Jack The Ripper Essay
Jack The Ripper
In August 1888, the first of a series of murders was committed by a killer who became known as Jack
the Ripper. To this day the identity of the killer remains a mystery. Five women were brutally killed in
the East End of London, by a maniac who appeared to kill without warning and with no remorse.
1)What can you learn from Source A?
Source A tells us that the two murders were aimed directly at the poorest people in East End at the
time, and usually because of the poverty at that time, the women had to revert to prostitution so this
tells us that the murderer had a great dislike for poor people or mainly prostitutes, but there was no
clear motive for him to do it. It ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Other than that they all agree in the fact that they all agree that they were very peculiar ways, and that
the killer put in an excess of effort.
3)How useful are Sources D and E…?
The evidence of Elizabeth Long, the rippers only survivor, described the man she had seen Annie
Chapman, another victim talking to prior to her death. The description is quite vague as she only
comments on what she could make out when it was dark and from far away, so it seems quite
unreliable and it doesn t tell us enough, so concentrating on this to find the Ripper would be a waste of
time. But it was an eye witness account so it would be quite useful. Source E relies on an article
published in a local newspaper, so it could be biased, and it also relies on the information of only one
informant and that could also be biased. The source was produced to inform the neighborhood about
they could be on the look out and be aware that there was a murderer loose. The article says that it is
basically the police s fault that these murders keep happening because they should have strengthened
and he went from each police station to another, but with no avail. This is saying that the police didn t
pay any attention until the first murder happened. Then the informant claimed he

Online Education Vs Traditional Education
Online Education Vs Traditional Education
In the present world, there are a lot of options for a student to choose for his education. Each and
every student learning technique are different and learn differently and in today s world of increasing
technology, the question will be whether to offer classes or take up classes online, but rather how to
implement them effectively and efficiently. Hence a student must have to weigh a huge list of pros and
cons before they choose one of the two options, since the means of education for these are different.
Students have an opportunity to plan their own study time, if they choose online classes instead of
other way round where the university will decide the class time or lecture time. Online classes can be
taken at their own pace, sitting at their own home or at any place they feel comfortable, on the
contrary students should physically attend classes as per the time prescribed by the professor, live near
to the campus. In the online classes there is more flexibility than traditional classroom because you
can do your coursework any time of the day or night without having a set schedule when you have to
do your coursework. There are so many people that are choosing to further their education by taking
online courses instead of traditional classroom because of their busy work schedules. Professors
teaching online education have set hours that they are on to answer any questions that you may have
just like they do in a traditional

Mass Shootings And Its Effect On Society
The world we live in today is corrupted with people whose motives are unethical and what some
people would call unpredictable. Today s generation is growing up in darkness where nobody can even
dream of the light. Mass shootings are happening more commonly and actions aren t being taken into
initiative. Morals, are a person s standards of behavior or beliefs concerning what is and is not
acceptable for them to do. A person with basic moral principles can see it s not acceptable for someone
to shoot up a concert, or go into a church and spray multiple rounds. Yet we have people today who
find it acceptable to go about their business this way. However, what about the people whose morals
and ethics go totally against the thought of killing? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He then heard drilling coming inside Paddocks room, and went to investigate it more thoroughly. The
worker was then hit in the right thigh, and quickly got on his radio and told the hotel he has been shot.
The people who were listening to the radio rushed to notify to police. As the shooting was going on
the police department was confused if the shots were coming from the Mandalay Bay or perhaps the
nearby Luxor hotel. Then bright flashes were seeming coming out of a room on the 32nd floor of the
Mandalay Bay. Around 10:12 p.m officers on the 31st floor heard gunfire on the floor directly above
them. 10:17 the 2 officers reached the worker that got hit in the right thigh and he directed them to
Paddocks room. Between the times of 10:26 p.m and 10:30 p.m an additional 8 officers arrived in
front of Paddocks room but the door was not breached until 11:20. They found that the shooter had
shot himself and at 11:27 a call was made to dispatch confirming the death of the shooter.
With no clear motive Stephan Paddock shot up a festival killing multiple people. This shocked the
entire world that someone of no motive could of done something as devastating at this. The moral
principles associated with mass shooting belong in a category of its own. From a Hindu perspective

Persuasive Sex Education
Young students globally have been engaged in sex since the start of time, yet our society fails to
provide the youth with the curriculum and resources needed to make healthy and smart decisions
related to sex. 28 out 50 states do not require sex education in public schools, however, the United
States has the highest rate of teen pregnancy compared to any other country. Sex education should be
taught in public schools in order to inform students on the consequences of sexual intercourse as well
as making educated decisions on sex. In today s day and age, teenagers are sexually active even
though may not be mentally, emotionally, or financially prepared for the consequences of their actions.
Students who are uneducated on sex and what it entails, need to know about the risks and health
disparites it can cause. According to Amy S. Hedman PH.D, a professor at Minnesota State University,
and author of American Journal of Health Studies claims that, sexually transmitted diseases are one of
the most common consequences of unprotected sex and one in four high school students have a STD.
(Hedman). It is crucial that students are provided with the opportunity to learn information regarding
prevention and detection of STD s. Not only can the lack of sex education lead to the progression of
diseases, pregnancy can occur just as easily. After obtaining research on sex education the African
News Service claims that, Absence of comprehensive sex education has resulted in teen pregnancy

Analysis Of Sally At Nasa s Jet Propulsion Laboratory
Sally has been at NASA s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) for the past 50 years. She was originally
hired, 1958, as a human computer to calculate math problems that helped rocket and spacecraft
trajectories. Her job is exactly what is described in the movie, Hidden Figures. Sally once quoted, Oh,
I love numbers, much better than letters which landed her a position working with numbers instead of
the typing position she applied for. She eventually, after getting married and having two sons, decided
to look for a job closer to home, which is how she arrived in Pasadena at JPL. The rest is history! She

Death has seen Everyman he informs him that he must go on a journey to his death, on this journey

Persuasive Speech On Wildlife Shows
Recently, I had the opportunity to watch the first episode of this new show which premieres tomorrow
night, June 23rd, on Animal Planet in Canada. In fact, that is the ONLY thing I don t like about this
show it only airs in Canada! I was completely enraptured with the bears, the deer, and all the wildlife
as well as the people who care for them. It is truly a family run sanctuary, and because it follows the
real life story of this rescue, nothing is guaranteed. At any time, things can change for the better or the
worse. And the Langen family is absolutely lovely. I fell in love with Angelika, and thankfully, I had
the opportunity to interview her about this new show. Now if we can only convince Canada to air this
show in the States...
RH: What prompted you to start this wildlife shelter?
AL: We read about two moose calves whose mother was killed by the train. As there was no place for
these calves to go, they got euthanized. We felt we could help and give future animals a safe place to
grow up.
What challenges were involved in getting this started?
To our surprise, our idea was met with great resistance from the Ministry. It took almost four years to
obtain permits.
How do you maintain this wildlife shelter? Who funds it, and where do your workers/volunteers come
from?
NLWS operational costs are funded solely by public donations. Project costs, such as new or
expansion of enclosures are often covered by Foundation Grants.
How did it come about for this shelter to get its own show on Animal Planet Canada? How long was
the process from the time you were first approached to the time the filming began?
We had several proposals from different companies over the years. Omni was the first company that
took the time to listen as to what we were willing to get involved in. They genuinely listen to our
concerns. It took a few years to get it all set up before filming began.
My understanding is that this is a true family project. This is unusual sometimes in this fast paced
world where kids are often ready to leave and move away from their parents. Why do you think it is
something that all your family loves being involved with?
We encouraged our kids to go out into the world and both left for a while, but

The Success Of The Geico Advertisement Campaign
Advertising Strategy In the past twelve months, there has been one advertising campaign that has
stuck out amongst the rest. This advertisement can not only be seen on television, but also at your
local movie theater before the opening credits. This advertisement campaign is Geico s Spy
commercial. This commercial features a US spy that is combating operatives when his cell phone
rings. When he picks up, his mother is on the other side of the line complaining about his father
refusing to hire pest control to get rid of the squirrels, as it is personal this time. The commercial then
goes on to say, if you are a mom you call at the worst time, it is what you do. If you want to save 15
percent on car insurance you switch to Geico. It s what you do (Mother Knows Best, 2015). This
paper will discuss the success of the Geico advertisement.
Success of Campaign The Geico Spy advertisement campaign first aired on December 28, 2015. This
commercial was a hit from the very beginning. The commercial used mothers calling at the wrong
time as a familiarity to most. They contrasted this with the James Bond type character being in the
worst situation possible when his mother calls. Of course, the topic would be another familiar situation
for most, where the mother is discussing something regarding their father doing something they
disagree with, most likely just bored and wanting to talk. Moms call a lot, says agency creative
director Sean Riley. I think most people would see

Epsom Case
The reason for that I could make a call that there is a difference in the prices of houses sold via auction
and non auction for both suburbs while could not do so for them separately may be because that as
mentioned before, Epsom has a considerably higher median price than One Tree Hill[8], while in
Epsom auction is a more favoured method. The fact causes that in the random sample most of the
houses sold via auction are in Epsom and most houses sold via non auction are in One Tree Hill. With
Epsom s generally higher sale price compared with One Tree Hill, there appears to be a difference
between house price via auction and non auction but the difference may actually be greatly affected by
the difference of prices of the two suburbs. However ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First of all, the finding cannot be related back to all Auckland houses it cannot even be related back to
either Epsom or One Tree Hill, as sellers in the two suburbs appears to have different preference in
selling methods and the two suburbs have considerably different median house prices mainly due to
the difference of surrounding economy and education resource. I expect every suburb to have different
median prices and selling preferences according to the different level of demand, thus when
investigating sale price by selling method in a population containing two suburbs the result can be
hard to relate back to either suburb because the suburbs in fact have very different backgrounds and in
a mixed sample they affect each other

Stress Relief Techniques for College Students
Stress Relief Students in college have many reasons to stress. There are classes to plan for, homework
to do, tests to take, money to earn, and familial pressure to boot. Researchers have determined the top
ten most common hassles associated with attending college. These include: fear about the future, lack
of sleep, wasting time, smoking and its health effects from either first or second hand smoke, their
physical appearance, the feeling that they have too much to do, misplacing or losing important
materials or personal property, not having enough time for the things they must do, concerns about the
high standards they set for themselves or that parents or the school sets for them, and the feeling of
loneliness and homesickness that accompanies college enrollment (Huffman 2012, page 97). No one
can get through college without experience stressful moments. The trick is to learn how to handle this
stress and in what ways the pressure can be relieved. One of the best ways to reduce stress is to
exercise. Working out by doing activities such as running outdoors, boxing and sparring, aerobics,
swimming, and bicycling have been proven to have extremely positive effects on a person s mental
state and their ability to handle stress. Stress is the feeling of intense pressure which people feel when
they are depended upon to perform actions which overwhelm them. It is defined as a response to a
demand that is placed upon you (Managing 2013). People s responses to stress can be

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
After the discovery of electricity, effective and efficient methods have been sought to store energy for
use on demand. Over the last century, industries which work towards the effective storage of energy
have been evolving and adapting to change in energy requirements and advances in technology.
Energy storage systems help in providing various technological approaches to the effective and
efficient management of electricity in order to create a more resilient energy infrastructure and
maximize cost savings to consumers.
Biofuel is a form of fuel produced under biological carbon fixation (such as anaerobic digestion and
agriculture). Biofuels are in various forms and are used widely in achieving energy storage needs.
Biofuels are a known source of renewable energy because of its great environmental advantages,
which includes reduced greenhouse gas emissions. The form of biofuels is categorized into three
generations, with each generation containing various fuels.
First Generation Biofuels: This generation of biofuels are generally gotten from arable crops. They are
different from the second generation biofuels in the sense that they are derived from plant dry matter
(biomass), agricultural residues and woody crops. First generation biofuels are referred to as the

The Status Of Women In Algonquian Society
The status of women is directly tied to the culture in which they live in. Mary Jenison lived in both
english colonies and with indians, she analyzed both societies and women s role in both. John
Winthrop documented the 1600 s view on women through his journal. The status of women in
Algonquian and Iroquoian society. The Europeans viewed the structure of Native American society
lacking the complexity of their own community. Their drawings and accounts of the Indian people
reveal that the tribe s division of labor and gender roles were actually very advanced, especially where
the status of women was concerned. Since married women in Europe held few rights to their property,
family wealth, or even children, women of the tribes had greater independence and discretion over
their produce, conditions of labor, and property. Native women even served as representatives in the
tribal councils, and held rights over the land they worked. This demonstrates that although women s
work was belittled in European cultures, Native women s daily contributions were recognized by
Native men and the tribe as a whole as vital to the prosperity of the community and worthy of respect.
Analyzing the condition of women in America, a woman s status in their community was directly
related to the social hierarchy, religious culture, and natural environment in which they lived, and that
the combination of those ingredients varied vastly across the continent. In the english colonies,

Armageddon is a 1998 American science fiction disaster thriller film, directed by Michael Bay,
produced by Jerry Bruckheimer. The film follows a group of professional deep core drillers who are
sent by NASA to eliminate an enormous asteroid before it collides with earth and threatens human
existence. Early in the film, it presented a series of events, beginning with a massive meteor shower
that ultimately destroys the orbiting space shuttle Atlantis. Later NASA reveals the sad news that
planet earth will make contact with this asteroid in eighteen days to the point it will cause an
extinction event and even destroy the smallest particles including bacteria. This calls for extremes

Muzzles Control-Feeding Health Essay
Muzzles Control Feeding Health
Some horses simply don t know when to stop eating and will graze with startling rapidity. Even with
pellets, certain horses are just not able to control the speed at which they eat. When a horses consumes
a lot of food very quickly, this can cause plenty of health problems. One of the biggest risks associated
with rapid eating is choking, which can be very damaging in the worst cases. Some owners make use
of muzzles to help their horses graze more slowly and control their intake. A group of researchers
recently wondered whether or not the same technique could be used to help horses who eat huge
quantities of pellets in short amounts of time.
The researchers study, led by Doctor Erin Venable, decided to investigate the use of muzzles on horses
who put their bodies at risk by eating pelleted meals very quickly. Choking can be extremely
dangerous and is a big concern for countless horse owners. It s important to understand that choking in
horses is not the same thing as choking in humans. For humans, the problem can be fatal as it causes a
blockage in the trachea, preventing someone from breathing. In horses, choking simply occurs when
the esophagus is blocked. This can make it hard or even impossible for the animal to swallow, ... Show

Sweatshops In Developing Countries
Todays, when the citizenship is concentrated, sweatshop is becoming a striking issue of controversies.
Especially in developed countries, this problem is always boycotted, but on the other hand it is an
opportunity for people in underdeveloped countries to change their lives. Although sweatshop is
considered as a complex issue with underpayment and underworking environment, they are beneficial
to change the old ideologies, economic growth, and fair working conditions. Firstly, women choose to
work in sweatshops in developing countries because this is their only source step out of unavailable
and unthinkable situation. Women in these countries tolerated outdated beliefs, such as being
restricted to domestic chores and relying on their husbands. Their lives are always in a vicious circle
that they want to escape but do not know the right way, so working in sweatshops provide women not
only chance to create stable income, but also sense of their own independence. As the writer mentions
that with the small income from garment sweatshop, women in Bangladesh can manage their finances,
have their own choice in marriage and having children (Sachs, quoted in Garyfalakis, para5).
Moreover, they have chance to go to school and gain their special skills. For example, earning $1 to
$2 in Indonesia or Bangladesh sounds unbelievable, but it can help a woman feed her kids and restrict
diarrhea disease (Kristof and Wudunn, 2000). Women in these countries also admitted that even

sites have a negative influence on our generation because of bullying, predation, and an effect on our
education. With kids interacting freely they can come across predation. Furthermore, some predators
have an objective of enticing young people into sending inappropriate webcam photos of themselves
or to engage in sexually explicit conversations (Sexton and English 2). Kids are the easiest to
manipulate and to take control of. Also, critics of social networking sites claim that it contributes to
predatory or stalking behavior and can used to invade privacy (Belanger and Finley 1). Parents should
be going through their children s profile to make sure who they are talking to. Clearly, with kids
sending private information about themselves they can be blackmailed by the receiver into mental and
physical abuse. Our generation is mostly being affected by cyberbullying. Additionally, anonymity
online can cause people to engage in cyberbullying or other anti social behavior because of limited
fear of being caught or identified (Sexton and English 2). With the idea of not getting caught, people
think it s funny to cyberbully. In addition to, social networking websites are virtual communities that
encourage and foster interaction among members of a group by allowing them to post personal
information, communicate with other users and connect their profiles to other profiles

Contrtactual Capacity of Minors
INTRODUCTION Contractual Capacity Contractual Capacity is the legal ability to enter into a
contract. Minors have particular rights and obligations established by the court when it comes to
contracts. Once a person reaches age 18, they are considered a legal adult in every state in the nation.
In addition to minors, other persons are able to avoid contracts. Mentally impaired and intoxicated
people, convicts, and aliens lack the capacity to enter into a contract. A Minor In law, the term minor
(also infant or infancy) is used to refer to a person who is under the age in which one legally assumes
adulthood and is legally granted rights afforded to adults in society. Depending on the jurisdiction and
application, this age may vary, but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It remains a matter of fact, to be determined by reference to the minor s requirements, whether the
goods or services are necessaries. It need hardly be pointed out that this creates a good deal of
difficulty for the supplier who wishes to rebut the minor s plea of infancy with the pled that what he
supplied was a necessary. Although the concept of enforcing the minor s undertaking to pay for
necessaries was developed not for the benefit of the tradesman who may trust the infant, but for the
benefit of the infant himself, it is to be doubted that many adults are encouraged to deal with the minor
solely on account of such elusive tests. The nature of a minor s liability on contracts involving
necessaries remains a matter for debate, and the question is whether the liability is strictly contractual
or arises in quasi contract. Both views have been espoused in the same case. L.J. said: The plaintiff,
when he sues the defendant for goods supplied during infancy, is suing him in contract on the footing
that the contract was such as the infant, not withstanding infancy could make. Support for this view is
found in Roberts v. Gray, a case involving an executory contract for instruction (thought to be in the
class of contracts for necessaries), where damages were awarded for breach. Fletcher Moulton L.J., on
the other hand, held in Nash v. Inman CASE that: An infant, like a lunatic, is

Explaining the Gospel of Mark
When I read Mark during church we would read the long ending, at the time I didn t know the
difference between the endings. I was confused to why there were three different parts to it and they
were broken up as if they were supposed to be a new verse. When I asked the leader of the class she
couldn t give me an explanation. With the research I have done I feel that I have come to a conclusion
as to which ending is the most correct and why there are multiple endings.
When the Sabbath was over, Mary the mother of James, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb where
Jesus had been buried. A large stone closed off the entrance and when they arrived the stone had been
moved. An angel appeared to them and told them not to be alarmed for Jesus had risen. But, they were
alarmed and when the angel told them to go tell the disciples and Peter that Jesus had risen they were
afraid, ran away, and didn t tell anyone.
The gospel of Mark ends rather abruptly at verse 16:8, in the middle of a sentence but according to
Mann the beginning also started very abruptly means it could still have been written by Mark. In this
ending Mary and Mary the mother of James are headed to the tomb where Jesus has been buried, they
are bringing spices to anoint the body of Jesus. According to Harrington this is rather odd because it is
not custom for someone to anoint a deceased person a day and two nights after the death. Also the fact
that they were bringing the spices to anoint him means that they

The Road Not Taken Response Paper
Poetry is a powerful medium of expression which has existed in all cultures for centuries. Similar to
other forms of literature, poems have literal, metaphorical, and symbolic meanings that are interpreted
by each reader individually and perhaps differently, yet attempt to communicate a central message.
The Road Not Taken, published in 1916 by Robert Frost, is noted to be one of the most misread,
misunderstood poems in of the century. The text seems to contradict itself, confirming that there was
not a road less traveled, both roads were virtually the same. (Russo) Literary critics do not all agree on
the central theme of this poem. Opinions vary with thoughts that the poem is about individuality,
conformity and life choices; to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It has a theme that may change, depending on the point of view of the particular audience. To many it
is a statement about life choices and how the path people choose in life will determine how successful
they become. Negative thinkers may believe it is a statement that all paths are basically the same, and
no matter what path is chosen, it won t make a difference in the outcome. One needs to be willing to
take risks even if the path that s chosen is the one less taken. Whether a person chooses to be an
individual and determine their own path, or conform to the choices of others, the quality and outcome
of each individual s life is determined by their actions. Every action affects the individual and the
group, so the path you take matters, yesterday, today, tomorrow, and for

Social Class Impact On Class And Social Institutions Of...
Introduction
For my assignment I was asked to discuss the two way interaction between social class and social
institutions of family, education and religion. I assignment consisted of six questions, how social class
impacts family, how family impacts social class; how social class impacts education, how education
impacts social class; how social class impacts religion, and how religion impacts social class.
All of the above mentioned questions are interlinked, which means that it effects and determines the
other questions answer. Family, education and religion plays a big role in the different societal classes.
The goal of my assignment is to determine whether your class has a different impact on your beliefs,
upbringing and education.
How social class impacts family
A similar rank or standing in society is based on their prestige, power, wealth, education, and other
valued resources (Sawhill, 2013). Individuals in a similar social class tend to have the same values,
leisure interests, and attitudes (Sawhill, 2013). We inherit a social position that is based on our parents
or guardians social class. Family resources affect the children s ability to practise opportunities like
higher education, however one can move down or up the social hierarchy in adulthood which depends
on one s hard work, connections, and motivations (Sawhill, 2013).

Farm Subsidies Essay
Agricultural subsidies is a very complex and controversial economic topic today. It will continue to be
a hot topic as government continues it. It is largely debated in the United States as well as in other
countries. The reason it is so largely debated is because it literally have an effect on the entire world
market. Not to mention that the farm has been booming the last 5 to 10 years. This topic also tends to
draw strong opinions in our area in particular due to the large agricultural community in our region.
However, even within different states there are many supporters as well as opponents to these
government subsidies. To really begin to understand this complex topic a person really needs to
understand the basics of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 2002 wheat was $3.80 a bushel so farmer s received $.06 for the difference in the guaranteed price
and $.52 for every bushel of wheat they sold ( Farm bill resources, 2008 ). The idea behind the
government subsidizing of agriculture is a good idea in theory. However, it is controversial because
there are many people who oppose this policy for different reasons. There are many reasons why it is
controversial but there are a few in particular that cause the most debate. One reason that people do
not support the subsidizing is because of the sheer cost. In 2009, the U.S. government paid over 12
billion dollars to the agricultural sector (Vogel, 2001). When you consider that fact that the payments
are being made with taxpayer dollars it explains why some people immediately oppose it. There have
been past years where the government has actually paid double that. These payments do consume a
fair portion of our governments budget. Although it is not a confirmed fact, a Canadian report said that
for every dollar earned by a U.S. farmer, 62 cents comes from some form of government payment
(Wikipedia). Basically some people view this as nothing more than transferring income from the
general tax payers to farm owners. In fact, farm subsidies is actually the United States largest
corporate welfare program. People also blame these subsidies for increasing poverty in some

Richard IIi, By William Shakespeare
Children bring out the underlying disposition and wicked intentions we all possess. Richard III, by
William Shakespeare, is a tragic play about the Duke of Gloucester who desires to be the king of
England. He does this through the manipulation and murder of many characters, including Queen
Elizabeth s children, Prince Edward and the Duke of York. These children emphasize some of the
adult themes in the play and reveals the devastating nature of these themes. Their characteristics and
deaths all contribute to the emphasis of these themes. Critics Marie Hélène Bisnaught and Michel
Bito, and Vincent Walsh all agree that the murder of Prince Edward and the Duke of York was an
atrocious deed.
Prince Edward and the Duke of York are innocent, precious, and witty. These traits the children
acquire truly highlights the extent of their deaths. Both these children are well beyond their years. This
clear when the Duke of York says I could have given my uncle s grace a flout, / To touch his growth
nearer than he d touched mine (Act II, Scene IV, Line 24 25). The young duke cleverly insults his
uncle s height and manners essentially saying that Richard is a short, disrespected man. The children s
innocence is also evident through the perspective of their mother and uncle. In the scene when Richard
III greets his nephew, Prince Edward, he says Sweet prince, the untainted virtue of your years / Hath
not yet dived into the world s deceit (Act III, Scene I, Line 7 8). Prince

Effective Leadership Papers
1. Throughout my career, I have been fortunate to have been influenced by some amazing people.
When I think about the ones that have had the lasting impacts of my view of effective leadership, they
all have one characteristic in common, humility. I believe to be an effective leader you should
understand that you will not always be right and you will not always have all the answers. My
definition of leadership is simple; I believe that one s ability to influence others is the most accurate
test of their capacity to lead. Although there varying characteristics of effective leaders such as

Placing an emphasis on describing a compelling of what the future of the Coast Guard could be like is
definitely an area I could improve on. Often times I get caught up in the now and rarely take time to
forecast what s to come. In order to effectively communicate a compelling image of the future, I must
first understand what that image should look like and then take the time project that image in a
positive manner to my subordinates.
4. Challenging people to try out new and innovative ways to their work is another concept that I
should embrace more often. I usually live by the ideas that if it s not broke don t fix it. However, I
realize that I might be inhibiting member s potential by not encouraging them to seek more creative
and efficient to accomplish a task. I will place more emphasis on allowing junior members to present
new ideas and challenge them to improve on current processes.
5. The LPI Feedback Report also identified that I should pay more attention to how my actions affect
other people s performance. Without knowing if my actions are positively or negatively affecting
member s performance I can t identify areas I need to improve on or recognize the thing that I m
getting right. In the future, I will solicit feedback for junior members and use that information to alter

Acid Base Imbalances Essay
Acid base imbalances that overcome the buffer system can be compensated in the short term by
changing the rate of ventilation. This alters the concentration of carbon dioxide in the blood, shifting
the above reaction according to Le Chatelier s principle, which in turn alters the pH. For instance, if
the blood pH drops too low (acidemia), the body will compensate by increasing breathing thereby
expelling CO2, and shifting the above reaction to the left such that fewer hydrogen ions are free; thus
the pH will rise back to normal. For alkalemia, the opposite occurs.
The kidneys are slower to compensate, but renal physiology has several powerful mechanisms to
control pH by the excretion of excess acid or base. In response to acidosis, tubular ... Show more

  • 3. Jack The Ripper Essay Jack The Ripper In August 1888, the first of a series of murders was committed by a killer who became known as Jack the Ripper. To this day the identity of the killer remains a mystery. Five women were brutally killed in the East End of London, by a maniac who appeared to kill without warning and with no remorse. 1)What can you learn from Source A? Source A tells us that the two murders were aimed directly at the poorest people in East End at the time, and usually because of the poverty at that time, the women had to revert to prostitution so this tells us that the murderer had a great dislike for poor people or mainly prostitutes, but there was no clear motive for him to do it. It ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Other than that they all agree in the fact that they all agree that they were very peculiar ways, and that the killer put in an excess of effort. 3)How useful are Sources D and E…? The evidence of Elizabeth Long, the rippers only survivor, described the man she had seen Annie Chapman, another victim talking to prior to her death. The description is quite vague as she only comments on what she could make out when it was dark and from far away, so it seems quite unreliable and it doesn t tell us enough, so concentrating on this to find the Ripper would be a waste of time. But it was an eye witness account so it would be quite useful. Source E relies on an article published in a local newspaper, so it could be biased, and it also relies on the information of only one informant and that could also be biased. The source was produced to inform the neighborhood about they could be on the look out and be aware that there was a murderer loose. The article says that it is basically the police s fault that these murders keep happening because they should have strengthened and he went from each police station to another, but with no avail. This is saying that the police didn t pay any attention until the first murder happened. Then the informant claimed he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Online Education Vs Traditional Education Online Education Vs Traditional Education In the present world, there are a lot of options for a student to choose for his education. Each and every student learning technique are different and learn differently and in today s world of increasing technology, the question will be whether to offer classes or take up classes online, but rather how to implement them effectively and efficiently. Hence a student must have to weigh a huge list of pros and cons before they choose one of the two options, since the means of education for these are different. Students have an opportunity to plan their own study time, if they choose online classes instead of other way round where the university will decide the class time or lecture time. Online classes can be taken at their own pace, sitting at their own home or at any place they feel comfortable, on the contrary students should physically attend classes as per the time prescribed by the professor, live near to the campus. In the online classes there is more flexibility than traditional classroom because you can do your coursework any time of the day or night without having a set schedule when you have to do your coursework. There are so many people that are choosing to further their education by taking online courses instead of traditional classroom because of their busy work schedules. Professors teaching online education have set hours that they are on to answer any questions that you may have just like they do in a traditional ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Mass Shootings And Its Effect On Society The world we live in today is corrupted with people whose motives are unethical and what some people would call unpredictable. Today s generation is growing up in darkness where nobody can even dream of the light. Mass shootings are happening more commonly and actions aren t being taken into initiative. Morals, are a person s standards of behavior or beliefs concerning what is and is not acceptable for them to do. A person with basic moral principles can see it s not acceptable for someone to shoot up a concert, or go into a church and spray multiple rounds. Yet we have people today who find it acceptable to go about their business this way. However, what about the people whose morals and ethics go totally against the thought of killing? ... • 6. Persuasive Sex Education Young students globally have been engaged in sex since the start of time, yet our society fails to provide the youth with the curriculum and resources needed to make healthy and smart decisions related to sex. 28 out 50 states do not require sex education in public schools, however, the United States has the highest rate of teen pregnancy compared to any other country. Sex education should be taught in public schools in order to inform students on the consequences of sexual intercourse as well as making educated decisions on sex. In today s day and age, teenagers are sexually active even though may not be mentally, emotionally, or financially prepared for the consequences of their actions. Students who are uneducated on sex and what it entails, need to know about the risks and health disparites it can cause. According to Amy S. Hedman PH.D, a professor at Minnesota State University, and author of American Journal of Health Studies claims that, sexually transmitted diseases are one of the most common consequences of unprotected sex and one in four high school students have a STD. • 10. Persuasive Speech On Wildlife Shows Recently, I had the opportunity to watch the first episode of this new show which premieres tomorrow night, June 23rd, on Animal Planet in Canada. In fact, that is the ONLY thing I don t like about this show it only airs in Canada! I was completely enraptured with the bears, the deer, and all the wildlife as well as the people who care for them. It is truly a family run sanctuary, and because it follows the real life story of this rescue, nothing is guaranteed. At any time, things can change for the better or the worse. And the Langen family is absolutely lovely. I fell in love with Angelika, and thankfully, I had the opportunity to interview her about this new show. Now if we can only convince Canada to air this show in the States... RH: What prompted you to start this wildlife shelter? AL: We read about two moose calves whose mother was killed by the train. As there was no place for these calves to go, they got euthanized. We felt we could help and give future animals a safe place to grow up. What challenges were involved in getting this started? To our surprise, our idea was met with great resistance from the Ministry. It took almost four years to obtain permits. How do you maintain this wildlife shelter? Who funds it, and where do your workers/volunteers come from? NLWS operational costs are funded solely by public donations. Project costs, such as new or expansion of enclosures are often covered by Foundation Grants. How did it come about for this shelter to get its own show on Animal Planet Canada? How long was the process from the time you were first approached to the time the filming began? We had several proposals from different companies over the years. Omni was the first company that took the time to listen as to what we were willing to get involved in. They genuinely listen to our concerns. It took a few years to get it all set up before filming began. My understanding is that this is a true family project. This is unusual sometimes in this fast paced world where kids are often ready to leave and move away from their parents. Why do you think it is something that all your family loves being involved with? We encouraged our kids to go out into the world and both left for a while, but

This advertisement can not only be seen on television, but also at your local movie theater before the opening credits. This advertisement campaign is Geico s Spy commercial. This commercial features a US spy that is combating operatives when his cell phone rings. When he picks up, his mother is on the other side of the line complaining about his father refusing to hire pest control to get rid of the squirrels, as it is personal this time. The commercial then goes on to say, if you are a mom you call at the worst time, it is what you do. If you want to save 15 percent on car insurance you switch to Geico. It s what you do (Mother Knows Best, 2015). This paper will discuss the success of the Geico advertisement. Success of Campaign The Geico Spy advertisement campaign first aired on December 28, 2015. This commercial was a hit from the very beginning. The commercial used mothers calling at the wrong time as a familiarity to most. They contrasted this with the James Bond type character being in the worst situation possible when his mother calls. Of course, the topic would be another familiar situation for most, where the mother is discussing something regarding their father doing something they disagree with, most likely just bored and wanting to talk. Moms call a lot, says agency creative director Sean Riley. I think most people would see ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Epsom Case The reason for that I could make a call that there is a difference in the prices of houses sold via auction and non auction for both suburbs while could not do so for them separately may be because that as mentioned before, Epsom has a considerably higher median price than One Tree Hill[8], while in Epsom auction is a more favoured method. The fact causes that in the random sample most of the houses sold via auction are in Epsom and most houses sold via non auction are in One Tree Hill. With Epsom s generally higher sale price compared with One Tree Hill, there appears to be a difference between house price via auction and non auction but the difference may actually be greatly affected by the difference of prices of the two suburbs. However ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First of all, the finding cannot be related back to all Auckland houses it cannot even be related back to either Epsom or One Tree Hill, as sellers in the two suburbs appears to have different preference in selling methods and the two suburbs have considerably different median house prices mainly due to the difference of surrounding economy and education resource. I expect every suburb to have different median prices and selling preferences according to the different level of demand, thus when investigating sale price by selling method in a population containing two suburbs the result can be hard to relate back to either suburb because the suburbs in fact have very different backgrounds and in a mixed sample they affect each other ... There are classes to plan for, homework to do, tests to take, money to earn, and familial pressure to boot. Researchers have determined the top ten most common hassles associated with attending college. These include: fear about the future, lack of sleep, wasting time, smoking and its health effects from either first or second hand smoke, their physical appearance, the feeling that they have too much to do, misplacing or losing important materials or personal property, not having enough time for the things they must do, concerns about the high standards they set for themselves or that parents or the school sets for them, and the feeling of loneliness and homesickness that accompanies college enrollment (Huffman 2012, page 97). No one can get through college without experience stressful moments. The trick is to learn how to handle this stress and in what ways the pressure can be relieved. One of the best ways to reduce stress is to exercise. Working out by doing activities such as running outdoors, boxing and sparring, aerobics, swimming, and bicycling have been proven to have extremely positive effects on a person s mental state and their ability to handle stress. Stress is the feeling of intense pressure which people feel when they are depended upon to perform actions which overwhelm them. Mary Jenison lived in both english colonies and with indians, she analyzed both societies and women s role in both. John Winthrop documented the 1600 s view on women through his journal. The status of women in Algonquian and Iroquoian society. The Europeans viewed the structure of Native American society lacking the complexity of their own community. Their drawings and accounts of the Indian people reveal that the tribe s division of labor and gender roles were actually very advanced, especially where the status of women was concerned. Since married women in Europe held few rights to their property, family wealth, or even children, women of the tribes had greater independence and discretion over their produce, conditions of labor, and property. Native women even served as representatives in the tribal councils, and held rights over the land they worked. This demonstrates that although women s work was belittled in European cultures, Native women s daily contributions were recognized by Native men and the tribe as a whole as vital to the prosperity of the community and worthy of respect. Analyzing the condition of women in America, a woman s status in their community was directly related to the social hierarchy, religious culture, and natural environment in which they lived, and that the combination of those ingredients varied vastly across the continent. Even with pellets, certain horses are just not able to control the speed at which they eat. When a horses consumes a lot of food very quickly, this can cause plenty of health problems. One of the biggest risks associated with rapid eating is choking, which can be very damaging in the worst cases. Some owners make use of muzzles to help their horses graze more slowly and control their intake. A group of researchers recently wondered whether or not the same technique could be used to help horses who eat huge quantities of pellets in short amounts of time. The researchers study, led by Doctor Erin Venable, decided to investigate the use of muzzles on horses who put their bodies at risk by eating pelleted meals very quickly. Choking can be extremely dangerous and is a big concern for countless horse owners. It s important to understand that choking in horses is not the same thing as choking in humans. • 22. Sweatshops In Developing Countries Todays, when the citizenship is concentrated, sweatshop is becoming a striking issue of controversies. Especially in developed countries, this problem is always boycotted, but on the other hand it is an opportunity for people in underdeveloped countries to change their lives. Although sweatshop is considered as a complex issue with underpayment and underworking environment, they are beneficial to change the old ideologies, economic growth, and fair working conditions. Firstly, women choose to work in sweatshops in developing countries because this is their only source step out of unavailable and unthinkable situation. Women in these countries tolerated outdated beliefs, such as being restricted to domestic chores and relying on their husbands. Their lives are always in a vicious circle that they want to escape but do not know the right way, so working in sweatshops provide women not only chance to create stable income, but also sense of their own independence. As the writer mentions that with the small income from garment sweatshop, women in Bangladesh can manage their finances, have their own choice in marriage and having children (Sachs, quoted in Garyfalakis, para5). Moreover, they have chance to go to school and gain their special skills. Social networking sites have a negative influence on our generation because of bullying, predation, and an effect on our education. With kids interacting freely they can come across predation. Furthermore, some predators have an objective of enticing young people into sending inappropriate webcam photos of themselves or to engage in sexually explicit conversations (Sexton and English 2). Kids are the easiest to manipulate and to take control of. Also, critics of social networking sites claim that it contributes to predatory or stalking behavior and can used to invade privacy (Belanger and Finley 1). Parents should be going through their children s profile to make sure who they are talking to. Clearly, with kids sending private information about themselves they can be blackmailed by the receiver into mental and physical abuse. Our generation is mostly being affected by cyberbullying. Additionally, anonymity online can cause people to engage in cyberbullying or other anti social behavior because of limited fear of being caught or identified (Sexton and English 2). • 24. Contrtactual Capacity of Minors INTRODUCTION Contractual Capacity Contractual Capacity is the legal ability to enter into a contract. Minors have particular rights and obligations established by the court when it comes to contracts. Once a person reaches age 18, they are considered a legal adult in every state in the nation. In addition to minors, other persons are able to avoid contracts. Mentally impaired and intoxicated people, convicts, and aliens lack the capacity to enter into a contract. It remains a matter of fact, to be determined by reference to the minor s requirements, whether the goods or services are necessaries. It need hardly be pointed out that this creates a good deal of difficulty for the supplier who wishes to rebut the minor s plea of infancy with the pled that what he supplied was a necessary. Although the concept of enforcing the minor s undertaking to pay for necessaries was developed not for the benefit of the tradesman who may trust the infant, but for the benefit of the infant himself, it is to be doubted that many adults are encouraged to deal with the minor solely on account of such elusive tests. The nature of a minor s liability on contracts involving necessaries remains a matter for debate, and the question is whether the liability is strictly contractual or arises in quasi contract. Both views have been espoused in the same case. L.J. said: The plaintiff, when he sues the defendant for goods supplied during infancy, is suing him in contract on the footing that the contract was such as the infant, not withstanding infancy could make. Support for this view is found in Roberts v. Gray, a case involving an executory contract for instruction (thought to be in the class of contracts for necessaries), where damages were awarded for breach. • 25. Explaining the Gospel of Mark When I read Mark during church we would read the long ending, at the time I didn t know the difference between the endings. I was confused to why there were three different parts to it and they were broken up as if they were supposed to be a new verse. When I asked the leader of the class she couldn t give me an explanation. With the research I have done I feel that I have come to a conclusion as to which ending is the most correct and why there are multiple endings. When the Sabbath was over, Mary the mother of James, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb where Jesus had been buried. A large stone closed off the entrance and when they arrived the stone had been moved. An angel appeared to them and told them not to be alarmed for Jesus had risen. But, they were alarmed and when the angel told them to go tell the disciples and Peter that Jesus had risen they were afraid, ran away, and didn t tell anyone. The gospel of Mark ends rather abruptly at verse 16:8, in the middle of a sentence but according to Mann the beginning also started very abruptly means it could still have been written by Mark. In this ending Mary and Mary the mother of James are headed to the tomb where Jesus has been buried, they are bringing spices to anoint the body of Jesus. According to Harrington this is rather odd because it is not custom for someone to anoint a deceased person a day and two nights after the death. Also the fact that they were bringing the spices to anoint him means that they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Richard III, by William Shakespeare, is a tragic play about the Duke of Gloucester who desires to be the king of England. He does this through the manipulation and murder of many characters, including Queen Elizabeth s children, Prince Edward and the Duke of York. These children emphasize some of the adult themes in the play and reveals the devastating nature of these themes. Their characteristics and deaths all contribute to the emphasis of these themes. Critics Marie Hélène Bisnaught and Michel Bito, and Vincent Walsh all agree that the murder of Prince Edward and the Duke of York was an atrocious deed. Prince Edward and the Duke of York are innocent, precious, and witty. These traits the children acquire truly highlights the extent of their deaths. Both these children are well beyond their years. This clear when the Duke of York says I could have given my uncle s grace a flout, / To touch his growth nearer than he d touched mine (Act II, Scene IV, Line 24 25). The young duke cleverly insults his uncle s height and manners essentially saying that Richard is a short, disrespected man. This alters the concentration of carbon dioxide in the blood, shifting the above reaction according to Le Chatelier s principle, which in turn alters the pH. For instance, if the blood pH drops too low (acidemia), the body will compensate by increasing breathing thereby expelling CO2, and shifting the above reaction to the left such that fewer hydrogen ions are free; thus the pH will rise back to normal. For alkalemia, the opposite occurs. The kidneys are slower to compensate, but renal physiology has several powerful mechanisms to control pH by the excretion of excess acid or base.
