Similarities Between Catholicism And Secular Humanism
A similarity is that both Catholicism and Secular Humanism believe that there is a moral code
which must be followed to live a peaceful life, however they differ as to the origin, with
Catholicism being that God created the moral compass whereas Secular Humanists believe that
human character and behaviour created moral beliefs. Both believe in the ethical principles and the
dignity and worth of all people and creation. Both also believe in the truth setting individuals free
and that there is a purpose in life. Another similarity is that both believe that something happened in
the universe a long time ago which created humanlife and the earth which we live on.
There are many wider implications when it comes to the belief of God s existence. The 2 views
shapes the way believers see the world and interact with it. One wider implication is social
implications. Catholics gather together every Sunday at mass bringing about a sense of
community whereas Secular Humanists do not gather to share their beliefs as they do not have
any beliefs, this socially impacts them as it means that they have less of a sense of community.
This could also be a geographical impact as Catholics all gather together on special occasions such
as when a new Pope is elected or during a canonisation, this unites Catholics all around the world
together. Another example is that Catholics travel all around the world to see historic land marks to
do with Christianity such as Notre Dame which is a famous

Jack The Ripper In Frankenstein
Isn t it funny how a something so simple as a name can cause widespread terror within a
household? A neighborhood? A state? Or even a country? Jack the ripper is one such name to
have achieved such gruesome a status. He was menacing, he was evil, he was shadow that rained
down upon East end, England in 1888 with malign killings and haunting letters that would last for
years to come. He was a curse to society, causing a stir deep within the heart of London that caused
problems for the police, the women of the night, and psychologists alike. This is jack the ripperin
his truest, uncut form.

However dead is putting it lightly, she was butchered beyond human recognition, her face
mutilated, stabbed, slashed, and torn untill there was just muscle and blood that visible to the
human eye. As you pan down her body the scene did not get better, she was missing almost all of
her internal organs, they had been visciously cut out and thrown across the room in a haphazard,
desperat fashion, she had been butchered. At the time of death she had been a 25 year old

Essay on Just War Doctrine And The Gulf Conflict
Just War Doctrine and the Gulf Conflict
In evaluating US involvement in the Iraq conflict in terms of the Just
War Doctrine jus ad bellum and jus in bello it is my opinion that the US adhered to the Doctrine in
its entirety. The US acted justly both in its entering into the Gulf conflict (jus ad bellum) and in its
conduct while in the conflict (jus in bello). To support this opinion I will individually address the co
parts that constitute the Just War Doctrineand show how US participation in the Iraq war abstained
from violating the tenets of either co part.
Jus Ad Bellum
Jus Ad Bellum, the justness of entering into conflict consists of six primary tenets: legitimate
authority, just cause, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Only after all non conflictory options have been exhausted should war be committed to.
As to the question of whether or not the US adhered to the tenet of jus ad bellum the reply is a
resounding yes. The US, under legitimate authority undertook the just cause of alleviating the
plight of a coalition partner.
Saddam Husseins invasion of Kuwait was unjust, or at least in violation of the
Just War Doctrine, and the US sought to reconcile matters. The goal, the removal of Iraqi forces
from Kuwait, was a just one and was pursued proportionally. For nearly six months the US and
other UN/coalition partners made every diplomatic effort to resolve the conflict peacefully.
Secretary
General of UN Security Council Junio Perez de Cuellar made several attempts to hash out a
peaceful plan with Saddam Hussein directly and during this time the
US abstained from any military action. In conjunction with efforts of Perez de
Cuellar, US Secretary of State James Baker spent countless hours negotiating directly with the
Iraqi Foreign Minister in an attempt to bring about a non violent end to the crisis. When all efforts
failed to bring an end to the conflict by peaceful means the UN Security Council drafted Resolution
678 which authorized quot;all means necessary quot; to dislodge Iraqi forces from Kuwait. In one
last effort US President George Bush sent a direct communiquГ© to Saddam Hussein

The Effects Of Diversity On Hollywood And One Of The Most...
There has been many controversies about the lack of diversity in Hollywood and one of the
most recent one was the 2016 Oscars. The Oscars is an award show that showcase the best
people in front and behind the camera. Unfortunately there was barely any diversity in the
nominations this year since most nominators were white, even though there was many diverse
films that were considered Oscar worthy. With that being said, people protested that there needs
to be more diversity in these categories and some actors agreeing by using the hashtag
#OscarsSoWhite in social media. To make things worse, the Academy Awards members are
majority older white males which brought to the attention from the protesters that in order to
have diversity into the awards, the members itself needs to represent of all races so, it can be
considered a fair choice. Which make sense to why throughout history of the Oscars there was
always a discrepancy of diversity in the nominations since 1929 because only a very small
percentage of minorities actors have received an award compared to the white actors that
dominated the Oscars with a high percentage of winners. This created tension in Hollywood that
the Oscars are marginalizing itself as a all white program and that there needs to be changes. When
the nominations were being announced for the 2016 Oscars, many were surprised of the lack of
diversity and the films that were snubbed. One in particular would be Beast of No Nation, which

Clearly, the culture of Rome is still seen in the world today through language and art. Countries
throughout the world are still speaking Latin influenced languages. Also, some English words have
Latin roots, proving the Latin language is still present in the world today. In addition, Roman art
greatly influenced the Renaissance, which is a very important time for art. Without Roman
influence during the Renaissance, museums today would not be filled with the art it is today. Also,
languages spoken across Europe would be completely different. Rome s cultural influence is also
present in modern day sports arenas. The Colosseum is an extremely important and famous building
that was built in Ancient Rome. Many buildings, specifically sports stadiums, have been influenced
by the Colosseum. According to Dunn, Other modern colosseums include the concrete Kingdome

Diction And Views In Herman Melville s Benito Cereno
It is a clichГ© known by many: Always trust your gut. In other words, listen to your intuition as
first impressions matter. This saying reigns true in many works of literature, including Herman
Melville s 1855 novel, Benito Cereno. Throughout the first part of the story, the main character,
Captain Delano, struggles with whether or not to trust a newly encountered ship, the San
Dominick, its inhabitants, or its captain, Benito Cereno. While the novel is third person omniscient,
it is clear that Delano has his doubts about the foreign ship from the beginning due to the original
descriptionof the San Dominick. Melville writes in the third person omniscient point of view in
order to allow the audience to come to their own conclusions about the ship, but also heavily
utilizes diction and sentence structure to give readers clues about what to expect from the
characters and plot. To give the passage context, Delano is finally seeing the San Dominick
clearly for the first time, not yet having met the passengers of the ship. Delano is alone and it can
be assumed that the description is his point of view, due to the fact that the anonymous narrator
appears to be pulling these images and renditions from Delano s mind. Because of this, the reader
is encouraged to think ahead about the ship s culture, its passengers, and the types of things
Delano will encounter if he decides to approach and explore it. Throughout the passage, the author
makes use of an overload of adjectives, all

People read books. People read books all the time. Some people don t like books, others love to
travel through the adventure of them. Books are a part of life and no matter what route you take
you will encounter books. Books open people up to a new world of goblins, ghosts, and
civilizations fighting each other over a bag of bread. Books give emotions and have people go
through states of suspense, thriller, action, and so much more. In this book, Jurassic Park, I did
experience a lot of those emotions and realized the adventure the book took me through. I mainly
chose the book for the reasons of action, and suspense because those really touched my heart in
such a way, in such a passion. So let s get on with it!

The Impact Of Eu Liberalisation Policy On The Uk Energy...
This essay will detail the impact of EU liberalisation policy on the UK energy industry and relate
this to a previous sample of a group of suppliers. This essay will discuss industry supplier
concentration, oligopoly and monopolistic competition, the EU competition commission and
potential single markets which are not yet subject to scrutiny by the competition commission.
Industry supplier concentration measures how many suppliers there are in a certain industry. The
amount of firms in an industry will affect whether the firms are involved in an oligopoly, a
monopolistic market or a perfectly competitive market. Concentration ratios can be used to measure
how concentrated a certain industry is. The most common concentration ratio used is the four firm
concentration ratio which measures the output of the 4 largest firms in the market and gives that as
a ratio of the overall industry sales. Another method of measuring concentration within an industry
is by using the Herfindahl Hirschman Index (HHI).This measurement is calculated by determining
the market share of each firm, squaring each number then adding them together. If the number that
is calculated is below 1000 it is considered to be of a low concentration and if it is above 1800 it is
considered highly concentrated, however it can be between 0 (perfect competition) and 10,000
(pure monopoly). (MICROECONOMICS 2007)
In the sample, the suppliers will be measured by a HHI as to show market concentration. It would

Exploring The Exotification Of East Asian Women
In this essay, I will be exploring the exotification of East Asian women in modern day society. My
area of investigation in this writing is how these tropes pose danger towards East Asian women,
instead of the misconception that they feel flattered and sees it as a compliment .
Orientalism is, according to Oxford English Dictionary, a term defined as styles, artefacts or traits
considered as the characteristics of the people and cultures in Asia . It is also defined as the
representation of Asia in a stereotyped way that is regarded as embodying a colonialist attitude1.
According to Edward Said, Orientalism exists in when the creation of representation of exotic lands
does not imbue aspects of the society to be portrayed2. Orientalism became prominent since the
18th century, when Western colonialists began their domination in Asia. It is during the rise of
colonialism in the 18th century when many Westerners fetishized the East. The generalization of
the culture separates them as the East and the West, making East the Other 3. Otherness, resulted
from Orientalism, have painted East Asian women as so foreign that from mid 1800 brothels until
this day, racist humour about how the vaginas of East Asian women would defy all odds and look
different in comparison. People often not realize the harm done to East Asian Women when calling
them exotic and oriental , instead thought these are compliments and they should feel flattered. In

lakes. 360,000 litres of water each day is taken from the Innisfil Watershed in Lake simcoe and it
is unacceptable. (Lake Simcoe Message Board, 2016) The City of Innisfil Town management
/planners are making plans to bring it down to 260,000 liters a day due to high petition rate in
the town, still the number is to high. Water levels are getting to low for animal safety, the space
for natural habitats and living creatures is decreasing with our water levels. Something needs to

The Relations Sex and Death in Poe’s “For Annie” and...
Both Edgar Allen Poe s poem For Annie and Robert Browning s poem Porphyrias Lover create
complex relations between sex and death. In For Annie the masochistic storyteller sees sexual
excitement as a suffering to be endured and embraces the state that follows as an estimate to
death. He is masochists, who takes pleasure in envisioning himself dead and resolves his own
sexual worries by visualizing a situation in which he is motionless and immobile, while his lover
takes on a maternal role. In Robert Browning s Porphyrias Lover, on the other hand, the speaker is

At this point in the poem, the speaker is clearly the weaker of the two. Even the poems heading

sadistic violence toward his lover, an action that he reveals as something that he thinks of at the
spur of the moment rather than a pre calculated act: I found /A thing to do. (37 38) Porphyria s
light colored hair that earlier on she had used to console the speaker becomes the reason of her
death, as all her hair/In one long yellow string I wound...And strangled her. (38 41) when she is

her, and all in vain. (28 29) However, the speaker hastily takes on the leading role once she is

The original bond price is $5,100,000 and par value of the bond is $5,425,530, then the bond is
selling at a discount. If the new bond price were selling at $5,600,000 then the bond would be
selling at a premium. The important part is the to determine whether the bond is under valued or
over valued
For instance if the bond was selling at $5,100,000 and the par value was $5,425,530 and the stated
yield was 8.11%, then the bond is over valued because the bond price with yield of 8.11% should
be $4,800,000. If the bond price was $5,100,000 and the par value was $5,425,530 and the stated
yield was 5.74%, then the bond is under valued because the bond price with a yield of 5.74%
should be $5,550,000

The Differing Perspectives of Greek Philosophers Essay
Unlike Parmenides and Heraclitus, who took a clear stance on whether being is changing or
unchanging, Empedocles argued that things do change, but these objects are composed of
materials that do not change. The change that we see is merely a cause of the interaction and
changes in position of the four basic elements (earth, air, fire, and water). Much like Heraclitus
and his views that orderly change is brought about by the logos , Empedocles also recognized that
there was a force responsible for the change brought about. In his case, changes in the forms and
positions of the basic elements was an effect of two forces love and strife (or more commonly
known as the forces of attraction and repulsion/decomposition). The philosophyof... Show more

Not until recently did we find that atoms, which were assumed to be matter s basic particles, where
themselves made up of even smaller particles. So in that sense, Anaximander is correct in his
philosophy of there being a pure substance , which is the root of everything that we see.
Heraclitus and Parmenides both recognized that the materials which make up the universe could be
broken down to one basic substance, but they came to disagreement over what that basic
substance was exactly, as well as the state of being. Heraclitus believed that everything was fire (or
made of fire), and that it was the fundamental source of change in the universe because a main
property of the universe was that it was in a constant state of changing. Parmenides argued that the
entire idea of change was impossible and that the universe was essentially unmoving and
unchanging. Parmenides was a Monist, so he held the idea that the world is unitary, and that all the
individuals in it are part of an even greater unified whole. One of his arguments that motion and
states of being are impossible.
Protagoras was a sophist, who believed that knowledge was relative. There are four main types of

things . We can interpret this as there is no absolute truth and

What Is The Theme Of Mental Cases By Wilfred Owen
Wilfred Owen s Mental Cases offers a rather distinct characterization of World War I soldiers after
their participation in the battle. While they are usually portrayed as the brave, handsome and
trained heroes of a nation, in this poem the reader confronts the reality of the soldiers atrocious
mental state as they returned home filled with terror and nightmares of the battlefield. The poet s
main objective of presenting the characterization that will be further explained is to shockthe reader
with the graphic and brutal scenes the soldiers had to experience during combat and expose the
physical and mental consequences of war, highlighting the destruction and terror it brought to
humanity. As to the why of this purpose, Owen, having experience... Show more content on

However, the phrase back into their brain refers once again to the memories coming back and
tormenting the abandoned men, as well as the affirmation that dawn bleeds afresh, showing that
the soldiers are not able to heal and no matter how much time passes, they still remember the
scenes of war freshly. In addition to this, the onomatopoeias used in the last four verses: plucking,
picking, snatching and pawing, construct an image of the men crawling helplessly and grasping
desperately with their animalistic claws at a society that has turned their backs to them. This
connects back to Owen s purpose of getting society s attention and comprehension of the mentally
injured men so they can help them. In this same stanza, a visual imagery that goes back to the idea
of the living death of the first stanza is introduced with the words set smiling corpses. Corpses
refers directly to the skeletal and abdominal figures described in the beginning, but with the addition
of the adjective set smiling , not only is an oxymoron built, but it also shows the taunting and
dismal stare of men that suffer from shell shock, reinforcing again the consequences of

Jazz Influence On African American Culture
Jazz music was born from the creative hands of black people who experienced oppression and
slavery in America in the late 18th century. Expression of a resistance against the racist and
oppressive political system was manifested in the way of black Americans to play their music.
History has recorded that slavery and racial discrimination in America gave birth precisely to the
music of resistance, such as the Spiritual, gospel and blues. This phenomenon could be interpreted
as a cultural resistance of black people to Westernization, in terms of religion, culture, politics, and
how to make music. It was because before they were brought to America, they have a distinctive
culture of Africa.

Pathogenesis of Coronary Heart Disease
Introduction Coronary heart disease is caused by the narrowing of the coronary arteries which
is because of the deposition of fats and cholesterol on the inside lining of the arteries. These
deposits which also cause hardening of the walls of the arteries also block the flow of oxygen to
the heart. This deprives the heart of the needed oxygen that is required for its proper
functioning. Pathogenesis of Coronary heart disease Studies have been conducted on the
pathogenesis of the Coronary heart disease and most of these studies have highlighted
metabolism mechanism of fats. The studies have revealed that as there is a need to feed special
diets to the patients with Coronary heart disease; these diets are to be designed in a way that the
level of total blood lipid can be maintained within the healthier limits (Vlodaver, 2012, p. 45). It
has been observed that if the daily intake of fat in the Coronary heart disease patients is limited
to 50gm, than the maintenance of total bloody lipid levels can be assured. Signs and Symptoms
One of the most common symptoms in these cases includes chest pain which is also referred to as
angina. It is due to the lack of oxygen in the heart. The pain in the chest can vary from one person
to the other. The pain is generally observed under the breast bone. It is seen that the pain is mainly
triggered with increased motion and activity. In the case of women, the symptoms can be fatigue,
weakness and shortness of breath. Angina is the sign

B.F. Skinner (1904 1990) was an American psychologist who was a leading proponent of
behaviorism, which had significant influences on philosophy. He was an advocate of his own
school of thought called radical behaviorism, and conducted experimental analysis of behavior.
In About Behaviorism, B.F. Skinner expands on methodological behaviorisms central tenet and its
weaknesses. Skinner illustrated that in methodological behaviorism, the only admissible and
relevant evidence in scientific psychology is behavioral data. To methodological behaviorists,
introspection is not a form of evidence, since it is a private and personal way of knowing. There
can be no public agreement on introspection, and thus it cannot be accepted as a scientific ... Show

The first premise of radical behaviorism is that psychology should concern itself with the
observable behavior of organism, not the unobservable mental events. The second premise is that
the study of behavior should be a natural science, much like biology, chemistry and physics,
relying on hypotheses, controlled variables and evidence. Thus he concludes that radical
behaviorism repairs the damages done by mentalism to scientific psychology because a scientific
psychological theory will consist of laws directly relating controlled stimuli to behaviors. Radical
behaviorism does not acknowledge mental events at all, in which behavior is restricted to an input
output relationship, thus allowing psychology to be a form of evidence driven science.
Through the framework of radical behaviorism, Skinner discusses perception and imagination,
which he calls seeing in the absence of the thing seen. Skinner claims that the act of imagining does
not constitute a mental event, and thus does not threaten the premise of behaviorism. Skinner
insists that imagery is not a thing, but rather the act of imagining and visualizing is a behavior.
And the act of imagining is a response, which may be conditioned to occur in the absence of its
normal stimuli. Though it may seem private, he gives examples of he public aspects of imagining.
He gives the example of leading

Title
Everyone loves a good story! : Using graphic organisers to scaffold a narrative.
Abstract
Research Question
How does the implementation of graphic organisers impact student learning with regard to a text

Rationale
Literature Review
Introduction
Graphic organisers used in writing a narrative are a visual cue for ordering information. To full
understand the purpose of graphic organisers in classrooms it is useful to break the term down
and look at the defintions of both graphic and organiser . The term graphic can be described as an
adjective and means clear (2014). While the term organiser can be defined as a person or a thing
used for organising. (2014, Cambridge Dictionary Online)

Teaching Practices
Educators use the term graphic organisers which refers to a range of devices such as concept maps,
mind webs, semantic maps, knowledge maps and tables. (O Donnell, 2012, p. 335) Effective
writing programs use both modelled, guided and independent teaching strategies to help students
comprehend and become successful in their creative writing (NSW Department of Education and
Training Curriculum Support Directorate).
Graphic organisers can be implemented into this cycle which can be best described as I do , We
do and You do (Christian, 2014). For the first stage of I do a graphic organiser can be selected by
the teacher and displayed to the class, modelling ways of note taking and using the sections of the
organiser to list ideas for further development in the writing task. Modelled writing means both
modelling to students how to write and selecting models such as a graphic organiser to demonstrate
how writing works (NSW Department of Education and Training Curriculum Support Directorate).
The teaching strategy of we do would involve the class making decisions with the guidance of the
teacher about what graphic organiser to use and what points they think should be included in the
organiser before jointly constructing a narrative. Finally, students can independently select and
complete their own individual graphic organisers, known as I do , before then going on to write
their own stories. Students

Humans have always found one on one fighting to be an intriguing activity to watch. Whether it is

However, it is a very complex sport that requires intense training and conditioning. There are no

What Are Cell Surface Carbohydrates
Cell surface carbohydrates are carbohydrate chains that are bonded to lipids and proteins that are
within the phospholipid bilayer of a cell. These are known as glycolipids and glycoproteins; they
have carbohydrate chains protruding from them out of the cell membrane surface. They are the first
molecules to be encountered and recognized by other cells, so they are used to identify the cell.
Carbohydrates are used as the ligand component of glycoconjugates (glycoproteins and glycolipids)
and their structure varies depending on the structure of the molecule it binds to, ranging from small
saccharide units to very large polysaccharide chains. Although the carbohydrate chains are generally
oligosaccharides and can either be straight or branched. Cell surface carbohydrates coat the exterior
surfaces of cell membranes and extend from the phospholipid bilayer into the aqueous environment
outside the cell presenting information rich binding sites and have the potential to carry necessary
information to act as markers for cellular recognition. The anomeric carbon of the carbohydrate
binds to the hydroxyl group present on the lipid or proteinthrough a covalent bond referred to as a
glycosidic bond. The carbohydrate is hydrophilic and contains polar groups that enable the

of the 19th century, is considered as one of the most brilliant men of his time, thanks to his great
use of intellectual analysis and satire among other resources as a medium for social criticism.
His evolution as a writer may be divided into three different phases determined by several
changes in his way of thinking or writing: he takes his first steps as a novelist through mysticism,
then he falls under the influence of D. H. Lawrence in what is called the Lawrencian interlude
and finally, he comes back to mysticism, retracing the path he once followed. His early novels,
such as Crome Yellow (1921), Antic Hay (1923) and Those Barren Leaves (1925), show the ironic,
sceptic and real nature of Huxley in his first phase. After having lost all faith in humanity after the
Great War in 1914, he found the solution for his despair in philosophical mysticism : we must be
free from the body, the intellect and the personality. This doctrine is particularly present in the latter
novel mentioned, in which the character Calamy takes the decision of living a hermit s life of
meditation in the Italian mountains.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Morrel, English aristocrat and society hostess who befriended writers, artists and people of
intellectual circles such as Virginia Woolf and T.S. Eliot. She was the inspiration for the character
of Mrs Bidlake in Huxley s Point Counter Point and some critics even consider her the inspiration
for Lawrence s Lady Chatterley because of her notable love

Scary Mommy Moment Research Paper
Scary Mommy Moment It was a hot August morning and we woke up at seven o clock in the
morning. I had a headache and felt something really hot next to me; Kade had a fever. I gave him
some breakfast and put him into a cool bath to help try to bring his fever down. After the bath, I
gave him some Tylenol and put him back in bed, where he slept for two hours. Once he woke up
from his nap, I set him on the couch to watch some TV while I grabbed him another dose of
Tylenol. I went into the kitchen to get him the Tylenol, while in there I asked Kade if he wanted
some milk, I got no response, and I asked again still nothing. I had begun to become a little
concerned. I went over to check on him and to see if he had fallen back asleep. When I got over
to him, his eyes were open, I said his name again, he did nothing, just stared in a completely
blank stare (he looked like he was dead). I picked him up, he was completely unresponsive, I
checked for a pulse and breathing. Thankfully he had both. As I was holding him I began giving
him a slight shake to try to get his attention. I was terrified and started yelling for my five year old...

I sat next to him terrified he would have another seizure. The doctors decided to give him
Motrin. After an hour the nurse wanted to check if the fever went down. When she checked it
had gone up to 103 degrees. They decided to give him Tylenol and checked again an hour later;
it finally started to go down. The doctors said that what he had was called a febrile seizure and
was fairly common in young children. It happens when their fever spikes too quickly and their
small body can t handle it. He assured us he was going to recover fine. They released us around
eight o clock that night; we went home and got some much needed rest. Although he was sick for
a few more days, we felt very lucky he was ok. I am thankful every day that Kade made a full

Design
Looking at the hardware components, the notable part is redesign of the box from the standard
box that is well known to the newly introduced curvy look, which initially takes some to get used
to. Also is the disappearance of the hardware buttons in favour of integrated lights which introduces
a sense of modern device to the user.
Like the bolt+, the bolt has a somewhat boomerang shaped body, 1.8 by 11.4 by 7.3 inches and
weigh less than 2 pounds. It is certainly attractive, but unlike previous models, nothing accumulates
over its Loma contours. It is glossy black to white of the original bolt, with a remote control to
match. The front has a silver TiVo logo at the top of the curve, with a green LED power to the
right. Status red and amber, the lights are usually hidden, but are manifested when it comes to
recording, remote control, or updating activity. The back has an HDMI port, a coaxial cable
connector, an Ethernet port, two USB ports, an eSATA connector to add storage, 3, 5mm and
optical audio outputs, the power connector and a remote button that makes the distance a brief
melody. There is a small hatch under the unit that covers the required slot Cable

The Mythological Story and The Book of Job
Myths have always played a part in society. Mythological stories not only entertain the reader, but
the mythological story also plays a major role in cultural beliefs. David Bidney writes, The
function of a myth is thus held to be one of validating or justifying cultural beliefs and practices
(19). The mythical tale reiterates the moral practices and beliefs that a culture needs to succeed.
There are four purposes for writing a myth: First myths help in expressing humanity s fear and
wonder of nature, myths helps to explain the creation of the universe, myths gives the readers moral
guidelines that should be followed, and finally, myths gives instructions on how to contend with
crises. Because The Book of Jobfrom the Old Testament... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Eliphaz s logic tells him that Job is not a righteous and upright man. Despite hearing the argument,
Job still declares that he is not guilty of sinning against the Lord. Habel explains that God pursues
him like a lion so that he can demonstrate his prowess as a hunter. Job is perfectly willing to have
the birds, beast, fish, and earth testify to the truth of God s ways (58). Job is telling his friend that
God does not seek retribution on the earth (natural disasters are not God s way of punishing), but
that if God did, it would be the just and right thing for the Lord to do.
When examining Job, the reader finds that morality plays an intriguing part of the overall
message. Job is a person who lives by example, and he stands for the ideal believer. Job is a man
of integrity and honor. Norman Habel writes, The blamelessness and integrity of Job is a
governing theme introduced in the prologue and developed throughout the subsequent dialogue
speeches of the book (82). The reader finds that Job s integrity is being tested throughout his
story, and the examples of how he lives should be copied by the readers. In this case, the readers
should follow Job s devout faith and unfailing belief in the Lord. The Book of Job provides the
moral guidance needed to make this a mythological story. The reader is guided through stages of
Job s psychological life, but because of the

Cannibalism In The Road
The Road is not actually about the world ending either with a bang or a whimper. The novel is
about the journey of an unnamed father and his son in the aftermath of a mysterious unnamed
global catastrophe. It can be read as a cautionary tale about human wickedness and depravity.
Their pilgrimage takes them through a lifeless world, where food can no longer be grown.
Physical and environmental destruction is unleashed by the apocalyptic catastrophe. It is the moral
disintegration of a human species that is now totally focused on biological survival. As the father
and the son continued their journey, the survivors they encounter often appear as the
personification of evil. Cannibalism is rife and people are turned into slaves. Although the father
is worn down by the devastation that surrounds him, his fear is for his son. He is afraid that he
will not be able to protect his son. So... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Questions on Terrorist Activities
Why is there heavier activity in certain areas of the world? Chemical, nuclear, and biological
warfare are now becoming more profound as technology develops. As technology becomes more
ubiquitous across nations, the likelihood of attack becomes more eminent. This is particularly
true of Iran who has been explicit in their desire to destroy the civilized world. As this nation
becomes better equipped to attack the United States, the need for intervention becomes more
profound. Terrorism, as indicated by there attack targets, is predicated on fear. The concept of
fear is what drives the profound of often impactful nature of terrorism. In certain areas of the
world, particularly those with high regard for freedom make ideal terrorist targets. The terrorists,
through their actions intend to create a pervasive culture of fear within their target areas. Concepts
of freedom, democracy, and prosperity are often polar opposites of terrorists. They instead, often
intend to enslave, restrict freedom, or impose their own beliefs on others through fear. Areas of the
world that are against these concepts are often targets for terrorist activity. America, Europe, and
Middle Eastern countries seeking freedom or challenging the status quo are therefore likely targets.
Figure 1 in the appendix presents are very short list of prominent terrorist attacks in recent history.
A quick glance at the list reveals that a vast majority of the target areas are in the countries I
mentioned above:

Steve Jobs s 2005 Stanford Commencement Speech, Apple And...
Living Life with a Purpose In his 2005 Stanford Commencement Speech, founder and CEO of
Apple and Pixar, Steve Jobs develops ethos, pathos, and logos in order to motivate and inspire
the graduating class, ultimately persuading the students to Stay foolish, stay hungry . Jobs
shows that he is a reliable example by describing this achievement throughout his life. He
expands on his ethical appeal to the crowd by explaining his failures, We d just released our
finest creation... and I had just turned 30. And then I got fired (Jobs 3). Jobs is known as a
highly successful businessman. Jobs, however; expands on his failure and is open about it. It is
thought that once something goes wrong there is no way to get back from it. But Jobs recalls
being fired from Apple as the best thing that could have ever happened to me (Jobs 2). Jobs uses
his failure to further expand on the importance of staying creative and remaining ambitious. Jobs
had to move on from his job and when he did, I started a company named NeXT... In a
remarkable turn of events, Apple bought NeXT, and I returned to Apple, and the technology we
developed at NeXT is at the heart of Apple s current renaissance (Jobs 3). Jobs is telling the
Stanford graduating class that life may not go the way that was planned, but if they pursue what
they believe is the right path, and they do not give up then they will be able to thrive. Jobs is
telling the students need to look at failure as an opportunity to further develop

Food And Drug Law Journal Analysis
According to the Journal of Marketing and Communication, writing is one of the most crucial
elements to success in the business world. In both journal articles, Food and Drug Law Journal and

emphasis that the main reason for any type of print in businessis to acquire customers. The main
topics discussed in these journals were labels, marketingand communication. The main purpose of
these two journals are closely related. The Food and Drug Law Journal emphasizes points on

In the Journal of Marketing and Communication, is a journal that is reader friendly. This journal
was for educational purposes, all of the context is straightforward and easy to read. On the other
hand, the Food and Drug Law Journal is written more for the professional world. Attorneys,
judges, and sometimes graduate students are the main audience for the Food and Drug Law
Journal. This type of reading is very professional, and informational. The type of writing
displayed in these two journals correlate with the audience for each journal. The Journal of
Marketing is an easier read in comparison to the Food and Drug Law Journal. The types of
writing displayed in the Journal of Marketing are informational, discussion and conversational.
In turns, the Food and Drug Law Journal is written in a formal and professional tone. All of the
information displayed in this text is informational and very dry to read. The way writing is used
in the business field is extremely interesting. The type of writing for every scenario is broken
down into bits and pieces. Each piece is different depending on the case. Writing in business is
almost as important as the product itself. The way that the product is displayed and is the major
factor in how well the product will sell. Beneficial information is blown up, and negative
information is hidden. Writing in the business field is deceitful to say the

The Swarm of Paparazzi
Paparazzi Paparazzi are people that celebrities are always swarmed by and they can become too
aggressive to get that one perfect picture, but why? Paparazzi are photographers that go far
beyond what may be appropriate to others to get these photos, whether it is crashing a formal
party, following celebrities in a car, or even breaking into the home of the celebrities. Paparazzi
can get a large amount of money for these photos that they sell to tabloids that want these
sometimes embarrassing and cruel photos. Paparazzi can become too close for comfort and they
should have laws and restrictions on how far they can go to get the latest pictures and news
because the celebrities have no privacy and due to the past events within society. The intention of
the paparazzi is to take the best photo that will sell for the greatest amount of money. However
these ordinary peoplestill have to abide by the laws that the rest of the world lives by, but
unfortunately they never seem to follow these crucial and necessary restrictions. The people
within society never thought that paparazzi could get this bad to the point in which celebrities
were pressing charge, getting into full scale brawls, and breaking laws. The paparazzi of the past
never thought that the present day paparazzi would be so vicious. The paparazzi care about sales
above and beyond all other considerations (Howe 17). This is far beyond a true statement, it s a fact.

Trauma In The Novel The Suspect By L. R.
How Trauma Can Affect Lives
Many individuals have flashbacks after experiencing trauma. Survivors of such horrible traumas
sometimes can act out in violence, after something triggers them to remember the ordeal. The novel
The Suspect by L.R. Wright, offers a realistic account of what goes on in the mind of an individual
who has committed murder. Throughout the novel, I made connections to many real life examples
of how trauma has affected the lives of criminals and their victims, through either alcohol or
mental illness. Individuals affected by this sort of trauma can seek medical or social help in order
to be able to learn how to cope with daily living.
L.R. Wright starts the novel The Suspect, by talking about how the main character George
Wilcox killed his ex brother in law Carlyle Burke in the isolated little community of Sechelt,
British Columbia. Wright described the scene of how George killed Carlyle. As George was
trying to leave, Carlyle did not like the idea that George was leaving, and was telling him he
needed to respect him. When Carlyle started to talk about George s family by saying ... Show more

What Role Did The Cottage Industry Play In The Industrial...
The industrial revolution began in Great Britain, in the beginning over 75% of England s
population were living in countryside towns whilst working on family owned farms, this was
otherwise known as the cottage industry. When the transition in 17th century began people slowly
migrated to the cities, working in factories and the environments drastically changed.
I enjoy participating in these role plays, as it clarifies and furthers my understanding. I was a factory
worker, and I developed an emotional understanding of the working conditions in which peasants
both worked and lived under. Only a few minutes into the activity I supposedly caught my arm in
the machine, where it got much mangled and before anyone who could/would assist I bled ... Show

Factory owners used the urbanisation and falling of the cottage industry to exploit their workers.
Owners carried the exploitation out by primarily employing women and children and paying them
minimal wages, by ensuring that workers spent six to seven days a week, working a minimum of
12 hour shifts. Many workers became deaf because of the loud machines and the non existent
health and safety guidelines. Factories were always poorly ventilated and became hot and humid
very quickly, especially for those who worked in factories powered by steam, this often resulted in
fainting, dehydration and occasional deaths. When unions were developed in the early 1800 s,
condition gradually improved. Once employees had the government support furthered the
improvement, with the following acts being put in place;
The Factory Act 1819 (UK) limited working hours for children to a maximum of 12 hours a day.
The Factory Act 1833 (UK) banned children under the age of nine from working in the textiles
industry. Children aged 10 to 13 years were limited to a 48 hour working

  • 2. Similarities Between Catholicism And Secular Humanism A similarity is that both Catholicism and Secular Humanism believe that there is a moral code which must be followed to live a peaceful life, however they differ as to the origin, with Catholicism being that God created the moral compass whereas Secular Humanists believe that human character and behaviour created moral beliefs. Both believe in the ethical principles and the dignity and worth of all people and creation. Both also believe in the truth setting individuals free and that there is a purpose in life. Another similarity is that both believe that something happened in the universe a long time ago which created humanlife and the earth which we live on. There are many wider implications when it comes to the belief of God s existence. The 2 views shapes the way believers see the world and interact with it. One wider implication is social implications. Catholics gather together every Sunday at mass bringing about a sense of community whereas Secular Humanists do not gather to share their beliefs as they do not have any beliefs, this socially impacts them as it means that they have less of a sense of community. This could also be a geographical impact as Catholics all gather together on special occasions such as when a new Pope is elected or during a canonisation, this unites Catholics all around the world together. Another example is that Catholics travel all around the world to see historic land marks to do with Christianity such as Notre Dame which is a famous ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The poor woman was found on Friday morning around 11 am, the murder itself most likely having taken place the previous night. Upon entering her apartment the worst became obvious, she was dead. However dead is putting it lightly, she was butchered beyond human recognition, her face mutilated, stabbed, slashed, and torn untill there was just muscle and blood that visible to the human eye. As you pan down her body the scene did not get better, she was missing almost all of her internal organs, they had been visciously cut out and thrown across the room in a haphazard, desperat fashion, she had been butchered. • 4. Essay on Just War Doctrine And The Gulf Conflict Just War Doctrine and the Gulf Conflict In evaluating US involvement in the Iraq conflict in terms of the Just War Doctrine jus ad bellum and jus in bello it is my opinion that the US adhered to the Doctrine in its entirety. The US acted justly both in its entering into the Gulf conflict (jus ad bellum) and in its conduct while in the conflict (jus in bello). To support this opinion I will individually address the co parts that constitute the Just War Doctrineand show how US participation in the Iraq war abstained from violating the tenets of either co part. Jus Ad Bellum Jus Ad Bellum, the justness of entering into conflict consists of six primary tenets: legitimate authority, just cause, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Only after all non conflictory options have been exhausted should war be committed to. As to the question of whether or not the US adhered to the tenet of jus ad bellum the reply is a resounding yes. The US, under legitimate authority undertook the just cause of alleviating the plight of a coalition partner. Saddam Husseins invasion of Kuwait was unjust, or at least in violation of the Just War Doctrine, and the US sought to reconcile matters. The goal, the removal of Iraqi forces from Kuwait, was a just one and was pursued proportionally. For nearly six months the US and other UN/coalition partners made every diplomatic effort to resolve the conflict peacefully. Secretary General of UN Security Council Junio Perez de Cuellar made several attempts to hash out a peaceful plan with Saddam Hussein directly and during this time the US abstained from any military action. In conjunction with efforts of Perez de Cuellar, US Secretary of State James Baker spent countless hours negotiating directly with the Iraqi Foreign Minister in an attempt to bring about a non violent end to the crisis. When all efforts failed to bring an end to the conflict by peaceful means the UN Security Council drafted Resolution 678 which authorized quot;all means necessary quot; to dislodge Iraqi forces from Kuwait. • 6. The Effects Of Diversity On Hollywood And One Of The Most... There has been many controversies about the lack of diversity in Hollywood and one of the most recent one was the 2016 Oscars. The Oscars is an award show that showcase the best people in front and behind the camera. Unfortunately there was barely any diversity in the nominations this year since most nominators were white, even though there was many diverse films that were considered Oscar worthy. With that being said, people protested that there needs to be more diversity in these categories and some actors agreeing by using the hashtag #OscarsSoWhite in social media. To make things worse, the Academy Awards members are majority older white males which brought to the attention from the protesters that in order to have diversity into the awards, the members itself needs to represent of all races so, it can be considered a fair choice. Which make sense to why throughout history of the Oscars there was always a discrepancy of diversity in the nominations since 1929 because only a very small percentage of minorities actors have received an award compared to the white actors that dominated the Oscars with a high percentage of winners. This created tension in Hollywood that the Oscars are marginalizing itself as a all white program and that there needs to be changes. When the nominations were being announced for the 2016 Oscars, many were surprised of the lack of diversity and the films that were snubbed. One in particular would be Beast of No Nation, which received ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Diction And Views In Herman Melville s Benito Cereno It is a clichГ© known by many: Always trust your gut. In other words, listen to your intuition as first impressions matter. This saying reigns true in many works of literature, including Herman Melville s 1855 novel, Benito Cereno. Throughout the first part of the story, the main character, Captain Delano, struggles with whether or not to trust a newly encountered ship, the San Dominick, its inhabitants, or its captain, Benito Cereno. While the novel is third person omniscient, it is clear that Delano has his doubts about the foreign ship from the beginning due to the original descriptionof the San Dominick. Melville writes in the third person omniscient point of view in order to allow the audience to come to their own conclusions about the ship, but also heavily utilizes diction and sentence structure to give readers clues about what to expect from the characters and plot. To give the passage context, Delano is finally seeing the San Dominick clearly for the first time, not yet having met the passengers of the ship. Delano is alone and it can be assumed that the description is his point of view, due to the fact that the anonymous narrator appears to be pulling these images and renditions from Delano s mind. Because of this, the reader is encouraged to think ahead about the ship s culture, its passengers, and the types of things Delano will encounter if he decides to approach and explore it. Books give emotions and have people go through states of suspense, thriller, action, and so much more. In this book, Jurassic Park, I did experience a lot of those emotions and realized the adventure the book took me through. • 12. The Impact Of Eu Liberalisation Policy On The Uk Energy... This essay will detail the impact of EU liberalisation policy on the UK energy industry and relate this to a previous sample of a group of suppliers. This essay will discuss industry supplier concentration, oligopoly and monopolistic competition, the EU competition commission and potential single markets which are not yet subject to scrutiny by the competition commission. Industry supplier concentration measures how many suppliers there are in a certain industry. The amount of firms in an industry will affect whether the firms are involved in an oligopoly, a monopolistic market or a perfectly competitive market. Concentration ratios can be used to measure how concentrated a certain industry is. The most common concentration ratio used is the four firm concentration ratio which measures the output of the 4 largest firms in the market and gives that as a ratio of the overall industry sales. Another method of measuring concentration within an industry is by using the Herfindahl Hirschman Index (HHI).This measurement is calculated by determining the market share of each firm, squaring each number then adding them together. If the number that is calculated is below 1000 it is considered to be of a low concentration and if it is above 1800 it is considered highly concentrated, however it can be between 0 (perfect competition) and 10,000 (pure monopoly). • 15. Exploring The Exotification Of East Asian Women In this essay, I will be exploring the exotification of East Asian women in modern day society. My area of investigation in this writing is how these tropes pose danger towards East Asian women, instead of the misconception that they feel flattered and sees it as a compliment . Orientalism is, according to Oxford English Dictionary, a term defined as styles, artefacts or traits considered as the characteristics of the people and cultures in Asia . It is also defined as the representation of Asia in a stereotyped way that is regarded as embodying a colonialist attitude1. According to Edward Said, Orientalism exists in when the creation of representation of exotic lands does not imbue aspects of the society to be portrayed2. Orientalism became prominent since the 18th century, when Western colonialists began their domination in Asia. It is during the rise of colonialism in the 18th century when many Westerners fetishized the East. The generalization of the culture separates them as the East and the West, making East the Other 3. Otherness, resulted from Orientalism, have painted East Asian women as so foreign that from mid 1800 brothels until this day, racist humour about how the vaginas of East Asian women would defy all odds and look different in comparison. People often not realize the harm done to East Asian Women when calling them exotic and oriental , instead thought these are compliments and they should feel flattered. The Differing Perspectives of Greek Philosophers Essay Unlike Parmenides and Heraclitus, who took a clear stance on whether being is changing or unchanging, Empedocles argued that things do change, but these objects are composed of materials that do not change. The change that we see is merely a cause of the interaction and changes in position of the four basic elements (earth, air, fire, and water). Much like Heraclitus and his views that orderly change is brought about by the logos , Empedocles also recognized that there was a force responsible for the change brought about. In his case, changes in the forms and positions of the basic elements was an effect of two forces love and strife (or more commonly known as the forces of attraction and repulsion/decomposition). Not until recently did we find that atoms, which were assumed to be matter s basic particles, where themselves made up of even smaller particles. So in that sense, Anaximander is correct in his philosophy of there being a pure substance , which is the root of everything that we see. Heraclitus and Parmenides both recognized that the materials which make up the universe could be broken down to one basic substance, but they came to disagreement over what that basic substance was exactly, as well as the state of being. Heraclitus believed that everything was fire (or made of fire), and that it was the fundamental source of change in the universe because a main property of the universe was that it was in a constant state of changing. Parmenides argued that the entire idea of change was impossible and that the universe was essentially unmoving and unchanging. Parmenides was a Monist, so he held the idea that the world is unitary, and that all the individuals in it are part of an even greater unified whole. One of his arguments that motion and states of being are impossible. Protagoras was a sophist, who believed that knowledge was relative. This connects back to Owen s purpose of getting society s attention and comprehension of the mentally injured men so they can help them. In this same stanza, a visual imagery that goes back to the idea of the living death of the first stanza is introduced with the words set smiling corpses. He was an advocate of his own school of thought called radical behaviorism, and conducted experimental analysis of behavior. In About Behaviorism, B.F. Skinner expands on methodological behaviorisms central tenet and its weaknesses. Skinner illustrated that in methodological behaviorism, the only admissible and relevant evidence in scientific psychology is behavioral data. The first premise of radical behaviorism is that psychology should concern itself with the observable behavior of organism, not the unobservable mental events. The second premise is that the study of behavior should be a natural science, much like biology, chemistry and physics, relying on hypotheses, controlled variables and evidence. Thus he concludes that radical behaviorism repairs the damages done by mentalism to scientific psychology because a scientific psychological theory will consist of laws directly relating controlled stimuli to behaviors. Radical behaviorism does not acknowledge mental events at all, in which behavior is restricted to an input output relationship, thus allowing psychology to be a form of evidence driven science. Through the framework of radical behaviorism, Skinner discusses perception and imagination, which he calls seeing in the absence of the thing seen. Skinner claims that the act of imagining does not constitute a mental event, and thus does not threaten the premise of behaviorism. Skinner insists that imagery is not a thing, but rather the act of imagining and visualizing is a behavior. After robbing the bank, the two robbers engaged in a shootout between them and a group of officers that lasted for an hour with the bandit s automatic weapons and the police s standard guns and pistols (Ayres). The shootout resulted in ten police officers wounded by the bandit s assault rifles, five citizens passing by the bank getting shot, and several others inside the bank during the theft being injured during the heist (Ayres). There is nothing like watching boxers fight and sweat until one of them gives up and falls. The rules of boxing are straight forward. However, it is a very complex sport that requires intense training and conditioning. There are no time outs and there are no teammates who can help the boxers in the ring. It is the ultimate sport that requires strength, discipline and skills. although, there are many controversies surrounding the sport, professional boxingshould not be banned because it is a safe and technical sport that boxers choose to do by their own free will. One of the most controversial topics surrounding boxing is safety. Boxers step in to the ring to throw punches at each other s faces and test their limits. However, over the years, safety precautions have improved significantly. Every professional match is chosen very carefully. The boxing commission makes sure that boxers don t over fight themselves. The weight classes are much more detailed now. Besides, weight and height of the boxers are not the only criteria for a proper match up. The tensions that developed were primarily over military, political, cultural and social ideas that varied greatly between the two nations. Each Nation and its allies developed a distrust that would last for many years and introduce new military and political methods that would shape our future. Stalin thought the USA and Britain had not helped the USSR enough in World War II. They charged the United States with practicing imperialism and attempting to stop revolutionary activity in other countries. Both nations were somewhat correct in their fears. Because of these strong beliefs the tensions between the two nations grew stronger, and negotiations grew further apart. • 38. What Are Cell Surface Carbohydrates Cell surface carbohydrates are carbohydrate chains that are bonded to lipids and proteins that are within the phospholipid bilayer of a cell. These are known as glycolipids and glycoproteins; they have carbohydrate chains protruding from them out of the cell membrane surface. They are the first molecules to be encountered and recognized by other cells, so they are used to identify the cell. Carbohydrates are used as the ligand component of glycoconjugates (glycoproteins and glycolipids) and their structure varies depending on the structure of the molecule it binds to, ranging from small saccharide units to very large polysaccharide chains. Although the carbohydrate chains are generally oligosaccharides and can either be straight or branched. Cell surface carbohydrates coat the exterior surfaces of cell membranes and extend from the phospholipid bilayer into the aqueous environment outside the cell presenting information rich binding sites and have the potential to carry necessary information to act as markers for cellular recognition. • 39. Aldous Huxley Literary Analysis Aldous Huxley, English writer, novelist and philosopher raised in upper class milieus to the end of the 19th century, is considered as one of the most brilliant men of his time, thanks to his great use of intellectual analysis and satire among other resources as a medium for social criticism. His evolution as a writer may be divided into three different phases determined by several changes in his way of thinking or writing: he takes his first steps as a novelist through mysticism, then he falls under the influence of D. H. Lawrence in what is called the Lawrencian interlude and finally, he comes back to mysticism, retracing the path he once followed. His early novels, such as Crome Yellow (1921), Antic Hay (1923) and Those Barren Leaves (1925), show the ironic, sceptic and real nature of Huxley in his first phase. After having lost all faith in humanity after the Great War in 1914, he found the solution for his despair in philosophical mysticism : we must be free from the body, the intellect and the personality. This doctrine is particularly present in the latter novel mentioned, in which the character Calamy takes the decision of living a hermit s life of meditation in the Italian mountains.... After the bath, I gave him some Tylenol and put him back in bed, where he slept for two hours. Once he woke up from his nap, I set him on the couch to watch some TV while I grabbed him another dose of Tylenol. I went into the kitchen to get him the Tylenol, while in there I asked Kade if he wanted some milk, I got no response, and I asked again still nothing. I had begun to become a little concerned. I went over to check on him and to see if he had fallen back asleep. When I got over to him, his eyes were open, I said his name again, he did nothing, just stared in a completely blank stare (he looked like he was dead). The mythical tale reiterates the moral practices and beliefs that a culture needs to succeed. There are four purposes for writing a myth: First myths help in expressing humanity s fear and wonder of nature, myths helps to explain the creation of the universe, myths gives the readers moral guidelines that should be followed, and finally, myths gives instructions on how to contend with crises. Job is perfectly willing to have the birds, beast, fish, and earth testify to the truth of God s ways (58). Job is telling his friend that God does not seek retribution on the earth (natural disasters are not God s way of punishing), but that if God did, it would be the just and right thing for the Lord to do. When examining Job, the reader finds that morality plays an intriguing part of the overall message. Job is a person who lives by example, and he stands for the ideal believer. Job is a man of integrity and honor. Norman Habel writes, The blamelessness and integrity of Job is a governing theme introduced in the prologue and developed throughout the subsequent dialogue speeches of the book (82). The reader finds that Job s integrity is being tested throughout his story, and the examples of how he lives should be copied by the readers. In this case, the readers should follow Job s devout faith and unfailing belief in the Lord. The Book of Job provides the moral guidance needed to make this a mythological story.
