Third Grade ELA Classroom Analysis
Third grade composition is very subjective to instruction. Teaching students the basic structure of
literature is a key component to helping them to communicate in a meaningful way. One of the basic
concepts to literature is identifying the importance of the main idea and supporting details in writing.
There are a variety of ways to explore the concept of the main idea and supporting details of literary
works. Mrs. Peterson tackled this exact concept with her third grade ELA class using a variety of
instructional strategies and learning activities.
Mrs. Peterson began her lesson by using a goal setting strategy. This strategy was utilized by
beginning with the end result in mind. Mrs. Peterson framed the lesson by stating what the learning
objectives and goals were for her students before the lesson even took place. She also posted the
learning objectives on the board for students to view during the lesson. This tactic is helpful in case
students get off track, they can easily be reminded what the desired results are for the end of the
lesson.
Once lesson objectives were clearly communicated, Mrs. Peterson integrated academic vocabulary
using notes from the previous lesson. Journaling is a strategy that is used on a daily basis in Mrs. ...

Peterson used an inquiry based learning activity to allow students to make discoveries on their own.
The class was instructed to read an article called The Frog and the Toad. Students were asked to
identify similarities and differences between frogs and toads and record their findings in their spiral
notebook. Students were given approximately 10 minutes to read and record their finds. Once students
collected their data, they were asked to break into cooperative learning groups to conference about
their findings. Mrs. Peterson witnessed a great deal of sharing and debating which a wonderful
indication that students were able to defend their data with supporting

Reflection For A Student, Erosionle Ationure, And Bronle...
The students will write erosion in the center circle. In the upper left circle, the student will write water
. The student will write details about water erosion. The next day, the student will write wind in the
upper right corner. The student will write details about wind erosion. The student will write glacier in
the bottom left corner. The student will write details about glacier erosion. The bottom right corner
will not have anything in it.
Read to OR access to audio materials (books on tape): There is not any reading assigned during this
lesson. This lesson is strictly hands on and collecting data. Therefore, the students will not need to
have access to audio materials. Modifications
How would you modify this lesson for a student on AAA standards who will participate in your class
during this lesson? The student who is on AAA standards will follow the AAA standards necessary for
this lesson. The student will participate in the experiment will the other students. I would pair the
student who requires AAA standards with a group of students who are strong in science and math. The
student will be assigned the least difficult task to participate in with the group. (Day 1 hold the ruler.
Day 2 blow. Day 3 touch the clay.) The student will be assessed by participation with the group. The
student will explain if the group participated in water erosion, wind erosion, and glacier erosion. I will
accept the verbal answer of water for day one, wind for day two, and glacier or ice for day three. I
want the student to participate with the group as much as every other student does.
Assessment
What is one alternate testing method that you could employ to provide students with high incidence
disabilities a better opportunity to demonstrate their understanding? The students are being assessed
by comparing fractions by creating a bar graph comparing the effects of wind and water erosion. An
alternate testing method can be to ask the student which form of erosion made the mountain look
smaller. Depending on how severe the student s disability is, I would ask the student why the
mountain looked smaller compared to the other one.

The Inclination of Today’s Youths Towards Self-Harm
Many teenagers are suffering a hidden pain in the privacy of their homes. They secretly cut, burn,
scratch, pull hair, and bruise their bodies. The psychosis is termed non suicidal self injury
(NSSI).Teenagers are feeling pressures from typical insecurities of low self esteem, body image,
fashion trends, bullying, pressures from friends, and family issues. As a result, teens are turning to the
internet for strategies of how to deal with the pressures of life, making this topic more of a public
enigma, than a private suffering issue. NSSI is a growing phenomenon and parents and psychologists
should advocate safe internet sites, and force social media outlets to provide links for teens to access
healthier ways to manage their emotions.
NSSI behavior is on the rise and is more prevalent among our youth today; due to images, other teens
upload on the internet. Today many teens are accessing self harm images and content on the World
Wide Web, through YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram. The images are of the cuts and burns that
others have inflicted on themselves, while others are of diagrams depicting where to cut, that parents
and teachers will not notice. Some teens will use self injury to try to relieve their feelings of anxiety
and pressures they are feeling in their lives. According to Caitlin Dewey, in an article from The
Washington Post, an issue with internet sites is that they promote the activity as normal and healthy,
therefore encouraging teens to continue injuring

Relationship Between God And Adam
The bible remains a mystery to many people in society today. Therefore, the relationship between God
and Adam can be said to be a very complex relationship. Genesis shows us many examples of God s
interaction with Adam, apparently there is so much more about God s disappointment and righteous
anger in the garden. The world of Christianity fails to see there s so much more to the story about God
and Adam, I think many of us do the same. He was the first man, the father of mankind, however,
Genesis does not fill in the missing background information as to the reasons why man and woman
came to be the first rational, mortal creations of God s divinity. Moreover, most believers in the Bible
do not know the specific similarities and differences regarding the two humans characteristics, and
how their relationship impact each other as well as all other living creatures in the garden. We see the
wrath, but we miss the grace. The bible does not tell if Adam was Baptized and upon his death he
went to heaven, however many of religious leaders tried to read and to the relationship between god
and Adam, without facts to back it up. Non statement should not be used to formulate doctrine. A
conclusion cannot be drawn from something that God did not say. If Adam had been faithful, God may
have had any number of plans for Adam, none of which are touched upon in Genesis. If all other
aspects of earthly creation tend to decay and death it makes as much sense to conclude that human s

Animal Farm Symbolism Essay
Popular TV Series such as The Walking Dead , or games like The Last of Us tend to delve into the
total lack of social order at the destruction of civilisation as they know it, awhile impending evil
fictional forces rally against the heroes. Most of the time, these evil plights are a separate from the
humans themselves, by either altering their mindset by force, or otherwise. Rarely is the plight caused
by normal humans. But when the rules and morals of civilisation as we know it, are stripped past its

William Golding s stance in Lord of the Flies implies that humans will often succumb to their dark
and primal desires, and very rarely to their civilised ones (seeing only Ralph and Piggy considered
their civilised mannerisms) (Green, 2016). Psychologists theorise about a Tripartite or three aspects of
the mind. ID which is a humans most primal desires; and the Super Ego which is the ethical values
that person believes to be right and wrong. These two facets combine to the third, which is referred to
as Ego (Conscious mind) (McLeod, 2016). Golding started to believe that humans inherent desire is
savagely based (Green, 2016). There was a Beastie on the island with the boys, in which all boys
became frightened of. The Beastie was an imagining of the boys inspired by the body of a dead fighter
pilot in the trees suspended by his parachute. As the boys became less inclined to follow rules and go
hunting, they saw the Beastie more and more often. The Beastie finally manifested into a physical
being as the Lord of the Flies for the boy Simon, through the form of a pig s head. This Beastie was
the metaphor for the savagery in the boy s minds their ID facet and only Ralph, Piggy and Simon
could see past this to their Super Ego (civilised) mindset. One can also apply this mindset directly to

The Effects Of Major Depressive Disorder
Nearly 1 in 5 people will experience a major depressive episode at some point in their lives (Zhang,
Li, Sha, Bu, 2015). Major depressive disorder (MDD) is a widespread problem that can affect anyone
regardless of gender or age. MDD is one of the most common mental illnesses (with an estimated
lifetime prevalence of 16.6%) and is associated with significant impairments in social, occupational,
and educational functioning (Synder, 2013). Depression causes problems in a person s everyday life.
There are various treatment models that been found to help in the treatment and cure of depression.
The two most commonly used are psychotherapy and medicinal therapy. Psychotherapy comprises of
cognitive behavioral therapy, interpersonal therapy, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are also patients that will present somatic symptoms. Somatic symptoms refer to symptoms that
are experienced in the body such as: pain, nausea, dizziness, and fainting. In a random sample of adult
patients, 23% met criteria for a depressive order and 14.8% met criteria for an anxiety disorder,
however, none of those patients offered up any emotional complaints or suggested a psychological
reason for their somatic symptom (Gates, Petterson, Wingrove, Miller, Klink, 2016). Physicians need
to be aware of these symptoms to properly diagnose patients who are not willingly to admit they might
have any mental distress in their life. Major Depression Disorder affects all areas of life for the person
living with major depression disorder. When depressed, people struggle to perform normal everyday
activities. They have trouble concentrating on their work, they tend to isolate themselves from social
activities, become lethargic, and lose the ability to enjoy things that used to bring them pleasure such
as eating and sex. Cognitive impairments are now recognized as a significant facet of major
depressive disorder (MDD) (Snyder, 2013). The brain plays a vital role in fostering survival in life and
reproduction among species. When are brains are malfunctioning in ways such as in depression if

The Effect Of Uv Radiation On Surface Waters
1. Introduction Colored dissolved organic matter (CDOM) is an optically active component of total
dissolved organic matter (DOM), absorbing light strongly in the UV and visible spectral range, hence
influencing light availability in the aquatic environments [1]. Although CDOM protects marine biota
from the harmful effects of UV radiation in surface waters [2], it can also adversely affect primary
production and the ecosystem health by reducing the quality and the amount of photosynthetically
active radiation (PAR) to phytoplankton [3,4]. In estuarine environments, CDOM is primarily of
terrestrial origin and is characterized by the presence of humic acid produced by bacterial
decomposition of plant litter, animals and organically rich soils [5], whereas in situ production of
CDOM by bacterial and viral decomposition, excretion, grazing, and primary production dominates in
oceanic waters [6 9]. Coastal bays are important transition zones between marine and terrigenous
environments supplying elevated amounts of sediments, dissolved organic matter, and nutrients to the
coastal waters, making them optically complex and challenging for ocean color remote sensing
applications. For example, previous studies [8,10 12] have attributed errors in satellite based estimates
of chlorophyll a to elevated levels of CDOM in coastal waters. Barataria Bay together with the
neighboring Timbalier Terrebone Bay system has been designated as one of the 28 estuaries of natural
significance by the

The Chinese People s Liberation Army Essay
The Chinese People s Liberation Army: Ground Forces (PLAGF) began a massive military
modernization in the 1980 s and they have been continually reforming their training and education of
their ground forces ever since. Senior officials within the People s Liberation Army recognized that
improving the military skills and raising the education levels of both officers and troops alike were
necessary prerequisites if they wanted to be able to utilize more advanced weaponry and fight in this
day and age.
During the modernization of the People s Liberation Army funding was increased for military
education, the study of foreign militaries was incorporated into their training curriculum and contacts
with foreign military academies was increased. The leadership of the PLA focused their education
reforms on the military academy system. They also changed the scope of their training from being
highly politicized and emphasized in single unit infantry troop training, to concentrating on training
officers capable of directing combined arms warfare.
The Revival of the military academies system began in 1978, which the Cultural Revolution had
devastated. (Mao Zedong china s communist leader launched his plan to reassert his authority over the
Chinese government which is known as the cultural revolution.) By 1984 the military academy system
had over a hundred institutions that consisted of two kinds of schools: command schools and
specialized technical training centers. The rejuvenation of

The Standard Oil Company
In the mid 1800s, oil became a huge component of American lifestyle, as it was included in a lot of
things including medicine, lubricants, and kerosene for lighting. After Edwin Drake drilled the first
successful oil well in Titusville, Pennsylvania in August 1859 , many small oil companies began to
appear throughout northwestern Pennsylvania to capitalize on the new source of revenue.
By the 1860s, the oil industry consisted of four independent oil industries. These were the producers,
refiners, shippers, and distributors . Talks among the four industries was almost nonexistent. Due to
the lack of talking, John D. Rockefeller and Samuel Andrews saw a great financial opportunity ...

Another way by which Standard Oil was able to expand was when Rockefeller became worried about
the overproduction of oil, which would lead to falling prices. Due to his worries, Rockefeller made up
a plan with an alliance of refiners (people who owned the oil processing plants). By the end of 1872,
Standard Oil had acquired 34 former rivals, taken control of Cleveland, made alliances with several
key New York refiners, and secured even lower shipping rates . Due to such low shipping rates,
Standard Oil began to produce other products such as lubricants, candles, paints, and dyes.
As a result of how powerful Standard Oil was getting, both refiners and producers looked to bring
order to the oil industry. However, nothing was accomplished. Rockefeller took advantage of this
situation, and in August 1872, he became president of the National Refiners Association , an effort to
control the production and prices of oil. However, the refiners association lasted less than a year.
From 1873 1876, Standard Oil expanded drastically as its role in the oil business increased. This was a
cause of Standard Oil entering the pipeline business, as well as acquiring major oil plants in several
places including Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, New York.
In 1877, Standard Oil showed how powerful it was in a huge way. This was done by Standard Oil
defeating a major challenger, The Empire Transportation Company, a partner

Nadine Gordimer s Essay Rituals Of Memory
In a world where we can t agree on the simplest things from the correct pronunciation of GIF to the
best music or even the next president of the United States, it s hard to believe we can ever just get
along. However, has anyone ever thought that we weren t meant to agree and live in harmony?
Because our races and ethnicities make us unique, we don t trust each other, and we all have different
points of view, we can never live in harmony as one human race .
First, we can t live in harmony because our races and ethnicities make us unique/ make us see things
differently. Kimberly M. Blaeser s essay titled Rituals of Memory , she talks about having a Native

In Nadine Gordimer s short story Once Upon a Time she references points of racial prejudice in South
Africa. She sent the trusted housemaid out with bread and tea, but the housemaid said these were
loafers and tsotsis... You only encourage them with your bread and tea . Gordimer wrote the
unemployed people on the streets as people of color to show that even in areas of the world where
there is a larger population of colored people, there are still issues of white supremacy. They don t
trust their own neighbors and begin to ostracize themselves from society Also, in the Gettysburg
Address, Lincoln says Four score and seven years ago, our fathers brought forth on this continent, a
new nation... Now we are engaged in a great civil war, testing whether that nation or any nation so
conceived and so dedicated, can long endure. He is saying that even though our country is only eighty
seven years old, we were fighting already, so maybe it was never meant to be. Furthermore, in Anna
Quindlen mentions issues in the beginning of the United States in her essay A Quilt of a Country . She
mentions that this country is held together by ... the notion that all men are created equal, though
everyone knows that most men consider themselves better than someone. This compares to the agree
to disagree concept, where on the surface, humans appear to be fully capable of getting along without
bickering or fighting over the simplest things, but in reality, most humans consider their opinions or
themselves more important than others. Thus, it is clear that humans cannot live in harmony as one
human race because we don t trust each other and we don t consider ourselves

Summary Of Le Morte DArthur And Campbell s Mordred
Between Malory s Le Morte D Arthur and Campbell s Mordred: A Tragedy in Five Acts, people began
desiring more of a visually entertaining story with less stories being told in person and the emergence
of films which accounts for Campbell s version of the Arthurian story having a more physically evil
looking Mordred than the Mordred that Malory portrays. Campbell s version of the story also focuses
more on how Mordred is an illegitimate child while Malory focuses on Mordred being the son of King
Lot rather than of Arthur. The difference in parentage is because Malory lived during a time period
when the Christian religion was changing society with people s beliefs of what religion was changing
and the soon to be Protestant Reformation, so people would look down on a text that includes incest as
part of the main plot. Malory puts his focus on the actions that Mordred does and how he acts evil
towards others and those he hates. Campbell does not have Mordred commit as many evil deeds but
instead focuses on making Mordred seem inherently evil and grotesque. When Arthur is talking about
Mordred to Merlin in his disgust of his own illegitimate son he describes Mordred as, that that
blackness? to show his contempt for Mordred and how people view him (Campbell). Campbell further
has Mordred describe himself as dark, misshapen, and monstrous even though he has yet to commit
any true evil to give others any reason other than his appearance to see him as evil. Mordred even

change in macbeth character
Macbeth s character shows us the tragedy of over ambitious people; it also shows us that negative
aspects can overwhelm the good side of our personality.
Throughout this piece of writing I will be showing the changes within Macbeths character, which is
the only character within the play that has visible changes in his character. I will be describing these
points by inspecting the asides and soliloquies, which are both dramatic ironies that place the audience
in a privileged position as they are introduced to the characters thought pattern that gives them an
insight to how he may be feeling. All of which is unbeknown to other characters in the scene.
In Act I, Sc iii, when Macbeth is told that he is the Thane of Cawdor, he is ... Show more content on

and this explains how double faced and furtive devious he becomes.
Act IV, Sc I shows how Macbeth believes only in the witches, he trusts them and makes all his plans
and arrangement according to their prophecies. This doesn t only show us a mental change but also
how Macbeth lost his morality, honesty, and nobility and became more frenzied, no more mercy to be
thought of or shown and decides, The firstlings of my heart shall be
The firstling of my hand.
Comparing this to the first soliloquy in my piece of writing we perceive a tremendous development of
his personality and attitude. He is not hesitant about killing any more and will do any thing to keep his
throne and power.
Following his meeting with the witches they tell him to be ware Macduff and macbeth acts upon this
warning by sending murderers to kill His wife, his babes, and all unfortunate souls this act shows in
depth how immoral he becomes.
It didn t stop with killing the king, his friend, Lady Macduff and her children; Macbeth has lost even
the sense of what does love and family mean and becomes more selfish. In Act V, Sc v, the servant
informs Macbeth of the distressing sorrowful news about the death of Lady Macbeth But he replies
with cold nerves: She should have died hereafter;
There would have been a time for such a word
His wife is not one of his main concerns; he does not even respect the sanctity

Money And Spirituality
Money Spirituality Do They Mix? By Anisa Aven Aug 17, 2007 The hoary argument that you cannot
have both spirituality and abundance continues to proliferate and entangle the minds and experience of
many seekers. As a culture, we constantly deal with the subconscious remnants caused by the conflict
between money and spirituality. We have allowed toxic ideas to pervade our unlimited essence like a
virus destroying our intrinsic right to wealth and fulfillment. Ideas such as money is the root of all evil
, that it s easier to get a camel through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to get into heaven , and
that if you are rich, then you must be either a crook, selfish, or hardened abound in the global
consciousness poisoning our natural right to wealth. Additionally, the infamous subconscious
impression amongst many spiritual practitioners and seekers, you cannot be spiritual and a servant of
the Divine, if you charge for your talent or knowledge continues to be the self imposed prison that
forces many spiritual workers to thrash about in a sea of lack. These are just an infinitesimal sampling
of the money and spirituality don t mix disease. Indeed, if one becomes consumed with the pursuit of
wealth from the external vantage point, their spiritual unification will be compromised. They may
achieve wealth but at the cost of the fulfillment of their divine destiny and at the expense of personal
peace. On the other side, when one pursues

Terrestrial Planets Essay
1. What are the terrestrial planets?
The terrestrial planets are Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars. These planets are composed primarily of
silicate rocks with structures consisting of a central metallic core, mostly iron, with a surrounding
silicate mantle.
2. How were Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune formed?
Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune were formed by different types of rock and frozen materials
(water, ammonia, and methane). These materials were once planetesmals, which formed from the
rocky, metallic solid materials that were able to survive the collapse of the solar nebula which formed
our solar system.
3. What role do impact craters play on Venus? Which planet is Earth most like? In what ways is this
planet like Earth?
Venus ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Specifically, Mercury was once volcanically active, but no longer is. Eighty five percent of Venus
surface is made up of low lying volcanic plains. As we know, Earth has volcanoes. Mars has two large
volcanic systems, with the largest, the Tharsis region, stretching across 8,000 kilometers of the planet.
Volcanoes exist due to the buildup of pressure in the outer core. This forces the molten core up to the
surface of a planet, in the form of lava.
4. What are the characteristics of the inner planets? How do these vary from the outer planets?
Inner planets all contain a core, mantle, and crust. These planets are very dense and rocky. In
comparison to outer planets, inner planets are smaller, denser, and rockier.
5. What evidence is there to support that planets exist outside of our Solar System?
The discovery of other stars in early stages of formation support the fact that planets exist outside of
our solar system. These stars, surrounded by disks of gas and dust, are called proplyds. According to
astronomers, these disks are like that which the solar nebula was believed to be like, providing a good
source of evidence of other planets. Extrasolar planets, or planets outside of our solar system, are
believed to have formed from the distortion of the proplyd

Essay On Aussie Air Negotiations
Introduction
The Aussie Air negotiations were a series of five party talks between Down Under Air (DUA), the
Aussie Air Shareholders (AAS), Aussie Air Management, the Federal Government and the Aussie Air
Workers Unions. I was the united unions spokesperson for the negotiations, representing their interests
in order of priority: job security, current management s contract length and stock prices. This paper
will review the contents of the negotiations, relating them to key ideas and concepts gleaned from
research and lectures through thorough reflection and critical analysis. It will discuss the success of
the negotiations, the tactics used to claim value, the methodology of creating value, and the revision of
strategies with dynamic relationships as new information emerged. It will also examine the politics of
coalitions formed and the observations of cognitive biases and emotions.
The Negotiations Success
To comprehensively evaluate the success of the negotiations, there has to be a panoramic range of
measures to ensure favourable and/or fair outcomes on all fronts. ACME Engineering crafted
measures to expand the definition of success, some of which I used to discover successes and failures
in different aspects of the negotiations (Ertel 1999, pp. 60 62).

The Conspiracies Of Marilyn Monroe
Many of the most popular conspiracies around her death dealt with the Kennedy s; almost every
conspiracy involves the Kennedy s in one way or another. Over the years Marilyn Monroe had
relationships with a handful of different men. Many of those men had high ranking public statuses like
her, so their relationships with her were protected until her death. Some of the men that Marilyn was
involved with included: her ex husband Joe DiMaggio, President John F. Kennedy, Robert Kennedy,
and Frank Sinatra. Marilyn had trouble sticking with one guy at a time. She fell in love very easily,
making it hard for her resist these men. Marilyn was having affairs with both Kennedy brothers and

Marilyn Monroe s case was never truly solved. Investigators scrambled to find a justification and
came to the conclusion that she committed suicide and let the public believe so. According to Baker,
Baker, McNeil. (2012) if Monroe truly did commit suicide by pill overdose, they would have had to
have found pill residue in her stomach when doctors did the autopsy. However, they did not find any
residue of the pills, ruling out her potential suicide by overdosing on drugs. If Marilyn Monroe did not
commit suicide, she was murdered by Robert Kennedy on behalf of his jealousy of her relationships
with other men. Another explanation for him murdering her was that he was scared that if the public
found out about their affairs, it would ruin his public figure. According to Baker, Baker, McNeil

Success Factors And Risks Of The Company
Success factors and risks Even though AB InBev is the largest beer producer in the world they are still
focused on a growth oriented model. This has lead management to pursue a merger agreement with
MillerCoors, the second largest beer producer in the world. The resulting company will be a mega
brewery, responsible for 30% of the world s beer production (Bray, 2016). Management seems to be
confident that the merger with MillerCoors will increase sales and efficiency in the long run because
they are issuing out long term debt to help finance the project. The next three years will be interesting
as the company prepares the budget to accommodate the extensive 1 billion dollar plus cost of the

Regulator of inner ear progenitor fate and outer hair cell...
Question 1
Hollyfield: Regulator of inner ear progenitor fate and outer hair cell function.
Introduction
Located within the mammalian cochlea and critical to hearing function, the organ of Corti is a sensory
epithelium, comprised of auditory receptors, called hair cells, and their supporting cells. In avians, hair
cells and supporting cells share common progenitors in the auditory epithelia (Fekete et al., 1998;
Kirjavainen et al., 2008). During embryonic development it is crucial to have the right number of hair
cells and supporting cells from progenitor cells for proper organ function. Loss or even gain of
supernumerary hair cells and/or supporting cells can lead to deafness (Chen et al., 2008; Chen and
Segil, 1999; Mellado Lagarde et ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not only can the loss of inner hair cells lead to deafness, but so can the loss of outer hair cells. In rats,
loss of 1/3 of OHCs will cause hearing impairment, and 2/3 loss will lead to deafness (Chen et al.,
2008) .
Supporting cells: Within the organ of Corti, there are also five different types of supporting cells with
distinct morphologies: Hensen s cells are cuboidal or slightly oblong, inner phalangeal cells and
border cells are columnar, and Deiters and pillar cells are elongated and have strong cytoskeletons for
large structural demands (Wan et al., 2013). Like hair cells, supporting cells are also precisely
arranged in the organ of Corti, by rows from the outer edge to the inner edge of the organ in the order
of: Hensen s cells, Deiters cells, pillar cells, inner phalangeal cells, and border cells (Wan et al., 2013).
One should note that supporting cells do not just take up space in the auditory epithelium. Loss of
Deiters and pillar cells enviably leads to a loss of OHCs, causing deafness due lack of amplification
(Mellado Lagarde et al., 2013). In addition, supporting cells also provide trophic factors, which are
vital to the maintenance of spiral ganglion neurons (Monzack and Cunningham, 2013)

Difference Between Renewable Resources And Non Energy...
1/ A clear explanation of the difference between renewable resources and non renewable resources
Renewable resources can be used and replaced. Examples are fish stocks, forests, or water. They are
resources that will refilled by itself through reproduction, plantation and by nature cycle. They are
natural resources that technically regenerate itselves through ecological process.
Non renewable resources, such as coal, oil, gold and cooper, are land resources which once used will
never be replaced. Once they are used, the quantity of those kinds of resources would be reduced.
Scarcity may exist in this situation, Scarcity implies that there are unlimited wants in the world but

Examples of complements are tennis rackets and tennis balls, washing machines and soap powder,
DVD disks and DVD recorders. Economics theory suggests that an increase in the quantity demanded
of one complement will lead to an increase in the demand for another, result in an increase in the price
and quantity bought of the other complement. For examples, an increase in supply and the consequent
fall in price of I phone 6S will lead to a rise in the quantity of I phone 6S and a rise in demand of I

A good is in joint supply with another good when one good is supplied for two different purposes. For
instance, oil are supported for by product like petroleum and Vaseline health product. A cow may give
both leather and beef. When two or more goods are produced together, so that a change in supply of
one good will necessarily change the supply of the other goods with which it is in joint supply. Figure

and quantity demanded, bought and sold will increase.

A Freelance Writer At Three Online Companies
Currently I am a contracted freelance writer at three online companies. I just began being paid for
writing this year. I joined one company in January, one in February, the third in March. They are all
considered content farms . The first two companies work relatively the same, the third is a bit different
in that it it pays in lifetime royalties. I have only wrote five articles for the third company. They have
the most astringent requirements and their articles are all 500 words, in third person, and require
writers to provide sources in the footnotes. The first two companies have you write articles for your
application in order to rate your quality. The first company I contracted with recently upgraded my
writing and I was not aware of it for a while. This action allows me a larger pool of jobs to choose
from.
The first two companies both have pools of categorized jobs a writer may choose from. You may
choose any job at your rating or lower. Unfortunately there s been great upheaval in my personal life
this year and it has greatly affected my on time stats. Thereby making my writer s rating lower than
what I am capable of. I have wrote all my life. Poems, lists, ideas, everything really. I was a very

Michelangelo Contributions
Michelangelo was born in Caprese, region of Florence Italy on March 6, 1475, was born to a family
that had for several generations belonged to minor nobility in Florence but had, by the time the artist
was born, lost its patrimony and status. His father was an official with a well off position in the city
and his mother died when he was 6 years old.
Son of the Florentine arts, this magnificent sculptor, painter and architect, of the Italian Renaissance
manifested his artistic talent since very early on, being the art of the sculpture where he begins to
emerge.
Having to overcome the opposition of his family, at the age of 13 a family friend took him to the
workshop of the painter Domenico Ghirlandaio, particularly known for his murals, where he entered
in April of 1488, as an apprentice for a three year term. He remained there for only a year, after which,
under the tutelage of Bertoldo di Giovanni, he began to frequent the Medici Garden of San Marco, and
his talent drew the attention of Florence s leading citizen and art patron, Lorenzo de Medici, who
enjoyed the intellectual stimulation of being surrounded by the city s most literate, poetic and talented
men. De Medici extended an invitation to Michelangelo to reside in his palatial home of Via Larga,
where Buonarotti meet Poliziano and other humanists of the Medicean circle, where he got in touch
with the idealist theories of Plato, which become in one of the fundamental pillars of his life, and later
on there were reflected in his artistic work as a poet. From this youthful phase, the art of Michelangelo
presented original features that went beyond the simple imitation of the old. His figures showed an
intense strength, and appeared as if seized by an internal tension. The obsession with the
representation of the human body was a constant in his career. This interest in the human figure, and
more specifically in men, has been explained through the homosexuality of the artist, since his
relationship with the young patrician Tommaso dei Cavalieri is documented during his years of
maturity. Between 1490 and 1492, Michelangelo made his first drawings, studies on the Gothic
frescoes of Massacio and Giotto and the first reliefs, the Virgin della Scala

A Great Translator s Reflections On Oedipus The King
M. H. Abrams says that almost all literary theorists since Aristotle have emphasized the importance of
structure, conceived in diverse ways, in analyzing a work of literature (300). The matter of the
structure of Sophocles Oedipus Rex is a subject of varying interpretation among literary critics, as this
essay will reveal. In A Great Translator s Reflections on Oedipus the King, Gilbert Murray, professor
at Oxford University in England, cites structure as one of the reasons why he chose Oedipus Rex as a
work of translation: On the whole, I can only say that the work of translation has made me feel even
more strongly than before the extraordinary grip and reality of the dialogue, the deftness of the
construction, and . . . the unbroken crescendo of tragedy from the opening to the close (105). . . . But
Sophocles worked by blurring his structural outlines just as he blurs the ends of his verses. In him the
traditional divisions are all made less distinct, all worked over the direction of greater naturalness. . .
.This was a very great gain. . . .(107) Murray s appreciation of the crescendo of tragedy in Oedipus
Rex is echoed in the sentiments of another critic: In Oedipus Tyrannus: Tragic Heroism and the Limits
of Knowledge, Charles Segal says that the protagonist fares well in the first series of tests, but declines
towards his catastrophe in the second series: The first three tests are, respectively, Oedipus meetings
with Creon, Teiresias, and then Creon again.

Definition Of Conjoint Analysis
The foundation of the Conjoint Analysis go back to at least the 1920s, it is generally agreed that 1964
marks the start of the conjoint measurements (Luce and Tukey, 1964). Conjoint Analysis was
introduced to the marketing research community in the early 1970s (Green and Rao, 1971). Since
1970, it has become the most popular multi attribute choice model in marketing research community
(Cattin and Wittink, 1989).
This study uses the Conjoint Analysis methodology to estimate consumer s preferences and
acceptance of value added fish products in Oman. As shown in the previous chapters, the conjoint
methodology is widely accepted as a tool to evaluate consumer preferences for both market and non
market goods. This chapter reviews consumer utility and the steps involved in the implementation of
the Conjoint Analysis.

It is widely used in marketing research. Conjoint Analysis is based on the premise that the attributes of
a product form the basis of decision making in consumer choices. That is, consumers evaluate the
value of a product by combining the separate amounts of value provided by each attribute of the
particular product or services. So the consumers total utility is calculated by estimating part worth
utilities for the product attributes. Then the relative effect of each attribute level on the respondent
preference rating, and the relative importance of each attribute, can be determined. Conjoint Analysis
is often used in market studies when new products are being assessed, and when market data are not

Experiment to investigate factors affecting the rate of reaction between magnesium ribbon and

Rates of Reaction: Investigation
Experiment to investigate factors affecting the rate of reaction between magnesium ribbon and
hydrochloric acid.
Chemical reactions between substances are caused by the collision of particles. More collisions mean
a quicker rate of reaction.
In the reaction between hydrochloric acid and magnesium ribbon, the chemical reaction takes place
when the magnesium ribbon is dropped into the hydrochloric acid. The products are hydrogen gas and
magnesium chloride.
The equation for this reaction is as follows:
Magnesium + Hydrochloric acid Magnesium chloride + Hydrogen
Mg (s) + 2HCL (aq) MgCl2 (aq) + ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I predict this because of collision theory.
There will be more particles in a solution of hydrochloric acid with a higher concentration than in a
lower concentration, in the same volume of liquid. This means that particles in higher concentrations
will collide with magnesium particles more frequently, therefore increasing rate of reaction i.e. a
shorter time measured for the magnesium to be used up in reaction.
I can predict that rate of reaction will increase with concentration of acid. The quicker the rate of
reaction, the less time the reaction will take to be completed.
Therefore:
Rate of reaction 1 concentration of acid
time taken to react
So...
Rate of reaction concentration
time taken to react
Plan
I am intending to react a chosen length of magnesium ribbon with different concentrations of
hydrochloric acid. I will measure the time taken for the magnesium ribbon to disappear (be used up in
reaction) with a stop clock. This will be switched on when the piece of magnesium ribbon is dropped
into the hydrochloric acid seen to be reacting with the acid i.e. producing bubbles of gas, and switched
off when the magnesium is no longer visible no more new bubbles are being produced.
Results will be recorded in a results table, with 4 readings and an average time for each concentration
value.
I will conduct a preliminary experiment to investigate the optimum length of magnesium ribbon to be
used in my experiments.

Consequences Of Statistical Inferences Providing A Result
Consequences of statistical inferences providing a result rather than an answer could include
researchers incorrectly applying related management implications to their studies, when in reality they
are applying a treatment that was not correctly interpreted. This could result in the new study
producing a non significant result when a biologically significant result should have been detected.
Researchers desperate for a significant P value may claim an observation that was not present in the
study, or perform researchers degrees of freedom, which is defined as decision making as researchers
conduct the study, and not beforehand.
b. Truth cannot be derived from a single study; it must be repeated to increase the precision of the
study and therefore the strength of inference made about the results. Often, using the same sample and
similar methods will not procure similar results, and therefore a consensus of studies should be
provided to make a general claim. Studies that truly follow the scientific method and include
randomization and repeatability will be closer to discovering the truth than other studies.
c. In the vitamin E study, the first studies conducted on the effects on vitamin E continued to be cited
and defended even when new evidence showed their results were incorrect because they felt true. This

2. Sales Comparison Approach...estimates a property s value (or some other characteristic, such as its

This approach, like the name implies, entails comparing your property to the sale of comparable
properties in your market area. Adjusting for differences (such as numbers of bathrooms) by adding
(or subtracting) the approximate value of the differences to the sale price, you can get an indication of
what your property might sell for.
3. Income Approach...uses capitalization to convert the anticipated benefits of the ownership of
property into an estimate of present value.
This approach is rarely (I m guessing never) used by taxing jurisdictions to appraise single family
residential property. Larger metropolitan counties with a lot of market data use this approach to value
commercial properties. Essentially the income approach takes the potential rental income of your
property, deducts for anticipated operating expenses, and applies a capitalization rate to the left over

  • 2. Third Grade ELA Classroom Analysis Third grade composition is very subjective to instruction. Teaching students the basic structure of literature is a key component to helping them to communicate in a meaningful way. One of the basic concepts to literature is identifying the importance of the main idea and supporting details in writing. There are a variety of ways to explore the concept of the main idea and supporting details of literary works. Mrs. Peterson tackled this exact concept with her third grade ELA class using a variety of instructional strategies and learning activities. Mrs. Peterson began her lesson by using a goal setting strategy. This strategy was utilized by beginning with the end result in mind. Mrs. Peterson framed the lesson by stating what the learning objectives and goals were for her students before the lesson even took place. She also posted the learning objectives on the board for students to view during the lesson. This tactic is helpful in case students get off track, they can easily be reminded what the desired results are for the end of the lesson. Once lesson objectives were clearly communicated, Mrs. Peterson integrated academic vocabulary using notes from the previous lesson. Journaling is a strategy that is used on a daily basis in Mrs. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Peterson used an inquiry based learning activity to allow students to make discoveries on their own. The class was instructed to read an article called The Frog and the Toad. Students were asked to identify similarities and differences between frogs and toads and record their findings in their spiral notebook. Students were given approximately 10 minutes to read and record their finds. Once students collected their data, they were asked to break into cooperative learning groups to conference about their findings. Mrs. Peterson witnessed a great deal of sharing and debating which a wonderful indication that students were able to defend their data with supporting ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Reflection For A Student, Erosionle Ationure, And Bronle... The students will write erosion in the center circle. In the upper left circle, the student will write water . The student will write details about water erosion. The next day, the student will write wind in the upper right corner. The student will write details about wind erosion. The student will write glacier in the bottom left corner. The student will write details about glacier erosion. The bottom right corner will not have anything in it. Read to OR access to audio materials (books on tape): There is not any reading assigned during this lesson. This lesson is strictly hands on and collecting data. Therefore, the students will not need to have access to audio materials. Modifications How would you modify this lesson for a student on AAA standards who will participate in your class during this lesson? The student who is on AAA standards will follow the AAA standards necessary for this lesson. The student will participate in the experiment will the other students. I would pair the student who requires AAA standards with a group of students who are strong in science and math. The student will be assigned the least difficult task to participate in with the group. (Day 1 hold the ruler. Day 2 blow. Day 3 touch the clay.) The student will be assessed by participation with the group. The student will explain if the group participated in water erosion, wind erosion, and glacier erosion. I will accept the verbal answer of water for day one, wind for day two, and glacier or ice for day three. I want the student to participate with the group as much as every other student does. Assessment What is one alternate testing method that you could employ to provide students with high incidence disabilities a better opportunity to demonstrate their understanding? The students are being assessed by comparing fractions by creating a bar graph comparing the effects of wind and water erosion. An alternate testing method can be to ask the student which form of erosion made the mountain look smaller. Depending on how severe the student s disability is, I would ask the student why the mountain looked smaller compared to the other one. Differentiated Instruction Think about all the steps or all the things ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Inclination of Today’s Youths Towards Self-Harm Many teenagers are suffering a hidden pain in the privacy of their homes. They secretly cut, burn, scratch, pull hair, and bruise their bodies. The psychosis is termed non suicidal self injury (NSSI).Teenagers are feeling pressures from typical insecurities of low self esteem, body image, fashion trends, bullying, pressures from friends, and family issues. As a result, teens are turning to the internet for strategies of how to deal with the pressures of life, making this topic more of a public enigma, than a private suffering issue. NSSI is a growing phenomenon and parents and psychologists should advocate safe internet sites, and force social media outlets to provide links for teens to access healthier ways to manage their emotions. NSSI behavior is on the rise and is more prevalent among our youth today; due to images, other teens upload on the internet. Today many teens are accessing self harm images and content on the World Wide Web, through YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram. The images are of the cuts and burns that others have inflicted on themselves, while others are of diagrams depicting where to cut, that parents and teachers will not notice. Some teens will use self injury to try to relieve their feelings of anxiety and pressures they are feeling in their lives. According to Caitlin Dewey, in an article from The Washington Post, an issue with internet sites is that they promote the activity as normal and healthy, therefore encouraging teens to continue injuring ... • 5. Relationship Between God And Adam The bible remains a mystery to many people in society today. Therefore, the relationship between God and Adam can be said to be a very complex relationship. Genesis shows us many examples of God s interaction with Adam, apparently there is so much more about God s disappointment and righteous anger in the garden. The world of Christianity fails to see there s so much more to the story about God and Adam, I think many of us do the same. He was the first man, the father of mankind, however, Genesis does not fill in the missing background information as to the reasons why man and woman came to be the first rational, mortal creations of God s divinity. Moreover, most believers in the Bible do not know the specific similarities and differences regarding the two humans characteristics, and how their relationship impact each other as well as all other living creatures in the garden. We see the wrath, but we miss the grace. The bible does not tell if Adam was Baptized and upon his death he went to heaven, however many of religious leaders tried to read and to the relationship between god and Adam, without facts to back it up. Non statement should not be used to formulate doctrine. A conclusion cannot be drawn from something that God did not say. If Adam had been faithful, God may have had any number of plans for Adam, none of which are touched upon in Genesis. If all other aspects of earthly creation tend to decay and death it makes as much sense to conclude that human s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Animal Farm Symbolism Essay Popular TV Series such as The Walking Dead , or games like The Last of Us tend to delve into the total lack of social order at the destruction of civilisation as they know it, awhile impending evil fictional forces rally against the heroes. Most of the time, these evil plights are a separate from the humans themselves, by either altering their mindset by force, or otherwise. Rarely is the plight caused by normal humans. But when the rules and morals of civilisation as we know it, are stripped past its foundations; how well do humans change their ruling and social structure to suit? George Orwell s book Animal Farm besots itself with the restructuring of civil order after a revolution from the previous civil structure. He does this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... William Golding s stance in Lord of the Flies implies that humans will often succumb to their dark and primal desires, and very rarely to their civilised ones (seeing only Ralph and Piggy considered their civilised mannerisms) (Green, 2016). Psychologists theorise about a Tripartite or three aspects of the mind. ID which is a humans most primal desires; and the Super Ego which is the ethical values that person believes to be right and wrong. These two facets combine to the third, which is referred to as Ego (Conscious mind) (McLeod, 2016). Golding started to believe that humans inherent desire is savagely based (Green, 2016). There was a Beastie on the island with the boys, in which all boys became frightened of. The Beastie was an imagining of the boys inspired by the body of a dead fighter pilot in the trees suspended by his parachute. As the boys became less inclined to follow rules and go hunting, they saw the Beastie more and more often. The Beastie finally manifested into a physical being as the Lord of the Flies for the boy Simon, through the form of a pig s head. • 8. The Effect Of Uv Radiation On Surface Waters 1. Introduction Colored dissolved organic matter (CDOM) is an optically active component of total dissolved organic matter (DOM), absorbing light strongly in the UV and visible spectral range, hence influencing light availability in the aquatic environments [1]. Although CDOM protects marine biota from the harmful effects of UV radiation in surface waters [2], it can also adversely affect primary production and the ecosystem health by reducing the quality and the amount of photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) to phytoplankton [3,4]. In estuarine environments, CDOM is primarily of terrestrial origin and is characterized by the presence of humic acid produced by bacterial decomposition of plant litter, animals and organically rich soils [5], whereas in situ production of CDOM by bacterial and viral decomposition, excretion, grazing, and primary production dominates in oceanic waters [6 9]. Coastal bays are important transition zones between marine and terrigenous environments supplying elevated amounts of sediments, dissolved organic matter, and nutrients to the coastal waters, making them optically complex and challenging for ocean color remote sensing applications. For example, previous studies [8,10 12] have attributed errors in satellite based estimates of chlorophyll a to elevated levels of CDOM in coastal waters. Barataria Bay together with the neighboring Timbalier Terrebone Bay system has been designated as one of the 28 estuaries of natural significance by the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Chinese People s Liberation Army Essay The Chinese People s Liberation Army: Ground Forces (PLAGF) began a massive military modernization in the 1980 s and they have been continually reforming their training and education of their ground forces ever since. Senior officials within the People s Liberation Army recognized that improving the military skills and raising the education levels of both officers and troops alike were necessary prerequisites if they wanted to be able to utilize more advanced weaponry and fight in this day and age. During the modernization of the People s Liberation Army funding was increased for military education, the study of foreign militaries was incorporated into their training curriculum and contacts with foreign military academies was increased. The leadership of the PLA focused their education reforms on the military academy system. They also changed the scope of their training from being highly politicized and emphasized in single unit infantry troop training, to concentrating on training officers capable of directing combined arms warfare. The Revival of the military academies system began in 1978, which the Cultural Revolution had devastated. (Mao Zedong china s communist leader launched his plan to reassert his authority over the Chinese government which is known as the cultural revolution.) The Standard Oil Ellis McKay Gerry Wixted 01 23 2017 The Standard Oil Company In the mid 1800s, oil became a huge component of American lifestyle, as it was included in a lot of things including medicine, lubricants, and kerosene for lighting. After Edwin Drake drilled the first successful oil well in Titusville, Pennsylvania in August 1859 , many small oil companies began to appear throughout northwestern Pennsylvania to capitalize on the new source of revenue. By the 1860s, the oil industry consisted of four independent oil industries. These were the producers, refiners, shippers, and distributors . Talks among the four industries was almost nonexistent. Another way by which Standard Oil was able to expand was when Rockefeller became worried about the overproduction of oil, which would lead to falling prices. Due to his worries, Rockefeller made up a plan with an alliance of refiners (people who owned the oil processing plants). By the end of 1872, Standard Oil had acquired 34 former rivals, taken control of Cleveland, made alliances with several key New York refiners, and secured even lower shipping rates . Due to such low shipping rates, Standard Oil began to produce other products such as lubricants, candles, paints, and dyes. As a result of how powerful Standard Oil was getting, both refiners and producers looked to bring order to the oil industry. However, nothing was accomplished. Rockefeller took advantage of this situation, and in August 1872, he became president of the National Refiners Association , an effort to control the production and prices of oil. However, the refiners association lasted less than a year. From 1873 1876, Standard Oil expanded drastically as its role in the oil business increased. This was a cause of Standard Oil entering the pipeline business, as well as acquiring major oil plants in several places including Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, New York. In 1877, Standard Oil showed how powerful it was in a huge way. This was done by Standard Oil defeating a major challenger, The Empire Transportation Company, a partner ... • 13. Summary Of Le Morte DArthur And Campbell s Mordred Between Malory s Le Morte D Arthur and Campbell s Mordred: A Tragedy in Five Acts, people began desiring more of a visually entertaining story with less stories being told in person and the emergence of films which accounts for Campbell s version of the Arthurian story having a more physically evil looking Mordred than the Mordred that Malory portrays. Campbell s version of the story also focuses more on how Mordred is an illegitimate child while Malory focuses on Mordred being the son of King Lot rather than of Arthur. The difference in parentage is because Malory lived during a time period when the Christian religion was changing society with people s beliefs of what religion was changing and the soon to be Protestant Reformation, so people would look down on a text that includes incest as part of the main plot. Malory puts his focus on the actions that Mordred does and how he acts evil towards others and those he hates. Campbell does not have Mordred commit as many evil deeds but instead focuses on making Mordred seem inherently evil and grotesque. When Arthur is talking about Mordred to Merlin in his disgust of his own illegitimate son he describes Mordred as, that that blackness? to show his contempt for Mordred and how people view him (Campbell). Campbell further has Mordred describe himself as dark, misshapen, and monstrous even though he has yet to commit any true evil to give others any reason other than his appearance to see him as evil. Throughout this piece of writing I will be showing the changes within Macbeths character, which is the only character within the play that has visible changes in his character. I will be describing these points by inspecting the asides and soliloquies, which are both dramatic ironies that place the audience in a privileged position as they are introduced to the characters thought pattern that gives them an insight to how he may be feeling. We have allowed toxic ideas to pervade our unlimited essence like a virus destroying our intrinsic right to wealth and fulfillment. Introduction Located within the mammalian cochlea and critical to hearing function, the organ of Corti is a sensory epithelium, comprised of auditory receptors, called hair cells, and their supporting cells. In avians, hair cells and supporting cells share common progenitors in the auditory epithelia (Fekete et al., 1998; Kirjavainen et al., 2008). During embryonic development it is crucial to have the right number of hair cells and supporting cells from progenitor cells for proper organ function. In rats, loss of 1/3 of OHCs will cause hearing impairment, and 2/3 loss will lead to deafness (Chen et al., 2008) . Supporting cells: Within the organ of Corti, there are also five different types of supporting cells with distinct morphologies: Hensen s cells are cuboidal or slightly oblong, inner phalangeal cells and border cells are columnar, and Deiters and pillar cells are elongated and have strong cytoskeletons for large structural demands (Wan et al., 2013). Like hair cells, supporting cells are also precisely arranged in the organ of Corti, by rows from the outer edge to the inner edge of the organ in the order of: Hensen s cells, Deiters cells, pillar cells, inner phalangeal cells, and border cells (Wan et al., 2013). One should note that supporting cells do not just take up space in the auditory epithelium. Loss of Deiters and pillar cells enviably leads to a loss of OHCs, causing deafness due lack of amplification (Mellado Lagarde et al., 2013). • 33. Michelangelo Contributions Michelangelo was born in Caprese, region of Florence Italy on March 6, 1475, was born to a family that had for several generations belonged to minor nobility in Florence but had, by the time the artist was born, lost its patrimony and status. His father was an official with a well off position in the city and his mother died when he was 6 years old. Son of the Florentine arts, this magnificent sculptor, painter and architect, of the Italian Renaissance manifested his artistic talent since very early on, being the art of the sculpture where he begins to emerge. Having to overcome the opposition of his family, at the age of 13 a family friend took him to the workshop of the painter Domenico Ghirlandaio, particularly known for his murals, where he entered in April of 1488, as an apprentice for a three year term. He remained there for only a year, after which, under the tutelage of Bertoldo di Giovanni, he began to frequent the Medici Garden of San Marco, and his talent drew the attention of Florence s leading citizen and art patron, Lorenzo de Medici, who enjoyed the intellectual stimulation of being surrounded by the city s most literate, poetic and talented men. De Medici extended an invitation to Michelangelo to reside in his palatial home of Via Larga, where Buonarotti meet Poliziano and other humanists of the Medicean circle, where he got in touch with the idealist theories of Plato, which become in one of the fundamental pillars of his life, and later on there were reflected in his artistic work as a poet. From this youthful phase, the art of Michelangelo presented original features that went beyond the simple imitation of the old. His figures showed an intense strength, and appeared as if seized by an internal tension. The obsession with the representation of the human body was a constant in his career. This interest in the human figure, and more specifically in men, has been explained through the homosexuality of the artist, since his relationship with the young patrician Tommaso dei Cavalieri is documented during his years of maturity. Between 1490 and 1492, Michelangelo made his first drawings, studies on the Gothic frescoes of Massacio and Giotto and the first reliefs, the Virgin della Scala ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. A Great Translator s Reflections On Oedipus The King M. H. Abrams says that almost all literary theorists since Aristotle have emphasized the importance of structure, conceived in diverse ways, in analyzing a work of literature (300). The matter of the structure of Sophocles Oedipus Rex is a subject of varying interpretation among literary critics, as this essay will reveal. In A Great Translator s Reflections on Oedipus the King, Gilbert Murray, professor at Oxford University in England, cites structure as one of the reasons why he chose Oedipus Rex as a work of translation: On the whole, I can only say that the work of translation has made me feel even more strongly than before the extraordinary grip and reality of the dialogue, the deftness of the construction, and . . . the unbroken crescendo of tragedy from the opening to the close (105). . . . But Sophocles worked by blurring his structural outlines just as he blurs the ends of his verses. In him the traditional divisions are all made less distinct, all worked over the direction of greater naturalness. . . .This was a very great gain. . . .(107) Murray s appreciation of the crescendo of tragedy in Oedipus Rex is echoed in the sentiments of another critic: In Oedipus Tyrannus: Tragic Heroism and the Limits of Knowledge, Charles Segal says that the protagonist fares well in the first series of tests, but declines towards his catastrophe in the second series: The first three tests are, respectively, Oedipus meetings with Creon, Teiresias, and then Creon again. ... Conjoint Analysis was introduced to the marketing research community in the early 1970s (Green and Rao, 1971). Since 1970, it has become the most popular multi attribute choice model in marketing research community (Cattin and Wittink, 1989). This study uses the Conjoint Analysis methodology to estimate consumer s preferences and acceptance of value added fish products in Oman. As shown in the previous chapters, the conjoint methodology is widely accepted as a tool to evaluate consumer preferences for both market and non market goods. This chapter reviews consumer utility and the steps involved in the implementation of the Conjoint Analysis. 3.1. Review of Consumer Utility ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is widely used in marketing research. Conjoint Analysis is based on the premise that the attributes of a product form the basis of decision making in consumer choices. That is, consumers evaluate the value of a product by combining the separate amounts of value provided by each attribute of the particular product or services. So the consumers total utility is calculated by estimating part worth utilities for the product attributes. Then the relative effect of each attribute level on the respondent preference rating, and the relative importance of each attribute, can be determined. Experiment to investigate factors affecting the rate of reaction between magnesium ribbon and hydrochloric acid Rates of Reaction: Investigation Experiment to investigate factors affecting the rate of reaction between magnesium ribbon and hydrochloric acid. Chemical reactions between substances are caused by the collision of particles. More collisions mean a quicker rate of reaction. In the reaction between hydrochloric acid and magnesium ribbon, the chemical reaction takes place when the magnesium ribbon is dropped into the hydrochloric acid. The products are hydrogen gas and magnesium chloride. The equation for this reaction is as follows: Magnesium + Hydrochloric acid Magnesium chloride + Hydrogen Mg (s) + 2HCL (aq) MgCl2 (aq) + ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I predict this because of collision theory. There will be more particles in a solution of hydrochloric acid with a higher concentration than in a lower concentration, in the same volume of liquid. This means that particles in higher concentrations will collide with magnesium particles more frequently, therefore increasing rate of reaction i.e. a shorter time measured for the magnesium to be used up in reaction. I can predict that rate of reaction will increase with concentration of acid. The quicker the rate of reaction, the less time the reaction will take to be completed. Therefore: Rate of reaction 1 concentration of acid time taken to react So... Rate of reaction concentration

  • 40. Consequences Of Statistical Inferences Providing A Result Consequences of statistical inferences providing a result rather than an answer could include researchers incorrectly applying related management implications to their studies, when in reality they are applying a treatment that was not correctly interpreted. This could result in the new study producing a non significant result when a biologically significant result should have been detected. Researchers desperate for a significant P value may claim an observation that was not present in the study, or perform researchers degrees of freedom, which is defined as decision making as researchers conduct the study, and not beforehand. b. Truth cannot be derived from a single study; it must be repeated to increase the precision of the study and therefore the strength of inference made about the results. Often, using the same sample and similar methods will not procure similar results, and therefore a consensus of studies should be provided to make a general claim. Studies that truly follow the scientific method and include randomization and repeatability will be closer to discovering the truth than other studies. c.
