Thinking ethically is difficult without a background in moral philosophy. Asking people to embrace

The doing ethics technique The technique of analysis depends upon asking questions. It has
been found that the order in which the questions are asked is also important. The following
questions, in this order, have been found to work best (through trial and error over many
semesters). Q1 What is going on? What are the facts? Q2 What are the issues? Q3 Who is
affected? Q4 hence, What are the ethical issues and implications? Q5 What can be done about it?
What options are there? and Q6 Which option is best? and Why? Benefits An injunction to think
ethically about a situation is not helpful. Perhaps if one has a background in moral philosophy
this would work, but usually both students and IT professionals require some form of guidance as
to how to achieve an appropriate outcome. The technique has proven itself as a means to achieving
this, at least for PIIT students. This approach is not dependent on a particular standard, such as the
code of ethics of a particular professional society. It is a technique that can be applied in a variety
of circumstances, not limited by technological, cultural or religious background. The approach is
not limited by one s moral philosophy. One can use this technique effectively and be an objectivist,
holding that certain moral truths remain good independently of personal likes and dislikes, or a
relativist, holding that truths are relative to the individual

What Is The Main Issue In To Kill A Mockingbird
To Kill a Mockingbird is a book about the struggles and many issues that happened in the south
when racism was very big, and is seen through the eyes of a young girl. One of the issues Scout
doesn t understand is the idea of racism. The Ku Klux Klan was very popular during the time
period that the book takes place. Many events that took place in the book could have easily been
influenced by the Ku Klux Klan. It also explains the message they depicted against blacks. The Ku
Klux Klan originated in Pulaski, Tennessee. The goal of the KKK was to reestablish white
supremacy throughout the country. Anyone against blacks could easily be part of the Klan. The
government tried to stop the KKK in the early 1800Вґs, but failed. Its members waged an
underground campaign of intimidation and violence directed at white and black Republican
leaders. After a period of decline, white Protestant nativist groups revived the Klan in the early 20th
century, burning crosses and staging rallies, parades and marches denouncing immigrants,
Catholics, Jews, blacks and organized labor. The KKK beat and killed black political figures and
politicians. They also beat and whipped thousands of blacks to keep them from voting, and thinking

Racism was a big problem in the south in the 1930Вґs. The Ku Klux Klan did not help with the
problem including racism, and they actually made it worse. With the Klan, they were constantly
terrorizing people and going on killing sprees, honestly for no other reason than to prove who
they thought the superior race was, which were the white men and women. The KKK was so
popular during the time period of the book, it was almost impossible to not know who they were
and what they did. The feelings the Ku Klux Klan had against blacks was so easily identified, that
many events that took place in the story are thought to have been influenced by the Klan

Commonplace Book Report
What I have noticed through most of the entries in my commonplace book (especially the two
stated above) is that I mostly write down something when it induces a negative emotion from me
the quotes that rile me up and make me upset. And usually these are the quotes that remind me of
the hardships faced by women. As a woman, sexism is a prevalent issue in my life, so when I fight
against it, I am fighting for myself. When I came across the first quote, my mind instantaneously
conjured up an image of a mentally exhausted person who was beyond any point of functionality.
Unsurprisingly, the person I visualized was a woman. I ve noticed this pattern of associating
pain and struggle with women is a recurring theme in my life (and is also outlined in the second
quote). I know the first quote was used in the context of the gulag and the agony of its prisoners,
yet for me, it can also be applied to women, especially those who are victims of abuse. I find this
quote raw and emotional. It has come to symbolize women when they are completely broken, even
if this was not the context in which it was written. It shows what they can be tuned into. How in
certain circumstances they are forced to act on... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It captures why we need feminism. No matter how hard we try, it seems like women will never be
leveled with their male counterparts. Women are always seen as the ones that need protection,
the ones that need the jacket when it s cold. And this frustrates me to no end. I want women to
scream and be taken seriously. I want us to be in a position of power and be terrifying, be
something beyond the limitations of our physical beauty. I wrote down both these quotes because
they reminded me of how the world is more favorable towards men. And to me, these quotes are
undeniably connected, if only by a Gossamer thread, by the theme of women in pain despite their

The Pros And Cons Of Poverty Trap
What drives poverty? First, how does one country consider itself living in extremely poor
conditions? This can be answered by using tools like PPP or GDP per capita to distinguish
between poor and rich countries. However, the purpose of this paper is not to discuss which
country has the highest GDP, but rather to discuss the ability the poor obtain to boost their way out
of poverty. Are there certain limitations that poor people face that refrain them from growing or
is it just that the poor will always be poor? This paper will summarize main arguments of
mechanisms that give rise to poverty traps from the article, Do Poverty Traps Exist. Based on
these summaries, I will conduct further critical reviews on some and provide evidence to back my
opinion on the specific mechanism at hand.
To begin, one of the arguments first presented in the article give light to saving based poverty traps.
If one does not have enough money to save, they cannot achieve sufficient capital so in turn, their
incomes become stagnant. However, the study in the article argues that the saving rates do increase
from low levels of development. So in some cases, this poverty trap does not exist.
Secondly, the article also argues that a big push to the manufacturing sector can result in high
returns and high income levels in both the modern sector and traditional sector. While, only
investing in the traditional sector, which consists of agriculture, will only provide equalized wages
at a low level

The Case Against Police Brutality
It was unexpected day at home for Tino. After coming home from school, we got him a toy gun
as a gift. It was his birthday. He was really happy about it and running outside to brag it with his
friends. He was playing it in our front yard, while we were preparing for the party. We heard the
bang sound and the sound of the police car loudly in front of our house....... Many people believe
that police brutalityis out of control in America. The reasons for it is police are killing many
innocent people, they make people doesn t feel safe and it is unstoppable if we are not doing
something. Many of you have heard in the news that many innocent people have been killed by the
police. It s unacceptable for a police to killan innocent people with the reason is it a mistake.
Mistake can be acceptable in some situations, but in the situations that are killing people it s can t
not be a mistake. Police is responding to protect us, not to kill us. Even with a criminal they
arrested them, but not killed them. Police have the power to arrest criminal, hurt or even kill them
if they have to, but there are no reason for them to kill an innocent citizen. What is the true reason
for them to kill an innocent citizen? How do you feel when you know that you... Show more content

First Impressions In Seventh Grade By Gary Soto
First Impressions How important are first impressions? Some people may think first impressions
aren t important. In fact, they are extremely important. First impressions are the way you first
appear to someone, it s the way they think of you. These impressions can affect you later in life.
For example, in Gary Soto s short story Seventh Grade Victor, a seventh grade student, really
wants this girl, Teresa, to be his girl. Teresa is in his French class. The class gets their first
impression of Victor when Mr. Bueller asked if anyone spoke French. Victor raised his hand,
(37). Now everyone thinks Victor can speak French. Later in the story Teresa asks if he will help
her study, He was sweaty in shame, (38). Since she thought he could speak French, once Teresa
finds out he actually can t speak French their relationship could be ruined. If first impressions are
lies, not your true self, it can ruin your relationships with others later.... Show more content on

Miss Oriville snaps at them comes across as mean and strict. Since she stays a strict character
throughout most of the story, the student grew to dislike her more and more each day. They did
not like her so much to the point where which when the found out she was leaving, they want

A technician will perform a voltage and visual test of the battery. These tests can indicate if there
are other problems associated with other system components.
It is always recommended that that you seek the help of auto electricians in order to fully be aware
any electrical repairs that your diesel truck may require.
Your Truck s Alternator
Your diesel truck s alternator is what generates the electricity that is used to preserve battery storage
charge. It also assists in operating all of the other electrical accessories. This includes the engine and
ignition control systems. The alternator doesn t continuously generate electricity, but rather works
in sequences. It is recommended that your truck s electrical structure should be properly maintained
regularly.
When conducting electrical repairs on your diesel truck, an electrician should always check the
simple circuits first. Doing so will indicate any additional problems and can help you to avoid
replacing the alternator or eliminate any other electrical repairs.

Michigan state Senator Rick Jones, a republican from Grand ledge, the sponsor of 943 bills, and
a former employee of law enforcement is reaching to accommodate Michigan s speed limit. That
could mean a 75 80 mph speed limit on certain parts of the freeway, or even the adjustment of 55
mph on curves, and crowded areas with constrained visibility. His reasoning behind this proposal
is his belief that some communities are setting low speed limits on roads to increase ticket
dividend. His plan for this action is to leave the calculations for a better flowing freewaysystem to
the Michigan State Police. Their method would include using trafficdata to find the speed that 85

current employee for the Michigan Senate spoke to the same political science class at LCC, that
Rick Jones did. When asked what his thoughts were about Rick Jones, he laughed and replied
Well Wherever there is a camera, there his is. He explained that it is an ongoing joke at the

many Michigan highways can handle the higher speeds. His proposal was featured on WILX

Speech On Plastic
Plastic bags are hurting our environment and killing the wildlife. Plastic bags are taking over
the oceans. It is now believed that there are 5.25 Trillion pieces of plastic debris in our oceans
(www.1bagatatime.com). The equivalent of one dumb truck full of plastic enters the ocean
about every minute. Scientists now estimate that there will be more plastic in the ocean than
fish by the year 2020. For this reason alone, making the switch from plastic, to paper or cloth
reusable, bags are so important. The average American Family takes home almost 1,500 plastic
shopping bags a year (www.scholastic.com). Even though plastic bags are recyclable, about 5
percent of them are recycled. Most plastic bags eventually end up in landfills, where that can
remain for as long as 1,000 years. But first, or instead, many plastic bags become litter. To
encourage more recycling, some cities and states are passing laws requiring stores to provide
recycling bins for plastic bags. Plastic bags are destroying our environment and killing our
Wildlife. Tens of thousands of Whales, Birds, Seals and Turtles are killed every year from plastic
bags (www.prijatelji zivotinja.hr). They are mistaking these plastic bags as their food source.
Turtles think they are jelly fish floating in the water. Whales consume them as they are eating the
krill and other fish that they eat. In 1998, a pelican was found dead with 17 plastic bags in its
stomach. Another example of plastic bags killing

Essay on Abstinence-Only Sex Education does work.
Abstinence only Sex Education does work.
Teenage sexual activity has sparked an outcry within the nation. With such activity comes a high
price. Studies have shown that there has been a significant rise in the number of children with
sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), emotional and psychological problems, and out of wedlock
childbearing. Sex has always been discussed publically by the media, television shows, music and
occasionally by parents and teachers in educational context. Teens hear them, and as the saying
goes, monkey see, monkey do , they are tempted to experiment with it. Therefore, it is important for
every teenager to be aware of the outcome associated with premature sex. If students are educated

Programs that encourage abstinence have become a vital part of school systems in the US. These
programs are usually referred to as abstinence only or value based programs while other programs
are called as safer sex, comprehensive, secular or abstinence plus programs which on the contrary
promote the usage of effective contraception. Although abstinence only and safer sex programs
disagree with one another, their core values and stand on the aims of sex education is to help teens
develop problem solving skills and the skill of good decision making. They believe that
adolescents will be better prepared to act responsibly in the heat of the moment (Silva). Most
programs that have been currently implemented in the US have seen a delay in the initiation of sex
among teens which proves to be a positive and desirable outcome (Silva).
Statistics from recent studies suggest that only 13% of U.S. teens have ever had sex by the age of
15. But by the age of 19, seven in ten teens of both sexes have had sex. Between 1995 and 2006
2008, the percentage of teens aged 15 17 who had ever engaged in sexual intercourse declined from
38% to 28%. Among teens aged 18 19, it declined from 68% in 1995 to 60% in 2006 2008. The
pregnancy rate among young women has declined steadily from 117 pregnancies per 1,000 women
aged 15 19 in 1990 to 70 per 1,000 in 2005. However in 2006, the rate increased for the first time in

Write An Essay On Bioethanol From Ethanol To Brazil
Ethanol, also called ethyl alcohol or drinking alcohol, is an organic compound belonging to the
alcohol group. It could also be abbreviated EtOH. The hydroxyl, OH, functional group differentiates
the compound from the other organic compounds and hence shares some of the same physical and
chemical properties, with other alcohols. Ethanolis used as fuel, solvents and in alcoholic
beverages. It is also used as antiseptics, household cleaning products, varnishes and in alcohol
thermometers (Garcia). The molecular formula of ethanol is C2H6O, normally written as C2H5OH
or CH3CH2OH. The molar mass, boiling point and melting point of ethanol is 46.069g/mol,
78.29ВєC and 114.14ВєC, respectively (Ethanol). Ethanol is a colorless liquid with a slight odor,
soluble in water, flammable, volatile and evaporates easily when left in the open (Garcia). Brazil is

Bioethanol is made from renewable resources hence, it is infinite. It is greener and better for the
environment by producing fewer greenhouse gases. More planting of sugarcane meant more
uptake of CO2 and release of O2. Ethanol also produces six less molecules of carbon dioxide when
combusted versus gasoline, seen in the following equations. C2H5OH + 3 O2 пѓ 2 CO2 + 3 H2O
(ethanol combustion) versus C8H18 + 12.5 O2 пѓ 8 CO2 + 9 H2O (gasoline combustion). Finally,
a lot of countries can be self reliant because these countries can grow the crop and possibly
manufacture the fuel (Advantages). While there are many advantages, there is one major
disadvantage to worry about. This disadvantage is using it for fuel or food. Brazil does not really

Cultural Differences In Tayo s Ceremony
One of the main civic and moral lessons that is displayed throughout Edgar Huntly is the
mistreatment of the Native American culture by the hands of the white, privileged and superior
culture. This is something that is seen through the eyes of Edgar throughout the second half of the
novel, where he believes that the Native Americans are savages with no rules or responsibilities
who mindlessly killed those that he loved for fun, with no rational decision making abilities. The
irony that is found within this, is the fact that the savage, irrational killer turns out to be Edgar
himself, who convinces himself that he killed those Natives out of self defense in order to protect
himself from those who have no rational abilities to protect themselves.... Show more content on

Tayo struggles in defending his cultural identity because of his white and Native American
cultural background. The moral lesson that both novels struggle in properly addressing is the
ability to accept different cultures regardless of their background and accepting individuals
regardless. Edgar is judgemental based on the Native Americans lifestyles, not only because of
his own prejudices but also his own in regards to the message that has been established based on
his culture. This is not the same case for Tayo in Ceremony but the lack of cultural appreciation
and understanding of cultural differences is a problem that is addressed. The civic lessons that
are addressed involves personal responsibilities in serving justice and facing an entire
community independently instead of as a whole and a team. Edgar takes it upon himself to find
Waldegraves murderer, regardless of the fact that it is not his responsibility. He believes it is his
civic duty in order to bring forth justice. This civic responsibility is addressed in Ceremony, when
Tayo is forced into WWII, he is forced to bring justice to his country as apart of a team instead of a
sole individual against an entire

Descriptive Essay On The Sea World
A few years ago on a hot summer day, a short Asian boy stared at the sky at disbelief. A roller
coaster loomed over him, and the shadow of it cast over his face. In a few hours later, he found
himself strapped into a seat on the ride, terrified to death. And that short Asian boy turned out to
be me. Mom, my sister, Julianne, and I were at Sea World in San Antonio. Although we ve
already been there multiple times, she insists on going there. It probably has to do with us
having a membership and her being a cheap Asian mom. She wouldn t let us buy any food or
drinks, or any souvenirs. Except that dumb stuffed penguin that she bought Julianne that she
managed to rip in my room and make a huge mess that I had to clean up. Anyways, the shows at
Sea World are always the same, so we are left with a few choices, to rewatch the shows, go to
new animal exhibits, or go on some rides. We quickly went through the new exhibits, and between
all these exhibits were the two largest rides in the park. One of them was what I call the traditional
roller coaster, where it goes up slowly so you can enjoy the beautiful view of the park, then plunge
down suddenly, your heart filled with fear and your ears filled with screams. The other was even
worse. It twisted around and went upside down and then went to the moon. Suddenly, Mom
asked Would you like to ride any those rides? You seem really bored riding these kid rides with
Julianne? Two things popped up in my mind. The wimpy side of me was saying: No, there is no
way you are going on those roller coasters. The other side of me said: Sure, I don t want the only
teenager to be riding Big Bird s Ferris Wheel any more. It came out like this: Yeahno, sure, that
sounds great, no, shut up, me. It did not sound great. And yes, I did talk to myself. Then, she
bribed me with Hot Cheetos. I love Hot Cheetos more than anything. Sadly, finding any snack
food at my house is like finding an oasis in a desert, once I get closer, I realize there are no Hot
Cheetos. Once in a blue moon, Mom would buy a large bag of Hot Cheetos, and the day after the
blue moon, the bag will mysteriously disappear. And so I had to say yes. I haven t mooched on
the legendary snack food in what seems like decades.

The breathtaking marble stone is what composes the unique structure of the Capitol building, which

The Colosseum was one of Ancient Rome s biggest buildings, the architects carefully constructed
every little part of the building. Since the Colosseum was so large, plans such as paths for people
to come and go from the building were a critical part of the planning for the building process. While
creating these circulation paths, the architects had to keep in mind the separation of the Roman
classes, making sure not to have the high classes cross paths with the lower classes. Because of this
class structure, large buildings, like the Colosseum, gave people of all classes the opportunity to
enjoy a communal activity, reflecting the frugality of the Roman people. Another important factor
that was taken into consideration during the creation of Roman architecture was how to correctly
convey the values of the growing religious population in Rome. According to Churches and
Basilicas, the Roman empire was rapidly growing in religion because of Emperor Constantine s new
toleration for Christianity. Because of this increase in religious believers, churches were in high
demand, forcing the architects to create enormous buildings to worship in, while aiming to reflect
the values of Christianity. These churches helped influence the growing popularity of religion
throughout Rome, and the extravagant buildings attracted numerous followers, which, in return
helped religion to grow as a whole. Many centuries after these churches were built, numerous
churches all around the world were still being built with similar designs that were originally created
by the Romans. However, churches were not the only remarkable buildings that were being created
by Roman architects, and different types of buildings began to rise up on Roman

Cyber Security And The Cyber Threat
Introduction
Unfortunately, far two many organizations are unaware and unprepared to deal with the impact of
the cyber threat. With this in mine, security awareness training is economical and obvious choice
for organization of all sizes. Many companies invest heavily in cyber security education programs
for all employees to learn how to protect their computers and personal information and how to be
aware of the cyber criminals that sour the Web in search of targets and vulnerabilities. For the most
part the training should include educating users on security concepts such as be conversant with
social engineering attacks, malware attacks, what to post on face book, twitter, LinkedIn , phishing
tactics and other type of threat that are encountered in the work place (http;//net security.

. The goal for this training is to equip employees with knowledge and skills that need positive
change and eliminate the cycle of network security ignorance. Employees must be vigilant that
there are bad guys out there that want to steal sensitive information from an organization
(networksecurity.com) Brian Moynihan; CEO of the bank of American frequently speaks about the
challenges modern information services face. As mobile banking stay competitive and within

Medical documentation is important to know and complete properly to ensure that the office or
practice you are employed with does not get flagged during an audit. Paying close attention to detail
is key! Below are the steps you should follow when completing a patient s medical documentation:

Explore how Shakespeare and Orwell present forbidden love in Romeo and Juliet and 1984 .
Introduction
What is love? What are the main similarities and differences between the presentation of forbidden
love in 1984 and Romeo and Juliet? Relate briefly to the contexts of both texts.
Paragraph 1
Why does Romeo love Juliet? Why does Winston love Julia?
Look at how Romeo is attracted to Juliet for being beautiful and compare it to how Winston loves
Julia for her lack of purity. Explore this idea.
You could use the quotes:

Symbolism In Beata Rossetti
In a symbol there is concealment and yet revelation
Thomas Carlyle
Solving of the problem of love and death was an implication of the symbolists ideal view. On the
one side, passionate love, which boarders with being demРѕnic, that leР°ds lРѕvers to dРµath, Р°nd
the dРµath itself, that Рѕpens the doors to new life, making the lovers immortal. The idea of
expressing interrelation of these two concepts, crucially important for symbolism, that lies in the
artwork Beata Beatrix made by Dante Gabriel Rossetti.
The subject of this artwork is the scene from the emotionally autobiographical work of Dante
Alighieri La Vita Nuova , at the moment of Beatrice Portinari s death, who the author loved deeply.
Rossetti depicts the moment of Beatrice s death on her parents balcony in 1290, however, for the
artist this scene means much more, than just a visual interpretation of a scene from a book.

spiritual connection between Beatrice and Dante (the parallel between Elizabeth and Rossetti also
may be drawn).
At the background next to Dante we can see a sundial that shows 9 o clock. This number famous
author (Alighieri) connects to Beatrice s life and death in a mystical way several times throughout

Descriptive Essay About The Winter Concert
The sound of a dying cow, croaking its last breath . That was what my dad called the sound of me
playing my clarinet. Don t get me wrong, I love playing the clarinet and always tried my best, but
3rd grade me was not that talented. To specify, I sounded truly horrible. All the beginner band
students (including me) had thoughtthey were the best of the best. The greatest musicians in the
world. Of course, as you may know, 1st year players were nowhere near perfect no less
professionals. And this leads me to my school first concert of the year; The Winter Concert. We
could not call it the Christmas concert as I went to a public school. This was even though 95%
of the kids were Christian/White and most of the songs we sang and played were Christmas
jingles. So, to continue, one of the songs we played other than the obvious jingle bells, was hot
cross buns. Clearly no concert is perfect and by far, we screwed it up. By the end, none of the
parents watching could tell the difference between the song and the squeaks that were over
powering the song . To conclude the concert, everyone s parents came up to each of their sweet
little kids and gave them flowers, hugs, and kisses. Mine came over and said, You guys sounded
like a herd being led to the slaughter house . Nah, just kidding said they loved it. Their inner
thoughts may have been a little different though. My 7th birthday was the first birthday I
actually celebrated with invited friends. Of course my parents were cheap and we had it at the park
instead of places like funtopia or chuckee cheeses, but it was fine. Really it was JUST FINE! I AM
NOT MAD! Just joking, I actually really enjoyed it. Most of the kids just came for the free pizza
and goodie bags at the end, but didn t we all at one point. I remember one time a group of me
and my friends went to this B day party of a girl we all hated... and avoided her the entire time!
Ahhh, the good old days where every kid was a bull, even to their fake friends, and no one got in
trouble. Back to what I was saying, so my party was all yay yay glitter, pink, sparkles, etc. until
my brothers came. Okay, so I have two brothers, one who is a year younger and one that s two
years younger. You might think aww

Misogyny In The Canterbury Tales
The Church during the Middle Ages was responsible for generating a great deal of the anti feminist
theology, which perpetuated the subjugation of women. The Medieval Church taught that women
were inferior to men and that they should be compliant and obedient to their fathers and husbands.
The Canterbury Tales give insight into the society of the time including social structure,
relationships among different genders and classes, and the cultural rules and limits. By depicting
the disproportionate relationship between men and women during the fourteenth century, Chaucer
confirms his beliefs of misogyny and the portrayal of women as passive objects.

The sin of greed encompasses the desire for more power and attention than ordinary as one s

Emotional Intelligence And Social Pressures
Emotional intelligence exposes an individual s ability to regulate their emotions, in an attempt to
acknowledge their partner s perspective and convey intimacy and commitment in their relationship.
In the framework of marriage, I do agree with the author that emotional intelligence may exist as the
glue that holds a marriage together, as individuals must retain an aptitude to illustrate compassion
and empathywith their partner. According to the text, evidence of a steady erosion of social
pressures the stigma surrounding divorce, or the economic dependence on wives on their husbands
that used to keep couples together in even the most miserable of matches surfaces (Goleman, 2005,
p. 129). Due to societal deviations, couples no longer uncover themselves in an obligation to
continue their marriages when confronting undesirable situations. Because obligations no longer
keep couples together, emotional intelligenceimportance amplified. The general challenge with
marital emotional intelligence subsists as genderdifferences. In fact, emotional differences, while
they may be partly biological, also can be traced back to childhood, and to the separate emotional
worlds boys and girls inhabit while growing up (Goleman, 2005, p. 130). Due to the dissimilarity in
childhood worlds, I agree with the author that we need to make a point of talking to boys, in
particular, about emotional intelligence. Originating in elementary school, society articulates that
males must conceal

Comparing The Soldier by Rupert Brooke and Dulce Et...
Comparing The Soldier by Rupert Brooke and Dulce Et Decorum Est by Wilfred Owen
World War I, probably the most horrible of modern wars, inspired some of the most beautiful and
powerful poetry of the 20th century. Two very good examples are The Soldier by Rupert Brooke
and Dulce Et Decorum Est by Wilfred Owen, both were written before and during the this war.
Rupert Brooke was a well educated English man who lived the enthusiasm of the whole country
when the war started. He wrote this and many other poems with the illusion of a very short war
with a happy ending. He joined the army and went to war. However, he didn t have the chance to

Brooke poem tell us about the good things of dying and even sounds perfect to died in a war and
Owen portrays the image of grotesque death in the field during the war. This difference is mainly
due to what poets experience. It is probable that if Brooke had experience war his poems could
have change of point of view.
The structure and the language both poems have very little similarities and many differences. One
similarity is the consistency of their rhyme scheme. Both poems have a regular rhyme scheme, this
is because… The language Owen s use in the poem is very informal and colloquial. For
example when he wrote Drunk with fatigue; deaf even to the hoots / of disappointment shells that
drop behind . The poem doesn t have a formal stanza laid out, the first stanza has eight verse and
the third only two verses. By not using ceremonial words and not having formal stanza laid out,
Owen try to point us again that the war is not elegant or has formal structure. Brooke poem is quite
different, he is language and the structure of the poem is very formal. This suggests that his way of
thinking of war is very formal and by some means without suffering.
Dulce et Decorum Est is full of similes and metaphors, For example, Bent double like old beggars,
under sacks/ knock kneed, coughing like hags or his hanging face, like devil s sick of sin the

Internal Medicine Personal Statement
My first introduction to Internal Medicine was even before starting kindergarten, when as a
young kid I used to visit my dad s clinic. I was always fascinated by the compassion my dad had for
the sick and grief stricken and the sense of joy and happiness he experienced when he used to see
them on the way to recovery. 30 years down the line I graduated from the same medical schoolas
my dad. One of the proudest moment for me and him alike.
In our folklore it says that the great riders never fall, but even greater are those who ride having
experienced the fall. Failure is the greatest teacher and I experienced it first hand when I lost an
extremely uphill battle to get a spot into medical school. The ground shook beneath my very feet.
All my life I worked hard to fulfill the dream of being a physician, pursuing anything else was not

Ancient Aliens and Ancient Astronaut Theory Mark P. Robertson Educational Planning Course

topic. The claims of Intelligent Extraterrestrial Life visiting the Earth in ancient times and
profoundly affecting the development of Human civilization, is a controversial subject, at best.

Noah s was then instructed to repopulate, and implement species back on the Earth. Looking at the
Bible s story of Lot , also in Genesis, Von Daniken suggests that the two angels who visited lot were
not actually angels, but ancient astronauts, who used atomic weapons to destroy the city of Sodom.
Another ancient astronaut proponent and writer, Marc Dem, totally reinterprets the Book of
Genesis by claims that humanity started on another planet, and that God of the Holy Bible is
actually a spaceman. And, in stark contrast to popular belief, Jesus Christ, God s Son, is an Extra
Terrestrial, because He is essentially not of this planet. Several chapters of the Old Testament have
God depicted as travelling with clouds of smoke and fire, along with loud, trumpet like sounds. The
Book of Enoch tells of flying objects and beings (the Watchers) that descended from Heaven to
Earth. Enoch is said to have been taken on journeys around the Earth in these flying objects, and
even travels to the heavens. In support of the A.A.T., many theorists say that the sightings of U.F.O.
s throughout history are the actual creators of humanity who periodically, but in frequency, are
returning to Earth to check up on their creations . Put aside the many proponent s depictions and
interpretations of the ancient writings and artifacts, and there is no substantially hard evidence
existing to support this ancient aliens/ancient astronaut hypothesis. This

The Importance Of Parent And Child Relationships
Amongst many of the important relationships formed between people throughout life, a parent and
a child s relationship is the most important. Parent and children relationships are formed from
either one s biological parent or their adopted parents. The relationship between these two types of
formation are always formed. It s obvious this relationship will be life lasting, since a person s
parents will always be involved in their life. The factors that play out when these relationships first
start to form are, the social, physical, and cognitive development. The term parentchild relationship
refers to the unique and enduring bond between a caregiver and his or her child. To understand the
parent child relationship, we must look at the ways that parents and children interact with one
another physically, emotionally, and socially. (Dance Schissel 2017)
Over time theories have arisen that parents are teachers to their children. In other words, what a
child learns comes from their parents first, and then other influences throughout their life. Lev
Vygotsky viewed parents as masters and the child as an apprentice in learning. (Dance Schissel
2017). Diana Baumrind researched that parenting styles come from three different types.
Authoritarian, are parents that are very strict, unbending and inflexible. These types of parents tend
to control every aspect of their children s life. The second parenting style she came up with was,
authoritative parents are firm, loving and kind.

Essay On Slip In Nb
h.Active Slip Systems in Nb
Slip during plastic deformation is the underlying mechanism that accounts for many of the
phenomena previously discussed. This section will cover fundamental studies on slip in Nb, along
with general theories on deformation in bcc metals.
In the cavity fabrication process, crystal orientations, active slip systems, dislocation sub structure,
and recrystallization during annealing are interrelated from the metallurgical point of view [20] slip
behavior depends on how crystals are oriented with respect to the applied stress; slip and
interactions of slip systems result in a certain dislocation substructure; the dislocation substructure
determines how recovery and recrystallization proceed during heat ... Show more content on

Since the motion of screw dislocations is thermally activated, it will likely occur by nucleation of
kink pairs on well defined atomic planes [70]. The kink pair nucleation mechanism gives rise to the
temperature and strain rate dependence of flow stresses in bcc metals [70].
The low mobility of bcc screw dislocations can be partly explained by the core relaxation theory
[48, 72 76]. A bcc screw dislocation core tends to spread onto three symmetric {110} or {112}
planes, which results in a non planar core structure and hinders the movement of screw
dislocations [70]. Consequently, screw dislocation mobility is affected by non glide shear
stresses, which is a violation of the Schmid law. The relaxation also adds to the waviness of slip
traces, as cross slip can occur on two alternating {110} or {112} planes to roughly follow a slip
plane with a high resolved shear stress. Thus, long and drawn out screw dislocations are usually left
behind during plastic deformation and are observable [48].
There has been no consensus thus far regarding the core structure of screw dislocations in Nb, but
it is generally agreed that the core relaxation depends on both the temperature and purity [70, 77
79]. Seeger argued that fundamental slip planes change from {110} at low temperatures ( slip
systems could leave behind sessile dislocations with the resulting Burgers vector on a

contain a rich macroinvertebrate fauna. A total of 1,618 sample were collected, dominated by
oysters (58.03%), pectinids (12.54%), echinoids (5.68%), bivalves (14.77%), and gastropods
(8.96%) (Fig. 39). Instead of their great abundance they surprisingly show a low diversity, and they
are randomly distributed all over the successions (Figs.12, 13, 15, 17). But it is noticeable that the

Plateau Member was dominated by gastropods (Fig. 12). In order to understand the paleoecology

abovementioned faunal groups will be discussed.

Symbolism And Symbolism In Wan Echo Sonnet By Robert Pack
In ВЁAn Echo SonnetВЁ by Robert Pack, he was able to develop a clear message with his
carefully structured poem. By employing a Shakespearean Sonnet form and a rhyming echo that
answers the question raised by the voice, Pack revealed that the echo was the voiceВґs alter ego.
Through the use of structure and other literary elements such as personification, imagery, and
symbolism, the author developed the idea that although one might have insecurities about the
future, it is important to take the ВЁleapВЁ of faith in order to truly be alive.
In the first quatrain, the author starts off with general questions about life that helps characterize
the voice. In the first sentence, the voice wonders if he is able to start from nothingness. This
could be an indication for either low aspiration or being too scared to take any actions for
progression. To answer this, the echo replies with ВЁstartВЁ. In order to progress on this empty
page, everyone must start somewhere and take that one small step. The voice then worries about
the outcome of life by juxtaposing joy and grief. The echo replies that grief is an outcome of life
because it is not trying to conceal the inevitable truth. This introduction presents the voice as being
insecure and anxious as he tries to understand the meaning of life and an echo that is direct.
The next four lines address death with symbolism and personification to establish the idea of not
fearing the unknown future. In line 5, the voice talks about the life cycle

limitation of the source is that the speech doesn t show both sides of imperialism. This is because

Glass can also hold fingerprints which can be very valuable to an investigation as the
fingerprints can be taken up on tape and then ran through a database, possibly finding a match
and allowing the investigators to find and capture a suspect. Weapons, pray bars, blunt objects,
clothing, and shoes are where paint chips from door, walls, and furniture can be found. In order
for paint to chip off there needs to be a pretty serious struggle or a pretty hard force that will chip
away at the paint then causing it to land somewhere that the suspect forgot about. The Crime
Scene labs have about forty thousand different types of paint in their database. The majority of
paint chips are from hit and run cases involving automobiles. Dust and Dirt can determine many
things to help an investigation along. It can tell the investigators where a person has been,
where they work, where they live, and if they have pets in the house. Most soil samples will
come from the top soil and only need to be a little bit over a tablespoon to be processed. Pollen is
also included in this as it is a subtype of dust and dirt Pollen allows the investigators to know if
they suspect or victim were outdoors, and if so where they could have been. Firearms that are left
behind at a crime scene can be extremely helpful. This evidence includes not only the firearm itself
but also the ammunition used in the firearm, componets that make up the firearms, and the residue
that comes out when the

First, current payout policies directly increase payout ratio by issuing large amount of new shares.
High payout ratio shows that the company has to spare a large amount of cash to pay dividends
rather than invest in more profitable projects.
In addition, given that dividends per share climbed slightly, earnings per share dropped greatly
from 1.29 to 0.91, meaning current payout policies limit the value of shareholders.
Although riskier, debt financing helps company have a better financial structure and because Blaine
Kitchenware refuses to do so, we agree that their capital structure and pay out policies are not the
most appropriate for the firm.
2. Advantages and disadvantages of large share repurchase proposal
The large share repurchase should be recommended to Blaine s board. The followings are
advantages of share repurchase.
First, a large share repurchase will significantly increase shareholders percentage ownership of
BKI. BKI has been under levered for decades. The company acquisitions of several small
manufacturers made shareholders equity be diluted even more. In other words, shareholders,
especially the main shareholders in Blaine s board, are paying for BKI s over liquidity. This
share repurchase will not only give the board more flexibility to allot dividends, but will lead to a
stable development of BKI s business in the long run.
In addition, practically, conducting a large share repurchase by

Construction Of An Underground Network Of Tunnels
Introduction
In the 1850s over 400,000 tonnes of waste and sewage was being discharged into the River
Thames each day. By 1858 the stench from the raw sewage around and within the Thames was
named the Great Stink . It was a Civil Engineer named Joseph Bazalgette who proposed a plan of
the creation of an underground network of tunnels, to put an end to the polluted river. His
engineering feat has been improved and extended vastly but the Victorian Sewers still stand as
London s primary sewer system. The sewers were designed to be a combined system meaning
rainwater and waste were transported in the same manner. Bazalgette designed Combined Sewage
Overflow (CSO) points along the Thames. The CSO s discharged the sewage and rainwater into
the Thames after substantial rainfall, this prevented flooding the streets and houses. When
designing the sewers, population increase was taken into consideration. (16) The underground
system and factories were designed to treat and transfer sewage of up to double the population
that was present when construction began. However the population of London almost
quadrupled from 2.35 Million in 1850 (19) to 8.17 million in 2011(7). This drastic increase
meant that the sewers were overloaded. The CSO s were overflowing with only 2mm of rainfall
and on average discharging into the Thames around twice a week. The head of Thames Water Phil
stride, said Currently, 32 million cubic metres of storm sewage overflows from London s Victorian
sewers into

NCIS Season 12
In a little more than two weeks, television s most watched show returns to our screens. NCIS has
had quite the season last year as the team faced a dangerous mercenary, dealt with tough
challenges in the character s private lives and ended with children being used by terrorists and
Gibbs getting shot as a result. Before the show returns on September 22, it s time to look back at
season 12 and look ahead to the new season. I will start this article with a brief recap of the main
events of last season, then do a review of last season and finally I will look at the information we
have for season 13.
Recap of season 12
The first half of season 12 saw the team being hunted by Russian mercenary Sergei Mishnev. He
first stirred trouble in the season premiere when he shot down a helicopter with Gibbs, McGee and
a few others. Guided by the NCIS team in DC and Russian Counselor Anton Pavlenko, the teame
made it through a tense hunt in the Russian forest. In the end, Gibbs shot Sergei, however, it turned
out to be a non fatal gunshot and Sergei ends up on the NCIS most wanted ... Show more content on

They investigated a terrorist group known as The Calling, which recruited young children
through the internet. This resulted in a boy named Bradley nearly blowing up a bus, while
Gibbs did his best to prevent another boy named Luke to get under the influence of The Calling.
One of the group s leaders, Daniel Budd, later sets up a series of s mines at a hotel in Cairo,
which killed NCIS Agent Ned Dorneget. This led to Dorneget s mother, CIA Officer Joanna
Teague, joining NCIS to help take down The Calling. While they tracked down Sadiq Samar,
another one of their leaders, The Calling took Luke to Iraq. When Gibbs, Joanna and Tony made
the trip to Iraq to get Luke back, they didn t realize it was a trap. As Daniel called Tony to taunt
him, Luke put two bullets in Gibbs leg and chest, ending season 12 on a

The author of Be Sure You re Right, Then Go Ahead : The Davy Crockett Gun Craze is by Sarah
Nilsen. The purpose of the article is to give detail of how Davy Crockett became the emblem
that was known for guns and coon skin hats. The author does not specifically identify the
purpose of the article. The purpose is well stated in the detail given about how the legend
became a legend and what part Walt Disney played in it. The war, families, television shows, toy
makers, and any other company that could profit from Davy Crockett and The Wild Frontier
played a major role in making Davy such a legend. A key point from the article are how the NRA

Examples Of Fallacy Of Hasty Generalization
1.Please re examine the way the conclusion was written. Is the statement of the conclusion biased?
Is the definition of the key terms neutral and acceptable? Or is it controversial? Is there a need to
revise the statement of the conclusion?
The way the conclusion was written is unbiased for it was clearly presented and stated. The terms
are evidently defined as well and so, no further revision of the conclusion is needed.
2.Next, re examine the claim of the conclusion: If it is an empirical generalization, then challenge it
by demanding the required evidence for many, most or all claim in the premises set. If the required
evidence for the generalization was not offered in the premise set, then reject the argument for
having committed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You know that generalizations can be challenged by citing that the observed cases are not
representative of the population or that the sample is not large enough, hence the fallacy of hasty
generalization is made.
Premises 1, 2 and 3 prove the generalization since both were able to satisfy the requirement of the
term some that at least one reported case of a child negatively affected by television viewing be
presented. Hence, fallacy of hasty generalization is not made.
b. Another tactic is to demonstrate that the observed cases are biased because they were not
observed in every possible variety of time, place and circumstance and that a thorough search for
counter examples was not done.
Unfortunately, there were no scientific studies presented about how people from different places
around the world and how people from different age groups respond to the effects of television
watching. The genetic makeup of people varies hence, the conclusion may not be true to some.
c. Then, to clinch your point, produce the counter example. Caution: a counter example applies
only to an all claim; but very few are aware of this. You could use this to your advantage. In
contrast, to challenge a most claim you need many counter

Alvarez Hypothesis
The Alvarez hypothesis is the most popular hypothesis, there is to be for the extinction of the
dinosaurs. This is due to the fact that this theory has lots of scientific proof to support its theory.
There is a crater that is approximately 150 kilometers in width. Experts have analyzed this crater
and have come to a conclusion that an asteroid that had a width of 10 kilometers crashed at
Chicxulub on the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico around about 65 million years ago (this around the
same time the dinosaurs went extinct. (Pilkington, 2001)
If the asteroid had hit, most of the cretaceous plants would have been destroyed thus the dinosaurs
at the bottom of the food chain would soon have died due to lack of food. This led to the dinosaurs

Experts have found extra iridium (an element) in the soil asteroids are commonly known to have
extra iridium. The theory is that once the asteroid hit the surface of the earth fragments of the
asteroid were spread around. (Pilkington, 2001)
Experts have found fractured crystals also known as shocked quartz between the soil layer that was
close to the time of the extinction of the dinosaurs. These crystals have arrangement in them which
can only be made by great collisions or eruptions. (Pilkington, 2001)
The soil layer from the time of the extinction of the dinosaurs has been analyzed by experts and
they have found a lot of ash. This is another sign that, after the asteroid hit the Earth, there was a
massive fire that took out most of the plants and trees on Earth. (Hartmann, n.d)
Experts have calculated that an asteroid of the size that hit the Earth 65 million years can hit the
Earth approximately every 100 million years. (Hartmann, n.d)
There are theories that remains of the asteroid caused a storm filled with fireballs in the sky, which
led to temperatures increasing. In some places the temperature reached boiling point which would
have kill quite a few animals and plants. There are also theories that the high temperatures could
have started enormous

The Importance Of Computers And Technology
Computers and technology has evolved over the years and has come useful but there are many
reason that contract the good. Due to all this technology changed over the time, you can see that
human interaction has stopped and it has failed to fill our needs of education. What I mean by this
is that we are really not being educated but take what others put online and automatically believe it
is right. Instead of researching and making your own conclusion. Another reason to why computers
and technology is not good for society is because it has become very dangerous and harmful in
many ways.
Due to the growth and expansion of technology, on a daily basis now you can see less human
interaction compared to when we barely had any type of technology. A great example of this we
you go out to eat now, you usually see families and couples that are the tables on their phones.
When they can be talking communicating with each other and some even just text each other being
at the same table even though can say whatever they have to say right there. There was a study
done in 2012, in fact, scientists at the Chinese Academy of Sciences found that the brain chemicals
of people who habitually used the Internet (and were perhaps addicted to it) had abnormal
connections between the nerve fibers in their brain (CNBC News). We are becoming very addicted
to technology because now we can not live without them. It has caused us, not to use our brain to
think but allowing someone or a device to do

Chemical Element Essay
Element: Lithium
Lithium and Its Basic Characteristics
The chemical element Lithium (Li) has an atomic number 3and is the first member of the Alkali
metal family. This element is also the least dense of all the metals about half of the density of
water. Lithium is a very soft silvery metal that has a melting point of 180.54Лљc and a boiling point
of 1,335Лљc. This is an active element but nit as active as the other Alkali metals. This element
reacts slowly on a water having a room temperature and rapidly at high temperatures. Also, lithium
reacts with most acids that gives off hydrogen gas but does not react with oxygen. Under conditions,
lithium is combined with sulfur, hydrogen, nitrogen and halogens. There are two naturally
occurring isotopes; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In his studies, he could not identify 10% of the mineral. He then concluded that the missing 10%
must be a new element. He called the element Lithium , from the greek word Lithos which means
stone. He was not able to produce lithium. About a year later, however, Swedish chemist William
Thomas Brande (1788 1866) and English chemist Sir Humphry Davy (1778 1829) were both able
to extract the pure metal from its compounds.
Occurrence or Relevance in Nature
The abundance of Lithium in the Earth s crust is estimated to be about 0.005 percent that places it
among the top 15 elements found here in Earth. Aside from spodumene, petalite, and lepitdolite,
lithium is also obtained from saltwater. Lithium metal as well as its compounds have great uses.
Two of the most significant applications are in the Glass and ceramic field and in the production of
aluminum. The first commercial use of aluminum was in the production of alloys early lithium
alloys included lead and were used to make tough ball bearings for machineries.

Summary Of Gun Control
This week, I chose an article about gun s control.
The article was written by Kelin Emmett and reviewed by Firmin DeBrabander .
Their opinion contradicts the opinion of some in saying that the right to have a weapon makes a
society free. The authors accuse the fear to make it pro gun. This is not freedom. The authors also
criticize the media by encouraging fear. The article claims that the communities most affected by
violence approve the control of the guns, and the areas least affected by violence often celebrated
the guns as emblematic of freedom.
My opinion about the subject of this article is:
I agree with the authors about having the power to have a gun don t give you freedom. If you want
a gun, this means you have a fear of something

Michael Jackson Overcoming Obstacles
Michael Jackson
Have you ever had to overcome obstacles? I know I have. Michael Joseph Jackson was born on
August 29,1958 in Gary, Indiana. He lived in a small house with eight other siblings(Pratt,16).
Growing up Michael s family learned music through watching and hearing their father, but many
things with their father took a big turn. As life continued, Joe Jackson took interest in his boys
musical talent and started a band called, The Jackson 5.
They began doing small gigs to opening acts for many big top artists. Soon they began to hit the
charts, becoming the big talk of the town and a big hit with and for Motown Records. As all things,
they must come to an end. The Jackson 5 went their separate ways, only one continued their big

Joe Jackson was known for being too violent to his children. He was known for hitting the kids
regularly for disobeying(Pratt, 18). Growing up Michael and his siblings weren t allowed to
play with kids in the neighborhood and they were very afraid of him(Pratt, 18). His father
whooped his son for popping a string on his guitar and that was the night they became a musical
group. When they started to have stardom every decision was made through their father. When
you re a show business child, you really don t have the maturity to understand a great deal of
what is going on around you. People make a lot of decisions concerning your life when you re
out of the room. So here s what I remember. I remember singing at the top of my voice and
dancing with real joy and working too hard for a child. Of course, there are many details, I don t
remember at all. I do remember the Jackson 5 taking off when I was eight or nine, Michael Jackson.

Mental Health In The Film My Friend Dahmer And The Fire...
Mental health is a heavy topic of conversation in general. People still struggle with grasping a real
understanding of what mental health is and how it effects a person in their daily life. Due to the
already limited understanding of mental health, it is often glamorized or portrayed in an over
exaggerated manner with heavy influence on the close ups and different kinds of camera angles in
order to express the insanity of a particular character or characters. The films My Friend Dahmer
and The Fire Within, a French film directed by Louis Malle, introduce characters with mental
illnesses in different eras of Hollywood media. The two films utilize cinematography and narrative

While movies, newspapers, magazines, television shows, books, radio programs, and

usually [tends] to be a misrepresentation of the experience (Corrigan 201). This has a major
negative impact on people suffering from mental illnesses because they feel sentiments of
societal scorn and discrimination which ultimately leads to diminished self esteem, fear of
pursuing one s goals, and loss of social opportunities (Corrigan 201). There seems to be a revival
in the world of movies and television of depicting forms of exploring the minds of serial killers
which started in the 60s with the creation of the Horror film genre. There is almost a strange
fascination amongst audiences to know more about the minds of murderers and those who are too
sick to see the wrong they are doing. Films depicting mental health have a great impact on the lives
of those suffering from mental illness and also the perceptions of those who do not suffer from
mental illness. The mostly negative stigma surrounding those who suffer from mental disorders
gives them a bad reputation that impacts most aspects of their lives. My Friend Dahmer explores

So how do you know which one is right for your business or industry with so many different
shapes, sizes and capacities? Bigger is not necessarily better; the right one for you depends upon
your needs. Let s explore some of the common uses of these vehicles to see which one could best
serve your company s needs!
Orchard The right vehicle for this very original usage of the bucket truck is probably pretty
simple, basically requiring that the boom be sufficiently long to reach the top height from which
the fruit will be harvested. One option to consider would be if you want the worker to be able to
operate from the bucket to move from one part of the tree to another since such control can be done
either from inside or outside of the bucket.
Electrical and communications industry Electrical services use bucket trucks to repair electric lines
as do workers in the fields of telephone and cable. Needs for these industries would include one or
two person buckets made of non conductive material; customized containers or compartments to
store necessary tools; booms sufficiently long to reach the tallest operating heights; and controls
that suit the needs of the

to fish, aquatic invertebrates, oysters, and shrimp. It is highly recommended that the product not
be allowed to come in contact with any water sources such as storm drains, drainage ditches,
gutters, or surface waters. It is also suggested that cypermethrin should be applied if possible
when rain is not predicted for the next 24 hours to help ensure that the pesticide is not
inadvertently spread. According to the npic (national pesticide information center) Men who
voluntarily ingested low doses of cypermethrin in corn oil excreted between 49 78 percent of
cypermethrin within 24 hours.(Cypermethrin) This leads to the conclusion that cypermethrin is
unlikely to accumulate in the body. As far as chemical properties zeta cypermethrin has the
following characteristics. A molar mass of 416.30 g/mol, a pH of 4.44 using a 1% solution. The

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 127 AJIS vol. 10 no. 2 May 2003 The doing ethics technique The technique of analysis depends upon asking questions. It has been found that the order in which the questions are asked is also important. The following questions, in this order, have been found to work best (through trial and error over many semesters). Q1 What is going on? What are the facts? Q2 What are the issues? Q3 Who is affected? Q4 hence, What are the ethical issues and implications? Q5 What can be done about it? What options are there? and Q6 Which option is best? and Why? Perhaps if one has a background in moral philosophy this would work, but usually both students and IT professionals require some form of guidance as

This approach is not dependent on a particular standard, such as the code of ethics of a particular professional society. It is a technique that can be applied in a variety of circumstances, not limited by technological, cultural or religious background. The approach is not limited by one s moral philosophy. One can use this technique effectively and be an objectivist, holding that certain moral truths remain good independently of personal likes and dislikes, or a relativist, holding that truths are relative to the individual ... • 5. What Is The Main Issue In To Kill A Mockingbird To Kill a Mockingbird is a book about the struggles and many issues that happened in the south when racism was very big, and is seen through the eyes of a young girl. One of the issues Scout doesn t understand is the idea of racism. The Ku Klux Klan was very popular during the time period that the book takes place. Many events that took place in the book could have easily been influenced by the Ku Klux Klan. It also explains the message they depicted against blacks. The Ku Klux Klan originated in Pulaski, Tennessee. The goal of the KKK was to reestablish white supremacy throughout the country. Anyone against blacks could easily be part of the Klan. The government tried to stop the KKK in the early 1800Вґs, but failed. Its members waged an underground campaign of intimidation and violence directed at white and black Republican leaders. After a period of decline, white Protestant nativist groups revived the Klan in the early 20th century, burning crosses and staging rallies, parades and marches denouncing immigrants, Catholics, Jews, blacks and organized labor. The KKK beat and killed black political figures and politicians. They also beat and whipped thousands of blacks to keep them from voting, and thinking ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Racism was a big problem in the south in the 1930Вґs. The Ku Klux Klan did not help with the problem including racism, and they actually made it worse. With the Klan, they were constantly terrorizing people and going on killing sprees, honestly for no other reason than to prove who they thought the superior race was, which were the white men and women. The KKK was so popular during the time period of the book, it was almost impossible to not know who they were and what they did. • 6. Commonplace Book Report What I have noticed through most of the entries in my commonplace book (especially the two stated above) is that I mostly write down something when it induces a negative emotion from me the quotes that rile me up and make me upset. And usually these are the quotes that remind me of the hardships faced by women. As a woman, sexism is a prevalent issue in my life, so when I fight against it, I am fighting for myself. When I came across the first quote, my mind instantaneously conjured up an image of a mentally exhausted person who was beyond any point of functionality. Unsurprisingly, the person I visualized was a woman. I ve noticed this pattern of associating pain and struggle with women is a recurring theme in my life (and is also outlined in the second quote). I know the first quote was used in the context of the gulag and the agony of its prisoners, yet for me, it can also be applied to women, especially those who are victims of abuse. I find this quote raw and emotional. It has come to symbolize women when they are completely broken, even if this was not the context in which it was written. It shows what they can be tuned into. How in certain circumstances they are forced to act on... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It captures why we need feminism. No matter how hard we try, it seems like women will never be leveled with their male counterparts. Women are always seen as the ones that need protection, the ones that need the jacket when it s cold. And this frustrates me to no end. I want women to scream and be taken seriously. I want us to be in a position of power and be terrifying, be something beyond the limitations of our physical beauty. I wrote down both these quotes because they reminded me of how the world is more favorable towards men. And to me, these quotes are undeniably connected, if only by a Gossamer thread, by the theme of women in pain despite their original ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Pros And Cons Of Poverty Trap What drives poverty? First, how does one country consider itself living in extremely poor conditions? This can be answered by using tools like PPP or GDP per capita to distinguish between poor and rich countries. However, the purpose of this paper is not to discuss which country has the highest GDP, but rather to discuss the ability the poor obtain to boost their way out of poverty. Are there certain limitations that poor people face that refrain them from growing or is it just that the poor will always be poor? This paper will summarize main arguments of mechanisms that give rise to poverty traps from the article, Do Poverty Traps Exist. Based on these summaries, I will conduct further critical reviews on some and provide evidence to back my opinion on the specific mechanism at hand. To begin, one of the arguments first presented in the article give light to saving based poverty traps. If one does not have enough money to save, they cannot achieve sufficient capital so in turn, their incomes become stagnant. However, the study in the article argues that the saving rates do increase from low levels of development. So in some cases, this poverty trap does not exist. Secondly, the article also argues that a big push to the manufacturing sector can result in high returns and high income levels in both the modern sector and traditional sector. While, only investing in the traditional sector, which consists of agriculture, will only provide equalized wages at a low level ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Case Against Police Brutality It was unexpected day at home for Tino. After coming home from school, we got him a toy gun as a gift. It was his birthday. He was really happy about it and running outside to brag it with his friends. He was playing it in our front yard, while we were preparing for the party. We heard the bang sound and the sound of the police car loudly in front of our house....... Many people believe that police brutalityis out of control in America. The reasons for it is police are killing many innocent people, they make people doesn t feel safe and it is unstoppable if we are not doing something. Many of you have heard in the news that many innocent people have been killed by the police. It s unacceptable for a police to killan innocent people with the reason is it a mistake. Mistake can be acceptable in some situations, but in the situations that are killing people it s can t not be a mistake. Police is responding to protect us, not to kill us. Even with a criminal they arrested them, but not killed them. Police have the power to arrest criminal, hurt or even kill them if they have to, but there are no reason for them to kill an innocent citizen. What is the true reason for them to kill an innocent citizen? How do you feel when you know that you... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 9. First Impressions In Seventh Grade By Gary Soto First Impressions How important are first impressions? Some people may think first impressions aren t important. In fact, they are extremely important. First impressions are the way you first appear to someone, it s the way they think of you. These impressions can affect you later in life. For example, in Gary Soto s short story Seventh Grade Victor, a seventh grade student, really wants this girl, Teresa, to be his girl. Teresa is in his French class. The class gets their first impression of Victor when Mr. Bueller asked if anyone spoke French. Victor raised his hand, (37). Now everyone thinks Victor can speak French. Later in the story Teresa asks if he will help her study, He was sweaty in shame, (38). Since she thought he could speak French, once Teresa finds out he actually can t speak French their relationship could be ruined. If first impressions are lies, not your true self, it can ruin your relationships with others later.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... That could mean a 75 80 mph speed limit on certain parts of the freeway, or even the adjustment of 55 mph on curves, and crowded areas with constrained visibility. His reasoning behind this proposal is his belief that some communities are setting low speed limits on roads to increase ticket dividend. His plan for this action is to leave the calculations for a better flowing freewaysystem to the Michigan State Police. • 12. Speech On Plastic Plastic bags are hurting our environment and killing the wildlife. Plastic bags are taking over the oceans. It is now believed that there are 5.25 Trillion pieces of plastic debris in our oceans (www.1bagatatime.com). The equivalent of one dumb truck full of plastic enters the ocean about every minute. Scientists now estimate that there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish by the year 2020. For this reason alone, making the switch from plastic, to paper or cloth reusable, bags are so important. The average American Family takes home almost 1,500 plastic shopping bags a year (www.scholastic.com). Even though plastic bags are recyclable, about 5 percent of them are recycled. Most plastic bags eventually end up in landfills, where that can remain for as long as 1,000 years. But first, or instead, many plastic bags become litter. To encourage more recycling, some cities and states are passing laws requiring stores to provide recycling bins for plastic bags. Plastic bags are destroying our environment and killing our Wildlife. Tens of thousands of Whales, Birds, Seals and Turtles are killed every year from plastic bags (www.prijatelji zivotinja.hr). They are mistaking these plastic bags as their food source. Turtles think they are jelly fish floating in the water. Whales consume them as they are eating the krill and other fish that they eat. With such activity comes a high price. Studies have shown that there has been a significant rise in the number of children with sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), emotional and psychological problems, and out of wedlock childbearing. Sex has always been discussed publically by the media, television shows, music and occasionally by parents and teachers in educational context. Although abstinence only and safer sex programs disagree with one another, their core values and stand on the aims of sex education is to help teens develop problem solving skills and the skill of good decision making. They believe that adolescents will be better prepared to act responsibly in the heat of the moment (Silva). Most programs that have been currently implemented in the US have seen a delay in the initiation of sex among teens which proves to be a positive and desirable outcome (Silva). Statistics from recent studies suggest that only 13% of U.S. teens have ever had sex by the age of 15. But by the age of 19, seven in ten teens of both sexes have had sex. • 15. Cultural Differences In Tayo s Ceremony One of the main civic and moral lessons that is displayed throughout Edgar Huntly is the mistreatment of the Native American culture by the hands of the white, privileged and superior culture. This is something that is seen through the eyes of Edgar throughout the second half of the novel, where he believes that the Native Americans are savages with no rules or responsibilities who mindlessly killed those that he loved for fun, with no rational decision making abilities. The irony that is found within this, is the fact that the savage, irrational killer turns out to be Edgar himself, who convinces himself that he killed those Natives out of self defense in order to protect himself from those who have no rational abilities to protect themselves.... This is not the same case for Tayo in Ceremony but the lack of cultural appreciation and understanding of cultural differences is a problem that is addressed. The civic lessons that are addressed involves personal responsibilities in serving justice and facing an entire community independently instead of as a whole and a team. A roller coaster loomed over him, and the shadow of it cast over his face. In a few hours later, he found himself strapped into a seat on the ride, terrified to death. And that short Asian boy turned out to be me. Mom, my sister, Julianne, and I were at Sea World in San Antonio. Although we ve already been there multiple times, she insists on going there. It probably has to do with us having a membership and her being a cheap Asian mom. She wouldn t let us buy any food or drinks, or any souvenirs. Except that dumb stuffed penguin that she bought Julianne that she managed to rip in my room and make a huge mess that I had to clean up. Anyways, the shows at Sea World are always the same, so we are left with a few choices, to rewatch the shows, go to new animal exhibits, or go on some rides. We quickly went through the new exhibits, and between all these exhibits were the two largest rides in the park. One of them was what I call the traditional roller coaster, where it goes up slowly so you can enjoy the beautiful view of the park, then plunge down suddenly, your heart filled with fear and your ears filled with screams. The other was even worse. It twisted around and went upside down and then went to the moon. Suddenly, Mom asked Would you like to ride any those rides? You seem really bored riding these kid rides with Julianne? Two things popped up in my mind. The wimpy side of me was saying: No, there is no way you are going on those roller coasters. The other side of me said: Sure, I don t want the only teenager to be riding Big Bird s Ferris Wheel any more. It came out like this: Yeahno, sure, that sounds great, no, shut up, me. It did not sound great. And yes, I did talk to myself. Then, she bribed me with Hot Cheetos. I love Hot Cheetos more than anything. Sadly, finding any snack food at my house is like finding an oasis in a desert, once I get closer, I realize there are no Hot Cheetos. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Colosseum was one of Ancient Rome s biggest buildings, the architects carefully constructed every little part of the building. Since the Colosseum was so large, plans such as paths for people to come and go from the building were a critical part of the planning for the building process. While creating these circulation paths, the architects had to keep in mind the separation of the Roman classes, making sure not to have the high classes cross paths with the lower classes. Because of this class structure, large buildings, like the Colosseum, gave people of all classes the opportunity to enjoy a communal activity, reflecting the frugality of the Roman people. Another important factor that was taken into consideration during the creation of Roman architecture was how to correctly convey the values of the growing religious population in Rome. According to Churches and Basilicas, the Roman empire was rapidly growing in religion because of Emperor Constantine s new toleration for Christianity. Because of this increase in religious believers, churches were in high demand, forcing the architects to create enormous buildings to worship in, while aiming to reflect the values of Christianity. These churches helped influence the growing popularity of religion throughout Rome, and the extravagant buildings attracted numerous followers, which, in return helped religion to grow as a whole. In the framework of marriage, I do agree with the author that emotional intelligence may exist as the glue that holds a marriage together, as individuals must retain an aptitude to illustrate compassion and empathywith their partner. According to the text, evidence of a steady erosion of social pressures the stigma surrounding divorce, or the economic dependence on wives on their husbands that used to keep couples together in even the most miserable of matches surfaces (Goleman, 2005, p. 129). Because obligations no longer keep couples together, emotional intelligenceimportance amplified. The general challenge with marital emotional intelligence subsists as genderdifferences. • 32. Internal Medicine Personal Statement My first introduction to Internal Medicine was even before starting kindergarten, when as a young kid I used to visit my dad s clinic. I was always fascinated by the compassion my dad had for the sick and grief stricken and the sense of joy and happiness he experienced when he used to see them on the way to recovery. 30 years down the line I graduated from the same medical schoolas my dad. One of the proudest moment for me and him alike. In our folklore it says that the great riders never fall, but even greater are those who ride having experienced the fall. Failure is the greatest teacher and I experienced it first hand when I lost an extremely uphill battle to get a spot into medical school. The ground shook beneath my very feet. • 33. Ancient Aliens and Ancient Astronaut Theory Ancient Aliens and Ancient Astronaut Theory Mark P. Robertson Educational Planning Course Critical Issue Project Empire State CollegeMary Ellen Shaughnessy June 17, 2011 There has been a lot of commotion lately between both the scientific and religious communities in regards to this topic. The claims of Intelligent Extraterrestrial Life visiting the Earth in ancient times and profoundly affecting the development of Human civilization, is a controversial subject, at best. Suggestions of extraterrestrials (ancient aliens and ancient astronauts) visiting the Earth in the past is supposedly connected with the origins or development of human cultures, technologies and religions.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Noah s was then instructed to repopulate, and implement species back on the Earth. Looking at the Bible s story of Lot , also in Genesis, Von Daniken suggests that the two angels who visited lot were not actually angels, but ancient astronauts, who used atomic weapons to destroy the city of Sodom. Another ancient astronaut proponent and writer, Marc Dem, totally reinterprets the Book of Genesis by claims that humanity started on another planet, and that God of the Holy Bible is actually a spaceman. And, in stark contrast to popular belief, Jesus Christ, God s Son, is an Extra Terrestrial, because He is essentially not of this planet. Several chapters of the Old Testament have God depicted as travelling with clouds of smoke and fire, along with loud, trumpet like sounds. The Book of Enoch tells of flying objects and beings (the Watchers) that descended from Heaven to Earth. Enoch is said to have been taken on journeys around the Earth in these flying objects, and even travels to the heavens. In support of the A.A.T., many theorists say that the sightings of U.F.O. s throughout history are the actual creators of humanity who periodically, but in frequency, are returning to Earth to check up on their creations . Put aside the many proponent s depictions and interpretations of the ancient writings and artifacts, and there is no substantially hard evidence existing to support this ancient aliens/ancient astronaut hypothesis. • 34. The Importance Of Parent And Child Relationships Amongst many of the important relationships formed between people throughout life, a parent and a child s relationship is the most important. Parent and children relationships are formed from either one s biological parent or their adopted parents. The relationship between these two types of formation are always formed. It s obvious this relationship will be life lasting, since a person s parents will always be involved in their life. The factors that play out when these relationships first start to form are, the social, physical, and cognitive development. The term parentchild relationship refers to the unique and enduring bond between a caregiver and his or her child. To understand the parent child relationship, we must look at the ways that parents and children interact with one another physically, emotionally, and socially. (Dance Schissel 2017) Over time theories have arisen that parents are teachers to their children. In other words, what a child learns comes from their parents first, and then other influences throughout their life. Lev Vygotsky viewed parents as masters and the child as an apprentice in learning. (Dance Schissel 2017). Diana Baumrind researched that parenting styles come from three different types. Authoritarian, are parents that are very strict, unbending and inflexible. These types of parents tend to control every aspect of their children s life. The second parenting style she came up with was, authoritative parents are firm, loving and kind. ... • 35. Essay On Slip In Nb h.Active Slip Systems in Nb Slip during plastic deformation is the underlying mechanism that accounts for many of the phenomena previously discussed. This section will cover fundamental studies on slip in Nb, along with general theories on deformation in bcc metals. In the cavity fabrication process, crystal orientations, active slip systems, dislocation sub structure, and recrystallization during annealing are interrelated from the metallurgical point of view [20] slip behavior depends on how crystals are oriented with respect to the applied stress; slip and interactions of slip systems result in a certain dislocation substructure; the dislocation substructure determines how recovery and recrystallization proceed during heat ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since the motion of screw dislocations is thermally activated, it will likely occur by nucleation of kink pairs on well defined atomic planes [70]. The kink pair nucleation mechanism gives rise to the temperature and strain rate dependence of flow stresses in bcc metals [70]. The low mobility of bcc screw dislocations can be partly explained by the core relaxation theory [48, 72 76]. A bcc screw dislocation core tends to spread onto three symmetric {110} or {112} planes, which results in a non planar core structure and hinders the movement of screw dislocations [70]. Consequently, screw dislocation mobility is affected by non glide shear stresses, which is a violation of the Schmid law. The relaxation also adds to the waviness of slip traces, as cross slip can occur on two alternating {110} or {112} planes to roughly follow a slip plane with a high resolved shear stress. Thus, long and drawn out screw dislocations are usually left behind during plastic deformation and are observable [48]. There has been no consensus thus far regarding the core structure of screw dislocations in Nb, but it is generally agreed that the core relaxation depends on both the temperature and purity [70, 77 79]. Seeger argued that fundamental slip planes change from {110} at low temperatures ( slip systems could leave behind sessile dislocations with the resulting Burgers vector on a ... A total of 1,618 sample were collected, dominated by oysters (58.03%), pectinids (12.54%), echinoids (5.68%), bivalves (14.77%), and gastropods (8.96%) (Fig. 39). Instead of their great abundance they surprisingly show a low diversity, and they are randomly distributed all over the successions (Figs.12, 13, 15, 17). But it is noticeable that the Oasisand Escarpment Member are more favorable for oysters and pectinids, while El Diffa Plateau Member was dominated by gastropods (Fig. 12). In order to understand the paleoecology and paleoenvironment of the Middle Miocene time of Siwa Oasisa detailed investigation of the abovementioned faunal groups will be discussed. Like their modern representatives, oysters cement themselves onto the substrate by their left valves. Most cementing bivalves are found in shallow water environments having depths of less than 35 m (Kauffmann, 1969). • 37. Symbolism And Symbolism In Wan Echo Sonnet By Robert Pack In ВЁAn Echo SonnetВЁ by Robert Pack, he was able to develop a clear message with his carefully structured poem. By employing a Shakespearean Sonnet form and a rhyming echo that answers the question raised by the voice, Pack revealed that the echo was the voiceВґs alter ego. Through the use of structure and other literary elements such as personification, imagery, and symbolism, the author developed the idea that although one might have insecurities about the future, it is important to take the ВЁleapВЁ of faith in order to truly be alive. In the first quatrain, the author starts off with general questions about life that helps characterize the voice. In the first sentence, the voice wonders if he is able to start from nothingness. This could be an indication for either low aspiration or being too scared to take any actions for progression. To answer this, the echo replies with ВЁstartВЁ. In order to progress on this empty page, everyone must start somewhere and take that one small step. The voice then worries about the outcome of life by juxtaposing joy and grief. The echo replies that grief is an outcome of life because it is not trying to conceal the inevitable truth. This introduction presents the voice as being insecure and anxious as he tries to understand the meaning of life and an echo that is direct. The next four lines address death with symbolism and personification to establish the idea of not fearing the unknown future. In line 5, the voice talks about the life cycle ... By 1858 the stench from the raw sewage around and within the Thames was named the Great Stink . It was a Civil Engineer named Joseph Bazalgette who proposed a plan of the creation of an underground network of tunnels, to put an end to the polluted river. His engineering feat has been improved and extended vastly but the Victorian Sewers still stand as London s primary sewer system. The sewers were designed to be a combined system meaning rainwater and waste were transported in the same manner. Bazalgette designed Combined Sewage Overflow (CSO) points along the Thames. The CSO s discharged the sewage and rainwater into the Thames after substantial rainfall, this prevented flooding the streets and houses. When designing the sewers, population increase was taken into consideration. (16) The underground system and factories were designed to treat and transfer sewage of up to double the population that was present when construction began. However the population of London almost quadrupled from 2.35 Million in 1850 (19) to 8.17 million in 2011(7). This drastic increase meant that the sewers were overloaded.
