Wildfire Assessment
Wildfire Assessment For as long as mankind can conceive, fire has been a remarkable tool to conquer.
When controlled, it provides necessary heat, energy, and fuel for a consumer to use; however, when
fire goes unattended, it has the potential to become a wholly destructive element. The more western
states of America, such as Utah and Colorado, have repeatedly experienced this concept in its most
devastating form: wildfires. A wildfire is generally considered to be difficult to control and fast
moving, swallowing anything that lay in its path, including forest or human habitat. As human
incursion reaches more remote areas in wooded mountains, wildfires pose a serious threat to high end
homes and secluded cabins. The untamed nature of these fires also allows them to creep into
subdivisions and endanger more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For centuries, society has been battling these natural disasters with considerable effort, only to come
up with charred land and numerous homeless citizens. The one most significant gain, however, that
comes with these fires is the vigorous regrowth that occurs years after the devastation. With a freshly
cleared area, decaying sediment acting as fertilizer, and a significantly lower chance for fires, new life
is easily reintroduced from the waste. The question then becomes whether it is ethical for human
intervention with what is completely natural and healthy for the surrounding environment. The idea of
allowing uncontrolled burns comes with great potential for animal and plant habitats, however it
leaves many citizens in the wake of danger. Finding the balance between these two ideas, excessive
interference and absolute surrender of control, is an important endeavor to way

Mealsault And Meursault In Albert Camus s The Stranger
The characters observed in Albert Camus s book, The Stranger, are human; they aren t anything more
or anything less. Every human is cruel and unusual in one way or the other. People are inhumane to
each other and make irrational decisions, but they are still considered human. Characters like
Raymond and the magistrate exhibit these traits. From the view of people, remaining completely
objective to any given subject is impossible. There always is bias and opinion in their thought process.
However, Meursault is not every person. His decisions are impulsive, based purely on facts and his
surroundings. People cannot understand Meursault because he can take everything at face value with
only himself as the center of relativity; no one else can do that. People like the priest try to understand
it but cannot, so they try changing Meursault instead. Others like Raymond take advantage of it. They
all are indifferent towards Meursault s understanding. Meursault is seen as the absurdity of the world
because he sees the discrepancies of other people s lives head on by being objective to their actions,
behaviors, and beliefs while remaining steadfast towards his own reality. Raymond was the most
morally unjust person that interacted with Meursault, which shows Meursault s objectivity towards
choices between good and evil. Throughout the novel Meursault associates with Raymond even in
wake of his peer s poor opinions of Raymond s character. Meursault listens and does whatever

Theoretically speaking an additional orange band, representing acetylferrocene, should have eluted
after the shift in mobile phases. Considering that the mobile phase changes from a non polar content to
that of higher polarity with the addition of ethyl acetate, it is logical that a polar species like
acetylferrocene would elute. After collecting and evaporating the solvent portion of the darkest yellow

Heterodox Hero Of Horror In Francis Lawrence s I Am Legend
Heterodox hero of horror
With protagonist and offbeat hero; Dr Robert Neville, Francis Lawrence breathes a fresh
nonconformity into the void of stereotypes that have too long permeated modern heroic cinema
Hayden Newell writes. n decades past, the notion of an African American,
I socially inept and mentally broken hero may very well have passed with a scornful chuckle from
Hollywood s gentry. Tasked with reinvigorating Richard Matheson s sci fi horror page turner; I am
Legend, Francis Lawrence puts this very notion into blockbuster filmic practice with 2007 s aptly
titled; I am Legend. Lawrence rewrites the doctrine of supremacy, violence and impenetrability that
has too long governed pop culture heroism, instead, defining his hero; protagonist and military
virologist Dr Robert Neville, with normal imperfections and a humanness so brilliantly atypical to the
banal muscly do gooder stereotype.
Neville, pertinently portrayed by A lister Will Smith, is left miraculously immune to a cancer cure
turned world ending virus, and takes upon himself the task of curing the remaining few, who have
been rendered zombies by the fateful virus. Indeed, Lawrence opts for nonconformity over traditional
definitions of the hero s journey , with Neville s quest commencing three years post apocalypse, and
the plot meandering along a sweeping narrative punctuated by turbulent flashbacks to its punchy
conclusion. Inevitably, archaic linear models stumble in their quest for relevance, as Lawrence favours
realism and modernity over obsolete archetypes. It is abundantly clear that Neville is no traditional pro
violence man of action, one may even argue that Neville is constructed as a tragic hero with the loss of
his family, or anti hero with his mental struggle, and certainly, the protagonist exhibits certain traits
that may allow these thoughts some weight. Though these time honoured archetypes fall short of
defining ultimately, the heterodoxy and rawness of Lawrence s hero, Neville is a tormented man; a
hero whose external battles dwindle in significance when compared with his mental struggle, and
whose uniqueness in itself challenges cinematic dogma.
Lawrence allows the viewer little time to settle in, launching directly into

The Solar Wind Is Dominated By Two Types Of Interplanetary...
2.1 Introduction
In the heliosphere, the large scale structure of the solar wind is dominated by two types of
interplanetary disturbances: transient and corotating disturbances. Corotating disturbances, associated
with spatial variability and solar rotation, occur in response to the interaction of fast and slow solar
winds. Transient disturbances, due to episodic solar eruptions, expand outward from the Sun into
interplanetary space (Gosling, 1996). The galactic cosmic ray (GCR) intensity is modulated by long
term effects such as ≈ 11 year solar activity cycle and ≈ 22 year solar magnetic cycle as well as by
short term effects such as passage of corotating flows (high speed streams) and transient disturbances
(e.g. interplanetary coronal mass ejections). Recurrent depressions in GCR intensity due to corotating
fields and flows and Forbush decreases due to transient disturbances have been studied in the past
(see, e.g. Lockwood, 1971; Rao, 1972; Iucci et al., 1989; Venkatesan and Badruddin, 1990; Cane,
2000; Kudela et al., 2000; Gupta and Badruddin, 2009; Oh and Yi, 2009; Kane, 2010; Wawrzynczak
and Alania, 2010; Abbrescia et al., 2011; Modzelewska and Alania, 2012; Sabbah and Kudela, 2011,
and references therein). Short term transient depression caused generally by ICMEs and particularly
by magnetic clouds have been studied extensively and many features of resulting depressions in GCR
intensity, including their recovery characteristics, have been clarified (see,

Growing Up In The House On Mango Street By Sandra Cisneros
In the novel, The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros, the theme of growing up is prevalent
throughout the book. Throughout the novel, a young mexican girl named Esperanza goes through
experiences as she matures that involve her friends, society, dangers that expose her to the outside
world and help her to realize what the real world is like.
The first time Esperanza makes an appearance in the book, she is younger and easily manipulated,
especially by her friends. Esperanza meets a girl named Cathy, a snobby girl that lived on Mango
Street. When Cathy tells Esperanza Okay, I ll be your friend. But only until next Tuesday. That s when
we move away. Then as if she forgot I had just moved in, she says the neighborhood is getting bad
(13) This was a racist statement towards Esperanza and her family, something she doesn t quite
understand yet because Esperanza thinks Cathy forgot they moved in, yet she was actually being
racist. This is the first time Esperanza is exposed to racism in the book, therefore exposing her to the
outside world. Later in the book, Esperanza meets Sally, a beautiful girl with shiny black hair, that all
she seemingly just wants is to love, and Esperanza wants to be just like her. I like your black coat and
the shoes you wear, where did you get them? I want to buy shoes just like yours. (82) Sally and
Esperanza become friends, but later in the story, in the chapter Red Clowns, Esperanza is put in a
dangerous situation where Sally walks off

The Importance Of Sea Temperature Anomalies
The oceans play an important role in the climate system owing to the interannual and longer timescale
variability in sea surface temperature (SST). Hasselmann (1976) proposed that this climate variability
could be represented by a stochastic first order auto regressive process
(AR1 process) and should be considered as the null hypothesis for extra tropical sea surface
temperature anomalies (SSTA). According to this concept, SSTAs quickly responds to the atmospheric
heat fluxes at short time period and the heat capacity of the ocean integrates the
SSTA variability on a longer time period. Frankignoul and Hasselmann (1977) have further suggested
that the atmospheric forcing for SST anomalies follows a spectrum of white noise with constant ...

Thus the broad structure of the SSTA spectrum is determined by the depth of the ocean ML and
atmospheric process.
Attempts to include additional processes, such as Ekman transport, entrainment of sub mixed layer
thermal anomalies (Dommenget and Latif 2002; Deser et al. 2003; Lee et al. 2008), state dependent
noise (Sura et al. 2005) and the re emergence associated with seasonal change in MLD (Schneider and
Cornuelle 2005) has shown to increase the SSTA variance at annual and longer timescales. However,
studies have demonstrated that the SST variability at some part of the oceans cannot be represented by
a simple AR1 process (Hall and Manabe
1997; Dommenget and Latif 2002, 2008). The inconsistency arises from the exchange of heat energy
in the mixed layer and sub mixed layer in the ocean.
The strong seasonal cycle of the MLD can strengthen the persistence of SSTA from one winter to the
following. The timescale in which the subsurface temperature anomalies entrain to the surface (nearly
1 year) is expected to influence the spectral variance of SSTA. Möller et al. (2008) have shown a peak
in the annual time period in the power spectrum of midlatitude
SSTA that is associated with the re emergence. Figure 5.3 illustrates the power spectrum of
SSTA and 90% significance level (shaded), presented in different ways (taken from Moller et al.
(2008)). Figure 5.3a express the spectral variance density, while figure 5.3b

The Signal Data Obtained Through The Measurement Phase
The signal data obtained in the measurement phase is then used to approximate the position of the
target node. Since, due to many factors range data often gets attenuated by noisy signal measurements,
optimization methods are to be employed to filter the noise and arrive at a more definite position
estimate. Lateration:When ranges between anchor nodes and the mobile node can be determined,
lateration is used to estimate position [35]. For two dimensional localization, three range
measurements from known positions (anchor nodes) are required. Radius of a circle of each category

the intersection is the location of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most common outputs include: Absolute positions: Positions with coordinate s information which
could be directly mapped to physical space. The absolute location could either be represented in
discrete space as cells or grids or in continuous space with coordinates. Relative positions: The
geometrical relative location by angle or distance to certain reference point (RP), in other word, the
absolute position of the user could be obtained only if absolute positions of RP are known. Logical
positions: Identifying user s position without information directly corresponding to physical space but
associated with certain patterns including motions, activities and landmarks. Physical location could
then be given by retrieving associate spatial features of those patterns. The output of a localization
system is closely related to the methodology or algorithms the system uses to localize. The calculation
of positions is the core engine of localization. We examine various existing methods and sort them
into following categories: Geometric: System based on geometric calculation including triangulation,
trilateration and multilateration, to give user s relative position to certain RP. When the absolute
positions of RP are known, the absolute position of user could be given. Inertial navigation system

The Characteristics Of Professional Basketball Athletes In...
When people think of professional basketball players, the first word that usually comes to mind is tall .
However, that is not always the case. There are many players that are under 6 3 and while that may
sound tall to us, it is short in the world of basketball. Surprisingly, some of the shorter players are
known to be better on the court. And they re not just known for their height... many are known for the
name brands they represent. Nike, Under Armour, Adidas, and Jordan, are just a few of the brands that
are promoted by these players. All great basketball players, NBA or not, are tall. Both current and past
players all have a common trait of being tall. Lebron James 6 8, Kevin Durant 6 10, Jimmy Butler 6 6.
All of these players have height, and the skills that come with it. Being tall in the NBA doesn t
guarantee you are the best players, but it does give you a significant advantage. Lebron and Kevin
both have championship rings and a numerous about of MVP s (Most Valuable Player). These awards
show what having height and the skills that come with it, can give a huge disadvantage to the rest of
the smaller guards and forwards in the NBA. Both Kevin and Lebron developed the skills of being big
men , and once it was perfected, they developed the insane art or shooting. These two players can
shoot from anywhere, That s what makes them so dominant and un guardable. Their size only adds to

Personal Jurisdiction In The United States
In a moment of our lives we have heard or experiment the word jurisdiction, whether in a legal
problem, television, radio, newspaper or school. Jurisdiction is used in legal problems that means the
right or power in a territory to interpret and apply the law. Can be defined as the law to speak to
interpret and apply the law. Jurisdiction have many meanings but if someday we have a legal problem
we can use it in our favor. Jurisdiction refers to the lawful right of legislative, executive, or judicial
branch to exercise official authority. (Reid 6). Jurisdiction have power in certain territories these
means if someone want to judge in a place that they don t have jurisdiction they are broken the law.

divorces, guardianships, and trials of felonies. Courts can no decide cases for which they do not have
jurisdiction. For example, some courts can hear and decide misdemeanor cases only; others can decide
felony cases.
Any court has jurisdiction over matter. A legal question of jurisdiction can be: jurisdiction to
determinate jurisdiction . State courts have general jurisdiction that means that can hear any
controversy, except those that are prohibited. Federal courts are different have limited jurisdiction that
only can hear cases that involve both within the scope defined by the constitution and congressional
statues. Other forms of jurisdiction involve exclusive and concurrent jurisdiction. Exclusive State
Jurisdiction is not subject to Federal Jurisdiction. For example: divorce and adoption cases.
Concurrent Jurisdiction: cases involving federal questions and diversity of citizenship cases. Exclusive
Federal Jurisdiction: cases involving federal crimes, federal antitrust, bankruptcy, patents, copyright,

Liberal Arts and Business Connection At first glance liberal arts and business may seem to have no
real connection but the underlying education and skills taught allow them to work well together. In an

lacks passion. The article stated that, Entrapment can be considered as the long lasting condition and
weak part of young adult independent professional beyond the first stages of their careers. Choosing a

2017, p. 9). Non profits are very similar to small businesses and having a business background as well
would strength a student s ability to successful fill the position within a nonprofit. As stated
previously, Washington and Lee University is one of the top liberal arts schools. It is a small, highly
selective private institution and it is also the only top tier national liberal arts college with an
Association to Advance Collegiate School of Business (AAACSB) accredited school of business.
Through this school it shows that liberal arts schools are able to get accreditation in the business world
and that it is not impossible to be diverse as a school. This school sets the mark of with what it has
already done with making the connection with both liberal arts and business. The school itself, was
founded back in 1749 and has a long history of providing business education at the undergraduate
level. As of 1927, the University was accredited but the AAACSB (Diette Kester, 2015, p.208). At the

Nitrogen is used by plants in order to synthesize protein...
Nitrogen is used by plants in order to synthesize protein peptide bonds and for cell growth. Not only is
this nutrient required in the largest quantity by plants, but it is also the most frequently limiting factor
when it comes to productivity in crops. Plants cannot use nitrogen in the air and in the soil system it is
lost easily. Because of this plants are forced to obtain nitrogen in the form of nitrate and ammonium
from the soil. Too much nitrate can cause a negative effect on the plant including nitrate toxicity. High
levels of nitrate are not only bad for plants but can also be dangerous to animals or humans in their
presence. Here I discuss the scientific evidence of the effects of nitrate accumulation on plants and the
... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If the rate at which the nitrate is reduced is lower then uptake, then accumulation of large amounts of
nitrate can occur. No accumulation occurs when the rate of uptake equals the rate of reduction.
Accumulation of nitrate usually results from plant stress, such as drought, and is made more
prominent by excessive soil nitrogen. Other forms of plant stress that cause accumulation of nitrate
involve the restriction of plant growth while the absorption of nitrate from soil still continues. Some of
these forms include certain herbicides, frost, acid soils, deficiencies of essential nutrients, low growing
temperatures, and finally reduced sunlight. Due to the fact that nitrate accumulation builds up the most
in plant stems instead of leaves. (3) Nitrate content in vegetables is influenced primarily by light
intensity and nitrogen fertilization. Diurnal changes in light intensity lead to a diurnal pattern, a
pattern that recurs every 24 hours as a result of one full rotation of the Earth, in nitrate accumulation
in plants. (4) When plants receive too much nitrogen in the form of nitrate through its soil, it can have
several detrimental effects on it. Too much nitrogen in plants can deplete the plant s carbohydrate
reserves more rapidly, stimulate rapid shoot growth while slowing down root growth, and result in
thinner more succulent leaf tissue, which increases moisture loss. Other effects include predisposing
the plant to greater insect

Illegal Off Label Promotion Is Personal Choice Of Actions

Illegal off label promotion is personal choice of actions.
Thinking about the responsibility for illegal off label promotion, question of the chain of command
pops out. Who initiates that type of campaigns and actions? Sometimes it s company s established

workshop to continue his study on the human voice. In 1871, Bell moved to Boston and he began to
work on a device that would allow the telegraph transmission of several messages set to different
frequencies. He found financial backing through two local investors. These local investors had been
Thomas Sanders and Gardiner Hubbard. At this time, a device called the telegraph was the fastest way
to send messages. Between 1873 and 1874, Bell spent long days and nights trying to perfect the
telegraph. Bell wanted to make the telegraph work faster and to find a way to send more than one
message over a wire at a time. While he was working on that, he got an even bigger idea. What if
voices could travel by wire from place to place? That would be faster than the telegraph. Bell was not
good at building things. He needed someone who could turn his sketches, or drawings, into a working
machine so Thomas Watson become his assistant. Watson

Saint Catherine s Transfiguration
Before having his last supper and being crucified, Jesus Christ walked up a mountain to pray with
three of his disciples, Peter, John and James. As the three slept, Christ was visited by the spirits of
Moses and Elijah who told him that he would have to sacrifice himself in Jerusalem. Once the
disciples awoke, they were greeted by Christ who was covered in holy light as a voice in large clouds
told them: This is my son, whom I have chosen; listen to him. As they all went down the mountain,
Christ told his disciples that what had happened needed to be a secret until he would be resurrected,
questioning the disciples loyalty which they did not break. This scene became Christ s transfiguration,

In Raphael s scene, Christ floats in the air with his arms stretched out and his legs bent with his robes
flapping behind and around him while the mosaic portrays Christ and his clothes standing still with his
hands showing the symbols of the church. While Raphael emphasises on the power of his stance as his
light and movements affect the world around him, the mosaic uses its characterization to focus on the
role of Christ as his stance is meant to inspire and be respected by the church and its visitors.
Similarly, Elijah and Moses in Raphael s transfiguration are floating as well, gliding their way to and
around Christ as they carry their wavering robes and books, representing them to the audience as wise
scholars and teachers who stare valiantly at the holy light of Christ. At the same time, in the mosaic,
these same characters simply stand in the corners of the scene standing as still as the mosaic s Christ
and their arms pointing up and towards him, showing their command and guidance over him and the
church. Surprisingly, Peter, John and James share similar characterizations between the two art pieces.

The Media And Popular Culture
Media and Popular Culture Popular culture is different from traditional culture; it is based on the
timeline of the significant characteristics of a culture. Popular culture is the ideas, attitudes, thinking,
memes, images, and other phenomena that are in the mainstream of a given culture, especially the
western culture in the early 20th century to the middle 20th century and the emerging global
mainstream in the early 20th and the 21st century. Deeply influenced by the mass media, this
collection of ideas permeates daily life of the society (Wikipedia 2014). Mass media is conceived and
designed to reach a very large media audience. It may need to be in the form of broadcast media, in
television and radio, or print media, such as newspapers and magazines. Internet media can also obtain
the status of the mass media; actually, with so many ways out there provided by internet media, mass
media has been more accessible than ever before. Some people also call it the mainstream media ,
refer to the fact that it tends to give prominent coverage to the news that are cater for the interest of the
public, while ignores the controversial news. Most people around the world are dependent on
mainstream sources for most of their news, so globally, it has already been a huge industry. But there
could be some problems with mass means too, as it could devour the diversity and have negative
effect on popular culture.

MOVE. However, they failed and became involved in a standoff which evolved into a shootout.
MOVE had turned the row house into a fortified compound complete with weapons. After the standoff
had gone on for several hours Philadelphia s police commissioner Gregore J. Sambor, with the mayor
W. Wilson Goode s approval, bombed the compound which was in a residential area. The ensuing
flame eventually burned down 61 homes and severly damaged more homes in the area. The bombing
killed six adults and five children who were inside the house. MOVE members were previously
involved in a firefight with police in August 1978. Nine of their members, of which seven remain in
prison, were convicted of killing officer James J. Ramp. The

Clegg and Smart (2010) noted that the term outcome measurement process is often interchangeable
with achievement, goal, objective and indicator. Furthermore, Clegg and Smart (2010) went on to
identify these terms, goals, outcomes present as essential elements to assist in identification of
relevant data for program evaluation. Definitions of terms recognizes that goals are a broad statement
of the ultimate aims of the program, outcomes are the changes in the lives of recipients, organization
communities and those impacted by the program, and indicators indentifies specific, measurable
information that can be collected or tracked to show that outcomes have occurred (Clegg Smart,
2010).
In as much, this paper will utilize the same terminology of goals, outcomes and indicators in the
DSMES program development evaluation. However, the first step in program development begins
with the needs assessment or statement of need, as previously noted Saline County needs assessment
revealed the lack of an outpatient DSMES and insulin pump management program which accepted all
patients. Components of the needs assessment identified in the previous logic model are listed in Table

The Use Of Nigger
The use of the term nigger can be used as a amicable greeting between two blacks, or as a hideous
pejorative (Marriott 94) towards blacks. Marriott notes that the use of nigger is usually condoned and
used by younger blacks as a term of endearment (98), in hopes to gradually alter the meaning of the
word. Their goal is to normalize the usage of nigger between blacks to dull its edge whenever whites
use it (Marriott 95). This has been proved somewhat efficient, as most whites dread the word and
express feelings of disgust whenever it is heard from the mouth of whites. Many younger blacks
believe their efforts are stimulating a progression in society, but older blacks and the majority of
whites assert just the opposite it illustrates anything

Great College Debate Many people will tell you that you college is the most important thing you could
do after high school. However, there is no right or wrong answer. Different people are made to do
different things. What alternatives are there? you might be wondering. There are many things to do
once you graduate from high school. All people have certain skill sets that they can use after high
school. Not all high school graduates are able to be successful in college. By the same token, there are
plenty of students who would succeed with college. The alternatives, most modern parents have
trouble acknowledging them. Some people are best suited for the military, some suited for college, and
some are suited to go straight into the job force doing jobs such as welding and construction.
The military is becoming an increasingly common job to go into after high school. What most people
like about it is that you don t need to be intelligent, nor do you need to have any life skills. The
military will take you from being a soft putty into a rock solid sculpture. They stress discipline as well
as teach you the skills you need to go into the workforce if you only plan on staying for 4 years.

without a good college degree. Going to college out of high school is very expensive. Many will agree
that if you can afford to go without putting your family into some sort of financial jeopardy, do it.
Many people also try to go to the military after college because you will be placed into a job that
greatly lowers your risk of ever finding yourself in any combat situation. College is also a very fun
social experience when you are younger as opposed to when you decide to get out of the military and

Philadelphia Descriptive Writing
After a long boring plane trip with my mom, dad, and grandma, we arrived at Philadelphia. We found
a nice hotel and stayed in a small town nearby. Philadelphia is the sight of hundreds of historical sights
and is the second largest city on the east coast. The hustle and bustle of Philadelphia affected my mom
but when we found Pat s King of Steaks we had a delicious lunch, and dinner was eaten at a Phillies
game, downtown. The next day we drove around all the historical sights like Independence Hall, and I
finally got to see the Liberty Bell! However, others don t like Philadelphia because of the traffic and
crowds. Leaving Philadelphia was sad but the next part was supposed to be more fun. The area around
Philadelphia is supposed to be beautiful, and it was. We drove through Lancaster and spent a night in
York. In conclusion, the historical sights and locations were the highlights of Philadelphia and the
country around Philadelphia was beautiful as well. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Representation Of Macbeth In William Shakespeare s Play
Anokhi Ladhani
The deepest darkest corners of man s heart is filled with greed, violence, and selfishness. This rules
every man s thoughts and actions. Whether they would like to admit it or not, there is a facade of
genuity, a charade of sincerity, and a parody of the good deeds done everyday. No one is one hundred
percent candid about what they are thinking, and that s what I saw in Macbeth in the play by William
Shakespeare. His appearance when he went to battle, his murderous actions against children and his
apparent disregard for his wife s death as shown in the film adaption, developed my understanding of
Macbeth s cynical representation.
Prepare for battle. It will be a mighty match. Macbeth sure did prepare with the war paint on his

Essay On Catalyst Leader
When someone says leader people think many things and how that will affect them and how they will
do their job. However, a catalyst leader is someone that looks into things, makes a wise, smart, and
well rounded decision, and then acts on it. The decision is fair and accurate for the team that is
involved. The leader is acting on the behalf of the team and what is best for them as well as
themselves. I can see from the book that a good leader always puts themselves last and their team first.
This is typically what good leaders do in all situations. Christian leaders want what is best for
everyone under them and will do whatever it takes to make God happy while assisting his workers in
the workplace. The people need to be happy for things to grow, develop, and progress. When all this is
complete the real work can begin and people can learn new things.
Throughout the book The Catalyst Leader there are eight key factors that are stressed for the readers to
take in and understand how important they are. They are calling, authenticity, passion, capability,
courage, principle, hope, and collaboration. All eight of these things make up a better leader and

followers and there are leaders and when a strong leader set a good example people will pay attention.
This can be an amazing things for the person as well as the people who are following suite. When
people let God in and work with them in a situation things happen in a mysterious way that no one can

Drag Queen Analysis
Drag queens have spent years performing for themselves and for many other people. Their shows
today are a way to express themselves and make people question what they know about gender and
sexuality. Rupp and Taylor in their book, Drag Queens at the 801 Cabaret discuss this subject in detail,
calling their performances a form of protest. They question the roles that society has put them into,
and in turn provoke their audiences to question these things, such as gender and sexuality. This type of
social protest is called subversion. Through this book, we can more specifically look at two types of
subversion that played a major role in the 801 drag queen s performances. The first, and most obvious,
is the idea of masculinity versus femininity, and how the Queens use different techniques to break free
from the traditional way of thinking about these concepts. The second is the overt way that the Queens
portray sex and sexuality, in ways that are impossible for the audience to ignore. Both these types of
subversion have an overarching theme of crossing boundaries, whether over the division of the gender
binary, or the limits of what is socially acceptable to talk about regarding sex. Drag queens envelop
the audience and take many of them out of their comfort zone.
What it means to be feminine and masculine in our society has been drilled into each and every one of
us since birth. Men are taught to act a certain way, so as to be the breadwinners and protectors of
women. Women

Moral Duty In Firestorm And The Immigrant
Word Count (598)
Science fiction is a genre of speculative fiction which allows us as readers to contemplate grand
religious concepts such as moral duty and G d s will as we vicariously live through fictitious
characters in dystopian societies or remarkable situations. Such concepts are explored in The
Handmaid s Tale by Margaret Attwood, Canticles for Leibowitz by Walter Miller, and Contamination
by Richard Bowker as moral duty is contemplated, while in Firestorm by Steve Tem and The Emigrant
by Joel Rosenberg, G d s plan is explored.
Protagonists in works of science fiction are often faced with moral dilemmas brought about by
dystopian societies. In The Handmaid s Tale , the protagonist Offred and her husband Luke are forced
to flee their home as Congress is taken over by the military regime of the Christian fundamentalists of
Gilead. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because of this extreme situation, Luke takes the cat into the garage and kills her while Offred
remains in their living room. She reflects on how she should have at least have asked him about it
afterwards, so he didn t have to carry it alone (Attwood 192) . This ethical dilemma causes her guilt
and is a direct effect of the dystopian society of Gilead which forces its residents to make these
unbearable decisions. Similarly, in Canticles for Leibowitz set in the year 3781, nuclear explosions
begin to erupt as part of a war and a Doctor Cors opens a relief camp in an abbey. He meets a mother
and child who suffer from radiation sickness and decides to administer them euthanasia as he doesn t
want to live as the torturer of that woman and that child (Miller 565). The dystopian world he lives in
full of nuclear radiation compels him to break his promise to the abbey not to go against

Structural Violence And Its Effects On Society
Structural violence has become a frequently used instrument in the word of systemic oppression. This
type of oppression and unfair limitations of civil, criminal and basic human rights can cause suffering
and death to many innocent lives. Sociologist Johan Galtung was the one who developed this theory of
structural violence. Indicated in one of his articles Violence, Peace, and Peace Research , structural
violence is the systematic constraint on human potential due to economic and political structures
(Galtung, 1969, p.177). Galtung is telling the readers that certain groups of people are systematically
being limited to resources in society either directly or indirectly. Structural violence has been
described as the most basic of fundamental form of violence, as it is expressive of the conditions of
society that reproduce mass violations of personhood twenty four hours a day, seven days a week
(Barak, 2003, p.113). This demonstrates that structural violence is an on going way to steal ones
opportunities in society. Racism, sexism, classism and ageism are all examples of structural violence.
It can be visible and invisible and can cause disadvantages for people who are considered poor or a
minority within society. Structural violence is extremely important as it could lead to poverty,
starvation, sicknesses and deaths. Although structural violence is a powerful and common method of
ferocity, there are agents of change who locally and globally contribute to the

Essay on Characterization in Rappaccini’s Daughter
Characterization in Rappaccini s Daughter
The dialogue, action and motivation revolve about the characters in the story (Abrams 32 33). It is the
purpose of this essay to demonstrate the types of characters present in Nathaniel Hawthorne s
Rappaccini s Daughter, whether static or dynamic, whether flat or round, and whether portrayed
through showing or telling.
The tale takes place in Padua, Italy, where a Naples student named Giovanni Guascanti has relocated
in order to attend the medical school there. His modest room is in an old mansion watched over by the
landlady, Dame Lisabetta, a two dimensional character given to religious expletives like, ``Holy

The reader sees another character enter the tale with the doctor s shout in the infirm voice of a person
affected with inward disease, ` Beatrice! Beatrice! From his window Giovanni sees approaching the
doctor s daughter beautiful as the day, and with a bloom so deep and vivid that one shade more would
have been too much. Her abilities are exceptional because it is apparent to Giovanni that she handled
and inhaled the odor of several of the plants which her father had most sedulously avoided. Beatrice
exhibits an especially close relationship to the purple gem plant, which Rappaccini is too fearful of
tending anymore: ``Yes, my sister, my splendour, it
shall be Beatrice s task to nurse and serve thee; and thou shalt reward her with thy kisses and
perfumed breath, which to her is as the breath of life. Beatrice is slowly developed into a round
character, not as round as Giovanni however.
As the protagonist withdraws from the window of his room in order to lie down, the author shows his
usage of an omniscient narrator in the development of this character: Giovanni, closing the lattice,
went to his couch and dreamed of

Taking a Look at Blood, Sweat and Tears
No late 60s American group ever started with as much musical promise as Blood, Sweat Tears, or
realized their potential more fully and then blew it all in a series of internal conflicts and grotesque
career moves. It could almost sound funny, talking about a group that sold close to six million records
in three years and then squandered all of that momentum. They fused a rock roll rhythm section to a
horn section, held out the promise of a jazz rock fusion that could storm the pop charts. The band was
organized in New York in 1967. Al Kooper (born February 5, 1944, NY). He was an ex member of the
Blues Project, in need of money and a fresh start in music. Jim Fielder (born October 4, 1947, Denton,

talking about starting a group. He was only prepared to throw into another band if he were calling the
shots. Kooper had visualized it would have a horn section that would be as out front as Kooper s
keyboards or Katz z guitar. Colomby brought in alto saxman Fred Libsius(born November 19, 1944,

The Power And The Glory Essay
The Power and the Glory is considered Greene s most renowned novel. The Power and the Glory is a
most remarkable novel, and Mr. Greene proves by it that he is the first novelist of his generation
(WALPOLE, spiritual conflict in the Power and the Glory. It is based on actual events in Mexico in
1926, when the revolutionary government of President Plutarco Elias Calles attempts to eradicate
Roman Catholicism entirely. The worst persecution occurs in the state of Tabasco, where Governor
Tomas Canabal succeeds in driving every priest from his domain. It is a truly religio political novel.
It is concerned with the conflict between the individual and the antireligious state, because the
Mexican government is decided to stamp out Catholicism and erect in its place socialism and atheism
as guiding principles. The war is declared, the war between the God of faith and the devil of the
twentieth century (Jones, spiritual conflict in the power and the glory).
The title of the novel, The Power and the Glory is assumed to have been taken from the last part of the
Lord s Prayer, invoking God as Our father in Heaven: for thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the
glory, forever, Amen . The title has a parallel reference to T.S. Eliot s poem, The Hollow Men.
Significantly, the word power is used for a variety of words and phrases, which means the ability to do
something supreme. God gives power to man with freedom and authority. The power and the authority
given to man by god are

  • 2. Wildfire Assessment Wildfire Assessment For as long as mankind can conceive, fire has been a remarkable tool to conquer. When controlled, it provides necessary heat, energy, and fuel for a consumer to use; however, when fire goes unattended, it has the potential to become a wholly destructive element. The more western states of America, such as Utah and Colorado, have repeatedly experienced this concept in its most devastating form: wildfires. A wildfire is generally considered to be difficult to control and fast moving, swallowing anything that lay in its path, including forest or human habitat. As human incursion reaches more remote areas in wooded mountains, wildfires pose a serious threat to high end homes and secluded cabins. The untamed nature of these fires also allows them to creep into subdivisions and endanger more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For centuries, society has been battling these natural disasters with considerable effort, only to come up with charred land and numerous homeless citizens. The one most significant gain, however, that comes with these fires is the vigorous regrowth that occurs years after the devastation. With a freshly cleared area, decaying sediment acting as fertilizer, and a significantly lower chance for fires, new life is easily reintroduced from the waste. The question then becomes whether it is ethical for human intervention with what is completely natural and healthy for the surrounding environment. The idea of allowing uncontrolled burns comes with great potential for animal and plant habitats, however it leaves many citizens in the wake of danger. Finding the balance between these two ideas, excessive interference and absolute surrender of control, is an important endeavor to way ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Mealsault And Meursault In Albert Camus s The Stranger The characters observed in Albert Camus s book, The Stranger, are human; they aren t anything more or anything less. Every human is cruel and unusual in one way or the other. People are inhumane to each other and make irrational decisions, but they are still considered human. Characters like Raymond and the magistrate exhibit these traits. From the view of people, remaining completely objective to any given subject is impossible. There always is bias and opinion in their thought process. However, Meursault is not every person. His decisions are impulsive, based purely on facts and his surroundings. People cannot understand Meursault because he can take everything at face value with only himself as the center of relativity; no one else can do that. People like the priest try to understand it but cannot, so they try changing Meursault instead. Others like Raymond take advantage of it. They all are indifferent towards Meursault s understanding. Meursault is seen as the absurdity of the world because he sees the discrepancies of other people s lives head on by being objective to their actions, behaviors, and beliefs while remaining steadfast towards his own reality. Raymond was the most morally unjust person that interacted with Meursault, which shows Meursault s objectivity towards choices between good and evil. Throughout the novel Meursault associates with Raymond even in wake of his peer s poor opinions of Raymond s character. Meursault listens and does whatever ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Electrophilic Aromatic Substitution And Column... Experiment FIVE: Electrophilic Aromatic Substitution and Column Chromatography Reaction Procedure A hot plate was preheated to 100°C. A dry 5 mL long neck round bottom flask was clamped over an aluminum block placed on the hot plate. Ferrocene (0.09 g), acetic anhydride (0.35 mL), and 85% phosphoric acid was added to the flask in that order of addition. A magnetic stir bar was added to the flask. Solution was stirred and heated for 10 minutes. Flask was removed and allowed to cool to ambient temperature. DI water (0.5 mL) was added and the solution was cooled to 0°C by ice bath. The solution was neutralized with 3M sodium hydroxide dropwise while stirring and cooling. PH was monitor by pH indictor paper. Solid product was isolated by vacuum ... Theoretically speaking an additional orange band, representing acetylferrocene, should have eluted after the shift in mobile phases. Considering that the mobile phase changes from a non polar content to that of higher polarity with the addition of ethyl acetate, it is logical that a polar species like acetylferrocene would elute. After collecting and evaporating the solvent portion of the darkest yellow fraction, the resulting mass was 0.017 g, an 18% yield from the starting the amount. This yield could be raise if the additional yellow fractions were collect. The melting point of this collected fraction was 170°C, which reasonably close to the literature value of 172. Considering that the species sampled was the started reactant, thus there was no chemical change, it safe to assume the purified product is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Heterodox Hero Of Horror In Francis Lawrence s I Am Legend Heterodox hero of horror With protagonist and offbeat hero; Dr Robert Neville, Francis Lawrence breathes a fresh nonconformity into the void of stereotypes that have too long permeated modern heroic cinema Hayden Newell writes. n decades past, the notion of an African American, I socially inept and mentally broken hero may very well have passed with a scornful chuckle from Hollywood s gentry. Tasked with reinvigorating Richard Matheson s sci fi horror page turner; I am Legend, Francis Lawrence puts this very notion into blockbuster filmic practice with 2007 s aptly titled; I am Legend. Lawrence rewrites the doctrine of supremacy, violence and impenetrability that has too long governed pop culture heroism, instead, defining his hero; protagonist and military virologist Dr Robert Neville, with normal imperfections and a humanness so brilliantly atypical to the banal muscly do gooder stereotype. Neville, pertinently portrayed by A lister Will Smith, is left miraculously immune to a cancer cure turned world ending virus, and takes upon himself the task of curing the remaining few, who have been rendered zombies by the fateful virus. Indeed, Lawrence opts for nonconformity over traditional definitions of the hero s journey , with Neville s quest commencing three years post apocalypse, and the plot meandering along a sweeping narrative punctuated by turbulent flashbacks to its punchy conclusion. Inevitably, archaic linear models stumble in their quest for relevance, as Lawrence favours realism and modernity over obsolete archetypes. It is abundantly clear that Neville is no traditional pro violence man of action, one may even argue that Neville is constructed as a tragic hero with the loss of his family, or anti hero with his mental struggle, and certainly, the protagonist exhibits certain traits that may allow these thoughts some weight. Though these time honoured archetypes fall short of defining ultimately, the heterodoxy and rawness of Lawrence s hero, Neville is a tormented man; a hero whose external battles dwindle in significance when compared with his mental struggle, and whose uniqueness in itself challenges cinematic dogma. Lawrence allows the viewer little time to settle in, launching directly into ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Solar Wind Is Dominated By Two Types Of Interplanetary... 2.1 Introduction In the heliosphere, the large scale structure of the solar wind is dominated by two types of interplanetary disturbances: transient and corotating disturbances. Corotating disturbances, associated with spatial variability and solar rotation, occur in response to the interaction of fast and slow solar winds. Transient disturbances, due to episodic solar eruptions, expand outward from the Sun into interplanetary space (Gosling, 1996). The galactic cosmic ray (GCR) intensity is modulated by long term effects such as ≈ 11 year solar activity cycle and ≈ 22 year solar magnetic cycle as well as by short term effects such as passage of corotating flows (high speed streams) and transient disturbances (e.g. interplanetary coronal mass ejections). Recurrent depressions in GCR intensity due to corotating fields and flows and Forbush decreases due to transient disturbances have been studied in the past (see, e.g. Lockwood, 1971; Rao, 1972; Iucci et al., 1989; Venkatesan and Badruddin, 1990; Cane, 2000; Kudela et al., 2000; Gupta and Badruddin, 2009; Oh and Yi, 2009; Kane, 2010; Wawrzynczak and Alania, 2010; Abbrescia et al., 2011; Modzelewska and Alania, 2012; Sabbah and Kudela, 2011, and references therein). Short term transient depression caused generally by ICMEs and particularly by magnetic clouds have been studied extensively and many features of resulting depressions in GCR intensity, including their recovery characteristics, have been clarified (see, ... • 7. Growing Up In The House On Mango Street By Sandra Cisneros In the novel, The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros, the theme of growing up is prevalent throughout the book. Throughout the novel, a young mexican girl named Esperanza goes through experiences as she matures that involve her friends, society, dangers that expose her to the outside world and help her to realize what the real world is like. The first time Esperanza makes an appearance in the book, she is younger and easily manipulated, especially by her friends. Esperanza meets a girl named Cathy, a snobby girl that lived on Mango Street. When Cathy tells Esperanza Okay, I ll be your friend. But only until next Tuesday. That s when we move away. Then as if she forgot I had just moved in, she says the neighborhood is getting bad (13) This was a racist statement towards Esperanza and her family, something she doesn t quite understand yet because Esperanza thinks Cathy forgot they moved in, yet she was actually being racist. This is the first time Esperanza is exposed to racism in the book, therefore exposing her to the outside world. Later in the book, Esperanza meets Sally, a beautiful girl with shiny black hair, that all she seemingly just wants is to love, and Esperanza wants to be just like her. I like your black coat and the shoes you wear, where did you get them? I want to buy shoes just like yours. (82) Sally and Esperanza become friends, but later in the story, in the chapter Red Clowns, Esperanza is put in a dangerous situation where Sally walks off ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Importance Of Sea Temperature Anomalies The oceans play an important role in the climate system owing to the interannual and longer timescale variability in sea surface temperature (SST). Hasselmann (1976) proposed that this climate variability could be represented by a stochastic first order auto regressive process (AR1 process) and should be considered as the null hypothesis for extra tropical sea surface temperature anomalies (SSTA). According to this concept, SSTAs quickly responds to the atmospheric heat fluxes at short time period and the heat capacity of the ocean integrates the SSTA variability on a longer time period. Frankignoul and Hasselmann (1977) have further suggested that the atmospheric forcing for SST anomalies follows a spectrum of white noise with constant ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Thus the broad structure of the SSTA spectrum is determined by the depth of the ocean ML and atmospheric process. Attempts to include additional processes, such as Ekman transport, entrainment of sub mixed layer thermal anomalies (Dommenget and Latif 2002; Deser et al. 2003; Lee et al. 2008), state dependent noise (Sura et al. 2005) and the re emergence associated with seasonal change in MLD (Schneider and Cornuelle 2005) has shown to increase the SSTA variance at annual and longer timescales. However, studies have demonstrated that the SST variability at some part of the oceans cannot be represented by a simple AR1 process (Hall and Manabe 1997; Dommenget and Latif 2002, 2008). The inconsistency arises from the exchange of heat energy in the mixed layer and sub mixed layer in the ocean. The strong seasonal cycle of the MLD can strengthen the persistence of SSTA from one winter to the following. The timescale in which the subsurface temperature anomalies entrain to the surface (nearly 1 year) is expected to influence the spectral variance of SSTA. Möller et al. (2008) have shown a peak in the annual time period in the power spectrum of midlatitude SSTA that is associated with the re emergence. Figure 5.3 illustrates the power spectrum of SSTA and 90% significance level (shaded), presented in different ways (taken from Moller et al. (2008)). Figure 5.3a express the spectral variance density, while figure 5.3b ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. The Signal Data Obtained Through The Measurement Phase The signal data obtained in the measurement phase is then used to approximate the position of the target node. Since, due to many factors range data often gets attenuated by noisy signal measurements, optimization methods are to be employed to filter the noise and arrive at a more definite position estimate. Lateration:When ranges between anchor nodes and the mobile node can be determined, lateration is used to estimate position [35]. For two dimensional localization, three range measurements from known positions (anchor nodes) are required. Radius of a circle of each category as anchor nodes as represented in is the ideal position. At one point the three circles intersect, and that the intersection is the location of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Most common outputs include: Absolute positions: Positions with coordinate s information which could be directly mapped to physical space. The absolute location could either be represented in discrete space as cells or grids or in continuous space with coordinates. Relative positions: The geometrical relative location by angle or distance to certain reference point (RP), in other word, the absolute position of the user could be obtained only if absolute positions of RP are known. Logical positions: Identifying user s position without information directly corresponding to physical space but associated with certain patterns including motions, activities and landmarks. Physical location could then be given by retrieving associate spatial features of those patterns. The output of a localization system is closely related to the methodology or algorithms the system uses to localize. The calculation of positions is the core engine of localization. We examine various existing methods and sort them into following categories: Geometric: System based on geometric calculation including triangulation, trilateration and multilateration, to give user s relative position to certain RP. When the absolute positions of RP are known, the absolute position of user could be given. Inertial navigation system (INS): A common navigation method widely used on vehicles like ... • 10. The Characteristics Of Professional Basketball Athletes In... When people think of professional basketball players, the first word that usually comes to mind is tall . However, that is not always the case. There are many players that are under 6 3 and while that may sound tall to us, it is short in the world of basketball. Surprisingly, some of the shorter players are known to be better on the court. And they re not just known for their height... many are known for the name brands they represent. Nike, Under Armour, Adidas, and Jordan, are just a few of the brands that are promoted by these players. All great basketball players, NBA or not, are tall. Being tall in the NBA doesn t guarantee you are the best players, but it does give you a significant advantage. Lebron and Kevin both have championship rings and a numerous about of MVP s (Most Valuable Player). These awards show what having height and the skills that come with it, can give a huge disadvantage to the rest of the smaller guards and forwards in the NBA. Not only is this nutrient required in the largest quantity by plants, but it is also the most frequently limiting factor when it comes to productivity in crops. Plants cannot use nitrogen in the air and in the soil system it is lost easily. Because of this plants are forced to obtain nitrogen in the form of nitrate and ammonium from the soil. Too much nitrate can cause a negative effect on the plant including nitrate toxicity. High levels of nitrate are not only bad for plants but can also be dangerous to animals or humans in their presence. Here I discuss the scientific evidence of the effects of nitrate accumulation on plants and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If the rate at which the nitrate is reduced is lower then uptake, then accumulation of large amounts of nitrate can occur. No accumulation occurs when the rate of uptake equals the rate of reduction. Accumulation of nitrate usually results from plant stress, such as drought, and is made more prominent by excessive soil nitrogen. Other forms of plant stress that cause accumulation of nitrate involve the restriction of plant growth while the absorption of nitrate from soil still continues. Some of these forms include certain herbicides, frost, acid soils, deficiencies of essential nutrients, low growing temperatures, and finally reduced sunlight. Due to the fact that nitrate accumulation builds up the most in plant stems instead of leaves. (3) Nitrate content in vegetables is influenced primarily by light intensity and nitrogen fertilization. Diurnal changes in light intensity lead to a diurnal pattern, a pattern that recurs every 24 hours as a result of one full rotation of the Earth, in nitrate accumulation in plants. (4) When plants receive too much nitrogen in the form of nitrate through its soil, it can have several detrimental effects on it. Too much nitrogen in plants can deplete the plant s carbohydrate reserves more rapidly, stimulate rapid shoot growth while slowing down root growth, and result in thinner more succulent leaf tissue, which increases moisture loss. Their shows today are a way to express themselves and make people question what they know about gender and sexuality. Rupp and Taylor in their book, Drag Queens at the 801 Cabaret discuss this subject in detail, calling their performances a form of protest. They question the roles that society has put them into, and in turn provoke their audiences to question these things, such as gender and sexuality. This type of social protest is called subversion. Through this book, we can more specifically look at two types of subversion that played a major role in the 801 drag queen s performances. The first, and most obvious, is the idea of masculinity versus femininity, and how the Queens use different techniques to break free from the traditional way of thinking about these concepts. The second is the overt way that the Queens portray sex and sexuality, in ways that are impossible for the audience to ignore. Both these types of subversion have an overarching theme of crossing boundaries, whether over the division of the gender binary, or the limits of what is socially acceptable to talk about regarding sex. Drag queens envelop the audience and take many of them out of their comfort zone. What it means to be feminine and masculine in our society has been drilled into each and every one of us since birth. The reader sees another character enter the tale with the doctor s shout in the infirm voice of a person affected with inward disease, ` Beatrice! Beatrice! From his window Giovanni sees approaching the doctor s daughter beautiful as the day, and with a bloom so deep and vivid that one shade more would have been too much. As the protagonist withdraws from the window of his room in order to lie down, the author shows his usage of an omniscient narrator in the development of this character: Giovanni, closing the lattice, went to his couch and dreamed of ...
