Essay on Art Throughout History
Introduction Any discussion of the role of texts and art works in changing the status of art and artists,
wherever the location, has no option but to place art in an historical, sociopolitical and cultural
context. Art cannot be taken as an entity in and of itself, or be placed outside of the above frameworks.
The scope of this discussion cannot feasibly include a thorough history of European art from the
decline of the Roman Empire to the rise of the artist in Renaissance Italy and beyond the Alps. It will,
however, attempt to condense certain points which will allow some historical context to lead it into an
understanding of the roles of texts and works of art in changing the status of art and the artist. Many
questions arise, not least ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The discussion will focus upon the essential texts of Giorgio Vasari (1511 74) in the elevation of the
artist from a lowly crafts member of the Guilds of St Luke via patronage by the Church and rich
Italian city states to celebrated innovator of cultural aesthetics and society figurehead such as
Michelangelo Buenarroti, the mentor of Vasari whom he saw as the pinnacle of artistic practice, one
whom it is ubiquitously claimed excelled even the art of the ancient Greeks. It will also briefly discuss
other notable artists who wrote during the period of the Renaissance. Historical context Since the time
of the Greeks (artists held in great reverence in the Renaissance such as Apelles and Zeuxis 5th 4th

A Community Mental Health Team While Working With A Client...
Introduction
This literature review and research proposal was motivated following a practice placement with a
Community Mental Health Team while working with a client with Generalised Anxiety Disorder
(GAD). GAD is a long term condition that causes someone to feel anxious about a wide range of
situations and issues, rather than one specific event. GAD is a common mental health condition
affecting 1 in every 25 people in the United Kingdom, its prevalence is slightly more among women
than men and individuals between the ages of 35 and 55 (NHSChoices, 2014). People with GAD feel
anxious most days and often struggle to remember the last time they felt relaxed (NHSChoices, 2014).
Feeling anxious is a normal response to stressful experiences, however when anxiety is prolonged,
inappropriate, and/or overwhelming to the point that it impacts on functioning, it becomes a
pathological disorder (Davis, 2011). The anxiety, worry, or physical symptoms cause significant
distress or impairment in social, occupational, or other important areas of functioning (APA, 2000).
Studies have shown that GAD is more impairing than other anxiety disorders (Hoffmann et al., 2009);
and people afflicted with GAD have reported significantly less satisfaction with their quality of life in
particular in the domains of self esteem, goals and values, money, work, play, learning, creativity,
friends and family (Henning et al., 2007). Thus GAD has a disabling impact on an individual s
occupation performance

4th Amendment Essay
All Americans are entitled to their rights. The Fourth Amendment states that we the people have to
deny search and seizures from law enforcement without a warrant. The fourth amendment generally
prohibits police from entering a home without a warrant unless the circumstances fit an established
exception to the warrant requirement. According to the book The Constitution: Our Written Legacy by
Joseph A. Melusky, the Fourth Amendment gives the right of the people to be secure in their person,
houses, papers, and effects against unreasonable searches and seizures. Although we are entitled to
these rights, police sometimes use and abuse their authority. In many cases, the Fourth Amendment
has helped prove the innocence of one s actions. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the court case United States v. Ludwig the police took a narcotics dog through a parking lot in
hopes that he would find the scent of drugs (www.loompanatics.com). Since a motorized vehicle has
the ability to be driven far away and evidence can be removed, police believe that under certain
circumstances they can search a car without a warrant. A dog alerted the cops by letting them know he
smelled the scent of narcotics. They asked the suspect if they can search his truck. The suspect didn t
give them consent he was against the search but they still took the keys from him to search the truck.
They found drugs in his trunk and a couple of large bags of marijuana. The police didn t have a
warrant nor did they have permission from the suspect to search his truck. The Supreme Court first
ruled that it was unlawful to search his car without a warrant and no legit reasoning for the search.
Then the court ruled that it was lawful because the officers said that the dog alerting them, were their
reasoning for a warrantless search. The cops also stated in court that the reason they took the suspect s
keys is because if they have didn t, there was a possibility that he could drive off and get rid off the
drugs which would be their loss of evidence. This case shows how citizens have certain rights when it
comes to their vehicles but they can still be violated in a sense. The next letter of the acronym is for
illegal consent

The Leadership Theory Of Leadership
The leadership module is a very wide and dynamic one. There are several definitions for leadership as
Stodgill (1974, p12) states. Seeman (1960, p3) defines leadership as the acts of a person which
influence other people towards a shared direction. Influence is a vital aspect of leadership as the
person who leads should have the charisma and the ability to influence others, otherwise leadership is
non existent. However that does not mean that leaders are better people than their followers. Hollander
(1992, p7) explains that leaders and followers should be understood in relation to each other. Leaders
and followers both have a mutual purpose and attention to common goals.
For this reflection, we were assigned two presentations at the start ... Show more content on

The group I was in was with Gary, Suwin and Matt, the same members from the previous term.
Firstly, we looked pseudo transformational leadership style. This leadership method is where leaders
violate the ethical requirements of transformational leadership and the leaders have certain
characteristics such as being self consumed, exploitive and power orientated with values that they
believed should be followed (Bass and Steidlmeier 1999). Bass and Steidlmeier (1999, p163) also
suggest that leaders who adopt this method are more focused on their own interests rather than the
interests of others. Barling et al. (2008), Christie et al. (2011), Eisenbeiß and Boerner (2013) and Kark
et al. (2003) believe that pseudo transformational leadership style exploit transformational behaviors
to encourage their followers unconditional loyalty to and dependence on the leader. However none of
us from the group believed that we should adopt this approach due to the unethical morals of this
approach. Therefore we moved on to the next leadership style which was the transformational
leadership. Downton (1973) was the one who came with this term. Transformational leadership is
when the leader engages with others and helps to raise motivation and morality for both leader and
followers. Burns (2003) explains that transformational leadership is related to morale development in
2 ways; the first way is when leaders incorporate 3

The Rime Of The Ancyent Marinere Analysis
In the poem The Rime of the Ancyent Marinere, the Marinere attains a change of mindset in regards to
the sea snakes he encounters. This moment in the poem is larger than just the liking or disliking of an
animal; it shows a larger change within the Marinere. Through exploring the concept of seeing in
Carlos Castaneda s novel A Separate Reality, and applying it to the beloved Marinere, it is discovered
that the Marinere completes the act of seeing. Being able to see allows the Marinere this shift in
perspective and the gain of respect his has for all beings by the end of the piece.
The Marinere s negative view of the sea snakes are an extension of his perception in regards to his
unfavorable situation. The Mariner s first view of the sea snakes is one filled with contempt, which is
carried by his overall feelings of despair and separation. The beginning of section four of The Rime of
The Ancyent Marinere proceeds the death of the crew. The Mariner relates how he is alone and his
soul is in agony (IV, 224 227). He furthers his separation from the beings around describing the dead
men that lay on the deck as beautiful (IV, 228 229). The living sea snakes as a million million slimy
things, and then himself as simply living with them without a secondary descriptor (IV, 229 231). His
lack of description for himself is another separation between the Marinere and his surrounds; the cause
of his worsening outlook and perception of his situation.
The Marinere s situation is not changed, however his perception changes and because of a new and
brighter outlook he gains in cognizance with the sea snakes. The Marinere s change in perception
begins when moonlight bathes the ocean and in return everything encaptured in it. Again the Mariner
takes a special interest in the sea snakes for they live on as he does (IV, 230 231). At this point in the
poem the sea snakes are now happy living things (IV, 274). The Marinere feels a sense of love towards
them and blesses them without his conscious awareness (IV, 276 277). The Marinere simultaneously
releases the guilt of the albatross that has been hung around his neck, to quote: The self same moment
I could pray/ And from my neck so free/ The Albatross fell off, and

The Bean Trees by Barbara Kingsolver
Birds are a personal symbol for Turtle s development. Throughout the novel, birds are tied to Turtle
and major events in her life. Turtle makes her first sound when the car stops suddenly to avoid a
family of quail. I slammed on the brakes and we all pitched forward... I think that sound was a laugh
...In the road up ahead there was a quail, the type that has one big feather spronging out the front of its
head like a forties model ladies hat. We could just make out that she was dithering back and forth in
the road, and then we gradually could see that there were a couple dozen babies running around her
every which way (Kingsolver 106 107). Turtle and Taylor have become comfortable as a family and
Turtle has recovered from her previous trauma to the point that she makes audible noises and
expresses herself. Just as the family of Taylor and Turtle has brought joy to the lives of Lou Ann,
Mattie, Esperanza and Estevan, this disruptive family of birds bring joy and laughter to Taylor and
Turtle. When Taylor takes Turtle to the doctor and learns the extent of Turtle s abuse, she sees a bird
that has made its nest inside a cactus. I looked through the bones to the garden on the other side. There
was a cactus with bushy arms and a coat of yellow spines as thick as fur. A bird had built her nest in it.
In and out she flew among the horrible spiny branches, never once hesitating. You just couldn t
imagine how she d made a home in there (Kingsolver 137 138). Just as the bird has

PESTLE Analysis on Tesco
Therefore, by discussing the environmental factors of PESTLE , in my personal opinion, I strongly
believe that the Political , the Economic and the Legal environments have the most impact on Tesco as
it operates internationally, in the United Kingdom and within 12 markets across Asia and Europe. For
this very reason it very important to consider all possible, political, economic and legal structures,
impacts and outcomes which might affect the overall success of the company as they play a major role
in relation to one another.
When looking at the political factors for Tesco, and, as it operates in a globalized environment with
locations across the world, the company s performance is extremely influenced by the political and
legislative functions of each country. In terms of legislations under employment, the government
really encourages retailers to provide work place opportunities from, flexible, lower paid, local based
jobs to highly skilled, paid, and centrally located jobs (Balchin, 1994) to meet certain demands
relating to students, senior citizens and working parents. The company understands that while being in
the retail industry, it has a large impact on individuals and the work place (the development of new
stores may often be seen as a conflict to other retail sectors due to the fact that the traditional stores go
out of business or are forced to cut certain cost in order to being able to compete) as being a
fundamentally local and labour intensive sector.

Alcoholism Addiction Core
Alcoholism/Addiction Core Essay
Alcoholism is a major medical problem in today s society. Nearly everywhere you go, serves alcohol.
From the restaurants you eat at, to grocery stores, to gas stations and even places one would go for
entertainment. Alcohol has been around since biblical times and the abuse of it grows as time goes on.
For this exact reason, we are going to compare the prevalence of alcoholism and discuss other factors
about it in the following three different countries: The United States, Germany and Italy.
Before we go any further, lets learn a little bit more about alcoholism. According to Webster s New
World Dictionary, Alcoholism is the habitual or compulsive consumption of alcoholic liquor to excess.

Personally, I do not believe that taking medication will cure the problem. There needs to be a
substitution and accountability as to why the person should give their problem up. A lot of alcoholism
stems from an event or life problem the person cannot overcome. The individual has to want to do it
for themselves or someone else in their life. Step one would be counseling. Before curing a disease,
you must know what is causing it. Then, they need a challenge and a reason why they should stop.

Amidst the conflict and aggression of war in our current day, humans have regularly put themselves
on the brink of self destruction. Atomic bombs, chemical warfare, and traditional battle have caused
the human race to slaughter innocent citizens and break valuable international alliances; therefore,
destroying each other senselessly. This dilemma appears frequently in modern literature as we witness
the aftermath of mankind s self destruction. A theme laced through this literature is that humans will
face the consequences of their oblivious actions. This theme appears in Ray Bradbury s There Will

At a young age, Williams often skipped school to avoid being bullied.
He endured the teasing not only from the other children there, but from teachers as well. They mocked

Wound Care Education
Wound Care Education
Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to identify a patient health issue that would benefit from patient
education. During the clinical rotation at Jackson South the group identified a need in wound care
especially for patients with other underlying health issues such as diabetes. A large percentage of
patients had wounds that would require patients to properly care for them once discharged. The group
identified a lack of patient knowledge on how to care for these wounds and decided to develop a
patient education pamphlet to teach patients how to care for wounds while not in a hospital setting.
The group identified one particular patient that had insufficient knowledge in self care.

circulation, it is important that he wears loose shoes and shoes that protect the toes from friction and

walk a round, it is important for his daughter to turn him ever 2 hours to avoid pressure ulcers from

pain, or odor, the wound may be infected. It is essential that J.G. and his daughter know what signs
may indicate infection and that they call their health care provider if infection is suspected. If infection
develops it can have a great impact on the wound healing process and can lead to hospitalization
(Grothie amp; Ousey, 2014). This can lead to chronic wounds. Chronic wounds are slow to heal and
take over 6 weeks. Chronic wounds might need a referral to a wound clinic. A wound clinic will help
the patient develop a healing plan and monitor the size and progress of the wound. In part of patient
education it is important to refer to additional resources outside of the hospital setting (Heller, 2014).
The ultimate goal for J.G. and his daughter is

Deaf People Myth
The first myth that I chose would be that Deaf people cannot contribute to society. Some pieces of
literature that we have read or watched would be the civil war story, Chapter three The camera as
Printing Press, the ABC Story, as well as Hero in ASL. The Civil war story dispels this myth because
it shows the conservation of history; it takes us back in time to the civil war. This story is considered a
piece of history and a Deaf person provided it, this little piece of history will forever be passed on. I
feel that chapter three was a very important chapter throughout this unit. This chapter not only showed

wanted to cure them. We also learned in class that many Deaf students got sterilized in school without
any notice. We watched the PBS Film Through Deaf eyes and saw how all Deaf people in the film
functioned throughout society like everyone else, especially on having and taking care of their
children. Another film we watched was a YouTube video called Visual Alerts, in this video, it showed,
how Deaf people knew what was going on with the use of flashing lights or vibrations. In the video it
showed how a crying baby got the mother the attention of the Deaf mother, the mother would carry a

Distributed Manufacturing And Capacity Planning
DISTRIBUTED MANUFACTURING AND CAPACITY PLANNING
DEFINITION: It is a decentralized manufacturing practiced by an organization using a geographically
network manufacturing facilities which are coordinate using Information Technology. We can also say
that making parts at different part of world and using supply chain management concepts to bring all
different part at a particular place for the final production. This phenomenon is known as Distributed
Manufacturing. INTRODUCTION: Today, the ability to rapidly adjust production and distribution in
response to change in customer demand is viewed as a strategic challenge. Increase in product variety
is a main reason for the distributed manufacturing. The ability is to create value at different location
via manufacturing. Immense rise in technology has allowed companies a decentralized and
geographically distribution manufacturing. Manufacturing has faced a significant change during the
last year, they have moved from local economy towards global and competitive economy, with market
demanding for high customized products of high quality at lower cost with different product variety.
DIFFERENT CONCEPTS FOR PRODUCTION AND DISTRIBUTION NETWORK:
In centralized production a product is manufactured at only one location or through a chain of single

According to Duara, From a historian s perspective, decolonization was one of the most important
developments of the twentieth century because it turned the world into the stage of history. Therefore,
it is of no surprise that much historical research has been devoted to this phenomenon; and the various
nuances among the decolonization processes undergone by the various Southeast Asian countries have
been of interest. For the purpose of this essay, I shall define ‘decolonization as the process whereby
colonial powers transferred institutional and legal control over their territories and dependencies to

second salient point of dissimilarity when comparing Singapore s decolonization process with that of
her neighbours is the matter of whether a mass based indigenous nationalist movement had emerged
on the Singapore political landscape before WWII; and even if it did after the war, Albert Lau argues
that commentators are still not agreed about its efficacy in ending British rule in Singapore . The lack
of this movement can be gleaned from the stances the various spectrums of Singaporean society took:
the Indian community remained politically quiescent throughout most of the interwar years, and few

Huma Human Factors Or Ergonomics
Introduction When we think of user experience we think of it as how a person interacts with a product
but in fact it we should think deeper about how and why a product makes us feel the way it does. User
experience can be defined as the overall experience of a person using a product such as a website or
computer application, especially in terms of how easy or pleasing it is to use . For a company user
experience is at the forefront in why a product is being designed and manufacture in such a way. In
order to produce an exemplary user experience you must meet the exact needs of the customer. For a
company to achieve this with a product they have to give the customer much more than simply what
they were looking for. A product can achieve a high quality user experience by compiling the multiple

In all epics, there exists a hero that possesses specific traits and core values to follow the culture of a
time period. Most works show hero figures looking up to some type of higher authority figure for
guidance. Both Beowulf and Paradise Lost reference Christianity and the idea of depending on God,
however, the basis of heroism is fundamentally different in each story. Beowulf is an Anglo Saxon
epic whereas Paradise Lost is a completely Christian epic poem. Both works differ in their
interpretations of morals and conflict resolution. Beowulf upholds all of the traits required of
traditional epic heroes: wisdom, strength, courage, honor, honesty, and strong leadership. He

General Description of Edwards SAPIEN XT Transcatheter Heart
Valve.
Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), or Transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI), is a
relatively new surgical procedure to combat aortic stenosis. When the aortic valve gets occluded from
a congenital defect, or damage from
calcium or scarring ,1 blood cannot flow through the valve efficiently. This leads to decreased
availability of oxygenated blood to peripheral tissues, and can be harmful or even fatal to patients.
When the malformations of the valve reach a critical point in which the patient s health will be
significantly affected by the lack of proper blood flow,
TAVR is an effective choice to combat stenosis. According to a study done by Samir
Kapadia, MD, TF TAVR (trans femoral transcatheter aortic valve replacement) exhibits a 95.7 percent
success rate. Thirty day mortality is limited to 0.4 percent, and stroke rate exhibited a 1.6 percent
incidence rate. Follow ups after one year showed a mortality rate and stroke rate of 17.5 percent and
3.5 percent, respectively.2 This data implies that while TAVR is effective, the procedure still has room
to improve. The Edwards SAPIEN

The Disaster Management Stages Of Disaster
Disasters are categorized as natural, man made, or a combination of the two. For this paper, I will
identify a natural or man made disaster that are currently brandishing in the world and are providing
news headlines or happening within my very community. I will describe the various characteristics of
the disaster chosen and apply the disaster management stages.
Current Natural or Man Made Disaster
The current natural disaster I will be discussing pertains to the flooding in Houston, Texas. The initial
flooding occurred on April 18, 2016 afflicting nine counties in and around Houston, placing them in a
state of disaster. Seven lives have been taken as a result of the immense flooding. 1,000 homes have
been flooded, as well as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Preventability measures are taken to prepare for disasters that are known risk for happening. Although
not all disastrous events can be prevented initially, steps can be taken to reduce the impact and after
effects when they do occur. For instance, with the Houston flood, numerous reservoirs were
constructed to help control some overflow of some 67 billion gallons of water. Imminence coincides
with predictability in most cases and also helps the planning of prevention and control when it can be
implemented. Weather forecasters can be detrimental when it comes to predicting a flood as this can
predict expected rainfall duration and amounts. The scope and number of casualties is usually tallied
during and after a disastrous event as the baseline is always zero prior to the event happening. This
specific criteria represents the number of people displaced, injured or killed per event happening.
Intensity is typically measured before an event to help garner some sort of ability to prepare for an
expected incoming crisis. Intensity can also be measured during a disaster to help foretell fatality rates
and also overall damage incurrence.
Application of Disaster Management Stages
Prevention, preparation and planning, responsiveness, and recovery are all the stages of managing a
disaster. Prevention is the first stage in disaster management. This stage occurs before a disaster takes
place and identifies possible risks.

The Honor Tug Of War
The Honor Tug of War In The First Part of King Henry IV, Shakespeare integrates the concept of
honor throughout the whole play. Honor is often thought of as a symbol that signifies approval or
distinction, but it is how one embodies this honor that varies in the play. Certain characters are so
fixated with honor that they forget about the other aspects of their life, in direct contrast other
characters have no belief in honor and only care about self preservation. Shakespeare uses characters
like this to illustrate how the positive traits can be contained in one man who embodies the truest form
of honor, this being Prince Hal. By comparing Hotspur and Falstaff s opposing views of honor,
Shakespeare exposes that the Prince has the beneficial traits of the two, therefore making him the
symbol of rational and noble honor. The ballad A lamentable Ditty composed upon the Death of
Robert Lord Devereux, late Earle of Essex, who was be headed in the Tower of London, on
Ashwenesday in the morning, 1600.To the tune of Welladay illustrates how honor was viewed in the
Renaissance through the story telling of a recently passed on Lord. The fourth stanza of the ballad
explains how Robert Lord Devereux achieved his honor on the battlefield by stating All men that is
and was, / evermore still: / One day as it was soone, / in honour of our Queene, / Such deeds hath nere
bin seene, / as he did doe. (Pepys 27 32). This quote demonstrates that Devereux completed tasks on
the battlefield

Hurricane Intervention Paper
South Florida is the southernmost part of the state of Florida and is one of three (3) commonly used
directional regions, the others being central and north Florida. South Florida includes the densely
populated areas of Miami, Florida Keys, among others. Florida and by extension the United States,
have experienced hurricanes dating back to 1900 with Hurricane Galveston and has recorded a myriad
of devastating hurricanes in its history. Hurricanes are not a new phenomenon to South Florida, with
the first devastation occurring in September 1919 killing at least eight hundred (800) people in Key
West. The most recent record was that of Hurricane Andrew in 1992, which was responsible for
twenty three (23) deaths in the United States and $25 billion in damages in South Florida. Despite
South Florida s historical trend, the region has not experienced a major storm in ten (10) years and the
community may be ill prepared to coordinate efforts against a natural disaster.

4 to the Model of Risk Perception Risk Reduction Behavior process as postulated by Bennett and
Murphy (1997), efficient and effective disaster preparedness is dependent on risk perception, self
efficacy and the social environment (attitudes and subjective norms). Most often people are of the
opinion that they are not at risk for disasters placing themselves and their families in imminent danger.
This project will outline the design of an intervention for hurricane preparedness in the City of North
Miami with all components of this intervention based on behavioral theories to motivate change. The
City of North Miami has been fortunate enough not to have withstood a hurricane or any natural
disaster that has caused significant loss of lives, injury and damage to properties. However, with the
unpredictable nature of hurricanes, there has to be an active plan to get citizens aware of their risks,
knowledgeable about preparedness and what to do in such

Home Ownership By Millennials
Figures lie and liars figure is a quote that means people can turn numbers around to suit their
agenda/purposes. Absolute salaries and/or prices may be higher today than in 1997 but that statement
does not specify whether it takes into account inflation, paying a larger percentage of health insurance
costs or the decrease in other benefits like relocation expenses and tuition reimbursement. So,
assuming the statement to be true, is it accurate?
The data supporting a slow adoption rate for home ownership by Millennials may be due to financial
factors such as increased student loan debt upon graduation or inability to find higher wage jobs to
meet debt to income ratios or non financial factors such as job mobility, the ability and ... Show more

The alternative is to go to a sub prime lender offering high interest rates.
Home prices are skyrocketing. It s a seller s market. With higher home prices come higher down
payments and higher mortgages. It almost requires a two person income to afford a home. Entering
into a legal mortgage contract with someone who is not a significant other is dangerous. With the
prevalence of divorce, even buying a home with a life partner is risky business. The partnership
deteriorates and there goes the home because one income can t support the debt.
Assuming Millennials can overcome the financial factors working against home ownership, then they
must look at the non financial factors which are equally as rough to navigate. Start with job mobility.
If a Millennial is lucky enough to find a well paying job that will support student loan debts and a
mortgage, the job is likely non entry level within an organization. The job may require frequent travel
which would decrease time available to maintain one s house. The job may require relocation which
can be costly if the company is not picking up the cost (and fewer companies are these days).
Additionally, technology is creating a more mobile work environment meaning employees don t
necessarily have to live near their places of employments any more. Work today from your timeshare
in Florida and tomorrow from your parents spare bedroom. Mobility makes it almost silly for

Similarities Between Bend It Like Beckham And Slumdog...
Bend it Like Beckham and Slumdog Millionaire have given me very strong impressions of Indian
people and culture.
Bend it Like Beckham showed me a lot about modern Indian culture, specifically Indians living in
England. In this film, Jess s Sikh family is very religious. Jess s sister; Pinky s wedding was a great
example of modern India. You can see the celebrations, the food and the clothing. You can always see
the family talking to the painting of Guru Nanak/Babaji and their traditional Indian greetings. Their
one goal in life is to have their daughters prepared and ready for marriage. They have expectations to
live up to, so they did not like the idea of Jess playing soccer.

Exploitation of women and children is also shown in this film. Once again, it is something I knew was
there but I didn t realise how bad and how much of it there really is. The blinding scene was definitely
one that stayed in my mind. The fact that somebody would purposely take away somebody s vital
senses, and blind somebody, much less a child, for their own benefit, shocked me to the core. What s
even more scary for me is this is based on what actually happens in India. Turning children into
beggars, making women into prostitutes is a normal regular thing. This shocks me so much because of
my values. To me, children and women deserve to live a normal happy life. For children, they deserve
a happy, loving childhood and to have a great future. I think because I was raised in these
circumstances that I find it difficult to imagine any other child to not have the same benefits. For
women, they should have the same opportunities and lifestyle choices as men. Not to be turned into
what Latika was, somebody forced to get married to somebody she didn t love and be used for sex and
to be a servant for that man. It s simply not

Symbolism In The Scarlet Letter
Without any prior knowledge to the meaning or label of a scarlet letter , readers can assume it has a
dark connotation. Scarlet, being a dark red color, more specially the color of blood, represents to
readers that within the pages will be a dark and intense story. Upon reading the novel in its entirety,
the scarlet letter itself becomes the most significant and important use of symbolism in the novel. It
transforms from a simple A into a metaphor for the mortification of committing a sin. Initially
standing for adultery , its meaning transforms many times throughout the book. In being used as both
and label and an idea, Hawthorne again shows his skill in making complexity seem effortless. He
constantly plays with the idea of supernatural against the literal which is mainly showcased in the
mutability of the scarlet letter. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In marking his flesh with the symbol of shame, Dimmesdale attempts to free himself of his sin. The
letter turns a literal shade of scarlet as the blood stained A is shown as carved into his chest to the
townspeople. He admits to the community that I stand upon the spot where, seven years since, I
should have stood (Hawthorne, 350) to admit fault. Dimmesdale knows that he too should ve been
forced to wear the letter everyday, and as a result leaves a permeant scar on his body in attempt to
make up for it. Here, the label symbolizing mortification enables readers to see Hester s strength over
Dimmesdale s cowardliness. Especially as a women during this time and setting, her ability to
embrace this punishment shows extreme bravery and toughness, much more than her male counterpart

Nursing Supervisor Essay
A nursing supervisor is a versatile and productive member of the healthcare team. This position
involves managing staff, recruiting new employees, ensuring that rules and policies are being followed
and plays a huge role in patient care. With a positive job outlook growing rapidly this is a great
position for someone who wants to be involved on the floor of the hospital both clinically and
administratively.
The nursing supervisor has many responsibilities in a healthcare setting. They are responsibly for clear
communication between the staff. They are to make sure that the proper amount of nurses are on shift
as well as ensuring that the nurse to patient ratio is sufficient. Communication is also essential when
they are dealing with patients, patient s families, administrators and physicians on a daily basis. They
must be willing and able to answer questions from each aspect of the healthcare system. Nursing
supervisors must also contribute to the hiring and training process for new nurses; they must find the
perfect fit for their facility as well as train them to be at the standard of the other nurses. The
supervisor usually plans and organizes orientation for newly hired nurses, and in service training for

Analysis of Consolation in Hades Bosom Poem
To begin with, this essay must summarize the poem s story written by the poet. At the very beginning,
the first stanza presents someone who has disappeared from this world. The second stanza tells us
about a woman who has lost something or someone really important, and how this affects her
emotional state. Later on, the poem goes deeper in the woman s feelings of desolation. In stanza five,
the poem explains the journey taken by the woman, in order to find the body of her loss, ending up
with the encounter to a witch. The next stanza clarifies that she has found Hades world and not a
witch, it describes the meeting and introduces the next stanza. Then, it is exposed what Hades told her,
stating that her son (only at this stanza, this is clearly stated) is death somewhere they both know.
Finally, the last stanza presents the resolution of the story, when the woman finds the dead body of her
son and also what she has been aiming for during the journey: relief.
Afterwards, this essay must analyze the poem in terms of form. 8 stanzas, all quatrains, except stanza
two and eight, which are quintets, compose it. Probably this distinction on extent is parallel to the
relevance of those stanzas within the composition. As we can notice in stanza number 2, the old
woman realizes her recent loss and it is the first emotion shown in the poem. On the other hand, the
last stanza is more clearly shown why it uses 5 lines instead of 4, and it also has relation with the
significance in the

  • 2. Essay on Art Throughout History Introduction Any discussion of the role of texts and art works in changing the status of art and artists, wherever the location, has no option but to place art in an historical, sociopolitical and cultural context. Art cannot be taken as an entity in and of itself, or be placed outside of the above frameworks. The scope of this discussion cannot feasibly include a thorough history of European art from the decline of the Roman Empire to the rise of the artist in Renaissance Italy and beyond the Alps. It will, however, attempt to condense certain points which will allow some historical context to lead it into an understanding of the roles of texts and works of art in changing the status of art and the artist. Many questions arise, not least ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The discussion will focus upon the essential texts of Giorgio Vasari (1511 74) in the elevation of the artist from a lowly crafts member of the Guilds of St Luke via patronage by the Church and rich Italian city states to celebrated innovator of cultural aesthetics and society figurehead such as Michelangelo Buenarroti, the mentor of Vasari whom he saw as the pinnacle of artistic practice, one whom it is ubiquitously claimed excelled even the art of the ancient Greeks. It will also briefly discuss other notable artists who wrote during the period of the Renaissance. Historical context Since the time of the Greeks (artists held in great reverence in the Renaissance such as Apelles and Zeuxis 5th 4th Centuries BC) recorded via Pliny the Elder (23 79) in what has come to be known as Antiquity, through the Roman Empire, art became enshrined in the western Christian Church and in the ... • 3. A Community Mental Health Team While Working With A Client... Introduction This literature review and research proposal was motivated following a practice placement with a Community Mental Health Team while working with a client with Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD). GAD is a long term condition that causes someone to feel anxious about a wide range of situations and issues, rather than one specific event. GAD is a common mental health condition affecting 1 in every 25 people in the United Kingdom, its prevalence is slightly more among women than men and individuals between the ages of 35 and 55 (NHSChoices, 2014). People with GAD feel anxious most days and often struggle to remember the last time they felt relaxed (NHSChoices, 2014). Feeling anxious is a normal response to stressful experiences, however when anxiety is prolonged, inappropriate, and/or overwhelming to the point that it impacts on functioning, it becomes a pathological disorder (Davis, 2011). The anxiety, worry, or physical symptoms cause significant distress or impairment in social, occupational, or other important areas of functioning (APA, 2000). Studies have shown that GAD is more impairing than other anxiety disorders (Hoffmann et al., 2009); and people afflicted with GAD have reported significantly less satisfaction with their quality of life in particular in the domains of self esteem, goals and values, money, work, play, learning, creativity, friends and family (Henning et al., 2007). Thus GAD has a disabling impact on an individual s occupation performance ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. 4th Amendment Essay All Americans are entitled to their rights. The Fourth Amendment states that we the people have to deny search and seizures from law enforcement without a warrant. The fourth amendment generally prohibits police from entering a home without a warrant unless the circumstances fit an established exception to the warrant requirement. According to the book The Constitution: Our Written Legacy by Joseph A. Melusky, the Fourth Amendment gives the right of the people to be secure in their person, houses, papers, and effects against unreasonable searches and seizures. Although we are entitled to these rights, police sometimes use and abuse their authority. In many cases, the Fourth Amendment has helped prove the innocence of one s actions. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the court case United States v. Ludwig the police took a narcotics dog through a parking lot in hopes that he would find the scent of drugs (www.loompanatics.com). Since a motorized vehicle has the ability to be driven far away and evidence can be removed, police believe that under certain circumstances they can search a car without a warrant. A dog alerted the cops by letting them know he smelled the scent of narcotics. They asked the suspect if they can search his truck. The suspect didn t give them consent he was against the search but they still took the keys from him to search the truck. They found drugs in his trunk and a couple of large bags of marijuana. The police didn t have a warrant nor did they have permission from the suspect to search his truck. The Supreme Court first ruled that it was unlawful to search his car without a warrant and no legit reasoning for the search. Then the court ruled that it was lawful because the officers said that the dog alerting them, were their reasoning for a warrantless search. The cops also stated in court that the reason they took the suspect s keys is because if they have didn t, there was a possibility that he could drive off and get rid off the drugs which would be their loss of evidence. This case shows how citizens have certain rights when it comes to their vehicles but they can still be violated in a sense. The next letter of the acronym is for illegal consent ... • 5. The Leadership Theory Of Leadership The leadership module is a very wide and dynamic one. There are several definitions for leadership as Stodgill (1974, p12) states. Seeman (1960, p3) defines leadership as the acts of a person which influence other people towards a shared direction. Influence is a vital aspect of leadership as the person who leads should have the charisma and the ability to influence others, otherwise leadership is non existent. However that does not mean that leaders are better people than their followers. Hollander (1992, p7) explains that leaders and followers should be understood in relation to each other. Leaders and followers both have a mutual purpose and attention to common goals. For this reflection, we were assigned two presentations at the start ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The group I was in was with Gary, Suwin and Matt, the same members from the previous term. Firstly, we looked pseudo transformational leadership style. This leadership method is where leaders violate the ethical requirements of transformational leadership and the leaders have certain characteristics such as being self consumed, exploitive and power orientated with values that they believed should be followed (Bass and Steidlmeier 1999). Bass and Steidlmeier (1999, p163) also suggest that leaders who adopt this method are more focused on their own interests rather than the interests of others. Barling et al. (2008), Christie et al. (2011), Eisenbeiß and Boerner (2013) and Kark et al. (2003) believe that pseudo transformational leadership style exploit transformational behaviors to encourage their followers unconditional loyalty to and dependence on the leader. However none of us from the group believed that we should adopt this approach due to the unethical morals of this approach. Therefore we moved on to the next leadership style which was the transformational leadership. Downton (1973) was the one who came with this term. Transformational leadership is when the leader engages with others and helps to raise motivation and morality for both leader and followers. Burns (2003) explains that transformational leadership is related to morale development in 2 ways; the first way is when leaders incorporate 3 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Rime Of The Ancyent Marinere Analysis In the poem The Rime of the Ancyent Marinere, the Marinere attains a change of mindset in regards to the sea snakes he encounters. This moment in the poem is larger than just the liking or disliking of an animal; it shows a larger change within the Marinere. Through exploring the concept of seeing in Carlos Castaneda s novel A Separate Reality, and applying it to the beloved Marinere, it is discovered that the Marinere completes the act of seeing. Being able to see allows the Marinere this shift in perspective and the gain of respect his has for all beings by the end of the piece. The Marinere s negative view of the sea snakes are an extension of his perception in regards to his unfavorable situation. The Mariner s first view of the sea snakes is one filled with contempt, which is carried by his overall feelings of despair and separation. The beginning of section four of The Rime of The Ancyent Marinere proceeds the death of the crew. The Mariner relates how he is alone and his soul is in agony (IV, 224 227). He furthers his separation from the beings around describing the dead men that lay on the deck as beautiful (IV, 228 229). The living sea snakes as a million million slimy things, and then himself as simply living with them without a secondary descriptor (IV, 229 231). His lack of description for himself is another separation between the Marinere and his surrounds; the cause of his worsening outlook and perception of his situation. The Marinere s situation is not changed, however his perception changes and because of a new and brighter outlook he gains in cognizance with the sea snakes. The Marinere s change in perception begins when moonlight bathes the ocean and in return everything encaptured in it. Again the Mariner takes a special interest in the sea snakes for they live on as he does (IV, 230 231). At this point in the poem the sea snakes are now happy living things (IV, 274). The Marinere feels a sense of love towards them and blesses them without his conscious awareness (IV, 276 277). The Marinere simultaneously releases the guilt of the albatross that has been hung around his neck, to quote: The self same moment I could pray/ And from my neck so free/ The Albatross fell off, and ... • 7. The Bean Trees by Barbara Kingsolver Birds are a personal symbol for Turtle s development. Throughout the novel, birds are tied to Turtle and major events in her life. Turtle makes her first sound when the car stops suddenly to avoid a family of quail. I slammed on the brakes and we all pitched forward... I think that sound was a laugh ...In the road up ahead there was a quail, the type that has one big feather spronging out the front of its head like a forties model ladies hat. We could just make out that she was dithering back and forth in the road, and then we gradually could see that there were a couple dozen babies running around her every which way (Kingsolver 106 107). Turtle and Taylor have become comfortable as a family and Turtle has recovered from her previous trauma to the point that she makes audible noises and expresses herself. Just as the family of Taylor and Turtle has brought joy to the lives of Lou Ann, Mattie, Esperanza and Estevan, this disruptive family of birds bring joy and laughter to Taylor and Turtle. When Taylor takes Turtle to the doctor and learns the extent of Turtle s abuse, she sees a bird that has made its nest inside a cactus. I looked through the bones to the garden on the other side. There was a cactus with bushy arms and a coat of yellow spines as thick as fur. A bird had built her nest in it. In and out she flew among the horrible spiny branches, never once hesitating. You just couldn t imagine how she d made a home in there (Kingsolver 137 138). Just as the bird has ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. PESTLE Analysis on Tesco Therefore, by discussing the environmental factors of PESTLE , in my personal opinion, I strongly believe that the Political , the Economic and the Legal environments have the most impact on Tesco as it operates internationally, in the United Kingdom and within 12 markets across Asia and Europe. For this very reason it very important to consider all possible, political, economic and legal structures, impacts and outcomes which might affect the overall success of the company as they play a major role in relation to one another. When looking at the political factors for Tesco, and, as it operates in a globalized environment with locations across the world, the company s performance is extremely influenced by the political and legislative functions of each country. In terms of legislations under employment, the government really encourages retailers to provide work place opportunities from, flexible, lower paid, local based jobs to highly skilled, paid, and centrally located jobs (Balchin, 1994) to meet certain demands relating to students, senior citizens and working parents. The company understands that while being in the retail industry, it has a large impact on individuals and the work place (the development of new stores may often be seen as a conflict to other retail sectors due to the fact that the traditional stores go out of business or are forced to cut certain cost in order to being able to compete) as being a fundamentally local and labour intensive sector. ... During the clinical rotation at Jackson South the group identified a need in wound care especially for patients with other underlying health issues such as diabetes. A large percentage of patients had wounds that would require patients to properly care for them once discharged. J.G. has a history of wound infection. If there is any presence of pus or bleeding, excessive pain, or odor, the wound may be infected. It is essential that J.G. and his daughter know what signs may indicate infection and that they call their health care provider if infection is suspected. If infection develops it can have a great impact on the wound healing process and can lead to hospitalization (Grothie amp; Ousey, 2014). This can lead to chronic wounds. Chronic wounds are slow to heal and take over 6 weeks. Chronic wounds might need a referral to a wound clinic. A wound clinic will help the patient develop a healing plan and monitor the size and progress of the wound. According to Duara, From a historian s perspective, decolonization was one of the most important developments of the twentieth century because it turned the world into the stage of history. Therefore, it is of no surprise that much historical research has been devoted to this phenomenon; and the various nuances among the decolonization processes undergone by the various Southeast Asian countries have been of interest. Secondly, the controversial debate of whether Lee Kuan Yew entered heated debates with Tunku Abdul Rahman, therefore engineering the whole separation from Malaysia has also raised the question of whether Lee did seek to have the independence of Singapore as an individual nation state. The second salient point of dissimilarity when comparing Singapore s decolonization process with that of her neighbours is the matter of whether a mass based indigenous nationalist movement had emerged on the Singapore political landscape before WWII; and even if it did after the war, Albert Lau argues that commentators are still not agreed about its efficacy in ending British rule in Singapore . The lack of this movement can be gleaned from the stances the various spectrums of Singaporean society took: the Indian community remained politically quiescent throughout most of the interwar years, and few issues actually roused the Indians from their traditional docility ; the political awakening among the dominant Chinese and minority Malay, and Indian communities by ... Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), or Transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI), is a relatively new surgical procedure to combat aortic stenosis. When the aortic valve gets occluded from a congenital defect, or damage from calcium or scarring ,1 blood cannot flow through the valve efficiently. This leads to decreased availability of oxygenated blood to peripheral tissues, and can be harmful or even fatal to patients. When the malformations of the valve reach a critical point in which the patient s health will be significantly affected by the lack of proper blood flow,

Preventability measures are taken to prepare for disasters that are known risk for happening. Although not all disastrous events can be prevented initially, steps can be taken to reduce the impact and after effects when they do occur. For instance, with the Houston flood, numerous reservoirs were constructed to help control some overflow of some 67 billion gallons of water. Imminence coincides with predictability in most cases and also helps the planning of prevention and control when it can be implemented. Weather forecasters can be detrimental when it comes to predicting a flood as this can predict expected rainfall duration and amounts. The scope and number of casualties is usually tallied during and after a disastrous event as the baseline is always zero prior to the event happening. This specific criteria represents the number of people displaced, injured or killed per event happening. Intensity is typically measured before an event to help garner some sort of ability to prepare for an expected incoming crisis. Intensity can also be measured during a disaster to help foretell fatality rates and also overall damage incurrence. Application of Disaster Management Stages Prevention, preparation and planning, responsiveness, and recovery are all the stages of managing a disaster. Prevention is the first stage in disaster management. This stage occurs before a disaster takes place and identifies possible risks. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 24. The Honor Tug Of War The Honor Tug of War In The First Part of King Henry IV, Shakespeare integrates the concept of honor throughout the whole play. Honor is often thought of as a symbol that signifies approval or distinction, but it is how one embodies this honor that varies in the play. Certain characters are so fixated with honor that they forget about the other aspects of their life, in direct contrast other characters have no belief in honor and only care about self preservation. Shakespeare uses characters like this to illustrate how the positive traits can be contained in one man who embodies the truest form of honor, this being Prince Hal. By comparing Hotspur and Falstaff s opposing views of honor, Shakespeare exposes that the Prince has the beneficial traits of the two, therefore making him the symbol of rational and noble honor. The ballad A lamentable Ditty composed upon the Death of Robert Lord Devereux, late Earle of Essex, who was be headed in the Tower of London, on Ashwenesday in the morning, 1600.To the tune of Welladay illustrates how honor was viewed in the Renaissance through the story telling of a recently passed on Lord. The fourth stanza of the ballad explains how Robert Lord Devereux achieved his honor on the battlefield by stating All men that is and was, / evermore still: / One day as it was soone, / in honour of our Queene, / Such deeds hath nere bin seene, / as he did doe. So, assuming the statement to be true, is it accurate? Upon reading the novel in its entirety, the scarlet letter itself becomes the most significant and important use of symbolism in the novel. It transforms from a simple A into a metaphor for the mortification of committing a sin. Initially standing for adultery , its meaning transforms many times throughout the book. At the very beginning, the first stanza presents someone who has disappeared from this world. The second stanza tells us about a woman who has lost something or someone really important, and how this affects her emotional state. Later on, the poem goes deeper in the woman s feelings of desolation. In stanza five, the poem explains the journey taken by the woman, in order to find the body of her loss, ending up with the encounter to a witch. The next stanza clarifies that she has found Hades world and not a witch, it describes the meeting and introduces the next stanza. Then, it is exposed what Hades told her, stating that her son (only at this stanza, this is clearly stated) is death somewhere they both know. Finally, the last stanza presents the resolution of the story, when the woman finds the dead body of her son and also what she has been aiming for during the journey: relief. Afterwards, this essay must analyze the poem in terms of form. 8 stanzas, all quatrains, except stanza two and eight, which are quintets, compose it. Probably this distinction on extent is parallel to the relevance of those stanzas within the composition. As we can notice in stanza number 2, the old woman realizes her recent loss and it is the first emotion shown in the poem.
