Anita Citata Research Paper
Everything about her feels choreographed to perfection. She wears a tight, black leather jumpsuit
while steadying her Honda Grom 250cc motorcycle with poise. As she removes her helmet, dark,
messy curls cascade. Her makeup is bolder than normal, resembling an even fiercer version of
Marianne Faithfull from La Motocyclette. With heels that could kill, she takes on New York City. At
4'11", she may be the smallest person seen on two wheels. Yet, when she looks into the camera, her
petite, porcelain nature transforms into a smoldering goddess. The metamorphosis is even more
apparent when she sings: lithe vocals expand among deep, sonorous beats. "I'm Cita Citata," she
says. "Dangdut Queen." Cita Citata née Rahayu achieved popularity with ... Show more content on

Between September 6–14, 2016, Kidron brought the young Indonesian artist to the United States for
her first professional recording session, replete with video and photo shoots. Thus, "NYCita" was
born. Over the period of eight days, Cita eschewed delicate pageant gowns for a tight, belted leather
jumpsuit, setting off her transformation into an international, world–class dangdut beat. "The style
[of dangdut] shouldn't change," she says of her new creative direction, "but it should also adapt to
more tastes as well." That's why Kidron and his team specifically chose two renown music
producers, JKEY (Beyoncé, The London Symphony, and Alicia Keys) and A&X (Don Omar's
"Danza Kuduro," "Taboo," and "Dutty Love"), to help achieve this effect. Known for their abilities
to turn world musical influences into delectable beats, JKEY and A&X became the dream team on
Cita's newest tracks, "Rude Boy," a Latin–laced cover of the Rihanna original, and "NYCita," a Cita
first. The two songs, coupled with JKEY's hip–hop pocket and A&X's deep, tropical pulse, highlight
the singer's sinuous vocals, elevating her to Gaga–like, transcendental pop

The Complex Issue of Whales in Captivity in Blackfish by...
David Kirby's book describes the complex issues of whales in captivity. The death of a SeaWorld
trainer brought up many objective reasons of the training practices of this business were not
effective at keeping trainers safe in the water. Currently this debate is still being tested in a court of
law. OSHA claims that even with the precautions that SeaWorld tries to use, it still cannot guarantee
the safety of trainers in the water. This cultural topic has been gaining ground, and recently
prompted a movie based off this book titled, Blackfish. The audience of this book includes animal
activists, followers of David Kirby, and people that are interested in the topic of killer whales in
captivity. Rob Grom was contracted to create a book ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After all this is a family, theme park and favored vacation destination for many. Some people do not
want to see the darker side that this book represents, yet Grom's twist of the logos inspires
individuals to consider the proposal offered. Grom aims to acquire those people by introducing the
friendly whale, casually swimming on the cover. The photographer attempts to draw in the reader,
with the subtitle, "SHAMU and The DARK SIDE of KILLER WHALES IN CAPTIVITY." The
font is in all caps as if it is screaming to the reader to look at the logos, or the logic of whales in
captivity. "Shamu" is SeaWorld's iconic trademark, and a recognized character accepted in the
homes of families all over the world. Any person that frequents the park learns that Shamu is a stage
name and not the name of any of the whales. The light blue font coming out of the dark blue
background symbolizes the truth coming out of the darkness. From a logos side of Grom's
argument, one is stimulated to evaluate the claims of whales in captivity. Grom is not attempting to
use his own ethos to entice the reader to read the book. Instead, he relies on the credibility of the
writer, David Kirby to sell his story. The text on the book draws the reader to notice this writer has

history of surfing Essay
A Surf Tale
An account of surfing's thousand year voyage from the kings of Hawaii, to the surfers exile from
society, to the multi–billion dollar industry of today.
The Sun's radiation heats the upper atmosphere, sending the energy toward the earth's surface and
finally mixes with the planet's counter–rotational currents, creating jetstream flows. The winds flow
over the ocean's surface creating friction that spawns chops, pushing up the seas forming perfect
bands of open ocean swell. Pushed on by gravitational forces, the swells speed away from the winds
that they came from, moving across the deeps until they feel the drag of the shallows near the coast.
As the swells rise up out of themselves, they peak, curling into the liquid dreams ... Show more

They had perfected the science of celestial navigation and frequently made thousand mile journeys,
hitting their target destination perfectly. The Islanders braved the ocean by rowing large canoes
made from forest hardwood. They stabilized them with outriggers, enabling the boats to keep from
flipping while paddling into the surf. These crafts were propelled by wind being corralled in sails
made from pandanus leaves, or when sailing into the wind, they could be rowed with small paddles.
The islanders were accustomed to long journeys at sea seeing as these boats were primarily used to
venture out on their regular trading routes with other islands, or even on long explorations. It was on
these Expeditions that the Ancient Polynesians are believed to have discovered and inhabited
hundreds of remote islands, including present day Easter Island and of course Hawaii.
It isn't clear how the Polynesians actually discovered surfing, but we can all conjecture. Assuming
that these ancient people were familiar with paddling in the ocean, they surely understood that while
paddling with a swell, one could feel the next wave building behind them. As the wave begins to
peak, it pulls you down, and then draws you up, then allowing one to fall along the face of the wave,
skipping forward across the surface. It seems to be the best guess that surfing started much like that,

France has treated counterterrorism which is the strategies that the government and military used for

Julie Macintosh's Under The Influence
When you think of something as quintessentially American, a patriotic scene flourished with red,
white and blue is bound to come to mind. But why lies in the background? Is it hotdogs and
hamburgers? Is it a family enjoying a summer day? Does the image include a delicious ice–cold
beverage? Does that delicious American beverage happen to be a Budweiser? Peter Hernon and
Terry Ganey give the history and the rise of a beer dynasty in Under the Influence. Journalist Julie
Macintosh documents the inevitable downfall in Dethroning the King. The Busch family lived the
American dream and marketed patriotic and nationalistic pride to its fullest extent until its takeover

Modelo was not interested in the deal because years before, August III had gone to Mexico for a

Race Matters Essay
Jerrelle Borden Prof. Chris Gilliard WRA 125 When should we talk as if Race Matters? Unwittingly
or quite knowingly people have built systems of inequalities around race but people have also built
identity, friendships, and college mates around it. Nevertheless, several people I recently
interviewed never appeared to be certain when race was a good thing or when it was a bad thing to
talk about, which in my mind leaves us all struggling with a particularly intimidating question:
When should we talk as if race matters? The culture of the Snyder–Phillips dorm, in my

Factors Influencing The International Students
Factors influencing the international students to choose the United States as their higher study
destination
Prejin Kumar Pradeep Kumar Husson University
Abstract
The United States hosts more of the world's 4.5 million global mobile college and university
students than any other country in the world, with almost double the number hosted by the United
Kingdom, the second leading host country. However, little research has done on various components
that influenced a student to choose a country for higher education. In this investigation, I consider a
survey approach on students in selected countries about their preferred study destinations, their
reasons for studying internationally, their main sources of information on overseas study and their
opinions of the U.S. as a potential study destination compared to other key host destinations.
Specifically, the quality of education and research opportunities are the two major factors that
students consider before choosing the United States as their study destination.

World War I: A Brief Overview and the Canadian Bestowal
World War I A Brief Overview and Canadian Bestowal
Once the world begins to compete over resources, the first ever depiction of intense greed for power
and dominancy was demonstrated in the World War I. The fierce and blood shedding war was a
threat for the world peace and international relations. The war did not last for more than four years
and three months, beginning from august 4, 1914 till November 11, 1918. But the after effects of the
war were a burning question to all the sovereign states of the world. As the war was an attempt of
sixty states to oust the 4 empires; the German Empire, the Hapsburg Empire, Turkish Empire and
the Russian Empire. In the course of the World War I ten million fighters lost their lives and about
thirty million were wounded, besides the valuable lives of the soldiers the war coasted about £
35,000 million As a matter of a historically acknowledged reality the Paris Treaty gave America
everything they wanted because ever since the inception of treaty America enjoyed significant
importance. But yet irrespective of the Americas desire Canada did not felled in the array of the
American Revolution. A number of reasons were responsible for these acts a few of them are
discussed.
The most significant reason was the adaptation of the British parliament to the Quebec Act, 1774.
According to this act the rights were given to the Roman Catholics and the French language as well
as the French civil laws. This induced a feeling among the Canadians

The expansion of their in–store Sephora locations will hopefully lead to additional impulse buys in
other areas of the store. Also there is room in niche markets underserved by their competitors, such
as big and tall clothing and maternity wear. Finally, there is ample room for the company to expand
internet sales not only in the United States but also internationally. Threats What threats does JC
Penney not face? They are in an uphill battle against a crowd of competing retailers. They are
attempting to offer low everyday prices which put them in line with bargain retailers such as Kohl's,
and Target, while at the same time attempting to become a more classy, higher end store along the
lines of Macy's, Nordstrom, and Bloomingdales. JC Penney views all these companies as
competitors as seen in their own proxy statement. JC Penney is not as large as some of its
competitors, many of which have more substantial resources and are constantly attacking their
market share. The company also faces threats from economic conditions, such as high
unemployment and the recent recession. When consumers are under financial pressures can easily
decide to shop elsewhere, such as Kohl's, Target, and even the dreaded Walmart. Even the
perception of better value can drive consumers elsewhere. Also, shopping mall popularity is
shrinking, with some retailers focusing on and consumers preferring stand–alone locations similar to
Kohl's. Over the

Computer Science And Telecommunications Equipment Essay
Introduction
We all have experienced the inconvenience that arises when we start connecting peripherals to a
computer, or when we connect other electronic devices, with a lot of cables that becomes difficult to
control. Then we start to think how easy it would be if all these connections were done using a
different way from the physical cables, like infrareds, radio or microwaves.
The companies of computer science and telecommunications needed to develop an opened, low cost
interface to make easier the communication between devices without using cables. This is the origin
of the technology which key name is "Bluetooth". This is a fact nowadays, but now another problem
arises and is that there are a lot of standards and technologies, incompatible between them. What we
need now is a universal, valid device for the connection of all kinds of peripheral, and that works in
a transparent way for the user. This is Bluetooth.
Opposite to other current technologies, like infrared promoted by the IrDA (Infrared Data
Association) or DECT, Bluetooth has the support of the industry of computer science and
telecommunications, which in some way guarantees the success. Although there is a high number of
manufacturers who incorporate the interface IrDA in their telephones, included Ericsson, Motorola
and Nokia, the use turns out to be frustrating for many users who treat without success to download
information from their PC or PDAs to their mobile telephones, or vice versa. The

evolution that made it the nation's largest grocer in a few short years. While proposals for big–box

sharp focus by concentrating substantial wage impacts on one group, grocery workers. The first
Wal–Mart Supercenters opened in 1988 which combined the discount outlets and grocery stores

Should Victorian High Schools Repeal Vce Exams
Should Victorian High Schools Repeal VCE Exams
I'm sure every student here today would agree that not having to take VCE exams is a pretty good
idea. Repealing VCE exams would be a radical change for any high school. Acknowledgement from
your teacher that you already know the material instead of proving that you know how to take a test.
High school students face a stressful and strenuous time and are challenged by the vigorous
preparation for VCE exams. The 'do or die' VCE exams students face is a crisis time for them,
instead of thinking about their graduation. Expecting students to take these exams is unfair due to its
numerous reasons of unfairness and should not take place. The Victorian school board should repeal
these exams.
Students do not learn in the same way, they are individuals. Thankfully for society, students bring to
schools all kinds of intellect. Some students excel academically, others are artistic talents and others
have vocational talents that VCE exams do not take into consideration or measure.
The focus of my arguments for repealing VCE exams is that:
Necessary funding for schools consistently rears its 'ugly head' and these exams prove to be very
expensive. I believe, very much a waste of money. The money could be better spent on school
materials like books, computers, and other necessary supplies. The allocated funding could also be
well spent on hiring more teachers, so that classes could be smaller and students receive more

Being A Sonographer Essay
Paragraph 1
Introduction;
Hey! Have you ever thought of becoming a sonographer? Do you even have an idea what a
sonographer is? Have you ever thought of looking into someones body and look inside their
stomach? Especially at a embryon? Well here in this paper you will find out every little thing about
becoming a sonographer.
Paragraph 2; Education
The education for this career is really simple and easy. You need to have a formal education, and an
associates degree or just a certificate of a training program. but many of the employers also require a
professional certification. It may also depend on what kind of degree you want it will depend on
how many years you will like to get profession in this career but, to get the profession of being a
sonographer it will take at least one year or two, you can go for four years if you want a master's
degree. Which will be great because you will get paid more.

Sonography has many good and bad disadvantages. One of the advantages this career has is that you
will be looking at baby's. You will be the first person to tell any mother what the baby will be a girl
or boy. You will bring joy to both parents mom and dad just by saying "It's a Girl" or "Its a boy".
Another advantage is that you will be in touch with you patients you will have to listen to what they
have to tell you. What i'm actually saying about this is that many of your patients will get emotional
and you will have to be there to support them. Just as there is advantages there is also disadvantages.
One of the disadvantages is that you may have to work over time you will be standing up 98% of the
time. You might also have to work night shifts depending on what hospital you actually get a job at.
but in my opinion i feel like being a sonographer is amazing.

university. Time management is needed in order for me to succeed not only in this course but
through my field of study. Before I started school, I already had a tight schedule between my family
and work. Since I have decided to go to back to school, I had to rearrange my schedule to put school
in the equation. As far as leisure time, I take the time out for that when available. In order for me to
meet the course requirements, I have a few time management strategies that I use. The strategies I
use are keeping a calendar, organizing and planning, setting boundaries, and sometimes I have to
turn down doing things that will put me off schedule. If I am not able to manage my time, I will lose
focus on what it is that I am suppose to be doing. The journey I will be taking to getting my master's

Chris Kyle Personality
Chris Kyle, the deadliest excellent shooter in U.S. military history, is born and raised in Texas. He
grows up hunting with his father, and develops a strong sense of duty to his country. In 1996 he
signs up for the U.S. military, and is recommended for the Navy SEALs, at the time a (compared to
other things) unknown branch trained to fight on land, in the sea, and in the air. Kyle makes it
through intense physical training, during which he's water–boarded, forced to exercise for hours at a
time without rest, and starved of sleep. Shortly after completing his SEAL training, Kyle is
placed/assigned in Long Beach, California, with Team 3 of the Navy SEALs. There, he meets his
future wife, Taya. Taya is attracted to Kyle in part because he's unusually humble for a SEAL; at one
point, he tells her, "I'd lay down my life for my country." Kyle is placed/assigned in California
during September 11, 2001; he's horrified by al–Qaeda's terrorist horrifying crimes, and wants to
send out and use to the Middle East as soon as possible. In the end, it takes almost two years for
Kyle to send out and use. During this time, Kyle continues to train carefully/strictly/in a high–

Sexual Assault Has Been The People V. Turner
It would be wrong to say violence ends when you turn the television off or act as if injustice didn't
exist anymore, but if you reflect back on 2016 so far, one of the biggest topics that often dominates
the news and blogosphere concerned the high frequency of assaults on college campuses around the
country. In the place where many young adults begin to learn who they are and who they want to be
while enjoying a comfortable freedom and safety among their peers discovered freedom and safety
could not always be guaranteed.
One of the most discussed topics surrounded sexual assault has been the People v. Turner. Brock
Turner was an undergraduate student at Stanford University in Northern California when he was
apprehended by two Swedish international students who witnessed Turner sexually assaulting an
unconscious woman.
The students who stopped Turner from continuing to assault the young woman stated that they
intervened because they could tell that the woman was clearly unconscious. Turner was then
subsequently arrested, charged and indicted on two counts of felony assault and one count of
attempted rape. However, it was the consequences that Turner faced for his actions which have
upset many.
After a jury found Turner guilty of assault and attempted rape Judge Aaron Persky of the Santa
Clara County Superior Court sentenced Turner to a meek six months confinement in the Santa Clara
County jail followed by three months of probation. After serving three months in the Santa

Stereotypes And Perceptions Of Military Personnel
For many years a great deal of men and women have bravely fought to protect their country, yet
those who have served are often misunderstood. People 's perception of military personnel has been
mislead by different experiences they have with them, which is why people have different views on
different people. Stereotypes and misconceptions are used by people to talk about or describe others
based on the limited knowledge they have on the group of people. Stereotypes are a widely believed
mental picture of a group that are based on truth, but are usually exaggerated. This leads someone to
infer that a person has characteristics and abilities just as the rest of the group he or she is associated
with has. Misconceptions are formed from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Stereotypes and misconceptions can be learned by anyone at any time since there are many sources
to get them from and as long as people are not properly informed about a group stereotypes and
misconceptions will always be out there. Stereotypes are often made by the media and other groups
in order to make society believe what they believe or what they want others to believe which may
lead to the negative way a person thinks about others. These stereotypes and misconceptions can be
seen when news stations talk about military, politics, celebrities, and other subjects. The news can
portray them as bad or good people but it all depends on what benefits them or others. This is why
people have different views on certain groups of people, since some people hear different things
than others there is always different stereotypes or misconceptions regarding another group of
people. Stereotypes and misconceptions of a group from others who know little leads to the bad or
good reputation formed by the misleading statements. For example, movies and documentaries such
as 13 Hours and American Sniper portray Navy Seals as tall and really muscular men. The main
characters are almost always the biggest men and most of them have fully grown beards. In most of
the movies these guys in most cases are the heroes. They do the impossible and win in the most
improbable situation, which is probably why people see Navy Seals as the most lethal men in the
Navy. Most people believe that people

history of surfing Essay

It seems to be the best guess that surfing started much like that,
a fisherman catches a lift to shore

Alternatives to Building More Dams
I was intimidated. Actually, let me be honest, I feared a thrashing at the hands of the River God.
Trembling muscles warned me to just shoulder my boat and walk. I couldn't. I traveled all the way
from Pennsylvania to run these rivers, how could I back out now? I had to run Sunshine Falls...the
largest rapid on the Royal Gorge section of the Arkansas River. When would I make it back to
Colorado to run this river? I considered the the portage again; it's an impressive drop with no shame
in walking. But what if they dam the Arkansas?
I had the pleasure of kayaking about fifteen miles of the Arkansas river, in Colorado, this summer.
Flowing from its headwaters near Buena Vista, the Arkansas is a virgin river. Only a trickle ... Show

As dams retain about two– thirds of our consumed water (Conservation Fund, 1984), irrigate farm
lands worth in excess of 9 billion dollars, are visited by almost a billion people a year for recreation
(Bureau of Reclamation, 1991), and provide about a tenth of our countries electrical power t
Statistical Abstract, 1991), it is impossible tG ignore the potential of hydro dams. As dams continue
to be built, and problems still arise with the environment and release schedules, what will we do
then?
Now imagine that we can get all the benefits of a hydropower dam, with fewer or no harms. Imagine
the cheap, on demand power which only hydropower can provide without the threat of a
thermonuclear meltdown. Think of not haggling over the optimum manner in which to handle
release schedules. Picture running that stretch of river without a dam in your way. Envision a future
where American Rivers will no longer have to fight industry and the government over hydropower
dams. That is now more reality than you might expect. Our platform, as supporters of American
Rivers, according to President W. Kent Olson (1989) has been to, "kill bad hydro proposals," and,
"limit acceptable hydro development to places where it will cause the least ecological and aesthetic
damage." For American Rivers, however, a this outdated approach needs to be replaced.
It should not be our job to determine, like utility companies, on which sites a dam causes the

Negative Argument on the Green Movement
Since the start of civilization, people have created large amounts of waste. It was during the prime
of the Roman Empire that people began to worry about where all of this waste was going, and how
it damaged the environment (ProQuest Staff). This was the birth of the Green Movement, which is
the pursuit of methods to positively impact the environment. According to A Rubbish Map, "the
world's cities currently generate around 1.3 billion tonnes of [municipal solid waste] a year". This
information shows that there is still a very significant negative impact on the environment from
human activity in spite of the recent advance of the green movement. Along with this fact of
excessive waste still existing, there are many other reasons the green movement has not yet had a
positive impact on the environment. The three main restrictions to the green movement causing a
positive impact from humans to the environment are continuation of excessive waste in American
cities, lack of effective recycling around the world, and governments restricting the ability of
individuals to live in accordance with the green movement.
In America, according to the American Environmental Protection Agency, the average person
generates 4.4 pounds of solid waste daily (United States Environmental Protection Agency). This
adds up to 250 million tons of solid waste produced in America every year. This total continues to
grow, and it grows fast compared to the increase in American population. America reached

Personal Statement : Child Left Behind
Fourteen
One,
One child,
One child left behind. My life began on a warm September Night in Great Falls, Montana. I was 6
pounds, 12 ounces and as much as everyone knew, I was serene. I was born into a family of
mammoth size. My dad was adopted so technically I had three sets of Grandparents. I also had a
brother, and several Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins. After my birth almost everyone in my family came
to see me. Everyone in my family lived a matter of hours from us so it was easy for them to come.
My family does have some strains now, but as far as I knew, we were content. Two weeks after I
was born, my brother had to go to Spokane to have a surgery on his hip. He had fetal alcohol
syndrome and that caused him to myriads of physical and mental disabilities. My parents left with
my 15 year old cousin for 5 days while they were in Spokane. For the first year in my life, my
parents could rarely see me. They were always back and forth with my brothers doctor
appointments.
Four,
Four years,
Four years of normal. When I was 4, my parents moved us to Hawaii. We lived on the island of
Kauai. They moved me away from our entire family. My family were my whole world. For the 5
months that we were there, we lived in a crappy studio apartment. My brother and I, slept on pool
floats on the floor. It wasn't ideal but we made it work. The week of my 5th birthday we were
evicted from our apartment. In that moment they had to make the strenuous decision of moving us
to Maui. We moved in

Anita Citata Research Paper

  • 1. Anita Citata Research Paper Everything about her feels choreographed to perfection. She wears a tight, black leather jumpsuit while steadying her Honda Grom 250cc motorcycle with poise. As she removes her helmet, dark, messy curls cascade. Her makeup is bolder than normal, resembling an even fiercer version of Marianne Faithfull from La Motocyclette. With heels that could kill, she takes on New York City. At 4'11", she may be the smallest person seen on two wheels. Yet, when she looks into the camera, her petite, porcelain nature transforms into a smoldering goddess. The metamorphosis is even more apparent when she sings: lithe vocals expand among deep, sonorous beats. "I'm Cita Citata," she says. "Dangdut Queen." Cita Citata née Rahayu achieved popularity with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Between September 6–14, 2016, Kidron brought the young Indonesian artist to the United States for her first professional recording session, replete with video and photo shoots. Thus, "NYCita" was born. Over the period of eight days, Cita eschewed delicate pageant gowns for a tight, belted leather jumpsuit, setting off her transformation into an international, world–class dangdut beat. "The style [of dangdut] shouldn't change," she says of her new creative direction, "but it should also adapt to more tastes as well." That's why Kidron and his team specifically chose two renown music producers, JKEY (Beyoncé, The London Symphony, and Alicia Keys) and A&X (Don Omar's "Danza Kuduro," "Taboo," and "Dutty Love"), to help achieve this effect. Known for their abilities to turn world musical influences into delectable beats, JKEY and A&X became the dream team on Cita's newest tracks, "Rude Boy," a Latin–laced cover of the Rihanna original, and "NYCita," a Cita first. The two songs, coupled with JKEY's hip–hop pocket and A&X's deep, tropical pulse, highlight the singer's sinuous vocals, elevating her to Gaga–like, transcendental pop ... • 2. The Complex Issue of Whales in Captivity in Blackfish by... David Kirby's book describes the complex issues of whales in captivity. The death of a SeaWorld trainer brought up many objective reasons of the training practices of this business were not effective at keeping trainers safe in the water. Currently this debate is still being tested in a court of law. OSHA claims that even with the precautions that SeaWorld tries to use, it still cannot guarantee the safety of trainers in the water. This cultural topic has been gaining ground, and recently prompted a movie based off this book titled, Blackfish. The audience of this book includes animal activists, followers of David Kirby, and people that are interested in the topic of killer whales in captivity. Rob Grom was contracted to create a book ... Some people do not want to see the darker side that this book represents, yet Grom's twist of the logos inspires individuals to consider the proposal offered. Grom aims to acquire those people by introducing the friendly whale, casually swimming on the cover. The photographer attempts to draw in the reader, with the subtitle, "SHAMU and The DARK SIDE of KILLER WHALES IN CAPTIVITY." The font is in all caps as if it is screaming to the reader to look at the logos, or the logic of whales in captivity. "Shamu" is SeaWorld's iconic trademark, and a recognized character accepted in the homes of families all over the world. Any person that frequents the park learns that Shamu is a stage name and not the name of any of the whales. The light blue font coming out of the dark blue background symbolizes the truth coming out of the darkness. From a logos side of Grom's argument, one is stimulated to evaluate the claims of whales in captivity. Grom is not attempting to use his own ethos to entice the reader to read the book. Instead, he relies on the credibility of the writer, David Kirby to sell his story. The text on the book draws the reader to notice this writer has other books, Evidence of Harm, and Animal Factory. • 4. history of surfing Essay A Surf Tale An account of surfing's thousand year voyage from the kings of Hawaii, to the surfers exile from society, to the multi–billion dollar industry of today. The Sun's radiation heats the upper atmosphere, sending the energy toward the earth's surface and finally mixes with the planet's counter–rotational currents, creating jetstream flows. The winds flow over the ocean's surface creating friction that spawns chops, pushing up the seas forming perfect bands of open ocean swell. Pushed on by gravitational forces, the swells speed away from the winds that they came from, moving across the deeps until they feel the drag of the shallows near the coast. As the swells rise up out of themselves, they peak, curling into the liquid dreams ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They had perfected the science of celestial navigation and frequently made thousand mile journeys, hitting their target destination perfectly. The Islanders braved the ocean by rowing large canoes made from forest hardwood. They stabilized them with outriggers, enabling the boats to keep from flipping while paddling into the surf. These crafts were propelled by wind being corralled in sails made from pandanus leaves, or when sailing into the wind, they could be rowed with small paddles. The islanders were accustomed to long journeys at sea seeing as these boats were primarily used to venture out on their regular trading routes with other islands, or even on long explorations. It was on these Expeditions that the Ancient Polynesians are believed to have discovered and inhabited hundreds of remote islands, including present day Easter Island and of course Hawaii. It isn't clear how the Polynesians actually discovered surfing, but we can all conjecture. Assuming that these ancient people were familiar with paddling in the ocean, they surely understood that while paddling with a swell, one could feel the next wave building behind them. As the wave begins to peak, it pulls you down, and then draws you up, then allowing one to fall along the face of the wave, skipping forward across the surface. It seems to be the best guess that surfing started much like that, a fisherman catches a lift to shore ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Unwittingly or quite knowingly people have built systems of inequalities around race but people have also built identity, friendships, and college mates around it. Nevertheless, several people I recently interviewed never appeared to be certain when race was a good thing or when it was a bad thing to talk about, which in my mind leaves us all struggling with a particularly intimidating question: When should we talk as if race matters? However, little research has done on various components that influenced a student to choose a country for higher education. In this investigation, I consider a survey approach on students in selected countries about their preferred study destinations, their reasons for studying internationally, their main sources of information on overseas study and their opinions of the U.S. as a potential study destination compared to other key host destinations. Specifically, the quality of education and research opportunities are the two major factors that students consider before choosing the United States as their study destination. • 14. World War I: A Brief Overview and the Canadian Bestowal World War I A Brief Overview and Canadian Bestowal Once the world begins to compete over resources, the first ever depiction of intense greed for power and dominancy was demonstrated in the World War I. The fierce and blood shedding war was a threat for the world peace and international relations. The war did not last for more than four years and three months, beginning from august 4, 1914 till November 11, 1918. But the after effects of the war were a burning question to all the sovereign states of the world. As the war was an attempt of sixty states to oust the 4 empires; the German Empire, the Hapsburg Empire, Turkish Empire and the Russian Empire. In the course of the World War I ten million fighters lost their lives and about thirty million were wounded, besides the valuable lives of the soldiers the war coasted about £ 35,000 million As a matter of a historically acknowledged reality the Paris Treaty gave America everything they wanted because ever since the inception of treaty America enjoyed significant importance. But yet irrespective of the Americas desire Canada did not felled in the array of the American Revolution. A number of reasons were responsible for these acts a few of them are discussed. The most significant reason was the adaptation of the British parliament to the Quebec Act, 1774. According to this act the rights were given to the Roman Catholics and the French language as well as the French civil laws. This induced a feeling among the Canadians ... They are in an uphill battle against a crowd of competing retailers. They are attempting to offer low everyday prices which put them in line with bargain retailers such as Kohl's, and Target, while at the same time attempting to become a more classy, higher end store along the lines of Macy's, Nordstrom, and Bloomingdales. JC Penney views all these companies as competitors as seen in their own proxy statement. JC Penney is not as large as some of its competitors, many of which have more substantial resources and are constantly attacking their market share. The company also faces threats from economic conditions, such as high unemployment and the recent recession. When consumers are under financial pressures can easily decide to shop elsewhere, such as Kohl's, Target, and even the dreaded Walmart. • 17. Computer Science And Telecommunications Equipment Essay Introduction We all have experienced the inconvenience that arises when we start connecting peripherals to a computer, or when we connect other electronic devices, with a lot of cables that becomes difficult to control. Then we start to think how easy it would be if all these connections were done using a different way from the physical cables, like infrareds, radio or microwaves. The companies of computer science and telecommunications needed to develop an opened, low cost interface to make easier the communication between devices without using cables. This is the origin of the technology which key name is "Bluetooth". This is a fact nowadays, but now another problem arises and is that there are a lot of standards and technologies, incompatible between them. What we need now is a universal, valid device for the connection of all kinds of peripheral, and that works in a transparent way for the user. This is Bluetooth. Opposite to other current technologies, like infrared promoted by the IrDA (Infrared Data Association) or DECT, Bluetooth has the support of the industry of computer science and telecommunications, which in some way guarantees the success. • 18. Wal-Mart Supercenters The future growth of the world's largest company hinges on its "supercenter" format, a bold evolution that made it the nation's largest grocer in a few short years. While proposals for big–box retail have long involved politically sensitive trade–offs for planners, supercenters bring these into sharp focus by concentrating substantial wage impacts on one group, grocery workers. The first Wal–Mart Supercenters opened in 1988 which combined the discount outlets and grocery stores (Forsythe, 2003). There had been complaints about the Hypermarts not providing a fully–stocked grocery offering. Wal–Mart attacked these issues by opening five supercenters with better–stocked grocery sections. • 19. Should Victorian High Schools Repeal Vce Exams Should Victorian High Schools Repeal VCE Exams I'm sure every student here today would agree that not having to take VCE exams is a pretty good idea. Repealing VCE exams would be a radical change for any high school. Acknowledgement from your teacher that you already know the material instead of proving that you know how to take a test. High school students face a stressful and strenuous time and are challenged by the vigorous preparation for VCE exams. The 'do or die' VCE exams students face is a crisis time for them, instead of thinking about their graduation. Expecting students to take these exams is unfair due to its numerous reasons of unfairness and should not take place. The Victorian school board should repeal these exams. Students do not learn in the same way, they are individuals. Thankfully for society, students bring to schools all kinds of intellect. Some students excel academically, others are artistic talents and others have vocational talents that VCE exams do not take into consideration or measure. The focus of my arguments for repealing VCE exams is that: Necessary funding for schools consistently rears its 'ugly head' and these exams prove to be very expensive. I believe, very much a waste of money. The money could be better spent on school materials like books, computers, and other necessary supplies. The allocated funding could also be well spent on hiring more teachers, so that classes could be smaller and students receive more individual ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 24. Sexual Assault Has Been The People V. Turner It would be wrong to say violence ends when you turn the television off or act as if injustice didn't exist anymore, but if you reflect back on 2016 so far, one of the biggest topics that often dominates the news and blogosphere concerned the high frequency of assaults on college campuses around the country. In the place where many young adults begin to learn who they are and who they want to be while enjoying a comfortable freedom and safety among their peers discovered freedom and safety could not always be guaranteed. One of the most discussed topics surrounded sexual assault has been the People v. Turner. Brock Turner was an undergraduate student at Stanford University in Northern California when he was apprehended by two Swedish international students who witnessed Turner sexually assaulting an unconscious woman. The students who stopped Turner from continuing to assault the young woman stated that they intervened because they could tell that the woman was clearly unconscious. Turner was then subsequently arrested, charged and indicted on two counts of felony assault and one count of attempted rape. However, it was the consequences that Turner faced for his actions which have upset many. After a jury found Turner guilty of assault and attempted rape Judge Aaron Persky of the Santa Clara County Superior Court sentenced Turner to a meek six months confinement in the Santa Clara County jail followed by three months of probation. These stereotypes and misconceptions can be seen when news stations talk about military, politics, celebrities, and other subjects. The news can portray them as bad or good people but it all depends on what benefits them or others. This is why people have different views on certain groups of people, since some people hear different things than others there is always different stereotypes or misconceptions regarding another group of people. Stereotypes and misconceptions of a group from others who know little leads to the bad or good reputation formed by the misleading statements.

It was during the prime of the Roman Empire that people began to worry about where all of this waste was going, and how it damaged the environment (ProQuest Staff). This was the birth of the Green Movement, which is the pursuit of methods to positively impact the environment. According to A Rubbish Map, "the world's cities currently generate around 1.3 billion tonnes of [municipal solid waste] a year". This information shows that there is still a very significant negative impact on the environment from human activity in spite of the recent advance of the green movement. Along with this fact of excessive waste still existing, there are many other reasons the green movement has not yet had a positive impact on the environment. The three main restrictions to the green movement causing a positive impact from humans to the environment are continuation of excessive waste in American cities, lack of effective recycling around the world, and governments restricting the ability of individuals to live in accordance with the green movement. In America, according to the American Environmental Protection Agency, the average person generates 4.4 pounds of solid waste daily (United States Environmental Protection Agency). This adds up to 250 million tons of solid waste produced in America every year. This total continues to grow, and it grows fast compared to the increase in American population. America reached ... I was 6 pounds, 12 ounces and as much as everyone knew, I was serene. I was born into a family of mammoth size. My dad was adopted so technically I had three sets of Grandparents. I also had a brother, and several Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins. After my birth almost everyone in my family came to see me. Everyone in my family lived a matter of hours from us so it was easy for them to come. My family does have some strains now, but as far as I knew, we were content.
