A Short Note On The And Its Effects

Vertigo Patient
I went to my practicum site twice this week. Learning is the continuous process. Seeing variety of
patient with different chief complaints is helping me learn more about various diagnosis. I had a site
visit this week. My professor followed me with two patient; one had vertigo and other had back pain. I
was nervous because I never had vertigo patient before at the practicum site. One of the suggestion
provided by my preceptor was to bring my family practice guidelines book at practicum site to help
me with my HPI. I agree with her suggestion and I plan to bring family practice guidelines book
during my clinical.
The reasons for the visits were pink eye, rash around eye, upper respiratory infection, hypertension
and thyroid follow up, vertigo, seasonal allergy, back pain, corneal abrasion, chronic sinusitis, oral
contraceptive reevaluation, worried well and nausea. I have learnt from my experience so far that not
to make any assumption about the diagnosis only by chief complaints before seeing patient. This is
because with the vertigo patient at first I thought he might have BPPV but as I started to interview
patient, I realized that he had 1 episode of vertigo. His symptoms were mainly related to cerumen
impaction and seasonal allergy. For the patient with hypertension and thyroid follow up, her BP was
elevated but it was lower than the guidelines. She was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

interesting to learn that there is a diagnosis called worried well for patient with feared health
complaint in whom no diagnosis is made. For the patient with nausea, after history and physical, I
ordered some labs (CBC, CMP, thyroid panel and liver panel) to help me find the cause of the

Business Functions Of A Business
Identify the business functions MWS will need in order to operate effectively.
MWS needs a variety of business functions in order to operate effectively. Identifying the business
functions for any organization serves as a starting point in developing its mission statement. As the
business of the company is over the internet, therefore, It needs to determine that how the internet will
further the information and efforts for communication of the company and with whom the information
will be shared? The company needs to know about its statement of purpose. The way an organization
or a business uses information is linked to what the organization does. MWS needs to identify the
statement of purpose, mission and vision statement in order to bring awareness among people about
the organization s core functions and objectives, that can help the company increase sales.
State the objectives of each business function in relation to e commerce.
As a new venture, the first step for getting success in e commerce is to set the goals. The objectives
may include the plan to increase the revenues from existing customers, gaining new customers,
increasing the number of orders on daily basis, selling of the products through new and different
channels and lowering the prices (Arline, 2015). Once an organization is able to identify its goals it is
the time for the company to formulate the plan. SWOT analysis can help the firms to know about the
strengths, weakness, opportunities and threats of

Deterioration of the Nuclear Family
Deterioration of the Nuclear Family
What is a family? The meaning of family has changed throughout history. It means something
different to many people. According to the U.S. Census Bureau: A family includes a householder and
one or more people living in the same household who are related to the householder by birth,
marriage, or adoption. All people in a household who are related to the householder are regarded as
members of his or her family. A family household may contain people not related to the householder,
but those people are not included as part of the householder s family. Thus, the number of family
households is equal to the number of families, but family households may include more members than
do families. Not all households ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Teen Health and Wellness expresses that the result on children ages six to eight is most profound. It
says they are old enough to realize what is happening but do not have adequate skills to deal with the
disruption. It asserts that they often feel a sense of responsibility, experience tremendous grief, and
have a pervasive sadness and yearning for the departed parent. According to this article, adolescents
reactions to divorce include anger, a desire for a stable home, and a need for clear boundaries between
them and their parents, especially around such issues as sexuality, dating, and household
responsibilities. Dysfunctional Family testifies that teens that already have to deal with their maturing
bodies and minds, divorce is just an added burden (Dysfunctional Family).
There are instances where divorce is essential. In cases such as verbal or physical abuse of a spouse or
child, divorce may be the only solution. However, the negative effects of divorce have a large impact
on family structure. Divorce can be very stressful for young adult children, with a sense of increased
responsibility to their parents and a vulnerability to loyalty conflicts with both parents. In addition,
this article proclaims that young adults may experience a sense of loss of their family home,
abandonment by their parents, and a concern

American Indians Unexpected Places
During the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, Americans witnessed the end of the Indian
Wars, the concentration of American Indians on reservations, and the rapid industrialization and
urbanization of American life. Many people assumed that since indians were locked away on
reservations, they had little to say about and made few contributions to modernity. According to
Deloria, technology was one of the factors that made Indians modernized. Automotive mobility helped
Indian people evade supervision and take possession of the landscape, helping make reservations into
distinctly tribal spaces (Deloria, 153). When American Indians acted in ways that contradicted that
Indians were pre modern, non Native Americans Interpreted these anomalous people and instances as
either exemplars of the assimilation process or proof that Indians were inherently flawed. For instance,
many believed that indians who purchased automobiles had either adopted aspects of a superior
culture or profligately waste their meager resources (Deloria, 5,6). However, American Indians
invested meaning into their activities that contradicted America s understanding of modernity and
race. James ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Bracero Program Essay
The Bracero Program War creates all kinds of hardships on everyone involved whether it is overseas
on the front line or right in our own backyard. During World War II one hardship faced in the United
States was the lack of laborers to work the land and other taxing jobs here in the United States. The
solution, bring migrant workers from Mexico to complete the work; otherwise known as the Bracero
Program. What is the American and Mexican history leading up to the Bracero program? Were these
workers paid fair, were they treated fair, and did they benefit in the long term? The United States has a
long history of employing laborers from other countries. In 1850, Before Mexicans were prevalent;
Chinese workers were hired in California ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Under the Bracero Program Mexicans were contracted to United State farmers to tend the land
(Espinosa). These Mexicans are known as Braceros. In order to be legal, Bracero s had to obtain
permits and enter the United States through recruitment centers where they had to be deemed
physically capable of the hard labor work they were signing up for. One poplar recruitment center was
Ciudad Juarez, across the border of El Paso, Texas (Espinosa). Barcero s were under contracts with the
employer Farm Security Administration of the Department of Agriculture of the United States of
America. Farm Security Administration of the Department of Agriculture of the United States of
America could enter into contracts with farm owners known as sub employers (Marentes). The
contracts were to be written in Spanish but often times they were written in English and the Bracero s
would sign without comprehending what the contract mandated. Many events were the cause for the
termination of the Bracero Program. A prevalent event to the termination of the program was the
increased popularity of the cotton harvester. The cotton harvester was actually patented in 1850 by
Samuel S. Rembert and Jedediah Prescot. It was not manufactured however until 1949 and by 1960
cotton harvesters were utilized more than laborers themselves (Holley). Other

The Effects of Differing Response-Force Requirement in...
Introduction Previous research have demonstrated that avoidance responding is influenced by shock
intensity and duration (Leander, 1973; de Souza et al., 1984; Badia et al., 1973). Powell (1970)
investigated the effect of two shock intensities in single and multiple avoidance schedules and found
that the higher shock intensity was generally more effective in producing avoidance responding.
Leander (1973) investigated the effects of shock intensity and duration on free operant avoidance. The
results indicated that shock intensity and shock duration combine in a multiplicative fashion to
determine the avoidance performance. The relation between shock intensity and shock duration
suggested that longer shock durations can be substituted with lower shock intensities (Leander, 1973).
The increased strength and magnitude of shock predicted higher rates of avoidance responding.
However, there seems to be a minimum threshold for shock to establish and maintain avoidance
responding. De Souza et al. (1984) found that there are individual differences in sensitivity to shock.
There was a minimum shock intensity necessary to establish and maintain avoidance responding; and
intensities higher than this minimum value had little or no effect on responding (de Souza et al.,
1984). This suggests that once the range of minimum threshold sensitivity to shock for individuals in a
group is identified, any shock intensity higher than largest value in the range can potentially establish

Compulsory Education For All Children
In England compulsory education for all children starts at 5 years of age and continues up until the age
of 16 years (it has been changed to 17 years in 2013 and to 18 years in 2015 subject to a number of
conditions relating to the engagement of the student in employment, training and education).
Education for children is delivered according to their ages in schools. A school might be described as a
form of social organisation called an institution. An institution can be described as a structure for
social order that attempts to govern the behaviour of a set of individual people in a community. One
way of describing a school is as an institution constructed for the teaching of students (learners) under

The Early years Foundation Stage framework and curriculum document applies to all children
attending early years settings such as nurseries and school nurseries, school reception and year 1
classes. The Early Years Foundation Stage profile is the assessment tool used by Early Years
practitioners to measure children s learning and development and at the end of the reception year it is
forwarded to Primary School Year 1 teachers and to the Local Authority as of September 2014. In
English schools the Foundation Stage curriculum is delivered for children at 3 5 years. In Wales it is
called The Early Years Foundation Phase and is for children of 3 7 years. In Scotland the document is
called Curriculum for Excellence and sets out a curriculum for ages of 3 18 years. The curriculum for
children aged 3 4 and the early Primary School phase ( In Scotland it is called Primary 1) are
presented as one level. Children will only move to Primary 1 when they are ready. In Northern Ireland
the Foundation Stage starts at the age of 3 years and goes straight into the key stages until the age of
17 years. However the Foundation is distinguished from the Primary School curriculum and children
move onto the formal learning curriculum of the Primary School when they are ready. Post 16 years
options have altered a great deal since 2007. Pupils can leave school at age 16 but are now required by

Advantages And Disadvantages Of An Antena
An Antenna is an electrical device which converts electric power into radio waves and radio waves
into electric power. An antenna used with a radio transmitter or radio receiver. During transmission, a
radio transmitter supplies an electric current oscillating at radio frequency to the terminals of antenna,
and the antenna radiates the energy in the form of electromagnetic waves. During reception, an
antenna intercepts some of the power of an electromagnetic wave in order to produce a tiny voltage at
its terminals that is applied to a receiver to be amplified. Communication is defined as the transfer of
information from one point to another point. Communication system is required to convey the
information over a distance. The information can be transfer by superimposing or modulating the
information on to a carrier which is an electromagnetic wave. At the receiving side, the received
modulate carrier can be recovered by demodulation to get the original information. For this process
complicated techniques have been developed using electromagnetic carrier waves operating at radio
frequencies as well as millimeter and microwave frequencies. In today s modern communication
industry antennas play an important role to create a communication link. Microstrip antennas ... Show

The patient s past medical history was unremarkable. CSE labor analgesia was initiated using a loss of
resistance to normal saline technique when cervical dilation was 1 cm. Intrathecal analgesia was
initiated with bupivacaine 2.5 mg and fentanyl 15 µg and PCEA was maintained as described for Case
1. The patient developed moderate interscapular pain and lower neck pain 6 hours later. At the time of
her complaint of interscapular pain, she had received 120 mL epidural infusion solution without any
physician administered doses. She described the pain as a constant, dull, non radiating crick in the
neck between her shoulder blades, extending into her lower neck. The patient did not recognize any
aggravating or alleviating factors. She noted that she had developed the exact same pain during
epidural analgesia during her previous delivery. The basal infusion rate was decreased to 6 mL/h and
the concentration of bupivacaine in her local anesthetic/opioid infusion was increased from 0.0625%

Aging Population and Government Intervention
Part A: Rationale and Theoretical Review
i) Background and formation of the issue
According to the UN World Health Organization definition of aging over 65 years as elderly , when
the population of a region or country, the ratio of the elderly more than 7%, referred to as aging
society.
ii) Give evidence to illustrate the influence of the global issue
 The world s population is ageing rapidly. Between 2000 and 2050, the proportion of the world s
older adults is estimated to double from about 11% to 22%. In absolute terms, this is an expected
increase from 605 million to 2 billion people over the age of 60.
iii) 2 Reasons to explain the choice of the global issue
 If the advanced countries the existing retirement protection system is not adjusted, it will pose a
serious financial blow States.
 Older people face special physical and mental health challenges. The 2013 14 Budget report in
Hong Kong has mentioned the need to cope with an aging population and long term public spending
surged problem. The recurrent expenditure on medical and health services for 2013 14 will reach $49
billion, an increase of $2.7 billion over 2012 13.The bulk of the additional funding is for new
recurrent allocation to the Hospital Authority (HA) to enhance and expand appropriate public medical
services.
Part B: Analyze the global issue with different perspectives and illustrate its influence

Eviction
What s more important, food or shelter? This is the hard question many mothers have to ask
themselves every month when the rent is due. In low income, primarily black neighborhoods, this is
especially prevalent. The cost of living has greatly increased in urban areas like Milwaukee, but
government benefits are staying the same, creating a gap that cannot be easily filled. Because of this,
many black women with children have to pick between feeding their families and paying their bills,
like rent, gas, and water. The majority of mothers choose to feed their children over paying rent, and
this often results in eviction when their debt grows too large. The black community is consistently and
excessively faced with criminal charges; as Desmond ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Children who grow up in low income houses are often teased and ridiculed by peers for not having the
newest clothing, toys, etc., for not having a father at home, and for living in poor conditions, public
housing, or homeless shelters. This bullying usually results in low self esteem and depression, as well
as the higher risk for poor health. These children are also more likely to have learning difficulties, as
well as the behavioral, social, and emotional problems that come with being raised in a low income
household ( Child Development ).
So why don t these poor, black women just get help? Because they don t qualify for assistance, or they
simply can t wait around that long to receive it. Wait times for public housing can range from 1 2
years to upwards of 10, and after going through all of the paperwork and legal trouble, only 25% of
families who qualify for public housing ever receive it; the rest are struggling along in the private
market, being refused housing by dozens of landlords. Through this, evictions often encourage
economic disadvantage and social suffering in America s urban centers, such as Milwaukee

Model Of Ols Model
whether the independent variable had a positive or negative relationship to the dependent variable.
This was helpful when studying the graduated colours map of number of votes to determine how the
variables could help explain the patterns seen on the map. Once a variable was deemed suitable, an
OLS model was run to test the hypothesis that the number of votes is a function of the chosen
variable. This process was repeated with different groups of variables while assessing the outputs and
altering the composition of variables. The checks included ensuring that the coefficients have the
expected sign and are statistically significant, that there is no redundancy in the explanatory variables,

This model was chosen because it experienced the most significant increase in adjusted R2 (up from
90.5%) and a decrease in AIC (down from 773.9) from the OLS model. The coefficients that were
computed by the GWR tool and mapped (Figure 2) helped to demonstrate that each explanatory
variable and its associated coefficient vary spatially in its predictive strength of the dependent
variable. As we know, there is spatial autocorrelation and relationships in the data. This is not
necessarily negative but it is important to capture the structure of the correlation in the model residues
with explanatory variables. Until then, the model cannot necessarily be trusted (ESRI, 2016).
However, the high level of significance of the p value (0.0000) and the z value (6.059441) indicate
that the model can be trusted. The small p value indicates that the coefficients are not zero and
therefore the explanatory variables are statistically significant predictors of the behaviour of the
dependent variable (ESRI, 2016). The small dataset is more troubling. Some future solutions for
eliminating spatial autocorrelation include continuing to resample variables until there is no more
statistically significant spatial autocorrelation (clustering). Unfortunately, that was not accomplished
during the OLS regression without interfering with the ability of the GWR to run. The output of the

High alveolar ventilation brings more O2 into the alveoli, increasing O2 , and rapidly eliminating CO2
from the lungs (for chemical abbreviations see Table 2). Partial pressure of gases Dalton s law
explains the partial pressure of a gas, which is the pressure exerted by a gas within a mixture of gases
independent of each gas in the mixture (Marieb, 2004). The partial pressure of each gas is directly
proportional to its percentage in the total mixture and in air is determined by atmospheric pressure.
Atmospheric pressure is 101 kPa (760 mmHg), 21% of this air is oxygen, and the partial pressure of
oxygen (PO2 ) in atmospheric air is: 21 × 101 = 21.2 kPa 100 Within the alveoli the PO2 is different
to air because of enrichment in the air passages (dead space) with CO2 and water vapour. Alveolar air
contains much more CO2 and water vapour and much less O2 and so makes a greater contribution to
the near atmospheric pressure in the lungs, then they do in air. This is due to: gas exchanges occurring
in the lungs, humidification of air by the conducting passages, mixing of gases in the dead space
(contains air not involved in gaseous exchange) between the nose and alveoli. In alveoli, PO2
averages only 13.2 kPa (100 mmHg). Continuous consumption of O2 and production of CO2 in the
cells means that there is a partial pressure gradient both in the lungs and at the tissue level

Harm Principle Argument Analysis
Harm can be understood by many individuals in a multitude of ways; however, one theory that would
not agree with Donald Trump s claim concerning the American Flag would be Mill s Harm Principle,
as the only harm that constitutes regulation is physical harm when it concerns our rights. Mill states
that limitations cannot be placed on one s freedom of liberty if no injury is created thus (Mill, On
Liberty 71 75). Being offended by the burning of an American Flag, for example, would not require
any form of regulation of this symbolic, since it does not cause physical injury. Mill also supports the
acceptance of this symbolic speech, as a form of maximizing social utility and happiness, while
lowering government coercion/control. In addition, Feinberg expands upon this utilitarian ideal to
include the other forms of harm that fall within the extent of our rights, where he scrutinizes various
instances of emotional/psychological harm (e.g., embarrassment, disgust, fear) to make the individual
question if the harm ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Devlin claims that, as society evolves, whether desired to or not, we will also change with society. As
societal practices and values begin to change over time, some people and their values will not want to
follow the progressive trend but are forced to anyways. If one does not choose to adopt the new
societal views, the individuals may not feel comfortable with expressing their views. Consequently,
this progression would be seen, from Devlin perspective, as a form of regression, as we are losing our
values. As a critique to Mill s Harm Principle, even if it does not physically harm someone, one is still
harmed by the act, since society is built and modified based on the social practices. More explicitly,
conservative communitarians would view the acceptance of flag burning as a social practice of society
that will lead it to fall apart if it changes the values that it was built

through his word choice, tone, and vivid imagery. Using a destitute tone consistently throughout the
first stanza, Owen creates a specific atmosphere. Giving objects life through extensive personification,
and comparing them through many similes. Owen also gives us a clear depiction of how he saw war,
being a soldier himself against the backdrop of WWI, Owen had a strong opposition to war and
suffered himself from shell shock. A portion of his poem in the last stanza is a direct reference to
Jessie Pope, a pro war poet. In the first stanza, the entire tone is dreary and completely void of any
positive qualities. Owen utilizes many sensory devices to give us a specific and intended feeling of
how the soldiers feel and to the extent of how exhausted they are. He creates vivid imagery through ...

Lab Experiment On The Effect Of Temperature On Enzymes
Title: Effects of Temperature on Enzymes
Problem/Purpose: How does temperature affect the rate of enzyme activity on its substrate?
Hypothesis: If the temperature increases, then rate of the chemical reaction will increase as well, and
if the temperature decreases, then the rate of reaction will also decrease.
Data:
There were three test tubes in which the experiment was held. A relatively equal sized portion of raw
potato (this contained the enzyme [a biological catalyst] hydrogen peroxidase) was placed in each
tube. Then, enough water to cover the potato was added. Proceeding this, each of the test tubes were
assigned a temperature; cold, room temperature or warm (this was written on the tag so that they were
not confused). The test tube destinated cold was placed in a ice bath for five minutes. At the same
time, the hot test tube was placed in a hot water bath for five minutes. Meanwhile, the room
temperature test tube sat at room temperature for five minutes. When the five minutes were over, the
test tubes were returned to the rack (so that they were able to be observed). Then, the test tubes were
allowed to sit at room temperature for five more minutes. Once that period of time was over, 2 ml of
hydrogen peroxide (the substrate) was added to each tube.
Once this step was completed, a timer was started and observations were made. Using the timer, how

Slavery Abolition Act In The 19th Century
On the 1st August 1838, enslaved men, women, and children in Britain became free and liberated,
however slavery did not end with the passing of the Slavery Abolition Act in the 19th century.
This booklet intends to inform the public on modern slavery in Britain. The main points of focus will
be to outline the implications of modern slavery, the current law prohibiting slavery and whether it can
be prevented in Britain. Human trafficking is one of the most common forms of slavery and will
subsequently be analysed in greater detail.
Typically, slavery is when a person controls or has ownership of another person for exploitation, and is
a crime against a person s dignity and an abuse of their fundamental human rights. The United Nations

Benefits Of A Shift From A Service Based Economy
Introduction
There is no doubt that nowadays we can observe a shift from a service based economy to an
experience based economy as owners of businesses tend to commoditize services and thereby offer
their customers not a simple service for the money but an unforgettable, special and highly valued
experience. The service profit chain which links the employees , customers and owners satisfaction
stands behind this experience. These days it is believed that customers want to receive an authentic
and remarkable experience for their money, rather than a service which can be offered in every place,
they want to feel unique, that is why there is a growing interest in this topic.
According to B. Joseph Pine II and James H. Gilmore, an experience occurs when a company
intentionally uses services as the stage and goods as props, to engage individual customers in a way
that creates a memorable event (Pine II, Gilmore, 1998). Therefore, companies are trying to create a
specific experience which will help them to distinguish themselves from other companies providing
the same service. In order to do that it is very important to understand the links in the service profit
chain.
In every business and in a hotel industry especially it is crucial for every manager to understand how
to maintain employees and customers satisfaction while continuing earning profit for the owner. First
of all, every manager should comprehend the links in the service profit chain, for example, customer

Economic Policies Of El Salvador And Other Nations Essay
Dollarization: A Comparison of Economic Policies in El Salvador and Other Nations Dollarization is
the process in which nations replace their domestic currencies [with foreign legal tender] ...to obtain
economic growth and stability (Rivera Solis 330). The US dollar is the most common choice of
exchange in this practice, though the adoption of other first world states currencies may be entertained
as well. Though its effects are not instant, US dollarization has brought many gradual benefits to the
economic statuses of several countries. There are two types of dollarization: official and unofficial. In
the process of official dollarization, a state gives complete monetary control to a foreign nation,
ceding its right to both create a central bank and issue a domestic form of currency. Where as a nation
loses its sovereignty to make decisions concerning its money supply in official dollarization, unofficial
dollarization allows states to keep most of its control in place. Nations who implement dollarization
unofficially keep their ability to own a central bank to fall back on, in cases of economic emergency,
and regulate their own currency. Some studies encourage the promotion of official dollarization, while
other scorn it s outcome and option for its slighter counterpart, partial dollarization, instead. This
paper explores the differences in both policies and the effects of dollarization on four separate nations:

The 1986 movie Gung ho was able to provide what can be described as a classic example of culture
conflict and complications occurring as a result of two cultures clashing against each other, as the
Japanese businessman Mr. Sakamto came into the small American town and obtained the factory after
a successful bid by Hunt Stevenson (Michael Keaton) for the Japanese to take over the factory and
save the small town from economic troubles. Hunt was hired to laisse between the workers and the

groups decline as they learn from each other regarding expectations, attitudes and cultural differences

What Does To His Coy Mistress Mean
Analyzing Fiction Paper on To His Coy Mistress In Andrew Marvell s love poem To His Coy Mistress
, arguments for sexual freedom are evident as sexual conquest is illustrated by the clever use of thinly
veiled sexual innuendo, a pinch of erotic metaphor, and mocking humor. At initial glimpse of the
poem s title, one might easily misperceive the objective of the lyric as a whole and immediately
assume the worst due to the evolution of terminology over time. When Marvell uses the lexeme
mistress , he is referring to the term lover . In modern day terminology, mistress could be interpreted
as an individual with whom an affair is occurring . This composition contains several characteristics of
a traditional love poem. But, if you analyze deeper into the poem, you may discover that To Coy His
Mistress is more of a dramatic monologue. The speaker does all of the talking, which stamps the
writing as a monologue. The rhetorician is conversing with his mistress, which defines the lyric as
dramatic. Although, as the reader, you may identify with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

embrace the desires they have. The poem soon shifts and darkens as it proceeds and the time push and
sexual seduction focus moves into the objectionable reaches of decay and decimation. The recognition
of death is introduced when Marvell states, But at my back I always hear/ Time s winged chariot

Literary works represent an important part of culture. Literary has many elements that serve as levers

Descriptive Essay On Canada Day
I think they call it Canada Day. A holiday in the middle of summer not unlike Independence Day in
the United States. On this occasion, I happened to be visiting friends in Tete Juene Cache, British
Columbia, several hundred miles into the interior. Tete Jeune was the French word for Yellow Head .
The name, like the town itself, was a vivid reminder of the not so long ago gold rush days. Fewer than
a thousand residents hid in the forests and canyons of this small settlement that clung to the western
edge of the Canadian Rockies. My friends Chuck Gail had settled here just the year before, buying an
old homestead that included one hundred and sixty acres of fields and woodlands at the foot of Mica
Mountain. Now from the mountain, flowed a creed of the same name, the actual disposition of, was
sometimes that of a well healed river in spring, often a mere trickle in summer. On this hot Sunday in
July however, new friends and families were arriving at Chuck Gail s every moment. A holiday picnic
had been planned in front of the farmhouse. Tables had been set up; barbecue pits ignited, croquet
mallets waited. Howard the Monk arrived early, bringing with him a pot of still warm baked beans.
Howard the Monk, was a man whose true vocation was still under a fair amount of speculation.
Rumors had him placed in the States during the Vietnam conflict. He wore a long traditional brown
robe with a thick braided rope tied at his waist. He had a great image in the wintertime. As I

For how difficult and lengthy a season is, a championship to cap it off is a breath of fresh air after a

this overall objective. As stated by the National Hockey League s commissioner Gary Bettman in an
interview, Perhaps the predominant one may be, and this is my speculation, the game is so competitive
now that teams are focusing more on skill and having four lines that can help you win a game (Kuc,
2016). Evidently, Gary Bettman states a great point. Being the commissioner of the NHL, Gary has
seen and dealt with all possible when it comes to the league and it s issues. When the individual in
charge of the league is stating that the game is developing and fighting isn t part of what guides a team
towards their overall objective, then one can clearly see it s unnecessary. Teams need a set of four,
forward lines and three defensive lines that can all compete at the highest level possible, being
productive for the entire season. When a team has players in their lineup that are specifically there to
cause chaos without production, valuable spots on the team for successful players are compromised.

1.1 What is Dementia?
Dementia is a broad term used to describe a various amount of diseases that are associated with the

culprit for almost half the cases of dementia seen in patients (O Shea, 2007). Other common forms of
dementia include vascular dementia, mixed dementia and lewy body dementia. The more uncommon
forms of dementia include picks disease, creutzfeldt jacob disease, parkinsons and huntington disease.

Ireland because there is a fast growing rate of dementia patients seen each year. The increase in the
number of dementia patients makes it even more important to provide more community resources,
such as community projects and more community services.
The various methods of housing and care facilities in the EU are housing with care, sheltered housing,
hostels and specialist care units. The main form of care for people suffering from dementia is family
and home care. There are very few care facilities located in Ireland compared to those in other EU
countries. People with dementia usually do not receive the treatment and attention that they need until
it is too late. Cahill et al. (2012) explains that the funding system in Ireland is more supportive of
home care rather than long term care facilities. Only 6% of dementia funding is available to
community care services. It is a large belief that most patients with dementia are disregarded or
ignored due to the fact that the process of caring for them is difficult and stressful for nurses and

The Scientific Management Theory (Taylorism)
In 1911, Frederick Winslow Taylor published his work, The Principles of Scientific Management, in
which he described how the application of the scientific method to the management of workers greatly
could improve productivity.
Scientific management methods called for optimizing the way that tasks were performed and
simplifying the jobs enough so that workers could be trained to perform their specialized sequence of

The Human Relations Theory (The Hawthorne Effect)
The Hawthorne Studies (or experiments) were conducted from 1927 to 1932 at the Western Electric
Hawthorne Works in Chicago, where Harvard Business School professor Elton Mayo examined
productivity and work conditions.
Elton Mayo started these experiments by examining the physical and environmental influences of the
workplace (e.g. brightness of lights, humidity) and later, moved into the psychological aspects (e.g.
breaks, group pressure, working hours, managerial leadership) and their impact on employee
motivation as it applies to productivity.
The Hawthorne Effect can be summarized as Employees are more productive because the employees
know they are being studied. Elton Mayo s experiments showed an increase in worker productivity
was produced by the psychological stimulus of being singled out, involved, and made to feel
important.
Specifically, Mayo wanted to find out what effect fatigue and monotony had on job productivity and
how to control them through such variables as rest breaks, work hours, temperature and humidity. In
the process, he stumbled upon a principle of human motivation that would help to revolutionize the
theory and

The Rotten Damage Of Food Waste
The Rotten Damage of Food Waste
Growing up, children were most likely told to always finish all the food on their plates because
somewhere else in the world, another child was starving. Most kids never really understand how
serious the matter actually is and it is expected for adults to know better but here we are in 2016 where
roughly one third of food produced is wasted every year. The problem with this is that about 21,000
people die per day from starvation, but where is that food they need to live? It s rotting in the fridge, it
s being used for contests to see who can eat the fastest, or it s simply been thrown away because the
sun has gone down and people refuse to buy it the following day if it s not new. What s even more
depressing is that most starvation deaths are of children.
The first problem here is poverty. How can someone work when they re so hungry and sick? How can
someone get a job they re too sick to work? It s bad enough that a child would die of starvation, but if
the father or mother dies of starvation, then the whole family could die too due to the fact that there s
no one to go to work. Not many people step up to help the hungry child because they have their own
family to think about. This isn t to say that no one notices starving countries because it s more than
likely that everyone has seen the commercials on tv of children in different countries running around
while the narrator explains how anyone can help by simply donating maybe five dollars.

So it is also attractive for Jules Kroll to take this opportunity to enter the credit rating industry. In
addition, the issuer pays model, which used by the big three rating agencies, lets companies shop
around for the best ratings, putting pressure on the agencies to inflate their grades. As a result, it is
very difficult to argue that they can adequately represent the users side. Therefore, Jules Kroll wants to
use another model that can assign unbiased and reliable ratings.
Threat The leading ratings agencies, Moody s, Standard Poor s and Fitch a triumvirate some liken to
an oligopoly, almost dominate the whole market. Their long history operations, great reputation and
customers loyalty in the industry lead them incomparable to new entrants. Furthermore, Kroll also
faces competition from new entrants like Meredith Whitney, a banking analyst who is getting into the
ratings business, and Morningstar, of mutual fund fame, and the Chinese municipal rating agency
Dagong with huge capital. Therefore, it is tough for Kroll to break into this new industry where the
three dominant incumbents have 97% of all ratings.
In conclusion, we could say it is a good time for Kroll to enter credit rating business since the big
three agencies lost considerable investor confidence during the financial crisis, and that the sector is
ripe for new blood. However, based on our SWOT analysis, we don t think it

Pacifism is when a person is not in favor of fighting, violence, and/or war. For example, if a group of
bullies, let s say two to three, sees a person, that they know is a pacifist, and start throwing punches.
The people will most certainly not stop pouncing the guy until they are satisfied. Additionally,
Professor Hare claims that pacifism is unjustified, and as such they contain flues in them that makes
them unjust. An example that was stated in the reading, regards the predicament of a pacifist during a
state of war. In a state of war, usually the male adults would go to the battlefield, whereas the elders
and females stay and contribute within factories, medical camps, etc. However, Hare believes that, for
example, If the American government, or anybody else, had a principle which required them to do that
kind of thing, then this was an argument for abandoning the principle. And I think that they would
have abandoned it if the had... (P.139). Thus, Hare believe that such a principle is bound to end. As his
example state that during a war that is when people s duty as citizen comes to play, and in such a state
people are bound to break their principle, such as pacifism, and follow their duty. Furthermore, Hare
claims, on page 140, that the consequences of pacifism is that, everybody in my position...have such a
principle would be much worse that the consequence of having the principle which I do in fact have,
which allows me to fight in certain war (P.140). So, in times of need, such a principle will end up
misleading and at such principles as pacifism, people s actions will be unjustified. Ultimately, the

Horse Environmental Changes
The environmental changes that took place throughout history caused species of animals to adapt to
the changing conditions. One such animal where this is especially apparent is the evolution of the
horse. In order to survive, horses evolved traits such as longer limbs, rigid teeth and others that
allowed them the best chance of survival. Overall, it is apparent that the morphology of the horse
changed due to environmental conditions, especially when studying the fossilized teeth, jaws, and
limbs. One of the earliest horse species is known as Hyracotherium. It is believed that this species did
not live on open grasslands like modern horses but instead, lived in thick, closed canopy forests. As
we saw in lab, the teeth of Hyracotherium are rather pointed which indicates that the species was a
browser of leaves and fruits in forests. Its small skull and rostrum also leads one to believe that it had
a diet of these easily chewable foods found in closed canopy forests. In contrast, the modern horse has
very flat rigid teeth which indicates the species is a grazer of grass. In class, one of the trends we
observed was that phalange number decreased over time (Lab Data). An organism with more

horses to run away from predators. We also observed the formation of the hoof. Over time, the outer
metatarsal decreased in length compared to the central metatarsal. Another trend we saw was that the
central metatarsal increased in length over the course of history (Lab Data). This would further allow

When Hendrix music became more and more important in American rock, people didn t think about
black music as a synonym to soul and blues anymore. He changed the way black music had sounded
like forever. While creating the extraordinary playing style he had, Hendrix made the groundwork for
what later evolved to different genres, for example R B, British rock, blues and soul. Hendrix isn t
remembered as the first black rock star. He s remembered as the first rock star .
He explored new style and techniques, which helped him lay the foundation for several music genres.

Purpose and Audience for the AT T Site
In discussing the purpose and audience for the AT T site, the possibilities are endless. This is due to the
fact that the document is online, which means it is exposed to more people than a regular print
document would most likely be exposed too. The fact that the document is a website and available on
the internet makes the purpose more multi faceted based on the audience groups viewing it.
People the ages of 3 to 99 are on the internet these days. The internet is something that most people
use to access information about well anything. The AT T sites purpose is to promote their brand, and
inform people about it. Before looking at the AT T site I wasn t aware of all of the different services
they offer other than wireless, after only viewing the page for seconds I quickly became informed
otherwise. That is there purpose brand awareness, making people aware of the brand and promoting
all of their services. The site also has a section that informs people about the company and what their
goals and ambitions are as a company. The about AT T link also goes into depth about the active role
that AT T plays in the community. The site also promotes their careers available at AT T, and even
gives current AT T members access to support for their services. Although the site has many purposes,
I would say that the main purpose is brand awareness. AT T centers their site around all of the
different products and services they offer, they want to get the word out about everything that

Discussion Group Discussion Questions
1. a) The class is in a productive zone when every individual is contributing to the discussion.
Prevalent silence is a sign that we aren t being productive, but the discussion must also be meaningful
rather than just filling the silence. For me personally, I need to make sure to pick the times when my
input is most insightful to speak up, as well as trying to reach out to the people who are quiet. My
level of heat started out too high and went down to a manageable amount where I don t feel nearly as
afraid to contribute. The class as a whole tends a little on the cold side, and that seems mostly due to
fear of heat. It s not that people don t want to contribute, it s that they re afraid of saying something
stupid or meaningless.

Jeff says he doesn t want to edit the paper, but he accepts anyways. Annie believes she can prove that
the school is profiling. Annie and Britta don t want to add anyone to the study group. Jeff frequently
excersises control over the study group.
Interpretations: Jeff just wants the editor position so he can have an office. Annie thinks the school s
Dean is racist. Annie doesn t actually think the school s Dean is racist, she only wants to have an
interesting story for the paper. The study group is conflicted about adding new people. The study
group looks to Jeff for guidance.
3. What has surprised you about the group dynamic in the class?
There has been a lot of genuine support for other peoples ideas and also the conversation we all had
where we established that we don t think other people look as stupid as they think they do. I realize
that we re all civil, but I feel like people actually care more than I would have expected. 4. At first I
didn t think I was going to enjoy this class at all, but it s actually grown on me. Outside of this class, I
don t think I would be friends with anyone, but inside I actually appreciate them and seeing how they

Star Of David And The Menorah s Symbols
It seems that the earliest use of the symbol was in the form of a hexagram and used in many cultures
for decorative purposes that continued through the Middle Ages. Around the 17th century, the star was
found in Synagogue architecture in the Middle East, North Africa and Europe and was used by
Christians, Hindus, and Muslims at some point in time. The symbol gained more prominence when it
was chosen to appear on the flag at the First Zionist Congress in 1897. When the Zionists searched for
a symbol of their movement, they picked both the Star of David and the menorah, one for their flag,
and one for their national seal. The Star was also used during the Holocaust, when the Nazis made the

Even their flags were without symbolism and writing of any kind. However, the symbol is in fact
known to be have been used in graphic depictions as early as the Babylonian period in Mesopotamia.
For example, the Stele of Ur Namu, which dated from 2100 BC, included the Crescent Moon and Star
which is believed to symbolize the goddess Ishtar (the star) and Nanna, the god of moon and wisdom
(the crescent moon). Later, when the Turks conquered Constantinople (Istanbul) in 1453 CE, they
adopted the city s existing flag and symbol (A History of the Crescent Moon in Islam, n.d.) but with
an 8 pointed star which was a common symbol for the Virgin Mary. There is speculation that the 8
pointed star changed to the five pointed star to represent the five pillars of Islam. The use of the
symbol is not accepted by all Muslims as many consider it blasphemous. Despite this, the crescent
symbol is still widely associated with Islam, appearing on the flags of many Muslim countries and on
mosques such as the Al Aqsa Mosque in

The Nightmare Before Christmas At The El Capitan Theatre
When I heard we were going to the The Nightmare Before Christmas at the El Capitan Theatre, I was
ecstatic. This was one of my favorite childhood movies and I had not seen it in maybe 10 years. The
night started with us boarding the coach bus which was playing the movie Kidnap starring Halle
Berry. This was most of us on the bus seeing the movie for the first time so we were very into it. Since
we are a bunch of film/TV students we easily all became instant critics of the film. Not Ms. Halle, Ms.
Halle is amazing as always. It was the writing and the scenarios that she was placed in that didn t seem
plausible. This made the ride over very entertaining, a bunch of students reacting and laughing to
situations that are dire in the movie. We were very invested. Once we arrived at the theater, I was
taken a back from how visually loud it was. All the lights and colors, it was so Hollywood. I loved it.

I was so excited. It may be hard to believe but, this was my first time seeing a movie in 3D. Before the
show started there was a raffle for some cool prizes and an announcement that there are some extras to
this movie throughout the theater to make us feel more immersed in the film. I m not going to lie; I
was a little scared because I wasn t quite sure what that meant. Nevertheless, the movies started and
the first sign of being in the movies were the jack o lanterns that were projected onto the theater walls.
The movie was as every bit enjoyable as when I used to watch with my family as a child. The
surprises the theater had instore like the wind blowing and ultimately the snow made the experience

My professor followed me with two patient; one had vertigo and other had back pain. I was nervous because I never had vertigo patient before at the practicum site. One of the suggestion provided by my preceptor was to bring my family practice guidelines book at practicum site to help me with my HPI. I agree with her suggestion and I plan to bring family practice guidelines book during my clinical. The reasons for the visits were pink eye, rash around eye, upper respiratory infection, hypertension and thyroid follow up, vertigo, seasonal allergy, back pain, corneal abrasion, chronic sinusitis, oral contraceptive reevaluation, worried well and nausea. I have learnt from my experience so far that not to make any assumption about the diagnosis only by chief complaints before seeing patient. This is because with the vertigo patient at first I thought he might have BPPV but as I started to interview patient, I realized that he had 1 episode of vertigo. According to the U.S. Census Bureau: A family includes a householder and one or more people living in the same household who are related to the householder by birth, marriage, or adoption. All people in a household who are related to the householder are regarded as members of his or her family. American Indians Unexpected Places During the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, Americans witnessed the end of the Indian Wars, the concentration of American Indians on reservations, and the rapid industrialization and urbanization of American life. Many people assumed that since indians were locked away on reservations, they had little to say about and made few contributions to modernity. According to Deloria, technology was one of the factors that made Indians modernized. Automotive mobility helped Indian people evade supervision and take possession of the landscape, helping make reservations into distinctly tribal spaces (Deloria, 153). When American Indians acted in ways that contradicted that Indians were pre modern, non Native Americans Interpreted these anomalous people and instances as either exemplars of the assimilation process or proof that Indians were inherently flawed. Introduction Previous research have demonstrated that avoidance responding is influenced by shock intensity and duration (Leander, 1973; de Souza et al., 1984; Badia et al., 1973). Powell (1970) investigated the effect of two shock intensities in single and multiple avoidance schedules and found that the higher shock intensity was generally more effective in producing avoidance responding. Leander (1973) investigated the effects of shock intensity and duration on free operant avoidance. The results indicated that shock intensity and shock duration combine in a multiplicative fashion to determine the avoidance performance. The relation between shock intensity and shock duration suggested that longer shock durations can be substituted with lower shock intensities (Leander, 1973). The increased strength and magnitude of shock predicted higher rates of avoidance responding. However, there seems to be a minimum threshold for shock to establish and maintain avoidance responding. De Souza et al. (1984) found that there are individual differences in sensitivity to shock. There was a minimum shock intensity necessary to establish and maintain avoidance responding; and intensities higher than this minimum value had little or no effect on responding (de Souza et al., 1984). This suggests that once the range of minimum threshold sensitivity to shock for individuals in a group is identified, any shock intensity higher than largest value in the range can potentially establish and ... • 11. Advantages And Disadvantages Of An Antena An Antenna is an electrical device which converts electric power into radio waves and radio waves into electric power. An antenna used with a radio transmitter or radio receiver. During transmission, a radio transmitter supplies an electric current oscillating at radio frequency to the terminals of antenna, and the antenna radiates the energy in the form of electromagnetic waves. During reception, an antenna intercepts some of the power of an electromagnetic wave in order to produce a tiny voltage at its terminals that is applied to a receiver to be amplified. Communication is defined as the transfer of information from one point to another point. Communication system is required to convey the information over a distance. The information can be transfer by superimposing or modulating the information on to a carrier which is an electromagnetic wave. At the receiving side, the received modulate carrier can be recovered by demodulation to get the original information. In low income, primarily black neighborhoods, this is especially prevalent. Because of this, many black women with children have to pick between feeding their families and paying their bills, like rent, gas, and water. This model was chosen because it experienced the most significant increase in adjusted R2 (up from 90.5%) and a decrease in AIC (down from 773.9) from the OLS model. The coefficients that were computed by the GWR tool and mapped (Figure 2) helped to demonstrate that each explanatory variable and its associated coefficient vary spatially in its predictive strength of the dependent variable. As we know, there is spatial autocorrelation and relationships in the data. This is not necessarily negative but it is important to capture the structure of the correlation in the model residues with explanatory variables. Until then, the model cannot necessarily be trusted (ESRI, 2016). However, the high level of significance of the p value (0.0000) and the z value (6.059441) indicate that the model can be trusted. The small p value indicates that the coefficients are not zero and therefore the explanatory variables are statistically significant predictors of the behaviour of the dependent variable (ESRI, 2016). The small dataset is more troubling. Some future solutions for eliminating spatial autocorrelation include continuing to resample variables until there is no more statistically significant spatial autocorrelation (clustering). High alveolar ventilation brings more O2 into the alveoli, increasing O2 , and rapidly eliminating CO2 from the lungs (for chemical abbreviations see Table 2). Partial pressure of gases Dalton s law explains the partial pressure of a gas, which is the pressure exerted by a gas within a mixture of gases independent of each gas in the mixture (Marieb, 2004). The partial pressure of each gas is directly proportional to its percentage in the total mixture and in air is determined by atmospheric pressure. Atmospheric pressure is 101 kPa (760 mmHg), 21% of this air is oxygen, and the partial pressure of oxygen (PO2 ) in atmospheric air is: 21 × 101 = 21.2 kPa 100 Within the alveoli the PO2 is different to air because of enrichment in the air passages (dead space) with CO2 and water vapour. Alveolar air contains much more CO2 and water vapour and much less O2 and so makes a greater contribution to the near atmospheric pressure in the lungs, then they do in air. This is due to: gas exchanges occurring in the lungs, humidification of air by the conducting passages, mixing of gases in the dead space (contains air not involved in gaseous exchange) between the nose and alveoli. In alveoli, PO2 averages only 13.2 kPa (100 mmHg). Continuous consumption of O2 and production of CO2 in the cells means that there is a partial pressure gradient both in the lungs and at the tissue level ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 17. Harm Principle Argument Analysis Harm can be understood by many individuals in a multitude of ways; however, one theory that would not agree with Donald Trump s claim concerning the American Flag would be Mill s Harm Principle, as the only harm that constitutes regulation is physical harm when it concerns our rights. Mill states that limitations cannot be placed on one s freedom of liberty if no injury is created thus (Mill, On Liberty 71 75). Being offended by the burning of an American Flag, for example, would not require any form of regulation of this symbolic, since it does not cause physical injury. Mill also supports the acceptance of this symbolic speech, as a form of maximizing social utility and happiness, while lowering government coercion/control. In addition, Feinberg expands upon this utilitarian ideal to include the other forms of harm that fall within the extent of our rights, where he scrutinizes various instances of emotional/psychological harm (e.g., embarrassment, disgust, fear) to make the individual question if the harm ... Benefits Of A Shift From A Service Based Economy Introduction There is no doubt that nowadays we can observe a shift from a service based economy to an experience based economy as owners of businesses tend to commoditize services and thereby offer their customers not a simple service for the money but an unforgettable, special and highly valued experience. The service profit chain which links the employees , customers and owners satisfaction stands behind this experience. These days it is believed that customers want to receive an authentic and remarkable experience for their money, rather than a service which can be offered in every place, they want to feel unique, that is why there is a growing interest in this topic. According to B. Joseph Pine II and James H. Gilmore, an experience occurs when a company intentionally uses services as the stage and goods as props, to engage individual customers in a way that creates a memorable event (Pine II, Gilmore, 1998). Therefore, companies are trying to create a specific experience which will help them to distinguish themselves from other companies providing the same service. In order to do that it is very important to understand the links in the service profit chain. Economic Policies Of El Salvador And Other Nations Essay Dollarization: A Comparison of Economic Policies in El Salvador and Other Nations Dollarization is the process in which nations replace their domestic currencies [with foreign legal tender] ...to obtain economic growth and stability (Rivera Solis 330). The US dollar is the most common choice of exchange in this practice, though the adoption of other first world states currencies may be entertained as well. Though its effects are not instant, US dollarization has brought many gradual benefits to the economic statuses of several countries. There are two types of dollarization: official and unofficial. In the process of official dollarization, a state gives complete monetary control to a foreign nation, ceding its right to both create a central bank and issue a domestic form of currency. Where as a nation loses its sovereignty to make decisions concerning its money supply in official dollarization, unofficial dollarization allows states to keep most of its control in place. Nations who implement dollarization unofficially keep their ability to own a central bank to fall back on, in cases of economic emergency, and regulate their own currency. Some studies encourage the promotion of official dollarization, while other scorn it s outcome and option for its slighter counterpart, partial dollarization, instead. This paper explores the differences in both policies and the effects of dollarization on four separate nations: El Salvador, Panama, Zimbabwe, and the British Virgin ... What Does To His Coy Mistress Mean Analyzing Fiction Paper on To His Coy Mistress In Andrew Marvell s love poem To His Coy Mistress , arguments for sexual freedom are evident as sexual conquest is illustrated by the clever use of thinly veiled sexual innuendo, a pinch of erotic metaphor, and mocking humor. At initial glimpse of the poem s title, one might easily misperceive the objective of the lyric as a whole and immediately assume the worst due to the evolution of terminology over time. When Marvell uses the lexeme mistress , he is referring to the term lover . In modern day terminology, mistress could be interpreted as an individual with whom an affair is occurring . This composition contains several characteristics of a traditional love poem. But, if you analyze deeper into the poem, you may discover that To Coy His Mistress is more of a dramatic monologue. • 35. The Rotten Damage Of Food Waste The Rotten Damage of Food Waste Growing up, children were most likely told to always finish all the food on their plates because somewhere else in the world, another child was starving. Most kids never really understand how serious the matter actually is and it is expected for adults to know better but here we are in 2016 where roughly one third of food produced is wasted every year. The problem with this is that about 21,000 people die per day from starvation, but where is that food they need to live? It s rotting in the fridge, it s being used for contests to see who can eat the fastest, or it s simply been thrown away because the sun has gone down and people refuse to buy it the following day if it s not new. What s even more depressing is that most starvation deaths are of children. The first problem here is poverty. How can someone work when they re so hungry and sick? How can someone get a job they re too sick to work? It s bad enough that a child would die of starvation, but if the father or mother dies of starvation, then the whole family could die too due to the fact that there s no one to go to work. Not many people step up to help the hungry child because they have their own family to think about. An example that was stated in the reading, regards the predicament of a pacifist during a state of war. In a state of war, usually the male adults would go to the battlefield, whereas the elders and females stay and contribute within factories, medical camps, etc. However, Hare believes that, for example, If the American government, or anybody else, had a principle which required them to do that kind of thing, then this was an argument for abandoning the principle. Overall, it is apparent that the morphology of the horse changed due to environmental conditions, especially when studying the fossilized teeth, jaws, and limbs. One of the earliest horse species is known as Hyracotherium. It is believed that this species did not live on open grasslands like modern horses but instead, lived in thick, closed canopy forests. • 43. Star Of David And The Menorah s Symbols It seems that the earliest use of the symbol was in the form of a hexagram and used in many cultures for decorative purposes that continued through the Middle Ages. Around the 17th century, the star was found in Synagogue architecture in the Middle East, North Africa and Europe and was used by Christians, Hindus, and Muslims at some point in time. The symbol gained more prominence when it was chosen to appear on the flag at the First Zionist Congress in 1897. When the Zionists searched for a symbol of their movement, they picked both the Star of David and the menorah, one for their flag, and one for their national seal. The Star was also used during the Holocaust, when the Nazis made the Jews wear the yellow Star of David as a way of identifying ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even their flags were without symbolism and writing of any kind. However, the symbol is in fact known to be have been used in graphic depictions as early as the Babylonian period in Mesopotamia. For example, the Stele of Ur Namu, which dated from 2100 BC, included the Crescent Moon and Star which is believed to symbolize the goddess Ishtar (the star) and Nanna, the god of moon and wisdom (the crescent moon). Later, when the Turks conquered Constantinople (Istanbul) in 1453 CE, they adopted the city s existing flag and symbol (A History of the Crescent Moon in Islam, n.d.) but with an 8 pointed star which was a common symbol for the Virgin Mary. There is speculation that the 8 pointed star changed to the five pointed star to represent the five pillars of Islam. The use of the symbol is not accepted by all Muslims as many consider it blasphemous. Despite this, the crescent symbol is still widely associated with Islam, appearing on the flags of many Muslim countries and on mosques such as the Al Aqsa Mosque in ... • 47. The Nightmare Before Christmas At The El Capitan Theatre When I heard we were going to the The Nightmare Before Christmas at the El Capitan Theatre, I was ecstatic. This was one of my favorite childhood movies and I had not seen it in maybe 10 years. The night started with us boarding the coach bus which was playing the movie Kidnap starring Halle Berry. This was most of us on the bus seeing the movie for the first time so we were very into it. Since we are a bunch of film/TV students we easily all became instant critics of the film. Not Ms. Halle, Ms. Halle is amazing as always. It was the writing and the scenarios that she was placed in that didn t seem plausible. This made the ride over very entertaining, a bunch of students reacting and laughing to situations that are dire in the movie. We were very invested. Once we arrived at the theater, I was taken a back from how visually loud it was. All the lights and colors, it was so Hollywood. I loved it. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Before the show started there was a raffle for some cool prizes and an announcement that there are some extras to this movie throughout the theater to make us feel more immersed in the film. I m not going to lie; I was a little scared because I wasn t quite sure what that meant. Nevertheless, the movies started and the first sign of being in the movies were the jack o lanterns that were projected onto the theater walls. The movie was as every bit enjoyable as when I used to watch with my family as a child. The surprises the theater had instore like the wind blowing and ultimately the snow made the experience that much ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
