Persuasive Essay On Gun On Campus
Guns on College Campuses
If one wants to know if guns should be allowed on college campus think of this: When will the next
college be hit? How many will get shot and killed? Will it be your kids? When is the last time you will
be able to see your kids? Now since I got this running through your head don t you think its right for
college students to be able to carry a gun if they re qualified?
College students who have a good background check and no felonies should be able to carry guns on
their campus nationwide. I personally think a lot more kids would feel safer if they could have a gun
on them everyday for protection. All the good students will be able to carry. There can not be even one
student that can carry a gun that has a bad history ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At college or not yes any one can get killed but think of it like this it almost a holiday your kid is
supposed to come home for the holiday and they are on their last day before break. Well, what if the
school gets shot up? And you have been waiting on him or her to come home you made a nice dinner
for the family or something. You re just sitting outside waiting on your kid never shows up then you
get a call. Or cops come up to your house and tell you what happened. Or if the news comes on and
says such and such college got shot up so many kids got hurt, shot or killed. See if your kid did have a
gun he or she has a lot of a better chance to survive a college shot up because a twisted minded guy or
girl that isn t straight in the mind and starts to shoot everyone. And knowing that they can carry guns
you know that they have gun control classes so they have protection and you wouldn t have to worry
about your kid being killed because they have their own protection and while police are out trying to
stop them they have back up and the shooter doesn t have an idea of you having a gun you could take
him out from a different side.
If you have ever notice its all the collages that has the no gun sign on the door that s when a lot of
shooters like to shoot up the place is because they know the kids wont have protection to save them
self no if the signs were not up there they wouldn t have any idea

Caparo Industries Vs Dickman Essay
Although the Health and Safety at work etc. Act 1974 provides criminal legislation for employers,
there are various key health and safety requirements that identify a duty of care owed to an employee
by an employer, that have been set via precedents. This essay aims to identify the key health and
safety requirements owed by an employer to an employee, deriving from common law, including the
principle of vicarious liability
Common Law
The case Caparo Industries v Dickman is a leading case that identifies a test to determine whether or
not an employer owes a duty of care within a negligence case. In this case Caparo Industries had taken
over a company called Fidelity and they seud Dickman for negligence in the preparation of accounts.

In this case a warden in charge of maintain discipline in a boarding house, sexually abused boys aged
between 12 and 15. His duties where to ensure order, make sure children went to bed, school and took
part in organised activities. Lord Steyn was satisfied that the employers entrusted the warden with
caring for the children at the boarding home. He stated that the wardens acts were so closely
connected with his employment that it would be fair and just to hold the employers vicariously liable .
This went against the Salmond test, which Lord Steyn deemed inadequate, providing an example of
how the current test could deem a bank not liable for a employee defrauding a customer and pocketing
money unless the bank was set up to defraud customers. In this case the Salmond test would find the
employer not liable, as it was not his job role to sexually abuse the children. Steyn s new close
connection test focused on three main principles; a broad approach should be adopted when
considering the scope of employment, the time and place of the act should not be conclusive in
reaching a decision, and there must be a connection between the employees duties and the acts
committed. This test is fairer in identifying whether an employer should be held vicariously liable.
The expansion of this scope of employment is further visited in the case Dubai Aluminium Co Ltd v
Salaam and Others where a dishonest fraud act by an employee was also deemed as being closely
connected with the scope of employment, so therefore the employer could be held liable for an
employees dishonest actions during the ordinary course of business, so they were deemed joint liable

Epipen Research Paper
There is no doubt that the study of chemistry has changed the world dramatically. Under the right
circumstances, many advances in the realm of chemistry can save lives. The EpiPen® has been a
wonderful chemical developed tool, aiding in potentially lethal allergic reactions such as anaphylaxis.
It is important to understand what an EpiPen® is, and how it works to one day save a life if necessary.
What will further be discussed is what an EpiPen® is, how it is made, used, and how it works
chemically in the human body.
The EpiPen® is an auto injecting pen made with epinephrine. Epinephrine commonly known as
adrenaline, is a chemical compound with the formula C9H13NO3. Epinephrine is a sympathomimetic
hormone, meaning a hormone that produces physiological effects in the body from the sympathetic
nervous system.2 Epinephrine, or adrenaline is naturally produced in the adrenal medulla. Upon its
release in the body, causes vasoconstriction or the shrinking of blood vessels, stimulates the heart, and
opens up the bronchi in the lungs. Epinephrine is a compound classified as a Catecholamine. A

shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, and fast heart beat. The most serious threat to the human life

Life Lessons Along A Christian s Journey
Life Lessons along a Christian s Journey
The Bible has stories and lessons that communicates to each of us in different areas of life. The Bible
is the guide to everyone s salvation. Understanding God s voice is understanding the existence of all
the living. It is up to each person to choose a godhead life or not. The responsibility in a godhead life
does not come easy. The understanding, connecting and unity in a godhead life comes with many tests
and trials along the journey, but faith is all it takes.
Understanding
Christians understand that the Bible is from God. There is so much to take in, but we have a lifetime
to get to know God and what are place is in this universe. God does speak to each of us, we just have
to listen. God is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The entire bible is one book, has one author, the Holy Spirit, and has one purpose, to show the fall of
man and God s way to redeem him. No one cannot understand the New Testament without
understanding the Old Testament first.
Connecting
The Old Testament and the New Testament are one book; one balances the other. In the Old Testament
life started when God decided to make Adam, Let us make human beings in our image, (Genesis 1:24
NIV) . God revealed himself to humans. This is where God connected on a personal level with each of
us and we learned how to speak to God. This is also the time when the Fall of Man was redeemed. We
all may agree that again and again we fall down , but God is right there. We just have to believe and
pray for God s guidance. God shows grace, forgiveness and love. God sent his son, Lord Jesus Christ
to show us physically and visibly what God is like. God again revealed himself to the world, by his
unconditional love. God is constant in his words. Throughout the Bible starting in the Old Testament
that God s son is coming and tells how he is coming. In the New Testament, Christ is sent to save all
our sins and uphold the universe. It is important to understand this from the beginning, because
whatever is true of God the Father is true of Jesus Christ the Son and is true of the Holy Spirit. God is
three persons, but one God. God is REAL.
Role
To understand God is to understand that, The Father is God: Jesus Christ is God; the Holy Spirit is

Sealed Air Case Essay
Sealed Air Corporation has been the market leader in the protective packaging market for many years.
Unanticipated competitors have entered the market offering uncoated bubble packaging which has
gained significant market share from Sealed Air s AirCap® coated bubble packaging material. To
regain market share and expand Sealed Air s business, a swift strategy of introducing uncoated bubble
products needs to be implemented. By leveraging their large distribution network and existing
manufacturing infrastructure, Sealed Air can capture the price sensitive customers before their
competitors have time to expand. Sealed Air prides itself on being the market leader and fostering

In that case, Sailed Air would perform in a safe zone with well known products and respect its culture
of innovative products manufacturer. However, we found that this strategy would not acknowledge the
reality of the change in the market, which is the strong demand of cheaper product and the growing
presence of GAFCEL. Eventually, Sealed Air could compromise its leadership by allowing GAFCEL
to develop and expand to become a significant market player. 2) Merger or Acquisition to defend
market share. Considering two options: a) Acquire its closest competitor and licensee Astro
Packaging. This operation would allow Sealed Air to get a critical size and increase its revenue to
mitigate the impact of the raise of GAFCEL. The disadvantage of this option is that it won t provide a
significant competitive advantage due to inferiority of Astro s manufacturing process. b) Merge with
GAFCEL. By this mean, Sealed Air would enlarge its portfolio of products with uncoated products,
diversity its workforce, and take advantage of the technological innovations of GAFCEL. The
downside of this approach is that it bears significant financial and organizational risks. 3) Introduce
uncoated bubble product variety. The last option is to enter the market of uncoated products. We think
that this is the right response for Sealed Air in this situation. The investment in PPE required to
produce uncoated products are limited. Therefore, the battle will be

Finding Truth in Lies in Ernest Hemingway s A Farewell to...
Finding Truth in Lies in A Farewell to Arms
The foundation of Hemingway s A Farewell to Arms is based on lies. Hemingway exposes the reality,
or truth, of love and war by presenting the story of Lieutenant Henry and Catherine Barkley, lives
ironically entrenched in lies. Henry in particular assumes a different role at every turn, pretending, for
example, to be a soldier, a civilian, a doctor or Barkley s dead fiancé.
The lies in Henry s life begin when he joins the Italian army. Here, he pretends to be one of the guys,
silently siding with their bawdy humor and macho activities and not the morality of the priest.
Hemingway best displays this conflict in the scene where the priest urges Henry to visit Abruzzi while

Henry pretends to be a civilian, adopting many different forms of that which is anything but military
dress.
Also, when the Swiss authorities question the purpose of Henry and Barkley s presence in
Switzerland, he again must pretend to be other than an American member of the Italian army. Henry
says to the officials he is a sportsman in Switzerland for the winter sport (279, 280). He also tells the
officials he has been studying architecture. My [Henry s] cousin has been studying art (280). Henry
uses this blatant lie to become a civilian, hiding his military background.
Others also understand Henry s tendency to pretend. For example, Rinaldi comments that Henry only
pretend[s] to be an American (66). The priest later contradicts this statement: You [Henry] are a
foreigner. You are a patriot (71). Henry often plays the role of the patriotic Italian, then the role of the
patriotic American, then the role of the concerned observer, while never committing to any one
ideology. Rinaldi and the priest have seen this change in facades within Henry, as he assumes different
defining characteristics.
One of Henry s greatest lies centers around his relationship with Barkley. Initially, Henry wants
Barkley only for physical satisfaction, and he will do whatever she wants to get some. He tells her he
loves her with the hope that the declaration will prompt her to kiss him: I lied. I love you (30). Once

In The Biblical Story Of Cain And Abel, God As The Omnipotent
In the Biblical story of Cain and Abel, God as the omnipotent deity knows that Cain killed Abel. Still,
he asks Cain where is Abel. Cain says a very famous sentence asking God is he is Abel s keeper. To
this, God decides to punish Cain. He says that Cain will be cursed from the earth, which until this
point was Cain s source of living. When Cain would work on earth, it would not give him its strength.
He will be a wanderer and a vagabond from that day. Cain replied that his punishment is greater than
he can bear. Although many can disagree with him, some say that this punishment is not that great,
God did not kill or even punished him in some physical way. But it has to be remembered that in this
story, there were only four people known at ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is the greatest punishment, it shows that Cyrus is no God like figure whatsoever and that he is a
human after all, he would repeat the same crime as his son Charles did, he would commit a crime and
then he would feel guilty for it. Somebody told Charles that night that his father is looking for him
with the shotgun and naturally, he hides from him for two weeks, and when he finally return, murder
had sunk back to simple anger and he paid his penalty in overwork and a false theatrical humility
(East of Eden 45). So again, some readers can say that punishment was after all not very serious or
maybe not so rightful, but as the story goes, it is clear that Charles is punished by himself, because
after this incident, he isolates himself even more, his father apparently loves him even less and
Charles is haunted by this forever. David McCright claims that Charles does not have to stand before
God , like Cain had to, but he has to be called to account for his deeds, but it is the God of memory or
conscience (McCright 13). The letters that Charles keeps writing to Adam are proof of this destructive
guilt that he has. Although in those letters he keeps blaming Cyrus for rejecting his gift and he defends
his behavior, he writes that he simply had to take after (East of Eden 48) Adam. Nevertheless he still
feels guilt for what he did and wishes to trade places with Adam. He writes that

The Bible On Gender Roles In The Bible
The Bible on Gender Roles
The Holy Bible is full of advice on every issue known to humanity. This advice varies in topics from
society s functions to foreign policy and even gender roles. Today s western culture is very confused
when it comes to gender roles, swinging over the last over 50 years from a male dominated society to
a large portion of the feminist society fighting for female dominance and the disappearance of
chivalry. Society is always searching for answers from science and philosophy but constantly fails to
look in the right places. The Bible is the foundation of truth and it requires the ultimate amount of
attention if any community plans to be successful for any length of time. The education of modern
society on what the Bible says about gender roles is necessary to achieve mutual understanding of
beliefs.
The Bible is full of statements and teachings on the topic of gender. Unfortunately, these are often
ignored in the home. For example, the different roles of mothers and fathers. The Bible claims that
mothers are called to be involved in the teaching, nurturing, and mentorship of their children.
According to Proverbs 13:24, fathers are also called to discipline their children, to teach them, and to
mentor them. Parents roles are very similar according to the Bible with the caveat that fathers are
called to be the disciplinarians and leaders of the household. Another example of the differences
between genders according to the Bible is that of a Godly

Animal Poaching In Zimbabwe
Poaching in Zimbabwe has been a major issue in Zimbabwe since the mid 1800 s. Many of Zimbabwe
s wild animals have suffered a massive decline in population due to poaching. The best way to stop
the decline of wild animals in Zimbabwe is drones. Using drones will give rangers an upper hand
against animal poachers by monitoring and tracking different animals and poaching zones. For the
past 2 decades, Endangered animals are being killed for simple body parts tusks, bones, or pelts
illegally for money. Many poaching laws have been established in Zimbabwe but none of these laws
have been effective.
Poaching
has been illegal for hundreds of years, but it was during the Late Middle Ages that poaching
became a punishable offense. During this time, the right to hunt was limited to landowners and
nobility. Peasants usually did not have weapons, skills or the extra time to hunt, so in order to provide
food for their families they devised another way to bring meat to their tables ( How Poaching works ).
Since the middle ages people have always been buying and selling animals but as life got tougher for
the poor they had to resort to killing and selling body parts of animals to gain money. In the mid 1800
s hunting was only for the wealthy and privileged but as poverty increased poaching levels did too.
While hunting was reserved for the privileged, it was illegal to buy and sell wild animals. It remained
illegal to do so until the mid 1800s. Gangs of poachers formed outlaw

Thomas Hart Benton s Impact On The Regionalist Movement Art
Thomas Hart Benton was a muralist and an American painter. He had focus on the Regionalist
movement art along with Grant and John Curry. Thomas Benton has had a great impact on the color,
the resonant ideas and exuberance. Benton identified different diverse ideas of contradiction: the
rituals and the urban, freedom, oppression, the poor, rich labor and entertainment (Marling, 1982). As
Mural developed the ideas, he span two epochs on the excess of Jazz Age and bitter side of depression
in the country. This was expressed in the art work that he presented in the Metropolitan Museum of
Art.
The painting was done 1930 to 1931 which was paced on the New School board room from social
research in the city of New York. This painting attracted attention and was bought by Equitable Life
then later to Metropolitan Museum as an exhibit. Benton developed 10 panels of which a lot of them
were 7.5 feet in height and 9 feet in width. The painting was in egg tempera having an oil glaze, strong
attractive colors, wide modulation and a very much gleaming surfaces (Benton, 1983). The painting
had an aluminum frame, with complexity in mounding and curves in the right angles that showed the
vignettes in the panel and addition of emphatic strength (Dennis,1998). The paining showed changes
in activities in the production of corn that was juxtaposed with clearing of the land for the activities.

The Big Short Is A Financial Crisis Movie Directed By...
The big short is a financial crisis movie directed by Adam McKay and released in 2015. It bases on a
truth story that some smart investors bet against the United State mortgage market in 2006 to 2008.
Michael Burry, an eccentric hedge fund manager, discovered with his own research that the United
State housing market was a bubble about to burst within in a couple years. He started to bet against the
United State mortgage backed securities market by convincing some large banks to create a credit
default swap market, which was kind of a bond insurance police, and he invested about $1,3 billion in
the credit default swap market. If he was right about the market collapse, his fund would bust up very
high and make a hug profit. On the other hand, his fund would be gone if the market stay stable.
Through Michael Burry s idea and action, the banker Jared Vennett who worked at Deutschebank
quickly learned and understood that Burry s predictions was likely true, and he made himself an
opportunity of earning fees on selling those credit default swap to the firms, which the firms could
earn profit when the underlying mortgage bonds fail. He came to Mark Baum office and tried to
convince him to buy credit default swaps. His explanation about the market collapse would being
more perpetuated by the packaging of subprime loans into collateralized debt obligations (CDOs).
Through Vennett s convincing, Mark Baum and his associated started to investigate the Miami
housing market. He first

Conflicts In The Wuthering Heights
The treatment of the poor at the hands was polar. Where some were very harsh to them, some like Mr.
Lockwood (the initial master of the Wuthering Heights) was strict but still kinder.
The tussle between Mr. Heathcliff (poor)and Mr. Lockwood s eldest son(rich) serves as a metaphor.
It also brings to notice the ever ongoing tussle between the will of heart and the will of the society,
specially in the case of women who are forced by the society and by the already laid norms to defy
what they actually want and be satisfied with what their family or the society want. The aspect of
human selfishness, jealousy and greed are also depicted in the book.

Pancreatic cancer is a highly lethal disease that is ranked fourth among cancer related deaths in
Norway. 31 Yearly 600 650 new cases are detected, corresponding to 7 per 100 000 inhabitant. The
survival rate five years after diagnosis is very low, at only 5 %. 19 Approximately 90 % of patients
diagnosed with advanced pancreatic cancer survive less than one year, with a median survival of 5 6
months. The high mortality rate is connected to late diagnosis, early metastasis and poor response to
chemo and radiotherapy. 34 Pancreatic cancer can be inherited, but 90 % of cases are considered
sporadic. 19 The major histological type of pancreatic cancer is ductal pancreatic adenocarcinoma

Evidence shows that some families have increased risk of pancreatic cancer, implying a genetic
contribution. 28 The genetic base for this increased risk has not been identified yet, but mutations in
BRCA2 and PALB2, among others, are associated with greater risk of disease 37. Only 5 10 % of
patients have a family history of the disease. 19 It has been shown that in families with four or more
cases of pancreatic cancer the risk of disease is 57 times higher than in families with no history of
disease. 19
1.1.2 Stage and diagnostics
Pancreatic cancer tumors are staged according to tumor node metastasis (TNM) classifications of the
American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC). The staging of tumors is based on tumor size and
localization, and connected to resectability. 19 Further staging reflect whether lymph node metastasis
(N stage) or distant metastasis (M stage) are present. Tumor stage, nodal stage and distant metastasis
are combined into stages which tell about the overall disease. See Table 1 for complete overview of
this staging strategy. 19

Should Anabolic Steroids Be Banned
Athletes are always looking for an edge on their competition, some choose to go as far as to use
anabolic steroids to modify their genetics. Anabolic steroids are used by athletes to improve physical
performance, as the synthetic hormone resembles testosterone and promotes muscle growth. These
substances are a part of the banned substances list, and are outlawed by all professional sports
organizations. But is it time to lift this ban? If steroids were widely accepted, professional sports
would become more entertaining, the playing field would become more even, and the distribution and
consumption of the enhancers would become safer. Steroids need to become legalized to improve
professional sports. Steroids are proven to make sports more entertaining, ... Show more content on

Much of the time steroids can be a dangerous business, as additives are put in to make the steroids
discreet in the body. According to professor, Julian Savulescu at the University of Oxford, Because
doping is illegal, the pressure is to make performance enhancers undetectable, rather than safe.
Performance enhancers are produced or bought on the black market and administered in a clandestine,
uncontrolled way with no monitoring of the athlete s health. Allowing the use of performance
enhancers would make sport safer as there would be less pressure on athletes to take unsafe enhancers
and a pressure to develop new safe performance enhancers and to make existing enhancers more
effective at safe dosages... . By legalizing this performance enhancer, it would allow for big
pharmaceutical companies to distribute safely to athletes. No longer would athletes have to take
dangerously high doses, because these companies could make an incremental amount of the drug very
potent. This is one the biggest reasons why steroids remain illegal, is because they are seen as
dangerous. But contrary to popular belief, the legalization of steroids would make them more safe.
The legalization of steroids is needed to further professional sports. Many benefits can be had from
this rule change. It will bring excitement back to the fans and bring in more income for sports teams.
Historic records will seem attainable and will bring new fans to sports. It will allow for dreams of hard
working people to become a reality. Genetics would no longer be a hindrance. It will also make
steroids safer. So that athletes don t need to risk their health to become the best. If we see steroids

Mayan Ball Game Essay
Montaigne had very in depth opinions about the new world and how he felt simple and civilized
societies operated. Even though in his excerpt he defends cannibalism which would usually discredit
the writer, he still makes some very valid points. It is in fact barbaric to kill a living person, and to
make a mockery out of them by hanging is inhumane. Montaigne even goes as far as to call war the
human disease and believed it was more constant between the Europeans than it was the natives. One
thing that can be agreed upon is the savagery of a group of people that would sacrifice a living person.
In the Mayan ball game, anybody who lost the game which happened to be kings or high officials
most of the time, were killed and sacrificed to the Gods. The Mayan ball game was an opportunity for
the Mayans to show their loyalty to the gods by sacrificing captured kings, high lords, or losing
opponents. It was an alternative to war for cities nearby, for settling issues they had with each other.
There were always many spectators to watch this game. To have many people watch the game and
watch the losers get sacrificed to the gods, regardless of their beliefs is inhumane. To the Mayans, this
game was normal and necessary for survival but from the outside looking in, one might think their
behavior is barbaric. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the other hand, many can understand why he would say it is more barbaric to kill a living man than
to eat a dead man. Murder is unacceptable in any form, whether it is a part of religious beliefs or not.
Montaigne would feel the Mayan ball game is a ritual for savages. However, the game turns the tables
as far as Montaigne s views on simple and civilized societies goes. In this case the simple societies are
sacrificing the kings and high officials or as he would refer to them as civilized

The American Dream In The Great Gatsby By F. Scott Fitzgerald
The American Dream has enticed generations of people of varying socioeconomic statuses to seek
new lives in a budding nation. While there are innumerable definitions of this dream, the conventional
perspective centers around how accumulating material wealth engenders happiness, the falsity of
which is explored in F. Scott Fitzgerald s 1925 novel, The Great Gatsby. Though Fitzgerald critiques
this viewpoint, he fails to present an alternative. Much like Fitzgerald, I believe that a capitalist view
of the American Dream produces misery, whereas cultivating a conscience and engaging one s
passions elicits the opposite, something that all Americans should endeavor to find. Central to every
interpretation of the American Dream is joy, predominantly believed to stem from accumulating
wealth and possessions, however, the capitalistic nature of our society precludes the majority of
people from achieving this. Immigrants have journeyed here for hundreds of years with the hope of
finding such riches only to find that the disenfranchised remain as such upon arrival. Thus, American
Dream was built on the false pretenses that wealth is distributed relatively equally instead of the
reality that 99% of the nation s wealth belongs to .1% of the population. This makes garnering vast
wealth as Jay Gatsby did nearly impossible, hindering the jubilation of everyone that made theirs
contingent on such an occurrence. Furthermore, fiscal success in The Great Gatsby has an antithetical

What Is The Meaning Of The Poem Fifteen
Fifteen is a poem that was written by William Stafford about a story that happened while he was
fifteen. A quick summary for the story is , there was a fifteen year old boy. He found a motorcycle
running on its side in the grass. The rider had crashed and had fallen off the motorcycle and off the
bridge. The poem does not follow a rhyme scheme or meter, which means that there is rhythm in the
poem and it makes the poem more like a song. The poem has four stanza s and has five lines within
each stanza. Stafford explains that one summer when he was next to a bridge and saw a motorcycle
running while it is laying down on its side deep in the grass. South of the bridge on seventeenth I

Alliteration was also evident throughout the poem in the first line of the first stanza when he said
south of the bridge on seventeenth (Stafford, page 805, stanza 1). The alliteration is south and
seventeenth because both words start with an S . Imagery was found in the second stanza, which says,
I admired all the pulsing gleam, the shiny flanks (Stafford, page 805, stanza 2). The poet was looking
at the motorcycle and the sun was aimed directly in the glass of the motorcycle, which lets you see the
streaks, which are the pulsing gleam he mentioned. I stood there, fifteen (Stafford, page 805, line 6
from stanza 2). This is a repetition of his age and that he was a wise teenager because he got the man
back on his motorcycle. The learner profiles that are visible in the poem are thinker because Stafford
didn t steal the motorcycle, instead he helped the owner, Caring because he is a fifteen year old and is
a young adult who helped an injured man. Risk taker because he wanted to ride the motorcycle even
though he didn t have any experience with it. Principled because Stafford is a wise and thoughtful man

apparent with someone with mental retardation. He also faces many challenges due to his mental

I was really shocked that he didn t have his own caseworker. Most adults that I know that have a
developmental disability of some sort have a caseworker to help them transition through the different
stages in their life. I felt that this movie did a somewhat good job of portraying the developmental
disability of mental retardation.
This film has affected me as a potential service provider in a couple of different ways. If I were the
child s caseworker, I would try to work as a family to problem solve instead of going against the
father. The next thing I would do, would be to get Sam a caseworker or steer him to the right direction
of having one. I would also find resources to help him and his daughter as a family.
I did learn several new things about mental retardation during my research after the film. Mental
Retardation is often referred to as Intellectual Disability now. Also there is a new system to assessing
people for Mental Retardation. This system is called The Supports Intensity Scale (SIS) ( Tool
emphasizes needed, 2004). It assesses the individual as a whole and not just based of their IQ test. I
find that it is extremely important to assess individuals as a whole and not just off of one area. This
way as a service provider you have a better picture of the person as a whole and what they need to

Pros And Cons Of Microfossil
There s a new digital map limning the composition of the seafloor, and it s shown evidence of
microfossil graveyards off the coast of Australia, in addition to other complex deep ocean geology.
The interactive map is actually available via the online journal Geology, published August 9th. This
marks a first at creating an extensive, comprehensive map in the past 40 years. There hasn t been a
single attempt at such a map since the 1970s, which the University of Sydney has announced was
drawn by hand. The old map suggests much of the Southern Ocean around Australia is mainly covered
by clay blown off the continent, whereas our map shows this area is actually a complex patchwork of
microfossil remains, said study author Adriana Dutkiewicz, a sedimentologist at the University of
Sydney in a statement. Life in the Southern Ocean is much richer than previously thought. The
microfossils discovered are actually from a type of phytoplankton that takes in carbon dioxide and
excretes oxygen. Known as diatoms, these phyloplankton take roughly 20% of breathable oxygen in
the air, air we need to breathe. When they die, diatoms sink down to the dark musty abyssal of the
oceans, dragging all the their carbon with them. This process is referred to as carbon sink, and it helps

The Cellist Of Sarajevo Character Analysis
Revitalization Through Beauty The world refuses to do anything other than overlook the disruption of
beauty in our life. In that, the importance of beauty would be much lesser without tragedy for
comparison, for that beauty is only used to distract the world from what truly is happening beyond the
safety for our home. In the novel The Cellist Of Sarajevo by Steven Galloway the idea of beauty is
given to us through the melody played by the cellist in an area where a mortar fell and killed 22
innocent people. With that in sight, he brought sentience and tranquility through music all while
surrounded by death and destruction. In the midst of tragedy, the author used the music played by the

His tone was so reassuring, Hasan later recalls, that it made me breathe once more the odors of the

receiving along with yoga that is boosting their health. Yoga is a combination of asanas (poses and
postures), pranayama (regulated breathing), meditation and relaxation. Many yoga classes combine
other elements as well that include chanting, heating, music etc. There are variations in style and
teaching quality as well. There are various types of yoga and the poses and style vary in each type. For
instance, Iyengar and Hatha yoga are mostly made up of stretches and restorative poses, while vinyasa
and ashtanga tend to be more rigorous and athletic. Again, you do not sweat while practicing Yin
yoga. You can hold the pose for longer periods without sweating. Bikram yoga, on the other hand has
26 postures that are repeated twice in a room that must be heated at 105 degrees. So, you can imagine

Maltese Falcon Greed Quotes
The Maltese Falcon, released in 1929, was a detective story/novel written by Dashiell Hammett. It
was published in the magazine Black Mask in the September issue in 1929. The narrative has been
made into films several different times for the cinema. A common theme in The Maltese Falcon is
greed. Many, if not all, of the characters in The Maltese Falcon are viewed as greedy and selfish.
There are numerous instances of greed and selfishness in The Maltese Falcon. It seems that the most
possessive and greedy characters in the novel are Brigid O Shaughnessy and Caspar Gutman. About
halfway through the novel, Brigid informs Spade that she was employed by Gutman to retrieve the
falcon from the keeper General Kemidov. Brigid, although, has come to the conclusion that she will
keep the falcon instead of giving it to Gutman. Towards the end she recovers ownership of the
statuette in San Francisco and has agreed to return it to Gutman but she still cannot part ways with the
falcon (but gives it to Jacobi to give to Spade). In the last chapter of the novel, the viewer learns that
Brigid killed Miles Archer to disconnect herself with Floyd Thursby and to not need to share the
falcon with him. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is his greed that puts the entire narrative in motion as Gutman is the only person that originally
acquires knowledge about the past and actual value of falcon. At one point he discovers he has
received a false version of the falcon but he figures he will continue his adventure to acquire the actual
bird. For seventeen years I have wanted that little item and have been trying to get it. If I must spend
another year on the quest well, sir that will be an additional expenditure in time of only his lips moved
silently as he calculated five and fifteen seventeenths per cent.

The Impact of the British Empire s Rule on India
Introduction In this essay I will be discussing the impact that the rule of the British Empire had on
India s development as a nation. I will be looking at how British imperial rule both benefitted and
hindered the growth of India economically, socially, and culturally. To do this I will be looking at the
beginning of the British Empire s involvement in India, right up until India gained its independence
from Britain on the 15th of August 1947. The purpose of this essay is to examine the long lasting
effects of the British Empire on the Indian nation. India, like all colonies, was affected in many ways
by the age of imperialism, and those effects are still evident today. The essay will look at both sides of
the argument, allowing for positive and negative effects before finally concluding with a summary and
re iteration of the points and arguments made throughout the essay. The essay will avoid taking sides,
but rather the aim is to merely give an account of the positive and negative effects of British
imperialism in India. The essay as previously mentioned will focus on the economic, cultural, and
social effects.
Historical Context and Background
British involvement on the Indian subcontinent began early in the 17th Century through the British
East India Company and its business ventures and dealings. The early British Empire was composed
of several self governing colonies which

Roald Dahl s The Landlady
Roald Dahl s realistic fiction story, The LandLady, takes place at a bed and breakfast owned by the
landlady where she also lives. Billy Weaver, a seventeen year old guy, was looking for a place to stay,
and he walks by the landlady s house. He was going to keep walking when a sign suddenly caught his
eye and next thing he knew, he was ringing the doorbell. By using sentence variety with lots of
description, Roald Dahl creates the lesson that it is essential to be aware and conscientious of one s
immediate surroundings.
Throughout the story, the lack of awareness and being conscientious is a central issue that affects all of
the characters. Bill Weaver lacks an awareness of what is going on throughout the story and he is not
being cautious ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout the story, Billy is not aware and conscientious of his immediate surroundings. When Billy
is walking down the street and sees the landlady s sign, he seems to be drawn into the house. BED
AND BREAKFAST, it said. BED AND BREAKFAST, BED AND BREAKFAST. Each word was like
a large black eye staring at him through the glass. These words are holding him compelling him
forcing him to stay where he was and not to walk away from that house (2). This does not even make
Billy have the slightest doubt about anything. Dahl uses the sensory detail of sight to draw in the
reader to the sign as it did to Billy when Billy keeps repeating what the sign said over and over again.
Dahl not only uses sensory detail as a craft to develop his ideas, but he also uses sentence variety with
lots of description through his story. Dahl describing how Billy is being drawn to go to the house
shows his craft for developing his ideas. Billy found himself automatically starting forward into the
house. The compulsion or, more accurately, the desire to follow after her into that house was
extraordinarily strong (2). The way Dahl describes how Billy is feeling the desire to follow the lady
really helps the reader imagine and almost feel the urge that he is. With Dahl s

Maryville Slogan Analysis
From an outsider s point of view Maryville College may be just a college, but for those who have
visited, or even attend, know it is much more. Aside from academics and our covenant, nature is a
large part of being a Scot. Nature and Maryville College go hand in hand and everyone on campus
knows it. Some schools keep the effect of nature quite subtle, but that simply is not the case, here, at
Maryville College. Whether it is the walks between classes and buildings, weekly mountain challenge
activities, or the first year orientation you are in it. What is subtle, to at least most freshman, is that
Maryville College has a trademark slogan Fit. Green. Happy.™ Fit. Green. Happy.™ is apart of
mountain challenge and primarily focuses on exercise and being outdoors. As a school, Maryville
College tries to incorporate this idea into, not only student life but life after graduation. ... Show more

The idea of fit is to use fitness as medicine; whether that be physical or mental. If fitness is used as
medicine it is believed to give the user physical, anti aging, and emotional/mental benefits. Physical
benefits of fitness are pretty straight forward, but they include: better cardiovascular and joint health, a
stronger musculoskeletal system, and a decrease risk of heart disease. According to Bruce Guillaume,
head of mountain challenge and FGH, being fit increases the longevity and quality of life. He said life
was what you made of it use it or lose it. Mental benefits are a bit like the anti aging idea of being fit,
meaning it is not exactly straightforward. Some studies show that by being fit and moving provides an
ideal balance of neurotransmitters, which includes: the ability to focus, mood stability, and a happy

Platypus Vs Constitution
What do a platypus and the Constitution of the United States have in common? There have never been
and will never be anything like them again. Of course, for the platypus, that is obvious because God
created all animals uniquely. But the Constitution is a different story. It was the first of its kind. No
country had ever attempted a government like it before. So what makes it special? It was the blueprint
for a democratic republic, and it actually worked. The Constitution has one main pillar that has
supported it for the last 2 centuries. This is its precise balance of the power held by the government.
To accomplish this, the Constitution specifically states what powers Congress and the president have.
The government may not exceed these

Another factor that influence micelle formation is , the salt concentration and pH. The membrane
phospholipids are disrupted by mild nonionic detergents to isolate them but the isolated lipids should
be functional to react with the enzyme phospholipases. If pH and salt concentration is not maintained
at biological range, the micelles formed could be nonfunctional or denatured. This will make the
phospholipases reactivity with lipids impossible.
TLC is used this experiment is discontinuous method to analyze phospholipase reaction.
Spectrophotometry can be used to monitor enzymatic reaction activity continuously without
interrupting. However, TLC analysis more suitable method than spectrophotometry for following
phospholipase reactions because the products of the reaction does not have light absorption qualities
such as aromatic or conjugated pi system. However, products have polarity properties, which can be
exploited to measure the reaction using TLC.
This experiment has successfully demonstrated the isolation efficiently by TLC plate analysis. In

Now since I got this running through your head don t you think its right for college students to be able to carry a gun if they re qualified? College students who have a good background check and no felonies should be able to carry guns on their campus nationwide. Caparo Industries Vs Dickman Essay Although the Health and Safety at work etc. Act 1974 provides criminal legislation for employers, there are various key health and safety requirements that identify a duty of care owed to an employee by an employer, that have been set via precedents. This essay aims to identify the key health and safety requirements owed by an employer to an employee, deriving from common law, including the principle of vicarious liability Common Law The case Caparo Industries v Dickman is a leading case that identifies a test to determine whether or not an employer owes a duty of care within a negligence case. His duties where to ensure order, make sure children went to bed, school and took part in organised activities. Lord Steyn was satisfied that the employers entrusted the warden with caring for the children at the boarding home. He stated that the wardens acts were so closely connected with his employment that it would be fair and just to hold the employers vicariously liable . This went against the Salmond test, which Lord Steyn deemed inadequate, providing an example of how the current test could deem a bank not liable for a employee defrauding a customer and pocketing money unless the bank was set up to defraud customers. In this case the Salmond test would find the employer not liable, as it was not his job role to sexually abuse the children. Steyn s new close connection test focused on three main principles; a broad approach should be adopted when considering the scope of employment, the time and place of the act should not be conclusive in reaching a decision, and there must be a connection between the employees duties and the acts committed. This test is fairer in identifying whether an employer should be held vicariously liable. The expansion of this scope of employment is further visited in the case Dubai Aluminium Co Ltd v Salaam and Others where a dishonest fraud act by an employee was also deemed as being closely connected with the scope of employment, so therefore the employer could be held liable for an employees dishonest actions during the ordinary course of business, so they were deemed joint liable with the ... In the Old Testament life started when God decided to make Adam, Let us make human beings in our image, (Genesis 1:24 NIV) . God revealed himself to humans. However, we found that this strategy would not acknowledge the reality of the change in the market, which is the strong demand of cheaper product and the growing presence of GAFCEL. Eventually, Sealed Air could compromise its leadership by allowing GAFCEL to develop and expand to become a significant market player. 2) Merger or Acquisition to defend market share. Considering two options: a) Acquire its closest competitor and licensee Astro Packaging. This operation would allow Sealed Air to get a critical size and increase its revenue to mitigate the impact of the raise of GAFCEL. The disadvantage of this option is that it won t provide a significant competitive advantage due to inferiority of Astro s manufacturing process. b) Merge with GAFCEL. By this mean, Sealed Air would enlarge its portfolio of products with uncoated products, diversity its workforce, and take advantage of the technological innovations of GAFCEL. The downside of this approach is that it bears significant financial and organizational risks. 3) Introduce uncoated bubble product variety. Hemingway exposes the reality, or truth, of love and war by presenting the story of Lieutenant Henry and Catherine Barkley, lives ironically entrenched in lies. Henry in particular assumes a different role at every turn, pretending, for example, to be a soldier, a civilian, a doctor or Barkley s dead fiancé. The lies in Henry s life begin when he joins the Italian army. Here, he pretends to be one of the guys, silently siding with their bawdy humor and macho activities and not the morality of the priest. Hemingway best displays this conflict in the scene where the priest urges Henry to visit Abruzzi while the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Henry pretends to be a civilian, adopting many different forms of that which is anything but military dress. Also, when the Swiss authorities question the purpose of Henry and Barkley s presence in Switzerland, he again must pretend to be other than an American member of the Italian army. Henry says to the officials he is a sportsman in Switzerland for the winter sport (279, 280). He also tells the officials he has been studying architecture. My [Henry s] cousin has been studying art (280). Henry uses this blatant lie to become a civilian, hiding his military background. Others also understand Henry s tendency to pretend. For example, Rinaldi comments that Henry only pretend[s] to be an American (66). The priest later contradicts this statement: You [Henry] are a foreigner. You are a patriot (71). Henry often plays the role of the patriotic Italian, then the role of the patriotic American, then the role of the concerned observer, while never committing to any one ideology. Rinaldi and the priest have seen this change in facades within Henry, as he assumes different defining characteristics. One of Henry s greatest lies centers around his relationship with Barkley. Initially, Henry wants Barkley only for physical satisfaction, and he will do whatever she wants to get some. He tells her he loves her with the hope that the declaration will prompt her to kiss him: I lied. I love you (30). Once this false ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. In The Biblical Story Of Cain And Abel, God As The Omnipotent In the Biblical story of Cain and Abel, God as the omnipotent deity knows that Cain killed Abel. Still, he asks Cain where is Abel. Cain says a very famous sentence asking God is he is Abel s keeper. To this, God decides to punish Cain. He says that Cain will be cursed from the earth, which until this point was Cain s source of living. When Cain would work on earth, it would not give him its strength. He will be a wanderer and a vagabond from that day. Cain replied that his punishment is greater than he can bear. This is the greatest punishment, it shows that Cyrus is no God like figure whatsoever and that he is a human after all, he would repeat the same crime as his son Charles did, he would commit a crime and then he would feel guilty for it. Somebody told Charles that night that his father is looking for him with the shotgun and naturally, he hides from him for two weeks, and when he finally return, murder had sunk back to simple anger and he paid his penalty in overwork and a false theatrical humility (East of Eden 45). So again, some readers can say that punishment was after all not very serious or maybe not so rightful, but as the story goes, it is clear that Charles is punished by himself, because after this incident, he isolates himself even more, his father apparently loves him even less and Charles is haunted by this forever. David McCright claims that Charles does not have to stand before God , like Cain had to, but he has to be called to account for his deeds, but it is the God of memory or conscience (McCright 13). The letters that Charles keeps writing to Adam are proof of this destructive guilt that he has. Although in those letters he keeps blaming Cyrus for rejecting his gift and he defends his behavior, he writes that he simply had to take after (East of Eden 48) Adam. Nevertheless he still feels guilt for what he did and wishes to trade places with Adam. He writes that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. The Bible On Gender Roles In The Bible The Bible on Gender Roles The Holy Bible is full of advice on every issue known to humanity. This advice varies in topics from society s functions to foreign policy and even gender roles. Today s western culture is very confused when it comes to gender roles, swinging over the last over 50 years from a male dominated society to a large portion of the feminist society fighting for female dominance and the disappearance of chivalry. Society is always searching for answers from science and philosophy but constantly fails to look in the right places. The Bible is the foundation of truth and it requires the ultimate amount of attention if any community plans to be successful for any length of time. The education of modern society on what the Bible says about gender roles is necessary to achieve mutual understanding of beliefs. The Bible is full of statements and teachings on the topic of gender. Unfortunately, these are often ignored in the home. For example, the different roles of mothers and fathers. The Bible claims that mothers are called to be involved in the teaching, nurturing, and mentorship of their children. According to Proverbs 13:24, fathers are also called to discipline their children, to teach them, and to mentor them. Parents roles are very similar according to the Bible with the caveat that fathers are called to be the disciplinarians and leaders of the household. For the past 2 decades, Endangered animals are being killed for simple body parts tusks, bones, or pelts illegally for money. Many poaching laws have been established in Zimbabwe but none of these laws have been effective. Poaching has been illegal for hundreds of years, but it was during the Late Middle Ages that poaching became a punishable offense. During this time, the right to hunt was limited to landowners and nobility. Peasants usually did not have weapons, skills or the extra time to hunt, so in order to provide food for their families they devised another way to bring meat to their tables ( How Poaching works ). Since the middle ages people have always been buying and selling animals but as life got tougher for the poor they had to resort to killing and selling body parts of animals to gain money. In the mid 1800 s hunting was only for the wealthy and privileged but as poverty increased poaching levels did too. While hunting was reserved for the privileged, it was illegal to buy and sell wild animals. It remained illegal to do so until the mid 1800s. Gangs of poachers formed outlaw ... He had focus on the Regionalist movement art along with Grant and John Curry. Thomas Benton has had a great impact on the color, the resonant ideas and exuberance. Benton identified different diverse ideas of contradiction: the rituals and the urban, freedom, oppression, the poor, rich labor and entertainment (Marling, 1982). As Mural developed the ideas, he span two epochs on the excess of Jazz Age and bitter side of depression in the country. This was expressed in the art work that he presented in the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The painting was done 1930 to 1931 which was paced on the New School board room from social research in the city of New York. This painting attracted attention and was bought by Equitable Life then later to Metropolitan Museum as an exhibit. Benton developed 10 panels of which a lot of them were 7.5 feet in height and 9 feet in width. The painting was in egg tempera having an oil glaze, strong attractive colors, wide modulation and a very much gleaming surfaces (Benton, 1983). The painting had an aluminum frame, with complexity in mounding and curves in the right angles that showed the vignettes in the panel and addition of emphatic strength (Dennis,1998). It bases on a truth story that some smart investors bet against the United State mortgage market in 2006 to 2008. Michael Burry, an eccentric hedge fund manager, discovered with his own research that the United State housing market was a bubble about to burst within in a couple years. He started to bet against the United State mortgage backed securities market by convincing some large banks to create a credit default swap market, which was kind of a bond insurance police, and he invested about $1,3 billion in the credit default swap market. If he was right about the market collapse, his fund would bust up very high and make a hug profit. On the other hand, his fund would be gone if the market stay stable. Through Michael Burry s idea and action, the banker Jared Vennett who worked at Deutschebank quickly learned and understood that Burry s predictions was likely true, and he made himself an opportunity of earning fees on selling those credit default swap to the firms, which the firms could earn profit when the underlying mortgage bonds fail. He came to Mark Baum office and tried to convince him to buy credit default swaps. His explanation about the market collapse would being more perpetuated by the packaging of subprime loans into collateralized debt obligations (CDOs). Where some were very harsh to them, some like Mr. Lockwood (the initial master of the Wuthering Heights) was strict but still kinder. The tussle between Mr. Heathcliff (poor)and Mr. Lockwood s eldest son(rich) serves as a metaphor. It also brings to notice the ever ongoing tussle between the will of heart and the will of the society, specially in the case of women who are forced by the society and by the already laid norms to defy what they actually want and be satisfied with what their family or the society want. The Truth About Pancreatic Cancer Essay 1.1 Pancreatic cancer Pancreatic cancer is a highly lethal disease that is ranked fourth among cancer related deaths in Norway. 31 Yearly 600 650 new cases are detected, corresponding to 7 per 100 000 inhabitant. The survival rate five years after diagnosis is very low, at only 5 %. 19 Approximately 90 % of patients diagnosed with advanced pancreatic cancer survive less than one year, with a median survival of 5 6 months. The high mortality rate is connected to late diagnosis, early metastasis and poor response to chemo and radiotherapy. 34 Pancreatic cancer can be inherited, but 90 % of cases are considered sporadic. 19 The major histological type of pancreatic cancer is ductal pancreatic adenocarcinoma which account for 80 % of the ... Performance enhancers are produced or bought on the black market and administered in a clandestine, uncontrolled way with no monitoring of the athlete s health. • 21. Mayan Ball Game Essay Montaigne had very in depth opinions about the new world and how he felt simple and civilized societies operated. Even though in his excerpt he defends cannibalism which would usually discredit the writer, he still makes some very valid points. It is in fact barbaric to kill a living person, and to make a mockery out of them by hanging is inhumane. Montaigne even goes as far as to call war the human disease and believed it was more constant between the Europeans than it was the natives. One thing that can be agreed upon is the savagery of a group of people that would sacrifice a living person. In the Mayan ball game, anybody who lost the game which happened to be kings or high officials most of the time, were killed and sacrificed to the Gods. The Mayan ball game was an opportunity for the Mayans to show their loyalty to the gods by sacrificing captured kings, high lords, or losing opponents. It was an alternative to war for cities nearby, for settling issues they had with each other. There were always many spectators to watch this game. To have many people watch the game and watch the losers get sacrificed to the gods, regardless of their beliefs is inhumane. • 23. The American Dream In The Great Gatsby By F. Scott Fitzgerald The American Dream has enticed generations of people of varying socioeconomic statuses to seek new lives in a budding nation. While there are innumerable definitions of this dream, the conventional perspective centers around how accumulating material wealth engenders happiness, the falsity of which is explored in F. Scott Fitzgerald s 1925 novel, The Great Gatsby. Though Fitzgerald critiques this viewpoint, he fails to present an alternative. Much like Fitzgerald, I believe that a capitalist view of the American Dream produces misery, whereas cultivating a conscience and engaging one s passions elicits the opposite, something that all Americans should endeavor to find. Central to every interpretation of the American Dream is joy, predominantly believed to stem from accumulating wealth and possessions, however, the capitalistic nature of our society precludes the majority of people from achieving this. Immigrants have journeyed here for hundreds of years with the hope of finding such riches only to find that the disenfranchised remain as such upon arrival. Thus, American Dream was built on the false pretenses that wealth is distributed relatively equally instead of the reality that 99% of the nation s wealth belongs to .1% of the population. This makes garnering vast wealth as Jay Gatsby did nearly impossible, hindering the jubilation of everyone that made theirs contingent on such an occurrence. Pros And Cons Of Microfossil There s a new digital map limning the composition of the seafloor, and it s shown evidence of microfossil graveyards off the coast of Australia, in addition to other complex deep ocean geology. The interactive map is actually available via the online journal Geology, published August 9th. This marks a first at creating an extensive, comprehensive map in the past 40 years. There hasn t been a single attempt at such a map since the 1970s, which the University of Sydney has announced was drawn by hand. The old map suggests much of the Southern Ocean around Australia is mainly covered by clay blown off the continent, whereas our map shows this area is actually a complex patchwork of microfossil remains, said study author Adriana Dutkiewicz, a sedimentologist at the University of Sydney in a statement. Life in the Southern Ocean is much richer than previously thought. The microfossils discovered are actually from a type of phytoplankton that takes in carbon dioxide and excretes oxygen. Known as diatoms, these phyloplankton take roughly 20% of breathable oxygen in the air, air we need to breathe. The purpose of this essay is to examine the long lasting effects of the British Empire on the Indian nation. India, like all colonies, was affected in many ways by the age of imperialism, and those effects are still evident today. The essay will look at both sides of the argument, allowing for positive and negative effects before finally concluding with a summary and re iteration of the points and arguments made throughout the essay. The essay will avoid taking sides, but rather the aim is to merely give an account of the positive and negative effects of British imperialism in India. Billy Weaver, a seventeen year old guy, was looking for a place to stay, and he walks by the landlady s house. He was going to keep walking when a sign suddenly caught his eye and next thing he knew, he was ringing the doorbell. By using sentence variety with lots of description, Roald Dahl creates the lesson that it is essential to be aware and conscientious of one s immediate surroundings. Throughout the story, Billy is not aware and conscientious of his immediate surroundings. When Billy is walking down the street and sees the landlady s sign, he seems to be drawn into the house. BED AND BREAKFAST, it said. BED AND BREAKFAST, BED AND BREAKFAST. Each word was like a large black eye staring at him through the glass. These words are holding him compelling him forcing him to stay where he was and not to walk away from that house (2). This does not even make Billy have the slightest doubt about anything. Dahl uses the sensory detail of sight to draw in the reader to the sign as it did to Billy when Billy keeps repeating what the sign said over and over again. Dahl not only uses sensory detail as a craft to develop his ideas, but he also uses sentence variety with lots of description through his story. Dahl describing how Billy is being drawn to go to the house shows his craft for developing his ideas. Billy found himself automatically starting forward into the house. The compulsion or, more accurately, the desire to follow after her into that house was extraordinarily strong (2). • 43. Maryville Slogan Analysis From an outsider s point of view Maryville College may be just a college, but for those who have visited, or even attend, know it is much more. Aside from academics and our covenant, nature is a large part of being a Scot. Nature and Maryville College go hand in hand and everyone on campus knows it. Some schools keep the effect of nature quite subtle, but that simply is not the case, here, at Maryville College. Whether it is the walks between classes and buildings, weekly mountain challenge activities, or the first year orientation you are in it. What is subtle, to at least most freshman, is that Maryville College has a trademark slogan Fit. Green. Happy.™ Fit. Green. Happy.™ is apart of mountain challenge and primarily focuses on exercise and being outdoors. As a school, Maryville College tries to incorporate this idea into, not only student life but life after graduation. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Bruce Guillaume, head of mountain challenge and FGH, being fit increases the longevity and quality of life. He said life was what you made of it use it or lose it. TLC is used this experiment is discontinuous method to analyze phospholipase reaction. Spectrophotometry can be used to monitor enzymatic reaction activity continuously without interrupting.
