An Essay About Abortion
Crafting an essay on the topic of abortion is an intricate endeavor that demands a delicate
balance of sensitivity, research, and logical reasoning. The subject itself is highly controversial,
laden with moral, ethical, and political implications, making it challenging to navigate without
invoking strong emotions from readers.
One of the primary challenges lies in maintaining objectivity amid the emotionally charged
nature of the topic. It requires a careful selection of language to avoid unintentional bias and to
present a fair and comprehensive view of the different perspectives surrounding abortion.
Striking this balance is crucial to fostering a constructive dialogue rather than perpetuating a
polarized debate.
Moreover, conducting thorough research is essential to provide a well-informed foundation for
the essay. The multifaceted nature of abortion involves medical, legal, social, and ethical aspects,
requiring a deep dive into each realm to present a nuanced analysis. Navigating through the
plethora of studies, court cases, and societal viewpoints can be daunting, necessitating a critical
evaluation of sources to ensure credibility and reliability.
Additionally, addressing the diverse perspectives on abortion requires a careful examination of
cultural, religious, and philosophical beliefs. The essay must acknowledge the varying viewpoints
without succumbing to oversimplification, recognizing the complexity of individual experiences
and societal norms.
Furthermore, the task involves a profound responsibility to respect the sensitivities of readers
who may have personal connections or emotional stakes in the subject matter. Striking a tone of
empathy while maintaining academic rigor is crucial to fostering a connection with the audience.
In conclusion, crafting an essay on the topic of abortion demands a high level of skill, requiring a
delicate balance of objectivity, thorough research, and empathy. It is not merely an intellectual
exercise but a moral and ethical challenge that necessitates careful consideration of language,
perspectives, and the emotional impact on readers.

This is one such story. This book is based on a real man and his struggles in life
from his perspective. He seems ordinary at first. As the story unfolds there are
some incredible discoveries made about what makes a good man and the
sometimes seemingly impossible process in which one is formed. It s a story of
life, death, struggle, crushed hearts, success and love for all to enjoy! Brace
yourself for an emotional rollercoaster ride driven by personally invested interest.
Take great detail in reading and feel what he feels, bury yourself in experiencing
what he experiences and use what you learn from this man to better yourself and
others. Share his story to help others; this is his most grand desire. A single life
changed for the better is one of his greatest rewards. Many people would not
consider their lives interesting enough to capture and hold an audience s interest. I
chose to write about this man because I don t think he has led a boring life by any
definition of the words. Where he had initially failed to see the value of its content
and did not see the incredible challenges he has overcome to build the man he is
today, I have discovered otherwise. Any story of a person going above and beyond
with self sacrifice at the highest of levels is worth writing about in my opinion. Even
when facing the toughest of obstacles, the love for humanity in this man s heart

Sonographer Patient Interactions in the Health Care Field
The profession of sonography has been around for over thirteen years; however, if
one were to ask the average American what the occupation of a Sonographer entitled,
there would likely be a wide range of answers. When most individuals hear the word
Ultrasound they will automatically pair this term with pregnant women. Very seldom
would one put the profession of sonography with other aspects of Health Care such as
Cardiac output, or Liver functionality. Diagnostic sonography is medical two
dimensional and three dimensional anatomic flow imaging using ultrasound.
Ultrasound imaging is not a passive push button activity but rather an interactive
process involving the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With this assessment the sonographer is trying to obtain any applicable data regarding
the patients medical history. Important information includes any essential family
history that could be in relation to the diagnostic ultrasound procedure. It is the
responsibility of the sonographer to verify the patients identity and that the requested
procedure correlates with the patients needs and history. It is vital for the sonographer
to use interviewing techniques to gather any and all relevant information from the
patient or the patient s representative, while furthermore making sure the patients
remains comfortable and at ease. Not only is it crucial for the sonographer to evaluate
the patient s identity and family/medical history, but also it is important for the
sonographer to search for any contra indications to the procedure, such as the patient s
preparation for the procedure, any medications that the patient may currently be
taking, or the patient s inability or unwillingness to tolerate the procedure.
(CITATION). Only when all information is collected and verified is it acceptable for
the sonographer to continue to with procedure. Effective communication is necessary
in order to achieve positive sonographer patient interaction. Without the proper
education, maintaining the appropriate effective communication skills would be a
struggle. Effective communication and education are necessary to establish a
Advice For First Writing Course At The University Of...
Advice to First Writing Course at the University of Central Florida
Writing courses can be challenging and that is why I decided to write this personal
narrative. I believe that a personal narrative is better for an advice column than a
research paper. A personal narrative would give more personal experience and
insight on how the course was. It would be more valid since it is true. I think people
learn better when they read and hear something from the person they are talking to
rather than being about other people, especially when it comes to advice.
English courses, just like any core class, expects a lot from the students. ENC 1101

They can properly quote it or paraphrase it using MLA format. This will demonstrate
the student using strategies to better comprehend difficult texts. Students should also
learn to adapt to different writing contexts. Throughout this course, I had to learn
new vocabulary such as rhetorical situation and discourse community. These are
actually types of essays I had to write during this course. When writing these types
of essays, one has to keep in mind their audiences and their own experience. Lastly,
students will consider how social, rhetorical, and technological contexts shape writing
because it reflects sensitivity to school writing as a social affair (McCarthy 231).
There are some constraints that I had to think about when deciding the genre of
this paper. One constraint to this personal narrative is the time I took this course. I
took ENC 1101 during the Summer B section. Summer B was only six weeks long
and I had to learn the concepts of this course in that amount of time when it usually
takes around sixteen weeks. This made the course much harder for me and other
students. Especially because English is my second language, it takes me longer to
read and analyze articles. This was also one out of two of my first classes as a
college students. It is a different environment and I had to adapt to different situations
and expectations. Another constraint is about those students that already have credit
for ENC
Compare 1984 And 1984
You may write me down in history with your bitter, twisted lies, you may trod me
in the very dirt, but still, like dust, I ll rise. Both Orwell s 1984 and Huxley s Brave
New World embody how history can be altered to fit an illusionist dystopian
society. Within their fractured worlds both writers have created non conformist
characters; arguably to emphasise and bring contrast to the distorted worlds of Big
Brother and Huxley s vision of innovative London. Orwell decided to present
Winston as a refreshing controversy to the frantic world of which the reader is
exposed to. Winston embodies a lack of hatred against Goldstein Orwell introduces
the reader to Winston s condemned hatred for Big Brother. Which progresses and
declines rapidly. Reflecting the quick change within... Show more content on

Orwell, adopts a subtler acknowledgment of Shakespeare. Winston woke up with
the word Shakespeare on his lips. Whereas, Huxley uses a more romanticist
approach did he dare? Dare to profane with his unworthiest hand that... No, he didn
t. Interestingly, both authors use Shakespeare to describe their male characters
attitudes sexually, towards women. Orwell s Winston doesn t initially have any
erotic urges within his dream of a naked woman. But is unable to vocalise the way
he perceived his dream. So reverts to using the word Shakespeare. Whereas, Huxley
s John who has read the full works of Shakespeare and is considered absurd, when he
uses them to verbalise the emotions that language prevents him from doing. However,
the authors contrast in their characters use of the additional language Shakespeare
can provide for the authors protagonists. As Lena Gräf suggests, Everything that is
done in the Brave New World has the purpose of fulfilling the state s motto:
Community, Identity, Stability. The concept of nature in relationships and birth; is
almost taboo.
As An Accounting Major, It Is Kind Of Odd That This Is
As an accounting major, it is kind of odd that this is the most I ve actually
researched possible careers in accounting. But through my research, I ve found
many different possible careers that my degree could get me. There were dozens
ranging from jobs that required an associate s degree in accounting, all the way to
careers that required a master s degree in accounting, as well as certificates that
closely relate to them, and they paid anywhere from $30,000 to over $100,000. To
be completely honest, there were times when I wondered why companies need an
entire different division for accounting, but after seeing just how many different jobs
there were in the field, things started to make a bit more sense. The first career from...

The biggest reason that these caught my attention was the fact that what we had
been covering as just a single account had an entire career dedicated to it. I guess
after just listing accounts payable as a single liability I forgot that multiple debts
make up that account. It also just occurred to me that if a company would hire a
person just to cover a single account, these accounts must not be stationary very
often. For a career to require a person to come to work every day, each account
must increase and/or decrease every day, and some days multiple times. After that
realization, I realized just how easy it must be to make a single mistake, and just
how easily a single mistake on one account that one person was responsible for could
affect the entire company. Accounting, just like any other job that I have worked,
requires a team. And everyone on that team must hold up their end, or else the
consequences will be catastrophic. In the same way that a single miscommunication
can ruin a transaction at a fast food restaurant, a single miscommunication could ruin
a company s financial statements. It shows just how much attention to detail is
required for a job in accounting. The next job that I noticed was the FBI Agent
specializing in accounting. I feel as though I don t even need to explain why this one
caught my eye. I mean, even if you don t intend to read it, you always

Everyone becomes aware of their fate and calls loved ones as an act of last words .
Ever since 9/11 the safety of a plane and its people has been every airlines top
priority. There have been many changes in how an airline runs, some temporary
and some everlasting. New advancements in machines for checking bags and
people has sky rocketed. For example metal detectors, X Rays and trace portal
machines, all which check the human body for hidden metal and traces of bomb
making material. There have also been added safety rules to create stricter
guidelines on passenger and luggage screening, only passengers with tickets could
go through security and travelers must remove shoes (Villemez 1). Liquids are no
longer allowed on the plane unless distributed by the stewardess when you arrive
on the plane ( Villemez 1). History The past is always recognized because it paves
the way for the future. Many people study the past to make advancements so past
happenings will not be repeated in the future. Looking back in the past for pilots,
that job type has always been risky. There has always been the risk in flying a hunk
of metal in the sky for miles trying to keep the plane steady with out crashing while
facing adversity like turbulence and rain, but now there is an added worry to also
losing control of the plane. Pilots now also must worry about extremists potentially
hijacking the plane. There have been previous plane hijackings in the
Seamus Heaney
Seamus Heaney s Background and Poetry Seamus Heaney had a Roman Catholic
upbringing in a rural area of Northern Ireland. How does his poetry reflect his
background? Heaney s poetry is able to reflect his background by his use of
language and the technique he expresses his experiences. I will cover his
background into three sections: his childhood, the community and his reflections. I
will start by looking at his feelings and experiences in the poem Death of a
Naturalist . The poet remembers the time when he was a young child. He saw the
reality of what frogs were really like in the outdoors compared to what was taught in
school. In school, the frogs are described like a typical teacher talking to young
pupils. It is very... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The finish illustrated how he feared for what was in the pond. He delivers his
message very effectively. He says an unequivocal word in the sentence; and I knew
that if I dipped my hand the spawn would clutch it. He knew that it would clutch
his hand showing how positive and definite he was feeling. The experience had so
much impact on Heaney altering his emotions before the incident occurred. The
title is very striking and ironic. The definition of a naturalist is someone who is an
expert in natural history. Heaney was learning nature from direct observation but
this stopped him from ever becoming a naturalist due to the fact that he found it a
nightmare. Hence the word Death The poem is done with unrhymed iambic
pentameter lines. The use of onomatopoeia is very frequent such as: slap and plop
, farting and gargled . The continuous, repulsive words help bring the poem to life
and show how terrifying his experience was. E.g. rotted , festered , slobber and
slime kings . In the first section, the poet shows that he has a scientific interest. This
is shown by the way he uses the technical names to call the frogs e.g. bullfrog and
frogspawn rather than the patronizing words daddy and mammy from the teacher.
The second section is like vengeance and a punishment in the eyes of the young poet.
Heaney possibly never got past the simple idea that the frogs were not just mammy
or daddy frogs. The
Continental Marines Research Paper
During the American Revolution , the Continental Congress passes a resolution
stating that two Battalions of Marines be raised for service as landing forces for the
recently formed Continental Navy. The resolution, drafted by future U.S. president
John Adams and adopted in Philadelphia, created the Continental Marines and is now
observed as the birth date of the United States Marine Corps.
Serving on land and at sea, the original U.S. Marines distinguished themselves in a
number of important operations during the Revolutionary War. The first Marine
landing on a hostile shore occurred when a force of Marines under Captain Samuel
Nicholas captured New Province Island in the Bahamas from the British in March

Lieutenant Presley O Bannon and his Marines marched across 600 miles of the

the USS Philadelphia.
The Marines victory helped protect U.S. ships and secure our trading in the area. As
a gesture of respect and praise for the Marines action at the Battle of Derna, First
Lieutenant O Bannon was presented a Mameluke sword by the Ottoman Empire
vicery, Prince Hamet, which is now the oldest ceremonial weapon still in use by
United States armed forces today.
The Battle of Derna was the Marines first ground battle on foreign soil and is
notably recalled in the Marines Hymn: From the Halls of Montezuma to the shores
of Tripoli, we fight our country s battles in the air, on land and sea

College Cost In College
The author talks about college cost, and the effect it has on students and on how
times it takes longer to graduate. This is an important topic because college cost
has been a problem for many individuals for decades and it still is. College cost is
something that shapes people s lives and it worries them because collegecost is what
determines if they re going to continue going to college. It s something that people
should take lightly because college is pretty expensive. According to the advocacy
group complete college America, it cost 63,718 for one extra year to attend college.
For students who take longer to finish schoolbecause of certain requisites, it becomes
a toll because of the cost. According to Norton Field Guide to writing by Richard
Bullock and Maureen Daly Goggin found a report on Los Angeles bases campaigns
for college opportunity, saying students who attend school 6 years instead of 4
years will lose 110,900 dollars in their lifetime. Many people in the work field and
colleges expect students to attend school for four years. According to the NFGW,
nearly nine out of 10 freshmen think they will earn their bachelor degree within the
traditional four years. Yet In the NFGW quotes the U.S Department of Educationand
they report that about 45 percent won t have finished.
I have encountered many people who have mentioned that college is very expensive
and that it has been a big factor on whether they would continue their education.

In terms of its operational performance Saab has managed to improve since the
Spyker take over (in early 2010). The number of cars sold increased by 15% from
2009 to 2010 while the number of cars produced improved by 53% in the same
time. Therefore Saab was able to re stock the inventories of dealers that were running
low, especially in the US (Saab, Saab Automobilesees, 2011). This shows that the
company is on the way to a viable company and has the potential to expand further in
the upcoming years. However, an issue of up most importance is the dealing with the
large debt obligations that Saab has accumulated. The п¬Ѓgure of net working capital
of € 220 million illustrates the severity of the financial situation and the cost of
new capital, meaning it will be very difficult and costly for Saab to obtain further
funds which are needed to implement their strategic decisions (Spyker cars N.V.,
2011) .

The Diels Alder step is the bottleneck of previous synthetic strategies due to its
wasteful reaction and low yield. Our synthetic strategy was able to produce the
scaffold using the Diels Alder reaction and high yield. This is due to the added
solubility of the non functional anthracene. Unfortunately, our total yield is lowered
due to the alkylation of the scaffold. Reproducing the 98% yield will further increase
our total yield and goal. In the future, optimizing the alkylation step is necessary to
reach the previously reported yield. The next step in the synthesis is brominating the
scaffold, which will allow different functional groups to be added using metal
catalysis. Sonagashira will be used to add different functional groups. Since our
strategy allows us to add functionality at the end with no bottleneck reaction,
Pentiptycene can be synthesized in higher quantity without wasting material.
Optimizing this synthesis will further the study of pentiptycene as novel material for

The Dichotomy Of Religion In Yann Martel s Pi
As I mature into a young adult, my thoughts and feelings about certain topics have
changed. One of those topics is religion. I started out as a very devout Christian
when I was younger, but as I got older I began to disagree with a lot of the things I
followed. Over time, I stopped liking Christianity altogether and only believed that
people followed it because it gave them a higher moral ground above everyone else.
However, Yann Martel s novel gave me the epiphany that religionmeant so much
more than this.
For example, in the novel, Pi drifts upon an island with the tiger, Richard Parker.
Richard Parker goes to do his own thing while Pi eats the algae and is
overwhelmed with euphoria (as he had been on the sea for quite some time). He
doesn t stop to think about how everything worked on the island and just took in
everything it had to offer. This symbolizes how some followers of religion don t
think logically about how life works or even about their own religion and go with it.
In my case, for Christianity, I realized why so many people didn t stop to think about
why some illogical things happened in the Bible. They simply don t care and are
happy with what Christianity had to offer. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The small mammals do not even hesitate to move, and a few even jump up and
down as if they were saying My turn! My turn! Pi perceives this as that the
meerkats were not fazed by anything, not even death. This symbolizes how
followers of religion follow it so closely that nothing scares them. Here, I realized
why some Christians are not afraid of death or why Christians tend to live happy
lives. They aren t afraid of death because if they are morally right in life, such as not
doing drugs or following the Golden Rule , then they will get a wonderful afterlife.
Although Christianity is not a perfect religion, it causes people to lead happy and/or
peaceful lives without even realizing
Different Methods, Bacteria, And Development
Transduction,...
Through three different methods, bacteria can obtain new genetic material:
conjugation, transduction and transformation Transduction is when a bacteriophage
inserts it s DNA into the host bacteria cell, while conjugation is when the bacteria
shares DNA through direct contact, eg. horizontal gene transfer. The third method,
transformation, is the intake of external DNA into the cell (Chen and Dubnau, 2004).
In order for bacteriato be able to take in extraneous DNA, they must first be in a state
of competent (Hanahan, 1983). There are two types of transformation cells in
transformation: natural competence and artificial competence. Natural
transformation can occur in both gram negative and gram positive bacteria, but
have different pathways to take in the new DNA. There are several ways to induce
competence onto some bacteria cells, that are not naturally competence. Cells can
be treated to heat shock, starved of nutrients, the use of electroporation or keep in
ionic solutions to induce competence by increasing the permeability of the
membrane (Van der Rest et al., 1999). Plasmids are circular double stranded DNA
found in bacteria that can encode for basic necessary functions (Couturier, et al.,
1988). Ampicillin (6[D( ) a aminophenylacetamido] penicillanic acid) is an
antibiotic that is a derivative of penicillin and is can work against both gram
negative and gram positive bacteria (Acred et al. 1962)
The experiment insisted of insertion of plasmids that

presidential hopefuls has employed a marketing campaign to earn the support of
voters across the country, and the strategies used have given politics an infamous
reputation. From their humble beginnings during the George Washington era to their
infamy in modern elections, political advertisements have undergone extensive
changes. Although advertisements were originally positive messages intended to
gather support, they have recently taken a negative turn. These negative ads often
defame other candidates, attacking their credibility and qualifications for the
presidency. Demand from radical supporters and technological advancements are to
blame for this change, causing political advertising to transform into harsh attacks, as
well as strategized marketing ploys aimed to win the support of voters. During the
first presidential electionof George Washington there was no need for political
advertising, as Washington ran unopposed. After leading the United States to victory
in the Revolutionary War, he did not need to convince anyone of his ability to lead
the young nation. Despite not campaigning for the office, Washington won the
election unanimously in 1789, and re elected unanimously in 1792, making him the
only president in history to win by a unanimous decision (Eddins). Unlike
Washington, his successors found

their brains with knowledge of various students. However, this is not the only way
to learn. For example, many are unaware of the thrill from jumping out of plane and

That Sugar Film Analysis
That Sugar Film is a 2014 documentary directed and hosted by Damon Gameau. The
health documentary is focused on an audience of mainly parents, families, and
teenagers, and its main topic and purpose is to point out the risks of sugar in your
diet and to convince to stop the consumption of sugar in diets through an experiment
where he himself is the protagonist. The main techniques of this documentary are
graphics and music to keep people focused on its documentary; he also used clips and
interviews with scientists, doctors and other professionals as a technique to convince
the audience of the veracity of his argument.
During the whole documentary researchers, doctors and health professional give their
opinion about sugar, food, the effects of a high sugar diet, the amount of sugar
consumed depending on the food we eat even if we think that we are involved in a
healthy diet. He does this through the graphics in which he uses visual effects (CGI
computer generated imagery) of them talking through egg boxes, yoghurt packs,
advertising panels and different products in real life scenes. There is ... Show more

At the beginning the health professionals selected to check and confirm the changes
in his body through the experiment are presented; they prevent Gameau from the
changes he will have and the risks to his health. After that, different clips of
specialists giving short opinions about sugar and its impact on human health are
used. The fact that these are short, along with the graphics referred in paragraph two,
make them easy to remember. He also interviews a doctor with an opposite opinion,
but the host makes clear that he is not credible due to his resources; this leads the
audience to believe in Gameau s point. In the last interviews with the specialists, they
reveal the final results, and give their opinion about the experiment and results
Leadership And Leadership Development Programs
Leadership development is defined as formal and informal training and professional
development programs designed for all management and executive level employees
to assist in developing the required leadership skills and styles to deal with a variety
of situations (Human Resources, 2011). A lack of effective leadershipdevelopment
programs usually comes from organizations thinking that senior managers need
continuous training and development. However, great leadership development is
essential to all employees and managers in an organization. Executive mangers are
important to the success of any business but, building leadership skills on all
levels can develop a culture of employees ready to take on leadership roles at any
time. In my organization, we develop and hone leadership skills by focusing on
team intelligence, managing up and down, succession planning, and performance
problem solving. The building and leading of teams impacts the outcome of
organizational objective and can support the emergence of leaders. It is a
tremendous benefit for teams to understand and acknowledge the strengths and
challenges of each members, as well as a mission and roadmap with agreed upon
boundaries. Leaders that have high levels of emotional intelligence (EQ) are aware
their team s intelligence and know how to use EQ to sharpen leadership skills among
their team. Emotional intelligence (EQ) is defined as a person s self awareness, self
confidence, self control, commitment and

Inventors and military men devised new types of weapons, such as the repeating
rifle and the submarine, that forever changed the way that wars were fought. Even
more important were the technologies that did not specifically have to do with the
war, like the railroad and the telegraph. Before the civil war that had guns called
muskets and they only carried one bullet. The range of the muskets were 250 yards.
In 1848, a French army officer named Claude MiniГ© invented a cone shaped lead
bullet with a diameter smaller than that of the rifle barrel. Soldiers could load these
MiniГ© balls quickly, without the aid of ramrods or mallets. Rifles with MiniГ©
bullets were more accurate, and therefore deadlier, than muskets were, which forced

Essential Oils Used In Aromatherapy
Essential oils used in aromatherapy are made from the parts of the plant that contain
an aroma. Depending on the plant, this could be the leaves, bark, seeds or fruit, or a
combination of several.
Essential Oils Used in Aromatherapy
Essential oils are the regenerating, oxygenating, and immune defense properties of
plants. A pure essential oilcontains only these oils, or essences, made up of the
aroma molecules. Ancient Egyptian and Chinese texts contain written evidence that
people used essential oils thousands of years ago to embalm corpses, heal sick
people. and perform cleansing and bathing rituals. There are 188 references to
essential oils in the Bible. Oils such as frankincense, myrrh, rosemary, hyssop, and

There are hundreds of components, such as terpenes, aldehydes and esters found in
the oils in varying degrees. Because of the complex and unique chemistry of each
essential oil the healing properties vary and each oil can typically be used to treat a
wide variety of health issues. Due to their tiny molecular structure, essential oils
applied to the skin can be easily absorbed into the bloodstream. When essential oils
are inhaled, they pass through the tiny air sacs to the surrounding blood capillaries by
the process of diffusion. Once in the bloodstream the aromatic molecules interact with
the body s chemistry. Aromatherapy essential oil properties include anti bacterial, anti
cancerous, anti fungal, anti infectious, anti microbial, anti tumoral, anti parasitic, anti
viral, and antiseptic. Essential oils have been shown to destroy all tested bacteria and
viruses while simultaneously restoring balance to the body. The 10 most popular
essential oils of the early 21st century are bergamot, frankincense, geranium, jasmine,
lavender, oregano, peppermint, rose, sandalwood, and tea
Contract Law
Business Law Assignment; Mistake in contract law, is a factual misunderstanding
that may lead to a failure of a meeting of the minds. Unilateral mistake is mean that
is only one party is mistaken, but the other party knows, or ought reasonably to be
aware of the mistake. Contract may be void or voidable. Voidis a contract that is no
legal effect. While, voidableis an agreement that may be affirmed or rejected at the
option of one of the party. The reason why Lord Denning took the view that these
two cases could not be reconciled and how the apparent conflict between these two
cases was resolved by the decision in Lewis v Averay was explain.
The first case under unilateral mistake is Boulton v Jones(1857). In this case, the

The plaintiffs, Phillips found out the cheque was dishonoured after the rogue was
sold the ring to the defendant. Therefore, the plaintiffs sued the defendant to claim

contract is not void. This is because the plaintiffs was intended to deal with the
rogue before the rogue pretended to be Sir George. There was no mistake of identity
can found in this case.
The anomalies between Phillips v Brooks (1919) and Ingram v Little (1960) was
identified and explained. In Phillips v Brooks (1919), the issue is who did Phillips
intend to contract with? The real Sir George Bullough or the person standing in
front of him? Since the plaintiffs in this case had checked the detail of the rogue
but that was the detail of the real Sir George. While in the case of Ingram v Little
(1960), the issue is did the original seller take sufficient steps to check the identity
of the person in front of her? In the case, the plaintiffs also had checks the
information and detail of the rogue in front of her but did she took the correct and
efficient steps to check the identity? Lord Denning said that the two precedent
cases of Phillips v Brooks (1919) and Ingram v Little (1960) cannot be reconciled.
There are three reasons why he said the decisions of the two cases were in conflict.
The first reason is the material facts in Phillips v Brooks (1919) and Ingram v Little
(1960) were indistinguishable. In

The more I learned about it the more it fit the interest I have in creating new aspects

the observer even more to reflect upon. My goal with this project is to create a...

the rows is connected together, so putting wires in that row is like twisting them

Reflection About Apathy
Students line the patterned red seats in the high school auditorium. While the
speaker on stage bellows his gospel of forgiveness, some students halfheartedly nod
along, some stare at their shoes, and some snore. Looking around the chapel from
my seat in the back row, I am overwhelmed with one impression: apathy. This mood
that hung in the room was pervasive, making me feel uncomfortable because I
realized that I felt it too. While I usually enjoy learningfor its own sake, apathy has
not escaped me. Not only does this mindset manifest in my school s chapel services,
but also in the classroom. When students do not care about learning, they either put in
the least amount of effort possible or resort to rote memorization to maintain their
grade. Instead of understanding the material, they glean little knowledge that they can
apply to their lives, making educationrelatively pointless. This thoughtlessness
maddens me because I want to be purposeful in everything that I do. During my
junior year of high school, apathetic students and teachers led me to rediscover the
power I have over my own education. In my physics class, I was miserable: I did not
learn I memorized. Although my teacher had good intentions and a passion for the
subject, he taught us terms and formulas, skirting around fundamentals such as how
these concepts connected to each other. Work equals the applied force times change
in time times cosine of the angle. As I sat in my front row seat and

Personal Narrative-Football
I was nine years old in 1952, and it was on a brisk August Sunday afternoon when
my Dad took me to my very first 49ers game at Kezar Stadium for an exhibition
contest against the Cardinals, from Chicago. As I remember the weather was overcast
and the temperature a cool 60 degrees.
We left our home at 11:30 a.m., and we walked down Lincoln Way towards the
stadium. Dad said that this was his weekly ritual, traveling the same way to every
home game. The narrow streets leading to Kezar were jammed with cars; many
headed in the wrong direction, while fans were coming by foot, by bus, by trolley,
by bicycle, even on roller skates to see the game.
We we arrived at the stadium around noon time. There, we stood in a long line to buy

For me, pro football was born August 24, 1952. Every 49er would now be playing in
front of me. Can you blame me for going gaga?
We settled on wooden benches that was our seating at Kezar for the afternoon. The
benches allowed about sixteen inches per backside, and each row had thirty six seats.
From our vantage point, we sat directly under a giant scoreboard; the clock displayed
had a minute and a second hand; which noted the time left in a quarter.
Dad described: When the clock wound down to the final minute, with the two hands
converging, players and coaches always had difficulty determining how much time
remained. There would be a couple of guys inside watching the game through those
little slots with big numbered cards, inwhich they would manually change the score
as the situation changed.
Game programs cost 25 cents, and Dad was quick to buy one. Inside the program
were great photos of many 49er players in action poses. There was also a cartoon of
a gold miner shooting off two pistols; one of which was aimed at his own head! I
instantly fell in love with the zany little prospector. Dad commented that gold miner

Sri Lanka s Continual Civil War The ethnic tension between Sri Lanka s majority

majority and the minority being mostly Hindu and are called Tamil, has been going

war. The civil war has been mostly between the government of Sri Lanka and the
militant organization called the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam. The LTTE are

Not only did this hurt civilians but it also affected the Sri Lankan economy
negatively. With a sizeable amount of money coming into the country through
tourism, having eight planes destroyed is not good for business. This definitely
cost the Sri Lankan government hundreds of thousands, if not millions of dollars.
Since 1980 the LTTE has carried out more than 200 suicide bombing attacks which
goes to show the morale and passion these people have for creating their own state
and punishing Sri Lanka in order to do so. Force and persuasion are the two
dominant faces of power used by the Sri Lankan government while trying to get
under control the LTTE and finally end their ongoing civil war. On the other hand,
the LTTE has predominately used punishment against the government of Sri Lanka
to try and get the outcome they would most prefer, a Tamil Eelam state. While
these faces of power seem to have been used effectively in some small isolated
occasions, in order for this seemingly never ending civil war to finally come to a
halt, one side is going to have to give a little more than they are right now. Until
either side uses a face of power more effectively in getting the other side to do what
they do not want, the civil war will quietly continue.

Plains Indians Demise
The Demise of the Plains Indians In chapters 16 and 17 we learned many things; a big
portion was about the natives. Focusing on their treatments that consequently lead to
their demise. As the white settlers moved in showing dominance, people could tell
changes were coming. There were many adjustments made by the Plains Indians, yet
they faced hardships such as, lack of supplies, adequate weapons, sicknesses, and

The whites had soon become a striking dominate force. Their knowledge and new

Cherokee Native American Indians and the Trail of Tears
What made the Cherokee culture distinctive towards others in the Trail of Tears time

Andrew Jackson who would eventually become the President of the United States,

They were walking mostly through moist valleys and forests which provided some

Some may wonder why the Cherokee did not fight for their land. Historians
suggest that the Cherokee knew America was a more powerful force. They were
also a peaceful tribe that didn t wish to start a war, so they instead chose to go and
find new land. Based on their belief system they valued peace, not violence. This
made the Cherokee distinctive to other tribes involved in the Trail of Tears, because
they peacefully left while the other tribes planned to fight until they realized they had
a small chance of winning a battle against Jackson and America. The Cherokee knew
that America was acting harsh and cruel towards them, but they didn t believe
strongly in acts of violence. The Cherokee would also communicate with Jackson
occasionally (not often at all) about their progress and health during their voyage.
After their long, treacherous voyage, they reached their new land where they had to
resettle, and had to start all over again.
When the Cherokee resettled, they were a different group with no leaders; everybody
became the same during their voyage to new settlement. The Cherokee then became

It Ain T Me, Babe Is A Creative And Imaginative Broad...
IT AIN T ME, BABE is a creative and imaginative broad comedy. The concept is fun
and a nice setup for comedy, conflict, and character change. The script is driven by
the theme of second chances.
There s definitely a lot to like about this script. On the other hand, there are also areas
that would benefit from more development.
First the script opens rather mildly. The idea that the music store is in jeopardy of
being taken over or closed down certainly is workable, but a bit outdated, meaning
this type of plot beat (being evicted etc.) has been used several times before.
Given that there s a theme about time perhaps the story should begin in Dave s past
showing the end of his career with his band. This could set up his inner conflict about
missing out on a more famous life versus being almost famous. Then the structure can
transition to the present day storyline of him working in the record shop.
It would also be nice to set up Dave as a man that regrets some of his life decisions
and wishes he could go back to the past and undo them. Right now, the scenes in the
opening and with Jane simply are not the most engaging. The characters feel a bit
immature and old fashioned.
On the other hand, the opening pages does foreshadow events with Amanda, Gary s
desire to be a manager, and the city undergoing new development in which the past
seems to be disappearing.
There s a solid and fun inciting event when Dave finds the old antique listening booth.

Printmaking is a work of art made up of ink on paper and existing in multiple
examples, moreover, a print is created through an indirect transfer process when the
artist starts by drawing a composition on another surface by placing a sheet of paper
in contact with the drawn surface and then is run through a printingpress. By doing a
work of art in this way is that numerous impressions can be made as new papers and
can be sent through the press in the same way. In this case, the artist should decide
how many to make and that total number of impressions is called an edition, which is
then signed by the artist. For the reason that there is more than one example, many

Sociological Speculation through Theory
A)Socialist feminism argues that both men and women may also believe that
economic and emotional dependence go hand in hand. Fearful of the loss of
economic security, a husband s power over his wife is absolute. An example of
this characteristic from the socialist branch can be seen in my own personal life.
When I was growing up, I experienced how my father would completely disregard
my mother and her duties serving the household and the family, as she was a stay
at home mom and my father worked and got paid for his labor. Her domestic work
was trivialized as my father felt that he was doing real work. Because of this, my
mother was quite submissive towards my father s behavior because she felt that
she needed him for financial security and that she could not be capable of anything
without him. B)Liberal feminists believe society does not have to be completely
restructured to achieve empowerment for women and to incorporate women into
meaningful and equitable roles. An example of this characteristic from the liberal
branch is seen in the political system in the United States. It is harder for women to
advance in politics due to the fact that it is a realm that has been dominated by men
for a long period of time. In today s day and age, we see more female politicians
coming to the forefront, and are dissolving the notion that politics only involves men
by showing that they too are knowledgeable and interested in the political processes.
This demonstrates liberal
Athletes Using Enhancement Drugs
Did you ever take banned substances to enhance your cycling performance? Lance
Armstrong, seven time Tour de France winner and cycling superstar responded, Yes (
Lance Armstrong and Oprah Winfrey ). Lance Armstrong is just one of many
professional athletes who doped to get ahead in sports. Armstrong s guilty verdict
exemplifies the efforts to punish athletes using performance enhancing drugs. The
increase in anti dopingefforts is evident.
In the middle of the 20th century, a troublesome problem arose in the sports world:
doping. In the 1960s, the first evidence that athletes were using performance
enhancing drugs surfaced (Catlin, Fitch, and Ljungqvist 104). Even though
significant evidence prevailed that athletes used the drugs to increase their athletic
performance, there was no way to detect drug use. People did not know what to
think of the problem, but when a cyclist died at the 1960 Olympic Games from
doping, sports organizations started to take action (Catlin, Fitch, and Ljungqvist 100).
Scientists went to work looking for a way to detect performance enhancing drugs in
athletes. It took several years before any reliable drug testing methods came about.
During the FГ©dГ©ration Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) World Cup
in 1966, the first drug test was performed (Hanstad, Smith, and Waddington 229). In
the following year, more sports organizations took a stance against drugs in sports.

Monsanto Chapter 1
I read chapter 8, Media and Technology , out of the sociology textbook. Section 1
talks about the tech we use in society. Technology has been which in our society
since the stone age. The knowledge gap, which is a gap between those who have and
don t have technology, is predominant within our society. Some people don t have the
access to new tech, due to financial troubles, race, gender, etc.
This in turn has created a digital divide , an uneven access to technological wonders.
Some of the digital divide can be explained by either demographic and community
level characteristics, or how technology has become more mobile. Net neutrality is
debated among people, some say that data should be private, or analyzed.
Section 2 deals with technology ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Technological development allows areas in advancement to be replicated, that s why
three types of patents exist to protect inventions and discoveries to be replicated or
stolen.
The first type is Utility Patents. This patent pertains to new processes, products or
machines. The second patent is a Design Patent. This protects original logos and
designs from being used by someone else. The third and last patent type is a Plant
Patent. This patent recognizes plants either by genetically modifications, discovering
exotic plants, and new hybrids of plants. Monsanto, a food company, created a new
type of corn with natural pesticides, which was patent in 2011.
There are a lot of different media and technologies. The first is print, which means
books, magazines, newspapers, and even e books. The second type is TV and
radio. Anything that is broadcasted by TV, or a radio show is classified under this
type. Back in the 1970s, ABC, NBC and CBS dominated television. Public TV
offers a non profit alternative to what we watch. PBS and BBC have a reputation
of having a more global perspective. Film is another type of media. The industry
took off in the 30s with the advent of sound and color. People would gather and
crowd theatres to watch the new releases. These movies illustrate society s fears,
dreams and experiences. The last type of media is New Media, which includes

The Power of T.S. Eliot s The Waste Land Essay
The Power of T.S. Eliot s The Waste Land
T. S. Eliot, perhaps one of the most controversial poets of modern
times, wrote what many critics consider the most controversial poem of all,
The Waste Land. The Waste Land was written using a fragmented style. This
is a style that is evident in all of Eliot s writings. There are several
reasons for his using this approach, from a feeling of being isolated, to a
problem articulating thoughts (Bergonzi 18, Cuddy 13, Mack 1745, Martin
102).
What influenced Eliot the most in writing poetry was a book he read
written by the English critic, Arthur Symon, titled The Symbolist Movement
in Literature. This book is about French symbolist ... Show more content on

When Eliot began to compose The WasteLand, he used all the
different themes, techniques, and style s he had been developing to this
point. The Waste Land is developed entirely using fragments and quotations.
This is symbolic of his despair in succeeding in ever fully articulating
meaning. Although it is fragmented, it also reveals moments of continuity
and wholeness quantified with recurrent themes of time, alienation,
isolation, and articulation. Because Eliot used fragmentation as his style
when writing this poem, it survived being cut in half by the editing of
Ezra Pound. Many author s argue that Ezra Pound could have edited many
more parts out, without effecting the meaning Eliot was trying to convey
(Bergonzi 11, Mack 1743, Martin 20 22, 110, Ricks 9, Unger 18).
T. S. Eliot s use of estrangement in poems is his way of expressing
feelings between himself and the world. His inability to give himself to,
or to possess others is an example of the greater problem of isolation.
The isolation theme is prevalent throughout the Waste Land, with many of
his characters entwined. This is probably related to his problem of
articulating. Whatever his reason for using isolation it caused him to

History of Biblical Angels
History of Biblical Angels Throughout history, you will find many religions discuss
angels. But what is an angel? Is it a mythical creature with wings sent to protect
you? Some may think so; others have different thoughts on the matter. But when
did talk of angels first occur? Have they always been around? In this paper, I will
attempt to define what an angel is and what they do. I will also discuss how angels
differ between religions, as well as try to pinpoint the origin of angels. I will
explain the similarities and differences between these religions and their ideas of
angels. The term angel is derived from the Greek word angelos , meaning
messenger. This word represents an earlier Hebrew word, mal akh that is also
interpreted as the role of messenger or minister. It is safe to say that many people
will regard angels as messengers between Heaven and earth. In many biblical stories,
angels are sending messages. Some messages are announcements of birth like the
ones that were sent to Abraham and to Samson s father. Other messages encourage
actions as the ones did to Elijah and David. In these cases, angels were bringing
messages from the divine world, or Heaven, to men and women in the earthly human
world. It is believed that the messages with angels also work in the reversed sense as
well; meaning from human being to angel to God. It is said that the soul speaks to the
angel, the angel to the cherub, the cherub to God. This type of communication would
explain the
Management Principles Of Public And Nonprofit
Organizations
This semester we had the opportunity to explore management principles in public and
nonprofit organizations. We learned a range of concepts, theories, models and
techniques related to organizational and management theory, supervision,
communication, ethics, and a multitude of perspectives within organizations and
society. The concepts that were stressed by Lee G. Bolman Terrence E. Deal (2013)
in Reframing Organization was the structural, human resource, political and symbolic
aspects of organizational behavior. (Bolman Deal 2013). Exploring these
organizational structures have made me evaluate my own organization and I want to
present in my paper some of the concepts that we learned this semester and relate
them to my experiences I... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This case ultimately set the precedent of how the IDJJ facilities would operate
under the Consent Decree. There were six IYC facilities IYC Chicago, Harrisburg,
Kewanee, Pere Marquette, St. Charles, and Warrenville. In 2016, IYC Kewanee
faced a closure. The state recently closed the facility in 2016 in hopes to save
money. Now there are only five IYC juvenile facilities operating under direct
supervision of Illinois Department of Juvenile Justice. The Illinois Department of
Juvenile Justice have been operating for almost eleven years. With IDJJ being a new
department, it is established, but there are still some management and organizational
issues that are still present within this organization. In prior post, I stated that my
organization runs similarly to Henry Mintzberg s five parts of an organization known
as the Mintzberg s five: the operating core, the strategic apex, the middle line, the
technostructure, and the support staff. The operating core represents workers who
are on the frontline and are responsible for producing the organization s services and
goods. The strategic apex is the organization s executive leadership that ensures that
operation is running smoothly and is in accordance with policy, procedure, and
organizational strategy. The middle line represents middle management. These
workers are responsible for supervising staff while taking instruction from the
strategic apex. The technostructure is responsible for training, work procedures,

Childhood Somatization Essay
Somatization is the manifestation of psychological distress as physical symptoms
such as headaches, stomachaches, body aches, dizziness, and fatigue (Mai, 2004;
Taylor, Szatmari, Boyle, Offord, 1996). These somatic complaints generally cannot
be traced to any diagnosable medical conditions, however they are not fictitious and
may be explained by biological mechanisms involved in the stress response as well as
by changes in individuals perception of pain (Garber, Walker, Zeman, 1991; Mai,
2004; Rief, Hennings, Riemer, Euteneuer, 2010). Somatic disorders account for more
productivity loss, unemployment, and healthcare usage than any other psychiatric
disorder, indicating the need for further research into its many predictors and causes
(Mai, 2004; Poikolainen, Aalto Setala, Marttunen, Tuulio Henricksson, Lonnqvist,
2000; Rief Auer, 2000). Among... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Somatic symptom disorders among children are especially common in low
socioeconomic status (SES) communities, non White ethnicities, and victims of
childhood trauma or victimization, (Bailey, 2005; Reynolds, O Koon, Papademetriou,
Szczygiel, Grant, 2001; White Farrell, 2006), though there may be important
differences in the types of symptoms reported by different racial and ethnic groups
(Kingery, Ginsburg, Alfano, 2007). For example, Rhee (2003) notes that rates of
headache, body ache, and dizziness are higher in Caucasian populations, whereas
urinary dysfunction, cold sweat, overheating, and chest pain are more common
among African Americans. Rhee (2005) proposes that the ethnic disparity associated
with these symptoms can, at least in part, be attributed to lower SES and higher rates
of depressive symptoms among racial minorities, whereas, other symptoms may
occur regardless of SES or comorbid
Goth Subculture Research Paper
The Gothic culture is a subculture that can found throughout the world. This
subculture began in the early 1980s in England. Two Gothic bands that are an
outcome of the post punk genre are Bauhaus and Siouxsie and the Banshees, and
these bands have influenced Gothic bands today like A Day To Remember. The Goth

The Raven continues answering with only Nevermore. Because of this, the poor
speaker begins to lose his sanity.
The Goth subculture has impacted many different types of artists. Typically, their
work is based on otherworldly, gruesome, and romantic abstractions. Sexual and
promiscuous artwork that romanticize the supernatural are seen in painting
andphotography. In their work, one can see a preference for dark colors and
feelings. We see this type of work especially in a multitude of television programs
and movies. In the 60s, television aired shows like The Addams Family. The
Addams Family utilizes dark clothing and dark makeup for Gothic looks. It also
uses violence as a source of comedy. These shows utilized Gothic derived
stereotypes for amusement and humor. Horror movies and their soundtracks were a
source of inspiration for many Gothic artists. The vampire based movie, The
Hunger, marked the relationship between Goth and horror. This movie features the
classic Gothic rock group Bauhaus. Recently, Tim Burton, a director, has created a
storybook aura in his movies. This atmosphere he has created is filled with darkness
and a Gothic feel in his movies such as: The Nightmare Before Christmas, Edward
Scissorhands, Beetlejuice, and a remake of Alice in Wonderland. In

One of the primary challenges lies in maintaining objectivity amid the emotionally charged nature of the topic. It requires a careful selection of language to avoid unintentional bias and to present a fair and comprehensive view of the different perspectives surrounding abortion. Striking this balance is crucial to fostering a constructive dialogue rather than perpetuating a polarized debate. Moreover, conducting thorough research is essential to provide a well-informed foundation for the essay. The multifaceted nature of abortion involves medical, legal, social, and ethical aspects, requiring a deep dive into each realm to present a nuanced analysis. Navigating through the plethora of studies, court cases, and societal viewpoints can be daunting, necessitating a critical evaluation of sources to ensure credibility and reliability. As the story unfolds there are some incredible discoveries made about what makes a good man and the sometimes seemingly impossible process in which one is formed. It s a story of life, death, struggle, crushed hearts, success and love for all to enjoy! Brace yourself for an emotional rollercoaster ride driven by personally invested interest. Share his story to help others; this is his most grand desire. A single life changed for the better is one of his greatest rewards. Many people would not consider their lives interesting enough to capture and hold an audience s interest. I chose to write about this man because I don t think he has led a boring life by any definition of the words. Where he had initially failed to see the value of its content and did not see the incredible challenges he has overcome to build the man he is today, I have discovered otherwise. Any story of a person going above and beyond with self sacrifice at the highest of levels is worth writing about in my opinion. Even when facing the toughest of obstacles, the love for humanity in this man s heart cannot be

Advice to First Writing Course at the University of Central Florida Writing courses can be challenging and that is why I decided to write this personal narrative. I believe that a personal narrative is better for an advice column than a research paper. A personal narrative would give more personal experience and insight on how the course was. It would be more valid since it is true. I think people learn better when they read and hear something from the person they are talking to rather than being about other people, especially when it comes to advice. Students should also learn to adapt to different writing contexts. Throughout this course, I had to learn new vocabulary such as rhetorical situation and discourse community. These are actually types of essays I had to write during this course. When writing these types of essays, one has to keep in mind their audiences and their own experience. Lastly, students will consider how social, rhetorical, and technological contexts shape writing because it reflects sensitivity to school writing as a social affair (McCarthy 231). There are some constraints that I had to think about when deciding the genre of this paper. One constraint to this personal narrative is the time I took this course. I took ENC 1101 during the Summer B section. Summer B was only six weeks long and I had to learn the concepts of this course in that amount of time when it usually takes around sixteen weeks. This made the course much harder for me and other students. Especially because English is my second language, it takes me longer to read and analyze articles. This was also one out of two of my first classes as a college students. It is a different environment and I had to adapt to different situations and expectations. Another constraint is about those students that already have credit for ENC

Both Orwell s 1984 and Huxley s Brave New World embody how history can be altered to fit an illusionist dystopian society. Within their fractured worlds both writers have created non conformist characters; arguably to emphasise and bring contrast to the distorted worlds of Big Brother and Huxley s vision of innovative London. Orwell s Winston doesn t initially have any erotic urges within his dream of a naked woman. But is unable to vocalise the way he perceived his dream. So reverts to using the word Shakespeare. But through my research, I ve found many different possible careers that my degree could get me. There were dozens ranging from jobs that required an associate s degree in accounting, all the way to careers that required a master s degree in accounting, as well as certificates that closely relate to them, and they paid anywhere from $30,000 to over $100,000. To be completely honest, there were times when I wondered why companies need an entire different division for accounting, but after seeing just how many different jobs there were in the field, things started to make a bit more sense. The first career from... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The biggest reason that these caught my attention was the fact that what we had been covering as just a single account had an entire career dedicated to it. I guess after just listing accounts payable as a single liability I forgot that multiple debts make up that account. It also just occurred to me that if a company would hire a person just to cover a single account, these accounts must not be stationary very often. For a career to require a person to come to work every day, each account must increase and/or decrease every day, and some days multiple times. After that realization, I realized just how easy it must be to make a single mistake, and just how easily a single mistake on one account that one person was responsible for could affect the entire company. Accounting, just like any other job that I have worked, requires a team. And everyone on that team must hold up their end, or else the consequences will be catastrophic. In the same way that a single miscommunication can ruin a transaction at a fast food restaurant, a single miscommunication could ruin a company s financial statements. It shows just how much attention to detail is required for a job in accounting. The next job that I noticed was the FBI Agent specializing in accounting. I feel as though I don t even need to explain why this one caught my eye. I mean, even if you don t intend to read it, you always

There have been many changes in how an airline runs, some temporary and some everlasting. New advancements in machines for checking bags and people has sky rocketed. For example metal detectors, X Rays and trace portal machines, all which check the human body for hidden metal and traces of bomb making material. There have also been added safety rules to create stricter guidelines on passenger and luggage screening, only passengers with tickets could go through security and travelers must remove shoes (Villemez 1). Pilots now also must worry about extremists potentially hijacking the plane. There have been previous plane hijackings in the
  • 8. Seamus Heaney Seamus Heaney s Background and Poetry Seamus Heaney had a Roman Catholic upbringing in a rural area of Northern Ireland. How does his poetry reflect his background? Heaney s poetry is able to reflect his background by his use of language and the technique he expresses his experiences. I will cover his background into three sections: his childhood, the community and his reflections. I will start by looking at his feelings and experiences in the poem Death of a Naturalist . The poet remembers the time when he was a young child. He saw the reality of what frogs were really like in the outdoors compared to what was taught in school. In school, the frogs are described like a typical teacher talking to young pupils. It is very... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The finish illustrated how he feared for what was in the pond. He delivers his message very effectively. He says an unequivocal word in the sentence; and I knew that if I dipped my hand the spawn would clutch it. He knew that it would clutch his hand showing how positive and definite he was feeling. The experience had so much impact on Heaney altering his emotions before the incident occurred. The title is very striking and ironic. The definition of a naturalist is someone who is an expert in natural history. Heaney was learning nature from direct observation but this stopped him from ever becoming a naturalist due to the fact that he found it a nightmare. Hence the word Death The poem is done with unrhymed iambic pentameter lines. The use of onomatopoeia is very frequent such as: slap and plop , farting and gargled . The continuous, repulsive words help bring the poem to life and show how terrifying his experience was. E.g. rotted , festered , slobber and slime kings . In the first section, the poet shows that he has a scientific interest. This is shown by the way he uses the technical names to call the frogs e.g. bullfrog and frogspawn rather than the patronizing words daddy and mammy from the teacher. The second section is like vengeance and a punishment in the eyes of the young poet. Heaney possibly never got past the simple idea that the frogs were not just mammy or daddy frogs. The

This is an important topic because college cost has been a problem for many individuals for decades and it still is. College cost is something that shapes people s lives and it worries them because collegecost is what determines if they re going to continue going to college. It s something that people should take lightly because college is pretty expensive. According to the advocacy group complete college America, it cost 63,718 for one extra year to attend college. For students who take longer to finish schoolbecause of certain requisites, it becomes a toll because of the cost. According to Norton Field Guide to writing by Richard Bullock and Maureen Daly Goggin found a report on Los Angeles bases campaigns for college opportunity, saying students who attend school 6 years instead of 4 years will lose 110,900 dollars in their lifetime. • 16. The Dichotomy Of Religion In Yann Martel s Pi As I mature into a young adult, my thoughts and feelings about certain topics have changed. One of those topics is religion. I started out as a very devout Christian when I was younger, but as I got older I began to disagree with a lot of the things I followed. Over time, I stopped liking Christianity altogether and only believed that people followed it because it gave them a higher moral ground above everyone else. However, Yann Martel s novel gave me the epiphany that religionmeant so much more than this. For example, in the novel, Pi drifts upon an island with the tiger, Richard Parker. Richard Parker goes to do his own thing while Pi eats the algae and is overwhelmed with euphoria (as he had been on the sea for quite some time). He doesn t stop to think about how everything worked on the island and just took in everything it had to offer. This symbolizes how some followers of religion don t think logically about how life works or even about their own religion and go with it. In my case, for Christianity, I realized why so many people didn t stop to think about why some illogical things happened in the Bible. They simply don t care and are happy with what Christianity had to offer. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Here, I realized why some Christians are not afraid of death or why Christians tend to live happy lives. They aren t afraid of death because if they are morally right in life, such as not doing drugs or following the Golden Rule , then they will get a wonderful afterlife. Although Christianity is not a perfect religion, it causes people to lead happy and/or peaceful lives without even realizing
  • 17. Different Methods, Bacteria, And Development Transduction,... Through three different methods, bacteria can obtain new genetic material: conjugation, transduction and transformation Transduction is when a bacteriophage inserts it s DNA into the host bacteria cell, while conjugation is when the bacteria shares DNA through direct contact, eg. horizontal gene transfer. The third method, transformation, is the intake of external DNA into the cell (Chen and Dubnau, 2004). In order for bacteriato be able to take in extraneous DNA, they must first be in a state of competent (Hanahan, 1983). There are two types of transformation cells in transformation: natural competence and artificial competence. Natural transformation can occur in both gram negative and gram positive bacteria, but have different pathways to take in the new DNA. There are several ways to induce competence onto some bacteria cells, that are not naturally competence. Cells can be treated to heat shock, starved of nutrients, the use of electroporation or keep in ionic solutions to induce competence by increasing the permeability of the membrane (Van der Rest et al., 1999). Plasmids are circular double stranded DNA found in bacteria that can encode for basic necessary functions (Couturier, et al., 1988). • 19. Presidential Election Of George Washington In the 240 years since declaring independence from Great Britain, America has seen 44 presidents, many of whom have served multiple terms in office. Each of these presidential hopefuls has employed a marketing campaign to earn the support of voters across the country, and the strategies used have given politics an infamous reputation. From their humble beginnings during the George Washington era to their infamy in modern elections, political advertisements have undergone extensive changes. Although advertisements were originally positive messages intended to gather support, they have recently taken a negative turn. These negative ads often defame other candidates, attacking their credibility and qualifications for the presidency. Demand from radical supporters and technological advancements are to blame for this change, causing political advertising to transform into harsh attacks, as well as strategized marketing ploys aimed to win the support of voters. During the first presidential electionof George Washington there was no need for political advertising, as Washington ran unopposed. After leading the United States to victory in the Revolutionary War, he did not need to convince anyone of his ability to lead the young nation. While the speaker on stage bellows his gospel of forgiveness, some students halfheartedly nod along, some stare at their shoes, and some snore. Looking around the chapel from my seat in the back row, I am overwhelmed with one impression: apathy. This mood that hung in the room was pervasive, making me feel uncomfortable because I realized that I felt it too. While I usually enjoy learningfor its own sake, apathy has not escaped me. Not only does this mindset manifest in my school s chapel services, but also in the classroom. When students do not care about learning, they either put in the least amount of effort possible or resort to rote memorization to maintain their grade. Instead of understanding the material, they glean little knowledge that they can apply to their lives, making educationrelatively pointless. This thoughtlessness maddens me because I want to be purposeful in everything that I do. During my junior year of high school, apathetic students and teachers led me to rediscover the power I have over my own education. In my physics class, I was miserable: I did not learn I memorized. • 35. Sociological Speculation through Theory A)Socialist feminism argues that both men and women may also believe that economic and emotional dependence go hand in hand. Fearful of the loss of economic security, a husband s power over his wife is absolute. An example of this characteristic from the socialist branch can be seen in my own personal life. When I was growing up, I experienced how my father would completely disregard my mother and her duties serving the household and the family, as she was a stay at home mom and my father worked and got paid for his labor. Her domestic work was trivialized as my father felt that he was doing real work. Because of this, my mother was quite submissive towards my father s behavior because she felt that she needed him for financial security and that she could not be capable of anything without him. B)Liberal feminists believe society does not have to be completely restructured to achieve empowerment for women and to incorporate women into meaningful and equitable roles. An example of this characteristic from the liberal branch is seen in the political system in the United States. It is harder for women to advance in politics due to the fact that it is a realm that has been dominated by men for a long period of time. In today s day and age, we see more female politicians coming to the forefront, and are dissolving the notion that politics only involves men by showing that they too are knowledgeable and interested in the political processes. The Waste Land was written using a fragmented style. This is a style that is evident in all of Eliot s writings. There are several reasons for his using this approach, from a feeling of being isolated, to a problem articulating thoughts (Bergonzi 18, Cuddy 13, Mack 1745, Martin 102). The Waste Land is developed entirely using fragments and quotations. This is symbolic of his despair in succeeding in ever fully articulating meaning. Although it is fragmented, it also reveals moments of continuity and wholeness quantified with recurrent themes of time, alienation, isolation, and articulation. Because Eliot used fragmentation as his style when writing this poem, it survived being cut in half by the editing of Ezra Pound. Many author s argue that Ezra Pound could have edited many more parts out, without effecting the meaning Eliot was trying to convey (Bergonzi 11, Mack 1743, Martin 20 22, 110, Ricks 9, Unger 18).

Is it a mythical creature with wings sent to protect you? Some may think so; others have different thoughts on the matter. But when did talk of angels first occur? Have they always been around? In this paper, I will attempt to define what an angel is and what they do. I will also discuss how angels differ between religions, as well as try to pinpoint the origin of angels. I will explain the similarities and differences between these religions and their ideas of angels. The term angel is derived from the Greek word angelos , meaning messenger. This word represents an earlier Hebrew word, mal akh that is also interpreted as the role of messenger or minister. It is safe to say that many people will regard angels as messengers between Heaven and earth. In many biblical stories, angels are sending messages. Some messages are announcements of birth like the ones that were sent to Abraham and to Samson s father. Other messages encourage actions as the ones did to Elijah and David. In these cases, angels were bringing messages from the divine world, or Heaven, to men and women in the earthly human world. It is believed that the messages with angels also work in the reversed sense as well; meaning from human being to angel to God. It is said that the soul speaks to the angel, the angel to the cherub, the cherub to God. This type of communication would explain the
