1929 Stock Market Crash
The 1929 Stock Market Crash In early 1928 the Dow Jones Average went from a low of 191 early in
the year, to a high of 300 in December of 1928 and peaked at 381 in September of 1929. (1929 ) It
was anticipated that the increases in earnings and dividends would continue. (1929 ) The price to
earnings ratings rose from 10 to 12 to 20 and higher for the market s favorite stocks. (1929 )
Observers believed that stock market prices in the first 6 months of 1929 were high, while others saw
them to be cheap. (1929 ) On October 3rd, the Dow Jones Average began to drop, declining through
the week of October 14th. (1929 ) On the night of Monday, October 21st, 1929, margin calls were

(1929 )
The Crash and The Depression After the crash, production fell nearly 50% from the business cycle
peak in August 1929 to March 1933. Meanwhile, the overall price level of stocks dropped by about
1/3. Many people blamed the crash for the economic collapse. Some people held responsible, fairly or
not, were President Hoover, brokers, bankers, and businesspersons. The cause of the depression
cannot be linked to one individual or even a group of people. It is also unlikely that the crash of the
market would have been large enough to lead the US economy into the depression by itself and to
sustain the downward spiral in business activity. (1929 )
Why People Invested in the Stock Market During 1929, people invested in the stock market for five
major reasons. The first was that the market was considered an easy way to get rich quick. Although
about four million Americans, a small amount, invested in the stock market at one time, the constant
influx of new investors coming in and old investors moving out ensured that new money was always
flowing around. (1929 ) Another reason was the higher wages of the ordinary workers. This meant
that everyone in America had extra money to put into savings or invest in the market. The third reason
was that at this time, money was made more readily available from banks, at a lower interest rate, to
more people.

Taking a Look at Morocco
Introduction
Morocco a country that in itself has a rich history that dates back to prehistoric times. An odd land
where you can sit in 80 degree temps and have palm trees surrounding you and look up to the
mountains tops covered in snow. Where so many have wondered in to discover a part of Africa rich in
abundance of unique culture and heritage. Where poets and story tellers have left with a story to tell of
a great land to which they have traveled. American Paul Bowles wrote many books set in Morocco,
arguably the best being The Spiders House, which is set in Fez. There were many famous authors from
Morocco itself which gave the outside world an insight to the country. Some famous Moroccans
authors include Leila Abouzeid, Barbara Parmenter who wrote the famous book, Year of the Elephant:
A Moroccan Woman s Journey Toward Independence. Challenging the way people treated woman and
thoughts of woman. Even though this book was fictional it encouraged a forward movement for the
rights of Moroccan woman, all by using the power of pen. It caught the attention and eye of many
westerners which lead to a revolution of woman s rights. First published in 1983, was the first novel
written by a Moroccan to sell out worldwide. Is it the beautiful Berber city of Ouarzazate, which
seems to be a favorite with Hollywood producers, thanks to its terracotta Kasbah s and outlandish
scenic surrounds? What is it that makes this country so special and captivating? Is it the people, a

Using The Hydrate Rather Than The Anhydrous Form Of...
Theophylline is a bronchodilator used in the treatment of asthma, it has a low molecular weight of
180.2. It is slightly acidic, when in a saturated solution of water and has a pKa of 8.81.
2. What are the implications of using the hydrate rather than the anhydrous form of theophylline (i) in
formulation (manufacture of the tablet) and (ii) in biopharmaceutics (dissolution)? 20%
I. Manufacturing theophylline formulations come with challenges for both the anhydrous and hydrate.
For the anhydrous form, a study showed that the wet granulation of theophylline anhydrous in
conjunction with microcrystalline cellulose, led to the formation of the monohydrate form of the drug.
This is significant because the monohydrate has slower dissolution than the anhydrous form of
theophylline. Thus the method of manufacture is highly important as the study showed directly
compressed pellets had better dissolution profiles. Also it shows the importance of the choice of
excipients as pellets manufactured via wet granulation in the absence of microcrystalline cellulose
showed similar release to that of directly anhydrous theophylline.
Theophylline monohydrate has a tendency to dehydrate during the drying process, it can do so at fairly
cool temperatures of around 60⁰C. So this makes temperature an important factor in the manufacture
of monohydrate as phase transition can occur.
II. A study conducted in 1992 found

Kardashian Women
Keeping up with the Joneses For many when they think monsters they think of killers, rapist, or
thieves but sometimes monster can come in the form of something a little less intimidating but still
have the potentiality to eradicate and damage a society. One must realize the sometimes monsters are
not that thing in your closet or under your bed or in a scary movie, but they are the ones that we see
every day in every magazine, blog, and commercial. They are the ones with the biggest platform to
potentially help society but instead decide to fill it with negativity and lies. Lastly one must identify
these monsters and not help to promote or desire to be like them but instead dismantle their control
and influence over society. A young girl turns ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They are not just copying the looks but they are attempting to mock the culture. The Kardashians are
repeat offenders of cultural appropriation, which entails a majority group taking something form a
marginalized, minority ethnic group, often for frivolous reasons or financial gain. ( 7 Things the
Internet Needs to Learn about Kylie Jenner and Cultural Appropriation.). The Kardashians are known
for their imitation of black culture. Not to long ago, Julee Wilson, of HuffingtonPost.com, exposed a
magazine company for naming Kendall Jenner fashionista of the week for taking braids to a whole
new level. All she had was cornrows, a simple style used by blacks for centuries. In an attempt to
seem cultured the Kardashian clan ridicules other cultures. Another example is when Kylie Jenner
admitted she had lip filler, Kylie got lots of praise, she even got credited for starting a new trend of
fuller lips. Once again this is already apart of someone else culture. Niki McGloster, from
Elitedaily.com, stated that while Kylie received praise for ballooning her lips with collagen fillers, the
African American girls who have had full luscious lips their whole life got made fun of and teased.
But now since Kylie Jenner has deemed this to be cool, fuller lips are now appreciated. Lastly, when
Kylie Jenner tried on dreads for a fashion spread she garnered praise

The Interventions Of A Offender Manager s Risk By...
This essay will critically reflect on the interventions used in the community to manage offender s risk
by identifying the strengths and weaknesses of communication, between Offender Managers and
external agencies. An evaluation will be made of how Offender Managers are able to use feedback
from community interventions, to effectively manage an individuals risk throughout supervision
sessions and explore different strategies used in order build a relationship and manage compliance
throughout an order. This essay will highlight diversity issues raised and how future practice can be
improved from reflecting on current work. I will be referring to two case studies drawn from my own
practice as a Probation Service Officer (PSO), Mr N and Mr C, and demonstrate how theoretical
literature and research has informed decision making in managing risk and planned interventions.
An Offender Manager s (OM) role identified by Goldhill Skinner, 2013, is to build a rapport,
understand an offender s pathway to offending, undertake a risk assessment that addresses the risk of
reoffending, the risk of harm that they pose, and to devise a plan for supporting them out of offending.
In order to manage the risk in both cases, I have used the risk assessment tools Offender Assessment
System (OASys) and the Offender Group Reconviction Scale (OGRS) to determine that both the
offenders which I will be referring to pose a medium risk of reoffending. OASys was introduced in the
Probation Service in

The Ideas Of Machiavelli And Socrates
Essay #1
The ideas of Machiavelli and Socrates have influenced the leadership styles and approaches of leaders
around the world. From Stalin to the founding fathers of the United States, Machiavellian influenced
motives and ideals can be seen throughout modern history. Socrates is often referred to as the founder
of Western philosophy, and his teachings have been passed on to leaders over the centuries. This paper
will state both the Machiavelli s concept of a Prince , and present Socrates perspective on the ideal
prince. It will then evaluate Machiavelli s concept of prince from Socrates perspective, and decide as
to whether Socrates would be supportive of a political system led by a Machiavellian Prince.
The Machiavellian approach ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This prince would not concern himself with the will of the majority, as decisions that he makes need to
be logical and defensible. This prince would place an emphasis on virtue, over the pursuit for material
wealth. The prince could never intentionally do wrong or evil, and would disapprove of the idea of
returning an evil for an evil.
The difference between the two figures is striking. Machiavelli writes about a prince that breaks his
word, when necessary for his own gain. On the other hand, Socrates argues that is never right to be
untruthful. Machiavelli and Socrates both argue for self development, yet the forms of development
that they advocate are very different. Although there are similarities, such as the fact that each ideal
prince should surround himself with smart, questioning advisors, the differences in the core of each
argument are too deeply divided. Socrates would not approve of an ideal Machiavellian prince, and
would not be supportive of the political system that this prince would lead.
The biggest difference between the two ideal princes is their respective views on ethics and justice.
For Machiavelli ethics should be pushed aside when it is in the best interest of the prince to do so.
This is something that Socrates could never endorse, as it is his belief that people should spend their
lives in the pursuit of virtue, and should lead ethical

Depression Is Not Only A State Of Feeling Sad
Depression is not only a state of feeling sad, it is an illness that overpowers the ability to feel emotion,
whether bad or good. Depression involves the mind, and it also involves the body and thoughts. This
disorder can be passed down through genes or can be caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain. A
biological cause of this disorder would be something such as enlarged adrenal glands. People who are
depressed have a lower count of neurotransmitters involved with depression. An imbalance of
hormones can also be connected to depression, therefore, when having too high of count of a hormone
related to stress in particular (cortisol), depression may occur. Unfortunately, depression affects twenty
percent of all Americans. Women are more likely to become depressed than men. Genes also have a
lot to do with Depression. While studying twins, scientists have found that there is a powerful genetic
influence in depression. Identical twins are three times more possible to have depression than fraternal
twins raised in the same environment. In lecture we discussed that rates of MDD are two times greater
in those with firs degree relatives. Symptoms caused by major depression can vary from person to
person. Although depression may occur only one time during a person s life, some people have
multiple episodes of depression. During these episodes, symptoms occur most of the day, nearly every
day for two weeks and may include: feeling sad and hopeless, and loss of interest, as

The Prince By Niccol á˝ˆ Machiavelli
The Prince by Niccolὀ Machiavelli was quite interesting and at the same time quick shocking. It is
basically written as a book with a set of rules of how he governed his people and how other
government officials should govern their people and territories. This book is one of the main reasons
that some people link Machiavelli to Satan and sometimes call him Satan s son or rightful heir. This
book is also what brought the term Machiavellian into existence which basically means: Being or
acting in accordance with the principles of government analyzed in Machiavelli s The Prince and
characterized by subtle or unscrupulous cunning, deception, expediency, or dishonesty (Random
House Dictionary). Taking that all into account George Bull did ... Show more content on

However it was published and we read it today; after all, it was a different time, different place. The
Prince can really be divided into four different parts with multiple chapters (ideas or ideals). The four
parts are new princedoms and Free states which encompasses chapters 1 9; military and the strength of
principalities, chapters 10 13; the qualities and prudence of the prince (Machiavelli), chapters 14 23;
and prudence and chance around the situation in Italy at the time, chapters 24 26. So it is logical to
start with the first section of The Prince which is the section focusing on the new princedoms and Free
States. One main point that seems to continually bring its self to light throughout the book is the idea
that principalities are hereditary. This is referring to the fact that the only rulers, princes, in that certain
area all come from the same family or lineage and that this concept of royalty is considered old or not
new. If said lineage were to change that would change the meaning of it to new. This basically means
that the new kingdom, princedom, is entirely new and there was nothing that is related to the current
princedom that happened before. A general rule that never fails is: that whoever is responsible for
another s becoming powerful ruins himself, because this power is brought into being either by
ingenuity or by force, and both of these are

Malthus s Theory Of The Demographic Transition Theory
In 1798, Thomas Robert Malthus was ahead of his time. Malthus, an English economist and
demographer, brought to life his theory on how an over populated planet would not be able to provide
for those who reside on it (Macionis, 2013 p .635). Although Malthus was an economic pessimist, he
brought to light a very real truth. Now, 218 years later, Malthus s theory has in some way become a
reality. Although rich nations have slowed in regards to reproduction, poor nations continue to have
high birth rates which put a strain on the global aspects of the environment. As our planet now holds
over 7 billion people (US Census Bureau, 2016), scientists, economists, and environmentalist s
struggle to find a solution to our growing problem. One theory that explains this population change is
the demographic transition theory. This theory, defined as a thesis that links population patterns to a
society s level of technological development (Macionis, 2013 p. 636), suggests that the key to
population control lies in technology. Demographic transition theory is a general description of the
mortality, fertility and growth rates as societies move from one transition to another. There are 4 main
stages of the demographic transition theory. Stage 1 includes preindustrial and agrarian societies in
which high birth rates and high death rates were common (Macionis, 2013 p. 637). With there being
no form of birth control, children become an economic value in the fields as workers. Death is

The Concept Of Self Identity
The concept of Self Identity, and the theories that relate to it, are ever present in Mary Shelley s
Frankenstein. The concept of Self Identity is a Psychological concept that many famous Psychologists
have spent years studying. The main theories of self identity that relate to the story of Frankenstein are
those by Sigmund Freud, Carl Jung, and Jean Jacques Rousseau. The ideas of Sigmund Freud s
concept of Superego, Id, and Ego are represented by Victor s father, the creation, and Victor with their
actions in the novel. Carl Jung s theory of shadow and self is represented by Victor and his creation.
The theory of tabula rasa and nature versus nurture are shown by Victor and his relationship with his
creation. In Frankenstein, several psychological concepts based on self identity are showcased by
Victor and his relationships with other beings. Victor s own creation becomes representative of his Id,
through the creatures reliance on instinct and lack of ability to accept his own isolation. Freud
describes the Id as the instinctual part of our personality, and this includes sleeping, eating, and
procreating. The monster catches up with Victor and has a request for Victor, I am alone, and
miserable; man will not associate with me; but one as deformed and horrible as myself would not deny
herself to me... This being you must create (Shelley 104). The creature develops an immense
loneliness due to his being the only one of his kind, and threatens Victor if he does not

Write about the ways in which Steinbeck presents either Crooks or Curley s wife. To what extent does
he create sympathy for either of these characters? Of Mice and Men is set in 1930 s America in the
middle of the economic depression. It is geared towards the pursuit of the American dream, promoting
the ideas of equality, life, liberty and happiness. Steinbeck uses Crooks, and to some extent Curley s
wife to challenge the perception of equality and sometimes the language used is, by modern standards,
racist and misogynistic. There is an irony in the fact that the people judging Crooks are less intelligent

When Lennie first enters, Crooks is at first defensive as he is not used to visitors invading his personal

(Steinbeck, 1937, p75). Perhaps this was one of the few opportunities he had to sharpen his mind, and
he seized it. However, he was quick enough to realise the danger when Lennie was upset and backed
down immediately. This was undoubtedly self preservation, as Lennie was a big man whom had
recently mangled Curley s hand, but he may have realised he had gone too far and wanted to rectify
the situation. Steinbeck uses Crooks conversation with Lennie as a means for Crooks to vocalise his
position. Lennie asks why he is not welcome in the bunk room and Crooks is aware of the fact he has
to spell it out for Lennie (and the reader) and replies Cause I m black. They play cards in there, but I

The Globalization Of The Cocoa Industry In The Mayan Economy
Globalization is a predominant term in global politics today, but it is a more complex issue than some
may perceive it to be. While it has enabled a remarkably integrated global political landscape and fast
tracked the international economy, these new global networks also exposed the full extent of economic
and power imbalances between states. Powerful western states and corporations have used global
integration to exploit states that are rich in highly sought after resources, but not strong or secure
enough to protect these resources from external actors. The worldwide cocoa industry has expanded
profoundly since its emergence in Mesoamerican culture in the 15th century, and this industry has
become a microcosm of western dominance in the global economy. The exploitation of Latin
American and African countries at the hands of western corporate enterprises is an ongoing trend in
cocoa production; however, hope rests in corporate social responsibility and the fair trade movement
to dramatically alter the global production network of cocoa going forward.
Cocoa has an illustrious history which initially began with the Mayans around 500 BCE in
Mesoamerica, the region that would later make up Mexico and some surrounding nations (Kermani
2006). With no access to external sweeteners like sugar, the cocoa of this era had a bitter taste which
differs greatly from what is recognized as chocolate today. Since Mayan civilization did not possess
the resources to create a solid, edible

Strengths And Weaknesses Of Social Psychology
Social Psychology Assignment 1 There are 3 basic research methods that social psychologists use to
describe behaviors. Each of these have both strengths and weaknesses. The observational method is
done by observing and collecting data which is then used to describe the behavior. The researcher
observes the events in a natural setting so none of the variables are manipulated. There must be
interjudge reliability, meaning that when different researchers administer the same test to the same
subject they each must obtain the same measurement. The advantages in this method is that it is the
simplest method, it has greater accuracy, and it is useful for setting up hypothesis. The weaknesses are
that this method is hard to observe because of privacy and secrecy. It is great for explanation but not
as good for prediction and description. The observer might also be biased being that he has his own
opinion on what is right and wrong. The correlation method focuses on prediction. It is a statistical
measure of two or more variables and the relation between them are assessed. The Correlation
coefficient assesses how well you can predict one variable from another. A positive correlation is when
the value of one variable increases it is associated with the increase of the other variable. For example
height and weight, the more one grows the more he will weigh. A negative correlation is when the
value of one variable increases it is associated with the decrease of the other

The Rhetoric Of Hitler s Battle Summary
Burkes work, The Rhetoric of Hitlers Battle explains the use of unification devices and scapegoating
to facilitate identification. First off, Scapegoating is identified as creating blame of issues onto a

Germanys financial and social problems. Creating a common enemy through scapegoating brings the
opportunity to utilize unification devices to create more division. Unification devices include inborn

Moral judgment also overcomes a persons perception on topics and situations. Moral judgment can
extend further than just to that of living beings, but also to objects. For rhetoricians to consider
discourse as an object would be furthering rhetoric to more human dimensions, which would create a
better understanding to a new side of rhetoric in regards to linguistics and understanding a new lens of
the audience. Blacks argument about ideology, regarding the communism of cancer metaphor as an
idiomatic token of ideology explains how the ideologies that we hold in connection of history and

Detailed Profile
Early Mentors (from Dr.Chopra s autobiography):
My most important mentors were my parents. My father was a very prominent physician and
cardiologist. Once a week he would see patients free of charge for charity. And patients would come
from all over the country, actually, to see him, on trains and buses. My mother would cook food for
them and pay their bus fare and train fare. And my little brother and I would escort the patients in to
see my father, who would not only write the prescriptions, but pay for the medicines for them as well.
And at the end of the day, my parents would sit with me and explain what had happened during the
day. And the moral of the lesson always was that if you want to be happy, then you have to make
somebody else happy.
I grew up with this notion that you must always have somebody in your life that you can trust, that
you can confide in, that you can seek advice from, and that you can learn skills from. And the best
skills come not in school, they come from the people that you re close to, that care about you, that you
care about.
At one point in time, I have three, or four, or five people that I am acting as a mentor for. And I listen
to them mostly. I listen to what s going on in their life, what s going on with their friendships, in their
relationships. To be a mentor you need to understand what s going on in a young person s

What Is The Main Idea Of The Enlightenment
Penn Whitehead
Mr. Tucker
History 5
September 16, 2015
The Enlightenment
The main idea of the Enlightenment was that all men are created equal no matter their differences and
that everyone should live the way they want to pursue their own interest. During the 17th and 18th
century philosophers such as John Locke, Voltaire, and Adam Smith were well known. These three are
known for their ways of thinking and how they affected the government which we live in today. They
all learned from their surroundings and how nature had patterns that they can apply to government and
economics. They all used two skills, using a combination of observations and clear head reasoning.
John Locke was born in a monarchy and believed in human equality.

George W. Bush Speech Analysis
The central idea of the 43th president, George W. Bush Speech for the incident of dictator of Iraq
taking over Kuwait was that we are going to war with allies and soldiers who believe we have to fight
with the cruel dictator of Iraq because when we offered peace they only wanted war and now we have
to save the people of Kuwait. George immediately starts to play with our motions at the beginning
about the dictator of Iraq taking over the weak Kuwait, when the dictator of Iraq invaded a small and
helpless neighbor... was crushed; its people, brutalized. Five months ago, Saddam Hussein started his
cruel war against Kuwait ( Bush 2). Bush started using invaded , small , helpless neighbor , crushed ,

He subjected the people of Kuwait to unspeakable atrocities and among those maimed and murdered,
innocent children... more dangerous weapons of mass destruction... While the world waited, Saddam
Hussein met every overture of peace with open contempt. While the world prayed for peace, Saddam
prepared for war (Bush ?). Bush went further with his negative connotations and effective words such
as raped, pillaged, and plundered a tiny nation , unspeakable atrocities , maimed and murdered,
innocent children , dangerous weapons of mass destruction and Saddam prepared for war to show how
Saddam is destroying and hurting this little nation that had nothing to provoke them, even killing
innocent children, and that would play with a human s emotions making them feel this Saddam person
is awful and we should fight them for the protection of the Kuwaiti people. Also, when we were trying
to make peace with them they only prepared for war, making another human person think that the only
way to end this horrible situation is to go into war with the Iraq dictator. Developing the central idea

this article is geared to more specifically psychologists. The article is written in the scientific method

An Interpretation of Kant’s Metaphysical Deduction of the...
In what appears to be an important section of the Critique of Pure Reason, when Kant attempts to
show the natural connection between the table of judgment and the table of categories, there is a
cryptic little paragraph:
The same function that gives unity to the different representations in a judgment also gives unity to the
mere synthesis of different representations in an intuition, which, expressed generally, is called the
pure concept of understanding. The same understanding, therefore, and indeed by means of the very
same actions through which it brings the logical form of a judgment into concepts by means of the
analytical unity, also brings a transcendental content into its representations by means of the synthetic
unity of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I will provisionally think of it as referring to the faculty of understanding and not solely one or more
of the pure concepts of the understanding.11 The main interpretive dilemma of this passage revolves
around the term transcendental content. It may be the case that Kant wants to contrast the
Transcendental Logic s possession of objective content with general logic s lack of content. However
the term could also refer to the fact that the understanding has a transcendental function, and could be
indicating the transcendental nature of the categories. Each of these interpretations will be evaluated in
turn.
The Argument
At its most basic, with all the explanatory clauses stripped away the argument appears thus:22
P1 The Understanding gives unity to different representations in a judgment
P2 The Understanding gives unity to the synthesis of representations in an intuition.
C The Understanding Brings Transcendental Content to its representations.
Need anymore be said?33 The argument is easier to follow, though by no means clear, if we take into
account a missing or explanatory premise:
PE The very actions that brings the logical form of a judgment to concepts also brings a transcendental
content into the understanding s representations.
The most important element of the argument is the fact that it is the very same actions which allow
logical forms to be used in contentful judgments that necessitate the transcendental role of the

To let the liver function properly it is important to detect cirrhosis in early stage. Now a days several
noninvasive imaging techniques have been developed recently for detection of liver cirrhosis such as
CT, USG, MRI. In this paper we have used CT scan images of liver cirrhosis and applied some
statistical operations on those CT images such as mean, median, standard deviation and mode.
II. Methodology: CT scans are challenging because of the different image characteristics that must be
considered. Here we will be considering the statistical features of a CT scan of liver which is having
liver cirrhosis as a disease. The methodology followed is given below:
Fig.1 Flow Chart of Methodology Used
(1).Image Acquisition : To get an image of which you want to extract some features.
(2).Image Preprocessing : It is common practice to perform preprocessing on acquired CT scan images
before extracting the features of images. Here we have applied the statistical operation on the
preprocessed images After acquiring the image various preprocessing methods can be apply. The aim
of this step is to improve the quality of the image that suppress unwanted distortion and enhance the
image features which is important for further processing. Such as increase or decrease brightness,
shape, contrast, remove the noise from the image.

Grilled Research Paper
Grilled v. Fried Food
Has it ever happened to you that you have the option of choosing the same dish, but one recipe is
grilled and the other is fried? I know it has happened to me and almost every time I ve chosen the fried
version. Let us be honest and admit that fried food seems to be more appealing for everyone, even to
me. There is something to it that makes it addictive, McDonald s is not famous and successful for
nothing. But the sad truth is that although that fried food is extremely delicious when people consume
it frequently it can damage their health and cause serious problems.
So, am I saying that fried food should be forbidden and that we should only prepare (or buy) grilled
meals? No, not really. Fried food it is not awfully bad, indeed is not the healthiest option, but like we
have heard many times everything should have a balance , therefore fried food can be consumed in
small amounts and perhaps not so frequently. The deal with fried food is that it is a content high in fat.
What makes fried food high in fat, is that when the food is being fried it absorbs an abundant amount
of fat from the oil that is being used. The ingestion of an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But not all grilled food is bad, and grilled food can be healthier if done properly. There are several
methods that can reduced the amount of heterocyclic amines and of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons
that are created. The first one will be to cut the meat into smaller pieces, into bite size pieces to be
specific. This method reduces the amount of time that it is requires to cook the meat and the time that
the meat is exposed to the smoke. Another step that would help is to marinate the meat. The herbs and
the spices used in the marinade give antioxidants to the meat which prevent the development of HCA.
Lastly, let us remember that grilling vegetables is not detrimental to your health and not

Beyond Petroleum ( Bp )
Beyond Petroleum (BP) formerly British Petroleum is a company that claims to be devoted to finding
new energy sources with little impact on the environment. Ferrell, Fraderich, and Ferrell, explain in
their Business Ethics textbook in 2012 that after several environmental tragedies in the mid to late
2000 s, the company had to reassess their ethical standards and make changes to repair their image
and regain the confidence of their stakeholders. During this time, they began investing in wind, solar,
biofuels, and many other new types of energy sources. They also created programs to educate citizens
and stakeholders about environmental awareness. Most importantly, though, they also tasked their
ethics and compliance team with creating a code of conduct policy and communicate it out to every
employee (p.343 345). Considering that BP is a worldwide company, with employees of diverse
languages and cultures, this was a very difficult task to complete. Not only would it be a challenge to
communicate the new code of conduct out to each employee, but it was even more difficult for the
company to enforce it. Because of the lack of understanding on how to deal with ethical dilemmas,
managers and employees within the company did not complete proper risk assessment, leading to the
worst oil spill in U.S. History. This would come to be known as the Deepwater Horizon spill. BP
commonly outsources machinery and companies to complete certain tasks. They did in this case by
hiring an oil rig

Tom Sawyer Obstacles
The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain tells the adventures of a young boy, Tom. In this
classic there are several obstacles and situations that are not commonly known to be a norm in the
lives of young boys. Thomas Sawyer, an orphan, lives with his Aunt Polly and his siblings Sid and
Mary in the quiet town of St. Petersburg, Missouri. Like any typical mischievous and curious boy with
a mind of his own, he often gets into trouble. On a Saturday after fighting with a boy and getting
himself dirty his aunt punishes him by making him whitewash his fence. Being the cunning boy that
he is however, Tom was able to dodge doing this duty by making his task seem like a blessing to his
peers and tricks them into whitewashing instead. In the next ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Throughout the book he is forced to make critical decisions, turning from his boyish lifestyle and
building maturity. And although he can be a great handful, he remains using his intelligence to get
himself out of difficult situations and has a soft side, despite the fact that he doesn t love showing it.
Huckleberry Finn is also an important character in the classic; He s admired by much of his peers due
to his freedom to anything he wants. Being the town drunkard s son, he doesn t have to go to school,
take a shower, smokes, and has the free will to curse. But although he was an idol to his peers, he
gained much disapproval from most adults in his town. Yet their aspects change when he becomes rich
from his treasure and becomes a treasure to his town. Another essential character is Injun Joe, the
main antagonist of the novel. This persistent and violent man causes much drama and mystery in the
novel by always seeking revenge upon those who do him wrong. Attempting to hide his treasure and
escape his town, Joe is constantly on a wild goose chase. However, his chase comes to an end when
karma comes knocking on his door and makes him starve to death in a cave and lose his treasure. The
major conflict in Tom Sawyer is when Tom and Huck witness the death young Dr. Robinson by Injun
Joe but watch Muff Potter get accused instead

Similarities Between Capitalism And Capitalism
Capitalism and Communism economic philocaly are only talks about ownership of individual and
collective property. In Capitalism the ownership of wealth concentrates in the hands of small group of
aristocratic people while in Communism the ownership of wealth is in hands of statesmen and
bureaucrats of the State. But, I believe that the wealth is created by god or nature. We human and
living being are the tenant on the earth, I believe that the utility of natural and human resource is more
important rather than ownership. In the concept of ownership, people tend to hold and accumulate the
wealth and property hence the utility value of the property and wealth is lost. So that economic policy
must on bases on the utility of human and natural resource not on the basis of ownership. .
Up to 1990 the ideological fight between two political economical theories (communism and
capitalism) but after the collapse of USSR the impacts was communist ideology lost its impact in the
world political system. Now the capitalism only economic philosophy rules the world but capitalism
cannot solve the problem of the world economy. After 1990, Asian crises happen than in 2008
subprime crises also happen. The gap between rich and poor is increasing day by day; poverty
reduction rate is very slow. Capitalism has some basic principle problem, living with boom and bust.
The concentration of wealth in the few hand is the biggest problem of the capitalistic system, and it is
more unutilized.

Persuasive Essay On Winning Games
The thrill of winning a trophy for the first time is always memorable, however, it brings up the
question: Is receiving an award for participating just as exciting? Participation awards are a topic
highly debated among those of all ages, with none agreeing on a single answer. Individuals who are
under the impression that they are essential believe they boost a child s confidence and self esteem.
This may be true in some cases, but these trophies could be doing more harm than good. Although in
the moment they may appear to be wholesome, they have a lasting effect on children as they grow
older. Many children put loads of effort into winning awards, which is belittled by participation
trophies that are not only unhelpful and unrewarding, but don t teach them the important values
learned by losing.
Of course, participation trophies take away from the true meaning of receiving an award and enjoying
the sport. Her daughter rarely showed up for her soccer team. She had a terrible attitude, Dweck says.
In spite of that, at the end she got a giant trophy and would have been devastated had she not (Turner).
Children who put no effort into the sport or activity they have joined still receive an award for being a
part of it. This is extremely unfair to those who actually worked hard to make their team successful
because it rewards the kids who were barely even engaged in the sport. We need look no further than
the 2011 World Series for the value of earning trophies

  • 3. 1929 Stock Market Crash The 1929 Stock Market Crash In early 1928 the Dow Jones Average went from a low of 191 early in the year, to a high of 300 in December of 1928 and peaked at 381 in September of 1929. (1929 ) It was anticipated that the increases in earnings and dividends would continue. (1929 ) The price to earnings ratings rose from 10 to 12 to 20 and higher for the market s favorite stocks. (1929 ) Observers believed that stock market prices in the first 6 months of 1929 were high, while others saw them to be cheap. (1929 ) On October 3rd, the Dow Jones Average began to drop, declining through the week of October 14th. (1929 ) On the night of Monday, October 21st, 1929, margin calls were heavy and Dutch and German calls came in from overseas to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (1929 ) The Crash and The Depression After the crash, production fell nearly 50% from the business cycle peak in August 1929 to March 1933. Meanwhile, the overall price level of stocks dropped by about 1/3. Many people blamed the crash for the economic collapse. Some people held responsible, fairly or not, were President Hoover, brokers, bankers, and businesspersons. The cause of the depression cannot be linked to one individual or even a group of people. It is also unlikely that the crash of the market would have been large enough to lead the US economy into the depression by itself and to sustain the downward spiral in business activity. (1929 ) Why People Invested in the Stock Market During 1929, people invested in the stock market for five major reasons. The first was that the market was considered an easy way to get rich quick. Although about four million Americans, a small amount, invested in the stock market at one time, the constant influx of new investors coming in and old investors moving out ensured that new money was always flowing around. (1929 ) Another reason was the higher wages of the ordinary workers. This meant that everyone in America had extra money to put into savings or invest in the market. The third reason was that at this time, money was made more readily available from banks, at a lower interest rate, to more people. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Taking a Look at Morocco Introduction Morocco a country that in itself has a rich history that dates back to prehistoric times. An odd land where you can sit in 80 degree temps and have palm trees surrounding you and look up to the mountains tops covered in snow. Where so many have wondered in to discover a part of Africa rich in abundance of unique culture and heritage. Where poets and story tellers have left with a story to tell of a great land to which they have traveled. American Paul Bowles wrote many books set in Morocco, arguably the best being The Spiders House, which is set in Fez. There were many famous authors from Morocco itself which gave the outside world an insight to the country. Some famous Moroccans authors include Leila Abouzeid, Barbara Parmenter who wrote the famous book, Year of the Elephant: A Moroccan Woman s Journey Toward Independence. Challenging the way people treated woman and thoughts of woman. Even though this book was fictional it encouraged a forward movement for the rights of Moroccan woman, all by using the power of pen. It caught the attention and eye of many westerners which lead to a revolution of woman s rights. First published in 1983, was the first novel written by a Moroccan to sell out worldwide. • 5. Using The Hydrate Rather Than The Anhydrous Form Of... Theophylline is a bronchodilator used in the treatment of asthma, it has a low molecular weight of 180.2. It is slightly acidic, when in a saturated solution of water and has a pKa of 8.81. 2. What are the implications of using the hydrate rather than the anhydrous form of theophylline (i) in formulation (manufacture of the tablet) and (ii) in biopharmaceutics (dissolution)? 20% I. Manufacturing theophylline formulations come with challenges for both the anhydrous and hydrate. For the anhydrous form, a study showed that the wet granulation of theophylline anhydrous in conjunction with microcrystalline cellulose, led to the formation of the monohydrate form of the drug. This is significant because the monohydrate has slower dissolution than the anhydrous form of theophylline. Thus the method of manufacture is highly important as the study showed directly compressed pellets had better dissolution profiles. Also it shows the importance of the choice of excipients as pellets manufactured via wet granulation in the absence of microcrystalline cellulose showed similar release to that of directly anhydrous theophylline. Theophylline monohydrate has a tendency to dehydrate during the drying process, it can do so at fairly cool temperatures of around 60⁰C. So this makes temperature an important factor in the manufacture of monohydrate as phase transition can occur. II. A study conducted in 1992 found ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Kardashian Women Keeping up with the Joneses For many when they think monsters they think of killers, rapist, or thieves but sometimes monster can come in the form of something a little less intimidating but still have the potentiality to eradicate and damage a society. One must realize the sometimes monsters are not that thing in your closet or under your bed or in a scary movie, but they are the ones that we see every day in every magazine, blog, and commercial. They are the ones with the biggest platform to potentially help society but instead decide to fill it with negativity and lies. Lastly one must identify these monsters and not help to promote or desire to be like them but instead dismantle their control and influence over society. A young girl turns ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They are not just copying the looks but they are attempting to mock the culture. The Kardashians are repeat offenders of cultural appropriation, which entails a majority group taking something form a marginalized, minority ethnic group, often for frivolous reasons or financial gain. ( 7 Things the Internet Needs to Learn about Kylie Jenner and Cultural Appropriation.). The Kardashians are known for their imitation of black culture. Not to long ago, Julee Wilson, of HuffingtonPost.com, exposed a magazine company for naming Kendall Jenner fashionista of the week for taking braids to a whole new level. All she had was cornrows, a simple style used by blacks for centuries. In an attempt to seem cultured the Kardashian clan ridicules other cultures. Another example is when Kylie Jenner admitted she had lip filler, Kylie got lots of praise, she even got credited for starting a new trend of fuller lips. Once again this is already apart of someone else culture. Niki McGloster, from Elitedaily.com, stated that while Kylie received praise for ballooning her lips with collagen fillers, the African American girls who have had full luscious lips their whole life got made fun of and teased. But now since Kylie Jenner has deemed this to be cool, fuller lips are now appreciated. Lastly, when Kylie Jenner tried on dreads for a fashion spread she garnered praise ... • 7. The Interventions Of A Offender Manager s Risk By... This essay will critically reflect on the interventions used in the community to manage offender s risk by identifying the strengths and weaknesses of communication, between Offender Managers and external agencies. An evaluation will be made of how Offender Managers are able to use feedback from community interventions, to effectively manage an individuals risk throughout supervision sessions and explore different strategies used in order build a relationship and manage compliance throughout an order. This essay will highlight diversity issues raised and how future practice can be improved from reflecting on current work. I will be referring to two case studies drawn from my own practice as a Probation Service Officer (PSO), Mr N and Mr C, and demonstrate how theoretical literature and research has informed decision making in managing risk and planned interventions. An Offender Manager s (OM) role identified by Goldhill Skinner, 2013, is to build a rapport, understand an offender s pathway to offending, undertake a risk assessment that addresses the risk of reoffending, the risk of harm that they pose, and to devise a plan for supporting them out of offending. In order to manage the risk in both cases, I have used the risk assessment tools Offender Assessment System (OASys) and the Offender Group Reconviction Scale (OGRS) to determine that both the offenders which I will be referring to pose a medium risk of reoffending. OASys was introduced in the Probation Service in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Ideas Of Machiavelli And Socrates Essay #1 The ideas of Machiavelli and Socrates have influenced the leadership styles and approaches of leaders around the world. From Stalin to the founding fathers of the United States, Machiavellian influenced motives and ideals can be seen throughout modern history. Socrates is often referred to as the founder of Western philosophy, and his teachings have been passed on to leaders over the centuries. This paper will state both the Machiavelli s concept of a Prince , and present Socrates perspective on the ideal prince. It will then evaluate Machiavelli s concept of prince from Socrates perspective, and decide as to whether Socrates would be supportive of a political system led by a Machiavellian Prince. The Machiavellian approach ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This prince would not concern himself with the will of the majority, as decisions that he makes need to be logical and defensible. This prince would place an emphasis on virtue, over the pursuit for material wealth. The prince could never intentionally do wrong or evil, and would disapprove of the idea of returning an evil for an evil. The difference between the two figures is striking. Machiavelli writes about a prince that breaks his word, when necessary for his own gain. On the other hand, Socrates argues that is never right to be untruthful. Machiavelli and Socrates both argue for self development, yet the forms of development that they advocate are very different. Although there are similarities, such as the fact that each ideal prince should surround himself with smart, questioning advisors, the differences in the core of each argument are too deeply divided. Socrates would not approve of an ideal Machiavellian prince, and would not be supportive of the political system that this prince would lead. The biggest difference between the two ideal princes is their respective views on ethics and justice. For Machiavelli ethics should be pushed aside when it is in the best interest of the prince to do so. This is something that Socrates could never endorse, as it is his belief that people should spend their lives in the pursuit of virtue, and should lead ethical ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Depression Is Not Only A State Of Feeling Sad Depression is not only a state of feeling sad, it is an illness that overpowers the ability to feel emotion, whether bad or good. Depression involves the mind, and it also involves the body and thoughts. This disorder can be passed down through genes or can be caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain. A biological cause of this disorder would be something such as enlarged adrenal glands. People who are depressed have a lower count of neurotransmitters involved with depression. An imbalance of hormones can also be connected to depression, therefore, when having too high of count of a hormone related to stress in particular (cortisol), depression may occur. Unfortunately, depression affects twenty percent of all Americans. Women are more likely to become depressed than men. Genes also have a lot to do with Depression. While studying twins, scientists have found that there is a powerful genetic influence in depression. Identical twins are three times more possible to have depression than fraternal twins raised in the same environment. In lecture we discussed that rates of MDD are two times greater in those with firs degree relatives. Symptoms caused by major depression can vary from person to person. Although depression may occur only one time during a person s life, some people have multiple episodes of depression. During these episodes, symptoms occur most of the day, nearly every day for two weeks and may include: feeling sad and hopeless, and loss of interest, as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. The Prince By Niccol á˝ˆ Machiavelli The Prince by Niccolὀ Machiavelli was quite interesting and at the same time quick shocking. It is basically written as a book with a set of rules of how he governed his people and how other government officials should govern their people and territories. This book is one of the main reasons that some people link Machiavelli to Satan and sometimes call him Satan s son or rightful heir. This book is also what brought the term Machiavellian into existence which basically means: Being or acting in accordance with the principles of government analyzed in Machiavelli s The Prince and characterized by subtle or unscrupulous cunning, deception, expediency, or dishonesty (Random House Dictionary). The Prince can really be divided into four different parts with multiple chapters (ideas or ideals). The four parts are new princedoms and Free states which encompasses chapters 1 9; military and the strength of principalities, chapters 10 13; the qualities and prudence of the prince (Machiavelli), chapters 14 23; and prudence and chance around the situation in Italy at the time, chapters 24 26. So it is logical to start with the first section of The Prince which is the section focusing on the new princedoms and Free States. One main point that seems to continually bring its self to light throughout the book is the idea that principalities are hereditary. This is referring to the fact that the only rulers, princes, in that certain area all come from the same family or lineage and that this concept of royalty is considered old or not new. If said lineage were to change that would change the meaning of it to new. This basically means that the new kingdom, princedom, is entirely new and there was nothing that is related to the current princedom that happened before. • 13. Malthus s Theory Of The Demographic Transition Theory In 1798, Thomas Robert Malthus was ahead of his time. Malthus, an English economist and demographer, brought to life his theory on how an over populated planet would not be able to provide for those who reside on it (Macionis, 2013 p .635). Although Malthus was an economic pessimist, he brought to light a very real truth. Now, 218 years later, Malthus s theory has in some way become a reality. Although rich nations have slowed in regards to reproduction, poor nations continue to have high birth rates which put a strain on the global aspects of the environment. As our planet now holds over 7 billion people (US Census Bureau, 2016), scientists, economists, and environmentalist s struggle to find a solution to our growing problem. One theory that explains this population change is the demographic transition theory. This theory, defined as a thesis that links population patterns to a society s level of technological development (Macionis, 2013 p. 636), suggests that the key to population control lies in technology. Demographic transition theory is a general description of the mortality, fertility and growth rates as societies move from one transition to another. There are 4 main stages of the demographic transition theory. Stage 1 includes preindustrial and agrarian societies in which high birth rates and high death rates were common (Macionis, 2013 p. 637). The concept of Self Identity is a Psychological concept that many famous Psychologists have spent years studying. The main theories of self identity that relate to the story of Frankenstein are those by Sigmund Freud, Carl Jung, and Jean Jacques Rousseau. The ideas of Sigmund Freud s concept of Superego, Id, and Ego are represented by Victor s father, the creation, and Victor with their actions in the novel. Carl Jung s theory of shadow and self is represented by Victor and his creation. The theory of tabula rasa and nature versus nurture are shown by Victor and his relationship with his creation. In Frankenstein, several psychological concepts based on self identity are showcased by Victor and his relationships with other beings. Victor s own creation becomes representative of his Id, through the creatures reliance on instinct and lack of ability to accept his own isolation. Freud describes the Id as the instinctual part of our personality, and this includes sleeping, eating, and procreating. • 18. The Globalization Of The Cocoa Industry In The Mayan Economy Globalization is a predominant term in global politics today, but it is a more complex issue than some may perceive it to be. While it has enabled a remarkably integrated global political landscape and fast tracked the international economy, these new global networks also exposed the full extent of economic and power imbalances between states. Powerful western states and corporations have used global integration to exploit states that are rich in highly sought after resources, but not strong or secure enough to protect these resources from external actors. The worldwide cocoa industry has expanded profoundly since its emergence in Mesoamerican culture in the 15th century, and this industry has become a microcosm of western dominance in the global economy. The exploitation of Latin American and African countries at the hands of western corporate enterprises is an ongoing trend in cocoa production; however, hope rests in corporate social responsibility and the fair trade movement to dramatically alter the global production network of cocoa going forward. Cocoa has an illustrious history which initially began with the Mayans around 500 BCE in Mesoamerica, the region that would later make up Mexico and some surrounding nations (Kermani 2006). With no access to external sweeteners like sugar, the cocoa of this era had a bitter taste which differs greatly from what is recognized as chocolate today. • 19. Strengths And Weaknesses Of Social Psychology Social Psychology Assignment 1 There are 3 basic research methods that social psychologists use to describe behaviors. Each of these have both strengths and weaknesses. The observational method is done by observing and collecting data which is then used to describe the behavior. The researcher observes the events in a natural setting so none of the variables are manipulated. There must be interjudge reliability, meaning that when different researchers administer the same test to the same subject they each must obtain the same measurement. The advantages in this method is that it is the simplest method, it has greater accuracy, and it is useful for setting up hypothesis. The weaknesses are that this method is hard to observe because of privacy and secrecy. It is great for explanation but not as good for prediction and description. The observer might also be biased being that he has his own opinion on what is right and wrong. The correlation method focuses on prediction. It is a statistical measure of two or more variables and the relation between them are assessed. The Correlation coefficient assesses how well you can predict one variable from another. A positive correlation is when the value of one variable increases it is associated with the increase of the other variable. For example height and weight, the more one grows the more he will weigh. However the term could also refer to the fact that the understanding has a transcendental function, and could be indicating the transcendental nature of the categories. Each of these interpretations will be evaluated in turn. • 32. Beyond Petroleum ( Bp ) Beyond Petroleum (BP) formerly British Petroleum is a company that claims to be devoted to finding new energy sources with little impact on the environment. Ferrell, Fraderich, and Ferrell, explain in their Business Ethics textbook in 2012 that after several environmental tragedies in the mid to late 2000 s, the company had to reassess their ethical standards and make changes to repair their image and regain the confidence of their stakeholders. During this time, they began investing in wind, solar, biofuels, and many other new types of energy sources. They also created programs to educate citizens and stakeholders about environmental awareness. Most importantly, though, they also tasked their ethics and compliance team with creating a code of conduct policy and communicate it out to every employee (p.343 345). Considering that BP is a worldwide company, with employees of diverse languages and cultures, this was a very difficult task to complete. Not only would it be a challenge to communicate the new code of conduct out to each employee, but it was even more difficult for the company to enforce it. Because of the lack of understanding on how to deal with ethical dilemmas, managers and employees within the company did not complete proper risk assessment, leading to the worst oil spill in U.S. History. This would come to be known as the Deepwater Horizon spill. BP commonly outsources machinery and companies to complete certain tasks. They did in this case by hiring an oil rig ... In Capitalism the ownership of wealth concentrates in the hands of small group of aristocratic people while in Communism the ownership of wealth is in hands of statesmen and bureaucrats of the State. But, I believe that the wealth is created by god or nature. We human and living being are the tenant on the earth, I believe that the utility of natural and human resource is more important rather than ownership. In the concept of ownership, people tend to hold and accumulate the wealth and property hence the utility value of the property and wealth is lost. So that economic policy must on bases on the utility of human and natural resource not on the basis of ownership. . Up to 1990 the ideological fight between two political economical theories (communism and capitalism) but after the collapse of USSR the impacts was communist ideology lost its impact in the world political system. • 35. Persuasive Essay On Winning Games The thrill of winning a trophy for the first time is always memorable, however, it brings up the question: Is receiving an award for participating just as exciting? Participation awards are a topic highly debated among those of all ages, with none agreeing on a single answer. Individuals who are under the impression that they are essential believe they boost a child s confidence and self esteem. This may be true in some cases, but these trophies could be doing more harm than good. Although in the moment they may appear to be wholesome, they have a lasting effect on children as they grow older. Many children put loads of effort into winning awards, which is belittled by participation trophies that are not only unhelpful and unrewarding, but don t teach them the important values learned by losing. Of course, participation trophies take away from the true meaning of receiving an award and enjoying the sport. Her daughter rarely showed up for her soccer team. She had a terrible attitude, Dweck says. In spite of that, at the end she got a giant trophy and would have been devastated had she not (Turner). Children who put no effort into the sport or activity they have joined still receive an award for being a part of it. This is extremely unfair to those who actually worked hard to make their team successful because it rewards the kids who were barely even engaged in the sport. We need look no further than the 2011 World Series for the value of earning trophies ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
