a. Explain how the bank organization could be benefited due to the implementation of computer
networks and how the resources could be utilized in an efficient manner with the computer network 
The Benefits of having computers networks for organisation are: Users can access their files from any
network. Within the network covered, expensive devices such as laser printers or scanners can be
shared. The software and resources within the area of networks can be well organized and centrally
managed. Files can be shared on a central computer allowing data to be shared throughout an

This is all connected together in a network in order to deliver a very well Service. Therefore,
topologies of network are defined as the schemes of joining a number of computers in the form of

communication. The topology of network is considered as the geometric representation of the
relationship of all the links and nodes (communication devices) to one another. The network
topologies are classified into two categories: i. Bus topology ii. Ring topology iii. Star topology i. Bus
topology In this type of network, all nodes are connected to the common communication medium or
central cable. The central physical cable that connects nodes is known as bus. This type of topology
used the multipoint connection and the central single cable acts as a backbone to link all the devices to
the network. The advantages of bus topology are: It is easy to install and maintain and it is less
expensive. The nodes are not affected if one node is failed. The network is not affected if nodes is
added and removed from the network. The disadvantages of bus topology are: I t promotes and
support only a small number of nodes. The entire networks fail if there is any problem with central
cable. ii. Ring topology: In this type of networking, each node has a dedicated point to point

The Myth Of The Universe
It is human nature to have questions, questions about how the world came to be and questions of
where mankind came from. In almost all societies and religions there are stories told of how the world
began, these stories are known as creation stories or creation myths. Creation myths can give those
reading them a better understanding of the values within the culture that they were created. The myth
of creation explains the origin of the universe, describing how the world and its animate and inanimate
entities were created (El Asward, Garry, El Shamy, 2005, p.24 31). A major similarity in each of the
different creation stories is the idea of water as the elemental source of life. For example, in ancient
Egypt a hill emerges from the waters ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Like most creation myths the Egyptian myths also tell a story of the beginning of time to human
existence. In the beginning, it is understood that there is only water, the Egyptians called the Nun. Nun
is unorganized chaos, nothingness, or a formless mass without structure (El Asward, Garry, El Shamy,
2005, p.24 31). Out of Nun came Atum, the first god. With no place for him to rise he forms a hill,
also known as a conical scrap of land. Realizing how lonely he was Atum mated with himself two
have two children. These children were Shu (the god of air) and Tefnut (the goddess of moisture).
Tefnut provided the principles of order to the world and Shu gave the principles of life. The two left
their father to go an establish the world. Since they had been gone so long Atum became worried and
removed his eye and sent it in search of his children. When She and Tefnut returned with his eye,
Atum was so grateful that he wept tears of joy. These tears gave birth to men and women. After many
years Atum became frail and the men of the earth started to plot against him. Realizing these plots
Atum and a council of gods decided that the men should be destroyed. The goddess Hatro was sent to
wipe out mankind, of this task she was very successful. Once only a small amount remained Atum
relented and decided to spare them. Water is a

BP is a multinational energy business that has 92,000 employees and operates in 175 countries. When
a new chief executive was recruited internally at BP (Tony Hayward), he promised to improve the
company s disappointing performance by quickly changing its culture to become more innovative and
responsive to its customers.
Q: How easy do you think it is for a new chief executive to change the culture of an organization
quickly? Justify your answer with reference to BP amp;/or other businesses that you know.

Another thing that Hayward is trying to say is that he thinks the BP should think more about the
maintenance of a piece of equipment for a longer time period but not the short term benefit like
cutting the cost, for example, it is not responsible to cut budgets related to safety and maintenance
without thoroughly examining the impact on the risk of a catastrophic accident. At the same time,
Hayward is well known and has experiences in the organization. If the workers can get involved more
to the business so that this might lead to better decision making and he also want workers to feel more
secure and happy in their jobs, since he hope to make the business to become more innovative. For
example, in changing situations that demand a new way of thinking or a fresh solution, stuff input can
be very helpful and valuable. These management strategies may lead the business to perform better,
and if the whole business is having more motivation to work which on the other words means to
become more responsive to its customers and furthermore, it may enable BP to raise it reputation and
gain its public s trust again.
However, on the other hand, changing the corporative culture of the business can be very difficult and
in reality, it take times for the business to get used to the changes before it moves on to the other stage
of better business performance. There are also some other factors that can influence the

Advantages Of Congestion Pricing
Congestion pricing is a particular type of road pricing where variable fees are charged with an explicit
purpose to reduce congestion (Litman, 2007). It is a method of harnessing the power of the market to
reduce the waste associated with traffic congestion and it uses market forces to allocate limited facility
capacity among users by their need to travel and their willingness to pay (TCRP, 2003). Congestion
pricing is also known as congestion charging, value pricing, variable road pricing, or pricing peak
period pricing. Congestion pricing works by shifting purely discretionary rush hour highway travel to
other transportation modes or to off peak periods. Congestion can be reduced by the concept involves
charging more for the right to use ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This means increasing prices during certain periods of time or at the places where congestion occurs
or introducing a new usage tax or charge when peak demand exceeds available supply in the case of a
tax funded public good provided free at the point of usage. According to the economic theory behind
congestion pricing, the aim of this policy is to use the price mechanism to make users more aware of
the costs that they impose upon one another when consuming during the peak demand. In this case,
they should pay for the additional congestion they create, thus encouraging the redistribution of the
demand in space or in time (Button, 1993) or shifting it to the consumption of a substitute public
good, for instance, switching from private transport to public transport (Small Verhoef, 2007). This
pricing mechanism has been used in several public utilities and public services for setting higher
prices during congested periods. This is a method to better manage the demand for the service to avoid
expensive new investments just to satisfy peak demand. This is also a useful way when it is not
economically or financially feasible to provide additional capacity to the

attacks, the United States vowed to destroy al Queda. Soon after, the United States would establish
Military Commissions to prosecute suspected terrorists. As the Military Commissions have evolved,
legal scholars and critics of military practices have challenged the constitutionality of the Military
Commissions since the beginning of the war. Those who participated in the terrorist attacks have been
detained and some are still awaiting trial. The day following his swearing in, President Obama

A Literary Analysis Of Bartleby By Herman Melville
1 Bartleby Herman Melville Bartleby was a story that had me inerested me from the first paragraph. I
love learning about and seeing characters develop, for this reason Breaking Bad is one of my favorite
TV shows. The lawyer in this story makes Bartleby out to be this magnificent and interesting creature
beyond compare, which I think shows more about the lawyer as character than Bartleby. The lawyer
saw depth, intrigue, and unsolved despairs in Bartleby before the reader had a chance. This aspect of
the Lawyer intrigued me deeply, how he could analyze and understand people from only a single
sentence. Bartleby was an interesting character, but I enjoyed reading about the other characters in the
office much more. I found Turkey, Nippers, and Ginger Nut fascinating. These three characters all
found their way working for a very organized and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There were very few characters, a cliche conflict, and not a very fulfilling resolution, but I still did not
dislike it. The narrator is a character who is very average, except for the fact that he has been banished
by his parents to live with his grandparents. Many kids have conflict with their parents but to be
banished seemed like a harsh thing, so during the story I kept asking myself if that would become
relevant. I do not think that it did. The narrator is almost forced by his grandparents to meet a kid who
lives next door named Fred. Fred is also a pretty normal person, except for the fact that his legs are
injured from when his dad threw him down the stairs. These two characters talk awkwardly before the
story ends with them hovering in the air next to Fred s roof (at least from what I could tell). I took this
as a metaphor for trying new things. The narrator was sent to his grandparents house expecting to have
the worst time of his life, but when he went and talked to the stranger next stairs, he experiences
something he would have never experiences

Thomas Paine And His Father
Philosopher Thomas Paine Thomas Paine was born in Norfolk, England on January 29, 1737 to a
middle income family. His father was a Quaker while his mother was an Anglican, therefore, constant
family arguments about religion became part of Thomas life (Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy 2).
He did not have much of formal education as he quit schooling at the age of thirteen years and began
working for his father. He was baptized in the Anglican Church that his mother attended. His father
had forbidden him from learning the Latin language while he was in school though he wanted to learn
it. His father specialized in craft staymaking and this was the skill that Thomas learned while working
for his father (Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy 2). Thomas had tried running away from home
twice, failing in his first escape, but was successful in the second. He escaped to London and then
went to Margate where he continued to work as a craft staymaker. He also preached in a church called
Methodist persuasion. It was during this time that he married Mary Lambert who died during
childbirth (Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy 2). Several incidents had a significant impact on the
life of Thomas such as working as an officer in an excise service, teaching in a school in London, as
well as being appointed a member of the debating society at the Headstrong Club. Thomas later
married Elizabeth Ollive in the year 1771. Thomas died on 8th June 1809 in Greenwich Village in

Suspense And Parallelism In Lauren Oliver s Before I Fall
Every choice you make has an end result Zig Ziglar. In the novel Before I Fall, the author, Lauren
Oliver, uses repetition, suspense and parallelism to show that one person s life can affect so many
others.
Lauren Oliver uses repetition in the novel Before I Fall to show that one person s life can affect the
life of someone completely unexpected. For example, the main character, Samantha Kingston, dies in
a car accident that she gets into with her friends, the popular girls, except Samantha does not fully die.
Instead, she relives the day of the accident over and over, from morning up until the accident that
night. Which is heavily foreshadowed before the accident when she says Maybe you can afford to
wait. Maybe for you there s a tomorrow. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Samantha relives February 12th over and over but she lives every day differently. At the beginning she
sees no meaning in the continuous loop and starts to become frustrated and does whatever she wants
with her time on these days because she knows it does not matter that she will wake up and relive it
the next day anyway. This makes the reader curious about when and how Samantha will escape this
deja vu. As the days go on, Samantha and the reader slowly progress together and begin to see the
meaning unfold behind all of this, and both Samantha s and readers questions gradually get answered.
It amazes me how easy it is for things to change, how easy it is to start off down the same road you
always take and wind up somewhere new. Just one false step, one pause, one detour, and you end up
with new friends or a bad reputation or a boyfriend or a break up. It s never occured to me before; I ve
never been able to see it. And it makes me feel, weirdly, like maybe all of these different possibilities
exist at the same time, like each moment we live has a thousand other moments layered underneath it
that look different. Through her thoughts, this shows the character s progression, curiosity, and
different perspectives as the days go on. The leisure pace of this novel keeps the build up of suspense
steady and keeps the reader guessing. The suspense carries through Samantha s final day and final

Cause Of Gun Violence In The United States
Gun Violence in America
There has been a great surge of discussion about the threat of gun violence here in the United States, a
topic that has been expanded into a national and even international debate. Gun violence today affects
many, and has been highly scrutinized by lawmakers, lobbyists, which has coined pro/anti gun
activists. But what are the numbers telling us? Is this really a public health crisis? The American
Psychological Association defines firearm violence as taking a number of different forms, including,
but not limited to, suicide and suicide attempts, violent conflicts and disputes, intimate partner
violence, unintentional deaths and injuries, violent criminal activity, and violent acts while intensely
distressed, intoxicated, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the main risks is racial disparities regarding homicide by discharge of firearm. The CDC
reported that in 2013 almost 60% of victims of homicide by firearm were black (CDC, 2016).
Additionally, as mentioned earlier, white males attribute to only 17.0 deaths by firearms compared to
African American males at 31.5 in 2013. This data highlights the overwhelming majority of deaths by
guns are members of the African American community. Some social determinants that can decrease
the risk of being a victim of gun violence are not simply demonstrated because gun violence is a
sensitive subject in America that sparks wide debates on moral, governmental, and various other
societal issues. There are many firearms in the United States more than 300 million (Hepburn, Miller,
Azrael, Hemenway, 2007) about as many guns as people (APA, 2016) which can be an increased risk
factor for committing gun violence, but what about those who are killed? Decreasing their risk is
equally as complicated. Reducing access to firearms significantly decreases gun violence (APA, 2016)
as does policies like Child Access Prevention (CAP) laws, which hold adults liable for insecure
storage of firearms around children, have decreased adolescent suicides and unintentional shootings of
children (Webster Starnes, 2000; Webster, Vernick, Zeoli, Manganello, 2004). In addition, ones of low
SES that display signs of poverty, socially disorganized neighborhoods, or high crime rates need a
sense of community at the institutional setting. In a study conducted by the University of Maryland for
Congress, they revealed that increasing employment in communities can reduce crime rates, thus
reducing victims of gun violence (Bushway

Stono Rebellion And The Security Act Of 1739
Stono Rebellion
On Sunday, September 9th, 1739 the British colony of South Carolina was shaken by a slave uprising
that culminated with the death of sixty people (Foster). This was one of the first major slave revolts in
which many slaves tried to escape to freedom. The fact that it was Sunday affected the timing of the
revolt. The promise of freedom that the Spanish made, contributed to the idea of rebellion. This
rebellion forced a negative compromise towards the slaves because all of the slave codes became even
more strict; even though there was no long term effect of the uprising. In 1739, the Stono Rebellion
created conflict between slaves and South Carolinian elite landowners which resulted in slaves being
forced to endure stricter slave codes.
First of all, the Stono Rebellion was led by an Angolan named Jemmy in South Carolina in 1739. This
uprising occurred because slaves in Southern South Carolina wanted to escape to freedom. The
enacting of the Security Act of 1739, the fact that it was a Sunday, and the malaria epidemic in the
Charlestown were three factors that influenced the timing of Stono Rebellion. The Security Act of
1739 required all white males to carry their firearms to church. Because most of the armed males went
to church (on sunday), they were not ready for a rebellion. Furthermore, the malaria epidemic had also
weakened many militiamen and regular men to the point of them not being able to fight or function
very well. Jemmy and his

PTSD And Its Impact On My Life
If there s one event that has made a huge impact in my life it would have to be a roll over car accident
that my parents, aunt, and I were when I was in sixth grade. This car accident has impacted me
negatively by leaving me with PTSD and positively by figuring out what career I am pursuing.
This car accident led me to have PTSD, which stands for post traumatic stress disorder. It is a disorder
that follows a traumatic event. It made me into who I am today because even though it happened nine
years ago I still feel the effects as if it happened yesterday. For example, when my friend s dad was
also in a bad car accident and I went with them to see the car I had an anxiety attack because I had
flashbacks. I went months with nightmares and whenever I saw something that reminded me of that
day I would shut down. PTSD made something that people do so effortlessly into something
absolutely terrifying for me which is driving. I still can t drive in big cities like Sioux City ... Show

I saw how the paramedics worked quickly and efficiently to take care of my unconscious and bleeding
dad, shocked mom, and my aunt who was ejected even while wearing a seatbelt to the hospital. Even
though that sounds gruesome it was because of this that I have always wanted to pursue a career in the
medical field and specifically a paramedic. It shaped me into who I am today because it makes me
want to be able to help people when tragedy strikes or whenever they are in need just like those
paramedics helped my family. I want to be able to repay all that was done for my family and I by
pursuing this job. Knowing that I can make a difference in people s life is what drives me through this
tough career. Those paramedics acted quickly and very sufficiently by knowing what to do without
hesitation and that dedication is what motivates me to continue on reading that extra chapter to be

Essay Exploring Autism in Children
Exploring Autism in Children
Susan was a normal, happy, active infant. Her parents were so relieved that all her checkups at the
pediatrician s office indicated that her growth and development were above average. At 6 months she
could sit up and crawl and at 10 months she was walking. She seemed to babble more than her older
brother did at the same age and was talking at 16 months. All the milestones in her early development
were ahead of schedule.
One day when she was 18 months old, her mother found her sitting alone in the yard spinning the
wheels of her wagon with such persistence that her mom joked with her friends that maybe Susan
would be an engineer when she grew up. Susan s mother began to notice many unusual behaviors ...

diagnosed with Autism. By the time she was three, there was no language or interaction.
After years of physical therapy, behavioral therapy and speech/ language therapy, Susan is now 15 and
enrolled in residential boarding school, where she receives 24 hour supervision and care. This program
is more expensive then a regular school based setting, but has benefited Susan. She has aides to help
her with her daily living skills. Susan is able to hold a job at a sheltered workshop under the
supervision of her aide (Neuwirth Segal).
Autism affects one out of every 500 births and over one million people have Autism in the United
States. Autism is four times more common in boys than girls. If a girl is Autistic, the symptoms are
usually much more severe. Girls tend to have more of the symptoms and lower intelligence.
The following paper will describe the Autism Spectrum Disorder, specifically as it relates to young
children with Autism. It will also identify different types of Autism and accompanying disorders. It
will describe the history, known causes, characteristics and the hope for the future.

Effects Of Video Game Addiction
Almost everyone has played a video game at least once in their life. The people who play them on a
normal basis though, probably only spend an hour or two doing so per day. However, there are people
who are affected by video game addiction and do not know it. The DSM V (Diagnostic and Statistical
Manual of Mental Disorders) does not even consider video game addiction to be a real problem. But,
video game addiction is, in fact, a real phenomenon and it is a direct cause of health and social
problems, particularly in adolescent males.
So, what is a video game and what is an addiction? According to Merriam Webster, a video game can
be defined as an electronic game played by means of images on a video screen and often emphasizing

year. With Black Friday arriving in November and Christmas in December the video game market is
expecting a big boost in sales. In 2017, mobile device users downloaded over 197 billion apps. An

For Hearing People Only
1. What do you think of speech reading or lip reading? What are your thoughts on this topic? Do all
deaf people know how?I think that speech or lip reading is something that should never be expected
out of anyone, deaf or hearing. I do not think that a person s mouth can be understood without sound
coming out of it. There are too many different ways of saying things; lip shapes are different; lip
movements are different; people enunciate words differently therefore causing different facial
movements. I would personally never approach someone with the question of Can you read my lips?

better education of society in general, the offensive words will gradually fade away.4. What are
advantages and disadvantages of deaf people using hearing aids or cochlear implants? What are your

which make a deaf person feel more aware of what is going on. There are digital aids that can be

Today s culture sees a gap between the male and female gender. This is evident in everything from the
films we watch, music we listen to, and even in our everyday lives. Historically, this issue has seen an
even larger gap, and can be observed in the films that were made during that time. Vertigo and Citizen
Kane both show the objectification of women by controlling them, writing them in supportive roles,
and placing their value in the way that they look.
In Alfred Hitchcock s Vertigo, made in 1954, a detective falls in love with the woman that he is hired

Kane hires a world class singing instructor, builds an opera house, and writes exaggerating reviews in
his own paper. Even with all of Kane s support, she fails horrible as a singer. Kane refuses to
acknowledge this, and pushes her through her career, to the point that she attempts to take her own
life, rather than continue on. In a future interview with a journalist, she says, I didn t want it. I didn t

to stop singing, though Kane keeps her locked up in his large estate, Xanadu. She constantly begs him
to allow her out, to experience the world, or to talk to other human beings but is always denied. She is
bound to her jigsaw puzzles and is kept inside as if she is one of many in Kane s statue collection. The
level of man s control over women in both films leaves the women with little, in terms of their

Legal And Ethical Issues Of Computing
Introduction One of the most significant concern facing IT industry in the 21st century is legal, social,
ethical and professional issues that are associated with appropriate uses of technologies in computing.
During the implantation of the Greenwich Freecycling website, many of these issues were
encountered. By deploying the correct combination of technologies that is available when
implementing the website some of these issues were conquered and overcome. Legal and ethical
issues in computing are not as straight forward as one expects, these two comprehensive concepts can
be divided into many sub sections such as computer Ethics which is a moral standard used as a
guideline for computer users, Code of ethics is a guideline in ICT, intellectual property is the own
work that is created by individuals, privacy refers to the rights that individual and companies have and
how their data is collected and restricted to outside sources, computer crime is an illegal act that
involves computers and finally cyber law which is laws that are related to helping protect the internet
and other online communication. professional bodies are the mechanisms to help improve
professionalism of individuals within the IT industry, by increasing the competence and the skills of
these individuals it will help to promote a better understanding of the legal and ethical issues and what
can be done to enhance and solve these issues respectively. Users of technology will feel an impact of

Shostak acknowledges Eugenides writing as a call for change within the modern era. Shostak details
the Lisbon Girls and their suicides as a great metaphor: representing what is wrong with the country ,
being the novel s ultimate scapegoat [...] predicting the forthcoming decadence , or suicide to reflect
the natural deaths due to industrialization (207). Shostak sees many reasons for Eugenides writing
about the tragic death of young girls. Primarily, Eugenides is depicting the younger generation as
morally corrupted. Shostak argues Eugenides writes with a greater purpose than to sadden his
audience with horrible stories. Shostak argues Eugenides writes with the purpose to educate his
reader: to send morally equipped readers to face a corrupted world armed with opinions and an
understanding of tragedy. The Virgin Suicides raises awareness of teen suicide. Eugenides begins
many conversations with his works, particularly this dark love story, with underlying notions to our
disappointing world.

performance of products or processes over their entire life cycle, including raw material

My Dream Of A Baseball Dream
On Returning: A baseball dream
I am on my way to the New England Baseball Complex in Manchester. It is early August, and the end
of the regular season. It has been an unusually lengthy season and I am ready for it to be finally over. I
have traveled all over New England and have visited many different states. Baseball is my first sport,
the sport I focus on the most throughout the year. Baseball has always been my favorite sport ever
since I was little. My dad taught me to play when I was around 6 and I have played extensively every
year since. I looked up to my brother a lot growing up and I remember playing with him when I got
home from school. My family was always there for me and always was around to help me do what I
wanted to do. It has been my goal to play in college and get a scholarship. This summer I took my first
step toward reaching that goal by competing in many tournaments where I can get exposure to the
colleges.
This tournament had many college coaches from across New England. There are a lot of good teams
and players and it was important to stand out to the coaches. The last 2 games we had were a double
header and I had to catch both games in 100 degree weather. I did it because it was something I could
do to show toughness and standout. We lost the first game and won the second game. We made the
playoffs and are seeded in 4th. It is the playoff game of the tournament. We played really good so far
going 3 1 0 on the weekend. I was doing alright throughout

Strengths Difficulties
During the process of working on the group assignment and presentation, it is observed that the team
has shown some good features of teamworking, which helped us to finish the groupwork task in a
higher quality and efficiency. These features might include:
Schedule Planning and Management. One of the good points for the team is to process the work
schedule with flexibility and conscientiousness. For instance, before taking the first group meeting,
the team members had shared class and working timetables so that the team could find the meeting
time that all team members are available and ensure the quality of meeting. Moreover, when booking
the room at meeting time, the team will book rooms for two more hours in case that the problem might
not be solved in the scheduled meeting time, which provides high flexibility for the team.
Information Share Analysis. Another good point for the team is to share the information and make
analysis for multiple parts. Instead of fully distributing assignment parts to each member, the team
shared all the cases as well as articles found to one independent folder, then thoroughly discussed the
possibility to apply these cases in different parts. Thus, the final group assignment had shown high
consistency on the content and the overall quality of our groupwork had been

Examine in detail the History of the Industrial Revolution. Discuss why Britain led the way in the
Industrial Revolution and also explain in detail the effects of industrialization on society.
Had it not been for the industrial revolution, I would doubt very much that we would enjoy the
technology we have in the year 2000. The reason we have this technology is that between the years
1750 and 1914 a great change in the world s history was made. People started to discover faster
methods of producing goods, which increased their economy. These people were mainly British and
French, but after a few years the French were distracted by their revolution, and the British continued
to industrialize. However you must not think this industrialization had no effects on society because it
did. So in this essay I am going to talk about the history of the industrial revolution, discuss why
Britain led the way in the industrial revolution and also I am going to explain to you in detail the
effects of industrialization on society.
In the midevel ages people were living in total darkness, and they did not know what was going on in
the world around them. Happily the medieval ages were followed by the renaissance. Then came the
year 1750, the year of the agricultural revolution in Britain which led away to a revolution in industry.

Gerard Jones s Violent Media Is Good For Youth
Since the evolution of pop culture in America, the introduction of violent media to young,
impressionable minds has been inevitable. As a child ages, they gradually adjust in response to their
environment. Accessibility to media, or lack thereof, significantly shapes a child s character no matter
the generation they come from. If adolescents are only familiar with rainbows and sunshine, they will
never be able to face the harsh truths of reality. Society teaches kids to fear and bottle up feelings of
violence and the emotions associated with it, instead of expressing it in a healthy way. This is
ultimately not the way to achieve world peace. Nevertheless, ignorant adults attempt to shelter youths
from this potential outlet without thoroughly understanding its benefits. American writer, Gerard Jones
famous for his comic book and nonfiction writing has developed a compelling perspective on this
topic from his cloistered childhood, exhaustive research, and parenting role. In his essay, Violent
Media Is Good for Kids , Jones proves that exposure to violent media is necessary to prepare children
for the real world.
Usually the youth of the late 1960s a time of empowerment and liberation are thought of as wild and
outgoing, but not Gerard Jones. As a teenager he lived a somber life of submission and seclusion.

However a number of women were fearful of the change, for not sure whether the government would
enforce the law properly. Besides, the introduction of this law means that the concubines would loose
everything. As for men, only the minority who had been influenced by the Western cultures would
agree having equality between men and women. As for the others, it meant that they would loose their
status, and control of property.
The outcome of the Marriage Law seems to be quite successful in terms of its initial aim. On 29
September 1951 the People s Daily reported that the divorce is relatively rare, Why would people
want to be divorced when they married of their own volition? (Sidel Ruth, Date unknown) However,
during the process of enforcing this law, people from the countryside would often find it difficult to
accept, because they were firmly constrained by the old tradition, whereas in the more developed
cities, people tend to be better educated and have more association with the Western people, and
therefore would find it easier to accept any new ideology. The younger generations would also find the
change more comfortable than the elders, once again due to foreign influences.

The American Taxpayer Relief Act Of 2012
The American Taxpayer Relief Act of 2012 created a combined estate and gift tax rate of 40% while

These changes generate some estate planning benefits that most people haven t yet realize. For
example, many wealthy people didn t bother trying to minimize capital gains in the past because the
lower tax rate of 15% was better than paying 50% in estate taxes. Now people can benefit by choosing
which assets they keep until death more carefully. Appreciated assets can be held until death and

Marriage always generates tax questions, but you can often find substantial opportunities when your
life changes in a major way. For example, consider two people who each own a home. The couple
plans to sell one home and live in the other. In a display of marital enthusiasm, Carol sells her smaller
home before the marriage and moves to Bob s palatial home.
Unfortunately, the couple failed to take advantage of tax planning. If Carol and Bob had moved to the
smaller home and made it their primary residence, they could have fixed it up, realized more money
from the sale and avoided capital gains on $500,000 when selling a primary residence. Instead, Carol
sold the home for $400,000 and had to pay capital gains on $50,000 over the $250,000 exemption for
a single taxpayer. The home was originally valued at $100,000, so the sale generated a $300,000 gain.
Responding to the Medicare Surtax on Investment Income
The Affordable Care Act imposed a Medicare tax for the first time on investment income over certain
limits. Tax planning could save up to $900 on each $100,000 of income. If you realize several million
dollars in capital gains, finding a way to avoid the surcharge could generate substantial savings in six
figures.

Disobedience is defined as the refusal to obey rules or someone in authority; in society, it is fueled by

courage, people have fought against the law and those enforcing it, to create racial tolerance in society.
Some may think that disobedience is a dangerous action because laws are in place for protection and
guidance, and if they are broken, then society would be damaged. In many cases, the damage is
obvious, such as with the Las Vegas shooting on October 1st of this year. Over 600 people were
injured or killed by a man who decided that the law, and all of the people that he hurt, didn t matter.
One could argue that violence is the inevitable outcome of people thinking that obeying the law is
conditional. However, applying this assumption to every situation would be unreasonable; breaking
the law may heal society, instead of harming it, such as when someone kills an attacker in self defense.
There will always be those who break the law for selfish reasons, but to make it impossible for anyone
to ever break any laws would require the absence of all freedom; it is necessary for

Contract Contracts Or Lump -sum Contracts
Contract is a major part in procurement management. Types of contract required for all the relevant
elements related to the project: Fixed price contracts or lump sum contracts: Certain amount is agreed
for the goods or service being sold. The buyer and the seller agree on a well defined to be delivered
material for a specific price and time. The contract can include some incentives fee for meeting or
exceeding the project objectives. While purchasing the high cost machinery items like loader, lifter etc
for the production of the product of our venture a contract was done in a fixed price with Jason
Manufacture and Suppliers Company. He supplied the heavy machinery items in time and did provide
better equipments within the contracted amount. The venture was happy so he as incentive fee and
promised to give him more contracts in the mere future. Cost Reimbursement Contracts: Payment is
done to the seller for direct or indirect actual cost. This type of contract is done when the scope of the
project is not clear. The risk is absorbed by the buyer as the final cost is uncertain. If problem arises
during the execution of the project, the buyer has to spend more money than he had estimated. While
ordering the machines like computers, wires, CCTV, stationary items, furniture s from the Lone
distributers and suppliers, the exact amount and the exact quantity were not estimated. We did a
contract. Certain quantities were ordered at first. Later we had to pay more money

Simulated Violent Role-Playing Video Games
Fellow peers of Mountain View Middle School,
I have been aware for quite some time about the ongoing argument over simulated violent role playing
games. Quite a few of you believe that they can be dangerous and have negative effects on adolescents
today, while they themselves have few interactions and experiences with these types of games.
Specifically, a student by the name of Monica Louka strongly believes that these role playing games
are harmful and thinks adults should be stricter on limiting these games. I would like to ask that this
single person, and everyone with similar views reconsider this position. Students who are rallying
behind me are also making an effort to get others to realize how exciting and fun these simulated
games ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Included in the article Violent video games may stop crime by keeping criminals busy playing violent
video games is the idea that children that play these simulated games are having fun, and have the
potential to not be violent in real life. Meaning that contrary to popular belief, these games can be
beneficial for the youngsters and keep them out of trouble. Since these games are so popular with
children today, they include many people and are only getting to be more popular. The result of this is
kids are getting excited to play with each other, and look forward to getting to play. They also result in
crime rates going down, proving how helpful these games actually are. Games such as these also
cause little damage to adolescents because all these games are about is having fun, and have little
intention of causing harm to any players. This overall highlights how simulated violent role playing
games are all about helping children, and keep them out of

Discuss and describe a moral panic from a social science...
Society is frequently subjected to moral panics when any crime is committed. Humanity repeatedly
blows crimes and incidents out of proportion until the entire society is somewhat controlled. Stuart
Hall, in his book, Policing the Crisis explained that the media, in conjunction with the bourgeoisie,
create moral panics in order to perpetrate fear and maintain control over society, as a whole. (Hall,
2013, s. 1) Moral panics are created as a hazard and rising threat to shock both society and culture into
changing the way it thinks and acts about problems in the real world. In this essay, moral panics will
be looked at in detail with a specific interest in the case of James Bulger. There will too, be a focus on

Marx established the Elite Engineered Model which encompasses the ruling elite manufacturing
certain panics to instil fear in society and divert it away from the real problems they are having. In the
scenario of the James Bulger murder, those with high ranking in society involved in the case, for
example, police, detectives, press and politicians, created the moral panic of the murder in an attempt
to divert the public s opinion away from the shocking crime of two young boys, just 10 years old, not
just abducting a toddler from a busy shopping centre in Liverpool, but also killing him in the most
vicious way and dumping his body on train tracks in an attempt to cover up what had happened. This
is not the behaviour of children; it is the behaviour of evil.
Particularly due to the age of the killers, the ferociousness of the crime and the age of the victim, the
mass media reports allowed the public to get personally and emotionally involved in the case and have
severe anger and resentment towards the children who murdered James Bulger. The public outcry was
huge and, the decision by the politicians and press

Jim Carrey Research Paper
I don t think human beings learn anything without desperation. Desperation is a necessary ingredient
to learning anything, or creating anything. Period. If you ain t desperate at some point, you ain t
interesting. Jim Carrey (http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/authors/j/jim_carrey.html)
Carrey knows what it takes to be a strong actor and he worked hard to get where he is today. Carrey
was very dedicated to his career and his past holds the key to his future success.
Carrey was born in Newmarket, Ontario, Canada on January 17th, 1962 and had what was considered
a normal life. His family was stable because their father was working. But, when Carrey was the age
of 15, his father was laid off. Carrey then had to go out and support his family. Carrey was a part of a
stand up comedy club before he dropped out of school and he loved it. He just didn t realize how
much that affected him later in life. (http://www.jimcarreyonline.com/info/biography_full.html) His
mother was very ill when he dropped out of school and the family struggled to pay their bills, so
Carrey obtained a job as a janitor in a factory. (http://ca.askmen.com/top_10/celebrity/ten actors who

Students With Disabilities Education Improvement Act
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, in the United States alone, about one in
every thirty three babies is born with a birth defect including special needs disorders ( Data Statistics
). Every child, no matter their race, gender, age or disability, has the ability to learn. The ways in
which children learn and their ability to retain knowledge varies considerably, especially when a child
struggles with special needs. The Federal special education law established in 1975 in the Education
for All Handicapped Children Act and then continued through a series of reauthorizations up through
2004 in what is now called the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEIA) has
long held that students with disabilities, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While disabled students are learning the same curriculum as the regular based learners, they may
struggle and fall behind, as they may not be able to keep up with the work. This can hurt the disabled
child solely because their self confidence can drop and result in them feeling left out. Disabled
learners typically will require extra help and instruction. This can hurt the class as a whole because the
amount of time spent on one concept, can take up too much time and in the end affect the amount of
material covered within a given time period. Even though a child may be pulled out into a resource
room for extra help, they are still delaying the classroom pace which is ultimately a huge academic
disadvantage (Foust, Kathy). Tolerance may be taught in the inclusive classroom setting, but it does
not always have a positive outcome. Students with special needs may receive special privileges, where
as a regular learner may see it as unfair. A child may feel as though disabled students get away with a
lot more since they have a disability. This can lead to other students in the class acting out in hopes of
receiving special treatment as well. It can also lead to resentment and cause conflict in the traditional
classroom (Lawrence,

Questions on Terrorist Activities
Why is there heavier activity in certain areas of the world? Chemical, nuclear, and biological warfare
are now becoming more profound as technology develops. As technology becomes more ubiquitous
across nations, the likelihood of attack becomes more eminent. This is particularly true of Iran who
has been explicit in their desire to destroy the civilized world. As this nation becomes better equipped
to attack the United States, the need for intervention becomes more profound. Terrorism, as indicated
by there attack targets, is predicated on fear. The concept of fear is what drives the profound of often
impactful nature of terrorism. In certain areas of the world, particularly those with high regard for
freedom make ideal terrorist targets. The terrorists, through their actions intend to create a pervasive
culture of fear within their target areas. Concepts of freedom, democracy, and prosperity are often
polar opposites of terrorists. They instead, often intend to enslave, restrict freedom, or impose their
own beliefs on others through fear. Areas of the world that are against these concepts are often targets
for terrorist activity. America, Europe, and Middle Eastern countries seeking freedom or challenging
the status quo are therefore likely targets. Figure 1 in the appendix presents are very short list of
prominent terrorist attacks in recent history. A quick glance at the list reveals that a vast majority of
the target areas are in the countries I mentioned above:

damage occurs it is immediately very dangerous and life threatening. The human brain constantly
needs blood supply, blood that flows through the brain carries nutrients as well as oxygen, when there
is shortage or blockage of the blood vessels that leads to a stroke. There are two different types of

Loss Of Identity In T. S. Eliot s The Hollow Men
The Hollow Men by T.S. Eliot could not be any truer with the messages of modern society. Reading
Hollow Men, the average person can find almost all of the messages applying to modern day times.
Especially in a high school setting. It was obvious that Eliot was far ahead of his time when he nailed
society on the head about its imperfections. Three messages that Eliot portrays in The Hollow Men
are: the self identity crisis, the loss of faith, and the incredible force of skepticism. In which line does
The Hollow Men show that humans suffer from loss of identity? Well, in lines 31 and 32 he gives a
dark image of how fake people are. Let me also wear such deliberate disguises. (Hollow 31 21) Now,
the descriptive word that Eliot used is deliberate. That means people purposely hid their true selves
from the outside world. In Worland High, countless students wear these deliberate disguises in fear of
the awful judgement that they may receive. However, it is not only students who are cautious. ... Show

Form prayers to broken stone. (Hollow 51) People still pray, but it s to nothing. As in nothing
meaning, they do not truly believe that praying will work. Many children are raised up in a religion,
and think nothing of them. There are followers and then there are religious followers. Religious
followers really believe and have faith in their religion, will the others follow blindly, and could care
less about their religion. Eliot informs his readers about how the majority is only followers and
continue to get worse. In today s modern society, this is very true, Atheists and Agnostic Atheists are
very common. Perhaps it is because of the progression in science proving many religious events to not
be possible. Then again, is this necessarily a good or a bad thing? Everyone is entitled to their one

The Stereotypes Of Body Image In Society And Culture
The bodies seen in the media recently tend to represent extremely prejudiced beauty. Many
companies, especially in the fashion industry, value the appearance of the models, and appoint them as
a representation of their products. In addition, the models walking the runway at the fashion show and
posing in the magazines, are used as a display of beauty to represent the idealized or required thinness
and stylish . These are familiar sights in daily life, and obviously, this dazzling world consists of
privileged people, and there is no room for marginalized people. As a result, these stereotypical body
images are implanted in people s subconsciousnesses, and unknowingly, people try to follow this
trend. Also, through these biased images, people define what is normal and what is the gendered role
of women in this society. These unrealistic and symbolic body images cause many social problems,
and establishes the standard from the view of privileged people, while ignoring the minority people
out of the normal frame.
This essay explores how the biased body image influences on the current society and culture, and how
the marginalized people are categorized in this society. Firstly, in order to grasp the stereotype of the
body image, I will discuss about who has the authority to control their gender or the body image.
As an example of the socially and culturally established ideal feminine , I want to mention about

Essay on Freedom of Cyber-Speech
Freedom of Cyber Speech
Freedom of speech has always been an important issue in American society. With the advent of the
Internet as a high speed communication device, this issue has become even more prominent in recent
years. This paper will explore the issue of whether the Internet should be censored. Additionally, it
will investigate possible methods for undertaking this censorship.
Since 1787, the Constitution has been integral part of American society. The First Amendment to the
Constitution, passed in 1791, reads:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise
thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of ... Show more content on

This leads to two key questions that the American society must confront in the upcoming years:
Should the Internet be censored? If so, how can the Internet be censored?
There are many types of information on the Internet that can easily be found that can be considered
harmful or dangerous. Among these include:
* Pornography: There are an overwhelming number of pornographic sites available on the Internet. In
fact, a recent study has shown that approximately one out ever fifty websites contains sexually explicit
material.[2] Many people consider this to be harmful in at least one of several ways. For one, it can be
harmful to the viewers of the pornography. Also, it may cause mental or moral damage to the people
actually in the pornography. Additionally, the protection of children from Internet pornography is an
important issue. In recent times, many children have become more computer savvy than their parents.
With the power of the Internet, many children have the ability to easily view pornography. One
example of a well known pornography site is www.whitehouse.com.
*
* Hate Speech: Many hate groups, including Neo Nazis, the KKK, and others, have web pages on the
Internet. These pages often promote hatred, racism, and violence, and it is obvious how such messages
can be damaging to a society. Many people consider these messages to be injurious because they fear
that the promotion of

This is all connected together in a network in order to deliver a very well Service. Therefore, topologies of network are defined as the schemes of joining a number of computers in the form of network. Two or more computers and devices are connected together to link for a data communication. The topology of network is considered as the geometric representation of the relationship of all the links and nodes (communication devices) to one another. The network topologies are classified into two categories: i. Bus topology ii. Ring topology iii. Star topology i. Bus topology In this type of network, all nodes are connected to the common communication medium or central cable. The central physical cable that connects nodes is known as bus. This type of topology used the multipoint connection and the central single cable acts as a backbone to link all the devices to the network. The advantages of bus topology are: It is easy to install and maintain and it is less expensive. The nodes are not affected if one node is failed. The network is not affected if nodes is added and removed from the network. The disadvantages of bus topology are: I t promotes and support only a small number of nodes. The entire networks fail if there is any problem with central cable. ii. Ring topology: In this type of networking, each node has a dedicated point to point connection only with the ... • 3. The Myth Of The Universe It is human nature to have questions, questions about how the world came to be and questions of where mankind came from. In almost all societies and religions there are stories told of how the world began, these stories are known as creation stories or creation myths. Creation myths can give those reading them a better understanding of the values within the culture that they were created. The myth of creation explains the origin of the universe, describing how the world and its animate and inanimate entities were created (El Asward, Garry, El Shamy, 2005, p.24 31). A major similarity in each of the different creation stories is the idea of water as the elemental source of life. For example, in ancient Egypt a hill emerges from the waters ... In the beginning, it is understood that there is only water, the Egyptians called the Nun. Nun is unorganized chaos, nothingness, or a formless mass without structure (El Asward, Garry, El Shamy, 2005, p.24 31). Out of Nun came Atum, the first god. These children were Shu (the god of air) and Tefnut (the goddess of moisture). Tefnut provided the principles of order to the world and Shu gave the principles of life. The two left their father to go an establish the world. Since they had been gone so long Atum became worried and removed his eye and sent it in search of his children. When She and Tefnut returned with his eye, Atum was so grateful that he wept tears of joy. These tears gave birth to men and women. After many years Atum became frail and the men of the earth started to plot against him. Realizing these plots Atum and a council of gods decided that the men should be destroyed. The goddess Hatro was sent to wipe out mankind, of this task she was very successful. Once only a small amount remained Atum relented and decided to spare them. Water is a ... • 7. Advantages Of Congestion Pricing Congestion pricing is a particular type of road pricing where variable fees are charged with an explicit purpose to reduce congestion (Litman, 2007). It is a method of harnessing the power of the market to reduce the waste associated with traffic congestion and it uses market forces to allocate limited facility capacity among users by their need to travel and their willingness to pay (TCRP, 2003). Congestion pricing is also known as congestion charging, value pricing, variable road pricing, or pricing peak period pricing. Congestion pricing works by shifting purely discretionary rush hour highway travel to other transportation modes or to off peak periods. This means increasing prices during certain periods of time or at the places where congestion occurs or introducing a new usage tax or charge when peak demand exceeds available supply in the case of a tax funded public good provided free at the point of usage. According to the economic theory behind congestion pricing, the aim of this policy is to use the price mechanism to make users more aware of the costs that they impose upon one another when consuming during the peak demand. In this case, they should pay for the additional congestion they create, thus encouraging the redistribution of the demand in space or in time (Button, 1993) or shifting it to the consumption of a substitute public good, for instance, switching from private transport to public transport (Small Verhoef, 2007). This pricing mechanism has been used in several public utilities and public services for setting higher prices during congested periods. • 9. A Literary Analysis Of Bartleby By Herman Melville 1 Bartleby Herman Melville Bartleby was a story that had me inerested me from the first paragraph. I love learning about and seeing characters develop, for this reason Breaking Bad is one of my favorite TV shows. The lawyer in this story makes Bartleby out to be this magnificent and interesting creature beyond compare, which I think shows more about the lawyer as character than Bartleby. The lawyer saw depth, intrigue, and unsolved despairs in Bartleby before the reader had a chance. This aspect of the Lawyer intrigued me deeply, how he could analyze and understand people from only a single sentence. Bartleby was an interesting character, but I enjoyed reading about the other characters in the office much more. I found Turkey, Nippers, and Ginger Nut fascinating. There were very few characters, a cliche conflict, and not a very fulfilling resolution, but I still did not dislike it. The narrator is a character who is very average, except for the fact that he has been banished by his parents to live with his grandparents. Many kids have conflict with their parents but to be banished seemed like a harsh thing, so during the story I kept asking myself if that would become relevant. I do not think that it did. The narrator is almost forced by his grandparents to meet a kid who lives next door named Fred. Fred is also a pretty normal person, except for the fact that his legs are injured from when his dad threw him down the stairs. These two characters talk awkwardly before the story ends with them hovering in the air next to Fred s roof (at least from what I could tell). I took this as a metaphor for trying new things. • 10. Thomas Paine And His Father Philosopher Thomas Paine Thomas Paine was born in Norfolk, England on January 29, 1737 to a middle income family. His father was a Quaker while his mother was an Anglican, therefore, constant family arguments about religion became part of Thomas life (Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy 2). He did not have much of formal education as he quit schooling at the age of thirteen years and began working for his father. He was baptized in the Anglican Church that his mother attended. His father had forbidden him from learning the Latin language while he was in school though he wanted to learn it. His father specialized in craft staymaking and this was the skill that Thomas learned while working for his father (Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy 2). Thomas had tried running away from home twice, failing in his first escape, but was successful in the second. He escaped to London and then went to Margate where he continued to work as a craft staymaker. He also preached in a church called Methodist persuasion. It was during this time that he married Mary Lambert who died during childbirth (Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy 2). Several incidents had a significant impact on the life of Thomas such as working as an officer in an excise service, teaching in a school in London, as well as being appointed a member of the debating society at the Headstrong Club. In the novel Before I Fall, the author, Lauren Oliver, uses repetition, suspense and parallelism to show that one person s life can affect so many others. Lauren Oliver uses repetition in the novel Before I Fall to show that one person s life can affect the life of someone completely unexpected. For example, the main character, Samantha Kingston, dies in a car accident that she gets into with her friends, the popular girls, except Samantha does not fully die. Instead, she relives the day of the accident over and over, from morning up until the accident that night. Which is heavily foreshadowed before the accident when she says Maybe you can afford to wait. Maybe for you there s a tomorrow. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At the beginning she sees no meaning in the continuous loop and starts to become frustrated and does whatever she wants with her time on these days because she knows it does not matter that she will wake up and relive it the next day anyway. This makes the reader curious about when and how Samantha will escape this deja vu. As the days go on, Samantha and the reader slowly progress together and begin to see the meaning unfold behind all of this, and both Samantha s and readers questions gradually get answered. It amazes me how easy it is for things to change, how easy it is to start off down the same road you always take and wind up somewhere new. Just one false step, one pause, one detour, and you end up with new friends or a bad reputation or a boyfriend or a break up. It s never occured to me before; I ve never been able to see it. And it makes me feel, weirdly, like maybe all of these different possibilities exist at the same time, like each moment we live has a thousand other moments layered underneath it that look different. Through her thoughts, this shows the character s progression, curiosity, and different perspectives as the days go on. The leisure pace of this novel keeps the build up of suspense steady and keeps the reader guessing. The suspense carries through Samantha s final day and final ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Cause Of Gun Violence In The United States Gun Violence in America There has been a great surge of discussion about the threat of gun violence here in the United States, a topic that has been expanded into a national and even international debate. Gun violence today affects many, and has been highly scrutinized by lawmakers, lobbyists, which has coined pro/anti gun activists. But what are the numbers telling us? Is this really a public health crisis? The American Psychological Association defines firearm violence as taking a number of different forms, including, but not limited to, suicide and suicide attempts, violent conflicts and disputes, intimate partner violence, unintentional deaths and injuries, violent criminal activity, and violent acts while intensely distressed, intoxicated, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the main risks is racial disparities regarding homicide by discharge of firearm. The CDC reported that in 2013 almost 60% of victims of homicide by firearm were black (CDC, 2016). Additionally, as mentioned earlier, white males attribute to only 17.0 deaths by firearms compared to African American males at 31.5 in 2013. This data highlights the overwhelming majority of deaths by guns are members of the African American community. Some social determinants that can decrease the risk of being a victim of gun violence are not simply demonstrated because gun violence is a sensitive subject in America that sparks wide debates on moral, governmental, and various other societal issues. There are many firearms in the United States more than 300 million (Hepburn, Miller, Azrael, Hemenway, 2007) about as many guns as people (APA, 2016) which can be an increased risk factor for committing gun violence, but what about those who are killed? Decreasing their risk is equally as complicated. Reducing access to firearms significantly decreases gun violence (APA, 2016) as does policies like Child Access Prevention (CAP) laws, which hold adults liable for insecure storage of firearms around children, have decreased adolescent suicides and unintentional shootings of children (Webster Starnes, 2000; Webster, Vernick, Zeoli, Manganello, 2004). In addition, ones of low SES that display signs of poverty, socially disorganized neighborhoods, or high crime rates need a sense of community at the institutional setting. In a study conducted by the University of Maryland for Congress, they revealed that increasing employment in communities can reduce crime rates, thus reducing victims of gun violence (Bushway ... • 15. Stono Rebellion And The Security Act Of 1739 Stono Rebellion On Sunday, September 9th, 1739 the British colony of South Carolina was shaken by a slave uprising that culminated with the death of sixty people (Foster). This was one of the first major slave revolts in which many slaves tried to escape to freedom. The fact that it was Sunday affected the timing of the revolt. The promise of freedom that the Spanish made, contributed to the idea of rebellion. This rebellion forced a negative compromise towards the slaves because all of the slave codes became even more strict; even though there was no long term effect of the uprising. In 1739, the Stono Rebellion created conflict between slaves and South Carolinian elite landowners which resulted in slaves being forced to endure stricter slave codes. First of all, the Stono Rebellion was led by an Angolan named Jemmy in South Carolina in 1739. This uprising occurred because slaves in Southern South Carolina wanted to escape to freedom. The enacting of the Security Act of 1739, the fact that it was a Sunday, and the malaria epidemic in the Charlestown were three factors that influenced the timing of Stono Rebellion. The Security Act of 1739 required all white males to carry their firearms to church. Because most of the armed males went to church (on sunday), they were not ready for a rebellion. Furthermore, the malaria epidemic had also weakened many militiamen and regular men to the point of them not being able to fight or function very well. Jemmy and his ... Had it not been for the industrial revolution, I would doubt very much that we would enjoy the technology we have in the year 2000. People started to discover faster methods of producing goods, which increased their economy. These people were mainly British and French, but after a few years the French were distracted by their revolution, and the British continued to industrialize. • 35. Gerard Jones s Violent Media Is Good For Youth Since the evolution of pop culture in America, the introduction of violent media to young, impressionable minds has been inevitable. As a child ages, they gradually adjust in response to their environment. Accessibility to media, or lack thereof, significantly shapes a child s character no matter the generation they come from. If adolescents are only familiar with rainbows and sunshine, they will never be able to face the harsh truths of reality. Society teaches kids to fear and bottle up feelings of violence and the emotions associated with it, instead of expressing it in a healthy way. This is ultimately not the way to achieve world peace. Nevertheless, ignorant adults attempt to shelter youths from this potential outlet without thoroughly understanding its benefits. American writer, Gerard Jones famous for his comic book and nonfiction writing has developed a compelling perspective on this topic from his cloistered childhood, exhaustive research, and parenting role. In his essay, Violent Media Is Good for Kids , Jones proves that exposure to violent media is necessary to prepare children for the real world. Usually the youth of the late 1960s a time of empowerment and liberation are thought of as wild and outgoing, but not Gerard Jones. As a teenager he lived a somber life of submission and seclusion. Following his parents directives , Jones rejected his genuine emotions and hid under the façade of a nice boy (Jones 199). That all came crashing down when the frail ... However a number of women were fearful of the change, for not sure whether the government would enforce the law properly. As for men, only the minority who had been influenced by the Western cultures would agree having equality between men and women. As for the others, it meant that they would loose their status, and control of property. The outcome of the Marriage Law seems to be quite successful in terms of its initial aim. On 29 September 1951 the People s Daily reported that the divorce is relatively rare, Why would people want to be divorced when they married of their own volition? (Sidel Ruth, Date unknown) However, during the process of enforcing this law, people from the countryside would often find it difficult to accept, because they were firmly constrained by the old tradition, whereas in the more developed cities, people tend to be better educated and have more association with the Western people, and therefore would find it easier to accept any new ideology. The American Taxpayer Relief Act Of 2012 The American Taxpayer Relief Act of 2012 created a combined estate and gift tax rate of 40% while raising the estate tax exemption to $5.43 million in 2015. The gift exclusion stays at $14,000 in 2015. These changes generate some estate planning benefits that most people haven t yet realize. For example, many wealthy people didn t bother trying to minimize capital gains in the past because the lower tax rate of 15% was better than paying 50% in estate taxes. Marriage always generates tax questions, but you can often find substantial opportunities when your life changes in a major way. For example, consider two people who each own a home. The couple plans to sell one home and live in the other. In a display of marital enthusiasm, Carol sells her smaller home before the marriage and moves to Bob s palatial home. Unfortunately, the couple failed to take advantage of tax planning. If Carol and Bob had moved to the smaller home and made it their primary residence, they could have fixed it up, realized more money from the sale and avoided capital gains on $500,000 when selling a primary residence. Instead, Carol sold the home for $400,000 and had to pay capital gains on $50,000 over the $250,000 exemption for a single taxpayer. The home was originally valued at $100,000, so the sale generated a $300,000 gain. Responding to the Medicare Surtax on Investment Income The Affordable Care Act imposed a Medicare tax for the first time on investment income over certain limits. Tax planning could save up to $900 on each $100,000 of income. Oscar Wilde was a 19th century poet and playwright, well known for works such as The Picture of Dorian Gray and The Importance of Being Earnest. One of Wilde s famous quotes claims that, according to history, disobedience is a valuable human trait that promotes social progress. Disobedience is defined as the refusal to obey rules or someone in authority; in society, it is fueled by the free will of the people and their desire for freedom and justice. There have been both altruistic and malevolent leaders at every point in history, as well as those who follow them peacefully, or stage a rebellion. The ability to disagree with one s government and to act upon this discontent is the core skill of the people when attempting to dethrone ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Prior to her act of defiance, Park was active in the civil rights organization, the NAACP, so she fully knew the personal and political consequences of her decision. Disobeying the Jim Crow laws nonviolently was a key technique in the civil rights movement; in this instance Parks s rebellion resulted in her being arrested and fined. In both the civil rights movement and the holocaust, laws were put in place to put one group of people unfairly above another. Through perseverance and courage, people have fought against the law and those enforcing it, to create racial tolerance in society. Some may think that disobedience is a dangerous action because laws are in place for protection and guidance, and if they are broken, then society would be damaged. In many cases, the damage is obvious, such as with the Las Vegas shooting on October 1st of this year. Over 600 people were injured or killed by a man who decided that the law, and all of the people that he hurt, didn t matter. One could argue that violence is the inevitable outcome of people thinking that obeying the law is conditional. However, applying this assumption to every situation would be unreasonable; breaking the law may heal society, instead of harming it, such as when someone kills an attacker in self defense. There will always be those who break the law for selfish reasons, but to make it impossible for anyone to ever break any laws would require the absence of all freedom; it is necessary for ... While disabled students are learning the same curriculum as the regular based learners, they may struggle and fall behind, as they may not be able to keep up with the work. This can hurt the disabled child solely because their self confidence can drop and result in them feeling left out. Disabled learners typically will require extra help and instruction. This can hurt the class as a whole because the amount of time spent on one concept, can take up too much time and in the end affect the amount of material covered within a given time period. Even though a child may be pulled out into a resource room for extra help, they are still delaying the classroom pace which is ultimately a huge academic disadvantage (Foust, Kathy). Tolerance may be taught in the inclusive classroom setting, but it does not always have a positive outcome. Students with special needs may receive special privileges, where as a regular learner may see it as unfair.
