyes of the public. His reign is one of the most important of Russian history, one of his greatest achievements was removing the untrust worthy Streltsy who were in place as the military, and creating a new standing army. He created a navy out of nothing, leaving behind him a fleet of forty eight ships of the line and many smaller vessels. (Document 8) .Another case was the Sultan of the Ottoman Empire. He was in complete control of the men in place around him, and through that kept his empire running as smoothly as he could. Unlike the Russian rule (pre Peter the Great) the sultan was blind to the heritage of his counselors; as we can see in the excerpt of The Turkish Letters written by the Holy Roman Ambassador. It is by merit that men rise in the service, a system which ensures that posts should only be assigned to the competent. (Document ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In every country around the world, women s lives are shaped by the influences of both society and by religion. The Quran, Islam s holy book, mandates that women have the right to seek education, choose their own mates, work, possess and inherit wealth or property, divorce, and remarry (Hurley 76). So despite the Quran s clear support for women s rights and equality, why do many people feel that Muslim women are oppressed? The hijab head covering worn by Muslim women has been in the news on and off for some time now and has been a topic of many debates. Here in America, one would feel this requirement on women as oppressive, but most Muslim women feel that this is a way to be looked at not for their beauty, but for their minds. The issues here is that people have a hard time differentiating between culture and religion, two things that are completely different but have a huge effect on each other. People also have a hard time understanding things that are different. Just because it is different than how we live, doesn t necessarily mean it s wrong. • 20. Human Cells And The Human Body Kidneys are one of the most essential organs in a human body which are crucial for blood filtration, toxins, and waste removal and maintaining and regulating the body s pH. The researchers created kidney structures from induced pluripotent stem cells (iPS) called organoids which have the function and structural organization of a human fetal kidneyin the first trimester. This study used the results of a previous study where human embryonic stem cells were differentiated towards a renal lineage. As a result, the progenitors for both collecting ducts and nephrons were generated from iPS. In that study, the researchers found out that although both nephrons and collecting ducts originate from the intermediate mesoderm layer, they develop at a different specific time and area from the mesoderm layer. The intermediate mesoderm layer is a germ layer arising from the mesoderm, and it is important in the development of kidneys, reproductive system, and lower urinary tract of the embryo. Thus, the scientists exploited this temporospatial origin difference, and they identified the regulating mechanism behind what caused the induction of collecting duct versus other kidney progenitors like the nephrons for instance. As a result of this finding, kidney organoids were formed which were segmented into distal and proximal tubules, loops of Henle, glomeruli, and podocytes which establish a vascularization network. There was undoubtedly a huge increase in an Arab sense of nationalism between the years 1948 and 1973. One major reason for this was the creation of the State of Israel in 1948, which gave the Arab powers something to unite against, because not a single Arab nation recognised Israelas a legitimate state. The added nutrients in the recycled water improve crop quality and development, without polluting the crops themselves. Farmers and others that use recycled water regularly also appreciate the dependability of receiving the reused water. Use of reclaimed water decreases the chance of future drought and insures farmers a more stable source of water than ever before. In contrast, there are also many problems and questions linked to the reuse of water. Economically, the initial installation to supply recycled water to an area can be expensive, and complicated. Separate pipes and specific labeling is required for all reclaimed water distribution. Another concern in using recycled water is its potential health risks. A study done by three Bay Area scientists was conducted to search for Salmonella, Cyclospora and E. Coli 0157:H7 within water after it had been disinfected in the tertiary stage of recycling. Fortunately the scientists did not find any of the three bacteria within the reclaimed water, further ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

ANOVA is used to test general rather than specific differences among means. An ANOVA conducted on a design in which there is only one factor is called a one way ANOVA. The One Way ANOVA is considered an omnibus test because it indicates whether or not there are any significant differences in the means between any of the groups. However, it does not indicate which mean are different. The One way ANOVA compares the means of the samples or groups to make inferences about the population means. The One Way ANOVA can compare the means of three or more groups. Furthermore, by running additional t tests an increase 5% error increases with every t test ran. An ANOVA, on the other hand, has a 5% error, that remains trough the duration of the test. Therefore, if one is running many controls the type I error remains at 5% and the researcher can be more confident that any statistically significant result you find is not just running lots of tests. In a one way ANOVA, the null hypothesis tested by rather the population means are equal, or that each of the group means is equal. If the null hypothesis is rejected, then it can be concluded that at least one of the population means is different from at least one other population mean. The alternative hypothesis, however, looks to see that at least two of the group means are significantly different. The assumption of independence is obtained if the observations are random and independent if they are to be representative of the populations and in no way related or dependent on another. In This Paper, I Am Going To Talk About Acute Introduction In this paper, I am going to talk about Acute Stress Disorder and how it affects the daily lives of people who have it. What exactly is Acute Stress Disorder? According to Steve Bressert, a doctor in philosophy, ASD is: Acute Stress Disorder is characterized by the development of severe anxiety, dissociative, and other symptoms that occurs within one month after exposure to an extreme traumatic stressor (e.g., witnessing a death or serious accident). As a response to the traumatic event, the individual develops dissociative symptoms. Individuals with Acute Stress Disorder have a decrease in emotional responsiveness. ASD in Adults It is known that 80% of adults in the United States have experienced trauma at least once in their lives. I simply cannot imagine an adult going through this, but it must be more difficult for children to overcome it. It is not common for older adults to develop ASD, as they have most likely learned how to cope with stressful events. Experiencing a traumatic event at a young age can most likely lead to developing ASD in adulthood. ASD in adulthood can easily develop into a more complex psychological disorder known as PTSD. A treatment that can help adults is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, which can reduce the trauma. This treatment is usually used and is more effective in children rather than adults. Another type of treatment is Eye Movement Desensitisation and reprocessing, (EMDR). EMDR is a type of therapy treatment that can help people recover from their emotional distress in life. This type of therapy has been proven to be very effective in most cases, and is still used. ASD in Children According to the website Minddisorders.com, children do in fact suffer from ASD, but not as much as adults do. For example: Very little is known about the prevalence of ASD or PTSD in children, and even less is known how effectively medications and psychotherapy treat these disorders in this age group. History of Servant Leadership The philosophy of servant leadership began with Robert K. Greenleaf in 1977. He first came about the idea of servant leadership while reading Journey to the East by Herman Hesse (Keith, 2016). This is a story of a group of travelers who were served by a man named Leo. Environmental movements in Britain have a long history with the Commons, Open Spaces and Footpath Preservation Society being founded in 1865, followed by the foundation of The Royal Society for Birds in 1889 and The National Trust in 1895 (Rootes 2003). These societies show the traditional side to British environmental movements, with Rootes writing that environmentalismin Britain was thoroughly moderate, respectable and reformist (Rootes 2003: 2). For much of the sport s history, qualifying sessions differed little from practice sessions; drivers would have one or more entire sessions in which to attempt to set their fastest time, sometimes within a limited number of attempts, with the grid order determined by each driver s best single lap, fastest (on pole position) to slowest. Grids were limited to the fastest 26 cars and drivers had to lap within 107% of the pole sitter s time to qualify for the race; the 107% rule (as it is commonly known) was re introduced for 2011. Other formats have included Friday pre qualifying, and sessions in which each driver was allowed only one qualifying lap, run separately in a predetermined order. The current qualifying system was adopted for the 2006 season. Known as knock out qualifying, it is split into three periods (or rounds). In each period, drivers run qualifying laps to attempt to advance to the next period, running as many laps as they wish, with the slowest drivers being knocked out at the end of the period and their grid positions set, based on their ... • 52. Hope In The American Red Cross As discussed in my first essay, the virtue of hope is crucial for attaining any other virtue as well as the inseparable part of human nature. However, sometimes a burden of harsh and unpredictable circumstances causes the unfortunate to doubt hope. In that case, according to Mary Wollstonecraft, others should disregard their ignorance and mistaken self interest to help the unfortunate regain the essential virtue of hope (Wollstonecraft, 211). Furthermore, as Niccolo Machiavelli emphasizes, when disregarding their self interest, the ones helping should not only appear to be hopeful, but also demonstrate hope in their actions (Machiavelli, 203). But how is the virtue of hope demonstrated to others? By looking at the work of Mary Wollstonecraft... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Firstly, the Red Cross is tempted by the immorality since groups tend to be more immoral than individuals as discussed by Martin Luther King (Dr. King, 274). To simplify, an individual who acts immorally is the only one held accountable for his immorality. On the other hand, the organization s responsibility for immoral actions is distributed among the members of the group, which means that none of the individuals is exclusively responsible for the organization s actions, so none of the members can be individually punished for immorality of the organization. Since partial responsibility involves less accountability than total responsibility, individuals are more likely to be immoral in a group than by themselves. Similarly, Henry David Thoreauexplains the same issue by stating that a corporation has no conscience (Thoreau, 256). Therefore, like any other organization, the American Red Cross has to fight against immorality of the group to manifest their purpose of helping others. But how do they fight it? Thoreau explains that even though a corporation itself has no conscience, its members do and a corporation of conscientious men is a corporation with a conscience (Thoreau, 256). And the American Red Cross makes sure that all its members are conscientious by incorporating the moral laws in the organization s fundamental ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 53. Google Human Capital Essay Human resources and human capital are different. Human resources management is the function by which the human capital is guided and directed. As previously stated, human capital is made up of the knowledge and skills that people possess. When a company hires an employee they are essentially leasing the talent that the individual owns. The company does not own the employee, their skills or abilities. Human capital emphasizes valuing people that work for the companies as assets; employees that add to the value of the organization, and when efficiently managed contributes to the overall success of the company in terms of employee productivity and contribution. The role of human resourcesin valuing human capital is mainly to figure out ways to attract and recruit the best people, find ways to make them better at what they do and bring the best out of them. Google appears to be a great organization to work for. As a company that thrives from the creativity and innovation of people, they really seem to put forth an effort towards creating an atmosphere in which the talent or human capital has an opportunity to flourish. It is quite clear that Google will not hesitate to go to great lengths to promote a fun and inclusive environment where the workers, or as they prefer to call them smart creatives , are able to feel like they matter. They have decided to stay away from the traditional aspect of corporate America and chose to implement what may be a game changer for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 54. The Pros And Cons Of Unions In The Workplace Have you ever been in a situation where you didn t feel safe in an environment due to its working conditions? I have. Many times people in jobs feel the need to stay quiet and not defend their opinions because they are afraid of possibly losing their jobs if they speak their mind. However, what many people don t know is that as a human being, we have rights and with those rights you are allowed to be a part of a union in search of better opportunities. A union is when a group of employees gather together to use their strength to have a voice in their workplace. (L.A. Union, What is a Union?) Yes, that is correct, a voice that needs to be heard is what we all want. Of course, not all unions are good, but many have done well for the employees they have represented. Unions are very important to have in a company because it allows the employees to acknowledge their rights within the workplace, and also protects them from the employers. Unions help employees have job security and better wages, as well as better benefits. There are a few disadvantages however of having a union. The disadvantages are the dues that have to be paid, and also there are fewer rewards given based on... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Due to these unfair working conditions, employees then decide into looking for a union in order to help them work comfortably. There are some basic steps into organizing a union. • 55. Happiness Is The Result Of Happiness Happiness is the result of luck, at least according to the people who invented the word way back when. The word itself is rooted in luck; Darrin M. McMahon, Ph.D., a professor of history at Dartmouth College, says that ... in every Indo European language, without exception... the word happiness is a cognate with the word luck. Or, as a monk in Chaucer s Canterbury Tales put it, ... the wheel of fortune controls our happenstance, and hence our happiness. He was not talking about the Wheel of Fortune that s on at 6:00 pm every night where people spin a giant gaudy wheel and solve word puzzles to win money. No, he meant the omniscient wheel of fortune that controls every aspect of everyone s life. While the wheel of fortune spun freely in some parts of the world, the road to happiness was included more resistance in other parts. Schools of Classical thought famous philosophers with weird names like Plato and Socrates should come to mind believed happiness was earned. Not only did they believe happiness was earned, they believed that to achieve it, you had to go the extra mile (or 10 miles) with moral behavior. But once you had moral behavior, by gosh your life could be going to hell in a handbasket and you d still be happy. Today, in modern America, happiness is something that is worked for. Complete your goals and happiness shall be yours. You may have to fall in a couple of ditches and break some bones along the way, metaphorically and literally, but happiness is ...
