Frank O Connor s Guests of the Nation
In Frank O Connor s Guests of the Nation, the narrator, called Bonaparte by his fellow rebels, recounts
his reluctant role in the execution of two English soldiers in retaliation for the slaughter of four Irish
rebels. O Connor develops this conflict between revolutionary attitudes in the strained relationship
between the narrator and Jeremiah Donovan, the experienced rebel, who has the responsibility for
fulfilling the Second Battalion s order to shoot the prisoners. The young revolutionary Bonaparte
discovers, in his imprudent acceptance of group values, evil within himself. Against his ideal of
actions appropriate to him as an individual, Bonaparte and his fellow revolutionary Noble, at the
insistence of their superior officer who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He is driven by his obligations to the military instructions that have been given to him by Feeney. He
chooses to follow these orders and blame the deliberate inhumanity of the killings on his duty to the
Irish cause (Mowery). Donovan and Feeney place devotion to the cause above humanity (Renner).
Despite serious reservations, Bonaparte and Noble go along with the plan for the execution. What
prevails their moral objection is the pressure exerted by their peers (Donovan and Feeney, the local
intelligence officer) and by the social situation. According to Michael Neary, the two men are
disillusioned by the orders to execute their good natured and thoroughly harmless English prisoners.
Still, they refuse to assume responsibility for their own and their prisoners destiny.
Ironically named after Napoleon Bonaparte, a military leader in every aspect, O Connor s Bonaparte is
the most reluctant and inexperienced of soldiers. Although he believes he wants to engage in combat,
by the end of the story, as Noble feels ignoble, Bonaparte feels disgusted with the militarism his name
suggests (Evans). The young Bonaparte struggles with the tormenting conflict between loyalty to his
group and loyalty to his own developing sense of right and wrong. As the moment of execution nears,
the older narrator further indicates his changing values by condemning Donovan s explanations as the
usual rigmarole and by contrasting Donovan s cold and excited voice with Belcher s

A Dilemma and My Solution Based On Utilitarianism Ethical Model
(Assignment # 1)

Part 1: Utilitarianism Ethical Model
Many people from all walks of life have trouble making decisions in their everyday lives, especially
on tough or critical situations that may even involve life and death considerations. To address this
issue, there are four ethical models and four ethical principles developed as guidance in making
decisions in an ethical way. One of the four ethical models is the Utilitarianism. This model is based
on the principle that the best decision is the one that gives benefits to most or causes harm to ... Show

So long as a course of action produces maximum benefits for everyone, utilitarianism does not care
whether the benefits are produced by lies, manipulation, or coercion (Manuel Velasquez, 1989).
Utilitarianism ethics has two types. One is act utilitarianism and the other is rule utilitarianism. Act
utilitarianism conforms to the description of utilitarianism mentioned above while rule utilitarianism
considers also the adherence to the law and fairness of the decision. A rule utilitarian seeks to benefit
the most people but through the fairest and most just means available. Therefore, added benefits of
rule utilitarianism are that it values justice and includes beneficence at the same time (Rainbow).
However, utilitarianism (both act and rule) has numerous flaws like in all other theories. First, there is
uncertainty as to the outcome which is the basis of the decision. Outcomes maybe inferred from life
experiences or from logical evaluations but no one can be certain of the actual outcome in the future.
Wrong prediction of the outcomes resulting to less benefit or more harm, makes the utilitarian
decision as unethical. Second, predicted outcomes of different nature like money (tangible) against
happiness (intangible) are not really comparable, making a quantified advantage of the other is
debatable. Last but not the least, there

Examples Of Sexism In Television Shows
Nowadays, many of the television programs that many of us watch are usually sexist within their
dialogue. However, many of us are unaware of this because our attention is being entertained by the
show itself; so, we do not take the time to analyze and notice what we are truly watching. Many of us
are being sidetracked by the different situations/entertainment found in the show. For instance, some
examples used to cover up sexism in a television show are: comedy/humor, drama, sexuality, and
violence; however, television shows are not the only ones that use this, movies and advertisements do
too. The different examples, pull one s attention into the situation, rather than the dialogue occurring
between characters and how they speak to one another. However, there are ways to unravel the sex
linked differences between characters in television programs; we can analyze the different forms in
which different sex, age, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, and educational level individuals speak to
one another. The intent of analyzing a television show is to demonstrate the sex linked differences
between a family and their gender roles and humor and drama are used to hide sexism. Furthermore,
the sitcom The Middle will be used in order to prove and evaluate the sexism that still occurs in many
television programs.
The television program: The Middle, is a sitcom based on a family (the Hecks) of five, whom are:
mother (Frankie, 52), father (Mike, 54), son (Axl, 23), daughter (Sue, 21),

Comparing The Epic Of Gilgamesh And The Flood
The Epic of Gilgamesh tells the tale of Gilgamesh, the demigod king of Uruk, and his epic quest to
find eternal life, after his best friend, Enkidu, dies. On this journey, Gilgamesh seeks the help of
Utnapishtim, who tells his story about the flood he survived. This flood story is extremely similar to
the one told in the Bible. After breaking down both stories and looking especially at the reasons for the
flood, amount of destruction, and the way to find land after, it becomes apparent that ideas were taken
from one and slightly changed to accommodate the other story. Everything happens for a reason, and
even gods are included in this rule of thumb. In both stories, clear reasons are laid out for the floods.
The gods in Utnapishtim s story flood the earth because they are simply annoyed with the people and
decide it is time for a great flood. While in the Bible, God floods the earth because of the pure
wickedness that resides in the human race. The common thread between the flood s purpose is human
fault. The gods in the stories both decide to send a flood because of the way humans have turned out,
and the gods are not happy with the way the people act. Though it is human flaw that causes the
floods, different flaws cause each flood. In Utnapishtim s story, he is chosen to survive and he has to
tell the leaders You have learned that Enil the was god despised you and will not give you access to
the city anymore, and For this Ea will bring the rains. This means that the

Forensic Database Research Paper Forensic scientists and investigators need to use databases to
quickly store and organize information. The use of these databases allows information about criminals
to be stored and easily accessed, so investigators can identify whoever committed the crime. The
NIBIN, IAFIS, and CODIS databases are some of the tools widely used and available to forensic
scientists. NIBIN, or the National Integrated Ballistic Information Network, allows prompt and easy
identification of ballistics information from across the country (ATF.) It was formed in the 1990 s in
conjunction with law enforcement and is run under the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and
Explosives (ATF.) The program is able to automate ballistics evaluations, a process that previously
took a lot longer. Cartridge casing evidence is entered into NIBIN, which then allows the data unique
to each bullet to be compared against other bullets to find a common perpetrator (ATF.) The network

identification was digitalized so fingerprints from criminals, government workers, and military

identify fingerprint characteristics and compare them with other individuals who share a lot of the
unique features between fingerprints (FBI.) There is a lot of information about criminals on their

American Barrick Resources Corporation Case
American Barrick Resources Corporation Case a. Explain the value chain for gold mining firms (how
can a mine create a competitive advantage relative to its rivals). What are the factors that may explain
exceptional performance of ABX relative to the other gold mines? To create a competitive advantage,
a mine has to properly manage its exposure to gold price fluctuations. This is not an easy thing to do
since there are so many factors to consider: when, how much, and how to hedge the gold production.
Firms in this industry differentiate themselves based on the risk management strategies they
implement. Furthermore, mines should also be able to minimize the cost of gold production along with
making large sunk costs. Operating in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For every 1% change in gold prices, how might its stock price be affected? How could the firm
manage its gold price exposure without the use of financial contracts?
If American Barrick wanted to protect itself from gold price exposure without the use of financial
contracts, it could use natural hedges. One way to hedge against undesired risk is to match cash flows
such as revenues and expenses. In other words, a commodity producer such as American Barrick,
which has revenues payables in U.S. dollars and incurs cash outflows in a different currency, will try
to match its outflows to its expected inflows in the foreign currency. Another way of hedging against
risk is the purchase of insurance to protect against financial loss due to external influences. It is also
common to hedge gold investments against fluctuations of the U.S. dollar. It is extremely important
for commodity traders to know which currency is correlated with what commodity in order to be able
to predict certain market movements; for instance, there is often a negative correlation between gold
and S amp;P 500.

price exposure? ABX wanted to lock in the price at which it could sell its output in order to avoid

Cyber Security And The Internet Essay
The recent trend in the global business has been largely driven by the mechanism of the internet and
more broadly the cyberspace. This has created a more elaborate platform for all business activities to
be coordinated through an information system protocols. The information system is the management
of the information data base of an organization or an institution. Information is assumed to be a
significant asset, organisations strive to gather, retain and protect their valuable intellectual property to
place them in a prominent business platform over their competitors.
The proficiency and efficacy of the cyberspace in its application in accounting, finance, system
designs, manufacturing etc., cannot be denied nor neglected. The reality of the twenty first century is
simple; no organization can survive without the adoption and implementation of the mechanism of
information technology to their area of business. On the contrary perspective, there are several
challenges that are associated with the cyberspace, among which is majorly cyber security. Recently
the hackers activity has really skyrocketed and has become a major concern for organizations, states
and federal governments and even international organizations. Several regulatory schemes are put in
place to mitigate the activities of hackers across the globe.

The Christ, The Son Of The Living God
Introduction
Jesus asked His disciples, Who do you say I am? Peter answered for them,
You are the Christ. (Mark 8:27 29) This word, Christ, is the Greek word christos and
translates the Hebrew messiah. The term messiah or Christ was used prophetically as the
title for the person or figure that God would appoint to usher in His kingdom. The
people s understanding of messiah has a military or political implication. Matthew s
gospel adds to Peter s statement You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God. (Matt.
16:16). There is a rich tradition in these words; going back to the kings of Israel, who
were called sons of God and suggests a special relationship to God, but Jesus was much
more than that. He is God s chosen One and indeed appointed to bring God s kingdom.
He is the divine Son. The long awaited One of the Old Testament prophesies. The next
verse in Mark gives another important title to Jesus. He teaches that the Son of Man
must suffer, die, and rise again. Who is the Son of Man? This title comes from Daniel
7:13 14. Daniel s vision depicts the Ancient of Days (God) taking a seat on His throne
then one like a son of man approaches God and is given authority, glory, and power.
All of the nations will worship Him. The Jews of Jesus s time see this figure from Daniel
as a prophetic vision of their Messiah. Jesus claimed to be this Son of Man . Despite
this truth, many had a vision of the Messiah as a military power that

efforts. Proven more now than ever, many people are seeking to buy products that in some way give
back to another important cause and NBB has had this approach since its origin. Having the target
market of, Beer connoisseurs that appreciate the high quality of NBB s products, as well as the
company s environment and ethical business practices, points out how this has been a major
contributor to how quickly success for the company has came over the years. NBB doesn t just
specifically focus on the social responsibility of their consumers but they also focus on their
employees. This is channeled through total encouraged financial transparency and exceptional
benefits. One way that the NBB encourages their employees to participate in the social responsibility
themselves is by offering paid time off. For every two hours of community service employees are paid
for one hour of work time. NBB also reaches out and supports community charities. These charities
are those that relate to energy efficient alternatives. The desire is with community support, NBB is
able to better build relationships with their consumers that will build rapport.

B2B vs. B2C Marketing Differences
Once a decision is made to develop a business, whom the customer will be is the next decision to be

Business to business (B2B) marketing has differences from business to consumer (B2C) marketing

transactions.
Traditional marketing in the business to business environment requires very different strategies from

After the consumer makes his selection from the landing page, a transition to the shopping cart and

contact information for offline communications, and an attachment for downloading catalog or price
list information. The e mail is followed up by sales representatives who will also forward quotes and
snail mail an information packet (Weil, 2002).
The e mail sent to either a business or consumer must be enticing to the customer. It should be colorful
and have pertinent information. A URL leading the customer to the landing page is imperative in order
to either generate the lead for a business transaction, or lead a consumer to a ?Specials? page with the
current sales displayed. After the e mail has been received by the business or consumer, the Internet
website landing page is browsed by either type of customer. Here is where the business wishing to do
business must obtain permission to take information from the customers or businesses perusing their
landing page. When doing a business to business transaction, permission involves assuring the
business information shared will be kept private. This will lead to more lead generation (Weil, 2002).

Why Computers Don T Belong In The Classroom Summary
As the technology advances, more utilities become available to us that make our lives easier. This
correlates to the short essay Why Computers Don t Belong in the Classroom by Clifford Stoll. Stoll
argues that the high usage of technology in schools gives students the incentive have weak thinking
skills and not focus in class. I agree with the argument of Clifford Stoll as the usage of technology
simply motivates students to procrastinate, rely heavily on online resources and lose interest in class
activities. Technology provides a distraction for students as they would rather watch TV or play video
games. Clifford Stoll argues, If kids watch too much TV, why bring multimedia video systems into
schools. Stoll implies that the schools are allowing students to expect some sort of multimedia in their
classes. Showing videos during class may help some of the visual learners, but most students consider
this as a free time and not focus. Furthermore, Stoll states that teachers show videos during class due
to their lack of information. In this case, the teachers should prepare beforehand and keep the students

Essay Thomas Edison
Term Paper Thomas Alva Edison is one of the most influential people of his time. This native born
Ohioan is credited with many invention that we use today and that many of us take for granted.
Countless hours of hard work went into everything he accomplished. That drive is what made him the
man he was and defined him as an individual.
Thomas Edison was born February 11, 1847 in Milan, Ohio. He was the seventh and last child of
Samuel Edison, Jr. and Nancy Elliot Edison. His parents had no special mechanical background. His
mother was a former schoolteacher; his father was a jack of all trades from running a grocery store to

Edison replied, Genius is hard work, stick to itiveness, and common sense . But his common sense
was very uncommon. More patents were issued to Edison than have been issued to any other single
person in U. S. history: 1,093. A patent is something that says no one can copy your idea. When
Edison was 12 years old, he took a job as a train boy on the Grand Trunk Railway. The train traveled
from Port Huron, to Detroit, and back to Port Huron, all in one day. Thomas sold newspapers and
candy to passengers. He also printed a weekly newspaper, the Weekly Herald. He spent all he earned
on books and equipment for his chemical laboratory. After about a year, he got permission to move his
home science laboratory to the train baggage car. He did his science experiments during the five hour
layover in Detroit. But one day the train lurched, spilled chemicals, and the lab caught fire. The train
conductor threw Thomas and his chemicals off the train. His next job was selling newspapers at
stations along the railroad.
Nine years before Edison was born, Samuel F. B. Morse was famous for inventing the telegraph. The
telegraph sent messages over wires using Morse code . In Morse code, the alphabet and numbers are
written in combinations of dots, dashes, and short and long sounds. By the time Edison began doing
experiments, telegraph lines went across the country. He wanted to learn how to be a telegrapher and

Comparing The Lost Boys, Dracula and Peter-Pan Essay

The story of Dracula has many components of it used in the film The Lost Boys. The comparison s

The Power Of Language In Denis Villeneuve s Arrival
Denis Villeneuve s 2016 film Arrival is a hallmark of science fiction, relying on standard genre tropes,
but, on a deeper level, serving to expand the boundaries of what a science fiction piece can be and
what topics it can broach. Though simple in premise, the film actually poses a complex narrative that
carries deep and thought provoking undertones, which supplies it with an unusual weight when
compared to most science fiction films. Simplistically, linguistic expert Louise Banks, with the aid of
physicist Ian Donnelly, is tasked with interpreting the language of extraterrestrial beings following the
arrival of 12 alien spacecrafts spread across the globe. More complexly the film touches upon such
ideas as global unification, cultural diversity and understanding, gender roles, influences of mass
media, and governmental cooperation. However, the film s primary concern is with the role of
communication in global connectivity, and how language barriers can inhibit this connectivity. Indeed,
the film s key theme is the importance communication through shared language to establish cross
cultural understanding. In the following paragraphs, certain cinematic elements including genre,
narrative, editing, and sound design will be discussed in correlation with various scenes to highlight
how the use of these elements promotes the power of language and communication. Firstly, it is

How Helicopter Track And Balance
Helicopters have the unique ability to take off, hover, and land anywhere, unlike traditional planes.
Along with providing lift, helicopter main rotors are the source of destructive vibrations that can
severely damage the aircraft, if not dealt with properly. Helicopter track and balance, or rotor
smoothing is a maintenance procedure done to minimize airframe vibrations that consequently cause
cracks, crew fatigue, and premature component failure. Track and balance is both time consuming and
expensive, so improvements to the process have been what many technicians and companies want. It
is often joked about the A helicopter is a million parts rapidly rotating around an oil leak, waiting for

The data was reliable and repeatable with unskilled users, which lead to a better and more accurate
adjustment. Track and balance using vibration sensors is the method we use today. Accelerometers
mounted in fixed positions, vertically and laterally. The accelerometers measure in units of inches per
second (IPS). Soon many realized that the track or the height of the blades relative to each other is not
the important thing. If a blade wanted to fly six inches higher than the leading one, this was fine as
long as the IPS reduced to an acceptable level. This is where the term rotor smoothing comes from.
No one cares about the height of the track, it is really only looked at to identify a bad blade. What
matters is how smooth the aircraft fly s. Even though track and balance using vibration sensors is the
method we use today, there are many manufactures of this test equipment. A few are; GE Aviation
Vibration Analyzer (AVA), Chadwick Vibrex, Helitune RT 5JS, and many others. Since there are many

Spokane Indian tribe, but to no less than 13 additional groups (Basketball players, cartoonists,

necessary in the railway system at design stage.
Because of designing the track layout through calculate the train movement is a complicated
procedure, which need to design a program for simulate the train performance to analyze how to

Themes Of Big Black Good Man
In the short story Big Black Good Man by Richard Wright there are few different themes that take
place in the story. This story is about an old man, named Olaf Jenson, that was a night porter in a
cheap hotel on the waterfront in Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark. On one night, Olaf talked to
himself about how there were only three rooms left, and he was going to take a nap because it was
midnight. Before Olaf could take a nap, a big black man came into his hotel looking for a room and a
whore. Within this story, there are three themes that are important, and the themes are judgment, fear,
and suspense.
The first theme in the short story Big Black Good Man is judgment. Since the very first time Olaf, the
hotel clerk, lays eyes on Jim, the biggest, strangest, and the blackest man he d ever seen, he lays
judgment upon him because of how dark and large he was. For a majority of the short story, Olaf
refers to Jim as the black giant. Olaf judged Jim because of his size, how loud he was, and how black
he was, and Olaf assumed he was going to be too violent. Olaf was determined to deny the big black
man a room because of the man s color and size.
The second theme in this short story is fear. Olaf became frightened of Jim the closer he got and the
more he spoke. Jim was about six and a half feet tall, and his voice was very deep. Every time Jim
spoke, he probably shook the entire hotel. These features of Jim frightened Olaf. Olaf wanted to deny
Jim a room to stay, but Jim

New Englanders vs. Chesapeakers (there is no such thing a a Chesapeaker) The people of the New
England region were focused more on families and God. Most of the settlers had left England to be
free from religious control of The Church of England. Many of the religious people left because they
sought God in a different way and were being repressed by the Christians (how?) because of it. The
New Englanders were also more of a neighboring settlement than the Chesapeake region. On board,

The colonists did not want shop owners to increase prices so high that they would become poor trying

enrich themselves suddenly and inordinately (by opposing prices and wages to the impoverishing [of]

Chesapeake region were not so in touch with family, fair trade, and neighborly love. The people of the
Chesapeake region were there for one reason to get rich quick. They did not move to the New World
for freedom of religion or to get in touch more with their family. In fact may of the people that moved
to the New World came over alone and without families. Document C shows that there were many
more men than women that came over and these men most likely did not come over with wives
because most might not of had one (Doc C). These colonists had no interest in family life, only in
making money. They even got off to a rough start when they would die in (die of what?)the first

Examples Of Chivalry In Beowulf
Some say chivalry is dead , I don t think so. Chivalry is a code of conduct governing a knight s
behavior. It s the combination of qualities expected of an ideal person, especially bravery, loyalty, and
honor. One of the main elements of chivalry is bravery, in the story we read Beowulf s last Battle, an
example of braver was , He could see how his king was suffering ... Wiglaf mind was made up ; he
raised his yellow shield and drew his sword. in the story Wiglaf went back to help his king fight, that
showed bravery. An example of bravery today is people going/volunteer in the military and army. That
shows bravery because, you re sacrificing your life for other and your country. The second element of
chivalry is loyalty, in the story we read called Le Monte d Arthur, an example of loyalty was My lords,
I am reluctant to shed christian blood in a war against my own liege. He is showing loyalty to his king
by not wanting to go to war with him. An example of Loyalty today is people being loyal to their
country, like pledging to the flag, that shows loyalty to your country. ... Show more content on

The Temple Of Athena Nike
The Temple of Athena Nike was built around 447 424 B.C.E. It was made in the southwest corner of
the Acropolis in Athens, Greece. This Temple was made of marble making it look classy and elegant
for a goddess. Since Marble was such a rich material it was needed for a victor, which is why the
temple was named Athena Nike. Nike means victory in the Greek language and Athena was the
goddess of war and wisdom. The columns were made monolithic, so it was all made out of one big
stone. The marble used was indigenous to the land in Athens, where it was made. In the frieze of the
temple Athena is in a twisted perspective form, meaning she looks as if she could be moving but her
shoulders are turned forward. However, most images in the frieze are ambiguous,

The Experimental Side Of Documentary Practice
Introduction
This project aims to further develop the experimental side of documentary practice, with special focus
on ethnography. It will take the form of an experimental documentary juxtaposing enactments of the
past with depictions of the present, through a case study focusing on North Eastern Romanian villages,
engaging villagers into re enactments of traditional life from the past as method of documenting their
self reflection on the transition to the present.
The setting of the re enactments is based on the Romanian ballad The Little Ewe and more specifically
on the journey described in the Mihail Sadoveanu novel inspired by it, The Hatchet (1930). These two
texts are widely known in Romania having become compulsory reading material in schools as one of
the four fundamental myths of Romanians and a monographic representation of the Romanian village
and its customs respectively. The main themes of the two stories are transhumance and death, both
highlighting the traditions and the way of life of shepherding communities. Furthering the reasons for
this choice, these texts have become engrained into the collective consciousness of Romanian people
as to become an unconscious memory.
Its relevance within ethnographic practice is given by the documentation of the transition process from
traditional to modernity within the Romanian village, as well as its universal exploration of humans
facing change and their ways to adapt to it.
I will interrogate documentary practices

What Makes a Just Society Essay
What Makes A Just Society?
Throughout history, people have been trying to create an improved, fair, and equal system of justice,
not only to better society in which one lives, but to also find a sense of meaning in what
responsibilities people should hold within their civilizations in order to create this just way of living.
As early as the Old Testament within the Bible, we see examples of how the Hebrews formed their
own justice. This can be seen in the in text of the Ten Commandments which were written in a form of
law. Laws were significant even in this basic form of context, such as the Ten Commandments, which
offered the ideas of right and wrongdoings and the sin for violating others for one s own benefit. This

The idea then of a just society I contend, comes down to people living under a fair and common law,
order, political system, social organization, as well as everyone having personal and political freedom.
Many people, besides myself, have also contemplated this question, whether a utopian society could
exist, and have put forth their own theories. Karl Marx and John Rawls are two thinkers that
questioned what the theory of justice. Marx believed that history was always moving forward towards
a utopian ending. Marx disliked injustice and declared this in his Communist Manifesto in 1846. His
theory is centered on the idea that forms of society rise and fall as they develop and then became an
obstacle for the development of human productive power and reality is governed by economic needs.
This belief means that the present organization of society must be destroyed. To establish this new
society, people must be organized and take up the struggle against the capitalists who take advantage
of them. This struggle, according to Marx, will end in victory for the workers. However, Marx was
unable to discover what laws and principles that would produce the just society in which he strived
for. John Rawls was the second most important political thinker of his time. His main contribution to
the idea of a civil society is his theory of justice. Rawls believed in social primary goods which
included rights,

Case Analysis Of LAnd V Contractors, Llc V. Heritage...
Case Summary
In the case of L and V Contractors, LLC v. Heritage Warranty Insurance Risk Retention Group, Inc., et
al the vehicle owner and plaintiff, Alejandro Leone sued AAMCO and Drive Train for fraudulent and
negligent misrepresentation and statutory theft. Claims were also bought against Heritage Insurance.
The charges against the aforementioned defendants stem for the interactions the plaintiff had with
each party.
The following events lead to the case against the defendants. In 2002, Leone purchased a van with
extended warranty through Heritage Insurance. Leone wanted his van repaired when the transmission
failed, and brought it to Crowley Chevrolet. Heritage Insurance refused to pay Crowley Chevrolet
repair rates, so the vehicle was brought to Drive Train in East Hartford. Heritage Insurance authorized
Drive Train to examine the vehicle, but then refused to pay the shop.
The vehicle remained there for about month before Leone received a letter from Drive Train owner,
Gary Gross stated Leone failed to respond and his vehicle remained in the shop. A lien would be
placed on the vehicle, and it will be sold at an auction. Leone would also have to pay storage fees for
each day the vehicle remained at the shop. A few days later Leone went to Drive Train letting Gross
know that he was trying to work out the payment with Heritage Insurance.
On March 2008, Leone received another letter stating his vehicle was to be auctioned. It should be
noted that all the letters he

Consequences Of Sexualism In Advertising
Sexuality has been a popular tool to use in advertising for the past decades. It has been proven that
people will more likely view an advertisement if it has some form of erotica in it. As said by Dov
Davidoff , Sex sells, unless you re dehydrated in which case you d be much more likely to purchase
water. Even though using sex appeals to sell may have been an effective mechanism to use, sexual
imagery is not the only thing that is being sold and a profit is not the only output. Utilizing sex in
advertising is not black and white, there are many outcomes of selling sex. The effects of selling sex is
not just money but, it can lead to long term societal consequences. This research paper will discuss the
factors that are influenced by implementation of eroticism in commercialism such as women, children
and controversy. Commonly sensual commercials showcase women that are modeled to be real
women. These women have no wrinkles, dazzling bright eyes, the perfect body, pearly white teeth and
many more features that not the everyday women does not have. According to The Balance,
Advertising, marketing, and the fashion industry have created a new type of woman that does not exist
in the real world. Commercials present these women often in commercials in bikinis or revealing
clothing making the average women want to be them and men are told from an early that these are the
ideal women. Women are told from an young age as well that they must be the women they see in

Essay about The Establishment of Globalization
Traditional international trade involves a complex system of trade barriers to ensure the protection of
domestic industry and its workers interests. The trade impediments and subsidies include protective
tariffs, import quotas, non tariff barriers such as licensing, and export subsidies. Originally, a country s
economy acted independently of other nations. The growing trend since the establishment of GATT in
1947 is globalization.
Introduction
In globalization, a country acts as a part of a free trading community consisting of member nations
around the globe. As a trading community, trade problems can easily be resolved through negotiations
rather than a trade war (McConnell 104 105). The US government employs the use of protective ...

Lion King and Hamlet
Similarities and Differences Between The Lion King and Hamlet
As innocent and young the Disney movie The Lion King may seem, it is, indeed, loosely based off of
the renowned Shakespeare play Hamlet . It would seem strange to the typical audiences of each, but
when looked at closer, it is seen that they are actually related underneath the youthful, animated
surface of The Lion King.
One of the main aspects that connects The Lion King and Hamlet is the characters. Simba and Hamlet
are both princes of their kingdoms. Hamlet, a man, and Simba, a lion cub, are in the same situation
which is coping with and avenging their fathers deaths. Hamlet goes crazy and creates a whole plan of
revenge but Simba simply runs from the problem altogether ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

An enormous range of people was reached between these two works of literature.
The fact that animals were used in The Lion King is almost ironic. This is true because not only were
the characters in The Lion King more civil, but the people in Hamlet acted more like animals
territorial, aggressive, immature, and thoughtless. The irony in The Lion King continues with a line
from Pumbaa, All this time I thought that all of the sparkly dots in the sky were big balls of burning
gas billions of miles away. Rafiki, the baboon that acts almost as Simba s conscience, calls Simba a
baboon because he won t go back to his pride.
Another similarity between the two is the sighting of the father s ghost. Simba sees it and it serves as
his revelation moment before he returns to his pride. For Hamlet, his father s ghost is his cue to
avenge Hamlet Sr. s death. The word wind is used several times throughout Hamlet and it is also used
in one of Simba s lines before he sees Mufassa s ghost.
The end of Hamlet is completely different from that of The Lion King. As most Disney movies go,
there is a happy ending and all is well after justice is served. Shakespeare takes a different position. At
the end of Hamlet, almost everyone dies. The only survivor is Marcellus, the extremely faithful and
supportive best friend of Hamlet through the entire play. However, at the end of The Lion King, Zazu
who was held captive by Scar and the hyenas is set free. Scar is the only one

  • 2. Frank O Connor s Guests of the Nation In Frank O Connor s Guests of the Nation, the narrator, called Bonaparte by his fellow rebels, recounts his reluctant role in the execution of two English soldiers in retaliation for the slaughter of four Irish rebels. O Connor develops this conflict between revolutionary attitudes in the strained relationship between the narrator and Jeremiah Donovan, the experienced rebel, who has the responsibility for fulfilling the Second Battalion s order to shoot the prisoners. The young revolutionary Bonaparte discovers, in his imprudent acceptance of group values, evil within himself. Against his ideal of actions appropriate to him as an individual, Bonaparte and his fellow revolutionary Noble, at the insistence of their superior officer who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He is driven by his obligations to the military instructions that have been given to him by Feeney. He chooses to follow these orders and blame the deliberate inhumanity of the killings on his duty to the Irish cause (Mowery). Donovan and Feeney place devotion to the cause above humanity (Renner). Despite serious reservations, Bonaparte and Noble go along with the plan for the execution. What prevails their moral objection is the pressure exerted by their peers (Donovan and Feeney, the local intelligence officer) and by the social situation. According to Michael Neary, the two men are disillusioned by the orders to execute their good natured and thoroughly harmless English prisoners. Still, they refuse to assume responsibility for their own and their prisoners destiny. Ironically named after Napoleon Bonaparte, a military leader in every aspect, O Connor s Bonaparte is the most reluctant and inexperienced of soldiers. Although he believes he wants to engage in combat, by the end of the story, as Noble feels ignoble, Bonaparte feels disgusted with the militarism his name suggests (Evans). The young Bonaparte struggles with the tormenting conflict between loyalty to his group and loyalty to his own developing sense of right and wrong. As the moment of execution nears, the older narrator further indicates his changing values by condemning Donovan s explanations as the usual rigmarole and by contrasting Donovan s cold and excited voice with Belcher s ... • 3. A Dilemma and My Solution Based On Utilitarianism Ethical... A Dilemma and My Solution Based On Utilitarianism Ethical Model (Assignment # 1) Prepared by : Efren A. Course Section : GNED212 091 Instructor : Mr. Paul B. Class : Friday Afternoons Part 1: Utilitarianism Ethical Model Many people from all walks of life have trouble making decisions in their everyday lives, especially on tough or critical situations that may even involve life and death considerations. To address this issue, there are four ethical models and four ethical principles developed as guidance in making decisions in an ethical way. One of the four ethical models is the Utilitarianism. This model is based on the principle that the best decision is the one that gives benefits to most or causes harm to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So long as a course of action produces maximum benefits for everyone, utilitarianism does not care whether the benefits are produced by lies, manipulation, or coercion (Manuel Velasquez, 1989). Utilitarianism ethics has two types. One is act utilitarianism and the other is rule utilitarianism. Act utilitarianism conforms to the description of utilitarianism mentioned above while rule utilitarianism considers also the adherence to the law and fairness of the decision. A rule utilitarian seeks to benefit the most people but through the fairest and most just means available. Therefore, added benefits of rule utilitarianism are that it values justice and includes beneficence at the same time (Rainbow). However, utilitarianism (both act and rule) has numerous flaws like in all other theories. First, there is uncertainty as to the outcome which is the basis of the decision. Outcomes maybe inferred from life experiences or from logical evaluations but no one can be certain of the actual outcome in the future. Wrong prediction of the outcomes resulting to less benefit or more harm, makes the utilitarian decision as unethical. Second, predicted outcomes of different nature like money (tangible) against happiness (intangible) are not really comparable, making a quantified advantage of the other is debatable. Last but not the least, there ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Examples Of Sexism In Television Shows Nowadays, many of the television programs that many of us watch are usually sexist within their dialogue. However, many of us are unaware of this because our attention is being entertained by the show itself; so, we do not take the time to analyze and notice what we are truly watching. Many of us are being sidetracked by the different situations/entertainment found in the show. For instance, some examples used to cover up sexism in a television show are: comedy/humor, drama, sexuality, and violence; however, television shows are not the only ones that use this, movies and advertisements do too. The different examples, pull one s attention into the situation, rather than the dialogue occurring between characters and how they speak to one another. However, there are ways to unravel the sex linked differences between characters in television programs; we can analyze the different forms in which different sex, age, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, and educational level individuals speak to one another. The intent of analyzing a television show is to demonstrate the sex linked differences between a family and their gender roles and humor and drama are used to hide sexism. Furthermore, the sitcom The Middle will be used in order to prove and evaluate the sexism that still occurs in many television programs. The television program: The Middle, is a sitcom based on a family (the Hecks) of five, whom are: mother (Frankie, 52), father (Mike, 54), son (Axl, 23), daughter (Sue, 21), ... • 5. Comparing The Epic Of Gilgamesh And The Flood The Epic of Gilgamesh tells the tale of Gilgamesh, the demigod king of Uruk, and his epic quest to find eternal life, after his best friend, Enkidu, dies. On this journey, Gilgamesh seeks the help of Utnapishtim, who tells his story about the flood he survived. This flood story is extremely similar to the one told in the Bible. After breaking down both stories and looking especially at the reasons for the flood, amount of destruction, and the way to find land after, it becomes apparent that ideas were taken from one and slightly changed to accommodate the other story. Everything happens for a reason, and even gods are included in this rule of thumb. In both stories, clear reasons are laid out for the floods. The gods in Utnapishtim s story flood the earth because they are simply annoyed with the people and decide it is time for a great flood. While in the Bible, God floods the earth because of the pure wickedness that resides in the human race. The common thread between the flood s purpose is human fault. The gods in the stories both decide to send a flood because of the way humans have turned out, and the gods are not happy with the way the people act. Though it is human flaw that causes the floods, different flaws cause each flood. In Utnapishtim s story, he is chosen to survive and he has to tell the leaders You have learned that Enil the was god despised you and will not give you access to the city anymore, and For this Ea will bring the rains. NIBIN, or the National Integrated Ballistic Information Network, allows prompt and easy identification of ballistics information from across the country (ATF.) It was formed in the 1990 s in conjunction with law enforcement and is run under the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF.) The program is able to automate ballistics evaluations, a process that previously took a lot longer. Explain the value chain for gold mining firms (how can a mine create a competitive advantage relative to its rivals). What are the factors that may explain exceptional performance of ABX relative to the other gold mines? To create a competitive advantage, a mine has to properly manage its exposure to gold price fluctuations. This is not an easy thing to do since there are so many factors to consider: when, how much, and how to hedge the gold production. For every 1% change in gold prices, how might its stock price be affected? How could the firm manage its gold price exposure without the use of financial contracts? If American Barrick wanted to protect itself from gold price exposure without the use of financial contracts, it could use natural hedges. One way to hedge against undesired risk is to match cash flows such as revenues and expenses. In other words, a commodity producer such as American Barrick, which has revenues payables in U.S. dollars and incurs cash outflows in a different currency, will try to match its outflows to its expected inflows in the foreign currency. Another way of hedging against risk is the purchase of insurance to protect against financial loss due to external influences. It is also common to hedge gold investments against fluctuations of the U.S. dollar. It is extremely important for commodity traders to know which currency is correlated with what commodity in order to be able to predict certain market movements; for instance, there is often a negative correlation between gold and S amp;P 500. c. I agree with the argument of Clifford Stoll as the usage of technology simply motivates students to procrastinate, rely heavily on online resources and lose interest in class activities. Technology provides a distraction for students as they would rather watch TV or play video games. Clifford Stoll argues, If kids watch too much TV, why bring multimedia video systems into schools. • 30. The Experimental Side Of Documentary Practice Introduction This project aims to further develop the experimental side of documentary practice, with special focus on ethnography. It will take the form of an experimental documentary juxtaposing enactments of the past with depictions of the present, through a case study focusing on North Eastern Romanian villages, engaging villagers into re enactments of traditional life from the past as method of documenting their self reflection on the transition to the present. The setting of the re enactments is based on the Romanian ballad The Little Ewe and more specifically on the journey described in the Mihail Sadoveanu novel inspired by it, The Hatchet (1930). These two texts are widely known in Romania having become compulsory reading material in schools as one of the four fundamental myths of Romanians and a monographic representation of the Romanian village and its customs respectively. The main themes of the two stories are transhumance and death, both highlighting the traditions and the way of life of shepherding communities. Furthering the reasons for this choice, these texts have become engrained into the collective consciousness of Romanian people as to become an unconscious memory. Its relevance within ethnographic practice is given by the documentation of the transition process from traditional to modernity within the Romanian village, as well as its universal exploration of humans facing change and their ways to adapt to it. I will interrogate documentary practices ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Karl Marx and John Rawls are two thinkers that questioned what the theory of justice. Marx believed that history was always moving forward towards a utopian ending. Marx disliked injustice and declared this in his Communist Manifesto in 1846. His theory is centered on the idea that forms of society rise and fall as they develop and then became an obstacle for the development of human productive power and reality is governed by economic needs. This belief means that the present organization of society must be destroyed. To establish this new society, people must be organized and take up the struggle against the capitalists who take advantage of them. This struggle, according to Marx, will end in victory for the workers. However, Marx was unable to discover what laws and principles that would produce the just society in which he strived for. John Rawls was the second most important political thinker of his time. His main contribution to the idea of a civil society is his theory of justice. • 37. Lion King and Hamlet Similarities and Differences Between The Lion King and Hamlet As innocent and young the Disney movie The Lion King may seem, it is, indeed, loosely based off of the renowned Shakespeare play Hamlet . It would seem strange to the typical audiences of each, but when looked at closer, it is seen that they are actually related underneath the youthful, animated surface of The Lion King. One of the main aspects that connects The Lion King and Hamlet is the characters. Simba and Hamlet are both princes of their kingdoms. Hamlet, a man, and Simba, a lion cub, are in the same situation which is coping with and avenging their fathers deaths. Hamlet goes crazy and creates a whole plan of revenge but Simba simply runs from the problem altogether ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An enormous range of people was reached between these two works of literature. The fact that animals were used in The Lion King is almost ironic. This is true because not only were the characters in The Lion King more civil, but the people in Hamlet acted more like animals territorial, aggressive, immature, and thoughtless. The irony in The Lion King continues with a line from Pumbaa, All this time I thought that all of the sparkly dots in the sky were big balls of burning gas billions of miles away. Rafiki, the baboon that acts almost as Simba s conscience, calls Simba a baboon because he won t go back to his pride. Another similarity between the two is the sighting of the father s ghost. Simba sees it and it serves as his revelation moment before he returns to his pride. For Hamlet, his father s ghost is his cue to avenge Hamlet Sr. s death. The word wind is used several times throughout Hamlet and it is also used in one of Simba s lines before he sees Mufassa s ghost. The end of Hamlet is completely different from that of The Lion King. As most Disney movies go, there is a happy ending and all is well after justice is served. Shakespeare takes a different position. At the end of Hamlet, almost everyone dies. The only survivor is Marcellus, the extremely faithful and supportive best friend of Hamlet through the entire play. However, at the end of The Lion King, Zazu who was held captive by Scar and the hyenas is set free. Scar is the only one ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
