Difference Between Market Economy And Mixed Economy
In order for a country to run, it needs to sustain a stable economy. A country can choose one of the
three economies; Market economy, Planned economy, and Mixed economy. Market economy is
primarily based on supply and demand and is described as a shift right on the economic spectrum. As
well, resources are privately owned by businesses rather than the government. Market economy is
primarily controlled by the consumers who drive the economic decision making with little government
involvement. Words such as Individualism and Capitalism can be used to describe Market Economy.
However, no country can ever be a 100% market economy even though countries such as The United
States of America are extremely far right on the economic spectrum. Planned Economy is primarily
controlled and managed by the government with little intervention from the consumers and is
described as a shift left on the economic spectrum. Also, in a planned economy, the government makes
decisions regarding scarcity and also finds solutions on how to terminate it by varying the production,
distribution, and consumption of products. Collectivism can also be used to describe Planned
Economies. However, similarly to market economies, no country can ever be 100% Planned Economy
even though countries such as North Korea fall extremely far left on the economic spectrum. A
mixture of both these economies would be described as a mixed economy and it would be placed
centrally on the economic spectrum. Resources are

Adoption Pros And Cons
realize there are consequences and birth parents should realize when they choose adoption, no matter
how sound their reasoning, this is a possibility. When did the welfare of the parent become more
significant than the welfare of the child?
We re not trying to make anyone look bad. We re just trying to get some answers. Every adopted child
has questions. We deserve some answers, (qtd. in Franko and Sanz n.p.) These are the words of
Melinda Elkins Dawson, a woman who was adopted as a child who is searching for her family and
answers. The parents do have a right to privacy and confidentiality that is true, but adoptees deserve to
know the truth about where they came from. It has been proven through research that not all adoptees

This legislation affects all age groups, from infants who have just been lovingly accepted into a
family, to a young child who wonders who his real mother and father are and why they did not want
them, to full grown adults in a life consuming search to find their roots, a search that may never end.
Every person deserves the right to their identity and their past. How can we, as fellow humans, deny
another human their most basic and fundamental part of who they are: their name and their roots? Put
yourself in the shoes of these people. Imagine having no clue who you are or where you came from.
Do you have your mother s eyes? Your father s sense of humor? Are you at risk for genetically
transmitted diseases? What is my story? Who am I? Your adoptive family may well still be your
family. No matter what the DNA says otherwise, your adoptive mom may be your real mom to you.
But your story did not start the day you were adopted, it started the day you were born. And no matter
how much you try to suppress it, you need that piece of the

Porter Robinson And Madeon Concert Report
On November 16th, I attended a Porter Robinson and Madeon concert at Echostage in Washington
D.C. Porter Robinson and Madeon are both electro house, dubstep, synthpop, and EDM (Electronic
Dance Music) music DJ s, who have decided to collaborate and tour together. Doors opened for the
concert at 9 PM, with DJ s Robotaki (Ro bo ta key) and Danger opening for them. Robotaki focused
more on house music, while Danger was more heavy drum and bass electronic music. Although, the
opening DJ s varied in their style of music, they helped to set the mood and prepare the crowd for the
main event.
The concert began with Porter Robinson and Madeon performing live their hit song, Shelter. Together
they played the drums, remixed the set, and worked together ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

A common theme throughout the show was the use of the Wall of Sound, where many different
instruments and beats were being played simultaneously. This made the entire room fill with sound,
making it almost impossible to distinguish between the multiple layers of beats hitting you. Although,
this may have been true for much of the concert, the DJ s also incorporated the concepts of
minimalism into their work, by using very few instruments: drums, piano, a synthesizer, and
turntables. The tempo of the songs varied greatly throughout their performance, with some songs
being slowed down to incorporate new, unique sounds, and others being sped up to introduce the next
track. The canons of the songs vary greatly, with some sets of songs sounding very similar to each
other, then it will become quiet, and then the canon will change again as the concert progresses into its
next stages. Repetition also plays a major role in Porter Robinson and Madeon s music, creating a
steady beat that s easy to move to, with the rest of the song never deviating greatly from the original
beat. A great example of this is Porter Robinsons song, Divinity, where the initial beat sets the theme
for the rest of the song. In every song the musical elements build upon each other. For example, in
their song, Shelter, it starts with a beat and an electronic voice speaking. As the song progresses these
elements still exist, but other beats and sounds are

Distraction Of Technology Essay
The Distraction of Technology
While Technology gives us many opportunities, it is a major distraction because it causes distractions
in the classroom, dangers while driving, and weakens in person relationships. So with all the
opportunities technology gives us, why are we so distracted? How does it affect students learning
ability? What type of threat to our safety does it pose while driving? How does it affect our in person
relationships? Technology distracts students from their education because it causes them to be more
plugged into their devices than their education lower their grades. A paper published by the
Massachusetts Institute of Technology found that students barred from using digital devices or laptops
in lectures did better on their exams than those using computers and access the internet. The study also
found that forty seven percent of heavy technology users were found to have poor grades. So is it just
college students that technology is affecting? Data from iKeepSafe, shows that twenty eight percent of
teens say their digital engagement interferes with schoolwork. So from the data found in many studies

Explain the Relevance of the Ministry of the Prophet Amos,...
Explain the relevance of the ministry of the prophet Amos, a prophet of social justice to our present
day setting.
Writing at a time of prosperity, when a sharp contrast existed between the luxurious life of the nation s
leaders and the oppression of the poor was the prophet Amos (John W. Ritenbaugh)
During the reign of Jeroboam II Israel had become a wealthy and prosperous nation. It was a golden
age for Israel, a time of political stability and economic growth. This wealth however was not enjoyed
by everyone, as the northern kingdom became more urbanised it saw an emergence of a wealthy
middle class and a widening gulf between them and the poor. It was against this social backdrop that
the prophet Amos preached. As the people of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Western countries employ factory workers in parts of Africa and pay them as little as eight pence an
hour, when they could afford to pay them properly. They are also subjected to long hours and unsafe
working conditions. This is due to the greed that exists in Western society, where big businesses are so
concerned with making a profit that they will cut as many corners as necessary in order to increase
their gain. They get away with subjecting men, women and even children to harsh and brutal working
conditions which a Western society would not tolerate if it was happening to them. As God s people
we, like the Israelites, are called by God to stop these injustices. An article in The Guardian stated that
what the average British child spends on crisps and sweets in a year could supply a family in Malawi
with grain for a year. The bridge between the worlds riches and poorest is now so wide that simply
putting money in a charity box is not enough. We need to become more directly involved in the fight
against world poverty; this can be done by perhaps sponsoring a child or by visiting some of the world
s poorest places to help build hospitals or schools. We should all see ourselves as God s people and
therefore equal, deserving the same opportunities and standards of living. ‘God condemns their
sacrifices because of their oppression of the poor and their disregard for justice and righteousness (The
Grace Institute), their ill treatment of the poor makes their

There are many direct to consumer advertising for prescription drugs. On television, magazines, radio

popular drugs are coming to a close to their patent expiration. One of the best selling drugs is called

from other generic drug makers. The elimination of Zocar from the market will erase the $5.2 billion

Race, Ethnicity, Art and Film Essay
This paper tries to analyze race relations, ethnicity and how art and film relates to these social issues
in their cultural context. Art and film have played vital roles in advocating for a society free of
ethnicity and racism. Using vivid descriptions and evidence of both text and a movie this paper seeks
to relate accordingly the concerned issues and factors affecting these social vices. It will demonstrate
race and ethnic tendencies in diverse cultural contexts.
As a demographic phenomenon, ethnicity is belonging to a specific ethnic group possessing distinct
culture and common origin. This is called inscriptive group identity. According to Said Edward (1993)

The colonial state activated heightened and enlarged ethnicity in a variety of ways. They brought
about a diverse wider group of interaction into competition, the colonies and the administrative union
started localizing administration. They started strengthening and enlarging ethnic allegiances which
increased ethnic tensions. In addition, they actively promoted preferential treatment of ethnic groups
as a matter of policy by establishing systems of collaboration.
Social Darwinism is a socialist theory that tries to understand the reason behind colonization and other
social vices like ethnicity. It was used to justify numerous exploits which we classify as dubious moral
values today. For instance doctors were responsible for assisting to die. Social Darwinism states that
people especially colonizers failed to justify the reason why they forcefully seized land and resources
from weaker natives. This is also illustrated in the military affairs where the strongest military will
win. The application of social Darwinism has since provided the justification for more exploitative
forms of social capitalism where workers are usually paid less and yet they have worked for many
hours.
It also tries to explain the reasoning behind slavery and colonization. However, not all social
Darwinism is negative. There are positive results of social Darwinism.

The Absence Of Effective Birth Control Essay
INTRODUCTON
The absence of effective birth control led women to resort to abortion between 1900 and 1940. Up
until the arrival of the contraceptive pill in the early 1960 s, New Zealand, predominantly women, but
also men struggled to acquire effective and reliable birth control. There were many reasons why birth
control was limited and frowned upon in New Zealand for over half of the twentieth century,
including, religion, the social expectation of women, and the desire for a large population in New
Zealand. Many women advocated for the introduction of an effective form of birth control in New
Zealand for a number of years before becoming successful in 1961. The women s main argument
during their fight for contraception availability in New Zealand, was that abortion would be rare if the
introduction of a reliable contraceptive method were to happen. In this essay, I will argue that the
absence of effective birth control led women to resort to abortion between 1900 and 1940 by first
analysing the attitudes of society during this era, particularly towards women and contraception, I will
then examine the methods women were resorting to in order to prevent pregnancy, finally, I will
discuss the regular occurrence of abortions during the first half of the twentieth century and how birth
control lays a factor in this. Concluding with, the absence of effective birth control did in fact lead
women to resort to abortion from 1900 to 1940.

How Investment Is Important For Job Creation And Growth Of...
Investment is key to job creation and growth. When Germany and Pakistan signed a bilateral
investment treaty in 1959, it showed the world how modern trade and investment agreements among
countries can be concluded to protect foreign investment ( arbitration game | The Economist, n.d.).
Since then, there have been over 3000 trade and investment agreement between 180 countries. Many
of these agreements contain a mechanism called Investor State Dispute Settlement (ISDS), which
allows a foreign investor to invoke arbitration against the host government for the breach of certain
investor protections (Sapiro, 2015).
Governments put ISDS in place for at least three reasons:

They are also not bound by a legal precedent system and enjoy wide discretion. The tribunalists are
not salaried but paid by the parties (foreign investors or host government), which results in
incentivizing a pro investor bias among tribunalists. According to the Fair and Equitable Treatment
(FET), foreign investors alone enjoy broadly interpreted substantive rights which are also vague. Not
only this poses a threat to the environmental, health and financial protections but also give privileges
to foreign investors over domestic firms. Domestic firms can launch ISDS cases using their foreign
subsidiaries against their home government. Treaty shopping is another concern as foreign investors
can reshuffle their corporate structure or establish new subsidiary to access ISDS ( Do the
Commission s reform proposals for ISDS really solve the problem? Stop TTIP Stop TTIP, n.d.).
Although, there is a lot of discussion around reforming the ISDS clause, there are sound reasons why
most states still embrace the ISDS provisions in their trade and investment agreements. The domestic
quality of legal protections varies widely among states with some of the legal systems not functioning
within the acceptable standard of fairness despite treaty obligations. We do see that the largest number

Similarities Between Father And Child Relationships
Although each family differs from others, what every family has in common is the existence of
relationships. Within families, we may find several kinds of relationships such as marital relationships,
siblings relationships, mother and child relationships or father and child relationships. The
expectations are that every child will be nurtured, respected, and that he grows up to have respect for
others and develops strong and healthy relationships, but life at home may be hard sometimes.
Families where anger, mistrust or envy are constantly present reflect troubled relationships among the
members of the family. While in other families, respect, trust and good communication are the basis of

evidence of the strengthen bonds they have formed. In fact, when Weesle has to spend a weekend at
his aunt s house we can see that he really wanted to be with his family: By the time night came I just

with his father. The desperate longing for returning home so as to be with his parents clearly show that
Weesle had a strong and close relationship with his father. Ned, from Round the Bend , had also a
close relationship with his father. While reading the first pages of the short story, we get the feeling

father does not have a tender voice nor a peaceful behaviour, as he growls at him Where have you

Permanent Life Insurance Essay
How to Choose Permanent Life Insurance
Which Life Insurance Plan is Better For My Family:
You may require one or more types of life insurance to meet your financial needs and goals. Two
major categories of life insurance are term and permanent. Permanent life insurance has options
including whole life, variable life, universal life, and single premium life.
Term life
Term life insurance provides a fixed amount of coverage, at a fixed premium, over a specific period of
time or term (10, 15, 20 or 30 years). Because its premiums are generally lower, term life insurance is
often the choice made by young families. If you die before the end of the term, your beneficiaries

What else should I consider about term life?
Term life only lasts for the term you set or until you stop paying the premium. It accrues no cash value
paid out at the end of the term, if you re still living.
Permanent life
What is permanent life insurance?
Permanent life insurance covers you from date of issue until the day you die, as long as you continue
to pay your premiums. Permanent life can earn cash value as your premiums are invested. This helps
you build wealth while also protecting it. And of course, it transfers and distributes your wealth
efficiently to your heirs.
Why would I need it?
Because it never expires, permanent life can be used as the foundation of your overall life insurance
plan for a variety of life stages and financial needs.
What else should I consider about permanent life?
Permanent life policies tend to have higher premiums than term policies, and may offer less flexibility
than term life for pricing and options.
Types of permanent life insurance :
Whole, universal, variable and single premium are all types of permanent life insurance. Each may be
used for wealth accumulation, protection, distribution and transfer depending on your needs.
Features of a Permanent Life Policy
Basically, this type of life insurance provides lifetime coverage. It is typically comprised of two parts:
a savings, or investment, portion and an insurance portion.Due to the presence of the savings element,
the premiums are quite high.

Book Report On We Were Liars By E. Lockhart
The novel I chose, We Were Liars by E. Lockhart I believe was a huge plot twist and breath taker. I

would they openly accept that title of liar? I began reading the book, and the part that made me

The Role Of Prohibition In The 1920 s
Prohibition Alcohol is an integral part of contemporary and 1920 s society . The 1920 s gave way to
the rise of alcohol culture, through the 18th amendment by the outlawing of the sale, transportation,
and manufacturing of alcohol. The subsequent public disobedience of prohibition led to a corruption
of morals, government, and the emergence of organised crime which still plagues America today.
Prohibition was a time that garnered immense crime, poverty and passion. The demand for alcohol
during prohibition allowed gangsters to take over the newly defunct alcohol industry. This illegal
commerce made gangsters and their personnel millionaires, for the first time the American dream,
going from rags to riches, was conceptualized and realized. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The public distrust may have been in part due to the enactment of the Volstead act after the 18th
amendment this meant that the congressmen, state legislators, and the public didn t know what kind of
prohibition they were voting for until the Volstead act was in effect. The public opinion after
prohibition was that prohibition was a good idea but implemented poorly, thereby blaming the
government for the vast negativities of the 18th amendment.

Research Question: How can a user buyer system be used to enhance personal purchasing decisions?
Sub question: Can data mining be used to analyze consumer behaviors and preferences in order to
satisfy purchasing decision?
Literature Review
Presently, the online shopping has become increasing in today s market. Many consumers turn to use
the internet for shopping, as a result the online recommender systems have realized for facilitating
consumer needs and their interests based on previous shopping behaviors. According to Jiang, Shang,

However, these techniques lead recommender systems face with the important problems such as
sparsity, precision, and scalability problem. Thus, applying data mining techniques to the
recommender systems is concerned as a solution for solve this problem (Deuk et al., 2011). Its
capability could play a significant role for analyzing and predicting valuable customer knowledge, for
instance, purchase behaviors, customer preferences, and interests. Also, then using that knowledge for
suggesting products/services that suit and satisfy customers (Kumar Guptaa and Guptab, 2010).
2. Data mining There are various techniques involve in the recommender systems. The popular one
that is concerned to solve the existing problems is data mining techniques. Many recommender
systems implement data mining technique as a method to analyze and discover significant consumer
knowledge. Mohammed et al. (2013) and Kumar Guptaa and Guptab (2010) state that data mining is
defined as a systematical process of exploring and discovering valuable knowledge from large volume
of data in data repositories. Data mining aims to extract and disclose hidden vital patterns from data. It
has potential to collect relevant data in large volume of database and data warehouse. Additionally, the
data mining can use to anticipate future customer trends and help business to gain competitiveness

Animal Rights Controversy
For the fifth time that day, Mrs. Jacobs walks past the Miller s window where she stares at their family
pug. All of her effort to not open the door is confined in hatred, this animal that doesn t deserve to be
cooped up all day, being taken advantage of. All animals should be loved, animal critics argue, but it is
not necessary for animals to be given rights because of their lack of communication with humans. The
argument of animal rights has exploded in the last decade, creating organizations like P.E.T.A. (People
for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) and A.L.F. (Animal Liberation Front) both of which are trying
to enforce the government to create laws for animal rights. Animal rights have been a topic of
discussion as early as Ancient Rome, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What will happen to all the advancements in medical research, and will animals be put in prison or
brought to jury? The American College of Surgeons has announced that animal research for education
and scientific studies will not be able to be replaced, because of the life changing medical advances
that animals have accomplished for humans. Cancer and HIV medications have depended on animals
to test the effectiveness of the drug and the safety. In 2005, AIDS patient advocates campaigned
against PETA, criticizing the group for standing in the way of research that requires the use of animals
for toxicity testing. (Lee and Cushman 4). Animal critics believe that animals should not have rights
because of the huge improvement they had made on medicines with animal testing. Animal testing is
not supposed to harm animals its suppose to find ways to help fight diseases for humans like: Insulin
injections for diabetes patients, chemotherapy for cancer patients, stem cell transplants, vaccines for
smallpox, polio, and yellow fever (Rich). If animals were given rights, researches with animals would
have to be discontinued because it would be against the law. Scientists say it would be devastating and
would be a hold to scientific advancement in the medical field (Rich). If animals were given rights, we
can t understand them and they can t comprehend morality. Animal rights supporters argue that
everything in life should have the same equal value. Some with higher thinking, such as forming
beliefs about the world and to respond emotionally and animals that can do this can be granted natural
human rights. This has raised a question to the logical end, Consider, for instance, the relative value of
a highly functioning great ape, capable of complex communications and sophisticated tool use, and
that of a human child with severe cognitive disabilities, who will never learn language

Consumer Spending Throughout The Seasons Essay
Consumer Spending Throughout the Seasons.
We are heading towards the season of spending, black Friday is just around the corner, with that
exactly 31 days after we have Christmas. Consumer spending should be at an all time high right, with
month long sales and new deals everyday as coined with the popular shopping destinations. Now we
all agree that there are four seasons throughout the year, we have the spring equinox, summer solstice,
fall equinox, winter solstice. In most firms, they also have something called a fiscal year and that can
be broken down into 4 quarters. Consumers are always spending throughout the year, those spending
habits change with the flow of seasons.

On the bottom of the tier list we have stuff like food, water, warmth and rest. As we go higher on the
list we find more psychological needs ones that can be acquired by spending. (Maslow, 1943). Now
you may be wondering why I bring up psychology in an economics essay and to that I say marketing
which I will explain how in ties in later. Wants would be and can be anything, more expensive foods
could be a want, more clothing could be a want. If we look at figure 1 you can see consumption from
the three basic needs food, clothing and housing. The most interesting thing we can see from the graph
is that nothing stands out as being a dominate quarterly for food and housing other than the steady rise
in spending with yearly progression. Clothing as it turns out has since 2010 has always had a growth
from fourth quarter to first quarter.
Quarters and Seasons Revenues Now Walmart is a good choice in my opinion for following seasonal
consumer spending, that reason being is that they spend a lot of effect to carter to each season and
holiday s, they also spend a lot of time on demographics catering to each as well. To check this
Google finance has a handy little tool that allows us to look at reported revenue for each quarter. It
shows us that since 2006, Walmart has always had a spike in revenue

The Correlation Between The Value Of Time Series Of...
Autocorrelation
Autocorrelation is defined as the correlation between the value of time series at a specific time and
previous values of the same series (Reference). In other words, with time series what happens in time t
contains information about what will happen at time t+1. Autocorrelation plots are a commonly used
tool for checking randomness in a data set. This randomness is ascertained by computing
autocorrelations for data values at varying time lags. If random, such autocorrelations should be near
zero for any and all time lag separations. If non random, then one or more of the autocorrelations will
be significantly non zero. The autocorrelation plots can provide answers to questions such as are the
data random? Is an observation related to an adjacent observation? Is the observed time series white
noise, sinusoidal or autoregressive? They help in understanding the underlying relationship between
the data points. The autocorrelation plots of 4 time series of heating operating system are as follows :
a. Supply temperature setpoint : The plot starts with a high correlation at lag 1 which is slightly less
than 1 and slowly declines. It continues to decrease until it becomes negative and starts showing an
increasing negative correlation. The decreasing autocorrelation is generally linear with little noise.
Such a pattern in the autocorrelation plot is a signature of strong autocorrelation , which in turn
provides high predictability if modeled properly. b. System

Canonicity Of Ephesians
At the outset of the letter of Ephesians it expresses that Paul was the creator. Despite the fact that the
letter expresses this, it has been addressed if Paul was truly the creator. It is normal that Paul
composed the letter close to the time he composed the letter to the Colossians, and most likely was
still in prison. The canonicity of Ephesians has never been in debate. Its title shows up among the
titles in each known rundown since Marion s Instrument of A.D. 140 (Wood, 19). Right now the

International Navistar 6.0l Powerstroke Case Study
International Navistar 6.0l Powerstroke
In 2002 a joint project between International Navistar and the Ford Motor Company was born. The
goal of this project was to create an engine that was fuel efficient, emission compliant and would be
able to outperform all of the competition (Banks Power). With over 2 million ford super duty s
equipped with the 7.3l Powerstroke engine on the road, the new engine would have big shoes to fill.
The engine that was to replace the outdated, underpowered and overall inadequate 7.3l Powerstroke
was the International Navistar 6.0l turbo diesel. The goal of the new engine was to provide customers
with an engine that had a higher torque output, more horsepower and could comply with the new

With a mere 275 horsepower it was outperformed by all competition. Along with the dreadful
horsepower, Ford owners complained that the trucks they purchased yielded inadequate miles per
gallon (Powerstrokehub). To compensate for both these issues, for introduces a much higher pressure
fuel delivery system that would allow for the cleaner burning of fuel and overall less fuel needed to
run the engine. Ford and International Navistar also introduced a newly designed smart turbocharger.
This allowed the turbo housing to expand and contract depending on the throttle position (Truck
Trend). This allowed for a quicker spool time of the turbocharger with allowed a quicker horsepower
gain and output resulting in better fuel economy. Tighter machining tolerances were also implied for
almost all of the engine components that went into the 6.0l Powerstroke allowing grater compression
of the engine and mitigating areas where oil, air or fuel could leak out under high pressures. With all
of these changes implemented that new 6.0l Powerstroke engine boasted a whopping 325 horsepower
and 516 foot pounds of torque (Banks Power). This gave customers a truck that could outperform all

Compulsory Voting Vs. Mandatory Voting
According to Oxford Advanced Learner s Dictionary, the definition of a vote is, A formal indication of
a choice between two or more candidates or courses of action, expressed typically through a ballot or
a show of hands or by voice. When forced to make a choice, are you still making that choice?
Compulsory voting, or mandatory voting, is a system in which electors are required to vote in
elections or at least attend a polling place on Election Day. If a voter does not appear at a polling
place, and is eligible to vote, he or she may have to contribute community service or fines. This voting
system exists in about a quarter of all democracies in the world. The core goals of compulsory voting
are to increase voter turnout and to have an election reflect the will of all citizens. However, it is
improbable that this form of voting would truly change the government to be more inclusive of those
non voters than it is currently. Mandatory voting goes against American principals and American
citizens that avoid casting their ballots intentionally. Compulsory voting would fail to solve any actual
issues, and could cause even more to surface. Compulsory voting is principally undemocratic freedom
of choice must include the freedom not to choose. Forcing citizens to vote violates individual freedom,
a key staple of American democracy. Voting must be left to the individual to choose to participate or
not to participate because the right to vote or not is protected by the

Electronic Voting Is A Bad Idea Essay
Electronic voting machines can be seen as an improvement to many Americans, such as those with
disabilities and citizens with a first language other than English. However there are downsides to the
new approach that outweigh the benefits of the new voting system coming in to place.
In the passage, Electronic Voting Is a Bad Idea , there are numerous reasons stated advocating against
the use of EVMs. In paragraph one it is said, According to at least one study, poll workers are often
poorly trained on how to use EVMs. Sometimes the workers don t even know how to turn the
machines on! In Everyone Should Be Able to Vote it mentions that one of the main draws to using
EVMs is that the disabled and those who need a ballot in a language other than English would find it
easier to use. The inexperience of poll workers would simply cause more confusion to the voters with
special requests. EVMs would also cause problems for citizens who have limited knowledge on how
to use computers. It is cited in paragraph 3 of Electronic voting Is a Bad Idea , In a 2004 national
survey, researchers from the California Insititute ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Stated in Electronic Voting Is a Bad Idea , Ohio spent $115 million on EVM upgrades in 2014. Cash
strapped states can t afford this upkeep, so they end up with aging machines that don t work correctly.
Machines that are not functioning properly can lead to errors such as the one that took place in
Virginia in 2014 where dozens of voters reported that the machines had incorrectly recorded their
votes. As well as technical errors, there is the possibility for malicious activity. Again from Electronic
Voting Is a Bad Idea , the author explains, Like all computers, EVMs can be hacked. It doesn t require
a genius to tamper with the machines. In 2007, It was found that malicious software can transfer EVM
votes for one candidate to another without the voter noticing. That is an alarming thing to think

Canadian Copyright Law
There are various comparable qualities among Canadian and American copyright, for instance, the
general walks in the application strategy. Regardless, every so often Canadian lawyer and clients make
wrong assumptions about US copyright laws that can essentially influence a copyright case. Besides,
some US lawyers and clients erroneously acknowledge more resemblance between Canadian laws and
US than truly exists. The Canadian copyright law is important in today s day in age because it helps
ensure the author gets the credits necessary for their work and protects their work. This will be shown
through the following points in the article below. The Canadian copyright law has a stronger copyright
law because Canadian law has a protection by the federal government; the rights held by the author,

Use Of Performance Enhancing Drugs
The use of performance enhancing drugs (PEDs) has been exposed for a while in the world of
professional sports. Media and sports fans, myself included, look unfavorably on the use of PEDs by
professional athletes, the reasons why it s viewed as unfavorable can be attributed to the theory of
symbolic interactionism. Even though there is a large stigma against the use of PEDs the testing
process has largely remained inefficient and not reliable. Performance enhancing drugs should have a
more rigorous screening process because when they are present there is a higher risk of injury, a false
sense of talent which leads to unhappy fans, and an influence on younger athletes wanting to be like
their idol. Steroid use is ever present in the world of professional sports and is making its way down to
the collegiate and high school levels. A large reason that PED use in professional sports is because the
testing process is so poor. Many athletes, including boxing megastar Mike Tyson, have come forward
after their career on their use of PED and even other drugs. Mike admitted to using urine other than
his own to pass the tests. However the existing testing program may have put too much emphasis on
quantity and may have neglected quality. The above mentioned 1.76% of findings is in contrast to
widespread belief that at least 10% of all elite athletes are doping (Maennig, 2014, p. 1202). This
emphasizes the fact that the current tests in place are more worried about testing larger

  • 2. Difference Between Market Economy And Mixed Economy In order for a country to run, it needs to sustain a stable economy. A country can choose one of the three economies; Market economy, Planned economy, and Mixed economy. Market economy is primarily based on supply and demand and is described as a shift right on the economic spectrum. As well, resources are privately owned by businesses rather than the government. Market economy is primarily controlled by the consumers who drive the economic decision making with little government involvement. Words such as Individualism and Capitalism can be used to describe Market Economy. However, no country can ever be a 100% market economy even though countries such as The United States of America are extremely far right on the economic spectrum. Planned Economy is primarily controlled and managed by the government with little intervention from the consumers and is described as a shift left on the economic spectrum. Also, in a planned economy, the government makes decisions regarding scarcity and also finds solutions on how to terminate it by varying the production, distribution, and consumption of products. Collectivism can also be used to describe Planned Economies. However, similarly to market economies, no country can ever be 100% Planned Economy even though countries such as North Korea fall extremely far left on the economic spectrum. A mixture of both these economies would be described as a mixed economy and it would be placed centrally on the economic spectrum. Resources are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Adoption Pros And Cons realize there are consequences and birth parents should realize when they choose adoption, no matter how sound their reasoning, this is a possibility. When did the welfare of the parent become more significant than the welfare of the child? We re not trying to make anyone look bad. We re just trying to get some answers. Every adopted child has questions. We deserve some answers, (qtd. in Franko and Sanz n.p.) These are the words of Melinda Elkins Dawson, a woman who was adopted as a child who is searching for her family and answers. The parents do have a right to privacy and confidentiality that is true, but adoptees deserve to know the truth about where they came from. It has been proven through research that not all adoptees attempt to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This legislation affects all age groups, from infants who have just been lovingly accepted into a family, to a young child who wonders who his real mother and father are and why they did not want them, to full grown adults in a life consuming search to find their roots, a search that may never end. Every person deserves the right to their identity and their past. How can we, as fellow humans, deny another human their most basic and fundamental part of who they are: their name and their roots? Put yourself in the shoes of these people. Imagine having no clue who you are or where you came from. Do you have your mother s eyes? Your father s sense of humor? Are you at risk for genetically transmitted diseases? What is my story? Who am I? Your adoptive family may well still be your family. No matter what the DNA says otherwise, your adoptive mom may be your real mom to you. But your story did not start the day you were adopted, it started the day you were born. • 4. Porter Robinson And Madeon Concert Report On November 16th, I attended a Porter Robinson and Madeon concert at Echostage in Washington D.C. Porter Robinson and Madeon are both electro house, dubstep, synthpop, and EDM (Electronic Dance Music) music DJ s, who have decided to collaborate and tour together. Doors opened for the concert at 9 PM, with DJ s Robotaki (Ro bo ta key) and Danger opening for them. Robotaki focused more on house music, while Danger was more heavy drum and bass electronic music. Although, the opening DJ s varied in their style of music, they helped to set the mood and prepare the crowd for the main event. The concert began with Porter Robinson and Madeon performing live their hit song, Shelter. Together they played the drums, remixed the set, and worked together ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A common theme throughout the show was the use of the Wall of Sound, where many different instruments and beats were being played simultaneously. This made the entire room fill with sound, making it almost impossible to distinguish between the multiple layers of beats hitting you. Although, this may have been true for much of the concert, the DJ s also incorporated the concepts of minimalism into their work, by using very few instruments: drums, piano, a synthesizer, and turntables. The tempo of the songs varied greatly throughout their performance, with some songs being slowed down to incorporate new, unique sounds, and others being sped up to introduce the next track. The canons of the songs vary greatly, with some sets of songs sounding very similar to each other, then it will become quiet, and then the canon will change again as the concert progresses into its next stages. Repetition also plays a major role in Porter Robinson and Madeon s music, creating a steady beat that s easy to move to, with the rest of the song never deviating greatly from the original beat. A great example of this is Porter Robinsons song, Divinity, where the initial beat sets the theme for the rest of the song. In every song the musical elements build upon each other. For example, in their song, Shelter, it starts with a beat and an electronic voice speaking. As the song progresses these elements still exist, but other beats and sounds are ... Writing at a time of prosperity, when a sharp contrast existed between the luxurious life of the nation s leaders and the oppression of the poor was the prophet Amos (John W. Ritenbaugh) During the reign of Jeroboam II Israel had become a wealthy and prosperous nation. It was a golden age for Israel, a time of political stability and economic growth. Western countries employ factory workers in parts of Africa and pay them as little as eight pence an hour, when they could afford to pay them properly. They are also subjected to long hours and unsafe working conditions. This is due to the greed that exists in Western society, where big businesses are so concerned with making a profit that they will cut as many corners as necessary in order to increase their gain. They get away with subjecting men, women and even children to harsh and brutal working conditions which a Western society would not tolerate if it was happening to them. As God s people we, like the Israelites, are called by God to stop these injustices. An article in The Guardian stated that what the average British child spends on crisps and sweets in a year could supply a family in Malawi with grain for a year. The bridge between the worlds riches and poorest is now so wide that simply putting money in a charity box is not enough. We need to become more directly involved in the fight against world poverty; this can be done by perhaps sponsoring a child or by visiting some of the world s poorest places to help build hospitals or schools. We should all see ourselves as God s people and therefore equal, deserving the same opportunities and standards of living. ‘God condemns their sacrifices because of their oppression of the poor and their disregard for justice and righteousness (The Grace Institute), their ill treatment of the poor makes their ... In addition, they actively promoted preferential treatment of ethnic groups as a matter of policy by establishing systems of collaboration. Social Darwinism is a socialist theory that tries to understand the reason behind colonization and other social vices like ethnicity. It was used to justify numerous exploits which we classify as dubious moral values today. For instance doctors were responsible for assisting to die. Social Darwinism states that people especially colonizers failed to justify the reason why they forcefully seized land and resources from weaker natives. This is also illustrated in the military affairs where the strongest military will win. The application of social Darwinism has since provided the justification for more exploitative forms of social capitalism where workers are usually paid less and yet they have worked for many hours. It also tries to explain the reasoning behind slavery and colonization. However, not all social Darwinism is negative. There are positive results of social Darwinism. ... Up until the arrival of the contraceptive pill in the early 1960 s, New Zealand, predominantly women, but also men struggled to acquire effective and reliable birth control. There were many reasons why birth control was limited and frowned upon in New Zealand for over half of the twentieth century, including, religion, the social expectation of women, and the desire for a large population in New Zealand. Many women advocated for the introduction of an effective form of birth control in New Zealand for a number of years before becoming successful in 1961. The women s main argument during their fight for contraception availability in New Zealand, was that abortion would be rare if the introduction of a reliable contraceptive method were to happen. In this essay, I will argue that the absence of effective birth control led women to resort to abortion between 1900 and 1940 by first analysing the attitudes of society during this era, particularly towards women and contraception, I will then examine the methods women were resorting to in order to prevent pregnancy, finally, I will discuss the regular occurrence of abortions during the first half of the twentieth century and how birth control lays a factor in this. Concluding with, the absence of effective birth control did in fact lead women to resort to abortion from 1900 to 1940. NEW ZEALAND SOCIETY BETWEEN 1900 AND 1940 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When Germany and Pakistan signed a bilateral investment treaty in 1959, it showed the world how modern trade and investment agreements among countries can be concluded to protect foreign investment ( arbitration game | The Economist, n.d.). Since then, there have been over 3000 trade and investment agreement between 180 countries. Many of these agreements contain a mechanism called Investor State Dispute Settlement (ISDS), which allows a foreign investor to invoke arbitration against the host government for the breach of certain investor protections (Sapiro, 2015). Autocorrelation Autocorrelation is defined as the correlation between the value of time series at a specific time and previous values of the same series (Reference). In other words, with time series what happens in time t contains information about what will happen at time t+1. Autocorrelation plots are a commonly used tool for checking randomness in a data set. This randomness is ascertained by computing autocorrelations for data values at varying time lags. If random, such autocorrelations should be near zero for any and all time lag separations. If non random, then one or more of the autocorrelations will be significantly non zero. The autocorrelation plots can provide answers to questions such as are the data random? Is an observation related to an adjacent observation? Is the observed time series white noise, sinusoidal or autoregressive? They help in understanding the underlying relationship between the data points. The autocorrelation plots of 4 time series of heating operating system are as follows : a. Supply temperature setpoint : The plot starts with a high correlation at lag 1 which is slightly less than 1 and slowly declines. It continues to decrease until it becomes negative and starts showing an increasing negative correlation. The decreasing autocorrelation is generally linear with little noise. Mandatory Voting According to Oxford Advanced Learner s Dictionary, the definition of a vote is, A formal indication of a choice between two or more candidates or courses of action, expressed typically through a ballot or a show of hands or by voice. When forced to make a choice, are you still making that choice? Compulsory voting, or mandatory voting, is a system in which electors are required to vote in elections or at least attend a polling place on Election Day. If a voter does not appear at a polling place, and is eligible to vote, he or she may have to contribute community service or fines. This voting system exists in about a quarter of all democracies in the world. The core goals of compulsory voting are to increase voter turnout and to have an election reflect the will of all citizens. However, it is improbable that this form of voting would truly change the government to be more inclusive of those non voters than it is currently.
