Analysis Of Ronald Harry Coase s The Marginal Cost...
Ronald Harry Coase, an Emeritus Professor of Economics at the University of Chicago Law School.
Dr. Couse was awarded a Nobel Prize in Economics in 1991 for his work in the field of the Theory of
Market Institutions contributing to the line between economics, law and organization. The foundations
of Couse s beliefs were that serious economists should not study theoretical markets and instead
should concentrate all their efforts on real world markets. Dr. Coase is best known for two well
established articles The Nature of the Firm (1937) and The Problem of Social Cost (1960). The book
itself if a collection of these two critically acclaimed articles and three additional articles; The
Marginal Cost Controversy (1946), Industrial ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Coase s main points brought together in his introduction and additional notes, but drawn from his
scholarly articles begin with the concept that the choice between how a firm is organized and how the
market is organized is varied and will continue to be varied, but not because of changes in technology.
Instead, both individual firms and the market as a whole are organized so that each attempts to
minimize or economize inherent transaction costs. Coase goes on to explain that the study of these
tangible and material transaction costs is actually a study of opportunity cost. Charlie Munger, Warren
Buffet s less media attention grabbing partner, explains opportunity costs very succinctly and points a
finger in the eye of economic professors; Everything is based on opportunity costs. Academia has
done a terrible disservice: they teach in one sentence in first year economics about opportunity costs,
but that s it. In life, if opportunity A is better than B, and you have only one opportunity, you do A.
This is Coase s point, that firms and the market deal with the information at hand and make decisions
in a world of scarce resources. Given a choice between A and B, then the one with the maximized
value will be logically chosen every time. If in the real world study of a firm or market that the logical
choice wasn t chosen, then the economist has not values all the tangible benefits and costs that were
weighed by decision makers,

Otoacoustic Emission Study
College Music Majors and Non Music Majors: Hearing Thresholds and Distortion Product
Otoacoustic Emission Results
Introduction
Studies have shown that noise induced hearing loss (NIHL) can be caused by repeated loud exposures
to music (Miller, Stewart, Lehman 2007; Phillips, Henrich, Mace 2010). Miller et al. (2007) found that
university student musicians are a high risk population for hearing loss. In 2010, Phillips et al. found
that of 329 student musicians, 45% had a NIHL. This study will focus on the differences in hearing
thresholds and Distortion Product Otoacoustic Emission results (DPOAEs) between college music
majors and non music majors. This will help determine if steps and precautions need to be taken to
avoid NIHL in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Su Hyun et al. (2013) included giving information to the marching band members about the use of
hearing protection devices but over 50 percent of students reported not using the ear plugs during
rehearsals. Schmidt et al. (2014) included that hearing protection devices are a good idea, but did not
include whether or not this information was given to the participants. As a result of Phillips et al.
(2010), the university implemented a hearing conservation program. Jansen et. al (2009) also
incorporated information about giving musicians access to learning about the risks of noise exposure.
These studies have all concluded that continuing education about the risks of noise, use of hearing
protection devices, and the repercussions of hearing loss is important for musicians and should be
implemented in music programs.
Rationale Halevi Katz et al. (2015), Phillips et al. (2010), and Schmidt et al. (2014) have linked
hearing loss to musicians. Miller et al. (2007) and McBride et al. (1992) have shown that musicians
are an at risk population for hearing loss. Further research should be done to further develop if student
musicians are only an at risk population for hearing loss or are experiencing some form of hearing loss
when in comparison to their non music major related peers. This will help prove that hearing
conservation programs are needed on college campuses

Listeria Monocytogenes Canada
Listeria monocytogenes is a dangerous bacterium capable of contaminating food products if not
successfully controlled. The foodborne illness listeriosis is often the result of consuming foods tainted
with this pathogen. As a result, Canada has developed a Policy on Listeria monocytogenes in Ready to
Eat foods to help protect Canadians from this bacterium and its detrimental effects. This paper will
thoroughly examine the origin of this federal policy, the influences on its creation and its amendments.
The stakeholders influencing the construction as well as the impacts this policy has had in Canada will
also be considered, leaving a well rounded understanding on this fundamental policy.

37 The purpose of this latest amendment was to ultimately improve the oversight and compliance
activities of R.T.E foods with respect to their potential to support the growth of Listeria. For example,
it is now a requirement that environmental monitoring programs are incorporated in to all plants and
are used in the production of R.T.E food products. 38 Furthermore, the definition of R.T.E foods was
updated and expanded upon with regards to which foods display the potential to grow of L.
monocytogenes and a more detailed list of foods prone to contamination. 39 This policy revision also
focused aimed to provide an even greater focus to at protecting the high risk members of society,
specifically the infants, pregnant women and the elderly. 40 This aspect of the 2011 policy decision
was greatly influenced by the European cases of listeriosis regarding the decision to utilize more
efficient risk communication programs intended to protect these vulnerable groups, specifically the
aging members of society. 41 The majority of European cases have been attributed to elderly
population, as they are exceedingly prone to becoming ill. Therefore, this provided even more need to
center the policy on these at risk groups.

Who Is Clarence Darrow A Villain
Clarence Darrow is a person many people would consider a very important figure in our history, but
whether he is considered a hero or a villain depends more on a person s point of view. There are many
facts that Darrow can be considered as a villain because of his personal beliefs than from his actions.
Darrow was born in Farmdale, Ohio on April 18, 1857. Darrow began teaching at a country school in
the Kinsman area for three years, but he also managed to save some time to study law. He studied at
the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor and he enrolled in the law department at which he attends for
one year of classes. Clarence worked in a law office located in Youngstown, Ohio. In 1879, Darrow is
admitted to the bar and starts a law practice in Youngstown.
Darrow went from defending the Railroad owners to working for the American Railway Union
(ARU). Eugene V. Debs had been charged with conspiracy to commit an unlawful act, that is to block
the progress of the United States mails . Darrow took Debs as his case because of his great desire to
defend the people he felt had no chance of getting justice. Clarence Darrow and Eugene V. Debs
fought for American workers rights during the nineteenth and twentieth century. The rights they
defended were for the eight hour work day, child labor laws, and workplace ... Show more content on

During the case one of Clarence s associates was caught bribing a juror so that Darrow could have a

managed to get back to the way he was. The case against Darrow on jury tampering and bribery was

College Is A Time For Young Men And Women
College is a time for young men and women to achieve a higher education in order to grasp their
dreams and hopes for their lives. While on this endeavor, pressures in all forms, shapes, and sizes
attack us nearly every day. As a college student the fear and lack of money show their ugly head all
the time. Learning to budget money, deciding what is important to spend limited funds on, and the
ever present repayment of college loans puts stress on students. But the pressure that weighs the most
on my mind is the health of my family members. Letting these fear, distract your attention and focus
can lead to a place of depression and anxiety I would personally know because it has affected me only
six weeks into college.
Money is without a doubt the root of any and all evil. Money makes people do crazy things to obtain
it. It is very much like a drug that affects everyone on the planet, because of the allure of power that
comes with it. But in my circumstance money concerns me in the form of college payments. The
constant thought of what if attacks me on a day to day basis; what if I don t have enough money to eat
today, what if my scholarship falls through. But college is a ride that I willing signed up for and I am
more than determined to see it until the end. I feel that if I fail in college all of my hard work and all of
my dreams, and my mother s dreams will be for nothing. Now the annual repayment of loans isn t the
biggest factor to me, it is six months after

Multiple Characters In Anna Karenina By Lev Tolstoy
In Anna Karenina, Lev Tolstoy describes multiple characters in depth and gives the readers the
opportunity to create and change their opinions about most of them as the plot develops. The novel
begins with a rather striking quote, taken from Romans 12:19: Vengeance is mine, I will repay
(Tolstoy XXV). This sentence s meaning in it s biblical context and full length, is that it is not up to
people to punish others for their wrong doings, but that God will eventually take revenge and repay
them, for it is his right and duty to do so. Focusing on the meaning of this excerpt, I believe that it is
connected to the outcomes of Anna and Vronsky s affair, but also to that of the life of Dolly
Oblonskaya and her husband, as well as other characters . In this paper I will support my interpretation
of the reasons why I believe that despite the fact that Anna Karenina appears to suffer the
consequences of her love affair with Alexei Vronsky because she is a woman more than her brother
Stepan Oblonsky, the faith that the author assigns to her with allusions since the beginning of the
book, is connected to the fact that cheating is fundamentally wrong according to Tolstoy s perspective,
and that her punishment is a consequence of the above mentioned quotation. To sustain my
understanding of this theme I will make a comparison between Anna and some of the other main
characters who are involved in a romantic relationship or, as in Dolly s case, stuck in an unhappy
marriage.

Genetic Research And Its Effects On The Human Bodies
Abstract This study helps us to understand what we need to know about companies owning specific
portions of DNA sequences that exist in our own human bodies. The basis of genetic research and the
idea of owning a gene were brought to light over 150 years ago when the Supreme Court ruled that
you could not own human nature, but over time the advancement of scientific research and technology
made genetic research and its findings more accessible. Genetic researchers were able to find genes
that can help cure disease and could identify cancerous genes in humans. With companies being able
to find these genes, they wanted to have chance to make money off of them; from tests for being
applicable to cancer, disease, or any other medical problem. This became an issue because of how
there are only few companies that you can go through for the test of that specific gene; they are a
monopoly. Since the late 1990 s, people have begun to protest the right to own a gene in a human
body and are wanting the companies to forfeit their rights of the ownership. This creates tensions
because of the abundant amount of money associated with the gene. This makes the company come
off as a negative aspect toward the next step in scientific discoveries. This study concludes that it is in
the best interest of humans to make companies that own genes go to the Supreme Court in order to
fight to protect ourselves against genetic monopolies, and to further develop scientific and
technological

Examples Of Existentialism In Taxi Driver
Travis Bickle is a Vietnam War veteran and now works as a taxi driver in New York. All through the
night, he goes on working alone in a metropolitan city, because he can t sleep at night.
Travis lives alone, without his family, any friend and lover, so he doesn t talk to anybody, but he spent
watching porn and thinking about himself. He seems to be alienated from others and the society, at the
same time he has already noticed his lonely situation. In Taxi Driver, Travis feels loneliness which
ruins him gradually and finally makes him almost kill himself.
A scriptwriter, Paul Schrader wrote the script of Taxi Driver in the early 1970s. In 1946, Schrader was

He often thinks about the society where he and others are, but now he withdrew in his world.
The second part, Apropos of the Wet Snow is the underground man s young age memories, when he

hand, he still wants communications with them. He has an ambivalent feeling, between his high self

Moral Education Essay
Moral education can be described as the guidance and teaching of good behaviour and values. It is
taught to young children in schools, providing them with a sense of politeness and lawfulness. The
critical objective of moral education is to instruct these human values in the students. When defining
moral education we are often inclined to two outwardly opposed perspectives: traditional character
education which is focused on the development of specific kinds of virtuous traits and habits
(Narvaez, 2006) and rational moral education which focuses on moral judgment and reasoning
regarding justice and fairness.
Moral decision making differs in men and women as outlined in the findings of theorists Kohlberg and
Gilligan. Kohlberg had shown that the average female attained a moral judgment rating of stage three
(good boy nice girl), while adolescent males ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Furthermore, there are Virgin companies, which were profitable, for instance Virgin Records, which
was sold with an aim of financing other ventures.
At the moment, the accounting system and financial structure guiding Virgin are disjointed. In fact, it
is overly complicated for one to interpret the financial position of the entire Branson s empire. There
are no consolidated accounts for the group, the holding companies and other subsidiaries. Evidently,
the financial system that the Virgin group has adopted is rather amorphous.
Attempts to track the financial results of the various Virgin companies are apparently the most
confusing aspect of the Branson s empire. Despite that fact, Branson insists that financing his business
investments takes place on a standalone basis even though analysts have previously pointed various
instances in which profits that the viable investments make are channeled to the ailing ones to revive
them even without standard accounting procedures followed. An example of this tendency relates to

Prison Gangs Essay
There are many different types of gangs around the world. Some gangs consist of Skinheads, Asians,
Latinos, African American and Caucasians. But there are some gangs that are mixed with different
ethnics.
Prison gangs are criminal associations that started inside the punitive framework and they have kept
on operating inside remedial offices all through the United States. Prison gangs are likewise managing
toward one criminal element that can precede with their operations outside the restrictions the
reformatory framework. Commonly, a prison gang comprises of a select gathering on detainees who
have a sorted out progressive system and who are represented by a secured set of principles. Gangs
fluctuate in both association and organization from very organized groups. Prison gangs keep on
carrying out criminal movement, enroll new parts in urban, suburban, and provincial areas over the
United States, and create criminal affiliations that extend their impact over criminal undertakings,
especially road level drug deals. The most eminent patterns for 2011 have been the general increment
in gang enrollment, and the extension of criminal street gangs control of road level drug deals and
coordinated effort with adversary groups and other criminal associations.
An alternate impact of prison gangs is a feeling of fitting in with a family unit. Prisoners get a feeling
of character and distinguish from being in a gang. It separates them from their companions and

Southern Ocean Climate Change Research Paper
A Blow Against Climate Change
The Southern Ocean is the world s most effective basin of carbon dioxide absorption, and it has been
recently showing a new vivaciousness to this ability.
Southern Ocean: A Natural CO2 Vacuum
The world s oceans absorb around a quarter of emissions caused by human activities; the burning of
fossil fuels, for example. This reduces the speed of climate change, and about 40% of this absorption
happens in the Southern Ocean, which surrounds the Antarctic. Carbon dioxide gets soaked in from
the air and is then released by the Ocean every year, but with a net uptake. It is the planet s strongest
ocean carbon sink. Earlier studies had suggested that the rising emissions caused by humans had
caused over saturation at the Southern Ocean during the 1980s, and researchers estimated that the
efficiency of this body of water to absorb ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Southern Ocean is much more variable than initially thought, However, research cannot conclude
that this will continue forever, and that despite this remarkable increase in the Southern Ocean carbon
sink, emissions have gone up even further. He adds that previous research had been largely dependent
on models rather than observation, and that may have drawn inaccurate conclusions as to the rise and
decline of the Southern Ocean s carbon sink function. There is also debate on whether the acidity of
the waters with its increased carbon dioxide uptake may affect sea creatures, such as limiting the
ability of crabs, lobsters and mussels to grow their protective shells, making them vulnerable to
predators, but the new study suggests that since the acidity is plunged into the deep ocean after getting
sucked in, there is little risk of spread out harm to

Essay On Types Of Robots
4. Types Of Robots
Robotics is a very wide and broad area, as it comprises of different fields and has been adapted by
many professional bodies including defense, medicine, agriculture, automobile, aeronautics, etc. This
is why there are no specific types of robots. Hence, we cannot categorically say these are the types of
robots because types of robots are measured in terms of their use, functions, environment and location
system they possess [14, 17, 34]. Thus, here are the basic types of robots viz: Stationary robots,
wheeled robots, legged robots, Vehicle robots, Cloud robots, and Nano robots.
A. Stationary Robots
These are types of robots which are considered static, meaning they do not move or change position
during operation. Some of them include surgical robots which are often found in hospitals. Another

Wheeled Robots
These types of robots are said to be locomotive in nature. They change their position with the help of
wheels, which make it easier for them to move from one place to another. Some of their examples
include single wheel robots, two wheel, and military robots and so on.
C. Legged robots
These robots are considered the most complex and sophisticated when it comes to locomotion. They
are also known as mobile robots as they can move from place to place on a very quick speed. They are
often characterized by having legs and arms which support their movement or allow them to get up
when they fall down. The most common legged robots in this category are the popular humanoid
robots, military robots, and domestic or household robots [34].
D. Vehicle Robots
This category of robot is considered as one of the largest of all, they include those robots which cover
far distance. They have such locomotive components that could endure any kind of environment, be it
rocky areas, deserts, water or even space. Example of these robots include
Space robots ones used in the space by NASA

How Did Henry Ford Change The World Of Business
In the 20th century, Henry Ford helped change the world of businesses by implementing the system of
mass production. Fordism s idea is to pay workers a higher price so that they are motivated to work
and produce products cheaply for consumers so that consumers buy his products and become loyal
customers. Ford believed that high corporate profits could be achieved through paying worker s higher
wages. Fordism was an economic model based on both mass production and mass consumption.
There were two interrelated aspects of Ford s idea: first, the assembly line system and second, the
announcement and implication of a $5 minimum wage for workers.
Aspects of Fordism include craft production to mass production. This is the basis for the market

Jane Addams and the Progressive Movement

Jane Addams is recognized as a social and political pioneer for women in America. In her biography,
which later revealed her experiences in Hull House, she demonstrates her altruistic personality, which
nurtured the poor and pushed for social reforms. Although many of Addams ideas were considered
radical for her time, she provided women with a socially acceptable way to participate in both political

More and more women were becoming teachers during this period, and it was continuously being
associated as a female entity. Women were allowed to engage in certain social affairs. Although this
did not include fighting for the reduction of labor hours or the elimination of child labor, it did
encompass helping the poor, which was the immediate motive behind establishing Hull House.
Reaching out to women who needed a place to stay, or workers who could not afford to live in the
crowded and unsanitary apartments that usually stuffed several families in one room, could find
shelter in Addam?s creation. However, Addams worked extended beyond the ?private sphere? in too
many areas to ignore. Her struggle led to many social and political reforms; she took a very radical
political stance for her time, breaking her association from the standard middle class women.
Hull House was unique in the sense that it held a position in both the public and private spheres of
society. Within the private sphere, women in the Addam?s settlement house ran the household, raised
children, taught about the necessity of morals, and preached about religion. In addition, Hull House
members offered assistance to their community, which later encompassed the realm of the private
sphere. Such actions included teaching, daycare, art galleries, and libraries. ??Hull House in the

Art-History Evaluation
For the past few weeks I have been sorting through the collection of postcards. I selected the ones that
had to with people on the street of India. I find it interesting that this collection has large potion of
people represented from lower classes. My curiosity also orientates around the way in which India
was being portrayed to the West. I am currently taking notes on what literally shown in each postcard
as well as a list of questions that I associate with them. The questions will be the base for what I
research for the postcards and the questions I can most readily answer or have explanations to will be
the basis of the exhibit. So far the majority of post cards shown Indian people who seem to be under
fed, dirty, and working. I believe three out of about fifty people were wearing shows. The most
disturbing photos are series of starving children, a line of women picking bugs out of each other hair
(looking extremely ape like), and stack of starved corpses. The stack of dead bodies and the line up of
naked starving children ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Art History the first step is always to identify what is exactly in each image which is what I have
done for every individual post card. From there I started asking questions, hopefully when I start my
research I will be able to find most of answers to those questions. The challenging part to this part of
the process is that it sometimes becomes redundant from post card to post card however, I believe it is
important that the composition of each be acknowledged. I Have found little details in some that I
might have missed otherwise, like a tool on piece of silk or a child hiding in the shadows. The most
enjoyable aspect of this work so far is being thorough, and knowing I am working to a larger end. I
hope by the end of this semester I will be an expert on these post

The Era Of America After The Antebellum Period
It is believed that the beginning of a task is often the most important as well as the most difficult,
because it consists of discovering the basis to success with a greater chance of failure. The
establishment of America after gaining independence from Great Britain relied heavily on the
foundations set during the antebellum period, which is often classified as the period of time before the
civil war. During such vital time in American history came a number of fundamental Supreme Court
cases. The outcome of various cases significantly shaped the future of America into the country we
know today. Perhaps some of the most important cases include Marbury v. Madison, Gibbons v.
Ogden, and Dred Scott v. Sandford. McCulloch v. Maryland is possibly the most prominent Supreme
Court case throughout the antebellum period that occurred in 1819, even though different
interpretations of the Necessary and Proper Clause have led to many controversies regarding its
meaning and the potential supreme authority of congress, this landmark case established that the
federal government has certain implied powers under the constitution. Primarily, individuals who
supported the National Bank argued that the bank was essential in regulating the money distributed by
state banks. However, many states wanted nothing concerning the National Bank in their precincts in
fear of state banks being rundown. Citizens that opposed claimed that Congress did not have the
power to establish a National Bank and

Thorny Lizard Research Paper
In today s time, it is not uncommon to see strange looking animals whether it be in a normal front yard
or the plains of Africa. Sometimes it is interesting to study these very different animalists and this is
by far one of the weirdest ones. The thorny devil lizard is one of the world s strangest lizards that is
not like the common green lizard. The Thorny Lizard is a unique animal that belongs in the kingdom
Animalia. It is apart of the phylum Chordata and the class reptilia, which contains snakes, turtles, and
other lizards. It is also a part of the order Squamata and the family Agamidae and finally, its genus is
Moloch. These lizards are not going to be found in a grassy backyard or on a fence but rather
somewhere much more secluded and very hot. These lizards are indigenous to Australia. It is here that
they live mostly in deserts or places with lots of loose sand or soil ( The Thorny Devil and Horned

carnivorous but only eat one animal, ants. Ants are tricky for the lizard to eat because they will attack

and efficiently. A sticky tongue is one adaptation ( Thorny Devil Lizard Prickly Desert Ant Eater n.d.).
It quickly shoots out the sticky tongue and laps up as many ants as it can get in one sitting. Another
feature it possesses is mandibular teeth. An ant s outer covering is made of chitin which makes
chewing hard, but with the lizard s teeth specialized for crushing the body, it makes it easier for quick
digestion. Along with the teeth, it has developed a bigger stomach which allows for the little nutrients
that ants provide to be gained as efficiently as possible ( Dancing with the Devil ,

The Critique Of The Film Casablanca
The three time Academy Award winning film Casablanca is a 1942 American romantic drama film
directed by Michael Curtiz a well known director for his wonderful production. The film finished with
a rating of 8.5/10 on IMDb, 97% on Rotten Tomatoes and 100% Metacritic. Dispite the film being
made up of uncertainty and drama, it was completed on August 3rd 1942 and released in the United
States on January 23rd 1943. Before naming the film Casablanca it was named Everybody comes to
Ricks which was an unproduced film by Murray Burnett and Joan Alison. On the way to New York in
1941, story editor Irene Diamond found the unproduced play and convinced producer Hal Wallis to

The first writers on the script were twin brothers who left the film for another opportunity in 1942 and
the other credited writer, Howard Koch was hired. He wrote around thirty to forty pages for the script
but as soon as the twin brothers returned, his work went to garbage and had the brothers re write the

the end of the production, the brothers earned $30, 416 and Koch earned $4, 200. After shooting at

friendship, made the ending of the film have a lot more sense. In spite of having many writers, one
writer describes the script as a wonderfully unified and consistent script. The film ran into some

vulgar language in the film. When they came across any sexual scenes or vulgar words, they would

The Effects Of Nitrogen On The Dairy Industry
Nitrogen is one of the main biogeochemical elements, around which a cycle supports life on Earth.
Nitrogen can be found in many forms, one of which is nitrite, a toxic chemical that can produce severe
abnormalities in animals (Binta and Mushi, 2012). Nitrite is formed from nitrate by micro organisms
and bacteria present in soil, water, saliva, and the large intestine of most animals. These micro
organisms are present in high amounts in ruminants such as cows, which poses serious implications on
the dairy industry as nitrite poisoning, if nitrate levels are not closely monitored, can lead to the death
of large numbers of livestock as well as birth defects in calves. In ruminants, nitrate is reduced to
nitrite, and the rumen microbes utilize this nitrite by converting it into ammonia as a nitrogenous
source important in DNA production and synthesis of amino acids (Robson, 2007). Though, when
levels of nitrogen rise in excess, nitrite accumulates in rumen, and is then rapidly absorbed into the
bloodstream, then reacting with the ferrous form of haemoglobin to form met haemoglobin (met Hb)
(Sidhu et al., 2011). This is a serious issue as met Hb is a poor transporter of oxygen and the animal
suffers from oxygen deficiency. Nitrite poisoning has become more common over the past century as
application of nitrogen fertilizer to farmland improves both quality and yield of milk produced by
cattle (Sidhu et al., 2011). Nitrogen increases the levels of crude protein in forage, which

Who Is The Giver Intelligent
People all over the world wish for a peaceful society, and while there is nothing wrong with this, be
careful what you wish for. A perfect society is highly unattainable and Lois Lowry s novel The Giver
depicts that. In the novel, the protagonist, Jonas, lives in a community of sameness where people do
not know what emotions are and cannot comprehend a life of vibrance, but he tries to change that.
Jonas has a very dynamic portrayal due to specific events and minor charaters.
In the beginning he is very obedient and intelligent. he rarely gets in trouble and was only chatised
twice in his life. Once for taking an apple home and another time for joking about release. He believes
in his community and follows all rules without question or concern. One can infer that Jonas is
intelligent because he is very careful about his word choice. He often corrects his friend Asher s
precision of language, and when he is anxious about the upcoming Ceremony of Twelve he uses the
word apprehesive rather than frightened. At the Ceremony, the Cheif Elder comments on Jonas s
intelligence when explaining why Jonas was selected to be the new Receiver of Memory. ... Show

the family that Gabe, a newborn living with them, is scheduled for release. This is the last force that

Landslides are among the most common natural hazards and are the most damaging, leading to a

The Importance Of Online Shopping
Downsizing, bankruptcy, and closure are words plaguing the retail industry. Large retail chains are
being forced out of business because of the newfound popularity of online shopping. Jack Snyder has
a first hand relationship with these words. As an electronics sales manager for Sears in a small town
mall, Jack was forced out of his job when his store closed. After many successful years with the
company, it came as a shock to him to not only lose his store and job but to not be offered something
else within the company. Although he isn t a real person, Jack s situation has become increasingly
prevalent across the world in the last several years to actual retail workers. Due to their popularity,
online shopping giants will lead to the demise of traditional retail stores and ultimately cause an
economic disaster.
The problem started becoming increasingly important when online retailers like Amazon made their
way into the lives of many consumers. As more people became proficient with technology and the
internet, the popularity of online shopping increased. Online shopping giants like Amazon and eBay
are destroying the economy by enticing shoppers to spend their money online, rather than at an actual
retail store. The problem has deep roots in people s desire to be informed before making purchases. As
seen in the article, Bricks or Clicks, 44 percent of consumers do some type of research about a product
before purchasing it in a store (Sunil, 2013). Much of this

A Doll House Symbols
Symbols Motifs In A Doll s House In the play, A Doll s House, the author, Henrik Ibsen, uses many
symbols and motifs to illustrate his ideas of society s rules, and the roles of men and women in
society. One of these symbols is the use of a doll house in the play. The setting of this play took place
mainly in the Helmer household. Torvald and Nora s house is used to symbolize control and
suppression of people by others. This symbol connects with many characters, their situations, and also
helped me determine the theme of the play. First of all, the symbol of a doll house being used as the
title of the play is very symbolic as it reflected the play itself. This symbol related to many characters
as the characters in the play were either ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ibsen is trying to illustrate to the reader that the symbol of a doll house is used to point out that society
is ultimately controlling all of the characters in the play through social expectations, and what is
deemed the norm in society. Torvald is trapped by the expectations that society has for men, and Nora
is trapped by others trying to control her. Nora decided in the final act that she was going to leave her
husband and her children, even though she knows it goes against everything that society deems
acceptable for mothers and women (and against what she instinctively knows to be right for her
children). Nora symbolizes the change for the traditional roles for women, as well as the higher role
that women will have in society. One of the themes that I discovered in this play is that, One should
follow what he or she believes is right, and to not follow what everyone else is doing, if it goes against
what he or she believes in. This theme relates to the control that society has over others, in addition, to
how people should follow their aspirations and desires, and not be trapped by limitations or

Growing Up In a Dysfunctional Family
When some people look back on their childhood they see happy times full of family memories,
traditions, love, and encouragement. When I look back on my childhood I remember drug abuse,
visiting my step father in jail, going without utilities, and playing the role of a mother at the age of
eight. I knew I was different from other children. I knew that my parents depended on me to play the
role of an adult. They depended on me to get up every morning and get my brother and sister on the
school bus. I knew they depended on me to go straight home from school every day so I could babysit.

Since the family s survival is dependent on the enabler, they may pay the cost of stress related
illnesses, never having his or her own needs met, and be a sufferer for the cause of the family.
Ironically, because the enabler permits the dependent s behavior, they are also preventing the
corrective experience that crisis brings, which may be the only thing that stops the dependents
downward spiral. The hero is usually the oldest child. They are also named as the good child or the
caretaker . The hero takes on the role of a parent and feels responsible for the emotional health of the
family. The hero is characteristically an over achiever and over responsible. The family looks at the
hero s as a source of humility and honor, and it makes the family feel as if they are doing well. The
hero may do well in school and be good at sports and obtain good employment while inside the hero
suffers from feelings of insufficiency, failure, or guiltiness. These feelings derive from thoughts that
no matter how well the hero does, it will not heal the wounds of their family. The hero s obsessive
drive to accomplish something may lead to stress related illness as well as compulsive over working.
Since the hero tries so hard to do well, he or she often obtains a great deal of positive attention.
However, inwardly, the hero feels empty and unable to express their true feelings. The second

Analysis Of Dancer By Alden Nowlan
Frequently in life, human beings go through obstacles that shape and reform who they are. Achieving
satisfaction in life is the way individuals evaluate their personal lives, directions and the decisions
they make in the future. Through the decisions that are made, individuals are altered and reformed.
While our decisions and situations take an effect they are rather led by a purpose. Oftentimes,
limitations and existence of self sacrifice are built on the ideas of self control and altruism. Self
sacrifice is known as the giving up of one s own interests or wishes in order to help others or to
advance a cause, which is shown excessively through the poem; Dancer, by Alden Nowlan. The poem
showcases to the readers that sometimes, limitations should be placed on altruistic movements for the
well being of an individual. Although, the question still remains; to what extent is an individual
willing to go when facing these situations?
Dancer by Alden Nowlan, is a poem that is constricted, but free. The poem creates a scenario of a
sport, which once delved in, is deconstructed on a deeper understanding. The poem is built through the
surroundings that are interpreted in the poem. The verbs of the stanzas provide the different levels of
emotions that the girl goes through. The poem begins at a rest the dusk of a new day, the start of a new
game. In the second stanza, the poem exceedingly warms up as the words pauses, then rears, and
throws are chosen; but in return,

John Bowlby And Ainsworth s Strange Situation Experiment
John Bowlby and Mary Ainsworth worked together to create a theory about how a child becomes
attached to their parents or caregivers. The theory explains how relationships are formed for comfort
and security. According to Bowlby and Ainsworth s Strange Situation Experiment, there are three
types of attachment. There are secure, avoidant, and ambivalent, and all of their characteristics are
different. A secure child means he or she is attached to their caregiver. They cry when they are away
from the caregiver, but become calm when they are comforted by them. A child who is avoidant does
not seem to care if their caregiver is in their presence or not. An ambivalent child is when he or she
cries when their caregiver is gone, but also cries when ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When there is an absence of a sensation, Gestalt believes our brains fill in whatever is missing by
using those experiences. As the child was being observed, she climbed off the couch twice. Both times
she held on to the lining of the couch with both hands, used right leg to help support her, and the left
foot to find the floor. Although the floor was not that far from where she was hanging on the couch,
she still began to swing her left foot back and forth and lowered her self slowly until she found a safe
spot to let go. Because she believed the floor was farther from what she could see, she used her depth
perception to find the floor to clear herself to walk. (Cronin Mandich, 2016).
In addition to the sensory perceptual function theory and the Bowlby and Ainsworth s attachment
theory, the child also showed behaviors that fit into Gesell s theory of development. Arnold Gesell s
theory mainly focused on the direction of development. These developmental milestones include
cephalocaudal, which means head to toe, proximal to distal which means closer to farther from you,
Medial to lateral, which means in to out, and up against gravity meaning being able to get up, like
from crawling to walking. (Cronin Mandich,

Dehydration
Water makes up more than half of the human body and is required for our cell systems to properly
perform their necessary functions. Dehydration occurs when more water is lost than what is being
taken in. Making sure we have the proper amount of fluids in our cells is vital to ensuring our bodies
are able to properly perform their essentially necessary functions. Water acts like a cleanser, helping
with the removal of harmful waste and possible deadly toxins. Our blood, which is made primarily of
water, is responsible for carrying many nutrients to nearby waiting cells. Our immune system, which
contains a fluid called lymph, is also made of water. If our immune system is affected by dehydration,
it stops working properly and our body ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Our bodies can obtain water from most foods or liquids we consume, but pure water is best. Alcohol is
known to affect the levels of hydration within human cells through its diuretic effects. The more
alcohol an individual consumes, the more water is removed from the body through the individuals
frequent need to urinate. Caffeine is also a known diuretic, but its effects on hydration levels are
believed to be minimal.
The symptoms of dehydration vary from person to person, with factors such as age and weight playing
a role in how a person responds to the effects dehydration on their individual body. Adults will
respond differently to the symptoms of dehydration than children will. When children and infants
become sick they may suffer from vomiting, diarrhea, or increased urination, therefore their bodies
require their electrolyte levels be restored in an attempt to prevent the effects of dehydration. Drinks
such as Pedialyte are infused with sodium and potassium, much like many sports drinks are higher in
electrolytes than pure water. The major difference between electrolyte juices such as Pedialyte and
sports drinks are pediatric juices are generally not loaded with additional sugars.
Preventing the effects of dehydration during hot weather requires an individual to increase their intake
of fluids. Moderate to heavy exercise can

California has the most unsheltered homeless population as well. The prevalence of being homeless is
1 in every 332 people. Riverside county, located in southern California, reported that there 2,165
homeless. Of those 2,165, only 841 were considered shelter while on the other hand 1,352 were
unsheltered. They ran the same test for 2017 and the numbers increased. 2,413 are now accounted
with the number of sheltered decreased to 775 and unsheltered increased to 1,638. (County of
Riverside, 2017)
There are numerous underlying problems as to why people experience homelessness. There is a lot of
misconception of why or how people become homeless. Most people assume that others are homeless
because they cannot maintain a steady line of work. However, 25% of homeless are employed. They
are low end jobs with little pay.
Housing. The scarceness of affordable housing is the ultimate source of people being homeless. For
renters to be able to meet the expense of a two bedroom apartment, they would have to make twice the
national minimum wage. (National Coalition for the Homeless, n.d.)
Employment and Income. Underemployment and low wages are not sufficient to meet even the
minimum requirements for the cost of living and is another cause of homeless. This issue burdens
millions of people whether they are homeless or not. (National Coalition for the Homeless, n.d.)

  • 2. Analysis Of Ronald Harry Coase s The Marginal Cost... Ronald Harry Coase, an Emeritus Professor of Economics at the University of Chicago Law School. Dr. Couse was awarded a Nobel Prize in Economics in 1991 for his work in the field of the Theory of Market Institutions contributing to the line between economics, law and organization. The foundations of Couse s beliefs were that serious economists should not study theoretical markets and instead should concentrate all their efforts on real world markets. Dr. Coase is best known for two well established articles The Nature of the Firm (1937) and The Problem of Social Cost (1960). The book itself if a collection of these two critically acclaimed articles and three additional articles; The Marginal Cost Controversy (1946), Industrial ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Coase s main points brought together in his introduction and additional notes, but drawn from his scholarly articles begin with the concept that the choice between how a firm is organized and how the market is organized is varied and will continue to be varied, but not because of changes in technology. Instead, both individual firms and the market as a whole are organized so that each attempts to minimize or economize inherent transaction costs. Coase goes on to explain that the study of these tangible and material transaction costs is actually a study of opportunity cost. Charlie Munger, Warren Buffet s less media attention grabbing partner, explains opportunity costs very succinctly and points a finger in the eye of economic professors; Everything is based on opportunity costs. Academia has done a terrible disservice: they teach in one sentence in first year economics about opportunity costs, but that s it. In life, if opportunity A is better than B, and you have only one opportunity, you do A. This is Coase s point, that firms and the market deal with the information at hand and make decisions in a world of scarce resources. Given a choice between A and B, then the one with the maximized value will be logically chosen every time. If in the real world study of a firm or market that the logical choice wasn t chosen, then the economist has not values all the tangible benefits and costs that were weighed by decision makers, ... • 3. Otoacoustic Emission Study College Music Majors and Non Music Majors: Hearing Thresholds and Distortion Product Otoacoustic Emission Results Introduction Studies have shown that noise induced hearing loss (NIHL) can be caused by repeated loud exposures to music (Miller, Stewart, Lehman 2007; Phillips, Henrich, Mace 2010). Miller et al. (2007) found that university student musicians are a high risk population for hearing loss. In 2010, Phillips et al. found that of 329 student musicians, 45% had a NIHL. This study will focus on the differences in hearing thresholds and Distortion Product Otoacoustic Emission results (DPOAEs) between college music majors and non music majors. This will help determine if steps and precautions need to be taken to avoid NIHL in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Su Hyun et al. (2013) included giving information to the marching band members about the use of hearing protection devices but over 50 percent of students reported not using the ear plugs during rehearsals. Schmidt et al. (2014) included that hearing protection devices are a good idea, but did not include whether or not this information was given to the participants. As a result of Phillips et al. (2010), the university implemented a hearing conservation program. Jansen et. al (2009) also incorporated information about giving musicians access to learning about the risks of noise exposure. These studies have all concluded that continuing education about the risks of noise, use of hearing protection devices, and the repercussions of hearing loss is important for musicians and should be implemented in music programs. Rationale Halevi Katz et al. (2015), Phillips et al. (2010), and Schmidt et al. (2014) have linked hearing loss to musicians. Miller et al. (2007) and McBride et al. (1992) have shown that musicians are an at risk population for hearing loss. Further research should be done to further develop if student musicians are only an at risk population for hearing loss or are experiencing some form of hearing loss when in comparison to their non music major related peers. This will help prove that hearing conservation programs are needed on college campuses ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Who Is Clarence Darrow A Villain Clarence Darrow is a person many people would consider a very important figure in our history, but whether he is considered a hero or a villain depends more on a person s point of view. There are many facts that Darrow can be considered as a villain because of his personal beliefs than from his actions. Darrow was born in Farmdale, Ohio on April 18, 1857. Darrow began teaching at a country school in the Kinsman area for three years, but he also managed to save some time to study law. He studied at the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor and he enrolled in the law department at which he attends for one year of classes. Clarence worked in a law office located in Youngstown, Ohio. In 1879, Darrow is admitted to the bar and starts a law practice in Youngstown. Darrow went from defending the Railroad owners to working for the American Railway Union (ARU). Eugene V. Debs had been charged with conspiracy to commit an unlawful act, that is to block the progress of the United States mails . Darrow took Debs as his case because of his great desire to defend the people he felt had no chance of getting justice. Clarence Darrow and Eugene V. Debs fought for American workers rights during the nineteenth and twentieth century. The rights they defended were for the eight hour work day, child labor laws, and workplace ... • 6. College Is A Time For Young Men And Women College is a time for young men and women to achieve a higher education in order to grasp their dreams and hopes for their lives. While on this endeavor, pressures in all forms, shapes, and sizes attack us nearly every day. As a college student the fear and lack of money show their ugly head all the time. Learning to budget money, deciding what is important to spend limited funds on, and the ever present repayment of college loans puts stress on students. But the pressure that weighs the most on my mind is the health of my family members. Letting these fear, distract your attention and focus can lead to a place of depression and anxiety I would personally know because it has affected me only six weeks into college. Money is without a doubt the root of any and all evil. Money makes people do crazy things to obtain it. It is very much like a drug that affects everyone on the planet, because of the allure of power that comes with it. But in my circumstance money concerns me in the form of college payments. The constant thought of what if attacks me on a day to day basis; what if I don t have enough money to eat today, what if my scholarship falls through. But college is a ride that I willing signed up for and I am more than determined to see it until the end. I feel that if I fail in college all of my hard work and all of my dreams, and my mother s dreams will be for nothing. • 7. Multiple Characters In Anna Karenina By Lev Tolstoy In Anna Karenina, Lev Tolstoy describes multiple characters in depth and gives the readers the opportunity to create and change their opinions about most of them as the plot develops. The novel begins with a rather striking quote, taken from Romans 12:19: Vengeance is mine, I will repay (Tolstoy XXV). This sentence s meaning in it s biblical context and full length, is that it is not up to people to punish others for their wrong doings, but that God will eventually take revenge and repay them, for it is his right and duty to do so. Focusing on the meaning of this excerpt, I believe that it is connected to the outcomes of Anna and Vronsky s affair, but also to that of the life of Dolly Oblonskaya and her husband, as well as other characters . In this paper I will support my interpretation of the reasons why I believe that despite the fact that Anna Karenina appears to suffer the consequences of her love affair with Alexei Vronsky because she is a woman more than her brother Stepan Oblonsky, the faith that the author assigns to her with allusions since the beginning of the book, is connected to the fact that cheating is fundamentally wrong according to Tolstoy s perspective, and that her punishment is a consequence of the above mentioned quotation. To sustain my understanding of this theme I will make a comparison between Anna and some of the other main characters who are involved in a romantic relationship or, as in Dolly s case, stuck in an unhappy marriage. One of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Genetic Research And Its Effects On The Human Bodies Abstract This study helps us to understand what we need to know about companies owning specific portions of DNA sequences that exist in our own human bodies. The basis of genetic research and the idea of owning a gene were brought to light over 150 years ago when the Supreme Court ruled that you could not own human nature, but over time the advancement of scientific research and technology made genetic research and its findings more accessible. Genetic researchers were able to find genes that can help cure disease and could identify cancerous genes in humans. With companies being able to find these genes, they wanted to have chance to make money off of them; from tests for being applicable to cancer, disease, or any other medical problem. This became an issue because of how there are only few companies that you can go through for the test of that specific gene; they are a monopoly. Since the late 1990 s, people have begun to protest the right to own a gene in a human body and are wanting the companies to forfeit their rights of the ownership. This creates tensions because of the abundant amount of money associated with the gene. This makes the company come off as a negative aspect toward the next step in scientific discoveries. This study concludes that it is in the best interest of humans to make companies that own genes go to the Supreme Court in order to fight to protect ourselves against genetic monopolies, and to further develop scientific and technological ... It is taught to young children in schools, providing them with a sense of politeness and lawfulness. The critical objective of moral education is to instruct these human values in the students. When defining moral education we are often inclined to two outwardly opposed perspectives: traditional character education which is focused on the development of specific kinds of virtuous traits and habits (Narvaez, 2006) and rational moral education which focuses on moral judgment and reasoning regarding justice and fairness. Moral decision making differs in men and women as outlined in the findings of theorists Kohlberg and Gilligan. Southern Ocean Climate Change Research Paper A Blow Against Climate Change The Southern Ocean is the world s most effective basin of carbon dioxide absorption, and it has been recently showing a new vivaciousness to this ability. Southern Ocean: A Natural CO2 Vacuum The world s oceans absorb around a quarter of emissions caused by human activities; the burning of fossil fuels, for example. This reduces the speed of climate change, and about 40% of this absorption happens in the Southern Ocean, which surrounds the Antarctic. Carbon dioxide gets soaked in from the air and is then released by the Ocean every year, but with a net uptake. It is the planet s strongest ocean carbon sink. Earlier studies had suggested that the rising emissions caused by humans had caused over saturation at the Southern Ocean during the 1980s, and researchers estimated that the efficiency of this body of water to absorb ... • 27. The Effects Of Nitrogen On The Dairy Industry Nitrogen is one of the main biogeochemical elements, around which a cycle supports life on Earth. Nitrogen can be found in many forms, one of which is nitrite, a toxic chemical that can produce severe abnormalities in animals (Binta and Mushi, 2012). Nitrite is formed from nitrate by micro organisms and bacteria present in soil, water, saliva, and the large intestine of most animals. These micro organisms are present in high amounts in ruminants such as cows, which poses serious implications on the dairy industry as nitrite poisoning, if nitrate levels are not closely monitored, can lead to the death of large numbers of livestock as well as birth defects in calves. In ruminants, nitrate is reduced to nitrite, and the rumen microbes utilize this nitrite by converting it into ammonia as a nitrogenous source important in DNA production and synthesis of amino acids (Robson, 2007). Though, when levels of nitrogen rise in excess, nitrite accumulates in rumen, and is then rapidly absorbed into the bloodstream, then reacting with the ferrous form of haemoglobin to form met haemoglobin (met Hb) (Sidhu et al., 2011). This is a serious issue as met Hb is a poor transporter of oxygen and the animal suffers from oxygen deficiency. Nitrite poisoning has become more common over the past century as application of nitrogen fertilizer to farmland improves both quality and yield of milk produced by cattle (Sidhu et al., 2011). Large retail chains are being forced out of business because of the newfound popularity of online shopping. Jack Snyder has a first hand relationship with these words. As an electronics sales manager for Sears in a small town mall, Jack was forced out of his job when his store closed. After many successful years with the company, it came as a shock to him to not only lose his store and job but to not be offered something else within the company. Although he isn t a real person, Jack s situation has become increasingly prevalent across the world in the last several years to actual retail workers. Due to their popularity, online shopping giants will lead to the demise of traditional retail stores and ultimately cause an economic disaster. The problem started becoming increasingly important when online retailers like Amazon made their way into the lives of many consumers. As more people became proficient with technology and the internet, the popularity of online shopping increased. Online shopping giants like Amazon and eBay are destroying the economy by enticing shoppers to spend their money online, rather than at an actual retail store. The problem has deep roots in people s desire to be informed before making purchases. As seen in the article, Bricks or Clicks, 44 percent of consumers do some type of research about a product before purchasing it in a store (Sunil, 2013). Much of this ... • 31. A Doll House Symbols Symbols Motifs In A Doll s House In the play, A Doll s House, the author, Henrik Ibsen, uses many symbols and motifs to illustrate his ideas of society s rules, and the roles of men and women in society. One of these symbols is the use of a doll house in the play. The setting of this play took place mainly in the Helmer household. Torvald and Nora s house is used to symbolize control and suppression of people by others. This symbol connects with many characters, their situations, and also helped me determine the theme of the play. First of all, the symbol of a doll house being used as the title of the play is very symbolic as it reflected the play itself. This symbol related to many characters as the characters in the play were either ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ibsen is trying to illustrate to the reader that the symbol of a doll house is used to point out that society is ultimately controlling all of the characters in the play through social expectations, and what is deemed the norm in society. Torvald is trapped by the expectations that society has for men, and Nora is trapped by others trying to control her. Nora decided in the final act that she was going to leave her husband and her children, even though she knows it goes against everything that society deems acceptable for mothers and women (and against what she instinctively knows to be right for her children). Nora symbolizes the change for the traditional roles for women, as well as the higher role that women will have in society. One of the themes that I discovered in this play is that, One should follow what he or she believes is right, and to not follow what everyone else is doing, if it goes against what he or she believes in. This theme relates to the control that society has over others, in addition, to how people should follow their aspirations and desires, and not be trapped by limitations or ... Effects of Growing Up in a Dysfunctional Family | Growing Up In A Dysfunctional Family| Developmental Psychology| | Denise King| 4/18/2011| | Growing Up In a Dysfunctional Family When some people look back on their childhood they see happy times full of family memories, traditions, love, and encouragement. When I look back on my childhood I remember drug abuse, visiting my step father in jail, going without utilities, and playing the role of a mother at the age of eight. I knew I was different from other children. I knew that my parents depended on me to play the role of an adult. They depended on me to get up every morning and get my brother and sister on the school bus. I knew they depended on me to go straight home from school every day so I could babysit. I would wake my mom ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since the family s survival is dependent on the enabler, they may pay the cost of stress related illnesses, never having his or her own needs met, and be a sufferer for the cause of the family. Ironically, because the enabler permits the dependent s behavior, they are also preventing the corrective experience that crisis brings, which may be the only thing that stops the dependents downward spiral. The hero is usually the oldest child. They are also named as the good child or the caretaker . The hero takes on the role of a parent and feels responsible for the emotional health of the family. The hero is characteristically an over achiever and over responsible. The family looks at the hero s as a source of humility and honor, and it makes the family feel as if they are doing well. The hero may do well in school and be good at sports and obtain good employment while inside the hero suffers from feelings of insufficiency, failure, or guiltiness. These feelings derive from thoughts that no matter how well the hero does, it will not heal the wounds of their family. The hero s obsessive drive to accomplish something may lead to stress related illness as well as compulsive over working. Since the hero tries so hard to do well, he or she often obtains a great deal of positive attention. However, inwardly, the hero feels empty and unable to express their true feelings. The second ... • 33. Analysis Of Dancer By Alden Nowlan Frequently in life, human beings go through obstacles that shape and reform who they are. Achieving satisfaction in life is the way individuals evaluate their personal lives, directions and the decisions they make in the future. Through the decisions that are made, individuals are altered and reformed. While our decisions and situations take an effect they are rather led by a purpose. Oftentimes, limitations and existence of self sacrifice are built on the ideas of self control and altruism. Self sacrifice is known as the giving up of one s own interests or wishes in order to help others or to advance a cause, which is shown excessively through the poem; Dancer, by Alden Nowlan. The poem showcases to the readers that sometimes, limitations should be placed on altruistic movements for the well being of an individual. Although, the question still remains; to what extent is an individual willing to go when facing these situations? Dancer by Alden Nowlan, is a poem that is constricted, but free. The poem creates a scenario of a sport, which once delved in, is deconstructed on a deeper understanding. The poem is built through the surroundings that are interpreted in the poem. The verbs of the stanzas provide the different levels of emotions that the girl goes through. The poem begins at a rest the dusk of a new day, the start of a new game. In the second stanza, the poem exceedingly warms up as the words pauses, then rears, and throws are chosen; but in return, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. John Bowlby And Ainsworth s Strange Situation Experiment John Bowlby and Mary Ainsworth worked together to create a theory about how a child becomes attached to their parents or caregivers. The theory explains how relationships are formed for comfort and security. According to Bowlby and Ainsworth s Strange Situation Experiment, there are three types of attachment. There are secure, avoidant, and ambivalent, and all of their characteristics are different. A secure child means he or she is attached to their caregiver. They cry when they are away from the caregiver, but become calm when they are comforted by them. A child who is avoidant does not seem to care if their caregiver is in their presence or not. An ambivalent child is when he or she cries when their caregiver is gone, but also cries when ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When there is an absence of a sensation, Gestalt believes our brains fill in whatever is missing by using those experiences. As the child was being observed, she climbed off the couch twice. Both times she held on to the lining of the couch with both hands, used right leg to help support her, and the left foot to find the floor. Although the floor was not that far from where she was hanging on the couch, she still began to swing her left foot back and forth and lowered her self slowly until she found a safe spot to let go. Because she believed the floor was farther from what she could see, she used her depth perception to find the floor to clear herself to walk. (Cronin Mandich, 2016). In addition to the sensory perceptual function theory and the Bowlby and Ainsworth s attachment theory, the child also showed behaviors that fit into Gesell s theory of development. Arnold Gesell s theory mainly focused on the direction of development. These developmental milestones include cephalocaudal, which means head to toe, proximal to distal which means closer to farther from you, Medial to lateral, which means in to out, and up against gravity meaning being able to get up, like from crawling to walking. • 35. Dehydration Water makes up more than half of the human body and is required for our cell systems to properly perform their necessary functions. Dehydration occurs when more water is lost than what is being taken in. Making sure we have the proper amount of fluids in our cells is vital to ensuring our bodies are able to properly perform their essentially necessary functions. Water acts like a cleanser, helping with the removal of harmful waste and possible deadly toxins. Our blood, which is made primarily of water, is responsible for carrying many nutrients to nearby waiting cells. Our immune system, which contains a fluid called lymph, is also made of water. If our immune system is affected by dehydration, it stops working properly and our body ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Our bodies can obtain water from most foods or liquids we consume, but pure water is best. Alcohol is known to affect the levels of hydration within human cells through its diuretic effects. The more alcohol an individual consumes, the more water is removed from the body through the individuals frequent need to urinate. Caffeine is also a known diuretic, but its effects on hydration levels are believed to be minimal. The symptoms of dehydration vary from person to person, with factors such as age and weight playing a role in how a person responds to the effects dehydration on their individual body. Adults will respond differently to the symptoms of dehydration than children will. When children and infants become sick they may suffer from vomiting, diarrhea, or increased urination, therefore their bodies require their electrolyte levels be restored in an attempt to prevent the effects of dehydration. Drinks such as Pedialyte are infused with sodium and potassium, much like many sports drinks are higher in electrolytes than pure water. The major difference between electrolyte juices such as Pedialyte and sports drinks are pediatric juices are generally not loaded with additional sugars. Most people assume that others are homeless because they cannot maintain a steady line of work. However, 25% of homeless are employed. They are low end jobs with little pay. Housing. The scarceness of affordable housing is the ultimate source of people being homeless. For renters to be able to meet the expense of a two bedroom apartment, they would have to make twice the national minimum wage. (National Coalition for the Homeless, n.d.) Employment and Income.
