Women in Violent Relationships
Throughout the years, there have been immense efforts to expand knowledge about the experiences
women have endured in violent relationships. The emergence of internal, external risk factors,
correlates, and causes of intimate partner violence has increased rapidly in recent decades.
Although there has been a rise in many supportive groups, there are still various barriers that exist
and prohibit women from seeking help to detach themselves from a violent relationship. In reading
Roz story, I have learned of the many barriers to understand, why couldn t she just leave? Although
this question may have no straight answer and may even have hindered implications, I feel that
patriarchy plays a role in this intimate partner violence. The... Show more content on

maybe things would be much better. She would feel a sense of guilt if she would leave the
children. The children grew to love her, and Brian s behavior was not only affecting her but the
children as well. She felt she needed to protect them from his violent way. Deep in her heart she
felt that there would be one day when he could change, because she could see the good in him.
Brian would use his charm on her, profess his immense love for her and she would again forgive
him and stay in the relationship. It is obvious that Roz was brainwashed in believing Brian loved
her in spite of his controlling and violent ways.
Brian seemed to have total control of Roz. Brian seemed to have his own personal issues with
dealing with the loss of his wife, taking care of four children by himself, and although the book
does not reveal any other issues, it s quite evident that he had trust issues and insecurities of his
own. His behaviors indicate that his violent ways is his way of being in power and control. He
would use his grieving as an excuse for his behavior. His non violent actions were just as
repetitive, his continued absence at home, no concern for his children, promiscuous behavior, his
insensitivity to her needs in her time of illness and his accusations of mistrust were just as
heartbreaking for Roz. The series of

Canadian Political Parties
Choices made, whether bad or good, follow you forever and affect everyone in their path one way
or another (Spredemann). This quote strongly relates to the issue on hand, if the new formed
political parties had an affect on how Canada is now. Firstly, the social credit party fought for
things which are now available in Canada. Secondly, the Parti Quebecois stood for Quebec s
independence, and today, they have much more political power as a province than they used to.
Thirdly, without the CCF, Canada might have not had the social programs it has today. In brief,
without the creation of new political parties in Canada, the freedoms and amenities available might
have not existed.

Firstly, Canada has two official languages and considers Francophones a major part in Canadian
history. Even though, French speaking Canadians are a minority in today s society, they are
recognized as a minority and play a major role in Canadian society and politics. Secondly, the
people of Quebec were given the opportunity to vote in the referendum of 1995, voting yes or no
for independence of Quebec. Many Quebecois wanted independency from the rest of Canada,
and the results were very close. The percentage of people who said no were 50.58% and 49.42%
of people said yes. The party which was in provincial power at the time, was Parti Quebecois.
Thirdly, Quebec s strong pride for it s language and culture, has caused French to be the only
prominent language in Quebec. The people of Quebec feared that Francophones would assimilate
and lose heir language and culture. A law was passed which made it mandatory that signs must be
in French or the French must be bigger than the English. There is actually a police force which
fines people for putting up English signs. As a result, Quebec has much more political power as a
province than they ever used

Postmodern Views On The State
Postmodern Views on the State
Many societies have experienced post modernization as the de centralization of society, politics,
and economy as well as the decline of the various dominant modernization paradigms, which
structured industrial society both formally and informally in the past decades (Best and Kellner
1997; Drake 2010). In social are, for example, the ethnic or cultural bases of many nationalities
have started to dissolve and societies have become more multiethnic, multicultural, fragmented
and melting pots of various hybrid postmodern identities (Jessop 2015:157). In political era,
scholars have advanced the end of ideology thesis during the end of the 1980s and especially with
the collapse of the Soviet Communist Bloc. The liberalism, individualism, post modernist
discourses were triumphant and announcing the dawn of a new era in which early ideological
conflicts would disappear as a source of political conflict on the global scale (Fukuyama 1993). In
economy field, at the start of the twenty first century, almost everyone can realize the significance
of economy not just in deciding elections but also in shaping the broader processes of the state.
Scholars also argue that we are now living in an age of pocket book politics , which means that
with the decline of traditional political ideologies, narrowly conceived economic self interest has
been the overwhelming driving force of the political processes (Pierson 2011:81). Political

The Tortilla Curtain Essay
Racism as well as immigration, class and acceptance of minorities have been a highly discussed
issue well known throughout the world. In many cases, we are able to see and identify the
problems that immigrants may face while coming into the U.S, as well as those problems they
face while already living here. In the novel written by T.C. Boyle, however, as readers we are
introduced to a variety of different emotions and ideas as told from two completely different
families living in Topanga Canyon. In the book The Tortilla Curtain, as readers we are introduced to
many issues including racism, the wealth gap, and the internal conflict of pressure Delaney faces by
society against immigrants. In the beginning of the story we are introduced to characters... Show

The symbolism behind this is the values and ideas he has against the immigrants. These racist
thoughts stretch throughout the book, each idea being connected to another with the description of
Delaney s feelings towards the Mexicans. As opposed to Delaney, the author also tells the story
from the point of view from three other characters being Kyra, Candido, and America. The
importance of viewing the immigrants lives is that the readers are able to see the struggles that
these immigrants go through as well, not only does it show their hardships but also how they suffer
with the discrimination. Like in today s world, life for immigrants is difficult and they suffer a
great amount. Their intentions for coming into the United States is to get a better life for themselves
and their families but many of the times, life here doesn t seem to be as easy. Upper and middle
class families grow up in rich neighborhoods never having to worry about how they will make ends
meet and how they will go on through life. The hardships that they face will never compare to those
that immigrants face while coming into the U.S and once they are already here. The landscape that
was constructed as the Arroyo Blanco had affected the communities of both the upper class and the

Big Brother And Technology Essay
Everyday technology is advancing and has become part of people s everyday life, from phones,
cars, computers, and even the light switches in a room. With all this technology, it would be
easy to use it for other things then what they were intended for. For example what if someone
wanted to control what another person could do such as sleeping or going places. It would not
not be that hard to try and control another human being, or even worse being watched every
single moment of everyday for the rest of their life. That idea is not as farfetched as it may seem
now with even more phones, computers, televisions and cameras in general. Technology is taking
humanity nearer and nearer to world of Big Brother and the worse part is that if they are not
careful, Big Brother could raise without any citizen ever knowing.
In the novel 1984, by George Orwell, there is a society that has become a negative utopia, in
where there is a party named Big Brother that watches over all of its people at all times using
mainly their invention of the telescreen. Likewise, many people have phones, computers, tablets,
and even televisions that have functions such as a camera and video usages. Companies that create
these products have credibility and the trust of the public that they would not use the cameras on
their phone for surveillance and that s where people seem to be fine with the whole thing. Another
thing to be worried about is also public cameras or street cameras which can monitor groups of

What Is The Theme Of The Story
UBuhlaluse Benkosi (The king s Buhlaluse) Proverb: Umona usuka esweni ( jealousy comes from
the eye)
Background: The story takes place somewhere in ancient kwaZulu Natal. It deals with people living
in rural kwaZulu Natal. It also has a tribal structure centred around the king. Characters: The King,
The princess, The attendants /companions, The Woodcutter, The villagers.
The story
Long time ago, there was a beautiful girl named Buhlaluse. She was the king s beloved daughter.
Her father loved her so much that he hired some maidens to be her companions / attendants, but her
companions were envious of her beauty and her life. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Moreover, we should be careful of digging graves for others because in the end we might be the
ones who end up in those graves. This story is a serious warning not to get into anti social schemes.
Proverb: Umona usuka esweni (Jealousy comes from the eye / Jealousy displeasure)
Jealousy is the theme of uBuhlaluse beNkosi. In this story Buhlaluse is the victim of jealousy. She
has done nothing wrong, but finds herself in the undesirable position of not being liked by her
companions. All because her they are envious of her beauty and her royal status as a result, they try
to kill her.
Language usage: Folktales were specifially created for teaching, they display the do s and dont s
of Zulu culture. Therefore, the storyteller had to use good language as well as well chosen words
that make the story come alive and linger in the mind of listeners. Unfortunately some of those
words are lost when translating the story from Zulu to English, for example when the woodcutter
first hears Buhlaluse singing, he says Babeshane! yimihlola..... because there s no equivalent of this
expression in English, it is difficult to tell the story exactly as it was

Fall Of Yugoslavia
Yugoslavia fell in the 1990 s into a mess of right wing nationalistic states at war, resulted in
numerous war crime, the bitter end was the result of the fragmented political atmosphere in the
wake of Tito s death. Significantly, though, the Soviet Union came to a relatively peaceful end due
to Gorbachev s leadership style, while the inability for different factions to compromise led to
Milošević s rise and the disturbing events of the 1990 s. Tito s government, while deservedly
less notorious than Stalin s, was not able to achieve much economic success, and after his death the
country s centralized leadership began to fragment. Tito was replaced with a collective presidency,
but this system began to fall apart due to economic troubles, specifically... Show more content on

While Tito s oppression may have made people more intrigued by its rise after his death, this fails
to explain why things ended the way they did. When Stalin died things changed in the USSR, but it
didn t fall. And notably, Yugoslavia remained (de facto) unified until 1992, twelve years after Tito s
death. I m convinced that things happened the way they did because nationalism appealed to the
people; Milošević sought to keep Yugoslavia unified, but with Serbian supremacy, a promise
which would have sounded good if you were a Serbian worried about the future of your people
and your nation, and used heinous means to try to achieve his goal. Perhaps if some sort of plan
had been made prior to Tito s death that addressed the problems that could arise, Yugoslavia may
have lasted longer. Some people certainly hold onto memories of a time when Yugoslavia was at
peace, what Dubravka Ugrešić called Yugonostalgia in her novel The Ministry of Pain,
indicating that there may have been the potential for Yugoslavia to stay how it was had nationalism
not been so appealing. In short, Yugoslavia may have been an old man no longer in his prime, but
nationalism murdered it, and Tito s death laid the gun on the

Olive Trees Important To Athens
Olive Trees and their historical and spiritual importance to Athens
By Cade Lannigan
Thesis:
If olive trees didn t exist Athens would have been a lot less successful.
Questions:
What was the mythology behind olive trees ?
How important were olive trees to the Athenians and what did they do to protect them ?
How did people make olive oil and what was it used for in ancient Greece ?
One example of olive tree importance was when Sparta burned all of their olive trees to weaken
their trading market of olive tree products.(smart move Sparta) Olive trees were so important to
Athens that one year when their olive groves failed they bought about 14,800 gallons ( 56,000

Capital Punishment And Capital Involvement
Capital punishment is an individual punishment to death for committing a crime. The history of
capital punishment fluctuates worldwide, between different governments and beliefs. The current
issue of capital punishment is taking lives without having a reliable reason to take them to the death
penalty. One large and main issue is that capital punishmentbreaches, or breaks two essential human
rights, which are the rights to life, and rights to living free of torture. This is a huge issue because
an individual should not be able to surpass any conditions when the operations of the executions go
against human rights. Another opposition of capital punishment is that many countries are sided
with the penalties, however, the citizens of the country may think differently dependant on their
religions and beliefs. The opposition between the government and the population in the country is
another large issue because the diverse opinion only makes matters worse. Though many countries
remain to argue that the punishments are beneficial, terminating the legal penalty would save
thousands of lives. Discontinuing the penalties would benefit the whole world by cutting the large
amount of taxes just for individual deaths, and the new adjustment would save lives from false
reasons, and misunderstandings.
UN Involvement: The main participant into capital punishment is the OHCHR or the Office of the
High Commissioner for Human Rights. The committee is helping with the global issue by having

Computer Generated Imagery And Its Effects
Computer generated imagery was being developed during the 1980s and it soon started being
used in films for effects. Rickitt (2006) explains that effects during the 80s were not just there to
solve problems and producing impossible shots like their initial purpose but used as a marketing
tool for films to promote themselves based on the quality of the image and amount of visual effects
involved. Star Wars was the first filmto make use of this marketing tool and made people grow
more interest on the film itself as well as the effects and of course, this brought more income to
the studios. This trend of using effects to promote films was immediately picked up and abused,
but it did not last long. Tron (1982) was the first film based almost entirely on computer
generated scenery and massively advertised for them. However it ended up failing at the box
office even though it had superb computer generated effects at the time of its release. Rickitt
described that the failure of Tron could have been what made visual effects take longer to develop
and being incorporated in films. This was the first sign that a film heavily equipped with effects
does not mean that it would make a hit. Narrative is an important element of a film and effects
cannot compensate for a bad narrative (McClean, 2007).
After a decade of slow development, computer generated imagery made its appearance once more
in Jurassic Park (1993) and changed the opinions directors and studios regarding visual effects.

What Is The Similarities Between Arcite And Plamon
Arcite and Palamon, friends and foes, both fighting for the hand of the same woman. Love, true
love, is that not one of the most popular themes in any type of media? The most common
portrayal of love is a forbidden love, but after that is rivaled love. Two people fighting for the love
of a single person. In The Knight s Tale, Chaucer gives us this exact same theme. Arcite and
Palamon, cousins, both attempting to earn the hand of the beautiful Emily. When looking closer at

Palamon recognizes his just penalty and does not argue against it. After Arcite is wounded during

Epic Hero Characteristics
By definition an epic hero is a brave and noble character found within a narrative who is admired
for great achievements and overcoming seemingly impossible odds. In the historic novel Beowulf,
the protagonist of the same name perfectly embodies the concept of an epic hero. On top of his
heroic and noble deeds, Beowulfaccomplishes multiple feats of inhuman strength such as slaying
savage beasts like Grendel, his mother, as well as a mighty dragon that laid waste to the land, all
of which were completely impervious to swords or any other forms of weaponry known at the
time. Undeterred, Beowulf managed to slay the fiends with overwhelming force and his
unrelenting ferocity. While more common heroes such as the knights of the era are known for their
valiant efforts, it is Beowulf s incomparable might and his history of success where legions have

When a threat arises that endangers the wellbeing of civilians, heroes are called to action. A hero
can fall under many categories. Police men, fire fighters, doctors, soldiers, and even parents can
qualify as heroes. In the fictional world events may occur that are simply out of the hands of
common heroes. In these situations people look towards epic heroes to aid them in their time of
need. The character Beowulf perfectly embodies the essence of an epic hero. He holds all the
characteristics possessed by more common heroes as well as the strength to challenge and
conquer adversities that are beyond any human s capabilities. Through his fight with Grendel he
shows honor in refusing to fight with any advantages. In his battle with Grendel s mother he
showed perseverance in the face of adversity and in his final duel with the dragon he showed self
sacrifice for the good of the people. Beowulf s actions cement his legacy as one of literature s
greatest epic heroes and his actions continue to inspire many in today s

P. Cinereus Sexual Selection
Sexual sections is one of the processes of natural selection in which there is a competition for
sexual reproduction, these competitions can be classified as intersexual or intrasexual. Intersexual
competition occurs when one organism, usually female, chooses its partner. Intrasexual
competition, on the other hand, happens when species from the same gender compete to sexually
reproduce. The main purpose of this experiment is to understand sexual selection process and
behavior of P. cinereus, a type of salamandra. In order to do so, different groups of the P. cinereus

genetically monogamous which are both factors that affect sexual selection. The

The Third Floor Of An Old House
Kellie and Gregg had been living on the third floor of an old house in Shanghai. Before moving in
Kellie had expectations of becoming close friends with the multiple neighbors who lived on the
floors below. Once moved in, she realized that the neighbors did not have the same optimism and
would not even say hello.
Kellie did not give up on her quest to make friends with her neighbors and eventually made a little
progress with a couple of them. After a few months, upon returning from vacation, one of the mom

took them a plate of brownies. After hastily placing one on grandpa s plate, she remembered that
the Chinese were not big on sweets.
One evening, Gregg told Kellie that he saw the neighbors crying. Kellie decided to call the

The old man isn t there anymore. Not really knowing her neighbors, or which room they actually

Women s Inequality In Honduras

Allegory In Lord Of The Flies Research Paper
Thesis Golding s work uses allegory to portray that the nature of man is inherently evil. Key
Points 1.When their plane crashes onto the desert island, the young English boys are left to
establish a government of their own. At the unanimous approval of the group, Ralph becomes
the leader. This decision is primarily because he is the one who blew the conch shell that
gathered the lost boys. In truth, Ralph could not have blown the conch shell if Piggy hadn t
recognized its importance and taught him how to use it. Piggy could have blown the conch
shell, too, if it weren t for his asthma. Though Piggy is the most knowledgeable candidate, he is
plowed over and unaccepted because of his pudgy appearance. This shows man s inherently evil
nature because it is an instance of man judging someone based solely upon appearance. It can be
interpreted as an allegorical reference to war, in instances where logic and reasoning (Piggy) is
ignored to follow an outwardly powerful leader (Ralph). 2.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The Fantasy Football League
Fantasy football is one discourse community that I participate in every year along with my
friends and family. If a stranger were to listen to any conversations we were having about
fantasy football, they may not understand some of the knowledge that is required of someone to
contribute to the fantasy football domain. This is true because within a fantasy football league
there are many different phrases and terminology that we would not use on a regular basis. I
would like to start off by explaining what fantasy football is and how it works. Fantasy football
is all about constructing a virtual team made up of NFL players. At the start of any football
season, everyone who want to be in the fantasy league gets together to have a draft. These team
owners proceed to pick NFL players that they want for their team. Depending on what league
someone is in determines what type of players an owner can put on their team. Typically a
starting team will consist of one quarterback, a couple receivers and running backs, a kicker, a

the league. After he picks a player from the NFL, the next owner will pick a player and it goes
down the line until all the owners have one player on their team. To make this process fair the
owner with the last pick gets the first pick in the second round of the draft and then it will go up
the line to the owner who had the first pick, and after the owner with

The Inglorious Basterds
Inglourious Basterds is a 2009 war film that was inspired from Enzo G. Casteralli s 1978 macaroni
combat film known as The Inglorious Bastards. It follows an alternative story to bring down the
Third Reich plotted by French Jew Shosanna Dreyfus (Melanie Laurent) and the Inglourious
Basterds, a Jewish American group led by Lieutenant Aldo Raine (Brad Pitt).
The screenplay for the film was written in 1998, however, Tarantino struggled to bring the film to
an end and put it on hold to direct Kill Bill (2003/2004). After finishing Death Proof (2007),
Tarantino returned to the screenplay and was able to commence filming in Germany and France in
2008 with a budget of $70,000,000. The film turned out to be Tarantino s highest grossing film up
until Django: Unchained (2012), making it his second. The film was nominated for seven Oscars

If I could write an Immigration Act for today it would state that immigration would be allowed but
also monitored, in order to control the population from getting out of hand. Also, anyone caught in
this country illegally, without papers of any sort, would be sent back to their country of origin and
would also be banned from trying to re enter the country, legally or not.
Character Representation
In the film that we watched in class, many of the characters portray or represent something in real
life. Starting off with the mice in the beginning of the movie or Fible s family. They represent a
major group of people who immigrated to this country during the time of immigration, the Jews.
The reason that they immigrate to America is because they are fleeing the cats, and supposedly
there are no cats in America. The reason that they are fleeing from the cats is because the cats
represent oppression and the Russians. The pigeons represent the French and they are building the
Statue of Liberty, in the beginning of the movie. Fible s mouse friend, Tony, is Italian, and the other
mouse friend, she is Irish.

Swot Analysis And Porter s Five Forces Of Competition
Business strategists often use strategic planning frameworks such as SWOT analysis and Porter s
five forces of competition. These frameworks aid organizations think about the sorts of inquiries
they want to ask and the information that they need to put in consideration before making any
business decisions. They both help in evaluating company s strengths and weaknesses associated
to the industry s opportunities and challenges. SWOT can be defined as a more general and
overall assessment, while the Five Forces model is more single growth decision. SWOT is a
simple evaluation of the company s current situation based on strengths and weaknesses, as well as
a look at opportunities and possible threats as the company moves forward in the industry. To
conduct this analysis, company managers often set up a table that includes main points in each of
the four SWOT classifications. Strengths and weaknesses are evaluated in relation to how your
company currently deals against competitors. Identifying opportunities and threats includes
suggesting future events or direction. The Five Forces model includes five factors in a competitive
framework. They include the bargaining power of suppliers, the bargaining power of buyers,
competitive rivalry, threat from substitutions and threat of new entries. Five Forces analysis is used
to find out the competitive advantages the business has in each part. As a product reseller, for

Differences Between Henri De Lautrec s Painting And Degas...
Lautrec once said, I paint things as they are. I don t comment ( Henri de Toulouse Lautrec quotes,
n.d.). A painting can represent various objects and emotions within a square canvas, which each
artist creates an artwork with different techniques. These make each painting has it own meaning.
There are several differences between Lautrec s painting and Degas painting, which are the artists
themselves, the subject matter, the emotions depicted, and the technique of painting.
The first difference between the paintings is the artists themselves. An artist is a person who
produces an artwork. Henri de Toulouse Lautrec is a french man. He was born into an aristocratic
family, which seems to be beneficial to him. However, he was born with a genetic condition.
Between the ages of thirteen and fourteen, his legs were fractured, and both of them ceased to

Whitten, 2003). Due to his abnormality, he was not able to do the same activities as others, so he

position of the feature in Seated Dancer in Pink Tights by focusing on the center and painting this

objects in Waiting, and the artist divided the space into two section for each of them (Martin,
2003). There are numerous techniques to place features into different positions. Seated Dancer in
Pink Tight, Lautrec s painting, focuses on the single object at the center of the painting, which is a

Theme Of Evil In Genesis
In Genesis we see the question arise of how can God be all good and omnipotent yet allow such
evils in to exist in the world that he has created. The Old Testament, in raising this question, also
tries to answer it. From an early act of disobedience by Adam and Eve to Cain killing Abel we can
that evil in the world is preordained as a result of human disobedience to God. In the first books
there is little to no reference to good showing hatred or neglect towards humans and yet still they
disobey him. Therefor a disappointed God can do nothing to prevent evilbecause it comes through
human wickedness rather than any acts of God. The second issue of evil is the existence of
undeserved evil such as pain. But this too is answered, we see God use natural evil as a means of
showing man the ways they have corrupted the world or to display his power over man as seen in
the Book of Job. Overall the problem of evilin Genesis originates from man and it is unpreventable
by God.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the story almost immediately. We see Apollo attempt to rape Daphne and Jupiter rape lo, then
turn her to a cow when his wife gets suspicious. We get a feeling of evil created by both the Gods
and humans because in these Graeco Roman Myths we get a sense of Gods that are very human

John Locke And Rene Descartes
Philosophers are individuals who address critical analysis of fundamental assumptions or beliefs
with underlying theories of their own. John Locke and Rene Descartes were both classified as
modern philosophers in the seventeenth century who sums up the subject about personal identity
and its determents in reference to our own existence, such as who are we? The personal identity
theory states that the philosophical confrontation with the ultimate questions of our own existence,
such as who are we, and is there life after death? This investigation of personal identity specifies

How Did George Washington Win The Revolutionary War
The Continental Army s choice of George Washington as their leader of the continental army was
critical in ensuring the United States victory. While many in the colonies wanted freedom from
Britain that was not the case for everyone. Individuals motives were largely location dependant.
The Battle of Saratoga proved to be pivotal in ensuring the United Statesvictory against British
forces.
George Washingtonwas a very wise decision for the leader of the Continental Army. Washington
had gained quite a bit of fighting experience during the Seven Years war and had earned himself a
spot as the colonies most well known military officer. The Second Continental Congress knew that
making a southerner like Washington the colonial leader would help strengthen colonial unity
among the troops. In response to Washington s appointment, Britain officially declared the colonies
to be in a state of rebellion. They sent over thousands of soldiers and ordered that all colonial ports

When pondering guns we tend to think whether the Second Amendment, the right to bear arms,
would be taken away. Whether or not to allow concealed weapons on college campuses has been

like a hard debate for many reasons, one such as whether it would be safe to allow college
students to be armed with weapons. Several colleges lately have been allowing conceal and

In order for students to be successful in college, they must be responsible. John McNay once
said, There is an assumption that if these people are licensed to carry guns then they will act
responsibility and wise with the weapons. But we license people to drive cars, too, and we see
people driving foolishly and carelessly all the time (McNay). This states that there seems to be not
much trust in the college students and that they will probably not act as responsible as they should
with a deadly weapon in their possession. If the students are trusted to carry a gun, then they should
be responsible with that gun in hand. Other factors also come into play when considering
whether students should be allowed to carry guns, such as drugs or alcohol could play a role in
how students act. Vore once said, A lot of folks think they re just going to carry a gun ... and just
going to pop their head up and confront the shooter and shoot them (Hulsey). People who have
guns often feel like they are strong and are invincible. They often act like they can confront the
person when they can t always do that. It isn t safe because the student could easily be shot by the
shooter. Shooters are more likely to shoot someone who has a gun than someone who doesn t, so
students are just putting themselves in more danger if they have a gun in hand. Students need to be
more responsible in knowing when the right time would be to take

The Effects Of Air Pollution On The World
Throughout the last 200 years, there have been a plethora of inventions such as the combustion
engine. Other such inventions include the steam engine, typically driven by coal, and propellants
used to spray chemicals. The Industrial Revolution left an impact on the world far greater than just
inventions and set forth a world of change. Although the Industrial Revolution brought many great
devices in to the world, it also could have caused the accelerated climate change and warming that
we saw throughout the 21st century. In fact, over the 900 years before the Industrial Revolution
began, the average world temperature was in decline and the 1990s was the warmest decade on
record. The introduction of the combustion engine characterizes the Industrial revolution more than
any other invention because it was used for anything from textiles to automobiles. Not only does
the combustion engine characterize the Industrial Revolution, but it also characterizes pollution.
Air pollution is in direct relation to air quality, for which we have certain standards (Vallero, 2007,
p. 3). These standards can be interfered with, and a large amount of the pollutants that cause the
interference come from combustion engines. In the combustion cycle of an internal combustion
engine, a fire is created which burns fossil fuels such as diesel and gasoline. Although the fire is
contained well, not all of the fuel is burned off and in turn is exhausted with the same chemicals
that were

Real Estate Investing Goals
When it comes to investing goals, setting them is the easy part; its reaching them that can get a bit
complicated and challenging. What looks feasible on paper can seem insurmountable in real life
when obstacles present themselves. Overcoming these obstacles and keeping your goals at the
forefront of every investing decision that you make is key to moving up the real estate investing
ladder and building residual income.
The number one thing that can distract you from your goals is discouragement. In the world of
investments, particularly those involving real estate, nothing goes quite as planned and there is
always some element of risk. A miscalculation of costs or an unplanned emergency repair can set
you back thousands of dollars. If you ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Here are a few tips that you can try for yourself: Break large, long term goals up into smaller,
short term goals. Short term goals don t seem as impossible or as overwhelming as long term
goals and are easier to attain. Meeting short term goals also motivates you to keep moving forward
as you can track your progress with each milestone met.
Display a list of your goals in a spot that you will see them and be reminded of them often. In a
hectic world, its easy to lose sight of plans that you have made, but by constantly reminding
yourself of the goals that you have set, you will be able to keep them at the foundation of all of
your decisions.
Re evaluate your goals often. The real estate investing market changes constantly and you have to
be ready to change with it. A stale goal strategy will only put you further and further behind your
competition. Be ready to change with the market and adjust your goals accordingly.
Consistently meeting goals requires consistency on your part. Begin each day by asking yourself
what can be done that day to help you reach your goals. And don t be discouraged by progress
that doesn t seem to be moving along as well as you would like it to. Any victory, no matter how
small, brings you one step closer to realizing your ultimate investing

The Negative Effects Of Video Games On Children For Children
What surrounds children in this generation? A screen that has people running around on it.
People vandalize the word video game and try to make it sound like it is bad. False accusations
regarding video games has been an issue in the past few months or maybe even a few years.
Parents believe video games make a child addicted and glued to the screen and damaging them
physically and mentally. The reality is, there is research it can actually improve a child s physical
function by them moving around and working out certain body parts. Video games have said to be
non educational, a bad influence and a healthhazard for young children. False accusations coming
to its user s is a human rights violation because there has been research that video games can be
healthy, educational and nonviolent. Over the years many people say video games is hazardous
for a child s health. Even though there has been evidence linked to it, there is also evidence that
video games can be beneficial and educational due to it training the brain. The problem with video
games is that it can be addictive and can possibly ruin your health, or can it. Video Games are
highly beneficial because they give children a unique interactive learning environment (Deutsch 1).
With that being said, to some people video games might be a problem because it stop kids from
going outside and doing activities, but the upside is that they can be interactive with kids around
the world who suit the same interest. Interacting

The Human Nature Of Humans
Many researchers have tested the theory that humans are naturally war loving. A fair viewpoint,
from the article Evolutionary Life , is that human nature is not one thing, neither good nor bad
overall. People in general have been genetically endowed by evolution with a wide variety of
tendencies and capacities that respond to but are not necessarily controlled or determined by their
environment (Atlee). With this, it s fair to draw a line between how humans were made to act and
how they act today. In the earliest stages of humanlife through the present, humans have fought,
hunted, and killed their way through life. Today s difference to the past is not much different
besides the means we use to go about the deeds. Businessmen, politicians, and numerous other
professions utilize harmful tactics in order to get what they desire. For example, a politician
exposes the underlying evils of another candidate in order to gain votes, much like how the
infamous Salem Witch Trials were pursued in the late seventeenth century when others cried
witch in order to avoid being tortured and killed themselves. While one may argue that cavemen
were, in some aspects, biologically different than we are today and that they were not exposed to
as much as we are, one cannot argue that we are not still instinctively caveman like. We hunt and
gather food; we create new and improved ways of killing enemies or food source; and when we don
t like how or what someone else is

Drones In The Middle East
Another significant reason for the use of drones in the Middle East is because they have proven
to be an invaluable way to keep our ground troops safe. According to Oestergaard, the MQ 1B
Predator drone has a range of 777 miles and a maximum flight time of 40 hours while carrying
two Hellfire missiles. The MQ 9A Reaper drone has a range of 1,151 miles and a maximum
flight time of 30 hours. When it has a full payload of four Hellfire missiles and two laser guided
bombs it has a maximum flight time of fourteen hours (Oestergaard 5 6). The lengthy flight time
and catastrophic payload is a lifeline for our troops on the ground. These drones can be used for
both surveillance and direct contact situations. For example, if a special forces team... Show more

Scott Shane quotes Micah Zenko in his article when he says ... a total of eight Americans have
been killed in drone strikes. Of those, only one, the American cleric Anwar al Awlaki, who
joined Al Qaeda in Yemen and was killed in 2011, was identified and deliberately targeted
(Shane, Zenko 3). Shane is correct when he says that drones should not target Americans, but he
fails to mention why they were targeted. These eight Americans were killed because, they were
engaged in hostile activity towards the United States. Awlaki was a part of Al Qaeda and was
actively plotting to take down the United States. The other seven Americans were not innocent,
these people were killed in the blast of drone strikes that were targeting enemy combatants. They
were not hostages, but they were still in the immediate vicinity of they hostiles. The other seven
were just like Awlaki, they were there to join one of the terrorist groups we are at war with. That
is the only way that those citizens were that close to those enemies. The second argument against
the use of drones is that drone pilots are at risk of developing psychological disorders. Lindsay
Warrior, the author of Drones and Targeted Killing , says that [m]uch of the discussion surrounding
drones emphasizes the fact that their use reduces the risk of U.S.

  • 2. Women in Violent Relationships Throughout the years, there have been immense efforts to expand knowledge about the experiences women have endured in violent relationships. The emergence of internal, external risk factors, correlates, and causes of intimate partner violence has increased rapidly in recent decades. Although there has been a rise in many supportive groups, there are still various barriers that exist and prohibit women from seeking help to detach themselves from a violent relationship. In reading Roz story, I have learned of the many barriers to understand, why couldn t she just leave? Although this question may have no straight answer and may even have hindered implications, I feel that patriarchy plays a role in this intimate partner violence. The... She would feel a sense of guilt if she would leave the children. The children grew to love her, and Brian s behavior was not only affecting her but the children as well. She felt she needed to protect them from his violent way. Deep in her heart she felt that there would be one day when he could change, because she could see the good in him. Brian would use his charm on her, profess his immense love for her and she would again forgive him and stay in the relationship. It is obvious that Roz was brainwashed in believing Brian loved her in spite of his controlling and violent ways. Brian seemed to have total control of Roz. Brian seemed to have his own personal issues with dealing with the loss of his wife, taking care of four children by himself, and although the book does not reveal any other issues, it s quite evident that he had trust issues and insecurities of his own. His behaviors indicate that his violent ways is his way of being in power and control. He would use his grieving as an excuse for his behavior. His non violent actions were just as repetitive, his continued absence at home, no concern for his children, promiscuous behavior, his insensitivity to her needs in her time of illness and his accusations of mistrust were just as heartbreaking for Roz. • 3. Canadian Political Parties Choices made, whether bad or good, follow you forever and affect everyone in their path one way or another (Spredemann). This quote strongly relates to the issue on hand, if the new formed political parties had an affect on how Canada is now. Postmodern Views On The State Postmodern Views on the State Many societies have experienced post modernization as the de centralization of society, politics, and economy as well as the decline of the various dominant modernization paradigms, which structured industrial society both formally and informally in the past decades (Best and Kellner 1997; Drake 2010). In social are, for example, the ethnic or cultural bases of many nationalities have started to dissolve and societies have become more multiethnic, multicultural, fragmented and melting pots of various hybrid postmodern identities (Jessop 2015:157). In political era, scholars have advanced the end of ideology thesis during the end of the 1980s and especially with the collapse of the Soviet Communist Bloc. The liberalism, individualism, post modernist discourses were triumphant and announcing the dawn of a new era in which early ideological conflicts would disappear as a source of political conflict on the global scale (Fukuyama 1993). In economy field, at the start of the twenty first century, almost everyone can realize the significance of economy not just in deciding elections but also in shaping the broader processes of the state. With all this technology, it would be easy to use it for other things then what they were intended for. For example what if someone wanted to control what another person could do such as sleeping or going places. It would not not be that hard to try and control another human being, or even worse being watched every single moment of everyday for the rest of their life. That idea is not as farfetched as it may seem now with even more phones, computers, televisions and cameras in general. Technology is taking humanity nearer and nearer to world of Big Brother and the worse part is that if they are not careful, Big Brother could raise without any citizen ever knowing. In the novel 1984, by George Orwell, there is a society that has become a negative utopia, in where there is a party named Big Brother that watches over all of its people at all times using mainly their invention of the telescreen. When Stalin died things changed in the USSR, but it didn t fall. And notably, Yugoslavia remained (de facto) unified until 1992, twelve years after Tito s death. I m convinced that things happened the way they did because nationalism appealed to the people; MiloЕЎeviД‡ sought to keep Yugoslavia unified, but with Serbian supremacy, a promise which would have sounded good if you were a Serbian worried about the future of your people and your nation, and used heinous means to try to achieve his goal. • 10. Capital Punishment And Capital Involvement Capital punishment is an individual punishment to death for committing a crime. The history of capital punishment fluctuates worldwide, between different governments and beliefs. The current issue of capital punishment is taking lives without having a reliable reason to take them to the death penalty. One large and main issue is that capital punishmentbreaches, or breaks two essential human rights, which are the rights to life, and rights to living free of torture. This is a huge issue because an individual should not be able to surpass any conditions when the operations of the executions go against human rights. Another opposition of capital punishment is that many countries are sided with the penalties, however, the citizens of the country may think differently dependant on their religions and beliefs. The opposition between the government and the population in the country is another large issue because the diverse opinion only makes matters worse. Though many countries remain to argue that the punishments are beneficial, terminating the legal penalty would save thousands of lives. Discontinuing the penalties would benefit the whole world by cutting the large amount of taxes just for individual deaths, and the new adjustment would save lives from false reasons, and misunderstandings. • 11. Computer Generated Imagery And Its Effects Computer generated imagery was being developed during the 1980s and it soon started being used in films for effects. Rickitt (2006) explains that effects during the 80s were not just there to solve problems and producing impossible shots like their initial purpose but used as a marketing tool for films to promote themselves based on the quality of the image and amount of visual effects involved. Star Wars was the first filmto make use of this marketing tool and made people grow more interest on the film itself as well as the effects and of course, this brought more income to the studios. This trend of using effects to promote films was immediately picked up and abused, but it did not last long. Tron (1982) was the first film based almost entirely on computer generated scenery and massively advertised for them. However it ended up failing at the box office even though it had superb computer generated effects at the time of its release. Rickitt described that the failure of Tron could have been what made visual effects take longer to develop and being incorporated in films. This was the first sign that a film heavily equipped with effects does not mean that it would make a hit. Narrative is an important element of a film and effects cannot compensate for a bad narrative (McClean, 2007). After a decade of slow development, computer generated imagery made its appearance once more in Jurassic Park (1993) and changed the opinions directors and studios regarding visual effects. ... If a stranger were to listen to any conversations we were having about fantasy football, they may not understand some of the knowledge that is required of someone to contribute to the fantasy football domain. This is true because within a fantasy football league there are many different phrases and terminology that we would not use on a regular basis. I would like to start off by explaining what fantasy football is and how it works. Fantasy football is all about constructing a virtual team made up of NFL players. At the start of any football season, everyone who want to be in the fantasy league gets together to have a draft. These team owners proceed to pick NFL players that they want for their team. Depending on what league someone is in determines what type of players an owner can put on their team. Typically a starting team will consist of one quarterback, a couple receivers and running backs, a kicker, a tight end, and a team defense. The owner with the first pick starts, this is usually the manager of the league. After he picks a player from the NFL, the next owner will pick a player and it goes down the line until all the owners have one player on their team. To make this process fair the owner with the last pick gets the first pick in the second round of the draft and then it will go up the line to the owner who had the first pick, and after the owner with ... The Old Testament, in raising this question, also tries to answer it. In the first books there is little to no reference to good showing hatred or neglect towards humans and yet still they disobey him. Therefor a disappointed God can do nothing to prevent evilbecause it comes through human wickedness rather than any acts of God. The second issue of evil is the existence of undeserved evil such as pain. But this too is answered, we see God use natural evil as a means of showing man the ways they have corrupted the world or to display his power over man as seen in the Book of Job. This states that there seems to be not much trust in the college students and that they will probably not act as responsible as they should with a deadly weapon in their possession. If the students are trusted to carry a gun, then they should be responsible with that gun in hand. Other factors also come into play when considering whether students should be allowed to carry guns, such as drugs or alcohol could play a role in how students act. Although the Industrial Revolution brought many great devices in to the world, it also could have caused the accelerated climate change and warming that we saw throughout the 21st century. In fact, over the 900 years before the Industrial Revolution began, the average world temperature was in decline and the 1990s was the warmest decade on record. The introduction of the combustion engine characterizes the Industrial revolution more than any other invention because it was used for anything from textiles to automobiles. Not only does the combustion engine characterize the Industrial Revolution, but it also characterizes pollution. Air pollution is in direct relation to air quality, for which we have certain standards (Vallero, 2007, p. 3).
