According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), over 15,000 people in
the U.S. have tested positive for the WNV infection since 1999, including over 500 deaths. Many
more people have likely been infected with WNV, but have experienced mild or no symptoms.

to humans and animals when biting to take a blood meal. In rare instances, West Nile virus may be
transmitted from human to human through organ donation or blood transfusion or from pregnant
mother to fetus. These new modes or transmission are still under investigation.
People typically develop symptoms 3 to 15 days after they are bitten by an infected mosquito. WNV
affects the central nervous system in the body, however, symptoms vary. Less than one percent
(about one in 150 people) of individuals infected with WNV will develop severe illness. The severe
symptoms can include high fever, headache, neck stiffness, stupor, disorientation, coma, tremors,

Beyond sharpening my social awareness, Intergroup Dialogue forced me to consider that my
perception of the world is not the only one. For, as previously mentioned, I did not find that
conflicting viewpoints were the most defining aspect of the IGD experience. Upon reflection,

forces to an area located in Freehold, NJ. General Washington s use of IPB played out on
multiple fronts during the pre battle phase. In one aspect, General Washington directed forces
under the command of Major General Charles Lee to harass the British rear guard. This started
June 18, 1778, as the British forces exited Philadelphia with 12,000 personnel and 12 mile
baggage train (Stryker, 1927). The baggage train consisted of personnel goods, minimal
resupplies, and basic food items. General Washington also had troops add to the challenges of the
movement by mudding wells, destroying bridges and constructing blockades on roads.
Unbeknownst to General Clinton, General Washington had sent an advance unit to direct the New

But people don t understand that that is the only way we learn. After a test, some teachers give
the tests back to the students so they can see what they got wrong. When they see what they got
wrong, they can figure out what they got wrong and they can focus on improving their knowledge
on that topic. If students never see the test, they will never know what they got right or wrong so
they might go on thinking something is right when it really isn t. My AP US history teacher, Mr.
Tubbs makes all the students do a succinct test analysis after every test. The test analysis is
supposed to consist of things you did to study for the previous test, reflection on your t4est scores,
and study habits you ll improve or add so you can do better on the upcoming test. Admitting your
mistakes is the first step to improvement. The next step is focusing on how to not make that mistake
