Traveling The World, By Mary Anne Radmacher
Artist and author Mary Anne Radmacher once said I am not the same having seen the moon shine on
the other side of the world. This quote expresses how seeing the world affects you. Two years ago I
traveled to Europe with my school and that experience has dramatically changed my perspective on
life.
Traveling the world made me realize how lucky I am to live in the United States. I have read books
that detail the struggles of Holocaust victims. I have even visited a Holocaust museum in Washington,
DC but nothing can compare to the sadness I felt when I entered the wrought iron gate of the Dachau
concentration camp. This camp is located in Dachau, Germany and served as a prison for Jewish
people and prisoners of war during World War II. This

Spoken Language Essay
Explore some of the similarities and differences between the language young people use in their
spoken language and how young people communicate on web based communication such as MSN and
Facebook. The world has changed greatly over the years. The language has evolved and culture has
changed, mostly due to the large increase in the number of people who use mobile phones and social
networking sites, such as MSN and Facebook. Especially the younger generation that have developed
a new form of communication that s not Standard English which we have called slang . I am going to
analyse an MSN conversation between two boys named JJ and Pete and a girl called Kat22 . In this

You will find that punctuation is rarely used in most texts and if there is any then it will occur
randomly or be over used throughout the conversation because at the end of the day there are no rules
to online communication. Consequently, there are lots of concerns about online communication use
and its potential dangers. John Humphrys says, It s pillaging our punctuation; savaging our sentences;
raping our vocabulary. I agree with him as text speak is slowly taking over our Standard English, more
than ever now as nearly everyone has a mobile device. One of the major disadvantages about text
speak is that since it is not standard, there are no single spelling for some words and as different
people have different texting styles, one might misunderstand the message and feel offended due to
this misinterpretation. In addition to this, when people write text messages in text speak, they often
lose depth and meaning, sadly people often forget how to write in Standard English using correct,
standard spelling and grammar. Also, more and more people are using their mobile phones all the
time; this could possibly lead to anxiety as they are constantly checking their phones for any new
texts/notifications etc. Texting and typing too much can lead to repetitive stress injury which isn t
something that young people should have. Likewise, some teenagers may

Tibet Imperialism
Vincenzo Villeggiante
Tibet has had a very long history within and outside of China. For many years, Tibet was its own
kingdom, ruling over the plateau for which it is named with full sovereignty. However, Tibet
eventually came under the official rule of the Qing dynasty, the Manchu dynasty of China. Within
Qing, Tibet retained a very high level of local autonomy, having its own government and many
qualities similar to independent countries. In some ways, it didn t even identify as being part of Qing.
An example is the time when China was divided into multiple spheres of influence between European
powers. The British had enforced a trade law on China, but the Dalai Lama at the time refused to obey,
citing Tibet as not part of China. This continued ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Republic of China never attained direct control over Tibet, and so there was a de facto
independent Tibetan state. This unofficial and unrecognized country continued to exist for about forty
years. During this time, Tibet was controlled by a very conservative people. Refusing to modernize
and/or industrialize. When the communist revolution in China occurred, and the former government
fled to Taiwan, they would have to face a new threat: the People s Republic of China. The People s
Republic claimed that the Tibetan government was exploiting the citizens as serfs, and that they
should be liberated from them by none other than the People s Liberation Army. Although Tibet
actually had a high resemblance to medieval European feudalism, the government never exploited the
citizens per se. When the PLA was at their doorstep, they were nowhere near prepared and were
conquered by the Chinese. They were eventually officially annexed into China, and the 14th Dalai
Lama was exiled to India. Under the PRC, the Tibetans endured many hardships that were brought
upon them. The so called Great Leap Forward led to widespread starvation, and the Great Proletarian
Cultural Revolution led the Red Army to destroy thousands of cultural artifacts and sites,

Collagen IV
Collagen IV, the primary constituent of the basement membrane provides stability and structural
integrity to epithelial and vascular tissues. Additionally, collagen IV plays a vital role in cell signaling
and can be influential in the progression of certain auto immune diseases. Structurally collagen IV is
an oligomer of triple helical protomers that are covalently crosslinked by the means of sulfilimine
bonds. The bond itself has been evolutionarily conserved and has direct contributions to tissue
development as well as autoimmune disease. Given these developments the goal of the research that
contributed to this paper was to find the molecular mechanism by which sulfilimine bonds were
formed. To do so they employed the use of PFHR 9 cells ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The purpose of Figure 3 to determine the ability of peroxidasin to biochemically catalyze sulfilimine
bond formation they expressed and purified human peroxidasin. When reacted with uncrosslinked
collagen IV isolates, addition of human peroxidasin led to formation of the dimeric crosslinked
substrate at low enzyme to substrate ratios as depicted in figure 3a. To affirm that the theorized
mechanism of halogenation for sulfilimine bond formation they tested the ability of peroxidasin to
form crosslinks in the absence of halides. As expected minimal crosslinking occurred, and it was
supported that crosslinks formed as a result of halogenation. The rest of figure 3 investigates the role
of peroxidase in hypohalous acid production specifically; HBr and HCl. Different peroxidases showed
preferentiality in which hypohalous acid they formed. If peroxidasin used these acids to form
crosslinks, the intermediates should help trigger the reaction when staged in an environment lacking in
crosslinks. Isolated Collagen IV with HCL and HBR yielded cross linked subunits. Other peroxidases
also formed crosslinks with the exception of lactoperoxidase because it does not efficiently form
hypochlorous or hypobromous acid and therefore can ont effectively crosslink. The subsequent figures
tested whether peroxidasin catalyzed the formation of the sulfilimine

Dolores Liquor Observation
On 01/07/2017 at approximately 2258 hours, while patrolling the town of Dolores, I observed two
males at the front door of the Dolores Liquor Store located at 202 South 3rd Street, Town of Dolores,
County of Montezuma, State of Colorado.
Dolores Liquor store is located on the corner of Railroad Avenue and 3rd Street. The front door faces
east and is the only customer access. There are two doors at the front that are recessed into the
building and covered. The north door accesses the liquor store and the south door access the office but
is not utilized.

of the store was damaged and after reviewing their surveillance, determined that the camera was in
working order until 01/07/2017 at 2250 hours.
I responded to the Dolores Liquor store at approximately ** hours and spoke with Isabelle Boyce. She
stated that they contacted the security company for assistance in downloading the captured
surveillance footage. I viewed the surveillance and observed three individuals walk in the area and to
the Dolores Liquor Store at approximately 2238 hours. While walking southeast toward the building,
one of the males looks toward the camera. He appears to be wearing khaki colored jeans and a hooded
jacket. The jacket appears to have blue sleeves, a large blue pocket located directly in front of the
jacket and extends for both hands and the chest portion of the jacket appears to be patterned with
words across the chest. He also appears to be wearing yellow in color skater style shoes. At
approximately 2255 hours, the male appears to now have a white covering over his jacket and face
and while utilizing a large wood object resembling a wooden dowel, he approaches the camera and
smashes the camera. I took digital photographs of the male but the images are distorted and not clear.

Atkins Diet Effects
Living in a world that seeks instant gratification, losing weight quickly rather than safely seems to be
more important. This is one of the reasons that high protein, low carbohydrate diets such as the Atkins
diet are so popular. The Atkins diet claims that by consuming less carbohydrates, the body will burn
fat including body fat to use as fuel. As a cardiologist, Dr. Robert Atkins, the creator of the Atkins diet,
claimed this diet was completely safe. However, he does not explain the effects of the diet that go
beyond simply weight loss. The Atkins diet can have many negative health effects in the long term.
The way that the Atkins diet works is by forcing your body to used fat as fuel rather than glucose, the
body s preferred fuel source.

The Consequences Of Love In Wuthering Heights And A Storm...
Love and war are exactly alike. It is lawful to use tricks and slights to obtain a desired end. (Don
Quixote. Cervantes. Part II Chapter 21). The spark of love can be compared to that of an actual fire,
one constructed slowly with proper materials will have a long lasting flame; one built with improper
materials will burn with blitz, or not at all. The consequences of love are always overlooked, as the
flame it creates is blinding. Love is the Achilles heel of a character s honour. It s force allows
impossible, or forbidden relationships between relatives, opposing personalities or opposing sides.
Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet could have never lead a platonic relationship, raised on opposing
sides to hate each other; it is the power of love that allowed such a relationship to form. The same
goes for characters in Wuthering Heights and A Storm of Swords. It blinds to the consequences of
breaking vows and rules, and forsaking honour. In George R.R. Martin s A Storm of Swords, and
Emily Brontë s Wuthering Heights, ill fated relationships lead to feuds waged, broken families, and
ultimately death, because a vow or rule was broken, thereby demonstrating the immense repercussions
of dishonour.
In A Storm of Swords, Prince Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark are married to, or betrothed to
another. They run off together, dishonouring themselves, their partners, and their houses; leading to
war, devastation, and the death of themselves and their families. Rhaegar swore a vow

Bilingual Education Controversy
The Disputation Over Bilingual Education There are many aspects of the United States education
system that many people would agree need change or in the minimal improvement. One topic under
the education system that has had much controversy since it was first introduced is Bilingual
Education. Bilingual Education is the teaching or practice programs of two languages to teach content
ranging from kindergarten to high school. Bilingual Education programs vary in levels and languages.
Some programs are designed to assimilate non english speakers into the English language, others are
meant develop knowledge of a completely different foreign language. Equally the goal proficiency of
the language varies drastically. Some programs are meant to teach students the basic understandings of
the language in oder to write and speak it adequately and others are meant to allow the student to
reach a fluency level. One of the most popular type of program would be a Spanish and English
program since Spanish is the second most spoken language in the United States. The most common
type if bilingual program is intended to transition native Spanish speakers into the English language;
this is way of helping kids assimilate into the American culture. However, the use of two languages
established in the education system has been a controversial idea since first introduced. It receives
differing support and has not been able to achieve a conclusive establishment in the public school
system. The

Back To The Future Structure
Back to the Future is regarded as one of the most classic movies from the 80s. Though up until this
class I had never seen it. The movie recounts the story of Marty McFly as he tries to get back from the
past after the scientist Doc Brown accidentally sends him back. Furthermore, Marty must also have his
parents fall in love after mistakenly changing the course of time. The film can be viewed as a simple
coming of age story from the 80 s with a unique structure when it comes to time, but when examined
more closely gives a clear example of how the narrative structure works. Narrative structure is how
the narrative or story is shown to the audience in its 3 acts. The narrative structure molds the viewing
experience, through character development

Pregnancy Prevention Essay
Pregnancy Prevention Introduction: Pregnancy is not always a planned or wanted event in peoples
lives, and so we have man made ways to prevent pregnancy from happening. Everyone has the
freedom of choice, both male and female, so therefore there are both male and female methods of
contraception. There is an expansive range of contraception methods world wide, and they can be as
extreme as being operated on, such as having a tubal ligation or a vasectomy. The more minor options
are using condoms or taking a type of contraceptive pill. In this essay I will also talk about the
different factors which effect the way people feel about contraception, as many people have beliefs
which may not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, the World Health Organization (WHO) describes EC as a contraceptive method used by
women in the first few days following unprotected intercourse to prevent unwanted pregnancy. Some
conservative political and religious organizations seek to limit women s reproductive choices by an
inaccurately characterizing EC as abortion, when in fact; the WHO considers it a safe contraceptive.
Respect for women s rights to reproduce self determination also requires governments to ensure that
women give their full, informed consent before receiving a contraceptive method. Government
policies that disregard a women s own wishes in order to meet demographic goals put women in
danger of coercive and violent practices. Subjecting women to surgical sterilization or administering
contraceptive injections or implants without her informed consent, for example, violates women s
fundamental reproductive rights. Consistent and correct use of modern methods of contraception can
prevent many unwanted pregnancies. In order to meet their international commitments, governments
must improve access for men, women, and adolescents to high quality family planning information
and services that offer a range of freely chosen contraceptive methods. Methods of contraception:
Male methods: Male methods could potentially be safer, more effective, and easier to use than

Gender Norms And Coercion Analysis
Gender norms are rules that live all around us but there is a conflict whether, the relationship between
complying with the gender norms and coercion is that both agree to gender norms. We see gender
norms everyday whether we notice them or not, it is a sad thing that lives in society and affects our
everyday lives. A gender norm is a social role encompassing a range of behaviors that are generally
considered acceptable based on their sex. We are born to these gender norms, it is something we are
taught since we are little by society and even our own parents. I remember when I was little and I
found myself in the boy aisle one time and I remember being amazed seeing how much different
things boys had. All we girls had were babies and dolls

A Summary Of The Short-A Short Story
The rusty, scarlet gear of Jimmy s clock starts to turn as usual on this crisp autumn morning. Although
school was out on this particular Sunday in 1945, the ringing of his clock began at six o clock and
lasted until the drowsy boy could lift his rawboned hands. The crimson colored cotton blanket was
tiredly kicked off by his scrawny foot. His light skin was soon met with a chilling breeze that gave
shivers down the boys four foot seven frame. The undersized pin house was lively and sprawling with
activity for such an early morning as Jimmy wandered for breakfast. The stairs screamed out as he
walked them, just like it had done thousands of times, although he still gets frightened from the ear
piercing noise. Alfred, the family dog, greets Jimmy as he steps out into to house s main room. The lab
s cinnamon fluff completely shields his hefty body, making it almost hopeless to find even his eyes,
which lay camouflage beneath the wool. Mama had already fried the eggs and bacon and poured milk
for three. The Blou family had lost their only daughter, Tina, from Influenza only a year before. The
family still breaks down at the thought of her, but they have become better in recent months. After
devouring the homemade breakfast, the Blou s split apart to do their given tasks. Papa and Jimmy are
assigned to work at the fields while Mama stays indoors except for the occasional visit outside to the
men. Although it s a routine morning for the Blou s, something was different, at least Jimmy could
feel it. Just as Jimmy reaches for his trusty hoe, an alarm beckons over the entire eighty seven acres of
Little Rock farmland. After the alarm sounded, the family gathered at the house. What s happening
Mama? questioned Jimmy, unsure if he should be worried. Don t be scared, Jimmy. Everything is just
fine, assured Mama, although Jimmy knew something was wrong. Jimmy watched as his father rushed
into their bedroom and return only moments later with three bags already packed, one for each of
them. He started to ask himself if his parents knew about this beforehand, but he was still too shaken
and the words couldn t find the exit. Get to the car now. Everyone go! announced Papa. I ll go get

Elements Of Criticism In Flowers In The Attic
In V.C. Andrews novel, Flowers in the Attic, the elements of classic Gothic literature are present in
profuse quantity, relating directly to the ideologies outlined in Noël Carroll s The Philosophy of
Horror, or, Paradoxes of the Heart. Andrew s novel dements the ideologies of a late twentieth century
America, directing her focus towards the perversion of the family unit through her incorporation of
incestuous relationships and inconceivable familial abuse. The characters draw heavily on Carroll s
ideas of the forbidden, staunchly disrupting social normality, and layering the pages of the novel with
an unspoken horror. Flowers in the Attic deeply embraces the tradition of the Gothic, proving itself a
contemporary to the genre established ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Why does Andrews choose such controversial depictions? In a culture so centered on Christian
fundamentals, as that of the American society, Cathy s loss of innocence by the hands of her brother
reveals a horror unbeknownst to many. The depiction of incest is a strong one, and Andrews seeks a
thrill factor in the forbidden. The scene is graphic, violent, and outrageous to most readers, setting a
very strong precedence for horror, a key factor in the creation of the Gothic. Throughout the pages,
Cathy also becomes a representation of the Enlightenment, juxtaposed against the stark religious
beliefs of her estranged family. The children suffer horrendous abuse and torment under their
grandmother s care, from bloody lashings to starvation. The abuse calls upon a more primal instinct in
Cathy, and she begins to find herself distanced from religion. By the end of the novel, she takes
matters away from God and into her own hands: This was to be our last day in prison. God would not
deliver us, we would deliver ourselves (Andrews 377). Her rationality outweighs her faith as Cathy
realizes the only way out of the attic is by their own motivation, rebelling against the religious
obedience they were forced into during their years locked away. In the ways of the Gothic, it
challenges the repressive norms of religious subservience, and to Carroll s accounts, it allows the
opportunity for thoughts and desires outside the culture s notions of acceptability to take

The View of Womanhood in La Belle Dame Sans Merci, Mariana and The Eve of Saint Agne

These three poems show a wide range of visions of woman hood. La Belle Dame Sans Merci shows a
temptress, Mariana portrays woman as awaiting man and The Eve of Saint Agnes depicts woman as
nubile. So here we are shown the two extremes of womankind, and then Madeline in The Eve of Saint
Agnes as the almost perfect medium.

Her rich attire creeps rustling to her knees; / Half hidden, like a mermaid… / …and sees/ In fancy,
fair St. Agnes in her bed . This shows how she is ready for marriage and to lose her virginity, but her
innocence is shown as she dares not look behind, or all the charm is fled . Unlike la Belle Dame she
does not the man to loiter . Madeline does have this temptress value, which is shown as Porphyro
accuses her of being a Belle Dame Sans Mercy when she will not wake. But the contrast is that
Madeline does not know this and does this unintentionally.
Keats describes la Belle Dame Sans Merci with an admiration. It is almost as if he is the man in the
poem. It seems this way because it is a narrative poem. The poem tells a story, in a conversational
way. Ah what can ail thee the first line asks. Then Keats proceeds to tell the story. Keats shows man as
weak in this poem, love as a disability. We are shown how this man is overcome by emotion as he is
left palely loitering in case la Belle Dame returns. In Keats s extract from The Eve of Saint Agnes he
describes her as a figure of beauty. This time it is portrayed as genuine and deep as Madeline is not
aware of an audience. The story of The Eve of Saint Agnes is a charming one as we see love, as it
should be; requited and true. Tennyson depicts Mariana as a weak

Furthermore, Assuming That The Gorges’ Fifteen Year-Round
Furthermore, assuming that the Gorges fifteen year round employees work at the establishment, there
is a clear prove that they always intent to operate year round. Although in Bridewell they talk about
120 year round employees, the amount of workers in the Gorges is still substantially significant for the
minor league team operation since they do stadium maintenance, accounting, publicity, and other
administrative task. It could be argued, as mentioned on another case, that a truly seasonal business
which provides year round work for an insignificant number of employees could qualify for the 29
U.S.C S 213 (a)(3) exemption; however, a business that has 120 employees working year round can be
presumed they operate year round. See ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Sets could argue for part (B) that they pass this test because they count their money once the
season starts which leaves them with less than 1/3 of their earnings for the off season. See .....
On the other hand, there are two things that Ortiz could argue against The Sets. First, the defendants
need to show records of their earnings if they want to make a reasonable argument about the whole
income thing. Since the burden of proof is on them, Ortiz has a better chance of winning this part of
the exemption because the defendant has not offered any calculation of the receipts. See Jeffrey.
Secondly, although the Sets do not count the money earn during the offseason as earnings, regardless
of their personal preference, the income needs to be calculated at the moment they make the
transaction. As clarified in Bridewell, the term receipts does not infer that is up to the establishment to
decide when to recode the money as income, but when they actually receive the money. Considering
that 7 months out the year, the Sets hosts games and promote stadium advertisements, part of the
selling activities and transactions happen during the remaining 5 months of the year. For both of this
major points, Ortiz shows a more reasonable argument.
Whether or not each element is perfectly met in each part of the exemption can be open to discussion.

Class and Politics in Renaissance London
When Thomas Middleton and Thomas Dekker wrote their Roaring Girl in 1611, they based it loosely
on Mary Frith, who was frequenting taverns and playhouses in men s clothing in London and had to
appear in front of the court. Moll is the name of half the prostitutes in London and in their play; we
meet Moll Cutpurse, the Roaring Girl. Dekker and Middleton use the unusual girl to criticize the
London society. Moll goes between classes to evaluate the people in London as is shown when she
talks to Sir Thomas and Lord Noland, stating

On the other hand, the writers might show their audience that in order to grow into an expert a thief
was not that different from a university schooled person; both had to spend a long time to learn their
art , the art of thievery and the art of literary work. Moll conveys that to be good at stealing, the person
had to spend a long time of practicing, as well, just as the scholar who spend a lot of time reading and
studying his books. Therefore, a thief is not that different from a person of the upper class, even
though the latter probably looks down upon the rogues.
Moll continues with that comparison when she says that thieves have to study in a book as well, when
the literary rate was probably not that high in the lower class. Yet she says to open the large book / of
his close villainies (5.1.306), as if there was a large book similar to a textbook which would contain all
the secrets of stealing. The secrets are held close to oneself, so a personal relationship is implied as
well. Close might also mean that when people are pertaining in villainies acts, the way back into
respectable society is closed to them. This does not mean only the people whose occupation it is to
steal, because together with the scholarly comparison Moll includes upper class and learned people as
well. In addition, people might be closed minded and see the thieves only as scum of the city, when in
reality there

The Harmful Effects of Second Hand Smoke
An Australian courtroom, November 2002, has banned a mother of a ten year old boy from smoking in
her household (Watts). This is because of the numerous harmful effects that go along with second
hand smoke. The court was protecting the child from these dangers; the mother and grandfather both
admitted to smoking approximately 40 cigarettes everyday (Watts). The ruling was done by the anti
smoking lobby, and was a first for this type of case. The father of the boy brought this case to court
not only because of his concerns for his son, but also because of his son s complaints about the vast

Children exposed to second hand smoke have a higher risk of developing diseases such as asthma,
bronchitis, ear infections, and allergies. For women, second hand smoke increases their risk of heart
attacks (Page). Many say that second hand smoke is more harmful than first hand smoke. This is
because only 15% of smoke is inhaled by smokers; the other 85% is in the air for nonsmokers to
inhale, whether they want to or not (Page). The dangers that result from second hand smoke include:
cancer, asthma, lung infections, emphysema, heart disease, pneumonia, ear infections, strokes, sinus
infections, nose ear and throat discomfort, nausea, headaches and dizziness. Twenty percent of the
population is at risk for obtaining lung disease due to second hand smoke, and for those who live with
a smoker, there is a thirty percent increase of getting lung cancer or heart attacks (Page). Nonsmokers
can even have carcinogens found in their blood. The bottom line remains: when somebody smokes,
everyone around is effected.
. There are two types of second hand smoke, both which cause dangers for those around them. These
types are mainstream smoke and sidestream smoke (Page). Mainstream smoke refers to the smoke
inhaled and exhaled by the smoker. This is most likely the most common type that people are exposed
to. The other type, sidestream smoke, is the smoke that comes from a cigarette or cigar burning from

Moonstone. The Moonstone has made its way into the Verinder House on the night of Rachel Verinder
s eighteenth birthday, and the trouble starts from there. Rachel Verinder and Franklin Blake are two
characters who migrate between being seen as the roles of victims and villains, therefore building up
the mystery and suspense displayed throughout the work. Rachel Verinder is a very unique teenager.

Franklin Blake was a very confusing character for he had his French side, and his German side, and
his Italian side and so forth (Collins 47). His character could fluctuate from being a model of
determination and a spectacle of helplessness in a matter of seconds (Collins 47). He and Rachel were
in love, yet later in the novel they could not bear to look at one another, leaving the reader (and other
characters in the book) to infer that the Moonstone was behind their bickering. There were times when
Mr. Blake was innocent, and others when he appeared guilty. For example, Franklin Blake was
actually seen by Rachel, taking the Indian diamond out from her cabinet in the middle of the night.
You villain, I saw you take the Diamond with my own eyes! Rachel had yelled at Franklin later in the
story. But, the plot twist was that Mr. Blake could remember nothing of taking the diamond. With the
later help of Ezra Jennings, who cleared Franklin Blake of accusations by proving that Franklin took
the Diamond, in a state of trance, produced by opium which had been secretly administered to Blake
by Mr. Candy, an opinionated doctor whom simply wished to prove a point (Collins 354). But there
was still the mystery as to what happened after Franklin Blake took the Diamond up to his room. But
everything came together in the end, when Godfrey Ablewhite was discovered dead in his hotel room

How Fast Charging Is Becoming The Leading Technology
Fast charging is becoming the leading technology used to reenergize electric vehicles in 30 60
minutes. With the ownership of EVs doubling each year, the need to implement efficient, fast charging
infrastructure is progressively increasing. There are two technical approaches to establish fast
charging 1. via a high power, 3 phase AC connection from an AC charging post at the charging station
to an on board high power charger in the EV or 2. via a high power DC connection from a high power
DC charger at the charging station directly to the terminals of the battery in the EV. In this section, we
will review AC level 2, DC/AC level 3 charging stations to improve our knowledge and the design of
our project.

Description of Three Homosexual Potential Veterinarian...
Veterinarians have one of the most diverse roles to play in society. Not only do they participate in
improving the health of animals and ensuring their welfare, they also play an important role in the
lives of humans especially that pertaining to public health and safety. Choosing the optimal candidate
for a veterinary position is therefore a difficult decision. The person must be able to handle all the
differing roles of a veterinarian, not just one or two. When given the choice of three candidates, it may
be a difficult decision for an employer to ethically choose the best candidate to fill the position in the
practice, but it must be done. Ethical considerations for these candidates will be based mostly on
American law with Grenadian law used as well when possible. Before proceeding further with the
discussion, it is necessary to describe the candidates who applied. The first applicant is a veterinarian
who has recently graduated and is well known to the employer as he has spent a lot of time at the
practice. His family is also familiar to the employer. The second candidate is a veterinary specialist
who has possibly participated in self harm activities and is returning from a career break that he took
because he was severely stressed. The last candidate appears to be the perfect choice but his
appearance and attire go against the policy of the practice. All of the candidates are also homosexual.
Before considering the choices an employer must make in order to

1A. Banalization is the trivialization of events so as to lessen their significance the question of power
in the telling of a narrative, in which the point of view is the story being told. Versioning is a stand on

To say that African descended populations and cultures have been erased is not an unreasonable
statement because the moment Africans were enslaved and taken from their home country they were
taught a false history, in which their past was not filled with kingship but with destitution. For
example, in Marcus D. Jones excerpt Africa in Mexico, Jones states, Moreover, like the people of
Coyolillo, the majority of the inhabitants of the coastal communities south of the City of Veracruz
have even forgotten or perhaps were never taught the country s colonial past, when enslaved Africans

they are in fact from African decent. If the people of Mexico were taught of their past it would answer

Decline of Union Membership Essay
Organized labor has seen a long and ever changing history in the United States. What began as
minimal organized labor movement catapulted into astronomical union membership rates as the nation
grew and developed. The intense power unions possessed only lasted so long and in the years since
1970, union membership in the United States has collapsed. This paper will examine the most
significant reasons for the decline in membership. In brief, organizational redesigns, the development
of technology and substantial public policy changes have all contributed to the drop in affiliation rates.
In addition, policy suggestions will be provided in an attempt to support the continuation of the trend.
Much of the research regarding this topic refers to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1913, Congress created the United 3 State Department of Labor as a direct result of pressure from
organized labor (MacLaury). Shortly after the creation of the Department of Labor, the Great
Recession hit the nation. With the depression came an increased unemployment and lesser wages
however significant legislation was also created during that time that impacted union membership.
The most significant law was the Fair Labor Standards Act. Following shortly after this FLSA, the
United States amended the Equal Pay Act and the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Occupations
Health and Safety Act of 1970. Although these acts were supported by the power of unions, these acts
in particular impact union membership which will be discussed later in the paper. It was at this time in
the nation s history that unions began to see a decline in membership. Unions today cast a wide
umbrella of membership and consist of trade unions such as the International Brotherhood of
Electrical Workers and the Laborers International Union of North America to service unions such as
the United Food and Commercial Workers. Although their membership has declined, unions that were
once affiliated with a defined group skilled labor employees now can be found in almost any industry

The Homosexual Identity in Televisions Shows of the 1980s and 1990s Television shows in the 1980s

television icon was unable to fully communicate who she was to her audience. On The Ellen Show,
Ellen Morgan s Degeneres character homosexuality was a taboo not discussed openly. The silencing
of the homosexual identity was a reflection of the society at large.
Clearer thesis needed: What precisely will you argue? In which three ways / subsections?
Firstly, the homosexual identity was considered shameful and meant to be hidden, even denied, in
public. For much of The Ellen Show, Morgan keeps her sexuality hidden from her family and friends.
Morgan from The Ellen Show, hides the truth by not telling men how she truly feels when they

The Media In The Movies
Moving on, zombies and the lower class have an interesting future ahead. According to the essay The
Media in the Movies zombies make their interactions primarily through pop culture and media. Media
is becoming the way of life around most of the world. Nearly everything is now digital and accessible
via an electronic device. This electronic domination can go both ways for zombies as their initial
appeal method of movies may take a hit because less people are heading to movie theaters and are
watching movies and television shows via streaming websites such as Netflix. According to MPPA.org
there has been a steep decline of about five percent in movie theater attendance. This can potentially
hurt the zombie appeal because movies are a huge display point for zombies and having a decline in
movie theater attendance mean less people are watching the zombie brand. On the flip side, it is
beginning to look like zombies are no longer relying on items such as movies but instead focus on
television shows in hopes of expanding the brand. Numerous zombie incorporated television shows
such as The Walking Dead have rapidly gained popularity as these shows are becoming much watch

The first similarity was the depiction of Reynald de Chatillon. His image is the most historically
accurate character of the movie. According to Ibn al Athir, Prince Reynald was one of the greatest and
wickedest of the Franks, the most hostile to the Muslims and the most dangerous to them. As the
movie shows, Reynald had a running rivalry with Saladin, raiding him and even apprehending his
sister in a raid that provoked Saladin s invasion of Jerusalem. Even Christian historians agreed that
Reynald was an evil figure. Another similarity involved the moral character of Balian in the movie and
the actual Balian. In historical accounts, Balian is seen as the Christian who retains his wisdom and
composure leading up to, and even after, the disaster of Hattin. The movie uses him as a template for
an ideal knight, showing his journey to Jerusalem to seek forgiveness for him and his dead wife as an
example of the pure motives of the Crusades. Balian characterizes the medieval ideas of knighthood
and was a revered knight whose standing was equal to that of a king. The Patriarch of Jerusalem
begged him to defend the city against Saladin s impending attack and he was the last defender of
Jerusalem, just like in the movie. According to the online article, Medieval as Modern, Balian s speech
to Saladin at the defense of Jerusalem in the movie Before I lose it, I will burn it to the ground. Your

Trolley Car Problem
The Trolley Car Problem demonstrates the difficulty of using utilitarian ideal as the basis for ethical
action, but in many real world situations, innocent people must be sometimes be sacrificed for the
sake of saving other lives. If you flip the switch you are saving 5 people, rather than not doing
anything and saving only one. Furthermore, all people in this situation are innocent. If you are to flip
the switch only one innocent person would die rather than five innocent people. This means that you
will be killing innocent people either way, so the least casualties possible would be the best outcome.
In addition to my last point, all outcomes of the Trolley Car Problem Result in deaths. This means that
if you flip the switch or not, both actions will have consequences. However, the choice to flip the
switch, only causing one casualty, has lesser consequences. A utilitarian ideal is the most logical
outcome of the Trolley Car Problem. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

How Does The Hobbit Change The World
I have always loved to read. I love to escape from the drama and stress of real life by opening a book

create a world as vivid as the ones in my favorite books. My love for unreal worlds pulled me to
J.R.R. Tolkien s The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. He spent years weaving together different

He used his personal experiences in his fiction, giving everyone who read his books a look into his
past, and into the past of our world. Tolkien showed to those paying attention that his books were not
just frivolous fantasy. If you look to his war experiences, you notice that Bilbo in The Hobbit, like
Tolkien, was torn from his peaceful home and tossed into unfamiliar and dangerous new surroundings.
In The Lord of the Rings, the way Sauron ravages Middle earth is strikingly similar to that of Hitler in
World War II (J.R.R. Tolkien). When reading The Hobbit or The Lord of the Rings, one would
hopefully notice that The Lord of the Rings is much darker than its predecessor. However, The Hobbit
can take on a deeper meaning when one considers that through Bilbo, we are connected to Tolkien s
personal experiences and emotions during war; it s not just a silly children s book. When The Lord of
the Rings is connected to World War II as well, one may realize that all of Tolkien s work is rooted in
our world s history, despite being fantasy (J.R.R. Tolkien). All of his books now have a much deeper
meaning. Now, even in the twenty first century, Tolkien s work is still a favorite among all ages;
maybe it s because of its deeper meaning, or maybe it s just the depth and mystery in his writing.

Rapid Climate Change Events During The Period Between 10ka...
The last glacial period has encountered numerous large magnitude, rapid climate change events;
characterising the period between 10ka and 50ka (Steig, 1999). During this period was the Last
Glacial Maximum (LGM), which occurred approximately 21ka, a glacial period defined by changes in
greenhouse gases, sea level and ice sheets (Otto Bliesner et al., 2006). In comparison the mid
Holocene occurred approximately 6000 years ago, during the current interglacial. The Holocene
period is regarded as relatively muted in terms of signals of climate change, with changes primarily
associated with changes in seasonal solar radiance (Otto Bliesner et al., 2006; Steig, 1999).
Models have been constructed in order to replicate the past climates, with specific reference to The
Community Climate System Model: Version 3 (CCSM3), aimed to define continental scale dynamics,
variability and climate change (Collins et al., 2006). With the use of models the environmental
variation between the LGM and mid Holocene periods can be construed. Roche et al (2007) refers to
the LGM as the classic benchmark for models, enhanced by the use of proxy data associated with
ocean surfaces, vegetation, oceanic circulation and atmospheric conditions.
Clark et al (2009) presented the extent of the LGM, with growth of ice sheets to their maximum extent
occurring between 33ka and 26.5ka; primarily in response to climate forcing from decreases in
northern summer insolation, tropical Pacific sea surface

Christian Faith And The Cross
The cross has over the years in the Christian faith been perceived as the major symbol of faith. This is
manifested by how it is often strewn in churches, people s clothing like t shirts, designed as necklaces,
and even for some, it is placed as tattoos on their bodies. This means that the cross, which was initially
associated with the death of Christ, has today become an image and reminder of hope. That the cross
is the focal image for Christians in the church today is no doubt and it is this perception that has
stimulated debate over the years. For most Christians, the cross is the essential image that brings trust
for the forgiveness of sins and the likelihood of new life. Christ s death on the cross implies that
Christians sins have been managed and that God s ability to pardon sin is prospective. Most people
have drawn such solace from the image of the cross that they will think of it as a source of violence.
Others, on the contrary have raised concerns that the cross has contributed to promoting violence all
through the historical backdrop of the Christian congregation. From Constantine s vision of the cross
during the fourth century, to the campaigns in the Middle Ages, Christians have considered the cross
as a reason for the utilization of military force, mistreatment, and different types of violence. Most
people are expressing their concerns on whether the cross is an intrinsically violent and burdensome

economy changed, and thousands of people were transitioning from rural to urban areas. During this
time, new amendments emerged, like the 18th amendment. The 18th amendment, prohibition, may
have seemed like a positive thing at the time, but it caused countless problems like increased crime
rates, the court system and law enforcement became corrupted, and the making of homemade alcohol
increased. Crime rates, especially in urban areas, rapidly increased once Prohibition began. Crime was
already troublesome with gangs and such then, but with Prohibition crime became even worse, during
the first year of Prohibition the number of crimes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Prohibition affected lots of people s trust, which continues to be true today. The making of homemade
alcohol, also known as bathtub gin or bootleg alcohol, increased during Prohibition. During
prohibition, no one could produce, manufacture, transport, or sell alcohol; so people began making
their own, and it wasn t always the safest thing to drink. People would put any kinds of ingredients in
their bootleg alcohol, bootleg liquor is so concentrated and almost invariably contains other and more
deadly poisons than mere ethyl alcohol. Because no one could produce alcohol, anyone who wanted to
could make their own. Homemade alcohol started becoming increasingly popular, and it resulted in
many deaths because most of the time it was dangerous to ingest. Deaths because of homemade
alcohol started climbing more and more, the death rate from poisoned liquor was appallingly high
throughout the country. In 1925, the national toll was 4,154 as compared to 1,064 in 1920 (Thornton).
Thus, the new trend of homemade alcohol was not a good one. Prohibition influenced this unlawful
behavior, and it resulted in an increase of deaths. The approval of the 18th amendment produced many
problems that could ve been

Master Chief Sunday pays Carl a visit while in the hospital and encourages him to not give up and
they will train together. Two months later, after completing all the difficult tasks Naval Personnel
placed before him, he was reinstated to full diving duty. Carl became the first African American
amputee to be on active Navy diving duty, and be promoted to Master Chief. Carl continued in his
Naval career for another nine years before finally retiring. Personal Reflection Men or Honor is a
movie which offers the viewer a great deal of emotion. Even though I previously watch the movie
some years before, I felt this would be the perfect movie based on our studies. Carl, the main actor in
the movie was determined to succeed in life. Because of his father s confidence and determination,
Carl wanted a better life. Society consistently provides roadblocks for everyone even those with some
type of disability. In each segment of the movie, my feelings bounced between crying and laughing.
Each time Carl was faced with an adversity, I found myself getting mad Critical Thought This week s
discussion dealt with Individuals and Disabilities. Over the years, people who have a disability have
been subjected to prejudice and more. And the first way to diminish someone is through language, by
using words or labels to identify a person as less than, as the others not like us, and so forth. Once a
person has been identified this way, it makes

Internship Benefits For College Students
Introduction:
Having a college degree is no longer enough to ensure that you secure a job upon graduating
(Huhman, 2011). Therefore expanding your college experience through internship opportunities will
not only give you valuable work experience, you can make a significant impact using your skills and
abilities in causes you are passionate about. Increasingly, employers value candidates that have the
academic knowledge, leadership, and technical skills set that can be applied to solving complex
problems in science and industry to addressing world health, environmental, and conflict crises.
Internships offer many advantages to college students. First, it is the best resource to develop the skills
employers seek (Florida International University, 2017). According to the US Department of Labor,
the skills set employers most look for are critical thinking skills, excellent communication skills, and
the ability to work in a team (Occupational Outlook Quaterly, 2016).
Second, internships enable students to apply classroom knowledge to real world problems,
strengthening skills, and acquiring experience that employers seek in a candidate (Florida
International University, 2017). When selecting candidates, employers look at three significant factors,
an applicant s field of study; a high GPA, leadership experience, and experience in their field (NACE,
2016, p. 3). Additionally, internships enable students to work in their chosen career path, giving them

Gloth (collectively, the Substitute Trustees ), appellees. In the foreclosure proceedings, the Substitute
Trustees filed an order to docket a foreclosure with respect to real property located at 3517 Woodstock

Whether the circuit court erred in granting Wells Fargo s motion for judgment awarding possession.

if you do something and it turns out pretty good, then you should go do something else wonderful, not
dwell on it for too long. Just figure out what s next. Summary: This quote by Steve Jobs, cofounder of
Apple, really sticks out in my mind. In my opinion, it talks about egos and work ethics business
workers should have. It is an example people in general should follow. The quote is saying, if you do a
good job on something, like an assignment or a task, you should waste your time seizing the moment
for too long. If you did well on that one thing, you can do something great on something else.
Continue that cycle and you ll do great all the time. Evolution of Importance: This quote explains my
values as a worker and a student perfectly. I am not one to dwell off the good things I have done in the
past, I try to do good things all the time. This way, I do not get arrogant or anything like that. Instead, I

The Egyptian Revolution
The Egyptian Revolution started due to the people s discontent towards the government of Hosni
Mubarak. Grievances of Egyptian protesters were focused on legal and political issues including
police brutality, state of emergency laws, lack of free elections and freedom of speech, corruption, and
economic issues including high unemployment, food price inflation and low wages. Soon after the
overthrown of Mubarak s government Morsi was elected in a democratic way. A coup d état led by the
Minister of defense General Abdel Fattah El Sisi overthrew Morsi and massive popular
demonstrations against military rule started.
Egypt is facing a deep threat to human rights due to violent confrontations between the Egyptian
Government and the revolutionary groups. Navi Pillay has stated her worry about Egyptian people
when in a press communication said: [she] hopes that the rule of law and a system of government that
respects the human rights of all Egyptians men and women can be quickly re established . Several
experts have voiced their concern in regard of the way human rights have been dismissed by several
people; they stated the death poll have raised over 600 including women, young people, and members
of the media. These serious violations of international human rights law must not remain unpunished,
they underscored.
During the Egyptian Revolution the United Nations have had a passive role in which they have not
interact in the most formidable way to approach this conflict.

Analysis Of The Man Who Was Almost A Man By Richard Wright
What does it mean to be a man? This question is an abstract, complex, and profound inquiry into the
essence of manhood that humanity may never truly discover a conclusive understanding. The various
facets that encompass the concept of manhood are numerous, but the often unexplainable connection
amongst power and manhood seems to be a mainstay in the opinions of men regardless of race,
gender, or sexual orientation. In Richard Wright s short story, The Man Who Was Almost a Man ,
Wright addresses the relationship between power and the desire to become a man. Throughout this
literary piece, white men and black men engage in conflicts of power both within their ethnic
communities and across racial groups. However, the aspiration of a young black boy named Dave to
obtain power in order to ascend into manhood is the focal point of this short story. Dave s attempt at
transitioning from a boy to a man is an arduous journey that arguably concludes in failure (Wright, 3
18). Although written to supply Dave a means to achieve power and manhood in a new environment,
the conclusion of The Man Who Was Almost a Man could have been fashioned in an ironic and
heartbreaking manner which would ultimately grant Dave the intangibles he seeks. In this same
thought, composing an alternative ending in which Dave shoots at Mr. Hawkins house accidentally
killing his own father, Bob Saunders, would have further addressed the dynamics surrounding
boyhood and manhood hopefully revealing the

  • 2. Traveling The World, By Mary Anne Radmacher Artist and author Mary Anne Radmacher once said I am not the same having seen the moon shine on the other side of the world. This quote expresses how seeing the world affects you. Two years ago I traveled to Europe with my school and that experience has dramatically changed my perspective on life. Traveling the world made me realize how lucky I am to live in the United States. I have read books that detail the struggles of Holocaust victims. I have even visited a Holocaust museum in Washington, DC but nothing can compare to the sadness I felt when I entered the wrought iron gate of the Dachau concentration camp. This camp is located in Dachau, Germany and served as a prison for Jewish people and prisoners of war during World War II. This ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Spoken Language Essay Explore some of the similarities and differences between the language young people use in their spoken language and how young people communicate on web based communication such as MSN and Facebook. The world has changed greatly over the years. The language has evolved and culture has changed, mostly due to the large increase in the number of people who use mobile phones and social networking sites, such as MSN and Facebook. Especially the younger generation that have developed a new form of communication that s not Standard English which we have called slang . I am going to analyse an MSN conversation between two boys named JJ and Pete and a girl called Kat22 . In this online conversation, the two boys are talking about going to a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... You will find that punctuation is rarely used in most texts and if there is any then it will occur randomly or be over used throughout the conversation because at the end of the day there are no rules to online communication. Consequently, there are lots of concerns about online communication use and its potential dangers. John Humphrys says, It s pillaging our punctuation; savaging our sentences; raping our vocabulary. I agree with him as text speak is slowly taking over our Standard English, more than ever now as nearly everyone has a mobile device. One of the major disadvantages about text speak is that since it is not standard, there are no single spelling for some words and as different people have different texting styles, one might misunderstand the message and feel offended due to this misinterpretation. In addition to this, when people write text messages in text speak, they often lose depth and meaning, sadly people often forget how to write in Standard English using correct, standard spelling and grammar. Also, more and more people are using their mobile phones all the time; this could possibly lead to anxiety as they are constantly checking their phones for any new texts/notifications etc. Texting and typing too much can lead to repetitive stress injury which isn t something that young people should have. Likewise, some teenagers may ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Tibet Imperialism Vincenzo Villeggiante Tibet has had a very long history within and outside of China. For many years, Tibet was its own kingdom, ruling over the plateau for which it is named with full sovereignty. However, Tibet eventually came under the official rule of the Qing dynasty, the Manchu dynasty of China. Within Qing, Tibet retained a very high level of local autonomy, having its own government and many qualities similar to independent countries. In some ways, it didn t even identify as being part of Qing. An example is the time when China was divided into multiple spheres of influence between European powers. The British had enforced a trade law on China, but the Dalai Lama at the time refused to obey, citing Tibet as not part of China. This continued ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Republic of China never attained direct control over Tibet, and so there was a de facto independent Tibetan state. This unofficial and unrecognized country continued to exist for about forty years. During this time, Tibet was controlled by a very conservative people. Refusing to modernize and/or industrialize. When the communist revolution in China occurred, and the former government fled to Taiwan, they would have to face a new threat: the People s Republic of China. The People s Republic claimed that the Tibetan government was exploiting the citizens as serfs, and that they should be liberated from them by none other than the People s Liberation Army. Although Tibet actually had a high resemblance to medieval European feudalism, the government never exploited the citizens per se. When the PLA was at their doorstep, they were nowhere near prepared and were conquered by the Chinese. They were eventually officially annexed into China, and the 14th Dalai Lama was exiled to India. Under the PRC, the Tibetans endured many hardships that were brought upon them. The so called Great Leap Forward led to widespread starvation, and the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution led the Red Army to destroy thousands of cultural artifacts and sites, ... • 5. Collagen IV Collagen IV, the primary constituent of the basement membrane provides stability and structural integrity to epithelial and vascular tissues. Additionally, collagen IV plays a vital role in cell signaling and can be influential in the progression of certain auto immune diseases. Structurally collagen IV is an oligomer of triple helical protomers that are covalently crosslinked by the means of sulfilimine bonds. The bond itself has been evolutionarily conserved and has direct contributions to tissue development as well as autoimmune disease. Given these developments the goal of the research that contributed to this paper was to find the molecular mechanism by which sulfilimine bonds were formed. To do so they employed the use of PFHR 9 cells ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The purpose of Figure 3 to determine the ability of peroxidasin to biochemically catalyze sulfilimine bond formation they expressed and purified human peroxidasin. When reacted with uncrosslinked collagen IV isolates, addition of human peroxidasin led to formation of the dimeric crosslinked substrate at low enzyme to substrate ratios as depicted in figure 3a. To affirm that the theorized mechanism of halogenation for sulfilimine bond formation they tested the ability of peroxidasin to form crosslinks in the absence of halides. As expected minimal crosslinking occurred, and it was supported that crosslinks formed as a result of halogenation. The rest of figure 3 investigates the role of peroxidase in hypohalous acid production specifically; HBr and HCl. Different peroxidases showed preferentiality in which hypohalous acid they formed. If peroxidasin used these acids to form crosslinks, the intermediates should help trigger the reaction when staged in an environment lacking in crosslinks. Isolated Collagen IV with HCL and HBR yielded cross linked subunits. Other peroxidases also formed crosslinks with the exception of lactoperoxidase because it does not efficiently form hypochlorous or hypobromous acid and therefore can ont effectively crosslink. The subsequent figures tested whether peroxidasin catalyzed the formation of the sulfilimine ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This is one of the reasons that high protein, low carbohydrate diets such as the Atkins diet are so popular. The Atkins diet claims that by consuming less carbohydrates, the body will burn fat including body fat to use as fuel. As a cardiologist, Dr. Robert Atkins, the creator of the Atkins diet, claimed this diet was completely safe. However, he does not explain the effects of the diet that go beyond simply weight loss. The Atkins diet can have many negative health effects in the long term. • 8. The Consequences Of Love In Wuthering Heights And A Storm... Love and war are exactly alike. It is lawful to use tricks and slights to obtain a desired end. (Don Quixote. Cervantes. Part II Chapter 21). The spark of love can be compared to that of an actual fire, one constructed slowly with proper materials will have a long lasting flame; one built with improper materials will burn with blitz, or not at all. The consequences of love are always overlooked, as the flame it creates is blinding. Love is the Achilles heel of a character s honour. It s force allows impossible, or forbidden relationships between relatives, opposing personalities or opposing sides. Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet could have never lead a platonic relationship, raised on opposing sides to hate each other; it is the power of love that allowed such a relationship to form. The same goes for characters in Wuthering Heights and A Storm of Swords. It blinds to the consequences of breaking vows and rules, and forsaking honour. In George R.R. Martin s A Storm of Swords, and Emily Brontë s Wuthering Heights, ill fated relationships lead to feuds waged, broken families, and ultimately death, because a vow or rule was broken, thereby demonstrating the immense repercussions of dishonour. In A Storm of Swords, Prince Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark are married to, or betrothed to another. They run off together, dishonouring themselves, their partners, and their houses; leading to war, devastation, and the death of themselves and their families. Rhaegar swore a vow ... Bilingual Education Controversy The Disputation Over Bilingual Education There are many aspects of the United States education system that many people would agree need change or in the minimal improvement. One topic under the education system that has had much controversy since it was first introduced is Bilingual Education. Bilingual Education is the teaching or practice programs of two languages to teach content ranging from kindergarten to high school. Bilingual Education programs vary in levels and languages. Some programs are designed to assimilate non english speakers into the English language, others are meant develop knowledge of a completely different foreign language. Equally the goal proficiency of the language varies drastically. Some programs are meant to teach students the basic understandings of the language in oder to write and speak it adequately and others are meant to allow the student to reach a fluency level. One of the most popular type of program would be a Spanish and English program since Spanish is the second most spoken language in the United States. The most common type if bilingual program is intended to transition native Spanish speakers into the English language; this is way of helping kids assimilate into the American culture. Furthermore, Marty must also have his parents fall in love after mistakenly changing the course of time. Everyone has the freedom of choice, both male and female, so therefore there are both male and female methods of contraception. There is an expansive range of contraception methods world wide, and they can be as extreme as being operated on, such as having a tubal ligation or a vasectomy. The more minor options are using condoms or taking a type of contraceptive pill. Respect for women s rights to reproduce self determination also requires governments to ensure that women give their full, informed consent before receiving a contraceptive method. Government policies that disregard a women s own wishes in order to meet demographic goals put women in danger of coercive and violent practices. Subjecting women to surgical sterilization or administering contraceptive injections or implants without her informed consent, for example, violates women s fundamental reproductive rights. • 13. A Summary Of The Short-A Short Story The rusty, scarlet gear of Jimmy s clock starts to turn as usual on this crisp autumn morning. Although school was out on this particular Sunday in 1945, the ringing of his clock began at six o clock and lasted until the drowsy boy could lift his rawboned hands. The crimson colored cotton blanket was tiredly kicked off by his scrawny foot. His light skin was soon met with a chilling breeze that gave shivers down the boys four foot seven frame. The undersized pin house was lively and sprawling with activity for such an early morning as Jimmy wandered for breakfast. The stairs screamed out as he walked them, just like it had done thousands of times, although he still gets frightened from the ear piercing noise. Alfred, the family dog, greets Jimmy as he steps out into to house s main room. The lab s cinnamon fluff completely shields his hefty body, making it almost hopeless to find even his eyes, which lay camouflage beneath the wool. Mama had already fried the eggs and bacon and poured milk for three. The Blou family had lost their only daughter, Tina, from Influenza only a year before. The family still breaks down at the thought of her, but they have become better in recent months. After devouring the homemade breakfast, the Blou s split apart to do their given tasks. Papa and Jimmy are assigned to work at the fields while Mama stays indoors except for the occasional visit outside to the men. Although it s a routine morning for the Blou s, something was different, at least Jimmy could feel it. Just as Jimmy reaches for his trusty hoe, an alarm beckons over the entire eighty seven acres of Little Rock farmland. After the alarm sounded, the family gathered at the house. What s happening Mama? questioned Jimmy, unsure if he should be worried. Don t be scared, Jimmy. Everything is just fine, assured Mama, although Jimmy knew something was wrong. Jimmy watched as his father rushed into their bedroom and return only moments later with three bags already packed, one for each of them. • 14. Elements Of Criticism In Flowers In The Attic In V.C. Andrews novel, Flowers in the Attic, the elements of classic Gothic literature are present in profuse quantity, relating directly to the ideologies outlined in Noël Carroll s The Philosophy of Horror, or, Paradoxes of the Heart. Andrew s novel dements the ideologies of a late twentieth century America, directing her focus towards the perversion of the family unit through her incorporation of incestuous relationships and inconceivable familial abuse. The characters draw heavily on Carroll s ideas of the forbidden, staunchly disrupting social normality, and layering the pages of the novel with an unspoken horror. Flowers in the Attic deeply embraces the tradition of the Gothic, proving itself a contemporary to the genre established ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Why does Andrews choose such controversial depictions? In a culture so centered on Christian fundamentals, as that of the American society, Cathy s loss of innocence by the hands of her brother reveals a horror unbeknownst to many. The depiction of incest is a strong one, and Andrews seeks a thrill factor in the forbidden. The scene is graphic, violent, and outrageous to most readers, setting a very strong precedence for horror, a key factor in the creation of the Gothic. Throughout the pages, Cathy also becomes a representation of the Enlightenment, juxtaposed against the stark religious beliefs of her estranged family. The children suffer horrendous abuse and torment under their grandmother s care, from bloody lashings to starvation. The abuse calls upon a more primal instinct in Cathy, and she begins to find herself distanced from religion. By the end of the novel, she takes matters away from God and into her own hands: This was to be our last day in prison. God would not deliver us, we would deliver ourselves (Andrews 377). Her rationality outweighs her faith as Cathy realizes the only way out of the attic is by their own motivation, rebelling against the religious obedience they were forced into during their years locked away. In the ways of the Gothic, it challenges the repressive norms of religious subservience, and to Carroll s accounts, it allows the opportunity for thoughts and desires outside the culture s notions of acceptability to take ... Unlike la Belle Dame she does not the man to loiter . Madeline does have this temptress value, which is shown as Porphyro accuses her of being a Belle Dame Sans Mercy when she will not wake. But the contrast is that Madeline does not know this and does this unintentionally. Keats describes la Belle Dame Sans Merci with an admiration. It is almost as if he is the man in the poem. It seems this way because it is a narrative poem. The poem tells a story, in a conversational way. Ah what can ail thee the first line asks. Then Keats proceeds to tell the story. Keats shows man as weak in this poem, love as a disability. We are shown how this man is overcome by emotion as he is left palely loitering in case la Belle Dame returns. In Keats s extract from The Eve of Saint Agnes he describes her as a figure of beauty. This time it is portrayed as genuine and deep as Madeline is not aware of an audience. Furthermore, Assuming That The Gorges’ Fifteen Year-Round Furthermore, assuming that the Gorges fifteen year round employees work at the establishment, there is a clear prove that they always intent to operate year round. Although in Bridewell they talk about 120 year round employees, the amount of workers in the Gorges is still substantially significant for the minor league team operation since they do stadium maintenance, accounting, publicity, and other administrative task. It could be argued, as mentioned on another case, that a truly seasonal business which provides year round work for an insignificant number of employees could qualify for the 29 U.S.C S 213 (a)(3) exemption; however, a business that has 120 employees working year round can be presumed they operate year round. See ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Sets could argue for part (B) that they pass this test because they count their money once the season starts which leaves them with less than 1/3 of their earnings for the off season. See ..... On the other hand, there are two things that Ortiz could argue against The Sets. First, the defendants need to show records of their earnings if they want to make a reasonable argument about the whole income thing. Since the burden of proof is on them, Ortiz has a better chance of winning this part of the exemption because the defendant has not offered any calculation of the receipts. See Jeffrey. Secondly, although the Sets do not count the money earn during the offseason as earnings, regardless of their personal preference, the income needs to be calculated at the moment they make the transaction. As clarified in Bridewell, the term receipts does not infer that is up to the establishment to decide when to recode the money as income, but when they actually receive the money. Considering that 7 months out the year, the Sets hosts games and promote stadium advertisements, part of the selling activities and transactions happen during the remaining 5 months of the year. For both of this major points, Ortiz shows a more reasonable argument. Whether or not each element is perfectly met in each part of the exemption can be open to discussion. More ... Class and Politics in Renaissance London When Thomas Middleton and Thomas Dekker wrote their Roaring Girl in 1611, they based it loosely on Mary Frith, who was frequenting taverns and playhouses in men s clothing in London and had to appear in front of the court. Moll is the name of half the prostitutes in London and in their play; we meet Moll Cutpurse, the Roaring Girl. Dekker and Middleton use the unusual girl to criticize the London society. Moll goes between classes to evaluate the people in London as is shown when she talks to Sir Thomas and Lord Noland, stating When next, my lord, you spy any of one of those, So he be in his art a scholar, question him, Tempt him with gold to open the large book Of his close villainies; and you yourself shall cant Better than poor ... On the other hand, the writers might show their audience that in order to grow into an expert a thief was not that different from a university schooled person; both had to spend a long time to learn their art , the art of thievery and the art of literary work. Moll conveys that to be good at stealing, the person had to spend a long time of practicing, as well, just as the scholar who spend a lot of time reading and studying his books. Therefore, a thief is not that different from a person of the upper class, even though the latter probably looks down upon the rogues. Moll continues with that comparison when she says that thieves have to study in a book as well, when the literary rate was probably not that high in the lower class. Yet she says to open the large book / of his close villainies (5.1.306), as if there was a large book similar to a textbook which would contain all the secrets of stealing. The secrets are held close to oneself, so a personal relationship is implied as well. Close might also mean that when people are pertaining in villainies acts, the way back into respectable society is closed to them. The Moonstone Character Analysis Essay Mila Selmic 9th AH English I Bordelon August 12, 2015 Two Faced Characters: The Moonstone Mystery is the key for interesting characters and therefore an interesting story. The Moonstone, a novel written by Wilkie Collins, follows the mystery of an ancient Indian diamond, known as the Moonstone. The Moonstone has made its way into the Verinder House on the night of Rachel Verinder s eighteenth birthday, and the trouble starts from there. Rachel Verinder and Franklin Blake are two characters who migrate between being seen as the roles of victims and villains, therefore building up the mystery and suspense displayed throughout the work. Franklin Blake was a very confusing character for he had his French side, and his German side, and his Italian side and so forth (Collins 47). His character could fluctuate from being a model of determination and a spectacle of helplessness in a matter of seconds (Collins 47). He and Rachel were in love, yet later in the novel they could not bear to look at one another, leaving the reader (and other characters in the book) to infer that the Moonstone was behind their bickering. There were times when Mr. Blake was innocent, and others when he appeared guilty. For example, Franklin Blake was actually seen by Rachel, taking the Indian diamond out from her cabinet in the middle of the night. You villain, I saw you take the Diamond with my own eyes! Rachel had yelled at Franklin later in the story. But, the plot twist was that Mr. Blake could remember nothing of taking the diamond. With the later help of Ezra Jennings, who cleared Franklin Blake of accusations by proving that Franklin took the Diamond, in a state of trance, produced by opium which had been secretly administered to Blake by Mr. Candy, an opinionated doctor whom simply wished to prove a point (Collins 354). But there was still the mystery as to what happened after Franklin Blake took the Diamond up to his room. Not only do they participate in improving the health of animals and ensuring their welfare, they also play an important role in the lives of humans especially that pertaining to public health and safety. Choosing the optimal candidate for a veterinary position is therefore a difficult decision. The person must be able to handle all the differing roles of a veterinarian, not just one or two. When given the choice of three candidates, it may be a difficult decision for an employer to ethically choose the best candidate to fill the position in the practice, but it must be done. Ethical considerations for these candidates will be based mostly on American law with Grenadian law used as well when possible. Before proceeding further with the discussion, it is necessary to describe the candidates who applied. The first applicant is a veterinarian who has recently graduated and is well known to the employer as he has spent a lot of time at the practice. His family is also familiar to the employer. The second candidate is a veterinary specialist who has possibly participated in self harm activities and is returning from a career break that he took because he was severely stressed. According to the essay The Media in the Movies zombies make their interactions primarily through pop culture and media. Media is becoming the way of life around most of the world. Nearly everything is now digital and accessible via an electronic device. This electronic domination can go both ways for zombies as their initial appeal method of movies may take a hit because less people are heading to movie theaters and are watching movies and television shows via streaming websites such as Netflix. According to MPPA.org there has been a steep decline of about five percent in movie theater attendance. As the movie shows, Reynald had a running rivalry with Saladin, raiding him and even apprehending his sister in a raid that provoked Saladin s invasion of Jerusalem. Even Christian historians agreed that Reynald was an evil figure. Another similarity involved the moral character of Balian in the movie and the actual Balian. The last glacial period has encountered numerous large magnitude, rapid climate change events; characterising the period between 10ka and 50ka (Steig, 1999). During this period was the Last Glacial Maximum (LGM), which occurred approximately 21ka, a glacial period defined by changes in greenhouse gases, sea level and ice sheets (Otto Bliesner et al., 2006). In comparison the mid Holocene occurred approximately 6000 years ago, during the current interglacial. The Holocene period is regarded as relatively muted in terms of signals of climate change, with changes primarily associated with changes in seasonal solar radiance (Otto Bliesner et al., 2006; Steig, 1999). Models have been constructed in order to replicate the past climates, with specific reference to The Community Climate System Model: Version 3 (CCSM3), aimed to define continental scale dynamics, variability and climate change (Collins et al., 2006). With the use of models the environmental variation between the LGM and mid Holocene periods can be construed. Roche et al (2007) refers to the LGM as the classic benchmark for models, enhanced by the use of proxy data associated with ocean surfaces, vegetation, oceanic circulation and atmospheric conditions. Clark et al (2009) presented the extent of the LGM, with growth of ice sheets to their maximum extent occurring between 33ka and 26.5ka; primarily in response to climate forcing from decreases in northern summer insolation, tropical Pacific sea surface ... • 40. Christian Faith And The Cross The cross has over the years in the Christian faith been perceived as the major symbol of faith. This is manifested by how it is often strewn in churches, people s clothing like t shirts, designed as necklaces, and even for some, it is placed as tattoos on their bodies. This means that the cross, which was initially associated with the death of Christ, has today become an image and reminder of hope. That the cross is the focal image for Christians in the church today is no doubt and it is this perception that has stimulated debate over the years. For most Christians, the cross is the essential image that brings trust for the forgiveness of sins and the likelihood of new life. Christ s death on the cross implies that Christians sins have been managed and that God s ability to pardon sin is prospective. Most people have drawn such solace from the image of the cross that they will think of it as a source of violence. Others, on the contrary have raised concerns that the cross has contributed to promoting violence all through the historical backdrop of the Christian congregation. From Constantine s vision of the cross during the fourth century, to the campaigns in the Middle Ages, Christians have considered the cross as a reason for the utilization of military force, mistreatment, and different types of violence. Most people are expressing their concerns on whether the cross is an intrinsically violent and burdensome image, responsible for the misuse and violence not just ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The making of homemade alcohol, also known as bathtub gin or bootleg alcohol, increased during Prohibition. People would put any kinds of ingredients in their bootleg alcohol, bootleg liquor is so concentrated and almost invariably contains other and more deadly poisons than mere ethyl alcohol. Because no one could produce alcohol, anyone who wanted to could make their own. In 1925, the national toll was 4,154 as compared to 1,064 in 1920 (Thornton). Thus, the new trend of homemade alcohol was not a good one. Just figure out what s next. Summary: This quote by Steve Jobs, cofounder of Apple, really sticks out in my mind. In my opinion, it talks about egos and work ethics business workers should have. It is an example people in general should follow. The quote is saying, if you do a good job on something, like an assignment or a task, you should waste your time seizing the moment for too long. If you did well on that one thing, you can do something great on something else. Continue that cycle and you ll do great all the time. Evolution of Importance: This quote explains my values as a worker and a student perfectly. I am not one to dwell off the good things I have done in the past, I try to do good things all the time. This way, I do not get arrogant or anything like that. Instead, I continue to keep up the good work and become a better student or worker. That is the most important thing. Muccino, G. • 49. Analysis Of The Man Who Was Almost A Man By Richard Wright What does it mean to be a man? This question is an abstract, complex, and profound inquiry into the essence of manhood that humanity may never truly discover a conclusive understanding. The various facets that encompass the concept of manhood are numerous, but the often unexplainable connection amongst power and manhood seems to be a mainstay in the opinions of men regardless of race, gender, or sexual orientation. In Richard Wright s short story, The Man Who Was Almost a Man , Wright addresses the relationship between power and the desire to become a man. Throughout this literary piece, white men and black men engage in conflicts of power both within their ethnic communities and across racial groups. However, the aspiration of a young black boy named Dave to obtain power in order to ascend into manhood is the focal point of this short story. Dave s attempt at transitioning from a boy to a man is an arduous journey that arguably concludes in failure (Wright, 3 18). Although written to supply Dave a means to achieve power and manhood in a new environment, the conclusion of The Man Who Was Almost a Man could have been fashioned in an ironic and heartbreaking manner which would ultimately grant Dave the intangibles he seeks. In this same thought, composing an alternative ending in which Dave shoots at Mr. Hawkins house accidentally killing his own father, Bob Saunders, would have further addressed the dynamics surrounding boyhood and manhood hopefully revealing the ...
