A Rhetorical Analysis Of Grant Hackett
GRANT HACKETT OR GRANT SMACKIT, why are we spending so much time recording his
melt downs?
Ordinary people, amble past a front yard on their generally hushed street, but now news vans are
parked the whole way down the street, there are numerous cameras and reporters talking at once.
As soon as the gate opens in the front yard, everyone lunges for their phones and cameras,
frantically trying to record anything spoken from; Grant Hackett s family.
The media, no matter what sort of media you look at, it has an impact on you. Our phone buzzes
five minutes after a celebrity or political person has had a meltdown. Everyone else has melt
downs, why doesn t our phones buzz when we have one?

One way Colman has put you in a position to view that Grant Hackett is an incredibly troubled
man, which may be true but yet there is countless amount of other people who are in the same
situation and are incredibly troubled as well as Hackett. The media has put Hackett on a
prodigious pedestal but yet takes just as much pleasure in seeing those fall from that pedestal.
Colman has stated Still, I suppose when we place someone on a pedestal as high as the one we
built for Grant and his teammate Ian Thorpe, there is only one way to go. Mike Colman Courier
Mail 2017. This statement made by Colman, has put you in a position where you can see that
Hackett has fallen, but in this particular article, it was the only statement that Colman made about
falling off a pedestal . The rest of the article was composing that Grant Hackett has fallen from
grace and needs serious help. Which, yes, may be true but what about everyone else? In this article
the only statement from Hackett himself, the truth is I m only human and it does hurt. This
comment is not recent as it was from last year when Hackett was commentating on the

Improvement Opportunity: The Define Phase The purpose of this project was to gain experience in
quality improvement by working with an organization to identify a business problem, analyze the
causes, develop an improvement plan, implement changes, and to verify the effectiveness of the
solutions. For this project we had to keep scope in mind. This project had to follow certain criteria,
such as: that it is a manageable project with a local organization, it can be completed within the
time frame of the course, it has a direct impact on external customers, it is relatively simple, and
that it is not something that is currently undergoing major changes.
The company that our group has partnered with for this project is CVS Pharmacies. We looked into
this company to see if there were any areas for improvement within the organization that would
have an impact on external customers. Within this define stage is when we did exactly that, we
defined the problem. One problem that we found within the CVS Pharmacy, that would be easy
enough to handle given the scope of the project, concerned the stores current inventory (overstock,
backstock) system. It seemed that currently there was no formalized process with regard to placing
items in overstock, resulting in an unorganized and unconventional overstock area. This created a
problem because it made it harder

The Importance Of Parenting In Friday Night Lights
Parenting is very important to children, and it directly or indirectly affects all aspects of a child
s life, from school and behavior to social relationships and sports. The non fiction book, Friday
Night Lights, by H. G. Bissinger takes place in Odessa, Texas in 1988 and focuses on the
Permian Panther high school football team. Football acts as a driving force for many high
school and upper level athletes, and often keeps the players striving to do better on the field, and
in life. The support parents give physically, emotionally, and financially to their child that is
participating in sports is important; however, fathers involvement specifically can often bring
added pressure due to the high expectations. Mike Winchell,Permian s starting quarterback,
strived to make his father proud. His father, Billy Winchell, had been in an oil accident that Had
cost him his leg, and eventually his father leg go,all too soon for Mike(Bissinger,73). Mike s
fathers death at 13, combined with his parents split up when he was 5, forced Mike to grow up
at a very young age. Billy and Mike had a very strong father son relationship, and his father
assisted in coaching Mike the sports that he played; Billy was a very demanding and harsh, but
compassionate instructor, guiding Mike through his baseball and football career. Billy was very
leaneate in certain charastics of raising his son,but also consequential in other aspects, insisting He

Maternity Insurance Coverage
One of the most important things that you shall know if you are pregnant is whether or not you
have maternity insurance coverage. These days, it is very expensive to give birth. You have to
think of the doctor s fees, hospital bills, medications, and so on. After giving birth, the expenses
do not stop there. You still have to think about the baby s expense as he or she is growing up. This
is why it is important to think of ways to minimize your pregnancyexpenses as much as possible.
Maternity coverage is not an insurance policy on its own. It is usually covered as a rider benefit in
your health insurance. When choosing health insurance, be sure to choose something that has
maternity coverage. To know more about pregnancy coverage, you need ... Show more content on

It could include prenatal care or outpatient monthly checkups with your doctor. It could also
include hospital bills, doctor s fee, and medications. Some women who gave birth and have good
insurance policies do not have to pay anything. It is important to choose the right kind of insurance
policy that gives you more coverage at the most affordable price.
3) Considerations
When choosing health insurance, you have to choose something that has maternity insurance. If
you already have health insurance without pregnancy coverage, you can talk with your insurance
provider and ask them what you can do about it. They can add maternity coverage to your
insurance or you can shift to a different plan with maternity coverage. You have to apply for
pregnancy insurance when you are still in the process of getting pregnant. It may be more difficult
to get approval for your application if you are applying when you are already pregnant.
Another consideration is to find affordable health insurance policies that require you to pay
reasonable premiums but with good coverage. If you are employed in a good company, you do
not have to worry about getting yourself health insurance with pregnancy coverage because the
company is required to do this for their employees, but if you are self employed, you need to take
care of these things

Film Analysis Of The Film Vrtigo
Vertigo was a film produced by Alfred J Hitchcock Productions released in 1958. The film was
made in San Juan Bautista, CA with an estimated budget of $2,479,000 and grossed $3,200,000
at the box office. The film s runtime was 128 minutes long. It was based on a 1954 crime novel
written by Pierre Bioleau and Pierre Ayraud called Sueurs Froides: D Entre les Morts which
means Cold Sweat: From Among the Dead. This film is filled with a lot of passion and well
polished acting and several confusing plot twists. Paying attention to the details of the character s
actions helped to understand some of the confusing scenes and what was going on in the movie
overall. Alfred HitchcockVertigo is an impractical tale filled with fascination, manipulation and fear

Zeffirelli Vs Branagh
Hamlet is one of Shakespeare s most well known and most frequently performed plays. Many
people have enjoyed reading and watching hamlet, both on stage and theatrically. Directors often
add different styles to their pieces to invoke different moods. These styles change as time
progresses; predominant in the comparison between Franco Zeffirelli s and Kenneth Branaghs
direction of William Shakespeares Hamletact 3 scene 1. Zeffirelli s interpretation of Shakespeare s
Hamlet act 3 scene 1 is more effective than Branagh s interpretation. Zeffirelli centralizes the play
around a dark setting and dark clothing style which puts emphasis on the sadness certain characters
are facing. Whereas Branagh uses more vibrant colors in clothing style and... Show more content on

Branagh s use of setting is not as effective as other cinematic depictions of the play, as it does not
fully enlighten the sad mood. Branagh s style of direction takes away the sad mood. To begin,
Branagh uses a colorful setting to take away the emphasis on the surrounding sadness, while
maintaining a sad mood. In Branagh s version his portrayal of the setting during the interaction
between Hamlet and Ophelia captures the sad mood. Branagh captures Hamlets movement
through an array of rare emotion as he takes in Ophelia s words. When Hamlet and Ophelia first
see each other, happy music and warm light and bright setting create a light, triumphant mood
that showcases their deep love. The statement I did love you once (3.1.14) is spoken with tears
in his eyes that capture Hamlet s love. When Ophelia s returns the tokens Hamlet shows his
feelings of betrayal and all of his emotions shift as he grapples at understanding. As Hamlet s
anger rises, the music shifts to match it. This interpretation suggests that with deep love comes
the ability to hurt each other deeply. Shortly after Ophelia s sorrowful speech helps aid in
developing a sad mood. The use of setting is not as effective as other depiction of the scene yet it
prevails in its intention of creating a sad mood. Next, the setting during Hamlet s soliloquy is
what establishes a sad mood. Branagh s makes Hamlet speaks his soliloquy steadily in a large
room filled with mirrors. Mirrors are often used to suggest self reflection and clarity. It is ironic
Branagh s emotionally susceptible Hamlet is associated with an item of reflection and clarity.

Is War Ever Justified Analysis
Is War Ever Justified Should people be persecuted for their beliefs? The Reign of Terror was a war
that had lasted for eighteen months starting with the execution of the king Louis XIV on January
21st 1793, and ending with the death of the leader of the revolution Robespierre. During those
eighteen months 20,000 to 40,00 people were killed by the guillotine, and many more were killed
by the war. The Reign of Terrorwas not justified because of the internal and external threats were
not very serious, rights were being taken away, and because there were too many deaths, During
the revolution there were some external and internal threats but they were not a major problem for
France. Prussia and Austria did invade France but throughout the war France had an advantage and
stayed winning, according to (document B) France had won the battle of Valmy in 1792, not only
that but it also shows that three years later France had defeated Prussia and Austria and took over the

Essay on A Brief History of Hard Rock
The music industry has many different genres, to suit a multitude of listeners; but, the most
popular is rock. Rock has numerous genres within itself, including; heavy metal, hard rock, arena
rock, and many more. The most popular genre would be either heavy metal or hard rock. They
are both very similar in taste with the only differences being what the music is about and the pitch
of the music. Heavy metal is typically about the darker things in life and it will have an overall
deeper pitch to it. While, hard rockis considered good time music and contains a multitude of
different pitches.
Hard rock really began in the 1970 s; but, is rooted from the music of the mid 1960 s; such as,
garage rock, blues rock and psychedelic rock. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These bands along with the others that had risen from this time period are still around today and
have millions of fans. The 1980 s had brought with them a new era of hard rock, the glam metal
era. During this period many of the hard rock bands of before had broken up and only a few
remained. The remaining bands changed their style of play even more, toward the heavy metal
scene. This in turn allowed the creation of the punk metal genre and the development of the
heavy metal scene. Within this new era several bands had changed their appearance along with
their music. Kiss had removed their, famous, makeup and moved toward the pop/punk genre.
Near the end of this era all of the surviving artists had either stayed with hard rock or jumped on
the new, popular, heavy metal bandwagon. Within the 2000 s many of the band had come to end
and were forced to separate because most people had fallen for the heavy metal genre and were no
longer interested in just heard rock. To this day a few bands such as AC/DCand Foreigner are still
holding sold out concerts and completely refuse to ever cease, even though the public would never
let it happen.
On New Year s Eve 1974, one of the greatest rock bands to have ever existed took the stage for the

Emotional Intelligence ( Eq )
Professional success is an innate goal of all individuals in their employment. Much success in the
workplace can be contributed to one s emotional intelligence (EQ) or their understanding of
emotions in themselves and co workers which can use to form positive collegial relationships
(Cherniss Exetin, 2006). The book Emotional Intelligence2.0 by Bradberry and Greaves (2009),
effectively explains what Emotional Intelligence and provides useful strategies to improve one
s EQ. However, while the book has a foundation in scientific study, it is not much more than a
glorified self help book as it does not contain much of any scientific support. This, however, is
the authors intention as they state that the single purpose of the book is to increase the reader s
emotional intelligence. This critique will examine the scientific basis of the claims Bradberry
and Greaves as a result of their research in emotional intelligence in addition to the validity of
their EQ appraisal. This critique will also examine the most effectual aspects of the book which
when successfully adapted, can produce benefits for individuals as well as their organizations. In
addition, the critique will also point out areas in which HR professionals can benefit from the
book. The layout of Emotional Intelligence 2.0 is very straight forward and easily adaptable for
use whether personal or business related. In the first couple of chapters it does a good job
explaining what emotional intelligence is and

We Wear The Mask By Paul Laurence Dunbar
Shapeshifting requires the ability to transcend your attachments, in particular your ego attachments
to identity and who you are. If you can get over your attachment to labeling yourself and your
cherishing of your identity, you can be virtually anybody. You can slip in and out of different
shells, even different animal forms or deity forms. Zeena Schreck, religious leader of the Sethian
Liberation Movement. In the poem We Wear the Maskby Paul Laurence Dunbarthe reader should
learn that individuals feel the need to wear a mask to change their personality into the more ideal
individual which surpasses their confidence, fear, insecurities, and emotions. This poem develops
the realities about self image and how it makes individuals act in society.
Initially, the poem opens with We wear the mask that grins and lies, it hides our cheeks and
shades our eyes (Dunbar, 1 2). The mask presents the truthful and untruthful sides of individuals.
The mask is also a work of craftiness as it forces the individual to appear happy, regardless of the
pain they may be feeling beneath the surface. Individuals that struggle with themselves wear a
mask to show everyone else that they are not struggling and have everything figured out. Just like
being in pain With torn and bleeding hearts we smile (Dunbar, 3). Individuals force smiles on their
faces to portray to others that they are happy no matter whats going on in their life.
However, this poem is also relevant to the Nobody

Dr Jekyll And Mr Hyde Theme Essay
The theme of the book is basically good vs evil and split personality. Mr Utterson tries to solve
the case of Dr Jekyll s will that s linking to the mysterious man Mr Hyde. No one in London
knows who Mr Hyde is, and the few people who saw him described him as weird and slightly
deformed . In the first chapter, Mr Utterson said Mr Hyde is Not easy to describe . And that there
is something wrong with his appearance; something displeasing, something downright
detestable , and He must be deformed somewhere; he gives a strong feeling of deformity,
although I couldn t specify the point. He s an extraordinary looking man . Dr Jekyll, on the
other hand, is a wealthy rich man in London and is well liked, respectable doctor. The two seems

Starbucks Fixed Cost
In regards to the company Starbucks, their cost of production includes the cost of coffee beans,
milk, plastic products, advertising, rent and labor. When thinking about the high price of
Starbucks coffee customers should consider the cost of what goes into the coffee, Howard Schultz
said I am concerned about dairy, both domestically and around the world, and we are working
feverishly with our suppliers, (and to) identify new suppliers (Thomnson, R. 2014). When it comes
to the price of coffee, prices recently hit a two year high due to crop damaging drought in Brazil,
the top producer (Thomnson, R. 2014). This has a huge impact on the price consumers pay for their
coffee.
The determinants of Starbucks profitability over time are variable costs and fixed costs. A variable
cost is a cost that change in direct proportion to a change in the level of activity (Pearson, 2016) .
Variable costs for Starbucks would include labor, coffee beans, dairy, and plastic products. A
fixed cost is indirect costs of business expenses that remain unchanged (Pearson, 2016). Fixed
costs for Starbucks include rent, taxes, and insurance as well as advertising. In the figure below

Grades
Grades in the realm of education are standardized measurements of varying levels of comprehension
within a subject area.
Grades can be assigned in letters (for example, A, B, C, D, or F), as a range (for example 4.0
1.0), as a number out of a possible total (for example out of 20 or 100), as descriptors (excellent,
great, satisfactory, needs improvement), in percentages, or, as is common in some post secondary
institutions in some countries, as a Grade Point Average (GPA). GPA is calculated by taking the
number of grade points a student earned in a given period of time divided by the total number of
credits taken.[1] The GPA can be used by potential employers or further post secondary institutions

This was done primarily for the students benefit, since they were not permitted to move on to the
next level until they demonstrated their mastery of the current one. It was also the earliest example
of a narrative report card.
With the passage of compulsory attendance laws at the elementary level during the late nineteenth
and early twentieth centuries, the number of students entering high schools increased rapidly.
Between 1870 and 1910 the number of public high schools in the United States increased from 500
to 10,000. As a result, subject area instruction in high schools became increasingly specific and
student populations became more diverse. While elementary teachers continued to use written
descriptions and narrative reports to document student learning, high school teachers began using
percentages and other similar markings to certify students accomplishments in different subject
areas. This was the beginning of the grading and reporting systems that exist today.
The shift to percentage grading was gradual, and few American educators questioned it. The
practice seemed a natural by product of the increased demands on high school teachers, who now
faced classrooms with growing numbers of students. But in 1912 a study by two Wisconsin
researchers seriously challenged the reliability of percentage grades as accurate indicators of
students achievement.
In their study, Daniel Starch and Edward Charles Elliott showed that high school

Adolf Hitler(Germany), Benito Mussolini (Italy), and Hirohito (Japan). Many countries supported

created in October of 1936 by Germany and Japan. By November they created the Anti
Comintern that was against the Soviet Union. In 1939, the Pact of Steel was created between
Germany and Italy. This would enable them to be linked with each other. By June 1940, Italy
officially made its debut in WWII, by invading France and was later arrested by Allies. Later that
year, the Tripartite Pact was created, making Japan officially an Axis. It was also created to
convince the U.S to join the Axis Powers. About two months later, Axis gained from the help of
Hungary and Romania. In December of 1941 Japan bombed U.S, also known as Bombing of

choose one piece of art to write an essay about. It was my first time going to the Walker Art Center
and I found myself in amazement with the all the artwork there. I examined many pieces and found
the piece Do womanhave to be naked to get into the Met. Museum ? By the Guerrilla girls the most
compelling. I found this piece compelling because it was the only one that caught my eye since it
was one of the few that represents feminismand equality for women and minorities.... Show more

First of all I started with the subject matter of the artwork. What I saw the subject matter to be
was the woman with the gorilla mask on because it is what catches the audience attention, and it
was also the most detailed aspect in the artwork. The rest was is bolded words and blanket the
woman lays on. The poster is also an example of postmodern art. Next, the medium of this
artwork is screen printed on a poster. The Form of this image is huge. When I saw it at the
Walker Center in the section of the Guerilla girls it was the biggest of them all. The others were
fairly small and put next to each other but this one in particular was by itself and much bigger
than the rest. The context about this poster is that you see a woman that is naked and she wears
a gorilla mask which represents the guerrilla girls. She also covers her private parts to get the
point across that is stated in bold letters that is also the title of the artwork which says Do
woman have to be naked to get into the Met. Museum ? In other words, the naked woman s
private parts being covered is not a coincidence but instead it is the artist s way of telling people
how naked woman are often used in artwork and it s not fair. The poster gets even more
descriptive with the smaller bolder words in the image that state Less than 5% of the artist

Nature In Frankenstein Research Paper
Art in the Romantic era was dominated by emotion rather than industrial personal values. Due to
the dehumanizing work that was done in factories the artists of the time began to stress the
emotions in order to evoke emotion from the soulless factory workers. This is evident in the
music of the era with the rises and falls. Ride of the Valkyries by Wagner was one of the major
compositions of this time. Furthermore, nature was being corrupted by the industrial revolution of
the time and therefore it was placed on a pedestal. Authors and painters in this era exhibited an
intense love for nature. Frankenstein, by Mary Shelley, exhibits particular praise of nature and
insight into the views of authors at the time. Wagner composed Ride of the Valkyries

Factors That Led To The Fall Of The Roman Republic
Three ideals and traditions of the Roman Republic, lust for power, greed, and loyalty, each
contributed to the collapse of the Republic. Desire for power played a major role in the collapse
of the Republic because Caesar, the man who arguably began the Republic s downfall, marched
on Rome because he wanted power. The second ideal that led to the Republic s collapse was
greed and the power of money, for example bribing officials in Rome, Crassus shocking alliance
with Caesar, and Pompey s strategy to fight Caesar during the first civil war. The last ideal that
aided the downfall of the Republic was loyalty, specifically citizens loyalty to political leaders or
military generals, loyalty between generals and their veterans, and loyalty between political leaders.

Before the collapse of the Republic, Sulla, a roman patrician, declared himself dictator and used
proscription lists, a list of people posted in the forum who were declared enemies of the state, to
maintain his power. This example shows how lust for power was inherent and already
destructive in the Republic, prior to its collapse. Similar to lust for power, greed could be found
within the Republic before its collapse. For example, patricians, aristocrats, would buy farmland
from plebeians who were serving in the army, and they used the land to increase their wealth.
Lastly, loyalty was viewed as an important aspect of the Republic, specifically loyalty to
politicians, family, and the Republic s beliefs. Most Roman households had some allegiance to a
certain politician and would support that politician despite their own personal beliefs. These three
ideals of the Republic were established and followed long before the collapse of the Republic, and
all three grew into destructive forces that caused the collapse of the

Urban sprawl Essay
This Halloween, Sean Clancy had the most original costume in his southern Pennsylvania
neighborhood. The base layer of his costume wasn t very exciting at all a flannel shirt, jeans and
boots. However, the next layer really made Clancy s costume memorable. He tucked a street
sign into his belt and draped a GAP bag from his left pocket. He hung a Coke can from his thigh
and pinned a Sunoco gas rebate banner on his right knee. A KFC sign was just above his left
knee, and Clancy s mask was a US road atlas. Even among all the goblins, ghouls, ghosts, and

Dear Manger:
I am pleased to present the report you authorized on February 15, 2016, regarding the feasibility of
potential Chick fil a options for the upcoming CAT drivers party.
An analysis of both spicy chicken sandwich and grill chicken sandwich Mansion found that,
although both alternatives offered delicious options, spicy chicken sandwich better met our chosen
criteria in cost, choices, and delivery time. It is, therefore, the recommendation that we utilize spicy
chicken sandwich for our upcoming drivers Chick fil a party.
Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to research potential party choices. I appreciate your
consideration of my recommendation. Should you have any questions regarding this report, please
do not hesitate to contact me at (703) 505 5555.

Improving Health, Education, And The Environment
The MDGs identify and quantify specific gains that could be made to improve the lives of the
world s poor people. Their aim is to reduce poverty while improving health, education, and the
environment. These goals were endorsed by 189 countries at the September 2000 UN Millennium
General Assembly in New York. They focus on significant, measurable improvements for the efforts
of the World BankGroup, governments, other international organizations, and other partners in the
developmentcommunity. The MDGs grew out of the agreements and resolutions that have resulted
from world conferences organized by the UN in the past 10 15 years. Each goal is to be achieved
by 2015, with progress to be measured by comparison with 1990 levels. Although the... Show more

But providing assistance isn t limited to providing financial aid. Developing countries may also
benefit if trade barriers are lowered, hence allowing a freer exchange of goods and services.
Achieving the goals is an enormous challenge. Partnerships between the Bank Group, the UN
Development Group (UNDG), and other organizations, as well as between donors and developing
countries, are the only way to ensure coordinated and complementary efforts. The UNDG consists
of the many UN programs, funds, and agencies engaged in development assistance and related
activities. The Bank Group participates in the UNDG and supports its framework for greater
coherence and cooperation in UN development operations.
Strategic Framework
The Bank Group s strategic framework concentrates on the twin pillars of:
1.building an appropriate climate for investment, jobs, and sustainable growth so that economies
will grow,
2.Investing in and empowering poor people to participate in development.
In recent years, the executive directors have underscored the continued relevance of these
priorities, have reaffirmed the need for selectivity in the Bank Group s work, and have called for
greater collaboration with development partners. In order focus on those pillars, the executive
directors have standardized the operational policies, practices and procedures. Furthermore, they
have discussed the needs of meeting requests of low income, heavily indebted and fragile countries.

Importance Of Social Class In Mrs Dalloway
Mrs. Dalloway is an exceptional novel with several varying themes throughout the book. The
setting of the novel takes place after World War I, previously known has the The Great War. The
characters express interesting reactions to topics common during their time period and illustrate
their own struggles. Class structure and social hierarchy play key roles in the novel and has certain
effects on the characters. The British people during that time valued social classas extremely vital.
The people in the upper class love life and enjoy themselves, but ones in the lower class have a
challenging time to move up in society. Woolf illustrates how the lower class basically looks up
to the wealthier and more successful people. The people the main character, Clarissa, associates
with herself are all in the same class or even higher up, for example, the prime minister attends
her gathering. Other characters like Miss Kilman, who Clarissa despises, and Ellie Henderson
are envious of Clarissa because they are lower then her in society. However, Clarissa is not alone
but mostly every single character worries about his/her social status and class whether they are
making it larger, keeping it consistent, or feeling jealous of others. There is a quote in the novel
that resonated with me and it was Mrs Dallowaysaid she would buy the flowers herself . Which is
basically stating how she would have to get up and buy them herself instead of sending a servant to
get them. Therefore, it is

Reflection Of Self Reflection
As I finish my first semester of college in Chico, I now realize how much I have changed over
the past three to four months. Coming here was a huge adjustment, but the town, people, and
classes I have taken are amazing. The classes I took this semester, especially the U Course, had a
very big impact on who I am as a person since I got to college. The class required me to reflect
upon myself, making me realize how much I was changing throughout the course. I can now
interpret how much I have learned about one s selfidentity, sustainability, and the four general
education student learning outcomes. Throughout the U course, I was forced to ask myself
who am i? and to reflect upon it in my writing. I was never certain on how to answer this
question; it s tough and broad. As of now, if asked this question I would identify myself as a
female who is open to anything life has to offer, is funny and social, but is an introvert as well. I
believe, The way you understand the world now has changed from the way you understood the
world as a child, and along with your changing perspective, your physical body, including your
motor coordination and your physical abilities, have altered (Thia Wolf 2012). As a child, I was
very closed minded, it was my way or no way. Now that i m older I see that i m open to more
things due to my experiences throughout life; this is why I believe in the social/relational
approaches to understanding the formation of identity. These theories suggest that we form our
identity from past experiences with others. In my opinion, these theories are the most precise
because one needs to experience with others to help identify themselves. Shared experiences inform
yourself that you are similar or not to the others; this helps to understand one s self identity. The
most change I have seen throughout the semester is in my Eco Identity. These past couple of
months, I have gained a great amount of knowledgeon the topic of sustainability causing my eco
identity to change drastically. Before college, I wasn t well educated or aware on the effects on
the earth we live on when living a unsustainable life. I would never try reducing my use of plastic,
water, or paper. Now I find myself using reusable

The Republic Of Texas, Texas Essay
The Republic Of Texas From March 2, 1836 to February 19, 1846, Texas as its own independent
country in North America. Those who resided in this independent country were referred to as
Texians. Texas declared its independence from Mexico in 1836 during the Texas revolution which
ended on April 21 of that same exact year. However, Mexico did not want to give the Republic of
Texasits independence which resulted in conflicts between that of Texas and Mexico that went on
into the 1840s. As a result, The United Statesof America recognized the Republic of Texas as an

Texas elected a Congress of fourteen senators and twenty nine representatives in the month of
September and year of 1836. However, within the Republic, citizenship was not a privileged for
everybody living in Texas. Not everybody had legal rights to reside within the limits of the
Republic without Congress permission. The Constitution of the Republic of Texas created

busy. I need to ask if I can come, I m sure she ll say yes. I probably need to clean my room first

done cleaning, and that was the end of it. I only had to wait an hour, maybe two, before she arrived

The child I observed engaging in dramatic play was my nephew who is three years old. During
my observation, my nephew rocky decided to play dress up with my son. The outfit Rocky

My son agreed and the moment my son agreed he began to chase after my son Dominic. As Rocky

Rocky said to stop he would continue to chase Dominic as they both laughed with excitement.

Living As A Lesbian, And August Jordan s A New Politics...
The articles that stood out the most to me were Cheryl Clarke s Living As a Lesbian and June
Jordan s A New Politics of Sexuality . These articles stood out, because while given a similar topic
(lesbians) they both possessed very different, yet similar arguments. I found this interesting because
it is a prime example of societies different views on controversial topics. Cheryl and June s articles
contain many differences, similarities and information to be reflected on.
Cheryl s main arguments are that everyone who loves women (whether its romantically, sexually,
platonically, etc.) is a feminist and lesbians are all part of a rebellion. She states, No matter how a
woman lives out her lesbianism she has rebelled against becoming the slave master s concubine,
viz., the male dependent female, the female heterosexual. This gives evidence towards her
argument that lesbians, regardless their intentions are resisting from the constructs that society
wants them to adhere to. June would disagree with this statement, arguing that lesbians aren t
solely out to rebel but are just pursuing their lives freely. Cheryl also points out that there is no
one sort of lesbian and that whether you consider yourself a full blown lesbian or bisexual it doesn
t change the fact that you are resisting against the heterosexual society. This being true, Cheryl
Clarke also disagrees with the idea of bisexuality; whereas June Jordan identifies as bisexual.

Professional Codes And Standards Of Practice
In order to resolve any ethical issue, a certain approach to address the case is necessary to reach
the solution. Several of the most important techniques is to fully acknowledge the problem by
gathering all of the facts, using problem solving methods, and appealing to professional codes and
standards of practice. In this paper, the following scenario will be addressed and analyzed:
Professor Xavier is a tenured professor of engineeringwho teaches at a large institution as a
licensed professional engineer. One of his students, Jean Grey, tells him that during an exam for
another class taught by Professor Osterman, a classmate named Scott Summers apparently used his
phone to take a picture of an exam question and sent it to someone. Jean also tells Professor Xavier
that she had informed Professor Osterman about Scott, and then Professor Osterman spoke to Scott
about his actions. However, Scott did not face any further consequences resulting from his behavior.
Given this situation, the actions of each person will be discussed using ethical theories, along with
the application of professional codes of ethicsto the responses of Professor Xavier and Professor
Osterman, as well as applying the line drawing method to discuss the ethical obligations of both
professors. It is essential to point out the actions of each individual in the scenario mentioned and
discuss the ethics each person exhibits. It begins with Jean Grey, who first reported the case of
Scott Summers cheating on

Baroque Era Research Paper
In the early Middle Ages, the human voice, God s creation within us, had been regarded in the
sacred realm as being the only instruments we needed. The church considered the use of instruments
as profane. There was no musical notation as songs were passed along from person to person by
rote memorization. In the secular world, instruments were used at times by jongleurs, trouveres, and
minnesingers. Some of those early instruments include the vielle, harp, psaltery, flute, shawm,
bagpipe, and drums (Thomas et al.). Those instruments were most likely used in an accompaniment
capacity, but since musical notation in the secular world was not really happening during this
period, not a lot of concrete information is really known about instrumental... Show more content on

The forces grew in size and became more widely used across many genres of music. Composers
such as Bach built large works that included many instruments to go along with vocalists. The
Opera, setting a play completely to music, emerged and used many instruments as accompaniment.
A basso continuo was the early rhythm section in the Baroque period which included a keyboard
instrument such as harpsichord, organ or clavichord and a bass instrument such as cello, violone, or
bassoon. Figured bass notation was written with interval numbers above a bass line to tell the
keyboardist what intervals to use to build the chords. Bach s Flute Sonata in C Major, BWV 1033
is an example of this technique with one melodic line on the top staff with a single bass line with
numbers underneath in the second bass clef staff. Instrument making techniques also improved
with technology during this period which allowed instrument makers to streamline their processes
and create instruments faster and for less money. This made instrument buying even more
affordable and proliferated the spread instruments around Europe (Westrup

Project on Settlement of Grievance
1.1 INTRODUCTION TO THE STUDY
A grievance is a complaint formally stated in writing. Management should be concerned with both
complaints and grievances, because both indicate potential problems within the workforce. A
grievance is a sign of the employee s discontent with the job and its nature. Grievance is caused due
to the difference between employee expectation and management practice, so management should
take a great consideration while dealing with grievance for the smooth functioning of the
organization.
A grievance is a sign of an employee s discontentment with his job or her relationship with his

While giving Ayurvedic treatment to a person to cure a particular disease, the physical, mental,
emotional and spiritual well being is taken into consideration. The best part of acquiring an
Ayurvedic treatment is that if the prescribed doses of medicine are taken, the diseases can be
cured in the most effect way. The Ayurvedic medicines generally come in the form of powders,
tablets, decoctions, and medicated oils, that are prepared from natural herbs, plants and minerals. In
addition, the diseases treated and cured by Ayurvedic medicines do not cause any side effects.
According to Ayurveda, the structural aspect of every individual is made up of five elements
earth, water, fire, air and space. The functional aspect of the body is governed by three biological

certain amount of mechanization is inevitably used for large scale production. The beauty of the

Dichotomy In The Outsiders
Have your feelings ever lead you to believe that you did not belong? Feeling such as those are
elegantly portrayed in S.E. Hinton s fictional novel The Outsiders by multiple characters in
groups in the book. These include the social classes, Ponyboy Curtis, and lastly Johnny Cade.
When a person s mind tells them they are different, than they can be classified as an outsider,
which means that feeling of being original is all in the mind. To begin, an outsider is someone
who seems left out, whether it is an opinion of themselves or that of others. In The Outsiders,
two social classes; greasers and Socs show that outsiders can be both inside and outside groups.
They also show the role of dichotomy in discrimination. A character named Cherry Valance is an

novel, Ponyboy Curtis displays the role of an outsider by differentiating it from the term
individual. Ponyboy is only a part of the gang because of his brothers. I was a tagalong and a kid
he had said Soda always took me when they went places (9). Even though his siblings had brought
Ponyboy to the gang, they still accepted him, even though he was younger, and felt differently
about certain things. His differences is classified him as an individual as well as an outsider. In
summary, it is important to realize the difference between the concept of individuality from being
outsider. Lastly, a small, fragile boy from The Outsiders named Johnny Cade shows the role of a

Motivations For Beowulf
The epic of Beowulf, the most precious relic of Old English, and, indeed, of all early Germanic
literature... ( While reading Beowulf, many have a series of questions throughout the epic poem.
On of the many questions is about what motivates the epic hero of the tale to danger his life.
Beowulf lives in Geatland and shows up in the land of the Danes and asks to fight a monster to
help them. He ends up fighting the monster s mother as well as a deadly dragon. What motivates
Beowulfto go after these three monsters? Beowulf goes after the monsters because of Anglo
Saxon codes, for vengeance, and fame. To begin, when Beowulf gets to the land of the Danes he
is only there because of his duty. In Anglo Saxon culture, if you were able to do something to help
someone else it was your... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Beowulf knows he will be injured trying to kill the beast but wants to do it anyways. Beowulf
brings a whole group of warriors to come watch him kill the dragon and help him if he becomes
too injured to continue. Beowulf says this before the fight, ...I will fight again, seek fame still...
(626). He knows how difficult the battle will be, he knows how old he is, yet he knows that he
would protect his people and gain fame from killing the monstrous beast. As Peter Leithart says
about the actions of Beowulf, The hero acts out of devotion to his lord or to his people, but dragon
acts out of malice. (Leithart). He says here that the reason that Beowulf goes to kill the dragon is
out of devotion to his people and to become more famous. Beowulf makes the ultimate sacrifice to
save his people. To conclude, Beowulf s motivations are fame, obligation, and vengeance. Without
the ideals of the Anglo Saxon times, Beowulf would have almost no reason to fight Grendel.
However, because of the codes that they had in their culture, Beowulf was created to show other
people how to act and what to do about duty and

Effects Of The Sauk Rapids Tornado
On the afternoon of April 14, 1886, the city of Sauk Rapids in Minnesota was nearly wiped out
after a tornado had struck the city. The whole city was left in complete devastation. Natural
disasters have always interested me, specifically tornadoes. Something about tornadoes, whether it d
be how they form or how they acquire their power to cause great destruction, interests me to learn
more about tornadoes. This led me to research about tornadoes in Minnesota. As I began surfing the
internet about tornadoes that occurred in Minnesota, I came across the effects that each tornadohad
caused to the areas that it had struck. This is where I discovered the effects of one particular
tornado called the Sauk Rapids Tornado. As I looked at the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Based on this, the tornado was absolutely massive. Also, it had been reported that when the
tornado crossed the Mississippi...local witnesses said the river was swept dry ... (Douglas, Paul).
This tornado was really a force to be reckoned with. In the end, the Sauk Rapids tornado lasted
only about thirteen minutes, but devastatingly killed 72 people and injured more than 200 and
caused over $400,000 in damages. In 2015 dollars, that would be roughly $10.4 million dollars
(NWS Des Moines). All of this is why the Sauk Rapids tornado became known as the deadliest
tornado ever in Minnesota history.
Though the Sauk Rapids tornado destroyed the city of Sauk Rapids, the city was still able to
rebuild back to the community that they once were and become an even stronger city. Before the
tornado struck Sauk Rapids, the city was actually going through a period of growth. Many
buildings were being built such as a general store was built, then a hotel, and a large jail...new
courthouse was built... (Sauk Rapids Minnesota). Sauk Rapids was building to become a
successful city, but unfortunately, that wasn t able to happen because of the tornado. However, the
tornado actually helped teach Sauk Rapids a valuable lesson in terms of what materials buildings
should be built out of. A majority of the buildings, before the tornado had struck, in Sauk Rapids
were built using wood: The original businesses...a lot of them were wood. After the

The Influence Of Treading In Emily Dickinson s Poems
Emily Dickinson was an American poet who was born on December tenth, 1830. Emily
Dickinson lived a very secluded life and preferred to stay in her home in New England and she
even lived in isolation starting in the 1860s only seeing close family members ( Emily Dickinson ,
poets.org). Dickinson began to write while spending her days in her home reading. Her style of
writing and themes were influenced by seventeenth century English poetry( Emily Dickinson,
poets.org). Her puritan and religious upbringing also led to her different style of writing ( Emily
Dickinson , poets.org). Her poems were never published when she was alive, instead they were
found after her passing and published. When they found her poems after she passed they
discovered she had written around 1,800 poems ( Emily Dickinson , poets.org)! Most of her
poems are about death and some experts even believe that her poems are written in a specific order

The speaker believes that a part of her is dying when she realizes that she is going into madness.
The mourners are visualized as treading hard with heavy steps. The treading is counteracting the em
dashes in the stanza and that theme continues throughout the poem. Their treading represents the
pressures of life stomping on the speaker s mind. The treading is not just light walking it is hard
and forceful. With the pressure of the treading and the mourners , the speaker begins to spiral into
the realization of them self going mad their thoughts become jumbled up in madness. The second
stanza of the poem transitions to the mourners becoming silent and sitting uniformed in their spots.
But as the stanza progresses the drums beating down on the speaker. The drums are a
representation of outside forces of their life beating down on their mind. It shows that pressures of

want mine to change a bit by painting with some neutral color such as beige or gray. This would

Robotics Is An Sophisticated Type Of Technology
Robotics, an extremely sophisticated type of technology, comes in use for humans but unlikely fails

application of robots, as well as computer systems for their control, sensory feedback, and
information processing. These technologies contain automated machines that can take the place of
humans in dangerous environments or manufacturing processes, or resemble humans in appearance

type of motor that is responsible for moving or controlling the mechanism. It is worked by a
source of energy, usually electric current, hydraulic fluid pressure, or pneumatic pressure, and
translates that energy into motion. The use of robotics for microwaves impacts the society in
domestic situations. The robot fulfils its intended purpose, which is to assist operators with their
household requirements. The automated system saves time and increases productivity as it
follows a series of instructions given by the constructor. The buttons on the membrane keyboard
allows operators to modify and alter their requirements, which can be made for easier use. The
intelligence of this robotics technology leads to a major impact on society. There are over
billions of microwaves in the shops today, which are typically used to assist people with their
everyday life. When people want to warm foods, they do it through the use of this robot
technology. A microwave heats food by passing radiation through it specifically known as
microwave radiation. Microwaves can be known as a form of non ionizing electromagnetic
radiation that have a frequency higher than ordinary radio waves but the frequency is lower than
infrared light. Microwaves use radio waves at an exact set frequency to stir water molecules

Pressure/Volume of Air Full Lab Write Up
Introduction:
According to Boyle s Law, the volume of any given amount of gas held at a constant temperature
varies inversely with the applied pressure. In other words, when the pressure increases the volume
decreases. When pressure decreases, volume increases. This can be derived from the following
equation:
P1 V1=P2 V2
The common use of this equation is to predict how a change in pressure or volume will alter the
volume/pressure of the gas. Thus, the product of the initial volume and pressure is equal to the
product of pressure and volume after a change in either pressure or volume under constant
temperature.

Psychology Is The Scientific Study Of The Mind And Behavior
A Look into Psychology
Psychology is known to be the scientific study of the human s mind and behavior. Psychology is
not the study of extraordinary mind activity like paranormal, extrasensory perception (ESP),
astrology, nor phrenology. Psychology is theoretically constructed and uses a standard scientific
process to discover evidences of that human s behavior. Psychology also allows an individual to
give special assistance to a specific group of children who could have a difficult time in school
by determining their IQ. In this essay, I m going to describe a few details of how Psychology is
the science of the mind, what scientific methods that are used in Psychology, and many other
things involving Psychology like a person s intelligence (IQ) and a child s development
milestones. Psychology is important for helping people to development mentally. In the first

study of extraordinary mind activities like paranormal, extrasensory perception (ESP), astrology,

Papers On Dumb Drivers
Dumb Drivers At age 16, I have only been driving for 15 months, and I have only been licensed
for six of those few months. That s a mere half of a year. Some might say I am inexperienced, but
then why do I still seem to know more about driving than 75% of drivers on the road? Maybe it s
because I just took drivers ed, or maybe I ve just gotten a lot of practice. I m not saying my
driving skills are anything more than satisfactory; however, it appears to me that most other
drivers have skills far below average. I understand emergencies happen and people get distracted,
but that is no excuse for the poor driving quality I witness every day around my own
neighborhood. Why do our roads seem to be filled with subpar drivers? Perhaps the rules of the
road slowly slip their mind over the 10 40 years it s been since they have participated in a driving
program. Maybe people get careless as they grow older, believing their time on the road makes
them an expert driver, or maybe they no longer have the respect for the vehicle they are driving
and the responsibility that goes with it. Maybe that s why they will pull out so carelessly into the
road only to hit a new, less experienced driver.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Jim Crow Laws
Throughout the years of the 1900 s, segregation in the United States was strictly enforced due to
the specific laws held in place during this time. The Jim Crow laws, designed in 1877, highly
obligated the segregation between blacks and whites. These laws were designed to create separate
facilities for blacks and whites to use, all for the purpose of demonstrating that one race was
inferior towards the other (Woodward). Unfortunately, these laws resulted in a negative impact on
citizens and society, and later went on to affect different cultures such as Mexican Americans in the
state of California. After the Mexican American War, California was won over by the United States
from Mexico, declaring it a newfound state in 1848 (McCormick). Mexican American immigrants
flooded the state of California in the early 1920 s due to the immense boom in agriculture. These
immigrants were needed solely for labor purposes, increasing the immigration rates from Mexico to
the United States, causing racial tensions to arise between non Anglo Americans and Anglo
Americans. Due to the tensions between both races, discrimination among the non Anglo
Americans started to worsen, limiting their access to fair employment and a quality education
(McCormick). During this time, school segregation was taking its toll in specific areas in
California, due to the pressure Anglo residents were putting on the school systems. More Mexican

The authors Jacob and Wilhem Grimm let the readers imagine real life situations that people
believe they face every day. The metaphor that they use is God, Satan and Death; these are all
things that we are faced with in our daily lives. The story Godfather Death is told in 3rd person
omniscient. Whereas, this story comes down to choices, these choices determine their fate. The
father has 12 children that he can hardly feed and provide for, so the man is out in the street
searching for the right person to be his 13th child godfather. The man was approached by GOD,
I do not wish to have you for a godfather, said the man. You give to the rich, and let the poor
starve. The man was approached by Satan, Then I do not wish to have you for a godfather, said
the man. You deceive mankind and lead them astray. Then Death comes along, I am Death, who
makes everyone equal. You are the right one. You take away the rich as well as the poor, without
distinction. I will make your child rich and famous, for he who has me for a friend cannot fail (13).
In general, peoplegreed, selfishnessand desire for power always cause them to lose everything. What
good does love, money, status, and power do, if a man loses his life?

Cleansed is a play written by Sarah Kane and was performed at the Royal Court Theatre Downstairs
on 30th April 1998. It centres on a seemingly psychotic character named Tinker and the experiments
he carries out on the other characters; throughout the play he repeatedly tests them on their love for
each other. Kane uses this to explore a range of issues, including gender identity, grief and narcotics
addiction. Cleansed has a number of key themes that continuously surface throughout the text, such
as love, sex, human nature and torture and suffering. These subjects are most likely the reason that
Cleansed was categorised In Yer Face theatre .
In fact, all of Sarah Kane s plays were classed as work that fell under the In Yer Face Theatre
genre. This theatre style came about in the mid 90s and had a very short lifespan; it existed as a
pre 9/11 genre. Since the events of 9/11, like the world we live in, theatre has adapted into
something new. Texts that are classified as In Yer Face Theatre have one defining feature: they
push boundaries and shock the audience. Looking at the ideas that

Knight s Role In Warfare During The Middle Ages
A knight s role and the impact heavy cavalry had on warfare have greatly varied throughout the
period of the Middle Ages. Although knight s dominated the battlefield and had a huge cultural
value in society you cannot ignore the impact that technology has had on their role. These
technological advances such as the longbow, the introduction of light cavalry and developments
such as gunpowder and artillery, the tactical developments such as sieges and the general
organisation surrounding warfare resulted in knights declining in social value, status and
affectability as well as a more dramatic yet gradual metamorphosis into the heavily armoured tank
divisions in today s modern armies.

This is demonstrated mainly by the speed and manoeuvrability riding on horseback provided.
Speed could be converted into shock as the enemy if unaware of a knight s potential power ground
could be covered quickly before the enemy had a chance to provide a defence mechanism and
would have no option to surrender. This however was only evident in the early Middle Ages,
showing that heavy cavalry would not be the most dominant force throughout the entirety of the
Middle Ages. However this speed and manoeuvrability did not always result in the knight being the
dominant figure. The knight may have been dominant in the West where the terrain was favourable
and the heat moderate but when traveling to Jerusalem for the crusades they were less well suited
to endurance in a hot climate and clumsy and unmanoeuvrable making them ineffective and
vulnerable to the enemy. This shows how even though they may dominant warfare in Western
Europe they were too heavy to cover ground effectively and not as moveable as the lighter eastern
cavalry, which weighed approximately 700 to 900lbs to the Western 1,200 to

made the Constitution the way people know it today. Christopher and James Collier begin with
historical events that led up to Constitutional creation and a brief summation of the events that were
taking place in the country during that time frame. The background that they give provides a good
base for the information and allows the reader to see things through the eyes of someone living in
the time. During that period, there were many challenges facing America at the time that would

One of them being that there was very poor transportation routes and that adversely affected
communications. For example the authors quote The few interstate roads that existed were
frequently nothing more than mile upon mile of mud wallow, cut by hundreds of streams, creeks,
and rivers, most of which were unbridged, so they had to be forded, or crossed by ferry (Collier,
1986, p.14). As a result, due to a lack of this foundation it was very challenging and time
consuming for the citizens with travel and communication and diversity was usually unfamiliar to

1. Describe the basic features of electricity at a fundamental level.
Ans: Electricity is the movement of electrons. As long as electrons in an atom are balance and
revolve precisely in orbit around their sun or atom nucleus there is no electron flow or electric
current in a wire. These atoms are the smallest particle into which an element can be divided
without losing its property. A single atom consists of three basic components: a Proton, a Neutron
and an Electron. An atom is similar to a small solar system, so is the nucleus in the centre of an
atom. Protons and neutrons are contained within the nucleus. Electrons orbit around the nucleus
which could be similar to planets orbiting around the sun. As an electrician I will also be ... Show

Direct current may be obtained from alternating current supply by use of a current switching
arrangement called rectifier, which contains electronic elements or electromechanical elements
that allow current to flow only in one direction. DC maybe made into alternating current with an
inverter or a motor generator set. DC is commonly found in many low voltage applications
especially where these are powered by batteries, which can produce only Direct current or solar
power systems, since solar cells can produce only DC. Most automotive applications use DC
although the alternator is an AC device which uses a rectifier to produce DC. Many telephones
connect to a twisted pair of wires, and internally separate the AC component of the voltage
between the two wires (the audio signal) from the DC component of the voltage between the two
wires caused to power the phone. Although DC stands for direct current , DC often refers to
constant polarity . Under this definition, DC often voltages can vary in time, as seen in the raw
output of a rectifier or the fluctuating voice signal on a telephone.
5. Explain the effect of resistance in circuits.
Ans: Resistance is the hindrance to the flow of charge. An electron traveling through the wires and

Improvement Opportunity: The Define Phase The purpose of this project was to gain experience in quality improvement by working with an organization to identify a business problem, analyze the causes, develop an improvement plan, implement changes, and to verify the effectiveness of the solutions. For this project we had to keep scope in mind. This project had to follow certain criteria, such as: that it is a manageable project with a local organization, it can be completed within the time frame of the course, it has a direct impact on external customers, it is relatively simple, and that it is not something that is currently undergoing major changes. The company that our group has partnered with for this project is CVS Pharmacies. We looked into this company to see if there were any areas for improvement within the organization that would have an impact on external customers. Within this define stage is when we did exactly that, we defined the problem. One problem that we found within the CVS Pharmacy, that would be easy enough to handle given the scope of the project, concerned the stores current inventory (overstock, backstock) system. It seemed that currently there was no formalized process with regard to placing items in overstock, resulting in an unorganized and unconventional overstock area. This created a problem because it made it harder ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It could include prenatal care or outpatient monthly checkups with your doctor. It could also include hospital bills, doctor s fee, and medications. Some women who gave birth and have good insurance policies do not have to pay anything. It is important to choose the right kind of insurance policy that gives you more coverage at the most affordable price. 3) Considerations When choosing health insurance, you have to choose something that has maternity insurance. If you already have health insurance without pregnancy coverage, you can talk with your insurance provider and ask them what you can do about it. They can add maternity coverage to your insurance or you can shift to a different plan with maternity coverage. You have to apply for pregnancy insurance when you are still in the process of getting pregnant. It may be more difficult to get approval for your application if you are applying when you are already pregnant. Another consideration is to find affordable health insurance policies that require you to pay reasonable premiums but with good coverage. If you are employed in a good company, you do not have to worry about getting yourself health insurance with pregnancy coverage because the company is required to do this for their employees, but if you are self employed, you need to take care of these things ... • 7. Zeffirelli Vs Branagh Hamlet is one of Shakespeare s most well known and most frequently performed plays. Many people have enjoyed reading and watching hamlet, both on stage and theatrically. Directors often add different styles to their pieces to invoke different moods. These styles change as time progresses; predominant in the comparison between Franco Zeffirelli s and Kenneth Branaghs direction of William Shakespeares Hamletact 3 scene 1. Zeffirelli s interpretation of Shakespeare s Hamlet act 3 scene 1 is more effective than Branagh s interpretation. Zeffirelli centralizes the play around a dark setting and dark clothing style which puts emphasis on the sadness certain characters are facing. Whereas Branagh uses more vibrant colors in clothing style and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Branagh s use of setting is not as effective as other cinematic depictions of the play, as it does not fully enlighten the sad mood. Branagh s style of direction takes away the sad mood. To begin, Branagh uses a colorful setting to take away the emphasis on the surrounding sadness, while maintaining a sad mood. In Branagh s version his portrayal of the setting during the interaction between Hamlet and Ophelia captures the sad mood. Branagh captures Hamlets movement through an array of rare emotion as he takes in Ophelia s words. When Hamlet and Ophelia first see each other, happy music and warm light and bright setting create a light, triumphant mood that showcases their deep love. The statement I did love you once (3.1.14) is spoken with tears in his eyes that capture Hamlet s love. When Ophelia s returns the tokens Hamlet shows his feelings of betrayal and all of his emotions shift as he grapples at understanding. As Hamlet s anger rises, the music shifts to match it. This interpretation suggests that with deep love comes the ability to hurt each other deeply. Shortly after Ophelia s sorrowful speech helps aid in developing a sad mood. The use of setting is not as effective as other depiction of the scene yet it prevails in its intention of creating a sad mood. Next, the setting during Hamlet s soliloquy is what establishes a sad mood. Branagh s makes Hamlet speaks his soliloquy steadily in a large room filled with mirrors. Mirrors are often used to suggest self reflection and clarity. It is ironic Branagh s emotionally susceptible Hamlet is associated with an item of reflection and clarity. During this period many of the hard rock bands of before had broken up and only a few remained. The remaining bands changed their style of play even more, toward the heavy metal scene. This in turn allowed the creation of the punk metal genre and the development of the heavy metal scene. Within this new era several bands had changed their appearance along with their music. Kiss had removed their, famous, makeup and moved toward the pop/punk genre. Near the end of this era all of the surviving artists had either stayed with hard rock or jumped on the new, popular, heavy metal bandwagon. Much success in the workplace can be contributed to one s emotional intelligence (EQ) or their understanding of emotions in themselves and co workers which can use to form positive collegial relationships (Cherniss Exetin, 2006). The book Emotional Intelligence2.0 by Bradberry and Greaves (2009), effectively explains what Emotional Intelligence and provides useful strategies to improve one s EQ. However, while the book has a foundation in scientific study, it is not much more than a glorified self help book as it does not contain much of any scientific support. This, however, is the authors intention as they state that the single purpose of the book is to increase the reader s emotional intelligence. This critique will examine the scientific basis of the claims Bradberry and Greaves as a result of their research in emotional intelligence in addition to the validity of their EQ appraisal. In the poem We Wear the Maskby Paul Laurence Dunbarthe reader should learn that individuals feel the need to wear a mask to change their personality into the more ideal individual which surpasses their confidence, fear, insecurities, and emotions. This poem develops the realities about self image and how it makes individuals act in society. Initially, the poem opens with We wear the mask that grins and lies, it hides our cheeks and shades our eyes (Dunbar, 1 2). The mask presents the truthful and untruthful sides of individuals. The mask is also a work of craftiness as it forces the individual to appear happy, regardless of the pain they may be feeling beneath the surface. Individuals that struggle with themselves wear a mask to show everyone else that they are not struggling and have everything figured out. Just like being in pain With torn and bleeding hearts we smile (Dunbar, 3). Individuals force smiles on their faces to portray to others that they are happy no matter whats going on in their life. It was also the earliest example of a narrative report card. With the passage of compulsory attendance laws at the elementary level during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, the number of students entering high schools increased rapidly. Between 1870 and 1910 the number of public high schools in the United States increased from 500 to 10,000. As a result, subject area instruction in high schools became increasingly specific and student populations became more diverse. While elementary teachers continued to use written descriptions and narrative reports to document student learning, high school teachers began using percentages and other similar markings to certify students accomplishments in different subject areas. This was the beginning of the grading and reporting systems that exist today. The shift to percentage grading was gradual, and few American educators questioned it. The practice seemed a natural by product of the increased demands on high school teachers, who now faced classrooms with growing numbers of students. But in 1912 a study by two Wisconsin researchers seriously challenged the reliability of percentage grades as accurate indicators of students achievement. Desire for power played a major role in the collapse of the Republic because Caesar, the man who arguably began the Republic s downfall, marched on Rome because he wanted power. The second ideal that led to the Republic s collapse was greed and the power of money, for example bribing officials in Rome, Crassus shocking alliance with Caesar, and Pompey s strategy to fight Caesar during the first civil war. The last ideal that aided the downfall of the Republic was loyalty, specifically citizens loyalty to political leaders or military generals, loyalty between generals and their veterans, and loyalty between political leaders. ... Similar to lust for power, greed could be found within the Republic before its collapse. For example, patricians, aristocrats, would buy farmland from plebeians who were serving in the army, and they used the land to increase their wealth. Lastly, loyalty was viewed as an important aspect of the Republic, specifically loyalty to politicians, family, and the Republic s beliefs. The setting of the novel takes place after World War I, previously known has the The Great War. The characters express interesting reactions to topics common during their time period and illustrate their own struggles. Class structure and social hierarchy play key roles in the novel and has certain effects on the characters. The British people during that time valued social classas extremely vital. The people in the upper class love life and enjoy themselves, but ones in the lower class have a challenging time to move up in society. Woolf illustrates how the lower class basically looks up to the wealthier and more successful people. The people the main character, Clarissa, associates with herself are all in the same class or even higher up, for example, the prime minister attends her gathering. Other characters like Miss Kilman, who Clarissa despises, and Ellie Henderson are envious of Clarissa because they are lower then her in society. Coming here was a huge adjustment, but the town, people, and classes I have taken are amazing. The classes I took this semester, especially the U Course, had a very big impact on who I am as a person since I got to college. The class required me to reflect upon myself, making me realize how much I was changing throughout the course. I can now interpret how much I have learned about one s selfidentity, sustainability, and the four general education student learning outcomes. Throughout the U course, I was forced to ask myself who am i? and to reflect upon it in my writing. I was never certain on how to answer this question; it s tough and broad. As of now, if asked this question I would identify myself as a female who is open to anything life has to offer, is funny and social, but is an introvert as well. I believe, The way you understand the world now has changed from the way you understood the world as a child, and along with your changing perspective, your physical body, including your motor coordination and your physical abilities, have altered (Thia Wolf 2012). As a child, I was very closed minded, it was my way or no way. Now that i m older I see that i m open to more things due to my experiences throughout life; this is why I believe in the social/relational approaches to understanding the formation of identity. These theories suggest that we form our identity from past experiences with others. In my opinion, these theories are the most precise because one needs to experience with others to help identify themselves. Shared experiences inform yourself that you are similar or not to the others; this helps to understand one s self identity. The most change I have seen throughout the semester is in my Eco Identity. These past couple of months, I have gained a great amount of knowledgeon the topic of sustainability causing my eco identity to change drastically. These articles stood out, because while given a similar topic (lesbians) they both possessed very different, yet similar arguments. I found this interesting because it is a prime example of societies different views on controversial topics. Cheryl and June s articles contain many differences, similarities and information to be reflected on. Cheryl s main arguments are that everyone who loves women (whether its romantically, sexually, platonically, etc.) is a feminist and lesbians are all part of a rebellion. She states, No matter how a woman lives out her lesbianism she has rebelled against becoming the slave master s concubine, viz., the male dependent female, the female heterosexual. This gives evidence towards her argument that lesbians, regardless their intentions are resisting from the constructs that society wants them to adhere to. June would disagree with this statement, arguing that lesbians aren t solely out to rebel but are just pursuing their lives freely. Cheryl also points out that there is no one sort of lesbian and that whether you consider yourself a full blown lesbian or bisexual it doesn t change the fact that you are resisting against the heterosexual society. This being true, Cheryl Clarke also disagrees with the idea of bisexuality; whereas June Jordan identifies as bisexual. Following along with this Cheryl ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Several of the most important techniques is to fully acknowledge the problem by gathering all of the facts, using problem solving methods, and appealing to professional codes and standards of practice. In this paper, the following scenario will be addressed and analyzed: Professor Xavier is a tenured professor of engineeringwho teaches at a large institution as a licensed professional engineer. One of his students, Jean Grey, tells him that during an exam for another class taught by Professor Osterman, a classmate named Scott Summers apparently used his phone to take a picture of an exam question and sent it to someone. Jean also tells Professor Xavier that she had informed Professor Osterman about Scott, and then Professor Osterman spoke to Scott about his actions. However, Scott did not face any further consequences resulting from his behavior. Given this situation, the actions of each person will be discussed using ethical theories, along with the application of professional codes of ethicsto the responses of Professor Xavier and Professor Osterman, as well as applying the line drawing method to discuss the ethical obligations of both professors. It is essential to point out the actions of each individual in the scenario mentioned and discuss the ethics each person exhibits. The church considered the use of instruments as profane. There was no musical notation as songs were passed along from person to person by rote memorization. In the secular world, instruments were used at times by jongleurs, trouveres, and minnesingers. Some of those early instruments include the vielle, harp, psaltery, flute, shawm, bagpipe, and drums (Thomas et al.). A basso continuo was the early rhythm section in the Baroque period which included a keyboard instrument such as harpsichord, organ or clavichord and a bass instrument such as cello, violone, or bassoon. Figured bass notation was written with interval numbers above a bass line to tell the keyboardist what intervals to use to build the chords. Bach s Flute Sonata in C Major, BWV 1033 is an example of this technique with one melodic line on the top staff with a single bass line with numbers underneath in the second bass clef staff. ( While reading Beowulf, many have a series of questions throughout the epic poem. On of the many questions is about what motivates the epic hero of the tale to danger his life. Beowulf lives in Geatland and shows up in the land of the Danes and asks to fight a monster to help them. He ends up fighting the monster s mother as well as a deadly dragon. What motivates Beowulfto go after these three monsters? Beowulf goes after the monsters because of Anglo Saxon codes, for vengeance, and fame. He says here that the reason that Beowulf goes to kill the dragon is out of devotion to his people and to become more famous. Beowulf makes the ultimate sacrifice to save his people. To conclude, Beowulf s motivations are fame, obligation, and vengeance. Without the ideals of the Anglo Saxon times, Beowulf would have almost no reason to fight Grendel. The Jim Crow laws, designed in 1877, highly obligated the segregation between blacks and whites. These laws were designed to create separate facilities for blacks and whites to use, all for the purpose of demonstrating that one race was inferior towards the other (Woodward). Unfortunately, these laws resulted in a negative impact on citizens and society, and later went on to affect different cultures such as Mexican Americans in the state of California. After the Mexican American War, California was won over by the United States from Mexico, declaring it a newfound state in 1848 (McCormick). Mexican American immigrants flooded the state of California in the early 1920 s due to the immense boom in agriculture. These immigrants were needed solely for labor purposes, increasing the immigration rates from Mexico to the United States, causing racial tensions to arise between non Anglo Americans and Anglo Americans. Due to the tensions between both races, discrimination among the non Anglo Americans started to worsen, limiting their access to fair employment and a quality education (McCormick). It centres on a seemingly psychotic character named Tinker and the experiments he carries out on the other characters; throughout the play he repeatedly tests them on their love for each other. Kane uses this to explore a range of issues, including gender identity, grief and narcotics addiction. Cleansed has a number of key themes that continuously surface throughout the text, such as love, sex, human nature and torture and suffering. These subjects are most likely the reason that Cleansed was categorised In Yer Face theatre . In fact, all of Sarah Kane s plays were classed as work that fell under the In Yer Face Theatre genre. This theatre style came about in the mid 90s and had a very short lifespan; it existed as a pre 9/11 genre. Since the events of 9/11, like the world we live in, theatre has adapted into something new. Texts that are classified as In Yer Face Theatre have one defining feature: they push boundaries and shock the audience. Looking at the ideas that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 54. Knight s Role In Warfare During The Middle Ages A knight s role and the impact heavy cavalry had on warfare have greatly varied throughout the period of the Middle Ages. Although knight s dominated the battlefield and had a huge cultural value in society you cannot ignore the impact that technology has had on their role. These technological advances such as the longbow, the introduction of light cavalry and developments such as gunpowder and artillery, the tactical developments such as sieges and the general organisation surrounding warfare resulted in knights declining in social value, status and affectability as well as a more dramatic yet gradual metamorphosis into the heavily armoured tank divisions in today s modern armies. It has always been a greatly contested debate as to when the Middle ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is demonstrated mainly by the speed and manoeuvrability riding on horseback provided. Speed could be converted into shock as the enemy if unaware of a knight s potential power ground could be covered quickly before the enemy had a chance to provide a defence mechanism and would have no option to surrender. This however was only evident in the early Middle Ages, showing that heavy cavalry would not be the most dominant force throughout the entirety of the Middle Ages. However this speed and manoeuvrability did not always result in the knight being the dominant figure. The knight may have been dominant in the West where the terrain was favourable and the heat moderate but when traveling to Jerusalem for the crusades they were less well suited to endurance in a hot climate and clumsy and unmanoeuvrable making them ineffective and vulnerable to the enemy. This shows how even though they may dominant warfare in Western Europe they were too heavy to cover ground effectively and not as moveable as the lighter eastern cavalry, which weighed approximately 700 to 900lbs to the Western 1,200 to ... • 55. Decision Of Philadelphia The Constitutional Convention Of... In the book Decision in Philadelphia the Constitutional Convention of 1787 by Christopher Collier and James Collier present an exclusive glance at the creating of the Constitution and the events that made the Constitution the way people know it today. Christopher and James Collier begin with historical events that led up to Constitutional creation and a brief summation of the events that were taking place in the country during that time frame. The background that they give provides a good base for the information and allows the reader to see things through the eyes of someone living in the time. During that period, there were many challenges facing America at the time that would have collision on the constitutional convention and the outcomes that would shape the country. One of them being that there was very poor transportation routes and that adversely affected communications. For example the authors quote The few interstate roads that existed were frequently nothing more than mile upon mile of mud wallow, cut by hundreds of streams, creeks, and rivers, most of which were unbridged, so they had to be forded, or crossed by ferry (Collier, 1986, p.14). As a result, due to a lack of this foundation it was very challenging and time consuming for the citizens with travel and communication and diversity was usually unfamiliar to people. At the time people also faced challenges such as the country was divided by religion, ethics, language differences, and majorly economic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 56. Essay about Btec L3 1. Describe the basic features of electricity at a fundamental level. Ans: Electricity is the movement of electrons. As long as electrons in an atom are balance and revolve precisely in orbit around their sun or atom nucleus there is no electron flow or electric current in a wire. These atoms are the smallest particle into which an element can be divided without losing its property. A single atom consists of three basic components: a Proton, a Neutron and an Electron. An atom is similar to a small solar system, so is the nucleus in the centre of an atom. Protons and neutrons are contained within the nucleus. Electrons orbit around the nucleus which could be similar to planets orbiting around the sun. As an electrician I will also be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Direct current may be obtained from alternating current supply by use of a current switching arrangement called rectifier, which contains electronic elements or electromechanical elements that allow current to flow only in one direction. DC maybe made into alternating current with an inverter or a motor generator set. DC is commonly found in many low voltage applications especially where these are powered by batteries, which can produce only Direct current or solar power systems, since solar cells can produce only DC. Most automotive applications use DC although the alternator is an AC device which uses a rectifier to produce DC. Many telephones connect to a twisted pair of wires, and internally separate the AC component of the voltage between the two wires (the audio signal) from the DC component of the voltage between the two wires caused to power the phone. Although DC stands for direct current , DC often refers to constant polarity . Under this definition, DC often voltages can vary in time, as seen in the raw output of a rectifier or the fluctuating voice signal on a telephone. 5. Explain the effect of resistance in circuits. Ans: Resistance is the hindrance to the flow of charge. An electron traveling through the wires and loads of the external circuit encounter resistance for an electron, the journey from terminal to terminal is not a direct ...
