Freedom Is The Highest Point Of Freedom
Freedom has its different demographics and views it can perceived into in which I don t think it can
ever justify to a deserved definition. I think we certainly live in the theory and allusion of freedom but
also compared to a vast amount of countries it is definitely looked upon as a free society. A country
could never reach the highest point of freedom because that is something of the unordinary and we as
a country are more close to freedom than any other country will be. Being able to express ourselves by
voting, voicing opinions, being of whatever sexuality and religion without interference is a remarkable
sense of freedom and luxury many wish to attain. For me specifically, I think the most important
factor of living in the American life is the privilege I have of going to school and being educated. If I
was never given the opportunity of such a tremendous fortune, I could never imagine residing in a
place that would be against it. To me education is not a something that I should fight for it should be a
given, it should be self explanatory as to why it is so extremely important and the fact that some
countries deny their people of such grant is one of the many reasons I believe America to be a free
country. Not being permitted the right to education especially because I am a female is not a form of
life anyone should have to suffer let alone a form of freedom people should be idealized to live with.
Definitely living in the United States gives me the advantage to be

Limitations Imposed By High Water Demands
Limitations imposed by high water demands: Various opinions on implementing water harvesting
techniques fail to consider the important water demand availability conditions. Specifically water
requirement for a particular area is calculated based on current social economic schemes as well as the
pastoral climate, which gets attuned by the resource atmosphere of the village, disposal of various
technologies to access them along with the provincial legislative policies for the specific time frame.
Regions incorporating substantial watered farming methods before, and having good water bequest
along with good policies and governmental support will require more water for agriculture even
though they might face water scarcity. This is the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For Bihar, the concentration is low however cold and sub humid weather eases the requirements for
irrigation considerably. In most of the regions, the chief concern for societies is to access the water for
agriculture and not the physical accessibility of water. For deprived societies, the harvesting of water
fail to offer any cost effective solution for gaining access to the water.
Need for a Cohesive Approach: The volume of runoff along with its occurrence pattern decides how
much surplus amount a particular water harvesting structure can store. A catchment of one kilometer
square experiencing an overall yearly runoff of 20 cm can produce a surface flow of 0.20 MCM.
Generally, the actual pattern decides how much amount could be stored. Short duration, high
concentration rainfalls are normally seen in parched and semi arid parts of India, giving rise to flash
floods. During main monsoon days, most of the runoff takes place, leading to less proficiency of
collection of such runoffs thereby decreasing the capacity of the structures developed for the same.
However, if, large systems are built to store high runoff concentrations, it helps in increasing the
proficiency of collection of runoffs, which leads to expanding cost per unit volume of water stored.
That s why it is argued that, if collected water is directly diverted to the plants for use in parched
areas, then only runoff harvesting should be implemented. In

Leadership Styles Of The Road Management And Authority...
In Chapter 4, Blake and Mouton explain several different leadership styles such as: Impoverished
Management, Middle of the Road Management, Authority Compliance, Country Club Management,
Team Management, Paternalism/Maternalism and Opportunism. After a while of reflection, I
eventually come to the notion that my primary leadership style is the Paternalism/Maternalism, or in
my case Maternalism. Paternalism/Maternalism suggests the leader uses both Country Club
Management and Authority Compliance but does not mix them. This means that they have thoughtful
attention towards the needs of the people to create a comfortable and friendly atmosphere and if need
be, they decide that they will be efficient in their work by disregarding the needs of the people. This
leader acts kindly so that their group is able to accomplish the desired goal. These leaders are often
described as motherly according to their followers, some examples are that they make most of the
decisions, reward loyalty and obedience as well as punishing non cooperation. I believe that I fall into
this category of leadership for many reasons. Although there are some parts of this leadership style
that I do not follow, like, the inability to listen to others ideas and making most of the decisions. I
know that I am pretty open minded when it comes to new ideas and I usually will let people make
decisions for the group if their idea is legitimate and it is appropriate. I actually encourage new ideas

Toshiba
(1) What are the key elements of Toshiba s business strategy in notebook computers? In what way do
Ome s operations support this strategy?
Toshiba retained its position as market leader at that time by beating its competitor with aggressively
priced, technologically superior products. The Ome operation was key to that strategy, because it
enabled Toshiba to produce higher quality products at lower prices. Relentless improvement to the
manufacturing process resulted in higher quality products, making the products more attractive, and
the increases in efficiency generated lower unit costs, which made their products more competitive
and allowed the company to make further investments in quality and exploit an advantage on its ...

And with 8 different models, and 6 different sets of features, Toshiba could sufficiently tailor its
products to their markets without overwhelming the operation with too many templates and options. *
A sophisticated computer network linked Ome with other domestic and overseas Toshiba development
and production sites. This enabled the various operations to share best practices, to identify issues
upstream and downstream, and to coordinate their production. * Workforce:
Ome employs four kinds of workers (full time, part time, temporary and affiliated workers) which
gives Ome flexibility with its production capacity so it can respond to market demands while
managing its labor costs.
Every new professional employee spends one month working on the assembly line before assuming
his or her regular duties. This way, the assembly operation will be more than just an abstraction to
them, and they can perform their tasks with a better awareness of the big picture.
Flexibility and smart redundancy were built into the system. The line employed supporters highly
skilled workers who would roam the assembly line to help out if anyone was falling behind, using
their expertise to keep the line working at top efficiency. Supporters could also stop production if there
were problems. Ome also had pack men workers who could do any job on the line, on all models. The
pack men were able to fill in for any worker, giving the operation a security blanket so

Butler´s Characterization Shori
How could it feel so good when it should be disgusting and painful? (Butler 75) These words spoken
by Theodora, an elderly white woman, about her symbiotic and sometimes sexual relationship with
Shori, a black elfin little girl (Butler 75), express a societal fear that Octavia Butler exposes in her
characterization of Shori as a monster. Jeffrey Jerome Cohen asserts in his Seven Thesis of Monster
Culture that monsters reevaluate our cultural assumptions about race, gender, and sexuality our
perception of difference, and our tolerance toward its expression. (Cohen) Shori is a monster because
her very existence testifies to the blurring of historically concrete lines of difference. She
simultaneously exhibits traits that are male and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Butler presents another challenge to ordinary thinking about gender when she presents the Ina as a
matriarchal society. The venom of female Ina is significantly more potent than male venom. In
addition, male Ina become dependent on Female Ina for procreation. Once they re addicted, they aren t
fertile with other females, and from time to time, they need their females (Butler 89). The
characterization of the Ina society as a matriarchy as well as the fact that Ina men are dependent on Ina
women is evidence that the monsters in Fledgling obscure gender roles that are prevalent in traditional
American society.
Shori also challenges society s fears about sexuality by taking sexual liberties with several partners,
old and young, male and female. The first example of othering in Shori s sex life is that she looks like
a ten year old. It is not acceptable in the minds of most people in American society for a child to be
sexual with adults as in the case of Shori and Wright as well as Shori and Joel. Another example is the
homosexual relationship that Shori embarks upon with Theodora, an elderly woman. I whispered to
her, is it good? She moaned a little satisfied sound (Butler 25). Shori and Theodora enjoy a
relationship that many conservative members of American society would be anxious about She kissed
me. After a moment of surprise, I kissed her back. I held her, and she seemed very comfortable in my
arms (Butler 38). The sexual nature

Schistosomiasis
When people think of diseases, they usually think about the diseases that are most commonly known.
In reality, there are tons of minimally known diseases out there and some that people have not even
heard of. Schistosomiasis, also known as bilharzia, is one of those types of diseases. Although the
pronunciation sounds deadly, this disease is avoidable and the chances of getting infected can be slim
if there is awareness of the following information.
Schistosomiasis, also known as bilharzia, is a parasitic disease that is carried by fresh water snails
infected with one of the five varieties of the parasite Schistosoma. This disease is caused by helminths
specifically blood flukes (trematode worms). The symptoms for this disease vary depending ... Show

Unfortunately, there are no vaccines available to avoid the infection. An oral treatment called
Praziquantel is the most common treatment that is given for Schistosomiasis. This treatment is
effective, low cost, and safe. Reinfection can occur but the risk for a severe case of Schistosomiasis to
develop is much lower. Schistosomiasis can also be prevented by avoiding swimming in freshwaters
in countries where Schistosomiasis is common such as the Caribbean, South America, and Africa. It is
advisable to research the country that you are traveling to beforehand and inform yourself of diseases
prevalent in that country. Also, the most important tip is to drink safe water. Even though you cannot
get infected with consuming contaminated water, infection can occur if the contaminated water
touches your lips or skin on the face. Schistosomiasis is not prevalent in the United States. It is more
commonly found in tropical or subtropical areas and countries that are higher in poverty with poor
sanitation. It is highly important that travelers that plan to travel to countries known to have
Schistosomiasis cases avoid bathing or swimming in freshwaters. It is also recommended that water
used for bathing should be boiled for up to 1 minute to get rid of cecariae.
Schistosomiasis is a serious disease that can become deadly if the proper treatments or preventions are
neglected. It s important to not be blind of the fact that diseases

Pratt Institute Vs. The Royal College Of Art
In this research paper I will be taking a look at two prestigious art and design schools. Each of these
schools is world renowned and highly ranked, and has many famous alumni. I will also feature some
of the famous artists and designers that have graduated from the schools over the years. The two
schools are The Pratt Institute in New York, and The Royal College of Art or RCA in London,
England. The Pratt Institute is a private institution that was founded in 1887 by Charles Pratt as a
vocational college but has evolved into an institution offering courses in a wide variety of art, design,
architecture, information and library science, and liberal arts and sciences . It has a total enrollment of

Notable alumni include actors Robert Redford and Martin Landau, William Van Alen, the architect of
the Chrysler Building, fashion designers Norman Norell, Betsey Johnson and Jeremy Scott, and artists
George Segal and Juan Munoz. The early days at Pratt were not as popular as it is today and the first
day of class had only 12 students enrolled in its drawing classes. Charles Pratt was not worried about
the low numbers and famously said that, if we do right by the 12, we may have 13 next week, and if
we do right by 13, we may have 14 the week after, and that is the way to grow. He was rights and just
five months later enrollment had grown to 307 students who were doing classes ranging from
stenography to sewing and a few months later that number had grown even more to 1,500 students.
Unfortunately Charles Pratt only lived for four more years, but his vision was passed on to his sons
who were all involved in running the school over the next years. Over the years, the curriculum has
been reworked and brought up to date to reflect the demands of the industries and new faculty
members are brought in to modernize courses and keep the education that the Pratt Institute offers
relevant and current. An example of this realization that the content of the curriculum should be
constantly updated to reflect new ideas is in the Industrial Design department when in 1936 industrial
design legends Alexander Kostellow and Rowena Reed were invited to join the faculty of the new
industrial design program, and so doing they revolutionized the education for first year students by
introducing a new curriculum of Design and Structure incorporating abstract elements that came from
the Bauhaus

Essay on The Transformation of a Dream Deferred by...
In Langston Hughes poem, A Dream Deferred, Hughes wonders what happens to a dream that does
not come true. He writes, Maybe it just sags like a heavy load. Or does it explode? In A Raisin in the
Sun, by Lorraine Hansberry, Walter shows that his deferred dream does both. Early in the play, he
shares his hopes and dreams for his family and their future with his young son, Travis. He imagines
that earning his fortune will cure all the shortcomings and injustices in their lives. The limitations of
Walter s aspirations for himself and his family undermine his ability to save his family. Walter s
acceptance of unjust systems, which makes one man master and another one servant, compromises the
power of Walter s dream. By showing that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Walter s behavior in this passage is self absorbed and childish, and Hansberry highlights the problems
in several ways. For example, Walter s trails off when he refers to a business transaction that his son
would not understand. This moment suggests that Walter does not really have interest in his young
son, who he claims to be helping. Hansberry has already shown in the play that young Travis may
understand quite a bit about business. After all, toward the start of the play, Travis urgently asks his
mother to give him the money he needs to make a donation to his class. Travis is well aware that
money can open doors and create advantages for people, and he is much more developed than his
father realizes. Similarly, Hansberry shows Walter s shallowness by removing any curiosity or
questions from his speech. Walter never asks Travis what his own dream might be. Instead, Walter
pushes a his dream down Travis s throat, and imagines that Travis will happily play the role that
Walter has cast him in. Additionally, the speech makes no reference to the possible downfalls of
pursuing money. Walter seems to forget Mama Younger s famous remark, when she reminds him that
freedom was everything. Of course,

Racism And Its Effects On Young Black Males
Racism throughout time has had a powerful negative force in society. There have been many efforts
made to relieve racism. Racism is still present in America, although many people are doing their best
to put a stop to racism and its somewhat devastating effects on young black males in society. You
never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view... Until you climb
inside of his skin and walk around in it. (Lee) The negative stereotypes and racial profiling that
Americans hand down from generation to generation are damaging not only to the minorities but to
those perpetuating them as well. The behaviors that are kept alive because of these negative
stereotypes and the behaviors associated with them, create an emotional and social struggle as well as
presenting obstacles when receiving an education and employment opportunities. Racism is the
mishandling or understanding of a group of people on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin,
place of origin, or ancestry. The term racism may also denote a blind and unreasoning hatred, envy, or
prejudice (New Brunswick Human Rights Commission). Although racism is a controversial topic,
other issues have experienced just as much contention. One of these is discrimination. Discrimination
is the denial of equal rights because of someones personal features, such as their race or color. Racial
jokes and ethnic slurs are blatant examples of racial discrimination. Racial slurs and jokes make

The Problem With Illegal Aliens
Introduction Despite the multiple laws and policies that were implemented in the United States, there
is still a problem with illegal aliens or immigrants. The U.S. government has spent millions of dollars
to secure our southern border but, with that being said, the government has charged the Department of
Homeland Security to create and implement new and innovative ways to justify and solidify those
polices. In this case study, there will be a focus and analytical approach to three of the main issues
which continue to surface on immigration enforcement. These issues are: who is an illegal alien; who
can detain illegal aliens; and when can they be deported?

along with many others lead to the demise of the company many years later. Many illegal aliens

Who can detain illegal aliens? Any law enforcement branch including the Department of Homeland

The Storm In the story, The Storm, Kate Chopin tells a reader about what had occurred during a storm

Contributions Of Thomas Paine
18th Century Thomas Paine was born February 9th, 1737 in Thetford, United Kingdom. Paine was an
influential thinker, writer, and philosopher. He wrote many great works and greatly contributed to the
foundation of America. His most influential works were Common Sense and Rights of Man. Paine s
pamphlet, Common Sense, called for American independence based on a just republican government.
Common Sense became a bestseller, and set the tone for American independence. George Washington
would often read out the writings of Paine in order to inspire his men during the American Revolution.
Thomas Paine s Rights of Man stated that the government should not only support mankind s natural
rights, but also its civil rights, or the right of individuals to receive equal treatment. Without Paine s
writings, America might not have gained its independence, and we might not possess our civil rights.
19th Century Harriet Beecher Stowe, born June 14th, 1811, was a writer and an anti slavery
campaigner. Stowe is best known for her book Uncle Tom s Cabin. Her book tells about the life of a
slave, and all of the hardships he endured. Uncle Tom s Cabin was meant to spread the word of how
cruel slavery was, and to influence people to end it. In the North, the book promoted the anti slavery
movement, but it enraged the South, and led to the book s opposition. This book fueled the
disagreement of slavery between the North and the South, sparking the beginning of the Civil War. It
was later said that Stow was the the little woman who started the big war. Not only did Harriet
Beecher Stowe influence others through her words, she also influenced them through her actions, by
taking part in the underground railroad. Some of the slaves that she aided during her time in the
underground railroad mirrored characters in Uncle Tom s Cabin.

Blood Imagery In Macbeth Analysis
In western society the mass population is solemnly exposed to bloodshed seen in the rest of the world.
It can be seen that in this society blood and violence act as the undoing of psyches and produce
anarchy. Blood is and always will be the plight of man. In William Shakespeare s Macbeth, blood
imagery acts as the driving force of character development and collapse of their morality. It is
primarily used the frame the evolution of psychological insanity in Macbeth through continuous
murder and lunacy in Lady Macbeth with overwhelming guilt.
The undoing of Macbeth s psychological stability can be seen early on in the play. Macbeth is
originally described to the audience as noble, loyal and valiant so even the idea of murdering his
beloved king defies his entire moral code. This in turn causes him to hallucinate stating Is this a
dagger which I see before me... I have thee not yet I see thee still... art thou but a dagger of the mind, a
false creation... and on thy blade and dudgeon gouts of blood...It is the bloody business that informs
thus to mine eyes. (2.1.40 56). The dagger Macbeth sees is the first sign of mental anguish and
breakdown. The dagger is a metaphor for the guilt and ambition Macbeth has built up inside of him.
The blood he sees on the dagger shows there is still loyalty and nobility within him. It shows that he
knows the consequences of the action he is about to commit. To the surprisal of the audience Macbeth
recognizes this insanity and when stating it is the

The Battle Of The War Essay
IV. Essay On December twenty third of the year 1776, Thomas Paine wrote the renowned words,
These are the times that try men s souls. Never had truer words been written. Not only was the
revolution trying for the men of the colonial army, but for the British army, and all those who had
something riding on the outcome of the war. Though they were subjected to different sides of the war,
George Washington, King George III of England and William Howe all experienced the hardships and
trying times of the year 1776. General George Washington knew that he lacked experience with
almost all aspects of the war. He had retired from military life fifteen years before the revolution, and
had never led an army in battle, commanded anything more than a regiment or directed a siege. He
accepted the command of the army on June 16, 1775 where he warned Congress, [should] some
unlucky event happen unfavorable to my reputation...may it be remembered by every gentleman in the
room that I this day declared with the utmost sincerity, I do not think myself equal to the command I
am honored with. (McCullough Pg. 49) Washington knew his limits, but what he did not know was the
state of disarray that the army was in. Washington arrived in Boston the first week of July, 1775. No
head count had been taken, and when an official count was taken, Washington learned that instead of
the twenty thousand men he had been informed he had, he had sixteen thousand with only fourteen
thousand fit for duty.

The Psychological Factors Of The Bathroom Bill
The Psychological Factors of the Bathroom Bill Next month will make a year that everyone has kept
their eye out on North Carolina due to the House Bill 2, also known as the bathroom bill, they passed
March 23rd of 2016. The particular bill requires transgender people to use the restroom of the gender
assigned to them at birth. It also banned any minimum wage increases or anti discrimination statutes
local governments might pass (McCLELLAND 40). Not only did this aggravate the LGBT

In a Q A with Walter Bockting, PhD, a member of the APA Task Force on Guidelines for
Psychological Practice with Transgender and Gender Non Conforming Clients. he further explained
the differences between transgender, gender identity, and sexual orientation (APA). According to
Bockting, a transgender means having a gender identity that differs from the sex assigned at birth.
Then continues by stating, gender identity is the basic conviction of being man, woman, or other. He
lastly defines sexual orientation as to one s sexual attraction, behavior, and emotional attachments to
men, women, or both. All of these are his psychological definitions, which he mainly uses when
discussing the challenges transgender people face. In attribute to social stress, transgender people are
more vulnerable to symptoms of depression and anxiety (APA). They also struggle with self esteem,
they ask themselves questions on why they should be who they are if society is saying
NO.Understanding and compassionate mental health providers have often been an important part of
that. This bill has caused so many to speak out, transgenders and their supporters have protested, made
speeches, tweeted, they have done anything to get the word out for what they believe in. A transgender
man, Joaquin Carcano, has definitely had a lot to say, but he spoke out because he is tired. He is tired

Navajo Nation s General Transportation Plan
An Evaluation of the Navajo Nation s General Transportation Plan
If everything in life is very simple and predictable, then we do not need any planning, (Kim).
However, this is not the case today because most developing cities and communities need planning in
order to guide their goals and visions for future land use. A document called a general plan (also
known as a comprehensive plan), helps guide developing cities and communities with a detailed
framework for its land use. The Navajo Nation, one of the largest Indian reservations in the United
States, is an example of a community that utilizes a general plan. In December 2009, the Navajo
Nation submitted the Navajo Nation Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) to the Transportation

NTS operates on seven fixed routes connecting small urban areas and also connects with other transit
systems like Greyhound Busline. The use of NTS has increased from 66,000 to 80,000 riders over a
two year period (LRTP II F2). Due to poor road conditions the safety for NTS has become an issue.
The general plans provided background information on the Navajo Nation Indian Reservation Road
(IRR) system and this helps to understand how the nation s road network operates. Since the nation
overlaps different boundaries the IRR system administers the various highway programs, these include
tribal, state, county, Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA), and other agency roads. Almost half of the nation
s highways are BIA roads and majority is unpaved. The interesting part of this section is how these
roads are different agency roads but the nation manages to overlook all these roads through the IRR
system.
In conclusion, the transportation system on the Navajo Nation needs vast improvements to benefit its
people. For a general plan, the transportation plan is one of the most important elements for cities and
communities. When planning, it is very important to learn and know the area, city or community. A
city or community will be forever changing and developing. For this reason, a city or community will
need a plan to develop, maintain, and improve its use of

Compare And Contrast Christianity And Islam Worldview
Christian and Islam Worldview comparison: As Christians we all have a solid understanding on the
history and worldview of our religion however; we need to review how this compares to the
worldview of Islam. This is very important if one is potentially going to work in a place where the
primary culture is Muslim. In Christianity the scripture has taught us the our faith was first created
from Judaism with our belief of the foundation of Jesus Christ his death and resurrection. One main
difference is as Christians we know there is just one God however; we know that God is the Father,
the son and the holy spirit. The Islam faith believes that God is just one with Allah, Yahweh and God
all being one but believe that Jesus Christ was a prophet but not the son of God (Mohamad, 1997).
There is also the difference in the worldview of sin as Christians we believe in the first sin that was
created by Adam and Eve. Islam faith views that sins committed by others would not be something
that God would punish them for but only sins are impacted by only those who actually commit the sin.
In the Qur an the text states No person earns any sin except against himself only, and no bearer of
burdens shall bear the burden of another (Qur an 6:164). The belief of salvation is also a very different
worldview between both religions. Christians we believe the only way to salvation through our Father,
the Son and the Holy Spirit and we must accept these into our heart. Muslims believe in

The Between Camp Four And The Summit
Many factors contributed to the bottlenecks between Camp Four and the summit, including: The fact
that no Sherpas left ahead of the climbers to fix ropes to aid in climbing above the Balcony, which left
the climbers waiting while Beidleman, a guide, fixed the ropes; the Taiwanese team, who were
climbing very slowly and all together, making it impossible to pass them, therefore creating delays for
the climbers behind them; and the fact that once the ascent had begun, Hall s Sherpas were not eager
to assist in fixing the ropes, presumably because they were angry that Fischer s Sherpas were not
sharing the workload as had been originally planned.
Krakauer was critical of Boukreev in this section of the climb because Boukreev was not using
supplemental oxygen or a backpack, both of which Krakauer felt he should have had in the case of an
emergency, as Boukreev was a guide, and charged with helping and protecting the clients, an ability
which Krakauer thought was inhibited by this lack of oxygen and supplies, especially considering how
much the high altitude and thin air affects the ability to think clearly.
Just before reaching the summit, despite the fact that he was having difficulty breathing, Krakauer was
actually quite calm but disoriented, and relatively excited about the prospect of reaching the summit.
However, at the moment of his summit, he did not feel the elation that he expected, but rather
apprehension and dread about what he knew to be a difficult descent.

Comparing the Mormon Religion to Catholic and Protestant...
Comparing the Mormon Religion to Catholic and Protestant Faiths
The Mormon religion is very unique in many of its doctrine. While technically a Protestant faith, the
Mormons generally share more doctrine with the Catholics. Because of its unique nature, I will be
analyzing the Mormon faith, its history, organization, and doctrine, in comparison with the beliefs held
by both Catholics and Protestants.
Establishment
On April 6, 1980, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints (aka the Mormon Church) was
founded. [It is interesting to note that according to Mormon doctrine (Doctrine and Covenants 20:1),
April 6 is the birthday of Jesus Christ.] 10 years prior to this event, in 1820, fourteen year old Joseph

Both Martin Luther and John Wesley shared the belief that Catholic faith had strayed from the truth as
is seen in their respective quotes: I have sought nothing beyond reforming the Church in conformity
with the Holy Scriptures. . . . . . . I simply say that Christianity has ceased to exist among those who
should have preserved it. (Luther and His Times, E.G. Schweibert) and It does not appear that these
extraordinary gifts of the Holy Ghost were common in the Church for more than two or three
centuries. We seldom hear of them after that fatal period when the
Emperor Constantine called himself a Christian; . . . From this time they almost totally ceased; . . . The
Christians had no more of the Spirit of Christ than the other Heathens . . . . This was the real cause
why the extraordinary gifts of the Holy Ghost were no longer to be found in the Christian Church;
because the Christians were turned Heathens again, and had only a dead form left. (The Works of John
Wesley, vol. 7)
While the Mormons agree with other Protestants that the Catholic Church had become corrupt with its
indulgences , purchase of church offices, etc., the Mormons differed somewhat in their solution to this
problem. The Protestants sought to reform the problems they saw evident in the Catholic faith. The
Mormons, however, believing that all faiths upon the Earth had fallen away from the true church
established by Christ, sought to restore

Building The Economic Case For The Preservation Of Open Space
TITLE
Building the economic case for the preservation of open space: An analysis of the limitations and
advantages to utilizing the Benefit Transfer Method toward natural capital and ecosystem valuation.
AUDIENCE
My primary audience includes local, regional and state urban planners and policy makers who are
considering Benefit Transfer Methodology (BTM) as a tool to preserve open space and ecosystem
services through policymaking and/or political influence. Additionally, environmental organizations
and land stewards in California could find value in the conclusions of this report as they deliberate
which planning resources to use toward progressing their respective agendas.
Notably, the findings drawn from this report are not exclusive to California and can be helpful to
different areas around the United States as they approach land use decisions unique to their
jurisdiction. Finally, independent groups who may find this research useful include the
environmentally conscious subset of California s population and certain businesses concerned with the
consumption and sustainability of California s natural resources and the tools available to meet this
issue.
BACKGROUND
What is Benefit Transfer Methodology (BTM)?

A Research Field On My Life Career
Research is a very important aspect of any professional field that many students fail to notice. As far
as my understanding, backbone of any professional field consists of two important parts, the academic
part; knowledge and practical aspect, and the research part. The academic part helps the professionals
to apply the knowledge in the practical life, but the research part is the one that provides all the
knowledge and does mostly all the behind the scene work. That is why it would be preferred for every
student in their respective discipline to participate and explore research in their respective field. This is
the reason as to why I want to participate in the research field relating to my Medicine career.
Research is very useful because it helps in expanding previous knowledge and adding new knowledge
for any particular discipline. Not only that, research helps students to get the better understanding of
what they are studying in classes and lectures. It provides student the background knowledge of the
stuff they learn in a classroom. This prepares students to expand their horizon, think outside the box,
critically analyze using the scientific method, and helps students to use their behind the scene
knowledge to experiment and discover new things. Thus research ultimately helps in the adding new
knowledge to the disciple.

Archetypes In O Brother Where Art Thou
Throughout the movie O Brother, Where Art Thou, classic storytelling through archetypes is reworked
into a more modern time in order to create the unique gem that it is. Archetypes are a general persona
of a character that is repeated many times through films and literature, they define the character and
give meaning to their roles. Archetypes have been used ever since stories were made, from the
Odyssey to even Percy Jackson. Archetypes tend to set the stage for the story, and get revealed
throughout the story adding more life and energy to it. Three examples of archetypes expressed very
well through characters in the movie are the hero, the alter ego, and the temptress.
First off, every story has it s own hero, a larger than life character that often goes on some kind of
journey or quest while demonstrating specific qualities and abilities . This describes the hero of O
Brother, Where Art Thou, a man called Everett, very well. Everett is the guy who starts the trio s
whole adventure, a man on a mission. He tells the other guys that the mission is to get some treasure,
but in reality Everett is trying to get his wife and family back. Throughout their journey, he is the
obvious leader of the group; the other guys look up to him and follow him in whatever he does in
order to get to the treasure . Everett shows that he is a hero is when, after Delmar and Pete find out
that there is actually no treasure and he just needed to escape with them because they were all tied

Glass Ceiling And Discrimination Of Women In The Workplace
It is no secret or surprise that women have always, and continue to be paid less than men in the
workplace. Not only that, but women are also put in low status jobs, no matter their qualifications; a
lot of women are put in a box when it comes to their jobs or careers. It is mind blowing that women
are still facing inequality when it comes to work, considering we are living in very liberal times.
Women in work tend to go unnoticed, it might be because our nation and our world are so used to
women usually getting the shorter end of the stick, but it needs to be talked about more if we want
equality. When speaking about women in work, it is important to talk about the typical jobs women
take on that are sometimes low in status. First off, women are more likely to be employed in unpaid
care work and housework. They take these jobs because of the time availability, relative resource
perspectives, and the symbolic representation of their gender. When women take on paid jobs, it ends
up being balanced with unpaid work because of maternity leaves. All these normality s for women are

A Stronger And Unified European Union
SCENARIO ONE: A stronger and unified European Union
The first possible scenario in the next decade is a daring rise toward much closer integration. This
scenario is probably the most desirable but also the most elusive one. In this scenario, France and
Germany will take the leap forward and lead the group towards fiscal and political union. Countries in
the region will reduce their debt and liberalize their labor markets allowing free movement of workers

The Euro will be expanded with the incorporation of Poland, Hungary, Croatia, Romania, Bulgaria
and possibly the United Kingdom, reaching twenty five members, which will increase a greater
budgetary capacity and thus countries in this group will be required to act together. Eurobonds are also
an obvious option for the mid term economic recovery. Still it is not clear the effects of the bonds on
the economy, but it will be necessary to create a European Treasury Department that can issue and
control them.
Also, to promote a greater control by the European institutions, there is a need to establish
mechanisms of supervision of the financial system. These tools will encourage greater collaboration
and connection between economies to prevent a future crisis. The European Union will also invest in
long term projects in the productive sectors to promote competitiveness, research and innovation in
the European economy. This new approach will enable well prepared societies capable to tackle the
economic and financial downturns.
In the medium term, the fight against low employment rate will also be important, particularly in a
time where there are more than 21 million unemployed in the European Union . Many of them young
people under 25 years old (around 5 million in the EU). To counter the effects of unemployment, the
European Union will reinforce its Youth Guarantee program. This program establishes that young

Importance Of The Birth Of Modern Science
1. Why are bridge laws important for Fodor? Explain in detail.
Bridge laws are important because they are required for reductionism to work. Bridge laws let us
know that everything is equivalent. Without these, everything wouldn t be able to all be reduced to the
same level. Without bridge laws it wouldn t be possible for us to make generalizations because there is
no way or point to make that everything is equivalent. We wouldn t be able to reduce concepts without
these. With that being stated, reductionism isn t possible far as now according to Fodor. 2. Why is the
birth of modern science (c.1500 1700) important to how we understand knowledge and disciplinary
divisions today? Explain in detail.
The birth of modern science is important to how we understand knowledge and disciplinary divisions
today because it lays out the reason why we have to take the classes we take now. With science
stripping out the teleological element and just pushing everything down to facts, it left the question of
what should we do with everything that was removed. With that, the answer resulted in having the
humanities provide this for us as it holds the teleological element and essentially keeps the part of the
human qualia alive. Due to all of this, we have to take two extra years worth of schooling for the
benefit from the supplement of the teleological half. If we didn t have the extra two years, we would

As explained in the book International Business , the term economic globalization means increasing
economic interdependence of national, regional and local economies across the world through
acceleration of cross border movements of goods, services, technology, and capital (Joshi). Many
people s first impression of economic globalization would be the significant economic growth and

Therefore, economies that joined globalization grow significantly faster and steadier, and the growth,
in turn, will prompt developments in poverty reduction.
Economic growth is the most powerful instrument for reducing poverty and improving the quality of
life in developing countries by creating jobs, transforming society and driving human development. As
trade goes on, economic globalization introduces new companies to another and increases
employment across the globe. When people have a job, they have a relatively stable income, and thus
become better off than before. One key of UN Millennium Goals is to halve the proportion of people
living under the international poverty line of $1.25 per day by 2015 from its 1990 level. Thanks to the
amazing speed of economic globalization, this prime target of the Millennium Development Goals
was achieved around 2008, seven years earlier than planned (Chandy and Gertz). It is more surprising
that only the six years from 2005 to 2011 would likely reduce half a million of people in poverty while
the same feat had taken 25 years up to 2005. Needless to say, the speed continues to increase.
Economic globalization is never simply a notion suggesting theoretical benefits in textbook, but has
been making great actual progress in the recent decades.
China has been the biggest winner in this reallocation of resources and

Why I Am Interested Of Taking The Chromatin, Epigenetics,...
No man s knowledge can go beyond his experience , this statement by John Locke captures the
essence of why I am interested in taking the Chromatin, Epigenetics, and Gene Expression course. I
have always had a lifelong thirst for knowledge. As a child I was always asking questions about why
or how things worked. I would always tinker with things, taking them apart and reassembling them. I
questioned pretty much everything and longed to be able to do experiments and find solutions to
unanswered questions on my own. In high school, I volunteered, participated in athletics, held
leadership roles in several clubs, and also worked part time. Despite my many extracurricular
activities, I never lost my thirst for knowledge and academic success remained my foremost goal. To
challenge myself I enrolled in the most advanced courses available and took classes offered from a
nearby community college, I graduated with both a high school diploma and an Associate s Degree.
Motivated by my life experiences, I began my collegiate career at Virginia Tech (VT) as a biological
sciences major. In short time I decided that I would pursue a dual degree, adding psychology on as
another major. It was at VT that I would get my first opportunities to further my experience alongside
my knowledge. This experience would come in the form of research. As a freshman I worked in the

The Three Trunks Of The Plexus
Rick Winstead
Steve Hammons
PTA 150
2/13/15
Brachial Plexus At first glance, the brachial plexus may be a bit intimidating. The nerves arising from
it and the muscles of the trunk and upper extremity of which it innervates may seem overwhelming,
but as one begins the process of adding all of the components together in an orderly fashion, it begins
to be seen in a much more easily understood manner. The first step in this process is to gain a grasp on
the basic main structure of the plexus, and then gradually build on that foundation. The basic
organization is split into five areas. These are the roots, trunks, divisions, cords, and terminal
branches. The five roots originate from spinal nerves C5, C6, C7, C8, and T1. It is important to
remember that these five areas contain both motor and sensory components. Next are the three trunks
of the plexus. The roots of C5 and C6 combine to form the upper trunk, C7 continues on its own to
form the middle trunk, and the lower trunk is formed by C8 and T1. Each trunk then divides into an
anterior and posterior division. The divisions then combine to form cords. The anterior divisions of the
upper and middle trunk combine to form the lateral cord, the anterior division of the lower trunk forms
the medial cord, and all three posterior divisions combine to make the posterior cord. Finally, the

Gender Roles In King Lear
When observing gender in our society, women and men are stereotyped with specific roles. Men have
always been seen as the family s main source of income whereas the women take care of their home
and children. However, Shakespeare challenges these gender roles in his play with the three female
characters Goneril, Regan, and Cordelia. While all three are independent, powerful women and even
lead their armies into battle, the men seem to be foolish and weak such as King Lear and Albany.
Furthermore, Mira cel Batran makes a point in her essay, Feminist Reading of William Shakespeare s
King Lear , that although women are regarded as dependent on men, Shakespeare explains that it can
be the exact opposite. The men seem to depend on the women such as King Lear depending on
Cordelia and Albany depending on Goneril. Shakespeare, in his play, King Lear, portrays women who
are strong and intelligent and men who are weak or overpowered by female characters, challenging
the societal belief that women are inherently less than or dependent on men. Firstly, the entire play is
structured around the women and what they do. If Shakespeare was not trying to make a claim on
gender roles then he would not have added merely three women. Right from the beginning, King Lear
is foolish enough to think that giving his kingdom away would be wise. The play from then on
revolves around Cordelia s defiance and Regan and Goneril s hypocritic actions towards their father.
In other words, Shakespeare

frugality, or knowledge. A morality based approach takes into consideration ethics and values, while a
profit based approach focuses on making as much money as possible. Although there were ways
colonial American economies were influenced by profit, colonial American economies were more
influenced by morals due to the features and values of their economic system. To begin with, people
are making use of natural resources by making them into something ... Show more content on

This can be seen in luxurious lifestyles such as William Byrd s, in which he constantly reads, such as
Homer, Hebrew and Dutch. Franklin also expresses the idea of knowledge in a sense of morality by
explaining that it is important to be able to be advised, for without that one cannot be helped, and
therefore cannot learn. It was important to be able to learn in order to know what things lead to wealth.
For example, agriculture was a vital aspect of the colonial economy. It was important to note that
Staple Crops, such as tobacco, wheat, and corn, were the crops that helped provide a foundation in
which the colonies were able to grow rapidly. This is because most Puritans were farmers, and in order
for them to keep up with the economy and obtain more wealth, they had to take a morality based
approach on knowledge and

  • 2. Freedom Is The Highest Point Of Freedom Freedom has its different demographics and views it can perceived into in which I don t think it can ever justify to a deserved definition. I think we certainly live in the theory and allusion of freedom but also compared to a vast amount of countries it is definitely looked upon as a free society. A country could never reach the highest point of freedom because that is something of the unordinary and we as a country are more close to freedom than any other country will be. Being able to express ourselves by voting, voicing opinions, being of whatever sexuality and religion without interference is a remarkable sense of freedom and luxury many wish to attain. For me specifically, I think the most important factor of living in the American life is the privilege I have of going to school and being educated. If I was never given the opportunity of such a tremendous fortune, I could never imagine residing in a place that would be against it. To me education is not a something that I should fight for it should be a given, it should be self explanatory as to why it is so extremely important and the fact that some countries deny their people of such grant is one of the many reasons I believe America to be a free country. Not being permitted the right to education especially because I am a female is not a form of life anyone should have to suffer let alone a form of freedom people should be idealized to live with. Definitely living in the United States gives me the advantage to be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Specifically water requirement for a particular area is calculated based on current social economic schemes as well as the pastoral climate, which gets attuned by the resource atmosphere of the village, disposal of various technologies to access them along with the provincial legislative policies for the specific time frame. Regions incorporating substantial watered farming methods before, and having good water bequest along with good policies and governmental support will require more water for agriculture even though they might face water scarcity. This is the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For Bihar, the concentration is low however cold and sub humid weather eases the requirements for irrigation considerably. In most of the regions, the chief concern for societies is to access the water for agriculture and not the physical accessibility of water. For deprived societies, the harvesting of water fail to offer any cost effective solution for gaining access to the water. Need for a Cohesive Approach: The volume of runoff along with its occurrence pattern decides how much surplus amount a particular water harvesting structure can store. A catchment of one kilometer square experiencing an overall yearly runoff of 20 cm can produce a surface flow of 0.20 MCM. Generally, the actual pattern decides how much amount could be stored. Short duration, high concentration rainfalls are normally seen in parched and semi arid parts of India, giving rise to flash floods. During main monsoon days, most of the runoff takes place, leading to less proficiency of collection of such runoffs thereby decreasing the capacity of the structures developed for the same. However, if, large systems are built to store high runoff concentrations, it helps in increasing the proficiency of collection of runoffs, which leads to expanding cost per unit volume of water stored. That s why it is argued that, if collected water is directly diverted to the plants for use in parched areas, then only runoff harvesting should be implemented. In ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Leadership Styles Of The Road Management And Authority... In Chapter 4, Blake and Mouton explain several different leadership styles such as: Impoverished Management, Middle of the Road Management, Authority Compliance, Country Club Management, Team Management, Paternalism/Maternalism and Opportunism. After a while of reflection, I eventually come to the notion that my primary leadership style is the Paternalism/Maternalism, or in my case Maternalism. Paternalism/Maternalism suggests the leader uses both Country Club Management and Authority Compliance but does not mix them. This means that they have thoughtful attention towards the needs of the people to create a comfortable and friendly atmosphere and if need be, they decide that they will be efficient in their work by disregarding the needs of the people. This leader acts kindly so that their group is able to accomplish the desired goal. These leaders are often described as motherly according to their followers, some examples are that they make most of the decisions, reward loyalty and obedience as well as punishing non cooperation. I believe that I fall into this category of leadership for many reasons. Although there are some parts of this leadership style that I do not follow, like, the inability to listen to others ideas and making most of the decisions. I know that I am pretty open minded when it comes to new ideas and I usually will let people make decisions for the group if their idea is legitimate and it is appropriate. (Butler 75) These words spoken by Theodora, an elderly white woman, about her symbiotic and sometimes sexual relationship with Shori, a black elfin little girl (Butler 75), express a societal fear that Octavia Butler exposes in her characterization of Shori as a monster. Jeffrey Jerome Cohen asserts in his Seven Thesis of Monster Culture that monsters reevaluate our cultural assumptions about race, gender, and sexuality our perception of difference, and our tolerance toward its expression. He writes, Maybe it just sags like a heavy load. Or does it explode? In A Raisin in the Sun, by Lorraine Hansberry, Walter shows that his deferred dream does both. Early in the play, he shares his hopes and dreams for his family and their future with his young son, Travis. He imagines that earning his fortune will cure all the shortcomings and injustices in their lives. Hansberry has already shown in the play that young Travis may understand quite a bit about business. Travis is well aware that money can open doors and create advantages for people, and he is much more developed than his father realizes. Instead, Walter pushes a his dream down Travis s throat, and imagines that Travis will happily play the role that Walter has cast him in. The general plans provided background information on the Navajo Nation Indian Reservation Road (IRR) system and this helps to understand how the nation s road network operates. Since the nation overlaps different boundaries the IRR system administers the various highway programs, these include tribal, state, county, Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA), and other agency roads. Almost half of the nation s highways are BIA roads and majority is unpaved. The interesting part of this section is how these roads are different agency roads but the nation manages to overlook all these roads through the IRR system. In conclusion, the transportation system on the Navajo Nation needs vast improvements to benefit its people. For a general plan, the transportation plan is one of the most important elements for cities and communities. When planning, it is very important to learn and know the area, city or community. • 24. Compare And Contrast Christianity And Islam Worldview Christian and Islam Worldview comparison: As Christians we all have a solid understanding on the history and worldview of our religion however; we need to review how this compares to the worldview of Islam. This is very important if one is potentially going to work in a place where the primary culture is Muslim. In Christianity the scripture has taught us the our faith was first created from Judaism with our belief of the foundation of Jesus Christ his death and resurrection. One main difference is as Christians we know there is just one God however; we know that God is the Father, the son and the holy spirit. The Islam faith believes that God is just one with Allah, Yahweh and God all being one but believe that Jesus Christ was a prophet but not the son of God (Mohamad, 1997). There is also the difference in the worldview of sin as Christians we believe in the first sin that was created by Adam and Eve. Islam faith views that sins committed by others would not be something that God would punish them for but only sins are impacted by only those who actually commit the sin. In the Qur an the text states No person earns any sin except against himself only, and no bearer of burdens shall bear the burden of another (Qur an 6:164). The belief of salvation is also a very different worldview between both religions. Christians we believe the only way to salvation through our Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit and we must accept these into our heart. Muslims believe in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 26. The Between Camp Four And The Summit Many factors contributed to the bottlenecks between Camp Four and the summit, including: The fact that no Sherpas left ahead of the climbers to fix ropes to aid in climbing above the Balcony, which left the climbers waiting while Beidleman, a guide, fixed the ropes; the Taiwanese team, who were climbing very slowly and all together, making it impossible to pass them, therefore creating delays for the climbers behind them; and the fact that once the ascent had begun, Hall s Sherpas were not eager to assist in fixing the ropes, presumably because they were angry that Fischer s Sherpas were not sharing the workload as had been originally planned. Krakauer was critical of Boukreev in this section of the climb because Boukreev was not using supplemental oxygen or a backpack, both of which Krakauer felt he should have had in the case of an emergency, as Boukreev was a guide, and charged with helping and protecting the clients, an ability which Krakauer thought was inhibited by this lack of oxygen and supplies, especially considering how much the high altitude and thin air affects the ability to think clearly. Just before reaching the summit, despite the fact that he was having difficulty breathing, Krakauer was actually quite calm but disoriented, and relatively excited about the prospect of reaching the summit. However, at the moment of his summit, he did not feel the elation that he expected, but rather apprehension and dread about what he knew to be a difficult descent. Chapter ... We seldom hear of them after that fatal period when the Emperor Constantine called himself a Christian; . . . From this time they almost totally ceased; . . . The Christians had no more of the Spirit of Christ than the other Heathens . . . . This was the real cause why the extraordinary gifts of the Holy Ghost were no longer to be found in the Christian Church; because the Christians were turned Heathens again, and had only a dead form left. Archetypes have been used ever since stories were made, from the Odyssey to even Percy Jackson. When speaking about women in work, it is important to talk about the typical jobs women take on that are sometimes low in status. First off, women are more likely to be employed in unpaid care work and housework. Bridge laws let us know that everything is equivalent. Without these, everything wouldn t be able to all be reduced to the same level. Without bridge laws it wouldn t be possible for us to make generalizations because there is no way or point to make that everything is equivalent. Why is the birth of modern science (c.1500 1700) important to how we understand knowledge and disciplinary divisions today? Explain in detail. The birth of modern science is important to how we understand knowledge and disciplinary divisions today because it lays out the reason why we have to take the classes we take now. With science stripping out the teleological element and just pushing everything down to facts, it left the question of what should we do with everything that was removed. With that, the answer resulted in having the humanities provide this for us as it holds the teleological element and essentially keeps the part of the human qualia alive. • 38. The Three Trunks Of The Plexus Rick Winstead Steve Hammons PTA 150 2/13/15 Brachial Plexus At first glance, the brachial plexus may be a bit intimidating. The nerves arising from it and the muscles of the trunk and upper extremity of which it innervates may seem overwhelming, but as one begins the process of adding all of the components together in an orderly fashion, it begins to be seen in a much more easily understood manner. The first step in this process is to gain a grasp on the basic main structure of the plexus, and then gradually build on that foundation. The basic organization is split into five areas. These are the roots, trunks, divisions, cords, and terminal branches. The five roots originate from spinal nerves C5, C6, C7, C8, and T1. It is important to remember that these five areas contain both motor and sensory components. Next are the three trunks of the plexus. The roots of C5 and C6 combine to form the upper trunk, C7 continues on its own to form the middle trunk, and the lower trunk is formed by C8 and T1. Each trunk then divides into an anterior and posterior division. The divisions then combine to form cords. The anterior divisions of the upper and middle trunk combine to form the lateral cord, the anterior division of the lower trunk forms the medial cord, and all three posterior divisions combine to make the posterior cord. Finally, the cords give way to the terminal branches of the brachial plexus. The lateral cord splits and becomes the musculocutaneous nerve, and a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Gender Roles In King Lear When observing gender in our society, women and men are stereotyped with specific roles. Men have always been seen as the family s main source of income whereas the women take care of their home and children. However, Shakespeare challenges these gender roles in his play with the three female characters Goneril, Regan, and Cordelia. While all three are independent, powerful women and even lead their armies into battle, the men seem to be foolish and weak such as King Lear and Albany. Furthermore, Mira cel Batran makes a point in her essay, Feminist Reading of William Shakespeare s King Lear , that although women are regarded as dependent on men, Shakespeare explains that it can be the exact opposite. The men seem to depend on the women such as King Lear depending on Cordelia and Albany depending on Goneril. Shakespeare, in his play, King Lear, portrays women who are strong and intelligent and men who are weak or overpowered by female characters, challenging the societal belief that women are inherently less than or dependent on men. Firstly, the entire play is structured around the women and what they do. If Shakespeare was not trying to make a claim on gender roles then he would not have added merely three women. Right from the beginning, King Lear is foolish enough to think that giving his kingdom away would be wise. The play from then on revolves around Cordelia s defiance and Regan and Goneril s hypocritic actions towards their father. In other words, Shakespeare ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
