Literature Is The Mirror Of Life
Literature can be defined in innumerable ways. Any written or spoken material is literature.
Literature is works of creative thoughts and literary skill. Drama, poetry, short stories, fiction and
non fiction are all forms of literature. Moreover, literature is believed to be the message of a writer
s experience of life. Literature is creatively advanced and of lasting quality. Most importantly,
literature is the mirror of life. It helps us to understand those things that are not easily understood
and comprehended that includes pain, hatred, love, death, war, sacrifice, humannature, and more
surprisingly truth. Furthermore, it helps us to understand the power of language.
The famous pioneers of English literature are; the Greek Philosopher Plato, Aristotle and Sir Phillip
Sydney.
According to the famous pioneer of literature, Plato sums it up as:
Literature is the mere imitation of life .
There is high correlation between literature and real life. Life gives the means through which
literature develops in an artistic form. Plato was the first one to give the thought of literature in
relation to the real world. Although, he referred mainly to poetry but what he has said about poetry
can be easily applied to whole literature. Plato s findings are built on his theory of knowledge.
Thus, Literature does ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It tells that humans have a strong need to enhance their existence in their daily lives. It also
explains in this poem that this is done by individuals in their daily lives so that they can
experience more lasting pleasures than the temporarily pleasures. This can be linked to the real
world because today we often come across people who may have no wealth and might have lost so
much in their lives but still they are content with their lives. These individuals are in reality
surviving by living in their own fantasy world in which they are enjoying and seeking

Peoria God s Glory
His Story for God s Glory It is easier to build strong children than repair broken men (Frederick
Douglass) I am a changed man and on a mission to do God s Will. When I was younger, teenager
s decisions were deemed more goofy and thoughtless back then, but today their decisions and
actions are based on hard headedness and anger; so as a community we must work together for
the sake of our youth as well as our society as a whole, communication from all sides is essential
for change and actually following through with what is needed. As resident of Peoria, he grew up
on the Southside and is a strong staple in that community. His unwavering efforts in bringing
attention to community issues remains a prime focus today and he is steadily becoming a
prominent figure, strong organizer and leader regarding the many challenges the City of Peoria
are facing. His efforts in community relations and his activism for peace is a strong stance he has

Online Community Research Paper
Online communities on Tumblr and elsewhere are leading people into dark places that weren t
there before. People are self identifying with depression. They are confusing their normal and
commonplace emotions and feelings of sadness with this idea that they cannot come out of this
dark place in which they are in. Rather than seeking help from loved ones or medical
professionals, they go to these online communities to be understood, but to be understood, you
must be accepted. This is leading young people, especially females, to cut wrists and perform other
instances of self harm, and take pictures to document their feelings. To further their acceptance,
they put quotes like So it s okay for you to hurt me, but I can t hurt myself? and I want... Show more

People use the word depression if they can t find their keys, or if they ve had a fight with their
mother or father, or if they ve had an argument with their boyfriend or girlfriend, if they didn t
make the school team or didn t do well on an exam, says adolescent psychiatry expert Dr. Stan
Kutcher. When we use the word depression for every negative emotional state, the word loses
its meaning. If people are overusing the term depression to describe normal, everyday sadness, it
takes away from those who actually suffer from this disease. As a person who has both a
grandmother, a cousin, and multiple friends who suffer from depression, I feel as though this
term is offensive. The people in my life take regularly prescribed medications from their doctors
or see therapists on a weekly basis to help them deal with their issues that they cannot normally
deal with on their own as most people can. When they are suffering from depression, they cannot
bring themselves out of their sadness and feel better. People who use the term depression to feel
connected and like they belong in Tumblr s world of dark poetry and romantic art do not truly
understand what it is like to feel depressed, and although they may need help, social media is not
the way to do

Students Backpacks In Schools
When in the course of human events, it becomes obligatory for Anaheim High School principal to
contribute new lockers for the use of students. The lockers at school are horrendous. There is food
inside the beaten lockers and are displayed across our campus. This gives our school an
unsatisfactory appearance.
We hold these truths to be obvious, that all students should have the right to use lockers provided
by the school. To lessen the amount of weight on the students backpacks, all students should be able
to keep their sports equipment, dance supplies, band instruments, extra binders, etc... at school in
their lockers without having to hassle through the whole school day without all their school
requirements.

Hip Replacement Research Paper
Over three hundred thousand hip replacements were performed in 2010. A two hundred percent
increase from 2000. The number of replacements has continued to grow as recovery from the
surgery has become much faster. Although recovery time has decreased, patients are still at risk of
infection from their bodies rejecting the metal replacement hip. Infection from the bodies reaction
to the metal hip will soon become a problem of the past as researchers have begun making
replacement hips out of bone like material infused with antibiotics. These new replacements will
allow the body to heal with the new structure instead of fighting the foreign material. Patients will
recover even faster with less chance of infection. Each patient s hip will be custom made to model
the patient s bone with a new technique called Fused Filament Fabrication... Show more content on

The SM process is the complete opposite of AM. During SM, a machine cuts material layer by
layer, leaving the desired shape. The SM machine has three basic components, which are a
movable head, a bit to cut, and the material. To visualize the subtractive manufacturing (SM)
process, imagine making a model car from a stick of butter. Your hands act as the machines head
positioning the butter knife in your hand, which acts as the bit, to make precise cuts into the butter.
You continue to follow the cutting instructions given to you and what started as a block is now a
model car. That s how SM works. Because of SM s extensive use, a standard symbolic language
known as Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD T) has been developed to ensure
manufacturers can fully understand designer s designs. GD T standards for SM specify geometry,
material, tolerances, surface finish, design intent and acceptable variations in geometry. These
standards ensure manufacturers produce products that meet the designers

Burmese Pythons Problems
Burmese pythons are an invading species that are causing problems to the local animal
population, the local ecosystems, and the people in the area of Florida s Everglades. These
snakes are one of the biggest snakes in the world and grow up to be twenty three feet long and
weigh up to two hundred pounds. They are able to hunt in the dark due to the chemical receptors
on their tongues and heat sensors all over their jaw. This is bad for humans, as we cannot see very
well in the dark. This can cause the snake to see us, but us not be able to see them. Without natural
predators, these animals are lean, mean killing machines that can destroy many populations of
animals and stand as a threat to humans.
An invasive species is a species that comes out of its natural environment, and enters another. These
animals are usually very bad for the ecosystem and may cause an unbalance. These animals usually
come in with many competitive advantages and can easily dominate any competition. This will
give them the ability to eat as much as they would like without being threatened in any way. This
could possibly diminish many populations and end an entire ecosystem.
These Burmese Pythons cause problems to three main elements. One main problem that the
Burmese Pythons are causing is a decrease in the local animal populations. These animals have not
been doing very well since the Burmese Python was introduced to the area. A Burmese Python is

Aging Out of the Foster Care System
According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, every year close to 25,000 youth
age out of the foster care system and are faced with cold hard realities of adulthood. This does not
include the youth who leave the system, which is estimated to be another 30,000. Most adolescents
anticipate their eighteenth birthday, as it brings on a new found sense of independence and most
importantly a time of celebration. However when foster children reach eighteen, they begin facing
the challenges of transitioning to adulthood. These children disproportionately join the ranks of the
homeless, incarcerated, and unemployed. These youth are unprepared for the independent life they
are forced to take on. The average age that young adults who have never experienced foster care
leave their family home for good is 24, and 40% return home again at least once afterwards
(Margolin, 2008). With these facts being stated, we yet expect youth who has dealt with rejection
after rejection to leave home of the state custody permanently and fin for themselves. These youth
sometimes have fewer than $250 in cash, only one third have drivers licenses, and fewer than one
quarter have the basic tools to set up a household, let alone the skills to know what to do with the
tools (Krinsky, 2010). Youth exit care with no more than a garbage bag of their belongings, finding
themselves alone at the age of eighteen, with little reason to celebrate what is supposed to be an
exciting milestone

New Guinea Singing Dog Research Paper
1.New Guinea singing dog. The New Guinea singing dog has a life expectancy of about 15 20
years. However, this dog breed is not recommended to become a house pet as it is more
associated with the wild. It lives and thrives better if it is placed in its own habitat. If properly
socialized though, it can be domesticated and tamed to tolerate human companionship and may
even become attached to its owners. It is called as a singing dog because of the unique
characteristic of its howl. It can alter the pitches of its howl making it more like it is singing than
howling. 2.Chihuahua. A Chihuahua is one of the longest living dog ever because it can live

Native American Graves Protection Act Essay
Module 8: Native American Graves Protection Repatriation Act The Native Americans have
been in North America since about 13,000 B.C.E. and even left traces of art in the state of Ohio.
However, those traces have been messed with over the years and an act had to be put in place to
protect their burial mounds in particular. The Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation
Act (NAGPRA) was put in place in 1990 to stop people from removing artifacts out of their graves
without meeting certain requirements and have some of them be returned as well. They do not
want any more disturbances to the burial ground as it is disrespectful to the tribes and it makes it

Other historic and archeological facts can be disturbed by this as well so it is a major issue. An
example of those who would be blamed for the buildings of the mounds in the eighteenth century
would be the Vikings, people from the Lost City of Atlantis, Hindus, or the Lost Tribes of Israel
when it actually turned out to be the Adena Native Americans who did this (O Riley 315).Due to
none of the other Native Americans in the area doing this type of work, it was always thought that
an outside group had done this. However, in the nineteenth century, it became clear that the
Native Americans had done this. An example of a piece that was hard for architects to determine
who the piece was made by was the human effigy pipe (O Riley 315 316). This pipe was dug up
out of the mounds before they had realized that the Native Americans had built the mounds and it
led architects to believing that one of the other groups had made the piece. They were eventually
able to figure out that the Native Americans had made the piece

Hydraulic Fracking And Its Effects On The Nation Of The...
Hydraulic fracturing is either referred to as fracking or hydrofracking. It is a generally new
technique for oil and gas extraction. Basically for shale gas and tight oil, including cracking of
rock by a pressurized fluid. Even penetrating takes into account the infusion of very pressurized
fracking liquids into shale rock layers profound inside the earth. After a well is drilled, it is cased
with bond trying to guarantee groundwatersecurity and the shale is using pressurized water broke
with water, chemicals, sand and other fracking liquids. This makes new channels inside the stone
from which natural gasis removed at higher than customary rates.
The process of hydraulic fracturing shooting water, sand, and chemicals at high pressure into
underground wells to release natural gas is a divisive issue: Some say it dumps chemicals into
ground water supplies, others argue it causes earthquakes, and still others think it can revolutionize
America s energy industry.
The most active fracking plays in the country of the United States. These are the top states in which
hydraulic fracking occurs the most; New York, North Dakota, Montana, Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas,
Colorado, Wyoming and Utah. The largest estimated U.S. oil and gas reserves are in Southern and
Central California in the Monterey shale formation, though producers have faced significant
challenges. The state is being targeted as the site of the next petroleum boom, and the topic of oil
and gas leases in the state

Legal Status of Unions
Legal Status of Unions
Legal Status of Unions
The history of the American labor movement coincides with the development of labor unions in the
United States, from the initial local craft unions like the Federal Society of Journeyman
Cordwainers (shoemakers), to the formation of national unions such as the National Labor Union
(NLU) and the Knights of Labor, creation of the American Federation of Labor (AFL), and the
Congress of International Organizations (CIO), the merger of the AFL CIO, and its breakup through
the defection of the national unions that formed the Change to Win (CTW) coalition (Fossum,
2012, pp. 27 34, 53 54). Paralleling the union development was a series of national labor legislation:

While a labor political party could provide broader support for union members, it would not focus
on the primary concerns of labor members: wages, benefits, and working conditions (Fossum, 2012,
p. 28). While some believe establishment of a labor political party would benefit the labor
movement more than either the Republican or Democratic parties, the reality has never resulted in
an effective national labor political movement (Levitt, 1955). Even national union efforts have not
been entirely effective over time: the American Federation of Labor, the Congress of Industrial
Organizations, the merged AFL CIO, and now the Change to Win coalition (Colorado State
University Global Campus, 2014).
Leading Personalities in Labor Relations Contributing to the Definition of Labor Relations in the

Union through many strikes and helped found the Industrial Workers of the World (Constantine,

a tedious procedure that is exceptionally important. The executive branch such as the president,
House of Representatives and the Senate, will create laws that will better the nation. After the
bill is written, it will then move to the legislative branch who will either pass or deny the bill

Mental Illness In The Movie, The Soloist
The movie The Soloist was very eye opening and inspirational. An L.A. Times journalist, Steve,
comes across a homeless man named Nathaniel playing the violin. He begins talking to him and
Nathaniel seems to talk very fast and continuously rambling on. Nathaniel tells Steve he used to
attend Julliard and play the cello there. Steve begins to do some research and finds out he is
telling the truth. He begins writing a newspaper column on Nathaniel and spends more and more
time with him. An elderly woman was moved by the column and gave her cello to Steve to give

called LAMP, and Nathaniel could stay there or go there when he wanted to play it. Nathaniel was
reluctant at first, but eventually shows up at the shelter. We see flashbacks of Nathaniel s past and
learn that he often hears voices, which greatly affected his musiccareer causing him to drop out of

Analysis Of Gloria Naylor Being A Chink By Christine Leong

Mommy What Does Nigger Mean by Gloria Naylor
Being a Chink by Christine Leong
Questions on Meaning
1. Naylor believes that written language is inferior to spoken language because it cannot capture
the essence of life. For example Naylor writes I consider the written word inferior to the spoken,
and much of the frustration experienced by novelists is the awareness that whatever we manage to
capture even in the most transcendent passages falls far short of the richness of life. Naylor
continues on to comment on the dynamics of dialogue and the senses experienced in each moment
to express the idea that writing can never capture all the thoughts, senses, and environment
occurring when someone is speaking.
2. Naylor never heard the word nigger before until she heard it in the tone that the white third
grader used. She had heard the word before but only when it was used a compliment or for
grouping a group of people. While the white third grader used the negative connotation of it as a
derogatory term to insult her simply based on her race.
3.Naylor means that word nigger was changed from derogatory term used by racist whites to subject
African Americans based on their previous mistreatment to a term used by the African Americans to
each other to compliment one s actions. For example In the singular, the word was always applied
to a man who had distinguished himself in some situation that brought their approval

Comparing Becoming Disabled And The Disremembered
In the two articles, Becoming Disabled by Rosemarie Garland Thompson and The Disremembered
by Charles Leadbeater, both authors write about the differently abled throughout society. Garland
Thompson and Leadbeater both want the differently abled community to be treated more
appropriately in society by delivering evidence through depicting a specific audience and providing
details of their own personal lives to better the differently abled community. Both Garland
Thompson and Leadbeater are writing to describe how to communicate to an audience that is
unfamiliar with the subject of differently abled people. Garland Thompson talks about how people
with disabilityshould be identified (4). For decades, people haven t acknowledged what to call...

Garland Thompson herself is disabled so she understands the struggles people are going through
when she articulates, Because I was born with six fingers altogether and one quite short arm, I
learned to get through the world with the body I had from the beginning (Garland Thompson 3).
Garland Thompson is someone who is an example of being physically disabled. She cannot do
everything that the physically able can do and she embraces that. If one allows disability to stop
them from achieving their dreams, then that disability has conquered them. Leadbeater has dealt
with a similar life not as someone with a disability, but instead someone who has witnessed
someone close go through it. Leadbeater s mother in law, who has dementia, has affected his
understanding of how crippling dementia can be when he pronounces, My mother in law s
narrative of herself has narrowed (9). Leadbeater s mother in law can no longer fully remember
her life, but only certain parts that have come to define her. People like this need to be treated
with a patient attitude. A lot of the time, people affected by dementia will just recite certain things
about their lives and forget the rest. This requires the caretaker of that person to be understanding
and realize that the person they once knew hasn t changed, but rather his/her mind is forgetting
memories but not losing them. Leadbeater does a good job when doing his own research about
the topic of dementia. He talks about that when studying Baldwin van Gorp s opinions on
dementia that Gorp has a good point when talking about that people should do daily mental and
physical exercises so that one s mind can stay fit because down the road, that could make dementia
more tolerable (Leadbeater 3). Leadbeater s research on the subject of

The Relationship Between Troilus And Criseyde
The relationship between Troilus and Criseyde in Geoffrey Chaucer s adaptation of their tragic
love story notably hinges on the perception of Troilus s manhod. The interpretation of Troilus as
a feminized male character, and the consequent view that he was not manly enough to keep
Criseyde as his lover, exemplifies the importance Chaucer places on gender roles in the poem.
Troilus s passive nature, as a result of his lovesickness, led to his failure to obey the normative
masculine patterns of behavior. His lack of action is ultimately the reason why his relationship
with Criseyde fails. While we know the tragic ending to their story is inevitable, Chaucer s Troilus
and Criseydepresents gender as a central cause for its ending. In the first portrait of Troilus, Chaucer
presents us with a manly young knight at ease with his respectable and authoritative position:
This Troilus, as he was wont to gide
His yonge knyghtes, lad hem up and down
In thilke large temple on every side,
Beholding ay the ladies of the town,
Now here, now there; for no devocioun
Hadde he to non, to reven hym his reste,
But gan to preise and lakken whom hym leste (I. 183 189)
Troilus is represented here as a strong leader. He guides the knights through the temple and gazes
at the ladies of the town as he pleases. He mocks the other knights who foolishly fall in love; Troilus
is above that type of behavior. After the God of Love shoots him with his arrow, Troilus becomes
smitten with Criseyde in one

It may continue for up to two years after the operation. Because of the rapid weight loss, health
conditions affected by obesity such as diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, arthritis, sleep
apnea, heartburn, and other conditions often improve quickly. You ll probably also feel a dramatic
improvement in your quality of life.
Gastric bypass also has good long term results; studies have found that many people keep most of
the weight off for 10 years or longer.
The Cons. By design, surgeries like this impair the body s ability to absorb food. While that can
cause rapid weight loss, it also puts you at risk of serious nutritional deficiencies. The loss of
calcium and iron could lead to osteoporosis and anemia. You ll have to be very careful with your
diet and take supplements for the rest of your life.
Another risk of gastric bypass is dumping syndrome, in which food is dumped from the stomach
into the intestines too quickly, before it s been properly digested. About 85% of people who get a
gastric bypass have some dumping. Symptoms include nausea, bloating, pain, sweating, weakness,
and diarrhea. Dumping is often triggered by sugary or high carbohydrate foods, and adjusting the
diet helps. However, some experts actually see dumping syndrome as beneficial, in that it
encourages people to avoid foods that could lead to weight gain.
Unlike adjustable gastric banding, gastric bypass is generally

American Workers Attitudes
Some of the ways the workplace can be changed to better meet the modern worker were
discovered in a survey by Richard Freeman and Joel Rodgers. In their survey they found that
what workers want is more influence at work. They said, that American workers believe that if

but they would also their firms would be more competitive and problems would be solved more
effectively. Also, influence is associated with a wide range of attitudes about work, and that
workers satisfied with their degree of influence report that they enjoy work, have excellent
employee managementrelations, and trust their employer. In contrast workers who lack good

Argumentative Essay: Created by Erik Ziel, 1/10 18/17, per. 2, at Silver Hills Middle School.
Education is necessary but yet many people don t have access to it. This argumentative essay is
about how people are lucky to have an education and that it is needed. First of all, many kids
dislike school, but it is a very important part of one s life and is necessary to be successful (claim
one). My second claim is that many parts of the world don t have education, and even less
classrooms. Last of all, even though that have a education most of the time it is not proper
because of the fact they can t pay to have a proper education (Claim three). First of all, many kids

The Impact Of Unemployment On Aboriginal And Torres Strait...
One social determinant that impacts Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people is unemployment.
According to the Australian Census in 2011, 56% of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander
population in Australia were participating in the labour force, however, 17.2% of this population
were unemployed but seeking employment (Australian Bureau of Statistics [ABS], 2013).
Comparing these numbers to the non indigenous population, the percentage of the indigenous
population in the labour force is significantly lower than non indigenous Australians, with a
difference of 20.5% (ABS, 2013).
Through my learning of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and wellbeing, it was
mentioned that most indigenous people were unemployed or experienced poverty, the statistics
allowed me to put these statements into perspective. Upon learning this I felt quite shocked and
alarmed at the high rates of people that were not working or even trying to find work. It gave me a
better understanding of how seeking employment for indigenous people may be a stressful and
daunting process. But it also made me think on how unemployment can affect the health and

Human Nature Relationship
Throughout today s society there are several different cultural perspectives which form theoretical
and practical understandings of natural environments, creating various human nature relationship
types. In this essay, I will describe and evaluate different ways of knowing nature and the impact of
these views on human naturerelationships. From this, I will then explore my own human nature
relationship and reflect on how my personal experiences, beliefs and values has led me to this view,
whilst highlighting the strengths and weaknesses of each and reflecting upon Martin s (1996)
continuum.
Martin s (1996) continuum is a useful tool which can be used to position an individual s
perspective of nature on a scale from one, seeing nature as an object, to five, seeing nature as a
subject. At the low end of the scale, Martin describes a human nature relationship where nature
purely acts as a playground or gym for humans (Martin, 1996). This relationship type can be
associated with anything where humans have a vantage point (Dyer Gunnell, 1993), and can be
seen within Christianity. The second lowest relationship outlined on the continuum is where
humans begin to see nature as a beautiful and natural place. This view point of nature can primarily
be connected to people viewing national parks as valuable storehouses and museums (Martin,
1996). From this stage of Martin s (1996) continuum, it becomes identifiable that from this point
onward, humans gain more respect, appreciation

Foreign Investment And Expanding Trade Relations
In today s developing economies the competition to attract foreign investment and expanding trade
relations has become the foremost economic strategy to satisfy the quest of the society for rapid
economic growth. The failure of inward looking economic policies to change the trajectory of
decades long stagnated economies forced countries to adopt outward looking trade policies and
market economy. As a result, attracting foreign investment and promoting exports emerge to be the
core economic and trade strategies. Foreign investment is believed to provide multidimensional

The rapid industrialization of developing countries sought to bring about economic convergence
among economies depends on the possibility of free flow production knowledge and information.
At the center of this argument is the externalities that emanate from foreign invested as well as
exporting firms.
The spillover effects that arise from foreign direct investment (FDI) has amassed an extensive body
of literature in the past two decades. Most of these studies focused on the productivity and
knowledge gains towards domestic firms. Such spillovers are thought to arise as a result of
horizontal and vertical linkages between foreign and domestic firms. The early studies
citep{blomstrom, Kokko, sjoholm, haddad, aitken} who follow the pioneering work of cite{caves}
focuses on externalities that affect the productivity of firms within the same industry. A review of
such studies by cite{gorg} pointed out that the evidence for intra industry productivity spillover is
weak or at best mixed.
Unsatisfied with the lack of empirical evidence to support horizontal spillovers the research started
to emphasize vertical linkages between domestic and foreign firms. Amongst cite{javorcik} argues
that previous studies may have been looking for spillovers in the wrong place where foreign
investors have the incentive to prevent information leakage that would enhance the performance of

Comparing The Iliad and The Bible Essay
Comparing The Iliad and The Bible
Throughout recorded history, man has sought explanations for the various phenomena that occur in
every facet of nature, and when no obvious answer is forthcoming, still a theory is often proposed.
These explanatory theories, often taking the form of stories or chronicles, are usually linked to
some sort of mysticism or divine intervention. By ascribing that which he does not understand to
the gods will at work, man avoids facing up to his own lack of knowledge in a given area, and also
draws comfort from assuming that the universe does indeed function under the guidance of divine
beings. Thus the explanatory accounts that man crafts enhance his own security, quelling the fear
of chaos that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In ancient Greek culture the gods were seen as taking a very active role in the development and
course of human history. The entire Olympian pantheon, as well as many other less important
divinities, meddles in human affairs to no end. The people of the many city states that composed
Greece firmly believed that every aberration from normalcy was due to an act of the gods. Homer,
the author of The Iliad, coined the prevalent religious beliefs of the time in his epic poems,
showing the gods as temperamental and willful, meddlesome and dynamic. Homer s entire
poem is replete with instances of divine intervention in mortal lives, and no single major
occurrence comes to pass unless it is the will of one of the many Olympian gods. Few major
decisions are made without consulting the gods first, and the handful of instances in which one
leader or another takes initiative almost always fails miserably. Life, according to the Greeks, is
almost entirely rooted in their religion, as there is a god or goddess governing every aspect of the
universe, and also because the gods so actively involve themselves in the everyday lives of mortals.
A classic example of this divine involvement occurs within the first page of The Iliad. Achilles, the
great hero of the Achaean armies, and Agamemnon the commander in chief of the Argives clash
bitterly, and the entire epic centers on this conflict. Homer details the cause of this

The Strengths of The SMART Inventory System are, the actual database has to be enormous.

This paper takes a look at Evangelism in 2016. It will discuss some views based upon studies of
the Millennial Generation and how they evangelize. Over recent years studies have shown that
although Evangelism amongst some generations seem to be declining. Evangelism amongst the
Millennial Generation seems to be exploding. This paper will generate some personal synopsis
based upon my most recent research. It will answer the question by presenting what some
churches are not doing, to bring us to a place of self examination. This is in no way an exhaustive
study, but one that is presented that has caused the writer to take a second look at Evangelism
within her own call. Christ has admonished us in Mark 16:15 Go into all the world, and preach the
gospelto every creature. Finally, it will conclude with a basic summation on what this writer
believes should be the goals of every born again believer.

act. A serpent is wise, with keen eyesight and is quick to learn. A dove is innocent, meek and
gentle. Jesus saw a necessity in this

Cooling shelters include not only providing access to public cooling spaces, but also encouraging
the utilization of such resources by the homeless. Some cooling spaces include churches,

heat related illnesses and deaths in the vulnerable populations (Eisenman, 2016). This is critical
because there is an association between increase in temperature and cardiovascular mortality
(Eisenman, 2016). This published study showed a negative relationship between heat related
mortality and access to cooling shelters.
It is part of public health nursing to promote prevention. Prevention is essential to prevent heat

Summary Of A City Of Churches
The first example of someone being outside the norms of their community is Cecelia in the story
A City of Churches. The town of Prester was a town filled with churches, Cecelia moves to the
town to open up a car rental shop not realizing how different she was from the people who live
there. She starts to show signs of being different when she says she isn t very religious. Mr.
Phillip s replies with Not now... not yet. In a way, this shows how Mr. Philip s believes Cecelia
will fall into the line of society because as it stands right now she is an outsider coming in. She
stands out again when she requests to live alone instead of like the rest of the community. Mr.
Philip s asks her For what purpose did she want her own home, she responds with there is no
particular purpose, and with that Mr. Philip s says that is not usual in the town of Prester. In this
scene, she also shows how she will not back down or be afraid of Mr. Philip s. This can be seen
when they talk about what she dreams to which she responds mostly sexual things. This
comment seems to throw Mr. Philip s off a bit as he says Prester is not that type of town. She
seems to do this to see how he will react and readers can see that she might even be doing this to
see if he will tell her to leave, or make her leave the town. The fact that Cecelia is being so unusual
and not wanting to live in a church like them, makes them a bit angry. The community doesn t take
her arriving and staying in town very well.

The mythologies of the world are filled with legends of superhuman creatures that roamed the lands
and pillaged the earth in ancient times. Are these characters ancient Frankenstein s imagined to
frighten little cave children into eating their veggies, or where there actually Giant hominids that
were the result of the abominable union of Angels and Women? Because they were half Angel, they
had no need for food yet they constantly hungered for the wealth and flesh of humans. This
insatiable hunger was due to the fact that their Spirits were not of the earth or from heaven, but
organic mutations out of place on Earth and under the Power of Darkness.
In Greek mythology, Giants fought against the Gods in an attempt to take power from Zeus. The
Gigantomachia (Giant War) is a Greek myth about a war for power between the Giants and the
gods of Mount Olympus. Norse Mythology refers to the Giants as the Jotnar that conquered Asgard
in The Battle of Ragnarok. The Hindu gods, The Vedas, came to Earth and their

Occurrence At Owl-Creek Bridge Exposition
Most stories have a simple plot development and setting. They follow the development of
exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, and resolution (also known as Freytag s pyramid).
They also stick to one setting. An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge has a different plot development
and setting changes than most stories because it has two expositions and rising actions, no falling
action, and jumps from setting to setting.
An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge has a different plot development than most stories because it
has two expositions and rising actions. The story starts with a man on a bridge waiting to hang. A
man stood upon a railroad bridge in northern Alabama, looking down into the swift water twenty
feet below. The man s hands... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The story goes to the climax when the man reaches his wife. As he pushes open the gate and
passes up the wide white walk, he sees a flutter of female garments; his wife... The story then
jumps from the climax to the resolution when he sees the light and dies. As he is about to clasp
her he feels a stunning blow upon the back of the neck; a blinding white light blazes all about
him...then all is darkness and silence! Peyton Farquhar was dead; his body, with a broken neck,
swung gently from side to side beneath the timbers of the Owl Creek bridge. There is no falling
action because it jumps straight to the resolution. The reader has no time to process or recover from

A Comparison of Jack London and Stephen Crane.
A Comparison of Jack London and Stephen Crane.
Jack London and Stephen Crane were both well known literary naturalists who died at relatively
early ages. Despite having lived such a short life, Jack London lived a full life. He has achieved
wide popularity abroad, with his work being translated into more than fifty languages, as well as
having written fifty literary works in eighteen years. His stories in the naturalistic mode still
continue to influence writers today. Stephen Crane was also an accomplished writer as well as a
poet. He was among the first to express in writing a new way of looking at the world. Although
Crane is also seen as one of the first American naturalistic writers, a Symbolist, and Imagist, the
achievements which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Imagery is another important element which London uses to illustrate and emphasize his theme.
In To Build a Fire Earl Labor sees the mood and atmosphere, which is conveyed through
repetitive imagery of cold and gloom and whiteness, as being the key to the story s impact (63).
London does rely heavily on imagery to set the mood of the story, and in this way he draws a
picture of the harsh environment that his character must endure. London uses imagery with
such skill that the reader can almost feel the deadly cold of the environment and can almost hear
the sharp, explosive crackle when the man s spit would freeze in mid air (119). Through the use
of such vivid imagery, London guides the reader toward the realization of the story s theme; the
reader can visualize the man losing in his battle with the frost and therefor can picture man in
his conflict with a cruel and uncaring universe (128). Symbolism is also an important element in
To Build a Fire . David Mike Hamilton s criticism, he says the fire symbolizes life as does the
white snow that falls at the beginning of the story. He also views the dark point in the midst of
the stamped snow, foretelling the end of the fire, and thus of life (2). I strongly agree with
Hamilton s criticism; the dark point in the midst of the stamped snow because it not only foretells
the end of the fire but of the end of life itself. Stephen Crane uses numerous techniques to capture
his reader s

Give An Example Of How The Status Of The Family Affect...

2. Give an example of how the status of the family affects the child s socialization. Give an example
of how being the target of bias can affect socialization.
Accordint to the author Gonzalez Mena, The Status that is, the family s position in society affects
socialization and can in turn affect expectations as well as where children find themselves (p.126).
That is, children socialization is greatly affected by the status of the family due to, the different
expectation between children belonging to rich families and that children living in poverty.
Being of target of bias can affect socialization due to the negatives attitudes that it entails.
For example, a child who suffer overweight usually receives harassment and he/she is hardly
accepted in the group.
3. How can a family s income level affect the way its children are socialized?
The income s level affect children scializacion due to they feel not welcome if they do not dress

The Pros And Cons Of Soda Ban
1Why has there been so much fuss about New York City s attempt to impose a soda ban,1 or
more precisely, a ban on large size sugary drinks ? After all, people can still get as much soda as
they want. This isn t Prohibition. It s just that getting it would take slightly more effort. So, why is
this such a big deal?
1 soda ban
In 2013, New York City passed a law prohibiting soda containers larger than 16 ounces in volume.
The New York State Court of Appeals later overturned the law.
2 Obviously, it s not about soda. It s because such a ban suggests that sometimes we need to be
stopped from doing foolish stuff, and this has become, in contemporary American politics, highly
controversial, no matter how trivial the particular issue. (Large cups of soda as symbols of human
dignity? Really?) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It s this common desire to be left alone that prompted the Mississippi Legislature earlier this month
to pass a ban on bans a law that forbids municipalities to place local restrictions on food or drink.
4 We have a vision of ourselves as free, rational beings who are totally capable of making all the
decisions we need to in order to create a good life. Give us complete liberty, and, barring natural
disasters, we ll end up where we want to be. It s a nice vision, one that makes us feel proud of
ourselves. But it s false.
5John Stuart Mill2 wrote in 1859 that the only justifiable reason for interfering in someone s
freedom of action was to prevent harm to others. According to Mill s harm principle, we should
almost never stop people from behavior that affects only themselves, because people know best
what they themselves

Rather than seeking help from loved ones or medical professionals, they go to these online communities to be understood, but to be understood, you must be accepted. Burmese Pythons Problems Burmese pythons are an invading species that are causing problems to the local animal population, the local ecosystems, and the people in the area of Florida s Everglades. These snakes are one of the biggest snakes in the world and grow up to be twenty three feet long and weigh up to two hundred pounds. They are able to hunt in the dark due to the chemical receptors on their tongues and heat sensors all over their jaw. This is bad for humans, as we cannot see very well in the dark. This does not include the youth who leave the system, which is estimated to be another 30,000. Most adolescents anticipate their eighteenth birthday, as it brings on a new found sense of independence and most importantly a time of celebration. However when foster children reach eighteen, they begin facing the challenges of transitioning to adulthood. These children disproportionately join the ranks of the homeless, incarcerated, and unemployed. These youth are unprepared for the independent life they are forced to take on. The average age that young adults who have never experienced foster care leave their family home for good is 24, and 40% return home again at least once afterwards (Margolin, 2008). With these facts being stated, we yet expect youth who has dealt with rejection after rejection to leave home of the state custody permanently and fin for themselves. These youth sometimes have fewer than $250 in cash, only one third have drivers licenses, and fewer than one quarter have the basic tools to set up a household, let alone the skills to know what to do with the tools (Krinsky, 2010). Naylor believes that written language is inferior to spoken language because it cannot capture the essence of life. For example Naylor writes I consider the written word inferior to the spoken, and much of the frustration experienced by novelists is the awareness that whatever we manage to capture even in the most transcendent passages falls far short of the richness of life. Naylor continues on to comment on the dynamics of dialogue and the senses experienced in each moment to express the idea that writing can never capture all the thoughts, senses, and environment occurring when someone is speaking. 2. She had heard the word before but only when it was used a compliment or for grouping a group of people. • 18. The Relationship Between Troilus And Criseyde The relationship between Troilus and Criseyde in Geoffrey Chaucer s adaptation of their tragic love story notably hinges on the perception of Troilus s manhod. The interpretation of Troilus as a feminized male character, and the consequent view that he was not manly enough to keep Criseyde as his lover, exemplifies the importance Chaucer places on gender roles in the poem. Troilus s passive nature, as a result of his lovesickness, led to his failure to obey the normative masculine patterns of behavior. His lack of action is ultimately the reason why his relationship with Criseyde fails. While we know the tragic ending to their story is inevitable, Chaucer s Troilus and Criseydepresents gender as a central cause for its ending. This argumentative essay is about how people are lucky to have an education and that it is needed. First of all, many kids dislike school, but it is a very important part of one s life and is necessary to be successful (claim one). • 27. The Impact Of Unemployment On Aboriginal And Torres Strait... One social determinant that impacts Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people is unemployment. According to the Australian Census in 2011, 56% of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population in Australia were participating in the labour force, however, 17.2% of this population were unemployed but seeking employment (Australian Bureau of Statistics [ABS], 2013). Comparing these numbers to the non indigenous population, the percentage of the indigenous population in the labour force is significantly lower than non indigenous Australians, with a difference of 20.5% (ABS, 2013). Through my learning of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and wellbeing, it was mentioned that most indigenous people were unemployed or experienced poverty, the statistics allowed me to put these statements into perspective. Upon learning this I felt quite shocked and alarmed at the high rates of people that were not working or even trying to find work. • 29. Human Nature Relationship Throughout today s society there are several different cultural perspectives which form theoretical and practical understandings of natural environments, creating various human nature relationship types. In this essay, I will describe and evaluate different ways of knowing nature and the impact of these views on human naturerelationships. From this, I will then explore my own human nature relationship and reflect on how my personal experiences, beliefs and values has led me to this view, whilst highlighting the strengths and weaknesses of each and reflecting upon Martin s (1996) continuum. Martin s (1996) continuum is a useful tool which can be used to position an individual s perspective of nature on a scale from one, seeing nature as an object, to five, seeing nature as a subject. At the low end of the scale, Martin describes a human nature relationship where nature purely acts as a playground or gym for humans (Martin, 1996). This relationship type can be associated with anything where humans have a vantage point (Dyer Gunnell, 1993), and can be seen within Christianity. The second lowest relationship outlined on the continuum is where humans begin to see nature as a beautiful and natural place. This view point of nature can primarily be connected to people viewing national parks as valuable storehouses and museums (Martin, 1996). From this stage of Martin s (1996) continuum, it becomes identifiable that from this point onward, humans gain more respect, appreciation ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

By ascribing that which he does not understand to the gods will at work, man avoids facing up to his own lack of knowledge in a given area, and also draws comfort from assuming that the universe does indeed function under the guidance of divine beings. In ancient Greek culture the gods were seen as taking a very active role in the development and course of human history. The entire Olympian pantheon, as well as many other less important divinities, meddles in human affairs to no end. The people of the many city states that composed Greece firmly believed that every aberration from normalcy was due to an act of the gods. Homer, the author of The Iliad, coined the prevalent religious beliefs of the time in his epic poems, showing the gods as temperamental and willful, meddlesome and dynamic. Homer s entire poem is replete with instances of divine intervention in mortal lives, and no single major occurrence comes to pass unless it is the will of one of the many Olympian gods. Few major decisions are made without consulting the gods first, and the handful of instances in which one leader or another takes initiative almost always fails miserably. Life, according to the Greeks, is almost entirely rooted in their religion, as there is a god or goddess governing every aspect of the universe, and also because the gods so actively involve themselves in the everyday lives of mortals. A classic example of this divine involvement occurs within the first page of The Iliad. Achilles, the great hero of the Achaean armies, and Agamemnon the commander in chief of the Argives clash bitterly, and the entire epic centers on this conflict. Homer details the cause of this ... Imagery is another important element which London uses to illustrate and emphasize his theme. In To Build a Fire Earl Labor sees the mood and atmosphere, which is conveyed through repetitive imagery of cold and gloom and whiteness, as being the key to the story s impact (63). London does rely heavily on imagery to set the mood of the story, and in this way he draws a picture of the harsh environment that his character must endure. London uses imagery with such skill that the reader can almost feel the deadly cold of the environment and can almost hear the sharp, explosive crackle when the man s spit would freeze in mid air (119). Through the use of such vivid imagery, London guides the reader toward the realization of the story s theme; the reader can visualize the man losing in his battle with the frost and therefor can picture man in his conflict with a cruel and uncaring universe (128). Symbolism is also an important element in To Build a Fire . David Mike Hamilton s criticism, he says the fire symbolizes life as does the white snow that falls at the beginning of the story.
