6. CHARMINAR PRECINCT DESIGN
NATIONAL LEVEL COMPETITION {SPECIAL MENTION}
• The brief for this project demanded changes
in the existing zones of the Charminar
precinct.
• New designs for pedestrian and vehicular
movements, advertisement mediums for
shops, vendor placement, transportation
means, etc were required.
• As a group of four with me being the group
leader , we identified various issues, minor and
major, drafted schemes to rectify those issues,
without disturbing the existing aura of the
precinct.
My Contributions:
• Planning of compilation of presentation sheets.
• Proposing concepts for easing vehicular and
pedestrian congestion, designing the
Charminar pedestrian area, producing
concepts for Laad Bazaar street. Restoration of
pathargatti street with cleaner facades and
parking allotments.
• Producing a report of all the contents in the
presentation and their methods of execution.
• Assigning tasks to groupmates and provoking
ideas to come up with fictional yet pragmatic
designs.
7. CHARMINAR PRECINCT DESIGN
NATIONAL LEVEL COMPETITION {SPECIAL MENTION}
While doing this project I learned:
• how people behave with respect to
spaces.(indoors and outdoors)
• How chaos could be controlled with a
few changes in physical entities of a
space.
• Not to disturb any traditional or
historical ways of utilization of space by
adding contemporary elements. By
doing so the space looses its character.
• How diversion of traffic flow could
effect commercial establishments and
that a bazaar is like an open air mall
where I as a designer must be able to
draw a customer through all thick and
thin lanes and make him purchase
goods rather than hush him from point
A to B.
• To manage a team by realizing their
abilities and assigning them roles that
would bring their best on the table.

3RD SEMESTER / 2ND YEAR
• In this project we were
supposed to design the form
of the building with voids and
projections in a cube.
• I transformed the idea by
gradual reduction and
addition of each floor area.
• the building has a different
shape at each elevation,
which could be seen in terms
of voids and projections.
