During my time interning at the Public Defender s Office, I have observed that time is one of the
biggest issues. It has been shown that is quicker for an indigent individual to plead guilty than it is for
them to receive adequate legal representation. After obtaining an attorney, it is a lengthy process when
going through the different hearings and trials. Often taking several months for cases to be fully
resolved. The composition of felony criminal trials in Lowndes County is very complex. There are
several various steps within the trial process. The first official step before conducting a trial is making
an arrest. An arrest can be made with or without a warrant; however, probable cause must be present
in both cases. Upon making an arrest, the detaining officer has forty eight hours to appear before a
judge with probable cause for the arrest, which is the sufficient reason based on the facts that a crime
has been committed. Subsequently, after being arraigned, if the individual cannot afford an attorney
one is appointed to them from the Public Defender s office. Next occurs the indictment. The District
Attorney s office receives the arrest warrant and then reviews the case, by dropping and adding

addressed, and still, the issue of reality has remained debated for centuries by philosophers
(Schmerheim, 2015). This paper discusses the topic of whether the Matrix film is more like Descartes
evil deceiver or otherwise like the Berkeley s God by analyzing the philosophy with regards to the
Matrix film. The Matrix is a 1999 film that is significantly founded on the question of what is reality
and Berkeley and Descartes, on the other hand, perceived the world as having two different versions
of the truth. This paper will thus discuss the philosophy of Descartes and Berkeley concerning the
concept of reality and then provide supporting evidence how the Matrix film is a reflection of their

possible property damage. A similar issue is that of flooding and drainage. Because Lancaster exists
within a valley and is relatively flat, the area is prone to flooding. One of the current propositions is to
include flood water basins. The water basins to mitigate for the 100 year flood are essentially large
ditches on the corner of neighborhood streets. When a water basin sits in the middle of a
neighborhood it is not a functional part of the surrounding environment and can become an eyesore in
a community. This probably causes the NIMBY ism around water basins, no matter how beneficial
they may be. Noise is a very prevalent issue in Lancaster, due to the amount of aeronautical activity
conducted on EAFB. The City has rezoned the flight area in order to decrease the amount of overhead

coping mechanisms of the child as well as their family, the degree of parental involvement, and the

that to adjust the amount of light entering the microscope, we could use the iris lever to adjust the
diaphragm. For example, the white thread required little light to see the cotton fibers, compared to the
feather or letter e . Therefore, we learned that by altering the diaphragm, we can fix many of the
problems associated with the observations. Lastly, we discovered that only one depth can be seen
clearly at a time under high power. When working with the crossed strands of thread, we had to turn
the fine wheel adjustment back and forth while looking through the microscope to focus one strand.
All in all, the lab supported the purpose. We were able to identify,function the parts of a light
microscope, and prepare a wet mount(of a feather, letter e , black and white thread, and a potato).

In Meno, one of the first Platonic dialogues, Plato offers his own unique philosophical theory, infused with his mentor s brilliant sophistry. Amidst discussing whether or not virtue can be taught, Meno poses a difficult paradox: How can one be virtuous, or seek virtue, when one cannot know what it is? Near the end of Meno, Socrates observes: For true opinions, so long as they stick around, are a fine thing and do all sorts of good. But they are not willing to stick around for long. Rather, they escape from one s mind, so that they are not worth much until one ties them down by figuring out the cause. (97e 98e) Thus true opinion, on the other hand, is of things circumstantial and conditional, and remains only temporarily in the soul s memory. Plato also uses the example of a journey to Larissa to illustrate this difference; for even if one knows the route, in another lifetime the route may change, and thus is temporary. The route to Larissa, therefore, would be an object of true opinion but not of knowledge, and could not be recollected by another in future lifetimes. Although these examples of differentiating knowledge and opinion strengthen Plato s theory of recollection, the theory itself is not substantiated enough to prove the soul s immortality. Other statements in both books prove to be hypocritical. If all humans possess innate knowledge through recollection, this would refute Socrates frequent statement that he does not have any knowledge.
