Essay on Thomas Jefferson
Thomas Jefferson He is best remembered as a great president and as the author of the Declaration
of Independence. He also won lasting fame as a diplomat, a political thinker, and a founder of the
Democratic Party. Jefferson s interests and talents covered an amazing range. He became one of the
leading American architects of his time and designed the VirginiaCapitol, the University of Virginia,
and his own home, Monticello. He greatly appreciated art and music and tried to encourage their
advancement in the United States. He arranged for the famous French sculptor Jean Houdon to
come to America to make a statue of George Washington. Jefferson also posed for Houdon and for

(Thomas Jefferson, an intimate history [by] Fawn M. Brodie. Published: New York, Norton
[1974]) Thomas Jefferson was born on April 13, 1743, at Shadwell, the family farm in
Goochland (now Albemarle) County, Virginia. (The date was April 2 by the calendar then in
use.) He was the third child in the family and grew up with six sisters and one brother. Two other
brothers died in infancy. His father, Peter Jefferson, had served as surveyor, sheriff, colonel of
militia, and member of the House of Burgesses. Thomas s mother, Jane Randolph Jefferson,
came from one of the oldest families in Virginia. Thomas developed the normal interests of a
country boy #8212;hunting, fishing, horseback riding, and canoeing. He also learned to play the
violin and to love music. Jefferson was 14 years old when his father died. As the oldest son, he
became head of the family. He inherited more than 2,500 acres (1,010 hectares) of land and at
least 20 slaves. His guardian, John Harvie, managed the estate until Jefferson was 21. Thomas
began his studies under a tutor. At age 9, he went to live with a Scottish clergyman, who taught him
Latin, Greek, and French. After his father died, Thomas entered the school of James Maury, an
Anglican clergyman, near Charlottesville. (Thomas Jefferson : a life / Willard Sterne Randall.

Healthsouth Fraud Essay
Culture
During the 90 s, investors and lenders shifted their interest from a company s bottom line to its
yearly revenue growth. Furthermore, companies with growing revenues were worthy of receiving
investments to finance growth. The shifted focus motivated companies like HealthSouth to
transition into practicing more aggressive revenue recognition policies. Aggressive eventually
turned illegal when HealthSouth began overstating its revenues. From the 2 million journal entries
under $5,000 recorded to source documents fabricated, HealthSouth went to great lengths to commit
and conceal its fraud. In addition, employees were closely monitored to ensure that they were not
arousing suspicion to HealthSouth s fraud. The leading force of HealthSouth s culture was the ...

Before resigning, Vines emailed Ernst Young to inform them to observe three accounts. Ernst
Young closed the audit file after the CFO said that Vines was an unhappy employee. He was not
investigated, but he tried to end the fraud scheme. Vines was lucky to leave when he did, but
others were not so lucky. As one of the nation s leading medical service providers, over 51,000
employees across the country became uneasy during the fraud investigation. Tom Goetziner, a stock
analyst, believed that HealthSouth would be applying for Chapter 11 as early as April 2003.
However, he also added that some of their other services would remain available to the public. For
example, HealthSouth owned fifty five locations providing various medical services throughout
the state of Oklahoma. Therapist layoffs were likely and less successful enterprises would be
closed as part of the company s restructuring plan. By November of 2003, HealthSouth had laid off
more than a couple thousand of its employees due to corporate downsizing (Hamilton n.d.)

College Is A Time In Which People Are First Discovering
College is a time in which people are first discovering who they are, and what they would like to
do with the rest of their lives. It is a point where for the first time in these young adults lives they
are living on their own and actively making their own life decisions. These young adults are
thrown into a world that seems so foreign to anything they have known, and so many new things
are thrown their way that they just have to decide and do. The sudden newness of it all can cause
many stressors amongst a wide margin of students who attend college. This new found stress may
begin to gradually increase over time, which then leads to many college students developing
depression. The depression experienced more often than not goes... Show more content on

They may instead be partaking in activities that negatively suppress their depressive emotions.
They lash out in aggressive emotions, or turn to alcohol and illegal substances. In fact, 45 % of
college students end up binge drinking, and 25 % abuse drugs, both prescription and illegal
(Tartakovsky). There is a stigma behind depression that makes admitting to the disease
something that people just do not do out of their own will. This sense of shame then results in a
large number of people going around undiagnosed and untreated for something as serious as
depression. There needs to be a stronger conversation about how real depression is and how
important it is to get help to treat it. The lack of a conversation being had is hurting college
students further than their depression (Li). Due to some colleges not having accessible counseling
services, or mental health programs, it helps in the results of self treatment of student s
depression. Or simply due to the fact that some students do not know that they either have
depression, or that there are services at their colleges that are there to help them. More colleges
need to have outreach programs to help students to understand that it s okay to seek help and that
there are many ways to manage their stress. Ways that do not include harming themselves and their
bodies. It is statistically likely that if all of this stress begins to add up, suicidal thoughts may
begin to occur. This is a serious downfall to

First World War Convergence Analysis
According to the Merriam Webster dictionary, convergence is defined as independent
development of similar characters often associated with similarity of habits or environment, (
Convergence ). World War I is a worthy example to discuss the idea of an event forming similar
experiences in a variety of characters. Meaning, two ethnically dissimilar people raised in different
environments, could have a convergence of experiences due to fighting in the same war; while two
neighbors might diverge in all ways but their nationality. An investigation could be made into how
the soldiers experiences during the war might converge more with soldiers of other nations than
with the citizens of the soldiers homeland. This historical essay will work to... Show more content

And although, the physical issues of the common citizens of Germany and India diverged
essentially, the soldiers who fought for these nations obtained many parallel physical issues due
to the nature of the war. In letter 138 of Omissi collection, Rajwali Khan wrote from the
Kitchener s Indian Hospital to Ghulam Hussain: There is nothing but my corpse left. They have
cut off the whole of one leg and one hand too is useless... There is nothing left of me. (Omissi
98). This can be correlated to when Kemmerich lost his foot, due to war sustained injuries and
thus later became nothing but a corpse when he died (Remarque 14). The comparison of limbs
lost in both the letters and the novel is a convergence between the two groups of soldiers.
Another physical issue that both the Indian and German soldiers experienced was the lack of
food, and accordingly, the constant state of hunger. In the novel, Paul remarked with us food is
pretty scarce and none of it too good at that, (Remarque 189). This quotation had Paul
commenting on how the food was unpalatable and limited, and there was not even enough food
to feed them all. The Indian soldiers also referenced the lack of food, like how in letter 221
Shambo discussed how the home front was blessed because they get a bellyful of food, while
the soldiers are starving on the battlefield (Omissi 140). This is because in the theater of war as
Paul acknowledged everything gets eaten, notwithstanding, and if ever anyone is so well off as
not to want all of his share, there is a dozen others standing by ready to relieve him of it,
(Remarque 189). Basically, there were always people who end up with no food, no matter how
much the soldiers conserved, or shared their food. So, the lack of food for both the German and
Indian soldiers is another physical aspect that converged between the diverse group of soldiers.

Troy Aikman Research Paper
One of the keys to the art of building a winner is finding the right personnel to fit your system.
Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett s offensive philosophy stems from his days as a backup
quarterback to Hall of Famer Troy Aikman. In the glory days of the 90s dynasty, Aikman had a
massive offensive line that featured tackles Mark Tuinei and Erik Williams, guards Nate Newton
and Kevin Gogan, and center Mark Stepnoski that gave Aikman enough time to get the football to
his outlets. What the maulers did best was pave the way for the great Emmitt Smith a physical all
around back the offense centralized their gameplans around.
On the boundary, Michael Irvin (6 2, 207 lbs.) and Alvin Harper (6 3, 210 lbs.) were two physical

Now Garrett, like Turner and Zampese had to work with, has the tools in place for the offense to
be a juggernaut. Starting with the receivers, Garrett has a beast in Dez Bryant (6 2, 225 lbs.)
able to dominate with the same prowess Irvin took to the gridiron, and Terrance Williams (6 2,
208 lbs.) opposite of Bryant with some similarities as Harper (can get up and get the ball). Notice
the comparison in size that Irvin and Harper had? Insert Brice Butler (6 3, 215 lbs.) and the
Cowboys have the ideal receivers wanted in the system prototypical sized route runners able to get
downfield.
Lots of eyes will be on Butler, who has the size and speed to potentially take over for Williams
the current Z receiver on the roster. Williams should put up better numbers than Mohamad Sanu
the Bengals former number two receiver who signed a five year, $32 million deal with the
Falcons. If Sanu s 33 catches, and near 400 yards receiving last season set the table for the deal he
signed this offseason Williams should be seeking something

The games graphics are highly detailed; this makes the missions more captivating. There are two

to alternate between dogfighting in a jet and battling enemies on foot. The other involves hacking

they re ultimately stones striking a pond, their ripples lost to the stillness. On the whole, this

Rhetorical Analysis Of Eminem Is Right
In Eminem Is Right Mary Eberstadt uses Ethos, Pathos, and Kairos effectively to touch on a very

approach on the content of today s music. Ethos is used to connect a relationship between the
themes in the different generation of music, Pathos to look behind the words used in the music, and
Kairos gives more strength to the other rhetorical devices used in the article. Eminemmight just be

the fixation on having been abandoned personally by the adults supposedly in charge, with
consequences ranging from bitter ness to rage bad, sick, and violent behavior , a trait the draws
attention away from the simpler reason of why a teenager would like a certain type of music
and focuses more on the emotional state of the person. Eberstadt talks about a painful truth, the
emotional downward mobility , where she touches on how parents raise their kids nowadays
(Eberstadt 186). It s a more emotional approach on why teenagers lash out. It makes you ask
yourself if Eminem is right? Are the songs popular just because of the straight forward lyrics, or
because they speak a truth that most people feel guilty about. Eberstadt finishes the article by
saying, If this spectacle alone doesn t tell us something about the ongoing emotional costs of
parent child separation on today s out size scale, it s hard to see what could and it emphasizes
again that this is more than just the words, but a social dilemma that should be taking seriously

Cutting out the freight costs and selling directly at the point of origin is a goal most players in the
field are eyeing for.
(d)The price of gold and other precious metals is still very high. Gold prices have been on a
steady upslope from 2001 till now. Silver is a similar, if not as dramatic a story. This obviously
tilts the markets in favour of cheaper and more often than not, more trendy options of fashion
accessories and costume jewellery.
However, as in most business stories, all isn t as rosy and there is more to it than meets the eye.
These opportunities aside, there are certain challenges the industry faces in the quest for growth and
sustainence:
(a)Fashion Accessory business is boosted by a high percentage of impulse buys. Online accessory
and costume jewellery retailers need to face a lot of challenges in this regard as the prospective
buyers have instant access to comparative prices and multiple options. Smaller retailers need to also
consider how they can innovate to maximize their sales by targeting the impulsiveness of the
buyers and the transparency of the internet.
(b)The present is a boon period for Fashion Accessories industry as expected worldwide
consumer spending in this sector is likely to grow by 4 to 5 percent. Such prospects lure several
new entrants to join the industry, some of which happen to be established names in other industries.

U.s. Immigration Policy Policies Essay
U.S. immigration policy has always been an important topic debated by Presidential candidates for
decades. Immigration reform has been ignored by Congress, leaving decisions up to the President
and Supreme Court. In the meantime, the hopes of about eleven million illegal immigrants in the
U.S., as well as future rules for legal immigration, rest on the shoulders of those decision makers.
Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump both agree that changes to U.S. immigration policy are needed;
however, Donald Trump is taking a radical approach suggesting mass deportation and completely
revamping U.S. immigration policy, whereas, Hillary Clinton is overlooking some issues and wants
to continue to support the policy set forth by the Obama Administration. Regardless of who
becomes President, they will have a hard time getting these issues passed through Congress.
Deportation
Donald Trump s signature topic during his presidential campaign has been illegal immigration. He
has generated headlines and controversial remarks during his plans for change. In 2015, when he
announced he was running for president, Donald Trump claimed Mexico was sending all their
rapist and violent criminals into the U.S. (Gabbatt, 2015). He also called for the deportation of an
estimated eleven million illegal immigrants. Donald Trump has built his campaign on his
willingness to deport a projected eleven million illegal immigrants; however, most recently his
stance has changed. In a recent interview, Fox News

Leroy understands that his treatment would hinder him from working the long hours that he is
used to. Leroy is also considering the doctor appointments, which will cost money and time.
According to the family systems theory, Leroy would not see this as being in the best interest for
his family. Dr. Bowen would also suggest that Leroy has a role that he has to fulfil (Priest, 2015).
The role that Leroy has in the familyis that of a provider. Leroy believes that his diagnosis of
prostate cancer, will in some way impact his role as a provider. The level of incapacitation is
also another aspect of the diagnosis to be taken into consideration. If Leroy s diagnosis of
prostate cancer does not inhibit him from fulfilling his role as a provider, he may be more
accepting of the illness. The nuclear family system may experience a change in relationship
patterns, depending on the level of incapacitation (Priest, 2015). Tiffany would have to embrace
a new role in the family, if Leroy now has to be dependent on her. This would be difficult for not
only Leroy, but for Tiffany as well. This major life incident has caused both of them to possibly

A Proposal to Implement a Gigabit Internet Setup for ABC...
IT Proposal The proposal attached herein this report proposes the cheapest and most cost
effective way to implement a Gigabit internet setup for ABC Inc s offices. Since all of the
offices and workstations in question are within 150 feet of the company s wiring closet, it will
not take a lot of infrastructure to get the job done. However, ABC should not cheap out and get
the bare minimum setup either. Proposed Equipment As for the cabling that would be required
to get Gigabit internet, or 1000 megabits per second, that would call for either Category 5+, 5e
or 6. Any one of those three is technically capable of supporting Gigabit speeds. All three have
been out for some time now and it would be best to go ahead and spend the extra amount,
although not too much extra, on the category 6 cable. If this is done, it is extremely unlikely
that any re cabling would have to occur for the foreseeable future (Lowe, 2002). The reason the
author of this proposal would highly recommend category 6 is because gigabit internet is the
fastest that 5 and 5e can run at. As such, if there is any increase in the speed of the other internet
equipment in the coming years, an upgrade to speeds would require re cabling of the actual
network cable as well and that day is coming sooner than one may think. Using 5 or 5e would be
foolish because category 6 is not that much more expensive and category 6 can handle ten gigabit
(10,000 mbps) internet at its top end В¦and that is just an estimate. It

American Revolution 1763
Discuss some of the events that begin to divide England and its American colonies from 1763
through 1776.
The basic premise of the thirteen colonies break with England was the development of capitalism in
them. The American Revolution was an event of historical patterns prepared by previous
development of the colonies. The immediate cause, which caused a mass movement against the
mother country in the 60s, and then a revolutionary war against it in 1775, was the policy of
increased pressure and oppression, that England was carried out in the colonies after the Seven

Margaret Sanger Birth Control Movement
Margaret Sanger s Contributions to Nursing Through her Birth Control Movement Margaret
Louise Sanger, a nurse in the early mid 1900s, was the first to promote and spread information
regarding birth control. She was passionate about women having the right to their decision of
bearing children. She also wanted women to be educated about the risks involved and informed
about methods of birth control. Sanger did not have many male supporters; however, she used
her perseverance to her advantage and continued to advocate her ideas to the public. Eventually,
her thoughts and ideas made headway to magazines and newspapers, allowing the information to
become public knowledge for any woman wanting to understand more about birth control. She
not only wrote magazines and articles, she also opened several clinics and performed
procedures on women wanting medical assistance that was denied by many doctors. Sanger s
stance on birth control lead to various outbreaks and conflicts; however, her accomplishments
overpowered her obstacles, and birth control is now a decision for women across the world

Also throughout the article (Why Hiroshima could have been avoided), by it shows what the
comments from Henry H. Arnold, Commanding General of the U.S. Army Air Forces, had
commented on what he thought of the whole situation. Arnold stated, The Japanese position was
hopeless even before the first atomic bomb fell because the Japanese had lost control of their
own air. and also when he remarked, It always appeared to us, atomic bomb or no atomic bomb,
the Japanese were already on the verge of collapse (Freeman 1). Although, it can be arguable
that Japan was strong and would not go down without a fight and it was just out of the question
for them to show that they will surrender and that the U.S. dropped the atomic bomb in fact to as

it this way, there is not real factual data on that vision, plus Japan was already at breakpoint
because the Japanese were already short on many resources and were bound to give in

revenge simply for what happened at Pearl Harbor but not to end the war. The war ended in

It is remarkable how an athlete is paid millions of dollars to appear for a few hours for an
advertising campaign, while a surgeon who must perform a life affecting procedure for a few
hours is paid a small fraction of what an athlete earns. When considering team sports, it can be
linked that higher payroll teams win more games and win more championship. But, there should
be a limit or salary cap in all professional team sports. This creates greater competition between
teams and more excitement for the fans. If a league did not have a salary cap, only teams that
have a history of winning games and championships are able to pay top dollars for the best players.
This makes it very difficult for younger teams to succeed, or for new teams to enter the league. A
prime example of a professional sport without a salary cap is Major League Baseball. The New York
Yankeeshad the highest payroll in 2007 of $218.3 million, while the World Series champion
Boston Red Sox was a distant second at $155.4 million. Not only having the highest payroll, the
Yankees had the highest revenue in the majors of $415 million last year. By looking at the other
end of the payroll column, one can link the payroll of the team to its success in the league. For
example, the Tampa Bay Devil Rays had the lowest payroll in the majors last season of $31.8

The Effect Of Chemical Reactions On Temperature, Enthalpy,...
Discussion of Goals During this experiment we tested the amount of change in heat given off
during different chemical reactions. We created a calorimeter that we will use to test different
reactions to see how the heat energy was affected. After completing the experiments we were able
to tell what chemicals or metals would change the heatenergy for every reaction we tested. Overall,
this experiment showed us what characteristics of chemical reactions affect the change in
temperature, enthalpy, and specific heat. Discussion of Results During the past four weeks we have
been working on identifying heat changes between an assortment of different chemicals and metals.
We constructed two calorimeters out of four Styrofoam cups, tape,... Show more content on

The cause of the large gap simply could have been a measuring mistake and or possibly an added
human error. After making our final tweaks to our calorimeters we moved on to experimenting
with the heat changes for several acids and a base mixture continuing from week one. We tested
the same base (Sodium Hydroxide) with three different acids (Acetic Acid, Nitric Acid, and
Hydrochloric Acid) all at one molarity; results are shown in Table 2. After testing our three
experiments we discovered a pattern with our acid and base reactions. Noticing that when we
tested a stronger acid with a base the reaction would give off higher heat energy readings; versus
the weak acid we tested. Which proves that there is a connection between chemical strength and
heat energy. Leaving us with the conclusion that the stronger the chemical used, the greater heat
energy released from the reaction that took place. Moving on with our project into week two we
continued to test acids and bases; but, we changed the acid and base molarity this time as seen
in Table 3. The point of this experiment was to see if the acid and base molarity (that we
changed from 1, 3, and to 6 moles) would affect the amount of heat energy given off. We tested
the same Acetic Acid and NaOH. Measuring 50mL of one mole NaOH and adding 50mL one
mole Acetic Acid. We tested each experiment twice to make sure we were accurate and checked
for possible errors made. We did have one

Confucius And Confucianism
Confucius s philosophical teachings about government and society discussed in the Analects
revolve around morality and how a ruler and his people should act in order to stabilize society.
Confucius looked to the past to discuss the problems of the present by modeling his teachings from
the former Zhou empire. Confuciussought to bring back the Zhou traditions in order to better
society. By linking moral behaviors to social roles and hierarchies, he emphasized that the
stability of the government and society was directly correlated to the relationship between the
ruler and the people. With the title Son of Heaven, the ruler was expected to act morally towards
his subjects and treat them with love and concern ( Introduction to Confucian Thought , 2009).
This idea is directly related to the concept of ren, which discusses the well being of others as the
moral drive of society. He extended this idea into social harmony, being first and foremost
embedded in the family. Confucius believed that the virtue of filial piety was the foundation for not
just family life but also had implication for the ruler subject bond ( Mencius and his development of
Confucian teachings , n.d.). Similarly, Mencius centered his teachings on this idea by stressing that
the well being of the family directly corresponded to the well being of the state. Most importantly
however, Confucius also discussed the importance of the ruler ruling over the people with virtue,
which was achieved through ritual

Institutions Of Higher Learning. An Institution Of Higher
Institutions of higher learning
An institution of higher learning is defined as a place that offers undergraduate and graduate degree
programs (Barrow, Brock, Rouse, 2013). In the United States they date back to before the American
Revolution, and have continually adapted to meet the needs of learners (Barrow, Brock, Rouse,
2013). For example, institutions of higher learning are always incorporating new programs and
working towards creating a quality learning environment. In the 21st century institutions of higher
learning have moved in the direction of making a higher education more available and now have the
ability to reach local learners and learners on the other side of the world (Alexey, 2016).

As web technology usage increase for businesses so does the need for security. Our web presence
here at Information Assurance is very important to the growth of the business. Our webservers are
a crucial element of our web infrastructure and a single vulnerability can lead to a security breach
which can affect Information Assurance s creditability. Which is why we must have webserver
security a high priority for our growing business. Our webserver hosts our websiteover the internet

we suffered from in 2001 with denial of service attacks and the defacement of our website.
Attackers abuse vulnerabilities within the software of webservers to compromise our website
security. We have network security measures in place such as our firewall but we still need to
strengthen our webservers which can be access from anywhere as long as there is an internet
connection. (Kumar) Strengthening our web server security will help protect against known
vulnerabilities that bypass the firewall system and can compromise our web applications.
In a recent study 75% of cyber attacks are caused by taking advantage of vulnerabilities in web
application and webservers. With 57.9% of webserver market share being Apache servers and only
13.2% are Microsoft IIS, we are at high risk of our servers being compromised by attackers. Our

The Notebook And The Last Song Essay
The famous Nicholas Sparks novels The Notebook and The Last Song are based on non fictional
events, while Rapunzel is a fictional short story fully based on fairytale. Although these are two
different genres, all three pieces share a common story line and even the same themes. The story
line, like any princess fairytale or romantic novel involves two people who fall in lovebut go
through many obstacles to be together. However, in the end, they live happily ever after. The two
themes that these three pieces of literature have in common are determination and fate. Throughout
this paper you will see this story line and those themes unfold.
We hear determination in our everyday lives, no matter our age nor our location. Although we may
hear this constantly, determination is something very hard to obtain. For these stories, the word
determination is nothing but known and relived constantly through the character s lives. In
addition to determination, we hear the word fate constantly. We ve heard this growing up through
watching any and every Disney movie out there, including Rapunzel . The definition, according
to Wikipedia, is as followed: be destined to happen, turn out, or act in a particular way. Everyone
is born with a fate, we are all here on this earth for a different purpose and fate. We just don t know
our fate as we go through life, just like these characters.

Frankenstein Critique
As Mary Shelley wrote Frankenstein, she poured much time into portraying her characters and
making them believable and life like. Her scenes are painted with beautiful, descriptive words
that are colored with vivid emotions and applicable morals. Her life experiences were strategically
placed in her writing to convey a sense of reality and completion of plots and subplots. Her
experience with failed love ties in with the emotion that she expresses the loneliness of Frankenstein
s creation. She develops her characters with passion and enhanced style.
Shelley does a very interesting job of developing her characters throughout Frankenstein. The way

Chapters four through eight is an example of this. It s very lengthy and a long read.
Shelley has a lovely style of writing throughout the novel. It is very smooth and poetic. She uses
similes to describe thing like the weather or how someone feels. Sentences like, This noble war in
the sky elevated my spirits. and,
Did I request thee, Maker, from my clay
To mould me Man, did I solicit thee
From darkness to promote me? show off this poetic style she shows throughout.
Shelley uses passages like this throughout the novel. It is in a poetic style that really adds to the
mood of the book.
The idea of different narrators for different views on scenes displays a variety of style which are
associated with the main narrators: highly descriptive and rational told by Victor, and tragic and
moving by the monster. The style is rich in vocabulary and is very highly descriptive, especially
with the landscape, which also sometimes mirrors the character s feelings. I discovered more
distinctly the black sides of Jura, and the bright summit of Mount Blanc; I wept like a child: Dear
mountains! my own beautiful ale! how do you welcome your wanderer? Your summits are clear;
the sky and lake are blue and placid. Is this to prognosticate peace, or to mock at my unhappiness?

Description Of Social Class On Someone s Life Dramatically
Description of Social ClassSocial status or placement can impact someone s life dramatically.
Social class determines where people will live, how well educated they may be, their occupation,
their physical health, their mental health, the forms of recreation they enjoy, their social networks,
their political views, their attitudes toward childrearing, and how long they may live. (Vissing,
2011) It also plays a big role in how people view themselves, as well as how others view them.
Social classcan also play a role in the potential of how successful someone can be. Class is a large
group of people who share common economic resources that influence the kind of lifestyle they are
able to live. (Giddens, Duneier, Appelbaum, Carr 195)... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It provided data on how often gender, race, and social class inequalities were discussed in the
classroom and textbooks. While gender stratification was discussed the most, it was clear that
all types of social stratification still exist today. 59 percent of the gender and socialization
citations directed the readers to the inequality sections of the textbook, particularly the gender
chapter. This suggests that socialization plays more of an explanatory role in gender inequality
in introductory textbooks than it does for race or class. (Puentes, Gougherty 163) If this
information was not available in textbooks or discussed in classrooms, then you could go as far
to say that social stratification did not exist. Another article I researched talked about how most
authors focused on gender rather than social class. There is a significant lack of information
pertaining to social class and a greater emphasis on gender. However, differences in socialization
by class were not used to explain class inequality or the reproduction of the class structure; instead,
the focus tended to be on the uneven distribution of economic resources and opportunities. When
class socialization was discussed, it was likely to be several paragraphs instead of the several
pages that were devoted to gender socialization in the gender chapters. (Puentes, Gougherty 164)

Film, Spirited Away, By Miyazaki Hayao
In Miyazaki Hayao s animated film, Spirited Away, Miyazaki presents a young girl Chihiro who
visits an abandoned amusement park, only to become trapped in a fantasy world where spirits
reside. Although most of these creatures are very unique and quite unlike the others, most of
them have one thing in common: their body features are very disproportional compared to the
size of their bodies. This strange similarity depicted by Miyazaki invokes strong feelings of fear
and appreciation in particular for the viewer. While many characters have ominous, creepy
appearances similar to that of a ghost, they still have large eyes, blob shaped bodies, and they
make little to no noise. These three characteristics emphasize the helplessness the cuteness of
these creatures. The ominous appearance of the characters does however quickly begin to clash
more obviously with their cute defining factors. In one early particular scene, Chihiro encounters
a radish spirit: a large, round creature whose body shape resembles a radish. At first, the creature
is threatening to the viewer, as it is large compared to most characters and its appearance is foreign
and bizarre. But even though the spirit appears scary, Chihiro sticks around it briefly, and the
viewer is prompted to further observes its figure. At that point, the the rotundness of the spirit
radish s figure becomes more apparent, and the viewer is lead to see him as not just threatening
anymore, but also cute. But things that are cute are

The Help, in light of the top of the selling novel by Kathryn Stockett, is a movie about segregation

The Journey Of Becoming A Prosecutor Essay
Zach Howard Mrs. Creel English IV 7 October 2016 The Journey of Becoming a Prosecutor The
prosecutor is the chief legal representative of the prosecution in countries with either the
common law adversarial system or the civil law inquisitorial system. The prosecution is the
legal party responsible for presenting the case in a criminal trial against an individual accused
of breaking the law. A prosecutor prosecutes someone for an illegal crime. There are different
rules in different states for a prosecutor. In some states, a prosecutor would have to show the
court a written statement of the felonies. In other states, the prosecutor must gather a Grand Jury
before charging the culprit with a crime. A Grand Jury is a group of people selected by the
prosecutors or prosecutor to review the evidence and tells whether the criminal is innocent or
guilty. The Grand Jury also puts their opinion out and sometimes they all do not agree if the
criminal gets prosecuted or not. A criminal prosecutor is also a type of lawyer. Becoming a
prosecutor has multiple steps from going to college and achieving a law degree, from clearing
the bar examination, and achieving the dreams of being a prosecutor. When I start college I have
to start with my basics first of course. Also, going to a community college to take my basics is
what I plan to do in succeeding to become a criminal prosecutor. Then, I plan on going to a

Defining Nick Bottom in a Midsummer Night’s Dream Essay
Defining Nick Bottom in A Midsummer Night s Dream
Perhaps one of William Shakespeare s greatest plays of all time, A Midsummer Night s Dream is
a play intended to be watched, rather than read, with an imaginative mind. It is a play that is in the
genre of romantic comedy. The romantic aspects of the play are made possible with the characters
of Theseus and Hippolyta, Lysander and Hermia, Helena and Demetrius, and Oberon with Titania.
However, the comedy that is involved in this masterpiece is mostly shown through the lines of Nick
Bottom. Although many plays are dull and repetitious with romanticism, A Midsummer Night s
Dream is a romantic play brought to life with comedic characters like Nick Bottom.

What Richard Alleva is saying is that Nick Bottom is one of the greatest characters that provide
comic relief in Shakespeare s play. Shakespeare uses Bottom to provide comedy to the play, in
which most of the play is based around him and his antics. Bottom messes up grammar, spelling,
and everything that Quince, the author of Pyramus and Thisbe, had wanted for the play for the
Duke and Duchess. Examples of his Ass like qualities are seen in the first act. For instance,
Bottom says You were best to call them generally, man by man, according to the scrip (1.2.2).
What makes him a fool in this statement is that he uses the word generally, instead of the word
individually. Also he uses the word scrip, when he really means to use the word script. Another
great example of Bottom s foolishness, acting as Pyramus: Thisbe, the flowers of odious savors
sweet (3.1.59). This mistake perfectly reflects Bottom because he should have said the word odors
instead of odious in the sentence. Odors means fragrant smells, while odious means repulsive. This
humor is obvious to everybody watching that Bottom had made a mistake. So these are just a few
examples to explain how Bottom was a fool and provided laughter. In A Midsummer Night s Dream
, there is a

Rosa Parks And Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Throughout the 1950 s and 1960 s, there were many acts, movements, and anger that inspired
people to fight for their rights and declare the United States as integrated and hate free. There
were many people that acted for their rights and for the rest of the people that were not able to
speak up. Along with these people that were able to speak publicly or privately, there were
marches and boycotts. Finally, there were violent acts which took place against colored citizens
which left a negative impact on America s past. The anger, passion, and drive for freedom so
many citizens felt allowed the country to surpass its negative views and practices to emerge a more
open and more accepting place.
Of the most influential people during the civil rights movement, was Rosa Parks and Dr. Martin
Luther King Jr. However, President Eisenhower is often overlooked as influential during this
time but he did pass many acts and give orders to help children trying to attend school safely
while the face of the nation was changing. Rosa Parks is well known for her refusal to give up

The Murder In The Rue Morgue By Edgar Allan Poe
The mind is a powerful tool that can either empower or enslave, depending on how wisely one
uses it. Edgar Allan Poe, an American author, is a Dark Romantic and Gothic writer. He is also a
famed poet, and critic, who struggled with alcoholism, poor health, and the loss of his loved
ones. He lived a life of poverty, and did not live long enough to see his work become successful.
He is famously known as the father of the detective stories. Poe s intellect is reflected in three of
his short stories such as; The Pit and the Pendulum, The Murder in the Rue Morgue, and The
Purloined Letter. Contrary to most Dark Romantic works, logic and reason trump emotion in Poe s

construe solutions to difficult problems. Hiding the letter is carefully planned out and requires a
high level of competence to understand exactly where the police would not look. Likewise, it
requires a high level of competence to find the letter and solve the mystery. Dupin is able to do this

What are the end results? Police personnel and courtrooms are overburdened with these cases,
having little or no impact on prostitution. The prostitutes and their customers pay their fines and
are back to the streets in no time in a revolving door process. Catch and release may work for
recreational fishing but it has no deterring affect on prostitution.

safety, of the product. In attempts to prohibit alcohol consumption through the Volstead Act,
spending by the Bureau of Prohibition went from $4.4 million to $13.4 million annually. Spending
by the Coast Guard was an average $13 million per year in the 1920s for prohibition alone [Mark
Thornton]. In fact when per capita costs are analyzed, spending more to curb behavior did literally
nothing against consumption, making a total mockery of law enforcement efforts.
Social irresponsibility of this magnitude during the depression was horrific when considering how
these monies could have been spent to do good for society. Programs could have been developed
to help the unemployed. Healthcare could have been expanded to include social programs to drive
down high suicide rates.
It was thought prohibition would put an end to many social problems but it actually created many
more. Increasing the number of laws runs a risk of creating more criminals, and that is exactly
what had happened. Jails became filled. Government spending to pay for the housing and
maintenance of these criminals went up [Mark Thornton]. Compounded by the lack of intake from
alcohol tax, it placed huge dents on public coffers.
Prohibition caused many problems related to criminal activity. There was a causal link between
prohibition and an increase in homicides. During prohibition, homicide rates increased over 66%.
After prohibition was repealed on Dec. 5, 1933, the homicide rate immediately

Abstract Of Artificial Intelligence
Abstract Artificial Intelligence otherwise known as AI, it is the development and the theory of
some computer systems which are able to undertake certain tasks which will normally need the
intelligence of humans. The tasks that are normally in need of the human intelligence are the likes
of translation of languages, making decisions recognition of speech among others. Good examples
of these technologies that fall under the AI are; augmented reality, Virtual Assistants, and robots.
On the other hand, employee productivity can also be called workforce productivity. Productivity
is evaluated in terms of the output of employees within a given time. A Lot of US multinational
have embraced the use of this technology as it has been touted as leading to some financial
benefits(Bobrow,2005). My research is limited to American multinational corporations like Amazon
and Google. American Multinational Corporations using AI Technology Many of tech companies
and organization are putting into use the AI technologies that are made up of the robots,
augmented reality and even the virtual assistants. Recently there was a report that was undertaken
by Accenture in 12 nations and it showed that AI that is able to sense the environment has the
ability to know what is happening to lead to the taking of an action. All these would, later on,
lead to the rise in the levels of productivity to sales of 40% in the year 2035.The report goes on to
show that once AI is well utilized, there will

Flags Of Our Fathers Summary
For my third outside reading project of the year, I chose to read Flags of our Fathers by James
Bradley. Bradley s book fascinated me as it shifted from a soldier s pre war everyday life to their
experiences with Iwo Jima and WWII. Throughout his story, the third person point of view gave
a unique opportunity to set the historical context of a war imprinted into nearly everyone on this
planet s history. The authors use of chapters was ingenious as the choice gave him an ability to
show phases throughout the war torn era whether it was in as a young American man looking
for a purpose, the naive young soldier etching for a fight, or the experienced vet on his way
home from a traumatic world war. The story starts as giving some much needed historical
context, explains his connection and motivation behind the book. He says, six boys called to
me from half a century ago... and later explains One of those flag raisers was my father . That
motivation for writing this book is seen throughout as you can tell he has a passion for it, he s not
just a writer writing for a publisher. He s an American writing about his father s story of when he
was called on to protect his country. He introduces characters in more detail in chapter four where
the real story begins.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Two coming out of high school, one as a marine corporal, and even one as a funeral director s
apprentice. This is important to the history of the book, as it s able to give depth to this history
of WWII. Every man came from a different place, a different job, and a different way of life. It
shows how Americans felt their patriotic duty to fight, while also showing how citizens were
forced to drop everything as all out war erupted across the globe. He goes on telling the story of
their experiences and their war filled lives. The story touches on D day for four straight chapters as
the pain is evident

  • 3. Healthsouth Fraud Essay Culture During the 90 s, investors and lenders shifted their interest from a company s bottom line to its yearly revenue growth. Furthermore, companies with growing revenues were worthy of receiving investments to finance growth. The shifted focus motivated companies like HealthSouth to transition into practicing more aggressive revenue recognition policies. Aggressive eventually turned illegal when HealthSouth began overstating its revenues. From the 2 million journal entries under $5,000 recorded to source documents fabricated, HealthSouth went to great lengths to commit and conceal its fraud. In addition, employees were closely monitored to ensure that they were not arousing suspicion to HealthSouth s fraud. The leading force of HealthSouth s culture was the ... As one of the nation s leading medical service providers, over 51,000 employees across the country became uneasy during the fraud investigation. Tom Goetziner, a stock analyst, believed that HealthSouth would be applying for Chapter 11 as early as April 2003. However, he also added that some of their other services would remain available to the public. For example, HealthSouth owned fifty five locations providing various medical services throughout the state of Oklahoma. It is a point where for the first time in these young adults lives they are living on their own and actively making their own life decisions. These young adults are thrown into a world that seems so foreign to anything they have known, and so many new things are thrown their way that they just have to decide and do. The sudden newness of it all can cause many stressors amongst a wide margin of students who attend college. This new found stress may begin to gradually increase over time, which then leads to many college students developing depression. The depression experienced more often than not goes... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They may instead be partaking in activities that negatively suppress their depressive emotions. They lash out in aggressive emotions, or turn to alcohol and illegal substances. In fact, 45 % of college students end up binge drinking, and 25 % abuse drugs, both prescription and illegal (Tartakovsky). There is a stigma behind depression that makes admitting to the disease something that people just do not do out of their own will. This sense of shame then results in a large number of people going around undiagnosed and untreated for something as serious as depression. There needs to be a stronger conversation about how real depression is and how important it is to get help to treat it. The lack of a conversation being had is hurting college students further than their depression (Li). Due to some colleges not having accessible counseling services, or mental health programs, it helps in the results of self treatment of student s depression. Or simply due to the fact that some students do not know that they either have depression, or that there are services at their colleges that are there to help them. More colleges need to have outreach programs to help students to understand that it s okay to seek help and that there are many ways to manage their stress. Ways that do not include harming themselves and their bodies. It is statistically likely that if all of this stress begins to add up, suicidal thoughts may begin to occur. First World War Convergence Analysis According to the Merriam Webster dictionary, convergence is defined as independent development of similar characters often associated with similarity of habits or environment, ( Convergence ). World War I is a worthy example to discuss the idea of an event forming similar experiences in a variety of characters. Meaning, two ethnically dissimilar people raised in different environments, could have a convergence of experiences due to fighting in the same war; while two neighbors might diverge in all ways but their nationality. And although, the physical issues of the common citizens of Germany and India diverged essentially, the soldiers who fought for these nations obtained many parallel physical issues due to the nature of the war. In letter 138 of Omissi collection, Rajwali Khan wrote from the Kitchener s Indian Hospital to Ghulam Hussain: There is nothing but my corpse left. They have cut off the whole of one leg and one hand too is useless... There is nothing left of me. (Omissi 98). This can be correlated to when Kemmerich lost his foot, due to war sustained injuries and thus later became nothing but a corpse when he died (Remarque 14). The comparison of limbs lost in both the letters and the novel is a convergence between the two groups of soldiers. Another physical issue that both the Indian and German soldiers experienced was the lack of food, and accordingly, the constant state of hunger. In the novel, Paul remarked with us food is pretty scarce and none of it too good at that, (Remarque 189). This quotation had Paul commenting on how the food was unpalatable and limited, and there was not even enough food to feed them all. The Indian soldiers also referenced the lack of food, like how in letter 221 Shambo discussed how the home front was blessed because they get a bellyful of food, while the soldiers are starving on the battlefield (Omissi 140). This is because in the theater of war as Paul acknowledged everything gets eaten, notwithstanding, and if ever anyone is so well off as not to want all of his share, there is a dozen others standing by ready to relieve him of it, (Remarque 189). Basically, there were always people who end up with no food, no matter how much the soldiers conserved, or shared their food. So, the lack of food for both the German and Indian soldiers is another physical aspect that converged between the diverse group of soldiers. Along with the connection ... In the glory days of the 90s dynasty, Aikman had a massive offensive line that featured tackles Mark Tuinei and Erik Williams, guards Nate Newton and Kevin Gogan, and center Mark Stepnoski that gave Aikman enough time to get the football to his outlets. What the maulers did best was pave the way for the great Emmitt Smith a physical all around back the offense centralized their gameplans around. Now Garrett, like Turner and Zampese had to work with, has the tools in place for the offense to be a juggernaut. Starting with the receivers, Garrett has a beast in Dez Bryant (6 2, 225 lbs.) able to dominate with the same prowess Irvin took to the gridiron, and Terrance Williams (6 2, 208 lbs.) opposite of Bryant with some similarities as Harper (can get up and get the ball). Notice the comparison in size that Irvin and Harper had? Insert Brice Butler (6 3, 215 lbs.) and the Cowboys have the ideal receivers wanted in the system prototypical sized route runners able to get downfield. Lots of eyes will be on Butler, who has the size and speed to potentially take over for Williams the current Z receiver on the roster. Williams should put up better numbers than Mohamad Sanu the Bengals former number two receiver who signed a five year, $32 million deal with the Falcons. • 14. A Proposal to Implement a Gigabit Internet Setup for ABC... IT Proposal The proposal attached herein this report proposes the cheapest and most cost effective way to implement a Gigabit internet setup for ABC Inc s offices. Since all of the offices and workstations in question are within 150 feet of the company s wiring closet, it will not take a lot of infrastructure to get the job done. However, ABC should not cheap out and get the bare minimum setup either. Proposed Equipment As for the cabling that would be required to get Gigabit internet, or 1000 megabits per second, that would call for either Category 5+, 5e or 6. Any one of those three is technically capable of supporting Gigabit speeds. All three have been out for some time now and it would be best to go ahead and spend the extra amount, although not too much extra, on the category 6 cable. If this is done, it is extremely unlikely that any re cabling would have to occur for the foreseeable future (Lowe, 2002). The reason the author of this proposal would highly recommend category 6 is because gigabit internet is the fastest that 5 and 5e can run at. As such, if there is any increase in the speed of the other internet equipment in the coming years, an upgrade to speeds would require re cabling of the actual network cable as well and that day is coming sooner than one may think. Using 5 or 5e would be foolish because category 6 is not that much more expensive and category 6 can handle ten gigabit (10,000 mbps) internet at its top end В¦and that is just an estimate. It ... This creates greater competition between teams and more excitement for the fans. If a league did not have a salary cap, only teams that have a history of winning games and championships are able to pay top dollars for the best players. The cause of the large gap simply could have been a measuring mistake and or possibly an added human error. We tested the same base (Sodium Hydroxide) with three different acids (Acetic Acid, Nitric Acid, and Hydrochloric Acid) all at one molarity; results are shown in Table 2. After testing our three experiments we discovered a pattern with our acid and base reactions. Noticing that when we tested a stronger acid with a base the reaction would give off higher heat energy readings; versus the weak acid we tested. Which proves that there is a connection between chemical strength and heat energy. Leaving us with the conclusion that the stronger the chemical used, the greater heat energy released from the reaction that took place. Moving on with our project into week two we continued to test acids and bases; but, we changed the acid and base molarity this time as seen in Table 3. The point of this experiment was to see if the acid and base molarity (that we changed from 1, 3, and to 6 moles) would affect the amount of heat energy given off. • 20. Confucius And Confucianism Confucius s philosophical teachings about government and society discussed in the Analects revolve around morality and how a ruler and his people should act in order to stabilize society. Confucius looked to the past to discuss the problems of the present by modeling his teachings from the former Zhou empire. Confuciussought to bring back the Zhou traditions in order to better society. By linking moral behaviors to social roles and hierarchies, he emphasized that the stability of the government and society was directly correlated to the relationship between the ruler and the people. With the title Son of Heaven, the ruler was expected to act morally towards his subjects and treat them with love and concern ( Introduction to Confucian Thought , 2009). This idea is directly related to the concept of ren, which discusses the well being of others as the moral drive of society. He extended this idea into social harmony, being first and foremost embedded in the family. Confucius believed that the virtue of filial piety was the foundation for not just family life but also had implication for the ruler subject bond ( Mencius and his development of Confucian teachings , n.d.). Similarly, Mencius centered his teachings on this idea by stressing that the well being of the family directly corresponded to the well being of the state. We must keep this interaction safe and secure so we don t face the same issues we suffered from in 2001 with denial of service attacks and the defacement of our website. Attackers abuse vulnerabilities within the software of webservers to compromise our website security. We have network security measures in place such as our firewall but we still need to strengthen our webservers which can be access from anywhere as long as there is an internet connection. (Kumar) Strengthening our web server security will help protect against known vulnerabilities that bypass the firewall system and can compromise our web applications. • 27. The Notebook And The Last Song Essay The famous Nicholas Sparks novels The Notebook and The Last Song are based on non fictional events, while Rapunzel is a fictional short story fully based on fairytale. Although these are two different genres, all three pieces share a common story line and even the same themes. The story line, like any princess fairytale or romantic novel involves two people who fall in lovebut go through many obstacles to be together. However, in the end, they live happily ever after. The two themes that these three pieces of literature have in common are determination and fate. Throughout this paper you will see this story line and those themes unfold. We hear determination in our everyday lives, no matter our age nor our location. Although we may hear this constantly, determination is something very hard to obtain. For these stories, the word determination is nothing but known and relived constantly through the character s lives. In addition to determination, we hear the word fate constantly. We ve heard this growing up through watching any and every Disney movie out there, including Rapunzel . The definition, according to Wikipedia, is as followed: be destined to happen, turn out, or act in a particular way. Everyone is born with a fate, we are all here on this earth for a different purpose and fate. We just don t know our fate as we go through life, just like these characters. Social class determines where people will live, how well educated they may be, their occupation, their physical health, their mental health, the forms of recreation they enjoy, their social networks, their political views, their attitudes toward childrearing, and how long they may live. (Vissing, 2011) It also plays a big role in how people view themselves, as well as how others view them. Social classcan also play a role in the potential of how successful someone can be. While gender stratification was discussed the most, it was clear that all types of social stratification still exist today. 59 percent of the gender and socialization citations directed the readers to the inequality sections of the textbook, particularly the gender chapter. This suggests that socialization plays more of an explanatory role in gender inequality in introductory textbooks than it does for race or class. (Puentes, Gougherty 163) If this information was not available in textbooks or discussed in classrooms, then you could go as far to say that social stratification did not exist. Another article I researched talked about how most authors focused on gender rather than social class. There is a significant lack of information pertaining to social class and a greater emphasis on gender. However, differences in socialization by class were not used to explain class inequality or the reproduction of the class structure; instead, the focus tended to be on the uneven distribution of economic resources and opportunities. When class socialization was discussed, it was likely to be several paragraphs instead of the several pages that were devoted to gender socialization in the gender chapters. Film, Spirited Away, By Miyazaki Hayao In Miyazaki Hayao s animated film, Spirited Away, Miyazaki presents a young girl Chihiro who visits an abandoned amusement park, only to become trapped in a fantasy world where spirits reside. Although most of these creatures are very unique and quite unlike the others, most of them have one thing in common: their body features are very disproportional compared to the size of their bodies. This strange similarity depicted by Miyazaki invokes strong feelings of fear and appreciation in particular for the viewer. While many characters have ominous, creepy appearances similar to that of a ghost, they still have large eyes, blob shaped bodies, and they make little to no noise. These three characteristics emphasize the helplessness the cuteness of these creatures. The ominous appearance of the characters does however quickly begin to clash more obviously with their cute defining factors. In one early particular scene, Chihiro encounters a radish spirit: a large, round creature whose body shape resembles a radish. At first, the creature is threatening to the viewer, as it is large compared to most characters and its appearance is foreign and bizarre. But even though the spirit appears scary, Chihiro sticks around it briefly, and the viewer is prompted to further observes its figure. At that point, the the rotundness of the spirit radish s figure becomes more apparent, and the viewer is lead to see him as not just threatening anymore, but also cute. What Richard Alleva is saying is that Nick Bottom is one of the greatest characters that provide comic relief in Shakespeare s play. Shakespeare uses Bottom to provide comedy to the play, in which most of the play is based around him and his antics. Bottom messes up grammar, spelling, and everything that Quince, the author of Pyramus and Thisbe, had wanted for the play for the Duke and Duchess. Examples of his Ass like qualities are seen in the first act. For instance, Bottom says You were best to call them generally, man by man, according to the scrip (1.2.2). What makes him a fool in this statement is that he uses the word generally, instead of the word individually. Also he uses the word scrip, when he really means to use the word script. Another great example of Bottom s foolishness, acting as Pyramus: Thisbe, the flowers of odious savors sweet (3.1.59). This mistake perfectly reflects Bottom because he should have said the word odors instead of odious in the sentence. Odors means fragrant smells, while odious means repulsive. This humor is obvious to everybody watching that Bottom had made a mistake. So these are just a few examples to explain how Bottom was a fool and provided laughter. Bradley s book fascinated me as it shifted from a soldier s pre war everyday life to their experiences with Iwo Jima and WWII. Throughout his story, the third person point of view gave a unique opportunity to set the historical context of a war imprinted into nearly everyone on this planet s history. The authors use of chapters was ingenious as the choice gave him an ability to show phases throughout the war torn era whether it was in as a young American man looking for a purpose, the naive young soldier etching for a fight, or the experienced vet on his way home from a traumatic world war. The story starts as giving some much needed historical context, explains his connection and motivation behind the book.
