The Film Hamlet By William Shakespeare
The film Hamlet by William Shakespeare was made by two directors in two different versions
which one was Kenneth Branagh and the other Franco Zeffirelli. By watching the four scenes of
the play of the two versions, the viewer has come up to the conclusion that Kenneth Branagh s
version best captures the essence of the play in terms of costume design, acting, directing, and
cinematography. The directing and cinematography in Act IV, Scene V the Ophelia Madness Scene
as well as the acting, costume design in Act V, Scene II the Final Scene showed that Branagh s
version of the film Hamletis the most effective.
Branagh s use of directing in Act IV, Scene V in the Ophelia Madness Scene helped best to
present the scene in a most effective way. Ophelia has gone mad due to her father s loss, people
have been suspicious and disturbed by the death as well. Laertes who is Ophelia s sister has
come back from France with a mob of commoners who they call Laertes lord and people say that
Laertes shall become king. He enters the hall with an eager ready to avenge his father s death,
Claudius the king tries to calm him down by acknowledging that Polonius is dead. The director in
Branagh s version provided a padded cell for Ophelia where it shows that she really has gone
insane and when she entered the hall, began singing about chaos, death, and unsatisfied love. The
clothes she was wrapped in demonstrates an excellent illustration of her madness because when the

The Social Security Act Of 1935 And Medicaid Insurance
There has been an increasingly large amount of awareness placed on the governments role in
prevention and standards for the control of health care and communicable diseases. In this growing
effort are provisions applying to long term health and stipulations for proper treatment and care.
Gradually, a shift from local community efforts to care for the elder has transferred to a prominent
government role. Several committees have been created to assist with the implementation and over
view of care and acts to instigate change. Amongst the major changes that have been set in place
effecting long term care, was the passage of the Social Security Act of 1935 and Medicaid
insurance. Prior to the government s support with long term care and the... Show more content on

At this time, federal efforts began to assist with disabled and ill seamen. The Marine Hospital
was founded to deliver federally funded care and began the materialization of the government s
role in public health. As the government s role in public health remains, major changes have
been put into effect, precisely dealing with long term care. Before the 1930 s, providing care for
the elderly was exclusively a local and state run industry. However, after the great depression, a
growing demand was placed on providing some type of insurance for that population. The Social
Security Act of 1935 was established to assist with Federal old age benefits and was signed into
effect by President Roosevelt on August 15, 1935. (Home, 2015) Another major impact to long
term care has been the creation of Medicaid that went into effect in 1965 and was an amendment
to the Social Security Act of 1935. Title XIX of the Social Security Act is a federal and state
entitlement program that pays for medical assistance for certain individuals and families with low
incomes and resources Medicaid is a collective effort between state and the government to help
provide insurance for eligible citizens. Among those covered under this insurance, are the elderly,
disabled and pregnant. Medicaid is the largest source of funding for medical care. The new
changes to Medicaid are ongoing and will be put into effect as part of Obamacare. The Obama

Essay On Racism And Stereotyping In World Of Warcraft
Racism and Stereotyping in World of Warcraft: The inside look that the company doesn t want to
admit too
Massively multiplayer online games (MMOs) are played by millions of people around the globe,
and by one in five Americans (Entertainment Software Association, 2015). Role playing games
(MMORPGs) are a popular subcategory which lets gamers take on a new character, created for the
digital world, to play the game. Three of the top five bestselling computer games in the US in 2014
were MMORPGs, and three of them were from the fantasy genre: Diablo III: Reaper of Souls, The
Elder Scrolls Online, and World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor expansion pack. (Entertainment
Software Association, 2015, p.11) World of Warcraft was the most played MMORPG, with more
than 12 million active players and over 100 million accounts. While playing MMORPGs players
are exposed to Racism and Stereotyping from the game itself down to the gamers playing the game.
Research concerning race and video games usually focus on games set in the real world such as
games like the Grand Theft Auto franchise. It shows that minorities are rarely represented, and that
when they do appear the characters are usually racial stereotypes (Burgess, Dill, Stermer, Burgess,
Brown, 2011). Thus meaning that while video games are supposed to take gamers out of the real

How Is Mendacity In Cat On A Hot Tin Roof
Mendacity is untruthfulness and disgust is a feeling of revulsion by something. All the
characters in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof have experienced mendacity and disgust. For mendacity, we
had all but Big Daddy, Big Mama, and Brick lie about Big Daddy s sickness. They, as in Margaret,
Mae, Reverend Tooker, and Gooper, said it was a spastic colon and not cancer, but it was
truthfully malignant cancer (Brick did not know for a while that it was a lie). This is something that
angers and disgusts Big Daddy when he found out from Brick by accident. It was something he
was not expecting and resulted in his growing resentment for the others. They had told him
something of mendacity and added on to the other lies he had experienced his whole life. He was

Disgust can be seen in Gooper also. When he learns that Big Daddy will most likely be giving his
twenty eight thousand acre plantation to Brick, Gooper was appalled. Why should an alcoholic
like Brick get an estate? Gooper was disgusted by learning that from Big Mama.
Big Mama experiences mendacity when she had an argument with Big Daddy on his birthday.
He tells her that he never loved her, that she never loved him, and that it was all just a lie. This
also brought disgust to Big Mama because she could not comprehend it, which was why she left
crying. Brick was a major character that experienced mendacity and disgust. Skipper and Brick
had a clean and close friendship. The relationship Brick had with Skipper was something Brick
was truly happy with. It ruined him learning that Skipper was a homosexual man and had slept
with his wife one time. He felt disgusted with the mendacity found in their friendship. Skipper was
untruthful by not telling Brick that fact and is why Brick felt disgusted. However, I believe that

The Effect Of The Limiting Factor On The Speed Of...
4.3 Design physics: The limiting factor on the speed of an air gun, fire arm, or light gas gun is
the speed of sound in the working fluid the air, burning gunpowder, or a light gas. This is
essentially because the projectile is accelerated by the pressure difference between its ends, and
such a pressure wave cannot propagate any faster than the speed of sound in the medium. The
speed of sound in helium is about three times that in air, and in hydrogen 3.8 times that in air. The
speed of sound also increases with the temperatureof the fluid (but is independent of the pressure),
so the heat formed by the compression of the working fluid serves to increase the maximum
possible speed. Spring piston airguns increase the temperature of the air in the chamber by
adiabatic heating; this raises the local speed of sound enough to overcome frictional and other
efficiency losses and propel the projectile at more than the speed of sound in the ambient conditions.
4.4 Impact profile: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Obviously, a dense, narrow projectile will apply more pressure overall than a light and wide one.
Looking at constant cross sectional projectiles, researchers have recently begun to vary their
projectiles density as a function of length. Since the projectiles travel at a known velocity, changes
in density as a function of length have a predictable relationship to the impact pressure applied as a
function of time. With materials in a wide range of densities (from tungsten powder to glass
microsphere) applied in thin layers, carefully made projectiles can be used in constant pressure
experiments, or even controlled compression expansion compression

Wife Of Bath And Pardoners Tale Essay
The Pardoner and The Wife of Bath by Geoffrey Chaucer was a intriguing read. The Canterbury
Tales teach the reader a life lesson through the telling of a story. The pardoner was full of greed
and very money hungry. While the Wife of Bath was a old hag who just wanted loyalty and love
from knight Arthur. The Pardoner and the Wife of Bath are both faced with decisions that could
potentially end their lives. Loyalty and trust are expressed throughout the Wife of Bath. While
the pardoner teaches greed and self indulgence is also a sin when that is all you care about in
life. The Pardoner was a preacher who would travel from place to place and speak faith and hope
into people. While the preacher would preach he would condemn people along with judge them.
The Pardoner is a very wealthy man but he still makes the group of young Flemish people lather
him food and fancy wines. The pardoner would rather take widows last dollar to put in his endless
pockets rather than to give it to her to feed her starving children. The pardoner is told to find death...

can have her be ugly but loyal and good, or he can have her young and fair but also coquettish and
unfaithful. The knight ponders in silence. Finally, he replies that he would rather trust her
judgment, and he asks her to choose whatever she thinks best. The hag then turns good and

The Natural Environment
How does the natural environment influence culture?
There is a myriad of varying definitions for the word culture. Instead of defining culture in general
terms, it is often defined by how it is related to the environment; and consequently, how it is
affected. Culture provides direction, and reason. Throughout history, people have remained stalwart
and true to their roots and traditions. However, it has become evident that, with the changing
environment, many traditional practices have had to adapt. Climate change is a key component
causing this adaptation. Through reflecting upon environmental relativism, and cultural aspects,
such as subsistence patterns, economic systems, and religion and world view, it can be concluded
that the natural environment influences culture by causing environment based traditions to mould to
external factors.
Environmental relativism can be defined as follows: the ways in which certain aspects of the
physical environment are relevant to cultures and traditions. It is how the environment relates to a
culture (personal communication, Kathy Rettie, September 7, 2017). The environment is an ever
changing system; it often cannot be predicted. Climate change, such as warmer winters, rising sea
levels, and changes in precipitation, provide evidence that the individuals affected by the physical
environment must change their way of life to adapt. This is particularly true for many nomadic
cultures, who base their survival off the changing weather

Andrew Jackson Versus The Cherokee Nation, And Native...
The U.S. Government used treaties as a way to displace Native Americans from their tribal lands, a
mechanism that was strengthened with the Removal Act of 1830. In cases where this strategy
failed, the government sometimes violated both treaties and Supreme Court rulings to ensure the
spread of Americans westward across the continent. As the 19th century began, many Americans
poured into the backcountry of the South and began moving toward and into what would later
become the states of Alabama and Mississippi. Since Indian tribes living there appeared to be the
main obstacle to westward expansion, white settlers motioned for the federal government to
displace them. This phenomenon was described by authors Robert V. Remini, in his article Andrew
JacksonVersus the CherokeeNation , and Chief John Ross, in his letter To the Senate and House of
Representatives . They express the views of Andrew Jackson and the Cherokee Indians respectively.
Author Chief John Ross wrote a letter to the senate in protest of the treaty of New Echota. A group
of Cherokee claimed to be representatives of their people, agreeing to relocate past the Mississippi,
even though 15,000 citizens opposed moving. This occurred at the Red Clay Council Ground,
Cherokee Nation in 1836 and the Cherokee people didn t want to relocate, angry that the decision
was made without their input.
Chief John Ross espouses of the U.S Government s affairs with, and the call for removal of the

The Manhattan Project Essay
The Manhattan Project was a very important event throughout the World War II history. It began the
development of the atomic bomb and other nuclear weapons that were of good help during the war.
It first began with a German scientist separating the uranium atom, which made people be scared of
what Hitler might be capable of. Also Hitler and his people had begun discovering new types of
weapons that were useful for them in the war. Something that apparently Hitler did not quite think
about, was the persecution of Jewish scientists such as Albert Einstein, who could very well use his
abilities against Hitler. Albert Einstein was a Jewish refugee in the United States. Another very
important scientist, although not Jewish, was Enrico Fermi,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

On July of 1945, J Robert Oppenheimer tests the first bomb at Trinity State, near Alamogordo,
New Mexico. All the scientists readied themselves to watch the detonation of this atomic bomb
which stood on top of a tower. Once exploded, there was a blinding flash which could be seen
from 200 miles away. It also grew up to 40,000 feet and damaged some of the homes near it that
were 100 miles away. After this explosion President Truman, all the way from Postdam,
Germany, declares that the project was successful. Later on we see how there were more
bombings being made, not only this one at Trinity State. The United States was trying to make
Japan surrender but they denied it. Because of this the United States developed a new bomb
named little boy which was detonated in Hiroshima, Japan. On August 6, 1945 it exploded with
an altitude of 1,750 feet. Over 69% of Hiroshima s buildings were destroyed and about 7%
damaged. About 80,000 (or about 30%) of the people in Hiroshima were killed instantly and
another 70,000 were injured. After this occurring, Japan still didn t want to surrender which
caused the United States to develop another bomb. In August 9, 1945, the next bomb named Fat
Man took place at Nagasaki, Japan. This attack destroyed about 44% of the city, killed about
35,000 people and about 60,000 were injured. Emperor Hirohito from Japan had enough of these
bomb attacks and finally decided to surrender. He was already

1932 Social Melodrama I Was Born But Analysis
In Yasijuro Ozu s 1932 social melodrama, I Was Born But..., it s use of mise en scene works
well to describe the characters lives at home, as well as the tone of an economically depressed
Japan. As a slice of life movie, one scene stands out between separating Yoshi, the father, and his
co workers. While the camera pans across an office of yawning workers, Yoshi is patiently
waiting at his desk for something, like being called into his boss office. During his discussion
with Mr. Iwasaki, his co workers criticize him for kissing up to the boss, by moving into the
suburbs. Following this conversation, the camera slides the other way, showing all of the office
employees busy at their desk, before abruptly cutting to the children in schooldoing the same thing.
In this scene Ozu does a very good job of showing the similarities between the children and the
adults that work every day they do. While the adults are struggling in... Show more content on

Yoshi s wife stays at home as a housewife, while his children go to school for an education. Because
the movie wants to emphasize its relatability to the public at the time, it is not very dramatic and
has very simple camera angle and cuts. Most people have similar looks, children all in school
wear uniforms, and the men wear suits and ties. Only three certain characters have distinct
works, the teacher, who is very clean cut and put together much better than the salarymen. And
Mr. Iwasaki, who is covered in film and smoking a cigar, while his employees outside are smoking
on their own rolled cigarettes. Ozu had made the appearance of Mr. Iwasaki something less
professional because he was intended to be a relatable character, like Yoshi, but to still separate
them monetarily. Mr. Iwasaki is a professional man in a position of power, he can afford to have a

Our Time Here at Berks
Our team here at Berks has experienced much over the past 2 1/2 years, carrying the unofficial
mantra, TOC: Take on Change. We ve built and moved into a new facility, been awarded a new
staffing contract, seen people come and go, and transitioned over to an electronic health record.
It prides me that we have been a model for growth and development. Many of you exemplify
positive values that I believe make our work worthwhile. During our time together, I have
advocated on your behalf and made decisions with focus toward what is best for our future and
for this agency. We all recognize that change comes at a cost and that at each crossroad we have
the opportunity to determine which road to follow. We can accept challenges, making them
work to our benefit, or we can resist progress. For me personally, and as you probably have seen,
I choose not to be held hostage by those who thwart efforts to maintain a positive and rewarding
work environment. This said I also do my best to give others the benefit of the doubt, with hopes
that others do the same in return. I have done this for many of you regardless of opinions or
differing views and suggestions. Some of you can vouch for this as it has been at the expense of
your own frustration. I ve spoken with each of you on numerous occasions about toxic effects of
gossip and rumors. Previous administrators have done the same, even to the point of sending
official documentation. I have also spoken with some of you about your gifts

Pros And Cons Of Hydraulic Fracking
Hydraulic Fracking is a drilling method developed for the extraction of energy resources buried
beneath shale formations located deep below the Earth s surface. The practice of vertical drilling
has been safely performed for more than 50 years, but the recent development of horizontal drilling
has exposed the practice to harsh scrutinization. Vertical drilling inserts pipe directly into the shale
formations allowing for limited access to pockets of methane. The last 10 to 15 years has brought
about the development of horizontal drilling, which allows drilling to be conducted with greater
economic benefit. The process splinters shale formations horizontally, allowing the escape of larger
amounts of methane. The methane travels through fractures and eventually is stored for transport.
Proponents of hydraulic fracking contend the practice is safe, provides jobs, and is healthier for the
environment than fossil fuels. Opponents postulate the practice pollutes the water table, is a health
risk, is a viable danger to the climate, and causes earthquakes. The... Show more content on

approximately 20 quakes per year; it experienced 29 between 2001 and 2008 with an exponential
increase from 2009 to 2011 (Ehrenberg 22). The problems do not seem to be associated with the
drilling itself, but with the waste water disposal re injected back into sandstone below the Earth s
surface. The waste water acts as a lubricate between fault lines causing movement resulting in the
shift of bedrock formations. Both advocates and opponents acknowledge the possibility for
earthquake damage, however fracking proponents believe the risk is validated by the associated

Across The World, Peoples Of All Backgrounds Universally
Across the world, peoples of all backgrounds universally recognize the need for morality and
ethics in society and governance. Despite this, the exact moral codes that groups of people follow
often vary from country to country, region to region, tribe to tribe and so on. This has created
cause for many moral and ethical experts to adopt a view of subjective morality, or morality that
varies from culture to culture. Despite the problems that immediately arise when exploring this
view, including acts condemned in most parts of the world, such as sacrificial killings, rape, and
genital mutilation, being considered moral based on a given society s accepting of it, subjective
morality appears to have some truthfulness to it, as societies, do... Show more content on
Helpwriting.net ...
The phenomenon of apparent subjective morality is often explained by its proponents through the
existence of different religious doctrine. The contrary of this, though, is quite true, as the inclusion
of moral and ethical code in religion across the world, despite a singular unifying religion not
being adopted by earth s societies, is an argument for an objective ethical code independent of
societal interpretation. The mandate for some moral or ethical code in all religions is proof that
such a code must exist in society, regardless of what that code may include.
The adherence to different religions in different parts of the world introduces a variable to
measure morality against, as religion is a social construct that creates different moral standards for
a society to adhere to based on what religion it dominantly practices. By comparing the tenants of
the worlds religions to each other, some basic tenant of objective morality can be established. If no
shared tenants could not be found, then it would be proven that objective morality does not exist;
this, however, is not the case. In examining shared tenants across religions, two basic, universal
tenants can be discovered. These are self improvement (though through what means is generally
dependent upon a specific religion) and general good will towards and treatment of one s fellow
society members.

You Say You Want A Resolution Analysis
A resolution is a firm decision to do or not to do something. In Heidi Pollock s essay, You Say
You Want a Resolution she describes the true meaning of a New Year s resolution. A lot of people
might pick only one resolution for New Year s. They might say they want to lose a certain amount
of weight or to stop drinking soda. According to Pollock though, that is not the correct way. In
Pollock s words , A true resolutionshould be an addition to your life, should expand your horizons
and help you grow as a person . Her view is that people should have three resolutions; one from
the Health Lifestyle category, another from the Education/Practice category, as well as one from
the Project/Task category. The reason for the three is to increase the odds in being successful in
fulfilling at least one of the resolutions. So my three New Year s resolutions for next year are
washingmy face every night before bed, reading a bookI would not normally read at least once a
month, and finally finding a job for myself. My first resolution will definitely be hard to achieve,
especially every night. The reason for this is because I like to stay up late till I become so tired
that I end up going to sleep before washing my face first. Another reason is that I usually come
home late and by that time I am so exhausted that I once again go straight to bed before washing
my face that is full of makeup. A way I can break this habit of going to sleep before washing my

Hello, I am Julianna Prato, a sophomore at Lakeland Senior High School. Throughout the year I
had the opportunity to work closely with the current Chapter Historian and I found myself falling
in love with the position. I now would like to run for the position of Chapter Historian for
Lakeland High School FBLA.
I would like to run for the position of Chapter Historian because Historian helps document history.
It is the Historian s responsibility to take pictures of their chapter and create a scrapbook that
would be presented as the State Leadership Conference however I want to do so much more with
the position. One day, my advisor showed me a scrapbook that was created in 1976 and by
looking at that scrapbook it showed me how powerful they are, that one day thirty years from now
another Historian could be looking ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I want to make sure that the 2015 2016 Lakeland High School FBLA be remembered for a long
time. Like I previously stated I had the amazing opportunity to work closely with the current
Chapter Historian for Lakeland High School FBLA. By working so closely with the Historian I
was able to learn the time and dedication it took to hold this position and learn that I was
completely up to the challenge. Lastly, I knew that the position of Chapter Historian was the
only position for me because you need to have creativity when it comes to a position like this.
Not only do the Historians have to create a scrapbook they also have to create the chapter display
and a raffle basket that are all presented at the State Leadership Conference. Also, please consider
me for the position of Chapter Secretary as well. Being Secretary along with Historian will allow
me to work on getting Lakeland High School FBLA chapter of the year at the next leadership
conference more efficiently since both the secretary s binder and the scrapbook are

Paul Laurence Dunbar s We Wear the Mask and His Facade...
Paul Laurence Dunbar s poem We Wear The Mask is about his views on
racism and the struggle for equality for the African Americans. What is so
beautifully unique is how he wrote it in an artful, refined dissimulation of his true
self. He is deliberately misleading and often indirect as if to hide beneath his
words, coming across as oblique and delicate at the same time. This further
stresses the idea of the mask, being concealing and elusive, in many ways.
This particular piece of work is unequaled, not only to the literary world,
but the author himself. Paul Laurence Dunbar s other poems are written in a
specific dialect, brought on by his African American descent. One example comes from

veil to shield the emotions of bearer of the mask and personal denial of specific
emotions whether they are guilt, sorrow, or anger. Emotions are tightly capped
when the mask hides our cheeks and shades our eyes where you cannot tell if
he is crying or smiling.
The debt we pay to human guile is reference to the slavery and struggle
of the African Americans. Human guile is the trickery, cunning, and deceit of
those who enslaved them. Dunbar doesn t actually mean that they are in debt
but it was sarcasm and irony to the fact that they have paid their lives to people
who had no interest in the well being of the African Americans, only in the
leisure of their own. It is clear the wounds afflicted during the ever lasting conflict
were deep but Dunbar states with torn and bleeding hearts we smile because
while the struggle was hard, he knows somehow that it will come to and end and
his people would flourish. More importantly, the mouth of which they smile with is
laced with myriad subtleties , countless misleading crafty features that leads you
to understand the facade, knowing there is hurtful doubt behind it.
Paul Dunbar then continues to question the world and it s eagerness to be
over wise , to recount the African American s miseries one after another. While

Case Study Of Star Alliance
Executive summary
Since the 1990s the alliances in the airline industries is common and there are three major airline
alliances which are present in the world are OneWorld, SkyTeam and Star Alliance. These alliances
of airlines have covered almost two third of world air traffic industry and the major contribution in
this is Star Alliance. The strategic alliances on the part of the airlines are done because of many
advantages which not only organizations reap but also the other stakeholders which are involved in
this type of alliances. This research paper is evaluation of why the strategic alliances are important

Learning, specialization and fix cost distribution can spread over larger output with economies of
scales (Albers, Koch and Ruff, 2005). Three strategies were opted as motivation by the airlines to
create an alliance (i) mergers and acquisitions, (ii) setting up low cost carriers and (iii) air
alliances. Air alliance was considered as the most sustainable strategy by the Star airline. Through
the strategic alliance, the airline had an opportunity to expand and become large but at the same
time they can lower their cost by creating the competitive advantage that is why Start Alliance
opted for this option (Cojohari, 2015).
2.2 Marketing and Branding
Airline behavior could not be explained effectively with changing cost structure. In the bottom line
of any alliance marketing strategies and demand response are important. With Star Alliance, the
airline can offer their consumers large and denser global network of airlines with smooth
connections among airlines. Airlines have demands with competitive prices in Star Alliance due to
economies of scope, scale and density. In Star Alliance partners are able to offer better products
and services due to airlines increased capacity to retain and generate passengers (Cullen, Johnson
and Sakano, 2000).

The English East India Company
The Portuguese Working Under the English East India Company at Fort St. George Madras in the
Seventeenth Century
The success for the English East India Company making inroads in the Coromandel was due to
the Anglo Portuguese Truce (1630), which made possible for the foundation of an English
settlement in 1640 at Madraspatnam. With the establishment of Fort St. George in 1640, slowly
the migrants begin to settle down with the promise of no tax for thirty years, the term of thirty
years only no custom of things to be taken, drank, or worn should be taken of any of the town
dwellers. Among them the most important community who came to settle were the Portuguese
and their offspring known as mesticos. They knew the Tamil language and all usual ways of
expediting business in the region; they were ideal foremen, as soldiers, as translators, as brokers,
in fact as intermediaries for all the range of activities which are useful in establishing and operating
a fortified trading post in the midst of a strange landscape.
The Portuguese that colonized Coromandel as early as in 1518 were not part of the administrative
system of Goa, though by the 1620s the resident fear of the Dutch and English made them closer
ties with the viceroyalty in the hope that it will be able to protect them. But the Estado da India
watched helplessly when the Dutch started capturing their own ships, which greatly affected their
prosperity. Even before the final annexation of Portuguese overseas empire,

the initial feeling left behind is a gratifying heartwarming thought. The mother displays the great

give an unforgettable feeling and idea. The mother teaches the readers a lesson that is hard to

possessions and not dwelling over them. She lets go of them as easily as a feather falls. For
instance, the narrator explains every time she visits her mother she owns less and gradually only
has a small amount of stuff left over. The narrator addresses the few things remaining are the ones
given to her by her children. The mother implies letting go of tangible things and holding on
harder to remember the important people is more precious. The remarkable idea of recycling
everything and feeling no regret is unforgettable. Many people value material possession rather than

The meaning darkness does not mean the same for everyone, it is different in our minds to what

look up the word darkness or dark in a dictionary you may find more than one meaning. First
meaning it gave dark, no light, dull cutoff from the rest of the world, gloomy, sad, sinister, evil
secret, night, not knowing. These are all words that could have been used in the book.
The jungle could be sinister and evil. I find that the word secret represents what goes on in the
jungle very well. It makes you think carefully about what might be in the jungle, the dangers and
cautions of the jungle. It also seems very mystical. It shows that maybe the jungle has something to
hide that it doesn t want you to know about, it wants to keep it to itself.
In the book, as Marlow travels up the Congo River, he himself begins to become sinister and

immediately sets out to tell Threarah. After Fiver and Hazel finally reach the distanced

This decision is important in displaying the desire for power in Threarah; he knows that if he

take mounds of time and effort, but the decision would also be Threarah s. This means that if
the move was a bad decision he could possibly lose his power. Threarah is willing to risk the
lives of his entire warren to safely retain power; he is so caught up in being power hungry that
Fiver s vision eventually becomes true and the whole warren is killed. As our first example of a

These mild cases in females are usually mistreated with over the counter yeast infection drugs.
Gonorrhea can be treated with the right prescription from a doctor. This will be an antibiotic that
will be either taken orally or injected. It is essential to finish all the antibiotics even when feeling
normal again to prevent the infection from coming back. People infected should wait one week
after finishing the treatment before having sexual intercourse of any kind to insure not spreading
the disease to their partner. It is essential to be treated. If not treated, women may have ectopic
pregnancies or may even become infertile. For men, not treating gonorrhea causes pain in the
testicles or may cause him to become sterile. For both sexes, a rare condition may occur where the
infection spreads to the joints or blood, this condition is life threatening. Having gonorrhea also
increases the chances of getting other sexually transmitted diseases (Johnson). It is essential to use
condoms to help protect against this disease. While condoms are not affective all the time, they
help cut sexually transmitted disease rates down. Having a monogamous relationship with one
sexual partner also ends the risk of getting these diseases if both people have been previously
tested. This method ends the risk of contracting a sexually transmitted disease all

Research Proposal On Water Fountains
BACKGROUND
The current water fountains at Lawrenceburg High School are broken with poor filtration systems.
The water fountains are also inconvenient for the students and the school. The current water
fountains are costing the school more money, because the filtration is not effective and water is
lost. The old water fountains pose many threats such as making students sick from improper
sanitation and not allowing the students to get the appropriate amount of water they need
throughout the day. The students can be late to class trying to find water, which will cut into their
learning time. Access to free, potable, and appealing drinking water in schools is important because
children spend substantial time in school settings, and students may come to school already
dehydrated (Pantel). This text explains the importance of having proper water fountains in school.
Students and faculty at Lawrenceburg High School need new water fountain, because it will be very
beneficial to the school as a whole.
OBJECTIVES
The objective of this research proposal is for Lawrenceburg HIgh School to receive functional water
fountains with notable water filtration system. New water fountains at Lawrenceburg High School
would be very beneficial. New water fountains with a better filtration system means water being
saved on the school budget, allowing students to get enough hydration, and being very troublesome

Carrie Reinhard asserts that women do not feel comfortable playing as hypersexualized female
protagonists in video games, because the video game industry provides characters modeling a
body they cannot achieve, more an object for the male gaze than female empowerment
(Reinhard. 6). Personally, seeing the sunflower with the big breasts did not encourage me to
feel empowered. I felt weak and insecure because of the stereotypes of women that are
illuminated within video games. Video games represent women as a typical damsel in distress,
whereas men are viewed as the hero (Brenick et. al. 3). Although, providing female protagonists
in video games were supposed to appeal to more women, it subsequently discouraged women
from playing video games. Video games do not only hypersexualize women. Although, researches
have noted for years that most video games target a male audience (Ivory. 2), the
hypersexualization of men in video games has taken a toll on their players (Greenberg et al. 3).
Mass media that display hypersexualized men, and women, such as video games, not only
encourages women to become anorexic, it encourages men to take steroids, or to excessively
exercise (Barlett et al. 1). Researchers, Barlett, and Harris conducted an experiment in which both
men and women were immersed within a video game, that depicted both women and men as

November 1, 2016 Risk Factors for Falls Among Geriatric Population Living in Nursing Facilities
Falls are a major problem in elderly population in the United States living in nursing facilities.
Statistics from Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) show that approximately
800,000 seniors fall each year and 1 in 3 of those will fall twice or one more time in a year.
(Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, 2012). Most falls are caused by a combination of risk
factors. The more risk factors a person has, the greater their chances of falling. Healthcare
providers can help cut down a person s risk by reducing the fall risk factors
(Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2012). Serious injuries have resulted from the falls
such as hip fractures, concussions, decreased cognitive and functional abilities, and increased risk
of death. The cost of treatment resulting from falls is rising each year. According to CDC,
adjusted for inflation, the direct medical costs for fall injuries are $31 billion annually. (Centers
for Disease Control and Prevention,2016). Those who do not suffer severe injuries live with fear of
falling so they restrict their activities, which lead to increased comorbidities.

Brand meaning makes people to anticipate a particular capability of a brand/product. Prior to the
year 2000 Dove differentiated (pg.no. 269 Kotler, Lane, 2008) itself from other soaps with its

The Ascent Of Money Summary
In The Ascent of Money Niall Ferguson gives an in depth historical look at money and finance. He
begins with ancient banking practices in ancient Mesopotamia, and finishes his book with his
predictions for the near future based on patterns that he sees. In the book he discusses the rise of
money and credit; the bondmarket; the stock market; insurance; real estate; and international
finance.
Niall Fergusson believes that finance and money was made as a necessity for urbanization and
development, but that every time there has been an international globalized system set up, that it
results in disaster. There has always been trade between people from different areas, but when it is
on a massive global scale it results in disaster. His premise is that the first true globalized economy
led to WWI, and that the United States is headed for a military showdown with China.
In the first chapter titled Dreams of Avarice: the Rise of Money and Credit discusses the origins
of money and credit and how it has come to help shape the modern economy. Fergusson says that
money had its origins in Mesopotamia as clay tablets which were recording transactions such as

Essay on Happiness and Social Status in Great Expectations
Charles Dickens uses his own opinions to develop the larger than life characters in Great
Expectations. The novel is written from the point of view of the protagonist, Pip. Pip guides the
reader through his life, describing the different stages from childhood to manhood. Many
judgments are made regarding the other characters, and Pip s views of them are constantly
changing according to his place in the social hierarchy. For instance, Pip feels total admiration that,
later, turns to total shame for the man who raised him, Joe Gargery. The primary theme in this
novel questions whether being in a higher social and economic class helps a person to achieve true
happiness. This idea is shown through Pip s innocence at the forge, visits... Show more content on

Pip does not tell Joe because he fears he will lose his companionship. In the future, Pip will
struggle with telling the truth because of the fear that society will think less of him. Later that
same day, the police are engaged in a search party to find the criminal. Joe and Pip accompany
them; although, they do not believe that he must be apprehended. Once Magwitch is taken into
custody, Joe and Pip both shed a tear. Pip s life at the forge is difficult due to Mrs. Joe s harsh
nature, but he is also surrounded by the goodness and love of Joe. He has been taught that humans
of all societal levels are important.
Pip is content at the forge until pompous Uncle Pumblechook, Joe s uncle, takes him to visit to
Satis House, for the first time, where he makes the acquaintance of Miss Havisham and Estella.
Satis House is dismal and devoid of life with the exception of Estella, in Pip s eyes. Estella is a
pretty, proud, and emotionless girl with who treats Pip badly yet still causes Pip to become
completely infatuated with her. The forge now makes Pip ashamed and embarrassed because a
coarse, common man could never spend an eternity with such a beauty. Pip is so confused about
Estella s insults intertwined with her flirting that all he really knows is that he is ashamed of his
social standing. Pip s love for Joe was shadowed by this embarrassment. #8230;I was ashamed of

Logistics, Management and Strategy
THE FUNDAMENTAL OF LOGISTIC MANAGEMENT AND STRATEGY
Xi Er Dang
Abstract
This paper provides a basic but fundamental understanding of logistic primarily based on the book
of Logistics Management and Strategy by Harrison and van Hoek. It will guide you through from
the basic definition and concepts to the different supply chain strategies that exist, as well as
providing a perception on the future logistic development. Explanation of principal terms like
logistic, supply chain management and supply network is discussed, and important logistic systems
like just in time, lean thinking and agile strategies are deliberated. Different ways of working
together within the supply chain is debated, where there are different ways of sharing ... Show more

(2004). The partners or suppliers which are near the source and thus the production until the focal
firm are referred to as upstream (buyer side) (Harrison and van Hoek 2005). In contrary to the
partners or first and second tier customers which deliver to the final end customer are referred to as
downstream (customer side). However, all partners are responsible of adding value to the end
customer in each process they conduct, where the process can be explained as transforming inputs
to outputs. (ibid.) Another term which is similar to supply chain is supply network, where both
terms describe the objective of serving the end customer through the linkage of different partners.
Harland et al.‟s 2001 study (cited in Harrison and van Hoek 2005, p.10) distinct the term
network and chain as following: network as a complex structure of cross linkages between
organizations, and chain as a simple step by step link of few organizations. Harrison and van Hoek
(2005) points out that the supply network should be looked at as a system where there must be an
understanding of how all process are interacting with each other on a dependent way.
Competing through logistics
Harrios and van Hoek (2005) describe four ways of creating logistic advantage in which they
contributes to the competitive advantages of the company. The first way is to compete through
quality where the symptoms of quality problems signify

Research Paper On Heat Stroke
Heat exhaustion is one of three heat related illnesses. It is the second most serious of these
illnesses, with heat cramps being the mildest, and heat strokes being the most serious. Heat
exhaustion usually occurs when someone is exposed to high temperatures and becomes
dehydrated. When experiencing high temperatures, the body sweat in order to cool itself off. If
it has to do this for long periods at a time, it will lose large amounts of fluids and eventually
become dehydrated. There are many signs that precede heat exhaustion. These are similar to
those of a heat stroke, but slightly less severe. The signs include nausea, dizziness, vomiting,
muscle cramps, feeling faint or fatigued, and heavy sweating. Some people are more likely to
experience heat exhaustion than others. This is because of certain conditions that worsen the
effects or make them more likely. One of these conditions is diabetes. One of the main reasons for
this is because hot temperatures can increase or decrease blood sugar levels, causing
hypoglycemia or hyperglycemia. This would worsen or even cause symptoms to start occurring. If
someone goes experiences heat exhaustion, it is important to get help right away. If they don t get
help in time, it could worsen and possibly turn into heat stroke. The first thing that you should do is
get out of the heat. Go somewhere cool... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Other times, you can recover by taking certain steps at home. Either way, it is important to take
further steps in order to stay healthy. It can take one to two days to recover from heat
exhaustion, so you should be extremely careful directly after. For the next week, or time period
directed by doctor, try to avoid excess excercise and exposure to high temperatures. It is helpful to
get fluid and electrlyte levels checked regularly, so that you can recover fully and not have the

Bodies Exhibit Essay
The Bodies Exhibition at the South Street Seaport in New York City is one of several exhibitions of
its kind around the world that was first displayed on August 20, 2005 in Tampa, Florida. Similar
exhibitions are showing in Vienna, Madrid, Buenos Aires, Barcelona, Cincinnati, Santiago, Prague,
Branson, Pittsburgh, San Diego, Las Vegas, Fort Lauderdale, Hartford, and Washington D.C. The
exhibit is unique, consisting of real human bodies in various forms of disembowelment. Each body
system was addressed in its own individual exhibit, starting with the skeletal system and progressing
through the muscular, nervous, circulatory, digestive, respiratory, urinary, and reproductive systems
plus an exhibit on fetal development. Healthy and diseased... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Through a little research on the internet, a website called Bodies Revealed informed me of the
process used to preserve the bodies, which is known as polymer preservation. The bodies that
are used first are embalmed according to standard procedures and perfused with a preserving
agent to prevent the normal tissue decay that takes place after death. After the body is
embalmed, a trained dissector prepares it, or a part of it, according to predetermined guidelines.
Because of the degree of difficulty involved in dissecting a full body specimen, it can take
several months to complete. If the dissector is working with individual organs, they can be
prepared much more quickly. After the dissection is complete, the specimens are thoroughly
rinsed in cold running water, which removes as much of the preserving agent as possible.
Rinsing a full body specimen can take up to one week to finish. After the rinsing, the specimen is
ready to be dehydrated. They dehydrate the specimens by placing it in acetone, which acts to
replace all of the tissue water present in the specimen. The specimen is then impregnated with a
mixture of liquid silicone polymer and a crosslinker. The polymer hardens during a curing process,
which leaves a dry, odorless specimen that doesn t decompose. I had the

Rise Of Humanity Dbq
Rise of Humanity The Renaissance was a period of discovery and somehow turned the world
upside down. The Middle Ages were dominated by the Roman Catholic Church with a focus on the
sinful man, few people owned land and most were illiterate. During the 1300 s, education started to
increase because improvements in farm production increased product, this allowed serfs and lords
to move to towns. The invention of the printing press spread the Renaissanceand humanist thinking
because books, bibles, and ect. were now available to common men. The Renaissance changed
man s view of the world in at least three ways: an emphasis on individualism, how one s life
should be lived and scientific discoveries. To begin with, the clearest reason of the break with the
tedious Medieval culture comes from the visual arts. To illustrate, images: Madonna Enthroned
Between Two Angels by Duccio di Buoninsegna, late 13th century, it shows Mother Mary on a
throne with the baby Jesus on her lap (Doc A). The Mother Mary and her child painting don t

In this case, an English play called Everyman introduced, For ye shall hear, how our Heaven
King Calleth Everyman to a general reckoning:* Give audience, and hear what he doth say (Doc
B). This medieval play focused on death, sin and the final judgment when God decides whether a
person is going to heaven or hell. This reflects Middle Ages perception that living on earth is
meaningless; it s afterlife that really matters. Although, Hamlet by William Shakespeare stated,
What a piece of work is a man... in apprehension like god! (Doc B). The passage from Hamlet, by
contrast, shows a man as somebody magnificent, not somebody simply doing time on Earth until
they die. Whereas in Everyman, people wait gloomily for God s verdict on the Day of Reckoning,
in the Shakespeare passage, man s ability to understand is like

Solomon Scale Model Essay
In my model, assessment of athletes, the coaches, and the parents is in constant motion. First, the
coach and consultant have to establish a trustworthy relationship and then as time progresses, each
assessment is more accurate and reliable.
At the beginning, middle, and end of the session, I suggest the coach and consultant use the
Solomon Expectancy Sources Scale to assess the athletes. Along with the knowledge they know
from their sound relationship with each athlete, the coach and consultant can make a more accurate
subjective assessment of each athlete.
The Solomon Scale is an assessment that allows one to asses 30 attributes (such as self discipline,
love of sport, communications, leadership qualities, handling pressure, confidence levels,
athleticism, reaction time, mental maturity, role acceptance, team chemistry, being a hard worker,
and receptivity to coaching, to name ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
How do my athletes conduct themselves in practice after a win or lose? What effort do they
produce in the last quarter of play? What about in the last quarter or inning and the score is
close? How about when the team is ahead by a large margin? What about when the team is
losing? Do they still give their best effort with a total focus on the moment to conduct the
process? If there is a difference between how they are playing based on the scoreboard, then the
athletes are focused too much on the outcome versus the process. How are the athlete s grades in
academics? Do they have goals and interests outside of sports? Is your team like a family living in
harmony or is there conflict among the players? How do the parents conduct themselves? Are they
always on your back complaining or are they supportive and let you do your job? Do they yell at

Positive Advantages Of Millennials Staying Home During...
Advantages of Millennials Staying Home during College
For all generations, including millennials, the majority of students seeking a post secondary degree
have the traditional college experience. The traditional college experience includes students that
live on campus in a dormitory. Millennials take longer than past generations to become
independent and reach adulthood because they are still living with their parents. Many positive
factors lead millennials to stay home: cheaper living expenses, less stress, and the ability to focus
on their education. There are also many advantages for millennials living at home for college over
millennials living in a dorm. Living at home allows students to focus on schoolwork instead of
maintaining a dorm or other distractions. Parents can teach their children responsibilities and aid
with their college work while they stay at home. While millennials who move out experience
independence at an earlier age, they pick up negative habits such as addictions that hinder their
chance of being successful. Millennials who live at home during college have a greater advantage
over students moving out because they will have superior education, financial security,
responsibility, and no harmful habits to become successful and prosperous individuals.
Additionally, millennials staying at home during college instead of living independently is an
advantage over living alone because these millennials will eventually become autonomous,
successful

Cultural Appropriation And Its Effects
Most things in life are not guaranteed. However, a few things are like taxes and cafeteria food
being of low quality. Students at Oberlin are complaining about the school s cafeteria food is
racist and cultural appropriation . Cultural appropriation is the act of taking another cultural group
s culture. In this case, it is from poorly made Asian foods like sushi and General Tso s chicken.
They claim that because these foods are poorly made, it is an insult to them and their culture. Most
people find this case to be absolutely ridiculous and use it as a way to prove that people can get
offended over anything.
The whole idea of cultural appropriation is taking culture from a marginalized group. This has
recently became a hot issue with the droves of Tumblr and their ilk. The main problem with the
people are fighting cultural appropriation is that it makes it so there is no right way to share
other people s cultures around. This is taken to the extreme in this case, it is ridiculous to say
that somebody is stealing culture when the food is poorly prepared. From the article, a Japanese
student was complaining about the quality of the sushi being prepared at the school and the lack
of fresh fish. Well, as a person who enjoys sushi I can easily say that an American school will
never be a good place for sushi. Especially a landlocked, tiny liberal arts school in Ohio. Quality
sushi is really hard to come by in Ohio, outside of specialized restaurants. That s not stealing

Romanian Orphanages
Romanian Orphanages
Imagine a hospital that, at one time ran smoothly helping the public, now with the primary
objection of taking care of the thousands of abandoned infants and children. This is the reality in
Romania when Nicolae Ceausescu was in power. In 1966 he created an Anti Abortion
/Contraception law in order to raise the population and achieve his ultimate goal to slowly take
over surrounding areas and increase Romania s power. The next plan of action was to open
orphanages, which caused an entire generation of mentally and physically handicapped children.
Now after more than four decades, the question is if they have made enough progression on this
horrific issue. Ceausescu s law included that each family that doesn t ... Show more content on

Ion Iliescu, former president of Romania created this law thinking that it is better for the children
to be in state run orphanages, foster homes or to be adopted domestically. One thing I m sure he
didn t take into consideration is the fact that most abandoned children are gypsies, most Romanian s
will not adopt a gypsy child. This means that until they open adoption internationally again, many
children will not be getting the loving homes they deserve. It s a shame because there are so
many people who want to adopt from there and can give those children a better home than they
could ever imagine in Romania. When I started writing this research paper, it was just another
assignment to get done but I learned so much and became passionate about the cause. I have
researched different groups and have decided to volunteer abroad in an orphanage. These kids
ask for nothing more than to feel secure and loved, something that most children take for granted
here in the U.S. everyday. I am leaning toward Projects Abroad to do my volunteer work because
they are a non religious group( Do International Volunteer Work with Children in Romania with
Projects Abroad. ). Most of the groups are Christian and I am not very religious so I chose not to
join those. Hopefully I will be going in the summer of 2010, I have to wait because the price to go
is around $3,000. The tragedy that had befallen Romania is not good but they have tried to improve

  • 2. The Film Hamlet By William Shakespeare The film Hamlet by William Shakespeare was made by two directors in two different versions which one was Kenneth Branagh and the other Franco Zeffirelli. By watching the four scenes of the play of the two versions, the viewer has come up to the conclusion that Kenneth Branagh s version best captures the essence of the play in terms of costume design, acting, directing, and cinematography. The directing and cinematography in Act IV, Scene V the Ophelia Madness Scene as well as the acting, costume design in Act V, Scene II the Final Scene showed that Branagh s version of the film Hamletis the most effective. Branagh s use of directing in Act IV, Scene V in the Ophelia Madness Scene helped best to present the scene in a most effective way. Ophelia has gone mad due to her father s loss, people have been suspicious and disturbed by the death as well. Laertes who is Ophelia s sister has come back from France with a mob of commoners who they call Laertes lord and people say that Laertes shall become king. He enters the hall with an eager ready to avenge his father s death, Claudius the king tries to calm him down by acknowledging that Polonius is dead. The director in Branagh s version provided a padded cell for Ophelia where it shows that she really has gone insane and when she entered the hall, began singing about chaos, death, and unsatisfied love. The clothes she was wrapped in demonstrates an excellent illustration of her madness because when the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. The Social Security Act Of 1935 And Medicaid Insurance There has been an increasingly large amount of awareness placed on the governments role in prevention and standards for the control of health care and communicable diseases. In this growing effort are provisions applying to long term health and stipulations for proper treatment and care. Gradually, a shift from local community efforts to care for the elder has transferred to a prominent government role. Several committees have been created to assist with the implementation and over view of care and acts to instigate change. Amongst the major changes that have been set in place effecting long term care, was the passage of the Social Security Act of 1935 and Medicaid insurance. Prior to the government s support with long term care and the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At this time, federal efforts began to assist with disabled and ill seamen. The Marine Hospital was founded to deliver federally funded care and began the materialization of the government s role in public health. As the government s role in public health remains, major changes have been put into effect, precisely dealing with long term care. Before the 1930 s, providing care for the elderly was exclusively a local and state run industry. However, after the great depression, a growing demand was placed on providing some type of insurance for that population. The Social Security Act of 1935 was established to assist with Federal old age benefits and was signed into effect by President Roosevelt on August 15, 1935. (Home, 2015) Another major impact to long term care has been the creation of Medicaid that went into effect in 1965 and was an amendment to the Social Security Act of 1935. Title XIX of the Social Security Act is a federal and state entitlement program that pays for medical assistance for certain individuals and families with low incomes and resources Medicaid is a collective effort between state and the government to help provide insurance for eligible citizens. Among those covered under this insurance, are the elderly, disabled and pregnant. Medicaid is the largest source of funding for medical care. The new changes to Medicaid are ongoing and will be put into effect as part of Obamacare. The Obama administration ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Essay On Racism And Stereotyping In World Of Warcraft Racism and Stereotyping in World of Warcraft: The inside look that the company doesn t want to admit too Massively multiplayer online games (MMOs) are played by millions of people around the globe, and by one in five Americans (Entertainment Software Association, 2015). Role playing games (MMORPGs) are a popular subcategory which lets gamers take on a new character, created for the digital world, to play the game. Three of the top five bestselling computer games in the US in 2014 were MMORPGs, and three of them were from the fantasy genre: Diablo III: Reaper of Souls, The Elder Scrolls Online, and World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor expansion pack. (Entertainment Software Association, 2015, p.11) World of Warcraft was the most played MMORPG, with more than 12 million active players and over 100 million accounts. While playing MMORPGs players are exposed to Racism and Stereotyping from the game itself down to the gamers playing the game. Research concerning race and video games usually focus on games set in the real world such as games like the Grand Theft Auto franchise. It shows that minorities are rarely represented, and that when they do appear the characters are usually racial stereotypes (Burgess, Dill, Stermer, Burgess, Brown, 2011). • 6. How Is Mendacity In Cat On A Hot Tin Roof Mendacity is untruthfulness and disgust is a feeling of revulsion by something. All the characters in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof have experienced mendacity and disgust. For mendacity, we had all but Big Daddy, Big Mama, and Brick lie about Big Daddy s sickness. They, as in Margaret, Mae, Reverend Tooker, and Gooper, said it was a spastic colon and not cancer, but it was truthfully malignant cancer (Brick did not know for a while that it was a lie). This is something that angers and disgusts Big Daddy when he found out from Brick by accident. It was something he was not expecting and resulted in his growing resentment for the others. They had told him something of mendacity and added on to the other lies he had experienced his whole life. He was disgusted with... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Disgust can be seen in Gooper also. When he learns that Big Daddy will most likely be giving his twenty eight thousand acre plantation to Brick, Gooper was appalled. Why should an alcoholic like Brick get an estate? Gooper was disgusted by learning that from Big Mama. Big Mama experiences mendacity when she had an argument with Big Daddy on his birthday. He tells her that he never loved her, that she never loved him, and that it was all just a lie. This also brought disgust to Big Mama because she could not comprehend it, which was why she left crying. Brick was a major character that experienced mendacity and disgust. Skipper and Brick had a clean and close friendship. The relationship Brick had with Skipper was something Brick was truly happy with. It ruined him learning that Skipper was a homosexual man and had slept with his wife one time. He felt disgusted with the mendacity found in their friendship. Skipper was untruthful by not telling Brick that fact and is why Brick felt disgusted. However, I believe that Brick ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Effect Of The Limiting Factor On The Speed Of... 4.3 Design physics: The limiting factor on the speed of an air gun, fire arm, or light gas gun is the speed of sound in the working fluid the air, burning gunpowder, or a light gas. This is essentially because the projectile is accelerated by the pressure difference between its ends, and such a pressure wave cannot propagate any faster than the speed of sound in the medium. The speed of sound in helium is about three times that in air, and in hydrogen 3.8 times that in air. The speed of sound also increases with the temperatureof the fluid (but is independent of the pressure), so the heat formed by the compression of the working fluid serves to increase the maximum possible speed. Spring piston airguns increase the temperature of the air in the chamber by adiabatic heating; this raises the local speed of sound enough to overcome frictional and other efficiency losses and propel the projectile at more than the speed of sound in the ambient conditions. 4.4 Impact profile: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Obviously, a dense, narrow projectile will apply more pressure overall than a light and wide one. Looking at constant cross sectional projectiles, researchers have recently begun to vary their projectiles density as a function of length. Since the projectiles travel at a known velocity, changes in density as a function of length have a predictable relationship to the impact pressure applied as a function of time. With materials in a wide range of densities (from tungsten powder to glass microsphere) applied in thin layers, carefully made projectiles can be used in constant pressure experiments, or even controlled compression expansion compression ... The Canterbury Tales teach the reader a life lesson through the telling of a story. The pardoner was full of greed and very money hungry. While the Wife of Bath was a old hag who just wanted loyalty and love from knight Arthur. The Pardoner and the Wife of Bath are both faced with decisions that could potentially end their lives. Loyalty and trust are expressed throughout the Wife of Bath. While the pardoner teaches greed and self indulgence is also a sin when that is all you care about in life. The Pardoner was a preacher who would travel from place to place and speak faith and hope into people. While the preacher would preach he would condemn people along with judge them. The Pardoner is a very wealthy man but he still makes the group of young Flemish people lather him food and fancy wines. The pardoner would rather take widows last dollar to put in his endless pockets rather than to give it to her to feed her starving children. The pardoner is told to find death... • 9. The Natural Environment How does the natural environment influence culture? There is a myriad of varying definitions for the word culture. Instead of defining culture in general terms, it is often defined by how it is related to the environment; and consequently, how it is affected. Culture provides direction, and reason. Throughout history, people have remained stalwart and true to their roots and traditions. However, it has become evident that, with the changing environment, many traditional practices have had to adapt. Climate change is a key component causing this adaptation. Through reflecting upon environmental relativism, and cultural aspects, such as subsistence patterns, economic systems, and religion and world view, it can be concluded that the natural environment influences culture by causing environment based traditions to mould to external factors. Environmental relativism can be defined as follows: the ways in which certain aspects of the physical environment are relevant to cultures and traditions. It is how the environment relates to a culture (personal communication, Kathy Rettie, September 7, 2017). The environment is an ever changing system; it often cannot be predicted. Climate change, such as warmer winters, rising sea levels, and changes in precipitation, provide evidence that the individuals affected by the physical environment must change their way of life to adapt. This is particularly true for many nomadic cultures, who base their survival off the changing weather ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Andrew Jackson Versus The Cherokee Nation, And Native... The U.S. Government used treaties as a way to displace Native Americans from their tribal lands, a mechanism that was strengthened with the Removal Act of 1830. In cases where this strategy failed, the government sometimes violated both treaties and Supreme Court rulings to ensure the spread of Americans westward across the continent. As the 19th century began, many Americans poured into the backcountry of the South and began moving toward and into what would later become the states of Alabama and Mississippi. Since Indian tribes living there appeared to be the main obstacle to westward expansion, white settlers motioned for the federal government to displace them. This phenomenon was described by authors Robert V. Remini, in his article Andrew JacksonVersus the CherokeeNation , and Chief John Ross, in his letter To the Senate and House of Representatives . They express the views of Andrew Jackson and the Cherokee Indians respectively. Author Chief John Ross wrote a letter to the senate in protest of the treaty of New Echota. A group of Cherokee claimed to be representatives of their people, agreeing to relocate past the Mississippi, even though 15,000 citizens opposed moving. This occurred at the Red Clay Council Ground, Cherokee Nation in 1836 and the Cherokee people didn t want to relocate, angry that the decision was made without their input. • 11. The Manhattan Project Essay The Manhattan Project was a very important event throughout the World War II history. It began the development of the atomic bomb and other nuclear weapons that were of good help during the war. It first began with a German scientist separating the uranium atom, which made people be scared of what Hitler might be capable of. Also Hitler and his people had begun discovering new types of weapons that were useful for them in the war. Something that apparently Hitler did not quite think about, was the persecution of Jewish scientists such as Albert Einstein, who could very well use his abilities against Hitler. It also grew up to 40,000 feet and damaged some of the homes near it that were 100 miles away. After this explosion President Truman, all the way from Postdam, Germany, declares that the project was successful. Later on we see how there were more bombings being made, not only this one at Trinity State. The United States was trying to make Japan surrender but they denied it. Because of this the United States developed a new bomb named little boy which was detonated in Hiroshima, Japan. On August 6, 1945 it exploded with an altitude of 1,750 feet. Over 69% of Hiroshima s buildings were destroyed and about 7% damaged. About 80,000 (or about 30%) of the people in Hiroshima were killed instantly and another 70,000 were injured. After this occurring, Japan still didn t want to surrender which caused the United States to develop another bomb. In August 9, 1945, the next bomb named Fat Man took place at Nagasaki, Japan. This attack destroyed about 44% of the city, killed about 35,000 people and about 60,000 were injured. Emperor Hirohito from Japan had enough of these bomb attacks and finally decided to surrender. As a slice of life movie, one scene stands out between separating Yoshi, the father, and his co workers. While the camera pans across an office of yawning workers, Yoshi is patiently waiting at his desk for something, like being called into his boss office. During his discussion with Mr. Iwasaki, his co workers criticize him for kissing up to the boss, by moving into the suburbs. Following this conversation, the camera slides the other way, showing all of the office employees busy at their desk, before abruptly cutting to the children in schooldoing the same thing. We ve built and moved into a new facility, been awarded a new staffing contract, seen people come and go, and transitioned over to an electronic health record. It prides me that we have been a model for growth and development. Many of you exemplify positive values that I believe make our work worthwhile. During our time together, I have advocated on your behalf and made decisions with focus toward what is best for our future and for this agency. We all recognize that change comes at a cost and that at each crossroad we have the opportunity to determine which road to follow. We can accept challenges, making them work to our benefit, or we can resist progress. For me personally, and as you probably have seen, I choose not to be held hostage by those who thwart efforts to maintain a positive and rewarding work environment. This said I also do my best to give others the benefit of the doubt, with hopes that others do the same in return. I have done this for many of you regardless of opinions or differing views and suggestions. Some of you can vouch for this as it has been at the expense of your own frustration. I ve spoken with each of you on numerous occasions about toxic effects of gossip and rumors. Previous administrators have done the same, even to the point of sending official documentation. • 17. Pros And Cons Of Hydraulic Fracking Hydraulic Fracking is a drilling method developed for the extraction of energy resources buried beneath shale formations located deep below the Earth s surface. The practice of vertical drilling has been safely performed for more than 50 years, but the recent development of horizontal drilling has exposed the practice to harsh scrutinization. Vertical drilling inserts pipe directly into the shale formations allowing for limited access to pockets of methane. The last 10 to 15 years has brought about the development of horizontal drilling, which allows drilling to be conducted with greater economic benefit. The process splinters shale formations horizontally, allowing the escape of larger amounts of methane. The methane travels through fractures and eventually is stored for transport. Proponents of hydraulic fracking contend the practice is safe, provides jobs, and is healthier for the environment than fossil fuels. Opponents postulate the practice pollutes the water table, is a health risk, is a viable danger to the climate, and causes earthquakes. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 18. Across The World, Peoples Of All Backgrounds Universally Across the world, peoples of all backgrounds universally recognize the need for morality and ethics in society and governance. Despite this, the exact moral codes that groups of people follow often vary from country to country, region to region, tribe to tribe and so on. This has created cause for many moral and ethical experts to adopt a view of subjective morality, or morality that varies from culture to culture. Despite the problems that immediately arise when exploring this view, including acts condemned in most parts of the world, such as sacrificial killings, rape, and genital mutilation, being considered moral based on a given society s accepting of it, subjective morality appears to have some truthfulness to it, as societies, do... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The phenomenon of apparent subjective morality is often explained by its proponents through the existence of different religious doctrine. The contrary of this, though, is quite true, as the inclusion of moral and ethical code in religion across the world, despite a singular unifying religion not being adopted by earth s societies, is an argument for an objective ethical code independent of societal interpretation. The mandate for some moral or ethical code in all religions is proof that such a code must exist in society, regardless of what that code may include. The adherence to different religions in different parts of the world introduces a variable to measure morality against, as religion is a social construct that creates different moral standards for a society to adhere to based on what religion it dominantly practices. By comparing the tenants of the worlds religions to each other, some basic tenant of objective morality can be established. If no shared tenants could not be found, then it would be proven that objective morality does not exist; this, however, is not the case. In examining shared tenants across religions, two basic, universal tenants can be discovered. These are self improvement (though through what means is generally dependent upon a specific religion) and general good will towards and treatment of one s fellow society members. ... They might say they want to lose a certain amount of weight or to stop drinking soda. According to Pollock though, that is not the correct way. In Pollock s words , A true resolutionshould be an addition to your life, should expand your horizons and help you grow as a person . Her view is that people should have three resolutions; one from the Health Lifestyle category, another from the Education/Practice category, as well as one from the Project/Task category. So my three New Year s resolutions for next year are washingmy face every night before bed, reading a bookI would not normally read at least once a month, and finally finding a job for myself. My first resolution will definitely be hard to achieve, especially every night. • 39. The Ascent Of Money Summary In The Ascent of Money Niall Ferguson gives an in depth historical look at money and finance. He begins with ancient banking practices in ancient Mesopotamia, and finishes his book with his predictions for the near future based on patterns that he sees. In the book he discusses the rise of money and credit; the bondmarket; the stock market; insurance; real estate; and international finance. Niall Fergusson believes that finance and money was made as a necessity for urbanization and development, but that every time there has been an international globalized system set up, that it results in disaster. There has always been trade between people from different areas, but when it is on a massive global scale it results in disaster. His premise is that the first true globalized economy led to WWI, and that the United States is headed for a military showdown with China. In the first chapter titled Dreams of Avarice: the Rise of Money and Credit discusses the origins of money and credit and how it has come to help shape the modern economy. Fergusson says that money had its origins in Mesopotamia as clay tablets which were recording transactions such as for agrarian. He also says that credit was given by a Mesopotamian family to people as far away as in Persia in order to purchase homes. I thought that that was very interesting. He then goes on to say that the early Christians were not allowed to practice interest or usury, but Jewish law allowed for the Jews to give loans to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The novel is written from the point of view of the protagonist, Pip. Pip guides the reader through his life, describing the different stages from childhood to manhood. Many judgments are made regarding the other characters, and Pip s views of them are constantly changing according to his place in the social hierarchy. For instance, Pip feels total admiration that, later, turns to total shame for the man who raised him, Joe Gargery. In contrary to the partners or first and second tier customers which deliver to the final end customer are referred to as downstream (customer side). However, all partners are responsible of adding value to the end customer in each process they conduct, where the process can be explained as transforming inputs to outputs. (ibid.) Another term which is similar to supply chain is supply network, where both terms describe the objective of serving the end customer through the linkage of different partners. Harland et al.‟s 2001 study (cited in Harrison and van Hoek 2005, p.10) distinct the term network and chain as following: network as a complex structure of cross linkages between organizations, and chain as a simple step by step link of few organizations. • 42. Research Paper On Heat Stroke Heat exhaustion is one of three heat related illnesses. It is the second most serious of these illnesses, with heat cramps being the mildest, and heat strokes being the most serious. Heat exhaustion usually occurs when someone is exposed to high temperatures and becomes dehydrated. When experiencing high temperatures, the body sweat in order to cool itself off. If it has to do this for long periods at a time, it will lose large amounts of fluids and eventually become dehydrated. There are many signs that precede heat exhaustion. These are similar to those of a heat stroke, but slightly less severe. The signs include nausea, dizziness, vomiting, muscle cramps, feeling faint or fatigued, and heavy sweating. Some people are more likely to experience heat exhaustion than others. This is because of certain conditions that worsen the effects or make them more likely. One of these conditions is diabetes. One of the main reasons for this is because hot temperatures can increase or decrease blood sugar levels, causing hypoglycemia or hyperglycemia. This would worsen or even cause symptoms to start occurring. If someone goes experiences heat exhaustion, it is important to get help right away. Through a little research on the internet, a website called Bodies Revealed informed me of the process used to preserve the bodies, which is known as polymer preservation. The bodies that are used first are embalmed according to standard procedures and perfused with a preserving agent to prevent the normal tissue decay that takes place after death. After the body is embalmed, a trained dissector prepares it, or a part of it, according to predetermined guidelines. Because of the degree of difficulty involved in dissecting a full body specimen, it can take several months to complete. If the dissector is working with individual organs, they can be prepared much more quickly. After the dissection is complete, the specimens are thoroughly rinsed in cold running water, which removes as much of the preserving agent as possible. Rinsing a full body specimen can take up to one week to finish. After the rinsing, the specimen is ready to be dehydrated. They dehydrate the specimens by placing it in acetone, which acts to replace all of the tissue water present in the specimen. The specimen is then impregnated with a mixture of liquid silicone polymer and a crosslinker. The polymer hardens during a curing process, which leaves a dry, odorless specimen that doesn t decompose. I had the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Middle Ages were dominated by the Roman Catholic Church with a focus on the sinful man, few people owned land and most were illiterate. During the 1300 s, education started to increase because improvements in farm production increased product, this allowed serfs and lords to move to towns. The invention of the printing press spread the Renaissanceand humanist thinking because books, bibles, and ect. were now available to common men. The Renaissance changed man s view of the world in at least three ways: an emphasis on individualism, how one s life should be lived and scientific discoveries. To begin with, the clearest reason of the break with the tedious Medieval culture comes from the visual arts. To illustrate, images: Madonna Enthroned Between Two Angels by Duccio di Buoninsegna, late 13th century, it shows Mother Mary on a throne with the baby Jesus on her lap (Doc A). Advantages of Millennials Staying Home during College For all generations, including millennials, the majority of students seeking a post secondary degree have the traditional college experience. The traditional college experience includes students that live on campus in a dormitory. Millennials take longer than past generations to become independent and reach adulthood because they are still living with their parents. Many positive factors lead millennials to stay home: cheaper living expenses, less stress, and the ability to focus on their education. There are also many advantages for millennials living at home for college over millennials living in a dorm. Living at home allows students to focus on schoolwork instead of maintaining a dorm or other distractions. Parents can teach their children responsibilities and aid with their college work while they stay at home. While millennials who move out experience independence at an earlier age, they pick up negative habits such as addictions that hinder their chance of being successful. Millennials who live at home during college have a greater advantage over students moving out because they will have superior education, financial security, responsibility, and no harmful habits to become successful and prosperous individuals. Additionally, millennials staying at home during college instead of living independently is an advantage over living alone because these millennials will eventually become autonomous, successful ... Students at Oberlin are complaining about the school s cafeteria food is racist and cultural appropriation . Cultural appropriation is the act of taking another cultural group s culture. In this case, it is from poorly made Asian foods like sushi and General Tso s chicken. They claim that because these foods are poorly made, it is an insult to them and their culture. Most people find this case to be absolutely ridiculous and use it as a way to prove that people can get offended over anything. The whole idea of cultural appropriation is taking culture from a marginalized group. This has recently became a hot issue with the droves of Tumblr and their ilk. The main problem with the people are fighting cultural appropriation is that it makes it so there is no right way to share other people s cultures around. This is taken to the extreme in this case, it is ridiculous to say that somebody is stealing culture when the food is poorly prepared. From the article, a Japanese student was complaining about the quality of the sushi being prepared at the school and the lack of fresh fish. Well, as a person who enjoys sushi I can easily say that an American school will never be a good place for sushi. Especially a landlocked, tiny liberal arts school in Ohio.
