Parallels between Emily Dickinson s 39 and the Biblical...
In one of my favorite poems by Emily Dickinson, 39 or [49] published in 1858, she almost parallels
the life of Job in the Bible who lost all he had, but because he was faithful all of his loss was
restored; I like that there are so many ways to interpret the loss and blame in this very short
poem; for example, her loss could be a loss of possession or a loss of a child because in the sod
could refer to either to an actual plot of land with its crops and the possessions that would come
with it or to burying deceased children; to be a beggar could mean that she is literally poor and
landless, which would mean that she had no way to provide for herself, or that she had no children
and prayed for them; when she says that angels reimbursed... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In another one of my favorite poems by Emily Dickinson 1263 or [1129], she subverts expectations
by telling her audience to tell the truth, but to skew it, essentially telling them to lie; she writes on a
lot of Christian themes so no one expects an advocacy of lying to be part of her poems; however
I don t think her purpose is to promote lying; it is more of a revelation that people love the lie, we
don t always really want truth when we ask someone s opinion; often we want our own confirmed;
here she tells us that telling the whole truth and nothing but the truth would

Essay On Aboriginal People
During my interview with Margaret West of Bourke, NSW I was able to gain first hand
knowledge and understanding of the issues (healthcare, safety and education) that were faced by
some indigenous people during the 70 s and 80 s. After the interview concluded, I had enough
information to compare the policies of her generation in contrast to the modern policies that deal
with the same issues that were discussed in the interview. During the interview I was told about the
challenges faced in the 70s, which included poor health services to indigenous. Aboriginal Medical
Services (AMS), National Aboriginal and Islander Health Organisation (NAIHO) were then formed
to tackle the poor health issues. And when it came to education, it was also a problem... Show more

For example the universal health insurance system, Medibank was introduced to allow mainstream
health services more affordable in 1975. Even though it was terminated in 1978, it was then
reintroduced as Medicare in 1984. In the early 1970s Aboriginal people were commonly
confronted with intolerance, prejudice and racism at every level of the nation s criminal justice
system. Aboriginal adults were eleven times more likely to be imprisoned than other Australians,
and youth twenty times more likely to be detained. In 1972 the Whitlam government eradicated the
white Australia policy and introduced a policy of self determination, and in 1975, the racial
discrimination Act was put in effect and it was designed to acknowledge the prior ownership of
Australia by the Indigenous people. In January 2011 Australia was reviewed by the UN Human
Rights Council and in June 2011 Australia provided its response to the 145 recommendations made
by the Human Rights Council and amend their policy towards the indigenous people. The Racial
Discrimination Act 1975 has been fully reinstated in relation to the Northern Territory Emergency
Response December 2010. Putting of indigenous women in decision making positions for more

Essay on National Cranberry

REV: MARCH 17, 2006
National Cranberry Cooperative (Abridged)
On February 14, 1981, Hugo Schaeffer, vice president of operations at the National Cranberry
Cooperative (NCC), called his assistant, Mel O Brien, into his office and said:
Mel, I spent all day yesterday reviewing last fall s process fruit operations at receiving plant #1
[RP1] with Will Walliston, the superintendent, and talking with the co op members
[growers] in that area. It s obvious to me that we haven t solved our problems at that plant, yet.
Even though we spent $100,000 last winter for a fifth Kiwanee dumper at RP1, our overtime costs
were still out of control this fall, and the growers are still upset that their trucks and drivers had to

station, fresh and processing combined. Years prior to 1949 represent season average prices

Some significant trends are observable in Table A. Probably the most important trend was the
growing surplus of cranberries produced over those utilized. This surplus was serious enough by
1978 for the growers to resort to the Agriculture Marketing Agreement Act of 1937. Under this
act, growers can regulate and control the size of an agricultural crop if the federal government and
more than two thirds of the growers agree to a plan for crop restriction. In 1978 this act was used
to create the Cranberry Marketing Order of 1978,

Water Hardness Essay
Introduction:
Water is an important substance that is needed all around the world. Freshwater is not completely
pure though. It has dissolved solutes from minerals, and gases from the atmosphere. The presence
of dissolved ions in water gives it a chemical property that is called water hardness. Water hardness
refers to a liquid that has a high concentration of minerals, but those minerals are typically Ca2+,
and Mg2+. Water that has a very low concentration of these elements is called soft . This chemical
property can be measured as concentrations in molarity, M; parts per million, ppm; and grains per
gallon1.
Once you measure the hardness of water, there s a scale you could compare it to. If the
measurement of the water is less than 17.1 ppm, the classification of that is that the water is
soft. The classification of water being 17.1 60 ppm is that it s slightly hard. If the water is 60 120
ppm the classification of that water is moderately hard. If the water is 120 180 ppm it s said to be
hard. Anything over 180 ppm is considered very hard.2
It is important to study the hardness of water because of the of the problems that can arise when left
untreated. Hard water can cause a build up in plumbing fixtures or water heaters. This happens when
calcium carbonate is deposited as calcite crystals on the inner surface of pipes, and evaporator
surfaces. The build up can cause a blockage in pipes, and eventually corrode the metal of the pipes.3
Water hardness can be determined

Postmodernism As A Fairy Tale
Postmodernist thought has bought with it an interrogation of narrative strategies and ways of
looking at myths, history and even fairytales. Postmodernism, as Hutcheon suggests works through
parody to both legitimize and subvert that which it parodies.1 Postmodernism does not just offer to
shed light on new critical capacities but also to rethink history and to signal present representations
from past ones. Postmodern fairytale narratives thus offer, if not a counter mandate, often a reading
into the classic fairytale. These revisits offer a space, especially for women to question and redefine
gender roles. The rewritings offer images of woman, an underpinning of the Other, normalised as
part of culture. Since they rhetorically and literally incorporate that which they aim to contest 2
modernism, history, the humanistic subject, other narrative texts and genre they often sublate as
complicated metaphors of human situation. Postmodern fairytales seek to understand the fairytale ,
not as children s literature but within the broader context of folklore and literary studies. Cristina
Bacchilega in her seminal work Postmodern Fairy Tales that focuses on the narrative strategies
through which women are portrayed in four classic stories: Snow... Show more content on

The Approach Of The Software Artifact Summarization Paradigm
Our approach consists of following steps. First, we collected a corpus of code fragments,
containing 127 code fragments, extracted directly from the Eclipse and NetBeans Official
FAQs. Second, we hired human annotators to suggest summary lines i.e., Gold Summary Lines
(annotation). Third, we introduced crowdsourcing (data driven) as a problem solving model in
software artifact summarization paradigm, as it had not been employed before for software
artifact summarization, for extracting code features. Fourth, we trained two classifiers namely
Support Vector Machines (SVM) and Naive Bayes (NB) on code fragments. Next, we evaluated
the effectiveness of these classifiers on different statistical measures such as Accuracy,
Precision, Recall, F Score, True Positive Rate (TPR), False Positive Rate (FPR), Receiver
Operator Characteristic (ROC), and Area under curve (AUC). In the end, we performed feature
selection analysis to rank and determine the importance of selected features. In the sections
below, we discuss these steps one by one. 5.2.1 Corpus Creation We need a corpus of code
fragments to train and judge the effectiveness of our classifiers. Optimally, such a corpus would
have been made available before or created by experts in the field of code fragment summarization.
Previously, Ying et al. [94] have collected a corpus of code fragments containing 70 code fragments
from Eclipse Official FAQ. Since last year, additional 8 code fragments have been added to Eclipse

How Did Julius Caesar Fall
Gaius Julius Caesar, was born in 100 BC, he was the son of a upper class family. His father s
sister was the wife of General Marius. Caesar married his daughter Cinna, in 76. They had a
daughter named Julia. Then, 8 years later she died. He supported the successful Commander s
Pompey and Crassus. He gained the biggest success of his career by being elected chief priest in
63. Three years later, he made the first informal threesome. Between 58 and 51 he conquered
central and northern Gaul as far as the Rhine. When he got to the Rhine river, he built a bridge in
ten days, which he used to cross the river. In 55 and 54 he conducted two investigations of Britain.
When this was happening, the threesome began to fall because of resentfulness. When Julia died.
The two began to hate each other. They were also mad because Crassus disappeared. He was killed

he fled to Egypt and was killed by the government of the young king, Ptolemy XIII. Caesar

Hunger World Hunger
World hunger has become an increasing problem within society. Globally, one in nine people in
the world today (795 million) are undernourished. (United Nations) Many individuals, especially
those in developing countries are restricted from being able access food. This could be due to
various reasons such as: poverty, distribution, inequality etc. As a result of unjust starvation, it is
estimated that 3.1 million children die annually from hunger. In 2011 poor nutrition caused forty
five percent of children under the age of five to die. (World hunger facts) Hunger is described in
the dictionary as a feeling of discomfort or weakness caused by a lack of food. Hunger and
starvation has the potential to be diminished according to OXFAM Canada which reports that there
is enough food to feed the world population. Due to the suffering and death of many hunger
victims, a plea to find a cure to world hunger is strong. Focusing on the solutions to the global food
crisis is critical for the survival of human beings.
Returning to agriculture s roots has potential to support the alleviation of unnecessary starvation
within the world. Modern practices of farming are often quite different than they were one
hundred years ago. Modernly, many farmers use fertilizers and pesticides on their crops as
protection from harmful insects and plant diseases. However, fueling one s body with vegetation
that is covered in toxic chemicals is harmful? Joseph Mercola, a physician who specializes in

Native Americans Civil Rights Struggle Essay
The Native Americans have come across long journey of difficult times since the occupation of
their land by European settlers. There are still two sides of a coin a world of civilization and a
world of underdeveloped society in this one country USA. The paradox is that the constitution
which seems to be a model of democracy to many nations of the world lacks a lot for not acting
accordingly. Those organized and unorganized struggles of Native Americans were challenged by
the heavily armed white majority settlers. This history is among the worst American experience

The Alcatraz occupation lasted for nineteen months.
The Alcatraz opposition was followed by another major event in the struggle of native America s
civil right at Wounded Knee south Dakota. In 1972, they requested the government for land
ownerships, rights for their water and mineral recourses in their land, and for equality according
to the constitution. This was followed by the huge damage of the Bureau of Indian Affairs BIA.
In 1973, the government came with denying the requests and then the leaders of American
Indian movement AIM, promised to keep struggling (Kent 1769). The leaders of the AIM were
Russel Means and Denis Banks. There were also some internal differences among the Indian
American tribes. For instance Oglala Sioux Tribe leaders were criticizing the oppositions. As a
result, The AIM leaders were also critical to those tribes and to the tribal president Richard
Wilson. They blamed Wilson for his mismanagement of his tribe s fund. Wilson had responded
with serious attack on his opponents and their families. Hence, the government supported Wilson

60 heavily armed marshals (Kent). As a result, on February 23, 250 people of Oglala tribe and
AIM members agreed and broke on arm store to fight Wilson at Wounded Knee.

These were the main drawbacks I ve discovered using GIMP.

Gimp does not support all image formats unless plug ins for them are installed.
The user manual is still under development.

1 Basic editing is almost the exact same: Photoshop and GIMP, both have basic set of tools for
image editing. Quality image editing can be done in both of the software s.
2 Advanced Features: Photoshop is loaded with more advanced features as compared to GIMP.

traffic lights. It also can sense when there is a cyclist or pedestrian at a crosswalk. A pleasant

making robotic vehicles would essentially make highways safer and lower the nation s energy

money, but could reduce possible accidents. But the advent of autonomous vehicles poses thorny
legal issues. Under current law, a human must be in control of a car at all

Types of Death Penalty
The death penalty for heinous crime is as justifiable, if society deem it necessary for its well
being, as is the demand upon the citizen warrior to meet death upon the battle field, or upon the
doctor to remain steadfast at his duty in the plague stricken city. The good of society is the prime
reason for the punishment of criminals and their reformation is justifiable only when it conduces to
this end (Hall, 1902, p. 390).
In recent years, death penalty has become a much talked about and controversial issue regardless
of nation, culture or race. One of the earliest and known death penalty sentenced would be the
crucifixion of Jesus Christ. This proves that death penalty has existed since a long time ago.

This form of hanging is not to break the neck of the prisoners; rather letting them die of
strangulation. Last of all, the most humane form would be the long drop hanging. The prisoners
would be allowed to fall a pre determined height, then jerked upwards. The prisoners neck break
easily and immediately as the heads are still attached to the noose; thus, lessening the pain and
suffering of the prisoners.
Death Penalty Information Center (n.d.) has concluded the process of general hanging. The
process is started when the prisoner is weighed a day before the execution and the prison officers
rehearse using a bag of sand weighing the same as the prisoner. By rehearsing, the prison officers
could determine the length of the rope so as not to prolong the torture and suffering of the
prisoner. Before the rope can be used, it has to be treated. Firstly, the 3/4inch to 1 Вј inch rope is
boiled and stretched to eliminate spring or coiling. The knot should be lubricated with wax or
soap ( Hanged by the Neck , n.d.) to ensure a smooth sliding action (US Army Manual, 1969).
Now, the prisoner is blindfolded, hands and legs bounded, and noose is placed on his neck. Then,
the trapdoor underneath the prisoner is opened, allowing the prisoner to fall through. Should
everything is properly in place, a rapid fracture dislocation of the neck will occur. However,
Weisberg (1991) says instantaneous death rarely occurs .

People always believed in happy endings; Cinderella getting her prince, Sleeping Beauty waking

purpose you need to know the original stories; the difference, the similarities and the influence they
had on people.
To begin with, the older and the modern versions of fairy tales differ greatly. For example, Sleeping

First, Rapunzel was used as an impact on woman and young girls of the Christian community. The
story was about a girl getting pregnant and being left alone by a prince who wanted nothing to do
with her. This fairy tale was used as a cautionary tale of the dangers of seduction to the ladies,
young and old, of the communities. Second, Mulan, the new version, was used as a way to bring
feminism on a big rise. She was not looking for a way to get a prince, but she was trying to keep
her dad from fighting in a war even though he was injured. Mulan was unlike any princess
anyone had ever seen and it amazed woman and young girls everywhere to take control and
become equal to men. (Weebly) Lastly, the new version of Cinderella was actually used as an
anti feminism story. Released in 1950, the movie came shortly after World War II, a time when
many women took jobs outside the home because the men were away. Moser thinks some of the

South Dakota State Penitentiary At The University Of Sioux...
March 29, 1998 was just another typical day for headline news in Sioux Falls. The Argus Leader
was filled with your everyday politics, sports, entertainment, weather, and life news. Eight inmates
serving life sentence in the South Dakota State Penitentiary met to discuss better living conditions
for all prisoners (Steen). On a more positive note, the annual Sioux Empire water festival was held
at the University of Sioux Falls. Around 2,200 fourth graders, from surrounding communities,
gather to learn more about the abundance of their natural resources, and how to preserve them.
Thirty booths were set up at the site displaying how to make snow, how to snorkel, and how to
make bubbles the size of humans (Olson). As far as youth sports, nothing was more popular than
the tri state basketball tournament held every year in Sioux Falls. The event attracted over 2,900
athletes as well 289 teams ( Tri State Crowns 30 Champions 5C ). While these events happened in
our area more headline news caught the eye of South Dakotacitizens. Senator Tom Daschle
proposed a bill that had the potential to lead to the development of more wetlands in South
Dakota. The bill offered tax credits to farmers who preserved wetlands not enrolled in the
Conservation reserve program or wetland reserve program (Olson). With the Winter of 1997 1998
being so short schools, banks, city crews, and churches were able to catch up on their budgets.

What Are The Moments That Influence The Development Of...
History involves several moments in time that contributed to the world s rapid transition and
transformation into the leading global culture. Europe s development of present day Europe
resulted from the relationships between various moments, movements, cultures, and people that
proved highly significant to the big picture of European history. Each and every period in time had
its own importance and function that tied into the larger system of the global community. Five key
moments that influenced the development of present day Europe include the rise of religion,
Protestant Reformation, Age of Enlightenment, nationalism, and World War II. Early civilizations

Persuasive Articles on Gun Control Essays
Persuasive Articles on Gun Control
Persuading an audience can be done in several different fashions, one of which is Hugh Rank s
Model of Persuasion. Rank s model states that two major strategies are used to achieve the
particular goal of persuasion. These strategies are nicely set into two main schemas; the first
method is to exaggerate an aspect of something, known as intensify. While the second is to
discredit it, which is referred to as downplay. Al Franken, JeffreySnyder, Harlan Ellison, and
George Will, have all written persuasive articles about gun control. In reading all of the various
articles on gun control by authors, I found George F. Will s The Last Word to be the most
persuasive. Will wrote his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Franken was also able to downplay the usefulness of a firearm by including a series of sarcastic
tips for tragedy in a home. For example, 1. Keep the gun loaded... 2. Put the gun in an unlocked
drawer... 3. Rest assured. 1 Where Franken s article comes up short is the use of hypothetical
numbers to exaggerate and intensify the deadliness of guns. His sarcasm adds diversity to his
piece, but should be used sparingly. Franken s conclusion causes his argument to lose its
effectiveness, after building his case it just seems ridiculous and out of place.
The least persuasive essay out of the four was Harlan Ellison s An Edge in My Voice. Ellison
presents his argument in a style that seems to me is more of a disgruntled rambling about both
famous and infamous people that die from gun shot, than an article about gun control. Ellison
spends the first few pages asking the reader if they cried when a certain person died; he begins
with famous people such as Martin Luther King, Bobby Kennedy, and John Lennon, and then
moves on to more obscure examples. Instead of trying to build an argument, Ellison seemed to be
more caught up with anger and the notion of conspiracies. He does however try to use the intensify
technique of Rank s model, to persuade the reader of the horror of deaths caused by guns and their
importance. Although Ellison did try to persuade his audience in a different manor, I felt it was
ineffective at best,

Relationship Between Sex And Power
Introduction
Michel Foucault was a French philosopher, historian, social theorist, philologist and literary critic
whose work had a tremendous impact on several disciplines. He was not a sociologist by training,
but he worked diligently on sociological issues and otherwise had significant influence on the work
of other sociologists. One of his most famous works is the The History of Sexuality, in which he
examines the emergence of sexuality as a discursive object and separate sphere of life. According to
Foucault, the idea that everyone has a sexuality is relatively a recent development in the West. In
Volume 1, Foucault discusses the relationship between sex and power in a historical context. He
states that the ways in which humans think about sexuality is primarily shaped by the repressive
hypothesis, which claims that Western society had suppressed sexuality from the 17th to the mid
20th century, and this was due to the rise of capitalism and the bourgeois society. There are several
key concepts in this book that will be discussed in this paper include repressive hypothesis,
sexuality, power, and discourse. This paper will seek to show the ways in which sexuality is a
discursive object, and how sexuality was linked to power throughout history.
Foucault describes the repressive hypothesis as one that supposes that any increase of energy on
purely pleasurable activities, such as sex, has been frowned upon since the rise of the bourgeoisie.
Due to this, sex

The Pros And Cons Of The Disarmament Treaty
With recent tensions rising between North Korea and the world, it is no surprise that the Japanese
citizens are realighting themselves towards a nationalist government. Japanese Prime Minister Abe
has started to consider revoking the disarmament treaty. Revoking it would let Japan increase
spending in the military which would ultimately result in a much larger and advanced military.
Although rearming the Japanese military would instil security in the country, it would only
increase the tension, affecting negatively to both myself and future generations of Japanese citizens
through series of unjustifiable call of duties. A disarmament treaty was put into action by the United
States after the surrender of Japan during world war two. Under the treaty, Japan cannot build a

attack. The only reason the United States is backing Japan in this conflict is because of the

powerful and closest allie. With a nationalist president in the US, The people in the US would

ones who is most damaged. The Japanese population could possibly be put into incarceration

IVAN THE TERRIBLE Book: Ivan The Terrible by Chelsea House The reign of Grand Duke
Vasili III in medieval Russia was the beginning of a complete turn around for Moscow. Moscow
got better and better until it became the most powerful city of medieval Russia, and Russia as a
whole was under the overall rule of Moscow. Soon, when Vasili III died, he left the big role of
ruling all of Russiaand Moscow to his older son, Ivan or Ivan The Terrible . Until Ivan could rule,
Yelena, his mother, ruled instead, until her death due to an attempted overthrow of noble families.
Still, Ivan was too young to rule, so the boyars of Russia took his place instead. Two families

Abstract
The purpose of this project was to develop a training program for Wellbridge Clubs that focused on
teaching sales staff to sell personal training (PT) packages to members, in order to increase
Wellbridge sales. The training agenda was designed based on Silberman s (2006) Active Training,
in order to engage the participants in their learning process. The use of immediate learning exercises
is intended to draw the participants into the process of guided note taking during the brain friendly
lectures. Through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To ensure that the training is truly taught for its intended purpose requires conducting training
needs analysis. BusinessDictionary.com defines a training needs analysis as an assessment of the
training requirements of a target group in terms of (1) number of trainees, (2) their educational and
professional background, (3) their present level of competence, and (4) the desired behavior or skill
level acquired at the completion of training (Training needs analysis, 2014).
Wellbridge Analysis Given that our training had to be developed within eight weeks, our team
referred to Silberman s (2006) Advantages and Disadvantages of Nine Basic Needs Assessment
Techniques in order to quickly gather information (pp. 32 34). Due to our time and cost restraints,
we had to exclude several of the nine basic needs such as observation, questionnaires, and group
discussion (Silberman, 2006). We conducted interviews and key consultations via teleconferences
with the Wellbridge corporate office staff located in Denver, which included Steve Datte, Kelly
Bartlett, and Amy Thompson. Additionally, we gathered data during lectures with Jerry Rose, our
instructor, from October 21 through December 9, 2014, at Webster University. Mr. Rose is also a
personal trainer for Wellbridge

Comparison Summary
DBMS Server Comparison Supplement
An Analysis Of The Strengths And Weaknesses Of The Big Six Database Servers. In 1991 I
performed a thorough evaluation and comparison of the four major DBMSs at the time: Informix,
Ingres, Oracle, and Sybase. This comparison was done for a client building a huge distributed
database application, currently in its second phase of d evelopment, with the first phase running
successfully country wide. At that stage, the distinguishing criteria were query optimizers, triggers,
views, and support for distributed databases. Some products had these features, but some others
marketing per sonnel were just talking about them. For example, declarative integrity was a future

To explain further, I review a few of the features in this comparison supplement.
Relational Data Model
Although the DBMS products reviewed here can rightfully claim to be relational, their support of
the relational data model must be scrutinized closely. Obviously they all support the basic
relational concepts, such as data stored in tables and accessed b y high level set operations, mostly
through SQL. However, not one of the Big Six supports domains. It is crucial that these products
address this fundamental concept of the relational data model. You must be able to define your
domains and then specify y our table columns, and preferably also your stored procedure variables
and parameters, in terms of the domains. This process is necessary to ensure tight type checking,
as you can do in some programming languages. If a small (in terms of market share) product such
as Interbase could implement domains five years ago, surely the Big Six should be able to get it
right today.
All of the Big Six can rightfully claim that they support declarative integrity constraints. Except for
domain constraints, they all support declarative key, column, and referential integrity constraints.
But you must investigate these claims closely as well. Only Informix and Oracle support cascading
delete as a referential integrity constraint violation option, and only DB2 supports the

1. Cow Milk The best and the most sought after of all types of milk is the cow milk. It is
considered as a wholesome supplement of protein, bone building calcium and vitamin D that
promote good health. 2. Almond Milk Wish to consume a non dairy milk on a regular basis,
then almond milk can be your pick. Low in calories, low in fat and with a creamy consistency,
this milk could be a replacement for your cow s milk. 3. Hemp Milk It is a non dairy milk that is
rich in protein content. It is not thick in nature and helps reduce blood pressure and cholesterol.
4. Goat Milk If you are looking for same supplements as cow s milk, then opt for goat s milk.

Drinking a glass of milk for breakfast daily helps in muscle building and reduces body ache
caused by intense exercises by retaining fluids and electrolytes. 1. Bone Health Milk strengthens
the bones of the body as it contains a high amount of calcium in it. Also present in abundance is
Vitamin D that supplements strength to the bones and make them stronger. The bone matter and
bone mineral density are dependent on the calcium content of the body. Hence do not make
excuses to avail the benefits of drinking milk. 2. Healthy Teeth Structure The milk on
consumption protects the enamel surface of the teeth from acidic properties. It will eliminate the
harmful effects of carbonated water on the teeth and keep them healthy and glowing. 3. Eye
Health Milk is a good source of vitamin A and B, so it s beneficial for your eyes as well. It boosts
the immune system and makes the eyesight normal. 4. Heart Health Since milk also contains
potassium, that reduces blood pressure and enhances vasodilation, it can make for an appropriate
choice for good heart. Milk helps in normalizing the cholesterol production and works as an anti
acid fluid. Milk contains potassium and phosphorus in abundance which makes it the perfect drink
for regulating the blood

Exhoration Vs. 16-18 Analysis
Introduction Holy living is one of the more difficult aspects of the Christian life, and in chapter
five in his epistle to the church in Galatia, Paul exhorts this living. This exhortation is especially
seen in verses 16 18, when Paul contrasts a life in walking in the Spirit as opposed to the flesh.
The difficulty for a Christian, Paul points out, is that there will always be a struggle between the
desires of the flesh and fruits of the spirit. He sets up this exhortation in v.16 18 with a statement
in v.13, he says For you were called to freedom....do not use your freedom for an opportunity for
the flesh, but through love. This is message that would have contrasted a false teaching of works of
the flesh at that time in Galatia, and this message would have been a correction of that teaching.

This was an attempt to keep new Christians living under the law. Martin Luther in his
commentary on Galatians rightly states that Paul gets to the heart of the matter, and establishes
that love is the rule for believers. In the present day, there is no pressure to keep a law of
circumcision or any traditional law necessarily. The time in which this letter took place, the gospel
had been introduced into Galatia and was newly accepted. This was a time in which strong
doctrine had not been established or taught, and it would have been easy for these new Christians
to be influenced by false

Summary Of Every Trip Is A Quest
1 3. The main idea of Chapter 1 Every Trip Is a Quest (Except When It s Not) (pp.1 6) can be
concluded in the following sentence: every story is a quest that consists of a person that has a
reason to go to a certain place with challenges on one s way which then leads the particular
person (usually the main hero of a story) to the actual, or real, reason associated with self
knowledge, because the quest is always educational. 4. The next key words were identified in
the chapter and serve as an informal outline of the chapter. At the beginning of the chapter,
Foster gives a brief example of a quest: a knight (Kip), a dragon road (German shepherds), Holy
Grail (wonder bread), one dragon ( 68 Cuda), evil knight (Tony) and a princess (the laughing
girl). In other words, each story has a quester, a place to go to, along with stated reason to go
there and unknown challenges and trials en route; however, at the end there is a real reason for the
whole trip self discovery (Foster 3). The stated reason is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are many similarities between Gottschall and Foster s ideas. At first, Foster talks about
The Crying of Lot 49 which he refers to as to one of the best examples of all quest tales; in The
Crying of Lot 49 the heroine meets scary and dangerous people, and involves herself into postal
conspiracies. This is why Foster calls it one of the greatest quest books it is entertaining,
mystifying and has a defined quest. Moreover, that is what Gottschall talks about in the first
chapter that humans are by nature story telling beings, and this is why we want to read, and
write stories in the most entertaining way (20). The second example can be compared to ideas
in Gottscchall s book in chapter 3. According to Gottscchall, if there is no knotty problem, there
is no story (49). That is exactly what Foster is claiming: every story has a quest which includes a
challenge and a task, a trip and a goal; whereas, Gottscchall refers to it as to a

problems for animals, as it also does for humans. For this reason, communities should start
recycling plastic bags as much as possible and keep them out of harm s way. It is possible to

If the government banned plastic bags for good, then the result would be an increase in paper bags.
This would result in even more environmental disadvantages. Both bags consume about the same
amount of energy, but in different ways. Paper bags cause a greater amount of water pollutionand
they also cause trees to be removed. Trees are essential because they need to be present to absorb
carbon dioxide in the air. Paper bags also emit much more air pollution throughout their
production. Plastic bags are made from petroleum which in the end becomes more dangerous for
wildlife consumption, because of the element being worse for animals rather than paper. This is
the only main issue for plastic bags, which can be prevented. According to Lilianfield, paper
emits 80 percent more greenhouse gases, it uses three times the amount of water it takes to make
plastic bags, and paper bags generate 80 percent more solid waste (Source F). Just because
disadvantages come with a product or service, does not mean that the public should quickly change
to a different one, without analyzing how much worse a product is. Paper bags are just as bad for

Theory Of The Permafrost Theory
Permafrost theory
The third medium explored as a heat sink for the heat exchanger is permafrost. Permafrost is soil
that is frozen year round. The top layer of permafrost experiences an active change in temperature
over the year. However, the permafrost retains a constant annual temperature a couple meters below
the surface. The constant below freezing temperature of the permafrost makes it a potential heat
sink for the heat exchanger.
The permafrost is treated as a solid for our exploratory analysis of it as the heat sink. Therefore, for
the purposes of our models, conduction is the primary mode of heat transfer out of the heat
exchanger system when permafrost is used as the surrounding medium. Fourier s Law is used as the
fundamental equation used in all of the heat exchanger analysis.
Fourier s Law: q = k∇T
Where:
q = Heat flux k = Thermal conductivity
∇T = Temperature gradient
A basic model of the heat exchanger is a pipe carrying the CO2 through permafrost. The inlet
temperature, outlet temperature, and heat rate out are all known variables. The dimensions of a
simple tubular heat exchanger are found using the general heat exchanger equation.
General Heat Exchanger Equation: q=UA∆T
Where:
Q = Heat rate
U = Overall heat transfer coefficient
A = Outer surface area
О”T = Change in temperature
The pipe experiences heat transfer by means of internal convection from the CO2, conduction
through the pipes material, and conduction from the permafrost. The overall heat

The Danger in Susan Glaspell s Trifles Essay
The Danger in Susan Glaspell s Trifles
Susan Glaspell s Trifles is a play about a real life murder case that uses symbolism to help bring it
to a close. It is easy to see that Mr. and Mrs. Wright live in a society that is cut off from the outside
world and also strongly separated by gender. Three of the key symbols in Glaspell s play are a
simple bird cage, a quilt, and isolationism. Anna Uong of Virginia Tech and Karen Shelton of
JSRCC share these same ideas on symbolism. These three symbols are the main clues that help the
reader decide who killed Mr. Wright.

It is said to be ?All over the place as if she didn?t know what she was about,? states Mrs.
Hale?(840). This is another clue into how enraged and flustered Minnie was.
Minnie?s last straw was when John killed her bird. When the bird died, so did
Minnie?s personality. After that murder, Minnie was enraged, confused, and didn?t know what to
do. Mrs. Hale wondered ?if she was goin? to quilt it or knot it?(840).
By quilting the blanket, she would have chosen to endure the pain that John was putting her
through, but by knotting the quilt she chose to eliminate it. Just as a knot represents a finishing
or a completion of a project, it also was an end to John. The weaving of the quilt also symbolises
the building up of the marriage and then the end of it. ?The quilt started out as a beautiful piece of
art and was brought to a close by a couple of sloppy stitches and knots?(Uong). Just like the
Wright?s marriage, the quilt was beautiful until the end where everything was simply a mess.
Isolationism also plays a very important role in the story. The Wright?s farmhouse is located in a
hallow, in the woods. This sets her in a secluded place away from most civilisation. The Wright?s
didn?t even have a phone in their house to be able to call anyone. Mr. Hale came to talk to Mr.
Wright about a phone a few times but, ?he put me off, saying folks talked too much

Polymer Weight Averages And Molecular Distribution
Part:C A 1: Polymer weight averages and molecular distribution: There are two types of
molecular averages from which we can , the number average and weight average, which can we
calculate by knowing the number of molecules and that weight fractions in the polymer. If we
are given numbers of molecules with their molecular weights. Then we can calculate number
average molecular weight (Mn) and weight average molecular weight (Mw). From that, we can
get polydispersity index and know it is monodispersed or not. Suppose, we are given number of
molecules (Ni) and molecular weight of those molecules (Mi), Number average molecular
weight Weight average molecular weight Polydispersity index (PDI) = If PDI = 1 then mixture
is homogeneous And if PDI 1 then mixture is heterogeneous We can draw molecular weight
distribution by taking the molecular weight (M) on the X axis and Number of molecules (N) on
Y axis or vice versa. Figure (1) is the molecular weight distribution. Cross linking in polymer:
When two or more molecular chains chemically react with each other and make covalent bonds

The Issue of Overfishing
In contemporary society, human society is progressing rapidly on various fronts. Nevertheless at
the same time, the problem of overfishing is becoming increasingly worrisome and attract extensive
attention of the society. In this essay, I will address overfishing and propose some possible causes
of this phenomenon which can give contribution to some solutions. Introduction
This issue of overfishing covers vast fields, such as science, humanity, economy, society and nature.
The term optimum , in regard to the yield from a fishery, is difficult to be defined, precisely and
fixedly. Generally speaking, we can describe it as follows: (Niles E. Stople, January 2009, FishNet
USA)
Will provide maximum effectiveness benefit to the Nation, particularly in relation to food
production and recreational opportunities, and giving consideration to the protection of marine
ecosystems
In case of an overfished fishery, provides for reconstructing to a level consistent with producing the
maximum sustainable yield in such fishery
Overfishing s status as the focus of public concern mainly results from its negligible but harmful
influence on individuals, collective, and even the whole world. One of the world s significant
fishery in the East China Sea is damage by overfishing and growing levels of contamination, recent
research has shown, confirming the fear of fishermen and environmentalists. (Xinhua on GOV, Lu

healthy range of races or ethnicities throughout TV shows. In 2017, we live in an America with
over millions of people of different backgrounds, but that does not seem to reflect how it is
represented on televisionshows. The portrayal of diversity on our television screens isn t shown as
much as it is seen throughout America, thus creating stereotypes of multiple minorities and
unflattering perceptions from less educated viewers. Reality TV is a hot contender regarding
the number of minority groups seen. Stereotypes are already made based on what others believe,
however television shows create an even deeper stereotype of minority groups. Reality TV
shows like The Jersey Shore... rely on stereotypes of minority groups for entertainment. Careful

Hence formal communication is straightforward, official and always precise and has a stringent and
rigid tone to it.
Informal Communication
Informal communication includes instances of free unrestrained communication between people
who share a casual rapport with each other. Informal communication requires two people to have a
similar wavelength and hence occurs between friends and family. Informal communication does
not have any rigid rules and guidelines. Informal conversations need not necessarily have
boundaries of time, place or even subjects for that matter since we all know that friendly chats with
our loved ones can simply go on and on.
Q.2 what are the general principles of writing especially business writing?
Answer:
Business writing is different Writing for a business audience is usually quite different than writing
in the humanities, social sciences, or other academic disciplines. Business writing strives to be
crisp and succinct rather than evocative or creative; it stresses specificity and accuracy. This
distinction does not make business writing superior or inferior to other styles. Rather, it reflects the
unique purpose and considerations involved when writing in a business context. When you write a
business document, you must assume that your audience has limited time in which to read it and
is likely to skim. Your readers have an interest in what you say insofar as it affects their working
world. They want to know the

Smoke Signals Elements Of Symbols
Clayton J. Walp Mr. Morill American Lit. and Comp. 25 September 2017 Smoke Signals:
Elements of Representation Natural elements will often be viewed as symbols to represent a
cycle of life changing experiences that will ultimately change the character forever on a deeper,
spiritual level than what scratches the surface. Going through life, major events that change that
person s sense of direction and demeanor, for better or for worse, can be visualized as an element.
Anger, sadness, loss of hope can all be expressed as a natural element, all in a cycle of the

This time may help the character realize either the wrong in their ways or someone who they ve
had conflict with. This may help them learn the true meaning of forgiveness, and letting go of
the past, and moving forward. (... Do we forgive our fathers in our age, or in theirs? Or in their
deaths, saying it to them or not saying it. If we forgive our fathers, what is left? ). Victor begins
to realize that despite the ups and downs that he and his father had in the past, that his father
really did love him. He learns that when his father left, he always intended to return. He didn t
mean to die when he was away. He wanted to see Victor again. This is when Victor really begins
to learn forgiveness and to let go of the past. Water symbolizes the return, or the rebirth of the
character. This represents the cycle of life making its full circle back to where it started, bringing
this journey of thoughts and confusion to an end. Mentally, this is ending the journey, and
reaching the final destination. As an element, water rushes through what was once a burning,
roaring fire that tore through the forest of Victor s life and thoughts, and allows for new growth.
This forest is starting all over again more beautiful and amazing than ever before. Fire burns away

Ufo s Being Extra-Terrestrial Or Of Natural Phenomenon
Applying the TEST formula The TEST formula will be applied to assess the theories of UFO s
being extra terrestrial or of natural phenomena such as reflection of sunlight, mirages, the northern
lights, and any other unknown natural occurrences.
Step One: Checking for consistency The theory that unidentified flying objects (UFO s) are extra
terrestrial is consistent with the belief that flying saucers are aliens to planet Earth. UFO s sightings
from around the world are consistent because nothing else on earth resembles a flying saucer or an
aircraft with no wings.
Step Two: Assessing the evidence UFO sightings have been reported by numerous individuals, as of
June 24, 1947, and have been continuously documented since then. The doubt and distress of the

Common Core Standards Literature Review
Literature Review What is the common core? The Common Core State Standards (CCSS) defines
the knowledge and skills in English language arts and mathematics that students need for success
in college and careers upon high school graduation (Santos, Darling Hammond, Cheuk (2012)).
The common core was created, to provide clear academic benchmarks with more concise academic
standards for essential learning that will prepare students to be college and career ready (Liebtag,
E. (2013)). The common core standards have then, been introduced and applied to most schools in
the U.S, and although it may have its controversies, the major issue, is its effect on ELL (English

According to Duguay, A., Massoud, L., Tabaku, L., Himmel, J., Sugarman, J. (2013, September),
As educators have examined the standards more deeply, concerns have arisen about their
implementation in classrooms with diverse groups of students, including English learners . Not
only this, but the concept of math also has its visible adversities. According to Robertson, K.
(2009), Although it is easy to assume that many English language learners (ELLs) will excel in
math because math is a universal language and students may have had prior educational experience
that included mathematical instruction, that assumption can lead educators astray . Many teachers
are struggling with the, increasingly rigorous grade level content instruction; by content area
teachers, many of whom are newly incorporating language development techniques in their subject
area classes (Duguay, A., Massoud, L., Tabaku, L., Himmel, J., Sugarman, J. (2013, September)).
The common core may be the stepping for detailed curriculum, but it is seeming that, it cannot be
tailored to all of the diverse populations of our nation (Liebtag, E. (2013)). The expectations of the
common core exacerbate the academics for ELL students. According to, HAKUTA, K., SANTOS,

International banks would decrease in size due to the lowered flow of U.S. dollars and reduce
the chances for poor investments. The other two scenarios result in a continued global crisis, as
countries such as China may remain focused on exports and foreign investors holding the U.S.
dollar may lose confidence in the American financial system causing a rise in the cost of capital.
These situations are likely based on the Triffin dilemma, or the loss of confidence in the American
dollar. According to Ahamed, The risk of such a situation is clearly on the minds of Chinese policy
makers. Zhou Xiaochuan, the Governor of the People s Bank of China, explicitly referred to Triffin

Direct Foreign Investments
Deardorff (2001) stated that, direct foreign investments refer to the particular countries and kinds
of countries toward which a country s exports are sent, and from which its imports are brought, in
contrast to the commodity composition of its exports and imports. Besides, direct foreign
investments also can be defined as the situation in which a foreign investor owns10% or more of

Usefulness and limitations of financial ratios in evaluating the performance and management of
companies
Ratio analysis is used to describe the important relationship that lies between figures based on line
items in financial statements like the balance sheet, profit and loss account, and a budgetary control
organization. Ratio analysis is a technique of analysis and interpretation of financial statements. It
helps in evaluating the financial position and performance of the firm, ratio analysis also allows
firms to compare their operational or financial performance to another firm or the industry standard.
This essay will firstly discuss the purpose of financial ratios, its users and how it is applied. It will
then move on to discuss the signification and limitations of ratio analysis. Furthermore, a
discussion about the usefulness of specific ratios will be held using the 2013 annual report of easy

presented.
With the help of financial statements that arise by the firm, analytical methods can be used to get

  • 2. Parallels between Emily Dickinson s 39 and the Biblical... In one of my favorite poems by Emily Dickinson, 39 or [49] published in 1858, she almost parallels the life of Job in the Bible who lost all he had, but because he was faithful all of his loss was restored; I like that there are so many ways to interpret the loss and blame in this very short poem; for example, her loss could be a loss of possession or a loss of a child because in the sod could refer to either to an actual plot of land with its crops and the possessions that would come with it or to burying deceased children; to be a beggar could mean that she is literally poor and landless, which would mean that she had no way to provide for herself, or that she had no children and prayed for them; when she says that angels reimbursed... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In another one of my favorite poems by Emily Dickinson 1263 or [1129], she subverts expectations by telling her audience to tell the truth, but to skew it, essentially telling them to lie; she writes on a lot of Christian themes so no one expects an advocacy of lying to be part of her poems; however I don t think her purpose is to promote lying; it is more of a revelation that people love the lie, we don t always really want truth when we ask someone s opinion; often we want our own confirmed; here she tells us that telling the whole truth and nothing but the truth would ... • 3. Essay On Aboriginal People During my interview with Margaret West of Bourke, NSW I was able to gain first hand knowledge and understanding of the issues (healthcare, safety and education) that were faced by some indigenous people during the 70 s and 80 s. After the interview concluded, I had enough information to compare the policies of her generation in contrast to the modern policies that deal with the same issues that were discussed in the interview. During the interview I was told about the challenges faced in the 70s, which included poor health services to indigenous. Aboriginal Medical Services (AMS), National Aboriginal and Islander Health Organisation (NAIHO) were then formed to tackle the poor health issues. And when it came to education, it was also a problem... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example the universal health insurance system, Medibank was introduced to allow mainstream health services more affordable in 1975. Even though it was terminated in 1978, it was then reintroduced as Medicare in 1984. In the early 1970s Aboriginal people were commonly confronted with intolerance, prejudice and racism at every level of the nation s criminal justice system. Aboriginal adults were eleven times more likely to be imprisoned than other Australians, and youth twenty times more likely to be detained. In 1972 the Whitlam government eradicated the white Australia policy and introduced a policy of self determination, and in 1975, the racial discrimination Act was put in effect and it was designed to acknowledge the prior ownership of Australia by the Indigenous people. In January 2011 Australia was reviewed by the UN Human Rights Council and in June 2011 Australia provided its response to the 145 recommendations made by the Human Rights Council and amend their policy towards the indigenous people. The Racial Discrimination Act 1975 has been fully reinstated in relation to the Northern Territory Emergency Response December 2010. Essay on National Cranberry 9 688 122 REV: MARCH 17, 2006 National Cranberry Cooperative (Abridged) On February 14, 1981, Hugo Schaeffer, vice president of operations at the National Cranberry Cooperative (NCC), called his assistant, Mel O Brien, into his office and said: Mel, I spent all day yesterday reviewing last fall s process fruit operations at receiving plant #1 [RP1] with Will Walliston, the superintendent, and talking with the co op members [growers] in that area. It s obvious to me that we haven t solved our problems at that plant, yet. Even though we spent $100,000 last winter for a fifth Kiwanee dumper at RP1, our overtime costs were still out of control this fall, and the growers are still upset that their trucks and drivers had to spend so ... Some significant trends are observable in Table A. Probably the most important trend was the growing surplus of cranberries produced over those utilized. This surplus was serious enough by 1978 for the growers to resort to the Agriculture Marketing Agreement Act of 1937. Under this act, growers can regulate and control the size of an agricultural crop if the federal government and more than two thirds of the growers agree to a plan for crop restriction. • 5. Water Hardness Essay Introduction: Water is an important substance that is needed all around the world. Freshwater is not completely pure though. It has dissolved solutes from minerals, and gases from the atmosphere. The presence of dissolved ions in water gives it a chemical property that is called water hardness. Water hardness refers to a liquid that has a high concentration of minerals, but those minerals are typically Ca2+, and Mg2+. Water that has a very low concentration of these elements is called soft . This chemical property can be measured as concentrations in molarity, M; parts per million, ppm; and grains per gallon1. Once you measure the hardness of water, there s a scale you could compare it to. If the measurement of the water is less than 17.1 ppm, the classification of that is that the water is soft. The classification of water being 17.1 60 ppm is that it s slightly hard. If the water is 60 120 ppm the classification of that water is moderately hard. If the water is 120 180 ppm it s said to be hard. Anything over 180 ppm is considered very hard.2 It is important to study the hardness of water because of the of the problems that can arise when left untreated. Hard water can cause a build up in plumbing fixtures or water heaters. This happens when calcium carbonate is deposited as calcite crystals on the inner surface of pipes, and evaporator surfaces. The build up can cause a blockage in pipes, and eventually corrode the metal of the pipes.3 Water hardness can be determined ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Postmodernism As A Fairy Tale Postmodernist thought has bought with it an interrogation of narrative strategies and ways of looking at myths, history and even fairytales. Postmodernism, as Hutcheon suggests works through parody to both legitimize and subvert that which it parodies.1 Postmodernism does not just offer to shed light on new critical capacities but also to rethink history and to signal present representations from past ones. Postmodern fairytale narratives thus offer, if not a counter mandate, often a reading into the classic fairytale. These revisits offer a space, especially for women to question and redefine gender roles. The rewritings offer images of woman, an underpinning of the Other, normalised as part of culture. Since they rhetorically and literally incorporate that which they aim to contest 2 modernism, history, the humanistic subject, other narrative texts and genre they often sublate as complicated metaphors of human situation. Postmodern fairytales seek to understand the fairytale , not as children s literature but within the broader context of folklore and literary studies. Cristina Bacchilega in her seminal work Postmodern Fairy Tales that focuses on the narrative strategies through which women are portrayed in four classic stories: Snow... • 7. The Approach Of The Software Artifact Summarization Paradigm Our approach consists of following steps. First, we collected a corpus of code fragments, containing 127 code fragments, extracted directly from the Eclipse and NetBeans Official FAQs. Second, we hired human annotators to suggest summary lines i.e., Gold Summary Lines (annotation). Third, we introduced crowdsourcing (data driven) as a problem solving model in software artifact summarization paradigm, as it had not been employed before for software artifact summarization, for extracting code features. Fourth, we trained two classifiers namely Support Vector Machines (SVM) and Naive Bayes (NB) on code fragments. Next, we evaluated the effectiveness of these classifiers on different statistical measures such as Accuracy, Precision, Recall, F Score, True Positive Rate (TPR), False Positive Rate (FPR), Receiver Operator Characteristic (ROC), and Area under curve (AUC). In the end, we performed feature selection analysis to rank and determine the importance of selected features. In the sections below, we discuss these steps one by one. 5.2.1 Corpus Creation We need a corpus of code fragments to train and judge the effectiveness of our classifiers. Optimally, such a corpus would have been made available before or created by experts in the field of code fragment summarization. Previously, Ying et al. [94] have collected a corpus of code fragments containing 70 code fragments from Eclipse Official FAQ. Since last year, additional 8 code fragments have been added to Eclipse FAQ, ... • 9. Hunger World Hunger World hunger has become an increasing problem within society. Globally, one in nine people in the world today (795 million) are undernourished. (United Nations) Many individuals, especially those in developing countries are restricted from being able access food. This could be due to various reasons such as: poverty, distribution, inequality etc. As a result of unjust starvation, it is estimated that 3.1 million children die annually from hunger. In 2011 poor nutrition caused forty five percent of children under the age of five to die. (World hunger facts) Hunger is described in the dictionary as a feeling of discomfort or weakness caused by a lack of food. Hunger and starvation has the potential to be diminished according to OXFAM Canada which reports that there is enough food to feed the world population. Due to the suffering and death of many hunger victims, a plea to find a cure to world hunger is strong. Focusing on the solutions to the global food crisis is critical for the survival of human beings. Returning to agriculture s roots has potential to support the alleviation of unnecessary starvation within the world. Modern practices of farming are often quite different than they were one hundred years ago. Modernly, many farmers use fertilizers and pesticides on their crops as protection from harmful insects and plant diseases. However, fueling one s body with vegetation that is covered in toxic chemicals is harmful? Joseph Mercola, a physician who specializes in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are still two sides of a coin a world of civilization and a world of underdeveloped society in this one country USA. The paradox is that the constitution which seems to be a model of democracy to many nations of the world lacks a lot for not acting accordingly. Those organized and unorganized struggles of Native Americans were challenged by the heavily armed white majority settlers. This was followed by the huge damage of the Bureau of Indian Affairs BIA. In 1973, the government came with denying the requests and then the leaders of American Indian movement AIM, promised to keep struggling (Kent 1769). The leaders of the AIM were Russel Means and Denis Banks. There were also some internal differences among the Indian American tribes. For instance Oglala Sioux Tribe leaders were criticizing the oppositions. As a result, The AIM leaders were also critical to those tribes and to the tribal president Richard Wilson. They blamed Wilson for his mismanagement of his tribe s fund. Wilson had responded with serious attack on his opponents and their families. Hence, the government supported Wilson and convinced as the leaders intended to size BIA on February 12, 19763 which was followed by 60 heavily armed marshals (Kent). Death Penalty Information Center (n.d.) has concluded the process of general hanging. The process is started when the prisoner is weighed a day before the execution and the prison officers rehearse using a bag of sand weighing the same as the prisoner. By rehearsing, the prison officers could determine the length of the rope so as not to prolong the torture and suffering of the prisoner. Before the rope can be used, it has to be treated. Firstly, the 3/4inch to 1 Вј inch rope is boiled and stretched to eliminate spring or coiling. The knot should be lubricated with wax or soap ( Hanged by the Neck , n.d.) to ensure a smooth sliding action (US Army Manual, 1969). Now, the prisoner is blindfolded, hands and legs bounded, and noose is placed on his neck. Then, the trapdoor underneath the prisoner is opened, allowing the prisoner to fall through. Rank s model states that two major strategies are used to achieve the particular goal of persuasion. These strategies are nicely set into two main schemas; the first method is to exaggerate an aspect of something, known as intensify. While the second is to discredit it, which is referred to as downplay. Al Franken, JeffreySnyder, Harlan Ellison, and George Will, have all written persuasive articles about gun control. Franken was also able to downplay the usefulness of a firearm by including a series of sarcastic tips for tragedy in a home. For example, 1. Keep the gun loaded... 2. His sarcasm adds diversity to his piece, but should be used sparingly. Franken s conclusion causes his argument to lose its effectiveness, after building his case it just seems ridiculous and out of place. The least persuasive essay out of the four was Harlan Ellison s An Edge in My Voice. Ellison presents his argument in a style that seems to me is more of a disgruntled rambling about both famous and infamous people that die from gun shot, than an article about gun control. Ellison spends the first few pages asking the reader if they cried when a certain person died; he begins with famous people such as Martin Luther King, Bobby Kennedy, and John Lennon, and then moves on to more obscure examples. Instead of trying to build an argument, Ellison seemed to be more caught up with anger and the notion of conspiracies. He does however try to use the intensify technique of Rank s model, to persuade the reader of the horror of deaths caused by guns and their importance. Although Ellison did try to persuade his audience in a different manor, I felt it was ineffective at best, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 23. Relationship Between Sex And Power Introduction Michel Foucault was a French philosopher, historian, social theorist, philologist and literary critic whose work had a tremendous impact on several disciplines. He was not a sociologist by training, but he worked diligently on sociological issues and otherwise had significant influence on the work of other sociologists. One of his most famous works is the The History of Sexuality, in which he examines the emergence of sexuality as a discursive object and separate sphere of life. According to Foucault, the idea that everyone has a sexuality is relatively a recent development in the West. In Volume 1, Foucault discusses the relationship between sex and power in a historical context. He states that the ways in which humans think about sexuality is primarily shaped by the repressive hypothesis, which claims that Western society had suppressed sexuality from the 17th to the mid 20th century, and this was due to the rise of capitalism and the bourgeois society. There are several key concepts in this book that will be discussed in this paper include repressive hypothesis, sexuality, power, and discourse. This paper will seek to show the ways in which sexuality is a discursive object, and how sexuality was linked to power throughout history. Foucault describes the repressive hypothesis as one that supposes that any increase of energy on purely pleasurable activities, such as sex, has been frowned upon since the rise of the bourgeoisie. However, not one of the Big Six supports domains. It is crucial that these products address this fundamental concept of the relational data model. You must be able to define your domains and then specify y our table columns, and preferably also your stored procedure variables and parameters, in terms of the domains. We found that both the targeted and non targeted programs provide an array of services, such as housing, health care, job training, and transportation. (p. 4). Unfortunately, there are people out in the world who don t care for helping the homeless. • 31. Exhoration Vs. 16-18 Analysis Introduction Holy living is one of the more difficult aspects of the Christian life, and in chapter five in his epistle to the church in Galatia, Paul exhorts this living. This exhortation is especially seen in verses 16 18, when Paul contrasts a life in walking in the Spirit as opposed to the flesh. The difficulty for a Christian, Paul points out, is that there will always be a struggle between the desires of the flesh and fruits of the spirit. He sets up this exhortation in v.16 18 with a statement in v.13, he says For you were called to freedom....do not use your freedom for an opportunity for the flesh, but through love. This is message that would have contrasted a false teaching of works of the flesh at that time in Galatia, and this message would have been a correction of that teaching. Differences from Today... • 32. Summary Of Every Trip Is A Quest 1 3. The main idea of Chapter 1 Every Trip Is a Quest (Except When It s Not) (pp.1 6) can be concluded in the following sentence: every story is a quest that consists of a person that has a reason to go to a certain place with challenges on one s way which then leads the particular person (usually the main hero of a story) to the actual, or real, reason associated with self knowledge, because the quest is always educational. 4. The next key words were identified in the chapter and serve as an informal outline of the chapter. At the beginning of the chapter, Foster gives a brief example of a quest: a knight (Kip), a dragon road (German shepherds), Holy Grail (wonder bread), one dragon ( 68 Cuda), evil knight (Tony) and a princess (the laughing girl). In other words, each story has a quester, a place to go to, along with stated reason to go there and unknown challenges and trials en route; however, at the end there is a real reason for the whole trip self discovery (Foster 3). This is why Foster calls it one of the greatest quest books it is entertaining, mystifying and has a defined quest. Moreover, that is what Gottschall talks about in the first chapter that humans are by nature story telling beings, and this is why we want to read, and write stories in the most entertaining way (20). The second example can be compared to ideas in Gottscchall s book in chapter 3. According to Gottscchall, if there is no knotty problem, there is no story (49). • 35. Theory Of The Permafrost Theory Permafrost theory The third medium explored as a heat sink for the heat exchanger is permafrost. Permafrost is soil that is frozen year round. The top layer of permafrost experiences an active change in temperature over the year. However, the permafrost retains a constant annual temperature a couple meters below the surface. The constant below freezing temperature of the permafrost makes it a potential heat sink for the heat exchanger. The permafrost is treated as a solid for our exploratory analysis of it as the heat sink. Therefore, for the purposes of our models, conduction is the primary mode of heat transfer out of the heat exchanger system when permafrost is used as the surrounding medium. Fourier s Law is used as the fundamental equation used in all of the heat exchanger analysis. Fourier s Law: q = k∇T Where: q = Heat flux k = Thermal conductivity ∇T = Temperature gradient A basic model of the heat exchanger is a pipe carrying the CO2 through permafrost. The inlet temperature, outlet temperature, and heat rate out are all known variables. The dimensions of a simple tubular heat exchanger are found using the general heat exchanger equation. General Heat Exchanger Equation: q=UA∆T Where: Q = Heat rate U = Overall heat transfer coefficient A = Outer surface area О”T = Change in temperature The pipe experiences heat transfer by means of internal convection from the CO2, conduction through the pipes material, and conduction from the permafrost. The Danger in Susan Glaspell s Trifles Essay The Danger in Susan Glaspell s Trifles Susan Glaspell s Trifles is a play about a real life murder case that uses symbolism to help bring it to a close. It is easy to see that Mr. and Mrs. Wright live in a society that is cut off from the outside world and also strongly separated by gender. Three of the key symbols in Glaspell s play are a simple bird cage, a quilt, and isolationism. Anna Uong of Virginia Tech and Karen Shelton of JSRCC share these same ideas on symbolism. Mrs. Hale wondered ?if she was goin? to quilt it or knot it?(840). By quilting the blanket, she would have chosen to endure the pain that John was putting her through, but by knotting the quilt she chose to eliminate it. Just as a knot represents a finishing or a completion of a project, it also was an end to John. The weaving of the quilt also symbolises the building up of the marriage and then the end of it. ?The quilt started out as a beautiful piece of art and was brought to a close by a couple of sloppy stitches and knots?(Uong). Just like the Wright?s marriage, the quilt was beautiful until the end where everything was simply a mess. Isolationism also plays a very important role in the story. The Wright?s farmhouse is located in a hallow, in the woods. This sets her in a secluded place away from most civilisation. Polymer Weight Averages And Molecular Distribution Part:C A 1: Polymer weight averages and molecular distribution: There are two types of molecular averages from which we can , the number average and weight average, which can we calculate by knowing the number of molecules and that weight fractions in the polymer. If we are given numbers of molecules with their molecular weights. Then we can calculate number average molecular weight (Mn) and weight average molecular weight (Mw). From that, we can get polydispersity index and know it is monodispersed or not. Suppose, we are given number of molecules (Ni) and molecular weight of those molecules (Mi), Number average molecular weight Weight average molecular weight Polydispersity index (PDI) = If PDI = 1 then mixture is homogeneous And if PDI 1 then mixture is heterogeneous We can draw molecular weight distribution by taking the molecular weight (M) on the X axis and Number of molecules (N) on Y axis or vice versa. Figure (1) is the molecular weight distribution. Cross linking in polymer: When two or more molecular chains chemically react with each other and make covalent bonds between them which are called cross linking. It makes polymers high dense. Nevertheless at the same time, the problem of overfishing is becoming increasingly worrisome and attract extensive attention of the society. In this essay, I will address overfishing and propose some possible causes of this phenomenon which can give contribution to some solutions. Introduction This issue of overfishing covers vast fields, such as science, humanity, economy, society and nature. The term optimum , in regard to the yield from a fishery, is difficult to be defined, precisely and fixedly. Generally speaking, we can describe it as follows: (Niles E. Stople, January 2009, FishNet USA) Will provide maximum effectiveness benefit to the Nation, particularly in relation to food production and recreational opportunities, and giving consideration to the protection of marine ecosystems In case of an overfished fishery, provides for reconstructing to a level consistent with producing the maximum sustainable yield in such fishery Overfishing s status as the focus of public concern mainly results from its negligible but harmful influence on individuals, collective, and even the whole world. One of the world s significant fishery in the East China Sea is damage by overfishing and growing levels of contamination, recent research has shown, confirming the fear of fishermen and environmentalists.
