The Cape Less Undercover Heroes Essay
Have you ever seen the super hero that wears dark blue and a badge, but not wearing a cape? The
person that is here to help in every way possible day or night no matter when or where? The ones who
are here during the highest and lowest points for everyone because that is a part of their job. The ones
who are here to help the people on this island, but most of the time are treated like the bad guys .
These undercover heroes are the people we all know as police officers. Many people don t realize that
they don t have an easy job. They are the ones who need to enforce the laws and are looked at as the
bad guy , but when they come to the rescue they are the good guy . The book Non traditional Careers

Seatbelts are the most effective means of reducing deaths and serious injuries in traffic crashes. The
vast majority of all injuries and deaths from traffic crashes are preventable. Through my survey almost
100% of officers said that many deaths could have been prevented if they were just wearing a seatbelt.
This is one ticket that anyway you look at it will help to save your life. Speeding is going any faster
than the posted speed limit even one mile over. Police have to make a judgment call as to whether
your excessive speed, over the posted speed limit, or your slower pace, is impeding traffic or
endangering other drivers, in any way. If this is so they can pull you over and give you a ticket. It may
seem like a burden at that moment, but this could save a life and help to keep you and other drivers
safe to. A stop sign is a tool used to help prevent accidents from happening. A stop sign is used to
control traffic and is usually found at road junctions. Stop signs instruct drivers the right of way and to
ensure proper notice is taken to avoid accidents. The word stop is in white on red octagonal design.
When you see one at any corner or junction people know that they must come to a complete stop,
behind the line and can proceed only if the way ahead is clear. This is a simple task but not very many
people do it according to Officer Burns.

Introduction:
In this review, three different analysis techniques will be discussed, including Structured What If
Technique (SWIFT), Failure Modes, Effects, and Diagnostic Analysis (FMEDA) and Technique for
Human Error rate Prediction (THERP). Each of them will be discussed in three aspects (concept,
suitable situations and application).

Concept of SWIFT:
As a technique of risk identification, SWIFT is flexible and focus on high level. It can be run alone, or
as a portion of a staged method to achieve more efficient use of bottom up methods like FMEA
(Failure Modes and Effects Analysis) [1].
By concentrating on high level procedures, SWIFT can often be conducted more rapidly than more
detail oriented approaches. In fact, an industrial case showed that a SWIFT risk assessment could be
conducted in as little as one third of the time required for a HAZOP (Hazard and Operability study)
based approach [1], a result that was replicated in a study comparing SWIFT to HFMEA (Healthcare

Essay on Sex and Lies in Arabian Nights
Sex, Lies, and Open Sesame In Richard Burton #8217;s translation of Arabian Nights, several stories
revolve around three ideas; sex, lies, and violence. It seems that one idea hinges on another and the
stories use one to justify the other. This paper will explore the use of sex, lies, and violence and their
interdependence on one another throughout three stories. These stories are #8220;The Story of King
Shahryar and His Brother, #8221; #8220;Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves, #8221; and #8220;The
Hunchback #8217;s Tale. #8221; It will also discuss the strange use of these ideas in the stories as
well as Arabian culture. Sex has been a mainstay in literature for countless years. Many love stories

After struggling with the information, Shah Zamon decides to tell his brother and after discovering the
truth King Shahryar decided that no woman could be trusted. He then developed a plan; first he killed
his wife, her lover, the concubines, and the white slaves. Then he decided, #8220;He also swore a
binding oath that whenever he married, he would take his new wife #8217;s maidenhead at night and
slay her the next morning to make sure of his honor, for he was convinced that there never was or
could be one chaste woman upon the face of this earth. #8221; (Page 12) This example once again
proves that sex, lies, and violence all spins the web of problems that we see in this book. Violence is a
concept that takes on many different uses in Arabian culture. It is used both as a means of killing,
protecting, and punishing. In #8220;Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves, #8221; after Ali Baba finds
treasure in the cave of the thieves, his brother Kasim is jealous and follows him back only to get
caught within the cave. When he is discovered by the thieves he is not only murdered but also his
body is used to fore warn others. #8220; #8230;they (the thieves ) decided to quarter Kasim #8217;s
dead body and hang two parts on the right and two parts on the left of the door so that the sight would

Symbolism In The Cherry Orchard
The famous human condition doctor and writer Anton Chekhov wrote the play The Cherry Orchard in
his last year of life, 1904. The Cherry Orchard is a tragic comedy with a double plot that entertains the
audience through the extreme and questionable situations. Chekhov involves in his play physical
humor, which can be explained as exaggerated body movements and expressions in order to cause
funny and yet meaningful acts. The main plot and the most obvious one is the dilemma that people
face when they are in front of financial, social problems and emotional barriers to overcome these
problems (cutting down the cherry tree). This play contains a whole historical process within its
dialogues and monologues. In February of 1861, Alexander ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

when their wealth and estate will be all taken away, would never come. The beautiful Cherry Orchard
symbolizes the old social order, when the aristocrats were on top of the society; it represents their
beautiful memories of an earlier life and this makes it even harder emotionally to overcome the

changed, but the aristocrats are facing difficulties in accepting this change or transforming their
behaviors in acceptance of the new social order. The human nature faces struggle and tries to resist the
immediate unexpected change especially when it is not unwanted and threatens their accurate position.

the type of person that doesn t care about friendships. In a way, I was glad. It meant she couldn t grasp

It s Sake By Bernard Goldberg
Every kind of media has there own bias that they put into the news that the station is reporting. They
will use words and images that bring your mind to a certain political party. Some people can see that
the media is slanted left on the political scale but others do not see it. What people need to do is to
identify the words and terminology that the media is using to see if there is any bias involved. People
also have a problem when they read an article and read it like it is the only truth. When people do this
their reaction may be different than if they knew what kind of bias the author had. In Bernard
Goldberg s book, he talks about how the media slants the news coverage to the left. While he was

Analysis Of Gaius Suetonius TranquitusDe Vita Caesartus
Gaius Suetonius Tranquillus, a Roman historian is better known as Suetonius and also for his book
The Twelve Caesars which essentially changed the way in which history was written. For many, they
believe that Suetonius De Vita Caesarum established a new framework, an original genre of historical
biography unseen before which consequently made a significant contribution to historical scholarship.
This review will look in particular at the aspects of Suetonius style of writing seen in the first chapter,
which focuses on Julius Caesar, and also how specific writing techniques used by Suetonius inspired
other authors in the future. Although there are some faults to his work, Suetonius through the cohesive
method of singular analysis he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Suetonius evocative storytelling uses another technique which gives the reader an insight into the past,
the author paints a portrait of a landscape, where glimmers of intimate daily life enables a personal
connection to another place and time. Through this, if we can begin to understand Julius Caesar, we
understand the beginning of imperial Rome and in its entirety this book becomes an in depth source
for understanding the history of the Roman Empire. In Suetonius chapter on the life of Julius Caesar it
is clear the motivation behind the use of foreshadowing and the importance of predicting future events
using signs from celestial portents, and especially from God, as this intrigues the reader to continue. A
certain passage of Suetonius s writing epitomises the captivating nature of his work, where he
foreshadows the death of Julius Caesar using signs and scripture. It is the foretelling and prediction of
Caesar s death which engages the reader to continue reading and find out if the scripture comes true.
Suetonius s De vita Caesarum is also responsible for two famous pieces of literature. One is when
Caesar is crossing the Rubicon and cries out those famous three words in Latin iacta alea est , meaning
in English the die is cast and this proclaimed that the army were

The First System Of Law Enforcement
When the first settlers came over from England, they didn t have a clue on how to survive or make
their way in a new environment. To ensure their survival, they tried to use the information that they
had learned in England to help them start their way, such as scavenging for food, collecting wood to
build a shelter, and finding places to get fresh water. Over the decades, Americans and early settlers
have copied English ways of living before changing them to fit their needs today, such as, spelling by
removing the u from words like color, driving on the other side of the road and finding our own food
style that doesn t consist of tea and scones.
When the early, New England settlers came to America, they tried to set up their own ways of life that
differed from the mother country of England. For example, in 1631, the first system of law
enforcement was established. It was modeled after the British police structure, which incorporated the
watch, constables, and sheriffs in a community based police organization. While colonists started
settling into the New World, local ordinances had allowed for constables to be appointed. The
townspeople of each town created an unpaid watch made up of six watchmen, one constable, and
several volunteers who patrolled at night. This is what is written down in the National Law
Enforcement Museum for the origin of the police, but in actuality, the police system was shaped and
originated by slave patrols and night watches.

Essay on Analysis of Poe’s The Raven
The first two stanzas of The Raven introduce you to the narrator, and his beloved maiden Lenore. You
find him sitting on a dreary and dark evening with a book opened in front of him, though he is dozing
more than reading. Suddenly, he hears knocking on his door, but only believes it to be a visitor
nothing more. He remembers another night, like this one, where he had sought the solace of his library
to forget his sorrows of his long lost beloved, and to wait for dawn. Meanwhile the tapping on his door
continues.
Poe s most famous poem begins with an imagery that immediately brings the reader into a dark, cold,
and stormy night. Poe does ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the genius factors of Poe s writing is his way of working his way into the human psyche, with
nothing more than a few words and a perfect setting. You can not really relate to some one, who is
being chased by a monster, because even though it is scary, somewhere in the back of your brain you
know this isn t real. However, everyone can relate to the being psychologically tormented by your
past. Poe seeks to not exactly scare his readers with this poem, but give them a since of the narrators
self torment. Using a raven that only answers in the negative over and over again to whatever question
is asked, slowly driving the narrator insane. One wonders if Poe himself wrote this poem late at night,
under the flickering of candlelight, not having enough sleep or enough to eat, yet under influences
such as alcohol, etc. With the narrators mention of the angel named Lenore, Nameless here for
evermore, Poe is possibly reaching out for his lost love long dead to him.
People wanted to be taking away from the torments of the physical world, the Revolutionary War had
ended years before, yet the country was still trying to be a united country, and to clean up the ravages
of war. Families had lost vital members of their home, and more and more immigrants were coming

Civil War Inventions
Civil War Essay
There are many inventions from the Civil War that we have improved upon and that we still use today.
Some of these inventions include hot air balloons, Long Range Weapons, Warships, torpedoes, and the
Gatling Gun. But three inventions from the Civil War that we still use today are railroads, telegraphs,
and Long Range Weapons. Today, though all these have been improved upon, these inventions are still
used to help our country grow.
Railroads are a form of transportation which isn t used as much anymore, but in the Civil War, it was a
very important way of transportation. The transcontinental railroad was invented around the Civil War
and was a faster way to transport goods, troops, and people. The Civil War was also the first war in US
history to use railroads because they were important in moving troops and goods faster. The Civil War
was the first war to use railroads, encouraged by President Lincoln himself a former railroad lawyer
who understood how vital they were for moving men and supplies
(http://www.pbs.org/opb/historydetectives/feature/civil war innovations/). The North also had an
advantage as far as trains came with 20,000 miles of track compared to the south s 9,000. The north

Ethnic Heritage Is Not Most Important Thing Essay
My ethnic heritage is not highly influential in the way I define myself because I do not have a single
ethnicity. On my mom s side of the family, I am ethnically Scottish, Welsh, and Cherokee. My dad s
side of the family is ethnically German with a little Irish mixed in. Because of all of these ethnicities, I
identify myself as ethnically American. I have always celebrated American holidays like
Independence Day, Veteran s Day, Thanksgiving, Mother s Day, and Father s Day, and I do not
celebrate holidays specific to one of my previously listed ethnicities. I enjoy watching American
sports like football and watching American teams succeed international competitions like the
Olympics and the World Cup, and I enjoy American foods like hamburgers, hot dogs, and Chick fil a.
In the way I view the world, ethnicity is not the most important thing because I live in a country full of
different ethnic heritages. It is interesting and fun to meet people of other ethnicities and learn about
them. Various ethnicities are what created the United States I know today, so learning about different
ethnicities broadens my view of the United States as a whole and gives me a small glimpse into life in
different countries. Ethnicity is important in shaping who a person is and what they believe, but it does
not have a strong influence on how I see myself.
The class I live influences how I see the world. My mom is a high school English teacher, and my dad
works at a car dealership, so I come from

A Literary Analysis Of Bartleby By Herman Melville
1 Bartleby Herman Melville Bartleby was a story that had me inerested me from the first paragraph. I
love learning about and seeing characters develop, for this reason Breaking Bad is one of my favorite
TV shows. The lawyer in this story makes Bartleby out to be this magnificent and interesting creature
beyond compare, which I think shows more about the lawyer as character than Bartleby. The lawyer
saw depth, intrigue, and unsolved despairs in Bartleby before the reader had a chance. This aspect of
the Lawyer intrigued me deeply, how he could analyze and understand people from only a single
sentence. Bartleby was an interesting character, but I enjoyed reading about the other characters in the
office much more. I found Turkey, Nippers, and Ginger Nut fascinating. These three characters all

There were very few characters, a cliche conflict, and not a very fulfilling resolution, but I still did not
dislike it. The narrator is a character who is very average, except for the fact that he has been banished
by his parents to live with his grandparents. Many kids have conflict with their parents but to be
banished seemed like a harsh thing, so during the story I kept asking myself if that would become
relevant. I do not think that it did. The narrator is almost forced by his grandparents to meet a kid who
lives next door named Fred. Fred is also a pretty normal person, except for the fact that his legs are
injured from when his dad threw him down the stairs. These two characters talk awkwardly before the
story ends with them hovering in the air next to Fred s roof (at least from what I could tell). I took this
as a metaphor for trying new things. The narrator was sent to his grandparents house expecting to have
the worst time of his life, but when he went and talked to the stranger next stairs, he experiences
something he would have never experiences

Compare Eisenhower And Truman At War
Both men, Eisenhower and Truman, reaffirmed that nothing in the coming campaign could damage
their friendship, but that very quickly fell apart. After various misunderstandings, the ultimate fall out
for the pair revolved around two men, Joe McCarthy, a scoundrel both men abhorred, and George
Marshall, a statesman both men widely respected. This disagreement about these two men was the
great divider that set Eisenhower and Truman at war. Only after many years once Eisenhower was out
of the office would the two rekindle their friendship. The duo faced many political and personal
problems that led to their untimely deterioration. The first setback for the pair was during Eisenhower
s acceptance speech at the Republican convention. He pointed fingers at the democratic party and said
its office and administration was wasteful, arrogant, and corrupt. Although Truman has before said It s

Eisenhower. He charged that Eisenhower was a coward for his actions because he did not condemn the

Benefits Of Farina
Meta description: What is Farina exactly? This is the common question asked by people thinking
about their diet. In this article, we explain the nutritional benefits of Farina and why it is healthy for
us.
What is Farina? The Healthier Version of Cereals
First, what is Farina? Farina is milled grains of cereal, most typically wheat. Farina is a Latin word
which means meal or flour. It comes from the inner portion of wheat kernels and is said to be the germ
and endosperm of the grain. The grains are crushed into a fine granular consistency and then filtered.
Farina has a very bland taste, which makes it adaptable to a variety of toppings when eaten as a hot
cereal, the classic preparation. Because it has been finely ground, it can be cooked quickly, which also
makes it a popular choice for hot cereal. Due to its mild taste, the cooked cereal is typically flavored
with brown sugar, honey, fruits, maple syrup, butter, chocolate, salt, jams, and cinnamon, or
sometimes several of these toppings combined. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Farina is a highly rich source of carbohydrates. If the wheat has been enriched, it becomes the best
food source for nutritional iron. This is especially important for vegetarian diets, with some brands
providing as much as 50% of the recommended daily amount with a single 120 calorie serving. Unlike

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Sexual Reproduction
#1 Sex is a mode of reproduction and a way for a large number of organisms to reproduce. But is
sexual reproduction really advantageous? There are advantages and disadvantages to sexual
reproduction. Some disadvantages of sexual reproduction are as follows. Sexual reproduction cannot
be done without a mate. Females want to mate with the best males who are strong and on top of the
hierarchy. This can take lots of time and effort to find. It can even take years for an offspring to come
out of mating for the female. The successful genes of an individual are being split up into a combined
form with another individual s and it is not always guaranteed that the offspring of these two
successful organisms will come out successful. Sexual reproduction is less reliable since fifty percent
of these new combinations end up failing. When organisms mate, they are distracted by the pleasure
they are giving to each other. All the ruckus and noises will attract predators and is also a
disadvantage. In contrast, when two individuals mate, the cells go through cell division or meiosis.
This allows four daughter cells to produce from the original first cell. Since the offspring has genes
and traits from both parents, the offspring will be unique. This is advantageous for evolutionary
changes. Since each offspring is unique in their genetic material, some won t be affected by a disease,
such as HIV, AIDS, and viruses, as others might. This allows these offspring to survive. The

the internet. Though the internet has provided many positive benefits, it has also brought along many
negative aspects. In Evgeny Morozov s article, Technology s Role in Revolution. Internet Freedom
and Political Oppression the authors argument revolves around cyber utopianism and realism in regard
to the internets actual function. Morozov s article attempts to convince the reader the internet is a
rather negative tool due to how the function of the internet has been more beneficial to governments
by allowing the spread of propaganda and legitimacy, and its aid in authoritarianism. Morozov mainly
focuses on how many people often seem to forget how the internet carries negative aspects, resulting
in cyber utopianism, a naïve belief in the emancipatory nature of online communication that rests on a
stubborn refusal to acknowledge its downsides. Morozov argues that cyber utopianism is not a
realistic way of viewing the internet due to how the internet operates throughout different countries
and because of the effect the internet has had on authoritarianism. Instead of the internet being a tool
for the oppressed, Morozov suggests that it has become a bigger aid to governments. Though I do
think that the internet is an important aid in helping with world issues, I do agree that there are more
negative consequences. This is evident considering some countries barely have access

Shellfish Poisoning Research Paper
Introduction
Amnesic shellfish poisoning is a rare type of food poisoning caused by eating seafood that contains a
poison (toxin) called domoic acid. Domoic acid is produced by a saltwater form of algae, and it is
often eaten by shellfish, such as clams, oysters, and mussels. You can get sick when you eat shellfish
or crab that contains domoic acid (is contaminated). Cooking or freezing the shellfish does not kill the
toxin.
Domoic acid causes stomach and intestinal problems. It can also cause problems with the brain and
spinal cord (nervous system). In severe cases, these problems can be life threatening.
What are the causes?
This condition is caused by eating seafood that has had contact with domoic acid.

(2) CURRENT MARKETING SITUATION
2.1 MARKET SITUATION
Market Segments:
Restaurant is not a place, which can be assigned to any one category of market, but to be more
efficient in directing the resources to the right target market, for this we have done market
segmentation. According to the given statistical data, we can easily understand why children were
chosen to be the target market:
Between 5 10 years 75% Between 11 18 years 88% Between 19 25 years 28% Between 26 40 years
45% Between 41 onwards 14%
The result of the analysis states that the age group of 5 18 is the best target segment to be focused. The
rest of them are some how related to the above two fields and can be influenced by their demands to
come to the restaurant.
Geographic Segments:
Here we subdivide markets into segments based on geographic distribution the regions, counties, cities
and towns where people live and work. This can be taken out by taking into consideration:
a) Regional population distribution
b) Urban, suburbs and rural distribution

The Optimistic Philosophy in Candide by Voltaire Essay
Why do bad things happen to good people? A question often asked by...well, by just about everyone. It
is a frequently asked question that philosophers and religious figures have tried to answer for centuries
yet no one can pinpoint the answer. Candide is no doubt Voltaire s response to the answer given by
some of the philosophers of his time. The philosophy discussed throughout the novel gives meaning to
the story itself and contributes to and carries on throughout the entire story.
In the Baron s castle somewhere in Germany the main characters reside for a short time. Pangloss, the
philosopher and teacher of the Baron s children, has a radical philosophy on life and passes it to his
students. This philosophy doesn t help them ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Providing a simple explanation for Pangloss optimistic philosophy that we live in the best of all
possible worlds this quote appears in the first chapter of the story and sets up one of the main themes
throughout the novel. It s basically the logic behind Pangloss philosophy, though it makes no sense. It
seems quite obvious that spectacles were designed to fit the nose and not the other way around. These
are the first of many very illogical arguments to support his philosophy. As the novel progresses this
philosophy goes under brutal attacks by the misfortunes the characters come across again and again
throughout their lives. It also sets up the never ending debate between those characters with the
optimistic view and those with the pessimistic view. Voltaire uses Pangloss philosophy to demonstrate
a point. Because he so strongly opposes this philosophy it s a recurring theme in the novel.
The optimistic view is also the main example of satire from Voltaire in the novel and this is probably
the purpose for writing the novel. It could be interpreted as his response to philosophers of the time,
G.W. von Leibniz in particular. Leibniz claimed that because God is perfect, all good and all powerful,
He wouldn t create a less than perfect world; therefore, we live in the best of all possible worlds.
Leibniz also said that evil is

The Great Mayan City Of Tikal
The world has been made unforgettable with the creation of photography.
As mankind rapidly evolved recording events became harder. Early history is only able to be pictured
with using our imagination. Often times historians often clash about what the world looked like.
Ancient civilizations from the Mayans and Aztecs have never been seen while they were in their
pristine condition. The world is left with written descriptions and ruins not only of the cities
themselves, but also the tools used. After the camera was invented in the early 1800s, events were
more frequently recorded and it was clear what tools and cities looked like before modern day.
Photography has undoubtedly altered how we document events, created new job openings, and will
give generations to come amazing art and show defining moments from each generation. Photography
has helped evolve the world by creating new jobs and revolutionizing how events are documented.
Before photography, capturing moments and keeping them alive was through word of mouth, or
written on paper. The great Mayan City of Tikal was finally constructed by 600 A.D. Tikal was said to
have had immense sports arenas, multiple hospitals, schools, and libraries. When the Spaniards came
around 1000 A.D., the Maya had vanished, leaving the ruins of their city behind. The Spaniards
documented what was seen, but some notes were unclear or lost (Maya). After the camera had been
invented in 1826 by Joseph Niepce, people were skeptical if it would

What The Living Do By Marie Howe
Published in 1997, Marie Howe s anthology of poems, What the Living Do was written as an elegy to
her brother, John, who passed away due to AIDS. Howe s anthology is written without metaphor to
document the loss she felt after her brother s death. Although What the Living Do is written as an
anthology, this collection allows for individual poems to stand alone but also to work together to tell
an overarching story. Using the poetic devices of alliteration, enjambment, repetition and couplets,
Howe furthers her themes of gender and loss throughout her poems in her anthology. Alliteration is
prevalent in most of the poems in What the Living Do. Howe uses alliteration to bring attention to the
line of poetry and her word choices are meant to evoke a response from the reader. For example, in the
poem, The Promise, alliteration is used to further the themes of gender and loss, as the narrator states
Dad was drunk again and dangerous (Howe 54). The alliteration of dad, drunk, and dangerous bring
the reader s attention to this line and places emphasis on the idea of the narrator and her brother
sharing this moment (line 13). Utilizing this emphasis, the narrator is able to highlight the loss of her
brother as no one else has those shared memories with the narrator. Through alliteration, the theme of
loss is clearly expressed by talking about the brother who has passed and who she has shared
memories with. A majority of the poems in Howe s anthology are written in

Realism And Romanticism In The Boarded Window By Ambrose...
Many of our time rely on credit and debit cards when purchasing items. While the two seem identical
to one another, failure to know the difference can result in an economic catastrophe on the card owner
s part. Debit cards are used as a way to spend money that the consumer already has by withdrawing
the purchase amount directly from their account. On the other hand, credit cards allow the card owner
to borrow money from the bank, in which the card is issued, up to a certain amount in order to make a
purchase which they will pay back to the bank at a later date. Literature can be the same way. A story

of its trees (17). The tree stumps were decaying and new growth had, suffered to repair the ravage

Realistic one. Murlock s average life clearly portrays the story as one of the Realistic movement,
classically portraying a slice of life mentality. Although this story has evidence of being a Realistic
writer s work, some may portray the story as one from the Romanticism movement, a movement
which is nearly the opposite of Realism. The writers of the Romanticism added supernatural ideas and
events into their story in order to focus on imagination. In The Boarded Window Murlock s house is
seen as dismal and dreary by his fellow town members and it is rare that he receives a visit from a
neighbor. When describing the house, Bierce says all the children were afraid of the house and would
run away to avoid the ghost (17). This supernatural element allows the reader to think this story is
Romantic and is solely of the imagination. In addition, after the passing of Murlock s wife, he
prepares for her burial, and decides to keep his lifeless wife in his house until the day of her final
departure. One night,

Comparing shattered Glass And Shattered Glass
In an 2004 article written by Peter Preston, criticizing the film Shattered Glass, the former editor
makes a point stating that the general public is far too busy being distracted by stories concerning
minor celebrities and football stars to be concerned about journalist making up current affair stories. I
do not feel that this is a strong argument, for multiple reasons. This point seems to make the actions of
Glass more acceptable than the movie portrayed it. It says that people will not care about false stories
written by one of your journalists, because they are too busy. In my eyes, this is brought out the idea
of distractions or lies, which could hurt a business more? A distraction and a lie are so different, and a

Indian village for these three reasons. They were not familiar people, it was not his usual trail, and he

that they were not familiar people. He did not understand their ways, their speech, or their dances. He

(Frederick Douglass Cuts Through The Lincoln Myth To Consider The Man). In this statement he
talks about how even though a person does not care about you; we should never treat a person how we
would not like to be treated and therefore we should thank Abraham Lincoln and many others for
everything they have done for the people. Frederick Douglass gave this speech because it shows how
his life was when he was growing up and how he was just taken away from his family.
When giving this speech Frederick Douglass gives a big purpose on why he is giving this speech in
the first place. The purpose of Frederick Douglass giving this speech is that he wants everybody to be
free from all the nonsense and to end people from being taken away from their families. I am myself;
you are yourself; we are two distinct persons equal persons. What you are, I am. You are a man, and so

Difference Between Cruel And Unusual Punishment
Capital Punishment: Is it cruel and unusual Punishment and is it Applied Equally?
Throughout time, it appears that the best way society has punish death is through the killing of the
killer. This is also mentioned in the Bible several times as an eye for an eye . In our current time,
things have not changed much; revenge for murder is still strong. However, in the U.S., repaying
death through death is done through the legal system. This is what is known as capital punishment.
Ever since capital punishment was initiated, there have been many problems in terms of its
continuality. Is the death penalty constitutional? This has been a question that Supreme Courts Justices
have wrestled with for a really long time. The main constitutional question in terms of capital
punishment is found in the Eight Amendment, which pretty much talks about the concept of cruel and
unusual punishment.
Capital Punishment can be agreed upon, as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout history in the U.S., many civil rights leaders and others have attempted to argue about the
cruelty of capital punishment, yet it s interesting to note that it s still. This issue is so controversial that
the states themselves have to allowed to decide if capital punishment is constitutional or not. The state
of Illinois, for example, has banned capital punishment, mainly because of concerns that innocent
people are being lethally injected for crimes they never committed. There is a great concern that
innocent people are being put to death. But Rehnquist, during the 1980s, never believed that presumed
innocence should stand on the way of capital punishment, especially if little technical knowledge of
the defendant was available. This stands true today, especially in light of use of DNA testing to prove
criminality. However, if one were to apply Marshall s excessive force argument, one could argue that
capital punishment is

Being A Non Traditional Student
Being a non traditional student I have the opportunity to attend school while also pursuing a career in
Information Technology (IT). Within the field of IT there are many avenues to explore ethics
depending on the type of business that is being supported, or what the technical speciality may be. For
instance, if the business operates in medical environment that treats patients, there are privacy
concerns, and ethical standards that must be followed. The same can be said for the financial
community, and education. While the breadth of Information Technology and the available
specializations are vast, perhaps even more impressive is the amount of trust and ethical burden placed
on the Information Technology professional.
There are many careers and professional roles that have access to a staggering level data that is private
in nature, or sensitive. This data is necessary to perform to function of the profession, but the
expectation and trust is that it will not be disclosed without individual consent. While each profession
has data access concerns, with major ethical implications, the majority of this data can be guarded and
monitored by technological means and enforced with legal policy. As an information technologist it is
often within your purview to employ these protections, and also to monitor that these safeguards are
effective, and not being violated. There are two avenues that I believe can be approached when it
comes to ethics in IT: unauthorized disclosure, and

accounting firms found themselves as part of a thorough investigation to determine what exactly
caused the sudden outburst of accounting fraud. As investors and creditors pursued their lost money

Current economic conditions and other internal factors may raise the inherent risks for a particular
account. Some transactions that are routine, noncomplex, and systematically processed may have
lower inherent risks, while other routine transactions, such as cash transactions, are more susceptible
to fraud and, therefore, have greater inherent risk (Clark 2009). Detection risk is the risk that
substantive procedures may be ineffective in detecting errors. As your risk of material misstatement
increases, an auditor must prepare an audit plan with more effective substantive procedure. By
multiplying these risks together you arrive at the audit risk; defined by SAS 107, Audit Risk and
Materiality in Conducting an Audit, as the positive opinion of an auditor of financial statements that
are materially misstated and unknowingly failed to be appropriately modified. As stated earlier, audit
risks can never be fully eliminated. Normally, the formula is used to solve for detection risk after
establishing an acceptable audit risk (usually 5 10%) based on factors surrounding the company,
industry, and background of the client. The determination of detection risks ultimately plays a major
role in planning the audit and establishing a materiality threshold. The audit opinion is directly
influenced by the amount and type of audit evidence

sitting on the ground, next to my parents, fascinated by the opening ceremony, by the fireworks and
the abundance of things that were happening at the same time. Every day after school I ran home and

many events that I had never seen in my life: throwing sticks, jumping over little fences, running for

What fascinated me the most was the men and women who were jumping so high, that they were
almost able to reach the sky with their hands while coming so close to knocking over the stick

Murder Capital Of The World
In a period of four years one metropolitan city experienced a 1,000 percent increase in homicides.
Steven Dudley and Elyssa Pachico report that there was an astounding 3,000 murders reported in 2010
compared to only 300 murders in 2006. The statistics dubbed Ciudad Juarez as the murder capital of
the world during these years. The ongoing war between the once dominant Juarez Cartel and the
current reigning rival Sinaloa Cartel spurred the homicide rate in this crucial drug trafficking route.
Recent speculations are that the Sinaloa Cartel led by Joaquin El Chapo Guzman Loera has surpassed
the waning Juarez Cartel and taken control of Cd. Juarez s territory (Shoichet). Just like both groups
are to blame for the colossal amount of murders so can the shift in power and dominance by one
organized crime group in the area could be accredited the dramatic decrease in violence. Crime in this
border city which neighbors El Paso, TX has had a sharp decrease in killings. Julio Castañeda, a

What Was The Causes Of The Anglo-Boer War
The Anglo Boer War remains the most terrible and destructive armed conflict in the history of South
Africa. It shaped the history of South Africa in the 20th Century and therefore left a legacy marking
the end of the long process of British conquest of South African societies. Conflicting political
ideologies of imperialism and republicanism, including the tension between the political leaders, like

Social Identity Theory And How Does It Influence Self Esteem
What is social identity theory and how does it influence self esteem in teens? Lexie Johnson Who are
you? Who am I? These philosophical questions often get brought up and debated over by most
philosophers from the past and today. Teens go through this process of who am I and what is my
purpose in life? To find these purposes we affiliate ourselves with different groups such as our friend
groups, extracurricular activities and peer academics. I would identity myself as being a female. I m a
part of international club and I m a cashier at the café. We identify ourselves with the groups we
choose to be a part of. Being a part of these groups help us feel like we belong and that we have some
sort of place in this big world. Since most people go through this identity issue, researches have
researched how we identify ourselves socially. They came up with a theory called social identity
theory. In order to understand where social identity theory derived from we first have to take a look at
where social identity came from. Furthermore, when we look deeper into social Identity we can see
that social identify came from the idea of group identification we means the group that we associate
ourselves with. Group identification is used often used interchangeably with social identity so in most
cases they mean the same thing (Ashforth Mael, 1989). There are a lot key words to keep in mind

as the mire where mysteries, the villagers say, sleep undisturbed. Hitherto, I had looked upon my
situation in a skeptical manner. Let this story be a warning then for those of you who should one day
wish to visit Lofter and lay eye upon the mire for yourselves. And so my dear readers, with no further
delay, I ll begin this tale with my arrival to the village of Lofter. I had traveled from London, leaving
behind the great success of which I had established for myself, to accept a job as a private physician
for the Cardew family. Mr. Cornelius Cardew, of whom was acquainted with

Adult Observation Paper Sample
In the past two weeks I have been helping and guiding my boyfriend Richard of three years with his
resume and cover letter. I have a lot of practice and experience with them where as he started working
at a young age and hasn t moved around often in jobs. We looked at his skills and traits and started
linking them to what an employer wants. Employers want a certain education and skill but they also
want a certain personality. Someone who can work well with others, is helpful and has good
communication skills, someone who is dependable and hard working. I have spent the last two weeks
comparing our professional traits so I will base this around his professional life. Richard currently

Number 2, critical or quarrelsome. I marked Richard very low for this, he agrees with others or will
completely stay out of the conversation to avoid any quarrel. he is good natured, forgiving, gullible,
and helpful. Before he started dating me, he would never assert himself during conversations, or have
a strong opinion in fear of turning someone off. He would also pay for everything, even his friends
lunch, which they expected paid every time. I marked him very low, but I believe this has been an area
where he is improving as far as self respect and assertiveness. Again Richard s insecurities or doubting
himself really came out during the Self Data Report, when he took the Ten Item Personality Inventory,
TIPI (Gosling, Rentfrow, Swann, 2003). I didn t tell him any information about the test except how to
take it. When he was done I started looking over the results, and of course i started to disagree with
him, which is very much apart of my personality. Below is two pictures displaying our

A Brief Note On Motorcycle Insurance Rate Quote
Motorcycle Insurance Rate Quote
For the person who is looking to upgrade or change their motorcycle insurance, it is immensely
important to take a detailed approach when evaluating the insurance options that are available. There
are certain questions that should be answered during the process of evaluating different insurance
companies and the policies that they offer. The following six questions represent areas where people
are unsure about their coverage. The answer to these questions will provide the clarity necessary to
make an educated decision when choosing the motorcycle insurance that will be right for you.
How is Insuring a Motorcycle Different than Insuring a Car?
Risk
The most prevalent difference between insuring a motorcycle verses a car is the risk variable. There
are simply different types of risks associated with riding a motorcycle. The unique risks associated
with riding a motorcycle must be accounted for in the type of coverage that will be provided. These
risks also impact the development of programs that reward drivers for safe driving.
Type of Vehicle
Other variables include the difference in the vehicles and the presence of safety mechanisms, or the
lack thereof.
Is It a Good Idea to Buy Collision Coverage if I Own an Older Bike?
There is no one size fits all answer to this question. It all depends on the value of the bike. Being that
collision coverage only covers the current value of the bike, it does not make sense to purchase
coverage that

This is one ticket that anyway you look at it will help to save your life. Speeding is going any faster than the posted speed limit even one mile over. Police have to make a judgment call as to whether your excessive speed, over the posted speed limit, or your slower pace, is impeding traffic or endangering other drivers, in any way. If this is so they can pull you over and give you a ticket. It may seem like a burden at that moment, but this could save a life and help to keep you and other drivers safe to. A stop sign is a tool used to help prevent accidents from happening. A stop sign is used to control traffic and is usually found at road junctions. Stop signs instruct drivers the right of way and to ensure proper notice is taken to avoid accidents. The word stop is in white on red octagonal design. To ensure their survival, they tried to use the information that they had learned in England to help them start their way, such as scavenging for food, collecting wood to build a shelter, and finding places to get fresh water. Over the decades, Americans and early settlers have copied English ways of living before changing them to fit their needs today, such as, spelling by removing the u from words like color, driving on the other side of the road and finding our own food style that doesn t consist of tea and scones. When the early, New England settlers came to America, they tried to set up their own ways of life that differed from the mother country of England. For example, in 1631, the first system of law enforcement was established. It was modeled after the British police structure, which incorporated the watch, constables, and sheriffs in a community based police organization. While colonists started settling into the New World, local ordinances had allowed for constables to be appointed. The townspeople of each town created an unpaid watch made up of six watchmen, one constable, and several volunteers who patrolled at night. This is what is written down in the National Law Enforcement Museum for the origin of the police, but in actuality, the police system was shaped and originated by slave patrols and night watches. • 20. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Sexual Reproduction #1 Sex is a mode of reproduction and a way for a large number of organisms to reproduce. But is sexual reproduction really advantageous? There are advantages and disadvantages to sexual reproduction. Some disadvantages of sexual reproduction are as follows. Sexual reproduction cannot be done without a mate. Females want to mate with the best males who are strong and on top of the hierarchy. This can take lots of time and effort to find. It can even take years for an offspring to come out of mating for the female. The successful genes of an individual are being split up into a combined form with another individual s and it is not always guaranteed that the offspring of these two successful organisms will come out successful. Sexual reproduction is less reliable since fifty percent of these new combinations end up failing. When organisms mate, they are distracted by the pleasure they are giving to each other. All the ruckus and noises will attract predators and is also a disadvantage. In contrast, when two individuals mate, the cells go through cell division or meiosis. This allows four daughter cells to produce from the original first cell. Since the offspring has genes and traits from both parents, the offspring will be unique. This is advantageous for evolutionary changes. Since each offspring is unique in their genetic material, some won t be affected by a disease, such as HIV, AIDS, and viruses, as others might. This allows these offspring to survive. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Morozov mainly focuses on how many people often seem to forget how the internet carries negative aspects, resulting in cyber utopianism, a naïve belief in the emancipatory nature of online communication that rests on a stubborn refusal to acknowledge its downsides. Morozov argues that cyber utopianism is not a realistic way of viewing the internet due to how the internet operates throughout different countries and because of the effect the internet has had on authoritarianism. It is a frequently asked question that philosophers and religious figures have tried to answer for centuries yet no one can pinpoint the answer. These are the first of many very illogical arguments to support his philosophy. As the novel progresses this philosophy goes under brutal attacks by the misfortunes the characters come across again and again throughout their lives. It also sets up the never ending debate between those characters with the optimistic view and those with the pessimistic view. Voltaire uses Pangloss philosophy to demonstrate a point. Because he so strongly opposes this philosophy it s a recurring theme in the novel. Early history is only able to be pictured with using our imagination. Often times historians often clash about what the world looked like. Ancient civilizations from the Mayans and Aztecs have never been seen while they were in their pristine condition. The world is left with written descriptions and ruins not only of the cities themselves, but also the tools used. After the camera was invented in the early 1800s, events were more frequently recorded and it was clear what tools and cities looked like before modern day. Photography has undoubtedly altered how we document events, created new job openings, and will give generations to come amazing art and show defining moments from each generation. Photography has helped evolve the world by creating new jobs and revolutionizing how events are documented. Before photography, capturing moments and keeping them alive was through word of mouth, or written on paper. The great Mayan City of Tikal was finally constructed by 600 A.D. Tikal was said to have had immense sports arenas, multiple hospitals, schools, and libraries. When the Spaniards came around 1000 A.D., the Maya had vanished, leaving the ruins of their city behind. The Spaniards documented what was seen, but some notes were unclear or lost (Maya). After the camera had been invented in 1826 by Joseph Niepce, people were skeptical if it would ... • 28. What The Living Do By Marie Howe Published in 1997, Marie Howe s anthology of poems, What the Living Do was written as an elegy to her brother, John, who passed away due to AIDS. Howe s anthology is written without metaphor to document the loss she felt after her brother s death. Although What the Living Do is written as an anthology, this collection allows for individual poems to stand alone but also to work together to tell an overarching story. Using the poetic devices of alliteration, enjambment, repetition and couplets, Howe furthers her themes of gender and loss throughout her poems in her anthology. Alliteration is prevalent in most of the poems in What the Living Do. Howe uses alliteration to bring attention to the line of poetry and her word choices are meant to evoke a response from the reader. For example, in the poem, The Promise, alliteration is used to further the themes of gender and loss, as the narrator states Dad was drunk again and dangerous (Howe 54). The alliteration of dad, drunk, and dangerous bring the reader s attention to this line and places emphasis on the idea of the narrator and her brother sharing this moment (line 13). Utilizing this emphasis, the narrator is able to highlight the loss of her brother as no one else has those shared memories with the narrator. Through alliteration, the theme of loss is clearly expressed by talking about the brother who has passed and who she has shared memories with. A majority of the poems in Howe s anthology are written in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 29. Realism And Romanticism In The Boarded Window By Ambrose... Many of our time rely on credit and debit cards when purchasing items. While the two seem identical to one another, failure to know the difference can result in an economic catastrophe on the card owner s part. Debit cards are used as a way to spend money that the consumer already has by withdrawing the purchase amount directly from their account. On the other hand, credit cards allow the card owner to borrow money from the bank, in which the card is issued, up to a certain amount in order to make a purchase which they will pay back to the bank at a later date. The tree stumps were decaying and new growth had, suffered to repair the ravage wrought by the axe (17). The Realism movement accepted the fact that nature will be destroyed by humanity in time, this is portrayed with Bierce s description of the damaged forest, making the story a Realistic one. Murlock s average life clearly portrays the story as one of the Realistic movement, classically portraying a slice of life mentality. Although this story has evidence of being a Realistic writer s work, some may portray the story as one from the Romanticism movement, a movement which is nearly the opposite of Realism. The writers of the Romanticism added supernatural ideas and events into their story in order to focus on imagination. In The Boarded Window Murlock s house is seen as dismal and dreary by his fellow town members and it is rare that he receives a visit from a neighbor. When describing the house, Bierce says all the children were afraid of the house and would run away to avoid the ghost (17). This supernatural element allows the reader to think this story is Romantic and is solely of the imagination. In addition, after the passing of Murlock s wife, he prepares for her burial, and decides to keep his lifeless wife in his house until the day of her final departure. One night, ... I do not feel that this is a strong argument, for multiple reasons. This point seems to make the actions of Glass more acceptable than the movie portrayed it. For instance, if the business operates in medical environment that treats patients, there are privacy concerns, and ethical standards that must be followed. The same can be said for the financial community, and education. There are many careers and professional roles that have access to a staggering level data that is private in nature, or sensitive. This data is necessary to perform to function of the profession, but the expectation and trust is that it will not be disclosed without individual consent. Current economic conditions and other internal factors may raise the inherent risks for a particular account. Some transactions that are routine, noncomplex, and systematically processed may have lower inherent risks, while other routine transactions, such as cash transactions, are more susceptible to fraud and, therefore, have greater inherent risk (Clark 2009). Detection risk is the risk that substantive procedures may be ineffective in detecting errors. As your risk of material misstatement increases, an auditor must prepare an audit plan with more effective substantive procedure. By multiplying these risks together you arrive at the audit risk; defined by SAS 107, Audit Risk and Materiality in Conducting an Audit, as the positive opinion of an auditor of financial statements that are materially misstated and unknowingly failed to be appropriately modified. As stated earlier, audit risks can never be fully eliminated. Normally, the formula is used to solve for detection risk after establishing an acceptable audit risk (usually 5 10%) based on factors surrounding the company, industry, and background of the client. The determination of detection risks ultimately plays a major role in planning the audit and establishing a materiality threshold. Steven Dudley and Elyssa Pachico report that there was an astounding 3,000 murders reported in 2010 compared to only 300 murders in 2006. The statistics dubbed Ciudad Juarez as the murder capital of the world during these years. The ongoing war between the once dominant Juarez Cartel and the current reigning rival Sinaloa Cartel spurred the homicide rate in this crucial drug trafficking route. Recent speculations are that the Sinaloa Cartel led by Joaquin El Chapo Guzman Loera has surpassed the waning Juarez Cartel and taken control of Cd. Juarez s territory (Shoichet).
