The Constitution and the Separation of Powers
One of the earliest ideas of separating powers came in the 1600 s and is evidenced by the idea
that the parliament then is what we would consider today as being the Legislative branch of
government since it was in charge of taxes. To be a king in those days would be similar to the
Executive branch, as the king conducted wars and enforced the law. However, credit is often given
to Baron de Montesquieu, a French philosopher. According to the authors of our text book, John
Locke initially desired there to be to branches of government, a legislative branch to create the laws
and an executivebranch to enforce the laws. Montesquieu then supplemented Locke s idea by
adding a judiciarybranch to resolve conflicts that the two branches by incur.
When written, the Constitution laid out the basis for the separation of powers. In order to prevent
any one branch of having complete control and power, each of the branches of government has
certain powers and responsibilities in order to keep each other from exerting too much power. This
is known as checks and balances.
The first branch of government we will be looking at is the legislative branch. The legislative
branch of government is responsible for making and passing laws and is more commonly known
as Congress. Keeping in the nature of checks and balances, Congress has been granted certain
powers to make sure that the judiciary branch and the executive branches do not abuse their power.
One of the more robust powers that Congress

My Senior Art Therapy Capstone Class
My senior art therapy capstone class gave me the tools not only to understand my personal art
making process, but the benefits of artistic creation for other individuals as well. Through this
final project, I was able to therapeutically process a traumatic event in my life and turn something
negative into a positive light. Process based art therapy highlights the educational and
transformative properties of art making and natural creation. My personal style is continuously
evolving, but it is often based in collage work or drawing figures with pencil on paper. My
artistic style highlights a sense of control and desire to work with traditional mediums. I ve
always worked with pencil and paper or collage because of the ease of access to materials. There
were always pencils and printer paper or empty journals for me to draw in no matter where I
was. Additionally, I loved to draw people and create my own characters. I draw people because it
brings an emotional aspect to my art that makes the drawing seem less static. When drawing
different faces, I can create depth and feeling into their eyes that makes the 2 dimensional
character seem real. One artist who has always inspired my style is Alphonse Mucha. Mucha s
decorative art featured a variety of women with flowing hair and long billowing dresses. The
women in his pieces commanded a sense of power with their brightly colored backgrounds and all
knowing faces (1). I d never seen art that depicted women in such a way, not

In 1943, he got married with Shareen Amin Begum, who was left by Bhutto to remarry again.
Bhutto married again an Iranian Kurdish woman named Begum Nusrat Ispahani in Karachi on 8th
Sept., 1951. His political career mainly started in the year 1957, when the Bhutto became the
youngest member of Pakistan s delegation to UN. In the year 1958, he became the youngest
PakistanCabinet Minister under President Ayub Khan. He was famous for his demagogic styles of
speech, which brought him to national prominence and popularity.
His rise in politics and higher echelons of power was due to his mysteriously sharp mind coupled
with cunning desire to be on the top of the national politics. His astute political manoeuvrings can
be gauged from the fact that on the eve of India China war in 1962, the rulers of China invited
Pakistan to jointly dismember India by attacking on North East and Laddakh and Pakistan from
Jammu side in Jammu and Kashmir to grab the maximum territory. Pakistan could fulfil their wish
by taking Kashmir and China would grab entire North East to come closure to Indian Ocean. Bhutto
disclosed the plan to General Ayub Khan the President of Pakistan but got rebuked for such a
loathsome and outrageous suggestion, rather was suggested that Pakistan should have Joint

political bankrupt.

Edward Bernett Was An English Anthropologist And The...
Edward Bernett Tylor was an English anthropologist and the founder of cultural anthropology. Tylor
was focused on defining the context of the scientific study of anthropology that was based on
evolutionary theories inspired by Darwin and Lyell. His stance as an evolutionist fueled his belief
that researching the prehistory and the history of man could be used to compare and reform
modern societies. Therefore, through the use of the comparative method and historical
ethnography, which included travel logs, Tylor attempted to reveal the stages of development of
cultures/civilizations.
Tylor s defines culture and civilization as a phenomena related according to definite Laws Methods
of classification and discussion of evidence Connexion of successive stages of culture by,
Permanence, Modification, and Survival... it is that complex whole which includes knowledge,
belief, art, morals, law, custom and any other capabilities and habits acquired by man as a member
of society (28). His definition of culture led him to believe that uniformity was manifested in
culture, which resulted in uniform actions enabling uniform causes. Furthermore, Tylor states that
stages of culture may be compared without taking into account how far tribes who use the same
implement, follow the same custom, or believe the same myth, may differ in their body
configuration and the color of their skin and hair (31). Meaning that although groups of humans are

Evaluation Of A Risk Corridor
For clarification a risk corridor is a formed idea that if insurance companies rake in higher cost
than expected the government will reimburse the insurer to a certain percentage. As an example,
if an insurer s actual claims in 2014 are at least 3% greater than the claims projected when the
insurer set 2014 rates, the government must reimburse the insurer for half of the excess
(Radnofsky, 2014). On top of that, if total claims jump 8% the government would be liable for
80% of the excess costs. This is a really risky move because the unhealthy population with insurance
could be extremely costly. The risk corridors gave third party payers the re insurance by
providing insurance to all parties. These insurers in 2015 needed massive bailouts from the
government for substantial losses reaching 2.5 billion. This can become an increasing expense
over the years. Most of all the taxpayers will be on the hook for these enormous losses, while
funding private shareholder owned insurance companies. The main issue at hand was the
Department of Health and Human Services didn t pay the full percentage that was applicable
under the risk corridor, which bankrupt some insurance providers. These small changes slowly
deteriorate the free exchange market the affordable care act was built upon. The CEO Kelly

I believe that Thomas Jefferson moved us closer to the nation we set out to be with the Embargo

France and Britain were at war but Jefferson wanted to stay neutral with them and continue trade,
but when Britain passed the Order Of Council which states that all ships trading with France had
to first pull up in the British port, pay a duty, and get a license Napoleon Bonaparte, the emperor
of France was angered by this and decided to retaliate and pass the Milan Decree which stated that
any ship that stopped in compliance with the Order Of Council would be treated as a British ship

the tribute was more than 20 percent our annual revenue. The war moved us closer to providing for

Analysis Of Jack Londons For Build A Fire And His Wise...
In Jack Londons To Build A Fire, a stubborn man with no imagination and his wise dog set out on
the Yukon trail seeking out his camp in hopes to return and meet up with the boys. Being a
chechaquo, a new comer to the land (Dictionary.com, 2015), this was his first Winter. It was a
clear day and yet there seemed an intangible pall over the face of things, a subtle gloom that made
the day dark, and that was due to the absence of sun. The face did not worry the man. (London,
629). The newcomer was entering Winter temperatures in which he knew nothing of, reaching
seventy five degrees below zero and would soon be in a battle of man verses nature. But all this the
mysterious, far reaching hair line trail, the absence of sun from the sky, the tremendous cold, and
the strangeness and weirdness of it all made impression on the man. (London, 629). As the man
travels on through the freezingtemperatures he is remind of advice from and old wise man, he
had been warned of traveling alone and the dangers that could come with someone making such
decisions. The traveler was hopeful of making it back to camp by six o clock, and an hour into his
travels he is ready to stop and eat his lunch with pride in his traveling progress. However, an hour
into his travels the arrogant man was more concerned with chewing his tobacco, than thinking of
potential dangers despite his warnings, so he stopped for lunch, never sharing with his only
traveling companion, his loyal dog.

The Australian Work Health And Safety Strategy
The Australian Work Health and Safety Strategy 2012 2022 identifies several priority industries.
Priority industries are identified as having a high number of injury and / or fatalities or hazardous
in nature (Safe Work Australia, 2012). The foundation of risk management is to prevent incidents
from occurring. Accident causation theory are models or tools that are used to assist in
investigating incidents in order to prevent recurrence (Boyle, 2012). The construction industry has
been identified as a priority industry for Australia (Safe Work Australia, 2012) and will be the
focus of the review. The development of an incident reporting template will be supported by
causation models identified as relevant to the construction industry. This template will be designed
for a medium sized organisation defined as having 21 99 workers. This study starts by performing
a review and literature critic of accident causation theories and models. This review highlights the
two most relevant causation theories to the construction industry as Reason s Swiss cheese model
and System dynamics model for the causation of unsafe behaviours (SD CUB). Both models are
discussed in more detail with a comparison of model strengths and weaknesses. From the
comparison an incident reporting template is developed. Finally it is argued that a systematic
robust model should be applied that can manage the variables in the changing work environment of
the construction industry and concludes risk

Persuasive Essay On Pit Bulls
As people walk down the street they pass many different dogs, dogs of various breeds. People
pass these cute, loveable creatures walking with their owners and may even coo about them, or
wish their furry friend were with them. Suddenly, they see a vicious escape psycho killer mere
feet away from them. This killer is only a pit bull, but these people associate this breed with
violence, danger, and death. While only a few number of pit bulls are dangerous, an incredible
amount of people believe that this breed are the mass murderers of the dogrealm. Pit bulls do not
deserve the negative perceptions they receive because, other dog breeds are more aggressive,
their behaviors rely on their owners, and the sensationalized media about the breed. A dog s
temperament is the way the react in different situations. A dog with a good temperament can react
to various situations calmly and will not be aggressive. The American Temperament Test Society
holds an event a few times a year to collect data about different breeds temperaments and how
friendly these dogs are (ATTS). The test consists of walking in an enclosed track where the dog
will react to different strangers and noises. The percent of pit bulls that passed the temperament test
is 87.4 percent. This is a shockingly high percent considering that many people think they are
creatures from the devil. Pit bulls scored way higher than Dachshunds, 68.8 percent, and Collies,

Analysis Of Grace Paley s Life And Experiences Of Men And...
The author, Grace Paley, constructs short stories that illustrate the lives and experiences of men and
women living in New York City. This individual account captures the experiences of two Jewish
immigrants in the community where she was raised. Anxiety has a protagonist character that shows
apprehension about the probable destruction of the world. She confronts people that roam the street
to warn them about the danger they face and how to protect society. The panicky narrator, with
anxiety, tries to conserve society, therefore she alerts strangers of their wrongdoings, questions their
actions, and gives them advice.
The narrator s anxiety arises against the two men for the actions they display to their children;
which is our future generation. The lady and the two fathers have distinct views on how the
children should be treated. One father places his daughter from his shoulders to the ground
roughly after she makes him angry. Let s not go too far, said the young father. We could get
depressed. She WAS jumping around on my poor back and hollering Oink, oink the father pleaded
with the aged lady (Paley 833). Her concern is the father should not roughly place his child upon
the ground like he did, but the fathers have a diverse assumption on it. In the father s eyes, his
actions were acceptable for the actions of his daughter s movements on his shoulders. The father
felt his actions would prevent the daughter from demonstrating behavior like that anymore.

Analysis Of Yes Please By Amy Poehler
Have you always known what you want to be when you grow up? Amy Poehler always knew her
lifelong dream: being an actress. In her autobiography, Yes Please, she talks about growing up
acting. If someone wants to know more about the life of an actor, this nonfiction book contains a
lot of relevant information; therefore, what really happens behind the scenes. Amy s novel
contains some serious and empowering chapters of her life but also incorporates a lot of
comedy. Overall, this book was intriguing and had many interesting stories about Amy during her
career. In this novel, Amy shows how she is just like any other person. One reason this novel
was so interesting was the amount of pictures and visual aides Amy expressed throughout the
book. I really thought the pictures were detailed and added something extra to the book. There
is a picture in the book that shows Amy in a school play when she was younger: she played
Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz. Amy s acting technique is very spontaneous. I could decide right
then and there what the next moment would be. I could try something new. I could go off script
and give something a shot. I could say whatever I wanted (Poehler 5). Amy felt comfortable with
acting to where she thought she could do whatever she wanted. Upcoming actors can learn from
this that being different is admired. I like reading about how Amy s life as a child paved the
pathway to her being on SNL as an adult. She relays intriguing behind the scene facts. I did

What Are The Changes In Middle Eastern Civilization
Early civilizations in the Middle East began with the Sumerians in the Tigris Euphrates delta. This
civilization evolved into the Persian Empire through many other groups of people. Civilizations of
the Middle East changed over time politically, socially, and culturally. The change occurred through
types of government, economic class, and religion. Middle Eastern government began with rule by
priests, but became a dynasty. Economic class began as a system based on how much property one
owned, and became based on bloodline. Religion started out polytheistic, but the idea of
monotheism grew more popular over time. The civilizations of the Middle East changed politically
through systems of government.
Governing bodies evolved throughout the time of ancient Middle Eastern civilization. When the
Sumerians settled in the Fertile Crescent, they divided into city states. In each city state, a
Sumerian priest controlled the daily lives of the people from a chief building called the Ziggurat.

Buffalo Restoration Debate Essay
Buffalo Restoration Debate
Restoration of the Bison is something that has been going on for the past two decades. As a matter
of fact, several Native American tribes have come together to form the Inter Tribal Bison
Cooperative (ITBC) which has been set out to bring bison back onto the American plains in the
midwest. Bison have an intimate relationship in the traditions and rituals of Native Americans. The
importance of bison within the culture has made bringing back the bison an important issue in the
preservation of wildlife. However, some of the arguments made by the ITBC show that the bison s
economic value should be the main factor why they should be brought back. Yet others involved in
this cause suggest that buffalo restoration ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the basic arguments for the restoration of bison back onto the prairies involves the
economic benefits. Five of the nations ten poorest counties are located on Indian reservations
(Manning, WWW). With decreasing beef prices and increasing land values, the margin of profit
continues to narrow. A majority of the cattle industry that once was present in the midwest have
sought greener pastures east in states such as Florida, Tennessee, and Kentucky (Popper, D).
Another possible opponent, the Forest Service also no longer seems to focus on maximizing
their timber yields in the midwest, but rather in northern California, Oregon, and Washington
(Popper, D). Bison offer a plausible solution due to their low cost (about half as much as cattle).
Bison are also better adapted to the environment and produce the same amount of meat which is
higher in protein, lower in cholesterol and fat, compared to cattle. In terms of land usage, bison
graze and then move while cattle remain where they are thus damaging the soil. Bison also eat a
greater variety of grasses, something which lacks with cattle. A proposal made by conservationists
suggest that, Ranchers can easily switch to buffalo and sell hunting rights, meats, hides, horns, and
skulls at healthy prices (Popper DE, 1994). Care of bison is also simple because unlike cattle,
bison can withstand plains winters. Land value also increases when it offers game

Supply Chain And Its Effect On Farmers
Supermarket expansion not only affects farmers in the supply chain, but also the rest of the food
retail sector. Traditional retailers face extra competition and potential loss of market share, but
may benefit from foreign supermarkets through spillover effects of the latest retail techniques.
Large supermarket chains are also likely to affect the average retail prices in the markets they
operate. These issues are studied by Basker (2005, 2007) There is a growing empirical literature
indicating that supermarkets impose a positive productivity effect on farmers in their supply chain.
Based on field interviews with supermarkets and a farm survey among tomato growers in
Guatemala, Hernandez et al. (2007) find that farmers who are supplying... Show more content on

The results suggest that the supermarket expansion will continue, but not at an explosive rate.
There is no consensus in the empirical literature on whether the agricultural sector benefits from the
presence of supermarkets. Empirical analyses find that supermarkets represent both opportunities
and challenges for local farmers. Their contribution is the construction and calibration of a Ramsey
growth model to identify the consequences of supermarket expansion for agricultural productivity
and structural change. The methodological approach clarifies the underlying adjustment
mechanisms involved, and allows for endogenous interaction between agricultural productivity and
supermarkets dependence on local suppliers. Numerical simulations show how the two way
relationship between supermarkets and local farmers acts to reinforce dynamic processes, either
decreasing the chances of escaping a low productivity trap or strengthening technological catch up.
This kind of model simulation supplements econometric analyses that struggle with causality issues
and are unclear about the channel of effects (Stokke, 2009). Our incorporation of the productivity
linkage between supermarkets and local farmers offers a possible interpretation of the conflicting
results in the empirical literature: depending on the extent of local constraints related to

Pensions Input Periods
A PIP does not have to be the same as the tax year. PIPs can be different between pension schemes
and can be changed by an individual. For new pensions started after the 6th April 2011, a PIP will
automatically end on the 5th April. It is important to understand that PIPs are only used for the
Annual Allowance and any contributions made to a scheme will still be eligible for tax relief in
the tax year that they are made.
Annual Allowance The rate of charge
Only contributions made in excess of the annual allowance will be charged. The rate will
approximately be the top rate of income tax that is applied your income.

Carry Forward
New rules for Carry Forward have been introduced for 2011/2012 which potentially allow clients to
invest more than ВЈ50,000 to be contributed to a pension arrangement without being subject to the
Annual Allowance charge. This may be of particular importance to high earners whose pension
contributions have previously been restricted.
The new Carry Forward rules allow unused Annual Allowance to be carried forward by up to

The Fear Of Public Speaking
I ve always felt that public speaking is something that has come pretty natural to me. It was
throughout high school and again in college that I realize not everyone felt the same way. I
found that many people often dread public speaking. In college, it was really exemplified this
first semester when I heard that many people had to take a course called Communications 103,
which primarily focuses on writing and giving speeches. It didn t take this course this semester,
so all I knew about it was what I had heard through my peers. Some had a similar outlook on
public speaking and said they didn t mind having to give speeches, but others nearly had panic
attacks leading up to them. It was this mixed opinion on speeches that made me question why this
happens, if there is a way to alleviate the fear, and if a fear of public speaking is an actually thing.
In Ellysa Gonzalez s journal article Professional Speaker to Give Lecture at Tech about Public
Speaking , she explains how public speaking anxiety or the fear of public speaking, is a real
thing. In trying to explain how exactly this fear exists, Gonzalez explains it is partly because of the
human need to feel accepted . In the journal Gonzalez explains that this fear s technical name is
glossophobia . It is also among the top five most common fears (Gonzalez). After identifying that
this is an actual fear driven by the possibility of one not being accepted by those around them.
Gonzalez s article goes on to

To what degree did Amir atone for his sins and gain redemption? There is a way to be good
again, is a quote from Rahim Khan that comes up repeatedly throughout The Kite Runner. This
story revolves around Amir, the protagonist, who tries to seek forgiveness and redemption after
living twenty six years with unatoned sins. When Amir was twelve, he witnessed his loyal
servant and friend, Hassan, get raped in an alley. Amir was too coward to intervene and stand up
for his dear friend. Later, Amir betrayed Hassan by framing him and forced him to leave their
house. These events shaped the rest of the novel as Amir tried to be good again by returning back to
Afghanistanand saving Hassan s son, Sohrab from danger. One of the major... Show more content

Afghanistan until he heard that Hassan was his half brother and Sohrab was his nephew. Not only
did Amir risk his life by going back to Kabul, but he also saved Sohrab from Talibanofficials and
brought him back to Pakistan. After Amir went back to Kabul, he found out that Sohrab was being
held at one Taliban official s house. When he went there to get Sohrab, he found out that the
Taliban official was Assef; the guy who raped Hassan. Assef agreed to let Sohrab go in exchange
for a fight with Amir. While Amir gets beaten, he thinks about the day when he asked Hassan to
punish him by throwing pomegranate at him. But Hassan did not and Amir felt like he wasn t
punished. After Assef beat him up, he felt that he was redeemed because he needed to be
punished for his sins. On page 289, Amir narrates his fight with Assef, What was so funny was
that, for the first time since the winter of 1975, I felt at peace. I laughed because I saw that, in
some hidden nook in a corner of my mind, I d even been looking forward to this. My body was
broken just how badly I wouldn t find out until later but I felt healed. Healed at last. Amir felt
that he was healed because he finally was punished physically for what he did to Hassan. He was
physically damaged but at the end he was able to recover and take Sohrab back to Pakistan.

Romeo and Juliet is the tragic story of two young lovers, longing to be together but kept apart by
their families. They prove their love for each other by going behind their parents backs to meet,
to be together and to be married before meeting an untimely death. Deciding who is ultimately
responsible for their tragic end can be difficult as there are so many people who play a significant
role in their lives and who have an influence on how the play unfolds. Firstly, although Romeo and
Juliet are the protagonists of the play that doesn t mean they do not share in some of the blame.
Their courtship was very brief, the play spans less than a week, so it could be argued that they

Out on her, hilding! Act 3 Scene 5 Line 167 168 Once again, the rebellious nature of teenagers
could come into play; Capulet wants Juliet to marry Paris but she remains stubborn. This is also
a great example of how the parents in the play pay little notice to what their children want. In this
scene Juliet makes it obvious that her happiness doesn t lie with Paris yet her father ignores this
and tells her to marry him or be disowned. However some people will step up to defend the
parents and suggest they only wanted the best for their children, like any parent does. Perhaps
what was best was that Romeo and Juliet should not have met. We don t know the full details of
the feud, perhaps no one in the play does, there may be a good reason for it but there may not.
Also, nowadays it is perhaps easier to say the parents are to blame for being absent as we are
used to seeing parents play a much larger role in their children s lives. This play was written in
Elizabethan times when it was common for noble families, such as the Capulets and Montagues,
to employ a nurse to raise their children. One cannot really fault the parents if, in Elizabethan
society s eyes, they were acting accordingly. On the subject of society, arranged marriages were
probably common as well between wealthy families and were seen as the normal and proper thing.
It would have been the parents duty to see their children were well matched and that is

The Most Important Characteristics Of Odysseus A Real Hero
What makes a hero a real hero? We know what a hero is we know Batman, Superman, Iron man,
Captain America, Wonder Woman, and even Wolverine. We also know our everyday heroes
firefighters, police officers, medical personnel, and even political leaders. We also know all of our
favorite book characters. Sometimes we even think of ancient heroes, great warriors of old, but
have our expectations changed since then? After all we know some of these heroes just for
slaughtering their enemies. Do we define these people as heroes just because we ve always known
them this way. When I think of the most important characteristics that a herocan possibly have, three
traits come to mind, these are charisma, courage, and selflessness. Who better to put to the test with
this list than the ancient greek hero Odysseus.
Obviously a hero must be first and foremost smart enough to get through troubling puzzles,
challenges, and obstacles. It is important to note that charisma can be the main quality of a great
villain, as well as a great hero. Odysseus definitely has a lot of charisma, it is probably one of his
defining qualities. The odyssey is teeming with examples of how smart Odysseus is just for
example Odysseus is able to bargain with the witch Circe, go to the underworld and back, trick the
cyclops into letting them out, and secretly set up a revolution inside his own home. One example

The Results Based Budgeting Of Oakland Unified
The Results Based Budgeting of Oakland Unified
Throughout the history of the American public education, lots of problems have emerged but with
some effort from enlightened men and the federal government they were successfully solved.
However, one of those problems that proved to be intractable over the years despite the many
solutions proposed for it was and still is the income achievement gap. Professor Sean R. Reardon, a
Professor of Education and Sociology at Stanford University, showed the inevitable relationship
between parental income and the academic achievement of students. The income achievement gap

In 1965, it was the first government initiative toward a practical solution in attempting to contain
this uprising income achievement gap as they issued the Elementary and Secondary Education
Act (ESEA). Unsurprisingly, this act gained lots of popularity among education reformers at
that time as its objective was to provide equal education opportunities to all students nationwide
whether they are rich or poor. Nonetheless, the ESEA was just a quick, ready solution to provide
funds to schools at that time but not one that was extensively studied to ensure true equality in
distributing those funds. Title I of the Act, which is still implement in the new version of the
ESEA that s now called the No Child Left Behind Act of 2002, was the most important part
which contained the initiative of providing funds to eligible schools and the way they would be
distributed. According to Phyllis McClure, a civil rights activist who also served in the U.S.
Office of Education s Title I Task Force, this Title I in particular contained a loophole that
allowed for poor schools to still not get their equal share of the funds (McClure). The problem
lied in what was called the comparability provision law of Title I which allowed Title I schools,
that uses a traditional budgeting system based on their average teacher salary, to show a
comparable expenditure of their teachers

Men have always relied upon animals for work, transportation, and survival. As times have

Pets can fill a void in an owner s life, by allowing them to nurture something and receive a sense
of satisfaction. Socially pets have become so much a part of our daily lives that they are often
treated as if they were children, some lucky pets even attend daily play sessions, and are treated
to extreme indulgence; all to make their owner feel as if they were an infant or a child. Blind
owners rely on their seeing eye dogs to guide them around wherever they go; they are trained to
guide them past and around obstacles. The National Institute of Health states, More than half of all
U.S. households have a companion animal. Pets are more common in households with children,
yet there are more pets than children in American households. There are more than 51 million
dogs, 56 million cats, 45 million birds, 75 million small mammals and reptiles, and uncounted
millions of aquarium fish (np). Many movie stars and rich and famous people have begun using
pets as a status symbol. Millions of dollars are spent finding the perfect and most valuable pet even
to the extent that the original breed of animal has become unrecognizable or even extinct. This need
for high status and perfection has resulted in safety risks to both pets and the people they live with.
Inbreeding and tampering with cross genes in animals often result in an animal of inferior security
and emotional stability, thus resulting in an aggressive and violent temperament. In an attempt to

Discus, an ancient athletic game originating in the ancient Greek Olympics, was one of the first
games in the athletic competition. A throwing contest involving a weighted metal or stone disc,

What Is Bouguereau s Depiction Of The Young Shepherdess

He demonstrated artistic talent as a youth, and was allowed to attend the drawing school of M.

a contempt for Bouguereau on account of his business occupations; thus, when at the end of the

and the pupils made a formal protest against his receiving it, but without effect. (Erskine

style, and commercial incentives. He was paid top dollar for his works, and even though he had
great passion for his work, he realized that in order to succeed financially, his subjects must reflect

despite the fact that his works were often commissioned, and that he was expected to paint certain
subjects, his work still showcased a remarkable amount of passion and energy. The most
successful period of his career was after his return to France in 1854, where he became an
immensely successful and influential exponent of academic art, upholding traditional values and

Apocalypse Now Essay
Apocalypse Now is a film produced by Francis Coppola in 1979 about the Vietnam war. The film
was based off of the novel, Heart of Darkness , and is the story of an Army Captain, Captain
Willard, and his mission to hunt down and terminate Colonel Walter Kurtz. The reasoning for
sending Willard to kill one of his fellow Americans is due to the fact that Kurtz has become
unstable and has been operating against his orders with the Montagnard army and committing
murder. Kurtz has gone insane during the war and his methods are thought of as unsound and he
needs to be taken care of. Captain Willard s joins the crew of a Navy patrol boat heading down the

Everyone that Willard talks to seems shaken up and not stable. After seeing the brutal scene of
war going on at the outpost the crew starts having second thoughts about continuing with Willard
and some of the crew gets killed. After realizing that all hope with the men is gone Willard and
the crew finally find the camp where Kurtz is operating. When arriving the crew is shot at by
arrows from natives that are now under the command of Kurtz and the sight of dead bodies
everywhere and heads of dead men is what the crew sees when pulling up. Before Willard gets
off the boat he orders Chef, one of his crew members, to call in an airstrike on the position if he
doesn t come back in time. The natives that are under command of Kurtz grab Willard and drag
him through the mud and throw him in a cage. While Willard is in the cage Kurtz throws Chef s
head into the cage and this shows how the war has turned Kurtz into a monster and is no longer
sane. After being around Kurtz for a few days Willard learns that the war has really affected Kurtz
horribly. Kurtz is no longer the man he used to be and has gone completely insane and mad.
Eventually, Willard keeps his head straight and carries out the mission by terminating

  • 2. The Constitution and the Separation of Powers One of the earliest ideas of separating powers came in the 1600 s and is evidenced by the idea that the parliament then is what we would consider today as being the Legislative branch of government since it was in charge of taxes. To be a king in those days would be similar to the Executive branch, as the king conducted wars and enforced the law. However, credit is often given to Baron de Montesquieu, a French philosopher. According to the authors of our text book, John Locke initially desired there to be to branches of government, a legislative branch to create the laws and an executivebranch to enforce the laws. Montesquieu then supplemented Locke s idea by adding a judiciarybranch to resolve conflicts that the two branches by incur. When written, the Constitution laid out the basis for the separation of powers. In order to prevent any one branch of having complete control and power, each of the branches of government has certain powers and responsibilities in order to keep each other from exerting too much power. This is known as checks and balances. The first branch of government we will be looking at is the legislative branch. The legislative branch of government is responsible for making and passing laws and is more commonly known as Congress. Keeping in the nature of checks and balances, Congress has been granted certain powers to make sure that the judiciary branch and the executive branches do not abuse their power. One of the more robust powers that Congress ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. My Senior Art Therapy Capstone Class My senior art therapy capstone class gave me the tools not only to understand my personal art making process, but the benefits of artistic creation for other individuals as well. Through this final project, I was able to therapeutically process a traumatic event in my life and turn something negative into a positive light. Process based art therapy highlights the educational and transformative properties of art making and natural creation. My personal style is continuously evolving, but it is often based in collage work or drawing figures with pencil on paper. My artistic style highlights a sense of control and desire to work with traditional mediums. I ve always worked with pencil and paper or collage because of the ease of access to materials. There were always pencils and printer paper or empty journals for me to draw in no matter where I was. Additionally, I loved to draw people and create my own characters. I draw people because it brings an emotional aspect to my art that makes the drawing seem less static. When drawing different faces, I can create depth and feeling into their eyes that makes the 2 dimensional character seem real. One artist who has always inspired my style is Alphonse Mucha. Mucha s decorative art featured a variety of women with flowing hair and long billowing dresses. The women in his pieces commanded a sense of power with their brightly colored backgrounds and all knowing faces (1). I d never seen art that depicted women in such a way, not ... In the year 1958, he became the youngest PakistanCabinet Minister under President Ayub Khan. He was famous for his demagogic styles of speech, which brought him to national prominence and popularity. His rise in politics and higher echelons of power was due to his mysteriously sharp mind coupled with cunning desire to be on the top of the national politics. His astute political manoeuvrings can be gauged from the fact that on the eve of India China war in 1962, the rulers of China invited Pakistan to jointly dismember India by attacking on North East and Laddakh and Pakistan from Jammu side in Jammu and Kashmir to grab the maximum territory. Pakistan could fulfil their wish by taking Kashmir and China would grab entire North East to come closure to Indian Ocean. Bhutto disclosed the plan to General Ayub Khan the President of Pakistan but got rebuked for such a loathsome and outrageous suggestion, rather was suggested that Pakistan should have Joint Defence Agreement with India. Tylor was focused on defining the context of the scientific study of anthropology that was based on evolutionary theories inspired by Darwin and Lyell. His stance as an evolutionist fueled his belief that researching the prehistory and the history of man could be used to compare and reform modern societies. Therefore, through the use of the comparative method and historical ethnography, which included travel logs, Tylor attempted to reveal the stages of development of cultures/civilizations. Tylor s defines culture and civilization as a phenomena related according to definite Laws Methods of classification and discussion of evidence Connexion of successive stages of culture by, Permanence, Modification, and Survival... it is that complex whole which includes knowledge, belief, art, morals, law, custom and any other capabilities and habits acquired by man as a member of society (28). His definition of culture led him to believe that uniformity was manifested in culture, which resulted in uniform actions enabling uniform causes. Furthermore, Tylor states that stages of culture may be compared without taking into account how far tribes who use the same implement, follow the same custom, or believe the same myth, may differ in their body configuration and the color of their skin and hair (31). • 7. Evaluation Of A Risk Corridor For clarification a risk corridor is a formed idea that if insurance companies rake in higher cost than expected the government will reimburse the insurer to a certain percentage. As an example, if an insurer s actual claims in 2014 are at least 3% greater than the claims projected when the insurer set 2014 rates, the government must reimburse the insurer for half of the excess (Radnofsky, 2014). On top of that, if total claims jump 8% the government would be liable for 80% of the excess costs. This is a really risky move because the unhealthy population with insurance could be extremely costly. The risk corridors gave third party payers the re insurance by providing insurance to all parties. These insurers in 2015 needed massive bailouts from the government for substantial losses reaching 2.5 billion. This can become an increasing expense over the years. Most of all the taxpayers will be on the hook for these enormous losses, while funding private shareholder owned insurance companies. The main issue at hand was the Department of Health and Human Services didn t pay the full percentage that was applicable under the risk corridor, which bankrupt some insurance providers. These small changes slowly deteriorate the free exchange market the affordable care act was built upon. Amy s novel contains some serious and empowering chapters of her life but also incorporates a lot of comedy. Overall, this book was intriguing and had many interesting stories about Amy during her career. In this novel, Amy shows how she is just like any other person. One of the basic arguments for the restoration of bison back onto the prairies involves the economic benefits. Five of the nations ten poorest counties are located on Indian reservations (Manning, WWW). With decreasing beef prices and increasing land values, the margin of profit continues to narrow. A majority of the cattle industry that once was present in the midwest have sought greener pastures east in states such as Florida, Tennessee, and Kentucky (Popper, D). Another possible opponent, the Forest Service also no longer seems to focus on maximizing their timber yields in the midwest, but rather in northern California, Oregon, and Washington (Popper, D). Bison offer a plausible solution due to their low cost (about half as much as cattle). Bison are also better adapted to the environment and produce the same amount of meat which is higher in protein, lower in cholesterol and fat, compared to cattle. In terms of land usage, bison graze and then move while cattle remain where they are thus damaging the soil. Bison also eat a greater variety of grasses, something which lacks with cattle. A proposal made by conservationists suggest that, Ranchers can easily switch to buffalo and sell hunting rights, meats, hides, horns, and skulls at healthy prices (Popper DE, 1994). The methodological approach clarifies the underlying adjustment mechanisms involved, and allows for endogenous interaction between agricultural productivity and supermarkets dependence on local suppliers. Numerical simulations show how the two way relationship between supermarkets and local farmers acts to reinforce dynamic processes, either decreasing the chances of escaping a low productivity trap or strengthening technological catch up. This kind of model simulation supplements econometric analyses that struggle with causality issues and are unclear about the channel of effects (Stokke, 2009). It was throughout high school and again in college that I realize not everyone felt the same way. I found that many people often dread public speaking. In college, it was really exemplified this first semester when I heard that many people had to take a course called Communications 103, which primarily focuses on writing and giving speeches. They prove their love for each other by going behind their parents backs to meet, to be together and to be married before meeting an untimely death. Deciding who is ultimately responsible for their tragic end can be difficult as there are so many people who play a significant role in their lives and who have an influence on how the play unfolds. Firstly, although Romeo and Juliet are the protagonists of the play that doesn t mean they do not share in some of the blame. Their courtship was very brief, the play spans less than a week, so it could be argued that they rushed into their marriage without properly planning anything... Act 3 Scene 5 Line 167 168 Once again, the rebellious nature of teenagers could come into play; Capulet wants Juliet to marry Paris but she remains stubborn. This is also a great example of how the parents in the play pay little notice to what their children want. In this scene Juliet makes it obvious that her happiness doesn t lie with Paris yet her father ignores this and tells her to marry him or be disowned. However some people will step up to defend the parents and suggest they only wanted the best for their children, like any parent does. Perhaps what was best was that Romeo and Juliet should not have met. We don t know the full details of the feud, perhaps no one in the play does, there may be a good reason for it but there may not. Also, nowadays it is perhaps easier to say the parents are to blame for being absent as we are used to seeing parents play a much larger role in their children s lives. This play was written in Elizabethan times when it was common for noble families, such as the Capulets and Montagues, to employ a nurse to raise their children. One cannot really fault the parents if, in Elizabethan society s eyes, they were acting accordingly. On the subject of society, arranged marriages were probably common as well between wealthy families and were seen as the normal and proper thing. The odyssey is teeming with examples of how smart Odysseus is just for example Odysseus is able to bargain with the witch Circe, go to the underworld and back, trick the cyclops into letting them out, and secretly set up a revolution inside his own home. Nonetheless, the ESEA was just a quick, ready solution to provide funds to schools at that time but not one that was extensively studied to ensure true equality in distributing those funds. Title I of the Act, which is still implement in the new version of the ESEA that s now called the No Child Left Behind Act of 2002, was the most important part which contained the initiative of providing funds to eligible schools and the way they would be distributed. According to Phyllis McClure, a civil rights activist who also served in the U.S. Office of Education s Title I Task Force, this Title I in particular contained a loophole that allowed for poor schools to still not get their equal share of the funds (McClure).
