in the south. She is poor, as well as uneducated. She lives with her step father, Alphonso (Pa), her
mother, and her younger brothers and sisters. Celie began writing letters to God to escape the
brutality and pain her step father causes her endure on a daily basis. Celie tries her best to keep
her younger sister, Nettie, away from the abuse of their father by persuading Nettie to marry a
middle aged man, Mr. _____. However, Pa refuses to allow Nettie to get married, saying that she
was too young, no experience. Say Mr. ____ got too many children already (Walker, 6). However,
when Mr. ____ returned, Pa offered him Celie s hand in marriage. Celie was then taken away from
her family, most importantly Nettie, but unfortunately she did not escape the constant abuse.

Mesopotamia Problems
Mesopotamia was located in Middle East, between the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers, now this land
is located mostly in Iraq. Mesopotamia is the place where humans first formed civilizations.
Mesopotamia is called the cradle civilization. This is known as this because the people of this
culture developed a large amount of things. For instance: government, written language, religion,
agriculture, and large cities. The early settlers in Mesopotamiastarted to go into small villages and
towns. Eventually they learned how to irrigate land and they grew crops on large farms, after that
the towns grew bigger. Later these towns turned into large cities.
Most of the people lived in mud brick homes. In the cities every family had its own house it didn t

In Mesopotamia there were unpredictable flooding. This caused the land
To become desert like if there was only a little bit of rain. To solve this problem the Sumerians
dug into the banks and created some irrigation canals that carried the water to fields. This allowed
them to grow many crops. Also the villages and towns were on flat land with no natural barriers.
This made it very difficult to defend and there was no standing armies. This caused the Sumerians
to build mud brick walls around their cities for defense.
Sumerians had a low supply of resources available for building and making tools. To solve this
problem they traded cloth, grain, and crafting tools with the people from the mountains and deserts.
In exchange they received stone, wood and metals. Another problem was that the people of
Mesopotamia fought against each other for control over the Tigris and Euphrates. However this
problem wasn t solved and and it still continues today. The people in Turkey wanted to build dams
along the rivers for power and irrigation. Syria and Iraq wanted to use the water from these rivers
for power and

Clinical impression by therapist
Clients Diagnoses (Sarah): Sarah, aged nine, is diagnosed with 995.53 Child Abuse Confirmed

s situation means that she is suffering from other factors that may need clinical attention.
Client Rationale and Clinical Impression (Sarah): Child Protection completed an investigation that
concluded that Sarah s uncle sexually abused her over a period of time. Certain environment and
psychology events impact Sarah, including but not limited to the fact that her mom has a history of
abuse by the same uncle but she never reported to authorities, her family experiences low income,
and her father s family have a confirmed history of both depression and anxiety. Her family as a
whole has been referred to core mental health but it is Sarah s behaviour that are the most overt at
this time. Sarah is fighting with others at school and dominating her younger brother. She has
become oppositional and unwilling to participate in family activities. Sarah fluctuates between
blaming her parents and tormenting her brother. She isolates when others try to get her to take

It is likely that Sarah could be resistant to treatment. Sarah s mother is motivated to improve Sarah s

Asperger s Disorder And Autism Spectrum Disorder Essay
Asperger s disorder is also known as Asperger s syndrome has been at the end of the autism
spectrum and its own category for many years. Now over the last few years in the Diagnostic and
statistical manual of mental disorders 5 (DSM V) it has combined two core deficit areas. They are
impairments in social interaction and impairments in communication into a single domain of social
/communication deficits. It subsumes Asperger s disorder into a single diagnostic category of autism
spectrum disorder. (TEXTBOOKp.237). It is estimated one percentage of the world s population
and over three million Americas are diagnosed with autism spectrumdisorder. ( ). Children with
Asperger syndromeare mostly likely to be average or above average on their intelligence level
and usually will not have a language delay. Some may have an odd speech pattern or a formal
style of speaking. Individuals with Asperger s usually want to fit in and have interactions with
others, but sometimes they have difficult and they don t know how to do it. Having a
conversation back and forth may be difficult. Some may talk too much and not let others talk and
have difficult with active listening skills. They also may be considered socially awkward, have

The Pros And Cons Of A Class Action Law Suit
A class action law suit or class suit is a type of lawsuit where one of the parties is a group of
people who are represented collectively by a member of that group. Some advantages of this is
that it is lower costs of litigation because the expenses are shared among the class members who
pay nothing up front and even then only if the lawyer is able to settle or their behalf or win do
they pay, it is a stronger position because the very nature of a large group of people with a similar
claim leads to a stronger negotiating position, etc. One con of this is that there is a lack of control
because only the representative parties have decision making power to settle and to make other
important decisions regarding the lawsuit and it takes time because

Abstract: A middle aged patient presented with symptoms conducive to a condition known as
pericarditis, an inflammation of the sac surrounding the heart, most likely caused by a recent
bacterial infection. The patient was, however, negative for pericardial effusion, or fluid collection
around the heart, usually a tell tale sign of pericarditis. She was admitted and treated for
pericarditis and was released with a very favorable outcome and no complications.
Introduction:
Patient s family and medical history was not remarkable and raised no red flags, there were no risk
factors for cardiovascular disease and a physical examination revealed the patient to be in no

The patient is admitted to the hospital for observation and since she is suffering only from acute,
uncomplicated pericarditis, she is started on 800 mg. of Ibuprofen; 3 times a day and discharged,
advised to get a follow up with her primary health care provider. After 1 week she reports that she
is completely free of symptoms and with no further therapy being recommended. Pericarditis is an
inflammation of the pericardium and can be the result of a number of medical conditions, including
but not limited to: viral infections, association with tuberculosis, bacterial infections, as well as
autoimmune disorders, though with some cases of pericarditis the cause is not apparent. Given the
patient s history of the recent Salmonella infection, a bacterial infection, it can be hypothesized that
this was the cause of her pericarditis. Though it is favorable in these cases to know the etiology of
the condition, it is not necessary for effective treatment of the pericarditis itself (Zayas, Anguita,

Texting And Driving Cause Death Essay
The facts are astounding and horrific. According to the Association for Safe and International
Travel, nearly 1.3 million individuals are killed in road related crashes each year. This accounts
for 3,287 deaths each day. Among the statistics, is the fact, that car related accidents are the
leading cause of death among young adults ages 15 through 29. It is also the second leading
cause of death worldwide among young people ages 5 through 14. Unless action is taken, car
related deaths are expected to become the fifth leading cause of death by 2030.
One of the actions I would propose is changing the age where teenagers can first get their license.

Also, in Minnesota, for example, a man was released from jail after his 27th D.W.I. Where are
prosecutors? Why isn t the law more forceful? Why can an individual get a 27th D.W.I and
nothing is done before hand? If we as a nation step up, we can prevent less drinking and driving

What Is A Truck Essay
An object that has a special meaning to me would be my dads truck because he has had it my
whole life and I have a lot of memories of it. My dad s truck is special to me because it is a part of
my childhood, my dad taught me how to work on cars with that truck and he has had it since it was
brand new.
My dads truck has always been a part of my life because my dad bought it brand new in 1999,
just a few months before I was born. As I was saying, that truck has always been a part of my
life, it is what took my mom to the hospital to have me and it is what brought me home from the
hospital. Every year around my birthday my family goes to Myrtle Beach on vacation, I actually
just happened to be born then because they had been going that week for years. One specific trip
to the beach when I was little I still remember because we took the truck which is very unusual
and any other time when we went on long trips when I was younger I would usually go to sleep
on the way there but whenever we would go in the truck I was awake and had fun. There s just
something about it that I can t explain that I have always liked, it s nothing special to anyone else,

Kevin Mitnick s Conviction
Kevin Mitnick will forever live in infamy after a lifetime entrenched in the hacker community as
both a black hat and white hat hacker. He is likely most well known for his high profile arrest in
1995, his second criminal conviction, after which he began work as a security consultant. Today,
Mitnick runs Mitnick SecurityConsulting, LLC testing security for both Fortune 500 companies
and the FBI. This is in stark contrast to his humble beginnings in the LA area at 13 years old, in
1976, when Mitnick would find bus tickets in the trash and use specialized ticket punchers to get
free bus rides. Free bus rides came as a result of Mitnick s ingenuity and his primary tool, social
engineering. Mitnick soon added computerhacking to his repertoire in 1979 when he acquired...

Many considered his punishment to be too harsh, arguing that he was excessively punished and
that he did not cause any actual losses worthy of such a conviction. This speaks to the ethics
practiced by Mitnick who always asserted that he was not a malicious hacker, never using his
exploits for substantial financial gain, but merely practiced hacking out of curiosity and as a
means of demonstration. Mitnick would use this mentality to build a security consulting firm
and as a board member for Zimperium, a firm that develops systems to prevent mobile intrusion.
Kevin Mitnick has spent his entire life taking advantage of technological exploits, building a
skill set that would give him unprecedented access to some of the highest profile computer
networks in the world. He will always be remembered for his 1995 arrest, but will also go down
as a pioneer for both black hat and white hat hackers. He serves as an excellent case study for
where the line between ethical and unethical decisions lie in a very murky world that is becoming
more and more connected every

Revenge of Medea
Medea was such a different woman and people in her society were afraid of her, including men.
As a result of this, before Jason, she never experienced being in love. When she finally experienced
this type of love she went to no end for Jason. To protect Jason and her love for him she killed the
beast guarding the Golden Fleece, she killed her brother, and she left her home, family and
everything she knew for him. Most women would not have gone that far for love, especially
women during her time; but Medea was not your average woman. All of the things she did for
Jason. But start when Jason betray her, all the bad feeling coming.

Being a stranger is hard and when your love one betray is harder. She also said to the woman of
the Corinth, You have this city, your father s home. I m alone; I have no city; now my husband
insults me. (Pg. 25, line. 5 8). She said her family gone and she does not have anyone to lean on.
The only person she has was her husband but now her husband going to leave her and marry
another woman. She had betrayed her father because of Jason. She did everything for Jason. So
she does not have family to return. This is very emotional because when we feel sad, we just
need someone to talk to or someone who with us to encourage us. But Medea was in another
country with different culture and believes. She said in the country where she from if a man
grows tired of the company at home, he can go out, and find a cure for tediousness. We wives are
forced to look to one man only. (pg. 24, line. 30 32). For her she rather die instead of seeing her
husband leaving her and she wants only her husband to her and no other woman between her and
Jason.
This is what Medea said to the woman of Corinth If I can find a way to work revenge on Jason for
his wrongs to me, say nothing. (Pg. 25, line 11 13). She said that because he s the only person
she has and she has no one to help her and no justices to help her. And if Jason leaves her she has
no one to return to. It is very easy to agree

was a retail dominated mobile device market. Any mobile phone manufacturer could choose
whether or not to get a space in retail store and sell phones to the public. Xiaomi had decided to

established partnerships with different suppliers that enabled them to cut cost and also opened
the door for a wide array of developing products which is more commonly called the internet of

Summary Of The Web That Has No Weaver
The Web That Has No Weaver: Understanding Chinese Medicine by Ted J. Kaptchuk is a non
fiction book describing the philosophy of traditional Chinese medicine and how it compares to
Western medicine. This book does not focus on a specific time period or regions where Chinese
medicine is practiced. Rather, it centers on the logic behind Chinese medicine. After studying
Chinese medicine in Macao, Ted Kaptchuk returned to America and realized that he could not
abandon what he learned just because it was different from Western medicine. Chinese medicine is
over two thousand years old and textbooks have dated back to the Han dynasty (202 B.C.E. 220

The Three Strikes Laws For Repeat Criminal Offenders
On an everyday basis, how is the three strikes law affecting people in New Mexico? The three
strikes law is one of the most modernized laws in the criminal justice system of the United States,
where it has been created in the efforts to reduce and prevent crimes in the states especially for
required sentencing laws for repeat criminal offenders. In 2003, more than half of the United
States had adopted the three strikes law; in addition, the law is raised when criminals have
committed their third felonies. Therefore, these laws execute a harsher penalty of a minimum of
25 years of a life sentence for criminals who have committed a crimefor the third time even though
their crimes that are not evil. There were many arguments raised when many of the criminals
were sent to prison for 25 years for a very small crime such as petty theft. Many of the people in
the United States argued that a 25 year prison is very similar to the punishment for committing
murder. In 2013, according to The Washington Times Newspaper by associated press, Santa Fe,
N.M. (AP) house majority leader Nate Gentry argues that New Mexico is the second most
dangerous state in the nation as far as violent crime goes (press). This is the result based on the

Ethical Theory Of Utilitarianism
In this essay, I will attempt to explore the ethical theory of Utilitarianism and the impression it has
left on me. The Utilitarian theory suggests that it is morally right to seek the greatest good for the
greatest number of people. The morally right act is the act which results in the most happiness for
the people of this world. Nature has placed mankind under the governance of two sovereign
masters, pain and pleasure. It is for them alone to point out what we ought to do. (Bentham quoted
in DupreМЃ, 2013:49)Every person s individual actions must be done with the view that their
actions will in turn result in greater happiness, not just their own personal happiness but that of
every person affected. The ethical theory of utilitarianismwas developed by Jeremy Benthamand
John Stuart Mill, who both practiced philosophy and economics. Utilitarianism at first glance seems
to have many positives and upsides, but unfortunately no system is perfect, so it... Show more

It is evident to me that it most definitely has its flaws. Although it has made an impression on me
I am left asking myself many questions. For example, does the end result always justify the
means by which it is achieved, even if harm is still put upon some people, they may not be the
majority but they are still human beings with feelings and emotion. And how can happiness be
measured accurately? The theory of utilitarianism is based on the idea that the action or choice
that results in the greater good should be carried out. But what is good? How can you measure
and compare the goodness of separate actions? Every individual will have a different perception
on what good is depending on how it will impact on their own personal lives. All our decisions are
subjective, made in our own minds influenced by our own personal feelings and emotions. This
impressed me as the basis of what utilitarianism is built upon cannot be

Life can suck at times. People can be stretched every direction and feel as if they are being beat
on. There are times when people feel physically and emotionally worn out to the point where
they want to give up. However, when those people continue to stay strong and fight, they
accomplish amazing things and learn more than they could have ever imagined. Truth is,
everybody will face trials in life, but it s how people react to them that makes a difference. In the
article, Wise Words From Wise Leaders, by Kenyon Craig, it says, We all face adversity at some
point in our lives. Our success lies in how we handle it. Many of us allow challenges to defeat
us. What I say to you is this: accept your challenge head on. If you focus on developing into a
stronger and wiser individual, you will succeed not in spite of, but because of the very
challenges you face. The most successful people in life don t get that way from having it easy
in life. When a person accepts a challenge and learns from their mistakes and hardships that is
when they are able to rise above the rest. Why? Because they understand concepts that others
couldn t even begin to grasp. They know the importance of life and just how drastically it can
change. They appreciate what they have and cherish the little things in life. In the poem, the
speaker calls upon the older and experienced people to, come from the holy fire, perne in a gyre,
and be the singing masters of my soul. (pg. 1148 lines 19 20) He wants to learn from them and

Descriptive Essay On A Beach
For this assignment I decided to head out to Docweiler Beach near LAX. I love the beach, not so
much for going swimming or getting wet but more to lay in the sand and just relax to the
soothing sound of the waves, especially nice in this hot weather. I decided to bring my sister for
the ride so it s not to lonely and set up around a more deserted part for more concentration and
relaxation. I also chose Dockweiler Beach because there I could get a sense of all the 5 ancient
elements all in one sitting, with all the elements interacting. Water clashing against the sand to
create a calming sound, the wind riding against the waves causes a cool chill down my spine and
the man made fireto keep warm. I can feel the earth element in the sand getting in my toes and all
over my clothes to later find more in my underwear. The Air element is strong along the beach,
getting my hair all over my face as well as making kites fly high. I see the fire element being
used to light the bonfires along the beach to keep people warm on the windy beach or to
probably make S mores. The water element as I can see is the giant ocean in front of me going
as far as I can see with no ending. Another reason I don t like going into the water, the ocean is
terrifying especially when you don t know how to swim. Then there is the void element which in
this case is me and my mind observing this presence and writing it out in this essay. Officially
today there is a total of 118 elements in the periodic table. These ancient four elements originated
from the ancient Greeks and then the fifth element aether (void) was added by Aristotle. Before the
fifth element the first four elements which were earth, wind, water, and fire, represented to the
ancient Greeks as well as modern science the four states of matter. In these 4 states of matter we
have solid representing the earth element, liquid representing the water element, gas representing
the air element, and plasma representing the fire element. The ancient 5 elements are active is
every bodies daily routine schedule. It s something we see every day and don t notice the affects
they have on us. Looking more closely to everyday life we have earth. Earth is what we walk on, it

The Summer Of 2020 Essay
The summer of 2025 was visible and bright, with fresh warmth from the sun; the fields flourished

The Death Penalty Is Archaic and Immoral Essays
The death penalty is simply a modernized version of the Holy Bible s an eye for an eye, a tooth
for a tooth, a hand for a hand, a foot for a foot . Some argue that death is a necessary retribution
for murderous cases but is it effective morally? Revenge only glorifies violence, which is most
definitely not the message the world strives to display. The death penaltyis a negative form of
punishment and insinuates a harsh reflection of society economically, politically, and socially.

of the fifty United Statesalso object against the decree. What does this say about America? The

Dating back to the great words of Voltaire, It is better to risk saving a guilty person than to
condemn an innocent one. Over 130 people have been exculpated over false convictions since 1730
and the numbers are still growing. When those thirty five United States prove that they can weed
out the guilty from the innocent confidently and without fail, maybe then they shall obtain the
rationale behind such a serious sanction. Yet as it stands so clumsily today, there is no assurance
the death penalty emits for the future. The death penalty is discriminatory against social and
economical aspects of society. Studies show that starting in 1977, most of those placed on death row
are guilty of killing white victims, and that African Americans enumerate one third of those
executions. The most evident factor determining execution is the ethnicity of the victim, which is
extremely biased, even if racial hostility is still inextricable to civilization. Not only is the death
penalty prejudice, but it is also exceedingly unfair economically. It s horribly expensive to run
executions, and the money spent on them could be put into more useful areas of interest and even
help reduce rates of crime! Many inmates cannot afford their own attorney, which leaves them with
either no lawyer or poor representation in court to defend them selves. The government has the
authorization to ratify the death penalty in any location inside America, even in states

GEN200 Prioritizing for Responsible Productivity Growing up, responsibility was something most
young minds feared. The way parents spoke of responsibility, portraying so much struggle and
frustration, it was evident most individuals dreaded growing up and acquiring more responsibility

things become easier to accept. Through the years one can learn to distinguish the difference

Suffice it to say, let us discuss how finding financial balance is important. I have yet to receive

without it. Experiencing any shortage on monetary endowments will keep reality in check. So,
I developed managing money as good as possible by practicing cost efficient spending, stretching
pay periods, and exhausting monetary resources. By focusing on balancing my finance on what
is necessary vs. what is preferred, I can return to school. By prioritizing what needs to be paid
first, I am directly supporting my personal responsibility to myself. Ideally, everyone wants to
pay off all debts. Being able to prioritize which debts are paid off first supports organization and
validity in all aspects of an individual s life. Since I have touched base on playing hard and

The Importance of Sustainability in a Company
1.Discuss in what way an improved sustainability performance can benefit a company.
Even with the current trend pushed by consumers awareness related to increasing sustainability
throughout companies processes and activities, at the end, they always rely on profit to pay its
employees, suppliers and shareholders. If we think with a strictly economic point of view, the first
impression about sustainability is not a positive one. A simple thought might consider all the money
spent with ISO certifications, GRI reports, cleaner production, and health and safety as an obstacle
towards the maximization of profits or, at best, as necessary money used to fulfill all the legal
requirements.
By this old way of thinking, neither employees nor shareholders would like to see money being
used to support some educational or social initiative instead of being used to pay profit sharing or
dividends. For very long time, this dominant thought, together with the lack of awareness about the
environmental and social impacts caused by companies, led to decades of a debate corporations
against society and environment . Even though this debate persists nowadays influenced by left
wing thinkers, big part of society and the executives started to see this relation as a synergy instead
of as a competition.
Pushed by consumers and scientific discoveries, some leading companies started this shift and they

The Lateral And Axial Resolution Of The Microscope
The lateral and axial resolution of the microscope play a key role in biological studies to investigate
the intricate internal mechanisms of the cell. There is a fundamental limitation with the lateral
resolution of the microscope due to the finite wavelength of light. Although, during the past few
years, a large number of solutions have been presented to deal with this problem, e.g., scanning
electron microscopy(SEM), scanning tunnel microscopy (STM), atomic force microscopy (AFM),
optical microscopy is the most interesting high resolution microscopic techniques because of its
capability and compatibility of non contact, minimally invasive observation and measurement of
live specimens. However, Conventional far field microscopic methods suffer from lack of the
sufficient spatial resolution for resolving subcellular structures due to the Abbe diffractionlimit. This
limitation (about 200 nm) caused the emerging of the many super resolution microscopic methods
such as Stimulated Emission Depletion (STED) Microscopy, Structured Illumination Microscopy
(SIM), Stochastic Optical Reconstruction Microscopy (STORM), Photo Activated Localization
Microscopy (PALM) and so forth.
Due to its resolution beyond the diffraction limit, its axial sectioning capability (the removal of out
of focus blur), and its high speed imaging, SIM has been applied more than other mentioned super
resolution techniques in fluorescence microscopy. In this method that first time was introduced by

Martin Luther, And His Concept Of Christianity
This is an essay about Martin Luther, and his concept of Christianity. As a student and a unbiased
Christian, I enjoy studying all types of religions, and elements that encompass them. Luther began
his religious career as an Augustinian Monk in the Roman Catholic Church. So, Luther was
initially loyal to the papacy, and even after many theological conflicts, he attempted to bring about
his understanding with the Church. But this was a contradiction not to suffer because in his later
years, Luther waged a continual battle with the papacy. Luther was to become a professor of
biblical exegesis at Wittenberg where, in 1957, he posted his critique of the Roman Catholic
Church s teachings and practices. This is otherwise known as The Ninety Five Theses, which is
usually considered to be the original document of the Reformation. The Reformation was very
controversial then, and, from a historical viewpoint, it still is today. Luther played a large part in
the movement, and I was interested I doing a research to uncover what was the issue with religion.
Basically, this document was an indictment of the venality of the Roman Catholic Church,
particularly the widespread practice of selling indulgences in association with the sacrament of
penance. Luther s beliefs on the matter were that after confession, absolution relied upon the sinner
s faith and God s Divine Grace rather than the intervention of a priest. Martin Luther was a man that
made a huge impact not only on those in

And Then There Were Three
And Then There Were Three From author to appearance, purpose to publisher, the creation of the
Lyrical Ballads was far from simple. Though the blank verse Tintern Abbey is one of the other
poems hidden in the back of just one edition of William Wordsworth and Samuel Taylor Coleridge s
ballads, the pastoral ode best represents the Wordsworthian anxiety that casts a shadow over the
entire, complex publicationof the LyricalBallads.
Tintern Abbey was not meant to be a part of the Lyrical Ballads, but was added at the last minute,
when the poems were already in the printing press (Moorman). Though hasty and not quite fitting,
Wordsworth s final addition to the first volume of the Lyrical Ballads became its most illustrious...

Cottle returned to Bristol with The Rime of the Ancient Mariner in hand, as well as an agreed upon
title for the whole collection, the Lyrical Ballads.
After Cottle left, Coleridge wrote him a letter further explaining the mission of the Lyrical Ballads:
We deem that the volumes offered to you are to a certain degree one work, in kind tho not in
degree, as an Ode is one work that our different poems are as stanzas, good relatively rather than
absolutely: Mark you, I say in kind tho not in degree. (cited by Jordan)
The Lyrical Ballads gained a specific and radical purpose that Wordsworth and Coleridge would
have to defend. Thus, Wordsworth began to show deep concern for his hard work and its
revolutionary mission. The primary poet often visited Bristol over the next few months to oversee
the production of the poems (Rannie). As the purpose of the work specified, so did the
appearance. Coleridge also demanded, with Wordsworth s support, that there be 18 lines per page
and the lines closely printed (cited by Jordan). So, Wordsworth made sure that these details, along
with the arrangement of the ballads, were in concert with his and Coleridge s wishes.
Wordsworth made his last visit to Bristol before the poems went to the press on July 2, after
packing up his belongings from Alfoxden and dropping them off with the Coleridges in Nether
Stowey. On the tenth of July, rather than find a place to stay for a few days, William and

Scapegoat Incident Analysis
The experience I had as a member of a group in which someone became a scapegoat involves a
situation in which I was a scapegoat. This situation occurred last year, September of 2015, not
long after starting to take classes at Teachers College. The class in which this incident occurred
was Fundamentals of Cooperation, Conflict Resolution, and Mediation in Different Institutional
Contexts. I was assigned to a group at the time by the professor of the class. I will speak in third
person regarding this incident. The scapegoat was created based on an incident that occurred
during one of the first team meetings. The group as a whole were discussing the homework
assignment from the previous week. The task was to give a personal definition of the word
conflict. As different members of the group mentioned their definitions, the soon to be scapegoat
illustrated a difference of opinion. While all the other members of the group discussed how conflict
can be negative, the scapegoat mentioned during his definition that conflict, while tough to address

Another technique this commercial uses is what the camera focuses on. When the camera is
focused on the mother s back side from the mans point of view the creators are telling the
audience what is really on the man s mind, and why the son says don t touch my mama. The
creators do the same thing with the bowl of Doritos. The camera also zooms in on the game
controller in the boy s hand. Through putting the focus on the boy dropping the game controller,
the creators lets the audience know that things have just gotten serious and that something is
about to happen. Aside from the different types of appeals, pathos and ethos, and camera focus;
the creators are sending a couple of messages with the son s actions. The first message is to get
your own Doritos and not take someone else s. This message comes across when the boy slaps
the man and tells him to put his Dorito chip back in the bowl. By the son not being willing to
share even one of his Doritos, the creators are telling the viewers not to share their Doritos with
any one. The second message is that Doritos are just as important as mothers. The viewers can see
this as the boy not only tells the man not to touch his mother but also to keep his hands off the
boys Doritos. By doing this the boy in a way puts the Doritos on the same level of is mother
making the chips just as import as the woman who gave birth to him. These techniques and hidden

A History of Food Stamps
The primary goal of food stamps is to increase food security and reduce national hunger in the
United States. Each year, out of the one trillion dollars that the United States Government has to
spend on assistance and welfare, food stamps takes up about 70 billion dollars (The History of
NAP). The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP or previously known as the Food
Stamp Program) started through the Agriculture Adjustment Act (AAA) and since then has spread
around its influence and authority and grown in size (Mary Clare Jalonick Associated). Throughout
the past 80 years, the Food Stamp Program has been modified and reformatted, and today it aids

Johnson instated the Food Stamp Act which made the Food Stamp Program permanent. Congress
saw this as an opportunity to strengthen the agricultural economy; to help achieve a fuller and
more effective use of food abundances; to provide for improved levels of nutrition among low
income households through a cooperative Federal State program of food assistance to be operated
through normal channels of trade (Puro, Steven). In order for this program to function Congress
would distribute out paper food stamps each month through a welfare office to those personnel or
families who made the poverty line or below. Right after the Food Stamp Act of 1964 was adopted
by Congress and the United States, many legislators have debated funding, eligibility standards,

the action filled scenes to the time period it set in, there s many components of this film that
heavily qualify it as a traditional western film. Furthermore, It was directed by John Ford and the
lead actor was John Wayne, two very influential people in the making of westernfilm.
In this film, John Wayne plays Uncle Ethan a civil war veteran who is returning home. Shortly
after his return an indian tribe, the Comanches, raided his family s home and took his niece. This
movie shows the year long journey Ethan took to find his niece and retrieve her from the indians
who took her away.
There are many ways that this film fit itself into the Western film genre. One of the most common
components of western film is the the concept of good versus evil. The good is the cowboys and
the evil is the Indians. The movie The Searchers, has many good vs. Evil fights. In the scene

3 years prior to the day he returned. In addition to the mention of the time period, they costumes

His handling of the theme is, on the contrary, strikingly abstract, which compounds the effect of
their inherent abstraction ( Kelvin Everest ). When I Have Fears That I May Have Ceased To

as a frame upon which is soliloquize, a shape upon which to string his thoughts about death, love,

Keats wrote this poem about having fears dying before people could see his poetry work says Bruce

alternating new rhymes concluding a couplet. Such as a rhyme scheme of (abab, cdcd, efef) and

poem says critic Bruce King. Throughout the quatrains of the poem the quatrains are marked by
the semicolons after lines 4 and 8, by the repetition of When I at the start of the first and second
quatrain, and by the repeated phrase And when I at the start of the third quatrain.( Bruce King )
Critic Bruce King says the vowel rhyme romance / chance in the second quatrain has similarities to

Symbolic Interactionism In Sociology
Symbolic interactionism is one of the three major theoretical perspectives in sociology. Symbolic
interactionism is important in microsociology because interactionists emphasize the subjective
meaning of human behaviors, while other theoretical perspectives like functionalism and conflict
theory focus on society as a whole on the macrosociology level. Interactionists focus on the micro
lens of society because they base their theory on the image of humans, rather than on their image of
society. The central theme of symbolic interactionismis that symbols are culturally derived social
objects with shared meanings that are created and maintained through social interaction.
Symbolic interactionism originated with two key theorists, George Herbert ... Show more content on

Popular Support In Julius Caesar Essay
Popular support and the distribution of power are two intertwining concepts that are prominent in
Nicolo Machiavelli s 16th century treatise, The Prince, and Julius Caesar by William
Shakespeare, of the same era. While Machiavelli s treatise served to provide a practical guide to a
reigning prince and Shakespeare s play served to entertain an Elizabethan audience, both composers
examine different perspectives of popular support and the distribution of power.
The Prince similarly suggests that popular support is essential in achieving power, but prioritises
the importance of gaining support from the citizens over the support from nobles. Machiavelli
critically analyses the advantages and disadvantageous concerning monarchy and popular support ...

Caesar s power is distributed amongst characters including Antony, Brutus and Octavian, and as
such, his own individual power is weakened, giving Brutus and the conspirators the opportunity
to rebel against him. Brutus power is conveyed in Cassius speech in Act 1 Scene 2, where he
utilises rhetorical questions including, Why would that name [Caesar] be sounded more than
yours? and sarcasm by referring Caesar as Immortal , to undermine Caesar s authority as a ruler.
However, while Brutus and the conspirators successfully murder Caesar, Antony and Octavian
emerge as the victors at the Battle at Philippi, suggesting that ultimately Caesar s spirit and rule
lives in the noblemen who support him. The recurring supernatural imagery of Caesar s spirit in
both Brutus tent prior to the battle in Act 4 Scene 3 and on the battlefield conveyed by Brutus in
Act 5 Scene 5, suggests that Caesar s spirit not only metaphorically perpetuates but also literally
appears in front of Brutus. The fact that the play is named after him despite his death early in the
play and not after Brutus, further enhances the idea that the distribution of power from the leader to
his noblemen allows the leader s rule to continue beyond his

Compare And Contrast For And Against Capital Punishment
Capital punishment
Capital punishment is one of the biggest issues in the world and many people agree and
disagree with it for many reasons. Moreover, our lives will be less secure and crimes of violence
will increase without capital punishment. Furthermore, I agree with the death penalty because it
will help to deterrence other people from doing crimes and they will think more about any thing
they will do because they know what will happen for them after doing crimes. Some murderers and
other criminals will suffer more in jail. So, the death penalty is the best choice for some of them. In
addition, in this essay I will talk about for and against capital punishment. Also, I will talk about
comparison and contrast between (for and against) death penalty. ... Show more content on

The first reason is that every one is going to die at the end so if he or she dies by the capital
punishments or diseases are the same and this is a weak reason to agree with the death penalty. The
second reason is that the criminals can do other crime inside the jail or after escaping or being
released from it. As a result. The execution is permanently removes the worst criminals from
society. In my opinion, execution is not a strong reason because they may not do any crimes in
the future. The third reason is that keep the criminal life in the jail for a long time cost a lot of
many for the country. So, death penalty save money for many countries and this is a strong
reason to agree with the execution. The fourth reason is retribution. We can say an eye for an eye
, so the criminal is made to suffer in proportion to the offence, and this is a strong reason for the
capital punishment. The last reason is that death penalty is deter for many people from doing
crimes, so it is become one of the strongest reason to execution the

Analysis Of The Movie Fall Arrives
Fall arrives in the city with cool, crisp winds that brush leaves from the ground into the air in a
slow churning whirlwind causing them to dance about, descending to the moist ground. A
yellow cab is patiently circling the neighborhood in search of fares, which has been a twenty
year practice of Max a stout, older man with a protruding belly that strains the buttons of his
faded, much wrinkled shirt. He slowly drinks a cup of lukewarm coffee singing my mama told
me you better shop around... He looks up at the sky at dark, overcast clouds, Looks like rain today
he says. Max knows the streets of his hometown better than anyone around. He typically works on
the east side of the city around the old Elmhurst Cemetery. Most people don t venture close to the
cemetery claiming that they often see a young womanwalking through it. They are convinced she
is a ghost looking for revenge, but these stories never bother Max nor had he ever seen this ghostly
young woman.
Drops of rain begin to tap his windshield, but not enough for Max to engage his wipers. He
continues to drive, sip on his coffee, singing until the rain begins to violently pound his cab
prompting him to slam on his brakes. The cab swerves, his coffee spills on his chest and runs
down his belly, Crap! Max exclaims in frustration. With his cab still swerving, he comes close to
hitting a young woman crossing the street near the cemetery just before he stops short of hitting
her left leg. He was shocked to see someone

Catholicism And Religious Allegory In Dante Alighieri s...
In Dante Alighieri s Italy, Catholicism is a base for thousands of people. As well a jumping point
for criticism in all aspects of life, especially in sin. By looking at the character Dante, In Dante s
Inferno, one can see how Dante Alighieri uses complex language with religious allegory to create a
better understanding of God and man s relationship to Him.
Dante the author, shows what happens when man does not have God in his life, this is specifically
seen in the second circle of hell, where those who lust go. As, well, Dante the character states
Halfway through the story of my life/ I came to be in a gloomy wood, because/ I d wandered off
the path, away from the light (Canto I. line 1 3). Dante shows the reader that his relationship
with God has been lost. With the gloomy woods representing sin, and evil. While the light
represents God, and Dante the author has finally begun to find his way back to the path filled
with light. The irony is that Dante the character goes to the sin filled hell to show his love for
god. Dante tells the reader that God is the only way to keep his relationship, and to truly
understand the complexity, and as Dante shows the reader hope, he then begins to hammer down
those who sin, by showing his ideal hell. Dante begins to explain the second circle of hell where
those who lust remain. The spirits can be heard By the ruin, weep,/ and gnash their teeth, and
moan, and curse and swear,/ and blaspheme God, and bawl, and howl, and shriek,/ and

Essay about Jay GatsbyВґs American Dream in The Great Gatsby
The ideal American Dream can be portrayed in many different ways, though generally based
upon the idea of opportunity for upward mobility within society. While people move to the top of
society, they accumulate the perceived good things in life: the perfect partner, high social status
and respect in the workplace to go along with the unlimited wealth and power. This idea is dated
all the way back to the beginning of American literature. In the past, Americans started with the
basic needs and only the things they needed to get by in life. Now families are transforming into a
life view filled with the perfect life, nice car, large house, and the ideal family. In The Great Gatsby

love of Jay Gatsby s life. The two met five years prior to her marriage, but were separated when Jay
was forced to go off to war. The root of his desire for wealth occurs back to when Daisy s parents
did not approve of Gatsby for their daughter due to the fact that he came from a poor family. Jay is
once again blinded, this time by the beauty and grace of Daisy and fails to see that Daisy is not
who she appears to once be. He craves her for the realization of his golden family in his perfect
dream, but really Daisy is far from that.
Throughout the novel Fitzgerald shows that Daisy is self centered and careless at heart; she is a
dreamer who fails to face reality. Continuing an affair with Gatsby with no real intentions of
leaving her husband eventually leads to the death of Gatsby. In return she shows little to no
concerns over the death of her love Gatsby and returns into the arms of her corrupt husband. Tom,
who is also unfaithful in their relationship has a mistress of his own who is killed in a car
accident while Daisy was driving. Tom as well shows no remorse in her death and moves on like
nothing ever happened. Daisy and Tom are the prime example of corruption in both material
success and with what wealth can bring; They instinctively seek out each other because each
recognizes the other s strength in the corrupt

to be watched by young teen in high schools everywhere to bring awareness to bullies in schools,
how they affect children, and how quickly it could end badly. There have been many studies done

cyberbullying can be done anonymously that is why more people do this because they can just
get away with it ( Delete Cyberbullying Why Do People Cyberbully? ). A very famous case of
someone committing suicide because of cyberbullying, is the Amanda Todd case. Amanda posted a

How Did Woody Indians Influence Society In The 1930 s
If I walked up to a person today they most likely wouldn t know who John Steinbeck, Will Rogers
or Woody Guthrie is. In the 1930s, this was a different story. Everybody knew who they were in
the 30 s. Steinbeck, Guthrie, and Rogers were famous for their work considering the Great
Depression. The Great Depression was caused by the Stock Market Crash of 1929. Will Rogers,
Woody Guthrie, and John Steinbeckall influenced society in the 30 s by providing a means of
diversion for the common man.
In the 1930 s the people of America turned to John Steinbeck to understand and relate to the
hardships of the Depression. John Steinbeck was most famous for writing Of Mice and Men which
references the Great Depression. Another one of his novels is about the Great Depression, it is
called The Grapes of Wrath. The Grapes of Wrath was about the lack of jobs, food, and money in
Oklahoma. The trials that the people went through were scary. People from all over the country
read The Grapes of Wrath. The Story of Oklahoma states that sophisticated New Yorkers had
heard about Okies, and many had read John Steinbeck s The Grapes of Wrath (Baird 340). This

The Impact Of Social Media On Marketing
Throughout the centuries the advances of technology have drastically changed the marketing field.
The 21st century was revolutionary for the development of social media. With the expansion of
social media, the marketing world needed to successfully reach a new audience. Before the
advances in technology, marketers had no interaction with their customers. The marketers would
simply throw advertisements in the face of the consumers. This strategy would result in short term
results and give businesses no true way to measure their work. Social media gave marketers an
inexpensive way to advertise that interacted with customers and measured the effectiveness of an
advertisement. This however meant marketingno longer consisted of a one sided relationship with
customers. Marketers had to sail into the uncharted waters of consumer needs. By interacting,
understanding, and communicating with customers, marketers began to see the impact of social
media had on marketing.
Marketing is the driving force behind the consumer economy. Marketing is based on four key
points: product, price, promotion, and placement. These are the key elements that any marketing
strategy can be broken down into. Production focuses on giving customers what they need.
In marketing, this is accomplished through research, including using surveys, focus groups, and
demographic analysis. The goal is to answer questions such as: Who makes up our audience? What
challenges are they facing? What solutions are they

An offense against a minor involves any of the following: an offense involving kidnapping... (42
U.S.C. В§16911).
Sex offenders vary in numerous ways such as age, gender, ethnicity, marital status, sexual
orientation, and societal or economic class. These differences are referred to as typologies
reported by Simons (2015) in the Sex Offender Management Assessment and Planning Initiative
(SOMAPI). According to the Simons, the most traditional typologies of sex offenders are rapists,
child sexual abusers, female offenders, and Internet sexual offenders.
Finkelhor (2009) gives the most inclusive definition child sexual abuse is the use of force/coercion
of a sexual nature either when the victim is younger than age 13 and the age difference between
the victim and the perpetrator is at least 5 years, or when the victim is between 13 and 16 and
the age difference between the victim and perpetrator is at least 10 years . Child sexual abusers
are typically someone the child or family knows. The most important distinction among child
sexual abusers is whether they are pedophilic or non pedophilic, because pedophilia is a strong
predictor of sexual recidivism (Simons, 2015).
Rape is defined as penetration, no matter how slight, of the vagina or anus with any body part or
object, or oral penetration by a sex organ of another person, without the consent of the victim

Language Strengths
Bart van Driel
Theory of Knowledge
Topic 2: the strengths and weaknesses of using language as a basis for knowledge using at least 2
ways of knowing?
Language has many weaknesses and strengths. Language has more limitations than strengths.
Strength of language is that it gives meaning to things. Another strength is how it can be mixed and
used to express emotions. These limitations are modern texting, the amount of different language
and how the meaning of things can get lost in translation. Another limitation of language is our
perspective of language.
Language gives meaning to things when you describe it. Language allows someone who is
blind for example to imagine what the colour red looks like. With language you can give a blind
person a perspective of what the colour red is going to look like when he sees. It can be
described with things, like blood but he wont understand that. However language also allows to
bind an emotion with the colour. with the colour dark red you could say you are angry and light

from the last century in the developed countries due to the revolution progress in medicine and
health mainly to chronic diseases. Alzheimer s disease (AD) is one of the most well known and
familiar diseases in the modern societies AD was first reported by Alois Alzheimer in 1907.The
AD is the most common type of dementia and a neurodegenerative disease characterized by the
damage of nerve cells in the cerebral cortex. The health statistics report that AD disease affects
more than 50 million people worldwide in 2003, it is expected this number to increase to 114
million by 2050.(1) It is reported that AD disease affect one in three people over the age 85.(2) The
symptoms of AD include depression, apathy, anxiety, agitation, aggression, delusions,
hallucinations, wandering, and inappropriate sexual behaviours.(3) AD patients suffer from
decrease in cognitive function and short term memory. AD is characterised by the formation of
insoluble clumps of protein or plaques, formed by proteins known as ОІ amyloids. These attach to
the cell surface of neurons and disabled nerve transmission. These plaques have been
demonstrated to contain relatively high levels of Zn2+, Cu2+ and Fe3+ (1 mM, 0.4 mM and 1

Mesopotamia is the place where humans first formed civilizations. Mesopotamia is called the cradle civilization. This is known as this because the people of this culture developed a large amount of things. For instance: government, written language, religion, agriculture, and large cities. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Mesopotamia there were unpredictable flooding. This caused the land To become desert like if there was only a little bit of rain. To solve this problem the Sumerians dug into the banks and created some irrigation canals that carried the water to fields. This allowed them to grow many crops. Also the villages and towns were on flat land with no natural barriers. This made it very difficult to defend and there was no standing armies. This caused the Sumerians to build mud brick walls around their cities for defense. Sumerians had a low supply of resources available for building and making tools. To solve this problem they traded cloth, grain, and crafting tools with the people from the mountains and deserts. In exchange they received stone, wood and metals. Another problem was that the people of Mesopotamia fought against each other for control over the Tigris and Euphrates. However this problem wasn t solved and and it still continues today. The people in Turkey wanted to build dams along the rivers for power and irrigation. Syria and Iraq wanted to use the water from these rivers for power and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Pros And Cons Of A Class Action Law Suit A class action law suit or class suit is a type of lawsuit where one of the parties is a group of people who are represented collectively by a member of that group. Some advantages of this is that it is lower costs of litigation because the expenses are shared among the class members who pay nothing up front and even then only if the lawyer is able to settle or their behalf or win do they pay, it is a stronger position because the very nature of a large group of people with a similar claim leads to a stronger negotiating position, etc. One con of this is that there is a lack of control because only the representative parties have decision making power to settle and to make other important decisions regarding the lawsuit and it takes time because ... Case Study Of Pericarditis Chest Pain From Pericarditis Alexis Lightbourn January 2, 2015 Pathophysiology 1st period Ms. White Abstract: A middle aged patient presented with symptoms conducive to a condition known as pericarditis, an inflammation of the sac surrounding the heart, most likely caused by a recent bacterial infection. The patient was, however, negative for pericardial effusion, or fluid collection around the heart, usually a tell tale sign of pericarditis. Given the patient s history of the recent Salmonella infection, a bacterial infection, it can be hypothesized that this was the cause of her pericarditis. Though it is favorable in these cases to know the etiology of the condition, it is not necessary for effective treatment of the pericarditis itself (Zayas, Anguita, ... According to the Association for Safe and International Travel, nearly 1.3 million individuals are killed in road related crashes each year. This accounts for 3,287 deaths each day. Among the statistics, is the fact, that car related accidents are the leading cause of death among young adults ages 15 through 29. It is also the second leading cause of death worldwide among young people ages 5 through 14. Unless action is taken, car related deaths are expected to become the fifth leading cause of death by 2030. One of the actions I would propose is changing the age where teenagers can first get their license. In Minnesota, for example, if you pass your road related test; you can have a license by 16. ... Why can an individual get a 27th D.W.I and nothing is done before hand? If we as a nation step up, we can prevent less drinking and driving related crashes. This rings true especially for repeated offenders. If you have 27th D.W.I. convictions, you should never be allowed to drive ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Every year around my birthday my family goes to Myrtle Beach on vacation, I actually just happened to be born then because they had been going that week for years. One specific trip to the beach when I was little I still remember because we took the truck which is very unusual and any other time when we went on long trips when I was younger I would usually go to sleep on the way there but whenever we would go in the truck I was awake and had fun. Today, Mitnick runs Mitnick SecurityConsulting, LLC testing security for both Fortune 500 companies and the FBI. This is in stark contrast to his humble beginnings in the LA area at 13 years old, in 1976, when Mitnick would find bus tickets in the trash and use specialized ticket punchers to get free bus rides. Free bus rides came as a result of Mitnick s ingenuity and his primary tool, social engineering. Mitnick soon added computerhacking to his repertoire in 1979 when he acquired... Many considered his punishment to be too harsh, arguing that he was excessively punished and that he did not cause any actual losses worthy of such a conviction. This speaks to the ethics practiced by Mitnick who always asserted that he was not a malicious hacker, never using his exploits for substantial financial gain, but merely practiced hacking out of curiosity and as a means of demonstration. Mitnick would use this mentality to build a security consulting firm and as a board member for Zimperium, a firm that develops systems to prevent mobile intrusion. Kevin Mitnick has spent his entire life taking advantage of technological exploits, building a skill set that would give him unprecedented access to some of the highest profile computer networks in the world. The only person she has was her husband but now her husband going to leave her and marry another woman. She had betrayed her father because of Jason. She did everything for Jason. So she does not have family to return. This is very emotional because when we feel sad, we just need someone to talk to or someone who with us to encourage us. The three strikes law is one of the most modernized laws in the criminal justice system of the United States, where it has been created in the efforts to reduce and prevent crimes in the states especially for required sentencing laws for repeat criminal offenders. In 2003, more than half of the United States had adopted the three strikes law; in addition, the law is raised when criminals have committed their third felonies. Therefore, these laws execute a harsher penalty of a minimum of 25 years of a life sentence for criminals who have committed a crimefor the third time even though their crimes that are not evil. There were many arguments raised when many of the criminals were sent to prison for 25 years for a very small crime such as petty theft. • 18. Ethical Theory Of Utilitarianism In this essay, I will attempt to explore the ethical theory of Utilitarianism and the impression it has left on me. The Utilitarian theory suggests that it is morally right to seek the greatest good for the greatest number of people. The morally right act is the act which results in the most happiness for the people of this world. Nature has placed mankind under the governance of two sovereign masters, pain and pleasure. It is for them alone to point out what we ought to do. (Bentham quoted in DupreМЃ, 2013:49)Every person s individual actions must be done with the view that their actions will in turn result in greater happiness, not just their own personal happiness but that of every person affected. And how can happiness be measured accurately? The theory of utilitarianism is based on the idea that the action or choice that results in the greater good should be carried out. But what is good? How can you measure and compare the goodness of separate actions? Every individual will have a different perception on what good is depending on how it will impact on their own personal lives. Truth is, everybody will face trials in life, but it s how people react to them that makes a difference. In the article, Wise Words From Wise Leaders, by Kenyon Craig, it says, We all face adversity at some point in our lives. Our success lies in how we handle it. Many of us allow challenges to defeat us. What I say to you is this: accept your challenge head on. If you focus on developing into a stronger and wiser individual, you will succeed not in spite of, but because of the very challenges you face. The most successful people in life don t get that way from having it easy in life. When a person accepts a challenge and learns from their mistakes and hardships that is when they are able to rise above the rest. Why? Because they understand concepts that others couldn t even begin to grasp. They know the importance of life and just how drastically it can change. I love the beach, not so much for going swimming or getting wet but more to lay in the sand and just relax to the soothing sound of the waves, especially nice in this hot weather. I decided to bring my sister for the ride so it s not to lonely and set up around a more deserted part for more concentration and relaxation. I also chose Dockweiler Beach because there I could get a sense of all the 5 ancient elements all in one sitting, with all the elements interacting. Water clashing against the sand to create a calming sound, the wind riding against the waves causes a cool chill down my spine and the man made fireto keep warm. I can feel the earth element in the sand getting in my toes and all over my clothes to later find more in my underwear. I see the fire element being used to light the bonfires along the beach to keep people warm on the windy beach or to probably make S mores. The water element as I can see is the giant ocean in front of me going as far as I can see with no ending. Another reason I don t like going into the water, the ocean is terrifying especially when you don t know how to swim. In these 4 states of matter we have solid representing the earth element, liquid representing the water element, gas representing the air element, and plasma representing the fire element. Yet as it stands so clumsily today, there is no assurance the death penalty emits for the future. The death penalty is discriminatory against social and economical aspects of society. Studies show that starting in 1977, most of those placed on death row are guilty of killing white victims, and that African Americans enumerate one third of those executions. The most evident factor determining execution is the ethnicity of the victim, which is extremely biased, even if racial hostility is still inextricable to civilization. Even with the current trend pushed by consumers awareness related to increasing sustainability throughout companies processes and activities, at the end, they always rely on profit to pay its employees, suppliers and shareholders. If we think with a strictly economic point of view, the first impression about sustainability is not a positive one. A simple thought might consider all the money spent with ISO certifications, GRI reports, cleaner production, and health and safety as an obstacle towards the maximization of profits or, at best, as necessary money used to fulfill all the legal requirements. By this old way of thinking, neither employees nor shareholders would like to see money being used to support some educational or social initiative instead of being used to pay profit sharing or dividends. For very long time, this dominant thought, together with the lack of awareness about the environmental and social impacts caused by companies, led to decades of a debate corporations against society and environment . Even though this debate persists nowadays influenced by left wing thinkers, big part of society and the executives started to see this relation as a synergy instead of as a competition. • 29. The Lateral And Axial Resolution Of The Microscope The lateral and axial resolution of the microscope play a key role in biological studies to investigate the intricate internal mechanisms of the cell. There is a fundamental limitation with the lateral resolution of the microscope due to the finite wavelength of light. Although, during the past few years, a large number of solutions have been presented to deal with this problem, e.g., scanning electron microscopy(SEM), scanning tunnel microscopy (STM), atomic force microscopy (AFM), optical microscopy is the most interesting high resolution microscopic techniques because of its capability and compatibility of non contact, minimally invasive observation and measurement of live specimens. However, Conventional far field microscopic methods suffer from lack of the sufficient spatial resolution for resolving subcellular structures due to the Abbe diffractionlimit. This limitation (about 200 nm) caused the emerging of the many super resolution microscopic methods such as Stimulated Emission Depletion (STED) Microscopy, Structured Illumination Microscopy (SIM), Stochastic Optical Reconstruction Microscopy (STORM), Photo Activated Localization Microscopy (PALM) and so forth. Due to its resolution beyond the diffraction limit, its axial sectioning capability (the removal of out of focus blur), and its high speed imaging, SIM has been applied more than other mentioned super resolution techniques in fluorescence microscopy. • 31. Martin Luther, And His Concept Of Christianity This is an essay about Martin Luther, and his concept of Christianity. As a student and a unbiased Christian, I enjoy studying all types of religions, and elements that encompass them. Luther began his religious career as an Augustinian Monk in the Roman Catholic Church. So, Luther was initially loyal to the papacy, and even after many theological conflicts, he attempted to bring about his understanding with the Church. But this was a contradiction not to suffer because in his later years, Luther waged a continual battle with the papacy. Luther was to become a professor of biblical exegesis at Wittenberg where, in 1957, he posted his critique of the Roman Catholic Church s teachings and practices. This is otherwise known as The Ninety Five Theses, which is usually considered to be the original document of the Reformation. The Reformation was very controversial then, and, from a historical viewpoint, it still is today. Luther played a large part in the movement, and I was interested I doing a research to uncover what was the issue with religion. Basically, this document was an indictment of the venality of the Roman Catholic Church, particularly the widespread practice of selling indulgences in association with the sacrament of penance. Luther s beliefs on the matter were that after confession, absolution relied upon the sinner s faith and God s Divine Grace rather than the intervention of a priest. • 32. And Then There Were Three And Then There Were Three From author to appearance, purpose to publisher, the creation of the Lyrical Ballads was far from simple. Though the blank verse Tintern Abbey is one of the other poems hidden in the back of just one edition of William Wordsworth and Samuel Taylor Coleridge s ballads, the pastoral ode best represents the Wordsworthian anxiety that casts a shadow over the entire, complex publicationof the LyricalBallads. Tintern Abbey was not meant to be a part of the Lyrical Ballads, but was added at the last minute, when the poems were already in the printing press (Moorman). Though hasty and not quite fitting, Wordsworth s final addition to the first volume of the Lyrical Ballads became its most illustrious... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Cottle returned to Bristol with The Rime of the Ancient Mariner in hand, as well as an agreed upon title for the whole collection, the Lyrical Ballads. After Cottle left, Coleridge wrote him a letter further explaining the mission of the Lyrical Ballads: We deem that the volumes offered to you are to a certain degree one work, in kind tho not in degree, as an Ode is one work that our different poems are as stanzas, good relatively rather than absolutely: Mark you, I say in kind tho not in degree. (cited by Jordan) The Lyrical Ballads gained a specific and radical purpose that Wordsworth and Coleridge would have to defend. Thus, Wordsworth began to show deep concern for his hard work and its revolutionary mission. The primary poet often visited Bristol over the next few months to oversee the production of the poems (Rannie). As the purpose of the work specified, so did the appearance. Coleridge also demanded, with Wordsworth s support, that there be 18 lines per page and the lines closely printed (cited by Jordan). So, Wordsworth made sure that these details, along with the arrangement of the ballads, were in concert with his and Coleridge s wishes. Wordsworth made his last visit to Bristol before the poems went to the press on July 2, after packing up his belongings from Alfoxden and dropping them off with the Coleridges in Nether Stowey. This situation occurred last year, September of 2015, not long after starting to take classes at Teachers College. The class in which this incident occurred was Fundamentals of Cooperation, Conflict Resolution, and Mediation in Different Institutional Contexts. I was assigned to a group at the time by the professor of the class. I will speak in third person regarding this incident. The scapegoat was created based on an incident that occurred during one of the first team meetings. The group as a whole were discussing the homework assignment from the previous week. The task was to give a personal definition of the word conflict. As different members of the group mentioned their definitions, the soon to be scapegoat illustrated a difference of opinion. The creators do the same thing with the bowl of Doritos. The camera also zooms in on the game controller in the boy s hand. Through putting the focus on the boy dropping the game controller, the creators lets the audience know that things have just gotten serious and that something is about to happen. Aside from the different types of appeals, pathos and ethos, and camera focus; the creators are sending a couple of messages with the son s actions. The first message is to get your own Doritos and not take someone else s. This message comes across when the boy slaps the man and tells him to put his Dorito chip back in the bowl. By the son not being willing to share even one of his Doritos, the creators are telling the viewers not to share their Doritos with any one. The second message is that Doritos are just as important as mothers. The viewers can see this as the boy not only tells the man not to touch his mother but also to keep his hands off the boys Doritos. The 21st century was revolutionary for the development of social media. With the expansion of social media, the marketing world needed to successfully reach a new audience. Before the advances in technology, marketers had no interaction with their customers. The marketers would simply throw advertisements in the face of the consumers. This strategy would result in short term results and give businesses no true way to measure their work. Social media gave marketers an inexpensive way to advertise that interacted with customers and measured the effectiveness of an advertisement. Sex offenders vary in numerous ways such as age, gender, ethnicity, marital status, sexual orientation, and societal or economic class. These differences are referred to as typologies reported by Simons (2015) in the Sex Offender Management Assessment and Planning Initiative (SOMAPI). According to the Simons, the most traditional typologies of sex offenders are rapists, child sexual abusers, female offenders, and Internet sexual offenders. • 53. Language Strengths Bart van Driel Theory of Knowledge Topic 2: the strengths and weaknesses of using language as a basis for knowledge using at least 2 ways of knowing? Language has many weaknesses and strengths. Language has more limitations than strengths. Strength of language is that it gives meaning to things. Another strength is how it can be mixed and used to express emotions. These limitations are modern texting, the amount of different language and how the meaning of things can get lost in translation. Another limitation of language is our perspective of language. Language gives meaning to things when you describe it. Language allows someone who is blind for example to imagine what the colour red looks like. With language you can give a blind person a perspective of what the colour red is going to look like when he sees. It can be described with things, like blood but he wont understand that.
