The Transformation Of Class And Occupational Structure Of...
At this time, the descendant of Mathew Maule, Holgrave, lives with Hepzibah in the decrepit mansion.
However, unlike Hepzibah, Maule is healthy and thriving during the industrialization. With the social
change of the nineteenth century, Maule is given the opportunity to become more than the past would
have ever allowed his ancestors, [who were] generally poverty stricken; always plebeian and obscure;
working with unsuccessful diligence at handicrafts (Hawthorne 15). In Colonel Pyncheon s time, the
Maule family was in the poor plebian class and easily erasable by the Colonel. Now Maule not only
lives in the Pyncheon mansion but is prospering better than Hepzibah. Holgrave s occupation is also
different from his ancestor s carpentry work. He is a daguerreotypist; the first profession to
successfully create photographs. Melanie Archer, author of Class Formation in Nineteenth century
America: The Case of the Middle Class, states that in the nineteenth century...The development of the
middle class is rooted in the transformation of class and occupational structure (3). Holgrave s
profession coincides with his and the emerging middle class s progressive personalities and drive.
Hawthorne utilizes the Maule family to contrast the aristocratic notions, to demonstrate the ever
evolving America within the Maule family and to illustrate that, the middle class comprised not only a
significant segment of the nineteenth century urban population, but that it was influential in

Leiningen Versus The Ants Essay
Leiningen Versus The Ants
Would you risk your own life and the lives of another 400 people just so you might have a chance at
saving a coffee plantation? Well that s what Leiningen did in the short story Leiningen Versus the Ants
. And by doing so he has proved himself to be an over confident, persuasive, and sexist man. And is
not a person to be admired.
In this story Leiningen has shown himself as an extremely over confident person. From the time he
was aware of the impending danger of the ants, to when he was almost willing to give it all up he still
believed that he could conquer them. This is show on the very first page of the story where Leiningen

This is shown when he says, Well, lads, we ve lost the first round. But we ll smash the beggars yet,
don t you worry. Anyone who thinks otherwise can draw his pay here and now and push off. There are
rafts enough and to spare on the river and plenty of time to still reach em. The choice was all theirs,
but they were bought into the fact of security and higher wages if they stayed with Leiningen, and that
was good enough for the peons.
And the last major characteristic that was apparent was that Leiningen was a sexist man. In the
beginning of the story he stated, Act of God, my eye! Anyway, I m not an old woman; I m not going to
run for it just because an elemental s on the way. And he later said, Critical situations first become
crises, when oxen or women get excited. These two statements show that Leiningen thinks of himself
to be more important that any woman or beast. He believes that he is helping the situation by sending
the oxen and women away, but by today s standards he is being sexist by degrading women with his
remarks, and excluding them from the fight where they could have been very useful.
Through these three characteristics, Leiningen has been proven to be an over all normal person
according to today s society. He believes himself to be powerful, and in control that most people like
to believe they are. He is

The Evolution Of Abortion Laws And Regulations

The Evolution of Abortion Laws and Regulations
The examination of the development of social structures from the early twentieth century to the
present date reveals a significant change in the laws and regulations associated with the pro choice and
pro life debate. In the social hierarchy of humanity, the tasks, such as who is the main bread winner
versus who is the primary household caregiver, undertaken as belonging to the male or female have
remained constant, and therefore made the pro life argument one that has been quite difficult to
overcome. However, the established definition of the terms male and female regarding obligations,
duties, and expectations have been altered in recent years, which has allowed for new insights and
new attitudes towards what were once considered inviolate, unchanging norms in consideration to
how society used to view abortion laws and regulations. Half of the battle when it comes to abortion
laws and regulations comes from women s rights, and society s ideal view of them. This is why the
changes that took place in the beginning of the 20th century were so crucial. Early advocates of
women s rights, such as Mary Wollstonecraft, emphasized the education of women to make them
better wives and mothers (Wood 369). The political struggle to enfranchise women began in the
United States with the Seneca Falls Convention, which was the first women s rights convention in
1848. This

Seven Samurai And Magnificent Seven Film Analysis
Topic: Comparative analysis between Seven Samurai and Magnificent Seven
Introduction:
Seven Samurai a 1954 classic, critically acclaimed as one of the greatest films and has been a notable
reference point for reworked films of this genre. In succession with one of the more notable remakes,
the 1960 version of the Magnificent Seven, leading through to the current version in 2016. The
Magnificent Seven aired in cinema recently and was not the first time an adaptation of Seven Samurai
has been re booted. In theory, an entire text book could be written on the many adaptations and their
differences. These alterations focus on some key themes being setting, the threat, the client, the

But film sets the most helpless as the peasants, trying to make a living in the war torn world. The first
scene develops the plot by one of the peasants from the village overhearing a group of bandits
planning to raid their village for food after the barley harvest. The setting backs up the financial state
of the villagers and acts as a structural convention for the other adaptations, due to the villagers stating
they have nothing to the elder of the village that they don t have anything to pay samurai s with and he
responds with find hungry samurai , composing the key aspects that the setting is based in low income
areas. Current adaptations of the Seven Samurai, include the Magnificent Seven changed the details of
the setting but remained otherwise faithful to the original material. The Magnificent Seven was not
given a specific time period but is insinuated that it occurs during the end of the Old West in America.
Alternations in the setting are shown by the Magnificent Seven taking place in a small Mexican
village, where bandits enter the town casually taking the food and goods at their will. Ultimately this
downgrade causes a debauch in living standards for the villagers, causing them to speak up, resulting
in a farmer being shot after trying to protest and the bandit leader promised to strike again. As a result,
this then causes an elder of the village to call upon its citizens so they can

Chamberlin Case
Chamberlain Case (1984). On 29 October 1982, in the Northern Territory Supreme Court, Lindy
Chamberlain was convicted of murdering her nine week old daughter, Azaria, by cutting her throat in
the front seat of the family car at a camping area beside Uluru (Ayers Rock) in central Australia. Her
husband, Michael, was convicted as an accessory. Appeals to the Federal Court and the High Court
were unsuccessful. The convictions were quashed in 1988 after a judicial inquiry.
Few cases have generated as much public controversy. The role of the High Court in this drama was,
however, a minor one. Controversy did not stem from the novelty and significance of the doctrinal
issues raised by the case but from the facts : the question of what had ... Show more content on

With no body, no evidence of motive and no eyewitness evidence that even vaguely incriminated the
Chamberlains, the Crown case was wholly circumstantial, and supported in the main by the claims of
expert witnesses to the effect that the state of Azaria s clothing was inconsistent with a dingo attack,
that there was a bloody handprint on the jumpsuit; and that substantial quantities of blood, including
the blood of an infant, had been found throughout the Chamberlain car.
There were many problems with the methods and findings of these witnesses, only some of which,
however, could be effectively communicated to a jury in a criminal trial. The Crown invited the jury to
infer that in a space of five to ten minutes, during which Lindy returned to the tent with the baby and
six year old Aidan, she had cut Azaria s throat and stuffed the body into Michael s camera case while
her son apparently stood by. She had then raced Aidan back to the barbecue area, where normal life
was resumed, and displayed no signs of unease or distress until the opportunity presented itself of
blaming a dingo for the baby s disappearance. The Chamberlains were said to have later buried the
body, then exhumed it so that the clothing could be placed in a strategic location to lend further
credibility to the dingo tale.
In February 1984, the High Court refused Lindy Chamberlain s appeal by majority (Murphy and
Deane dissenting). Earlier, Brennan (sitting alone) had refused her

Security Is A Fundamental Part Of A Structured Business
Security is a basic need for people to feel safe about themselves and their belongings. Security is an
essential part of everyone s life and the more secure something it the more stress free you can be. For
data companies, security is a fundamental part of a structured business; this leads them to develop data
security, more specifically, security in data warehousing. Data security is the protection of data from
destructive forces and from the unauthorized use or undesirable actions, in systems such as databases.
Data warehouses are central repositories of integrated data from one or more disparate sources. They

Data mart is a simple form of a data warehouse that is focused on a single subject, such as sales,
finance or marketing. Data marts are often built and controlled by a single department within an
organization. Given their single subject focus, data marts usually draw data from only a few sources.
The sources could be internal operational systems, a central data warehouse, or external data. De
normalization is the norm for data modeling techniques in this system. Online Analytical Processing
or OLAP is characterized by a relatively low volume of transactions. Queries are often very complex
and involve aggregations. OLAP system response time is an effectiveness measure that is used by
Data Mining techniques. OLAP databases store aggregated, historical data in multi dimensional
schemas. OLAP systems typically have data latency of a few hours, as opposed to data marts, where
latency is expected to be closer to one day. Online Transaction Processing or OLTP is characterized by

Natural Selection In Frankenstein
Why are there an abundant amount of similar species? Why can t human made be superior to nature?
Why, oh why, is there predators and death? A few questions to jolt your brain for a complex question:
What truly rules the world, adaptations and improvements endowed by natural selection or the
characteristics filtered by human creation? Natural selection involves instincts, morphology and an
organism s preferred niche. No one controls the process. No one can disrupt the flow with any natural
methods. When something happens (i.e climate change, diseases, etc.) that limits the survival and
reproductivity rate of a species, nature makes sure that if the species survive that it adapts and passes
that adaptation onto its offspring. Change concerning ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

disadvantages. Major faults include its tall stature, stitched together body parts and its dead skin and
appearance. These are disadvantages to the monster as they drive away his closest species kin of
genetics and morphology as all the villagers attack and chase him out their homes. The fear of these
maladaptations mimics how nature dislikes unnatural discrepancies that should be pushed

Much Ado About Nothing Love
Throughout much of Shakespearean Literature there is almost always the recurring theme of love,
however this love is not always in its purest form. Instead, characters often find themselves in love at
first sight; then quickly falling out of love or finding out they never truly loved the other person. In
Shakespeare s, Much Ado About Nothing, we see Shakespeare play heavily on the idea of love at first
sight so significantly that it influences the play in its entirety. Focusing on the characters of Claudio
and Hero in the play, we see the impulse of love come to fruition almost instantaneously. In the
beginning of play, Claudio gazes on Hero only to be struck with cupid s arrow meaning his love for
her is based purely upon superficial looks. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From Hero s point of view she is quite fickle. Before even learning that Claudio is in love with her she
dances with Don Pedro who unbeknownst to her is trying to woo her in hopes she will be with
Claudio. However, To Hero she believes that Don pedro is really trying to woo her for himself. Even
though Hero had been explicitly told by her father that if the prince asks to be with you then you say
yes, it is most likely that she would have been with him regardless due to his position of power. This
speaks volumes about the type of person she is due to it not being based on love, but rather position.
After finding out that it is really Claudio who wants her she then shifts her attention to him. The most
unusual part is when they are presented to each other she says nothing and only kisses him, this pushes
forth the idea that she is not truly marrying for love but for a continuation of social status. Given the
present context one could discern that perhaps Hero is more in love with the idea of being in love.
Now shifting focus onto Claudio, he like hero is also volatile in the way he loves. His notion of love is
more of a type of property and on receiving Hero replies ...Lady, as you are mine, I am yours. I give
myself for you and dote upon the exchange. (Much Ado About Nothing, 2.1. 293 295) Through this
quote from the play it is without difficulty for one to distinguish that Claudio is doting on the idea of
being in love with Hero. He has been so focused on her aesthetic the whole time, he does not know
anything about besides that she is visually pleasing to

How Did Francis Joseph Impact The World
Francis Joseph was the oldest sibling of Archduke Francis Charles, who was heir and brother of the
Austrian Emperor I. Because his father was king of the throne, Francis Joseph had become the
emperor when his dad was abdicated near the end of the revolution in 1848. By the time Francis
stepped upon the throne Austria s position as a European power was already in great decline. Later,
Austria betrayed Russia in the Crimean War through 1853 1856 making a heavy impact in the
Austrian and Russian relationship. A couple of years later there was a unification of Italy which
brought great threats to the Italian Empire. In the decade that had followed Austria nearly lost all of
their Italian possessions, such as Lombardy and Venetia. The rise of the Prussian dominance of the
German Confederation, and Austria s loss of the Austro Prussian war in 1866. German unification in

The Man He Killed By Thomas Hardy Tone
In the poem The Man He Killed, it takes place during the war. The narrator discusses meeting
someone in a bar in the first stanza. In the second stanza, he tells how he killed the man. In the third
stanza, he explains why he killed him. In the next stanza, he describes why he thinks the man enlisted
in the war, similar to his own reason. Finally, the poem ends with him saying that you kill fellows in
the war, people you could be friends with. He explains the war as quaint and curious, he is using irony.

Features Of Syntax
Syntax is the study of the rules governing such way in which words are combined to form of sentences
in a language. It is the study of the inter relationship between elements of sentence structure, and of
the rules governing the arrangement of sentences in sequences. It is concerned with the way sentences
are used by the author. If we concentrate on the structure and ordering of components within a
sentence, we are studying what is technically know as the syntax of a language. It is the sequence or
the ordering arrangement of elements which helps the writer to convey his intended meaning. The

At times the noun phrase is reduced to a simple monosyllable and sometimes there is a lot of
complexity both horizontal and vertical. The use of much premodification indicates that the

Attributive adjectives, noun modifiers, compound word modifiers and relative clauses are used for

Issues of Digital Rights Management (DRM) in India
On purchasing an audio book of George Orwell s classic, 1984 from iTunes, the author was faced with
a peculiar problem the audio book had a weird mb4 format, playable only on Apple products and the
conversion to mp3 was impossible because the file was well, encrypted. So, when section 65A of the
Indian Copyright (Amendment) Act, 2012 was notified , a legal analysis seemed to be pertinent for
this provision, introducing Digital Rights Management (DRM) in India, would indeed have a palpable
effect on almost all Indian consumers of digital media. Section 65A of the Indian Copyright
(Amendment) Act, 2012 provides legal protection to technological protection measures (or TPM e.g.
digital locks, encryption), such that the circumvention of such TPM is prohibited, while tools or
devices aiding circumvention may be permitted for the purpose of fair use. Such use of TPM for the
purpose of access control is classified as DRM and can take many forms limiting number of
installations and plays , limiting content to certain file types , limiting content to be played on
particular software etc. We first analyze this provision in comparison with similar US and EU
provisions and try to understand whether it is a favourable addition to Indian IP law, especially in the
context of its political economic background. We then try and analyze the problems with the
provision, especially through the lens of an economic analysis as well as from a consumer point of
view. Since, DRM is

Malcolm X Chapter Summary
In Malcolm X, Jason Hunter writes about the life, religion, death, and legacy of Malcolm X
throughout his life time, 1925 to 1965. Hunter utilizes a combination of primary and secondary
sources to explain the impact Malcolm X had on his time period, as well as the legacy left behind for
the later generations. Though mainly using The Autobiography of Malcolm X, the author is able to
highlight the details of X s lifetime and legacy. To do this, the author makes use of chronological
order, separating each chapter as if it is a section of X s life. Each of the five main chapters are broken
down into smaller subchapter for the smaller important details. Hunter starts off describing the early
life and troubles X encounters, and end the book off ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

confusing as a result of the lack of citations and multiple writers. Since each chapter had a different
writer, reading became inconsistent. It is notable that the author attempts to avoid disorganization by
creating subheading and a well structured table of contents. Hunter also does a remarkable job of
adding an index, timeline, appendix of documents, and additional research page in order to allow
readers to dive deeper into the topic. Through all this work and attempted organization, Hunter is able

increases causing inflammation within the kidneys. Apoptosis is downregulated, so the rapid
proliferation of cystic cells have no way to be killed by apoptosis, therefore cysts are easily developed.
The need for intervention in this disease is obvious, without it patient s quality of life is greatly
depleted. Finding a cure to completely prevent ADPKD at the moment is out of the question due to the
complexity of the disease, and due to the amount of information we know being limited. But I think
there is an opportunity in the cyst ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So, the overabundance of expression of SIRT1 can really cause some damage like it does in ADPKD.

Promising Agent: Our promising agent is a rational drug because we know the target and are
designing a drug to target that specific protein. The protein we are targeting is the Sirtuin 1 protein.
This drug works on a molecular level by decreasing the amount of protein SIRT1 found in kidney
epithelial cells. SIRT1 has been found to prevent cystic epithelial apoptosis, meaning it prevents cells
from dying that cause the formation of cysts in the kidneys. By inhibiting SIRT1, apoptosis will be
activated and increased, and cystic cells will die, which will slow the growth of existing cysts, and
prevent the growth of new cysts in the kidneys, and possibly the liver, and other organs this disease
can sometimes affect. The solution of the drug works by inhibiting SIRT1. In ADPKD, the levels of
SIRT1 are dramatically increased in kidney epithelial cells. By inhibiting SIRT1, we will essentially
be delaying the growth of cysts, and stopping the formation of new cysts from developing in the
kidneys which is what makes ADPKD such a deliberating disease. SIRT1 is a very smart protein,

The Federalist And Republican Parties
American history is so full of wonderful, enticing things. A few of those enticing things include the
First Continental Congress and the Second Continental Congress and how they came to be through the
events leading up to them. Another captivating piece of our history is that of the formation of the
Constitution along with the interesting factors and characteristics that go along with it. Finally, we
have the emergence of the Federalist and Republican Parties. It is important to have an understanding
of these important historical events and people so that we can fully appreciate the nation that we now
refer to today as the land of opportunities and of great achievement. There were many issues that had

The merchants were also fairly outraged because they saw this as a monopoly for the selling of tea in
the colonies. So, colonists were infuriated and refused to allow the East India Company tea to be
shipped into the colonies. They saw this as their most effective form of resistance to the taxation. In
fact, the Sons of Liberty began to threaten the shippers who had to bring the tea into the colonies.
There was a particular event in Boston that captured the Parliament s attention. On December 16,
1773 an organized band of men who had disguised themselves as Indians, rushed onto the Dartmouth
ship along with two other ships and began to empty 342 chests of tea into the Boston harbor. This
allowed for the loss of nine thousand pounds (approximately eighteen thousand U.S. dollars) of profit
for the British East India Company and is known as the Boston Tea Party. Similar events occurred in
Annapolis, Maryland in 1774 where the residents forced merchants to burn their own ships. While this
was event was awful, it was the Boston Tea Party that inspired the Parliament s angry reaction. The
reaction drawn from the Parliament was the Intolerable Acts which can be known as an American term
for both the Quebec and Coercive Acts. The Coercive Act was created in the spring of 1774. This act
included the Boston Port Act, the Massachusetts Government Act, the Administration of Justice Act,
and the Quartering Act. The Boston Port Act was first effective on June 1, 1774. This act closed

Remember The Titans Coach Yoast:
In the movie Remember the Titans by Jerry Bruckheimer and Chad Oman, there are two main coaches
that are involved with a mixed race football team from T. C. Williams High School. In the start of the
movie Coach Yoast was a happy man coaching a good team. Then came along a black coach called
Coach boon and took his job. There were some arguments throughout the movie and then Coach Yoast
had to accept he was going to have to work with this man.
In the movie Remember the Titans by Jerry Bruckheimer and Chad Oman, there are two main coaches
that are involved with a mixed race football team from T. C. Williams High School. In the start of my
essay I will be talking about when these two coaches meet. Then I will talk about how one coach loses
his job and the other takes over. In the 3rd paragraph I will talk about how those two work together.
Then in my final paragraph I will talk about the championship game.
When these two first met, Coach Yoast didn t know that he was going to lose his job to coach Boone.
The school board may have put you on my team, but I did not hire you this is what coach Yoast first
says to Boone. This shows that even though Coach Boone will be working alongside him, Yoast didn t

Inspiration
If there is someone that has impacted an individual s life, then suddenly they pass away out of the
blue, it can do an immense amount of damage to ones thoughts and feelings. In the song One Man Can
Change The World by Big Sean featuring John Legend and Kanye West it talks about Big Sean s
grandma impact on his life and everything she did for him and his family as a whole. The artist big
Sean otherwise known as Sean Anderson was born in Santa Monica, California but was raised in
Detroit, Michigan. He was born on the west side of Detroit which can be very hard growing up on a
child. There was a lot of gang violence and the city was so in debt that they couldn t fund anything ...

The speaker in this song is anyone that experienced a tough loss. Big Sean was very close with his
grandmother, she taught him how to drive and be a man. ... She taught me how to drive and she raised
the kids, then the kids kids, and she did it right taught me how to love, taught me not to cry (Sean 52
54). In this line he states that she taught him how to be a man and took care of him growing up,
keeping him on the right track and staying out of trouble. Big Sean also used a lot of imagery in his
song. Talking about his grandmas achievements he states ...But how am I supposed to say I m tired if
that girl from West Virginia came up in conditions that I couldn t survive; went to war, came back
alive? On top of that became a female black captain when being black you had to extra extra try (Sean
45 49). Big Sean was very proud of his grandma because she became a female black captain back
when females were just being allowed in the military and there was still a very serious racism
problem. In his lyrics you can see the struggle to get what she accomplished in the times that she did
it. As the reader may now see how close Sean and his grandmother were together realize how tough of
a loss it was and how people can

Subjective Well-Being Essay
According to Freud s conclusion based on decades of experimentation and theoretical work in the field
of psychotherapy, humans cannot be happy because a satisfaction of needs creates only a momentary
phase of happiness which expires after some time. Therefore, the focus of life should not be obtaining
happiness, and people should focus on avoiding suffering instead (Bullock, n.d.). However, several
paradigms about well being exist, and individual cognitive patterns and paradigms define the
emotional responses to social influences. From an objective viewpoint, well being is a state of
consciousness that arises from a combination of internal and external factors, and money is an
unstable external influence in defining ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Perhaps from a mental health perspective, people who pursue money because of unrealistic goals can
suffer from more stress and impair their mental health more significantly than people who pursue
money for realistic goals. Furthermore, several cross sectional studies support the economic paradigm
that money is positively correlated with happiness (Gardner Oswald, 2007). Although cross sectional
studies have many weaknesses, Gardener and Oswald (2007) agree with those conclusions because
their longitudinal study found that a windfall of money has the same positive effect on happiness and
lower mental stress. In other words, if people achieve financial success, their motivation will be
fulfilled. Although happiness achieved by high income levels is unstable and completely dependent on
the income level, it is not possible to define financial security as more stable than happiness if people
lose their income. Unrealistic money making motivations appear to be unstable, but realistic
motivations are not more stable than unrealistic ones. Because income is connected with both types of
motivations, all money making goals are achieved by creating income, and all goals are lost by losing
income. It is apparently not possible to generalize conclusions based on negative correlations. If
research proves that certain motives are in a negative correlation with subjective well being, it will

Creativity Is Not An Oxymoron
Introduction
In an ever diversifying global market, creativity has become imperative in empowering innovation
within the market. The demand for creativity has increased, especially in the business market sphere
and a need for managing creativity is evident. However, the coming together of management and
creativity is believed to be incompatible , and mutually destructive by parties from both arts and
management backgrounds (Howkins, 2002, p. 120). If management where a square, creativity would
be a circle, and the two are not complementary shapes, thus many would argue managing creativity to
be oxymoronic. Because of the different characteristics and methods of creativity and management,
this statement seems true surface level. Creativity is an ambiguous term that is subjective and difficult
to measure in a definite form and makes it difficult to manage in one specific way. So how can a
manager maximize the creativity of an individual and how can one manage creativity most effectively
and collectively?
This paper will focus on the idea that managing creativity is not an oxymoron if the right approaches
are implemented. Creativity is necessary for new innovation to happen, but a business s foremost
focus is on growth and profit (Howkins, 2002). Managing creativity is the first step to cultivating new
forms of innovation. For this to happen most successfully acknowledging characteristics consistent to
creative individuals and applying a specific manager or leader who can

Examples Of Perfection In The Great Gatsby
It is said that perfection is unfathomable, and far out of reach of the human hand. But, others say, if
you can dream it; you can achieve it. Society sends contradicting messages of the necesity to be
perfect and have perfection, yet that it is merely impossible.
As a young child, it is pure instinct to imagine life ahead and make it out to be great, more frivolous
than reality grants. The hope of that coming about stays with us as we grow up, and the universe
always selects a lucky few to obtain it.
Jay Gatsby has the life everyone strives for, a life of perfection and the american dream. He has an
infinite flow of money, a mansion all to himself, lavish parties lasting all night, butlers to caiter to his
every need, the best cars of design, and hundreds of friends; but all of this is simply an inspection of

The Organizational Forms Of New Zealand Agricultural Sector
New Zealand has a long farming history and agriculture has been one of the country s largest
economic sectors, with 95 percent of the dairy products being exported contributing to about 30
percent of the world s trade (MAF, 2003). The land reforms which happened between late 19th and
early 20th century emerged a large number of small and medium sized farms for the purpose of
promoting the wealth of the settler society (Hamer, 1988). As a result of the introduction of
refrigeration which boomed farm productivity (Greasley Oxley, 2008), these small family famers have
come together to create rural cooperatives in order to provide better commodity chains for their export
products, and eventually to protect their own interests (Hunter, 2005). Following the deregulation of
New Zealand s agricultural sector which started from 1984, both organizing, family farming and
cooperatives have gone through major transformations. This essay aims to analyze both organizational
forms in New Zealand agricultural sector, in terms of how both are shaped by economic, political and
ideological in the society, thus providing a better understanding of the similarities, differences and the
tensions created between both economic units.
Family farming and cooperative organizations are different in the way their profits are distributed.
Academic theorists such as Grasson and Errington have differentiated family farms from cooperative
farms on the basis of economic value returns such as the business

Fear-Avoidance Beliefs
Predictors of fear avoidance beliefs in patients with acute low back pain: Investigting the effects of
pain characteristics and functional disability
Low back pain (LBP) is one of the leading causes of disability and work absence globally, affecting
not just the individual, but also extending to families, communities and society at large. Whilst the
prevalence of LBP is high, with over 70 percent of people experiencing some LBP at some point
during their lives, most will resolve within a few months (Campbell et al, 2013). Problems arise when
pain persists beyond the expected period of healing or when it exceeds 12 weeks in duration. An
estimated 40 percent of people who present with acute LBP continue to report symptoms after 3
months and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Previous research has identified pain characteristics and beliefs as well as fear avoidance beliefs as
potential predictors of the development of chronic pain. Waddel et al (1993) found that fear avoidance
beliefs accounted for 23 percent of the variance in disability in ADL s and 26% of variance in work
loss, after controlling for pain. Fear avoidance beliefs in relation to physical activity have been shown
to be predictive of increased disability in older adults with chronic LBP (Camacho Soto et al, 2012).
In a large scale 5 year longitudinal UK study of 488 patients to determine prognostic factors that
predict pain and disability, two key predictive factors identified were pain intensity and the belief that
pain would persist (Campbell et al, 2013).
Given the contribution of fear avoidance beliefs to the development of chronic pain and disability, in
this study we sought to explore predictors of fear avoidance beliefs. Despite the brevity of the FABQ
PA, in local clinical practice, the administration of the FABQ is often difficult due to language barriers
and difficulty with the rating scale. Therefore the purpose of the this study was to investigate possible
predictors of fear avoidance beliefs from information commonly derived from a physiotherapy initial

Evaluation Of A Interview Or Interrogation
Interviews and interrogations are similar in that the officer must establish a relationship with
individuals and ask good questions in a planned out and controlled surrounding or semi controlled
setting while carefully listening and documenting the statements. Interviews are conducted to gather
information from individuals who may have detailed information that can further the case such as
information obtained from bystanders or the victim themselves. Interrogations, on the other hand, can
be perceived as a more adversarial approach to again or test the information collected to obtain a
confession or eliminate a suspect. According to Swanson et al. (2012), an officer must be persuasive
and knowledgeable in the psychological approach to avoid a defensive personality as they establish a
relationship in both the interrogations and the interview process. Such is often portrayed in
understanding the emotional aspect of empathy, fear, anger, and sympathy so officers can control and
respond appropriately in each given situation (p. 125). Either way, planning a successful interview or
interrogation requires officer s to do their research and to be well versed in the facts of the case. This
may require reviewing the evidence recovered and checking out the background of the victim, suspect,
and witnesses to have a better understanding of their daily lives, perceptions, and suspect s motives
(Swanson et al., 2012, p.126). Planning successful interviews consist of seeking out those

Her Movie Relationships
Her is a movie about the story of a man, Theodore, who falls in love with his artificially intelligent
operating system, Samantha. The movie shows how a relationship began, grew and ended between a
man and an operating system. This type of relationship is rare, furthermore, there is no artificial
intelligence that is in the same stage of intelligence as Samantha. Nonetheless, the relationship
between the two raises questions as to how genuine and true the relationship is. Before beginning to
analyze the relationship between Theodore and Samantha, there are other real stories that could help
better understand the type of relationship Theodore and Samantha had.
Jack and Oskar were two twin brothers who were separated a little after birth due to their parent s

Satire In Young Goodman Brown
Nathaniel Hawthorne s experience with evil was with his uncle. His uncle was part of the Salem witch
trial, where women were believed to be witches and worshippers of the devil. The trial involves
women burning at stake for the remove sin. Instead of cleansing their sins, they are making it a lot
worse by bloodshed. They noticed what was wrong and decided to stop the trials, but Nathaniel s
uncle did not repent. He believed that what he did was right and should let all women perish. This
background exhibits what nonsense his uncle caused and how he felt during that time. Nathaniel
Hawthorne is trying to prove how ridiculous Puritan ethics of all humans are born sinful through satire
in Young Goodman Brown.
Young Goodman Brown was a Puritan. They believed that one should live life, like how Jesus lived.
Young Goodman Brown showed both innocence and corruptibility. This gives him the name Young
Goodman Brown , which stands between the spectrums of black and white. Goodman is also ironic to

forest, he comes across a man dressed in regular clothing. What was unusual was the walking stick he
carries. It is carved to represent a serpent. In the Bible, the serpent was a symbol of evil and trickery.

  • 3. The Transformation Of Class And Occupational Structure Of... At this time, the descendant of Mathew Maule, Holgrave, lives with Hepzibah in the decrepit mansion. However, unlike Hepzibah, Maule is healthy and thriving during the industrialization. With the social change of the nineteenth century, Maule is given the opportunity to become more than the past would have ever allowed his ancestors, [who were] generally poverty stricken; always plebeian and obscure; working with unsuccessful diligence at handicrafts (Hawthorne 15). In Colonel Pyncheon s time, the Maule family was in the poor plebian class and easily erasable by the Colonel. Now Maule not only lives in the Pyncheon mansion but is prospering better than Hepzibah. Holgrave s occupation is also different from his ancestor s carpentry work. He is a daguerreotypist; the first profession to successfully create photographs. Melanie Archer, author of Class Formation in Nineteenth century America: The Case of the Middle Class, states that in the nineteenth century...The development of the middle class is rooted in the transformation of class and occupational structure (3). Holgrave s profession coincides with his and the emerging middle class s progressive personalities and drive. Hawthorne utilizes the Maule family to contrast the aristocratic notions, to demonstrate the ever evolving America within the Maule family and to illustrate that, the middle class comprised not only a significant segment of the nineteenth century urban population, but that it was influential in ... Well that s what Leiningen did in the short story Leiningen Versus the Ants . And by doing so he has proved himself to be an over confident, persuasive, and sexist man. And is not a person to be admired. In this story Leiningen has shown himself as an extremely over confident person. From the time he was aware of the impending danger of the ants, to when he was almost willing to give it all up he still believed that he could conquer them. The choice was all theirs, but they were bought into the fact of security and higher wages if they stayed with Leiningen, and that was good enough for the peons. And the last major characteristic that was apparent was that Leiningen was a sexist man. In the beginning of the story he stated, Act of God, my eye! Anyway, I m not an old woman; I m not going to run for it just because an elemental s on the way. And he later said, Critical situations first become crises, when oxen or women get excited. These two statements show that Leiningen thinks of himself to be more important that any woman or beast. He believes that he is helping the situation by sending the oxen and women away, but by today s standards he is being sexist by degrading women with his remarks, and excluding them from the fight where they could have been very useful. Through these three characteristics, Leiningen has been proven to be an over all normal person according to today s society. • 6. The Evolution Of Abortion Laws And Regulations Sam Wonson Mrs. Otto English II Pre AP 20 May 2013 The Evolution of Abortion Laws and Regulations The examination of the development of social structures from the early twentieth century to the present date reveals a significant change in the laws and regulations associated with the pro choice and pro life debate. In the social hierarchy of humanity, the tasks, such as who is the main bread winner versus who is the primary household caregiver, undertaken as belonging to the male or female have remained constant, and therefore made the pro life argument one that has been quite difficult to overcome. However, the established definition of the terms male and female regarding obligations, duties, and expectations have been altered in recent years, which has allowed for new insights and new attitudes towards what were once considered inviolate, unchanging norms in consideration to how society used to view abortion laws and regulations. Half of the battle when it comes to abortion laws and regulations comes from women s rights, and society s ideal view of them. This is why the changes that took place in the beginning of the 20th century were so crucial. Early advocates of women s rights, such as Mary Wollstonecraft, emphasized the education of women to make them better wives and mothers (Wood 369). The political struggle to enfranchise women began in the United States with the Seneca Falls Convention, which was the first women s rights convention in 1848. This ... On 29 October 1982, in the Northern Territory Supreme Court, Lindy Chamberlain was convicted of murdering her nine week old daughter, Azaria, by cutting her throat in the front seat of the family car at a camping area beside Uluru (Ayers Rock) in central Australia. Her husband, Michael, was convicted as an accessory. Appeals to the Federal Court and the High Court were unsuccessful. The convictions were quashed in 1988 after a judicial inquiry. Few cases have generated as much public controversy. The role of the High Court in this drama was, however, a minor one. Controversy did not stem from the novelty and significance of the doctrinal issues raised by the case but from the facts : the question of what had ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With no body, no evidence of motive and no eyewitness evidence that even vaguely incriminated the Chamberlains, the Crown case was wholly circumstantial, and supported in the main by the claims of expert witnesses to the effect that the state of Azaria s clothing was inconsistent with a dingo attack, that there was a bloody handprint on the jumpsuit; and that substantial quantities of blood, including the blood of an infant, had been found throughout the Chamberlain car. There were many problems with the methods and findings of these witnesses, only some of which, however, could be effectively communicated to a jury in a criminal trial. The Crown invited the jury to infer that in a space of five to ten minutes, during which Lindy returned to the tent with the baby and six year old Aidan, she had cut Azaria s throat and stuffed the body into Michael s camera case while her son apparently stood by. She had then raced Aidan back to the barbecue area, where normal life was resumed, and displayed no signs of unease or distress until the opportunity presented itself of blaming a dingo for the baby s disappearance. The Chamberlains were said to have later buried the body, then exhumed it so that the clothing could be placed in a strategic location to lend further credibility to the dingo tale. In February 1984, the High Court refused Lindy Chamberlain s appeal by majority (Murphy and Deane dissenting). Earlier, Brennan (sitting alone) had refused her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Security is an essential part of everyone s life and the more secure something it the more stress free you can be. For data companies, security is a fundamental part of a structured business; this leads them to develop data security, more specifically, security in data warehousing. A few questions to jolt your brain for a complex question: What truly rules the world, adaptations and improvements endowed by natural selection or the characteristics filtered by human creation? Natural selection involves instincts, morphology and an organism s preferred niche. No one controls the process. No one can disrupt the flow with any natural methods. • 13. Much Ado About Nothing Love Throughout much of Shakespearean Literature there is almost always the recurring theme of love, however this love is not always in its purest form. Instead, characters often find themselves in love at first sight; then quickly falling out of love or finding out they never truly loved the other person. In Shakespeare s, Much Ado About Nothing, we see Shakespeare play heavily on the idea of love at first sight so significantly that it influences the play in its entirety. Focusing on the characters of Claudio and Hero in the play, we see the impulse of love come to fruition almost instantaneously. In the beginning of play, Claudio gazes on Hero only to be struck with cupid s arrow meaning his love for her is based purely upon superficial looks. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... From Hero s point of view she is quite fickle. Before even learning that Claudio is in love with her she dances with Don Pedro who unbeknownst to her is trying to woo her in hopes she will be with Claudio. However, To Hero she believes that Don pedro is really trying to woo her for himself. Even though Hero had been explicitly told by her father that if the prince asks to be with you then you say yes, it is most likely that she would have been with him regardless due to his position of power. This speaks volumes about the type of person she is due to it not being based on love, but rather position. After finding out that it is really Claudio who wants her she then shifts her attention to him. The most unusual part is when they are presented to each other she says nothing and only kisses him, this pushes forth the idea that she is not truly marrying for love but for a continuation of social status. Given the present context one could discern that perhaps Hero is more in love with the idea of being in love. Now shifting focus onto Claudio, he like hero is also volatile in the way he loves. His notion of love is more of a type of property and on receiving Hero replies ...Lady, as you are mine, I am yours. I give myself for you and dote upon the exchange. (Much Ado About Nothing, 2.1. 293 295) Through this quote from the play it is without difficulty for one to distinguish that Claudio is doting on the idea of being in love with Hero. The resources that the website provided were useful, but the resources that I believe that will help me the most is the glossary, the exams, and career opportunities. Because his father was king of the throne, Francis Joseph had become the emperor when his dad was abdicated near the end of the revolution in 1848. By the time Francis stepped upon the throne Austria s position as a European power was already in great decline. Later, Austria betrayed Russia in the Crimean War through 1853 1856 making a heavy impact in the Austrian and Russian relationship. A couple of years later there was a unification of Italy which brought great threats to the Italian Empire. In the decade that had followed Austria nearly lost all of their Italian possessions, such as Lombardy and Venetia. The rise of the Prussian dominance of the German Confederation, and Austria s loss of the Austro Prussian war in 1866. German unification in 1871 made Austria the lesser of the two German powers. Issues of Digital Rights Management (DRM) in India On purchasing an audio book of George Orwell s classic, 1984 from iTunes, the author was faced with a peculiar problem the audio book had a weird mb4 format, playable only on Apple products and the conversion to mp3 was impossible because the file was well, encrypted. So, when section 65A of the Indian Copyright (Amendment) Act, 2012 was notified , a legal analysis seemed to be pertinent for this provision, introducing Digital Rights Management (DRM) in India, would indeed have a palpable effect on almost all Indian consumers of digital media. Section 65A of the Indian Copyright (Amendment) Act, 2012 provides legal protection to technological protection measures (or TPM e.g. digital locks, encryption), such that the circumvention of such TPM is prohibited, while tools or devices aiding circumvention may be permitted for the purpose of fair use. Such use of TPM for the purpose of access control is classified as DRM and can take many forms limiting number of installations and plays , limiting content to certain file types , limiting content to be played on particular software etc. We first analyze this provision in comparison with similar US and EU provisions and try to understand whether it is a favourable addition to Indian IP law, especially in the context of its political economic background. We then try and analyze the problems with the provision, especially through the lens of an economic analysis as well as from a consumer point of view. Since, DRM is ... The protein we are targeting is the Sirtuin 1 protein. This drug works on a molecular level by decreasing the amount of protein SIRT1 found in kidney epithelial cells. SIRT1 has been found to prevent cystic epithelial apoptosis, meaning it prevents cells from dying that cause the formation of cysts in the kidneys. By inhibiting SIRT1, apoptosis will be activated and increased, and cystic cells will die, which will slow the growth of existing cysts, and prevent the growth of new cysts in the kidneys, and possibly the liver, and other organs this disease can sometimes affect. The solution of the drug works by inhibiting SIRT1. In ADPKD, the levels of SIRT1 are dramatically increased in kidney epithelial cells. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Perhaps from a mental health perspective, people who pursue money because of unrealistic goals can suffer from more stress and impair their mental health more significantly than people who pursue money for realistic goals. Furthermore, several cross sectional studies support the economic paradigm that money is positively correlated with happiness (Gardner Oswald, 2007). Although cross sectional studies have many weaknesses, Gardener and Oswald (2007) agree with those conclusions because their longitudinal study found that a windfall of money has the same positive effect on happiness and lower mental stress. In other words, if people achieve financial success, their motivation will be fulfilled. Although happiness achieved by high income levels is unstable and completely dependent on the income level, it is not possible to define financial security as more stable than happiness if people lose their income. Unrealistic money making motivations appear to be unstable, but realistic motivations are not more stable than unrealistic ones. Because income is connected with both types of motivations, all money making goals are achieved by creating income, and all goals are lost by losing income. It is apparently not possible to generalize conclusions based on negative correlations. If research proves that certain motives are in a negative correlation with subjective well being, it will ... The demand for creativity has increased, especially in the business market sphere and a need for managing creativity is evident. However, the coming together of management and creativity is believed to be incompatible , and mutually destructive by parties from both arts and management backgrounds (Howkins, 2002, p. 120). If management where a square, creativity would be a circle, and the two are not complementary shapes, thus many would argue managing creativity to be oxymoronic. Because of the different characteristics and methods of creativity and management, this statement seems true surface level. Creativity is an ambiguous term that is subjective and difficult to measure in a definite form and makes it difficult to manage in one specific way. So how can a manager maximize the creativity of an individual and how can one manage creativity most effectively and collectively? This paper will focus on the idea that managing creativity is not an oxymoron if the right approaches are implemented. Creativity is necessary for new innovation to happen, but a business s foremost focus is on growth and profit (Howkins, 2002). The land reforms which happened between late 19th and early 20th century emerged a large number of small and medium sized farms for the purpose of promoting the wealth of the settler society (Hamer, 1988). As a result of the introduction of refrigeration which boomed farm productivity (Greasley Oxley, 2008), these small family famers have come together to create rural cooperatives in order to provide better commodity chains for their export products, and eventually to protect their own interests (Hunter, 2005).
