Case Study On Strategic Segmentation
Thus, this research seeks to better understand the processes used by organisations in the development
of a successful strategic segmentation, as well as its impact and influence on consumer s preferences
and behaviour. The methodology initially developed was both quantitative and qualitative, by the
means of Triangulation. As developed by Hammersley (1996) and later on stated by Lee and Lings
(2008), Triangulation allows the researcher to mix both quantitative and qualitative methods, in order
to achieve a more exact and consistent result.
Based on this method, the research strategy developed was to collect information on British
companies, so to understand which communication and marketing strategies were being developed
when targeting audiences. Furthermore, this information would be used during the process of
collecting qualitative data over consumers of these brands. In the latter, the objective was to
understand their perspective and attitude towards the product and brand. Finally, this ... Show more

This will allow us to understand the level of success of their marketing strategies, as well as to analyse
if there is a discrepancy of perspectives on people from the same consumer segment. More in depth,
this case study has become an alternative to the original methodology chosen for this research, which
was to be based upon UK telecommunication companies and the comparison between their marketing
strategies and its impact on consumers.
Finally, this will give us a better understanding on the following empirical examination: organisational
understanding over consumers and how they select the most appropriate variables for segmentation;
how consumers respond to it and their heterogeneity; how vast is the use of new segmentation

History of Austrlia
Imagine... What it would be like to be to start again? What it would be like to spend weeks and weeks
in a ship with thousands of others? What is would be like to watch others around you die from the
terrible conditions and diseases that they have been exposed to? When asked questions about things
we have never experienced before it is hard to give a proper answer, all you can do is assume and
imagine but you can never give an exact precise response. So when asked if Australia was a Fatal
shore for everyone or if it was a land of opportunity, all you can do is assume and imagine based on
the available information provided because you don t really know the answer because you have not
experienced it firsthand. From the information provided, Australia was more of a Fatal Shore than it
was a land of opportunity. For both convicts and free settlers life in Australia was extremely harsh.
The lifestyle of Australia was extremely different to the environment that they were used to back home
in England and it would have been hard for them to adapt to. However life in Australia wasn t all that
bad, for most of the convicts it was a second chance at life and for the free settlers it was a great
opportunity to make their fortune. The working conditions that the convicts in early colonial Australia
had to endure were incredibly severe. The working environment that the convicts suffered is evidence
of the brutality that existed. Many off the convicts that arrived in Sydney had

Rock And Roll In The 1950s
1950 s
Introduction
The 1950s was largely dominated by Rock and Roll as the Rock and Roll era had emerged. This Genre
of music developed from other styles of music such as country, Jazz, and gospel.
One Reason for the sudden emergence of Rock and Roll was because of the likes of Elvis Presley,
Chuck Berry, Fats Domino and other Rock and Roll icons that have transformed music, as we know it.
Pioneer of Rock and Roll
During the early 50s, many artists were coming out with there own Rock and Roll songs making it
difficult for us to identify who was the pioneer of Rock and Roll. Today most people think of Elvis
Presley when they hear Rock and Roll however the very first Rock and Roll hit was called Rock
around the Clock by Bill Haley and his Comets. This song released in 1955 was considered to be the
first international hit that spread to millions across the globe, but it wasn t the first Rock song written.
... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The difference between these two early Rock songs is that with more knowledge about the genre Rock
around the Clock grabbed a larger audience. What made it an international hit is what makes most
rock songs today a hit. A mix of different instruments such as the saxophone, drums and the guitar,
and although the lyrics are repetitive, it s almost like they become hypnotic to the listener.
Culture Although its true that Rock and Roll was developed from other styles of music but it was
actually the mix of Black culture and white spreading that truly advanced it. As Black artists and
bands like the Dominoes began to combine gospel music and add more aggressive rhymes to them
creating rock and roll. After these song began reaching a wider audience being the White teens who
enjoyed this type of thrilling music. After this type of music spread Rock and roll was now based
around the image of Elvis

Similarities Between Midaq Alley And The Yacoubian Building
In the novels Midaq Alley and The Yacoubian Building, we are shown the ongoing, daily struggles of
the working poor in both colonial and postcolonial Egypt. Both share central, overarching themes such
as debauchery, desperation, and unstable political situations. The two settings are both examples of
microcosms, cities within a city . Midaq Alley is a small, dead end neighborhood in 1940 s Cairo that
consists of various shops and apartments. Within each of these buildings are characters that live
completely separate lives but all have the same aspirations, to experience the world outside and the
wealth it has. The Yacoubian Building is also set in Cairo during the turbulent 1990 s. Similarly, the
characters were all tenants of a large apartment building, living in cramped and decrepit spaces.
Promiscuity played a large role for multiple characters in both novels. Jealousy, infidelity, and
homosexuality are all depicted openly and all have central parts in the separate stories. Midaq Alley
introduced us to the character Hamida, an impoverished young woman who is desperate to find a
partner who is financially stable. As she explored a relationship with Abbas, another prominent figure
was also trying to flatter her. Knowing that she sought someone with money, Salim Alwan, an older,
wealthy businessman with voracious sexual desires had an intense lust for Hamida. A character who
was in a similar situation to Hamida is Busayna from The Yacoubian Building. While she was trying

Common Law and National Consumer Law
Chapter 1 1. Why did common law become so rigid and inflexible? Answer: By the reign of henry II,
the practice of sending the royal justice throughout the country on circuit began to result in fairly
uniform body of law developing around the country the common law. The judges were assisted in
finding an agreement among them by keeping records known as plea rolls. They set out not only the
facts of each case and judgement, but often the reasoning behind the judgement, in much the same
way as the modern law reports does. During the reign of henry II writs came into wide use. They were
purchased from the king s clerks of chancery and stated the complaint, ordering the name person
either to right the wrong or to show the king s justices ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Explain Answer: law is basically a device to regulate the economic and social behaviour of society.
Generally laws are created by people to maintain harmony in the society and the country. As people
have to follow the certain rules of the country or society, there is a sense of responsibility people feel.
If people lived in complete isolation and didn t carry on any economic activity or recognise any
superior authority, there would be no need for laws to exist because there would be nothing to regulate
or control. However, the reality is otherwise. People don t live in complete isolation and economic
activity is carried on. The law, as regulatory device, provides the mechanism for society to function by
prioritising needs and desires through tools such as legislation. All these laws are made by the
superiors at the higher stages. Even the people establishing these laws have to follow the same laws so
it has to be made regarding the needs of the people. The people creating laws have the power to
organise all these laws and should be pass the law according to the demand of time and the need of the
people. All the other tests cannot be ignored as law because they at some stages describe law. But
somehow other statements are less effective. Like, law is not only a command by a political superiors
because all kinds of law are not commanded by political superiors or inferiors. It could be family law
commanded by the eldest

Changes Since The Sixties Essay
There were no time guzzling metal detectors at the airports... or the schools. There were no grouchy
warning labels on the records and no ratings necessary on the movies. And TV shows were acceptable
to the whole family. Those were the sixties or at least part of it. Some of the 52 million sixties
boomers called it the decade of peace, harmony and love mainly for the movement for peace and the
flower power attitude. Others, a little more pessimistic, called it the decade of dissatisfaction because
of the protests against the war and the race riots in many cities. For the teenagers it was the decade of
sweet sounding, good time rock n roll...from the Beatles to the Kinks and many more in between. Still
for others it was filled with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Today the film industry is booming. The film industry also makes more than 200 movies a year so
they can usually film within the country. However both today and in the sixties film was in color and
both decades targeted younger audiences. Movie ticket prices have also increased. An average movie
ticket in the sixties cost about thirty eight cents, whereas today tickets cost between five and eight
dollars.
Literature techniques and topics chosen by authors reflected the social changes and interests of the
sixties. Some writers focused on traditional issues, others reflected the cultural conflicts made by the
Civil Rights movement, the coming of age of the post war baby boomers and the war in Vietnam.
Popular book genres of the sixties were romance, science fiction, and fantasy. Slaughterhouse Five
and Stranger in A Strange Land are just two examples. Today people enjoy reading fantasy and non
fiction novels as well. Although they also buy dating books such as He s Just Not That into You and
dieting books like The Zone Diet. The sixties was a good decade for non fiction in general. Both
Growing Up Absurd and Feminine Mystique did well with readers. Non fiction and fiction today don t
really compete since they have separate bestsellers list. However both are doing well with the Da
Vinci Code and My Life So Far on a Bestsellers List. Young Adult books in the sixties became
controversial for their critical observations of adults like Catcher in the Rye by

The Fundamental Concepts Of Statistics
Question 5
This paper will provide a sample of the fundamental concepts in statistics. During research there is
usually variance between individuals within a group or between different groups. During hypothesis
testing the researcher wants to know if the sample of data collected is truly representative of the entire
population.
Null hypothesis testing is concerned with the correlation or differences in means (continuous data)
between groups. The null hypothesis works on the premise that there is no difference between two
groups such as males and females who respond to a set of items (independent sample T test). The null
hypothesis can also be described as the hypothesized mean being equal to the population mean. So the
null hypothesis is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Whereas, if I fail to reject the null, because I believe the groups are the same when, in fact, they are
different this is a type 2 error. In its simplest terms, Type I error is the incorrect rejection of the null
hypothesis, whereas Type II is the incorrect acceptance of the null hypothesis.
Related to hypothesis testing is the Significance level or cut off point (alpha). The P or the probability
value is one of the indicators that can be used to test the null hypothesis. Usually a significance level =
.05 (95% confidence interval) or lower is the accepted rule for rejecting the null hypothesis. This
means that we will accept up to 5% of type 1 error. Also, P 0.01 sometimes is referred to as
statistically highly significant. If the p value is .05, then we would reject the null hypothesis. Visually,
on a bell curve (two tailed test) this can be presented as the critical region or how far our sample
statistic is from the null hypothesis. In relation to P values there is the confidence interval (or bound).
A 0.05 level of significance would be centered on a 95% confidence interval. If our given value sits
outside the bound we would reject the null. However, if our value sits within the interval we would not
reject the null hypothesis.
Another concern during research is the issue of sampling error due to only a portion of the population
being used during a study. Even when bias is reduced by random sampling the

Confederate Flag Research Paper
We all have heard the romantic story of our flag. How Betsy Ross sat in her living room all night,
sewing together the stars and stripes. Today, Betsy s masterpiece still flies high all around our country,
but, in many of the southern states, there is a second flag that flies with it. The Confederate flag. The
birth story of this war flag is not romantic in any shape or form. During the Civil War, there was much
confusion on the battlefield between the original Confederate flag, Stars and Bars , and our Stars and
Stripes . So the leaders of the Confederates had their Committee on the Flag and Seal create a totally
different flag to use for the battlefield, and they would use their original flag for parades. Hence, the
birth of the Confederate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Like many armies, the Confederates decided to make statues and monuments for the men and women
who did a spectacular thing. The United Daughters of the Confederacy memorial was put up in 1934
and dedicated to the Loyal Women of the Old South . The Augusta Confederate Monument in
Augusta, Georgia was dedicated 1878 in to represent Private Benson, General Robert E. Lee, General
Stonewall Jackson, General T.R.R. Cobb and General W.H.T. And the most common memorial, the
Confederate Flag itself. There are eight statues dedicated to Confederate war heroes in Washington
D.C. at the National Statuary Hall Collection. There is a statue for Jefferson Davis, a statue for
Alexander Stephens, a statue for Joseph Wheeler, a statue for Colonel Zebulon Baird Vance, a statue
for General Robert E. Lee, for James Z. George, for Wade Hampton III, for Edmund Kirby, for John
E. Kenna, and for Chancellor Uriah M. Rose. All of these men and women are being commemorated
for their excellent work in the war for slavery. These people thought of other races to be worth less
than dirt; they couldn t have cared less about these people. In fact, they didn t even see other races as
human beings. After centuries of white supremacy, we have finally been convinced that other races are
just as valuable as us. So why do we still have these statues? Why do we still hold these men and
women at such a high

Speech On Painkillers
It s only natural to head straight for your medicine cabinet when you feel a headache coming on, but
did you know that you re actually putting yourself in danger by relying on painkillers every time you
have a migraine or eye fatigue? Overconsumption of painkillers can and almost always does lead to
the body developing a tolerance to them, which makes your regular dosage ineffective, meaning you
have to increase the number of painkillers you take to get rid of your headache. This, in turn, can
cause you to develop an addiction to painkillers, something that about 10% of Americans are believed
to suffer from.
In order to avoid becoming reliant on painkillers and to ensure they are effective when you do use

If you re one of the 28 million Americans who are left deabilited by migraines, you should pay careful
attention to this entry. In cases of severe sinusitis and migraines that refuse to subside, bypass all
previously mentioned pressure points and go straight to the Tian Zhu points.
The Tian Zhu points are unique in that they are located on the back of head. They rest just above the
sides of the neck, where the spine runs into the hairline. Applying pressure to the Tian Zhu points will
ease, and, in some cases, eradicate migraines so that you no longer have to spend hours lying in a
darkened room when you re supposed to be working. The one downside of the Tian Zhu points is that
it can be a challenge to reach them by yourself, so you may need a family member or particularly
obliging colleague to squeeze them for you.

Naturally you will want to do some research in to the potential day care providers. Talk to them, view
their web sites, ask questions, get references so you can take a view and get a feel for which one will
be most suitable for you and your dog.
You want to be comfortable that he is in the best hands when he cannot be in yours. You do not want
to send a nervous dog to somewhere which might make his anxiety issues worse so do take your time
to choose the best provider you can. A visit to the provider s premises is also advised so you can chat
to the owner, see if everything is clean and tidy, see how other dogs are behaving and if they are
happy.
It will of course cost to use a doggy day care provider so make sure you have the budget for it. This
alone will not cure any dog separation anxiety issues however used in conjunction with other methods
which you should still work on with your dog, the combination of all can have a powerful cumulative
effect and help your dog to adjust.
Patience is the key when working with a dog with separation anxiety. Many dogs need you to be in
charge and make them feel at ease and safe. So by helping to take stresses away from them you are
helping them to cope. Find what works best for your dog and go with

IRAQ DURING SADDAM S REIGN (1989)
SOCIALLY, following the war with Iran in 1988, Iraq was ranked 50 in the 1990 UNDP Human
Development Index, which measures national success in education, GDP, and health. Iraq was nearing
the top of the middle range of countries in regard to the implementation of basic social services and
infrastructure. However, under Saddam s rule, the prosecution of Shiites and Kuwaitis was a normal
occurrence. Called by some a genocide, the period of murder, terror, and persecution faced by these
groups was the foundation for a long lasting unrest within the hearts and minds of Iraqi citizens. The
rest of the Iraqi citizens, however, lived normal, comfortable lives. In the late 20th century, many
traveled from afar to utilize and learn from Iraq s intricate network of hospitals and social centers
regarded as the best in the region. (CIA 2) However, constant war drained Iraq s wealth and decimated
its people. In the Iraq Iran War, Saddam Hussein unwillingly forced Iraq into a disastrous attempt to
overthrow the Islamist government in Iran. When the dust settled, over 200,000 Iraqis were dead, and
more than twice this number were wounded. Iraq s increasing debt, nearing about 75 Billion, soon had

Texas Biomes
Our ecosystem is described depending on the location we are located in. There is different plants,
animals, and environments in different environmental regions. For this paper we are focusing on the
six different biomes structures we have in the state of Texas. The first biome I am going to discuss is
the Central Prairies and Woodlands biome. This biome is located in the middle of biome 2 and 3
covering all of the coastal area from the Gulf of Mexico. The precipitation gradient in this area is the
highest in the state of Texas. Averaging from 75 115 cm/yr. this concludes that it s a high precipitation
area which means that the land in that area is green and hydrated. Since this biome extends from the

Literature Review On Atherosclerosis
Literature Review Draft
Atherosclerosis is characterised by gradual decrease in the luminal diameter of large arteries, it has
major health implications and contributes to around 50% of all deaths within westernized countries
(7). Patients can undergo coronary artery stenting to prolong the effects of this. Treatments for this
have undergone major developments over the past 40 years, including balloon angioplasty in 1977,
development of bare metal stents (BMS) in the 1980 s, introduction of drug eluting stents (DES) in
2000 (43) and current research into incorporating NO donors into stents. The first stent implantation
performed on a human was conducted in 1986 (13), since then they have become one of the most
common ways of intervention due to atherosclerosis. In the US there are 500,000 people who undergo
stenting annually (42). The success of stenting is inhibited by the reoccurrence of restenosis. Multiple
things can affect the rate of in stent restenosis, elevated LDL levels, increased levels of plasminogen
activator inhibitor I, type 2 diabetes and enhanced platelet aggergability (10). Therefore the severity of
restenosis will differ between patients.
Nobuyoshi et al, (1) and Serruys et al (2) found that restenosis is not an instantaneous development
after stent implantation, it develops between the 1st and 3rd month after implantation, although the
greatest change in luminal diameter occurred between the 2nd and 3rd month. These studies suggest
that restenosis is

How Is Hagar Shipley An Unlikeable Character
Pride of Living
It is difficult for the reader to take an objective view of the characters in this novel, particularly Hagar
Shipley, because of the first person nature of the story. Furthermore, it is also impossible not to dislike
Hagar at times because of her detachment from the things that could bring her happiness. Hagar
suffers from dysthymia, she is a victim of relational and social distance. Her past was not in her favor
when contributing to her emotionally distant future.
Hagar is portrayed as an unlikeable character being blinded by pride, and just overly bitter. While she
may not be the hero or the villain (due to this type of story not having a demand of good vs evil) it
does make the story more believable. In real life, there is no black and white when I come to
personalities. Her personality may well be reflected as unpleasant at times but it does not necessarily
make her a bad person. She cannot be described as the antagonist nor protagonist. In many instances,
she displays actions of disapproval towards almost everyone in her life this is frustrating to readers at
times because what is leading her to her unhappiness can easily be solved by a slight change in
character. Hagar is in constant denial of her actions and the consequences that come with it.
Hagar is blind to her own faults. Stubborn and resentful of everyone around her and won t let herself
be happy and yet Hagar is the kind of character you root for, she strives for independence which no

Cardiac Arrest Analysis
Approximately three hundred thousand cardiac arrests occur annually in the United States, making it
one of the leading causes of death nationally (1). Pulseless electrical activity (PEA) is one of the most
common forms of cardiac arrest and is generally associated with poor patient outcomes. It has been
widely theorized that a focused cardiac ultrasound exam (FoCUS) can play both a diagnostic and a

paper explores the theory and current evidence supporting the utilization of a FoCUS exam during
cardiac arrest presenting with PEA in order to recognize its potential role in resuscitative guidelines.

of his life. His career quickly took off. From 1951 to 1966, Rich played with many groups and people.
Such groups and people were Harry James, Les Brown, Charlie Ventura s Big Four and Norman

Towards the end of his life, Rich s attitude and arrogance were showing their true colors. Mel Torme

Custer and The Battle of Little Bighorn Essay
Introduction The Battle of the Little Bighorn, also known as Custer s Last Stand and, by the Indians
involved, as the Battle of the Greasy Grass, was an armed engagement between combined forces of
Lakota, Northern Cheyenne and Arapaho people against the 7th Cavalry Regiment of the United
States Army. The battle, which occurred on June 25 and 26, 1876 near the Little Bighorn River in
eastern Montana Territory, was the most famous action of the Great Sioux War of 1876. i Was this
battle led by a courageous General or a desperate man is search of being seen as an American hero by

He grew his hair long, and wore a large feather in his hat. His dress coat was of black velvet with gold
stitched embroidering. He claimed that he adopted this outfit so that his men would recognize him on
any part of the field .iv
Following the civil war the Army was downsizing. Custer was a captain in the regular army. In July
1866 he was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel made second in command of the 7th Calvary at Fort
Riley Kansas. As the settlers, along with the railroad, were pushing west, there were conflicts with
Indians. Custer s mission was to tract down these roving Indian, war parties. This was a new type of
war for Custer. It was guerrilla warfare. Custer tried to track down the Indians as if they were the
confederates. He would camp on hill tops so he could see all around him. At night, his men would
build big fires. The Indians would see this and flee. This lack of success drastically brought the morale
down in Custer and his men. Before long, a group of 15 men deserted, Custer ordered them to be
tracked down and shot. He then went on a forced march with his men just so he could spend a day
with his wife regardless of the repercussions to his career. Major General Hancock gave a court
martial to Custer for the execution of his men without trial. Custer was suspended in pay for one
year.v

Running Record
The Running Record of Oral reading is series of assessments administered over a number of
weeks/months that help determine the reading level of a student. The Running Record begins with the
test administrator, typically a teacher, finding text that they believe the student can read with 90 to 94
percent accuracy(Instructional Reader). If a student scores 95% or above(Independent Reader), or
below 89%(Frustrated Reader) then the text has to increase or decrease in difficulty so that the reader
is in the instructional range. The running record is scored by the administrator while the student reads
the selected text. It is scored when the number of correctly read words is divided by the total number
of words in the text. A separate score

Types Of Missing Teeth And Fabrication Of Partial Or...
Types of articulators OCLS 223 Prepared by: Meghetie Ketchedjian 201500949 Fall 2015 2016
Articulators Restoration of missing teeth, and fabrication of partial or complete dentures is the main
objective of prosthodontics. However, in order to accomplish the task, the occlusion of the patient is
necessary to be able to fabricate a successful prosthesis that suits him/her best. Since keeping him/her
attached to the dental chair is not possible every time a record is needed, a device that could represent
the patient was crucial. That s how in the 19th century the concept of the articulator was given birth,
and the first articulator was fabricated. Definition: An articulator is a mechanical device that mimics
and represents the TMJ and jaw members where maxillary and mandibular casts will be attached to
reproduce mandibular position and motions. An articulator can simulate mandibular movements, but it
cannot duplicate all the possible movements. It can only be adjusted to simulate border movements,
within which our chewing occurs. Purpose behind the use of an articulator: The main function of an
articulator is to act as the patient in the absence of the patient . It will simulate the patient s
TMJ,masticatory muscles, mandibular ligaments, mandible and maxilla, and the complex
neuromuscular mechanism of mandibular movements. It will hold maxillary and mandibular casts in a
predetermined fixed relationship.

Pros and Cons of Legalising Marijuana
Cannabis is becoming increasingly widespread and increasingly common in modern day society for
both recreational use and for medication. The article by Craig Reinarman, Criminalisation, legalisation
and the mixed blessing of medicalisation in the USA generates many controversial issues of cannabis.
The two sided debate between embracing medical use of the drug through the therapeutic benefits and
the link between cannabis and psychosis is explored. This issues also stems the question of the
legitimacy of legalisation and criminalisation of cannabis and how key concepts are raised including
moral entrepreneur and social locus . In today s society as cannabis is becoming increasingly
normalised , the theory that cannabis is a gateway drug also arises.
Despite the current marijuana laws, medical research has shown a variety of therapeutic benefits that
arise from the use of cannabis. (Gowling et al. 1998, p. 446)) Revealed that Over the years, cannabis
has been claimed to increase appetite, relax the muscle, improve mood, relieve anxiety and combat
pain and nausea . As a result of these advantages, medical marijuana advocates support and has
pushed for the legalisation of cannabis. However, it is argued that harmful effects can arise,
demonstrating an association between cannabis with psychosis. Psychosis is a condition of the mind,
involving a loss of contact with reality . Hall (1998) stipulated that A high doses of

The Jonas Fletcher Story
The Jonas Fletcher Story
Jonas Fletcher was a man who could never sit still, and do what had others wanted of him. Born into a
wealthy family, all of his needs and desires were available. The decadent lifestyle of his family was
something he loathed and despised. They had their money from one of the largest companies in the
defense industry. Jonas inherited the business when his grandfather died, much to the fury of his
family. He sold the assets of the company and kept some things for himself. His family refused to
abide by as he ruined their livelihood. Once the subsequent lawsuits were over, all he had left was a
few bucks, some weapons, and a submarine. One day, he gathered his former employees.
I must apologize for what has happened. We will go out and attack the corrupt, he told them.
Jonas stood in the control room of his submarine. He exited and started towards the conference room.
Upon arrival, he turned the lights turn on, and six men wearing matching suits entered the room after
him. A minute passed, and David Webb the second in command and his closest confidant walked in.
Gentlemen, we have done the impossible. We have reached our goal of one hundred million dollars.
Now we need to find a non extradition treaty country with the best tax laws to spend our lives in
luxury. The men stood up, saluted Jonas, and left the room. Webb stood up, went over to the front of
the room, and took a seat next to Jonas.

Shape memory alloys (SMA) have attracted much attention in recent years, since they are smart (or
intelligent) materials, as well as functional materials, which already exist. These alloys possess the
characteristics of the shape memory effect (SME) and super elasticity (SE) which are caused by the
martensitic (or displacive) transformation (MT) and its reverse transformation to the parent austenite
phase; we define the characteristic transformation temperatures as follows; Ms: martensite start
temperature upon cooling; Mf: martensite finish

A Review Of Marielle Tenorio s Presentation Summary
For this week, I chose to do my discussion on the presentation presented by Marielle Tenorio. The title
of her presentation was Comparing Contrasting Pulmonary Stress Test and Six Minute Walk . The
main objective of her research was to identify pulmonary stress test and six minute walk test, its
contraindications and indications, and explore which one of the two tests is most cost effective. The
presentation was indeed easy to follow and very informative. I am glad that she covered this topic as it
was a good review for all of us. It was interesting to learn that six minute walk test is done to evaluate
how well the body responds to exertion and determine overall functional capacity or changes in
capacity due to therapy in patients with

The Current Mental Health Policies Essay
Policies have an important role in regulating and shaping the values in a society. The issues related to
mental health are not only considered as personal but also affecting the relationships with significant
others. The stigma and discrimination faced by people with mental health can be traced to the lack of
legislation and protection of rights (Rodriguez del Barrio et al., 2014). The policy makers in mental
health have a challenging task to protect the rights of individuals as well as the public (Swigger
Heinmiller, 2014). Therefore, it is essential to analyse the current mental health policies. In Canada,
provinces adopt their own Mental Health Acts (MHA) to implement mental health services. As of
January 15, 2016, there are 13 mental health acts in Canada (Gray, Hastings, Love, O Reilly, 2016).
The key elements, despite the differences in laws, are (1) involuntary admission criteria, (2) the right
to refuse treatment, and (3) who has the authority to authorize treatment (Browne, 2010). The current
act in Ontario is Mental Health Act, 1990. The Ontario Mental Health Act has adopted a broad
definition of mental health. The term broad has been defined as any disease or disability in mind
(Mental Health Act, 1990 as cited in Gray et al., 2016). Apart from Ontario, only Quebec has adopted
such a definition to mental health. Other jurisdictions have been more specific in defining mental
health (Gray et al., 2016). The authors pointed out that the mental health act in

Relationship Between Henson And Peary
Matthew Henson and Robert Peary had a strong relationship. They both had a need for exploration,
fame, and danger, and Henson s need is one of the reasons he started traveling with Peary. The two
men met when Henson was working at a clothing and hat store, when Peary walked in and offered him
a job. This job was to be his personal servant while he was on an expedition in Nicaragua. Peary was
going to head an engineering team to see about the possibility of digging a canal across Nicaragua.
Henson later wrote that he saw qualities in Peary that made him want to participate in his services.
After that expedition, Peary approached Henson with an idea. He wanted to raise money to go to the
arctic and wanted Henson to go with him. On their

The Paradox Of Change In Ray Bradbury s Dandelion Wine
The Paradox of Change
Change is a force which is ever present in the universe, and an individual is never free from its effects;
change will continuously mold the individual by challenging its perception of its surroundings and
itself. In many ways, change causes development and maturity, yet it also causes decline and decay.
Change is constant. However, the paradox of change is often difficult to accept, and people will fight
with its reality throughout their lifetimes: friends will come and go, epiphanies and advances will
arrive, and things will never quite be like they used to be. The struggle between change and the
individual is a recurring part of Ray Bradbury s Dandelion Wine. This relationship shows not only
through the main character, Doug Spaulding, but also through those around him. Doug and the rest of
Green Town show how people contend with changes in that which they know, those whom they know,
and even themselves.
Many of Doug s favorite parts of Green Town become altered in some way during the summer of
1928. No more trolley. Bus starts to run tomorrow. Going to retire me with a pension, they are
(Bradbury 98). After Mr. Tridden tells them that the trolley is shutting down, Doug protests by
pointing out that a bus doesn t have the charm of the trolley. Later on, a woman thwarts an attempted
murder by the town s serial killer, The Lonely One . As Doug, Tom, and Charlie reflect upon seeing
the paramedics take Lonely One in on a stretcher, they lament the fact that there will be no more
killings to create excitement around town. Charlie rants to Tom, This town used to have some good
stuff in it up until about twelve o clock last night. From here on, we re vanilla junket (Bradbury 178).
They even try to convince themselves that the man on the stretcher wasn t the Lonely One. Regardless
of how unpleasant or cumbersome certain aspects of the town were, the kids still disliked their
altercation, and they struggled with everything beginning and ending around them.
The people of Green Town repeatedly grappled with very personal changes to those whom they were
familiar with. This contention is very prevalent within Doug when he hears that his friend, John Huff,
is moving away. To delay the

The Effects Of Tax Reform
When gauging the effects of various corporate tax rates, we used two evaluative factors to measure
effectiveness of our proposed policy alternatives. The most important evaluation mechanism for
gauging the effectiveness of tax reform is the change in revenue attributed to the change in policy.
Changes in state gross domestic product are also important to consider when proposing changes to
corporate taxes, because a correlation can be made between tax rates and corporate economic output.
Because Iowa has not reformed its corporate tax rate since 1981, we opted to analyze the effects of
these criteria on other states that have changes their corporate tax rates since 2000. We decided against
analyzing the effects of changes in other Iowa ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Meanwhile, Kansas lowered its top tax on corporate income by a mere 0.3% in 2008, bringing the rate
to 7.05%. This change decreased the states revenue collections from corporate taxes by more than
$150 million (2007, 2009, 2010, 2012)1. The results in Kansas represent that when the corporate rate
decreases, revenue collections decrease as well.
The results described above are not by any means consistent. Some states have increased their tax
rates, only to see large declines in corporate tax revenue. By analyzing similar changes in tax rates and
revenue collections in other states, a pattern of correlation begins to emerge, which can be seen in
Figure 4 below.
As Figure 4 illustrates, the correlation between tax rates and revenue generations are assumed to be a
direct correlation; that is, as the tax rate increases, revenue collections increase, and vice versa.
However, this pattern is only true for tax rates that lie on both the high and low ends of the tax scale.
By finding the mean of the highest tax rate of states with recent reforms (Illinois @ 9.5% and
Connecticut @ 9.00%), we calculated ½ of a standard deviation and assume this to be the relevant
range of tax rates where there is no significant correlation with revenue collections. In this range,
increasing or decreasing the corporate tax rate will not automatically lead to similar results in revenue
collections.
Keeping in mind this distribution of tax rates and revenue collections, we

The Bombing Of The World Trade Center s Twin Towers And...
I. INTRODUCTION
A. Attention Gainer: 14 years ago on September 11th 2001, America faced the worst attack in its
history: the demolition of the World Trade Center s Twin Towers, and of building 7. It ended the lives
of over 3,000 innocent men and women, 400 [of them were] police officers and firefighters, and it
permanently effected the lives of their families and friends. Imagine going to work one day, and
unexpectedly a plane crashes into your place of work, and your life is on the line. What would you do?
Call your loved ones? Try to escape? Take a quick look at this video clip and think about that.
B. Reason to Listen: Now try to put yourself in the shoes of these people, or even in the shoes of their
family members. Imagine the horror, and later on the anger. Their loved ones, and these people s lives
were forever changed and no justice has been served even 14 years after the event. The attack on these
towers as reported and analyzed by FEMA and the NIST, both architecture experts, leaves much room
for doubt in the aftermath, opening the door for many questions. These questions need answers, and
they need justice.
C. Speaker Credibility (right to inform): Over the course of Spring Break, while you all enjoyed your
well needed rest, I worked tirelessly to uncover the facts and the truth about the demolition of the
World Trade Center s towers. I scrolled through countless websites and articles to discern the most
credible sources for my project, and what I have for you

  • 2. Case Study On Strategic Segmentation Thus, this research seeks to better understand the processes used by organisations in the development of a successful strategic segmentation, as well as its impact and influence on consumer s preferences and behaviour. The methodology initially developed was both quantitative and qualitative, by the means of Triangulation. As developed by Hammersley (1996) and later on stated by Lee and Lings (2008), Triangulation allows the researcher to mix both quantitative and qualitative methods, in order to achieve a more exact and consistent result. Based on this method, the research strategy developed was to collect information on British companies, so to understand which communication and marketing strategies were being developed when targeting audiences. Furthermore, this information would be used during the process of collecting qualitative data over consumers of these brands. In the latter, the objective was to understand their perspective and attitude towards the product and brand. Finally, this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This will allow us to understand the level of success of their marketing strategies, as well as to analyse if there is a discrepancy of perspectives on people from the same consumer segment. More in depth, this case study has become an alternative to the original methodology chosen for this research, which was to be based upon UK telecommunication companies and the comparison between their marketing strategies and its impact on consumers. Finally, this will give us a better understanding on the following empirical examination: organisational understanding over consumers and how they select the most appropriate variables for segmentation; how consumers respond to it and their heterogeneity; how vast is the use of new segmentation solutions, multi generational marketing in ... • 3. History of Austrlia Imagine... What it would be like to be to start again? What it would be like to spend weeks and weeks in a ship with thousands of others? What is would be like to watch others around you die from the terrible conditions and diseases that they have been exposed to? When asked questions about things we have never experienced before it is hard to give a proper answer, all you can do is assume and imagine but you can never give an exact precise response. So when asked if Australia was a Fatal shore for everyone or if it was a land of opportunity, all you can do is assume and imagine based on the available information provided because you don t really know the answer because you have not experienced it firsthand. From the information provided, Australia was more of a Fatal Shore than it was a land of opportunity. For both convicts and free settlers life in Australia was extremely harsh. The lifestyle of Australia was extremely different to the environment that they were used to back home in England and it would have been hard for them to adapt to. However life in Australia wasn t all that bad, for most of the convicts it was a second chance at life and for the free settlers it was a great opportunity to make their fortune. The working conditions that the convicts in early colonial Australia had to endure were incredibly severe. The working environment that the convicts suffered is evidence of the brutality that existed. Many off the convicts that arrived in Sydney had ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Rock And Roll In The 1950s 1950 s Introduction The 1950s was largely dominated by Rock and Roll as the Rock and Roll era had emerged. This Genre of music developed from other styles of music such as country, Jazz, and gospel. One Reason for the sudden emergence of Rock and Roll was because of the likes of Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry, Fats Domino and other Rock and Roll icons that have transformed music, as we know it. Pioneer of Rock and Roll During the early 50s, many artists were coming out with there own Rock and Roll songs making it difficult for us to identify who was the pioneer of Rock and Roll. Today most people think of Elvis Presley when they hear Rock and Roll however the very first Rock and Roll hit was called Rock around the Clock by Bill Haley and his Comets. This song released in 1955 was considered to be the first international hit that spread to millions across the globe, but it wasn t the first Rock song written. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The difference between these two early Rock songs is that with more knowledge about the genre Rock around the Clock grabbed a larger audience. What made it an international hit is what makes most rock songs today a hit. A mix of different instruments such as the saxophone, drums and the guitar, and although the lyrics are repetitive, it s almost like they become hypnotic to the listener. Culture Although its true that Rock and Roll was developed from other styles of music but it was actually the mix of Black culture and white spreading that truly advanced it. As Black artists and bands like the Dominoes began to combine gospel music and add more aggressive rhymes to them creating rock and roll. After these song began reaching a wider audience being the White teens who enjoyed this type of thrilling music. After this type of music spread Rock and roll was now based around the image of Elvis ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Similarities Between Midaq Alley And The Yacoubian Building In the novels Midaq Alley and The Yacoubian Building, we are shown the ongoing, daily struggles of the working poor in both colonial and postcolonial Egypt. Both share central, overarching themes such as debauchery, desperation, and unstable political situations. The two settings are both examples of microcosms, cities within a city . Midaq Alley is a small, dead end neighborhood in 1940 s Cairo that consists of various shops and apartments. Within each of these buildings are characters that live completely separate lives but all have the same aspirations, to experience the world outside and the wealth it has. The Yacoubian Building is also set in Cairo during the turbulent 1990 s. Similarly, the characters were all tenants of a large apartment building, living in cramped and decrepit spaces. Promiscuity played a large role for multiple characters in both novels. Jealousy, infidelity, and homosexuality are all depicted openly and all have central parts in the separate stories. Midaq Alley introduced us to the character Hamida, an impoverished young woman who is desperate to find a partner who is financially stable. As she explored a relationship with Abbas, another prominent figure was also trying to flatter her. Knowing that she sought someone with money, Salim Alwan, an older, wealthy businessman with voracious sexual desires had an intense lust for Hamida. A character who was in a similar situation to Hamida is Busayna from The Yacoubian Building. While she was trying ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Common Law and National Consumer Law Chapter 1 1. Why did common law become so rigid and inflexible? Answer: By the reign of henry II, the practice of sending the royal justice throughout the country on circuit began to result in fairly uniform body of law developing around the country the common law. The judges were assisted in finding an agreement among them by keeping records known as plea rolls. They set out not only the facts of each case and judgement, but often the reasoning behind the judgement, in much the same way as the modern law reports does. During the reign of henry II writs came into wide use. They were purchased from the king s clerks of chancery and stated the complaint, ordering the name person either to right the wrong or to show the king s justices ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Explain Answer: law is basically a device to regulate the economic and social behaviour of society. Generally laws are created by people to maintain harmony in the society and the country. As people have to follow the certain rules of the country or society, there is a sense of responsibility people feel. If people lived in complete isolation and didn t carry on any economic activity or recognise any superior authority, there would be no need for laws to exist because there would be nothing to regulate or control. However, the reality is otherwise. People don t live in complete isolation and economic activity is carried on. The law, as regulatory device, provides the mechanism for society to function by prioritising needs and desires through tools such as legislation. All these laws are made by the superiors at the higher stages. Even the people establishing these laws have to follow the same laws so it has to be made regarding the needs of the people. The people creating laws have the power to organise all these laws and should be pass the law according to the demand of time and the need of the people. All the other tests cannot be ignored as law because they at some stages describe law. But somehow other statements are less effective. Like, law is not only a command by a political superiors because all kinds of law are not commanded by political superiors or inferiors. It could be family law commanded by the eldest ... • 7. Changes Since The Sixties Essay There were no time guzzling metal detectors at the airports... or the schools. There were no grouchy warning labels on the records and no ratings necessary on the movies. And TV shows were acceptable to the whole family. Those were the sixties or at least part of it. Some of the 52 million sixties boomers called it the decade of peace, harmony and love mainly for the movement for peace and the flower power attitude. Others, a little more pessimistic, called it the decade of dissatisfaction because of the protests against the war and the race riots in many cities. For the teenagers it was the decade of sweet sounding, good time rock n roll...from the Beatles to the Kinks and many more in between. Still for others it was filled with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Today the film industry is booming. The film industry also makes more than 200 movies a year so they can usually film within the country. However both today and in the sixties film was in color and both decades targeted younger audiences. Movie ticket prices have also increased. An average movie ticket in the sixties cost about thirty eight cents, whereas today tickets cost between five and eight dollars. Literature techniques and topics chosen by authors reflected the social changes and interests of the sixties. Some writers focused on traditional issues, others reflected the cultural conflicts made by the Civil Rights movement, the coming of age of the post war baby boomers and the war in Vietnam. Popular book genres of the sixties were romance, science fiction, and fantasy. Slaughterhouse Five and Stranger in A Strange Land are just two examples. Today people enjoy reading fantasy and non fiction novels as well. Although they also buy dating books such as He s Just Not That into You and dieting books like The Zone Diet. The sixties was a good decade for non fiction in general. Both Growing Up Absurd and Feminine Mystique did well with readers. Non fiction and fiction today don t really compete since they have separate bestsellers list. However both are doing well with the Da Vinci Code and My Life So Far on a Bestsellers List. • 8. The Fundamental Concepts Of Statistics Question 5 This paper will provide a sample of the fundamental concepts in statistics. During research there is usually variance between individuals within a group or between different groups. During hypothesis testing the researcher wants to know if the sample of data collected is truly representative of the entire population. Null hypothesis testing is concerned with the correlation or differences in means (continuous data) between groups. The null hypothesis works on the premise that there is no difference between two groups such as males and females who respond to a set of items (independent sample T test). The null hypothesis can also be described as the hypothesized mean being equal to the population mean. So the null hypothesis is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Whereas, if I fail to reject the null, because I believe the groups are the same when, in fact, they are different this is a type 2 error. In its simplest terms, Type I error is the incorrect rejection of the null hypothesis, whereas Type II is the incorrect acceptance of the null hypothesis. Related to hypothesis testing is the Significance level or cut off point (alpha). The P or the probability value is one of the indicators that can be used to test the null hypothesis. Usually a significance level = .05 (95% confidence interval) or lower is the accepted rule for rejecting the null hypothesis. This means that we will accept up to 5% of type 1 error. Also, P 0.01 sometimes is referred to as statistically highly significant. If the p value is .05, then we would reject the null hypothesis. Visually, on a bell curve (two tailed test) this can be presented as the critical region or how far our sample statistic is from the null hypothesis. In relation to P values there is the confidence interval (or bound). A 0.05 level of significance would be centered on a 95% confidence interval. If our given value sits outside the bound we would reject the null. However, if our value sits within the interval we would not reject the null hypothesis. Another concern during research is the issue of sampling error due to only a portion of the population being used during a study. Even when bias is reduced by random sampling the ... So, only two of us wanted to wait, because this was the Banshee. While waiting in line, it was very hot and I started to get one of my migraines. Just then we were next in line, so we took our seats. • 10. Confederate Flag Research Paper We all have heard the romantic story of our flag. How Betsy Ross sat in her living room all night, sewing together the stars and stripes. Today, Betsy s masterpiece still flies high all around our country, but, in many of the southern states, there is a second flag that flies with it. The Confederate flag. The birth story of this war flag is not romantic in any shape or form. During the Civil War, there was much confusion on the battlefield between the original Confederate flag, Stars and Bars , and our Stars and Stripes . So the leaders of the Confederates had their Committee on the Flag and Seal create a totally different flag to use for the battlefield, and they would use their original flag for parades. Hence, the birth of the Confederate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The United Daughters of the Confederacy memorial was put up in 1934 and dedicated to the Loyal Women of the Old South . The Augusta Confederate Monument in Augusta, Georgia was dedicated 1878 in to represent Private Benson, General Robert E. Lee, General Stonewall Jackson, General T.R.R. Cobb and General W.H.T. And the most common memorial, the Confederate Flag itself. There are eight statues dedicated to Confederate war heroes in Washington D.C. at the National Statuary Hall Collection. There is a statue for Jefferson Davis, a statue for Alexander Stephens, a statue for Joseph Wheeler, a statue for Colonel Zebulon Baird Vance, a statue for General Robert E. Lee, for James Z. These people thought of other races to be worth less than dirt; they couldn t have cared less about these people. In fact, they didn t even see other races as human beings. • 11. Speech On Painkillers It s only natural to head straight for your medicine cabinet when you feel a headache coming on, but did you know that you re actually putting yourself in danger by relying on painkillers every time you have a migraine or eye fatigue? Overconsumption of painkillers can and almost always does lead to the body developing a tolerance to them, which makes your regular dosage ineffective, meaning you have to increase the number of painkillers you take to get rid of your headache. This, in turn, can cause you to develop an addiction to painkillers, something that about 10% of Americans are believed to suffer from. Iraq was nearing the top of the middle range of countries in regard to the implementation of basic social services and infrastructure. • 16. Literature Review On Atherosclerosis Literature Review Draft Atherosclerosis is characterised by gradual decrease in the luminal diameter of large arteries, it has major health implications and contributes to around 50% of all deaths within westernized countries (7). Patients can undergo coronary artery stenting to prolong the effects of this. Treatments for this have undergone major developments over the past 40 years, including balloon angioplasty in 1977, development of bare metal stents (BMS) in the 1980 s, introduction of drug eluting stents (DES) in 2000 (43) and current research into incorporating NO donors into stents. The first stent implantation performed on a human was conducted in 1986 (13), since then they have become one of the most common ways of intervention due to atherosclerosis. In the US there are 500,000 people who undergo stenting annually (42). The success of stenting is inhibited by the reoccurrence of restenosis. Multiple things can affect the rate of in stent restenosis, elevated LDL levels, increased levels of plasminogen activator inhibitor I, type 2 diabetes and enhanced platelet aggergability (10). Therefore the severity of restenosis will differ between patients. Nobuyoshi et al, (1) and Serruys et al (2) found that restenosis is not an instantaneous development after stent implantation, it develops between the 1st and 3rd month after implantation, although the greatest change in luminal diameter occurred between the 2nd and 3rd month. • 17. How Is Hagar Shipley An Unlikeable Character Pride of Living It is difficult for the reader to take an objective view of the characters in this novel, particularly Hagar Shipley, because of the first person nature of the story. Furthermore, it is also impossible not to dislike Hagar at times because of her detachment from the things that could bring her happiness. Hagar suffers from dysthymia, she is a victim of relational and social distance. Her past was not in her favor when contributing to her emotionally distant future. Hagar is portrayed as an unlikeable character being blinded by pride, and just overly bitter. While she may not be the hero or the villain (due to this type of story not having a demand of good vs evil) it does make the story more believable. In real life, there is no black and white when I come to personalities. Her personality may well be reflected as unpleasant at times but it does not necessarily make her a bad person. She cannot be described as the antagonist nor protagonist. In many instances, she displays actions of disapproval towards almost everyone in her life this is frustrating to readers at times because what is leading her to her unhappiness can easily be solved by a slight change in character. Hagar is in constant denial of her actions and the consequences that come with it. Hagar is blind to her own faults. Stubborn and resentful of everyone around her and won t let herself be happy and yet Hagar is the kind of character you root for, she strives for independence which no ... Types of articulators OCLS 223 Prepared by: Meghetie Ketchedjian 201500949 Fall 2015 2016 Articulators Restoration of missing teeth, and fabrication of partial or complete dentures is the main objective of prosthodontics. However, in order to accomplish the task, the occlusion of the patient is necessary to be able to fabricate a successful prosthesis that suits him/her best. Since keeping him/her attached to the dental chair is not possible every time a record is needed, a device that could represent the patient was crucial. That s how in the 19th century the concept of the articulator was given birth, and the first articulator was fabricated. Definition: An articulator is a mechanical device that mimics and represents the TMJ and jaw members where maxillary and mandibular casts will be attached to reproduce mandibular position and motions. An articulator can simulate mandibular movements, but it cannot duplicate all the possible movements. It can only be adjusted to simulate border movements, within which our chewing occurs. Purpose behind the use of an articulator: The main function of an articulator is to act as the patient in the absence of the patient . It will simulate the patient s TMJ,masticatory muscles, mandibular ligaments, mandible and maxilla, and the complex neuromuscular mechanism of mandibular movements. It will hold maxillary and mandibular casts in a predetermined fixed relationship. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 31. The Current Mental Health Policies Essay Policies have an important role in regulating and shaping the values in a society. The issues related to mental health are not only considered as personal but also affecting the relationships with significant others. The stigma and discrimination faced by people with mental health can be traced to the lack of legislation and protection of rights (Rodriguez del Barrio et al., 2014). The policy makers in mental health have a challenging task to protect the rights of individuals as well as the public (Swigger Heinmiller, 2014). Therefore, it is essential to analyse the current mental health policies. In Canada, provinces adopt their own Mental Health Acts (MHA) to implement mental health services. As of January 15, 2016, there are 13 mental health acts in Canada (Gray, Hastings, Love, O Reilly, 2016). The key elements, despite the differences in laws, are (1) involuntary admission criteria, (2) the right to refuse treatment, and (3) who has the authority to authorize treatment (Browne, 2010). The current act in Ontario is Mental Health Act, 1990. The Ontario Mental Health Act has adopted a broad definition of mental health. The term broad has been defined as any disease or disability in mind (Mental Health Act, 1990 as cited in Gray et al., 2016). Apart from Ontario, only Quebec has adopted such a definition to mental health. Other jurisdictions have been more specific in defining mental health (Gray et al., 2016). • 33. The Paradox Of Change In Ray Bradbury s Dandelion Wine The Paradox of Change Change is a force which is ever present in the universe, and an individual is never free from its effects; change will continuously mold the individual by challenging its perception of its surroundings and itself. In many ways, change causes development and maturity, yet it also causes decline and decay. Change is constant. However, the paradox of change is often difficult to accept, and people will fight with its reality throughout their lifetimes: friends will come and go, epiphanies and advances will arrive, and things will never quite be like they used to be. The struggle between change and the individual is a recurring part of Ray Bradbury s Dandelion Wine. This relationship shows not only through the main character, Doug Spaulding, but also through those around him. Doug and the rest of Green Town show how people contend with changes in that which they know, those whom they know, and even themselves. Many of Doug s favorite parts of Green Town become altered in some way during the summer of 1928. No more trolley. Bus starts to run tomorrow. Going to retire me with a pension, they are (Bradbury 98). After Mr. Tridden tells them that the trolley is shutting down, Doug protests by pointing out that a bus doesn t have the charm of the trolley. Later on, a woman thwarts an attempted murder by the town s serial killer, The Lonely One . As Doug, Tom, and Charlie reflect upon seeing the paramedics take Lonely One in on a stretcher, they lament the fact that there will be no more killings to create excitement around town. Charlie rants to Tom, This town used to have some good stuff in it up until about twelve o clock last night. From here on, we re vanilla junket (Bradbury 178). They even try to convince themselves that the man on the stretcher wasn t the Lonely One. Regardless of how unpleasant or cumbersome certain aspects of the town were, the kids still disliked their altercation, and they struggled with everything beginning and ending around them. The most important evaluation mechanism for gauging the effectiveness of tax reform is the change in revenue attributed to the change in policy. Meanwhile, Kansas lowered its top tax on corporate income by a mere 0.3% in 2008, bringing the rate to 7.05%. This change decreased the states revenue collections from corporate taxes by more than $150 million (2007, 2009, 2010, 2012)1. The results in Kansas represent that when the corporate rate decreases, revenue collections decrease as well. The results described above are not by any means consistent. Some states have increased their tax rates, only to see large declines in corporate tax revenue. By analyzing similar changes in tax rates and revenue collections in other states, a pattern of correlation begins to emerge, which can be seen in Figure 4 below. As Figure 4 illustrates, the correlation between tax rates and revenue generations are assumed to be a direct correlation; that is, as the tax rate increases, revenue collections increase, and vice versa. However, this pattern is only true for tax rates that lie on both the high and low ends of the tax scale. By finding the mean of the highest tax rate of states with recent reforms (Illinois @ 9.5% and Connecticut @ 9.00%), we calculated ½ of a standard deviation and assume this to be the relevant range of tax rates where there is no significant correlation with revenue collections. Attention Gainer: 14 years ago on September 11th 2001, America faced the worst attack in its history: the demolition of the World Trade Center s Twin Towers, and of building 7. It ended the lives of over 3,000 innocent men and women, 400 [of them were] police officers and firefighters, and it permanently effected the lives of their families and friends. Imagine going to work one day, and unexpectedly a plane crashes into your place of work, and your life is on the line. What would you do? Call your loved ones? Try to escape? Take a quick look at this video clip and think about that. B. Reason to Listen: Now try to put yourself in the shoes of these people, or even in the shoes of their family members. Imagine the horror, and later on the anger. Their loved ones, and these people s lives were forever changed and no justice has been served even 14 years after the event. The attack on these towers as reported and analyzed by FEMA and the NIST, both architecture experts, leaves much room for doubt in the aftermath, opening the door for many questions. These questions need answers, and they need justice. C. Speaker Credibility (right to inform): Over the course of Spring Break, while you all enjoyed your well needed rest, I worked tirelessly to uncover the facts and the truth about the demolition of the World Trade Center s towers. I scrolled through countless websites and articles to discern the most credible sources for my project, and what I have for you ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
