International Adoption Should Not Be A Viable Adoption Source
The image of an American family changed dramatically over the last fifty years. American families
are no longer modeled after the Cleavers. International adoption has contributed to this changing
family view, bringing in children who are not biologically related to their parents and often of a
different race. This new American image has helped to reduce race related issues. Children are the
future of a country. If a country is losing their children to international adoption; the county is losing
the gifts and talents that are irreplaceable in those children. Intercountry adoption should not be a
viable adoption source because this process does not adequately benefit those involved, international
adoption exploits poor children and hurts their countries of origin. International adoption takes
children out of their countries, and this can lead to the risk of alienating the children. Parents that
adopt foreign children may be ill equipped or uneducated in their adopted child s culture and this can
steer the loss of the child s cultural identity. Culturally, we pass on our values and beliefs through our
family structure; our heritage is part of our identity. People who are raised in another country could
miss out on learning about their ethnic heritage. Medical writer Meg Brannagan claims internationally
adopted child s question where their place is in a racially diverse family. Brannagan also explains
internationally adopted adults raised in the United States

Narcissism Research Papers
Narcissism is the complete lack of empathy for others as well as over glorified self esteem. This belief
leads to a decrease in the amount of relationships because narcissists hold themselves on such a high
pedestal. The history of this cautionary trait has come from the self esteem movement which started to
help the depression of people about their bodies, lives, and jobs. Creating this movement started out
well; however, the extremists took it to a whole new level. So what once was a positive now became a
negative because people only care for themselves. The characteristic of narcissism is found in
Millennials more today than ever before. Through relationships, jobs, and views on entitlements,
narcissism can be seen as leading Millennial ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
...we are now a society in which more than 4 in 10 children are born out of wedlock, and in which a
teenager has less chance of being raised by both biological parents... (Taylor 54). Narcissists are
incapable of long term relationships, and the fact that families are now also having holes, shows that
the narcissism level is increasing. A lot of times, children are being raised by their grandparents or one
biological parent and a step parent. This is due to the narcissist s need of a trophy significant other
who helps them to feel good. When a significant other starts to slack off with the praise or doesn t fit
what the other person wants, they leave. Much of narcissists behavior in relationships is game playing
, (Twenge 215). This behavior is the use of a person to satisfy another s wants or needs until they don t
work for the person anymore.
Millennial America is changing from narcissism and allowing this characteristic to run the decisions
people make. In The Next America, the author states the decision making world perfectly, How
Americans respond in their public choices as well as their private behaviors will go a long way toward
determining whether the generations spend the coming decades at war or in harmony (Taylor 55). The
quote should spark some interest into what your decisions will affect and how the world will be
different depending on what you choose. So choose

Compare and Contrast of the Classical School of Management...
Compare and contrast of the classical school of management and the human relations school of
management
The classical or traditional approach to management was generally concerned with the structure and
the activities of formal organization. The utmost importance in the achievement of an effective
organization were seen to be the issues such as the establishment of a hierarchy of authority, the
division of work, and the span of control.
The classical management focuses on the efficiency and includes scientific, bureaucratic and
administrative management.
The scientific approach required several major principles in its application to management: 1st

Offices are highly specialized. Appointments to these offices are made according to specialized
qualifications rather than ascribed criteria. All of these ideal characteristics have one goal, to promote
the efficient attainment of the organization s goals.
Some have seriously misinterpreted Weber and have claimed that he liked bureaucracy, that he
believed that bureaucracy was an ideal organization. Others have pronounced Weber wrong because
bureaucracies do not live up to his list of ideals . Others have even claimed that Weber invented
bureaucratic organization. But Weber described bureaucracy as an ideal type in order to more
accurately describes their growth in power and scope in the modern world. His studies of bureaucracy
still form the core of organizational sociology.
Weber s discussion of authority relations also provides insight into what is happening in the modern
world. Weber distinguished three main types of authority: Traditional authority, Rational legal
authority and Charismatic authority.
Administrative management is a style of management that focuses on principles to be used by
managers to co ordinate the internal activities of the total organization. This theory was developed by
Henri Fayol (1841 1925) to be taught to individuals with administrative responsibilities, which lead to
the five major functions of managerial activities, planning, organizing, commanding,

The Business Issues Of Roy And Jones Inc.
As an eminent trading and investment consulting firm, it is of no surprise to find some controversies
within Roy and Jones Inc. There will always be matters to be spoken about or to be argued about
whether it is in terms of its business principles, stockholders and recently, the one issue that has come
to light, is regarding its employment policies. Various people began to open up an unofficial debate
stage to discuss about this issue when words such as sexism and biasedness came to the air. In this
essay, I will elaborate more on the problems faced by Roy and Jones Inc. and what can be done to
overcome the problems. One of the problems faced by Roy and Jones Inc. is that they tend to avoid
promoting their female executives for senior positions when opportunities arise in their offices abroad.
This is indirectly saying that males are the one who should be promoted for the higher positions. The

How Does Earthquake Affect The Earthquake
Task Two: Earthquakes and Buildings
The type of buildings that were the most damaged in the 2011 Christchurch earthquake.
In the 6.3 magnitude Christchurch earthquake that occurred at 12.51pm on the 22nd of February 2011,
the types of buildings that were the most damaged were houses and commercial buildings that were
built in the 19th and early 20th century. The majority of these buildings that were damaged were ones
that relied on single or double brick for their structure. This relates to how the bricks are placed on the
house and whether there are two layers or one layer of brick. Buildings made of bricks and stones
were damaged because they can t move with the earth and most of the bricks crack and fall off making
the structure a lot less stable and more likely to collapse in an aftershock.
Brick chimneys on the old wooden houses fell over and crashed through the roofs and caused a lot of
damage. Stone buildings such as the Old Stone House were also badly damaged and had to be closed
following the February 2011 earthquake. The most structural damage mainly occurred in houses that
were made of heavy materials such as stones, bricks or concrete. This is because it is harder for these
building materials to withstand strong shaking and to support their own weight when they begin to
lose shape. They can t bounce back as easy once they have been forced in the other direction. This
forces the buildings to fall outwards or collapse.
A lot of damage occurred in houses and

Time Amendment Pros And Cons Essay
Time limits are a big piece to the puzzle that is the failure of the ERA. It is not very common to find
time restrictions on proposed amendments. Amending the constitution is already a long and strenuous
task to put in motion, and when one is forced to work twice as quickly because of a deadline, the
process gets even more taxing. If an amendment is going to have a deadline, it will usually be a seven
year deadline (Palmer). The inequality that are constitutional deadlines are a major problem in the
ratification process. Deadlines are only placed on amendments to try and guarantee failure of the
amendment. Often times when a time restriction is placed upon a proposed amendment, it is a gift to
the people backing the amendment, letting them know that the people putting a deadline onto the
amendment are fully opposed to their idea (Kops). The problem with time limits are that if gives states
time to run out the window for voting on the amendment. If a proposed amendment, such as the ERA,
has to do with an issue that could cause public uproar, a time amendment can allow states to simply
not vote on the amendment, neither supporting, nor opposing the amendment. The ... Show more

supportive of the overpowerment of the federal government by the states ( States Rights ). A state
would do this to discriminate against a certain group of people like women. States Rights groups first
emerged primarily around Civil War times. It was an effort mainly established by southerners to try
and undo the proposal of abolishing slavery ( States Rights ). These groups were also against the
Nineteenth Amendment and, before it got into the Constitution, would ban women from voting. When
the ERA was proposed, states rights groups were very outspoken about the issue and made it clear that
they were not going to accept this as an

The Effects Of Caffeine On Oxidative Stress
In the present study, the MDA level was measured as an index of lipid peroxidation in order to observe
the effect of caffeine on the oxidative stress induced by AlCl3 in cortex, hippocampus and striatum
brain areas. Brain tissues are more vulnerable to oxidative stress other than tissues for many reasons
such as high oxygen consumption (more than 20% of the total inspired oxygen), the presence of
abundant amount of polyunsaturated fatty acids which are susceptible to free radicals attack, low
antioxidant levels, high iron content in addition to the non regenerative nature of neurons (Nehru and
Anand, 2005; Kim et al., 2015). All these reasons may explain why brain is more susceptible to
aluminum toxicity than other organs. In the present ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The present results showed that daily protection with caffeine attenuated the increase in MDA levels
in AlCl3 intoxicated rats. Supporting the present finding, previous studies have revealed the
antioxidant potential of caffeine against lipid peroxidation in various animal models of neurologic
diseases, including Alzheimer s disease (Prasanthi et al., 2010), epilepsy (Souza et al., 2013) and
Parkinson s disease (Khadrawy et al., 2017). It has been demonstrated that caffeine has the ability to
scavenge reactive oxygen species (Devasagayam et al., 1996) and modulated the brain antioxidant
system through increasing the content of GSH and activities of antioxidant enzymes like glutathione
reductase and superoxide dismutase (Abreu et al., 2011). Generally, the antioxidant capacity of
caffeine was similar to that of the established biological antioxidant GSH and significantly higher than
ascorbic acid (Devasagayam et al., 1996). Accordingly, this may explain the ability of caffeine to
attenuate lipid peroxidation induced by AlCl3 in the current study via direct scavenging of reactive
oxygen species or by increasing GSH content and antioxidant enzymes activities.
The present data revealed that daily oral administration of AlCl3 resulted in a significant increase in
NO levels in the cortex, hippocampus and striatum. NO is the smallest signalling molecule within

The Influence of Eastman Kodak Company on Photography Essay
It is considered that photography only became widely available to the public when the Kodak Eastman
Company introduced the box shaped Brownie Camera in 1900. (Baker, n.p.) Its features became more
refined since its original placing on the market; one of the reasons why it has become considered the
birth of public photography is because of the processing. Using a similar image capture system, the
brownie exposed the light to a 120mm roll of film, which could be wound round, meaning six
photographs could be taken before the slides needed removing. The first Brownie used a six exposure
cartridge that Kodak processed for the photographer. (Kodak.com, n.d.) Realistically, the armature

(Bellis, 2009) Nevertheless, the main selling point of digital cameras was the convenient way that they
could be stored. Every exposure is almost instantly saved to a removable disk drive, which remarkably
expired the use of darkroom processing. It was convenient, less time was needed to produce an image,
making it particularly appealing to journalism. The photograph has since then become an instant
process. Combined with the invention of the Internet, and booming industry of personal computers,
the newer technology would expire its predecessor. There are billions of photographs on the Internet,
comprising the largest most diverse photo collection ever assembled. We have access to imagery from
all over the world, using key words and hash tags to catalogue imagery and content; we can see what
is happening without being there. The introduction of digital photography has enabled photographers
to record terabits of imagery which can be stored in minute places, meaning the coverage that we have
of the modern world is greater than ever. Unlike the formats that Henri Cartier Bresson used, where
each roll of film, or negative slide needed storing in a large physical place, under controlled
conditions, an archive of objects. Automation came with digital photography, its combination of
digital components allowed the camera to automatically detect light qualities, and

stereotypes that student athletes are dumb, lazy, and privileged. It s understandable that people believe
these stereotypes, news magazines and reports are always talking about how athletes are coddled and

few situations encourage this negative categorization of us, thus putting student athletes under even
more pressure to perform. Student athletes are constantly misjudged and the assumptions are affecting

Trading Eligible Emissions Units in the Carbon Market
Trading Eligible Emissions Units in the Carbon Market
Starting from the Kyoto protocol and culminating in the 2011 Durban agreement, world leaders have
put into motion, a coordinated effort to save the world through concerted actions by their countries to
reduce the carbon emissions. The reason for this agreement was the perspective that the world will not
survive at the rate of the present emissions. Hence, the World Congress is has no option but to act
strongly on these lines. The Kyoto protocol has extracted promises from the member nations about the
extent to which they will guarantee to reduce carbon emissions by the year 2020. The experts are
continuously calculating the impact of global warming on diverse situations in life, while the
businessmen are calculating how it will impact their strategies for the future (Alen, D.S., 2012).
In this combined endeavor to address the problem of global warming, there is now this effort to invest
strongly on the green energy sources from the sun and the wind, etc., that can safely replace the
conventional source of power, without the exploitation of the carbon product, and thereby, reduce the
carbon emissions greatly. On the other hand, carbon footprints are also enhanced greatly by the
concerted effort of the member countries to increase their forests and agricultural areas. From this was
born carbon credit (Alen, D.S., 2012).

Syphilis Sexually Transmitted Disease
Syphilis is caused by a bacterium called Treponema pallidum, which is known to be a subspecies of
the pallidum. This bacterium is very thin and has a corkscrew shape. It is classified as the family of a
spirochete. According to Lori, Edmund, and Tramont in an article tittled Treponema Pallidum
(Syphilis) It is a member of the family Spirochaeticea and is related to other spirochete genera which
have the capacity to infect man, namely Borrelia and Leptospira. The length is about 6 20 μm and has
a diameter of about 0.25 μm. The thin shape and it s motility aids the bacterium in the penetration of it
s host mucous membrane or where there is lession on the surface of the skin. This bacterium
reproduce rapidly in great numbers as soon as it creates the chancre in the host. With this it multiplies
and spread aiming for the lymph nodes in the host body.
Syphilis is a sexually transmitted disease, which the symptoms mimic other diseases. According to the
center for disease control and prevention it has been called the great imitator because it has so many

but not in the governments, limiting the UK and many other EU countries governmental authority,
binding them strictly to the rules of the TTIP. ISDS works like a global legal straightjacket that makes
it very, very difficult and expensive for governments to regulate corporations ... It is dangerous for
democracy, claims Pia Eberhardt, of Corporate Europe Observatory (CEO), a Brussels based
campaign group. As a result, the UK government may neglect the rights of workers and domestic
organisations in order to avoid conflict with multinational US corporations; stealthily, the neoliberal
theory underhandedly infiltrating through.
This neo liberal approach of a reduction in the governments authority could threaten organisations
such as the NHS, privatizing the public service to American Investors, the ISDS compensation rules

The Power Of Stereotyping
The Power of Stereotypes
Throughout our American society, there have been topics, or more specifically, issues, that have been
implemented in our lives. Whether it be poverty, economic issues, equality, and thus forth, there is one
what has always been around for centuries, but has made a bigger impact is stereotyping. This in
particular topic has lead to a multitude of problems, such as social categorization, and the cause of
prejudice. The stereotyping propaganda in the United States has caused more problems and attracted
more attention than is truly needed. Stereotyping has been a normal occurrence since human beings
have been able to do so to others, as tragic as that is. Although it has been through our history, nothing
from the past can possibly compare to the amount of stereotyping going on in our world in the modern
day, and how much it impacts us and others around us. Robert L. Heilbroner says it best in his article
DON T LET STEREOTYPES WARP YOUR JUDGMENT (citation) Stereotypes are a kind of gossip
about the world, a gossip that makes us prejudge people before we ever lay eyes on them. Hence it is
not surprising that stereotypes have something to do with the dark world of prejudice (Heilbroner
Pg.19 number 5). He then goes on to say that Once we have typecast the world we tend to see people
in terms of our standardized pictures. He then goes on explaining about a demonstration he performed
with a number of Columbia and Barnard students, showing

Strategic Review of Australian Department Store David Jones
David Jones Limited (DJS) is an Australian retailer tracing its origins back to 1838 when it first
opened in Sydney to sell the best and most exclusive goods (DJS, 31 Oct. 2009). It has since expanded

strategic alliance with American Express (AMEX), DJS launched the David Jones American Express

The Holocaust And The Nazi Regime During World War II Essay
Introduction
The Second World War is seen by the modern world to be the most famous war that shaped the
communities of the world today, but for the Jewish community in Europe at the time this was the war
to fight for their own existence. The Holocaust was the systematic extinction of six million Jews by
the Nazi regime during World War 2. Of the millions of Jewish people that lost their lives there were
many that did resist and did escape the Nazism and Nazi racial policy that was conducted on the
Jewish lives throughout the war. There were different ways the Jews did resist through different
dimensions of wellbeing, through uprising in the ghettos and camps in a stretch to revolting against
their German captivators whilst secretly keeping their spiritual and religious beliefs as something that
the Nazis could never physically take from them. The Jews showed resistance to German control also
by escaping the camps, and creating Armies and Partisan Groups to fight back. In the findings I was
able to establish an understanding of the different ways during the war the Jews managed to create
upheaval and resist German authority and the fact that a percentage were able to resist.
Uprising in the Ghetto
During World War II eastern Europe was vastly controlled and occupied by Nazi forces in the bid of
control for the German army to win the war. In a bid to win the war, Germany captured and forced
Jewish inhabitants in Eastern Europe at the time and sent away either to

Ethnic Market Analysis
The ethnic market I visited was a local Middle Eastern market called Tehran Market. I expected to
find a mixture of American and Middle Eastern brands of food but mostly American brands. When I
first stepped into the store I quickly realized that I was wrong, the store was the opposite of what I
originally thought. The market provided mostly Middle Eastern brands of food. I loved walking
around the store and discovering foods I wouldn t normally see at my local markets. I was so
interested in all of the products they had available that I not only returned to Tehran Market but also
purchased a number of new items. The items I ve purchased were a variety of fresh produce that they
had available, such as: tomatoes, cucumber, onions, lettuce, and

Evolution Of Criminal Vs Invicus
The documentary The Evolution of a Criminal by filmmaker Darius Clark Monroe and the poem
Invictus by William Ernest Henley correlate with each other. The themes are conveyed through certain
elements of speech, and that is pushing forward and not letting the past make your future, despite the
impenetrable disincentives. Both the document and the poem are both empowering, and connects the
reader to the documents. These relate to an audience that must overcome any type of hardship in life.
Both have great significances that are timeless and can be relevant to present and future days. With the
use of metaphors and foreshadowing, both arts revolve around conquering the challenges one faces
without faltering in the face of danger. Metaphors

Nationalism In America
Hello, I am Susana Stripling and I am talking about the issues associated with rising neo nationalistic
policies. Some background on the issue, nationalism is the strong belief in the interests of a particular
nation state being of a higher importance than other nation states. Nationalism is associated with
strong patriotic feelings, increases in armaments, a feeling of superiority over other nations, political
independence, as well as the severing of ties and communications with other nations. Neo nationalism
is the re emergence of nationalism except under different global and transnational conditions.
Globalism is the complete opposite of nationalism. Globalism is when you put the entire world s
policies and attitudes and values above that of your own particular nation. It s working together as a
group. Transnational organizations are groups that are involved in international relations. It s ... Show

the fact that he is keeping communications and the nation is keeping communications and ties and

Looking at neo nationalism rising globally, some examples of different countries that have neo
nationalistic policies, despite the fact that they may be small or they may be large, just starting or they
may have already been developed, is Japan s Shinzo Abe s Society in Which All 100 Million People

The Third Largest Coal Ash Spill
The third largest coal ash spill in United States history has left some citizens in North Carolina fearing
their water is not safe to drink. This fear is a result of anywhere between 50,000 and 82,000 tons of
coal ash and up to twenty seven million gallons of contaminated water being dumped into the Dan
River in Eden, North Carolina on February 2, 2014. The spill was caused by a busted storm drain pipe
that ran under an unlined coal ash pond at Duke Energy s Dan River Combined Cycle Station ( Duke
Energy s Grievous ). Coal ash is a byproduct of burning coal for energy and contains substances such
as arsenic, lead, and mercury. These toxic chemicals are not only harmful to the environment but to
the human population as well (Christian). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Listed below are the proposed draft risk classifications for each facility in North Carolina as of
December 2015.
Draft Proposed Impoundment Classifications. DEQ. 31 Dec. 2015. Web. 8 Apr. 2016.
The coal ash that is buried underground still has the potential to seep into the neighboring water
supply. Also, the high risk ponds will not be evacuated until 2019 and the low intermediate risk ponds
as late as 2029. Subsequently, there will still be run off from these ponds polluting fresh water for the
time being ( House, Senate Approve ). This settlement is not a win for residents surrounding these
impoundments. Preventing seepage from coal ash ponds and completely removing the coal ashes
away from fresh water is the only way North Carolinians will feel safe about their drinking water, no
matter the proposed risk classification.
For instance, the N.C. Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) handed out a Clean Water Act
permit to the Duke Energy Riverbend coal ash site on Mountain Island Lake on the Catawba River
which supplies water for Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, Mount Holly, and Gastonia. This pollution
discharge permit is supposed to protect Mountain Island Lake from harmful coal ash pollution coming
out of the Duke Energy s Riverbend facility. In 2015, Duke Energy pleaded guilty to criminal coal ash
pollution and was issued to remove the coal ash pond at Riverbend. The coal ash lagoons are
scheduled to be

Overgrown Woods Monologue
Deep in the overgrown woods of the Ebony Forest, where the trees are as dark as the night sky
currently above it, a small light flickers into the shadows as a lone figure sits down in the dirt, his back
to a tree, with a small contraption that produces a small flame from the end. The figure pulls the hood
of his cobalt blue robe down a little further as a strong gust of wind blows by; not only causing him to
shiver, but for his small flame to go out as well. Letting out a small gasp, he clicks a button on the side
of his strange device a few times, making it produce a few sparks, but no flame. He looks down at the
pile of sticks and dead leaves he was trying to light before clenching his fist around the contraption

How Does Dickens Make Fun Of Mrs Sparsit
Explore the ways Dickens makes fun of Mrs Sparsit
Mrs Sparsit is introduced to Hard Times seven chapters into the book. She spends her time scheming
against Louisa and cherishing her secret hopes of one day marrying Bounderby until he banishes her
from his home. Dickens makes fun of Mrs Sparsit in many ways, including nominative determinism,
detailing her increasingly desperate attempts to ruin Bounderby s marriage in order to have him marry
her and her relationship with Bounderby as well as by emphasizing her classical features and by
playing up the way she carries herself.
Dickens pokes fun at Mrs Sparsit by giving her a name with connotations of both valour and sparsity.

The Benefits of Stem Cells
Stem cell research holds the cures and treatments for most of the major diseases in the world. Many
people with major and deadly diseases may be benefited by stem cell research. Other people have
been fortunate enough to have had the benefits of it already. There are two types of cells, which are
embryonic and adult stem cells. Embryonic stem cells can become any type of cell, for example,
blood, brain tissue, and skin cells. Many people may not be supportive of this research because of
cloning fears. Other people do not support it because of the use of aborted embryos for research. Stem
cells will save many people s lives all over the world. Stem cell research ... Show more content on

In October 2014, a study showed that stem cells could help people with macular degeneration, which
is a disease that causes continuous loss of sight. Researchers followed eighteen patients for three years
and saw no signals of rejection of the transplanted stem cells (Young). Stem cells can also be used to
create brain tissue. The creation of brain tissue with stem cells will provide the treatments for
Alzheimer s, Parkinson s disease, and Dementia. These treatments may not cure the disease
completely, but it could stop the progression of the disease. It could also reverse some of the damage
already done. Anything that might reasonably be called a real brain is going to have to pass more tests
than simply being made of brain cells and looking a bit like a brain under a microscope (Coath 4). Any
technique that gives us something like a brain that we can modify, work on, and watch as it develops
has to be exciting (Coath 4). On September 2013, the creation of cerebral organoids was achieved.
Cerebral organoids are pea sized brain tissue. This achievement of brain tissue organs can help
researchers explore important questions about brain development and brain functions. All this research
and new developments on stem cells gets researchers a little closer every time to actually finding the
cure for a brain

Wedding Tips For A Wedding
Getting engaged is a wonderful time in every woman s life; however the excitement can quickly be
overpowered by stress. In the United States the average cost of a wedding is $26,000! Personally,
when I learned how expensive weddings are, I immediately began brainstorming on how I could
shrink this number. One big way to save some money on your big day is to plan your wedding
yourself rather than spending thousands of dollars on a professional wedding planner. This essay is for
brides everywhere who wish to successfully plan their wedding on their own. First things first, you
need to decide on a month which you desire to have your wedding. This is an important part of
planning your wedding because you need to plan things months in advance and setting a general date
will help you do so. About nine months before the wedding you should begin to look at wedding
invitation designs and browse through wedding dress photos. Also, if you plan on having an
engagement party send out these invitations and decide on décor and snacks for the party. Engagement
parties are not generally for gift giving; however, if you do wish to receive gifts on this day, it is
important that you begin a wedding registry so guests can buy you what you would like. After your
engagement party you should begin your wedding guest list and decide who will be in your wedding
party. Last, but definitely not least, reserve your wedding venue! It is important to reserve your
wedding venue as soon as possible, so

  • 2. International Adoption Should Not Be A Viable Adoption Source The image of an American family changed dramatically over the last fifty years. American families are no longer modeled after the Cleavers. International adoption has contributed to this changing family view, bringing in children who are not biologically related to their parents and often of a different race. This new American image has helped to reduce race related issues. Children are the future of a country. If a country is losing their children to international adoption; the county is losing the gifts and talents that are irreplaceable in those children. Intercountry adoption should not be a viable adoption source because this process does not adequately benefit those involved, international adoption exploits poor children and hurts their countries of origin. International adoption takes children out of their countries, and this can lead to the risk of alienating the children. Parents that adopt foreign children may be ill equipped or uneducated in their adopted child s culture and this can steer the loss of the child s cultural identity. Culturally, we pass on our values and beliefs through our family structure; our heritage is part of our identity. People who are raised in another country could miss out on learning about their ethnic heritage. Medical writer Meg Brannagan claims internationally adopted child s question where their place is in a racially diverse family. Brannagan also explains internationally adopted adults raised in the United States ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Narcissism Research Papers Narcissism is the complete lack of empathy for others as well as over glorified self esteem. This belief leads to a decrease in the amount of relationships because narcissists hold themselves on such a high pedestal. The history of this cautionary trait has come from the self esteem movement which started to help the depression of people about their bodies, lives, and jobs. Creating this movement started out well; however, the extremists took it to a whole new level. So what once was a positive now became a negative because people only care for themselves. The characteristic of narcissism is found in Millennials more today than ever before. Through relationships, jobs, and views on entitlements, narcissism can be seen as leading Millennial ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... ...we are now a society in which more than 4 in 10 children are born out of wedlock, and in which a teenager has less chance of being raised by both biological parents... (Taylor 54). Narcissists are incapable of long term relationships, and the fact that families are now also having holes, shows that the narcissism level is increasing. A lot of times, children are being raised by their grandparents or one biological parent and a step parent. This is due to the narcissist s need of a trophy significant other who helps them to feel good. When a significant other starts to slack off with the praise or doesn t fit what the other person wants, they leave. Much of narcissists behavior in relationships is game playing , (Twenge 215). This behavior is the use of a person to satisfy another s wants or needs until they don t work for the person anymore. Millennial America is changing from narcissism and allowing this characteristic to run the decisions people make. In The Next America, the author states the decision making world perfectly, How Americans respond in their public choices as well as their private behaviors will go a long way toward determining whether the generations spend the coming decades at war or in harmony (Taylor 55). The quote should spark some interest into what your decisions will affect and how the world will be different depending on what you choose. So choose ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Compare and Contrast of the Classical School of Management... Compare and contrast of the classical school of management and the human relations school of management The classical or traditional approach to management was generally concerned with the structure and the activities of formal organization. The utmost importance in the achievement of an effective organization were seen to be the issues such as the establishment of a hierarchy of authority, the division of work, and the span of control. The classical management focuses on the efficiency and includes scientific, bureaucratic and administrative management. All of these ideal characteristics have one goal, to promote the efficient attainment of the organization s goals. Some have seriously misinterpreted Weber and have claimed that he liked bureaucracy, that he believed that bureaucracy was an ideal organization. Others have pronounced Weber wrong because bureaucracies do not live up to his list of ideals . Others have even claimed that Weber invented bureaucratic organization. But Weber described bureaucracy as an ideal type in order to more accurately describes their growth in power and scope in the modern world. His studies of bureaucracy still form the core of organizational sociology. Weber s discussion of authority relations also provides insight into what is happening in the modern world. Weber distinguished three main types of authority: Traditional authority, Rational legal authority and Charismatic authority. Administrative management is a style of management that focuses on principles to be used by managers to co ordinate the internal activities of the total organization. This theory was developed by Henri Fayol (1841 1925) to be taught to individuals with administrative responsibilities, which lead to the five major functions of managerial activities, planning, organizing, commanding, ... • 7. How Does Earthquake Affect The Earthquake Task Two: Earthquakes and Buildings The type of buildings that were the most damaged in the 2011 Christchurch earthquake. In the 6.3 magnitude Christchurch earthquake that occurred at 12.51pm on the 22nd of February 2011, the types of buildings that were the most damaged were houses and commercial buildings that were built in the 19th and early 20th century. The majority of these buildings that were damaged were ones that relied on single or double brick for their structure. This relates to how the bricks are placed on the house and whether there are two layers or one layer of brick. Buildings made of bricks and stones were damaged because they can t move with the earth and most of the bricks crack and fall off making the structure a lot less stable and more likely to collapse in an aftershock. Brick chimneys on the old wooden houses fell over and crashed through the roofs and caused a lot of damage. Stone buildings such as the Old Stone House were also badly damaged and had to be closed following the February 2011 earthquake. The most structural damage mainly occurred in houses that were made of heavy materials such as stones, bricks or concrete. This is because it is harder for these building materials to withstand strong shaking and to support their own weight when they begin to lose shape. They can t bounce back as easy once they have been forced in the other direction. This forces the buildings to fall outwards or collapse. A lot of damage occurred in houses and ... • 8. Time Amendment Pros And Cons Essay Time limits are a big piece to the puzzle that is the failure of the ERA. It is not very common to find time restrictions on proposed amendments. Amending the constitution is already a long and strenuous task to put in motion, and when one is forced to work twice as quickly because of a deadline, the process gets even more taxing. If an amendment is going to have a deadline, it will usually be a seven year deadline (Palmer). The inequality that are constitutional deadlines are a major problem in the ratification process. Deadlines are only placed on amendments to try and guarantee failure of the amendment. Often times when a time restriction is placed upon a proposed amendment, it is a gift to the people backing the amendment, letting them know that the people putting a deadline onto the amendment are fully opposed to their idea (Kops). The problem with time limits are that if gives states time to run out the window for voting on the amendment. • 9. The Effects Of Caffeine On Oxidative Stress In the present study, the MDA level was measured as an index of lipid peroxidation in order to observe the effect of caffeine on the oxidative stress induced by AlCl3 in cortex, hippocampus and striatum brain areas. Brain tissues are more vulnerable to oxidative stress other than tissues for many reasons such as high oxygen consumption (more than 20% of the total inspired oxygen), the presence of abundant amount of polyunsaturated fatty acids which are susceptible to free radicals attack, low antioxidant levels, high iron content in addition to the non regenerative nature of neurons (Nehru and Anand, 2005; Kim et al., 2015). All these reasons may explain why brain is more susceptible to aluminum toxicity than other organs. In the present ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The present results showed that daily protection with caffeine attenuated the increase in MDA levels in AlCl3 intoxicated rats. Supporting the present finding, previous studies have revealed the antioxidant potential of caffeine against lipid peroxidation in various animal models of neurologic diseases, including Alzheimer s disease (Prasanthi et al., 2010), epilepsy (Souza et al., 2013) and Parkinson s disease (Khadrawy et al., 2017). It has been demonstrated that caffeine has the ability to scavenge reactive oxygen species (Devasagayam et al., 1996) and modulated the brain antioxidant system through increasing the content of GSH and activities of antioxidant enzymes like glutathione reductase and superoxide dismutase (Abreu et al., 2011). Generally, the antioxidant capacity of caffeine was similar to that of the established biological antioxidant GSH and significantly higher than ascorbic acid (Devasagayam et al., 1996). Accordingly, this may explain the ability of caffeine to attenuate lipid peroxidation induced by AlCl3 in the current study via direct scavenging of reactive oxygen species or by increasing GSH content and antioxidant enzymes activities. The present data revealed that daily oral administration of AlCl3 resulted in a significant increase in NO levels in the cortex, hippocampus and striatum. • 11. The Influence of Eastman Kodak Company on Photography Essay It is considered that photography only became widely available to the public when the Kodak Eastman Company introduced the box shaped Brownie Camera in 1900. (Baker, n.p.) Its features became more refined since its original placing on the market; one of the reasons why it has become considered the birth of public photography is because of the processing. Using a similar image capture system, the brownie exposed the light to a 120mm roll of film, which could be wound round, meaning six photographs could be taken before the slides needed removing. The first Brownie used a six exposure cartridge that Kodak processed for the photographer. (Kodak.com, n.d.) (Bellis, 2009) Nevertheless, the main selling point of digital cameras was the convenient way that they could be stored. Every exposure is almost instantly saved to a removable disk drive, which remarkably expired the use of darkroom processing. It was convenient, less time was needed to produce an image, making it particularly appealing to journalism. The photograph has since then become an instant process. Combined with the invention of the Internet, and booming industry of personal computers, the newer technology would expire its predecessor. There are billions of photographs on the Internet, comprising the largest most diverse photo collection ever assembled. We have access to imagery from all over the world, using key words and hash tags to catalogue imagery and content; we can see what is happening without being there. The introduction of digital photography has enabled photographers to record terabits of imagery which can be stored in minute places, meaning the coverage that we have of the modern world is greater than ever. Unlike the formats that Henri Cartier Bresson used, where each roll of film, or negative slide needed storing in a large physical place, under controlled conditions, an archive of objects. Though it is nowhere near true for the majority of student athletes, a select few situations encourage this negative categorization of us, thus putting student athletes under even more pressure to perform. Student athletes are constantly misjudged and the assumptions are affecting us. For example, in his article Checking Athlete s Privilege, Michael Kasdan writes, Giving star athletes preferential treatment doesn t begin in college. It starts much younger. Whether it be poverty, economic issues, equality, and thus forth, there is one what has always been around for centuries, but has made a bigger impact is stereotyping. This in particular topic has lead to a multitude of problems, such as social categorization, and the cause of prejudice. The stereotyping propaganda in the United States has caused more problems and attracted more attention than is truly needed. Stereotyping has been a normal occurrence since human beings have been able to do so to others, as tragic as that is. Although it has been through our history, nothing from the past can possibly compare to the amount of stereotyping going on in our world in the modern day, and how much it impacts us and others around us. Robert L. Heilbroner says it best in his article DON T LET STEREOTYPES WARP YOUR JUDGMENT (citation) Stereotypes are a kind of gossip about the world, a gossip that makes us prejudge people before we ever lay eyes on them. Hence it is not surprising that stereotypes have something to do with the dark world of prejudice (Heilbroner Pg.19 number 5). The Holocaust And The Nazi Regime During World War II Essay Introduction The Second World War is seen by the modern world to be the most famous war that shaped the communities of the world today, but for the Jewish community in Europe at the time this was the war to fight for their own existence. The Holocaust was the systematic extinction of six million Jews by the Nazi regime during World War 2. Of the millions of Jewish people that lost their lives there were many that did resist and did escape the Nazism and Nazi racial policy that was conducted on the Jewish lives throughout the war. There were different ways the Jews did resist through different dimensions of wellbeing, through uprising in the ghettos and camps in a stretch to revolting against their German captivators whilst secretly keeping their spiritual and religious beliefs as something that the Nazis could never physically take from them. The Jews showed resistance to German control also by escaping the camps, and creating Armies and Partisan Groups to fight back.
