The Complexity Of Endogenous Ligands For P2YR
Endogenous ligands for P2YR The most abundant and best characterized endogenous ligand for
P2YR is the nucleotide ATP. ATP binds to all P2YRs except P2Y6R and P2Y14R12. Its binding
characteristics exemplify the complexity of P2YR signalling: at low concentrations it is the
only native agonist for P2Y11R, but at higher concentrations it functions as a partial agonist for
P2Y1R and P2Y13R, or as an antagonist for human P2Y4R or P2Y12R11, 12, 15. Other
nucleotides, such as ADP, UTP, UDP or UDP glucose, exhibit more specificity for individual
P2YRs. For example, ADP activates P2Y1R, P2Y12R and P2Y13R, whereas UTP primarily binds
to P2Y2R and P2Y4R, and to a lesser extent to P2Y6R, for which UDP is its preferred native
ligand. P2Y14R is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Functional roles of P2YR in unchallenged mice Mice with genetic deletions for human P2YR
homologous genes have been generated and characterized, with the exception of P2RY11, which is
not expressed in mice12. Despite their widespread expression and their functional involvement in
many diseases, mice with global deletions for individual P2YRs display only mild phenotypical
alterations when maintained unchallenged in a germ free environment. For instance, P2ry2в€’/в€’
mice have slightly lower plasma concentrations of aldosterone, renin and potassium20, whereas
global deletion of P2ry4 is associated with lower exercise capacity and reduced myocardial
hypertrophy during a swimming exercise21. These findings indicate the likelihood of some
redundancy in the signalling system, or compensatory mechanisms following global P2ry gene
deletion. P2YR signalling during inflammatory disease states Introduction Cellular ATP release

How Did English Law Influence The Declaration Of Independence

The Influence of English law on the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Bill of Rights
During the colonial era, Britain has acquired considerable territories in the Northern America.
These colonies were looked at as a mere resource and were treated as such. However, it can be
said that it was England s own laws that sparked a revolution in these colonies. Starting with the
Magna Carta (1215), and continuing with the English Bill of Rights (1689), England has defined
certain rights for all Englishmen. However, many of these rules did not apply to the colonies. The
abuses of this power against the colonies is what lead to the revolution and enactment of the

This document announced to the world the separation of the thirteen colonies, provided a list of
charges against Kind George III that justified the actions of the thirteen colonies, as well as a
preamble that summarizes the fundamental principles of American self governance the right to
liberty, equality, and the pursuit of happiness. There are a total of 28 paragraphs stating the
grievances committed by King George III, which are mostly based on the English laws that were
violated during the Revolutionary war, and which were supposed to be guaranteed to all
Englishmen, including the colonies. These grievances will directly reflect on the U.S Bill of
Rights, creating a document which would forbid such actions from taking place

Essay on American Red Cross
American Red Cross
The American Red Cross is an independent, volunteer led organization, financially supported by
voluntary public contributions and cost reimbursement charges. It is an organization that provides
services to all humanity both nationally and internationally. The International Red Cross works
along side with the Red Crescent Movement and together they are the world s largest humanitarian
network, with a presence and activities in almost every country. The seven fundamental principals
of the American Red Cross, Red Crescent Movement, International Red Cross, and other national

In 1951 Truman established a Federal Blood Program for national defense and named the ARC
the official agency. In the following years the ARC expanded its role into biomedical research
and entered the new field of human tissue banking. The 1900 s it introduced a massive
modernization of its operations to improve the safety of its blood products. Additional services
provided such as CPR/AED training, civil defense, HIV/AIDS education, and provisional care and
support to disaster victims and their survivors. It also helped the government form FEMA.
The mission of the American Red Cross was highlighted after the 2001 terrorist attacks on New
York City and Washington, DC, gaining praise for its quick response immediately afterwards.
Donations made to the Red Cross specifically for the September 11 victims and their families

In 2004 the ARC was stretched to its limit by four hurricanes and a tropical storm that ravaged
coastal areas in Florida and other Southwest areas in a period of two months. Nearly 26,000 Red

The Impact Of Multiple Actions On The Environment
1.Introduction
Many research efforts have demonstrated that a direct environmental impact from a single action is
often insignificant, and in reality, it is the numerous minor impacts from multiple actions that cause
the greatest environmental harm (Dales 2011, Franks et al. 2012, DNRM 2013, Finlayson et al.
2008, Neville 2009, Sonter et al. 2013). These are referred to as cumulative impacts, the successive,
incremental, and combined impacts of multiple actions on the environment (Dales, J 2011). There
are four characteristics of cumulative impacts as summarized from Franks et al. 2012, these include;
1.Cumulative impacts may be caused by future, present or past activities,
2.Cumulative impacts can differ greatly in intensity, space ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

2012).
Due to population growth, much pressure has been placed on natural resources and the ecosystem
services that are essential to human life (Franks et al. 2012). Rapid changes to the environment
such as climate change and the use of natural resources affect the resilience of natural systems.
Therefore, appropriate management and assessment of cumulative impacts on the terrestrial and
marine environment from anthropogenic activities is crucial, albeit difficult, as impacts often
extend outside of the geographic location of a development. Further, impacts from an action can
have a compounding effect on outside systems already under stress from unrelated activities.
Although much legislation has been enacted in attempt to buffer stressors caused by anthropogenic
land use, environmental impact assessment and management approaches are often reactive, and
consider mainly the impacts of individual activities and how to mitigate them (Dales, J 2011, Sonter
et al. 2013). Therefore, a more integrated, proactive and holistic approach needs to be applied when
it comes to the assessment and management cumulative impacts.
In the following essay, I will explore cumulative impacts on the terrestrial and marine environment
resulting from groundwater use, mining and agricultural practices in the Australian context. Using
examples from the Murray Darling Basin, Bowen Basin, the Fitzroy River and the Great Barrier
Reef, I will

Yes, No. 1 Clemson and No. 2 Alabama were the last two teams standing this season And yes,
both teams won their semifinal matchups in convincing fashion But let s not forget about last
year s CFP where the No. 4 seed Ohio State Buckeyes had a Cinderella type ending to their season
after taking down No. 1 Alabama, followed by a 22 point victory over the Oregon Ducks in the
College Football Playoff National Championship game.
Television ratings improved significantly in first year of the CFP. According to the Los Angeles

year old girl became queen of the most powerful monarch against her wishes. Although, Lady
Jane Grey was only queen for nine days her miserable childhood proved to be a strength in her
life and her forced marriage ultimately became an interwoven plan that lead to her death. Born
in 1537, Lady Jane Grey was fifth in line for the British Monarchy. His Majesty Henry VIII was
the current in reign, in England, and made Lady Jane forth in line for the throne, surpassing her
mother. Growing up as a royal Lady Jane was well educated and became very fluent in Latin,

Analysis Of From Russia With Love
From Russia With Love (1963), directed by Terence Young is the second film in the James Bond
movie franchise. Sean Connery and Robert Shaw headline the film s actors. This film is a spy
thriller with twists and turns and puts James Bond into a position of entrapment and must use his
brains to escape and get back to England alive. From Russia With Love is a timeless classic
through its new standards of filmmaking and characters. This movie also sets the tone for the rest
of the James Bondseries.
The first reason why this film is a classic is because of the introduction of spy gadgets for James
Bond. Bond today is partly known for his use of gadgets to get out of tough situations. This is the
first Bond film that uses these.
When Bond is getting orders to go to Turkey for his mission, he is brought a briefcase that has
hidden knives on the sides and has to be open a different way than normal in order for the opener
of the case not to be sprayed with tear gas. These tools will help him later in the film multiple
when he is in the face of danger.
This scene sets the tone not for just this film but for the many other popular movies of this
franchise through the use of gadgets. A large reason why many people enjoy James Bond is
because of astonishing use of these tools. With help of these gadgets, this movie can be considered
a classic because of the memorable fights in the film.
As with all spy films, there are going to be fight to the death scenes. Although it is predictable
who will win in these films, directors can still make these scenes very suspenseful and exciting.
Young does this exactly in this film with a very memorable fight scene that could be considered
one of the best of all films.
Bond seems to be trapped for good this time when he is in the train car with Donald Grant who
was a gun pointed at Bond. Bond starts talking to Grant and eventually convinces Grant to take
the 50 gold sovereigns. When Grant opens the briefcase, which is given to Bond with spy gadgets,
he is met with a plume of tear gas. This starts the fight as Bond gets up to take the gun. A fight
ensues, going across the small train car and eventually making Bond the winner by killing Grant.
The fight however did

Romantic Impact On Napoleon
Napoleon Bonaparte and the wars he fought against Great Britain, the conveniently named
Napoleonic Wars had a lasting and profound impact on British citizens and society. Napoleon for a
brief period had transformed a nation of anarchy and instability into the most powerful empire in
Europe and posed a serious threat to Britain s perceived dominance and invulnerability. The fear of
a Napoleonic invasion spread across Britain, an event that had it been realised may have been
welcomed by many within the nation. The French general turned emperor was unquestionably the
British governments most imposing enemy but there were many individual Britons who held
Napoleon in much higher esteem than their own monarch/Regent. The British nation was divided...

He notes that the Lake poets originally revered Napoleon but as the wars continued they became
increasingly conservative and critical of him. He recalls that William Wordsworth s primary
reason for his disillusionment with Napoleon was his 1804 coronation, other Romantics such as
Samuel Taylor Coleridge however, were not so clear about their reasons for resenting Napoleon
and Stock states that this inability to decide upon a definitive opinion characterizes the
Romantic understanding of Bonaparte because the transition from reverence to hatred was so
extreme and unexpected. Like radicals and loyalists, the Romantics also offered different
interpretations of Napoleon in their works especially on the concept of his humanity .
Coleridge, Walter Scott and Robert Southey believed Napoleon to be an innovative politician
and therefore, very human, while Percy Bysshe Shelley too regarded Napoleon as human but
believed his political genius was a fallacy as he merely reverted France back to monarchy;
whereas Lord Byron considered Napoleon to be a metaphysical being. Stock states that the
Romantics also make quite extensive use of Satan when interpreting Napoleon and Coleridge and
Scott classify him as evil incarnate to the point where they desire his death. Stock argues that
some Roamntics such as William Hazlitt used the Satanic image of Napoleon to personify him as
a revolutionary figure inverting political norms. Despite previously denigrating him as a mere
politician, Coleridge too personifies Napoleon as a presence rather than a human being and Stock
states Hazlitt celebrates Napoleon as an Idea not an

The capability to withstand water shortages and the havoc caused by the harvest passes makes the
plants to mature early with its productivity level being high. Regions suffering from food shortages
can only undergo starvation for short period before it can start to enjoy the food. On the other
hand, the abovementioned advantages make farmers engage in profitable farming business with the
low level of costs of farm inputs and high outputs. This aspect benefits not only the farmers but also
the population that stands to enjoy a large variety of food stuff at their disposal.
However, the use of the GM seeds for food production can quickly render a harmful impact to the

Break Break Break Analysis
The poem Break, Break, Break was composed by Lord Tennyson Alfred. Written in rhyming
quatrain stanzas with a trimeter rhythm, this piece of literature expresses the thoughts of a man
who has recently lost someone he was close to. Accordingly, the themes displayed in this poem are
death, sorrow, and passing time. The composer of the poem is unable to speak his mind, for his
tongue will not allow him to speak the thoughts that arise in [him] (4). This phrasedisplays the
emotional distress being experience by the author, as well as avoidance of responsibility for
what he is unable to say. He does not take claim of being unable to say his thoughts aloud but
rather blames the inability on his tongue. Later on in the poem, we learn of the reason for this
emotional distress the author is experiencing. The author longs for the touch of a vanished hand
/And the sound of a voice that is still (11 12). These two eerie indicators point the reader towards
the conclusion that the author has lost someone with whom he was close. The author continues
to use the physical world to describe the one he has lost, emphasizing the presence of death
within the poem. The combination of his inability to say what thoughts he has and his use of
physical world descriptions for this missing person may indicate that he is still in the early
stages of grief, attempting to fully comprehend his loss. The author includes implications of
jealousy within his poem. This jealousy arises when he first observes a fisherman s boy playing
joyfully with his sister and then when he sees a sailor lad singing cheerfully in his boat on the
bay. These lines providing evidence of this begin with O well (5,7). The use of this phrase
before his observations leads the reader to the conclusion that he is jealous of the happiness of
these people. After suffering a great loss, one is inclined to wish they could once again
experience the joy they see in others. This is further evident with the presence of the statement of
but the tender grace of a day that is dead/Will never come back to me (15 16). The authors
thoughts of jealousy and death lead to the main theme of this poem, sorrow. The author recalls the
day that he was able to enjoy the

Police Accountability Essay
This essay will describe the mechanisms by which the British Police are held to account, and
will touch upon the paradox of police governance, the balance of unwanted coercion of police,
financial stewardship and police legitimacy. This essay will also divulge into a discussion on the
topic; is policing political? There will be an argument for and against, and the advantages and
disadvantages to both sides will be conversed to achieve an accurate conclusion. In addition this
essay will start by portraying the significance of PoliceAccountability.
Police Accountability in both England and Wales, became a national political issue throughout
the 1980 s, the issues mainly alarmed those who had power over the police, who ought to
manage them and whether they were beyond democratic control. However, in recent years these
issues have lost some of their debate and accountability now focus on police effectiveness and
police performance. The police are to follow the rule of law and legislation (legislation is where
powers of police are derived) and are subordinated to the law. Police also have allegiance to the
crown, which serves as an alternative to the state, as a central organizing principle of government.
The model known as the tripartite system (shown below) conveys police accountability and is the
essential basis of police governance. It is established under the 1964 Police Act.
The tripartite system evenly distributes responsibilities between the following:

America Is A Leading Political And Economic Superpower
America is a leading political and economic superpower, most known for being the largest
democracy and being founded with unreplaceable views of freedom, civil liberties, and the iconic
American dream. Despite these great accomplishments, there is a growing problem in America
that if not handled will be the greatest mistake in American history. Strict regulation on campaign
contributions is necessary because they go against core principles of democracy including,
encouraging abuse of power, decreasing political participation, and promoting an increase in
political and financial inequality between the extremely rich and the rest of Americans. Big
campaign donations promote corruption. This is known and yet nothing is done about these giant
anti democracy rulings. In 2010 The Supreme court case Citizens United v. FEC ruled that
campaign funding is protected as a form of free speech which broadens an already ridiculously
unclear policy. One giant problem with this is that PACs and other individuals or organizations
can receive and donate as much money as needed if they vow to spend the money independently
from campaigns. These donors expect reimbursement. In America today, we are seeing a rapid
increase of special interests infringing on the political process and this has to stop.
Supporters of loose campaign finance regulations argue that donations are a form of protected free
speech. They believe regulation should not interfere with the general gratitude a candidate

Adler s The Neglect Of The Intellect Sloth
In his article The Neglect of the Intellect: Sloth, Mortimer J. Adler asserts that the disuse of a
person s intellect is a moral injustice. Adler coins the term sloth to describe the people
committing this moral crime. He believes that people should use their intellectual abilities for
their own personal pleasure rather than for economic or political gain. Adler employs an
aggressive tone when describing the abuse of the intellect, and appeals to the reader s emotion
when portraying intellect as a way the only way to live a morally good life. Adler s purpose is to
convince his readers that intellect should be used solely for the purpose of increasing
knowledge. While Adler s article gives a reasonably convincing argument about learning for
your own well being, he fails to support his claims, baffles his readers with the overuse of
intelligent sounding words, and neglects to explain why you should be intellectual just for the
sake of it. Alder fails to support his claims. Because of this, his claims come across as opinions,
not allegations. In paragraph 4, Adler says, Sloth is a moral fault, but unlike injustice that results
in misconduct toward others, sloth is a moral fault that causes the misconduct of the individual s
private life. This quote demonstrates how Adler makes a statement, but never elaborates on it. He
calls the sloth a moral fault, but doesn t explain how that is true. Adler also mentions that your
private life will be affected, but never precedes to explain how that could happen. Another
example is when Adler states, But there are a great many more who have sufficient ability to
make the effort and fail to do so (paragraph 3). Adler neglects to explain to the reader how this
statement is true. He later lists the activities of the people he referred to engage in, but he never
demonstrates an example of failure to use their intellectual abilities. Adler s failure to support his
claims discredits his argument. Throughout his article, Adler uses intellectual language that can
make it hard for his audienceto read. Words he uses like lethargy and torpor take away from the
purpose of his article. Adler is trying to convince his audience to seek knowledge for enjoyment,

Shoulder Injury Research Paper
One of the most common injuries among athletes is found to be in the shoulder region, which

Re:Laws of Evidence Assignment #2
Statement of Assignment
You have asked me to analyze and determine whether the evidence that prosecution would like to
introduce at trial can be admitted based on the Federal Rules of Evidence. Pursuant to your request,
this memo includes my analysis, reasoning, and conclusions regarding the admissibility of such
evidence.
Statement of Facts
The defendant was prosecuted for the murder of his wife. The victim s body was never recovered,
no murder weapon was ever found, and there were no witnesses to the crime. At trial, prosecution
would like to introduce the following as evidence: 1. A computer disk, found in the defendant s

See Fed. R. Evid. 403(2011). In order for it to meet the requirements to be excluded, the danger
of unfair prejudice, confusing the issues, the jury being misled, undue delay, time being wasted,
or unnecessary presentation of cumulative evidence has to greatly outweigh the probative value
of the evidence. If harm that is not related to the legal issue of the case will be done to a party by
the introduction of the evidence, then the evidence prejudicial. A fact often possesses both
probative and prejudicial effects, in which case it is then left up to the court to determine if the
prejudicial effects outweigh the probative value enough to exclude the evidence, or if the probative
value of the evidence outweighs the prejudicial effects enough to deem the evidence as admissible.
Prejudicial evidence tends to discredit the accused and make the jury dislike him/her more, and
offers little or no insight to the matter of the case or assistance in the search for the truth.
ANALYSIS ISSUE I
Is the computer disk that was found in the defendant s desk containing a file named murder which
appears to be a twenty six step guide on how to carry out a murder admissible evidence in this
case? Although this evidence does not necessarily prove that the defendant is guilty of murdering
his wife, it does have the tendency to prove that the defendant was interested in gaining the

Apple Martin Luther King Essay
The nature of the universe is that it is not at all a random universe, but instead, is driven by
people s believes. Everything has its own cause or purpose for its existence. Things that has a
favorable cause or meet the demand and satisfy people will more likely to survive and grow in
comparison with the others. Sinek gives three examples of Apple, Martin Luther King and Wright
brothers to prove his point. He mentions that though they have the same aspects and conditions as
others, what makes them different is that they all think, act and communicate the exact same way.
And it s the complete opposite to everyone else . Because they think inside out, which is focusing

In another way, people don t buy what you do; they buy why you do it. If you talk about what
you believe, you will attract those who believe what you believe . The example of the
commercial advertising of Apple versus other competitors really reflects this statement. Just a
change in the message of the product from the company can eventually impact the attitude of the
customers and their decision of buying the product. If we do not see why we should one product
although we see all its outstanding features, we just don t feel right and are not persuaded enough
to purchase it. Thus, a successful company or people know clearly their purpose and strongly
believe what makes them do that can influence other people s thought and believes. Thus, human
beings are likely to prefer things that match their expectation and values or believes. They choose
to follow those that they believe are right because they see themselves in those things. For
instance, in Sinek s talk, numerous people showed up to hear Dr. King speak despite no invitation
since they showed up for themselves. It s what they believed about America that got them to travel
in a bus for eight hours to stand in the sun in Washington in the middle of August . In addition,
Sinek uses biological structure of a human brain to explain the correlation between the human
feelings and behaviors like decision making to prove why we need to feel right to be persuaded in

A thirty year Speech Language Pathologist Shannon Piercy has seen the way her clients are
treated differently over time as technology grows. She explains that back in the day, they did a
lot of games, cards, workbooks and a lot of printed material with the clients. She says that they
really did not have a lot of special things so they had to make most of it up. With all the new
advances in the field of speech language pathology she says that we now have computers, iPads
and iPhones that have the software already loaded so we don t have to come up with the games

dramatic difference in her son s ability to communicate because of these new advances in

years old, his language skills are now equivalent to his age level peers. (Hall

Milton’s Paradise Lost Essay examples
Milton s Paradise Lost has been praised as being the greatest English epic of all time, most
stunningly in its author s depiction of the parents of humanity, Adam and Eve. How Milton chose to
portray the original mother and father has been a focus of much criticism with contemporary
readers. One of the main subjectsof these comments is in reference to Eve, who, according to
many, is a trivial character that is most definitely inferior to her mate. Nonetheless, many do not
recognize that, after the fateful Fall, she becomes a much more evolved character. When Eve is
introduced to the storyline of the epic, her character is shallow and extremely undeveloped, meant
simply for display. She is quite firmly set as being inferior to her mate... Show more content on

He does this because the scene happens in the past and therefore he uses her to discuss it rather
than confusing the reader with a flashback type scene. He also has Eve relate what happened to
prove that Eve must indeed be beautiful if she herself was taken by her looks as she discusses how
she pined with vain desire (IV, 466) for the image of her reflection. In fact, Eve s beauty is
discussed repeatedly. For example, when Satan first sees the human couple, he is overtaken by
Eve s beauty and submissive charms (IV, 498). Milton even goes so far to stress her beauty and
charms as to have her stun Satan himself with it. Actually, as Satan is on his mission to seduce Eve
into eating the apple, her beauty overtakes him.
If chance with nymphlike step fair virgin pass, What pleasing seemed, for her now pleases more,
She most, and in her looks sums all delight; Such pleasure took the Serpent to behold This
flowery plant, the sweet recess of Eve Thus early, thus alone; her heavenly form Angelic, but more
soft and feminine, Her graceful innocence, her every air Of gesture or least action, overawed His
malice, and with rapine sweet bereaved
His fierceness of the fierce intent it brought.
That space the Evil One abstracted stood From his own evil, and for the time remained
Stupidly good, of enmity disarmed, Of guile, of hate, of envy, of revenge. (IX, 452 466)
Thus Milton creates an Eve

Obergefell V Hodges Pros And Cons
In The Gay Marriage Case, Obergefell v Hodges, the United States Supreme Court decided that a
state may not prohibit same sex marriage. Instead, it emphasized that the fundamental right to
marry is guaranteed to the gay society through the Due Process Clause of the 14th amendment of
the United States of America Constitution. The involved decision maker in the case was Justice
Anthony Kennedy, who gave four primary reasons for his decision. Despite the numerous criticisms
about the decision, the idea of giving the fundamental rights to marriageto the same sex couples

robot prioritized motion planning problem is considered. The motivation for the above problem
however, there a centralized approach is the decentralized approach is more suitable for the
unmanned aerial vehicles where there concerns about privacy and communication limitations.
Although there is decentralized synchronous approach, but it is impractical for the real world. But

this algorithm every robot hold the paths which it should avoid. When robot receives the
information it merely upgrade it avoid path list and checks if the current path is consistent. If the
current path is inconsistent the robot triggers new planning. Otherwise robots remain idle. The
evaluation of the proposed ADPP algorithm with comparison with previous approaches Centralized

algorithms is the wall clock run time, communication complexity (the number of broadcasted
messages) and solution quality. In the evaluated problem s number of Robots varies from 30 to 100.
The average wall clock run time are depicted in figure 1a. The results show that the decentralized

The Importance Of Seismic Data
The reliability of seismic data may influenced by different factors in the acquisition process. For
ensuring and better understanding of the reservoir characteristics, these factors should be avoided
from the seismic data. Seismic data are superposed and in the case of low signal to noise ratio
(SNR) sometimes completely masked by noise. To prepare these seismic data for further application,
processing, maximize the potential benefit, and contribution of the seismic data in exploration and
development, we need to improve the SNR by attenuating noiseand preserving important features of
seismic data. Different methods have been proposed for denoising and preserving different features

and the estimated usage of 8,000,000 kWh s of electricity per year. It has been determined that
by implementing solar energy panels to offset 50% of the plants annual electricity usage, this
will provide the company with the following incentives (please refer to Exhibit 2 for the full cost
analysis): An average monthly savings of $559,600, An average 25 year savings of

Costs In 2006, Scotts Miracle Gro spent $105.8 million in raw materials, a $28.3 million
increase from 2005 (Supply Chain Management, 155). Although this increase in raw material
costs is partly attributed to price inflation, Scotts Miracle Gro can implement new production
processes to save in raw material costs. The most predominant raw material used by Scotts

contrasting ways, which can reflect on the world around us, and helped me learn about the how
different relationships can affect people, and the world around them. Though their ideas may differ,
both writers used similar techniques, such as the use of an extended metaphor. Similarly, both

Purposes of Subscription Library
Following the years of revolution, the eighteenth century was relatively stable and peaceful age.
General improvement of life and urbanisation led to increase in the amount of spare time and
money. The commercialisation of the leisure also made recreational activity more affordable,
especially for the new middle class constituted by professionals. Their new vulnerable status in the
society led them to seek their own culture, such as participation to society activities and enrolment
to the subscription library. Subscription Librarywas first established in Liverpool in 1758, and it
spread across Britain, growing the number of subscribers along the way. It was essentially a
private library, requiring a payment of a guinea for entry and another ten shillings or so for the
annual subscription fee. In turn, the members were allowed access to the permanent collection
of the books. In this essay, I would like to discuss the possible purposes of the subscription
library in the eighteenth century, by studying the library catalogues and regulations. Firstly the
library s role in the associationalism and the polite culture would be considered. Then I would
like to discuss how the library served as a place of forming a uniformed society, offering useful
knowledge and promoting equality. Lastly, its exclusiveness would be studied. The purpose of the
subscription library could be best explained as a part of the associationalism culture and the desire
for the polite society.

What Are The Similarities Between Sallust And Salluse
In what is arguably one of the most infamous episodes of the Roman Republic, L. Sergius Catilina
plotted the murder of a number of senators, and planned to assume control over the Republic. The
conspiracy is the depicted in Sallust s historiography, Bellum Catilinae, as well as it is the subject
of Ciceros most famous speeches, In Catilinam I IV. Primarily, the fame of the unsuccessful
rebellion known as the Catilinarian Conspiracy of 63 B.C. stems from the comprehensible body of
work which details it, and to the surviving world, these works provides insight into the unstable
political climate of the late Roman Republic. In addition to detailing this attempted rebellion,
Sallust and Cicero also managed to create an image of the man which the conspiracy was named
after, Catiline. As a result of Cicero s and Sallust s standing as giants within the body of Western
history, the inevitable consequence of this is that the image which they constructed of Catiline is
the one which has prevailed through the centuries.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy ( Cbt ) For Obsessive...
Strengths and Weaknesses in Aetiology and Treatment of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) By using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
individuals are able to be diagnosed and treated for many anxiety disorders, one of which is
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). OCD is an anxietydisorder associated with invasive
thoughts, impulses and urges which can cause severe anxiety for an individual. These obsessive
thoughts can then cause the individual to act compulsively to prevent the stress and anxiety that is
occuring (American Psychological Association, 2013). According to CBT, OCD is caused by
distorted cognitions and the way different thoughts are being interpreted (Whittal, Thordarson
McLean, 2005). Treatment for OCD includes various CBT techniques including Psychoeducation,
creating symptom hierarchies and then combining it with the behavioural technique of Exposure
Response Prevention (ERP). Both the aetiology and the treatment of the disorder have strengths
and weaknesses.
The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM V) explains the criteria for
OCD. OCD is considered to be an anxiety disorder in the DSM V. Obsessions are defined as
experiencing recurrent and persistent thoughts, impulses and urges, and can be invasive and
unasked for which then cause noticeable distress and anxiety for the individual. The individual will
try to ignore the unwanted thoughts and urges or they may try to neutralise them via

How Is Hitler A Victim Of Post-War Propaganda
The Myth dispeller
Is Hitler a victim of post war propaganda; why has the term Nazi become a term of abuse and was
Hitler really a racist?
Myth #1 Propaganda in the west
Hitler was not averse to treading on people s toes and the biggest toes he trod on are those of the
Jews. Like others before him, he stemmed the tide of European Jewry, but failed to conquer
worldwide Zionism, especially in the U.S. The legacy he left behind him and especially his final
testament still echo s today. Centuries will pass away, but out of the ruins of our towns and
monuments the hatred against those finally responsible whom we have to thank for everything,
international Jewry and its helpers, will grow.
It took only two post war decades for the Jews ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Hitler s SS, over a third originated from foreign nations, including a Muslim Handschar
division, Indians, Arabs and a Russian Vlasov RLA. This was whilst the blacks in the U.S. armed
forces were still segregated, and twenty years before the UK, who still had signs in guesthouses in
the 1960 s which read No Irish, dogs or blacks.
Hitler believed in the superiority of races and distinctions amongst them, not racism which is a
dislike of colour. The Second World War German army was the most ethnically diverse in history.
Hitler simply believed in the separation of races and the total exclusion of the Jews. The white
supremacy label then is a recent add on, designed to evoke feelings of racialism amongst a dumbed
down and largely ignorant population. Six million, Oi veh! It is all designed to mislead and
misinform!
I firmly believe that in times to come, probably not in our lifetime, the west will again awake and
view Hitler as a man ahead of his time, a prophet. The Jews are a clever and manipulative race, but
their downfall, repeated throughout history, is that their genetic inheritance and a racial
predisposition for wealth, deception and control, means that they are destined to repeat the same
mistakes, which led Hitler to embark on a National Socialist

Revolution and Power Essay
What is a revolution? Is it a country declaring its independence or the falling of the bourgeois? Is
it brother fighting brother or the story of a nation emerging from its own ashes? Or is it neither?
Revolution is the story of change: changing of power, changing of governments, changing of
minds. Power has become an increasingly hard term to define, especially when it is so intertwined
with some of civilization s most dynamic aspects, people and technology. Technology changes
power. It is common knowledge to never bring a knife to a gunfight, or a gun to a bomb fight. In
either scenario, one would not wish to be on the losing end, and technology is setting the bar higher
each day. But, as stated before, power is intertwined with both... Show more content on

After the adoption of the gun in warfare, kingdoms that either chose not to adopt the technology,
or simply could not afford it, did not fare well in combat against those kingdoms that did, making
guns a wartime necessity. But guns cost money, and the common people had the resources. Thus a
majority of Europe entered the age of debtors and the commodity of wealth. Guns were a large
commodity because of their high demand and the skill required in their construction. Kings became
indebted to their own people in their purchase of guns and, as a result, the dynamic of power
shifted. As stated by Adam Smith in his book Wealth of Nations , the wealth of a nation did not
depend upon the amount of gold in the king s treasury, but on the product of its citizens. With this
redistribution of wealth came a redistribution of power and the emergence of a new public sphere;
one that was increasingly interested in the political, economic, and social workings of their
surroundings. Guns were not the only technological revolution that changed the workings of power.
The printing press was arguably the greatest technological innovation ever created within the
confines of historical media. Gutenberg and his printing press made possible the concept of mass
consumption. Word of mouth was always a popular option for spreading knowledge and
information but it was limited both by memory and locality. Word could only travel so far before

1.2 Explain The Importance Of Children s Secondary Sources
A secondary source is written after an event has occurred and is written by someone who has
viewed the event second hand and has a different perspective, usually someone who looks beyond
the main event and can broaden your view on the situation. Unlike a primary source coming from
someone who has witnessed the event or heard first hand, the secondary sourceis to read about the
event and give their perspective of the situation. Collecting a child s secondary sources can come
from their mother or another family member who knows the child s background information,
otherwise their child care nurse or speech pathologist.
Using children s records is an important part of tracking a child s progression, the child s carer
needs to take into account the children s interests, learning styles, skills, behaviour, and how they
re interacting with other children. These records can be taken in written form, video,
photography or audio taping. It is useful to have this information so over time the child s carer

although the child may not understand their rights to privacy and confidentiality it is important that

Accidental disclosure could be by word of mouth, lost papers or throwing paper away without
destroying it, or an employee losing a laptop, jump drive, or other mobile media. The sporting
goods store could potentially have privacy risks based on the major privacy issues discussed above.
Since the store accept credit card sales in the store and over the web via e Commerce transactions,
the store needs to protect credit card information. The internal network is more secure because of
the DMZ, which has at least two firewalls in between the internet and the internal network.
According to Easttom (2006), the DMZ is a demilitarized zone in which gives an additional layer
of protection between the internet services and the backend of the corporation resources, (Easttom,
2006). An attacker may get into the DMZ, could cause problems with the web server and by then
should be detected, disconnected, or trap the attacker in the DMZ to prevent the attacker from
getting into the internal network. The email server is used for email communication with business
partners and customers, a man in the middle attack could intercept emails and forward the emails
to their destination while copying the message to the attacker. Another risk to privacy is the
wireless network, it needs to be locked down to prevent unauthorized access and use of the
wireless to get into the internal network. Facebook does leave the company open to viruses which

via channels they understand because they are imbedded within that asset. Along those same lines
a liaison can potentially provide a direct military force to solve a problem when it is within their
home country. So instead of just providing intelligence support they could also provide operational
support as long as those lines of communication and understanding are in place. Potentially the
most beneficial advantage to cooperation is that of providing a viable cover to mask U.S. actions
or interests as local ones and concealing otherwise apparent U.S. behavior in foreign countries.
There are also disadvantages to foreign intelligence relationships and liaisons which the United
States must maintain a state of vigilance on (Rosenbach and Peritz, 2009). First the U.S. needs to
be aware of the potential for conflicting interests. Relationships with adversaries could potentially
provide them with sensitive information about interests, strategies, plans, or tactics critical to the
U.S. This leads into hostile collection and the fact that liaisons or foreign partners may attempt to
leverage their status in an effort to gain insight into United States intentions and or sources and
methods. So as the U.S. is collecting in a foreign partner s back yard this could tip them off to
sensitive strategies being utilized.
Beyond those disadvantages there is the hurdle that different countries have different standards and
capabilities. An international partner may have less rigorous

New Terms And Theories That Were Caused By The Rise Of...
A literature review about new terms and theories that were developed by scholars to describe shifts
that were caused by the rise of Internet and which are relevant in order to understand the present
topic will be discussed. In the following, the concept of the working consumer, prosumption, user
generated content, participatory culture and electronic word of mouth will be explained in
accordance with the academic literature. As stated before, a change has taken place regarding the
identity of the consumer. Many different scholars have recognised this shift in different ways and
developed theories to describe this transition. The variety of theories and terms indicates an
important change in our society. The working consumer [...] consumers... Show more content on

Examples for that are customizing products or services they need. Customers interact with the
market in a critical way in order to optimize it in an economic functional and also cultural way.
Generally, consumers engage in different activities that boost the market value of any company s
offer on the market. There are different types of activities: positive (co creation), critical
(resistance), intangible (appropriation) and tangible (product information). The second
characteristic is that consumers interact with each other and even company staff while producing
value. Associations of individuals who work together create innovations and provide cultural and
social capital (ibid.). The process of cultural value creation and consumer agency is based on
social interaction and even companies sometimes participate in this process as partners (Cova,
Dalli, 2009: 325). Direct interaction is possible between consumers and also companies due to new
technologies. The third factor that describes consumer productive activity is that consumers seek
personal purposes, such as pleasure, satisfaction, commitment and others. According to Walker
(2008), the wish of consumers to cooperate with a company or brand is a reaction of helpless,
disconnected and uncounted feelings. Consumers work for the purpose of feeling gratified,
satisfied and at times socially recognized (Cova, Dalli, 2009). The fourth characteristic is that

What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Just In Time
Introduction
Today, numerous companies are willing to keep or own their particular inventory in order to
fulfil endless satisfaction of consumers. However, these stocks may be costly in terms of prices
and their performance. For example, these stocks may be stolen, lost, damaged, out dated,
deteriorate and so on. They may also require huge number of capital to keep them in respective
stores. Moreover, it may not be a wise way as changing demand in economy. After all, this action
may occur financial loss to the business.
By encountered this problem, Taiichi Ohno of Toyota was putting efforts on enhance the system
that his company applied in the 1970s. Finally, He developed a guiding philosophy for
manufacturing that minimized waste and improved quality Just In Time (JIT). This system was
made to efficiently and effectively meet fast changing consumer demands. (Manktelow, 1996 2015)

For example, Toyota is well known and able to achieve sales target as the JIT approach applied.
Customers are more enjoyable to have a new car comparing with a car which is kept in store for a
long time.
(Manktelow, 1996 2015)
Disadvantages of JIT Despite of those advantages, everything has its advantages and
disadvantages, so as JIT. First and foremost, there are some issues on delivery time. Some of the
suppliers may have problems on punctuality, which does not deliver goods to the company exactly
on time or even mistakes in the correct amounts to be delivered could be a big trouble. These
incidents may cause users having empty shelters or reluctantly put an Out of Stock signboard,
which may be embarrassing.
Secondly, a natural disaster could be a big issue. As natural disaster such as flood or storm,
suppliers may not be able to deliver the stocks are compulsory to stop temporarily. This may also
influence the sales amount due to limited stocks held, and lost of loyalty

The Role Of Leptin And Its Effects On The Reproductive...
Role of leptin in PCOS. Leptin is a hormone secreted mainly from the adipose tissue, serum levels
of which are influenced by obesity, insulin resistance and the levels of sex steroids (androgens and
estrogens) and insulin. It is mainly involved in the regulation of body weight by decreasing appetite
and increasing energy expenditure. Besides regulating the energy metabolism of the body, leptinhas
important actions on the reproductive system, which makes it an important link between the
adipose tissue and hypothalamus pituitary gonadal (HPG) axis (2). Long term hyperinsulinemia in
humans, as is the case in PCOS patients, stimulates leptin secretion from adipose tissue (9).
Significantly higher leptin (P = 0.0028), and insulin concentrations, insulin: glucose ratio (IGR),
and a significant correlation between leptin and fasting insulin concentrations, IGR, WHR and LH
have been reported in obese PCOS women than in normal weight women with PCOS. There is a
significant negative correlation between leptin and LH concentrations, independently of either BMI
or IGR, suggesting a possible involvement of leptin in LH hypersecretion (10). Estrogens increase,
whereas androgens suppress leptin production, suggesting sexual dimorphism in leptin levels (2).
The direct and indirect effects of leptin on the HPG axis, such as acceleration of GnRH pulsatility
(but not the pulse amplitude) in a dose dependent manner, suggest that leptin may play an important
role in the pathogenesis of PCOS.

Importance of Setting in The Blue Hotel Essay
Importance of Setting in Stephen Crane s The Blue Hotel
In The Blue Hotel, Stephen Crane uses various provocative techniques to ensure that the setting
adds to the richness of the story. The Blue Hotel is set in a cold Nebraska town at the Palace Hotel
in the late 1800 s, but there is more to setting than just when and where a story takes place. In a
written work, it is the author s job to vividly depict events in order to keep the reader?s attention
and to create colorful mental images of places, objects, or situations. The story is superbly
enhanced through Crane?s use of setting to develop mood, to create irony, and to make nature
foreshadow or imitate human actions.
From the beginning, Crane creates an atmosphere of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These odd comments append to the already uncomfortable air that surrounds the Swede. The
Swede successfully isolates himself from the group by appearing crazy to the others. The
statement mortifies the other men since they have no desire to harm him. In the midst of this
turmoil, the author stops the dialogue to add to the eerie and unpleasant situation that the
Swede creates when he writes, ?The wind tore at the house, and some loose thing beat regularly
against the clapboards like a spirit tapping.? Scully enters and tries to control the situation. The
Swede leaves the room and goes upstairs. Scully follows with hopes of consoling the Swede but
instead scares the wits out of him: ?Scully?s wrinkled visage showed grimly in the light of the
small lamp he carried. This yellow effulgence, streaming upward, coloured only by his prominent
features, and left his eyes, for instance, in mysterious shadow. He resembled a murderer.? This
description of him perpetuates the eerie feeling of the story. Upstairs, they indulge themselves in
alcohol and return to the rest of the men. A new card game develops because the Swede bullies
the men into it. Eventually, the Swede bursts out an accusation to Johnnie, ?You are cheatin?!?
This charge sends Johnnie into a rage that ends in a fight where Swede wins and heads for town.
He enters a Saloon and orders whiskey that make his eyes swim from the potency. He then requests

Persuasive Speech On You Are Alone
You are alone in a room. You have 2 minutes till your death. You have a phone. Do you make a
call? Who do you call?
Growing up I was led to believe that when you die it will be of old age, in a hospital bed with
loved ones surrounding you. You are able to say goodbye to those you care for and tell them what
you have been waiting and wanting to say. Even if they aren t there it is important to let them
know everything and tell them what they mean to you. And no, this isn t just so you feel better
about yourself it is one of you last acts on this earth, your last chance to say what needs to be said
to those that matter to you. It isn t something that is normally talked about but it needs to be, it is
something that will happen to just about everyone and you need to be prepared.
Guaranteed, this is the hardest thing you will EVER have to do. You can t avoid it, it is
something you will have to do. Many people believe that you should not make this contact to
your family, you should just leave them alone. I think different. This is the last time they will
ever hear your voice or read your message. This small act reflects who you are and is a part of
you that will stay with those people forever. For those people that were tragically lost in the twin
towers attacks, this a decision they were faced with. Many of their families had to answer or
listen to these calls that their loved ones left that they are now so thank full of as all I needed was
that message, and I think that he

with the students to get them to give me an answer. I had days where I would come home and

Should Students Be Able To Graduate In Three Years
Most kids now want to graduate in three years, but it s not as easy as they think, they will have to
work really hard. Students should be able to graduation in three years instead of four. It will lead
to success and much more lately in life. I agree that students should be able to graduate in three
years instead of four, by start making money, attended collegeearly, and decrease high school

First off, students can make money earlier by graduating faster. For example by getting a job early
they can have more experience in the work force. Teen having more experience will have better

basketball on a goal their size and also it has a soccer goal built into to let them play soccer if
they decide. This toy is definitely most appropriate for toddlers because of the required skills it
takes for the child to perform to actually enjoy the toy. It considers the sensory skills of the child
because they understand at about the age of two that a child should be able to see that the

  • 2. The Complexity Of Endogenous Ligands For P2YR Endogenous ligands for P2YR The most abundant and best characterized endogenous ligand for P2YR is the nucleotide ATP. ATP binds to all P2YRs except P2Y6R and P2Y14R12. Its binding characteristics exemplify the complexity of P2YR signalling: at low concentrations it is the only native agonist for P2Y11R, but at higher concentrations it functions as a partial agonist for P2Y1R and P2Y13R, or as an antagonist for human P2Y4R or P2Y12R11, 12, 15. Other nucleotides, such as ADP, UTP, UDP or UDP glucose, exhibit more specificity for individual P2YRs. For example, ADP activates P2Y1R, P2Y12R and P2Y13R, whereas UTP primarily binds to P2Y2R and P2Y4R, and to a lesser extent to P2Y6R, for which UDP is its preferred native ligand. P2Y14R is... Functional roles of P2YR in unchallenged mice Mice with genetic deletions for human P2YR homologous genes have been generated and characterized, with the exception of P2RY11, which is not expressed in mice12. Despite their widespread expression and their functional involvement in many diseases, mice with global deletions for individual P2YRs display only mild phenotypical alterations when maintained unchallenged in a germ free environment. For instance, P2ry2в€’/в€’ mice have slightly lower plasma concentrations of aldosterone, renin and potassium20, whereas global deletion of P2ry4 is associated with lower exercise capacity and reduced myocardial hypertrophy during a swimming exercise21. These findings indicate the likelihood of some redundancy in the signalling system, or compensatory mechanisms following global P2ry gene deletion. How Did English Law Influence The Declaration Of Independence Marko Maksimovic U.S. History to 1865 Dr. Kimberly Stokes Pak April 18th, 2016 The Influence of English law on the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Bill of Rights During the colonial era, Britain has acquired considerable territories in the Northern America. These colonies were looked at as a mere resource and were treated as such. However, it can be said that it was England s own laws that sparked a revolution in these colonies. Starting with the Magna Carta (1215), and continuing with the English Bill of Rights (1689), England has defined certain rights for all Englishmen. However, many of these rules did not apply to the colonies. The abuses of this power against the colonies is what lead to the revolution and enactment of the Declaration ... There are a total of 28 paragraphs stating the grievances committed by King George III, which are mostly based on the English laws that were violated during the Revolutionary war, and which were supposed to be guaranteed to all Englishmen, including the colonies. In the following years the ARC expanded its role into biomedical research and entered the new field of human tissue banking. The 1900 s it introduced a massive modernization of its operations to improve the safety of its blood products. Additional services provided such as CPR/AED training, civil defense, HIV/AIDS education, and provisional care and support to disaster victims and their survivors. • 5. The Impact Of Multiple Actions On The Environment 1.Introduction Many research efforts have demonstrated that a direct environmental impact from a single action is often insignificant, and in reality, it is the numerous minor impacts from multiple actions that cause the greatest environmental harm (Dales 2011, Franks et al. 2012, DNRM 2013, Finlayson et al. 2008, Neville 2009, Sonter et al. 2013). These are referred to as cumulative impacts, the successive, incremental, and combined impacts of multiple actions on the environment (Dales, J 2011). There are four characteristics of cumulative impacts as summarized from Franks et al. 2012, these include; 1.Cumulative impacts may be caused by future, present or past activities, 2.Cumulative impacts can differ greatly in intensity, space ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 2012). Due to population growth, much pressure has been placed on natural resources and the ecosystem services that are essential to human life (Franks et al. 2012). Rapid changes to the environment such as climate change and the use of natural resources affect the resilience of natural systems. Therefore, appropriate management and assessment of cumulative impacts on the terrestrial and marine environment from anthropogenic activities is crucial, albeit difficult, as impacts often extend outside of the geographic location of a development. Further, impacts from an action can have a compounding effect on outside systems already under stress from unrelated activities. Although much legislation has been enacted in attempt to buffer stressors caused by anthropogenic land use, environmental impact assessment and management approaches are often reactive, and consider mainly the impacts of individual activities and how to mitigate them (Dales, J 2011, Sonter et al. 2013). Therefore, a more integrated, proactive and holistic approach needs to be applied when it comes to the assessment and management cumulative impacts. In the following essay, I will explore cumulative impacts on the terrestrial and marine environment resulting from groundwater use, mining and agricultural practices in the Australian context. Using examples from the Murray Darling Basin, Bowen Basin, the Fitzroy River and the Great Barrier Reef, I will ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Analysis Of From Russia With Love From Russia With Love (1963), directed by Terence Young is the second film in the James Bond movie franchise. Sean Connery and Robert Shaw headline the film s actors. This film is a spy thriller with twists and turns and puts James Bond into a position of entrapment and must use his brains to escape and get back to England alive. From Russia With Love is a timeless classic through its new standards of filmmaking and characters. This movie also sets the tone for the rest of the James Bondseries. The first reason why this film is a classic is because of the introduction of spy gadgets for James Bond. Bond today is partly known for his use of gadgets to get out of tough situations. This is the first Bond film that uses these. When Bond is getting orders to go to Turkey for his mission, he is brought a briefcase that has hidden knives on the sides and has to be open a different way than normal in order for the opener of the case not to be sprayed with tear gas. These tools will help him later in the film multiple when he is in the face of danger. This scene sets the tone not for just this film but for the many other popular movies of this franchise through the use of gadgets. A large reason why many people enjoy James Bond is because of astonishing use of these tools. With help of these gadgets, this movie can be considered a classic because of the memorable fights in the film. As with all spy films, there are going to be fight to the death scenes. Although it is predictable who will win in these films, directors can still make these scenes very suspenseful and exciting. Young does this exactly in this film with a very memorable fight scene that could be considered one of the best of all films. Bond seems to be trapped for good this time when he is in the train car with Donald Grant who was a gun pointed at Bond. Bond starts talking to Grant and eventually convinces Grant to take the 50 gold sovereigns. When Grant opens the briefcase, which is given to Bond with spy gadgets, he is met with a plume of tear gas. This starts the fight as Bond gets up to take the gun. A fight ensues, going across the small train car and eventually making Bond the winner by killing Grant. The fight however did ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Romantic Impact On Napoleon Napoleon Bonaparte and the wars he fought against Great Britain, the conveniently named Napoleonic Wars had a lasting and profound impact on British citizens and society. Napoleon for a brief period had transformed a nation of anarchy and instability into the most powerful empire in Europe and posed a serious threat to Britain s perceived dominance and invulnerability. The fear of a Napoleonic invasion spread across Britain, an event that had it been realised may have been welcomed by many within the nation. The French general turned emperor was unquestionably the British governments most imposing enemy but there were many individual Britons who held Napoleon in much higher esteem than their own monarch/Regent. The British nation was divided... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He notes that the Lake poets originally revered Napoleon but as the wars continued they became increasingly conservative and critical of him. He recalls that William Wordsworth s primary reason for his disillusionment with Napoleon was his 1804 coronation, other Romantics such as Samuel Taylor Coleridge however, were not so clear about their reasons for resenting Napoleon and Stock states that this inability to decide upon a definitive opinion characterizes the Romantic understanding of Bonaparte because the transition from reverence to hatred was so extreme and unexpected. Like radicals and loyalists, the Romantics also offered different interpretations of Napoleon in their works especially on the concept of his humanity . Coleridge, Walter Scott and Robert Southey believed Napoleon to be an innovative politician and therefore, very human, while Percy Bysshe Shelley too regarded Napoleon as human but believed his political genius was a fallacy as he merely reverted France back to monarchy; whereas Lord Byron considered Napoleon to be a metaphysical being. Stock states that the Romantics also make quite extensive use of Satan when interpreting Napoleon and Coleridge and Scott classify him as evil incarnate to the point where they desire his death. Stock argues that some Roamntics such as William Hazlitt used the Satanic image of Napoleon to personify him as a revolutionary figure inverting political norms. Despite previously denigrating him as a mere politician, Coleridge too personifies Napoleon as a presence rather than a human being and Stock states Hazlitt celebrates Napoleon as an Idea not an ... • 12. Break Break Break Analysis The poem Break, Break, Break was composed by Lord Tennyson Alfred. Written in rhyming quatrain stanzas with a trimeter rhythm, this piece of literature expresses the thoughts of a man who has recently lost someone he was close to. Accordingly, the themes displayed in this poem are death, sorrow, and passing time. The composer of the poem is unable to speak his mind, for his tongue will not allow him to speak the thoughts that arise in [him] (4). This phrasedisplays the emotional distress being experience by the author, as well as avoidance of responsibility for what he is unable to say. He does not take claim of being unable to say his thoughts aloud but rather blames the inability on his tongue. Later on in the poem, we learn of the reason for this emotional distress the author is experiencing. The author longs for the touch of a vanished hand /And the sound of a voice that is still (11 12). These two eerie indicators point the reader towards the conclusion that the author has lost someone with whom he was close. The author continues to use the physical world to describe the one he has lost, emphasizing the presence of death within the poem. The combination of his inability to say what thoughts he has and his use of physical world descriptions for this missing person may indicate that he is still in the early stages of grief, attempting to fully comprehend his loss. The author includes implications of jealousy within his poem. This jealousy arises when he first observes a fisherman s boy playing joyfully with his sister and then when he sees a sailor lad singing cheerfully in his boat on the bay. These lines providing evidence of this begin with O well (5,7). The use of this phrase before his observations leads the reader to the conclusion that he is jealous of the happiness of these people. After suffering a great loss, one is inclined to wish they could once again experience the joy they see in others. This is further evident with the presence of the statement of but the tender grace of a day that is dead/Will never come back to me (15 16). The authors thoughts of jealousy and death lead to the main theme of this poem, sorrow. The author recalls the day that he was able to enjoy the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Police Accountability Essay This essay will describe the mechanisms by which the British Police are held to account, and will touch upon the paradox of police governance, the balance of unwanted coercion of police, financial stewardship and police legitimacy. This essay will also divulge into a discussion on the topic; is policing political? There will be an argument for and against, and the advantages and disadvantages to both sides will be conversed to achieve an accurate conclusion. In addition this essay will start by portraying the significance of PoliceAccountability. Police Accountability in both England and Wales, became a national political issue throughout the 1980 s, the issues mainly alarmed those who had power over the police, who ought to manage them and whether they were beyond democratic control. However, in recent years these issues have lost some of their debate and accountability now focus on police effectiveness and police performance. The police are to follow the rule of law and legislation (legislation is where powers of police are derived) and are subordinated to the law. Police also have allegiance to the crown, which serves as an alternative to the state, as a central organizing principle of government. The model known as the tripartite system (shown below) conveys police accountability and is the essential basis of police governance. It is established under the 1964 Police Act. The tripartite system evenly distributes responsibilities between the following: ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

America Is A Leading Political And Economic Superpower America is a leading political and economic superpower, most known for being the largest democracy and being founded with unreplaceable views of freedom, civil liberties, and the iconic American dream. Despite these great accomplishments, there is a growing problem in America that if not handled will be the greatest mistake in American history. Strict regulation on campaign contributions is necessary because they go against core principles of democracy including, encouraging abuse of power, decreasing political participation, and promoting an increase in political and financial inequality between the extremely rich and the rest of Americans. Big campaign donations promote corruption. This is known and yet nothing is done about these giant anti democracy rulings. In 2010 The Supreme court case Citizens United v. FEC ruled that campaign funding is protected as a form of free speech which broadens an already ridiculously unclear policy. One giant problem with this is that PACs and other individuals or organizations can receive and donate as much money as needed if they vow to spend the money independently from campaigns. These donors expect reimbursement. In America today, we are seeing a rapid increase of special interests infringing on the political process and this has to stop. Supporters of loose campaign finance regulations argue that donations are a form of protected free speech. They believe regulation should not interfere with the general gratitude a candidate ... • 15. Adler s The Neglect Of The Intellect Sloth In his article The Neglect of the Intellect: Sloth, Mortimer J. Adler asserts that the disuse of a person s intellect is a moral injustice. Adler coins the term sloth to describe the people committing this moral crime. He believes that people should use their intellectual abilities for their own personal pleasure rather than for economic or political gain. Adler employs an aggressive tone when describing the abuse of the intellect, and appeals to the reader s emotion when portraying intellect as a way the only way to live a morally good life. Adler s purpose is to convince his readers that intellect should be used solely for the purpose of increasing knowledge. While Adler s article gives a reasonably convincing argument about learning for your own well being, he fails to support his claims, baffles his readers with the overuse of intelligent sounding words, and neglects to explain why you should be intellectual just for the sake of it. Alder fails to support his claims. Because of this, his claims come across as opinions, not allegations. In paragraph 4, Adler says, Sloth is a moral fault, but unlike injustice that results in misconduct toward others, sloth is a moral fault that causes the misconduct of the individual s private life. This quote demonstrates how Adler makes a statement, but never elaborates on it. He calls the sloth a moral fault, but doesn t explain how that is true. Adler also mentions that your private life will be affected, but never precedes to explain how that could happen. Another example is when Adler states, But there are a great many more who have sufficient ability to make the effort and fail to do so (paragraph 3). Adler neglects to explain to the reader how this statement is true. He later lists the activities of the people he referred to engage in, but he never demonstrates an example of failure to use their intellectual abilities. Adler s failure to support his claims discredits his argument. Throughout his article, Adler uses intellectual language that can make it hard for his audienceto read. Words he uses like lethargy and torpor take away from the purpose of his article. Adler is trying to convince his audience to seek knowledge for enjoyment, but his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The shoulder joint, is commonly referred to as the glenohumeral joint (ball and socket joint consisting of the ball/end of the humerus bone that sits in the socket of the shoulder). The overall shoulder region also entails the shoulder girdle (the scapula /shoulder blade), and clavicle (collar bone). Essay on Laws of Evidence Memorandum To: From: Date:08/31/2012 Re:Laws of Evidence Assignment #2 Statement of Assignment You have asked me to analyze and determine whether the evidence that prosecution would like to introduce at trial can be admitted based on the Federal Rules of Evidence. Pursuant to your request, this memo includes my analysis, reasoning, and conclusions regarding the admissibility of such evidence. Statement of Facts The defendant was prosecuted for the murder of his wife. The victim s body was never recovered, no murder weapon was ever found, and there were no witnesses to the crime. At trial, prosecution would like to introduce the following as evidence: 1. A computer disk, found in the defendant s desk, that contains a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... See Fed. R. Evid. 403(2011). In order for it to meet the requirements to be excluded, the danger of unfair prejudice, confusing the issues, the jury being misled, undue delay, time being wasted, or unnecessary presentation of cumulative evidence has to greatly outweigh the probative value of the evidence. If harm that is not related to the legal issue of the case will be done to a party by the introduction of the evidence, then the evidence prejudicial. A fact often possesses both probative and prejudicial effects, in which case it is then left up to the court to determine if the prejudicial effects outweigh the probative value enough to exclude the evidence, or if the probative value of the evidence outweighs the prejudicial effects enough to deem the evidence as admissible. Prejudicial evidence tends to discredit the accused and make the jury dislike him/her more, and offers little or no insight to the matter of the case or assistance in the search for the truth. ANALYSIS ISSUE I Is the computer disk that was found in the defendant s desk containing a file named murder which appears to be a twenty six step guide on how to carry out a murder admissible evidence in this case? Although this evidence does not necessarily prove that the defendant is guilty of murdering his wife, it does have the tendency to prove that the defendant was interested in gaining the knowledge of how to carry out a ... • 18. Apple Martin Luther King Essay The nature of the universe is that it is not at all a random universe, but instead, is driven by people s believes. Everything has its own cause or purpose for its existence. Things that has a favorable cause or meet the demand and satisfy people will more likely to survive and grow in comparison with the others. Sinek gives three examples of Apple, Martin Luther King and Wright brothers to prove his point. He mentions that though they have the same aspects and conditions as others, what makes them different is that they all think, act and communicate the exact same way. If you talk about what you believe, you will attract those who believe what you believe . The example of the commercial advertising of Apple versus other competitors really reflects this statement. Just a change in the message of the product from the company can eventually impact the attitude of the customers and their decision of buying the product. If we do not see why we should one product although we see all its outstanding features, we just don t feel right and are not persuaded enough to purchase it. Thus, a successful company or people know clearly their purpose and strongly believe what makes them do that can influence other people s thought and believes. Thus, human beings are likely to prefer things that match their expectation and values or believes. They choose to follow those that they believe are right because they see themselves in those things. For instance, in Sinek s talk, numerous people showed up to hear Dr. King speak despite no invitation since they showed up for themselves. It s what they believed about America that got them to travel in a bus for eight hours to stand in the sun in Washington in the middle of August . In addition, Sinek uses biological structure of a human brain to explain the correlation between the human feelings and behaviors like decision making to prove why we need to feel right to be persuaded in doing ... • 20. Milton’s Paradise Lost Essay examples Milton s Paradise Lost has been praised as being the greatest English epic of all time, most stunningly in its author s depiction of the parents of humanity, Adam and Eve. How Milton chose to portray the original mother and father has been a focus of much criticism with contemporary readers. One of the main subjectsof these comments is in reference to Eve, who, according to many, is a trivial character that is most definitely inferior to her mate. Nonetheless, many do not recognize that, after the fateful Fall, she becomes a much more evolved character. When Eve is introduced to the storyline of the epic, her character is shallow and extremely undeveloped, meant simply for display. She is quite firmly set as being inferior to her mate... He also has Eve relate what happened to prove that Eve must indeed be beautiful if she herself was taken by her looks as she discusses how she pined with vain desire (IV, 466) for the image of her reflection. In fact, Eve s beauty is discussed repeatedly. For example, when Satan first sees the human couple, he is overtaken by Eve s beauty and submissive charms (IV, 498). Milton even goes so far to stress her beauty and charms as to have her stun Satan himself with it. Actually, as Satan is on his mission to seduce Eve into eating the apple, her beauty overtakes him. If chance with nymphlike step fair virgin pass, What pleasing seemed, for her now pleases more, She most, and in her looks sums all delight; Such pleasure took the Serpent to behold This flowery plant, the sweet recess of Eve Thus early, thus alone; her heavenly form Angelic, but more soft and feminine, Her graceful innocence, her every air Of gesture or least action, overawed His malice, and with rapine sweet bereaved His fierceness of the fierce intent it brought. Their new vulnerable status in the society led them to seek their own culture, such as participation to society activities and enrolment to the subscription library. It was essentially a private library, requiring a payment of a guinea for entry and another ten shillings or so for the annual subscription fee. In turn, the members were allowed access to the permanent collection of the books. Sergius Catilina plotted the murder of a number of senators, and planned to assume control over the Republic. The conspiracy is the depicted in Sallust s historiography, Bellum Catilinae, as well as it is the subject of Ciceros most famous speeches, In Catilinam I IV. Primarily, the fame of the unsuccessful rebellion known as the Catilinarian Conspiracy of 63 B.C. stems from the comprehensible body of work which details it, and to the surviving world, these works provides insight into the unstable political climate of the late Roman Republic. In addition to detailing this attempted rebellion, Sallust and Cicero also managed to create an image of the man which the conspiracy was named after, Catiline. As a result of Cicero s and Sallust s standing as giants within the body of Western history, the inevitable consequence of this is that the image which they constructed of Catiline is the one which has prevailed through the centuries. Strengths and Weaknesses in Aetiology and Treatment of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) By using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) individuals are able to be diagnosed and treated for many anxiety disorders, one of which is Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). OCD is an anxietydisorder associated with invasive thoughts, impulses and urges which can cause severe anxiety for an individual. These obsessive thoughts can then cause the individual to act compulsively to prevent the stress and anxiety that is occuring (American Psychological Association, 2013). According to CBT, OCD is caused by distorted cognitions and the way different thoughts are being interpreted (Whittal, Thordarson McLean, 2005). Treatment for OCD includes various CBT techniques including Psychoeducation, creating symptom hierarchies and then combining it with the behavioural technique of Exposure Response Prevention (ERP). Both the aetiology and the treatment of the disorder have strengths and weaknesses. The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM V) explains the criteria for OCD. OCD is considered to be an anxiety disorder in the DSM V. • 36. Revolution and Power Essay What is a revolution? Is it a country declaring its independence or the falling of the bourgeois? Is it brother fighting brother or the story of a nation emerging from its own ashes? Or is it neither? Revolution is the story of change: changing of power, changing of governments, changing of minds. Power has become an increasingly hard term to define, especially when it is so intertwined with some of civilization s most dynamic aspects, people and technology. Technology changes power. It is common knowledge to never bring a knife to a gunfight, or a gun to a bomb fight. In either scenario, one would not wish to be on the losing end, and technology is setting the bar higher each day. But, as stated before, power is intertwined with both... After the adoption of the gun in warfare, kingdoms that either chose not to adopt the technology, or simply could not afford it, did not fare well in combat against those kingdoms that did, making guns a wartime necessity. But guns cost money, and the common people had the resources. Thus a majority of Europe entered the age of debtors and the commodity of wealth. Guns were a large commodity because of their high demand and the skill required in their construction. Kings became indebted to their own people in their purchase of guns and, as a result, the dynamic of power shifted. As stated by Adam Smith in his book Wealth of Nations , the wealth of a nation did not depend upon the amount of gold in the king s treasury, but on the product of its citizens. With this redistribution of wealth came a redistribution of power and the emergence of a new public sphere; one that was increasingly interested in the political, economic, and social workings of their surroundings. Guns were not the only technological revolution that changed the workings of power. The printing press was arguably the greatest technological innovation ever created within the confines of historical media. Gutenberg and his printing press made possible the concept of mass consumption. Word of mouth was always a popular option for spreading knowledge and information but it was limited both by memory and locality. Along those same lines a liaison can potentially provide a direct military force to solve a problem when it is within their home country. So instead of just providing intelligence support they could also provide operational support as long as those lines of communication and understanding are in place. Potentially the most beneficial advantage to cooperation is that of providing a viable cover to mask U.S. actions or interests as local ones and concealing otherwise apparent U.S. behavior in foreign countries. There are also disadvantages to foreign intelligence relationships and liaisons which the United States must maintain a state of vigilance on (Rosenbach and Peritz, 2009). First the U.S. needs to be aware of the potential for conflicting interests. Relationships with adversaries could potentially provide them with sensitive information about interests, strategies, plans, or tactics critical to the U.S. This leads into hostile collection and the fact that liaisons or foreign partners may attempt to leverage their status in an effort to gain insight into United States intentions and or sources and methods. So as the U.S. is collecting in a foreign partner s back yard this could tip them off to sensitive strategies being utilized. The second characteristic is that consumers interact with each other and even company staff while producing value. Associations of individuals who work together create innovations and provide cultural and social capital (ibid.). • 42. The Role Of Leptin And Its Effects On The Reproductive... Role of leptin in PCOS. Leptin is a hormone secreted mainly from the adipose tissue, serum levels of which are influenced by obesity, insulin resistance and the levels of sex steroids (androgens and estrogens) and insulin. It is mainly involved in the regulation of body weight by decreasing appetite and increasing energy expenditure. Besides regulating the energy metabolism of the body, leptinhas important actions on the reproductive system, which makes it an important link between the adipose tissue and hypothalamus pituitary gonadal (HPG) axis (2). Long term hyperinsulinemia in humans, as is the case in PCOS patients, stimulates leptin secretion from adipose tissue (9). Significantly higher leptin (P = 0.0028), and insulin concentrations, insulin: glucose ratio (IGR), and a significant correlation between leptin and fasting insulin concentrations, IGR, WHR and LH have been reported in obese PCOS women than in normal weight women with PCOS. There is a significant negative correlation between leptin and LH concentrations, independently of either BMI or IGR, suggesting a possible involvement of leptin in LH hypersecretion (10). Estrogens increase, whereas androgens suppress leptin production, suggesting sexual dimorphism in leptin levels (2). The direct and indirect effects of leptin on the HPG axis, such as acceleration of GnRH pulsatility (but not the pulse amplitude) in a dose dependent manner, suggest that leptin may play an important role in the pathogenesis of PCOS. ...
