An Evaluation Of A Marketing Audit
A marketing audit is a systematic approach to examining existing products and services for strengths
and weaknesses. It often focuses on the Ps of marketing including product, price, place, and promotion
along with other elements. The purpose of the marketing audit is to appraise the organization s current
status and provide recommendations for future action. Darlene Weingand (1999) adapted Philip Kotler
s definition of a marketing audit. It s a comprehensive, systematic, independent, periodic examination
of the information agency s total environment, objectives, strategies, activities, and resources in order
to determine problem areas and opportunities and to recommend a plan of action. An audit is used to
identify capabilities and challenges in the organization. This assessment should include both internal
and external investigations. The internal aspect focuses on the library itself, while the external aspect
explores the larger organization, the local community, and the larger country. The marketing audit
provides the basis for making informed decisions about library activities. What s realistic and
unrealistic for your organization? What makes your programs unique? What changes need to be made
in the library s programs and services? http://eduscapes.com/marketing/2.htm TABLE OF

Working With Client Reflection
In participating in this experiment, it provided me hands on experience in dealing with a client. In the
process of working with my client, I frequently found myself very comfortable with the process; this
may have been mainly due to how cooperative my client Scott was. Although it was very comfortable
with him, I did find myself on occasion not knowing what say when he asked questions, but I did my
best to answer what I could and made it known that I did not know the answer, but was willing to do
some outside research. One of the first questions I can remember Scott asking me was, what is the
difference between each fruit and vegetables and what do they offer in terms of vitamins and minerals.
I did not know how to respond to this, so I replied ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His response was he appreciated how welcoming I was and how comfortable I made him feel. Some
other positive feedback he gave was; my honesty to questions I did not know about, he felt that I was
very knowledgeable, approachable, honest, reliable, and very people oriented. I also think I did well at
communication and getting the client to talk about sensitive information. Getting people to feel
comfortable is the first step to establishing rapport with your client. With that rapport comes trust and
understanding ultimately leading to more vulnerability and trust between the dietitian and client.
Another strength I think is important is approachability, if your client does not feel comfortable
talking to you and reaching out in times of need, then you won t be able to establish a rapport outside
a clinical setting.
During the second protocol, I noticed that I was good at suggesting alternatives foods and ingredients
in meal. When it comes to assessing your clients eating habits, finding ways and using tactics to
modify already existing diets, especially in case when dealing with diverse cultures and ethnicities is
very important. An example I mentioned to Scott during out appointments was discussing portion
sizes. During times when Scott would eat

The Angst In Vada s Life
As for Vada, there is a certain amount of angst in her life caused by the environment and experiences
of her family. Her mother died within two days of her birth, and so she feels guilt for her loss and
sadness for growing up without a mother. She admires her father, Harry, but he is emotionally distant.
As a source of income, Harry owns a funeral business in their home and is more preoccupied with the
dead rather than the living, although Vada desperately yearns for his attention. Due to the nature of
Harry s business and the fact that his place of work is his home, there is a continual flood of deceased
people coming through the home in body bags, which is hard on Vada and forces her into gaining a
very precocious knowledge base of death

Active Age Of Pre K
During my program observation, I observed the local elementary. This elementary educates level Pre
Kindergarten to Second Grade. For my project, I chose the aware and active age of Pre K. This
specific classroom held a variety of ages preparing for kindergarten, starting at five to six years old,
with 14 children. While I was observing, the main teacher taught many of the centers, and lessons,
although there was another supervisor that would stop in and take one student who had trouble staying
focused and remaining calm. This advisor would stop in once every few hours to give this child a
quick break, and reminded him of appropriate behavior. After my interview with the professional, the
qualifications required for this location include Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education, required
by law. The teacher who lead this classroom of pre kindergarteners attended the University of
Northern Iowa. Most of the children in this classroom were around the age of six, one student who
was the youngest turned six the day school started, and most celebrate their half birthdays during
winter time. The events taking place during my observation covered a wide variety of subjects.
Starting from rest time at 1 o clock, readers workshop and read aloud, independent reading, recess,
movement and handwriting, writing, read aloud, to dismissal time around 3:30 p.m. Near the door,

Presidential Use of Force Essay
Presidential Use of Force When the framers of the Constitution constructed the executive branch of
government, they envisioned a president with certain limited powers. Having delegated to the
president a specific type of authority, the framers would probably be surprised to see that they had
actually created a rather dynamic officer. The presidency is continually changing over time. That is,
the power of the president has been both increased and decreased a various stages in history.
Opportunites for change did not generally result from the characteristics of individual presidents, but
rather came as a result of specific historic occurrences that impacted the nation as a whole. For
example, the Civil War created a forum that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The skeleton like provisions of Article II have left the words open to definition and redefinition by
courts and presidents. This skeleton like wording leaves it up to an aggressive chief executive and a
willing Supreme Court to shape the actual parameters of such powers. In effect, history has rewritten
the Constitution. The words are flexible enough to mean different things in different situation. On the
whole though, a more expansive view of presidential power has taken precedence over a more
restrictive view. The history of the meaning of presidential power through the Constitution has been
one of the expansion of power and the enlargement of the meaning of the words of the Constitution.
The numerous undeclared wars of the twentieth century also presented an avenue for Congress to
supress the executive. The widespread disapproval of the Vietnam War was the last straw for
American legislators. Congress felt the need to limit the president s ability to engage in military
conflicts with forgein lands without their consent. The War Powers Resolution, passed in 1973,
created their desired limitations. This act required that any use of American troops in potentially
hostile situations must be reported to Congress. In addition, the military action must stop within sixty
days of the submission of the report, and that Congress can end the use of the military at any time by
passing a concurrent resolution, which is not

Why Is Resilience Important
Dear, Parents In this unit I have learnt about the importance of Resilience. I believe the most
important aspects of resiliency are appreciation, optimism, and coping with stress. To be resilient is to
bounce back in the face of adversity, depression, tragedy, and other sources of stress. It s a cycle that
many people get stuck in until they pick themselves back up. You experience, you feel, you fail, you
hurt, and you fall. But, you keep on going anyways. Mandy Oaklander conveys that humans tend to
stress over everything. Even if it s a waitress messing up your order, or getting a C on a project
(Guilty), and the list goes on and on. I often deal with stress at least once every month and I don t even
realize it . This is where Mandy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I see many people appreciating others, but how come most of us can t appreciate ourselves? It s
because we believe we don t deserve it. we would rather appreciate other who deserve it and not
ourselves, but it doesn t always have to be like that. How can we appreciate others if we cannot
appreciate ourselves? Sometimes, we believe that the universe has shaped our reality and who we
really are, but I believe it s just all in our heads. Shawn Anchor conveys that, We re finding it s not
necessarily the reality that shapes us, but the lens through which your brain views the world that
shapes your reality. And if we can change the lens, not only can we change your happiness, we can
change . And from reading this text we find that It s not the way that the world makes us, but the way
that we see the world. If we can change how we look at the world maybe we can change our
happiness, opportunities, and happiness, opportunities, and for the better. Sometimes I find the world
unfair and totally unpredictable. I find it hard to find my life going well when it s hard for me to look
at the bright side of things when my life just isn t functioning the way it s supposed to. My fears and
anxiety really play a huge role in this because they often stop me from going after what I really

A Boycott That Went Down In History Like Martin Luther King Jr. once exclaimed Our lives begin to
end the day we become silent about things that matter ( Martin Luther King Jr. Delivers ). Martin
Luther King and Rosa Parks were the leaders of this extraordinary boycott against segregation and
inequality laws. They fought to end bus segregation against blacks, whites and alao show that
segregation laws were unfair. This led to people all around the world contributing to end segregation
and have equal rights.Rosa Parks was a seamstress and the secretary of the NAACP. With her parents
former slaves she had the urge to end segregation. Facing the unfairness of segregation, hundreds of
African Americans held a mass protest known as the Montgomery Bus Boycott, which consequently
led to the Supreme Court to not only rule bus segregation unconstitutional , but also paved the way for
Civil Rights.
To begin with, facing the unfairness of segregation, all African Americans were fed up with the Bus
Segregation Laws which enforced separate seating in the back of city buses.. Civil Rights Movement
activists tended to struggle with segregation. Many activists have realized the unfairness and this is the
reason they want to change the laws. They believed they were unfair and illegal to do these things to
African Americans. On a daily basis, African American men and women were beat and treated
unfairly (Kimmel). Due to this

The Dynamics Of The Pacific Ocean Essay
The grand expanse of the Pacific Ocean possesses a very extensive, and often debated history of
human expansion into the thousands of islands that exist within the region. There exists a range of
fields that are interested in the voyaging of what is called Remote Oceania, or the parts of the Pacific
that would require advanced navigation techniques due to the fact that the next island is either out of
sight or simply unknown. Biologists study the movement and development of the human race while
linguists study the development of the Austronesian language family that can be found in this region.
Archaeologists are interested in the existence of elaborate Lapita pottery and anthropologists wish to
understand the cultural traditions and dynamics of the past and current populations of these Pacific
islands. Due to the shared interest in this region from many fields, it is important for an understanding
of the movement of the populations over time throughout Remote Oceania to be understood. In this
paper I will discuss some of the dynamics of the oral traditions of the region regarding ocean travel,
investigate the scale of the task that these navigators were up against, explain the variety of canoe
types along with the navigational techniques that were used to maneuver them, and discuss the current
standings among scholars on the path of expansion in this region.

Greek Wine History
Wine continues to be a staple in society, displayed in its prominent impact on culture and religion. It
has paved the way for growth in both politics and philosophy; its involvement in trade allowed the
spread of Greek ideas to reach many civilizations. Wine s effect throughout human history is
undeniable as it connected people from all over the world through trade and commerce. While it s true
origins are lost and only recorded in myth and legend , it is believed that its first production was in the
Neolithic period, between 9000 and 4000 BC (Standage 47). Wild grape vine, cereal crops, and the
invention of pottery lead to wine production in areas of modern day Armenia and northern Iran.
Reddish residue found inside a jar from a Neolithic village in the Zagros Mountains is the earliest
physical evidence for wine (47). Wine s possible origin in this region is mirrored in the story of Noah.

From its historical birthplace, it continued to spread to the west (Greece) and south through the
Levant. One of Egypt s early ruler, King Scorpion was buried with seven hundred jars of wine
displaying the significance of wine in early Egyptian culture. It was transported at great expense,
signifying the rapid growth of wine production. The Pharaohs established their own vineyards in the
Nile Delta and the beginning of limited domestic production was starting to kickoff, but in
Mesopotamia, wine consumption remained only to the elite. Wine was not listed in ration tables for
lower class members. The masses in both Egypt and eastern Mediterranean areas were still drinking
beer, which made access to wine a mark of status (48). Wine became a symbol of status. As it began to
gain popularity throughout the Near East and the eastern Mediterranean, wine was viewed as both a
social and religion drink (49). Wine production increased and it became associated with other
desirable offerings such as gold, silver,

Ellen Star s Hull House
The Hull House was founded in 1889 by Jane Addams and Ellen Star after Addams was inspired by
Toynbee Hall during a trip to London. Both women were interested in social welfare and reform and
decided to start a similar endeavor after the opportunity presented itself when Addams received a free
25 year lease on a mansion from Helen Culver. Culver had been gifted this mansion by her uncle,
Charles Hull, due to the the deteriorating neighborhood which is why it was called the Hull House.
The location was perfect for the social experiment Addams and Star had envisioned. It began as a
small project to improve lives of local working class people through educational and social
opportunities. It quickly grew into something much larger and left a ... Show more content on

Addams and Star volunteered as doctors and midwives when the professionals were either unavailable
or unwilling to help. This was a service sorely needed for those too poor to afford a doctor or were
refused treatment such as when an Irish Catholic woman had a child out of wedlock no Irish midwives
would deliver. In addition to offering services, they also supplied facilities the entire public could
enjoy such as a playground, bathhouse, gym and a public dispensary that provided free nutritious food
to the sick. Also, they worked hard to assimilate immigrants into American culture and were extremely
successful, especially with children. They did this mainly through the courses mentioned earlier,
promoting hand workmanship as a moral regenerative force and helping those that came through their
doors learn necessary skills for the workforce and then helping them find gainful employment. As
mentioned earlier, they had a small theater where anyone could put on shows. This has been attributed
by many historians to be the roots of both Chicago s improvisational theatre scene and the American
Little Theater movement. Finally, the work accomplished at the Hull House had a profound affect on
the progressive movement. The Hull House offered a unique environment that encouraged women to
be social activists and step outside the expected mold. Many well known and celebrated female
reformers began their careers at

The Perspective On Demography And Its Effects On The...
Every aspect on demography comes into play when combined into unison from the perspective of a
person s environment. Factors such as age, ethnicity, gender and class are highly important in shaping
a person s environment, where a different combination is met with a distinct response, thus placing
great emphasis on the understanding of intersectionality through the lens of the sociological
imagination. Through social ecology, intersectionality and the sociological imagination intertwines
together to connect social issues and environmental problems as interrelated, where to solve one side,
the other side can not be ignored. To help protect our environment, we must begin to consider beyond
the industry cultures, but on the combination of all our carbon footprint s effect on the environment.
While equality is important, does all the countries have to reach the standard of Western societies,
instead for Western society to meet the developing countries somewhere in the middle. Perhaps
Eurocentrism is not so great after all when its existence is everywhere. The China Price provides an
excellent example of the consequences of the industrial culture prominent in many Western countries,
in which this culture takes advantage of the poor and marginalized groups for the economy to prosper,
as shown by the abundance of goods made from China. The environment in many cities are covered
with smog due to all the manufacturing and its byproducts going on in China, and through this means,

Luciferianism In Illuminati
To proceed with, Illuminati really has a religion , more known as a conviction framework, called
Luciferianism or Illuminism. Luciferianism roots from the word Lucifer, which is referred to by
numerous as Satan, the dull leader of the underworld. During the time spent completely understanding
the thinking for utilizing such a dim ruler as a name of a religion, one must first comprehend the
history. In the Bible, a story is told about Lucifer, the most elevated of the heavenly attendants; yet, he
was not fulfilled, and needed more. He needed to supplant God and endeavored creating so as to do
this the first resistance to him. God immediately exiled Lucifer from Heaven and sent him, alongside
one thirds of all blessed messengers away to the underworld. Lucifer, once the great blessed
messenger of light got to be Satan, abhorrent holy messenger of dimness (The New Oxford Annotated
Bible, Luke 10:18). This story clarifies how Illuminati needs the same Lucifer did, the most power
conceivable, which gave them the thought to utilize Luciferianism as their convictions name.

The Struggle For Mozambique By Nidoo Mondlane
Eduardo Mondlane, a nationalist leader and the founding president of the Mozambican Liberation
Front, wrote a text called The struggle for Mozambique . He explains what the situation in colonial
Mozambique was at the time and the tribulations that the country faced under Portugal s rule. He
brings to light certain cases, the episodes of the nationalist struggle in Mozambique and its aftermath.
This essay will analyse the text of Mondlane and give an account of his reasoning s.
According to Mondlane relations between Portugal and Mozambique began in the late 1400 s with the
main interest of opening a safer route to India for means of trade. This was not the case for long. They

Mondlane states that the main beneficiary of the plan of the dam did not benefit Mozambique but
South Africa and Portugal s cut from the project was clearly political rather than economic. This topic
relatively goes together with the exploitation of labour through the Portuguese. Huffman states that the
forced labour on private farms and government works, a vast amount of Mozambicans were sent to
Rhodesia and South Africa to work in the mines and in conclusion it lead to the deaths of 43000
Mozambicans between 1902 and 1914, but the colonial authorities were concerned only with the
wages being remitted to Mozambique since they were the primary source of the colony s foreign
earnings. The metropole took everything and left nothing , Huffman states. A racial notion can also be
seen through the implementation of forced labour and there are differences in figures regarding race
and the Europeans were paid more even though both did the same work and had the same level of
skill. Penvenne states that [e]conomic crises tended to hasten the pace of racist employment
categorization , which supports the above mentioned statement. Another statement by Penvenne

“Our Health Care System Has Significant Safety And Quality
Our health care system has significant safety and quality problems, Linda Cronenwett said. To fix that,
we need to redesign what and how we teach the next generation of nurses and other healthcare
professionals so that they understand what goes into ensuring good and safe care, and can identify and

of the league s best athletes have had to end their professional careers prematurely, because of
concussions. Gary Bettman, the NHL s President, general managers of each team, and the National
Hockey League s Players Association, have been trying to come up with a solution to reduce the
numbers of concussions each year. The NHL s regular season ended the second weekend of April.

Another deceased NHL player/enforcer, Reggie Fleming, was also diagnosed with CTE. Within the

symptoms of chronic traumatic encephalopathy.
Wayne Primeau, a retired NHL player is one of the many hockey players who will donate their brains
to Boston University for research purposes after they die. Primeau had four documented concussions
during his ten year career. He thinks the real figure is about ten, including undiagnosed concussions
early on in his career. He still gets lightheaded and dizzy when he exercises, even though he retired
from the game of hockey about five years ago.
Most people feel that the league should eliminate all blows to the head. During an interview the
Washington Capitals head coach Bruce Boudreau said, I like seeing the straight on hits. It s easy for
me, because I m not out there anymore, but at the same time I m down there close enough to the play

The Commerce Tavern Essay
The Commerce Tavern
Executive Summary
The Commerce Tavern was a popular restaurant located in Merchants Square, Colonial Williamsburg.
H. Franklin Nilson established The Commerce in 1982, and he has been operating this restaurant very
well. Recently, Nilson had a conversation with Anne Hamlet from The Virginia Merchants Bank about
the acceptance of credit card consumption at The Commerce Tavern. VMB was willing to give The
Commerce authorization of the use of MasterCard and Visa cards at the tavern. However, the general
payment method of The Commerce was cash only, Nilson was not sure if this traditional method could

In view of the background of The Commerce Tavern, it had excellent conditions to attract customers,
so this advantage would not be influenced by the change of payment method.
Looking at the credit cards agreement
The standard bank credit card participation agreement from VMB stated in detail the responsibilities
of The Commerce Tavern, especially checking the expiration date of the card, making sure that the
card number did not be restricted or revoked, etc. It also stated that VMB would credit The Commerce
immediately for the face amount of the sales slip subtract the fees calculated at the rate that time.
About the rate, Hamlet told Nilson VMB would charge The Commerce, a new participant, at the rate
of 4 percent, and this rate would remain for one year. However, at the end of the year, VMB would
reset the rate according to The Commerce s credit card sales of the total year.
The rule of setting the rate was shown as follows: Credit card sales ($) | Rate | Greater than 5000,000 |
2% | Between 200,000 and 5000,000 | 3% | Less than 200,000 | 4% |
Analysis of the credit card usage
Hamlet provided a chart with credit card usage information of other restaurants to Nilson, which could
be used to estimate the rate of The Commerce after one year. Due to Nilson was familiar with all the
restaurants on the list, there were eight restaurants could be used for reference.

Chevy Pickup Evolution Of Chevy
Chevy Pickup Evolution Have you ever wondered how the pickup industry got started and what the
first kind of trucks were like? There has been many different generations of pickups. Chevy has made
a big impact on the truck industry and what they are now, in this day and age . But, the most important
ones were the old generations of pickups. The first generation of chevy pickups were made between
1918 1928. The first one that was made in 1918 was called the Chevy 490. From the factory they didn
t come with anything on the back of it, so all it came with was an engine and a cab, different
companies made the boxes for them that you had to buy separately. They used a 171 cubic inch, over

These engines had a lot more horsepower and torque than the previous engines and made the trucks
able to pull a heavier load. The new engines made up to 56 horsepower in this generation and 146 foot
pounds of torque and where 194 cubic inches(Bunn, Chevrolet Trucks). Chevy still didn t have beds
on their trucks until 1930 then they started to put a bed on the trucks and made the cab a little bit
bigger and more comfortable (Williams, 95 Years of Chevy Pickup History). Chevy also put a better,
easier to shift, 3 speed synchromesh transmission. This was a great improvement because you could
drive smoother, it was easier to drive the truck and you could pull a heavier load. The synchromesh
style transmissions are still used in all of the manual transmissions on the road today. In 1936 they put
full length water jackets on all of their engines. The full length water jackets made the engines run
cooler and prevent them from overheating. This also let them make the engine bigger and were moved
from 194 to 207 cubic inches. The next style of pickups were produced from 1937 1946. This is when
they started to become the more modern type of trucks. Although today they would be considered old
and very simple back then they were top of the line and very modern . The reasons that they were
called the modern style is because they made a bunch of improvements to the trucks. They had
redesigned the whole cab and made it bigger and more comfortable to drive for longer

The Color Purple Analysis
Thinking Ahead of Her Times
Treating women properly with dignity and respect has commonly been an issue because it has been a
constant struggle for them to gain it throughout history. This controversy goes way back to the early
twentieth century and in The Color Purple by Alice Walker, we clearly see how women are not given
the respect or dignity they deserve. Although people seem to not recognize it as a problem, this issue
must be addressed. In The Color Purple one definitely sees how Celie represents a repressed woman
and how she learns to fight back over time to overcome her struggles in life.
In The Color Purple, Celie a young black girl who lived in Georgia was very bright and wrote
countless letters to God. These letters contained horrid experiences Celie went through. She was
constantly subjected to abuse and told she was ugly. So these letters became an outlet for her to cope
with her situation. The letters also show how Celie has pulled through numerous struggles she endured
starting from the age of 14 and ending up into her mid forties. Although Celie has her doubt that God
even takes her concerns into consideration, these letters serve as a type of therapy to help her ease her
suffering. Having gone through countless unbelievable troubles, Celie feels she can express her
private thoughts and feelings freely. Celie knows that Nettie, her dear sister is not receiving the letters
as Mr. _____ hides them from Nettie so that she cannot receive them.

Summary Of The Sunflower
An Analysis of The Sunflower The Holocaust was a genocide that occurred from 1933 1945, and one
of its survivors was Simon Wiesenthal. After he was set free from the concentration camp, he
dedicated his life to finding Nazi war criminals and persecuting them in court. Later on in his life, he
wrote a memoir, The Sunflower. It was about one of his many experiences at the Lemberg
concentration camp where he got roped into listening to a dying SS soldier, Karl. Right before
Wiesenthal left Karl s room, Karl asked Wiesenthal, on behalf of all the Jews he persecuted, for
forgiveness. Wiesenthal left Karl s room without forgiving him, and then asked his readers, What
would I have done? At the end of The Sunflower, people who Wiesenthal picked to respond to his
question, had their answers published. The most interesting response was Jose Hobday s. Hobday
believed that Wiesenthal should have forgiven to Karl because it would have given Karl a sense of
peace, making it easier for him to pass on. Hobday had the correct answer to Wiesenthal s question
because even though all of the Jews that Karl persecuted are dead and will not be able to forgive him
in person, Karl just wanted someone to know that he was sorry for his actions. Jose Hobday was a
Franciscan nun of Seneca, Iroquois, and Seminole descent. She wrote about Catholic and Native
American spirituality, and her writings appeared in many publications such as Parabola, Cross

Social Security Is The Most Popular Government Program
What Is Social Security?
Social Security is the most popular government program and touches the life of every worker in
America, but most people know little or nothing about how it operates. The following discussion
explains what Social Security is and how it operates.
Social Security s Major Programs.
While most discussions focus only on Social Security s retirement program, Social Security actually
consists of three major programs, all of which are administered by the Social Security Administration.
Specifically:
Retirement.Social Security s retirement program provides a lifetime monthly income for qualified
workers once they reach their full retirement age. Depending on when they were born, that age ranges
from 65 to 67. The amount of retirement benefits that a worker receives depends on his or her income
while working. Workers also have the option of receiving a lower monthly income starting at age 62.
Survivors. Social Security s survivors program provides a monthly lifetime income to the surviving
spouse of a deceased worker once he or she reaches retirement age. The amount of the monthly benefit
depends on both spouses income while they were working. The survivors program also pays benefits
to children under the age of 18 and the surviving spouse caring for them. Unless they are disabled,
children s benefits end when the last child either reaches age 18 or graduates from high school,
whichever is later.
Disability. Social Security also pays lifetime

Similarities Between Columbus And Charles Lindbergh
This essay will include the journeys of Christopher Columbus and Charles Lindbergh when they d
gone across the Atlantic Ocean. They both made a mark in history, but what did they do? In this essay,
the similarities and differences between their journeys will be discussed, as well as the 400 year gap
between them. Their hopes that they wanted to accomplish, challenges they faced, and skills that they
had used to help with the success of their journeys will also be included.
Christopher Columbus and Charles Lindbergh both went across the Atlantic, so that is a start for
similarities. More similarities between their journeys included the facts that both men were looked at
differently after achieving their goals. People respected them and felt hope instead of being weary of
what the world held. Charles Lindbergh and Christopher Columbus both faced many challenges when
crossing that great expanse of water, but they both succeeded.
Though both men went across the Atlantic Ocean, they did differ on lots of things. Most differences
are simple to point out; the other ones require some thinking. Columbus started his journey in 1492
and Lindbergh started his in 1927. The simple differences include the fact that Columbus sailed across
with a boat and Lindbergh, a plane. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

and even in our minds, we can understand the feelings that they had gone through whenever we come

Tao Qian, Also Known As Tao Yuan-Ming, Was A Chinese Poet
Tao Qian, also known as Tao Yuan ming, was a Chinese poet of the Six Dynasties period. Tao was
well versed in the classics of Confucianism and Daoism, which is evident in his poetry. However, he
wasn t known for the extent of his knowledge but for his distinctive voice as a poet of transition and
reclusion. Throughout his life, he held and resigned several minor posts before his ultimate decision to
renounce public life and return to his gardens and fields (Owen 1996, 312). As the founder of the
poetry of fields and gardens, Tao s writing revolves around nature as a philosophy and as a way of life
that embodies the simplicity of living in recluse, away from the chaos of high society. He uses the
philosophy of nature not only to retell ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many of Tao Qian s poems illustrate a life of farming and drinking wine, encompassing themes that
urge its audience to remove themselves from official life, move to the countryside, and take up a
cultivated life of drinking wine, writing poetry, and avoiding the complicated aspects of life such as
working in high society. Earlier scholars believed that Tao was neither Confucian nor this worldly,
neither egocentric nor defiant, neither gallant nor stubborn, Tao is contented, free from the unnatural,
he has got all Nature can offer (Lu 2017). It is evident in Tao Qian s poetry that he utilized nature as a
means to escape what reality had to offer, corruption and political instability, as opposed to his own
idea of utopia or a simple, easy life in recluse. Tao s An Account of Peach Blossom Spring, has
remained a famous piece of Chinese writing throughout history about the discovery of an otherworldly
utopia in which the populace led an ideal existence in harmony with nature, unaware of the outside
world. Unlike reality at the time, where the tension between the state and the individual had developed
fully (Owen 1995, 309), Tao s Peach Blossom Spring is a tranquil magic otherworldly world that
idealized a world of freedom and simplicity. He describes this world as

Harms of Watching Television
There are benefits to watching TV like gaining minimal knowledge, but in comparison to how harmful
it can be that small amount of knowledge isn t worth it. Also television can harm a child s
development, encourage laziness, and cause you to obtain an addiction to it. There are so many things
that you can damage when you watch TV on a regular basis, why do this to yourself?
To begin, the first few years of life are very critical for a child s development, why ruin it by using a
TV as a babysitter? Research states that children who are always watching TV, or even just have it on
as background noise, aren t as likely to develop Theory of mind . Theory of mind is the idea that you
aren t the only one that has a mind. Since you can t actually see someone else s mind it s only logical
to base it off of you having one , it allows people to come to the realization that other people have
beliefs and desires different from their own, children who are constantly exposed to television have a
more likely risk of not developing this which can lead to autism, schizophrenia, and other such things.
To add, children who are always watching TV are more likely to form an attention disorder and this
can result in academic and social trouble. These disabilities can lead to a very challenging life that
might have been avoidable if you tried to help them walk, develop speech, and obtain reading skills,
instead of just sitting them in front of a TV all day.

Permutation Based Encoding
This chapter focuses on the evolutionary approaches to optimization problems based on permutation
encoded individuals. A new proposed recombination operator for permutation based encoding is
described cite{Chira 2012}. The proposed operator is using not only genetic information from the
two parents, but from the best individual obtained up to the current generation too. Some of the most
widely studied NP hard optimization problems with many applications in domains such as logistics,
planning, routing, and scheduling are considered to test the efficiency of the proposed operator. A
comparative analysis of several recombination operators is presented based on computational
experiments for Traveling
Salesman Problem, Vehicle Routing Problem, Resource Constrained Project Scheduling Problem and
some generalized versions of these problems. Numerical results emphasize a good performance of the
proposed crossover scheme.

Emily Dickinson s Poem, Because I Could Not Stop For Death
Death is everywhere. From the insect you killed this morning to the family member you lose recently,
there is no force stronger than death. Emily Dickinson, a 19th century writer, indulges that fact but
also goes beyond it in her work. Dickinson revisits the theme of death in her poetry. Through her
work, she shows readers her fascination with death the emotions associated with it. In I heard a Fly
buzz when I died and I ve seen a Dying Eye , Dickinson shows us a very intimate view of a person
dying. The poem Because I could not stop for Death shows readers the journey to eternity after death
and The Bustle in a House shows readers what happens to a family after death. These four poems by
Emily Dickinson all share a central theme of death and give readers a very personal understanding of
it. Emily Dickinson was born and educated in Massachusetts. She only remained in college for one
year but still produced volumes of poetry. She was very introverted and towards the end of her life,
she only wore white. Her poetry, as stated by the Academy of American Poets, reflects her loneliness
and the speakers of her poems generally live in a state of want, but her poems are also marked by the
intimate recollection of inspirational moments which are decidedly life giving and suggest the
possibility of happiness ( Emily Dickinson. ). However, her works were never published while she
was alive. After her death her family found 800 poems or 40 hand bound volumes ( Emily

Understanding Of Non Verbal Communication
How might a greater understanding of non verbal communication benefit a door to door sales person?
Non verbal communication is defined as communication without words. It is considered important in
terms of effectiveness within the retail industry as non verbal behaviour speaks volumes about what
you are really trying to say. Evidence has shown although people may strongly attend to what you re
saying non verbal communication constitutes to two thirds of total communication (Beall 2004,2).
Hence why non verbal communication is able help improve a sales staff s service quality.

Among facial expression eye contact plays a very significant role. It can be argued that eye contact is
the most expressive part of the face. Is it truly the window of ones soul? During social interactions
such as door to door selling it is said that a person s gaze plays a key role in building a rapport with a
customer and it is said that a prolonged eye gaze improves that rapport even move, which to a door to
door sales person is critical to build and it will improve their selling chances having built strong
rapport, as it can be argued to make them seem more trustworthy then to the customer. Michael Argyle
found that we maintain eye contact 40 60% of the time we are talking to someone but we become
much more attentive when we become the listener, maintaining eye contact with the speaker 80% of
the time. This concludes that to build a rapport with someone your gaze should meet theirs 70 80% of
the time(Argyle, 1975). This lays the base for trust, by showing the customer that you are listening to
what they are saying or asking you in return.

regarded as a persuasive tool which may help a door to door seller as the infective smile is a

Post the Civil Rights movements in the United States it is visible the upswing in wars; it went form

is much confusion as to how immigration law works in reality. Most people get confused thinking that
because United States is a country built of Immigrants however immigrants have experienced

However, this law endangers democracy by creating an authoritarian style of government. Moreover,
the Patriots act signed by president W. Bush in 2001, this act is an antiterrorist law enacted by
congress as a response to the 911, terrorist attack. These policies are very different from previous

Examples Of Mr Darcy Essay
Jane Austen s Pride and Prejudice follows Elizabeth Bennet and her sisters as their mother pushes
them towards getting married. Mr. Bingley and his friend, Mr. Darcy, arrive in Hertfordshire, and they
attend a ball the Bennet sisters are attending. Mr. Bingley immediately takes to Jane Bennet, and they
dance together multiple times. Once Mr. Bingley prompts Mr. Darcy to dance with Elizabeth, he
expresses his distaste for her, but throughout the novel, Mr. Darcy changes his opinion on Elizabeth
and grows to love her. Mr. Darcy acts in an opposite way to how a man of his social status is expected
to, and his remarks and attitude towards others can be construed as ironic for a man of his stature.
Throughout Pride and Prejudice, Mr. Darcy is written as a source of irony through his rejection of his

What Are The Siblings Role In Fairytales
The connections that people have with their siblings is a complicated one. Some see their counterparts
as close friends that they can count on, but some lack the family vibe that people would expect from
relatives. In fairytales, siblings play many roles to progress the stories in ways that make them
interesting, exciting, and surprising. How do authors incorporate the siblings into their stories? Are the
siblings roles as important as the main character? If the siblings were not in the story would the
outcome be different? Do the roles of the siblings represent something other than just a family

These two daughters however were different than Cinderella. They thought the stepdaughter should
have to work for her place in the family, ironically from the same situation that Cinderella was in. One
day the father left for the fair one day. Cinderella wanted the branch that first brushed her father s head
on his journey. The other two daughters after hearing what Cinderella asked for were very greedy
asking for much more than just a branch off a tree. This expands on the point that beauty is not always

The Stepsisters commanded that their second class sibling pretty them up to meet the prince. In this

Non Traditional Student Essay
A non traditional student is defined as a student that has one or more of the following qualities:
delayed enrollment after high school, full time employment, part time college attendance, financial
independence, and/or does not have a high school diploma (Cox 7). The National Center for

Social Divisions In The Great Gatsby
My reading of American literature is concerned with this passage by Theodore Dreiser s An American
Tragedy. It explores variety within gender roles and the American dream of the times. This is explored
when social divisions are highlighted in the text in the phrase would have assumed at once belonged to
this world. The worlds that are shown to us are old and new in The Great Gatsby, as there are many
that are striving to achieve more wealth to belong to the new world where all the industrial wealth is
increasing in rates never seen before. The verb belonged suggests the social status of women in those
times, as men were the superior and women were to follow behind as belongings , and the reader has
to understand that men had the power and dominance over women. The noun world suggests the
divisions between the East side and the West side as they are portraying social divisions throughout
1922 when The Great Gatsby was set. Although An American Tragedy was set in 1925, a little after
The Great Gatsby, we have reason to conclude that similar social divisions were still in play. In The
Great Gatsby, Nick, the narrator of the novella, sees two kinds of America: the hard working Chicago,
part of a Middle West culture; and the white, fashionable East Egg. Nick may be able to make it in the
Middle West, but he is not cut out for East Coast life. This reference to the two worlds hints at the
decadence of the roaring 20s, a time in which which everyone was increasing in

sectional images (slices) of soft tissue, organs, bone and blood vessels in any area of your body.

However, for some tissues, a MRI image is not as clear as that of a CT. It is more difficult to
differentiate inflammation and scar tissue from tumors on a MRI image. Also, it generally cannot be
used on anyone who has metal implants in their body. People who have a difficult time in close places
sometimes have a hard time coping with the MRI. The MRI is also more expensive than the CT.
In the same way, the images in the PET scan are not as clear as with the CT scans and MRI, so
sometimes localizing the exact place of the increased activity can be a problem 2) it takes more
training to learn to read them well 3) since inflammation shows as hot on a PET scan, if there is a lot
of inflammation present it can obscure other activity on the scan and 4) it tends to work better for
higher grade tumors and metastasis, as well differentiated tumors have less metabolic activity (they
are usually growing more slowly).
To summarize, the current wave of the future is a new type of scan that combines the technologies of
CT and PET. Superimposing the images of function on structure seems to give the best of both worlds
the anatomical detail of the CT and the ability to find small clumps of cancer cells of the

On skin, your arm shows an anchor, some flowers and a cursive quote. For your interviewer, these two

Reflection Of The Rainbow Bridge
This documentary is about a group of engineering experts who attempted to recreate the famous
Rainbow Bridge depicted in the Quingming Scroll, created in the time of the Song Dynasty. A
multinational team, compromised of Professor Tang, multiple engineering experts and native Chinese
workers come together to decipher how the Rainbow Bridge was actually made, because the bridge
itself and any blueprints for it have long since been lost to time. The entirety of the documentary
focuses on completing this one architectural project, but there were many steps needed to get the
perfect result. First, they had to decide how to go about creating the skeleton of the bridge. A question
that s reiterated throughout the documentary is whether the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

From a historical point of view, it s quite clear the Song [Dynasty] had the most advanced steel and
iron technology in the world, so it certainly would have been possible for them to have iron nails
(21:42 21:55). And in following the details in the Quingming Scroll, the team decided to lash the
timber beams together with bamboo. Once they managed to get bamboo long enough to work for
lashing, the skeleton, the most difficult part of construction, was essentially complete. While they didn
t actually need to travel to collect any of the items, a few members did travel to the Yellow Mountains
about 200 miles from the location in China where they were building the bridge, in order to properly
learn how to make the bamboo rope necessary for the lashing. The experts used in the documentary
were interesting and vital to making the documentary work. If Professor Tang hadn t had a passion for
history and engineering, then the whole project would have never happened. It was also refreshing to
see the specialists argue and discuss the best strategies for building the bridges. Normally, we don t get
to see this kind of interaction in professional documentaries. Everyone was there for a purpose and
had a role to serve. Though reconstruction was the basis of the entire documentary, all the team had to
go off of was a detailed and realistic piece of art found in the Quingming Scroll and historical
knowledge of the Song Dynasty. While they attempted to be fairly accurate in

The Death Of Gang Research
In the early twentieth century, the term gang was associated with groups in socially disorganized and
deteriorated inner city neighborhoods: It was applied to juveniles who engaged in a variety of
delinquencies, ranging from truancy, street brawls, and beer running to race riots, robberies, and other
serious crimes (Regoli, Hewitt, DeLisi, 2011). There were several gangs within the United States,
which included street gangs, prison gangs, motorcycle gangs, and organized crime gangs that still
exist today. The word gang is derived from the word gonge, which is a term that means a journey.
Frederic Thrasher who was called the Father of Gang Research , who defined the word gang as kids in
the streets back in the 1920s. Many of the American gangs began in urban areas and they still exist. It
is said that many of the known street gangs originated in some of the major cities like Los Angeles,
Chicago, Philadelphia, Miami and New York, and they later moved to other American cities such as
Atlanta, Cleveland, St. Louis, Dallas, Memphis, Nashville, New Orleans, Milwaukee, Orlando,
Houston, and Detroit. According to the 2011 National Gang Threat Assessment, published by the
National Gang Intelligence Center, some 33,000 gangs were estimated to be operating in the United
States in 2011, comprising an estimated 1.4 million members (Driscoll, 2013). Some of the first
predecessors of street gangs were Secret Societies, Gangs of Outlaws in the Wild West,

  • 2. An Evaluation Of A Marketing Audit A marketing audit is a systematic approach to examining existing products and services for strengths and weaknesses. It often focuses on the Ps of marketing including product, price, place, and promotion along with other elements. The purpose of the marketing audit is to appraise the organization s current status and provide recommendations for future action. Darlene Weingand (1999) adapted Philip Kotler s definition of a marketing audit. It s a comprehensive, systematic, independent, periodic examination of the information agency s total environment, objectives, strategies, activities, and resources in order to determine problem areas and opportunities and to recommend a plan of action. An audit is used to identify capabilities and challenges in the organization. This assessment should include both internal and external investigations. The internal aspect focuses on the library itself, while the external aspect explores the larger organization, the local community, and the larger country. The marketing audit provides the basis for making informed decisions about library activities. What s realistic and unrealistic for your organization? What makes your programs unique? • 3. Working With Client Reflection In participating in this experiment, it provided me hands on experience in dealing with a client. In the process of working with my client, I frequently found myself very comfortable with the process; this may have been mainly due to how cooperative my client Scott was. Although it was very comfortable with him, I did find myself on occasion not knowing what say when he asked questions, but I did my best to answer what I could and made it known that I did not know the answer, but was willing to do some outside research. One of the first questions I can remember Scott asking me was, what is the difference between each fruit and vegetables and what do they offer in terms of vitamins and minerals. I did not know how to respond to this, so I replied ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His response was he appreciated how welcoming I was and how comfortable I made him feel. Some other positive feedback he gave was; my honesty to questions I did not know about, he felt that I was very knowledgeable, approachable, honest, reliable, and very people oriented. I also think I did well at communication and getting the client to talk about sensitive information. Getting people to feel comfortable is the first step to establishing rapport with your client. With that rapport comes trust and understanding ultimately leading to more vulnerability and trust between the dietitian and client. Another strength I think is important is approachability, if your client does not feel comfortable talking to you and reaching out in times of need, then you won t be able to establish a rapport outside a clinical setting. During the second protocol, I noticed that I was good at suggesting alternatives foods and ingredients in meal. When it comes to assessing your clients eating habits, finding ways and using tactics to modify already existing diets, especially in case when dealing with diverse cultures and ethnicities is very important. An example I mentioned to Scott during out appointments was discussing portion sizes. During times when Scott would eat ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Her mother died within two days of her birth, and so she feels guilt for her loss and sadness for growing up without a mother. She admires her father, Harry, but he is emotionally distant. As a source of income, Harry owns a funeral business in their home and is more preoccupied with the dead rather than the living, although Vada desperately yearns for his attention. Due to the nature of Harry s business and the fact that his place of work is his home, there is a continual flood of deceased people coming through the home in body bags, which is hard on Vada and forces her into gaining a very precocious knowledge base of death ... Many of Tao Qian s poems illustrate a life of farming and drinking wine, encompassing themes that urge its audience to remove themselves from official life, move to the countryside, and take up a cultivated life of drinking wine, writing poetry, and avoiding the complicated aspects of life such as working in high society. Earlier scholars believed that Tao was neither Confucian nor this worldly, neither egocentric nor defiant, neither gallant nor stubborn, Tao is contented, free from the unnatural, he has got all Nature can offer (Lu 2017). It is evident in Tao Qian s poetry that he utilized nature as a means to escape what reality had to offer, corruption and political instability, as opposed to his own idea of utopia or a simple, easy life in recluse. Tao s An Account of Peach Blossom Spring, has remained a famous piece of Chinese writing throughout history about the discovery of an otherworldly utopia in which the populace led an ideal existence in harmony with nature, unaware of the outside world. Unlike reality at the time, where the tension between the state and the individual had developed fully (Owen 1995, 309), Tao s Peach Blossom Spring is a tranquil magic otherworldly world that idealized a world of freedom and simplicity. Also television can harm a child s development, encourage laziness, and cause you to obtain an addiction to it. There are so many things that you can damage when you watch TV on a regular basis, why do this to yourself? To begin, the first few years of life are very critical for a child s development, why ruin it by using a TV as a babysitter? Research states that children who are always watching TV, or even just have it on as background noise, aren t as likely to develop Theory of mind . Theory of mind is the idea that you aren t the only one that has a mind. Since you can t actually see someone else s mind it s only logical to base it off of you having one , it allows people to come to the realization that other people have beliefs and desires different from their own, children who are constantly exposed to television have a more likely risk of not developing this which can lead to autism, schizophrenia, and other such things. To add, children who are always watching TV are more likely to form an attention disorder and this can result in academic and social trouble. • 29. Permutation Based Encoding This chapter focuses on the evolutionary approaches to optimization problems based on permutation encoded individuals. A new proposed recombination operator for permutation based encoding is described cite{Chira 2012}. The proposed operator is using not only genetic information from the two parents, but from the best individual obtained up to the current generation too. Some of the most widely studied NP hard optimization problems with many applications in domains such as logistics, planning, routing, and scheduling are considered to test the efficiency of the proposed operator. A comparative analysis of several recombination operators is presented based on computational experiments for Traveling Salesman Problem, Vehicle Routing Problem, Resource Constrained Project Scheduling Problem and some generalized versions of these problems. Numerical results emphasize a good performance of the proposed crossover scheme. section{Combinatorial Optimization Problems} label{sec:combopt} A combinatorial optimization problem $(S,C,f)$ is defined by a finite or possibly countable infinite search space $S$, a set of constraints $C={c_1,c_2,...}$ and an objective function $f:S mathbb{R}$. • 31. Emily Dickinson s Poem, Because I Could Not Stop For Death Death is everywhere. From the insect you killed this morning to the family member you lose recently, there is no force stronger than death. Emily Dickinson, a 19th century writer, indulges that fact but also goes beyond it in her work. Dickinson revisits the theme of death in her poetry. Through her work, she shows readers her fascination with death the emotions associated with it. In I heard a Fly buzz when I died and I ve seen a Dying Eye , Dickinson shows us a very intimate view of a person dying. The poem Because I could not stop for Death shows readers the journey to eternity after death and The Bustle in a House shows readers what happens to a family after death. These four poems by Emily Dickinson all share a central theme of death and give readers a very personal understanding of it. Emily Dickinson was born and educated in Massachusetts. She only remained in college for one year but still produced volumes of poetry. She was very introverted and towards the end of her life, she only wore white. Her poetry, as stated by the Academy of American Poets, reflects her loneliness and the speakers of her poems generally live in a state of want, but her poems are also marked by the intimate recollection of inspirational moments which are decidedly life giving and suggest the possibility of happiness ( Emily Dickinson. ). However, her works were never published while she was alive. After her death her family found 800 poems or 40 hand bound volumes ( Emily ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It explores variety within gender roles and the American dream of the times. This is explored when social divisions are highlighted in the text in the phrase would have assumed at once belonged to this world. The worlds that are shown to us are old and new in The Great Gatsby, as there are many that are striving to achieve more wealth to belong to the new world where all the industrial wealth is increasing in rates never seen before. The verb belonged suggests the social status of women in those times, as men were the superior and women were to follow behind as belongings , and the reader has to understand that men had the power and dominance over women. The noun world suggests the divisions between the East side and the West side as they are portraying social divisions throughout 1922 when The Great Gatsby was set. Although An American Tragedy was set in 1925, a little after The Great Gatsby, we have reason to conclude that similar social divisions were still in play. In The Great Gatsby, Nick, the narrator of the novella, sees two kinds of America: the hard working Chicago, part of a Middle West culture; and the white, fashionable East Egg.
