How Did The Reconstruction Era Affect America Today
The reconstruction era was a time that then affected America in positive facets and negative aspects
as well, and still affects America today. Thanks to the reconstruction era, there are several
implementations that geared the world on the path in which it is today. Had it not been for some of
the laws that were set in place African Americans may have not had many of the opportunities that
were presented during the reconstruction period, therefore the years of oppression and cruelty
might still be present. Arguably one of the greatest contributions during the reconstruction era was
the thirteenth amendment. This is the amendment that formally abolished the cruel and unjust acts
of slavery in 1865. The thirteenth amendment states Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude,
except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist
within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction (Primary documents in American
History). The ratification came eight months after the end of the war, but it represented the
culmination of the struggle against slavery. When the war began, some in the North were against
fighting what they saw as a crusade to end slavery. Although many northern Democrats and
conservative Republicans were opposed to slavery s expansion, they were ambivalent about
outlawing the institution entirely (13th amendment ratified). This statement is proof that although
the North was opposed to slavery they were not

Analysis Of The Book The Way Green By John Green
Paper Towns is The New York Times Bestseller, Edgar Award, and Printz Award winning novel
written by John Green. The way Green organizes the book is well simple and well planned and
is simple to follow. The novel is divided into three sections that organize the growth of the story
and plot. I liked the way this was done because it keeps the reader alert and more involved in the
novel. Margo and Quentin, the two main characters in the novel, are childhood friends who
gradually drift apart as they grow older. Everything changes between Margo and Quentin when
they discover a dead man s body. This event transforms their lives and Margo s imagination.
Margo disappears one day after spending a night filled with bold risks with Quentin, and he is
convinced that Margo left him clues to help him find her. Symbolism is shown throughout the
book that helps convey many different meanings of life; and two examples of symbolism include
strings and paper towns. One of the many symbols in the book are strings. This symbol is
connected to several people in the novel and one of them is a dead man named Robert Joyner.
When Margo and Quentin first find the dead body, Margo is not afraid to approach it while
Quentin is scared and wants to leave. They later find out that Robert Joyner committed suicidebut
do not know why. Margo later hypothesizes that, Maybe all the strings inside him broke (Green 8).
The strings represent the sanity of a person and the hope of keeping oneself

Homer s The Iliad
Many great tales of brave men have always been told throughout history. Most famous stories
that are known of brave men took place when wars were fought with swords, and bows, and
halberds, and not with guns, and missiles. Although the best of stories of brave men didn t
always happen in real life but only in the thought of man. Even some great have been made into
plays, movies and shows. In the book writing Homer has always been a great author, and story
teller. Homer has always made stories feel so real, and one of homers best stories The Iliadhas
always been always been told because of it love aspect, its fighting as well as the involvement of
the gods. As with all great stories there must always be some sort of love between... Show more

Although due to all this the Trojans still fight strong, and brave, and many times are strong
enough to push back the Arcadians back to their wall. A Trojan warrior, Poulydamas, suggests
they dismount, and make a massive attack on, foot Hector agrees. After much of a typical back,
and fourth of battle, the Trojans finally drive the Achaeans back within their wall. Just when it
looks like the Trojans are about to breach the wall, an eagle flies overhead, on the left (this was
viewed as unlucky), and carrying a snake. The snake is still alive, and keeps biting the eagle
until it finally lets it go. Poulydamas urges Hector to treat this as a bad omen, and not attack the
Achaean ships (Shmoop editorial team). But unlucky for the Trojans, the Greeks had the greatest
fighter of them all, Achilleus, and have a great vendetta for the Trojans, for killing his best friend
Patroklos, but by enraging the great warrior Achilleus is to be the greatest mistake that the Trojans
had done. Even thought that every man in the fight has free will the gods had already chosen who
will win the war. Although the people have control of what happens in the war, the gods are the
ones with the final say on who wins the war. Even though the gods are supposed to be neutral in
the affairs of man, in this war the gods broke the trust and intervened in the affairs of man. Although

How Tenyson Describes The Eagle
How Tenyson Describes the Eagle
In verse 1, line 1 he describes the eagle as being harsh, violent and rough by using alliteration in
the words clasps , crag , and crooked . He uses onomatopoeia also in these words to get over the
violentness of the bird and also its rough environment. When using the phrase crooked hands
Tenyson is describing how the shape of the claws are crooked but when he used the word hands
instead of claws this is implying the eagle has god like qualities.
The phrase close to the sun has connotations of the bird being god like (because some religions
worship the sun like a god). The sun also has connotations of energy and strength implying the bird
has these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In line 5 Tenyson says he watches from his mountain walls . Tenyson describes the walls as his
making it sound as if the eagle owns the mountains and its his territory. This furthers the idea of the
eagle being powerful.
In the last line of the poem Tenyson says And like a thunderbolt he falls
This is saying how the eagle can fall effortlessly like a thunderbolt, which shows how much power
the eagle holds.
What did Cowper think of Tiney?
Cowper is obviously very fond of his pet hare, Tiney. He is very protective over it; this is shown in
verse 1 of the poem
Here lies, whom hound did n er pursue,
Nor swifter greyhound follow,
Whose got ne er tainted morning dew,
Nor ear heard huntsman s hallo ==================================
Cowper is saying that his hare has never been let into danger, and his feet have never even touched
the morning dew . This shows that Cowper cares for Tiney and will not let him come to any harm.
In the second verse Cowper describes how he raised the hare like one of his children, but even
though Cowper was trying to raise the hare like he was the hare still had a wild streak in him.
Old Tiney, surliest of his kind,
Who, nursed with tender care,
And domestic bounds confined,
Was still a wild

The Psychological Characteristics Of Breast Cancer
It has long been known that certain physical characteristics are biologically determined by genetic
inheritance. Color of eyes, straight or curly hair, pigmentation of the skin and certain diseases (such
as Huntingdon s chorea) are all a function of the genes we inherit. Other physical characteristics, if
not determined, appear to be at least strongly influenced by the genetic make up of our biological
parents.
Height, weight, hair loss (in men), life expectancy and vulnerability to specific illnesses (e.g. breast
cancer in women) are positively correlated between genetically related individuals. These facts have
led many to speculate as to whether psychological characteristics such as behavioral tendencies,
personality attributes and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However nativists also argue that maturation governs the emergence of attachment in infancy,
language acquisition and even cognitive development as a whole.
At the other end of the spectrum are the environmentalists also known as empiricists (not to be
confused with the other empirical / scientific approach). Their basic assumption is that at birth the
human mind is a tabula rasa (a blank slate) and that this is gradually filled as a result of experience
(e.g. behaviorism).
From this point of view psychological characteristics and behavioral differences that emerge
through infancy and childhood are the result of learning. It is how you are brought up (nurture) that
governs the psychologically significant aspects of child development and the concept of maturation
applies only to the biological.
For example, when an infant forms an attachment it is responding to the love and attention it has
received, language comes from imitating the speech of others and cognitive development depends
on the degree of stimulation in the environment and, more broadly, on the civilization within which
the child is reared.
Examples of an extreme nature positions in psychology include Bowlby s (1969) theory of
attachment, which views the bond between mother and child as being an innate process that
ensures survival. Likewise, Chomsky (1965) proposed language is gained through the use of

The Labor Relations Act Of The Senate
Introduction Today s economic climate has lost and shed more jobs than ever. Organizations
need unions to survive and a process to keep them. Under the present conditions, unions need to
embrace revolutionary change. They need to experiment with innovative models and build on
existing ones that have already proven their value that works for workers, business, and overall
society. Today s Economic Climate with organizations that unions no longer survive in In the fall
of 1934 Senator Wagner introduced the National Labor Relations Act in the senate. On July 5,
1935, President Franklin Roosevelt signed the National Labor Relations Act. This act was put
into place to help unions survive, under the section 7, it gave employees the right to form and join
unions and it obligated employers to bargain collectively with unions in a selective manner.
Although, the future of organized labor in the economy today looks grim, the unions will have to
do whatever it takes to help keep contribute to a healthy economy. They will have to do use
whatever form it takes to help with the decline in private unions as well. In the past decades,
unions have stood to fall by the wayside, due to the contributing factor of the National Labor
Relations Act (NLRA). They do not adapt to external factors, such as competition and productivity
in the global economy. These factors are a problem for unionism by themselves. The current state of
the NLRA has magnified their effect.

Medea Video Project Analysis
The Medean Hillbillies Euripides Medea is classified an ancient Greek tragedy. However, this story
is much more than a tragedy. The story of Medea is one that definitely grabs the reader s attention
through both its text and its themes. The themes that the story of Medea presents are very practical
and still continue to exist in humanity today. The three largest and most obvious themes that a
reader is most likely to find and relate to while reading Medea are revenge, manipulation and
passion. These three themes are not only apparent in the story of Medea; they are obvious in our
video version, entitled The Medean Hillbillies, as well. Revenge is a common theme that occurs in

Medea manipulates the Princess in giving her a precious gift which readers quickly find out is
actually a gift of poison and would kill the Princess. Not only does Medea manipulate the
Princess, King Creon, and her two children but she also manipulates King Aegeus. Medea takes
advantage of Aegeus soft heartedness personality to gain an advantage and support from him
(Borey). In the end, Aegeus sides with Medea and the two leave the city together. Manipulation
is very visible in our hillbilly version of Medea. Medea manipulates her children by tricking
them into going fishing with her. The children are looking forward to an enjoyable fishing trip
with their beloved mother, away from their father. Medea manipulates them at the beginning of
the fishing trip as they discuss the nice weather, and express their feelings of despair towards
Jason. The children are very unaware that Medea will soon be throwing them overboard to
drown. Medea also illustrates her manipulation through the Messenger as she sends what she
refers to as a precious gift to the Princess. This precious gift is actually a death sentence as it is a
poisoned necklace. When the Messenger arrives and gives the necklace to the Princess she is
overjoyed. However, the Princess immediately dies as the Messenger places it upon her neck.
Again, Medea successfully uses manipulation to complete an act of murder. The final scene in our

Child Sexual Abuse And The Community
Mezzo Perspective
According to Simmons University, Mezzo Social Work involves working with small to medium
sized groups or organizations such as schools, community service organizations, or businesses to
promote cultural or institutional change (Social Workers, 2016). In other words, it is working with
the community. Child Sexual Abuseimpacts the community in several ways, such as through fear,
confusion, as well as economically. Though the abuse might only physically affect one person, it
could still greatly impact everyone else.
The first way that Child Sexual Abuse affects the community is through fear. Sometimes families in
communities have an ideal idea about their identity and if something, such as Child Sexual Abuse
happens in a family in that community, it could disrupt the foundation. According to the
organization, New York Alliance against Sexual Assault, The community s reluctance to interfere in
private family matters, and the desire to maintain the illusion of family as a safe unit, hides and
condones the widespread incidence of Child Sexual Abuse (Adult Survivors, 2015). Therefore,
Child Sexual Abuse occurring in the community is fearsome, because it disrupts the conceived
notions about the community. Another reason Child Sexual Abuse brings fear into the community
is because often Child Sexual Abusers have more than one victim. According to the organization
Child Safe House, Nearly 70% of child sex offenders have between 1 and 9 victims; at least 20%

Beverage Choices Of Bottled Water Essay
We are a 24/7 on the go society who wants convenience in our beverage choices . Kim E. Jeffery,
CEO of Nestle Waters North company, made this comment in representation of the largest leader in
the bottled water industry. It is no wonder how bottled water became so popular in our society.
Healthier than soda, bottled wateris conveniently stored in a lightweight, disposable, plastic
bottle. Bottled water sales started when Perrier glass bottled water came overseas to America in
the late 1970 s and in 1989, water was available in PET plastic bottles (Tapped). Now everywhere,
bottled water can even be found in high school cafeterias while there are water fountains located in
nearly every hall. However, there is an opposing view to the product with names such as Ice
Mountain, Aquafina, Dasani, Sam s Choice, and Acadia. Through research, bottled water is known
to carry human pollutants, exceed other natural resource costs, and take part in a large portion of
plastic waste, all in a sixteen ounce plastic bottle. Although bottled water is convenient in only a
few cases, public education and legislation are necessary because of the human pollutants, costs,
and waste.
Bottled water is becoming such a growing industry because it does show to be convenient in
some cases. As Kim E. Jeffery states, Bottled water provides a healthy alternative at a time when
obesity is a growing problem ( Success ). With companies like Coca Cola, Pepsi, and Nestle, bottled

Water or (H20, or H0H) is one of the most abundant important molecule on Earth. Water is the

The unequal sharing of the oxygen and hydrogen atoms is called polar. A polar molecule is a
molecule made up of two different atoms which have asymmetrical distribution around the
molecule, this implies that the molecule has a slightly negative and positive charge at each ends of
the molecule. The end which is more electronegative has a slightly negative charge (Оґ ) and the
side with the less electronegativity has a slight positive charge (Оґ+). Polar molecules tend to have
a greater electronegative difference of 0.5 and less than 1.6. In order for a molecule to obtain
polarity, the two molecule has to have a net pole and dipole moment, where a separation of the
charge of the molecule go into a positive area or a negative area. The dipole moment can be
visualised by drawing an arrow from the positively charged side to the negatively charged side, in
a polar molecule the arrow points towards the same direction, whereas a nonpolar molecule has
arrows pointing in different directions. Molecules which possess both an asymmetrical
electronegativity and geometry is classified as a polar.
Water is a special type of covalent bond called a hydrogen bond, this bond is similar to dipole
dipole forces but has a greater intermolecular force. A hydrogen bond is the intermolecular force of

Understanding Thermal or Solar Heat Gain Coefficients
In order to understand the word thermal within a building, then SHGC which is solar heat gain
coefficients had to be known to known the property of thermal insulation and conductivity in a
whole manner. Solar heat gain coefficient is widely use in the United State in designing building.
SHGC may refer to the transmittance of solar energyof windows or even walls, every object can be
evaluate by using solar heatgain coefficient method by knowing the properties of each material.
If a material have high solar heat gain coefficient, then the material is a good absorbent of solar
heat. For material that is black in colour, inevitably it absorb heat faster because of the colour
doesn t reflect the wavelength that comes directly from the source of light. So, low e components
of a building that comes with low solar heat gain coefficient will reflect and keep heat source that
came from sunaway from the house and that will probably makes a house cooler. Solar heat gain
coefficient usually dealt with windows that possess a low e property. Low e may regard to the
emissivity of one s material. Nowadays window mostly is transparent, and that makes it vulnerable
for sunlight to penetrate easily into a house without any reflection. We have to be notice that if a
window is place facing the unsuitable direction such as west or east, it will have an adverse effect
towards the thermal comfort of a house especially terraced house in Malaysia that cant undergoes

The table below further illustrates the funding levels available and pledged to produce this
documentary. There are several reasons crowdfunding is advantageous to businessprofessionals. In
today s economy, it can be difficult for entrepreneurs to find funding in the traditional manner of
applying for a loan with a business plan and getting approved. In 2012, the total number of loans
and money distributed in the U.S. via the Small Business Administration has dropped as much as
20% (Prive, 2012). An extremely high percentage of business plans received are rejected.
Crowdfunding offers an alternative that helps businesses ventures obtain funding. Crowdfunding
reduces risk, can assist in product improvement, identifies customers, and provide free publicity.
One of the most appealing benefits of crowdfunding is that it, for the most part, comes with little to
no cost. Crowdfunding allows entrepreneurs to gain funding for products without the need to give
up equity before turning a product concept into a product available in the marketplace. It is not
uncommon for new business owners to fail to account for every possible pitfall in the early stages
of operating a small business. By having a crowdfunding campaign, the entrepreneur has the ability
to engage the crowd and receive comments, feedback, and ideas (Prive, 2012). People who
contribute pledges to the campaign are future customers for the business. These donations come

The Amendment Of The 14th Amendment
Paper #1 Essay Question #2 Imagine living in a world where everyone was considered equal.
Imagine living in a world where people were considerate of others. Imagine living in a world where
everyone had the same rights and privileges. The Framers took a step at achieving this world with
the passage of the 14th amendment. The intent of the 14th amendment was to prevent state
governments from denying African Americans in the U.S. from their citizenship. At the time
Africans were unable to attain citizenship because of their skin color. The Framer s objective in
formulating the 14th amendment was to grant citizenship to everyone born in the U.S., regardless
of skin color. The 14th amendment expanded the protection of civil rights to all citizens in America.
Barron V. Baltimore (1833) is a significant case in history because it concluded that the fundamental
rights provided by the Bill of Rights were not guaranteed by the state. The U.S. Supreme Court
ruled in favor of Baltimore, concluding hat the 5th amendment was limited and should be followed
by the Federal government. Through this case, Supreme Court Justice John Marshall declared that
the Bill of Rights applied to the federal government, not including the states. According to Section 1
of the 14th Amendment, government laws must not abridge upon the life, liberty, or property on an
individual without just cause . Because of the Due Process Clause in the 14th amendment, the

Thank you for Smoking (Rhetorical and arguments analysis)
Introduction
The film Thank you for Smoking is a dark comedy where the primary protagonist, Nick Naylor is a
lobbyist. He talks for the cigarette industry and will not extra the American Authorities or even the
press. At the in advance, the film prominently tackles all these topics but deep down it also
portrays the partnership between a dad and a son.
Rhetorical and arguments analysis
In a single conversation between a father and a son, Naylor coaches his son Joey by telling him the
beauty of argument: if you argue correctly, you re never wrong . This depicts a framework of Nick
s personality and probably explains the reason why as to the reasons he will not lose quarrels. It is
because he reframes the discussion till he wins. Also the film shows a significant critique posed by
the culture. They are the capabilities which run the federal government and the industry and are
engrossed in doing offers rather than bothering about the stakes. In the chat show, Nick wins the
debate by announcing the release of the $50 million marketing campaign to dissuade teens from
smoking. However, the Captain when hearing concerning this advertising campaign remarks I wish
the marketing campaign is not too effective! The Captain just hopes that the campaign will not
effectively stop teenagers from being conscious of cigarettes rather than even start

short period of time. The typical driving lessons would take few weeks to mouths to finish;
intensive driving lessons, on the other hand, is especially similar to an intense training that is
finished within weeks. Since the lessons over a drawn out stretch of time is confined into week, the
lessons for intensive driving regularly goes on for up to eight hours per day for five back to back
days.
You had a driving lesson, yet there are still limitations that have been set for you. Spots where
you are restricted to drive. Indeed, that may sound a little bit not good for you. The power of
your needing to drive gets high however all of a sudden flanked off due to those restrictions. But
don t you stress. No compelling reason to get sad. there s this intensive driving lessons deeds
planned for you, or friends, young person little girls and sons maybe who are with everything that
is in them exceptionally anxious to get in out on the open road.
What I m specifying is the Intensive driving lessons deeds principally intended to structure lessons
on students who need to naturally flaunt their driving abilities and instantly attempt off the
occupied and challenging open roads. Most driving schools who offers this sort of program has a
concentrated one hour free driving lessons. That is to frame out appraisals on drive by the instructor

Critical Analysis Of Starkie
The adaption of character James Douglas Stark known as Starkie, a non fictional war
serviceman becomes a conflict for the omnipresence of nationalism in New Zealand literature of
the 1930s. Robin Hyde adopts a realist approach to James Mulgan s Man Alone; by developing
the article Starkie Outlaw of N.Z.E.F. into the novel Passport to Hell. Passport to Hell is used to
defer from the standard Kiwi bloke stereotype, by retelling Starkie s a man who was not typically a
herowar experience. Starkie does not fit the stereotypes of either MДЃori or PДЃkehДЃ,allowing
Hyde to go outside the terrain of New Zealandliterature s nationalism. Therefore, Starkie portrays a
reality for the outsider in New Zealand society in the 1930s. Hyde ... Show more content on

Evidently because Starkie is not a standard example of the Man Alone represented by John
Mulgan, Denis Glover and Frank Sargeson. Hyde breaks the Marxist stereotype of a heroic
masculine figure in Passport to Hell because Starkie is a character who exemplifies perversity. Hyde
provoked conspiracy simply by prevailing a realistic replication of a soldier: the soldier was not
the typical heroin executed in literature. This representation is evident in language and Starkie s
interactions, with characters such as Captain Smythe. Diction in this interaction labels Starkie
as an outsider at first impression. After one glance at Starkie s rifle, Captain Smythe told him he
was a disgrace to Otago, no soldier, and a bloody pest (Hyde, 114). Furthermore, Captain
Dombey labels Starkie as the biggest, laziest, rottenest, most troublesome (Hyde, 141) because
of the associations with his skin colour and behaviour. Although Dombey admits Starkie is one
of the best soldiers he has ever had in the trenches (Hyde, 141). Hyde is clearly an example of the
colonial dilemma in literature, and as a result her work never received the attention it deserved
(Bertram, 16). Critics and fellow writers saw Starkie as a formidable rebel against NZ society
(Bertram, 16), rather than worthy of appraisal through Hyde s portrayal. Bertram ultimately
exclaims that the final estimate of Hyde s merits as a writer

San Tan Valley Advertisement Analysis
The small town of San Tan Valley is plagued with horrible traffic, and it has become an enormous
burden to its residents. The town has three entrances however it seems that everyone has
simultaneously chosen one of the entrances to bombard causing havoc. According, to
Suburbstats.org, the population of San Tan Valley is 81,000 people. It is imperative that we
choose are entrances wisely otherwise this madness will continue. I used pathos to persuade my
audience, the residents of San Tan Valley, into making more strategic and beneficial choices on
the roads to take on their local commute. The top half of my ad has a very frustrating, angry tone.
To many drivers the sight of bumper to bumper traffic is extremely aggravating, and very
disappointing. By using that picture it sets the mood, and gets the audience thinking about how
horrible the traffic is. I specifically chose a warm red color for my text, because red is as very
sharp serious color. It calls for action, usually portraying the message to stop. We associate red
with that meaning due to common objects like stoplights, stop signs, and headlights. I also added
in a STOP sign near the top right corner of the ad The STOP sign pairs nicely with the tone of the
top half. Due to the way our brains associate the image of the sign, it will... Show more content on

The Battle of Stalingrad Led to a Significant Loss to the...
Stalingrad was a battle during World War II started on June 22 1941 that eventually led to a
significant loss to the Axis forces. The battle started as retaliation from Adolf Hitler after his
defeat in the Battle of Barbarossa. The Battle of Stalingrad was a battle of pride, morale and not
based off of any tactical or strategic advantage. The battle raged on in four main operations that
lasted only 199 days. This loss in Stalingrad dealt a significant blow to the Axis Powersthat would
lead to the overall defeat of Adolph Hitler and his military during World War II. Operation
Barbarossa; initiated by the Axis powers and they quickly advanced deep into Russia. The Axis
Powers believed they could defeat the Soviet Unionas soon as the winter had passed but they began
receiving heavy attacks during the winter with as much as 65% of the infantry being attacked.
The Axis Powers had time to re equip and rest their forces prior to the end of the winter. Moscow
was the end state for the operation and the Axis Powers used a Blitzkrieg style of warfare to
attack the least obvious Point of Entry. Adolph Hitler expected the Soviet Union to surrender as
soon as the end state became successfully captured. Hitler understood that taking Moscow would
be very costly to his Armies. Hitler developed a plan to cut the Soviet Union of their fuel by taking
the Caucasus Oil Fields. Operation Blau had the goal of capturing the Caucasus oil fields then

Friendship and money is like oil and water. Money and friendships don t mix like oil and water.
People tend to put their wants before needs. This can lead to many bad consequences. Imbalance
in want and need can cause you to lose things important to you. An imbalance in want and need is
shown in the stories The Necklace , The Golden Touch , and King Midas. In The Necklace, there
are many examples of imbalance in want and need. The wife in the story is one example of the
imbalance. The wife loved money and had the mindset that you could only be happy if you have

My Aspirations For This Class
Personal Statement
My aspirations for this class originally was to study and learn the history of the Romans, in
particular the Roman Republic Era, but when I learnt that we were to study Greek culture and
society, I was disappointed. Although the class had surprised me and intrigued me, I still was still
fascinated and oblivious to Roman history. Therefore I chose Pompey, a famous general and great
rival of the legendary Caesar. Other than these two statements, I had not known any background
information on Pompey.
My only real primary source, Plutarch, was a very direct and informative source, but lacked in the
areas which would have helped my report. Plutarch retold Pompey s life from beginning till end,
but did not give any biased ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I found I had to sift through a lot of information about his military efforts before I could get to his
political actions, which in comparison were short. I overcame this by choosing to rely on the texts
and Plutarch, and if I found information coming from other sources which support that, I would
use it. If I found new information that wasn t found in the texts, I would not use it. This was my
tactic to play it safe and not give out false information and perspective views.
My main problem when writing the report was that I had introduced too much of the historical
side of Pompey, and ignored his influence on to society, or the society itself, which is the core of
this report. I worry that even my final draft is still too much like a biography than a report.
I had to also study other important individuals such as Sulla, Caesar and Crassus, all who is just
as difficult to study as Pompey. I found that more information about the political ambition of
Pompey was given through texts about Caesar than texts about Pompey himself. This was
probably because Pompey was a military minded individual, while Caesar relied on politics and the
people for his power.
My opinion on Pompey was that he was too hasty and was not aware of the consequences for his
actions. This would specifically affect me, for I too can relate and say that I am very boisterous
and rash, do first

The Muslim-Christian Response To The Crusades
Rich in delightful episodes and dramatic events, spread over two centuries and three continents, the
Crusades were one of the fascinating events of Muslim Christian encounters. The Crusades
constitute a series of almost two century long military campaigns (1095 1291) conducted by the
Christians of Western Europe against the Muslims in the land of Palestine and the eastern
Mediterranean coastal strip. The Christian aim was to wrest the Holy Land, Jerusalem, from the
Muslims. Annoyed, angered, frightened, and disgusted by the presence of uninvited aliens in the
midst of their cultures, the Muslim response to the Crusadeswas initially one of intermittent,
unorganised, and disrupted by a preoccupation with internal problems. Later Muslims, however,...

The concept is widespread and deep rooted both in the modern Islamic political ideologies and the
Christian Europe. Since the historic significance of the Crusades during the first half of the second
millennium CE cannot be denied by either the Muslims or Christians. However, it may be argued
that the Muslim interest in the Crusades has been more a matter of curiosity than a sense of the
relevance of these events in modern times. For the Christians of Western Europe, it seems that these
events are still pertinent to their lives and thought, because the concept behind them evokes a
feeling of service to God and righteousness. In the twentieth century, the Arab world rediscovered
the Crusades, viewing them as symbols for current political problems. Some saw the medieval
Crusading states as protocolonists , the precursors of Napoleon in Egypt, the British Mandate for
Palestine, the state of Israel, and the invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq. The Crusades marked the
initial phase of Western imperialism in the region (isti mar mubakkar or premature imperialism).
For other Muslims, the Crusades have been seen in religious terms, as part of a continuing conflict
between Christianity and Islam. The brutality of their campaigns, particularly in comparison with
the noble reputation of Ṣalāḥ al Dīn Ayyūbī, continues to colour Muslim perception of
the Christian West. One Arab intellectual, AmД«n

Taking a Look at the Russian-Ukraine Conflict
The conflict stems from the result of the Government s decision to turn down the European Union
proposed association agreement in 2013 and instead Ukraine s President Viktor Yanukovych
accepted fifteen billion dollars in aid and other economic benefits from Russian President Vladimir
Putin. For years Ukrainianshave yearned for economic reform that would seek to open new trade
and economic ties with Western European countries. President Yanukovych s decision to reject the
EU s proposal ignored the feeling of the majority of Ukrainian citizens and further solidified the
sentiment that their government was strengthening ties with Russiaand not with the west. President
Yanukovych actions spawned unrest among the Ukrainian people, forcing them to condemn and
denounce their corrupt government and to question their Presidents legitimacy. This pushed an
already fractured society into the streets of Kiev, the capital of Ukraine to protest their
disapproval. In response President Yanukovych ordered riot police and military personnel to move
into cities throughout Ukraine in order to squash any dissent. Clashes between opposition and the
government slowly escalated over a two month period, in February the death toll for protesters in
the city of Kiev rose into the hundreds. On February 21 members of the opposition overtook the
capital and the Presidents Yanukovych residence, forcing him to flee to Russia to avoid charges by
the opposition of murdering protesters. Russia

The camera shoots the shot through the paper weight as the nurse comes in.
These direction techniques create a lot of tension because up to the point where the word
Rosebud comes out of Kane s mouth there is a lot of tension and suspense because we are
wondering who is behind the castle, and the camera doesn t give anything away. And to create
further tension and a man says Rosebud and we have no clues. In the second sequence we find
out more about Kane himself, exactly how important he was. In the second sequence we find
out Kane is globally well known as newspapers all over the world wrote his death as front page
news. We also find that he was in politics, the media and into forestry and doubled ownership.
Kan s image is his biggest selling point. In this sequence we find out that Rosebud was Kane s last
words, and that someone s last word could say a lot about the person.
Rosebud sets up the narrative motivation in that the audience and Mr Thompson want to know
what the meaning behind Rosebud is, what was on Kane s mind at his last breath. There is a brief
mention of sled to give the audience another subtle clue. Rosebud sets up the structure in that
Thompson, the man in charge of Kane s life story is now on the search of the meaning of Rosebud.
I think Thompson is kept hidden in the dark because he s not an important; he s

Indian Caste System
The Indian caste system describes the system of social stratification and social restrictions in India
in which social classes are defined by thousands of endogamous hereditary groups, often termed
jДЃtis or castes. Within a jДЃti, there exist exogamous groups known as gotras, the lineage or clan
of an individual. In a handful of sub castes such as Shakadvipi, endogamy within a gotra is
permitted and alternative mechanisms of restricting endogamy are used (e.g. banning endogamy
within a surname).
The Indian caste system involves four castes and outcasted social groups. Although generally

Hart stated that the earliest Tamil texts show the existence of what seems definitely to be caste, but
which antedates the Brahmins and the Hindu orthodoxy . He believes that the origins of the caste
system can be seen in the belief system that developed with the agricultural civilization , and was
later profoundly influenced by the Brahmins and the Brahmanical religion . These early Tamil texts
also outline the concept of equality. Saint Valluvar has stated pirapokkum ella uyirkkum , which
means all are equal at birth . Likewise, Saint Auvaiyaar has stated that there are only two castes in
the world: those who contribute negatively and those who contribute positively. From these
statements, it can be inferred that the caste system is a socio economic class system.

Point Of Literature Essay
The point of literature
Personally, I think the point of literature is entirely subjective. Even the definition of literature
can be interpreted differently. In class just now, it was defined as written works with artistic
value, which I agree with to some extent, but then again, what does and doesn t constitute as
artistically valuable is also subjective. I feel like I m on a fast track to my history and philosophy
class here, being all like everything is subjective, nothing is real . The point, the purpose, the goal
of literature can be so many things. In earlier human evolution, the Homo Sapiens ability of more

The Structure and Function Of Arteries, Veins and Capillaries
The Structure and Function Of Arteries, Veins and Capillaries
In its route from the heart to the tissues, the blood passes through channels of six foremost types:
elastic arteries, muscular arteries, arterioles, capillaries, venules and veins. I intend to explore the
structure and function of arteries, veins and capillaries. When an artery branches into smaller and
smaller vessels, eventually the blood vessel is too small to see with the naked eye. At that point, it
is called an arteriole. Likewise, a venule is a microscopic vein.
Arteries
All arteries are comprised of three different layers but the proportion and structure of each varies
with the size and function of the particular ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Arteries, because of their elastic nature can stretch with systole or relax with diastole. Their
elastic property allows the arteries to oppose the force of the flow. The arteries can control (help
form a pulsatile) the flow so that when blood reaches the arterioles and eventually the capillaries
the stream of blood is milder. The wall of the arterioles contains less elastic fibres because the
blood pressure within the arterioles is lower. Arterioles have more smooth muscle cells than large
arteries, which allow blood to pass through them and on to the capillaries efficiently because
friction is reduced.
Veins =====
Veins and venules are similar in structure to arteries and arterioles, however veins have a wider
inner diameter, which means that they can hold a larger volume of blood. Since it would be
unworkable to get all the blood back to the heart as quickly as it left the heart (because there is no
pumping mechanism to do so); veins have to be able to hold more blood than arteries. The veins
provide a storage area for our blood, which is why the diameter of the veins is larger than the
artery diameter. At any given time, the majority of our blood is within our veins.
Veins have a thinner smooth muscle layer that allows for the expansion of the vessels and minimize
resistance by reducing

X-Ray Research Papers
Using X rays for medical imaging is one of the most useful pieces of medical technology
available when trying to determine and locate, the type and severity of a particular injury. X rays
are a form of electromagnetic radiation similar to visible light. However, unlike visible light x
rays can pass through most objects, including the body (NIBIB, n.d). The radiation hits a detector
on the other side of the patient and the image produced is a shadowed representation of the tissues
and structures in the body (NIBIB, n.d). However, due to the type of radiation being superimposed
over the body it is worrying knowing that this form of radiation can, in some cases, cause some very
life threatening mutations. The term used to describe the effective... Show more content on

A translocation is when segments in chromosomes, and the genes they contain, change location.
This translocation can occur a segment of the chromosome breaking off and re joining at another
location (Cancer quest). The ionizing radiation can cause cells to die, but sometimes it can lead to
cancer later on. The amount of damage caused in the cell is related to the dose, frequency, a
position on the body in which the x ray is taking place determines the extenet to which thesse
mutations can occur. The damage can take place in a matter of seconds or it can take years to
develop. (American Cancer Society)
Sub issue 2: What other side effects can x rays have? Not only does the radiation cause
mutations and further, other related illnesses, the process itself and other process related to the
conduction of an x ray can result in side effects. When taking x rays, doctors can inject with a
contrast dye to help improve the quality of the images. However, this dye, which contains iodine,
can cause some side effects (e.g. nausea, itching and hives) (Krans, B. n.d.). The iodine injection
can also cause pre existing kidney issues to worsen further, which can ultimately result in the
failure of kidneys. (Inside radiology, 2009) Sub Issue 3: Is there an equally cost effective and
efficient way to produce medical

Two Different Philosophical Views in Grendel and Beowulf...
Beowulf and Grendel are two tales similar in many ways, yet different from each other. These
stories are like a coin; you cannot have one side without the other. Just as the sides of a coin
share the same coin, these stories share a similar plot, a setting, and tell of the same events. The
sides of a coin also have differences as do Beowulf and Grendel. In the case of these two tales
this difference is in their respective philosophical views. Beowulf portrays the philosophical views
of life that many people still regard today. Those views helped to shape and define the ideal Dane
in their culture. For example, the traits looked for among the Danes were honesty, bravery, and
humility. These three requirements in the Danes were but... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In contrast to the Danes of Beowulf , Grendel searched for his very reason of existence by asking
the questions Why? and How? for answers. Grendel started off in the book struggling with
finding meaning in his life while watching the people clearly doing things that gave their lives
meaning. He became upset as he saw that he couldn t deter their spirits no matter what he did and
started to feel jealous of their self found purpose. He realized that through various ways the people
attained meaning. In response to his confusion over their self discovered purpose, Grendel started
listening to the Shaper s words when he spoke to the people shaping their very beliefs which
confused Grendel even more on the meaning of life. After listening to the Shaper for a while,
readers can see Grendel in a state of contradiction. He started off killing people as a simple, bestial
monstrosity but in the end he is shown as quite intelligent and capable of choosing whether to kill
or not. Soon, Grendel started seeking answers to his questions from a dragon. The dragon s very
philosophy on life was that there is no meaning of life which started to influence Grendel. Upon
Grendel s persistent questions of Why? , the dragon told him You improve them, my boy! Can t you
see that yourself? You stimulate them! You make them think and scheme...You are, so to speak, the
brute existent by which they learn to define themselves

The Significance Of The Final Solution To The Holocaust
The Holocaust was a systematic, bureaucratic and state sponsored decision made by the Nazi
German Government and their collaborators between years 1936 to 1945 to eliminate all Jews from
European society. This decision was known as the final solution to the Jewish question (Todd Allan
2001). Although German authorities main target was the Jewsthey also targeted specific groups who
were perceived as racially inferior including; Roma (Gypsies), some Slavic people (poles, Russians
and others), communist, socialist, Jehovah s witnesses, the disabled, the mentally ill, homosexuals
and other people deemed inferior (Introduction to the Holocaust2016). Jews were the main victims
of the holocaust as they were a source of hatred within Germany

Silver Bullion Bars Research Paper
Electricity is required to make colloidal silver that is pure, because other methods require the use of
chemicals that leave behind contaminants. Thus, the use of electricity is the only way to make
correct colloidal silver that is safe for internal usage. Anything that is added into the solution
changes it into something else. For example, the addition of salt chemically transforms colloidal
silverinto silver chloride, which is something that does not have the exceptional safety record of
colloidal silver. While silver chloride is ideal for eye drops, it is nevertheless something that should
not be used internally.
The purity of the ingredients is essential for making true colloidal silver, for impurities will
transform the solution into a different substance. Even the minerals in spring water will undergo
unpredictable chemical transformations, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We must warn about the risk of not buying from a reputable seller, because the Chinese have
begun flooding the market with fake bullion bars too, and these cheap lookalikes are
everywhere. It is impossible for a normal person in his home to detect the fakes. Although, the
Internet is full of videos with questionable methods for testing. The most reputable source for
buying bullion bars is a bank, followed by other financial institutions, since they purchase their
bullion bars from regulated mints. Your bank does not obtain its precious metals and currency
from Craig s List or E bay, in other words. You should be just as cautious in acquiring your own
bullion bars, for the sake of your family s long term health. Your family should never be
supplementing with cadmium and tungsten from China. One other consideration to make during
the buying process is that not all domestic silver bullion bars are pure. To ensure purity, buy only
silver bullion that has a rating of 999 . Do not accept any other

  • 2. How Did The Reconstruction Era Affect America Today The reconstruction era was a time that then affected America in positive facets and negative aspects as well, and still affects America today. Thanks to the reconstruction era, there are several implementations that geared the world on the path in which it is today. Had it not been for some of the laws that were set in place African Americans may have not had many of the opportunities that were presented during the reconstruction period, therefore the years of oppression and cruelty might still be present. Arguably one of the greatest contributions during the reconstruction era was the thirteenth amendment. This is the amendment that formally abolished the cruel and unjust acts of slavery in 1865. The thirteenth amendment states Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction (Primary documents in American History). The ratification came eight months after the end of the war, but it represented the culmination of the struggle against slavery. When the war began, some in the North were against fighting what they saw as a crusade to end slavery. Although many northern Democrats and conservative Republicans were opposed to slavery s expansion, they were ambivalent about outlawing the institution entirely (13th amendment ratified). This statement is proof that although the North was opposed to slavery they were not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Analysis Of The Book The Way Green By John Green Paper Towns is The New York Times Bestseller, Edgar Award, and Printz Award winning novel written by John Green. The way Green organizes the book is well simple and well planned and is simple to follow. The novel is divided into three sections that organize the growth of the story and plot. I liked the way this was done because it keeps the reader alert and more involved in the novel. Margo and Quentin, the two main characters in the novel, are childhood friends who gradually drift apart as they grow older. Everything changes between Margo and Quentin when they discover a dead man s body. This event transforms their lives and Margo s imagination. Margo disappears one day after spending a night filled with bold risks with Quentin, and he is convinced that Margo left him clues to help him find her. Symbolism is shown throughout the book that helps convey many different meanings of life; and two examples of symbolism include strings and paper towns. One of the many symbols in the book are strings. This symbol is connected to several people in the novel and one of them is a dead man named Robert Joyner. When Margo and Quentin first find the dead body, Margo is not afraid to approach it while Quentin is scared and wants to leave. They later find out that Robert Joyner committed suicidebut do not know why. Margo later hypothesizes that, Maybe all the strings inside him broke (Green 8). The strings represent the sanity of a person and the hope of keeping oneself ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Most famous stories that are known of brave men took place when wars were fought with swords, and bows, and halberds, and not with guns, and missiles. Although the best of stories of brave men didn t always happen in real life but only in the thought of man. Even some great have been made into plays, movies and shows. In the book writing Homer has always been a great author, and story teller. Homer has always made stories feel so real, and one of homers best stories The Iliadhas always been always been told because of it love aspect, its fighting as well as the involvement of the gods. Although due to all this the Trojans still fight strong, and brave, and many times are strong enough to push back the Arcadians back to their wall. A Trojan warrior, Poulydamas, suggests they dismount, and make a massive attack on, foot Hector agrees. After much of a typical back, and fourth of battle, the Trojans finally drive the Achaeans back within their wall. Just when it looks like the Trojans are about to breach the wall, an eagle flies overhead, on the left (this was viewed as unlucky), and carrying a snake. How Tenyson Describes The Eagle How Tenyson Describes the Eagle In verse 1, line 1 he describes the eagle as being harsh, violent and rough by using alliteration in the words clasps , crag , and crooked . He uses onomatopoeia also in these words to get over the violentness of the bird and also its rough environment. When using the phrase crooked hands Tenyson is describing how the shape of the claws are crooked but when he used the word hands instead of claws this is implying the eagle has god like qualities. Color of eyes, straight or curly hair, pigmentation of the skin and certain diseases (such as Huntingdon s chorea) are all a function of the genes we inherit. At the other end of the spectrum are the environmentalists also known as empiricists (not to be confused with the other empirical / scientific approach). Their basic assumption is that at birth the human mind is a tabula rasa (a blank slate) and that this is gradually filled as a result of experience (e.g. behaviorism). From this point of view psychological characteristics and behavioral differences that emerge through infancy and childhood are the result of learning. Today s Economic Climate with organizations that unions no longer survive in In the fall of 1934 Senator Wagner introduced the National Labor Relations Act in the senate. On July 5, 1935, President Franklin Roosevelt signed the National Labor Relations Act. This act was put into place to help unions survive, under the section 7, it gave employees the right to form and join unions and it obligated employers to bargain collectively with unions in a selective manner. Although, the future of organized labor in the economy today looks grim, the unions will have to do whatever it takes to help keep contribute to a healthy economy. They will have to do use whatever form it takes to help with the decline in private unions as well. In the past decades, unions have stood to fall by the wayside, due to the contributing factor of the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA). In other words, it is working with the community. Child Sexual Abuseimpacts the community in several ways, such as through fear, confusion, as well as economically. Though the abuse might only physically affect one person, it could still greatly impact everyone else. The first way that Child Sexual Abuse affects the community is through fear. Sometimes families in communities have an ideal idea about their identity and if something, such as Child Sexual Abuse happens in a family in that community, it could disrupt the foundation. According to the organization, New York Alliance against Sexual Assault, The community s reluctance to interfere in private family matters, and the desire to maintain the illusion of family as a safe unit, hides and condones the widespread incidence of Child Sexual Abuse (Adult Survivors, 2015). Therefore, Child Sexual Abuse occurring in the community is fearsome, because it disrupts the conceived notions about the community. Another reason Child Sexual Abuse brings fear into the community is because often Child Sexual Abusers have more than one victim. • 12. Beverage Choices Of Bottled Water Essay We are a 24/7 on the go society who wants convenience in our beverage choices . Kim E. Jeffery, CEO of Nestle Waters North company, made this comment in representation of the largest leader in the bottled water industry. It is no wonder how bottled water became so popular in our society. Healthier than soda, bottled wateris conveniently stored in a lightweight, disposable, plastic bottle. Bottled water sales started when Perrier glass bottled water came overseas to America in the late 1970 s and in 1989, water was available in PET plastic bottles (Tapped). Now everywhere, bottled water can even be found in high school cafeterias while there are water fountains located in nearly every hall. However, there is an opposing view to the product with names such as Ice Mountain, Aquafina, Dasani, Sam s Choice, and Acadia. Through research, bottled water is known to carry human pollutants, exceed other natural resource costs, and take part in a large portion of plastic waste, all in a sixteen ounce plastic bottle. Although bottled water is convenient in only a few cases, public education and legislation are necessary because of the human pollutants, costs, and waste. Bottled water is becoming such a growing industry because it does show to be convenient in some cases. As Kim E. The end which is more electronegative has a slightly negative charge (Оґ ) and the side with the less electronegativity has a slight positive charge (Оґ+). Polar molecules tend to have a greater electronegative difference of 0.5 and less than 1.6. In order for a molecule to obtain polarity, the two molecule has to have a net pole and dipole moment, where a separation of the charge of the molecule go into a positive area or a negative area. The dipole moment can be visualised by drawing an arrow from the positively charged side to the negatively charged side, in a polar molecule the arrow points towards the same direction, whereas a nonpolar molecule has arrows pointing in different directions. Solar heat gain coefficient is widely use in the United State in designing building. SHGC may refer to the transmittance of solar energyof windows or even walls, every object can be evaluate by using solar heatgain coefficient method by knowing the properties of each material. If a material have high solar heat gain coefficient, then the material is a good absorbent of solar heat. For material that is black in colour, inevitably it absorb heat faster because of the colour doesn t reflect the wavelength that comes directly from the source of light. So, low e components of a building that comes with low solar heat gain coefficient will reflect and keep heat source that came from sunaway from the house and that will probably makes a house cooler. Solar heat gain coefficient usually dealt with windows that possess a low e property. Low e may regard to the emissivity of one s material. Nowadays window mostly is transparent, and that makes it vulnerable for sunlight to penetrate easily into a house without any reflection. Imagine living in a world where people were considerate of others. Imagine living in a world where everyone had the same rights and privileges. The Framers took a step at achieving this world with the passage of the 14th amendment. The intent of the 14th amendment was to prevent state governments from denying African Americans in the U.S. from their citizenship. At the time Africans were unable to attain citizenship because of their skin color. This representation is evident in language and Starkie s interactions, with characters such as Captain Smythe. Diction in this interaction labels Starkie as an outsider at first impression. An imbalance in want and need is shown in the stories The Necklace , The Golden Touch , and King Midas. In The Necklace, there are many examples of imbalance in want and need. The wife in the story is one example of the imbalance. The wife loved money and had the mindset that you could only be happy if you have nice items. My Aspirations For This Class Personal Statement My aspirations for this class originally was to study and learn the history of the Romans, in particular the Roman Republic Era, but when I learnt that we were to study Greek culture and society, I was disappointed. Although the class had surprised me and intrigued me, I still was still fascinated and oblivious to Roman history. Therefore I chose Pompey, a famous general and great rival of the legendary Caesar. Other than these two statements, I had not known any background information on Pompey. If I found new information that wasn t found in the texts, I would not use it. This was my tactic to play it safe and not give out false information and perspective views. My main problem when writing the report was that I had introduced too much of the historical side of Pompey, and ignored his influence on to society, or the society itself, which is the core of this report. I worry that even my final draft is still too much like a biography than a report. I had to also study other important individuals such as Sulla, Caesar and Crassus, all who is just as difficult to study as Pompey. I found that more information about the political ambition of Pompey was given through texts about Caesar than texts about Pompey himself. This was probably because Pompey was a military minded individual, while Caesar relied on politics and the people for his power. My opinion on Pompey was that he was too hasty and was not aware of the consequences for his actions. • 29. The Muslim-Christian Response To The Crusades Rich in delightful episodes and dramatic events, spread over two centuries and three continents, the Crusades were one of the fascinating events of Muslim Christian encounters. The Crusades constitute a series of almost two century long military campaigns (1095 1291) conducted by the Christians of Western Europe against the Muslims in the land of Palestine and the eastern Mediterranean coastal strip. The Christian aim was to wrest the Holy Land, Jerusalem, from the Muslims. Annoyed, angered, frightened, and disgusted by the presence of uninvited aliens in the midst of their cultures, the Muslim response to the Crusadeswas initially one of intermittent, unorganised, and disrupted by a preoccupation with internal problems. Since the historic significance of the Crusades during the first half of the second millennium CE cannot be denied by either the Muslims or Christians. However, it may be argued that the Muslim interest in the Crusades has been more a matter of curiosity than a sense of the relevance of these events in modern times. For the Christians of Western Europe, it seems that these events are still pertinent to their lives and thought, because the concept behind them evokes a feeling of service to God and righteousness. In the twentieth century, the Arab world rediscovered the Crusades, viewing them as symbols for current political problems. Some saw the medieval Crusading states as protocolonists , the precursors of Napoleon in Egypt, the British Mandate for Palestine, the state of Israel, and the invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq. The Crusades marked the initial phase of Western imperialism in the region (isti mar mubakkar or premature imperialism). For other Muslims, the Crusades have been seen in religious terms, as part of a continuing conflict between Christianity and Islam. Taking a Look at the Russian-Ukraine Conflict The conflict stems from the result of the Government s decision to turn down the European Union proposed association agreement in 2013 and instead Ukraine s President Viktor Yanukovych accepted fifteen billion dollars in aid and other economic benefits from Russian President Vladimir Putin. For years Ukrainianshave yearned for economic reform that would seek to open new trade and economic ties with Western European countries. President Yanukovych s decision to reject the EU s proposal ignored the feeling of the majority of Ukrainian citizens and further solidified the sentiment that their government was strengthening ties with Russiaand not with the west. President Yanukovych actions spawned unrest among the Ukrainian people, forcing them to condemn and denounce their corrupt government and to question their Presidents legitimacy. This pushed an already fractured society into the streets of Kiev, the capital of Ukraine to protest their disapproval. In response President Yanukovych ordered riot police and military personnel to move into cities throughout Ukraine in order to squash any dissent. I intend to explore the structure and function of arteries, veins and capillaries. When an artery branches into smaller and smaller vessels, eventually the blood vessel is too small to see with the naked eye. At that point, it is called an arteriole. Likewise, a venule is a microscopic vein. Arteries, because of their elastic nature can stretch with systole or relax with diastole. Their elastic property allows the arteries to oppose the force of the flow. The arteries can control (help form a pulsatile) the flow so that when blood reaches the arterioles and eventually the capillaries the stream of blood is milder. The wall of the arterioles contains less elastic fibres because the blood pressure within the arterioles is lower. Arterioles have more smooth muscle cells than large arteries, which allow blood to pass through them and on to the capillaries efficiently because friction is reduced. Veins ===== Veins and venules are similar in structure to arteries and arterioles, however veins have a wider inner diameter, which means that they can hold a larger volume of blood. Since it would be unworkable to get all the blood back to the heart as quickly as it left the heart (because there is no pumping mechanism to do so); veins have to be able to hold more blood than arteries. The veins provide a storage area for our blood, which is why the diameter of the veins is larger than the artery diameter. At any given time, the majority of our blood is within our veins.
