Against Abortion Argumentative Essay
Writing an essay on the topic of "Against Abortion Argumentative Essay" can be a challenging
task, as it involves delving into a complex and sensitive subject. Crafting a compelling argument
against abortion requires careful consideration of ethical, moral, and legal perspectives. One must
navigate through a myriad of opinions, emotions, and deeply rooted beliefs that surround the
abortion debate.
Firstly, researching and gathering relevant information is crucial. The topic spans various
domains, including medical, ethical, religious, and legal aspects. This requires an in-depth
exploration of scholarly articles, medical journals, ethical theories, legal frameworks, and
religious doctrines to present a well-rounded and informed perspective.
Developing a strong argument necessitates the ability to critically analyze and articulate one's
thoughts. Addressing counterarguments and anticipating opposing viewpoints adds complexity
to the task. Crafting a coherent and persuasive essay involves organizing ideas logically,
maintaining a clear structure, and ensuring the flow of the argument is smooth.
Moreover, maintaining sensitivity and empathy is essential when discussing a topic that involves
personal choices, beliefs, and experiences. The potential for emotional responses from readers
requires careful word choice and a respectful tone. Balancing passion with reason becomes a
delicate act, as the goal is not only to present a convincing argument but also to engage readers
in thoughtful reflection.
In addition, adhering to academic standards and proper citation practices is crucial. Providing
accurate references and citing reputable sources enhances the credibility of the essay. This,
however, demands meticulous attention to detail and adherence to the chosen citation style.
In conclusion, crafting an essay against abortion, in an argumentative format, is a demanding
undertaking. It involves thorough research, critical thinking, empathetic communication, and
adherence to academic standards. Successfully navigating through these challenges can result in
a well-crafted essay that contributes meaningfully to the ongoing discourse on this sensitive
topic.

I Am Number Four Movie And Book Comparison Essay
Rose Reeves Mr.Boynton English 4 12/11/2015 Compare And Contrast I Am
Number Four Book And Movie The novel I am number four was written by
Pittacus Lore. It is a book about a boy named John Smith who is an alien on the
run from enemies hunting him and the eight others like him. Always changing his
identity and moving to different towns with his guardian, Henri. But in the small
town of Ohio John finds love and makes new friends. He figures out he is more
powerful than he knows. The movie is much different than the book. I was really
shocked at how much they changed things in the movie. I think I liked the movie
better than the book just simply because it was pretty straight forward I didn t feel
very much suspense and I like that. Despite all the differences in the book there
were a few similarities. The names of all the characters stayed the same. The thing I
am glad they didn t change was the love between John and Sarah. I feel like that little

First thing is everything happened fast in the movie, in the book everything was
slow and leading up to the climax. In the movie it was like it all happened at once
at least that s what it felt like. As far as actual differences go there were plenty. In
the book during the first day of school Sarah was taking pictures of John, In the
movie she does not take pictures. Sam Goode wears his father s glasses in the
book but in the movie he does not. I think one of the differences I really hoped
wouldn t of been there was the fact that Sam wasn t wearing his nasa shirt in the
movie. Sarah s mom the real estate agent never sold Henri and John their house they
just kind of took the sign down and moved in without the help of a real estate agent
in the movie. John s dog transforms into a dragon like creature but without wings in
the book but in the movie he turns into a giant vicious
Nurses With Good Communication Skills
1. Why do you think that research has found that physicians with good
communication skills had fewer patient complaints and lawsuits? Identify at least two
specific ways that a doctor s communication skills can improve the patient s
experience.
Not surprisingly, poor doctor patient communication was found to be causal in
malpractice suits according to the Beth Huntington and Nettie Kuhn (2003) of the
NCBI. This helps explain why doctors and healthcare providers that possess effective
communication skills, are adept at extracting the Actual Reason for Coming (ARC) to
a treatment facility, and present themselves as credible in providing healthcare have a
higher patient satisfaction outcome (Wrench, McCroskey, Richmond, 2008).
According to Wrench, McCroskey, Richmond (2008), Physician Credibility is a key
aspect in improving a patient s experience and happiness with the care provided. The
authors state that there are three basic factors that define a patient s perception of
physician credibility; competence, trustworthiness, and caring/goodwill.
Understanding the dynamics of credibility and applying those skills to the healthcare
provider/patient relationship will ultimately improve the perception of well received
and administered healthcare.
Additionally, and arguably one of the most important communicative skills of a
healthcare provider, is his or her Sociocommunicative Orientation (SCO), or the
assertive and responsive way a provider interacts with a patient (Wrench,
Annotated Bibliography On Data Encryption Standard
1.1 Data Encryption Standard
Data Encryption standard was one of the predetermined symmetric algorithms for
the encryption of data. DES was developed in early 1970s at IBM and based on an
earlier design by Horst Feistel.
DES is one of the most and significant modern symmetric encryption algorithm, for
many years DES was known as secret code making . The algorithm was developed
in early 1970s, but due to some controversies the algorithm was published in January
1977 as an algorithm to be used for the unclassified data. The data encryption
standard, as specified is a block cipher operating on the 64 bit data block. DES also
uses a key to customize the transformation, so that decryption can be only be
performed by those who know the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Key mixing: the expansion word is XORed with a round key constructed by
selecting 48 bits from the 56 bits secret key, a different selection is used in each round.
Substitution: the 48 bits result is split into eight bit words which are substituted in
eight parallel 6 * 4 bit S boxes. All the S boxes, are different but have the same
special structure.
Permutation (P): the resulting 32 bits are reordered according to a fixed permutation
before being sent as the output.
1.3 ALGORITHM
[1] In the first step, the 64 bit plain text block is handed over to initial permutation
(IP) function.
[2] The initial permutation is performed on the input plain text.
[3] The initial permutation results in two halves of permuted block: LBlock and
RBlock.
[4] Each of LBlock and RBlock goes through 16 rounds of the encryption process,
each with its own key.
[5] From the 56 bit key, a different 48 bit sub key is generated using the
transformation.
[6] The 48 bit is XORed with the 48 bit RBlock and the resulting output is given in
the next step.
[7] Using the S box substitution procedure the 32 bit from 48 bit input.
[8] These 32 bit are permuted using P box permutation.
[9] The P box output 32 bits are XORed with the LBlock 32 bits.
[10] The result of the XORed 32 bits is become the RBlock and the old RBlock
becomes the LBlock. This process is called swapping.

Women During The Civil War
There were many famous names from the Civil War, some of the more notable
names were: Ulysses S. Grant, Thomas Stonewall Jackson, and George Custer.
These names are synonymous with great generals who fought great battles during
the war, but what about Sarah Emma Edmonds, Clara Burton, Dorthea Dix, Rose O
Neal Greenhow, and Loreta Janeta Velazquez? These names are not as known as
their male counterparts, but these ladies of the Civil War Era did their part to aide
their respective sides in the war. What these and other women did during the civil war
may not seem as important, but without their skills, knowledge, and actions some of
the great battles might have gone the other way. The Civil War marked a turning
point for women and their... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The information that she reported was invaluable in the Union s siege of Yorktown
in 1862. Although the exact number of nurses that served in the Civil War is not
known, it is estimated that between 2,000 5,000 ladies served as nurses. The nurse s
job was not an easy one, they assisted surgeons during surgery, they cleaned and fed
the troops that were in recovery, they would bandage wounds and dispense medicine
to those that needed it. Some of the more notable nurses are: Dorothea Dix part of the
founders of the US Sanitation Committee, Clara Burton founder of American Red
Cross, Louis May Alcott, and Helen Gilson. Clara Burton, also known as the Angel of
the Battlefield , started out working in the federal government in the patent office.
She was the first woman to ever hold senior clerkship, but once the war broke out,
she gave up her job and went to help tend to the sick and wounded soldiers. She
earned her nickname by riding around the battlefield delivering supplies and helping
soldiers wherever she went. Due to her hard work, in 1864 she was appointed to
Superintendent of the Female Nurses for the Union Army. Later, she was appointed

External Conflict In The Count Of Monte Cristo By...
The historical fiction novel titled The Count of Monte Cristo was written by the
well known French aristocrat Alexandre Dumas. The book was originally
published in French in 1844 but later on, after being a huge success in France, was
translated into English and many other languages. Originally having over 1000
pages, an abridged version, published by the Penguin Group (copyright 2005),
contains only 509 due to the exclusion of some parts of the actual story. The story
takes place in France, Italy, and the islands of the Mediterranean in 1815 during the
rivalry between the Royalists and the Bonapartists. The main character, Edmond
DantГЁs, is shown being about to get married to his fiancГ©, MercГ©dГЁs, until
he is framed for treason by three of his enemies, Danglars, Fernand, and Villefort.
Throughout the story supporting characters including Valentine (Villefort s
daughter), Albert (Fernand and MercГ©dГЁs s son), Haydee (DantГЁs s second
love interest), and Maximilian (Monsieur Morrel s son) appear as DantГЁs
experiences an external conflict with his rivals. Alexandre Dumas uses third person
omniscient point of view, allowing the readers to know most of the characters
thoughts and plans while still using an aspect of suspense to make sure the story is
still intriguing. In the story, Edmond DantГЁs gets framed for treason causing him to
get arrested and making him unable to get married to his betrothed, MercГ©dГЁs. In
prison, DantГЁs makes a vow to get revenge on the people
Examples Of Jealousy In My Last Duchess
In the poem My Last Duchess, love is portrayed as a very robust emotion. It is
never stated in the poem that the Duchess was killed, but the readers are able to
entail that is what happened. The Dutch was a very envious and controlling man,
with high status which is what the readers imply lead to the killing of the character
the Duchess. A major theme of the poem is jealousy which ended up in a murder, but
that should not include that Dutch did not love the Duchess, but that he did. It is
important to consider the definition of love and jealousy, under the Dutch s status,
and also if love is even a positive emotion. Oxford dictionaries defines love as an
intense feeling of deep affection. while Free dictionary defines jealous as ... Show

There she stands As if alive. After reading this one can imply that the Dutch has
had enough of the smiling at other men and the attention other men got and had
her killed. It is important though to pay attention to the word stoop that Browning
uses before that quote; E en then would be some stooping; and I choose Never to
stoop. Stoop is defined as to descend from a superior rank, dignity, or status. The
Dutch is a an old and wise man with power; more specifically nine hundred years
old. Which is an important factor to take into account when it comes to being able
to express one s emotion and being open to that kind of vulnerablility. One should be
able to see that these jealous feelings only come about because of his love towards
the Duchess. His hierarchical status does not permit him to express his true emotions.
He fixed the problem in the way he knew how.
The picture of Duchess on the wall is another portrayal of how the character the
Dutch loves the Duchess. The poem starts out by That s my last Duchess painted on
the wall, Looking as if she were alive. I call That piece a wonder, now: FrГ Pandolf
s hands Worked busily a day, and there she stands. The Dutch uses the word wonder
when talking about the picture of the Duchess
On psychology today Dr. Arthur Aron, a psychologist at the State University of New
York at Stony Brook, says intense passionate love uses the same system of the brain
that gets activated when a person becomes
Arguments Against Eugenics
The ability to promote or enhance certain capacities in the hope to develop a
superior human race connotes science fiction as well as fantasy, however the study
of eugenics proves that this act of fiction has the potential to be reality. Eugenics, or
good breeding as Sir Francis Galton would say, is a controversial topic due to the
deliberation of whether its benefits outweigh the toll that it takes on humankind. The
process of eugenicscan be viewed as humans ability to control the Natural Selection
process, which is the survival and reproduction of organisms with the best
adaptations, such as a tree frog s adaptation of different colouring to better blend in
with their surroundings to avoid predators. Scientific experimentation seeks to...

Huxley believed that the use of eugenics was a necessity to provide a solution to the
problem of overpopulation. Due to fear of a complete erosion of the world s
resources, Huxley sought to use eugenics as a means to control and regulate
population increase and to achieve some sort of balance between reproduction and
production instead of uninhibited expansion (Scarfe, 2018a, 3). In order to
successfully protect the human race from these impending horrors Huxley theorised
a eu selective program which utilizes Negative and Positive Eugenics as tools to
administer change. Negative Eugenics is the enforcement of preventative actions
such as sterilization to intentionally eradicate humans who are born with
abnormalities, genetic diseases, and mental deficiencies (Scarfe, 2018a, 2). In
contrast, Positive Eugenics would encourage individuals who Huxley deemed
genetically well endowed to reproduce in order to improve the human species as a
whole. Several strategies that Huxley proposed to enforce Negative Eugenics
include, the diminishment of social services such as public health care programs, or
financial assistance for families who do not have desirable genetics, voluntary
The Cia ( Central Intelligence Agency
Summary of company (or government agency, etc)
The CIA (Central Intelligence Agency) is an independent federal agency, it is
responsible for advancing national security intelligence to the United States
policymakers. The Intelligence the CIA acquires is used to provide strategic and
tactical advantages to take action in order to prevent threats and to advance the
United States National security goals. The CIA organizes covert activities and
objective analysis that seeks to provide the outcome of keeping our Nation safe.
Founded during World War II President Roosevelt appointed William Donovan the
first coordinator of the CIA. After the War ended, President Truman recognized the
need for a Central Intelligence Agency this led him to Sign the National Security Act
of 1947. The most recent change came after 9/11 when President Bush signed the
Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act which creamed a director over the
Central Intelligence and National Intelligence. Both directors are accountable for
Counterterrorism and the Intelligence Community. The director of the CIA is
responsible for the budget, operations and personnel, of the CIA, is chosen by the
President and confirmed by the Senate. The CIA works as advisors regarding foreign

Aristotle s Notions Of Virtues Essay
Aristotle s notions of virtues are the heart of the subject matter in Aretaic Ethics. The
concept of Aretaic ethics comes from the Greek word arete which translates as human
excellence or excellence of character, virtue (Virtue Ethics, 2013). Virtue ethics
emphasizes being a certain person with certain quality of character. Its basic concept
is that the virtueor value of the actions is not in the act itself, rather it is in the heart
of the actor. Though it may seem not overly compatible with today s notions, I
believe Aristotle s notions of virtues are an important precursor towards self
fulfillment and harmonized society.
The heart of virtue ethics is the search for eudaimonia translated in Greek for
happiness or to the concept of human flourishing (Nagel, 1972). Aristotle believes
that everything has a natural telos , an aim or a goal towards which things are
headed. For humans, the natural telos is ultimate happiness which could be
achieved through flourishing in all aspects of our lives. Virtue or excellence is a
necessary condition for happiness. So what is virtue? According to Aristotle, virtue
is a concept which exists as the mean between excess and deficiency (Sandel, 2010).
It can be viewed as the middle point between having too much and having too little.
So implementing specific virtues alongside practical wisdom over our lives would
allow us to flourish leading towards happiness.
I believe that applying Aristotle s notions of virtue alongside practical

civil wrongs that have not been arisen from the contractual duties. Under tort law,
whether it is an intentional act or accident, the injured victim (plaintiff) may be
capable to recover damages from the person that liable for the harmed caused

There was no inducement between the parties because JEB entered the contract for
independent reasons. The defendants were unaware of the misrepresentation and it
was considered as a negligent act instead of fraudulence. Besides, the complainant
judgement was not influenced by the negligent statement and he did not rely on the
information to take over the company. Throughout the decades of the 1990s, there
had been an international trend arose toward a more limited scope of negligence for
accountants liability to clients. This important reversal has been found by landmark
suggestions from some landmark cases such as Caparo v Dickman 1990. This case
concerns about the limits of the potential liabilities for the accountants through
auditing the annual accounts. The respondents, Caparo Industries Plc had took over
the Fidelity Plc by acquiring 29.9% of the issued shares and making a successful bid
for the remainder shares in the market on 1984. The annual audit of Fidelity was
regulated by statute and the Companies Act 1985 has constructed that what the

company s accounts were inexact and been audited negligently, as a result they had

Undermines Religion In The Golden CompassBy Philip
Pullman
The Golden Compass, by Philip Pullman, has been a controversial book that has been
criticized and even banned by many religious groups such as the Catholic Church and
religious right groups. Pullman undermines religion in The Golden Compass through
his characters beliefs and actions which demonstrate that the church is controlled by
people who are corrupt and will do anything to maintain power including lying,
kidnapping, inhumane experimentation, and even murder. The main character, Lyra,
is an eleven year old orphan girl who lives at Jordan College in an alternate universe
from ours. Here, people have daemons or animals always with them that represent the
true nature of their humans. Children s daemons can change shape often, but after
puberty, adult daemons are fixed and represent their owners souls. Lyra is an
innocent, tomboyish girl who constantly gets into mischief with her daemon, Pan,
and her friends. She is oblivious to the good and bad going on around her until her
Uncle, Lord Asriel, arrives and shows her evidence of the discovery of Dust in the
far North which represents original sin. From then on, Lyra is exposed to the evil
going on in her world. Children are disappearing around her. They are being
kidnapped by Gobblers, and she later learns that the children are being severed from
their daemons through inhumane experiments by the church to prevent them from
exercising free will and sinning. She thinks of this cutting as the most horrible thing,

The World Of The Crusades
These past few weeks, everyone in the tenth grade has been learning about the
crusades. The people, weapons, food, diseases, and technological advances (or
disadvantages since it was the Dark Age) were all taught to us and now it is time to
put it to the test. We learned that the crusades affected all three religions that have ties
to Jerusalem, Christianity, Judaism, and Islam. We watched Kingdom of Heaven, a
historical fiction movie based on the crusades. The time of the story that we see is
based between the second and third crusade. Although the movie had many
historically correct parts, there were also a lot of inaccuracies. My job is to show
you the inaccuracies and what would have actually happened during that time if that
crusade had actually happened. I will be touching the topics of weaponry and how
they used it, who Balian actually is, and what people actually knew during that time
period.
First off, I want to touch on the topic of weaponry and how they used it. During the
movie, Kingdom of Heaven, they show trebuchets hurtling firing rocks at the walls to
Jerusalem, horses armor, and they show Balian being able to fight and kill one
Islamic servant after only one training session with his father, Baron Godfrey.
Although this makes for a dramatic and exciting film, it just is not accurate and that
makes many historians just shake their heads.
Trebuchets were a big way of fighting in the 12th century. They got the kind of
weapons they used right, they just did
Michelle Alexander Proxy Language Analysis
The term proxy phrase was borrowed from proxy wars. It refers to coded speech
which, on the surface may seem harmless, but takes on a deeper connotative
meaning. Michelle Alexander argued that get the Law and order and Get tough on
crime are only proxy phrases or racially sanitized rhetoric for essentially clamp
down on black people. According to her, the language was first utilized by white
Southern politicians and law enforcement officials to generate and galvanize white
opposition to the Civil Rights Movement in the 1950s. But why the need to use
proxy phrases one may ask? The Civil Rights Act of 1964 outlawed discrimination
based on race, color, religion, sex, or national origin and thereby made it
unacceptable to use overt racist language.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1954, the Brown v. Board of Education Supreme Court ruling outlawed legal
segregation in public schools. This decision by the highest court was followed by
direct action and peaceful protests by civil rights activists such as Martin Luther
King Jr. who marched, walked, and sat to force the reluctant South to desegregate
public facilities. Southern governors, law enforcement, and whites felt that the
privileges they have enjoyed for centuries were threatened and sought to characterize
the activities of anti segregation protestors as criminal. A part of their argument was
that the ongoing civil rights movement stems from a breakdown in the respect for
and abidance to the law of the land and that equality for blacks would lead to
increase in crime and interestingly their argument was proven true in the FBI s
dubious crime
Similarities Between East Of Eden And Adam Trask
East of Eden is a novel whose characters are based off the Book of Genesis, and
whose actions derive from the notion of timshel. Adam Trask is one of the
protagonists in the plot and most embodies the notion of timshel. He always seems
to have to final choice between good or bad, but his definitive choice is most
influenced by the people surrounding him. Some examples include, Cyrus (his
father), Cathy (his wife), Lee (his servant), and Samuel (his friend). Although the
characters in East of Eden are not exactly the same as the ones from the Book of
Genesis, they are relatively similar. Adam Trask most represents Able and Aron from
the Book of Genesis. Adam s goodhearted, trusting, and innocent nature as a child
mimics Able. During his adulthood, Adam Trask is an almost perfect... Show more

Adam and Able were unwillingly favored by their fathers, which as a result, caused
jealousy to enter their brother s minds. When Cyrus (Adam s father) said, Call it
bad luck, but Adam is stuck being his dad s favorite. The point is, Adam doesn t
ask for Cyrus s favoritism, and he certainly doesn t want his brother s jealousy
either. But Charles sees Adam as the thing standing in between him and his dad s
love. (Steinbeck,), it left Adam in confusion. Adam did not want his father s
favoritism nor did he want his brothers jealousy, but he couldn t do anything about
it. As a result of the jealousy within his brother, Charles, he had to take Adam out
so he could get some his father s love. In the Book of Genesis, Cain murdered Able
over the same type of jealousy that Charles had on his brother. Instead of both of
them being mad at their fathers they choose to be jealous towards Adam and Able.
This is the major difference with Adam and Able, Cain kills Able, but Charles did not
slay Adam. The root cause of the incident was the unfair distribution of

Cultural Pluralism Vs Assimilation
Pluralism is when society consists of a variance of people; however, people stay in
groups in which they can identify themselves with causing culture differences to live
on. Pluralism is different than assimilation significantly. This is because pluralism is
when people group themselves with similar people to keep living their unique
cultural lifestyle and assimilation is when people of unique cultures conform to the
culturethat surrounds them (48). Rather than promoting the blend of culture, the idea
of assimilation, also called Americanization, in the past ensured the English language
would thrive and the early institutions would remain for years to come (48 49). This
varies to pluralism which welcomes the idea of racial, ethnic and cultural differences.

These groups maintain a certain individuality (55). Structural pluralism exists when
a population of people support a common culture and have small variances. Under
structural pluralism the population contains groups of people who are a part of
varying structural systems like schools (56). So cultural pluralism is when societies
have a wide range of differences including differences in languages and religions
while cultural pluralism contains more small scale differences like differences in
neighborhoods and associations (55 56). An example of cultural pluralism would be
an Amish town living next to a non Amish modern city. These groups do not
assimilate and continue their culture. Next, an example of structural pluralism would
be church on a day of worship. The people going to church would share beliefs and
language, but share different neighborhoods and schools. Regarding pluralism,
enclave minority groups can be considered to be both cultural and structural
pluralism while also being a form of
What Is The Satire In Animal Farm
During the totalitarian reign of Joseph Stalin, he was responsible for the deaths of
some fifteen to twenty million people (Naimark 11 12). The allegorization of these
atrocities and other incidents can be seen in the novella Animal Farm, a political
satire written by the novelist George Orwell. The story covers the intentional,
erroneous interpretation of the socialist ideals that allowed for the deposition of the
last Russian Czar. With the pig Napoleon portraying the tyrant Joseph Stalin, it is
demonstrated how corruption can occur when influence is superadded by authority.
However, the aspirations of a single man weren t the only things responsible for the
effective genocide of a mass of people. The citizenry played a role in the toleration
of a dictatorial regime, either through being apolitical or ignorant to what was
happening around them. In Animal Farm, George Orwell cleverly writes a host of

Not unlike others in real life, Benjamin understood the situation with the pigs.
However, he predicted that life would continue on as the same (Orwell 12, 20).
Therefore, he decided to not encourage the rise of the pigs, but he did not impede
their progress either. Hence, as a passive member of the populace, he contributed to
the rise of the totalitarian regime.
George Orwell brilliantly demonstrates how aspiring dictators aren t the only
problem in the rise of autocracies. The populace plays a large role in the process,
and their inaction or ignorance contributes, regardless of ill intent. Orwell was able to
successfully send this message through the implementation of three key characters. In
Animal Farm, George Orwell cleverly writes a host of creatures that symbolize the
submissive nature and passiveness of a populace that allows for the continuation of a
Direct From Death Row The Scottsboro Boys
In Mark Steins play, Direct from Death Row the Scottsboro Boys, we follow nine
young boys on a journey through the American justice system and how they got there
in the first place. An ordinary train ride, a tat with some white boys, and an
accusation that turns the world of these nine boys upside down. This modern tragedy
is the story of these young boys lives, and is the premise of how Aristotle s poetics
came to be. Aristotle came up with these ideas through natural philosophy which is
defined by observing the world around us, and through this process was able to
come up with the six key parts of tragedy as follows: (1) Mythos, (2) Character, (3)
thought, (4) diction, (5) melody, and (6) spectacle. With these six traits in mind,
Mark Stein s was able to adapt the horrific tale and case of the Scottsboro Boysand
apply it to the format of a modern tragedy. Following the story we find our
character Haywood going from happiness to misery, an organized sequence of the
events that took place, and an ending that ties up all loose ends. While the adaptation
may not be directly follow Aristotle s poetics, however it does follow the formula
and instead takes on a different interpretation of his work.
Characters within a Greek tragedy should follow a basic set of guidelines in order to
fit the premise of Aristotle s poetics. The characters presented to the viewer should be
consistent, good, likeable, and of high status and reputation, but do not need to
perfect (Connelly).

Artificial Selection
Over the evolution of dogs, artificial selection from humans has moulded the
different types of dogs we have today. Humans have used artificial selection to
create breeds of dogs that we see as useful for different tasks. There are around 340
different breeds of dogs around the world that are recognised by the World Canine
Organisation.
An example that I am going to use is artificial selection of working dogs
(Huntaways) used in the farming industry. Artificial breeding has been extremely
important in ensuring that you are breeding the best dogs for the job. This means
that farmers will breed their best dogs together to ensure that he has high quality
working dogs. Farmers that also compete in dog trialling, breed the dogs that are
best suited to the sport of dog trialling together because there is no point breeding a
high quality working dog with a Labrador because you will only end up going
backwards in terms of producing high quality working dogs.
Farmers breeding different breeds of working dogs together meant that they could
select for the traits that they wanted developed the Huntaway breed. This is a very
good example of artificial selection because they bred the dogs that have the traits
that they want and don t breed the dogs that have traits that they don t want. The
traits of Huntaways that good working dogs posses include a loud deep sounding
bark, medium to large frame body with great

Aliesha Seamons Mrs.Miller English 12A 15 September, 2016 On March 1, 1872,
President Ulysses S. Grant signed a law making Yellowstone National Park out of
3,468 square miles of land in Wyoming, Idaho and Montana. The people of the
United States wanted to preserve the land to let future generations see the shooting
geysers, bubbling hot pots, forests full of towering lodgepole pines, sparkling
lakes, and magnificent views of the stars at night. Of course, the land supported
unique animals such as bison, bald eagles, elk, grizzly bears, and wolves. However
within the first 50 years of being open, the wolves were hunted to extinction. They
were gone from the park for over 70 years. At that time, scientists and forest rangers
realized that the absence of wolves causing problems in the ecosystem; the elk
population had grown out of control. Therefore, in 1995 the Fish and Game
Department reintroduced wolves, which has benefited the Yellowstone ecosystem
in many ways. However, the farmer and ranchers feel negatively about the
reintroduction, feeling that wolves do nothing other than wreak havoc on livestock
and pose a dangerous threat to those visiting the park. The wolves appear as a
threat to the ecosystem of Yellowstone National Park, however they play a vital role
and keep the ecosystem balance. Today s culture encourages children to be scared of
wolves. Many of the stories shared with small

With limited growth opportunities and a handful of major players in the United

product quality. Product innovation was also critical, although few major innovations
had occurred in recent years. The apppliance firms segmented their products
according to different consumers needs, and each strived to achieve greater
economies of scale. Still, by the end of the 1990s, the competitive landscape remained
unattractive. Profit margins continued to decline for most firms. Many analysts

Christian Rap And The Music
As I sat in my chair of the fancy hall (which name I cannot remember for the life of
me) last spring when transferred to DBU for the spring SWAT I was tuning in to
different conversations around the room. Everyone was having a good time, talking,
laughing, and expressing concern about missing home. All was fine until one of the
staff members put music on, but not just any genre they put on ChristianRap (gasp
and pause for dramatic effect) I then heard the displeasure start arising from the
group of homeschoolers as they began to say why are they playing this filth? , why
are they allowing this, rap is so disgusting! I sat and pondered, This is definitely

But if lost people hear the comments of the homeschoolers that I heard we will just be
seen as stuck up and higher than the lost person. With that our ministry and witness
will began to crumble. Christ met people where they were, so why should the
Christians of today s culture do the same for the lost souls?
As someone who did not grow up in church and did not become a Christian until a
few years ago was learning that secular music, while not honoring Christ at all can
be used as a ministry. Knowing the love of Christ helped me to hear a deeper
meaning in rap songs when I listened to them. Through that I began to see that in
every rap song there was some type of brokenness to the artist as they rapped about
going through multiple girls but not finding the right one, having all this money but
never enough stuff, and looking for conformation from all the wrong people.
People, especially Christians want to look down on the rap community because the
lifestyle they live in but they cannot see that these very same people that are
idolized by the world are just as broken as we are/were. Without an understanding of
this music how can we show lost people that they can listen to the style that they are
so found of while worshipping the God that made them?
My youth minister helped me change the way I worship by not judging the rap I
was listening to, but instead pointed me into a further direction of worship with God.
I was getting set to drive us to a youth rally
A Opinion On Abortion And Abortion
Everyone has a different opinion on abortion. According to the Merriam Webster
dictionary, an abortion is the termination of a pregnancy after, accompanied by,
resulting in, or closely followed by the death of the embryo or fetus, spontaneous
expulsion of a human fetus during the first 12 weeks of gestation, induced expulsion
of a human fetus, expulsion of a fetus by a domestic animal often due to infection at
any time before completion of pregnancy. Abortionis, and always will be a
controversial topic.
There are many different ideas of what people believe the right thing to do is. Every
state or country has different ways of handling abortion laws. In countries such as the
United States, where the law permits termination of pregnancy prior to fetal viability,
or thereafter, if the life or health of the pregnant woman is at stake, it is for the
physician, and not the state, to determine whether or not an individual fetus is viable
(i.e., capable of living independently of its mother); the determination must be made
consistent with accepted medical criteria (Health Law)
Two groups have emerged during this controversy. These two groups are known as
pro life and pro choice. According to the article Abortion on Britannica School pro
life or, Opponents of abortion, or of abortion for any reason other than to save the life
of the mother, argue that there is no rational basis for distinguishing the fetus from a
newborn infant; each is totally dependent and potentially a
Megan Kanka Case
Megan Kanka and several other children have been the reason for the safety of

person contributed to the safety of other children. Well Megan Kanko was a 7

Hamilton Township, New Jersey. The difference between then and now is that in
the past there were no laws stating that pedophiles had to inform those who lived
near them that they were there, of their past convictions, or even some type of
registration available. This was the case of Megan Kanka s offender, Jesse

The Effects Of Drone Use On National Parks
The Effects of Drone Use in National Parks
Drones have been a debatable topic since the 1930s. Some countries have banned
them, some states have banned them, and even the United States National Park
Service has banned them. There has been controversy for the last few years of this
new rising robot on whether the U.S. National Park Service should allow it or
whether it should be illegal in our parks. They were invented during World War II to
help the military spy on enemies. Their technical term is a UAV (Unmanned Aerial

situations where manned flight isn t an option. These flying robots have come in

He agreed to a plea deal that would ban him from the park for one year as well as
probation in Germany. Meissner was charged with leaving property unattended,
commercial filming without a permit, and violating the ban on drones. He faced up
to six months in jail and fines for each violation. Most drone users in National Parks
have good intentions, being in one of the most beautiful places in the world, who
wouldn t want to capture that from an artistic view? Teachers, artists, photographers,
filmmakers are the ones wanting to film these national parks from a different
perspective. Showing the beauty and teaching those who don t know enough about
national parks are the key reasons of these drones.
Teaching others about national parks through the internet is a great way for people
to learn if they aren t fortunate to be able to visit these parks in person.
Philanthropists may see the beautiful footage a drone can capture and want to

An Analysis Of Like A Dog Chasing Cars By Hans Zimmer
I chose to start my first song, Like a Dog Chasing Cars by Hans Zimmer from the
very beginning and at 1:50:53 in the movie/ where he says hang him from the
bridge . I feel like this scene had an astonishing amount of tension and suspense.
Rob Roy was fighting for his life and as can be seen in the movie was willing to do
anything to get away. In the song I chose it starts out soft but has a crescendo as the
musiccontinues. I thought this fit with the scene very well, because at first when
Rob Roy jumps off the bridge it is more surprising than suspenseful, but then as the
scene continues it becomes more stressful. In Like a Dog Chasing Cars there is an
overall minor tone to the whole piece. Throughout the whole piece there is both a
crescendo and accelerando which makes a building feeling. The building feeling is
finally almost released when I end the piece and the soldiers walk away from Rob
Roy. There is a recurring melody and steady background beat also helps pace the
piece. The background for the most part is also very staccato while the
overlapping pitches are legato. Also, near where I m ending it there is a new sense
of hopefulness, because the pitch of the notes is raised a little bit. Also, I think there
might be a keychain to add to this new light tone. The hope connects to the movie,
because there is hope that Rob Roy might actually escape. The music ends when the
soldiers walk away from Rob Roy.
I chose to start the second 14:41 minutes into the song, because
Ordered Successive Interference Cancellation ( Osic ) Is...
Abstract In this paper, ordered successive interference cancellation (OSIC) is adopted
with minimum mean square error (MMSE) detection to enhance the multiple input
multiple output (MIMO) system performance. The optimum detection technique
increases the system complexity with improved error rate performance. Therefore,
MMSE OSIC detection is used which gives reduced error rate compared to
traditional MMSE with a considerable level of complexity. The system performance
is analyzed in a composite fadingenvironment which deals with multipath and
shadowing, known as Weibull gamma (WG) fading environment. Along with the
composite fading, a composite noise i.e. additive white generalized Gaussian noise
(AWGGN) model is taken into account to form various noise scenarios such as
impulsive, Gamma, Laplacian, Gaussian and uniform noise. Consequently,
generalized Q function is used to develop such noise scenario. The average symbol
error probability (ASEP) of MIMOsystem is computed for 16 quadrature amplitude
modulation(16 QAM) using MMSE OSIC detection in WG fading with AWGGN.
Analytical expressions are evaluated in terms of Fox H function (FHF). These
expressions demonstrate the best fit to simulation results.

Optimism And Racism
Write it on your heart that every day is the best day of the year. This quote by Ralph
Waldo Emerson appears to be a charming, quaint sentiment, although a sentiment
which is seemingly not applicable to modern society. However, is it possible that
each individual could establish an optimisitc, sanguine attitude throught all the days
of their life? In retrospect, I sincerely believe that this is attainable, through a
conscious, caring attitude to our thoughts.
Genuinely unadulterated optimisim and joy is so recherere in modern society.
However, optimisim and an audcaious thrist for a jovial life is wildly infectious. The
significant question still stands. How do we obtain this unshakeable optimism
through the storms of life, through clossal challenges, through unfair critisim and
rejection?
When we see unabashedly optimisic indivudals who rejoice in life and modify the
way we look at this immense, vast, capacious world, we wonder how to procure what

A commonly practiced technique includes observing an atrocious, unpreposessing

Optimisitic inviduals are typically empthatic and compassionate. They view

things they have to be thankful for. This motivates and fuels their splendid attitudes.

The National Nursing Shortage
The national nursing shortage is an ever growing concern, and it is essential for
healthcare organizations to confront the looming issue. Possible solutions to the
nursing shortage include retaining older nurses who are looking to retire, increasing
the amount of students graduating from nursing schools, and drawing nurses back
to the bedside who have left the nursing workforce (Hatcher, 2006). Leaders must
assess the nursing turnover in their organization, and they must strategize on ways
to retain those nurses. Organizations must implement techniques to retain older
nurses to help combat the national nursing shortage and prevent a national
healthcare disaster (Keller Burns, 2010). The purpose of this paper is to identify
the demographic breakdown of an organization, explain how the organization s
environment is conducive and non conducive for older workers, and describe
tactics to retain older workers. Demographic Data Southern Ohio Medical Center

The National Football League (NFL) is the professional football league that most
people recognize as the giant of American football. However, the game did not
begin with a professional level. The first ever game of football that was played
happened on the college level on November 6, 1869. It took place in New
Brunswick, New Jersey and was a game that put Rutgers University against Princeton
University. The two schools are located only 20 miles from each other.
At that time, players were not allowed to pass the football in the air or run with it
down the field. The only way to move the ball down the field was by batting the ball
or dribbling it kind of like you were playing soccer. There were no
An Individual s Identity Is Shaped By Many Aspects Of...
An individual s identity is shaped by many aspects of their life, but the ones where
they either experienced hardship or were oppressed are the most prominent in
defining their identity. Individuals who identify as LGBTQ often have to deal with
issues of inequality in their everyday lives, because the dominant group, straight
individuals, create an environment where others feel oppressed. In many situations
the dominant group feels as though anyone not like them needs to change, and
because they believe sexual orientationis a choice, they should just be straight. The
importance of maintaining individualfreedom, even when laws that oppress people

While he was talking about race, the argument still applies to sexuality, and necause
LGBTQ individuals had to endure this injustice it was not only their privilege, but
their right to take action against it. Taking this initiative to create an equal society
was best accomplished through nonviolent resistance. Martin Luther King Jr., a large
proponent of nonviolent campaigns, writes about how there are four basic steps in
creating a campaign. First the collection of the facts to determine whether injustice
exists, which in this case it does based on the definition of an unjust law. Next, self
purification, this is having the confidence to unwaveringly believe in a cause and not
stray from non violence resistance. Third direct action which is used to create enough
tension in the community so that something happens, in this case causing friction
between the government and LGBTQ individuals. Finally, negotiation, where people
worked with the government to change the law so that LGBTQ individuals have the
right to get married. While, this does not have an affect on societal view it at least
makes individuals freedoms legal. Martin Luther King Jr., believe in talking the
initiative to challenge unjust laws that revoke personal freedom and accepted all
sorts of punishment, from the dominant group, for it. This was similar to what
LGBTQ individuals were willing to do for equality, but with regards to sexual
orientation not race. Individual expression is another way that the

with toys and showed us the importance of the early stages of a child s
development. Her lack of formal medical training was initially an obstacle to her
professional development, but it was probably another asset in allowing her to
develop her own ideas and thoughts (Robert Hinshelwood, Susan Robinson and

Introjection is where the external object is transferred to the inside. An example of
this would be when a loved one has died, that person and their traits are part of their
identity. These theories are still used in psychotherapy today.
Paranoid schizoid position is another Kleinian theory and it is described as splitting
the self and the object into the good and bad . The mothers breast can be seen by a
child as opposite in nature at different times, the good breast (gratifying object) and
the bad breast (frustrating object) .The splitting allows the good object to stay
separate from the bad, keeping things a child love apart from things they don t.
The next phase of this theory Depressive position is a person s ability to handle his
or her own feelings and instincts. Klein thought the feeling of guilt and anxiety
determine and defines a person s physical position. If this issue is not addressed
during childhood then the chances of the depressive position occurring in adulthood
is much higher. Guilt and grief over hateful attacks and over the damaged state of
external and internal objects, varying in level of felt catastrophe on a scale from
normal mourning for loss to severe depression (Melanie Klein Trust

Downtown without birds is like a tree without roots you wonder what is holding it

downtown there not scared of anything they wait till the last moment to fly away if
they do even decide to do that while your driving and they are in the middle of the

out of place and its there town your just walking by or passing by. For the most part

Close Reading of Middleton and Rowley s The Changeling
Essay
Within Middleton and Rowley s The Changeling the selective use of language
accentuates various ideas and notions, demonstrating the capability words have in
manipulating perceptions. It is the strategic placement of double entendres on behalf
of DeFlores that greatly affect consequences, as disguising his lustful intents as
honesty aids in the damnation of himself and Beatrice. Although deceiving in nature
only to Beatrice, through the insertion of asides, only the audience remains
knowledgeable of these entendres, causing troublesome irony. Furthermore, it is the
manipulation of language that really accentuates the effects of Beatrice s ignorentia,
causing her to descend the social order, and, incite her objectification. Hence, it is...

This misunderstanding later eventuates in a form of rhetorical irony, as Beatrice

pleasure (3.4.116) which, unlike Beatrice, is a notion the audience is never deceived

concept of pleasure as a bodily figure, dominating DeFlores hierarchy of needs, with
wealth a lowly necessity wealth figuratively dragging along the ground behind
Pleasure s heels, thus nullifying its value. This manipulative use of language is
commented upon by Kistner and Kistner who notes that the multiple meanings and

Emotion In The Film Gallipoli
Group Essay Describe at least 1 important emotion in the film Gallipoli . Explain how
visual and verbal features used help us to understand these emotions.
In the 1981 film Gallipoli, directed by Peter Weir, there are various emotions felt
throughout the film that help to express important themes. Excitement and sadness
are two key feelings that are focused on, nearly every scene. They help emphasise the
wastefulness of young life and potential, but also the patriotic attitude towards war at
the time.
Gallipoli follows young athlete Archie Hamilton on his journey to fight alongside the
Australian Light Horse Infantry at Turkey s borders. On his way, he develops a
friendship with his closest sprinting rival, Frank Dunne, who also joins ... Show more

A sad tone is expressed throughout the entirety of the film, and helps develop the
themes of the wastefulness of life and potential during war. A visual technique that
shows this emotion/theme is the close up of Archie s watch. We first see a close up
of his watch in the opening scene where Uncle Jack is timing his races. Later, just
before Archie and the men go over the top, we see another close up of Archie s
watch as he hangs it on the bayonet. This is symbolic of Archie s time running out;
that his time is about to end, and gives the scene a sad connotation. This close up
also links the beginning and the end of the film, and emphasises how great Archie
could have been, reiterating the idea of the wastefulness of life and potential.
Lighting is a key film technique that can immensely impact emotions and themes.
During the scene where the soldiers disembark onto the shores of Gallipoli, the
director uses a blue filter to give the scene a more eerie and sad feel. In using this,
Peter Weir was able to use the scene to create a big impact on the mood of the film.
Immediately after they disembark, we see that the soldiers moods have changed.
They are now starting to realise the reality of war, and have had a change in
perspective. Sadness is now the dominant theme for most of the rest of the film.
The colour blue is associated with seriousness, so is an ideal filter to use for a
scene like this to help portray sadness. A panning shot of all the soldiers corpses
after they go over the top is also extremely effective. The shot consists of a slow
pan across the battlefield looking at all of the corpses lying on the ground.
Immediately, the emotion of sadness sinks in, as this scene portrays the
wastefulness of life the most effectively. The film ends abruptly with an 8 second
freeze frame of Archie as he is shot. Archie looks as if he is breasting the tape at the
end of a running race. This shot

The Holy One of Israel in Isaiah
The Holy One of Israel This essay concerns about the meaning of the divine title
The Holy One of Israel in the Book of Isaiah. It is going to state clearly the study
approach before going into the discussion.
Approach of this essay
The book of Isaiah had been studied through different approaches of which three are
quite distinctive[1].
(1)A pre critical, or traditional, understanding, still found in some conservative
scholars. They keep the entire book of Isaiah connected to the prophet Isaiah of the
eighth century B.C.E. There is nothing intrinsically impossible as the approach is
prophecy . With the rise of historical criticism , such an approach has been commonly
rejected in the interpretive world.

Israel acquires holiness by being obedient to God s commandments and faithful to His
covenant (Lev 11:44; Deut 28:9)[4]. The concept of holiness permeates the life of
Israel. Even the land occupied by the people is considered holy (Zech 2:12). The
capital city Jerusalem is designated as the city of God, the holy habitation of the
Most High (Ps 46:4).
The Holy One of Israel
The term The Holy One of Israel reflects the dialectical relation between The Holy
One and Israel . It is a relation with the Holy One with a non holy entity[5]. The
Holy One requires Israel to be holy. Be holy because I, the Lord Your God, am holy
(Lev 19:2). The separate one becomes the attached one. Their relation is bound by
covenant. The challenge of the relation is Israel s unfaithfulness in worshipping
other god s. The most notable example is the imposition of Baal worship on the
northern kingdom by Ahab s marriage to Jezebel. Both the northern and the southern
kingdoms suffered captivity. Any rebellious from Israel side causes discipline from
The Holy One side. Exile from Israel causes In the midst from the other, punishment
causes redemption , go astray causes teaches and leads etc. In the Book of Isaiah, the
Holy One is the Lord, God. The Lord has passion. He is angry at Israel who rejects
His laws (5:24; 31:1) but His compassion is good news more directly for the
powerless (29:19). He is the Creator of Israel (43:15), the Maker of this nation (17:7;
Dr. Lee s President Park
Originally from Seoul, South Korea, Dr. Hong Yong Pyo received his B.A. and J.D.
from Yonsei University, and a Ph.D. in international relations from Oxford
University. He has been serving as a Blue House secretary for unification issues since
his nomination by President Park Geun hye as the unification minister on February
17, 2015.
Minister Hong was also a researcher at the Korea Institute for National Unification
for four years and served as the head of the Institute of Unification Policy in
Hanyang University. Before stepping into politics, he also worked as a professor of
political science and diplomacy at Hanyang University.
Dr. Hong first entered politics when he joined Park s transition committee in late
2012. With the launch of the new administration in 2013, President Park tapped
Hong as her presidential secretary for unification. Dr. Hong was an assistant to
President Park for two years during which time he was well known for having played
a key role in crafting President Park s policies on unification affairs.
Minister Hong was initially nominated after President Park carried out a partial
reshuffle of the Cabinet on February 17, nominating three new ministers for
unification, maritime, transport and financial regulation. All the nominees were
required to undergo confirmation hearings at the National Assembly, however, only
the prime minister had veto power. Having previously worked with President Park on
the inter Korean issues since 2010, he is expected
The Rockwell Collins Satellite Transportable Terminal
The Rockwell Collins Satellite Transportable Terminal (STT) is an important satellite
for the signal branch that is used to make communications virtually anywhere. A
suspension system needs to be put into the STT so that it will not be damaged while
being loaded and transported. There are three shock systems available with different
spring constants and dampingcoefficients. The three shock systems are called Air
Coasters, Cloud Riders, and Extreme Shocks. A HMMWV was being tested when it
began bouncing up and down, so the soldiers operating the vehicle shut it down for
fear of it breaking down. Some engineers re fired the gun so they could take
measurements of its displacement from the ground in order to understand what was
happening, but they only took measurements for 60 seconds before they shut it down.
Free Dampened System Loading the Trailer The suspension system can be modeled
using the following equation: m (d^2 x)/(dt^2 )+ОІ dx/dt+kx=f(t) x(t) is the
displacement from its rest position in meters, m is the mass of the object in
kilograms, ОІ is the damping constant in kg/second, k is the spring constant in kg
/sec2, and f(t) is the external force in Newtons (N). The mass of the satellite is
1800 kg and the satellite is at equilibrium when the trailer is loaded. Before the
trailer is loaded, the displacement of the shocks is 0.05 meters, so the starting
displacement is 0.05. The critically damped value of each shock is calculated in

Vertigo Essay
Vertigo (1958), directed by Alfred Hitchcock, is an American psychological thriller
film that communicates ideas, themes and issues through the use of its visual style.
The visual stylistic choices enable the exploration of madness, scopophilia and
feminist film theory within the film. This paper will critically analyse how this is
realised mainly through the use of the Vertigo effect , spirals as a motif, the male
gaze and colour.
The theme of madness is a centerpiece to the film. Vertigo was the first film to utilize
the dolly zoom or the Vertigo effect , an effect that is intended to create the
perception of disorientation (Wollen 1997, p.14). The effect is meant to be a
representation of Scottie s acrophobia. It conveys that he is falling away from
himself or to suggest that he is realizing that everything he once believed in is not
true (Wollen 1997, pp.14 15). Hitchcock also used the effect in the climax of the film

58). This has contributed to audience viewing the female body as an object. By the
end of the film it could be argued that Judy turns into a doll and Midge turns into a
painting. When Midge and Madeline get the rare opportunity in cinema to view
through the male gaze, they appear to be depressed when looking at portraits of
another women as the realize what men see them as.
Hitchcock however challenges the male gaze in this film. In a key scene in the
film about two thirds into it, Judy has a flashback which reveals to the audience
what actually did occur on top of the bell tower. This use of a female character
being afforded a flashback is uncharacteristic and not stereotypical in Hollywood
films at the time and can been seen as attempting to change the stereotype of the
male gaze (Wollen 1997, pp. 16 18). This challenges the male gaze due to the lead
female character not being seen as a passive object for the first time in the
Western Imperialism and Modern East Asia Essay example
Western imperialism in East Asia caused many tribulations for China, Japan, and
Korea but also helped them to become contemporary nations. The East Asian
countries were tremendously affected by unequal treaties, extraterritoriality, and
above all, technology. Great Britain encroached upon China their greed for open trade
with the Chinese empire resulting in the deterioration of the Chinese culture, which
led to the emergence of a modernized civilization. Japan was co subjugated by Russia
and the United States so that the trade routes of these western countries could extend
into the east, which resulted in the foundation of industrialization in Modern East Asia
. Finally, the spread of western Christianity and influential neighbors,... Show more

Chinese traders began exchanging tea and silver to The East India Company for a
return of Bengali opium imports. Consequently, as the opium addicts rose, so did the
supply and demand of exports from Great Britain to China. The ensuing drug
trafficking accordingly corrupted many Chinese officials. The opium cartel held by
The East India Company made other British agents unhappy, as they too wanted
trading monopolies with China in areas such as industrialized textiles. By 1834,
Great Britain directed Lord Napier to bypass the commerce authority in China, the
Cohong, and negotiate matters of trade with China s governor general who declined
any business agreements for the reason that the Chinese saw no reason to sully their
dignity by dealing with barbarians . (pp. 298) Hence, in 1839, when Imperial
Commissioner Lin Zexu arrived in the Chinese trading port of Guangzhou to
suppress the opium transfer, war broke out between Great Britain and China.
Commissioner Zexu was successful in eradicating the opium from the port, yet the
Opium War was a defeat for the Chinese and their morality. Queen Victoria of Great
Britain quickly retaliated on China and gained British compensation to their exported
commodities and an agreement from China for the repayment to British peddlers for
their destroyed property. Chinese officials were also forced to not only expand
Western trade giving British merchants direct access to the Qing court
Essay Similarities between Greek and Egyptian Mythologies
The ancient world was comprised of mysteries. There were no scientific explanations
for the structure of the world, the existence of humans, or the meaning of life. To
explain these dilemmas they turned to religion and mythology. However, as were
often isolated geographically there was no universal answer to any of these questions,
though many cultures many have derived similar solutions to certain questions,
despite being separated by large physical distances, such as the Greeks and Egyptians.
Although there are minor differences, Greek and Egyptian mythologies share many
similarities.
One parallel between Greek and Egyptian creation stories is that they both begin
with a God or Gods being created from the universe. The creation of ... Show more

In Greek and Egyptian mythologies, there is a supreme God. In Greek tradition
this was Zeus, Zeus was now King of all the gods and lived on Mount Olympus.
(Corsar, Reid Rooney, and Smith 9) In Egyptian mythology, this position was first
held by Osiris, and the other deities herald him by saying He lives, the King of Upper
and Lower Egypt, beloved of Ra, living forever! Heir of Geb, Osiris, beloved of the
gods, Osiris, given life, endurance, joy, health, all happiness, like Ra! (Kaster 81)
After being murdered by Set, he became ruler of the Netherworld, and was replaced
as King of Upper and Lower Egypt, by his son, Horus. The idea of a supreme deity is
common in both Greek and Egyptian traditions.
Some Greek deities can also be identified with Egyptian ones, in particular the
Greek Dionysus and the Egyptian Osiris. They both preside over fertility, in
addition to their other duties. Another similarity is that they are both twice born.
Dionysus was born first from Semele s womb and then later from Zeus s thigh. Osiris
was the son of Geb and Nut and was resurrected by Isis after being murdered by Set.
(Livingston, Greek and Egyptian Religious Parallels) Other Gods and Goddesses
that are similar include Horus and Apollo, Isis and Demeter, Hathor and Aphrodite,
Neith and Athena and Bast and Artemis. (FOOTNOTE GREEK AND EGYPTIAN
RELIGIOUS PARALLELS) There appears to be an overlap between many deities in
Greek and Egyptian mythologies.

The Learning And Teaching Strategies
Many great learning and teaching strategies are presented in the text, How we learn...
of which a few learning tactics, namely discrimination, perceptual learning, chunking
and interleaving will be briefly discussed as to how they have relevance in my
context. To begin we will examine discrimination, the brain s ability to detect minute
differences in sights, sounds and textures. [Such is considered]...one of the first steps
we take in making sense of the world (Carey, 2012, p.180). This learningtechnique
occurs often during HT training as students detect differences in breathing patterns of
those being treated, l see slight tremors or body twitches that accompanies release of
stagnate energy and perceived smoothness of textures in the human energy field
(Mentgen Bulbrook, 2011). Next, perceptual learning occurs as the brain takes notice
of subtle differences in techniques, such as hand positions that seem the same but
may not have the same therapeutic effect. Another learning strategy that can be
useful in HT training is chunking which is the simple act of grouping bits and
pieces of information together to make a whole (or at minimal a segment) of a
concept. For example words stringed together create sentences and sentences which
are connected formulate paragraph. In the case of HT chunking is necessary as a
series of hand movements and/or places equate to a specific healing technique. The
final relevant strategy from the text is that if interleaving, a cognitive science

  • 2. I Am Number Four Movie And Book Comparison Essay Rose Reeves Mr.Boynton English 4 12/11/2015 Compare And Contrast I Am Number Four Book And Movie The novel I am number four was written by Pittacus Lore. It is a book about a boy named John Smith who is an alien on the run from enemies hunting him and the eight others like him. Always changing his identity and moving to different towns with his guardian, Henri. But in the small town of Ohio John finds love and makes new friends. He figures out he is more powerful than he knows. The movie is much different than the book. I was really shocked at how much they changed things in the movie. I think I liked the movie better than the book just simply because it was pretty straight forward I didn t feel very much suspense and I like that. Despite all the differences in the book there were a few similarities. The names of all the characters stayed the same. The thing I am glad they didn t change was the love between John and Sarah. I feel like that little hint of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First thing is everything happened fast in the movie, in the book everything was slow and leading up to the climax. In the movie it was like it all happened at once at least that s what it felt like. As far as actual differences go there were plenty. In the book during the first day of school Sarah was taking pictures of John, In the movie she does not take pictures. Sam Goode wears his father s glasses in the book but in the movie he does not. I think one of the differences I really hoped wouldn t of been there was the fact that Sam wasn t wearing his nasa shirt in the movie. Sarah s mom the real estate agent never sold Henri and John their house they just kind of took the sign down and moved in without the help of a real estate agent in the movie. John s dog transforms into a dragon like creature but without wings in the book but in the movie he turns into a giant vicious
  • 3. Nurses With Good Communication Skills 1. Why do you think that research has found that physicians with good communication skills had fewer patient complaints and lawsuits? Identify at least two specific ways that a doctor s communication skills can improve the patient s experience. Not surprisingly, poor doctor patient communication was found to be causal in malpractice suits according to the Beth Huntington and Nettie Kuhn (2003) of the NCBI. This helps explain why doctors and healthcare providers that possess effective communication skills, are adept at extracting the Actual Reason for Coming (ARC) to a treatment facility, and present themselves as credible in providing healthcare have a higher patient satisfaction outcome (Wrench, McCroskey, Richmond, 2008). According to Wrench, McCroskey, Richmond (2008), Physician Credibility is a key aspect in improving a patient s experience and happiness with the care provided. The authors state that there are three basic factors that define a patient s perception of physician credibility; competence, trustworthiness, and caring/goodwill. Understanding the dynamics of credibility and applying those skills to the healthcare provider/patient relationship will ultimately improve the perception of well received and administered healthcare. Additionally, and arguably one of the most important communicative skills of a healthcare provider, is his or her Sociocommunicative Orientation (SCO), or the assertive and responsive way a provider interacts with a patient (Wrench,
  • 4. Annotated Bibliography On Data Encryption Standard 1.1 Data Encryption Standard Data Encryption standard was one of the predetermined symmetric algorithms for the encryption of data. DES was developed in early 1970s at IBM and based on an earlier design by Horst Feistel. DES is one of the most and significant modern symmetric encryption algorithm, for many years DES was known as secret code making . The algorithm was developed in early 1970s, but due to some controversies the algorithm was published in January 1977 as an algorithm to be used for the unclassified data. The data encryption standard, as specified is a block cipher operating on the 64 bit data block. DES also uses a key to customize the transformation, so that decryption can be only be performed by those who know the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Key mixing: the expansion word is XORed with a round key constructed by selecting 48 bits from the 56 bits secret key, a different selection is used in each round. Substitution: the 48 bits result is split into eight bit words which are substituted in eight parallel 6 * 4 bit S boxes. All the S boxes, are different but have the same special structure. Permutation (P): the resulting 32 bits are reordered according to a fixed permutation before being sent as the output. 1.3 ALGORITHM [1] In the first step, the 64 bit plain text block is handed over to initial permutation (IP) function. [2] The initial permutation is performed on the input plain text. [3] The initial permutation results in two halves of permuted block: LBlock and RBlock. [4] Each of LBlock and RBlock goes through 16 rounds of the encryption process, each with its own key. [5] From the 56 bit key, a different 48 bit sub key is generated using the transformation. [6] The 48 bit is XORed with the 48 bit RBlock and the resulting output is given in the next step. [7] Using the S box substitution procedure the 32 bit from 48 bit input. [8] These 32 bit are permuted using P box permutation. [9] The P box output 32 bits are XORed with the LBlock 32 bits. [10] The result of the XORed 32 bits is become the RBlock and the old RBlock becomes the LBlock. This process is called swapping. [11] The RBlock
  • 5. Women During The Civil War There were many famous names from the Civil War, some of the more notable names were: Ulysses S. Grant, Thomas Stonewall Jackson, and George Custer. These names are synonymous with great generals who fought great battles during the war, but what about Sarah Emma Edmonds, Clara Burton, Dorthea Dix, Rose O Neal Greenhow, and Loreta Janeta Velazquez? These names are not as known as their male counterparts, but these ladies of the Civil War Era did their part to aide their respective sides in the war. What these and other women did during the civil war may not seem as important, but without their skills, knowledge, and actions some of the great battles might have gone the other way. The Civil War marked a turning point for women and their... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The information that she reported was invaluable in the Union s siege of Yorktown in 1862. The book was originally published in French in 1844 but later on, after being a huge success in France, was translated into English and many other languages. Originally having over 1000 pages, an abridged version, published by the Penguin Group (copyright 2005), contains only 509 due to the exclusion of some parts of the actual story. The story takes place in France, Italy, and the islands of the Mediterranean in 1815 during the rivalry between the Royalists and the Bonapartists. The main character, Edmond DantГЁs, is shown being about to get married to his fiancГ©, MercГ©dГЁs, until he is framed for treason by three of his enemies, Danglars, Fernand, and Villefort. Throughout the story supporting characters including Valentine (Villefort s daughter), Albert (Fernand and MercГ©dГЁs s son), Haydee (DantГЁs s second love interest), and Maximilian (Monsieur Morrel s son) appear as DantГЁs experiences an external conflict with his rivals. Alexandre Dumas uses third person omniscient point of view, allowing the readers to know most of the characters thoughts and plans while still using an aspect of suspense to make sure the story is still intriguing. In the story, Edmond DantГЁs gets framed for treason causing him to get arrested and making him unable to get married to his betrothed, MercГ©dГЁs. In prison, DantГЁs makes a vow to get revenge on the people

The Dutch was a very envious and controlling man, with high status which is what the readers imply lead to the killing of the character the Duchess. A major theme of the poem is jealousy which ended up in a murder, but that should not include that Dutch did not love the Duchess, but that he did. Stoop is defined as to descend from a superior rank, dignity, or status. The Dutch is a an old and wise man with power; more specifically nine hundred years old. Which is an important factor to take into account when it comes to being able to express one s emotion and being open to that kind of vulnerablility. One should be able to see that these jealous feelings only come about because of his love towards the Duchess. His hierarchical status does not permit him to express his true emotions. He fixed the problem in the way he knew how. The picture of Duchess on the wall is another portrayal of how the character the Dutch loves the Duchess. The poem starts out by That s my last Duchess painted on the wall, Looking as if she were alive. I call That piece a wonder, now: FrГ Pandolf s hands Worked busily a day, and there she stands. Due to fear of a complete erosion of the world s resources, Huxley sought to use eugenics as a means to control and regulate population increase and to achieve some sort of balance between reproduction and production instead of uninhibited expansion (Scarfe, 2018a, 3). In order to successfully protect the human race from these impending horrors Huxley theorised a eu selective program which utilizes Negative and Positive Eugenics as tools to administer change. Negative Eugenics is the enforcement of preventative actions such as sterilization to intentionally eradicate humans who are born with abnormalities, genetic diseases, and mental deficiencies (Scarfe, 2018a, 2). In contrast, Positive Eugenics would encourage individuals who Huxley deemed genetically well endowed to reproduce in order to improve the human species as a whole. • 11. Aristotle s Notions Of Virtues Essay Aristotle s notions of virtues are the heart of the subject matter in Aretaic Ethics. The concept of Aretaic ethics comes from the Greek word arete which translates as human excellence or excellence of character, virtue (Virtue Ethics, 2013). Virtue ethics emphasizes being a certain person with certain quality of character. Its basic concept is that the virtueor value of the actions is not in the act itself, rather it is in the heart of the actor. Though it may seem not overly compatible with today s notions, I believe Aristotle s notions of virtues are an important precursor towards self fulfillment and harmonized society. The heart of virtue ethics is the search for eudaimonia translated in Greek for happiness or to the concept of human flourishing (Nagel, 1972). Aristotle believes that everything has a natural telos , an aim or a goal towards which things are headed. For humans, the natural telos is ultimate happiness which could be achieved through flourishing in all aspects of our lives. Virtue or excellence is a necessary condition for happiness. So what is virtue? According to Aristotle, virtue is a concept which exists as the mean between excess and deficiency (Sandel, 2010). It can be viewed as the middle point between having too much and having too little. So implementing specific virtues alongside practical wisdom over our lives would allow us to flourish leading towards happiness. I believe that applying Aristotle s notions of virtue alongside practical

Pullman undermines religion in The Golden Compass through his characters beliefs and actions which demonstrate that the church is controlled by people who are corrupt and will do anything to maintain power including lying, kidnapping, inhumane experimentation, and even murder. The main character, Lyra, is an eleven year old orphan girl who lives at Jordan College in an alternate universe from ours. Here, people have daemons or animals always with them that represent the true nature of their humans. Children s daemons can change shape often, but after puberty, adult daemons are fixed and represent their owners souls. Lyra is an innocent, tomboyish girl who constantly gets into mischief with her daemon, Pan, and her friends. Humans have used artificial selection to create breeds of dogs that we see as useful for different tasks. There are around 340 different breeds of dogs around the world that are recognised by the World Canine Organisation. An example that I am going to use is artificial selection of working dogs (Huntaways) used in the farming industry. Artificial breeding has been extremely important in ensuring that you are breeding the best dogs for the job. This means that farmers will breed their best dogs together to ensure that he has high quality working dogs. Farmers that also compete in dog trialling, breed the dogs that are best suited to the sport of dog trialling together because there is no point breeding a high quality working dog with a Labrador because you will only end up going backwards in terms of producing high quality working dogs. Farmers breeding different breeds of working dogs together meant that they could select for the traits that they wanted developed the Huntaway breed. This is a very good example of artificial selection because they bred the dogs that have the traits that they want and don t breed the dogs that have traits that they don t want. But if lost people hear the comments of the homeschoolers that I heard we will just be seen as stuck up and higher than the lost person. With that our ministry and witness will began to crumble. Christ met people where they were, so why should the Christians of today s culture do the same for the lost souls? As someone who did not grow up in church and did not become a Christian until a few years ago was learning that secular music, while not honoring Christ at all can be used as a ministry. Knowing the love of Christ helped me to hear a deeper meaning in rap songs when I listened to them. Through that I began to see that in every rap song there was some type of brokenness to the artist as they rapped about going through multiple girls but not finding the right one, having all this money but never enough stuff, and looking for conformation from all the wrong people. People, especially Christians want to look down on the rap community because the lifestyle they live in but they cannot see that these very same people that are idolized by the world are just as broken as we are/were. Without an understanding of this music how can we show lost people that they can listen to the style that they are so found of while worshipping the God that made them? I feel like this scene had an astonishing amount of tension and suspense. Rob Roy was fighting for his life and as can be seen in the movie was willing to do anything to get away. In the song I chose it starts out soft but has a crescendo as the musiccontinues. I thought this fit with the scene very well, because at first when Rob Roy jumps off the bridge it is more surprising than suspenseful, but then as the scene continues it becomes more stressful. In Like a Dog Chasing Cars there is an overall minor tone to the whole piece. Throughout the whole piece there is both a crescendo and accelerando which makes a building feeling. The building feeling is finally almost released when I end the piece and the soldiers walk away from Rob Roy. There is a recurring melody and steady background beat also helps pace the piece. The background for the most part is also very staccato while the overlapping pitches are legato. Also, near where I m ending it there is a new sense of hopefulness, because the pitch of the notes is raised a little bit. Also, I think there might be a keychain to add to this new light tone. The hope connects to the movie, because there is hope that Rob Roy might actually escape. The music ends when the soldiers walk away from Rob Roy. I chose to start the second 14:41 minutes into the song, because

Abstract In this paper, ordered successive interference cancellation (OSIC) is adopted with minimum mean square error (MMSE) detection to enhance the multiple input multiple output (MIMO) system performance. The optimum detection technique increases the system complexity with improved error rate performance. Therefore, MMSE OSIC detection is used which gives reduced error rate compared to traditional MMSE with a considerable level of complexity. The system performance is analyzed in a composite fadingenvironment which deals with multipath and shadowing, known as Weibull gamma (WG) fading environment. Along with the composite fading, a composite noise i.e. additive white generalized Gaussian noise (AWGGN) model is taken into account to form various noise scenarios such as impulsive, Gamma, Laplacian, Gaussian and uniform noise. Consequently, generalized Q function is used to develop such noise scenario. The average symbol error probability (ASEP) of MIMOsystem is computed for 16 quadrature amplitude modulation(16 QAM) using MMSE OSIC detection in WG fading with AWGGN. Analytical expressions are evaluated in terms of Fox H function (FHF). These expressions demonstrate the best fit to simulation results. Taking this initiative to create an equal society was best accomplished through nonviolent resistance. Martin Luther King Jr., a large proponent of nonviolent campaigns, writes about how there are four basic steps in creating a campaign. First the collection of the facts to determine whether injustice exists, which in this case it does based on the definition of an unjust law. Next, self purification, this is having the confidence to unwaveringly believe in a cause and not stray from non violence resistance. A sad tone is expressed throughout the entirety of the film, and helps develop the themes of the wastefulness of life and potential during war. A visual technique that shows this emotion/theme is the close up of Archie s watch. We first see a close up of his watch in the opening scene where Uncle Jack is timing his races. Later, just before Archie and the men go over the top, we see another close up of Archie s watch as he hangs it on the bayonet. This is symbolic of Archie s time running out; that his time is about to end, and gives the scene a sad connotation. This close up also links the beginning and the end of the film, and emphasises how great Archie could have been, reiterating the idea of the wastefulness of life and potential. Lighting is a key film technique that can immensely impact emotions and themes. During the scene where the soldiers disembark onto the shores of Gallipoli, the director uses a blue filter to give the scene a more eerie and sad feel. In using this, Peter Weir was able to use the scene to create a big impact on the mood of the film. Immediately after they disembark, we see that the soldiers moods have changed. They are now starting to realise the reality of war, and have had a change in perspective. Sadness is now the dominant theme for most of the rest of the film. The colour blue is associated with seriousness, so is an ideal filter to use for a scene like this to help portray sadness. A panning shot of all the soldiers corpses after they go over the top is also extremely effective. The shot consists of a slow pan across the battlefield looking at all of the corpses lying on the ground. Immediately, the emotion of sadness sinks in, as this scene portrays the wastefulness of life the most effectively. The film ends abruptly with an 8 second freeze frame of Archie as he is shot. Archie looks as if he is breasting the tape at the end of a running race. This shot

Free Dampened System Loading the Trailer The suspension system can be modeled using the following equation: m (d^2 x)/(dt^2 )+ОІ dx/dt+kx=f(t) x(t) is the displacement from its rest position in meters, m is the mass of the object in kilograms, ОІ is the damping constant in kg/second, k is the spring constant in kg /sec2, and f(t) is the external force in Newtons (N). The mass of the satellite is 1800 kg and the satellite is at equilibrium when the trailer is loaded. Before the trailer is loaded, the displacement of the shocks is 0.05 meters, so the starting displacement is 0.05. The critically damped value of each shock is calculated in Appendix A. • 50. Vertigo Essay Vertigo (1958), directed by Alfred Hitchcock, is an American psychological thriller film that communicates ideas, themes and issues through the use of its visual style. The visual stylistic choices enable the exploration of madness, scopophilia and feminist film theory within the film. This paper will critically analyse how this is realised mainly through the use of the Vertigo effect , spirals as a motif, the male gaze and colour. The theme of madness is a centerpiece to the film. Vertigo was the first film to utilize the dolly zoom or the Vertigo effect , an effect that is intended to create the perception of disorientation (Wollen 1997, p.14). The effect is meant to be a representation of Scottie s acrophobia. It conveys that he is falling away from himself or to suggest that he is realizing that everything he once believed in is not true (Wollen 1997, pp.14 15). Hitchcock also used the effect in the climax of the film when Scottie looks ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 58). This has contributed to audience viewing the female body as an object. By the end of the film it could be argued that Judy turns into a doll and Midge turns into a painting. When Midge and Madeline get the rare opportunity in cinema to view through the male gaze, they appear to be depressed when looking at portraits of another women as the realize what men see them as. Hitchcock however challenges the male gaze in this film. In a key scene in the film about two thirds into it, Judy has a flashback which reveals to the audience what actually did occur on top of the bell tower. This use of a female character being afforded a flashback is uncharacteristic and not stereotypical in Hollywood films at the time and can been seen as attempting to change the stereotype of the male gaze (Wollen 1997, pp. 16 18). This challenges the male gaze due to the lead female character not being seen as a passive object for the first time in the
  • 51. Western Imperialism and Modern East Asia Essay example Western imperialism in East Asia caused many tribulations for China, Japan, and Korea but also helped them to become contemporary nations. The East Asian countries were tremendously affected by unequal treaties, extraterritoriality, and above all, technology. Great Britain encroached upon China their greed for open trade with the Chinese empire resulting in the deterioration of the Chinese culture, which led to the emergence of a modernized civilization. Japan was co subjugated by Russia and the United States so that the trade routes of these western countries could extend into the east, which resulted in the foundation of industrialization in Modern East Asia . Finally, the spread of western Christianity and influential neighbors,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... McGuire 2 Chinese traders began exchanging tea and silver to The East India Company for a return of Bengali opium imports. Consequently, as the opium addicts rose, so did the supply and demand of exports from Great Britain to China. The ensuing drug trafficking accordingly corrupted many Chinese officials. The opium cartel held by The East India Company made other British agents unhappy, as they too wanted trading monopolies with China in areas such as industrialized textiles. By 1834, Great Britain directed Lord Napier to bypass the commerce authority in China, the Cohong, and negotiate matters of trade with China s governor general who declined any business agreements for the reason that the Chinese saw no reason to sully their dignity by dealing with barbarians . (pp. 298) Hence, in 1839, when Imperial Commissioner Lin Zexu arrived in the Chinese trading port of Guangzhou to suppress the opium transfer, war broke out between Great Britain and China. Commissioner Zexu was successful in eradicating the opium from the port, yet the Opium War was a defeat for the Chinese and their morality. Queen Victoria of Great Britain quickly retaliated on China and gained British compensation to their exported commodities and an agreement from China for the repayment to British peddlers for their destroyed property. Chinese officials were also forced to not only expand Western trade giving British merchants direct access to the Qing court
  • 52. Essay Similarities between Greek and Egyptian Mythologies The ancient world was comprised of mysteries. There were no scientific explanations for the structure of the world, the existence of humans, or the meaning of life. To explain these dilemmas they turned to religion and mythology. However, as were often isolated geographically there was no universal answer to any of these questions, though many cultures many have derived similar solutions to certain questions, despite being separated by large physical distances, such as the Greeks and Egyptians. Although there are minor differences, Greek and Egyptian mythologies share many similarities. One parallel between Greek and Egyptian creation stories is that they both begin with a God or Gods being created from the universe. The creation of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Greek and Egyptian mythologies, there is a supreme God. In Greek tradition this was Zeus, Zeus was now King of all the gods and lived on Mount Olympus. (Corsar, Reid Rooney, and Smith 9) In Egyptian mythology, this position was first held by Osiris, and the other deities herald him by saying He lives, the King of Upper and Lower Egypt, beloved of Ra, living forever! Heir of Geb, Osiris, beloved of the gods, Osiris, given life, endurance, joy, health, all happiness, like Ra! (Kaster 81) After being murdered by Set, he became ruler of the Netherworld, and was replaced as King of Upper and Lower Egypt, by his son, Horus. The idea of a supreme deity is common in both Greek and Egyptian traditions. Some Greek deities can also be identified with Egyptian ones, in particular the Greek Dionysus and the Egyptian Osiris. They both preside over fertility, in addition to their other duties. Another similarity is that they are both twice born. Dionysus was born first from Semele s womb and then later from Zeus s thigh. Osiris was the son of Geb and Nut and was resurrected by Isis after being murdered by Set. (Livingston, Greek and Egyptian Religious Parallels) Other Gods and Goddesses that are similar include Horus and Apollo, Isis and Demeter, Hathor and Aphrodite, Neith and Athena and Bast and Artemis. (FOOTNOTE GREEK AND EGYPTIAN RELIGIOUS PARALLELS) There appears to be an overlap between many deities in Greek and Egyptian mythologies.

  • 54. The Learning And Teaching Strategies Many great learning and teaching strategies are presented in the text, How we learn... of which a few learning tactics, namely discrimination, perceptual learning, chunking and interleaving will be briefly discussed as to how they have relevance in my context. To begin we will examine discrimination, the brain s ability to detect minute differences in sights, sounds and textures. [Such is considered]...one of the first steps we take in making sense of the world (Carey, 2012, p.180). This learningtechnique occurs often during HT training as students detect differences in breathing patterns of those being treated, l see slight tremors or body twitches that accompanies release of stagnate energy and perceived smoothness of textures in the human energy field (Mentgen Bulbrook, 2011). Next, perceptual learning occurs as the brain takes notice of subtle differences in techniques, such as hand positions that seem the same but may not have the same therapeutic effect. Another learning strategy that can be useful in HT training is chunking which is the simple act of grouping bits and pieces of information together to make a whole (or at minimal a segment) of a concept. For example words stringed together create sentences and sentences which are connected formulate paragraph. In the case of HT chunking is necessary as a series of hand movements and/or places equate to a specific healing technique. The final relevant strategy from the text is that if interleaving, a cognitive science

This person, this target audience, will be called Raven. Raven is female and recently turned 26. ABC reaches Raven because the three shows all have relationship heavy dramas that target a female and feature young adult characters. Raven is in the midst of her career in business. She is working her way out of an entry level position in an office and is hoping to manage in the future. Raven enjoys these three ABC shows because they feature strong female characters who are working hard in their perspective fields just as she is. ABC offers Raven a chance to see other strong women taking charge and commanding attention and respect in what many would consider male dominated fields. Raven comes home after a long day of work, pops some popcorn for a snack, pours a glass of wine and settles in on the couch to take her mind off the stress of the day. ABC offers her a full night of her favorite shows to get involved in the drama and adventure for a full three hours. It is Raven s favorite part of the week. She can rely on ABC to provide this for her. Program Recommendation Another show currently running on ABC Raven would enjoy is Quantico. Quantico is an hour long crime drama series. It focuses on the training and future work of FBI agents and their personal drama. Raven would enjoy
