The Perils And Privileges Of Auto Ethnography
Reading Response Week 4: The Perils and Privileges of Auto Ethnography
Although not mentioned in this week s Marshall/Rossman chapter, feminism and autoethnography has
popped up before in prior readings, so there is some familiarity with both concepts. Now comes what
their synthesis looks like in practice. In this light the readings forced me to re examine positionality,
especially in the framework of auto ethnography. At first I thought this was too obvious but in light of
the titular question Stacey asks Can There Be a Feminist Ethnography? the feminist researcher s
proximity to the data and interpretation positionality becomes the fraught answer to consider, Her
awkwardness (if that s the right word) in balancing the tightrope as an ethical researcher between
product and personal integrity feels unexpected yet palpable. The dilemma she faces forced my
recognition that conflicts of interest and emotion between the ethnographer as authentic, related
person (i.e. participant), and as exploiting researcher (i.e. observer) (23). I feel as if she as a feminist
researcher was startled by the dilemma she faced and wonder if her surprise was compounded by not
anticipating it . How much an epiphany is it to learn that participants come with their own agendas?
Therefore participants come with their own inherent powers which threaten to usurp the researcher
and her own objectives. In the wake of this surprise she asks the provocative introspective question

Practicing Professionalism
Professionalism is the competence expected of an individual to properly execute given tasks. In dance,
it is important to introduce respect, organization, and focus as the essentials of a performer.
Establishing professional methods in class will assist others in distinguishing your dedication and
commitment to the artform. Practicing professionalism in daily performance leads to improved
performance in the future because of repetitive conduct during classes. If a dancer consistently puts
forth the effort to work hard and focus in class, they are more likely to adopt these concepts into their
everyday lifestyle and develop their talent more. Famous ballerinas such as Misty Copeland and
Tamara Rojo have led successful careers in the world of

Christmas, Hanukkah, Easter, And Halloween
Christmas, Hanukkah, Easter, and Halloween. All these holidays are associated with sugary treats, but
which one counts on those the most? Recently, the holiday that relies most on candy has become a
highly controversial issue in our community. It can be statistically proven that Easter, in fact, is
preponderant with candy considering that it is most dependent of candy. Taking a side in this situation
may be difficult, which is why I will assist you to come to a decision. According to the NRF (National
Retail Federation), 80% of the population are reported to plan to celebrate this spring holiday. Mark
Fahey stated in his article, Americans bought $832 million in creme filled eggs, chocolate rabbits and
colored marshmallow Peeps, according to Nielsen data. That narrowly beats out Halloween as the
most lucrative week of the year for candy retailers. What I tell you nest may come to a surprise. To
begin with, 80% of all United States are reported to have planned a celebration of Easter. Easter
consists of piles of candy given to children usually on the third Sunday of April. Easter is all about
candy, I mean, that is what signifies it. 80% is a lot, in other words a vast amount of candy is selling.

Case Study Of Neuromarketing
IMPORTANCE OF THE PROJECT:
For quite a long time, advertisers utilized demographics as a point of convergence of their battles and
in spite of the fact that that strategy works, there is another type of marketing that is picking up a ton
of consideration.
Marketing is about making a premium and buzz around an item/benefit keeping in mind the end goal
to expand deals, yet now advertisers are utilizing neuroscience as an approach to target particular
gatherings. Customary marketing has constantly centered around the conscious mind by approaching
customers about their purchasing encounters and adverts. This exploration will dependably be
imperative yet there is a farthest point to how much understanding it can offer.
Neuromarketing is a totally ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

ACADEMIC LITERATURE:
Marketing has generally focused on value and competitive advantage. In any case, a more holistic way
to deal with marketing, including the enthusiastic part of the basic leadership process is increasing
impressive ground in contemporary marketing. This line of research compares extremely well with
Kotler s most recent Notion of marketing, Marketing 3.0 in which he contends for a need of
companies to address shoppers as entire individuals, which he characterizes as comprising of four
parts: physical body, mind, heart, spirit. Kotler now contends for the need of companies to address the
emotions of their customers and intend to comprehend their tensions and their longings, if they want

The Trump s Political Rise During The Presidential...
The Trump Effect
Donald Trump s meteoric political rise during the Presidential Election of 2016 put attention on the
media and the way they covered the election and will forever change both politics and media going
forward. The media was shown to be a bias, ratting chasing, and corrupt extension of the political
parties. We will encompass the entire campaign from the June 2015 announcement that he was
running, covering the primaries, then to the convention, along the path of the general campaign, and
finally in the post election coverage. We will look at the financials, the main stream medias role, and
changes that are necessary going forward.
Let us start with a recap. On Tuesday June 16, 2015 Donald J. Trump came down the escalator at his
Trump Tower property and announced the official launch of his presidential campaign. Much like
everything else he did in this campaign it was mired in controversy as this was the venue of the
infamous statement and I quote when Mexico send their people they aren t sending their best their
rapist, their murders and drug dealers... Initial reaction to Trump s announcement was mixed. Some
thought it was a P.R stunt thinking he would quit after a few weeks, others started calling foul on his
bigoted and racist statements against Mexicans, and yet some where excited having longed for a
common sense business minded person to run the country.
Trump started the Republican Primary Process against 18 opponents. The top ten were invited to

Marketing Options, And Apply For Various Licenses And Permits
After completing high school in Nigeria, I immigrated with my siblings to the United States in the fall
of 2003. While the opportunity to reunite with our mother was a momentous one, our joy will be
muted a few weeks later when we realized the daunting task that laid ahead: a single parent taking
care of five children alone would be no easy feat! Even as she picked up more shifts at the nursing
home where she worked, the cost of college tuition and other essentials had us barely getting by. The
next summer, we embarked on the lofty goal of opening a home healthcare business, one that would
the sustain the family and still allow her spend time with my siblings and me. Barely 17, I found
myself in charge of creating the business policies and procedures to meet established state and other
health organizations standards. Each evening after completing my college work, I would draft the
business guidelines, explore marketing options, and apply for various licenses and permits. 18 months
later, it seemed that all the hard work and patience had paid off our business had passed a rigorous
state inspection. Running a healthcare business was challenging, but due to our hard work and ability
to put the needs of our patients first, the business thrived. More importantly, this experience made me
yearn for a more intimate relationship with medicine. Rather than experience healthcare via the lens of
a business, I wanted to be the one caring for the patient. I completed a degree in

How To Raise Babies
There will be times after bringing a newborn home that thoughts of never sleeping normally again will

sleep and rest when possible. The infant will not be sleeping throughout the night for a number of
weeks, possibly months. During this adjustment period, there will be many sleepless days and nights
for parents. Until the baby is sleeping throughout the night, you must learn to sleep when he/she does.
Most mothers have gotten into a habit of trying to do things while the baby sleeps but this is a bad
habit for raising babies and will tire you out. You cannot be a Superwoman! The important thing is to

Eating Disorders And Anorexia Nervosa
Eating disorders are a sickness that can come from psychological issues and it can disrupt the
everyday diet. A person with an eating disorder may have started out just eating smaller or larger
amounts of food, but at some point, the urge to eat less or more spiraled out of control. The common
eating disorders are anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa. Anorexia nervosa is when someone see s
themselves as an overweight person, so they watch what they eat since, they have a fear of becoming
overweight. The disorder takes over them and their focus is to avoid becoming overweight. Bulimia
nervosa is when someone eats large amounts of food at one time and not being able to control how
much they take in. Researchers are finding that eating disorders are caused by a complex interaction of
genetic, biological, behavioral, psychological, and social factors.
Anorexia nervosa can come from having been sexually abused or having family that are too
controlling over what they do. Most often diagnosed in females (up to 90%), Anorexia is characterized
by failure to maintain body weight of at least 85% of what is expected, fear of losing control over your
weight or of becoming fat. The person with the disorder often visualizes themselves in a mirror and
seeing an overweight person staring back at them which is their reflection. Treatment for anorexia

Timber Beloved The Sky
I chose Carr s painting Sconed as Timber, Beloved of the Sky for the main reason that as soon as I
opened up the image my eyes instantly widened from the tree standing in the middle casted upon by
light. The perspective of this painting is from a low angle and I believe that was this was done in order
for us to admire the entire tree as it s almost alienated from the rest of them. In chapters two and three
of the textbook, Berger says that perspective is the basis of images and makes them seem more
realistic and even draws us into them as if we are part of the images themselves. The image itself is
composed of oils in order to give the painting a smooth look overall. The oils also promote the
blending and making of various colors therefore

Description Of An Information System
Oxford Dictionary: An information system which allows the user to analyse, display, and manipulate
spatial data, such as from surveying and remote sensing, typically in the production of maps;
abbreviated GIS.
An information system is something that businesses use to get information across the business from all
sections, for example NRC would take information from tutor s attendance sheets and send that to
Human Resources, they would then make decisions based on this information. Businesses today are
opting towards an online information system rather than the old fashioned methods.
Every system today has the game overall goals/outcomes with those being, Input leading to process
leading to the output which then is followed by the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is also known as an operational system.
The second tier would be called the technical system, this would be managing information system
which is the process that the business uses to obtain and send out reports of the business itself as a
whole, for example for NRC this would be able to track the staff attendance, student attendance, most
popular courses, least popular courses and file reports based on this.
Below is a screenshot from the NRC website showing the application button as well as this, below the
previous screenshot will be one that shows the courses available on the website
The final type is the strategic, for this I ve chosen decision support, this is the system that businesses
would use to attempt to find the best possible outcome for certain situations, the business is able to ask
the system a question and then the system would respond with options, for example if NRC was to use
this system and ask it how to improve the college, the system would respond with multiple methods
that the college could use.

Federal Circuit Upholds Joint Infringement Defense Recently, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the
Federal Circuit announced its 2 1 decision in Akamai Techs., Inc. v. Limelight Networks, Inc.,
upholding the joint infringement defense under which a patent cannot be infringed upon if the
infringement relies on two or more parties acting independently. A June 2014 ruling by the U.S.
Supreme Court in Limelight Networks v. Akamai reversed a 2012 decision by the Federal Circuit that
had held Limelight liable for infringing an Akamai patent that covered methods for storing and

The Supreme Court struck down this concept of divided infringement, saying that for infringement to
apply, all the steps must be performed by a single entity or entities joined together via contract or other
arrangements. Applying the June 2014 Supreme Court decision, the Federal Circuit found that
Limelight did not control or direct the actions of its clients. Although a contract existed between
Limelight and its clients, the contract did not require clients to perform certain steps that Limelight did
not itself perform. Consequently, Limelight committed no direct infringement and therefore, there was
no indirect infringement. The Akamai case has potential wide ranging implications in patent litigation
and transactional law pertaining to joint technology ventures. The case has been litigated since 2006.
Following this latest Federal Circuit decision, Akamai announced that it would seek a Federal Circuit
en banc review of the most recent ruling and, if necessary, take the joint infringement issue to the U.S.

After a gunman bore down on Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, Maddy Wilford lay bleeding
from three bullet wounds, so pale that officers responding to the carnage first thought she was dead.
One of them shook her, hoping for a response, said Lt. Laz Ojeda of the Coral Springs Fire

Ms. Wilford, 17, walked into a conference center at Broward Health North hospital flanked by her

Democratic Morality and the Administrative Law Essay
John Rohr views on Democratic Morality and the Administrative Law and how these laws affect the
organizations. Democratic Morality deals with the issue that large organizations will have more
control or influence on the development of policy. The Administrative law is concern with the legal
aspect of the organization and the fairness across the board. The author examines the administrative
law of democratic morality between the periods of 1800s and 1900s, with emphasis on the how
democratic morality was used to bring about changes in the organizations. The author point is that

administration and to promote respect for all people, government or non government. The author feels
that the importance of administrative discretion is to help regulate the policies that have been
implemented by administrative law. The managers that make these policies on behalf of the agency
enjoy a wide range of discretion when participating in an agency s decision making process. The
questions ask, the complaints made, the decisions postponed, the responsibilities avoided. These forms

On Children ages 6 12, parental divorce can negatively impact education. This age group is still in
what psychologists call the magical thinking stage; which means they usually are very optimistic and
wishful that their parents will get back together. The children of ages 6 12 feel responsible for the
separation of their parents but can also feel it s their duty to reconcile their parents back together; they
cannot fathom the idea of their parents who belong to them in a sense not living together. When
parents divorce their teen s attitudes about sexual behavior changes, teens chances of premarital sex
and thoughts about divorce rises while thoughts about marriage is reduced. American and British
studies displayed that teen daughters of divorced parents will be highly likely to endorse premarital
sex and have early sexual intercourse outside of marriage. In recent studies it has shown that the rate
of virginity among teenagers is highly correlated with the presence or absence of married parents.
Usually when a divorce happens the teen goes to live with the mother but because of the divorce the

The Methodist Hospital Of Indiana
Problem summary
The Methodist hospital of Indiana was undergoing organizational and leadership change in 1988.
Their longtime head had retired and William J. Loveday became their new CEO. He brought in a
whole new management team to help him implement new ideas and create a new culture there. His
new CFO was in charge of the IS department and after discovering that the department was in
shambles with no real direction, he hired Walter C. Zerrener to become the Chief Information Officer.
Zerrener found that the Methodist Hospital had spent about $20 million to install a state of the art
proprietary patient management system called TDS in 1970s but had done no upgradation after that .

They also allowed the outdated technology to be maintained instead of replacing it with new
technology. The organizational structure created problems for the systems used at Methodist as well.
All the departments using the old system had no problem internally, but they were not connected with
any other departments. There was no common database and processes. For example, different
departments used different patient identifiers and when physicians needed information on a patient s
history, they could not get it from the various computers because the patient was identified differently
in each of them. This created a lot of dissatisfaction for both the doctors and the patients.
Technologically they were dependent on an outdated system which created a backlog of five to seven
months. Further, the mainframe system could only be accessed from terminals inside the hospital
which made it inaccessible to doctors, patients and other interested parties. The system could only
keep current information on patients formally admitted for a week and if older records were required
one had to go look at the paper records. All of these created a disorganized and fragmented working
environment.
Process Evaluation
Zerrenner suggested they create a short term task force of 25 members to determine an appropriate
solution instead of using the IS

Shakespeare, is the dialogue and the colors. For the dialogue both directors use some of the same lines
of the William Shakespeare play. Part fools! Put up our swords; you know not what you do (Act I,

Parkinson s disease, is a loss of nigrostriatal dopaminergic neurons that is progressive and chronic
throughout the body1. Parkinson s disease is also a neurodegenerative development disorder.
Scientists and researchers have yet to discover new medications to interrupt the diminishing neurons

Hepatitis B Vaccine
Hepatitis B Vaccine
Hepatitis B is the most common liver infection in the world and is caused by the hepatitis b virus. The
hepatitis b virus enters the body and travels to the liver via the bloodstream. In the liver the virus
attacks the healthy liver cells and then multiplies. The cells create copies of them selves and the
multiplying of the virus cells then triggers a response from the bodies immune system. Most people at
this stage of the virus are unaware the have the virus as there are no symptoms that can be seen or felt.
Hepatitis B can lead to cirrhosis (scaring of the liver), liver cancer or liver failure if not treated quickly
enough. Some signs and symptoms of hepatitis include abdominal pain, dark urine, fever, joint pain,
loss ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A dead or watered down version of the disease is injected into your blood stream from a needle and
this will stimulate the bodies immune system to make antibodies that will be able to fight of the
disease. Antibodies will form and these will protect the body from the hepatitis disease if your body
comes into contact with the disease. Your body will remember how to make these antibodies so if you
do come in contact with Hepatitis B later on your body will already know how to fight it off. Other
ways to stop the spread of Hepatitis B include washing your hands thoroughly after any potential
exposure to the virus or its carrier ,avoiding direct contact with blood and other bodily fluids that are
infected with the virus, cleaning up blood spills with a fresh diluted bleach solution as soon as
possible, avoiding sharp objects like razors that have been used by someone else and not sterilized
properly, avoiding illegal drugs and always make sure that needles are sterilized before using them.
The science community is helping to keep the spread of Hepatitis B by developing the vaccines used
and the government is providing the community with a way to stop the spread of hepatitis by giving
theses vaccines to all high school aged children and babies when the have been born. The vaccines
that have been developed to stop hepatitis b are stopping lots of people from getting extremely sick or
ill. Hepatitis can not be spread by touching another person unless bodily fluids are exchanged so it is a
good idea to make sure that when touching another person you where gloves and keep all contact

American Impressionism During The Nineteenth Century
American Impressionism took shift in Paris, 1874 by a group of artists called the Anonymous Society
of Painters. They organized an exhibition in Paris that launched the movement called Impressionism.
Impressionists depicted the everyday lives of middle class people by using natural light and rapid
brushwork. In addition to their fundamental technique, the bright colors of Impressionist canvases
were shocking to people who were used to the more moderate colors of Academic painting. The paints
themselves were more vivid as well. In the nineteenth century there was a development of unatural
pigments for artists paints, providing vibrant shades of blue, green, and yellow that painters had never
used before.1 Impressionism was never thought of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some were captivated by the energy of urban life, responding to the fragmented experience that
marked the age in rapidly depicted scene.3
One artist that was part of the impressionist movement was Claude Monet. Monet was raised in
Normandy and lived from 1840 1926. He consistently depicted the landscape of leisure activities in
Paris and its territories. By developing a unique style of perceiving nature, he led the way to
modernism in the twentieth century. One of his paintings that was painted during this time period was
the Regatta at Sainte Adresse. This painting is on view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 818.4
This painting has many elements to it that makes it appealing. It is an oil on canvas painting. In the
painting it is an average day and there are people lounging on the beach. The people are dressed in
fancy clothing; suit jackets, hats, holding canes. The women are wearing dresses and holding
umbrellas to shield the sun. The coastline of the beach is wavy, this way we can see the buildings at
the end of the painting because it goes around in a circular way. The beach is rocky. The sky is light
blue with white clouds that descend back into the painting, almost as if they are drifting behind the
houses. The ocean isn t overlapping the beach, it meets it perfectly. The ocean is different shades of
blue and green. It starts off as a darkish blue and fades into a lighter green with dark green strokes,

Coal Mining In West Virginia Essay
Before 1890 in West Virginia, you would not be able to see any signs of coal mining. However, after
1890 coal mining surged due to new legislative representatives favoring the use of land in an
industrial sense. Coal mining was now dominating the southern region of West Virginia. In the
beginning, coal mining did not seem to have many effects on the people or land; but, eventually
people became very aware of the negative consequences that came from coal mining. People are now
aware that coal mining in West Virginia was almost entirely detrimental to the environment as well as
the community. Throughout West Virginia, everyone agreed there was a large amount of air pollution
from coal mines. These air pollutants were so bad in the 1990s that the Clean Air Act was enacted.
However, this act had unforeseen consequences of its own. Coal companies began to need much more
readily available coal. So, they mined coal that was closer to the surface by using mountaintop
removal. This resulted in a decrease in jobs for miners because this was a much easier and efficient
way of removing coal. The many jobs that were originally created by coal mining were now being cut.
Now numerous people in West Virginia were left unemployed. ... Show more content on

Enron executives Ken Lay and Jeffrey Skilling were found guilty of fraud and conspiracy. Andrew

three of them have been called sociopaths. For instance, when Skilling took the stand he almost

When Skilling was hired, the staff that he motivated as being innovative and independent, used
accounting loopholes and poor financial reportings to hide billions of dollars in debt from failed deals

Chinese Philosophy Essay
Three areas of philosophy emerged amidst the chaos and constant warring of the Zhou era. The three
were called Confucianism, Daoism, and legalism. They were Chinese philosophies that were thought
to be the best ways to rule and achieve order in the society. Confucianism believed that a ruler s job
was to set a good example, and not order. Since people were thought of as naturally good, they would
following the right path based on their own conscience. Legalism was a more harsh way of ruling, led
by Hanfeizi. They thought people were evil, and needed strict laws and punishment to keep them in
line. Daoism was very different from either of the other two. It was led by Laozi, who taught that the

At first, Confucianism was unsuccessful and Confucius, during his lifetime only managed to collect a
few followers. After his death, however, his followers passed on the Confucian tradition. It survived,
with a few changes, to the Han dynasty (221 BC) and became established as China s official
philosophy. From then it was firmly well established in Chinese culture, and its values can still be seen
today. The Five Classics of Confucianism were works from the Zhou Dynasty, which preceded the
Warring States Period. They were collected and edited by members of the original Confucian school.
After Confucianism became the official state philosophy, one had to know the philosophy well in
order to gain the coveted position of government official.
The Analects are a collection of sayings by Confucius, recorded by his disciples. As a result, the
Analects are not a widespread proposal of Confucianism. Rather, it is a collection of quotations and
stories. Because of this, Confucianism according to Confucius is open to interpretation. The main idea
of the philosophy is, righteousness, relationships and generosity towards others. Since the time of the
Han dynasty (206 CE) four life passages have been recognized and regulated by Confucian tradition.

The Influence Of Departmentalization On Elementary School...
Summary
A review of the research literature showed that confounding definitions related to elementary school
instructional organization, limited research, and contradictory and inconclusive findings contribute to
the difficulty of determining the impact of departmentalization on elementary school students. Also
problematic are stakeholders influences on instructional organization decisions and how these
decisions are viewed in terms of institutional factors such as rules, structures, and social and
professional norms.
Confounding definitions and misrepresentations make choices difficult, and force many school
districts to create their own definitions of terms. The failure to establish static definitions continues to
complicate the debate. Those that support the benefits of the self contained classroom site optimized
individualization, time flexibility, and coordination across content areas. The advocates of
departmentalization focus on the need for the teachers specialized knowledge for increased student
engagement and content mastery. They claim it is unrealistic to expect elementary teachers to have the
specialized knowledge that is required to facilitate instruction.
Research indicates that departmentalized instruction helps students transition to the middle school
format, and that grade level instructional teams promote teacher retention. Teacher retention is
associated with departmentalization was shown to have a positive impact on student achievement. The

Importance of Myrtle in The Great Gatsby Essay
Many of the occurrences in The Great Gatsby produced far reaching effects for several of the
characters. Of these occurrences, one of the most influential and important incidents was the death of
Myrtle Wilson. While her life and death greatly affected the lives of all of the main and supporting
characters, her death had a very significant effect on the lives of Tom, Daisy, and Gatsby.
Tom knew Myrtle better than any of the main characters. He had met her on a train headed for New
York. When the train reached the city, she went with him in a taxi, and their affair began. Tom never
made much of an effort to keep their relationship secret. In fact, he almost paraded her around in the
presence of his acquaintances. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She, of course, could not do this because it was simply too much to ask of her. Tom believed he had
won their disagreement, but the day only grew worse. He may have won Daisy, but he had lost Myrtle
forever. He completely blamed Gatsby, and his feelings of dislike only grew stronger. That night, he
talked with Daisy until early in the morning. In the end, Myrtle s death may have had such an effect
on Tom that he finally turned to his own wife for everything he had searched for outside of the
marriage. He had lost Myrtle, and he had come very close to losing Daisy that same day. These events
may have encouraged him not to take his wife for granted any longer.
While Daisy did not know Myrtle personally, there is a very good possibility that she knew Tom was
having an affair with her. She was well aware of Tom s past behavior, and she made no attempts to
deny it. She simply accepted it because she had no other choice. After spending the day in New York
with the others, she was obviously upset and tense. The day had taxed her to the limit. Gatsby had
demanded too much of her, and she just was not strong enough to endure any further argument. She
chose to drive him back to East Egg in an attempt to calm her nerves. When they passed Wilson s
garage, Myrtle ran into the street toward Gatsby s car, thinking it belonged to Tom. According to
Gatsby, Daisy turned the wheel toward the oncoming car in the other lane, but she lost her nerve and

An Analysis Of The Poem Lay Like The Folds Of A Loud
Question 1: What tone is created in the first six lines of the first stanza? Identify and discuss poetic
devices and stylistic elements (such as the use of punctuation) that help the poet to create this tone.
The tone created in the first stanza is calm and peaceful. This is reinforced by the sound devices used
in the poem. The use of punctuation and the length of each line causes the reader to naturally pause
after every bit of information. This is effectively done by the use of commas and points. It is also
made through the use of enjambment that takes place in line 2. A certain power element is also given
to the sea which forms a contrast between the peaceful and calm element, this effect is increased by
the use of poetic devices such as alliteration. An example in the stanza is: Gleams and is gone... (Line

and discuss their effectiveness in creating the poet s meaning. The simile and metaphor found in
stanza three is found in line 24: Lay like the folds of a bright girdle furled (Line 24) It is effective by
creating imagery to match the meaning of the previous line, by describing faith as something that was
full, round and everywhere, being bound strongly together, possibly by other people s belief, being
represented by the buckle, allowing faith to bring people together, and strengthen a society, forming
part of a whole, a circle, as opposed to loose ends. A further metaphor and simile can be found earlier
in the stanza in line 21: The Sea of faith (Line 24) This, the sea, thus represents religion or the
different religions. It can be taken further by saying that the different oceans or beaches represent the
different religions of the world, but the fact that it is still one entity , means that we as people are still

Ukraine made the news a lot in the past year, but for anything Ukraine discovered or made. In the past
year the country has been in crisis due to the events that started off as a riot for Ukraine becoming a
part of EU and leading to annexation of Crimea and war in east part of the country. Ukraine has been
ruled by corrupt politicians and oligarchs and has been strongly influenced by Russia. These two
countries always had close ties, because of their past as Soviets countries, they share a common
language and are currently in pre war status right now (McMahon, 2014). This past year has been
rough with crisis and has affected areas like: social, cultural and economic. Ukrainian government has
failed its purpose to protect and make improvements in the best interest of the country, and now
thousands of people lost their homes and thousands have died, with hundreds being killed directly at
the request of former President Victor Yanukovych, who now has escaped and currently staying in
Russia with a political support from their side (Babich, 2014). The question now is; with everything
that s happening inside the country, should Russia be allowed to invade and destroy cities and squares,
while the peace agreement and sanctions are attempting to stop this chaos? No, but the aid from
countries like Germany and United States of America is not significant and influential enough to stop

Toulmin Analysis of Attraction Essay
Toulmin Analysis of Attraction
In The Mystery of Attraction, Harville Hendrix claims that attraction between human beings is based
on a number of factors that ultimately leave human beings baffled on exactly how humans experience
such intense emotions as seen in romantic love and why so many couples tend to have complementary
characteristics. He supports this claim by explaining several theories of attraction. His biological
theory of courtship states that we instinctively select mates who will enhance the survival of the
species (483). This theory suggests instinctive evolutionary attraction such as a female s rosy cheeks
on a slender frame and a male s muscular physique ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The backing for his warrants takes the form of a list which depicts ten main characteristics of a
marriage. Most of the characteristics are based around the subconscious mind of humans, placing
much emphasis on the basic needs and desires of a person. The results of a poll are also included at the
end of the essay which reinforces the author s exchange theory.
As a qualifier, Hendrix states that Although these three theories help explain some aspects of romantic
love, we are still left with our original questions (484). He says that despite a plentitude of research,
the answers remain a mystery.
Critique: I found this essay to be enlightening in several ways. Not only was the information presented
in an organized way, but it was also very interesting. I agree with the author s statements about the
trials and tribulations of relationships, and I find myself agreeing most with his biological theory of
attraction. I especially liked the psychological direction of the essay, as it remained fairly objective
and scientific while still presenting new and different ideas as witnessed by his inclusion of historical
facts with the addition of his own unique analysis and commentary

Readers are educated on the double edged sword of being both black and a female. Walker does this
by by expressing how gender oppression complicates racial oppression. Black female characters not
only had to face slavery and racism but also sexism and abuse, mentally, physically and sexually. This
was encountered by both white and black male characters. The black males in the novel are portrayed
as cruel, as they live in a world where white men rule and feel like less of a man and because of this
they take out their anger and frustration on the black females. Walker starts her novel with Celie s
letter describing the brutal rape by her father. Walker writes He just say you gonna do what your

me, saying you better shut up and git used to it. (1) In comparison to the white male characters, Celie s

his attention towards Nettie. Celie is also raped daily by Mr.__. He would try to convince her that
since they are married she is obligated to have sex with him whenever he wants, but when she wouldn

propagation, involves the hydrocarbon molecule reaction with a halogenated molecule, thus producing
a hydrocarbon halogen (R X) compound, and more halogenation molecule thus allowing the reaction
to continue on to completion. A control mechanism will allow for the prediction of what product will
be obtained from a radical reaction. If random chance of the halogen ... Show more content on

This is once again due the reasoning stated earlier, as in terms of hydrogen reactivity: benzene
aromatic ~ aliphatic tertiary secondary primary. This is based on the reasoning in Hammond s
Postulates that the more stable radical will have a smaller rate determining step and the transition state
will resemble the products more so, thus indicating why it can be considered more stable. The actual
order observed was methylcyclohexane ethylbenzene toluene tert butylbenzene ~ cyclohexane. This
was not the predicted order as methylcyclohexane should have reacted third fastest instead of reacting
first as observed, however, excluding the error of methylcyclohexane the rest of the prediction seem to
line up with the observed results. Since methylcyclohexane was the only contributor to the
misalignment with the predicted and observed indicates that some sort of error occurred in the process
of carrying out the reaction. The source of error is most likely due to the possibility that
methylcyclohexane had the bromine added to it a few seconds prior to being set down and timed for a
reaction. The reasoning behind this is because methylcyclohexane should react fast, however, should
still be slower than ethylbenzne and toluene. Another source of error that was likely a major
contributor was the amount of each compound present in the test tube. If too much of the arene was
added to the test tube a the reaction time will likely be noticeably slower as there will b more product
to brominate. Therefore, it is possible that the methylcyclohexane test tube (#13) had too little of
methylcyclohexane in it. The toluene reaction time at 15 seconds also indicates that this test tube
possibly had too much toluene placed in it, thus leading to a slower observed reaction time. Therefore,
it is unlikely that the initial prediction was wrong due to the reactivity of the

Christian Dior and Alexander McQueen
There are many designers in the fashion industry. Few make some kind of an impact on fashion but
most designers rarely have any impact at all. It is truly a once in a generation that designer comes
along and completely alters the fashion universe and becomes a legend. Two examples of fashion
designers that are this rare are Christian Dior and Alexander McQueen. Christian Dior s life span was
before mine but his great impact on the fashion industry carries on today into my lifetime. Alexander
McQueen, however is someone I have lived to see develop and become one of the greatest designers
of all time. Although these two designers differ in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
McQueen was openly gay at age 8 and was often teased in school by other kids. Alexander McQueen,
whose real name is actually Lee Alexander McQueen, knew that he wanted to pursue a career in
fashion design. At age 16 he dropped out of school and went to work at the traditional Savile Row for
Anderson and Sheppard and Gieves and Hawkes. He then went to work for theatre costume makers
Angels and Bermans where he learned the sharp tailoring that has become a distinct signature of his
and the theatrics in his design that make them so iconic. He then traveled to Milan to work for Italian
designer Romero Gigli. In 1992 he returned to London to receive his masters in Fashion Design. This
led to his discovery by aristocratic style guru and former editor of Vogue, Isabella Blow, who would
go on to become a lifetime friend and mentor of McQueen. Blow assisted McQueen in making all the
right connections and helped him find commercial success while staying true to his artistic vision. She
was the one who convinced Lee to adopt his middle name as the name of his label. Like Christian
Dior, McQueen has had a huge impact on the fashion industry and created wild buzz with his designs.
Although Dior had a much more classic and feminine style and McQueen s designs were way more
over the top, theatrical and edgy, these were the designs that made heads turn. McQueen s

German People In The Book Night By Elie Wiesel
The advance of Hitler and his soldiers were daunting. Although, the German citizens had nothing to
fear. They went on with their daily routines and lived life as nothing had happened. They were not
disrupted nearly as much as the unfortunate Jewish population facing mass genocides. The Jews were
wrenched out of their homes, forced into the ghettos, and lost all of their civil rights. They were no
longer treated like citizens or people by the Nazis. As the Jews were decried, the majority of German
citizens did not lend a helping hand. The German townspeople in the novel Night, by Elie Wiesel,
remained satisfied, despite the detention of the Jews because they neglected the appalling actions
against the Jews, were self centered, and power hungry.
When word first spread that the Germans were committing massacres towards the Jews, people
remained calm. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The deportation of the Jews did not have any strong effects on the Germans. Also, they were not in the
same situation as the Jews. They were not fearing death every second, starved, or running twenty
miles in the horrendous snow. Because it was not them, they did not care. They did not have to fret, as
their lives were not on the line. A famous example is Martin Niemöller s poem, First They Came For
The Socialists . Niemöller talks about how the Germans came for the Jews, and I did not speak out
because I was not a Jew. Then they came for me and there was no one left to speak for me (Niemöller
7 11). Niemöller did not stand up for any of the minority groups that Hitler prosecuted because he was
not one of them. This demonstrates how the German minds were working through this period. If it was
not about them, then they would not take any action. Even if countless other lives were doomed. The
German s reasoning for not rescuing the Jews was selfish and inconsiderate and lead to the execution
of more Jewish

A Separate Piece Literary Analysis
When many things break, they often never return back as healthy as it was before. In John Knowles A
Separate Piece, Gene and Finny are two best friends who go through many hardships together as their
years pass at the Devon School. All of the boys in attendance are preparing to be enlisted in the war
that is going on outside of school but they each are fighting their own inside themselves. In A Separate
Piece, Knowles utilizes the allegory of Finny s broken leg to represent the difficult times throughout a
friendship.
As Gene comes back to the Devon School fifteen years later he revisits certain sites that have
important meaning to him. While he is tracing through the years he has spent there many things come
to his attention that he hadn t noticed before. He makes his way to the place of the marble staircase
and says, The marble must be unusually hard. That seemed very likely, only too likely, although with
all my thought about these stairs exceptional hardness had not occurred to me. It was surprising that I
had overlooked that, that crucial fact. (Knowles, 2) This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gene believes that Finny had started the fight because no one else would have been able to convince
that many people to come along. We ended the fight in the only way possible; all of us turned on
Phineas. (Knowles, 92) He was the weak one of the group, so he got left behind from the others and
that is how the fight ended. This means that Gene and the other boys are evolving and coming together
as a group while Finny is not. No, of course I won t break it again. Isn t the bone supposed to be
stronger when it grows together over a place where it s been broken once? (Knowles, 93) Finny says
this to Gene because he believes that things will get better, and he will come back stronger. This also
represents their friendship because it was broken at one point and it will never fully be what it was

  • 2. The Perils And Privileges Of Auto Ethnography Reading Response Week 4: The Perils and Privileges of Auto Ethnography Although not mentioned in this week s Marshall/Rossman chapter, feminism and autoethnography has popped up before in prior readings, so there is some familiarity with both concepts. Now comes what their synthesis looks like in practice. In this light the readings forced me to re examine positionality, especially in the framework of auto ethnography. At first I thought this was too obvious but in light of the titular question Stacey asks Can There Be a Feminist Ethnography? the feminist researcher s proximity to the data and interpretation positionality becomes the fraught answer to consider, Her awkwardness (if that s the right word) in balancing the tightrope as an ethical researcher between product and personal integrity feels unexpected yet palpable. The dilemma she faces forced my recognition that conflicts of interest and emotion between the ethnographer as authentic, related person (i.e. participant), and as exploiting researcher (i.e. observer) (23). I feel as if she as a feminist researcher was startled by the dilemma she faced and wonder if her surprise was compounded by not anticipating it . How much an epiphany is it to learn that participants come with their own agendas? Therefore participants come with their own inherent powers which threaten to usurp the researcher and her own objectives. In the wake of this surprise she asks the provocative introspective question ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Its controversial lyrics and harsh sounds have made it the target of much blame for psychological and behavioral problems in teenagers (Coss). Parents of teenagers now and in past decades have worried about their kids listening to this kind of music. Most parents do not want their kids to listen to this kind of music; they are afraid that the music will lead to devastating effects in society. Another reason why parents do not like heavy metal music is that the music is extremely loud and ear shattering. Most people over ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Also problematic are stakeholders influences on instructional organization decisions and how these decisions are viewed in terms of institutional factors such as rules, structures, and social and professional norms. Confounding definitions and misrepresentations make choices difficult, and force many school districts to create their own definitions of terms. The failure to establish static definitions continues to complicate the debate. Those that support the benefits of the self contained classroom site optimized individualization, time flexibility, and coordination across content areas. The advocates of departmentalization focus on the need for the teachers specialized knowledge for increased student engagement and content mastery. This mechanism essentially function by first initiation step in which the halogenated molecule splits into two halogenated radicals which is followed by the formation of a hydrocarbon radical. The next step of the radical mechanism, propagation, involves the hydrocarbon molecule reaction with a halogenated molecule, thus producing a hydrocarbon halogen (R X) compound, and more halogenation molecule thus allowing the reaction to continue on to completion. This is based on the reasoning in Hammond s Postulates that the more stable radical will have a smaller rate determining step and the transition state will resemble the products more so, thus indicating why it can be considered more stable. The actual order observed was methylcyclohexane ethylbenzene toluene tert butylbenzene ~ cyclohexane. This was not the predicted order as methylcyclohexane should have reacted third fastest instead of reacting first as observed, however, excluding the error of methylcyclohexane the rest of the prediction seem to line up with the observed results. Since methylcyclohexane was the only contributor to the misalignment with the predicted and observed indicates that some sort of error occurred in the process of carrying out the reaction. The source of error is most likely due to the possibility that methylcyclohexane had the bromine added to it a few seconds prior to being set down and timed for a reaction. The reasoning behind this is because methylcyclohexane should react fast, however, should still be slower than ethylbenzne and toluene. Another source of error that was likely a major contributor was the amount of each compound present in the test tube. If too much of the arene was added to the test tube a the reaction time will likely be noticeably slower as there will b more product to brominate. Therefore, it is possible that the methylcyclohexane test tube (#13) had too little of methylcyclohexane in it. The toluene reaction time at 15 seconds also indicates that this test tube possibly had too much toluene placed in it, thus leading to a slower observed reaction time. Therefore, it is unlikely that the initial prediction was wrong due to the reactivity of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He then went to work for theatre costume makers Angels and Bermans where he learned the sharp tailoring that has become a distinct signature of his and the theatrics in his design that make them so iconic. He then traveled to Milan to work for Italian designer Romero Gigli. In 1992 he returned to London to receive his masters in Fashion Design. • 45. German People In The Book Night By Elie Wiesel The advance of Hitler and his soldiers were daunting. Although, the German citizens had nothing to fear. They went on with their daily routines and lived life as nothing had happened. They were not disrupted nearly as much as the unfortunate Jewish population facing mass genocides. The Jews were wrenched out of their homes, forced into the ghettos, and lost all of their civil rights. They were no longer treated like citizens or people by the Nazis. As the Jews were decried, the majority of German citizens did not lend a helping hand. The German townspeople in the novel Night, by Elie Wiesel, remained satisfied, despite the detention of the Jews because they neglected the appalling actions against the Jews, were self centered, and power hungry. When word first spread that the Germans were committing massacres towards the Jews, people remained calm. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The deportation of the Jews did not have any strong effects on the Germans. Also, they were not in the same situation as the Jews. They were not fearing death every second, starved, or running twenty miles in the horrendous snow. Because it was not them, they did not care. They did not have to fret, as their lives were not on the line. A famous example is Martin Niemöller s poem, First They Came For The Socialists . Niemöller talks about how the Germans came for the Jews, and I did not speak out because I was not a Jew. Then they came for me and there was no one left to speak for me (Niemöller 7 11). Niemöller did not stand up for any of the minority groups that Hitler prosecuted because he was not one of them. This demonstrates how the German minds were working through this period. If it was not about them, then they would not take any action. Even if countless other lives were doomed. The German s reasoning for not rescuing the Jews was selfish and inconsiderate and lead to the execution of more Jewish ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
