Aa Meeting Observation
On May 8th, 2017, I attended an open Alcoholic Anonymous (AA) meeting that is hosted at the
main office of Consejo Counseling and Referral Services. Consejo facilities host an AA meetings
for its client, individuals who attend Columbia City Church of Hope, and people from the
community. The group meets at seven at night every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. The
participants of the AA meeting, hosted at Consejo, are from the Latino community and US born
individuals with Latino background. The meetingsare in Spanish. The participants that attended the
day I visited identify as Christians or Catholics, but the facilitator stated that all spiritual believes
are welcome. Some of the participants are undocumented. A couple of participants are involved...
I did explain my purpose about being on the meeting with the facilitator before the meeting
started, but the facilitator still called me out. I was glad that he called me out because I got the
chance to disclose to everyone my reasons to attend the meetings. However, I felt uncomfortable
because I am an introvert. I felt shy and anxious. I then realized that AA meeting can be
challenging to introvert and shy people, especially if they are forced to be there. As mentioned
early on the paper, some participants are forced to attend the AA meetings because they are
involved in the legal system. For shy people, an AA meeting cannot help them recover because it
consists of sharing with others. Shy people might feel pushed to their discomfort zone for them to
share, and get any benefit from an AA

The mouths of three major European rivers converge in the Netherlands: the Rhine, Maas (or
Meuse), and Schelde. The heritage of the Netherlands is equally interesting. Though the country
celebrates unique traditions, such as St. Nicholas Day a holiday based on the life of a generous
bishop the earliest recorded history comes from the time of the Roman Empire. The Romans built
forts and warred successfully against the natives of the region, known as Batavians. Later, the
Batavians rebelled. Though they ultimately lost, they gained a tax exempt status within the Empire.
The Dutch proudly consider the perky Batavians to be their founding fathers. Like the rest of
Europe, the region became a feudalistic society during the Holy Roman Empire. Pope Urban II s
encouragement in the late eleventh century led drew the Dutch into the crusades. Later, the
powerful Hapsburg family (1477 1515) entangled the country in religious wars and unsuccessful
struggles for emancipation from the Holy Roman Empire. Caught up in the aftermath of the
Reformation, the country even came under control of the Roman Catholic Philip II of Spain
