Donald Trump And Sander s Influence On Political Maverickss
As time has passed, many changes have occurred; be it from farming to industry, or from writing
letters to sending text messages, change is inevitable. In recent years, a major change has begun to
occur, one that is finding expression in the political sphere. American society has started to turn
away from long established values of respecting tradition toward a more contemporary appreciation
for individuality and change. Political mavericks have become more successful in recent years due
to overall dissatisfaction with the current established system. More Americans have found
themselves discontent with aspects of the political sphere, such as the lack of third party
representation, for example. Political mavericks capitalizing on society s... Show more content on

Celine Lau wrote, Trump has continually broken any and all unspoken rules about public speaking,
denouncing political correctness, which many of his supporters find to be a refreshing change
(2016). By not adhering to the traditional political rhetoric styles in his speeches, Donald Trump has
caught the attention of many Americans. Also, much like Bernie Sanders, Trump has made
statements against the political establishment, as seen in his commercial, Donald Trump s
Argument For America. The repetition and constant downgrading of the political establishment
appeals to United States citizens who are also dissatisfied with the current political system, and it
was these appeals that helped Donald Trump win the

The Process Of Deduction Logic
In social research, traditional and non traditional methods are used to explore and examine research
queries and relate methods of data collection and observation. One conventionally accepted method
is through deductive logic. Deductive logic is research that begins with a theory and arrives at a
specific expectation through a series of scientific steps. Both explanatory and exploratory
techniques can be used in deductive. In contrast, inductive methods, in which researchers examine
specific data sets and detect general patterns, are considered non traditional. In inductive logic, the
identification of empirical patterns result in a generalization about some social process (Schutt,
2012, p. 45).
The process of deduction logic begins with statements, also known as premises , that are assumed to
be true. A determination is made regarding additional factors that must be true if the premises are
true. A special logical structure, known as modus ponens, is a rule asserting that a hypothetical
proposition according to which if the antecedent be affirmed, the consequent is affirmed (Merriam
Webster, 2015). The form of any argument having the structure of modus ponens is as follows:
Given P, if P then Q, so, Q. Using this structure, any argument is stated as the major premise, the
minor premise, and the conclusion. In this way, the statements are evaluated in terms of validity
and soundness.
The strength of deductive reasoning is its consideration of validity and

Math Analysis On The Classroom
It was eight fifty five when I entered the lobby of Drexel Plaza to go to my class: Introduction to
Math Analysis 101. I walked to classroom fifteen not expecting anything. I never expect
anything anyway in an easy math class required for all nursing students. It may have also been
because I am a confirmed nerd. In the school setting, people are divided into groups or
categories. Students are characterized by a specific characteristic that defines them into a
subgroup of school identity and status. There is the nerd group, the geek squad, the jocks, the
dramatics, the clown, the teacher s pet and the list goes on. Throughout school, I tried my best to
not fall into any category. I was well rounded and did not focus on one specific activity. I just
wanted to be a boring, random student that was invisible. Little did I know, however, that I would
be placed into a group with one single event.
When I was in fifth grade, I watched a Disney Channel show, Wizards of Waverly Place
. In the
television show, it was common knowledge that one of the characters, Justin Russo, was a true
nerd. Every action he made from studying to having knowledge of numerous useless facts
exemplified his extreme diligence and passion. In this particular episode I watched, Justin was
overwhelmed with homework and tasks. As he walks down the stairs, he exclaims, If I skip
flossing today in my hygiene routine, I can save myself ten minutes and I could get this done. As I
sat watching this part, I thought

Comparison Of Orthodox And Reform Judaism
Judaism is one of the major monotheistic religions of the world and the oldest compared to
Christianity and Islam. It emerged in the Middle East over 3500 years ago. Its main belief is that
God appointed the Jews to be his chosen people in order to set an example of holiness and ethical
behaviour to the world. Therefore, attributing all scripts to be abiding laws. However, in modern
days and with the societal and ideological changes, many movements within Judaismare noted
worldwide. Amongst the main restructuring movements are: Reform and Orthodox. The difference
among the two, in a simple reasoning, can be explained by the degree to which traditional
observance is obligatory. The two can be consecutively classified as being modern and liberal,...

Reform Judaism take a more subjective approach in religious law as it s interpreted according to
human judgment. It is due to their perception of Torah being written by human and therefore try to

So far the essay examined the major or general difference between Orthodox and Jewish movement.
Yet, many other specific differences to understand where Reform and Orthodox Jews exists. As an
example, gender separation is an important practice to Orthodox in Synagogues. Men and women
are seated in separate sections to ensure modesty and attention. On the other hand, Reform

Another interesting difference is in the definition of real Jew for each movement. For the
Orthodox Jews, a Jew is the one who has a Jewish mother or complete an Orthodox conversion to
be considered a Jew. In addition to this strict definition, the Reform Jews also perceive those with
Jewish fathers who were raised Jewish as

Active Versus Passive Learning Essays
Most students these days just think they have to go to class, pay attention, write some notes and
they will do fine. That may be true for some people but if they were to use a more active learning
approach instead of passive, they could do even better. Active learning is a learning approach that
gets the student more involved which helps lead to a better understanding and idea of the material
being learned (VickyRN, 2009). Passive learningis the common classroom learning approach
where you listen to a teacher and read information (VickyRN, 2009). If students were more aware
of the benefits of active learning and the difference between active and passive learning, they could
achieve higher academic results and may even enjoy it more. Many... Show more content on

Expert learners are people who know their learning goals and do their best to reach those goals
(O Brien Moran, 2012). They start early, come up with strategies to help them achieve their
goals and are often satisfied with their results (O Brien Moran, 2012). Novice learners however,
have no goals, they cram the night before a test and just do not give a full effort into their
learning and are usually disappointed with their results (O Brien Moran, 2012). Expert learners
often engage in self regulated learning. Someone who is a self regulated learner is said to begin
with setting goals, planning how to achieve those goals taking into account their time constraints
as well as their strength and weaknesses related to that specific learning task (O Brien Moran,
2012). Once they set their goals and have a strategy, they carry on while monitoring their results
(O Brien Moran, 2012). If their strategies are working well for them, they continue on, but if they
aren t, they adjust until they find something that works for them and helps them reach their goal
(O Brien Moran, 2012). Being an expert learner would be a great technique to use if you want to
learn more actively because it gets you more involved with your work and you are not just showing
up to class, writing some notes and never looking at them again. Another technique we have talked
about in class that would help students learn more actively is working in groups. Working

Analysis Of Blade Runner And Frankenstein
The question of what makes something truly alive and human has been hotly disputed for an
incredibly long time. Different viewpoints have different criteria, but all roads eventually lead to
the same conclusion. Humanism is, at it s most basic form, the ability to objectively think and
make decisions based upon one s past experiences and moral compass. Blade Runnerand
Frankenstein both confront the issue of non humans displaying humancharacteristics. Replicants
and the Monster both are on the very outskirts of humanity, but they are capable of rational thought
and compassion, along with the pursuit of happiness. This has created a sort of creepy feeling, with
our modern perspective of humanism encroaching on the progressive views of the two stories in
question. Blade Runner and Frankenstein have a warped concept of human life in the way of the
place of science in the creation of life, the prejudice of xenophobia, and an uncomfortableness with
one s values of true humanism. Shelley s Frankenstein demonstrates the uneasiness that comes with
creating life through unnatural means. Blade Runner also confronts the inner conflict of Deckard
as he wrestles with his feelings for Rachael and his mission to terminate the other replicants. Tying
the two together, both artificial humans in the stories are very similar. The beings are
amalgamations of parts, human flesh in Frankenstein and mechanical parts in Blade Runner. The
semi humans are both interested in blending in, along

How To Recruit Boy Scouts
Young men, from ages 11 to 18, in the Boy Scouts of America have the option to experience a trip
called Klondike. On this trip, various teams from each troop compete with their fellow scouts with
their mental abilities in a competitions of speed and skill. Every team must run with dog sleds
pulled by scouts, going to as many stations as possible to earn points on what they can do to
survive in certain scenarios with the skills and supplies they have in their sleds. The team with the
most points and as the quickest time wins the competition. These experiences prepare these young
men for future occupations and possible survival situations. Without these experiences and
knowledge one learns, many would be lost in these situations. Every young man should be required

Punk Rock Essay
Punk rock is a unique and changing musical genre that was born in both England and the United
States in the late 1970s. A largely underground music scene with a reliance on a rejection of
societies norms, dismissal of capitalism and consumption, heavy reliance on community, and a
strong attitude of do it yourself and self empowerment, punk continues to have a large influence on
the contemporary music scene. Punk rock, however, has faced issues when dealing with concepts
of sex and gender. Bands within the scene are usually composed of males, women are objectified
in song lyrics, and masculine values like aggressiveness and violence are often glamorized,
especially in sub genres of punk such as hardcore punk. But women have managed,... Show more

After the demise of many hardcore bands in the mid Eighties, bands such as Bad Religion kept
the scene going, and were influences towards punk bands that would later go on to much
mainstream success such as Green Day, The Offspring, and Blink 182. One specific moment in
punk rock history that deals specifically with women, as well as issues of sex and gender, is the
development of the Riot Grrrl movement in the early 1990 s. This movement came mostly out
of the punk rock scene in Olympia, WA and Washington D.C. Women found themselves pushed
out of punk due to the increasing aggressiveness in the punk scene, especially at concerts . Bands
like Bikini Kill, and fan publishes magazines ( zines ) such as Jigsaw began to address the issue
of women in punk rock. The first Riot Grrl Convention was held in Washington, D.C. in 1992.
There were seminars dealing with writing zines and buying guitars, as well as dealing with eating
disorder and fighting sexism. Punk rock, and specifically the Riot Grrrl movement, has been used
to empower women and give them control over their lives. Punk s celebration of the individual,
and its embrace of those who challenge the norms and standards of society, made it the perfect
culture for women who refused to accept society s notions of femininity and gender roles. This is a
tradition that has a long history within feminist theory. Groups such as the Radicalesbians and the

Taking On Multiple Perspectives For An American Adult
The idea of taking on multiple perspectives can be applied to many scenarios, from making
decisions as the president of a nation to running a day care. One of the most accessible
perspectives for an American adult is the small business. By engaging in the perspective of other
people at a business you either work at or are a customerat, you gain a certain understanding that
makes you more relaxed and more pleasant. For example we can take an almost universal
experience in the developed world, ordering food at a fast food restaurant.
Let s say there is a line of customers during the lunch rush at your average fast food restaurant. The
line is taking extraordinarily long because there is only one person running the register and one
person ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Next in line is person B. Person B realizes that everyone in line is there for food and must be just
as hungry as they are. He realizes that there are only two employees and that they are working
very hard to serve as many people as they are, perhaps they have been in that situation. Person B
has a greater understanding of the perspective of those around him and in turn is much calmer than
person A.
This example of taking on multiple perspectives shares in Zhuangzi s philosophy but is different
from his examples. The closest example would be the story of the butcher. A good butcher changes
his chopper every year because he chips it. And average butcher changes it every month because he
breaks it (Zhuangzi, ch.3). This is demonstrating two people, doing essentially the same thing, but
the way they do it makes their life more or less difficult. As the butchers gain a greater
understanding of the oxen they become more proficient.
When I first began cutting up oxen, I did not see anything but oxen. Three years later, I couldn t
see the whole ox. And now, I encounter them with spirit and don t look with my eye ... That s why
after nineteen years the blade of my chopper is still as though fresh from the grindstone. (Zhuangzi,
Ch.3)
In the restaurant example person B is a better customer than person A. In something as simple as
being a customer it is safe to say that becoming irrationally upset would be analogous to

Development The team development takes place in five stages. Bruce Tuckman had conducted
research on various teams and given the five stages of team development. The team process can
be observed in all the five stages of team development. The five stages of Tuckman are: 1.
Forming: The forming stage of development is a period of orientation and getting acquainted.
Members break the ice and test one another for friendship possibilities and task orientation.
Uncertainty is high during this stage, and members usually accept whatever power or authority
is offered by either formal or informal leaders. During this initial stage, members are concerned
about such things as What is expected of me? What behavior is acceptable? Will I fit in? During
the forming stage, the team leader should provide time for members to get acquainted with one
another and encourage them to engage in informal social discussions (Engleberg Wynn, 2012). 2.
Storming: During the storming stage, individual personalities emerge. People become more
assertive in clarifying their roles and what is expected of them. This stage is marked by conflict
and disagreement. People may disagree over their perceptions of the team s goals or how to
achieve them. Members may jockey for position, and

Narratives are the culturally historical symbols and memories nation s use to uphold modern
values, customs, and practices. Through the course of history and the collective memory of the
people, a variety of narratives are formed; and while some last in the mainstream, other narratives
fade into the background of the national and practiced culture. However, these narratives do not
necessarily disappear, and some remain relatively strong in the mentalities of the public―even in
times of legitimate and/or long lasting hegemonic values that stand in opposition. This paper will

Naturalism Literary Period
Naturalist writing portrays individuality within a character allowing one to obtain humanistic
themes from these literary works. Naturalists utilize mundane monotonous lives and reveal the
heroine within, when all (environment, opportunities, intuition) seems out of control. This type of
literature was found relatable during the rapid urbanization and naturalization after the Civil War,
where many in bustling developing cities suffered from poverty and its poorly prevented
consequences. The American naturalist movement was important due to the introduction of themes
involving popular apprehension during this time period including; man vs. nature, man vs. society,
sex trade, wasted potential due to uncontrollable forces, and man s... Show more content on

Also unlike romanticism, Zola uses his characters as a device for symbolism rather than a hero for
readers to look up to. In these naturalistic writing of Zola, there is also much emphasis of people
working together in groups, the literary references are greatly due to the labor wars that were taking
place during the turn of the century. Zola also took frankness about sexual functions much further
than the early Realists had dared; and it is this, combined with a pervasive pessimism about
humanity, which chiefly characterizes the Naturalist novel (Brians). Americans were attracted to
this relatable coarse naturalism, more than that of realism.
Though realism and naturalism were introduced through the protest against romanticism, without
these tragic tales of fiction, the stories we know today, such as the all American detective story
would not be a part of even our most elementary entertainment.
Naturalism s main attraction to the American people was due to the timeframe in which it
introduced its morals and themes to the population. The repugnant forces and perplexing
relationships in life are represented through naturalist literature. Plots in literary naturalism follow a
prominent decline. These plots often elaborate a character s general worsening. Naturalist stories
tend to be written in an omniscient third person point of view. This format presents an objective
tale of a main

Muriel Ou Le Temps D Un Retour Themes
It was 1963, eighteen years since the end of a conflict considered by many to be the deadliest in
human history. The European continent, struggling to adapt to a postwar world, began
experiencing shifts in the international balance of power; shifts that resulted in the seemingly
invulnerable colonial system falling victim to numerous episodes of unrest and innumerable efforts
at decolonization. One such effort took place in the French military colony of Algeria, beginning in
1954 with a socialist political party launching a series of escalating guerrilla attacks against the
European community and ending the previous year with a declaration of independence that came at
the cost of hundreds of thousands of lives. As both sides continued to pick up the pieces, a French
filmmaker used the decolonization waras the basis for a motion picture that would acknowledge
both the scale and the hazards of historical amnesia.
Few postwar films depict an armed conflict s far reaching impact on a community more accurately
than Alain Resnais s Muriel ou le Temps d un retour (1963), which testifies about the relationship
between past and present by concentrating on two seemingly different individuals with a shared
inability to move beyond the past. Following in the footsteps of Resnais s debut feature Hiroshima
mon amour (1959), a film that also revolves around the vagaries of memory and time, Muriel does
not look back on the past with fond nostalgia but with a crushing self delusion that

The Effect of Slavery on the Identity of Cuba Essay
The Effect of Slavery on the Identity of Cuba
The Caribbean is a diverse region with a unique history. The progress and advancement of each
island complied with the European country in control of it at the time. The Caribbean was
conquered and colonized soon after Columbus discovery in 1492. A similar aspect of the
heterogeneous region has been its plantations. The plantations were an important aspect of the
cultural history of the Caribbean. Mintz believed that the plantations tied the colonies in the
Caribbean to the European country that was colonizing it. He states:

Mintz believed that the plantation system was something positive that helped to shape each colony
into what it presently is, he states the plantation system was not only an agricultural device; it also
became the basis for entire societal design (Mintz 27). Benitez Rojo, also believing that the
plantation system was something positive, believed so because they created an economy in the
primarily primitive Caribbean and it help them construct a structured economical system.
Slavery in the Caribbean also played the role of shaping each colony s identity and culture. When
Europe began importing and shipping in slaves from Africa into the colonies, miscegenation
occurred. As a result of slavery, a diverse Caribbean was created. It was molded by each
individual s island history and how it dealt with slavery, the integration of cultures, acculturation,
and colonialism. The importation of about four million African slaves to the Caribbean was
mainly what made these islands the melting pot that it is today. Today, Cuba is one of the most
racially mixed islands in the Caribbean. Could the racial mixture possibly be the result of the
impact of slavery in Cuba during the period of the colony s colonization? Could the Afro Cuban
culture be the result of miscegenation, which was impacted by slavery in the island?

Betty and Moody drove an upbeat and placated wedded life. In a marriage where the life partners

Forecasting Method
Time series techniques are the most popular quantitative method. These techniques use statistical
methods for projecting from historical data. Quantitative techniques are preferred when
appropriate data are available. The main assumption is that the historical pattern will continue
into the future. The two main types of time series forecasting are average smoothing and
exponential smoothing. The moving average is simply a series of arithmetic averages.
Predicting sales for next year is simple. The actual sales for a certain number of years is added,
and then divided by the number of years used to get the moving average. A weighted moving
average is obtained by assigning a specific weight to previous years. The sum of all weights must
equal one. Recent years are given a higher weight (Namvar, 2000, p.13).
Exponential smoothing is simply a subtype of the weighted moving average. A new forecast is a
weighted sum of actual variables (usually sales) in the current year and the weighted forecast of

Force 4: Bargaining Power of Buyers High
Walgreens is the largest national retail pharmacy chain and is considered the leader in innovative
drugstore retailing. The bargaining power of buyers is determined by two factors: price sensitivity
and relative bargaining power. Walgreens has several distinct divisions within a store that include a
pharmacy, nonprescription drugs, and general merchandise. Because these products and services
are undifferentiated for the most part, consumers are more sensitive to an increase in price. To
combat this price sensitivity, every aspect of Walgreens competitive strategy is focused on
convenience, technical innovation, and customer service, which has allowed the company to
achieve financial success while improving the level of service. Since Walgreens holds a large
percentage of the industry market share, they are able to help set the rules of competition but must
be conscious of the consumers superior bargaining power due to the number of competitors.

This idea was no different with the establishment of HKD. Aside from this worldwide perception
that Disney has HKD sought to bring visitors for other reasons as well. One of the main
strategies was to offer this experience at a very affordable rate. The price for a one day was
$295 in Hong Kong which is equivalent to $38 in the United States. Along with these low rates
there were also many special offers that were constantly available to visitors. These offers
included special rates for certain occasions, discounted rates for children and senior citizens and
the ability to purchase packages through travel agencies. In fact HKD encouraged the purchase of
tickets through travel agents and on their website. They limited the number tickets that were able
to be bought by walk up visitors to keep the wait to enter the park at a minimum. Another corporate
strategy was the emphasis that Disney put on their employees or cast member as they refer to them

accustomed to the expectations of a Walt Disney employee. Along with this extensive training each
employee was required to speak multiple languages in order to cater to all guests that may be

Hydrogen Peroxide And Catalase Reaction Lab
The rate of reaction between Catalase and the hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) can vary depending on
many factors including the enzyme concentration in a solution. In this investigation, the rate of
reaction will be measured by the change in temperature of the liquefied spinach (catalase) over a
period of 30 seconds, once the hydrogen peroxide(H2O2) has been added into the solution.
It is expected that the change in temperature will initially increase as the concentration of the
Catalase increases in the hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). As more Catalase is added into the hydrogen
peroxide (H2O2), the rate of reaction is expected to increase due to a higher concentration of
enzyme present and therefore a greater frequency of successful collisions between the enzyme and
substrates resulting in a faster breakdown of the substrate. However, as the concentration of the
Catalase approaches 100% concentrated, it is expected for the change in temperature (reaction rate)
to plateau. This occurs as there is only a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The hypothesis stated that if the concentration of Catalase increases from 25%, 50%, 75%, and

into four different concentrations of Catalase (25%, 50%, 75%, and 100%). The temperature of the
Catalase was measured before and 30 seconds after the hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) had been added.

of Christian Clarity says that All men being thus (by divine providence) ranked into two sorts,
rich and poor; under the first are comprehended all such as are able to live comfortably by their
own means duly improved; and all other are poor according to the former distribution (Winthrop

Cochlea Research Paper
The most known part of the auditory system is the cochlea, which is a spiral fluid filled tube

organs of the auditory systembecause it has many functions that are vital to our hearing and
processing of soundwaves. The cochlea accomplishes an analysis of frequency with a great degree
of resolution but it filters out the ringing noise, which would usually be present in such high degree
frequency resolution. After the soundwaves enter the cochlea, where they are translated into the
vibrations which produce waves that travel... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not all of these parts of the brain could be considered to be in the auditory system since they often
overlap with the visual system and others. Some evidence suggests that inside the brain the
auditory cortex doesn t just receive the inputs from auditory senses but is impacted from more than
one sensory stimuli since the auditory cortex is spread out extensively inside the brain to sensory
areas. Because of so many different complications in the auditory cortex and how it is connected to
parts of the brain that are not involved in hearing the scientist have decided to only define the
auditory cortex to be correlated with hearing if the inputs come from the medial geniculate body in
the thalamus of the brain. The rest of the inputs that are correlated with the auditory cortex but are
not received from the medial geniculate body of the thalamus are mentioned as auditory

Why Does Shakespeare Use Comedy In Hamlet
Shakespeare uses comedy in many of his books, plays, and movies. Although this comedy is not
explicitly shown throughout his works, they are hidden in order to provide a release from all of
the tension/drama of all of the tension in his writing. In this play/book, Hamlet (the main character)
uses comedy in order to relax or calm himself while going through a rough patch in life. Many of
the other characters used the same method in order to take away from the tension. All throughout
this play/book, the characters used comedyin different ways, yet they still are a breakaway from
the focus. Beginning in Act 2, Scene 2, lines 164 178, Hamlet proclaims that Polonius is a
fishmonger for selling his own daughter Ophelia out.

Do it, England, For like the hectic in my blood he rages, And thou must cure me. Till I know tis

The messenger is informing the people of false information, which is going to cause a reaction

spot for the suicidal Ophelia. This entire scene was majority about how the gravediggers feel
about Ophelia s death and other people who have passed on. They come up with different
reasons as to why she would have decided to commit such a horrible action. It is strange to see
gravediggers who enjoy this particular job so much that they even play with the dug up bones of
past people. Hamlet did not take the news of Ophelia very well, which made him act in a strange
and new way towards her brother. At the end of this book, Hamlet is having a conversation with
Horatio and Oscric. This quote is illustrated in Act 5, Scene 2, lines

  • 2. Donald Trump And Sander s Influence On Political Maverickss As time has passed, many changes have occurred; be it from farming to industry, or from writing letters to sending text messages, change is inevitable. In recent years, a major change has begun to occur, one that is finding expression in the political sphere. American society has started to turn away from long established values of respecting tradition toward a more contemporary appreciation for individuality and change. Political mavericks have become more successful in recent years due to overall dissatisfaction with the current established system. More Americans have found themselves discontent with aspects of the political sphere, such as the lack of third party representation, for example. Political mavericks capitalizing on society s... Celine Lau wrote, Trump has continually broken any and all unspoken rules about public speaking, denouncing political correctness, which many of his supporters find to be a refreshing change (2016). By not adhering to the traditional political rhetoric styles in his speeches, Donald Trump has caught the attention of many Americans. Also, much like Bernie Sanders, Trump has made statements against the political establishment, as seen in his commercial, Donald Trump s Argument For America. The repetition and constant downgrading of the political establishment appeals to United States citizens who are also dissatisfied with the current political system, and it was these appeals that helped Donald Trump win the ... • 3. The Process Of Deduction Logic In social research, traditional and non traditional methods are used to explore and examine research queries and relate methods of data collection and observation. One conventionally accepted method is through deductive logic. Deductive logic is research that begins with a theory and arrives at a specific expectation through a series of scientific steps. Both explanatory and exploratory techniques can be used in deductive. In contrast, inductive methods, in which researchers examine specific data sets and detect general patterns, are considered non traditional. In inductive logic, the identification of empirical patterns result in a generalization about some social process (Schutt, 2012, p. 45). The process of deduction logic begins with statements, also known as premises , that are assumed to be true. A determination is made regarding additional factors that must be true if the premises are true. A special logical structure, known as modus ponens, is a rule asserting that a hypothetical proposition according to which if the antecedent be affirmed, the consequent is affirmed (Merriam Webster, 2015). The form of any argument having the structure of modus ponens is as follows: Given P, if P then Q, so, Q. Using this structure, any argument is stated as the major premise, the minor premise, and the conclusion. In this way, the statements are evaluated in terms of validity and soundness. The strength of deductive reasoning is its consideration of validity and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I walked to classroom fifteen not expecting anything. I never expect anything anyway in an easy math class required for all nursing students. It may have also been because I am a confirmed nerd. In the school setting, people are divided into groups or categories. Students are characterized by a specific characteristic that defines them into a subgroup of school identity and status. There is the nerd group, the geek squad, the jocks, the dramatics, the clown, the teacher s pet and the list goes on. Throughout school, I tried my best to not fall into any category. I was well rounded and did not focus on one specific activity. I just wanted to be a boring, random student that was invisible. Little did I know, however, that I would be placed into a group with one single event. When I was in fifth grade, I watched a Disney Channel show, Wizards of Waverly Place . In the television show, it was common knowledge that one of the characters, Justin Russo, was a true nerd. Every action he made from studying to having knowledge of numerous useless facts exemplified his extreme diligence and passion. In this particular episode I watched, Justin was overwhelmed with homework and tasks. As he walks down the stairs, he exclaims, If I skip flossing today in my hygiene routine, I can save myself ten minutes and I could get this done. As I sat watching this part, I thought ... • 8. Active Versus Passive Learning Essays Most students these days just think they have to go to class, pay attention, write some notes and they will do fine. That may be true for some people but if they were to use a more active learning approach instead of passive, they could do even better. Active learning is a learning approach that gets the student more involved which helps lead to a better understanding and idea of the material being learned (VickyRN, 2009). Passive learningis the common classroom learning approach where you listen to a teacher and read information (VickyRN, 2009). They start early, come up with strategies to help them achieve their goals and are often satisfied with their results (O Brien Moran, 2012). Novice learners however, have no goals, they cram the night before a test and just do not give a full effort into their learning and are usually disappointed with their results (O Brien Moran, 2012). Expert learners often engage in self regulated learning. Someone who is a self regulated learner is said to begin with setting goals, planning how to achieve those goals taking into account their time constraints as well as their strength and weaknesses related to that specific learning task (O Brien Moran, 2012). Once they set their goals and have a strategy, they carry on while monitoring their results (O Brien Moran, 2012). If their strategies are working well for them, they continue on, but if they aren t, they adjust until they find something that works for them and helps them reach their goal (O Brien Moran, 2012). • 9. Analysis Of Blade Runner And Frankenstein The question of what makes something truly alive and human has been hotly disputed for an incredibly long time. Different viewpoints have different criteria, but all roads eventually lead to the same conclusion. Humanism is, at it s most basic form, the ability to objectively think and make decisions based upon one s past experiences and moral compass. Blade Runnerand Frankenstein both confront the issue of non humans displaying humancharacteristics. Replicants and the Monster both are on the very outskirts of humanity, but they are capable of rational thought and compassion, along with the pursuit of happiness. This has created a sort of creepy feeling, with our modern perspective of humanism encroaching on the progressive views of the two stories in question. Blade Runner and Frankenstein have a warped concept of human life in the way of the place of science in the creation of life, the prejudice of xenophobia, and an uncomfortableness with one s values of true humanism. Shelley s Frankenstein demonstrates the uneasiness that comes with creating life through unnatural means. Blade Runner also confronts the inner conflict of Deckard as he wrestles with his feelings for Rachael and his mission to terminate the other replicants. This movement came mostly out of the punk rock scene in Olympia, WA and Washington D.C. Women found themselves pushed out of punk due to the increasing aggressiveness in the punk scene, especially at concerts . Bands like Bikini Kill, and fan publishes magazines ( zines ) such as Jigsaw began to address the issue of women in punk rock. The first Riot Grrl Convention was held in Washington, D.C. in 1992. Taking On Multiple Perspectives For An American Adult The idea of taking on multiple perspectives can be applied to many scenarios, from making decisions as the president of a nation to running a day care. One of the most accessible perspectives for an American adult is the small business. By engaging in the perspective of other people at a business you either work at or are a customerat, you gain a certain understanding that makes you more relaxed and more pleasant. For example we can take an almost universal experience in the developed world, ordering food at a fast food restaurant. Person B has a greater understanding of the perspective of those around him and in turn is much calmer than person A. This example of taking on multiple perspectives shares in Zhuangzi s philosophy but is different from his examples. The closest example would be the story of the butcher. A good butcher changes his chopper every year because he chips it. And average butcher changes it every month because he breaks it (Zhuangzi, ch.3). This is demonstrating two people, doing essentially the same thing, but the way they do it makes their life more or less difficult. As the butchers gain a greater understanding of the oxen they become more proficient. When I first began cutting up oxen, I did not see anything but oxen. Three years later, I couldn t see the whole ox. And now, I encounter them with spirit and don t look with my eye ... That s why after nineteen years the blade of my chopper is still as though fresh from the grindstone. (Zhuangzi, Ch.3) In the restaurant example person B is a better customer than person A. One plate of nutrient agar commonly potato dextrose is recommended, however, I used nutrient agar as typical usage. Firstly, cut out an agar block (7 x 7 mm) small enough using a sterile blade to fit under a coverslip. Using a sterile straw to make a circle out of the fresh agar and fit under a glass slide. • 24. Muriel Ou Le Temps D Un Retour Themes It was 1963, eighteen years since the end of a conflict considered by many to be the deadliest in human history. The European continent, struggling to adapt to a postwar world, began experiencing shifts in the international balance of power; shifts that resulted in the seemingly invulnerable colonial system falling victim to numerous episodes of unrest and innumerable efforts at decolonization. One such effort took place in the French military colony of Algeria, beginning in 1954 with a socialist political party launching a series of escalating guerrilla attacks against the European community and ending the previous year with a declaration of independence that came at the cost of hundreds of thousands of lives. As both sides continued to pick up the pieces, a French filmmaker used the decolonization waras the basis for a motion picture that would acknowledge both the scale and the hazards of historical amnesia. Few postwar films depict an armed conflict s far reaching impact on a community more accurately than Alain Resnais s Muriel ou le Temps d un retour (1963), which testifies about the relationship between past and present by concentrating on two seemingly different individuals with a shared inability to move beyond the past. Following in the footsteps of Resnais s debut feature Hiroshima mon amour (1959), a film that also revolves around the vagaries of memory and time, Muriel does not look back on the past with fond nostalgia but with a crushing self delusion that ... These techniques use statistical methods for projecting from historical data. Quantitative techniques are preferred when appropriate data are available. The main assumption is that the historical pattern will continue into the future. The two main types of time series forecasting are average smoothing and exponential smoothing. The moving average is simply a series of arithmetic averages. Predicting sales for next year is simple. The actual sales for a certain number of years is added, and then divided by the number of years used to get the moving average. A weighted moving average is obtained by assigning a specific weight to previous years. The sum of all weights must equal one. Recent years are given a higher weight (Namvar, 2000, p.13). Exponential smoothing is simply a subtype of the weighted moving average. A new forecast is a weighted sum of actual variables (usually sales) in the current year and the weighted forecast of ... Hydrogen Peroxide And Catalase Reaction Lab The rate of reaction between Catalase and the hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) can vary depending on many factors including the enzyme concentration in a solution. In this investigation, the rate of reaction will be measured by the change in temperature of the liquefied spinach (catalase) over a period of 30 seconds, once the hydrogen peroxide(H2O2) has been added into the solution. It is expected that the change in temperature will initially increase as the concentration of the Catalase increases in the hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). As more Catalase is added into the hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), the rate of reaction is expected to increase due to a higher concentration of enzyme present and therefore a greater frequency of successful collisions between the enzyme and substrates resulting in a faster breakdown of the substrate.
