Underage Tanning Law
Many teens today feel pressured to live up to society s standards. They believe that perfect hair,
flawless makeup, designer clothes, and bronze skin is required. This is where tanning beds
come into play. About 29.5 percent of teenagers use indoor tanning devices. (Health Day News).
However, is the warm, golden glow going to be achievable any more? State Representatives are
considering new restrictions, and changing existing laws, in regards to teen tanning. These new
commands will ban teens from tanning. Are these bills acceptable? Are they needed? The Senate
and Assembly of New York agreed to ban teens ages 16 years and younger from tanning beds
(Precious). Lawmakers in New Jersey are adding new rules to teen tanning; no one can tan under
the age of 17. (N.J. Bans Minors from Tanning Beds). Therefore, teen tanning bed use is a very
controversial topic.
Have you ever felt the false sense of security that [you] may not feel under direct sunlight from a
tanning bed (Jeffrey)? Your body relaxes, you feel serene, and you get a golden glow. Some teens
strive for this feeling...and the tan. Tanning is the skin s response to injury, according to Arielle
Kauvar, M. D. The exposure of UV rays over time can cause skin cancer. Skin cancer is the growth

most dangerous type of skin cancer, can come from UV rays. From 1998 2008, the number of

Explain What Is Wrong
Ashley Kelley Miss Roth H English pd. 4 24 March 2017 Is it Right? Is it Wrong? Morals and
values are the basis of all human decisions and knowledge. Every person s morals are different
from one another and can be used to define what is right and what is wrong in their own eyes.
Values are used as a personal translator that explains another person s behavior or beliefs to a
different individual. When people focus on both morals and values that have been set by them, they
see everything with a limited view, but take in more about what they learn. People create and set
personal values and morals based off of knowledge and understanding of the world and people
around them, past experiences that they themselves have gone through, and the personality... Show

Experiences as children can shape people s brain and affect what is seen as right or wrong.
Values are acquired in childhood and manifest themselves in our campuses as permanent
perceptions that shape and influence the nature of our behaviors (Chmielewski n.p.). As a child,
that person is still developing and maturing both mentally and physically, so the values and
morals the child learns are applied to their lives and are held onto. In a world that is constantly
growing and developing, it is important for youths to hold onto morals taught to them in their
childhood (George 4). Adults also need to hold onto these morals to help youths to learn and
grasp their own personal morals. Values involve emotion, knowledge, thought, and ultimately
choice and response ( The Factors of Personality Traits n.p.). The knowledge that people gain is
gained from experience and is taken in over time. Interactions and experience can change and
affect a person s development and beliefs ( The Factors of Personality Traits n.p.). A person s past
and experiences can affect what morals are set by them and how they view the world and

Tam Lin Relationship Analysis
From Blackstock to Nowhere: Relationships and Power Dynamics in Two Retellings of the Ballad
of Tam Lin The Scottish folk ballad Tam Lin is a very popular ballad which has inspired many
contemporary writers and artists to create their own retellings and reinterpretations. Fire and
Hemlock by Diana Wynne Jones and Tam Linby Pamela Dean are two of these retellings. In these
novels, Jones and Dean have masterfully brought the events and characters of the traditional ballad
into the modern world. Although both novels have drawn from the same source there are a number
of distinct differences between the two, especially when it comes to the relationship between their
Janet and Tam Lin characters (Polly Whittacker and Tom Lynn in Fire and Hemlock
, and Janet
Carter and Thomas Lane in Tam Lin), and the balance of power between them throughout the
narrative. While Jones novel is very much centered around the idea of Tam Lin being one of the
rare few folk ballads or tales with a female hero and is structured as such to give Polly a position
of power and equality in the relationship by the end, Dean seems to approach her retelling of the
ballad from a different direction, questioning whether Janet really is as empowered by her role as
the hero as it may seem at first. In both novels, the first meeting between the Janet and Tam Lin
characters sets a strong base for their initial relationship, especially regarding the power dynamics
within that relationship. In the ballad of Tam

Types Of Whole Life Insurance
Types of Whole Life Insurance
As I mentioned a few paragraphs ago, I m using whole life as a blanket term for an entire
category of insurance products, which some agents refer to as permanent life or universal life. I
like the term whole because it fits well with my approach to investing, which is, if I may be
permitted the phrase, holistic. I m concerned with all of you your mind, your emotions, and your
overall state of being. In the following section, I ll review the fundamental characteristics of this
class of insurance products, then briefly discuss some of the variations therein.
Basic Facets of Whole Life Insurance:
Fixed Premiums: With some notable exceptions, your premium is set when you buy the policy, and
will not change ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Participating and Participating Whole Life: Participating and Participating Whole Life policies are
special types of permanent life insurance policies wherein the policy holder is paid a regular
dividend from the insurance company, similar to that which a stockholder might receive. These
dividends can be used to pay policy premiums, they can be redirected into the investment portion
of the policy, or they can simply be kept the policy holder decides how he or she wants to use
them. Participating and Participating Whole Life policies are generally less complex than universal
policies, since the premiums are almost always fixed. With variable and participating policies, the
death benefit may grow or shrink, but there is almost always a guaranteed minimum payout.
TIP: The ins and outs of universal and whole plans are very complex, and need no, MUST be
discussed with a qualified life insurance agent.
Comparison of Investments
By now I hope you re convinced about the value of whole life insurance as investment tool. The
proper use of a whole life policy can put you on a path to financial security and wealth creation.
But in case you aren t convinced yet, I ll take a moment to compare an investment in a whole life
policy with other investments. I m going to keep it simple, though. I don t want to throw a bunch of
numbers at you and talk about

Internal Conflict In Macbeth s Soliloquy
Act 1 Scene 7: Macbeth s Old Versus Modernized Soliloquy
Both Macbeth s soliloquy and the modernized Macbeth soliloquy fall under the greater theme of
internal conflict. In Macbeth s soliloquy, Macbeth contemplates whether or not he should kill King
Duncan. He says his ambition makes him want to assassin the King if the plan would work
smoothly, yet he is indecisive and cannot bring himself to action as Duncan is a trustworthy man
and Macbeth should not harm such a man. Likewise, in the modernized soliloquy, the singer
named Mac Beth Glamis wants to sabotage a dancer (Isadora Duncan) who is competing in the
same competition as her, however Mac Beth debates if she should sabotage a beautiful dancer who
trusts her. Both soliloquies are similar

Compare And Contrast Zeus And Taurus
In my humble opinion, all of the constellations are beautiful. But none of the constellations
attract me more than the Gemini constellation. I wish I had an elaborate story as to why i m so
attracted to the Gemini constellation, but truth be told, Gemini is my favorite because i m a
Gemini! The Gemini constellation was first discovered by Ptolemy, a 2nd century AD
astronomer. Gemini means Twins in Latin. Without a telescope, it is made up of 85 visible
stars. The bordering constellations are Lynx, Auriga, Taurus, Orion, Monoceros, Canis Minor,
and Cancer. The myth that belongs to the Gemini constellation goes a little something like this.
There once were two twin brothers named Castor and Pollux, together known as Dioskouri.
Their mother s name was Leda, but there were two fathers. Castor s dad was Tyndareus, the king
of Sparta, and Pollux s dad was Zeus, father of God s and men. Leda was married to Tyndareus, but
was seduced by Zeus. Castor and Pollux were very close. One day Castor was killed, and since he
wasn t Zeus s son, he wasn t immortal. Pollux asked his father if he could share his immortality with

Daylight Saving Time Research Paper
How to explain the concept of Daylight Saving to your kids? When spring approaches, the clock
turns back 1 hour, and when Fall approaches the clock turns ahead 1 hour. Performing this ritual
twice a year in front of your kids can confuse them as they may have many questions. Although
the process of explaining Daylight Savings Time seems a bit challenging for a child to

can get the point across in a simple way. Helping your child learn about the concept of Daylight

Candidates And Policy Of The United States Senate Elections
The names of the authors that wrote an article titled Candidates and Policy in the United States
Senate Elections are Gerald C. Wright and Michael B. Berkman. Although the previous literature on
the subject suggests, that policy is not a major factor in the decision making process, the article
argued otherwise.
It is a known fact that a substantial policy difference between the candidates in a particular race
exists. Policymakers write specific policies for the future and an election determines who will
write the policies, which decides the policy. The ideological characteristics of a state and a
candidate for a political office has a positive correlation. Conservative states or districts have
conservative candidates regardless of party affiliation. Meanwhile, liberal states or districts have
liberal candidates regardless of party affiliation.
Besides, the performance of the economy and of the president, assuming that the president and the
candidate share the same party, affects the chances of the candidates. This is evident in almost all
midterm elections in the modern era. If a president (Democratic President Obama) has perceived as
not doing a good job and has a low approval rating (the mid 40s throughout much of his presidency),
then congressional candidates in the midterm elections are not in their best position. Accordingly,
Democrats lost the House of Representatives and some seats in the United States Senate in the 2010
midterm election. The Democratic Party lost the

Figurative Language Used In The Beauty Poem Analysis
5. There are many poetic devices and figurative language used in both poems. In the innocence
poem the Nurse s song we see a metaphor when the nurse says, My heart is at rest within my breast
, meaning that the nurse is content and filled with peace and joy while watching the children at
play. Imagery and symbolism is used in both poems with the color greenwhich associates with
growth, fertility and spring. (Represent places of play and freedom) Also, in the Innocence
poem, imagery is used when said, Besides in the sky, the little birds fly and the hills are all
covered with sheep . These creatures are gentle just like the children are and the birds in particular
are symbolic of freedom. In the experiencepoem the word night , metaphorically represents danger
and sadness. (completely opposite of the innocence where light was used to positively portray the
children). In the experience poem the Nanny makes a metaphor when she says, My face turns
green and pale , the notes on the back of the book explain how this means that the Nurse is a sex
starved spinster. Meaningthat she is a woman who did not experience a happy youth, and who is
sick for the longings of experience, and who is maybe jealous of the children. The poetic devices
and figurative language impact the whole meaning of the poem completely, because without the
multiple metaphors and imagery used I would of never of guessed that the Nurses green and pale
face meant what it meant. (made the poems come together

Comparing The Elves And The Invisible Clothing
If you ask a child in America about The Elves and the Shoemaker, The Little Red Hen, Little Red
Riding Hood, Goldilocks and the Three Beds, or The Emperor s New Clothes, they would be
able to recount the story without much trouble, as these are simple stories with entertaining
hijacks. These are folklores that are read aloud in a kindergarten class, or for bedtime stories, yet
not animated like Cinderella, or Sleeping Beauty. These stories are even referenced in television
series, such as Super Why!, a children s series about altering books to end up with a better
outcome. Some of these stories were developed in other regions, and they are altered to fit with the
community s values and thoughts, and this can be seen when comparing The Emperor s New

of the movies contrast, and will be further explained through the essay. Firstly, commitment in both

Both movies took place in completely different times. In Bend it Like Beckham, the movie took
place in modern time. Whereas, The Notebook setting was in the 1940s. The contrast is the way
of thinking, from the different eras. In Bend it Like Beckham, Jess and Jules are allowed to
achieve their dreams freely because of the society that they live in. The society in the movie has
an understanding where, Everyone should have a chance to take advantage of their talents to
pursue their dreams, (King, 2011). In The Notebook, Allie had to go to school to become a

However, her true passion was to be a painter and she did not fulfil that dream until the end of the
movie. Which she couldn t have done without Noah, . A quote from Allie in the movie, I love to
paint. Most of the time I have all these thoughts bouncin around in my head... but with a brush in
my hand, the world just gets kinda quiet, (Character, n.d). The society in this movie, are seemed to
be stereotypical narrow minded people, that believed things are supposed to be one way and
nothing can change that. The eras of the movies contrasts the open mindedness of these societies.

Cleopatra s dream has received minimal critical attention in the canon of Shakespearean
scholarship and is completely overlooked even among the appreciations I like best (Harold
Bloom s and Camille Paglia s), a curious fate for a passage that forces us to reprocess not only
the Egyptian queen but her rambling, indigestible play as well. Difficulty isn t the problem; these
critics foci are comparatively subtler and practically impervious to unspecialized contemplation.
How to explain, then, the agonizing struggle, especially at this crucial moment in the play, evinced
by many of the best and most illustrious actresses of stage and screen who have braved the role?
Perhaps the critic who expects nay, hopes that our most gifted actors will also necessarily be good
or even merely adequate readers is dreaming. But to misunderstand Cleopatra s dream is to
misunderstand Cleopatra; no serious, earnest interpreter of the part can botch this passage. (An
impromptu recitation by Helen Mirren uploaded to Youtube proves the point: she purrs the lines
warmly, flirtatiously, stuck as she is in the kittenish register that has, by now, become the default
interpretation among Cleopatra s most flagrant misreaders. Mirren refuses to modulate; she doesn t
understand that Cleopatra must mature in the span of these twenty lines or else the play capsizes.)

Essay about Interwar Avant-Garde Artwork And Its Community...
The art and life aspects of the interwar avant garde are an advanced socially trivial form of art
which to a bigger extent is symbolic of the visual setting of the human community. It is the art of
expressionism in any artistic work which greatly influence its adaptation by the target audience. It
has been evidently claimed that most artistic works of the early twentieth century have had a
number of varied themes all encompassing the political environment of the time. The interwar avant

It is to be noted and comprehended that such aspects need not to be typically true but should in their
presentation give the impression of reality or highly probability. It was such advanced
expressionism that greatly influenced military professionals while at war during the early twentieth
century.
It is also noted that avant grades gesture generally carries with it the notion of judgment on
actions that are considered shocking. Many modern society artworks are rarely acted without
incidences of bloody conflicts. This is particularly evidently witnessed in the warfare framed
artworks. It is the art of expressing irresponsibility and might I add chaotic revolution within a
movie or a working medium that makes the piece of art a truly unique masterpiece. It has

visual modernity rather than an expression of the ultimate reality in the society. It is by involving
exaggerative acts in a movie that assimilation of the intended social aspect is easily realized.
Artworks must be appealing to the eyes of the audience. It is only from the visual appearance of the

brought in art by the use of choking notion of judgment is what keeps the audience watching to find

Check In Narrative
The car slowly crept down the long gravel road. I turned my head and saw a line of tree s
following behind and above us as we went. The end of the road was only a few feet away, and
when we got there, the sun lit up the inside of the car like a chrismas tree. In front of us, a
parking lot with a large building in the middle. As we drove up and parked, I read a sign on the
building. The sign read Check In . My parents walked into the building and left me and my sister,
who was only paying attention to her phone. The new campsite was big, and outside the sites, was
a pool with a huge playground next to it. I got out, followed by my sister, and met our friend who
was already there. We ran to the swings and jumped on. We sat there until my parents

The Meanings of Madame Bovary Essay
The Meanings of Madame Bovary
Madame Bovary is the portrait of a woman trapped in an unsatisfactory marriage in a prosaic
bourgeois town. Her attempts to escape the monotony of her life through adulterous liaisons with
other men are ultimately thwarted by the reality that the men she has chosen are shallow and self
centered and that she has overstretched herself financially. In despair, Emma resolves her
predicament by taking her own life.
What should we make of this rather slight story, initially based on the life of a real woman who,
like Emma, scandalized her village with her affairs with other men and her extravagant lifestyle?
Is there a lesson or a moral to be drawn from Emma s folly and the tragedy of her death? Part ...

The challenge today s readers are left with is how to make sense of Emma s story.
A common interpretation of the novel maintains that Emma Bovary s downfall is due to the fact
that she is both foolish and romantically inclined. Emma comes to a tragic end because she has
been self dramatizing and impulsive and, above all, because she has believed in the ideals of the
Romantic literature of which she has been an avid consumer since adolescence. This is the view
adopted by many critics who have viewed Emma as mediocre and trite, her dreams shoddy, second
hand and second rate. The literary critic Allen Tate, for example, described Emma as a `silly, sad
and hysterical woman
(quoted in Brombert: 1966, p.84). For further discussion of this reading click on Emma: Victim

of epic proportions whose ideals are thwarted by a petty and money grabbing society. The poet
and critic Charles Baudelaire, however, saw Emma as a heroic creation and described her as
`trГЁs sublime dans son espГЁce, dans son petit milieu et en face de son petit horizon (Baudelaire:
1976, p.83). She is a truly epic heroine in thrall to an excessive but splendid passion. She has heroic

Myth Of The Aztecs
A diminutive tribe called the Aztecs strolled around northwestern Mexico up until AD 1116. As
claimed by one legend, the Aztec god of the sun and war, Huitzilopochtli, ordered their people to
advance south until they found a new everlasting home. He said that their new home would be
marked with a discernible indication. The sign was an eagle on a cactus with a snake in his
mouth. It took the tribe more than a hundred years of searching. Finally, a priest found the sign in
the Valley of Mexico. However, other people already lived there. They didn t want to allocate their
domain with the Aztecs. So, the Aztecs were stuck with the swamp like area surrounding Lake

Social Expectations Of Women In Dracula
Women and Sex in Bram Stoker s Dracula
The novel Dracula, written by Bram Stoker, is a very dark and gothic story that has many
themes. Although the most controversial theme throughout the story is Stokers opinion on
women during the Victorian era. The novel was written in 1897, a time where chastity, and
etiquette were expected to be demonstrated by every model citizen. However there was a huge
controversial issue during that time about women. More specifically the social expectations of
women. Women during the Victorian era women were expected to behave appropriately to social
standards at all times, especially around men. Although there was a large majority that supported
the idea of The New Woman , which was a term for a new type of women. One where the social
expectations of women were completely disregarded as they felt they had constrictions with these
social expectations and preferred to be shown as equals. This idea of The New Woman is shown in
the story Dracula and the author, Bram Stoker, uses the characters and their unfortunate situations
to express his opinion on this new concept: The New Woman.
The New Woman was an idea in the Victorian era that proposed women should not have to follow
certain social standards. In an article by Carol A. Senf she explains that The New Woman had
certain characteristics that went against the social standard. The New Woman was often a
professional woman who chose financial independence and personal fulfilment

Unequal Distribution of Wealth Essay
First and foremost, Adam Smith was very conscious of how the wealth was unequally distributed
amongst the poor versus the wealthy, and how and if this distribution continued it would leave the
poor at a disadvantage, in the sense they will never have the opportunity to move ahead and will
always be at the mercy of those who possessed more wealth. Mr. Smith viewed economics
contrarily than the mercantilist. Compared to the days of old, the views of economics and
mercantilism based wealth on the amount of gold and silver the nation provided, and how the
import of goods from other countries would adversely affect the wealth of a country, as the reality
was, trade was notably one sided, it only benefited the seller and not the buyer, and it... Show more

Smith s invisible hand most certainly distributed wealth unequally. His belief; was derived by the
thought of unequal distribution of wealth was necessary, in order for the nation to function as it
should. He felt that if wealth was regulated in any kind of way, people wouldn t have a reason to
want to learn, seek new opportunities or open new businesses if there was a set amount of wealth. It
has been proven Adam Smith at times would contradict himself, it didn t mean he didn t know
what he was talking about, it simply meant he was desperate to find everyone a better way of life,
this is an every growing problem even in today s society, trying to keep a balance between classes
without harming one economic class versus another. (Smith, 1776).
Adam Smith s beliefs of inequality always was a point of discussion, he may have had a
different type of delivery but nevertheless the message was always the same. As we compare
Adam Smith s era with today s period, inequality is on a much larger scale than it ever was in
Mr. Smith s days, and the main reason is because of the growth of Globalization. Mr. Smith s
fundamental approach to economic development and satisfying everyone s wants and needs
cannot be considered in today s world. Trying to make an effort to show how the division of
labor would satisfy the basic needs is no longer practical when we realize that today a great
portion of our salaries are going towards health care and housing. The power to put

Strengths And Weaknesses In English Class
Did you know that 92 percent of all English students end up passing the class, but that only 84
percent of choir students pass English class? In elementary school, I was able to write and read
efficiently. However, my comprehension of what as I read as I got older was not as good as it
could have been. I was able to read books and understand the main points, but often I would
forget little details. My past few years in English have been successful and I have been able to
achieve many of the goals I have set for myself as an English student. In this paper, I will address
my strengths, my weaknesses, what I enjoy the most, and how I learn the best. I have some
strengths and weaknesses and ways I learn the best doing hands on learning and activities. My
strengths in English are writing papers and doing hands on stuff. My weaknesses are
comprehending things and doing bookwork. In my previous years of English, I have done well
and my grades are proof of that. I have averaged A s and B s. One of my major strengths has
been projects where I have to make a google slide presentation and then present it in front of the
class. Tests are also a strong point for me in English. This is because I am able to make
connections easily and link ideas back to main details. However, sometimes I struggle to make
connections if I did not understand or enjoy the material, but for the most part, making connections
and doing well on tests has always been a strength of mine. My struggles in English

An innocent man was convicted of a crime he did not commit. Several reasons exist. First:
Bennett had a previous arrest record and he seemed to fit the description of the killer. Second:
the police were under pressure to solve the crime. And finally above all, because the public was
clamoring for some way to express its indignation (for the death of Mrs. Stuart), found Willie
Bennett a plausible target (Baird and Rosenbaum 97). Cases just like this one lead to innocent
men found guilty with the potential of being put on death row. Today, there are over three
thousand prisoners on death row. Between 1972 and 1996, 68 death row inmates were released
because proof of their innocence was found (Acker, Bohm, and Lanier 232). Only after
struggling with expensive lawyers and a harsh system of justice were Cusson 3 the majority of
these prisoners finally able to receive a second chance. It is preposterous to think that of the
three thousand prisoners on death row, all of them are guilty and deserve the death penalty. The
death penalty is unfair for several reasons, one of them being that legal assistance for inmates on
death row has become increasingly difficult to find. Prisoners on death row filing for appeal have
little or no chance for receiving a fair second chance. Most of the legal work is done for free, and
even lawyers dedicated to making sure these prisoners receive all their legal rights cannot be

A Comparison Of To Kill A Mockingbird And Lost In The Barren
Changing perspective is the act of altering the way someone interprets an action, object, or person.
Adjusting perception can allow one to overcome hardships and understand the community around
them. In To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, characters discover the true background behind
those who are outcasts in society. Likewise, in Lost in the Barrens by Farley Mowat, characters
ascertain that their long term enemies were truly innocent. In The Cold Equations by Tom Godwin,
the pilot of the Emergency Dispatch Ship, Barton, unearths the horror of the stowaway as he
discovers her motives. In Where Have You Gone, Charming Billy? by Tim O Brien, Paul Berlin
changes his viewpoint of another character to remain sane in the battlefield of Vietnam. Seeing
things from another angle allows characters to grow socially and act responsibly against challenges.

Analysis Of Wembley Stadium Project Management
A project is a temporary endeavour that creates a unique result. Time, budget, resources, and
performance specifications, to meet requirements made by stakeholders, limit a project (Project

knowledge to help achieve the three main constraints of scope, cost and time (Project Management
Institute, 2013, pg.5). This applies managerial process and gives project managers the
opportunity to make a project successful. However, there are still numbers of project failures
both big and small projects. This failure does not only affect finances but also demoralizes
employees who have laboured diligently to complete the work. The case of Wembley Stadium
project failure will be analyzed in this paper to illustrate project management difficulties a project
can encounter if appropriate tools and techniques are not successfully developed, implemented,
and evaluated within the project management processes. The major problems concerning the
Wembley Stadium project were scope, time, cost, quality, and stakeholder issues (Carter, 2002).
However, this paper would be focusing on scope, time and cost issues. The format of this paper

the European Community, the European idea was unknown to all but philosophers and visionaries.
The notion of a United States of Europe was part of a humanistic pacifistic dream which was
shattered by the conflicts which brought so much destruction to the European continent in the first

emerged from the resistance movements which had sprung up to resist totalitarianism during the

The Community expanded southwards with the accession of Greece in 1981 and Spain and
Portugal in 1986. These enlargements made it even more imperative to implement structural
programmes designed to reduce the disparities between the Twelve in terms of economic
development.
During this period the Community began to play a more important role internationally, signing new
agreements with countries in the southern Mediterranean and countries in Africa, the Caribbean
and the Pacific, which were linked to the Community by four successive Lome Conventions (1975,
1979, 1984, 1989).
With the agreement signed in Marrakesh on 14 April 1994 , between all the member of GATT,

Designing A Reality Game Show That Goes By The Title Of...
OVERVIEW OF THE BUSINESS
The objective of the business is to produce a reality game show that goes by the title of
QUICKWITT. This game show would include participants from Universities and Colleges. The
show would be based on one minute mind games that would judge the participants level of aptitude.
The participants with the best score would be declared as the winners and would also be awarded
with prices and gift vouches. Secondly, the best participants chosen from each university would
compete in the grand finale of the QUICKWITT. We anticipate positive response from the youth
and plan to cover around 50 colleges and universities from Lahore, Pakistan.

MARKET ANALYSIS
Prime objective of producing this show successfully is to stay fully aware of the marketing trends
and the regular information about the industry and its history. It is pivotal to understand and
analyze the industrial impact in the particular industry as the show is related to entertainment
industry. Around 20 different game showswere analyzed to determine the fate of ours, as the
above mentioned game shows were similar in sketch. Two of popular programs were SPRITE
FUNDA and LIVING ON THE EDGE, these shows have successfully targeted the youth but they
somewhat failed to capitalize the market in the growth terms. We believe that our execution would
go as planned and we can successfully fill the vacuum in the industry.
TARGET MARKET:
QUICKWITT will be targeting the youth industry by focusing on colleges and universities in the
initial time periods. The age would fall between 16 and 28 years old. In our initial stage we would
be targeting the youth from Lahore, the data collected by our team suggests that we would have to
shuffle between 28,000 individuals. However, we would be setting up arrangements for 3 to 400
students as audience from the participating institution. The target market of Lahore is flexible and
elastic, as it comprises the majority of youth population of the country.

Today s educational system faces a questionable success in relation to the advancement of society.
Bob Herbert, an op ed columnist for the New York times, created the educational essay titled, Our
Schools Must Do Better He began working there in 1993 and spent his career writing mainly about
issues facing race as well as poverty in the U.S.. Two men, Arne Duncan and John Chubb wrote
articles that mirror ideas discussed by Herbert. Duncan, who wrote U.S. EducationReform: This
Truly Is a Moon Shoot , is the former United States Secretary of Education and often linked a
student s academic performance to their teachers and school. Similarly, Chubb researched education
topics and eventually became the president of the National Association of Independent
Schools(NAIS). His article, Our Schools Our Future Are We Still At Risk expresses problems that
today s educational systems present. Herbert, Duncan, and Chubb conclude that changes or reforms
in educational systems as well as teacher quality must be done in order to ensure future academic
success to students. Renovations must be done in educational systems to enable success for
students in the changing world of today. In Herbert s essay, he expresses that education is not
improving in ways it needs to. These changes prove to be essential when looked at from the student
and societal aspect. At this point, schools are not adjusting to time changes. Herbert supports this
claim by stating, The U.S. has not yet faced up

Women During World War 2 Essay
During World War II, the percentage of women in the workforce from 1940 to 1945 increased
from 27% to 37%, which includes 350,000 women who served in the armed forces. Most
women had to get jobs due to the men having to fight in the war. Women took jobs as nurses,
engineers, chemists, photographers, message decoders, spies, made airplanes and atomic
bombs, and most of them, about 84% worked in factories. The opportunity for women to get
jobs allowed them to get paid good money and gain job skills. For example, Lieutenant Elsie S.
Ott was an air nurse who helped with the transportation of wounded soldiers from India to
Washington D.C. so the soldiers could receive help. This was Elsie S. Ott s first time riding in
an airplane and caring for hurt soldiers, and she had no proper training with transporting
wounded soldiers. Lieutenant Elsie S. Ott was given not only proper nurse training, but also was
given the Air medal. She was the first woman to get such a medal. Then, Margaret Bourke White
was a photographer and became the first female photographer for LIFE magazine. She took
pictures of events that happened during World War II and she was the first female to ride in the
airplane with a military combat crew. Further, during World War II, there were women who were

Millennials Narcissistic Generation
But narcissistic personality disorder, too, is a set of subjective criteria informed by the
sensibilities of old people that may not necessarily apply to millennials and/or young people.
(para 6) Mark Tracy states in response to author Joel Steins constant accusation of the Millennials
supposedly increasing narcissistic state. Mark discredits Steins implications of objectively
classifying Millennials as a narcissistic generation, because mental health diagnosis actually lack
validity in itself. Marks proves this to the reader by linking an article that shows how the mental
health field are at odds with DSM 5 (a manual that is used in the U.S. as a universal authority for
psychiatric diagnosis). As Dr. Thomas Insel points out, Unlike

The Court Of A Bench Trial Essay
Our judicial system works hard every day to uphold the rule of law. Whether you are sitting in on
a case, watching Court TV, watching legal based movies, or whatever it may be, you notice that
there are different parties and people involved in the whole charade. There are different jobs within
our court system that coincide with each other to keep our courts strong and orderly. These jobs
include: judge, bailiff, stenographer, jury, clerk, and prosecuting attorney. These different jobs have
specific duties that help the court system thrive.Judges decide on the verdict if there is a benchtrial.
A bench trial is a trial by a judge as opposed to a trial by jury (Reuter, 2016). In a bench trial, the
judge is an unbiased third party advocate for justice. He or she determines the appropriate
punishment and sentence those convicted of crimes (Reuter, 2016). A judge takes on a couple
of roles in a bench trial such as, that of the referee who rules on the admissibility of evidence and
decides questions of law, and that of the finder of fact which ultimately determines how much
weight to give the testimony of different witnesses and the credibility of the evidence (American
Bar Association, n.d.). Some cases must be handled by a judge in a bench trial. A federal judge
who presides may be an Article III, Judge or a Magistrate Judge (Gray,Ritter, Graham, P.C., 2015).

Crossing Over Research Paper
Paper chromosomes and die can be used to simulate crossing over during meiosis in anaphase 1.
The die were rolled randomly to determine where a crossover would occur. This procedure was
repeated 100 times to collect data about the probability of crossovers. The percentage of times a
was on the same chromosomeas b, c, d, e, f, and g was calculated by dividing each result in the first
column of the data table by the total number of times a was on the same chromosome as b, c, d, e,
f and g.
The site of crossing over occurred most often on chromosomes a, b, c, and d, while crossing over
occurred less often on chromosomes e, f, and g. This is shown by the data, because chromosomes
a, b, c, and d had the highest numbers and percentages of being on the same chromosome as a ,
while the opposite is shown for chromosomes e, f, and g. The lab results also showed that the
recessive allele a appeared most often with a because in order for any crossing over to occur, the
recessive allele a must be present. This is shown in the die because the die is guaranteed to roll at
least a 1. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If the genes are farther apart, the genes are more likely to cross over. The lab reports show this
because the closer the numbers were to 1, the higher percentage of chromosomes crossed over
with a . The recessive allele that most often remains with a is a and the allele that if mostly
separated from a would be g. If a crossover occurred at point 2, the order of the alleles would be
either abCDEFG, or ABcdefg, depending if the crossover occurred in chromosome 1 or
chromosome 2. If a cross over occurred at chiasmata 4, the gene sequence for chromosome 1
would be ABCDefg. Crossing over occurs in gametes, or reproductive cells. Crossing over causes
genetic recombination, because it causes paired chromosomes to break, and then reform with new
genetic material from each of the paired

Essay on Courtroom Procedures and the Role of the Prosecution
During a trial, there are many rules, procedures, and codes of conduct that must be observed.
These are in place to allow a trial to proceed more efficiently and fairly for both the defense and
prosecution. According to one author, Police, prosecutors, and criminal court Judges see too much
crime, so they tend to see crime everywhere. We need rules to control their conduct, Judges to
carefully apply those rules, and other Judges to review those decisions (law article.net). Courtroom
procedures are important because, without them, defendants and prosecution alike could be treated
unfairly. These procedures give a standard format for trials that must be followed to ensure that all
parties have an equal opportunity to present their... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Courtroom procedures begin before the day of the trial arrives. In a criminal case, the pre trial
proceedings vary based on the severity of the crime. With a simple misdemeanor case, which
could only result in minor jail time or a fine, the pre trial procedures are short and simple.
Usually, the defendant is called to a pre trial hearing where they are read the charges pressed
against them and are asked to give either their plea of guilty and be given a sentencing date, not
guilty and be given a trial date and bail amount, or to plead no contest (American Bar
Association). However, in a felony case that could lead to a serious incarceration sentence, the
procedure becomes more complex. There is a first hearing that is similar to that of a
misdemeanor, except that a plea is not given. This is done at the second preliminary hearing to
determine if there is actually enough evidence to charge the defendant with a crime. If there isn t
enough, the charges are dropped, but if there is, the case moves along in the process (American Bar
Association). Also prior to the trial, a jury of 6 to 12 people must be selected. Each jury member
must go through a screening process to ensure that they have no connection to the trial, or any
preconceived opinion of it that could keep them from being impartial to either side. A juror can be
removed if they have any connection to the trial, and the defense

School Violence
Finding a Solution to School Violence

School is a place where children should go to learn, educate themselves, make lifelong friends and
most importantly they should feel safe. The violence in schools has increased over the years and
many schools aren t sure how to handle this growing problem in an appropriate manner. School
violence may come in various forms and some of the most common forms of school violence
include physical abuses, bullying, brawl and verbal abuses but the most common forms are physical
abuses and bullying. Schools administrators and teachers should deal with each situation

Suspensions can lead to delinquency because some of the students may end up dropping out of
school. The risk of subsequent violence increases when violent students are transferred repeatedly
from one school to another (Finley, 2011). Students that drop out of school because of expulsion or
suspension are more likely to associate with deviant peers because they have more unstructured
time and this can become another problem.
Schools should take proactive approaches when dealing with school violence, but mediating in
conflicts and counselling indiscipline students are just reactive measures that may end up doing
very little to end school violence (Finley, 2011). The success or failure of counseling and
mediation also depends on the qualifications and training of the people in charge of such programs.
As the saying goes it takes a village to raise a child , it will be a great deed for all of society to help
with this ongoing problem of school violence. It is in a parent s best interest to play a big role in
their child s life. A child learns from examples and by watching as others do.
A collective effort that includes parents, teachers and school administrators and the entire
community is needed to effectively deal with the problem of school violence. School violence is to
a large extent influenced by parents, but most of the blame is normally put on

How Does Ed Byrne Create Humour
Ed Byrne, an Irish stand up comedian, uses various conscious techniques in order to create
humour. When performing, he tends to talk at a fast pace, uses body language and occasionally
uses profanity. In this essay, I will compare both comedian and writer, in how Ed Byrne creates
humour and if it reflects how Sarah Thorne describes how humour is produced in her chapter titled
The Language of Humour (Thorne 2008).
Ed Byrne predominantly discusses everyday life such as, becoming a father, relationships and
ordinary things such as attending the doctor s. Thorne states, humour is based on every day
observations , comedians make witticisms the audience can relate too, they have an understanding
as to where they re coming from and can identify truth in the exaggerated version of these events
Thorne 2008:502). Ed Byrne uses this method in virtually all of his shows as it forms a connection
with the audience as they are seen as equal to one another. Author, Alison Ross states that laughter
comes from the enjoyment in shared human experience. (Ross 1998:106).

can become anti social , meaning the audience are left feeling shocked rather than amused. (Thorne

it s discourteous to suggest everyone dislikes Americans. The rhetorical question combined with
profanity, the pause and then the incongruity signalling the end of the joke, all enhance the
delivery. According to a lecture, part of module 100DEL, the context of the joke defines the
audience, shifting our interpretations of how a joke is understood (Cribb 2015). This means a

Jefferson Vs Hamilton Essay
Following the ratification of the Constitution in 1788, the 1790s in the United States was a period
of unrest that characterized a new country with little experience. A partisan divide was formed
during this time period, due to the establishment of Hamilton s plan which resulted in conflict of
interest between Federalists and Republicans, the U.S involvement within the French and British
conflict, and the domestic affairs that dominated Adam s presidency. While each issue had strong
opposition, the true problem was rooted in a government that was more focused on combating
tyranny, rather than finding resolutions to the conflicts at hand. Alexander Hamilton was the
secretary of treasury during Washington s presidency. In 1790, Hamilton established a five step
program that essentially privatized the state treasury, and validated stronger bonds in industry based
foreign trade. This policy had support from merchants, manufacturers and financiers, but not small
farmers, headed by Jefferson and Madison, who wanted the U.S to stay agrarian and expand
Westward. From these two ideals sprouted partisan politics; Federalists under Hamilton, and
Republicans under Jefferson and Madison. The U.S Founders were primarily focused on preventing
the abuse of power when creating the Constitution, and thus there was no method to resolving the
conflict that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

in the states, with those in support aligning themselves with the Federalist party, while those in

The Alamo Paragraph
The Alamo
As Texans began firing at the enemy, deadly shrapnel cut through the columns of advancing
Mexican soldiers and killed and injured many. (Bredson 10). The Alamo was a deadly battle in the
1830s over the independence of Texas from Mexico.
The Alamo was a battle between the Mexicans, and the Texans. The battle was fought over things
such as slavery and to break independence. (The Alamo, Why Did It Happen? Paragraph 2). The
battle started on February 23, 1836 to March 6, 1836. The Texans wanted independence from the
Mexicans, which caused a war. Many people, over 1600 died, and only a few survived, including
Susannah Dickinson and her infant (The Alamo. Paragraph 2).
Towards the end, Santa Anna, a general, was captured. Anna agreed to recognize Texan
independence and told his Mexican forces to leave the state (The Alamo, Why Did It Happen?
Paragraph 4). Most of the Texans were colonizers. They were looking for wealth, and were
happy to take the acres of land the Mexicans were giving (The Alamo, Why Did It Happen?
Paragraph 1). On February 23, one hundred fifty men waited outside of the Alamo. Only a few
who approached the Mexicans were Texans (Ramsdell 30). Many of the Texan soldiers were in a
roofless church, also including the famous Davy Crockett, when Mexican soldiers had busted in the

psychoactive drugs will remain the most significant throughout the twenty first century. I say this
because, our generation has become quite dependent on drugs. For example, according to a

  • 3. Underage Tanning Law Many teens today feel pressured to live up to society s standards. They believe that perfect hair, flawless makeup, designer clothes, and bronze skin is required. This is where tanning beds come into play. About 29.5 percent of teenagers use indoor tanning devices. (Health Day News). However, is the warm, golden glow going to be achievable any more? State Representatives are considering new restrictions, and changing existing laws, in regards to teen tanning. These new commands will ban teens from tanning. Are these bills acceptable? Are they needed? The Senate and Assembly of New York agreed to ban teens ages 16 years and younger from tanning beds (Precious). Lawmakers in New Jersey are adding new rules to teen tanning; no one can tan under the age of 17. (N.J. Bans Minors from Tanning Beds). Therefore, teen tanning bed use is a very controversial topic. Have you ever felt the false sense of security that [you] may not feel under direct sunlight from a tanning bed (Jeffrey)? Your body relaxes, you feel serene, and you get a golden glow. Some teens strive for this feeling...and the tan. Tanning is the skin s response to injury, according to Arielle Kauvar, M. D. The exposure of UV rays over time can cause skin cancer. • 4. Explain What Is Wrong Ashley Kelley Miss Roth H English pd. 4 24 March 2017 Is it Right? Is it Wrong? Morals and values are the basis of all human decisions and knowledge. Every person s morals are different from one another and can be used to define what is right and what is wrong in their own eyes. Values are used as a personal translator that explains another person s behavior or beliefs to a different individual. When people focus on both morals and values that have been set by them, they see everything with a limited view, but take in more about what they learn. People create and set personal values and morals based off of knowledge and understanding of the world and people around them, past experiences that they themselves have gone through, and the personality... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Experiences as children can shape people s brain and affect what is seen as right or wrong. Values are acquired in childhood and manifest themselves in our campuses as permanent perceptions that shape and influence the nature of our behaviors (Chmielewski n.p.). As a child, that person is still developing and maturing both mentally and physically, so the values and morals the child learns are applied to their lives and are held onto. In a world that is constantly growing and developing, it is important for youths to hold onto morals taught to them in their childhood (George 4). Adults also need to hold onto these morals to help youths to learn and grasp their own personal morals. Values involve emotion, knowledge, thought, and ultimately choice and response ( The Factors of Personality Traits n.p.). The knowledge that people gain is gained from experience and is taken in over time. • 6. Tam Lin Relationship Analysis From Blackstock to Nowhere: Relationships and Power Dynamics in Two Retellings of the Ballad of Tam Lin The Scottish folk ballad Tam Lin is a very popular ballad which has inspired many contemporary writers and artists to create their own retellings and reinterpretations. Fire and Hemlock by Diana Wynne Jones and Tam Linby Pamela Dean are two of these retellings. In these novels, Jones and Dean have masterfully brought the events and characters of the traditional ballad into the modern world. Although both novels have drawn from the same source there are a number of distinct differences between the two, especially when it comes to the relationship between their Janet and Tam Lin characters (Polly Whittacker and Tom Lynn in Fire and Hemlock , and Janet Carter and Thomas Lane in Tam Lin), and the balance of power between them throughout the narrative. While Jones novel is very much centered around the idea of Tam Lin being one of the rare few folk ballads or tales with a female hero and is structured as such to give Polly a position of power and equality in the relationship by the end, Dean seems to approach her retelling of the ballad from a different direction, questioning whether Janet really is as empowered by her role as the hero as it may seem at first. In both novels, the first meeting between the Janet and Tam Lin characters sets a strong base for their initial relationship, especially regarding the power dynamics within that relationship. • 7. Types Of Whole Life Insurance Types of Whole Life Insurance As I mentioned a few paragraphs ago, I m using whole life as a blanket term for an entire category of insurance products, which some agents refer to as permanent life or universal life. I like the term whole because it fits well with my approach to investing, which is, if I may be permitted the phrase, holistic. I m concerned with all of you your mind, your emotions, and your overall state of being. In the following section, I ll review the fundamental characteristics of this class of insurance products, then briefly discuss some of the variations therein. Basic Facets of Whole Life Insurance: Fixed Premiums: With some notable exceptions, your premium is set when you buy the policy, and will not change ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Participating and Participating Whole Life: Participating and Participating Whole Life policies are special types of permanent life insurance policies wherein the policy holder is paid a regular dividend from the insurance company, similar to that which a stockholder might receive. These dividends can be used to pay policy premiums, they can be redirected into the investment portion of the policy, or they can simply be kept the policy holder decides how he or she wants to use them. Participating and Participating Whole Life policies are generally less complex than universal policies, since the premiums are almost always fixed. With variable and participating policies, the death benefit may grow or shrink, but there is almost always a guaranteed minimum payout. TIP: The ins and outs of universal and whole plans are very complex, and need no, MUST be discussed with a qualified life insurance agent. Comparison of Investments By now I hope you re convinced about the value of whole life insurance as investment tool. The proper use of a whole life policy can put you on a path to financial security and wealth creation. But in case you aren t convinced yet, I ll take a moment to compare an investment in a whole life policy with other investments. I m going to keep it simple, though. • 9. Compare And Contrast Zeus And Taurus In my humble opinion, all of the constellations are beautiful. But none of the constellations attract me more than the Gemini constellation. I wish I had an elaborate story as to why i m so attracted to the Gemini constellation, but truth be told, Gemini is my favorite because i m a Gemini! The Gemini constellation was first discovered by Ptolemy, a 2nd century AD astronomer. Gemini means Twins in Latin. Without a telescope, it is made up of 85 visible stars. The bordering constellations are Lynx, Auriga, Taurus, Orion, Monoceros, Canis Minor, and Cancer. The myth that belongs to the Gemini constellation goes a little something like this. There once were two twin brothers named Castor and Pollux, together known as Dioskouri. Their mother s name was Leda, but there were two fathers. Castor s dad was Tyndareus, the king of Sparta, and Pollux s dad was Zeus, father of God s and men. Leda was married to Tyndareus, but was seduced by Zeus. Castor and Pollux were very close. • 13. Candidates And Policy Of The United States Senate Elections The names of the authors that wrote an article titled Candidates and Policy in the United States Senate Elections are Gerald C. Wright and Michael B. Berkman. Although the previous literature on the subject suggests, that policy is not a major factor in the decision making process, the article argued otherwise. It is a known fact that a substantial policy difference between the candidates in a particular race exists. Policymakers write specific policies for the future and an election determines who will write the policies, which decides the policy. The ideological characteristics of a state and a candidate for a political office has a positive correlation. Conservative states or districts have conservative candidates regardless of party affiliation. Meanwhile, liberal states or districts have liberal candidates regardless of party affiliation. Besides, the performance of the economy and of the president, assuming that the president and the candidate share the same party, affects the chances of the candidates. This is evident in almost all midterm elections in the modern era. If a president (Democratic President Obama) has perceived as not doing a good job and has a low approval rating (the mid 40s throughout much of his presidency), then congressional candidates in the midterm elections are not in their best position. In the innocence poem the Nurse s song we see a metaphor when the nurse says, My heart is at rest within my breast , meaning that the nurse is content and filled with peace and joy while watching the children at play. Imagery and symbolism is used in both poems with the color greenwhich associates with growth, fertility and spring. (Represent places of play and freedom) Also, in the Innocence poem, imagery is used when said, Besides in the sky, the little birds fly and the hills are all covered with sheep . These creatures are gentle just like the children are and the birds in particular are symbolic of freedom. In the experiencepoem the word night , metaphorically represents danger and sadness. (completely opposite of the innocence where light was used to positively portray the children). In the experience poem the Nanny makes a metaphor when she says, My face turns green and pale , the notes on the back of the book explain how this means that the Nurse is a sex starved spinster. Meaningthat she is a woman who did not experience a happy youth, and who is sick for the longings of experience, and who is maybe jealous of the children. Cleopatra s dream has received minimal critical attention in the canon of Shakespearean scholarship and is completely overlooked even among the appreciations I like best (Harold Bloom s and Camille Paglia s), a curious fate for a passage that forces us to reprocess not only the Egyptian queen but her rambling, indigestible play as well. Difficulty isn t the problem; these critics foci are comparatively subtler and practically impervious to unspecialized contemplation. How to explain, then, the agonizing struggle, especially at this crucial moment in the play, evinced by many of the best and most illustrious actresses of stage and screen who have braved the role? Perhaps the critic who expects nay, hopes that our most gifted actors will also necessarily be good or even merely adequate readers is dreaming. But to misunderstand Cleopatra s dream is to misunderstand Cleopatra; no serious, earnest interpreter of the part can botch this passage. (An impromptu recitation by Helen Mirren uploaded to Youtube proves the point: she purrs the lines warmly, flirtatiously, stuck as she is in the kittenish register that has, by now, become the default interpretation among Cleopatra s most flagrant misreaders. The challenge today s readers are left with is how to make sense of Emma s story. A common interpretation of the novel maintains that Emma Bovary s downfall is due to the fact that she is both foolish and romantically inclined. Emma comes to a tragic end because she has been self dramatizing and impulsive and, above all, because she has believed in the ideals of the Romantic literature of which she has been an avid consumer since adolescence. This is the view adopted by many critics who have viewed Emma as mediocre and trite, her dreams shoddy, second hand and second rate. The literary critic Allen Tate, for example, described Emma as a `silly, sad and hysterical woman (quoted in Brombert: 1966, p.84). Mr. Smith viewed economics contrarily than the mercantilist. Cases just like this one lead to innocent men found guilty with the potential of being put on death row. Today, there are over three thousand prisoners on death row. The die were rolled randomly to determine where a crossover would occur. This procedure was repeated 100 times to collect data about the probability of crossovers. The percentage of times a was on the same chromosomeas b, c, d, e, f, and g was calculated by dividing each result in the first column of the data table by the total number of times a was on the same chromosome as b, c, d, e, f and g. The site of crossing over occurred most often on chromosomes a, b, c, and d, while crossing over occurred less often on chromosomes e, f, and g. This is shown by the data, because chromosomes a, b, c, and d had the highest numbers and percentages of being on the same chromosome as a , while the opposite is shown for chromosomes e, f, and g. Courtroom procedures begin before the day of the trial arrives. In a criminal case, the pre trial proceedings vary based on the severity of the crime. With a simple misdemeanor case, which could only result in minor jail time or a fine, the pre trial procedures are short and simple. Usually, the defendant is called to a pre trial hearing where they are read the charges pressed against them and are asked to give either their plea of guilty and be given a sentencing date, not guilty and be given a trial date and bail amount, or to plead no contest (American Bar Association). However, in a felony case that could lead to a serious incarceration sentence, the procedure becomes more complex. There is a first hearing that is similar to that of a misdemeanor, except that a plea is not given. This is done at the second preliminary hearing to determine if there is actually enough evidence to charge the defendant with a crime. If there isn t enough, the charges are dropped, but if there is, the case moves along in the process (American Bar Association). Also prior to the trial, a jury of 6 to 12 people must be selected. • 51. How Does Ed Byrne Create Humour Ed Byrne, an Irish stand up comedian, uses various conscious techniques in order to create humour. When performing, he tends to talk at a fast pace, uses body language and occasionally uses profanity. In this essay, I will compare both comedian and writer, in how Ed Byrne creates humour and if it reflects how Sarah Thorne describes how humour is produced in her chapter titled The Language of Humour (Thorne 2008). Ed Byrne predominantly discusses everyday life such as, becoming a father, relationships and ordinary things such as attending the doctor s. Thorne states, humour is based on every day observations , comedians make witticisms the audience can relate too, they have an understanding as to where they re coming from and can identify truth in the exaggerated version of these events Thorne 2008:502). Ed Byrne uses this method in virtually all of his shows as it forms a connection with the audience as they are seen as equal to one another. Author, Alison Ross states that laughter comes from the enjoyment in shared human experience. (Ross 1998:106). Everyone s got their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The joke is humorous as tin foil and aluminium foil are two different things, therefore the joke is on Ed Byrne. An English audience would recognise the term tin foil . Sarah Thorne says humour can become anti social , meaning the audience are left feeling shocked rather than amused. (Thorne 2008: 508). If the geographical identity of the audience were American, the joke would not work as it s discourteous to suggest everyone dislikes Americans. The rhetorical question combined with profanity, the pause and then the incongruity signalling the end of the joke, all enhance the delivery. According to a lecture, part of module 100DEL, the context of the joke defines the audience, shifting our interpretations of how a joke is understood (Cribb 2015). This means a comedian has to consider the audience whilst developing their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 52. Jefferson Vs Hamilton Essay Following the ratification of the Constitution in 1788, the 1790s in the United States was a period of unrest that characterized a new country with little experience. A partisan divide was formed during this time period, due to the establishment of Hamilton s plan which resulted in conflict of interest between Federalists and Republicans, the U.S involvement within the French and British conflict, and the domestic affairs that dominated Adam s presidency. While each issue had strong opposition, the true problem was rooted in a government that was more focused on combating tyranny, rather than finding resolutions to the conflicts at hand. Alexander Hamilton was the secretary of treasury during Washington s presidency. In 1790, Hamilton established a five step program that essentially privatized the state treasury, and validated stronger bonds in industry based foreign trade. This policy had support from merchants, manufacturers and financiers, but not small farmers, headed by Jefferson and Madison, who wanted the U.S to stay agrarian and expand Westward. From these two ideals sprouted partisan politics; Federalists under Hamilton, and Republicans under Jefferson and Madison. The U.S Founders were primarily focused on preventing the abuse of power when creating the Constitution, and thus there was no method to resolving the conflict that... American citizens supported this revolt as Americans historically hate tyranny, while the government saw it as a way of raising the prospect of anarchy within their own country. The John Jay Treaty of 1794 gave Britain priority in American trade, which in return concluded the U.S. involvement with France. This alignment with the British monarchy deepened the partisan divide in the states, with those in support aligning themselves with the Federalist party, while those in opposition, with the Republican ... For example, according to a publication in the Journal of the American Medical Association, 59 percent of all U.S. adults are currently on at least one prescription drug, and 15 percent of all U.S. adults are on at least five prescription drugs (Snyder 2016).Futhermore,we find over the counter medicine, there are numerous painkillers available on the market, and most of all as we evolve, scientist will eventually find a way to better than and lessen the negative effects that comes with them.
