A Mercy By Toni Morrison
A Mercy by Toni Morrison is a story of a sixteen year old slave girl named Florens. The story takes
place in the late seventeenth century and explores the experiences of African American through
slavery and freedom. The novel includes characters if mixed race; Portuguese, Dutch, English, Native
American and African American who are trying to settle down in the new world. Morrison focuses on
the ravages of slavery, both physical and emotional, that plagued the time. More specifically, she
writes about the complications that arise from slavery: strained relationships between mother and
daughter, the blurred lines of community ties. The story revolves around the main character Florens
who is grieved by the thought that her mother had ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Morrison lets each of her key characters control the narrative at some point in A Mercy. Her choice
with both the treatment of time and the treatment of perspective makes it possible for her to capture
the reader s full attention and leave the reader disoriented and anxious for answers about the upcoming
events in the novel. The conflicts among the characters lay emphasis on novels structure. Morrison
writes each chapter of the book as if it is being told through the point of view of a different character
with only Florens points of view consistently repeating. The sequence of the narrative is as follows:
Florens /Jacob /Florens /Lina /Florens /Rebeka /Florens /Sorrow /Florens /Willard and Scully /Florens
/Florens Mother. The narrative structure of a Mercy is anything but a typical simple linear narrative
usually told by one narrator. The opening chapter of the novel is told by Florens point of view who is a
slave on a mission for her mistress. Florens point of view is told as her stream of conscious. This form
of first person narrative does progress in a linear fashion as Florens travels to find the blacksmith lover
who can possibly save her owner from dying of small pox. The last chapter of the novel is also written
as first person point of view by Florens Minha Mae. It is imperative that these chapters be written in
first person point of view because it makes the reader be able to be

Jewish Influence On Jerry Seinfeld
Since the creation of the television, people from all walks of life have been tuned into their favorite
shows, news channels, and entertainment. Throughout the years, popular television shows have
captured people s attention ever since. A popular comedy sitcom show, Seinfeld, created by Jerry
Seinfeld and Larry David, depicts a group of friends who live in Manhattan, and through their
characters shows the everyday life for the individuals. Seinfeld is still one of the very popular comedy
sitcoms to come out during the 90 s. The reason that sets Seinfeld apart from other television shows is
how Jerry Seinfeld included through the characters and episodes the Jewish American culture. Jerry
Seinfeld, who is a Jewish American, wrote the show to include the Jewish aspect, which was the
unheard of since The Goldbergs in the 1940 s. After all the success of the show, Jerry Seinfeld and the
show Seinfeld, had faced early criticism from executives and writers. What Jerry Seinfeld did for the
entertainment not only challenged barriers, but in fact changed television forever. Throughout this the

across of why he wanted to cancel the show after just one episode of the show. He didn t believe the

he rather have the show canceled. A show that was being recorded at the same time that Seinfeld was
being released was titled The Marshall Chronicles . The show was quickly canceled after just five
episodes for what many deemed it as too Jewish . Luckily for the show Seinfeld, it was given the
chance to continue recording episodes and would soon garner the attention that would open the door

The Importance Of Minority Rights In America
America is the number 1 nation in the world! is a common phrase we hear time and time again.
American citizens, in my opinion, have a distorted view on how awesome our country is. America was
founded on the idea of freedom at least freedom for white men at the time. While we have grown and
made bounds for the rights of minorities like African Americans, Hispanics and women; there is still
room to grow. So many of our citizens feel disenfranchised by our government and that our
implemented democracy doesn t grant them the same rights as others. This is usually a feeling felt by
those in minority groups. Many in the majority don t realize that there are these discrepancies in our
democracy because it s not something that affects them. That is one of the obstacles, many turn a blind
eye to the injustices they see within our democracy because they do not want to get involved or they
want the status quo to stay intact. The majority s desire to stay on top in our country is a huge
influence in how those in the minority then view their abilities. Many minority members feel hopeless
and that despite speaking up a power shift to equality will never be attainable. There is a profound
lack of representation of minority groups in offices of power. As discussed in this class, there have
only even been eight African American US Senators, and only two currently in the Senate now. This
lack of representation harms minority youth because when they have grand dreams of changing the

Mathematical Interview Report
For my mathematical interview I interviewed Gracie, a third grade student. She is eight years old, and
loves shopkins, makeup, and fashion. Her best friends are Olivia, Charlotte, and Ava. In Gracie s free
time she enjoys going to dance class and singing. After I learned more about her, I asked Gracie what
she was learning in math. She told me they were working on multiplication, and she was working on
her two s. Gracie then sang me her math rap, which she loved because singing is one of her favorite
hobbies. To find out about Gracie s counting abilities, I asked her the highest number she could count
to, and she said 1,000. Since I did not want to make her sit there and go from 1 to 1,000, I had her start
from 950 and go forward. She said

Rob Elliot s Ethics And Ethics
Rob Elliot s Ethics Rob Elliot, who had worked at the MGM resort international for a total of fifteen
years as Vice President accomplishing many things. He had come up with the design of the license
plate that says, Welcome to Las Vegas which is seen all around town here in Vegas. Before Rob had
come to the MGM he had worked for the government. Elliot had come to our class last week to talk
about the importance of ethics. Ethics and character are what were made up of, and why it is an
important part in the hospitality as well as the hotel industry. Who you are as a person can come along
way, not just in school but in life as well. Ethics is considered a reality check, but overall having an
experience is a key component. With ethics you must know the difference of good and bad vs. right
and wrong. Rob Elliot discussed what the Headline Rule is and its importance. The Headline Rule is
having a positive reputation of the company, and not doing something that puts the company on the
front page of a paper or headline in a negative way. People believe that being on the front page of the
news is always a positive thing, but in some cases that could not be true in the hospitality world. When
you work for a company, you represent them on the clock as well as off the clock. You must think to
yourself about your actions and what effect they might encounter at that moment or in the long run.
Rob Elliot said he believes that once your integrity is gone, you have nothing left at

Do you have a microphone/headset?: I do have a headset with a working microphone. Why do you

First reason would be to help people within the OPCraft community, this being ingame, forums,

peoples playtime on the server less enjoyable. I like to help in general i.e give items away to players

Another side to why I would like to obtain the rank is to make other Staff members job easier. With
another Helper being added to the team it would lower the workload/stress off others so they don t end
up panicking. Another reason I would like to be a Helper is to help the community grow. I have
worked on events on past gaming sites for example when I was working on an MLG Partner company.
I would arrange events with giveaways to try and bring more attention and activity to that arena as
they are called and would like to bring that over here to OPCraft. I am a very rational and reasonable
person who can make decisions even under pressure. I always make sure I make the correct decision
before making it as it s not about rushing into a ban lets say it s about getting it right the first time
around. Hopefully I can prove to the Community and Staff team that can do this with ease and to help
make the community stronger as we go further and grow. How do you think you can assist the server

The Sacramental Research Paper
The Sacramental of the Rosary Growing up in a Catholic family and attending Catholic school, my
aunt, Sister Antonella Bayer, experienced many sacraments and sacramentals throughout her life. At
school, she had the holy water fonts to make the sign of the cross when coming into class. Her home
environment consisted of praying before bed with her mother, and praying the litanies with her father
during Forty Hours and Holy Week services. As she grew up, she absolutely connected with one
sacramental in general which was the rosary. As a result of numerous experiences with her family and
the Holy Trinity, Sister Antonella Bayer s favorite sacramental is the rosary. Sister Antonella Bayer s
origins of the sacramental began when she was in grade school. She took part in a living rosary during
the May crowning at St. Catherine s Hospital in Garden City, Kansas. In this living rosary, the children
wore beautiful spring dresses while they were the beads of the rosary. When their turn came, they

The real presence, or really real of God is evident in each and every person in some way, shape, or
form. Sacramentals bring us closer to God in our own way and as we said in class, Receive what you
are, and become more and more what you are. The more we bring God into our lives, the more we will
be like God in our life. The presence of God will be different for everyone, for everyone experiences
conditions differently, but it is through these experiences that build us into what God wants for us. In
these experiences, we all have Key Experiences, such as the death of Sister Antonella Bayer s parents
that shape us the greatest. Even when the experiences aren t the best God is still present in order to
bring us up and to help us keep going. They are what bring the presence of God in our life just as the

Texas State Historical Association Case Study
History The Texas State Historical Association affirms that the city of Austin was established in 1839
as the Republic of Texas and was named after its founder Stephen F. Austin (Humphrey, 2010). Head
surveyor Edwin Waller was appointed to plan and construct Austin. Their intent was to have the city
ready by the time the Texas congress assembled in November 1839 so they built temporary
government buildings at temporary locations (Humphrey, 2010). By October government offices
opened, the first church was organized, and the Austin City Gazette, the city s first newspaper, made
its debut. In January of 1840, Waller was elected the town s first mayor. By that time, the city had 856
inhabitants, including 145 slaves (Humphrey, 2010). Initially ... Show more content on

Childhood Development Through Active And Participatory...
Childhood can be explained as an early stage of life in which there is the existence of development
through active and participatory socialization. The stage of childhood only began to exist post
fifteenth and sixteenth century; children used to be considered miniature adults (James, p. 16). Once
children were removed from the adulthood designation, the attitudes of parents also began to change;
they began coddling their children. Prior to the fifteenth century, children were expected to perform
hard labour. As formal education grew in popularity within society, it added an extra component to the
socialization of children. In the book Constructing and Reconstructing Childhood, (2004, p.13)
Shildkrout concludes that in the traditional approach of socialization, child culture is seen as a
rehearsal for adult life and socialization consists of the process through which, by one method or
another, children are made to conform, in cases of successful socializations or become deviants in
cases of failed socialization . This brings forth the ideology that children develop and are socialized on
a universal spectrum that has only successful or deviant outcomes. Although there are advantages of
recognizing the importance of the traditional approach on childhood socialization, it is vital to use the
childhood perspective to gain a complete understanding of the socialization of children. The childhood
perspective on socialization is an approach that is strictly understood from

Avoiding A Future Of Crippling Car Congestion
AVOIDING A FUTURE OF CRIPPLING CAR CONGESTION
Bill Ford, the chairman of Ford Motors, spoke at the 2012 Mobile world congress where he outlined a
plan for connected cars to help avoid traffic congestion. Connected cars he explained are vehicles
linked to various mobile networks and intelligent systems and capable of M2M communication
(Efraim Turban, 2013). During his address in Barcelona, Ford explained to the delegates that the
number of cars on the world s roads is forecasted to grow from 1 billion now to up to 4 billion in the
next few years and The proposed solution to avoid the potential problem of a global gridlock due to
overcrowded road network is to create a global transportation network that utilizes communication

There should a drive to make cars talk to each other outside the same brand. They need to be
interconnected and they can t discriminate based on model. We need standardization while providing
competitive advantages of one brand over another, because at the end of the day this is what will

industry will be able to solve the mobility issue alone and the speed at which solutions take hold will
be determined largely by customer acceptance of new technologies. This blueprint sets short and long

second line, that has been stretched out to be longer. I ran this coin conservation test with my mentees,

Ethics Paper on Facebook Beacon
Abstract Facebook began in February 2004. It was founded by Mark Zuckerberg and his collegiate
comrades at Harvard University. Rapidly expanding, Facebook s exponential growth led to its
membership growing to over one billion users, as of September 2012. One would imagine that with
such growth would come more opportunities for challenges to arise: one of these challenges being
users and their rights to privacy. As part of Facebook s advertising system, their primary means of
generating revenue, Beacon sent data from other companies and websites to Facebook. Following a
lawsuit, Beacon then changed to accommodate these requests. On December 5, 2007, Facebook
declared it would allow users to choose not to participate in Beacon in ... Show more content on

With a plethora of free social media sites available to the public, Facebook would risk losing a vast
amount of membership and, thus, lose money. The second option Facebook had was to completely get
rid of the Beacon feature. If they chose this option, they would likely have to find a new way to
compensate for the revenue that would be lost by doing so. Remember, the main way Facebook was
able to keep its services free to users, was to generate revenue through advertisements. In deleting the
Beacon feature, Facebook would have to charge on one end: through users or advertisers. Either way,
it would be a large amount of revenue that would have to be compensated for in the short time it
would take to get rid of the Beacon feature. The last choice Facebook had would be to modify the
Beacon feature to accommodate the requests of those who felt it violated their privacy. Doing so
would be an attempt to balance the needs of the Facebook Company as well as the users who felt they
needed a greater sense of privacy when dealing with the Beacon feature. Appropriate Standards If the
Facebook Company was to use the various ethical approaches to determine which option was best in
determining how to solve their issue, one option would prove most logical. Under the utilitarian
approach, choosing to keep the Beacon feature would not be the best decision to make. Under the
utilitarian approach,

It is for that reason that the attachment and care giving systems are at the heart of that crucial first
relationship.
Attachment theory is the key to understanding relational patterns (Kahn 1991). Mary Ainsworth(???)
states that the whole bases of a successful childhood should come from curiosity, questioning and
explorations. Infants are inevitability closely attached to their parents.
Attachment theory was developed by John Bowlby during his observation of evacuated children
during World War II and it describes the dynamics of long term relationships. Its most important tenet
is that an infant needs to develop a healthy relationship with at least one primary caregiver for social
and emotional development to occur normally and that further relationships are built on the patterns
developed in the earliest relationship (Bowlby 1988).
A healthy attachment leads a happy, secure base for a child (Holmes 1993). Positive attachment occurs
where the parents are consistently attentive to the needs of the child and provide a secure base from
which the child can confidently explore the world and it s surrounding (Bowlby 1988).
Inevitably, a worried child with problems will complain and distanced (Bowlby 1988). This pattern
reinforces itself and will continue into the next generation (Bowlby 1989).

Modernization and Dependency Theory
Modernization and Dependency theory
Nowadays the rapid development of the word and the growing integration of countries can hardly fail
to affect the development of new theories which attempt to explain the relationship between countries
and the existing inequality between developed countries and countries of the third world. In this
respect, it is possible to refer to Modernization theory and Dependency theory which, being quite
different, still have certain similarities in their views on the modern world and relationships between
developed and developing countries.
It is worthy of mention that the comparison of these theories will help better understand the current

In fact, differences between Modernization theory and Dependency theory result from the origin of
Dependency theory which, as it has been already mentioned above, was developed in response to
Modernization theory. On analyzing existing differences between the two theories, first of all, it is
necessary to underline that Modernization theory views the development of the world and
relationships between developed and developing countries as the relationships of potentially equal
countries which are just at a different stage of development at the moment. To put it more precisely,
Modernization theory stands on the ground that western countries are well developed and western way
of development is viewed as the most successful and perspective while there is practically no other
alternatives to this way of the development. This is why the supporters of this theory insist on the
necessity to develop the cooperation between developed and developing countries in order to make the
latter closer to the former. What is meant here is the fact that Modernization theory underlines the
necessity of borrowing the experience of western countries by developing countries of the Third world
(Scott 196). Basically, developing countries should follow blindly the example of more developed
western countries and this will bring them economic, social, and

Balance Sheet and Cookie Creations
Continuing Cookie Chronicle
CCC1 Natalie Koebel spent much of her childhood learning the art of cookie making from her
grandmother. They passed many happy hours mastering every type of cookie imaginable and later
creating new recipes that were both healthy and delicious. Now at the start of her second year in
college, Natalie is investigating various possibilities for starting her own business as part of the
requirements of the entrepreneurship program in which she is enrolled.
A long time friend insists that Natalie has to somehow include cookies in her business plan. After a
series of brainstorming sessions, Natalie settles on the idea of operating a cookie making school. She

Natalie, too, would like to know if the company has been profitable or not during November. Natalie
realizes that in order to determine Cookie Creations income, she must first make adjustments. Natalie
puts together the following additional information. 1. A count reveals that $35 of baking supplies were
used during November. 2. Natalie estimates that all of her baking equipment will have a useful life of
5 years or 60 months and no salvage value. (Assume Natalie decides to record a full month s worth of
depreciation, regardless of when the equipment was obtained by the business.) 3. Natalie s
grandmother has decided to charge interest of 6% on the note payable extended on November 16. The
loan plus interest is to be repaid in 24 months. (Assume that half a month of interest accrued during
November.) 4. On November 30, a friend of Natalie s asks her to teach a class at the neighborhood
school. Natalie agrees and teaches a group of 35 first grade students how to make Santa Claus cookies.
The next day, Natalie prepares an invoice for $300 and leaves it with the school principal. The
principal says that he will pass the invoice along to the head office, and it will be paid sometime in
December. 5. Natalie receives a utilities bill for $45. The bill is for utilities consumed by Natalie s
business during November and is due December 15. Instructions Using the information

The Definition Of Theatre In The 18th And 19th Century
The word Theatre originates from the Greek word theatron, which means seeing place, therefore
describing theatre as a place where you go see things. There are 2 types of definitions for Theatre; the
hardware and the software . The hardware being definitions like indicating where films are shown or
metaphorically refers to a place where wars and surgeries occur like theatre of operations The
software definition of theatre describes the activity involved in theatre like the group of people that
compose plays.
The theatre building used to be small open spaces where the people performed and spectators
watched. As it grew in popularity, theatres needed to be remodeled and made big enough to sit
everyone. The audience would be located would be in an elevated area and the actors below. Roman
theatres were elaborate and embellished with marble carvings and gilded columns. Theaters built in
the 18th and 19th century are still open and operating today. Theatres are fundamental to urban
architecture as well as to contemporary life. Theatre involves a very large group of people working
together on a single performance. These groups can be called companies or troupes that tour cities to
present a play. These companies are self contained production units capable of writing, preparing and
presenting works to a point where some have become legendary, like the Lord Chamberlain s Men of
London, which Shakespeare was a part of.
Theatre is also the occupation of its practitioners.

A Concrete Human Existence, And The Conditions Of Such...
Juan Linares
Mr. Maust
English IV AP

Thematic Project Outline
Introduction
Thesis.
Existentialists focus on the question that is a concrete human existence, and the conditions of such
existence; they do not dwell on a hypothesis for human essence, instead they stress that this essence is
determined by an individual s own life choices. Although humans live in the world, a distance is
created in order to add meaning to the disinterested world; however, this meaning is fragile and can be
disturbed by tragedy or insight. When this disturbance occurs, and human s precarious lives crumble,
the true nature of the world is revealed; a nature that shows little importance for humans; this way of
thinking created the, post WWII era, worldwide explosion of ambiguous literature, and the sensory
perception of art and music; heavily influenced by the idea of human worthlessness.
Literature Existentialism, though it had been present since the 19th century, came of age in the mid
20th Century. This was largely through the scholarly and fictional works of the French existentialists,
Jean Paul Sartre, Albert Camus and Simone de Beauvoir. The heavily influenced post WWII
movement spurred up a whole new way of thinking. Sartre made the movement popular in that he
defined Existentialism and wrote many works solely centered on his views.
Simone de Beauvoir An important existentialist who spent much of her life alongside Sartre, wrote
about feminism, and existential ethics

Small Gossip Essay
Hypothesis 1: Gossip can positively change employee s and employer s perception on each other and
enhance teamwork.
Gossip can have positive effect on teamwork because it can increase positive feedback from
employees and also set up some norms in the office by shaping up employees perception on their co
workers, especially their bosses. After the forming of a new working group, gossip about their boss
usually comes around. For example, the gossip of an outstanding and serious boss enjoys watching TV
episode is circulated in an office among the employees. Employees who have the same interest as the
boss could have common topics to socialize with the boss, increasing communication could help
capture the characteristic of each other. As these gossips are irrelevant to ... Show more content on

In these two examples, small gossip enables employees to build up an aggressive and humane
perception on the managers whom they had never met before, making the managers more
approachable and providing some valuable and critical feedback. With the suggestion from the
employees, managers can pay further attention to improve their work while employees will feel more
willing to be the subordinates and make affective commitment in the team. All of these can probably
enhance employee s perception of their bosses and a better relationship of them would be expected.
With a better relationship, they will be more willing to work with each others and it will benefit
teamwork in the office. Without these gap narrowing gossip, boss would be a brilliant and cold figure,
leaving the employees unwilling to communicate with him. Particularly, in the culture with low
uncertainty avoidance, these could lead to some potential miscommunication and suppress timely, but
needed, feedback (Bolino, et al., 2002), which could let the harmful effects of mismanagement
accumulate and damage the team dynamics.

The Tao Te Ching, By Lao Tzu
The Tao Te Ching is a 81 chapter book written by Lao Tzu. It s wisdom is entirely immortal and
focuses mostly on the theology of Taoism and explaining how Tao is part of our lives and how we as
people can become part of the Tao. In the 81st chapter of the book, Lao Tzu describes to us a village
of people and how they live their lives. In my analysis of this chapter I have come to agree with Lao
Tzu in that this is the way that enlightened people live their lives and that living any other way than
this will only lead to conflict A small country has fewer people.Though there are machines that can
work ten to a hundred times faster than man, they are not needed. The people take death seriously and

That everything that is written in that quote is the only things necessary for us to survive and that our
lives will be better without all of the extra parts and all of the trumpery. I can t really say that he is
wrong. All of that extra stuff seems to lead to conflict. When you have a nice car, other people want
your car and sometimes they will hurt you and steal your car so that they can be happy because they
now have that car and now other people will be impressed that they have that car. You want to make
more money so that you can buy nice things for yourself because you want to impress others and
make yourself feel better from that. When you have a nice house it leads people to want that house and
the things in the house and your life will be filled with conflict. You will live more happily knowing
that you have only what you need and that the people around you care but will not intrude in the life
you live, and that once you find a place where it is possible to get only what you need that you will
forever be happy. The body is designed to survive and when you force it to do more than is necessary
to survive, it becomes discontented with the way it lives and it requires more to make it happier and
that you will have to get more and more until there is nothing left

Prisoners Receiving Transplants
As the prison population in America grows in numbers and increases in age, questions and debates
about the allocation of medical resources to prisoners will grow in urgency. One issue which arises
every so often is whether convicted felons, especially those who are awaiting capital punishment,
should receive the same level of medical care as others in society including scarce donor organs for
the purpose of transplantation. As is often the case, the debate over whether a death row inmate should
receive an organ transplant is not a single controversy, but rather several rolled into one. Being able to
address the larger question requires disentangling the smaller questions and examining each in turn.
What role, if any, should a person s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This represents an important shift because it eliminates many of the potential problems and dangers
inherent in assessing the social and moral worth of other human beings. There is a long recognized
legal principle that while people who are not members of a community may deserve certain basic
rights and privileges, they do not necessarily deserve all of the rights and privileges accorded to
members. Thus, non members have rights to life, liberty, free speech, etc., but they do not have the
right to vote.
There is very little debate over whether this principle is valid in general, but there is quite a bit of
debate over just what qualifies as basic, minimum rights and privileges which everyone should have,
regardless of their membership or citizenship status. This is especially true when it comes to health
care because there is such a wide range of possible treatments available to people.
Should prisoners receive only the very minimum necessary to keep them comfortable? Should
expensive diagnostic and treatment options be made available to them? Where exactly should the line
be drawn? If a prisoner does receive a lower standard of medical treatment and is later found to be
innocent, what sort of responsibility do the state and society bear if he now leaves prison sicker than
when he entered? Most people

The character that is stereotyped is known as Apu. For long periods, the viewers and writers did not
know that he was not a real figure but rather a stereotyped character. His main role is to provoke a
laugh from the jokes. Considerately, people argue that the reason why it was difficult to identify the
character as figurative or not is because all the details are filtered using a white lens. The actor whose
voice is used to represent that of Apu is also a white man and a large part of the writers of The
Simpsons that depicts a significant contribution to The Front episode and comprises of the whites
hence that would be another reason for the constraints in identification of the stereotyped character. In
essence, the voice is an impression of a white guy who seems to make fun of a father (Singh, 2014).
The use of Apu as a stereotype expresses the manner in which two different cultures can come
together and engage in particular processes. Ideally, this is seen in the sense that the character is an
Indian having descendent from the southern region of Asia. Through this, it would also be easy to
depict the varying cultural practices and experiences across different communities. Therefore, the
problems that affect them within the society would be established

The mnemonic methods are usually used with long term memory because it is meant to store the
information for later retrieval. For example, if one needs to learn information for an upcoming test one
will prepare or try to relate the information so one can store the information and later use that
information when it is time for the test. The first memory strategy being discussed is going to be

Psychosocial Autobiography
Autobiography I was born on February 2, 1995. My parents were young when they had me, my mom
was 20 and my dad was 23. I was not breast fed because my mother went back to work very soon after
I was born. Though I had a fairly normal upbringing, my parents worked quite a bit. Three days a
week I would go to my grandmother s house while my parents were working. When I got older I went
to preschool two days a week. After entering kindergarten I started to have trouble making friends. I
was painfully shy and did not know how to make friends. After a few weeks I finally made a few
friends and throughout elementary school I had several different groups of friends. Most of which I do
not talk to anymore. I had issues with sucking my thumb and scratching my nose until I was seven
when I was finally able to break free of the habit When I was eight years old my mother had a nervous
breakdown and was subsequently diagnosed with obsessive compulsive disorder. She had always been
hard on me but I never understood why until I got older. While my mother was dealing with her issues
I became extremely independent. While she and my dad were still around when I was alone with my

2.1 MARKET SITUATION
Market Segments:
Restaurant is not a place, which can be assigned to any one category of market, but to be more
efficient in directing the resources to the right target market, for this we have done market
segmentation. According to the given statistical data, we can easily understand why children were
chosen to be the target market:
Between 5 10 years 75% Between 11 18 years 88% Between 19 25 years 28% Between 26 40 years
45% Between 41 onwards 14%
The result of the analysis states that the age group of 5 18 is the best target segment to be focused. The
rest of them are some how related to the above two fields and can be influenced by their demands to
come to the restaurant.
Geographic Segments:
Here we subdivide markets into segments based on geographic distribution the regions, counties, cities
and towns where people live and work. This can be taken out by taking into consideration:
a) Regional population distribution
b) Urban, suburbs and rural distribution

Today, in current business world, fraud becomes a daily occurrence and it is a serious threat for all
organizations, whether they are partnerships, corporations, limited liability companies or even non
profit companies. Once perpetrators start to commit fraud, they will not stop by themselves, they will
continue and commit more with the bigger number as they realize how easy it is. Therefore, fraud
prevention program is very important for organizations since once a fraud has occurred then they will
need a big effort to deal with it. The organizations will not only lose assets but they will lose time,
legal fee, fraud investigator, negative publicity and other adverse consequences.
Fraud occurred in the Midwest Orient Import Export Corporation because there was no proper internal

Figurative Language In The Open Window
In The Open Window by Hector Hugh Munro (also known as Saki), it is evident that Munro is trying

fifteen year old, Vera, who frightens a man, Mr. Nuttel, with a deliberate lie about her uncle, Mr.
Sappleton, and his two brothers in law drowning in a bog. The objective of this narrative is to display
dishonesty and what appears to be, opposed to reality, in underlying forms of figurative language. The
amount of figurative language in this story by Saki, is what makes it as interesting as it is. Saki uses
imagery to create an eerie feeling as the hunting party of Vera s uncle returns through the open

Positioning relates to strategy, in the specific or tactical development phases of carrying out an
objective to achieve a business or organization s goals, such as increasing sales volume, brand

Electromagnetics Ruined Britain
In order to properly talk about radar, or Radio Detection and Ranging as it was once called, we must
first look at the history of radio waves and how eating carrots saved Britain. During the late years of
the 19th century, many advances were being made in the field of electromagnetism. James Maxwell,
among his many discoveries, stated that electromagnetic waves produced through oscillating charges
could propagate through space at the speed of light. Heinrich Hertz managed to prove this hypothesis
in 1887 in his famous radio experiment. Shortly after arriving in Karlsruhe, Hertz found some large
induction coils that could produce a pulsed high voltage and a pair of spark micrometers with brass
knobs forming an adjustable spark gap, which he hoped could be used to transmit electromagnetic
waves as predicted by Maxwell. With a battery and an interrupter attached to the primary coil, he
could obtain a pulsed high voltage across a secondary coil. He then invented a high frequency
oscillating antenna by forming a dipole with two metal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, a new technology was developed which provided enough warning time to deploy a
counterattack, the RADAR. Thanks to this the allies were able to know not only the direction of an
aircraft, but also the raid count, altitude and speed. With this the allies were able to win the Battle of
Britain (2). Immediately following this victory, the allies began research into developing electric
warfare to counteract technological advances by the Germans. After gathering enough intelligence on
the German antiaircraft radar and their communication, the allies began using chaffs, and airborne
jammers in order to suppress German air defenses (2). Like it s always the case with warfare
technology, ways were devised for counteracting the enemy s radar. These techniques can be divided

`` Richard Trenton Chase ``
Richard Trenton Chase, unlike regular children had a very abusive childhood. Raised by a very
controlling father who did not get along with his mentally ill wife and always misdirected his anger
toward Richard and his sister with physical abuse (Dennison, Victoria, 2009). As a child at age 10
Richard became extremely fascinated with fire and mutilating cats. Later throughout his teenage years
he began heavily drinking and smoking. This soon led up to his hectic early adulthood when he was
then diagnosed as a paranoid schizophrenic who suffered from somatic delusions. (Ramsland,
Katherine). According to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, paranoid
schizophrenia, is the presence of prominent delusions or auditory hallucinations in the context of
relative preservation of cognitive functioning and affect (APA, 1994 p.287). Since this subtype of
schizophrenia affects the cognitive portion of the brain that perceives things, in this person, it causes
him to also suffer from somatic delusions. This is a type of delusion that relates to the functions,
sensations, and physical appearance of the body, causing the person to believe that their body is
diseased or abnormal (APA, 2000). As a child it was thought that Richard had suffered from a mental
illness, but he was not committed. Although on the outside looking in, it looked as if he was the
average child since he did graduate high school, but no one knew the darkness that was kept hidden.

How Data Is Important Factor For Business Decisions
Today, our society is bombarded by data driven business society. Data are facts and statistics collected

It can even be used to differentiate things and find their similarities. Data is basically a tool for
research purposes. Data became one of the prominent assets of the today s business industry. From the
traditional manual surveys and online surveys up to different types of data gathering methods, big
companies are spending millions and millions of dollars just to improve their business through the use
of data. Data became such ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That is when gathering data comes in to disrupt that unwise business decision and help managers
make better decisions based on the data they gathered. One example of how data is used to help
manage an organization is how energy drink company determined which type of people should they
focused on targeting for their products. A manager can determined who usually drinks their product by
doing surveys. Of course, most of people would assume that people who play sports are the ones they
should be focused on, but how about the others like people who late overnight like security guards and
call center agents; college students who do their homework late at night; people working on a 24 hour
retail store or just workaholic guy who stays overnight working on his business presentation. Market
segmentation is very important for businesses and data plays a big role on how they can determine
their potential consumers. They are potential target, although not as big as athletes, but no one knows
their estimate number unless we do some research and that is when data gathering methods like
surveys kicks in. The manager can form a group of survey makers to do some surveys to determine
which type people, age, gender, race and occupation drinks energy drinks. After they gathered the data
and laid down the details and convert it to a business language, the manager could determine the

Lotus World Music Festival Case Study
Lotus World Music Arts Festival Case Study In early November, the world renowned cellist Yo Yo Ma
came to Bloomington and performed at the IU Auditorium. I have heard his music through many of
his recordings and was not only touched by his music but also admired all his musically experiments
that helped us understand more about different cultural music. However, I never got the chance to
attend his live performances before, so when I knew he would come here and perform, I bought his
concert tickets as soon as possible. I think that is the magic and power of live performances. No matter
how many times you have heard that song before, you still want to experience more about it. Live
performances give us the feeling that we are interacting with the musicians and sharing the story ...

From 1999 to 2009, concert ticket sales in the U.S. tripled from $1.5 billion to $4.6 billion, vastly
exceeding the growth of inflation and population growth (Lee, n.p.). It is obvious that the demand of
live performances keeps increasing and as Billboard stated 32 million people go to at least one U.S.
music festival every year (Lynch, n.p.). As an important part of the live performances, music festivals
are gaining the popularities world widely and people are willing to enjoy their leisure with friends and
families at music festivals. I went to several different kinds of music festivals at both China and
United States, and they were all great experiences. According to Timeout.com, among the list they
provided for 50 best music festivals around the world, there are 10 of them are music festivals taking
place at U.S. (Curle, n.p.). From those statistics, it is not hard to find out that music festivals are
popular at U.S. and when you look at those music festivals, they are varies at geographic and genres as
well. So I think it is optimistic to say that music festivals open another way for people to enjoy the
music and enjoy the social

A Brief History of the Life of Anne Boleyn, An Outline Essay
Anne Boleyn: A Brief History
Specific Purpose: To inform my audience about the life of Anne Boleyn and the impact she had on the
English monarchy.
Introduction I. Attention Getter: I am come hither to accuse no man, nor to speak anything of that,
whereof I am accused and condemned to die, but I pray God save the king and send him long to reign
over you, for a gentler nor a more merciful prince was there never: and to me he was ever a good, a
gentle and sovereign lord. (Anne Boleyn Bio, 2013) II. Credibility Statement: A growing interest in
the development of the Tudor family led me to research some information on my own, and when I
came across Anne Boleyn s story I knew that I had to share what I had uncovered. III. Relating ...

annulment from his wife Catherine; by 1528 Anne Boleyn had made her entrance in to English royal
society. (Eakins, 1994)
Transition: Anne s joy in making progress towards the throne would be short lived because death
would be the outcome of her reign as Henry s queen. Main Idea II: In 1532 Anne was officially made
the queen when her belly swelled with the life of Henry s child, but when Elizabeth was born it
became Anne s sole duty, and Henry s obsession, for her to birth a male heir. (Eakins, 1994) A. It was
Anne s responsibility to have a son, and she took this job very seriously as there were grave
consequences if she did not provide Henry with what he desired most. a. By January of 1534 Anne
was pregnant again, but she miscarried or birthed a stillborn. (Eakins, 1994) b. In 1536 Anne became
pregnant again, with a son, but by the end of January she had miscarried again. (Anne Boleyn Bio,
2013) B. After birthing an unwanted daughter, and suffering through two miscarriages, Anne Boleyn s
life was now at risk because her husband was about to take care of his own legacy. (Anne Boleyn Bio,

Losing It At Seventeen Summary
I arrive at work past eight thirty. By ten o clock, I ve read, Losing It at Seventeen. I delighted in the
story of a nerd who finally gets the girl. Though, the material needs work. Still, I put it aside in the
maybe stack on my desk. The remainder of the day will be a piece of cake. I skip lunch to meet with
Betsy, the B.A. lawyer, Thom argued with at the staff meeting. She wants to discuss a writer that
Sarah dealt with who started a rewrite before his contract had been signed off on by both parties. I
agree to speak with her, but would rather not get in between the dispute she had with Thom. Why don
t you check with Sarah? I begin with, Since, I ve never met the writer or spoken to his agent. I m
aware of that, she emphasizes. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thom injects that our meeting with Doug went well. And that B.A. is working on the contract ASAP,
so he can begin the rewrite. The remainder of the meeting I go over Sarah s numerous projects in
various stages of development. Despite Thom cutting some, there are others in the pipeline I ve taken
a look at, and add. I m not sure how to proceed with them. With that, the meeting concludes. On my
way out, Thom takes me aside, and says, Let s discuss those projects in limbo. Keri will schedule a
time for us to

Hispanic Heritage Month Research Paper
Hispanic Heritage Month celebrates the Latino contribution, and also lets us recognize that America s
cultural diversity, and the contributions of all its citizens, have made our fabric strong throughout
history. Latinos have prominently participated in building the West, in entertainment, business,
education, civil rights, politics, and in our great American pastime of baseball. There are also a large
number of magazines, newspapers, radio stations and other media outlets directed specifically towards
the Latino market, confirming that this group provides a major influence on our culture. America s
cultural history would not be the same without the Cuban vibe in South Florida or the Puerto Rican,

  • 2. A Mercy By Toni Morrison A Mercy by Toni Morrison is a story of a sixteen year old slave girl named Florens. The story takes place in the late seventeenth century and explores the experiences of African American through slavery and freedom. The novel includes characters if mixed race; Portuguese, Dutch, English, Native American and African American who are trying to settle down in the new world. Morrison focuses on the ravages of slavery, both physical and emotional, that plagued the time. More specifically, she writes about the complications that arise from slavery: strained relationships between mother and daughter, the blurred lines of community ties. The story revolves around the main character Florens who is grieved by the thought that her mother had ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Morrison lets each of her key characters control the narrative at some point in A Mercy. Her choice with both the treatment of time and the treatment of perspective makes it possible for her to capture the reader s full attention and leave the reader disoriented and anxious for answers about the upcoming events in the novel. The conflicts among the characters lay emphasis on novels structure. Morrison writes each chapter of the book as if it is being told through the point of view of a different character with only Florens points of view consistently repeating. The sequence of the narrative is as follows: Florens /Jacob /Florens /Lina /Florens /Rebeka /Florens /Sorrow /Florens /Willard and Scully /Florens /Florens Mother. The narrative structure of a Mercy is anything but a typical simple linear narrative usually told by one narrator. The opening chapter of the novel is told by Florens point of view who is a slave on a mission for her mistress. Florens point of view is told as her stream of conscious. This form of first person narrative does progress in a linear fashion as Florens travels to find the blacksmith lover who can possibly save her owner from dying of small pox. • 3. Jewish Influence On Jerry Seinfeld Since the creation of the television, people from all walks of life have been tuned into their favorite shows, news channels, and entertainment. Throughout the years, popular television shows have captured people s attention ever since. A popular comedy sitcom show, Seinfeld, created by Jerry Seinfeld and Larry David, depicts a group of friends who live in Manhattan, and through their characters shows the everyday life for the individuals. Seinfeld is still one of the very popular comedy sitcoms to come out during the 90 s. The reason that sets Seinfeld apart from other television shows is how Jerry Seinfeld included through the characters and episodes the Jewish American culture. Jerry Seinfeld, who is a Jewish American, wrote the show to include the Jewish aspect, which was the unheard of since The Goldbergs in the 1940 s. After all the success of the show, Jerry Seinfeld and the show Seinfeld, had faced early criticism from executives and writers. • 4. The Importance Of Minority Rights In America America is the number 1 nation in the world! is a common phrase we hear time and time again. American citizens, in my opinion, have a distorted view on how awesome our country is. America was founded on the idea of freedom at least freedom for white men at the time. While we have grown and made bounds for the rights of minorities like African Americans, Hispanics and women; there is still room to grow. So many of our citizens feel disenfranchised by our government and that our implemented democracy doesn t grant them the same rights as others. This is usually a feeling felt by those in minority groups. Many in the majority don t realize that there are these discrepancies in our democracy because it s not something that affects them. That is one of the obstacles, many turn a blind eye to the injustices they see within our democracy because they do not want to get involved or they want the status quo to stay intact. The majority s desire to stay on top in our country is a huge influence in how those in the minority then view their abilities. Many minority members feel hopeless and that despite speaking up a power shift to equality will never be attainable. There is a profound lack of representation of minority groups in offices of power. As discussed in this class, there have only even been eight African American US Senators, and only two currently in the Senate now. This lack of representation harms minority youth because when they have grand dreams of changing the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Ethics and character are what were made up of, and why it is an important part in the hospitality as well as the hotel industry. Who you are as a person can come along way, not just in school but in life as well. Ethics is considered a reality check, but overall having an experience is a key component. With ethics you must know the difference of good and bad vs. right and wrong. Rob Elliot discussed what the Headline Rule is and its importance. The Headline Rule is having a positive reputation of the company, and not doing something that puts the company on the front page of a paper or headline in a negative way. People believe that being on the front page of the news is always a positive thing, but in some cases that could not be true in the hospitality world. When you work for a company, you represent them on the clock as well as off the clock. The Sacramental Research Paper The Sacramental of the Rosary Growing up in a Catholic family and attending Catholic school, my aunt, Sister Antonella Bayer, experienced many sacraments and sacramentals throughout her life. At school, she had the holy water fonts to make the sign of the cross when coming into class. Her home environment consisted of praying before bed with her mother, and praying the litanies with her father during Forty Hours and Holy Week services. As she grew up, she absolutely connected with one sacramental in general which was the rosary. As a result of numerous experiences with her family and the Holy Trinity, Sister Antonella Bayer s favorite sacramental is the rosary. • 10. Childhood Development Through Active And Participatory... Childhood can be explained as an early stage of life in which there is the existence of development through active and participatory socialization. The stage of childhood only began to exist post fifteenth and sixteenth century; children used to be considered miniature adults (James, p. 16). Once children were removed from the adulthood designation, the attitudes of parents also began to change; they began coddling their children. Prior to the fifteenth century, children were expected to perform hard labour. As formal education grew in popularity within society, it added an extra component to the socialization of children. In the book Constructing and Reconstructing Childhood, (2004, p.13) Shildkrout concludes that in the traditional approach of socialization, child culture is seen as a rehearsal for adult life and socialization consists of the process through which, by one method or another, children are made to conform, in cases of successful socializations or become deviants in cases of failed socialization . This brings forth the ideology that children develop and are socialized on a universal spectrum that has only successful or deviant outcomes. Although there are advantages of recognizing the importance of the traditional approach on childhood socialization, it is vital to use the childhood perspective to gain a complete understanding of the socialization of children. Rapidly expanding, Facebook s exponential growth led to its membership growing to over one billion users, as of September 2012. One would imagine that with such growth would come more opportunities for challenges to arise: one of these challenges being users and their rights to privacy. As part of Facebook s advertising system, their primary means of generating revenue, Beacon sent data from other companies and websites to Facebook. The second option Facebook had was to completely get rid of the Beacon feature. If they chose this option, they would likely have to find a new way to compensate for the revenue that would be lost by doing so. Remember, the main way Facebook was able to keep its services free to users, was to generate revenue through advertisements. In deleting the Beacon feature, Facebook would have to charge on one end: through users or advertisers. Either way, it would be a large amount of revenue that would have to be compensated for in the short time it would take to get rid of the Beacon feature. The last choice Facebook had would be to modify the Beacon feature to accommodate the requests of those who felt it violated their privacy. Doing so would be an attempt to balance the needs of the Facebook Company as well as the users who felt they needed a greater sense of privacy when dealing with the Beacon feature. Attachment theory was developed by John Bowlby during his observation of evacuated children during World War II and it describes the dynamics of long term relationships. • 23. A Concrete Human Existence, And The Conditions Of Such... Juan Linares Mr. Maust English IV AP 26 September 2015 Thematic Project Outline Introduction Thesis. Existentialists focus on the question that is a concrete human existence, and the conditions of such existence; they do not dwell on a hypothesis for human essence, instead they stress that this essence is determined by an individual s own life choices. Although humans live in the world, a distance is created in order to add meaning to the disinterested world; however, this meaning is fragile and can be disturbed by tragedy or insight. When this disturbance occurs, and human s precarious lives crumble, the true nature of the world is revealed; a nature that shows little importance for humans; this way of thinking created the, post WWII era, worldwide explosion of ambiguous literature, and the sensory perception of art and music; heavily influenced by the idea of human worthlessness. Literature Existentialism, though it had been present since the 19th century, came of age in the mid 20th Century. This was largely through the scholarly and fictional works of the French existentialists, Jean Paul Sartre, Albert Camus and Simone de Beauvoir. The heavily influenced post WWII movement spurred up a whole new way of thinking. Sartre made the movement popular in that he defined Existentialism and wrote many works solely centered on his views. Gossip can have positive effect on teamwork because it can increase positive feedback from employees and also set up some norms in the office by shaping up employees perception on their co workers, especially their bosses. After the forming of a new working group, gossip about their boss usually comes around. For example, the gossip of an outstanding and serious boss enjoys watching TV episode is circulated in an office among the employees. With the suggestion from the employees, managers can pay further attention to improve their work while employees will feel more willing to be the subordinates and make affective commitment in the team. All of these can probably enhance employee s perception of their bosses and a better relationship of them would be expected. With a better relationship, they will be more willing to work with each others and it will benefit teamwork in the office. Without these gap narrowing gossip, boss would be a brilliant and cold figure, leaving the employees unwilling to communicate with him. In the 81st chapter of the book, Lao Tzu describes to us a village of people and how they live their lives. In my analysis of this chapter I have come to agree with Lao Tzu in that this is the way that enlightened people live their lives and that living any other way than this will only lead to conflict A small country has fewer people.Though there are machines that can work ten to a hundred times faster than man, they are not needed. One issue which arises every so often is whether convicted felons, especially those who are awaiting capital punishment, should receive the same level of medical care as others in society including scarce donor organs for the purpose of transplantation. As is often the case, the debate over whether a death row inmate should receive an organ transplant is not a single controversy, but rather several rolled into one. This represents an important shift because it eliminates many of the potential problems and dangers inherent in assessing the social and moral worth of other human beings. There is a long recognized legal principle that while people who are not members of a community may deserve certain basic rights and privileges, they do not necessarily deserve all of the rights and privileges accorded to members. Thus, non members have rights to life, liberty, free speech, etc., but they do not have the right to vote. There is very little debate over whether this principle is valid in general, but there is quite a bit of debate over just what qualifies as basic, minimum rights and privileges which everyone should have, regardless of their membership or citizenship status. This is especially true when it comes to health care because there is such a wide range of possible treatments available to people. Should prisoners receive only the very minimum necessary to keep them comfortable? Should expensive diagnostic and treatment options be made available to them? Where exactly should the line be drawn? Shortly after arriving in Karlsruhe, Hertz found some large induction coils that could produce a pulsed high voltage and a pair of spark micrometers with brass knobs forming an adjustable spark gap, which he hoped could be used to transmit electromagnetic waves as predicted by Maxwell.
