Fred Hollows Significance in Promoting Change for...
Introduction
Good morning/ afternoon,
My name is Mary Doe and it is an honour to represent the Queensland Youth Parliament during
reconciliation week. This presentation will focus on Fred Hollows significance in promoting
change for Indigenous Australia. As you may well know Fred Hollows was an able advocate for
Indigenous health and focused much of his life on ending curable blindness among numerous
Indigenous communities.
Paragraph 1 Who is Fred Hollows and what were his main achievements.
Fred Hollows was born in New Zealand in 1929. He was not only a terrific ophthalmologist but
also a skilled surgeon and social justice activist, as he believed everyone was equal due to his
respectful and non judgemental family upbringing. Initially Fred wanted to work in the church but
later changed his mind to medicine after working in a mental health hospital. At the age of 22, he
started Medical school at the University of Otago and then in 1965 to continue his ophthalmologic
work.
Paragraph 2 Career beginnings
Fred started his medical career by attending the University of Otago Medical School in 1951, at
the age of 22. Fred held many different positions in his early career including being a medical
intern, a house surgeon and a clinician before specialising in Ophthalmology. After qualifying as an
ophthalmologist Fred worked all around New Zealand including Wellington Hospital, which was
the biggest in the country. After he moved to Australiain 1965, in the late 1960 s to

Essay on The Global Threat of Malicious Code
The Global Threat of Malicious Code
I. Introduction
Malicious code is Software or firmware intended to perform an unauthorized process that will have
an adverse impact on the confidentiality, integrity, or availability of an information system. 1 Today,
as ubiquitous computing is fast becoming a reality and information systems are becoming a part of
everything from mobile phones to cars, any threat to an information system represents a risk to
hardware, software, data, and the users that depend on their confidentiality, integrity, and
availability. This paper surveys the topic of malicious code by identifying malicious code,
discussing how social engineering is related to malicious code, describing its threats, listing ways

So they built a large horse and presented it to the Trojans as a gift, which the Trojans accepted.
Hidden inside the gigantic horse was a small army of Greek soldiers. During the night, the soldiers
dismounted and quickly gained control of key defenses, allowing the rest of the Greek army to
invade the previously invulnerable city of Troy. Just as in the myth, Trojan horseprograms allow
unauthorized users access to a computer system. While viruses and worms usually carry a
payload, Trojan horses usually do not. Payloads are the part of the malicious code that modify,
erase, or leak information from a system. They may also alter the state of a system, by displaying
a simple undesired screen or causing programs to crash or behave abnormally. The lifecycle of
viruses and worms is to infect as many systems or files as possible, and then to execute its payload
at a predetermined trigger. The trigger may be a time or system event. Trojans, on the other hand,
allow unauthorized, anonymous access to information systems. Another type of threat that is
becoming increasingly popular is malicious code hybrids. Hybrids use a combination of virus,
worm, and Trojan techniques; virus techniques for self replication, worm techniques for rapid
propagation over the Internet, and Trojan techniques for remote system compromise. Today,
hybrids represent a growing threat because of their increasing sophistication and multiple

Biological Branches Of The Complex Study Of Life
ABSTRACT Throughout history, there have been many studies conducted regarding different
biological branches of the complex study of life. Amylase, an enzyme that catabolizes starch
polymers, is one of the most important enzymes needed for the production of certain foods, such as
syrups, and different processes such as fermentation. Like everything s biological nature, these
certain enzymes are affected by different factors ranging from pH levels to temperature. Finding out
the temperature at which these enzymes reach their optimal condition (conditions at which these
enzymes work the best), is one of the most revealing studies of all. In this experiment, the affect that
temperature has on the enzymatic activity of Amylasewas the leading role, whether it was to
determine if it was slowing it down or speeding it up. For both experiments, iodine was used as the
control. First, the optimal temperatures of fungal Amylase were tested. For this particular task,
there was not too much changed noticed. For most of the temperatures, the activity change seen
was very minimal. With iodine and starchby itself, the activity remained the same as well as with
the amylase at the 85 degrees test. When testing for the bacterial Amylase, the most change was
seen at the 55 degrees test. Overall, it can be said that as temperature rises or decreases, enzymatic
activity is affected, but of course with a certain plateau.

Shoplifting Essay
Shoplifting When someone steals merchandise offered for sale in a retail store it is generically
called shoplifting. To commit shoplifting one must intend to permanently deprive the merchant of
the value of the merchandise. Shopliftingmost often occurs by concealing merchandise in a purse,
pocket or bag but can occur by a variety of methods. Most shoplifters are amateurs. However,
there are growing numbers of people who make their living by stealing from retail stores. Amateur
shoplifter can be highly skilled, and some steal almost every day, but don t do it to make a living.

Children and elderly persons sometime steal without realizing they are committing a crime. In
urban cities, it is not unusual to find a network of fences who send out teams of shoplifters into
specific retail stores to shoplift specific items, much like filling an order for a customer. The
fences only pay 10 20 cents on the dollar to the thieves and sometimes pay their room, board, and
provide training on how to steal and defeat the anti theft technology. Some fences have been
known to bail their workers out of jail when caught or provide for their legal defense. This creates
a kind of strange street loyalty much like the tale of Oliver Twist.
Theft from stores, including employee and vendor theft, cost retailers many billions of dollars per
year. Independent retail studies* have estimated theft from retail stores costs the American public
33.21 billion dollars per year. Depending on the type of retail store, retail inventory shrinkage
ranges from .5% 6% of gross sales with the average falling around 1.75%. Whole retail store
chains have gone out of business due to their inability to control retail theft losses. And worse yet,
the cost of these losses are passed on to us...the consumer.
Shoplifting losses will vary by store type, but can account for about one third of the total inventory
shrinkage. It is estimated that shoplifting

Cigarette Smoking around the World Essay
As of 2002, more than 430,000 people every year die from use of tobacco more than AIDS,
alcohol, drugs, abuse, car accidents, murders, suicides, and fires COMBINED ( Cigarette Smoking
2). Scary, isn t it? That even though cigarettes can cause that many deaths, people still smoke them?
Cigarette smokingis a serious problem in the United States. Especially when it is done in public.
Public smoking should be banned because it is a hazard to the people around.
Smoking comes with many problems. Not only for the smoker, but for the nonsmokers who are
exposed to the smoke. In 1993, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) classified second hand
smoke as a Group A carcinogen the most dangerous category of carcinogens. About 600,000 people

room for asthma attacks live with smokers, therefore are exposed to second hand smoke ( Effects

anything like a severe allergy attack, oh my gosh, those poor, poor children. Not being able to
breathe is so scary. Constantly being around a smoker and having asthma can be life threatening.
And very stressful. Always having to worry if the cigarette smoke will irritate the asthma. The stress

1 pack of cigarettes in Indiana costs $4.82 (Boonn 1). That s a fair amount of money nowadays,
especially with gas prices going through the roof. By not smoking for one week, a smoker who
smokes a pack a day would save about $33.74. That s how much it costs to fill a tank of gas! That
tank of gas could save a life by driving someone to the hospital for a heart attack. Besides the
famous and rich people, who has money to waste on cigarettes? Medical care from smoking costs
more than $50 billion annually and indirect costs exceed $50 billion ( Cigarette Smoking 2). Now
that s really a lot of money. I sure hope the person who has to pay that much money has some very

Analytical Analysis Of The Preface By C. Ellis
In the Preface, Ellis recreates the sense of urgency felt at the time of the Revolutionary War. Ellis
discusses how the founding members of the revolutionary generation secured their legacies through
battle and later though legislation. Ellis reminds the reader that our forefathers risked being hung
for treason. No other colony at that time in history had ever successfully won its independence to
form a lasting republic, thus the United Stateshad no basis to build upon.
Ellis supplements the reader with many of the different perspectives of the American Revolution.
Some of the revolutionary leaders thought in the long run that America had the potential to become
a unified nation. Others were more shortsighted; they just wanted to secede ... Show more content

The Jeffersonian tale claims that the nation formed a successful republic, only to fail at the hands of
the Federalists led by Alexander Hamilton. The other interpretation suggests that the Federalist
leaders created an inclusive government which was marred by the ideologies of Jefferson and his
associates. To this day, the debate between the dominant political parties remains, and can be traced
to this unsolvable conflict. Thankfully, the government was so overwhelmed by practical problems
that these issues did not cause a civil war.
Analysis
Ellis hopes to draw attention to the Founding Fathers as they really were: men of unique talent
caught in the crossfire of a revolution, but prone to mistakes as well as victory and success. Ellis
not only uncovers the truth of these seminal figures, but also reveals how their actions influenced
the course of history. Therefore, he focuses primarily on the players themselves, wishing to explore
how their relationships resonated through political changes.
Ellis wants the readers to realize the anxieties that these men actually felt at the time, when success
was not so assured. The chapters are linked both by Ellis pursuit of balanced truth and the

Economics, Political, And Union Leadership
Economics, political viewpoint, and union leadership were the primary reason the union won the
war. Although, Abraham Lincoln, committed to the preservation of the union, his leadership was
not the primary reason the north won. The union economy had an advantage to winning the war
over the south. The northern states had more money; which allowed them to increase their assets,
such as, their industries, technologies, as well as transportation. The North acquired their money by
raising loans and issuing bonds, as well as encouraging citizens and bankers to invest. Two thirds of
the money was from loans and bonds and one fifth by taxes. More importantly the Internal Revenue
Act (1862) brought in ten times more of the money than regular... Show more content on

Despite those loses the Union army was able to redeem themselves in the battle of Fort Henry and
Donelson and Shiloh. Their manpower and their economic advantage showed in all three of the
important battles favoring the Union winning the war. Although, President Lincoln was focused on
winning the war, he was able to pick good generals to lead the armies; however he was not mainly
focused on the political aspects of the war. Lincoln came into office as President with little
administrative experience. Whereas Davis, Confederate president, had military and administrative
experience could use both to his advantage. Lincoln, having an analytical mind, was able to master
the military strategy for the war. This made him more involved in the military aspect of the war and
not the political or economic matters which was left to Congress. After his inauguration as
President of the United States on March 4, 1861, Abraham Lincoln warned the South that secession
was illegal under the Constitution and would declare war against the rebelling states if deemed
necessary. Once the war began Lincoln was always fearful of the threat of southern sympathizers
so, he suspend the writ of habeas corpus the right of prisoners to a trial. Due to his little experience
with administrative aspects thought this would be okay; to

The Ethics Of Animal Testing

Animal Testing
Animal testing dates back all the way to Greek physician scientists like Aristotle and Erasistratus.
Greek scientist conducted experiments to understand the anatomy, physiology, pathology, and
pharmacology just like our scientists do today. The moral ethics of animal testing has always been
questioned, but many cures and treatments have been found due to animal testing discoveries.
Animal testing is necessary for humankind s overall well being, as well as today s society s
advancement to further the knowledge of the medical field.

(Hajar) His experiments paved the way for the advancement in the medical field, also for other
scientist to continue discovering that animals can be used to find out more things about human
body, like finding cures and treatments with the help of animal testing. His success is a great
example of how much animal testing can benefit humankind s well being. Another huge
discovery that is talked about every year in science class around the globe is Louis Pasteur s
Chicken Cholera Anthrax vaccine. This vaccine was discovered with animal testing. If no testing
was done Anthrax would still be taking thousands of lives today.(Sun) Numerous diseases have
been cured or found treatable due to animal testing like Smallpox, which has been eradicated from
the earth as well as Polio. Vaccines for Tetanus, Rubella, and Rabies all have been created due to
animal testing. So many treatments that humans take for granted all are possible with the help of
animals. Not only have humans been benefited from animal testing but the veterinary world has
also advanced. Animals life span and overall health care has greatly improved. The vaccines for
Rabies, Distemper, Tetanus, Parvovirus and other illnesses have all benefited the health of all kinds
of animals. For example, cats now have the treatment for Feline Leukemia.

Legal Systems Of The English Legal System
The term common law is the name given to legal systems who embrace the English legal system.
Originally, it was created as a case law, judge made centered system. It set out to focus on legal
principles, which were created by judicial verdict. However, over time the body of the legal
principles matured from the courts, as now, when a judge handles a case, they have to set out to
establish what the facts are proceeding the case, and how to determine how the law applies to
those facts. When making a verdict of how the law applies to set of facts, a system of precedent
will be emplaced. In turn, the courts will form a hierarchy, this is because findings of the higher
courts bind the lower courts together, thus, meaning that they will both be required to apply the
same doctrine of law as the higher court when confronted with similar cases. (The Open University,
2015, p.5)
In common law, the distinctive feature is how it represents the law of the courts in judicial
verdicts. This is because the grounds for disputing cases are found in precedents given by past
accord. However, another feature of common law would be the doctrine of the suprecemy of the
law, this means that acts of government bodies are subject to inquiry in typical legal proceedings.
The latin phrase of stare decisis (let the decision stand) is used in Judicial precedents, which in turn,
means that the earlier verdicts of the highest court in the jurisdictions, as therefore binding on all
other courts. (The

Evaluation Of The Network Services
1.Goal
Going forward with lab 2, the focus was placed on core services seen on enterprise networks,
what they do to keep the network running efficiently, and how to centrally monitor them. Some of
these services (DNS and DHCP) were review from what was learned in the Network Services
class, but by taking the basic concepts and applying them to an already running network instead of
creating a new environment specifically to test them, students learned valuable lessons on how to
integrate important services into an already thriving network. At the end of lab 1, all virtual
machines set up were given a static IP address which could be marked down in the wiki and
referenced by other machines if needed, such as the Opsview software which needed to know
the location of the other machines for monitoring purposes. With DHCP and DNS now in place,
the focus of how to locate resources on the network was moved from logical IP addressing to
that of domain names. DHCP is now dynamically giving out any address within its given range
(a pool from our subnet), and it might not always be the same every time, meaning two things
had to change. The first is reservations on the ISC DHCP server so that the same address is
given out to systems already in place based on what their static addresses were previously, and the
second is letting resolver software on the virtual machine s query the new DNS server for the IP
address of a VM, rather than someone having to lookup what the address of the

The Pros of Employment for Ex-Cons Essay
The Pros of Employment for Ex Cons
In the last thirty years the crime rate in the United States has decreased, but the number of people
incarcerated has increased because longer minimum sentences and stricter requirements for parole
have been established. Offenders serve longer prison sentences that lead to a variety of
employment related barriers to overcome after release (Bracey 253). In the State of Nebraska, ex
offenders find little help when searching for employment. On the Department of Correction s
website, the mission statement reads,
The mission of the Department of Correctional Services is to serve and protect the public by
providing control, humane care, and program opportunities for those individuals placed in its

Employment, or lack there of, is said to be one of the top two factors in recidivism (Agan Mencl;
Pannkuk). Recidivism has become a nationwide problem, and many are looking for ways to reduce
its rate (Bracey 253).
Ex offenders have a hard time finding long standing, good paying employment because of the
barriers they face. One of those barriers is a lack of skills needed to gain employment (Holzer,
Raphael, and Stoll 4 5). Many offenders are both undereducated and unemployed when they enter
prison, and while in prison, often fail to gain adequate education or skills because there are no
resources offered to acquire these skills (Smith). Also, employers fear hiring ex offenders
because of their criminal past. John Rakis, who wrote, Improving the Employment Rates of Ex
Prisoners Under Parole, says many employers have a prejudice, against hiring an ex offender
(Rakis 8). Along with employers being wary of a criminal past, ex offenders also have large
gaps in their employment history, as a result of the time served in prison. These gaps cause ex
offenders to appear as undependable employees, and employers become hesitant of hiring the ex
offenders (Bracey 253). Richard Coley and Paul Barton, who jointly wrote, Locked up and Locked
out: An Educational Perspective on the U.S. Prison Population, say, Employers value experience
and continuity of work history (Coley and Barton 30). When an offender has spent a significant

Healthy Aging In Canada
Aging is inevitable, with age comes certain conditions, and diagnoses that affect healthy aging in
Canadians. In Canada, and across the world, there are institutions that help care for people with
these diagnoses. Nurses are one of the members of the health care team, and they help to try and
reduce risks that can exist in agingCanadians. The purpose of this paper is to explore the risks of
malnutrition in aging Canadians living in institutions who have vascular dementia. Malnutrition
and vascular dementia are serious conditions that do not develop overnight, therefore there are signs
and symptoms to recognize this risk before it escalates. The signs of dementia including

A nurse in an institution could use Bevis when implementing the interventions, for example in the
first intervention, helping the resident identify cutlery, show them how to use it, this demonstrates
teaching. (McMahon, 2009). The second intervention is changing the colour of the plates, this
uses problem solving because when the resident is getting distracted then the implementation of
colours can draw attention to the food. (McMahon, 2009). Lastly the third intervention about
trying to talk to the resident s when they walk away from a meal uses the Bevis nursing tool,
communication. Communicating to the resident helps bring attention to back to the meal
(McMahon, 2009). When implementing interventions there are barriers that must be overcome
in order to make them effective. For the first intervention dealing with helping them use cutlery,
a barrier can be time. This can be an issue because care providers may not want to spend the time
to properly teach the resident and want to do it themselves so that it is faster, it is important that
the nurses be supportive and patient (McGinley, 2015). The second intervention about the
coloured plates can have issues arise regarding money. If it is easier and more affordable for an
institution to only have one colour plates, then having special plates for residents with vascular
dementia could be a challenge. To overcome this, having the family bring in coloured plates if
they are able to could resolve this problem (McGinley, 2015). Lastly, having a nurse sit with a
resident with vascular dementia for the duration of the meal to stop their wandering could be a
challenge because it is unlikely that an institution would be able to have health care professionals
give their complete attention to only one resident. A way to over come this could be to sit a couple
of residents

Joseph Stalin Animal Farm Essay
In the Novel animal farm by George Orwell he tells a story about a farm that is taken over by
animals, an allegory of the Russian revolution. In this essay I will show how Napoleon
represents Stalin and what he did during the Russian revolution. When Lenin/Old Major died
there was a power struggle for control between Trotsky/Snowball and Stalin/Napoleon. Trotsky
was a very smart strategist while Stalin was a simple yet effective leader. While not as smart as
Trotsky he was a very effective politician. Stalin thought that Russia was far behind the rest of the
western world. He devised a 5 year plan to get Russia up to speed with the rest of the world. This
is similar to how Napoleon built the windmill. Stalin also created a centralized agriculture... Show

In Animal Farm Napoleon he took credit for the Battle of the Cowshed. When the other Animals
disputed that Napoleon had Squealer tell them that they remembered incorrectly. This is like how
Stalin took credit for the battle of Tsaritsyn. Stalin and Napoleon both led their people by fear.
An example of this in Animal Farm was when the young pigs protested Napoleon being in charge
but suddenly the dogs sitting round Napoleon let out deep menacing growls, and the pigs fell
silent and sat down again. Another thing these two leaders shared was their goal to keep
themselves in power. They both got rid of their enemies by setting up false trials and getting them
to admit to crimes they did not commit. Stalin eventually started trading with the western
countries. Napoleon also began trading with the other, neighboring farms run by humans. Stalin
makes a non aggression pact with Hitler. This is mirrored in Animal Farm where Napoleon makes
an agreement with Mr. Frederick. Hitler eventually attacks Stalin, and in Animal Farm Mr.
Frederick blows up the windmill. You should now be able to see the similarities between these
two people. Both of these people were cruel and selfish, taking power when they got the
opportunity to. Their leadership style was not intelligent but was very effective, utilizing the fear of
their people to stay in

when he realises that that was the wrong phial. We know that this is true as the scientist says, it is a

The two characters in the story who are set on big ideas are the
Scientist and the anarchist. The scientist is pompous and idealistic and likes the sound of his

Comparison Of The Sabines, Titian s Rape Of Europa
Poussin s Rape of the Sabines, Titian s Rape of Europa, or other paintings depict an assailant,
commonly a Greek or Roman god or hero, raping a female in a beautiful and heroic love manner.
This type of image also viewed as a heroic rape, has always received considerable attention. Initially
from Greek mythology, the story of Castor and Pollux is an anecdote of the great twin brethren
interested in two beautiful daughters, Phoebe and Hilaeira, as their wives. Disregarding the fact
that these girls were betrothed to their cousins Lynceus and Idas, they carried the girls off to Sparta.

tension with the male figures. Ruben renders the soft face maidens in such a manner that they do
not energetically resist the male figures. Although these characteristics correspond with the
mythological scene that is taking place, this new interpretation also seems to have more
psychoanalytical significance as well. Sigmund Freud expressed and refined the concepts of the

Background or Introduction
Hospital acquired infections are a big problem today, but the use of disinfectants by the medical
staff can help to avoid or limit such exposures to pathogens. The authors main purpose of this
research article was to educate and teach the importance of hand hygiene and test the reason why
certain virucidal hand rubs result in poor compliance due to the poor tolerability of the products.
The overall goal with the study would to show the reason certain hand rubs are not being used and
how to improve their formula to increase compliance. The article written by the author was very
well written with a thorough abstract. The study was very easy to follow and read, due to the well
thought out structure of the article. The authors introduction starts out by stating the approximate
amount of hospital acquired infections in the European Union and why hand sanitizers play an
important role to avoid such infections. The introductions statement showed the importance of the
topic. Although some of the results were complicated and confusing, the discussion laid out the
results in layman

EHR In Healthcare
The implementation of electronic health records (EHRs) in the hospital is very complex and
requires detail planning. Recognizing organizational and technical aspects of the EHR is crucial
matter because those factors affect the outcome of the implementation directly and indirectly. The
culture of an organization and its structure, the building block of the organization (infrastructure),
money, management, and human skills play a major role in the implementation phase of EHRs in an
acute care setting (Boonstra, Versluis, Vos, 2014). The EHR implementation in the hospitals would
be more challenging compared to outpatient settings because confidentiality, safety, security and

Planning encourages innovations is basically a decision making function which involves creative
thinking and imagination that ultimately leads to innovation of methods and operations for growth
and prosperity of the company.
Types of Planning
There are many types of planning, but the most important for our course are:
Business plan The business plan is to achieve these goals. It may also contain background
information about the organization or team attempting to reach those goals.
The business plan are the most important for a business success, its essential to make the company

Economic planning
Economic plan is related to any direction and planning of economic activity outside of market
mechanisms.

Cutting Vs Circumcision
On the two stories from the reading 25 and 26, we can find two sides connections, as I find a
different situation between male circumcision and female genital cutting. These two topics show
a different relation just on the fact that male circumcision is a procedure for a safety matter in or
a protection against STDs and HIV, but referring to (Darby, 273) I quote this line Laumann found
that circumcised men had more STDs, and the United States reports an HIV incidence six time

STDs but this actions that families make to their kids at a younger age is just for the matter of
safety knowing that is not going to protect them from any type of sexually

Mark Twain Rhetorical Analysis
Mark Twain was described to be anything and almost everything except for politically correct.
People say that Twain wrote to be controversial, his literary pieces left you enraged, confused, or
combative. Nevertheless, his views and perspectives were still respected. Twain grew up in the
rural back wood area of Missouri, known as a slave state at this time. His father was a widely
respected judge, and his uncle, John Quarles, was a slave master. Quarles owned over 20 slaves,
providing Twain with a personal experience to the practice and institution of slavery. This provided
Twain the opportunity to build a self defined definition and perspective on the institution of slavery.
This explains why the discussion of the assumingly racist perspective... Show more content on

One argument made by people who fully support Mark Twains novel, Huckleberry Finn, say that a
man who pay for a black man s education and feels that slavery should have never been okay,
could not possibly have written a racially offensive novel. (Marx)
Throughout my research I discovered Twain s joy behind the challenging of the ideas of racism
within his writing. He wanted to be known for his perspective and controversial issues. For
example, in his book Pudd nhead Wilson, Twain is left with the question on whether or not white
or black people were different from each other, rather than by skin color. Again in the year 1957
when the National Association for The Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) confronted
Twain on the offensiveness of his novel. Public school systems and parents felt it should not be
used in a integrated school systems.
What you find in Twain is the backwards: an eager warmth and reverence for dull Americans
that began when he was still a child and turned out to be reliably as the years advanced. In a by
and large idolized post Civil War sketch titled A True Story, for occasion, he wrenchingly evoked
the torment of an ex slave as she was secluded from her young tyke on the deal piece, and her
elation at discovering him in a dull regiment at war s

Understanding Cannabinoids And Their Effects
Understanding Cannabinoids
Join us (and the rest of the world) in somewhat understanding cannabinoids and their effects.
Understanding cannabinoids as a layman seems to be only slightly less confusing than
understanding them as a scientist. That s not entirely true, but we are talking about a system within
the human body with who knows how many receptors and we ve identified exactly two in the last
twenty years. Which is great, because new science is fun, and the concept of understanding
cannabinoids is definitely new science.
What are cannabinoids?
Cannabinoids are compounds that produce the effects experienced from ingesting Cannabis.
There are four types of cannabinoids recognized by the National Institutes of Health:
* Phytocannabinoids include all of the plant material (leaves, stem, seeds, etc.)
* Endocannabinoids are cannabinoids that are produced by the human body
* Synthetic cannabinoids are chemical imitations
* Purified natural occurring extracts are attempts to isolate cannabinoids
The discovery of endocannabinoids led to the identification of an entire system in the human body,
comprised of lipids, receptors, and enzymes. The endocannabinoid system is responsible for a host
of physiological processes that rely on the interactivity of cannabinoids and their receptors. Since
their discovery and cloning in the early 90s, the CB1 and CB2 receptors are still the only receptors
that have been identified in the endocannabinoid system. The location of a

Disadvantages Of Grocery Shopping
Today, consumers have countless options on where to get their groceries. They can go to a
traditional retailer like Kroger and Albertson s, who are currently in the lead with $103B and

increasingly turn to the internet for their grocery shopping (source). The amount of options can
be overwhelming, with 38,441 supermarkets in the United States alone, supermarkets being
grocery stores with sales of $2MM+ annually (source). In addition to the supermarkets, there are
212,000 traditional food stores selling $571B in retail food and nonfood products in 2011 alone
(source). Architectural innovations that have allowed e commerce to take off are also
disrupting the food commerce industry as more people, specifically millennials opt to do their
grocery shopping online. Today, 23% of Americans are buying good online, a number expected

sales represented $7B in sales in 2015, a number predicted to hit $100B by 2025, an upward
trend that is only predicted to increase as shown in Figure B (Source). Convenience is a large
factor in the popularity of online grocery shopping, with 74% of consumers saying that it s the

Femme Fatale Rhetoral Analysis
For the Rhetoric in Practice project, I created an online website called learn2femmefatale, which
looks at the basics of being a Femme Fatale. Following the idea behind a mensfitness.com article
on doing a workout, the website had to follow genre convention of the website and the Femme
Fatale. The focus of the website is towards women between the ages of 18 and 55. For website
conventions, an HTC blog talks about the basic website genre conventions, which require a Logo in
the top left, an easy navigation, and clearly defined buttons and links. Keeping with these
guidelines, I researched Femme Fataletraits and following the mensfitness web site, was listed out
in concise sentences that explained the different parts. John Blaser talks about the main points to
the femme fatale, describing, She exudes a unique sexuality, which she uses to define herself and
manipulate men . I chose noir color scheme for the website. The age of Film Noirwas a time of
female empowerment, helps reach out to women looking to break free. I also included famous
actresses in their roles of playing various types of femme fatale. This provides examples for the
female target audience to follow as well known role models that succeed in their roles. Finally,
visual examples of what a Femme Fatale look like are weaved into the website. This helps cement
ideas about the audience should be aiming for, while makes it easier to see the noir, and implied
strength of becoming a femme fatale. Following these

The Socratic Citizen
Assignment I: Is Socrates a good citizen? Discuss with reference to the Apology and the Crito.
The Socratic Citizen
Plato s Socrates is a character plagued and prized with contradictions. He professed to care for
nothing so much as virtue and human excellence but was incriminated by the greatest and most
open democracy in ancient history. He was wrongfully convicted, yet unwilling to avoid his unjust
execution. He is at once the most Athenian, citizenly, patriotic, and other regarding of philosophers
and yet the most critical and self regarding of Athenians. In exploring that contradiction, between
Socrates the loyal Athenian citizen and Socrates the philosophical critic of Athenian society,

He presents himself as a human being of unparalleled piety and devotion who will risk life itself
rather than abandon the duty that has been given to him.
Socrates claims to be a selfless benefactor of the polis in that he had exhausted his private
resources in the pursuit of the public good (23b c, 30a, 31a c). Because he does what is good for
his fellow citizens for whom he feels regard despite the danger to which this exposes him,
Socrates claims to be a benefactor of the Athenians. He refers with pride to his record of military
service and underlines that it was service to the democracy: When the commanders that you
elected to command me stationed me at Potidaea and Amphipolis and Delion, I remained there
like anyone else, and ran the risk of death (28e). He is an honorable citizen who disregards death
and preaches that The difficulty, my friends, is not to avoid death, but to avoid unrighteousness;
for that runs faster than death. He has demonstrated that he is, by his own right, a patriotic citizen
who cares deeply about the good of his polis and one who consistently acts in what he sees as his
city s best interests; but he has also shown also that, in light of his own definition of patriotism,
Socrates must be regarded as a uniquely patriotic Athenian.
Unlike the Apology, the Crito seems intended to exhibit the character of Socrates in one

This quote is directed towards the Emmet Till murder that happen in Mississippi. The boy

Comparing The Stereotypes Of The Gibson Girl
United States is the creator of many of the beauty stereotypes that are active until now such as
Barbie doll, Disney s princess and others. The first American stereotype was the Gibson Girl. It
was created by an American illustrator Charles Dana Gibson. The Gibson girl was the idea of
perfect women in the early XX century until the First World War.
The illustration had appeared in popular magazines, it not only had showed physical ideas, and it
also had represented the behavior and the social status of the perfect American women in that time.
Gibson girls had portrayed the new woman a women who was educated, taking advantage from the
access that women obtained to have secondary and college education; a woman who had more
independence.
The Gibson girl was illustrated like a Caucasian woman, tall and slim with a body in S shape
helped by the corset. The facial features were big eyes and a tiny mouth and nose. The hair also
was very iconic, Gibson girls wore their hair swept up into a twisted bun called chignon showing
the neck. This illustration had represented a woman in an upper social status, elegant and

Culture, Symbols, Language, Cultures And Culture Of Cuba
Culture is made up of different elements; symbols, language, values and norms. Every culture has a
different perspective of the way individuals should lead their lives. Cuba is known for its cultural
diversity that is made up from Spanish, African, French and Asian influences. Cuba is located in the
northern Caribbeanwhere the Caribbean Sea, the Gulf of Mexico, and the Atlantic Ocean meet. Cuba
only shares its borders with only one country, which is the United States. The official language
spoken is Spanish. Cuba s flag is a very significant symbol to its people, Cubanos. Specifically,
the three blue stripes represent the sections the Island was divided into, the two white stripes
suggest the purity of the intentions for the people s independence, while the equilateral triangle
stands for freedom, equality and fraternity, as France was once advocating as well. The red color
stood for the blood that would be shed in order to claim the independence; with the white, single
star as symbol of absolute freedom among its people (insightcuba, 2017). Additionally, the
Toroco bird is another symbol that is a very representative bird because it has the colors of the
Cuban flag; red, white and blue. The Cuban Coat of Arms is the official heraldic symbol of Cuba.
It consists of a shield, supported by an oak branch on one side and a laurel wreath on the other
which represent, strength and honor. To add on, the golden key symbolizes Cuba s position

Assess the Argument That Is Neither Possible nor Desirable...
Assess the argument that is neither possible nor desirable to use experiments in social research
Experiments are a scientific procedure which is used to test a hypothesis. There are two different
types of experiments which are available to the researcher, these are laboratory and field.
In laboratory experiments all variables are under the control of the researcher, the researcher will
obtain their results from taking two groups which are identical. One group will be the control
group and the other will be the experimental group. The researcher will then alter the independent
variable in the experimental group to see if the variable that the researcher is investigating changes

This therefore, makes laboratory experiments appear to be not possible to conduct in regards to
social research.
Additionally, laboratory experiments in social research can cause the Hawthorne effect which can
reduce the validity of the research and also make them seem undesirable. The Hawthorne effect is
when the presence of a researcher changes the behaviour of the group that is being studied. The
participants are not showing their true behaviour and one reason why they may be altering their
behaviour when in the presence of a researcher is because they think that they have guessed what
the researcher is studying and therefore wants to help them with their research by acting in the way
that they think the researcher wants to see. Their assumptions though are not always correct.
Field experiments are those conducted in the real world and under normal social conditions, but
following a similar procedure to the laboratory experiments. Participants in this experiment do not
normally know that they are being studied in an experiment; this therefore eradicates the
Hawthorne effect, but causes another undesirable outcome as it causes a problem with getting
consent. Interpretivists are typically interested in using field experiments as they want to know how
meanings and labels can get attached to different people and then how others then view them.

Essay On Fourier Analysis
In numerical analysis, explicit and implicit approaches are used to obtain numerical approximations
of time dependent ordinary and partial differential equations. Fractional order differential equations
are used widely for finance market analysis. Implicit solution methods require more computational
efforts and are complex to program. In order to overcome these difficulties, explicit method for
fractional order differential equationhas been introduced which is one of the most recently
developed areas in the world of finance. The main aim of this paper is to investigate stability of
Fractional Explicit method for qth order time fractional Black Schols equation by the well known

Nonverbal Communication Involves The Processes Of Encoding...
Nonverbal communication involves the processes of encoding and decoding. Encoding is the act of
generating the information such as facial expressions, gestures, and postures. Decoding is the
interpretation of information from received sensations from previous experiences. Nonverbal
communication between people is communicationthrough sending and receiving wordless cues.
It includes the use of visual cues such as body language, distance and physical environments
/appearance and of touch. It can also include chronemics and oculesics. Even eye contact and the
actions of looking while talking and listening, frequency of glances, patterns of fixation, pupil
dilation, and of course blink rate.
Just as speech contains nonverbal elements known as paralanguage, including voice quality, rate,
pitch, volume, and speaking style, as well as prosodic features such as rhythm, intonation, and
stress, so written texts have nonverbal elements such as handwriting style, spatial arrangement of
words, or the physical layout of a page. However, much of the study of nonverbal communication
has focused on interaction between individuals, where it can be classified into three principal areas:
environmental conditions where communication takes place, physical characteristics of the
communicators, and behaviors of communicators during interaction. Only a small percentage of the
brain processes verbal communication. As infants, nonverbal communication is learned from social
emotional communication,

INJUNCTIONS
In the first place, that the members are entitled to hold a registered company to its registered
objects has been recognized long since. Hence whenever an ultra vires act has been or is about to
be undertaken, any member of the company can get an injunction to restrain it from proceeding
with it. In this case the House of Lords observed that the doctrine of ultra vires, as it was explained
in the Ashbury s case, should be maintained. But it ought to be reasonably and not unreasonably
understood and applied and that whatever may fairly be regarded as incidental to the objects
authorized ought not to be held ultra vires, unless it is expressly prohibited.
Accordingly in London County Council V Attorney General , the council having statutory power to
work tramways was restrained from running omnibus in connection with tramways. The court found
that the omnibus business was in no way incidental to the business of working tramways, and
therefore, could not be undertaken although it might have materially contributed to the ... Show

To put it in other words, that ultra vires contract is void and without any legal effect, which may
cause hardship to innocent persons who are unaware with the capacity of the company to enter in

Railway Carriage Iron Co. V Riche , concluded that an ultra vires contract being void abinitio

The incapacity of the company to make contract sometimes caused great injustice and hardships to
the person who had no knowledge of such incapacity of the company. For example, in Beauforte

Engel V. Vitale Court Case Summary
Engel v. Vitale Court Case (10 minute podcast)
Intro about 10 ten years ago, in the year 1951,the New York Board of Regents approved a Quote
nondenominational prayer . It was 22 words long and The blandest of invocations read as
follows: Almighty God, we acknowledge our dependence upon Thee, and beg Thy blessings
upon us, our teachers, and our country. voluntary prayer for recitation at the start of each school
day. A group of parent in New Hyde Park, New York Steven Engel was a parent in New Hyde
Park, New York. He and a group of other parents objected to the daily speaking of the prayer, even
though it was voluntary, at the start of each school day. Steven Engel and his group of supporting
parents sued William Vitale, the president of the local school board. The parents reasoning was that
this optional prayer didn t align with the views of the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment
of the United States Constitution. The 1st amendment says Congress shall make no law respecting
an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of
speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the
government for a redress of grievances. The establishment clause states quote, Congress shall make
no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof. Originally,
the Establishment Clause was only added to the Constitution to keep the federal government from
establishing a national religion. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Altar Of Zeus From Pergamon
Power is an ideal that many strive for, and few achieve, and there is no more obvious a
demonstration of power, than besting someone in a battle. The Altar of Zeus from Pergamon,
Turkey exemplifies that power. Created around 175 BCE it used to stand on a platform,
surrounded by columns which were no doubt as imposing as the scenes of the sculptures. It is a
narration of the gods and goddesses defeat over the giants, and victory in battle is nearly
synonymous with power. The gigantomachy frieze depicts a scene in which Athena is holding
Alkyoneos down in subjection by his head; while simultaneously being crowned by Nike. It is
carved into marble, with immense attention placed on details such as the plumes of the feathers and

Martin Luther King Rhetorical Analysis
Entitled Hierarchy We must use time wisely and forever realize that the time is always ripe to
do right, petitioned Nelson Mandela. Doctor Martin Luther King Jr. knew the essence of time in
Birmingham Alabama, 1963. He brought to his audience ideals of abolishing segregation that
thrived in the South and proactively sought to make change. Using a library of rhetorical
devices, such as allusions, pathos, and similes, King connected his reader to the things he had to
address. King felt it very vital to address the wrongdoing s of the prejudice South. In so, he
makes a lot of allusions to religious ideals, to connect these people with their religious
wrongdoing. With religious allusions, Doctor king was able to put a new take on segregation. In
paragraph 3, he timed this phrase, Injustice anywhere is a threat to injustice everywhere. Making
the point, just because in one part of the country there is racism, segregation, prejudice, etc., this
could lead to something much worse: Segregation everywhere. Stopping the prejudice now could
make a positive impact on future generations, which king petitioned and managed to do. In
paragraph 3, king dedicates the entire paragraph to comparing himself to the apostles, carrying
the word of God. He uses this to not only compare himself to these prophets, but to show he too
will carry his word. King s word is not only of God, but to abolish the old prejudice and
segregation of the South; also to go at any length to fulfill this dream. In

Francis Macomber
Intentions Unseen The Short Happy Life of Francis Macomber by Ernest Hemingway is a story
of a married couple s trip on an African safari for hunting. It is on that trip where the audience
learns of the couple s, who are Francis and Margot Macomber, uneasy relationship. On that trip,
they also meet a character by the name of Robert Wilson, who becomes their guide there. The
story ends tragically with the death of Francis Macomber by being shot in the head by his wife
Margot. At first while reading, one would think Francis death was accidental because the situation
was chaotic, with a buffalo trying to attack them. However, others have said it to be with intent.
Margot Macomber s state of mind was in panic and fear, but her... Show more content on

He finds himself having no fear after that event and claims his manhood at that time. This
change in Francis opinion about himself was recognized by Margot, resulting in her anxiety,
because she realizes that Francis now has the capability to leave her. Having also committed an
act infidelity, there is no escape and no telling what Francis would do next to their relationship.
Margot had always liked having control over Francis, so his sudden courage scares her. An
analysis also states: Though Francis s mate value is greatly increased by his successful shooting
of the buffalo, and evolutionary thinking would lead us to expect that this should benefit his
wife, it is in Margot s case a threat, due primarily to his knowledge of her infidelity (Sugiyama).
This could result in Margot s frustration and believing that the only thing left to do was to kill
him. If she killed him, there was no way for him to divorce her, and she could have his belongings,
including money, to herself. As said by Grant, the relationship between Macomber and Margot is
based on their mutual weaknesses and could not have survived his maturity. Insecurity playing a
role in their relationship was significant. There are particular events in the story that show that
Margot was to blame for Francis death. After Francis was shot, Wilson is telling Margot that she
could have killed him by poison, because that is

The Pentagram, The Dharmachakra, And The Chi Rho
Throughout the different religions often people look at different symbols as to what represents
themselves as a whole religion and how to identify with it. The Pentagram, the Dharmachakra, and
the Chi Rho are going to be the main focus for this purpose. The Pentagram has been used in almost
every important ancient religionand often hold negative connotation but its origin is much
different. The Dharmachakra is used by both Hindu and Buddhist religions to represent hope and

the different aspects of these religions you need to realize you will always find similarities and
differences in all religious aspects no matter how small or large the symbols used are what makes a
religion what they are. When hearing or thinking of The Pentagram people often are fast to
associate it with the Devil and heavy metal music for worshiping Satan and practicing dark things.
Although, the original orientation of the Pentagram has nothing to do with worshiping Satan. It s
said The earliest known use of the pentagram can be found around 3500 BC at Ur of the Chaldees
in Ancient Mesopotamia (Pagans path). In many of the Paganism religions the Pentagram
represents the five equidistant elements Earth, Air, Fire, Water, and Spirit giving it more
importance. Although, in Christian religions the Pentagram originally symbolized the five wounds
of Jesus, but was soon replaced with the with the cross, along

As you may well know Fred Hollows was an able advocate for Indigenous health and focused much of his life on ending curable blindness among numerous Indigenous communities. Paragraph 1 Who is Fred Hollows and what were his main achievements. Fred Hollows was born in New Zealand in 1929. He was not only a terrific ophthalmologist but also a skilled surgeon and social justice activist, as he believed everyone was equal due to his respectful and non judgemental family upbringing. Initially Fred wanted to work in the church but later changed his mind to medicine after working in a mental health hospital. At the age of 22, he started Medical school at the University of Otago and then in 1965 to continue his ophthalmologic work. Paragraph 2 Career beginnings Fred started his medical career by attending the University of Otago Medical School in 1951, at the age of 22. Fred held many different positions in his early career including being a medical intern, a house surgeon and a clinician before specialising in Ophthalmology. After qualifying as an ophthalmologist Fred worked all around New Zealand including Wellington Hospital, which was the biggest in the country. After he moved to Australiain 1965, in the late 1960 s to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Introduction Malicious code is Software or firmware intended to perform an unauthorized process that will have an adverse impact on the confidentiality, integrity, or availability of an information system. 1 Today, as ubiquitous computing is fast becoming a reality and information systems are becoming a part of everything from mobile phones to cars, any threat to an information system represents a risk to hardware, software, data, and the users that depend on their confidentiality, integrity, and availability. This paper surveys the topic of malicious code by identifying malicious code, discussing how social engineering is related to malicious code, describing its threats, listing ways and ... Hidden inside the gigantic horse was a small army of Greek soldiers. During the night, the soldiers dismounted and quickly gained control of key defenses, allowing the rest of the Greek army to invade the previously invulnerable city of Troy. Just as in the myth, Trojan horseprograms allow unauthorized users access to a computer system. While viruses and worms usually carry a payload, Trojan horses usually do not. Payloads are the part of the malicious code that modify, erase, or leak information from a system. They may also alter the state of a system, by displaying a simple undesired screen or causing programs to crash or behave abnormally. The lifecycle of viruses and worms is to infect as many systems or files as possible, and then to execute its payload at a predetermined trigger. The trigger may be a time or system event. Trojans, on the other hand, allow unauthorized, anonymous access to information systems. Another type of threat that is becoming increasingly popular is malicious code hybrids. Hybrids use a combination of virus, worm, and Trojan techniques; virus techniques for self replication, worm techniques for rapid propagation over the Internet, and Trojan techniques for remote system compromise. Today, hybrids represent a growing threat because of their increasing sophistication and multiple propagation ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Biological Branches Of The Complex Study Of Life ABSTRACT Throughout history, there have been many studies conducted regarding different biological branches of the complex study of life. Amylase, an enzyme that catabolizes starch polymers, is one of the most important enzymes needed for the production of certain foods, such as syrups, and different processes such as fermentation. Like everything s biological nature, these certain enzymes are affected by different factors ranging from pH levels to temperature. Finding out the temperature at which these enzymes reach their optimal condition (conditions at which these enzymes work the best), is one of the most revealing studies of all. In this experiment, the affect that temperature has on the enzymatic activity of Amylasewas the leading role, whether it was to determine if it was slowing it down or speeding it up. For both experiments, iodine was used as the control. First, the optimal temperatures of fungal Amylase were tested. For this particular task, there was not too much changed noticed. For most of the temperatures, the activity change seen was very minimal. With iodine and starchby itself, the activity remained the same as well as with the amylase at the 85 degrees test. When testing for the bacterial Amylase, the most change was seen at the 55 degrees test. Overall, it can be said that as temperature rises or decreases, enzymatic activity is affected, but of course with a certain plateau. INTRODUCTION When it comes to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Children and elderly persons sometime steal without realizing they are committing a crime. In urban cities, it is not unusual to find a network of fences who send out teams of shoplifters into specific retail stores to shoplift specific items, much like filling an order for a customer. The fences only pay 10 20 cents on the dollar to the thieves and sometimes pay their room, board, and provide training on how to steal and defeat the anti theft technology. Some fences have been known to bail their workers out of jail when caught or provide for their legal defense. This creates a kind of strange street loyalty much like the tale of Oliver Twist. Theft from stores, including employee and vendor theft, cost retailers many billions of dollars per year. Independent retail studies* have estimated theft from retail stores costs the American public 33.21 billion dollars per year. Depending on the type of retail store, retail inventory shrinkage ranges from .5% 6% of gross sales with the average falling around 1.75%. Whole retail store chains have gone out of business due to their inability to control retail theft losses. And worse yet, the cost of these losses are passed on to us...the consumer. Ellis discusses how the founding members of the revolutionary generation secured their legacies through battle and later though legislation. Ellis reminds the reader that our forefathers risked being hung for treason. No other colony at that time in history had ever successfully won its independence to form a lasting republic, thus the United Stateshad no basis to build upon. Ellis supplements the reader with many of the different perspectives of the American Revolution. Thankfully, the government was so overwhelmed by practical problems that these issues did not cause a civil war. • 10. Legal Systems Of The English Legal System The term common law is the name given to legal systems who embrace the English legal system. Originally, it was created as a case law, judge made centered system. It set out to focus on legal principles, which were created by judicial verdict. However, over time the body of the legal principles matured from the courts, as now, when a judge handles a case, they have to set out to establish what the facts are proceeding the case, and how to determine how the law applies to those facts. When making a verdict of how the law applies to set of facts, a system of precedent will be emplaced. In turn, the courts will form a hierarchy, this is because findings of the higher courts bind the lower courts together, thus, meaning that they will both be required to apply the same doctrine of law as the higher court when confronted with similar cases. (The Open University, 2015, p.5) In common law, the distinctive feature is how it represents the law of the courts in judicial verdicts. This is because the grounds for disputing cases are found in precedents given by past accord. However, another feature of common law would be the doctrine of the suprecemy of the law, this means that acts of government bodies are subject to inquiry in typical legal proceedings. The latin phrase of stare decisis (let the decision stand) is used in Judicial precedents, which in turn, means that the earlier verdicts of the highest court in the jurisdictions, as therefore binding on all other courts. • 12. Evaluation Of The Network Services 1.Goal Going forward with lab 2, the focus was placed on core services seen on enterprise networks, what they do to keep the network running efficiently, and how to centrally monitor them. Some of these services (DNS and DHCP) were review from what was learned in the Network Services class, but by taking the basic concepts and applying them to an already running network instead of creating a new environment specifically to test them, students learned valuable lessons on how to integrate important services into an already thriving network. At the end of lab 1, all virtual machines set up were given a static IP address which could be marked down in the wiki and referenced by other machines if needed, such as the Opsview software which needed to know the location of the other machines for monitoring purposes. With DHCP and DNS now in place, the focus of how to locate resources on the network was moved from logical IP addressing to that of domain names. DHCP is now dynamically giving out any address within its given range (a pool from our subnet), and it might not always be the same every time, meaning two things had to change. The first is reservations on the ISC DHCP server so that the same address is given out to systems already in place based on what their static addresses were previously, and the second is letting resolver software on the virtual machine s query the new DNS server for the IP address of a VM, rather than someone having to lookup what the address of the ... Recidivism has become a nationwide problem, and many are looking for ways to reduce its rate (Bracey 253). Ex offenders have a hard time finding long standing, good paying employment because of the barriers they face. One of those barriers is a lack of skills needed to gain employment (Holzer, Raphael, and Stoll 4 5). Many offenders are both undereducated and unemployed when they enter prison, and while in prison, often fail to gain adequate education or skills because there are no resources offered to acquire these skills (Smith). Also, employers fear hiring ex offenders because of their criminal past. John Rakis, who wrote, Improving the Employment Rates of Ex Prisoners Under Parole, says many employers have a prejudice, against hiring an ex offender (Rakis 8). Along with employers being wary of a criminal past, ex offenders also have large gaps in their employment history, as a result of the time served in prison. These gaps cause ex offenders to appear as undependable employees, and employers become hesitant of hiring the ex offenders (Bracey 253). A nurse in an institution could use Bevis when implementing the interventions, for example in the first intervention, helping the resident identify cutlery, show them how to use it, this demonstrates teaching. (McMahon, 2009). The second intervention is changing the colour of the plates, this uses problem solving because when the resident is getting distracted then the implementation of colours can draw attention to the food. (McMahon, 2009). Lastly the third intervention about trying to talk to the resident s when they walk away from a meal uses the Bevis nursing tool, communication. Communicating to the resident helps bring attention to back to the meal (McMahon, 2009). When implementing interventions there are barriers that must be overcome in order to make them effective. For the first intervention dealing with helping them use cutlery, a barrier can be time. This can be an issue because care providers may not want to spend the time to properly teach the resident and want to do it themselves so that it is faster, it is important that the nurses be supportive and patient (McGinley, 2015). The second intervention about the coloured plates can have issues arise regarding money. If it is easier and more affordable for an institution to only have one colour plates, then having special plates for residents with vascular dementia could be a challenge. To overcome this, having the family bring in coloured plates if they are able to could resolve this problem (McGinley, 2015). Lastly, having a nurse sit with a resident with vascular dementia for the duration of the meal to stop their wandering could be a challenge because it is unlikely that an institution would be able to have health care professionals give their complete attention to only one resident. A way to over come this could be to sit a couple of residents ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 26. Mark Twain Rhetorical Analysis Mark Twain was described to be anything and almost everything except for politically correct. People say that Twain wrote to be controversial, his literary pieces left you enraged, confused, or combative. Nevertheless, his views and perspectives were still respected. Twain grew up in the rural back wood area of Missouri, known as a slave state at this time. His father was a widely respected judge, and his uncle, John Quarles, was a slave master. Quarles owned over 20 slaves, providing Twain with a personal experience to the practice and institution of slavery. This provided Twain the opportunity to build a self defined definition and perspective on the institution of slavery. This explains why the discussion of the assumingly racist perspective... One argument made by people who fully support Mark Twains novel, Huckleberry Finn, say that a man who pay for a black man s education and feels that slavery should have never been okay, could not possibly have written a racially offensive novel. (Marx) Throughout my research I discovered Twain s joy behind the challenging of the ideas of racism within his writing. He wanted to be known for his perspective and controversial issues. For example, in his book Pudd nhead Wilson, Twain is left with the question on whether or not white or black people were different from each other, rather than by skin color. Again in the year 1957 when the National Association for The Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) confronted Twain on the offensiveness of his novel. Public school systems and parents felt it should not be used in a integrated school systems. What you find in Twain is the backwards: an eager warmth and reverence for dull Americans that began when he was still a child and turned out to be reliably as the years advanced. In a by and large idolized post Civil War sketch titled A True Story, for occasion, he wrenchingly evoked the torment of an ex slave as she was secluded from her young tyke on the deal piece, and her elation at discovering him in a dull regiment at war s ... • 27. Understanding Cannabinoids And Their Effects Understanding Cannabinoids Join us (and the rest of the world) in somewhat understanding cannabinoids and their effects. Understanding cannabinoids as a layman seems to be only slightly less confusing than understanding them as a scientist. That s not entirely true, but we are talking about a system within the human body with who knows how many receptors and we ve identified exactly two in the last twenty years. Which is great, because new science is fun, and the concept of understanding cannabinoids is definitely new science. What are cannabinoids? Cannabinoids are compounds that produce the effects experienced from ingesting Cannabis. There are four types of cannabinoids recognized by the National Institutes of Health: * Phytocannabinoids include all of the plant material (leaves, stem, seeds, etc.) * Endocannabinoids are cannabinoids that are produced by the human body * Synthetic cannabinoids are chemical imitations * Purified natural occurring extracts are attempts to isolate cannabinoids The discovery of endocannabinoids led to the identification of an entire system in the human body, comprised of lipids, receptors, and enzymes. The endocannabinoid system is responsible for a host of physiological processes that rely on the interactivity of cannabinoids and their receptors. Since their discovery and cloning in the early 90s, the CB1 and CB2 receptors are still the only receptors that have been identified in the endocannabinoid system. The location of a ... Socrates claims to be a selfless benefactor of the polis in that he had exhausted his private resources in the pursuit of the public good (23b c, 30a, 31a c). Because he does what is good for his fellow citizens for whom he feels regard despite the danger to which this exposes him, Socrates claims to be a benefactor of the Athenians. He refers with pride to his record of military service and underlines that it was service to the democracy: When the commanders that you elected to command me stationed me at Potidaea and Amphipolis and Delion, I remained there like anyone else, and ran the risk of death (28e). He is an honorable citizen who disregards death and preaches that The difficulty, my friends, is not to avoid death, but to avoid unrighteousness; for that runs faster than death. He has demonstrated that he is, by his own right, a patriotic citizen who cares deeply about the good of his polis and one who consistently acts in what he sees as his city s best interests; but he has also shown also that, in light of his own definition of patriotism, Socrates must be regarded as a uniquely patriotic Athenian. The participants are not showing their true behaviour and one reason why they may be altering their behaviour when in the presence of a researcher is because they think that they have guessed what the researcher is studying and therefore wants to help them with their research by acting in the way that they think the researcher wants to see. Using a library of rhetorical devices, such as allusions, pathos, and similes, King connected his reader to the things he had to address. King felt it very vital to address the wrongdoing s of the prejudice South. In so, he makes a lot of allusions to religious ideals, to connect these people with their religious wrongdoing.
