Bandit in the House
Kwan bumped into Tim at the top of the staircase. Kwan looked pale, while his breathe was rapid.
Kwan kept scanning over his shoulder. Tim spoke, Did you find them? Let s go, Kwan declared as he
begun taking the stairs. Boys, can I a moment with you, a determined Giselle spoke. Giselle s profile
came visible from the shadows of the hallway. Tim noticed Giselle s eyeliner was smudged. Giselle
never looked out of place. Did she cry? Where was Daniel? Had Daniel upset Giselle? It s kind of
boring here, so Tim and I are heading out, Kwan said. Tim was startled with Kwan s assertiveness as
he looked to Kwan. Without warning, the three of them heard a quarrel below them. They recognized
Ms Loren and Coach Russell s voices overlapping. The three begun downward and at the midway
landing, they saw Cara and Bryan with the other students behind their chaperones. It was an heated
exchange. Giselle observed two rifle carrying men blocking the group s exit from the Grand Foyer.
There was Ms. Loren, in her matronly manner readjusting her glasses, while Coach Russell trying to
resolve the situation. They continued. Giselle reached the last step, she asked, What s the problem? Ms
Loren said, These gentlemen here are asking us to pay an admission fee before we can leave the
Palace. I think they are bandits. Someone tell me how much do they want? Bryan declared. Cara just
shook her head, then she realized her diamond necklace gave off a sparkle. Worrisome, Cara

The Dictator Porfirio Diaz s Macbeth
The dictator Porfirio Diaz had many similar aspects towards the character made by Shakespeare called
MacBeth. Both of them had what they wanted which was power but both of them end up at their
subdue. Porfirio Diaz was a president of Mexico that lasted since 1876 to 1880 and from 1884 to
1911. He made himself a dictator of Mexico and ruled for many years. Until he got exile from
Mexico. That because of ambition he decided he wanted to become a dictator which he became for
many years. But because of this he got exile this was a failure made by the government.

MacBeth starts imagining things and little by little he starts being crazy. He starts talking to himself in
which in one of the times he talks to himself he says False face must hide what the false heart doth
know. (Act I, Scene 7) From here on now we knew that he would do something wrong. In which
someday this will make him do things that he will repent of. One of his biggest mistakes was killing
his best friend because of jealousy towards his kid. Which the prophecy said that he would be king.
This kill brings madness towards him which makes him weaker in power. Porfirio Diaz had also some
mistakes while being in power. He was really intelligent enough buy having an alliance with the rich
people. He used his power and money to maintain the people with more power happy. But he forgot
about the biggest percentage of the population in Mexico. He stayed in power through deft
manipulation of the powerful elements of Mexican society, giving each just enough of the pie to keep
them happy. Only the poor were excluded entirely. (ThoughtCo) Buy excluding the poor entirely he
would make them unhappy which would bring problems to his power. If they make their mistakes how

Child And Teen Beauty Pageants
It is not easy to be in the public s eye and constantly being watched can take a toll on a person.
Hundreds of child stars have grown up to be consumed with depression, eating disorders, drug and
alcohol addiction, and severe self esteem issues. So why would children that perform in child and teen
beauty pageants be any different? They are constantly being judged by their looks, their actions, their
poise and posture, their attitude and behaviors, the list goes on and on. That could severely affect the
way these children see themselves as they get older. When a child is constantly being watched and
criticized in every aspect, they develop a complex and a need to be perfect, when in fact perfection
does not exist. This is when their depression or drug addictions might seep in, when they realize they
can never live up to the standards that others have set on them. This is a very dangerous place to be,
and no child or teenager should have to suffer through such a time as this. Childhood should be full of
playing outside with friends, going to the pool or amusement park, visiting the beach or the mountains
with family. It shouldn t consist of maintaining perfection with all the fakeness day in and day out, or
there could be some very real consequences that might follow. Although there are massive amounts of
negatives that go along with child beauty pageants, there are also some positive aspects to them. Some
women have gained a great deal of success from entering into beauty

Organization development activities can be directed toward individuals, groups, divisions, or entire
organizations. Regardless of whether the recipient of an intervention is a person or a multi national
corporation, the ultimate goal is the same: to improve the effectiveness of the organization. This

In short, TQM programs require a change in the organizational philosophy and culture.
3. PURPOSE OF THE INTERVENTION:
The purpose of Total Quality Management is to increase customer satisfaction by improving the
quality of the goods or services offered by the organization. This improvement is centered on the
product or services, and the processes involved in making or delivering the product or service to the
customer. Ultimately the goal of TQM is to make quality the way of doing things within the
organization.
4. EFFECTIVENESS CRITERIA:
In all Total Quality Management programs the ultimate effectiveness criterion is customer satisfaction.
According to the research, to reach this ultimate goal of effectiveness requires that the organization
measure several other criteria on a continual basis (Weaver, 1991; Hackman Wageman, 1995;
Dahlgaard, 1999; Clark, 2000). The appropriate criteria to measure depends on the type of
organization, and whether they deliver a product or a service. In a production based organization, the
effectiveness criteria are divided into product measures and employee measures. The possible
measures for the product include: increases in production, increases in sales, increases in market share,
increases in stock prices, reductions in the product cycle time, reductions in the number of reworks,
reductions in the inventories, and reductions in customer returns. The employee measures include:
satisfaction with the company,

Darker Skin In Africa
Skin color has evolved rapidly since the beginning of humanity; in the beginning, everybody had light
skin and dark hair. As populations started to lose hair and their sun exposure increased, the African sun
threatened people s stores of folate, as sunlight destroys folate (which is needed for cell DNA
replication, especially important for a growing baby). Eventually, this created a preference for darker
skin in Africa, and became an important gene in the African gene pool. Darker skin, full of melanin,
absorbs less UVB rays, thus protecting a person against losing a lot of folic acid in their body as well
as protecting against sunburn. As populations moved North and the sun became less and less effective
in converting cholesterol into Vitamin

In the Code of Business Ethics and Conduct handbook, it states, We are committed to providing a safe

Little Brother Succeeds By Cory Doctorow
In all mediums of storytelling, storylines never follow a singular plots. Writers often attempt to shovel
in various subplots as a means of trying to captivate audiences who are not as interested by the main
story. These subplots often revolve around the main story in the sense that they coexist but do not
affect it. This entirely ruins the purpose of including subplots, as they should intertwine with and
almost become a part of the main plotline. This is where Cory Doctorow s novel Little Brother
succeeds. Throughout the novel, Doctorow focuses mainly on the story of Marcus Yallow, a high
schooler living in San Francisco with gifted abilities in hacking, and his friends as he fights the
manipulative government branch: The Department of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He writes Ange and Marcus characters so that together, they have a natural chemistry together in both
dialogue and actions. At one point, near the middle of the novel, Marcus and Ange go out on date to
one of Ange s favorite restaurants. The two decide to go to a burrito place. While there, Ange pulls out
a stainless steel canister and excessively sprays her burrito with it s contents. Marcus asks her what
she sprays her burrito with, to which she informs him that This is like pepper spray but slightly more
dilute. And way more delicious. Think of it as Spicy Cajun Visine if it helps (68). There is no other
passage in the novel that can exhibit Marcus and Ange s almost comedic chemistry together so
perfectly. Ange is, by heart, more of an eccentric. She enjoys going out of her way so that she may eat
spicy foods. She has an excessively liberal sense of mind and lives life how she sees fit. On the other
hand, Marcus has a much more conservative mentalities despite literally fighting against the
government. He openly voices his disgust to his date in a way that lets Ange know he feels appalled,
but still still likes her by asking What the hell are you doing to that poor, defenseless burrito? (68).
The two are an unlikely pair that is both entertaining and relatable to readers. The sincerity of their

Australian And Indonesian Relations Essay
Introduction Australian Indonesian relations are the foreign relations between the two countries,
whether economically, politically, legally or socially. Australian Indonesian relations involve an
interaction in foreign policies between the two nations (Wolfsohn, 1951, p. 68). As long as Indonesia
is Australia s closest and largest neighbor, they are bound to have great international relations. These
relations began as early as the 17th century and had only become enhanced with time (Daly, 2003, p.
397). The relationship has been defined by a conjoint growth trade of up to $14 between the years
2011 2012 which reports an increase from the previous economic year (Mark, 2012, p.402). These
countries are members of various trade deals such as the ASEAN Regional Forum in addition to
having close ties with education, defense, and leadership. Australia s relationship with Indonesia is
crucial, and lack of such could severely bruise the economy, and hence they need to keep united by
ensuring the use of widespread media with beneficial input. Australia interacts with Indonesia in a
way such as sporting activity, tourism, education, economic policies, youth exchange programs,
cultures and above all their diplomacy (Okamoto, 2010, p.241). Internal Scene in Indonesia Indonesia
is the largest country in South East Asia and the third most populous in the world. Indonesia s
geographic proximity to Australia makes its bilateral relationship with Australia an important one for

in the western region, tropical climatic conditions prevail. The South West monsoon season brings the
most amount of rainfall over the region with eastern part receiving vast amount of rainfall and
becomes progressively drier towards west. The plain consists of fertile Alluvium soil, brought by the
river floods, which sustain agricultural and industrial activities. Due to this reason, the IGP is highly
productive for the Indian Economy. It is also one of the densely populated regions of the world.
Because of intensive agricultural practices and industrialization, the region is severely prone to air,
water and land pollution. Especially, the air pollution, which has been increasing at alarming levels
during the last decade (Gautam et al., 2009). Degradation in air quality has severe impact on society in
terms of health, and environment in terms of climate change. The major sources of air pollution are
biomass burning due to agricultural practices, incomplete combustion of fuel owing to vehicular and

Menstruation History
During menstruation throughout history, the progression of menstrual products has subjugated women
to unimaginable methods. In ancient Egypt, women used softened papyrus tampons, while the Greeks
utilized lint wrapped around small pieces of wood, and the Romans wore pads and tampons made of
soft wool. Considered impure in the Jewish culture during biblical times, the proclivity of physically
separating women from men during menstruation is habitual, as well as any object they touched or sat
on. These fads were perpetuated in Europe in the 1800s. With a more natural approach, women during
this period allowed their menstruation to bleed into their clothing. Creatively, women used homemade
pads in America, during the 1900s, similar to baby diapers: Others wore menstrual pad belts secured
by suspenders. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The three major organic companies that sell natural menstrual products are GladRags, Natracare, and
Organic Essentials. On the go, these small companies offer disposable cotton pads and organic
tampons. While others may consider as taboo, reusable alternatives are made of Cloth, sponge or
menstrual cup; safer for the environment and the consumer. Many of these non commercialized
menstrual products do not contain dioxin or pesticides, unfortunately, they vary in price as well as
accessibility, from limited marketing and awareness. Ruminating the options by consumers, cultural
and economic factors play a role. For over a decade, commercialized products have conveniently been
available through the media and advertising. Even more important to note, natural feminine hygiene
products are available and considered a safer approach to menstruation. Preserving the health of the
female anatomy should be considered, for the benefit of future

The Annual Party Debt Collection Industry Is Notorious For...
MEMORANDUM
Issue Presented
The 3rd party debt collection industry is notorious for skirting the Federal Rules of Evidence and Civil
Procedure from the inception of a lawsuit to the granting of a judgment. Since both of these ideas do
not generally apply to small claims court, and most defendants of these lawsuits are not represented,
this industry has been allowed to run roughshod over the constitutional rights of defendants and clog
the small claims court system with cases that would be easily thrown out of higher courts.

What can our firm do to assist consumers in their defense of 3rd party debt collection lawsuits when it
is economically infeasible for our firm to represent them?

This transaction is usually done by simply selling a spreadsheet list that merely contains an account
number, the amount owed, the last name of the debtor and possibly an address and phone number. The
amount paid for this information by the junk debt buyer is many times $.03 $.10 on the dollar of the
charged off amount. The reasoning for the original creditor to charge off these account generally stems
from missing or incorrect records or just simply not being worth their time and money to act on for
collection.
The junk debt collector then takes these lists and researches what little information they have
purchased to form a file on who they think owes the debt. Many times the junk debt brokers break
down the information by geographic location and then resells the lists making the debt collector s job
easier. Through the selling and reselling of these debts, the chain of assignment/title is usually non
existent when the lawsuits are filed. Many times the statute of limitations has expired for legal action
to commence, the debtor had already been sued for the said debt, the wrong person is sued or the
debtor does not owe the amount claimed.
Since the Federal Rules of Evidence do not apply to small claims court, the junk debt collectors focus
on only those debts they can file for in small claims. This compounds

Ninhydrin Research Paper
Two of the most commonly used chemical enhancements for plain dry paper is Ninhydrin and 1,8
Diazafluoren 9 one (DFO) both of which can be used individually and together. When they are being
used together, DFO has to be carried out first. Both chemicals react with the amino acids in the latent
fingerprint.
To carry out DFO enhancement a lab oven must be set at 100°C with no humidity. The DFO is mixed
with methanol and acetic acid. The methanol is used as it allows DFO to form hemiketals which give a
higher reactivity with the amino acids in the print. Using longer chain alcohols doesn t give as high a
yield of fluoresces and development of the print. Acetic acid can be used to reduce the pH of the
solution making it acidic. If the solution ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is add to ensure the ninhydrin is soluble. Acetic acid and ethyl acetate are mixed with it to
produce a straw coloured solution. Ethyl acetate prevents esterification and moves equilibrium
towards acetic acid and ethanol, if esterification occurs the by product water will damage the ridges of
the print. Acetic acid is a catalyst which allows the formation of Ruhemann s purple. It has to be kept
at low concentrations as it could cause ink on the paper to run and therefore damage evidence.
To carry out Ninhydrin enhancement a humidity controlled oven must be set at 65% humidity and
80°c. The paper will either just be undergoing this process or just dried from DFO placed in the
ninhydrin solution for 5 seconds on either side and placed on a tray into the oven for 5 7 minutes. The
finger prints will develop producing a distinct purple colour known as Ruhemann s purple. When the
reaction is less intense a red/pink colour is produced. The finger prints are removed and pictures taken
of the paper containing the print with a scale and labelled. The prints can continue to develop for a
couple of weeks after initially being processed. Ninhydrin prints on their own can be further enhanced
using metal salts such as zinc chloride and cadmium salts. These fluoresces increasing the visibility
and detail of the print.

chance to escape from neediness comes as a $10,000 extra security watch that the female authority of

American Settlers Vs Indians
One colony should be particularly noticed, Pennsylvania, for how unusually good they were to the
indigenous population of America: William Penn openly admitted for the Indians the right to land
ownership.
While Penn led the colony, Pennsylvanians lived in peace with the indigenous population. Some
Indians, such as the Tuscarora and Shawnee, even resorted to Pennsylvania to settle conflicts with
other, more militant colonies. Penn believed that white settlers should pay compensation to the Indians
of their ancestral lands. His government regulated other relationships with Indian tribes, including
commercial. Unfortunately, when Penn left his post in the colony, an influx of European immigrants
practiced violent measures against indigenous inhabitants.

Modernism And The Cultural Logic Of Late Capitalism
In general, many of the most urgent theories of modernity, and by extension, the aesthetic revolution
of modernism, focus on the development of capitalism and its relation to cultural form. This strain of
economic criticism is especially valuable in grasping both the pains and promises of modernity.
Additionally, this strain is an attractive approach because it provides a grounded historical method of
periodization each stage of capitalism has a dominant mode of artistic production. Fredric Jameson, in
his highly influential Postmodernism, or the Cultural Logic of Late Capitalism (1991), uses three
stages of capitalism competitive, monopoly, and multinational to create his own corresponding
schema of cultural periodization realism, modernism, and postmodernism. However, in The Existence
of Italy (1992), Jameson relaxes these categories somewhat by positing the existence of shorter cycles
that follow the same trajectory of realism → modernism → postmodernism but occur outside the
standard periodization, which is directly linked to specific capitalist phases. Here, cycles is the best
description of this phenomenon because it reinforces their relationship to capitalism; Jameson bases
his logic of larger periodization on long cycles of economic development. However, this logic s
timeline is closely correlated to the core countries of capitalism, which has enabled their cultural form
to become the standard. Thus, I contend that the conjecture of shorter cycles can be utilized

Susan Cooper and Native Activism
In her book Spirited Encounters, Cooper mentioned during her young adult life and through her
museum career, she is interested in Native activism, especially protests that focused on museums (xv).
According to her, Native Americans were protesting the museums in hoping that museums would give
them back items that were once belong to them and their ancestors. For example, Native Americans
request to get back Alcatraz Island from the government was denied even though it was supposed to
be theirs from the beginning (8). Protesters also seek to correct the false information regarding Native
Americans life that was being display at the museums (information assumed correct for years).
Furthermore, museums seemed to be ignoring the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To Native Americans, some of the objects were created by their makers with the intent that the objects
would disintegrate naturally, so it is wrong to try to preserve those objects (67). Moreover, Native
Americans think that if the objects were to be return to them, then it is not right for museums to tell
them how to take care of the objects (72). A successful protest, for example, is the protest against
exhibits that were being set up in celebration of Columbus Quincentenary. While Columbus is view as
hero in many American s eyes, he left Native Americans with a painful memory of enslaving and the
bad treatment from the Colonists. In protesting to stop the celebration, protestors also hoped to re
educate the public about Columbus arrival in the Natives point of view (109 113). Due to these
protests, many exhibitions were canceled. The exhibition, Seed of Change at the National Museum of
Natural History tried to avoid the discussion of Columbus by focusing on things rather than people
(117). 3. NAGPRA specifies that American Indians can regain their materials from institution that
receives federal funds as long as they can provide proofs that those items were taken from them
without their approval (63). This law requires that federally funded institutions must inventory their
collections and send reports of the inventories to the tribal groups (63). When a tribe recognizes an

Battle Of Saratoga
The Battles of Saratoga The Battles of Saratoga was the turning point of the Revolutionary War. The
victory is made clear by a few things: On October 17, 1777, about 6,000 British and Hessian troops
surrendered. General John Burgoyne had lost about 90 percent of his force that had victoriously
marched into New York from Canada during summer in 1777. The divide and conquer strategy that
Burgoyne presented to British ministers in London was to invade America from Canada by traveling
down the Hudson Valley to Albany. There, he would be joined by other British troops under the
command of Sir William Howe. Howe would be bringing his troops north from New Jersey and New
York City. Burgoyne believed that this bold stroke would not only isolate New ... Show more content

The Continual Rise Of Online Bingo
Blog 14 The continual rise of online bingo
If I asked you to think about what image summarises bingo, odds are you would immediately think of
the smoke filled bingo halls of the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s. For going on 50 years bingo was a game
housed locally and operated on a low level within small communities. But as time ticked on, the game
would evolve, especially when the invention known as the Internet would come into play.
Transforming this once community housed game into a true global event, online bingo now dominates
the web as far as gambling is concerned. Before you sit down to dab on a digital ticket or claim a no
deposit bingo offer, it is worth taking a look back at what has brought the game this far. The following

However, as time would pass the young and fresh image it once had would fade. It seemed that as new
and exciting casino games were popularised, bingo would fade in to the background, with only the
loyalists continuing to play. By the 1960s bingo had become a game well known for its mature
audience, which sadly hampered its progress in the decades to come.
In the 1990s the world as we know it would change, the Internet would arrive and introduce the era of
the information age. The ushering in of this new era would not only change the way people behave,
but it would shake the foundations of the bingo industry. Taking bingo out of land based halls and
putting it online, during the 2000s online bingo would gain serious momentum thanks to free bing
offers. Millions would migrate to the new format, as its benefits became immediately clear to the
world.
The reason why it has become so popular is because it represented the evolution of the game. Those
who chose to play online were now no longer limited by a small selection of games, as all the world s
variants became within arms reach at new bingo sites. Not only that, it allowed players to buy tickets
from the comfort of their own home, something that was certainly once thought impossible. Keeping
faithful to the social roots of the game, players can still interact with other players as usual, but now it
can be done without running the risk of missing any numbers at the best bingo sites.

Humor And Its Relationship With Positive Life Outcomes
Humor has been said to play a large role in our everyday lives, including having an impact on ones
well being; mainly influencing their level of self esteem. Humor is often seen as a coping mechanism
for dealing with stressful events throughout a person s lifetime (Stieger, Formann, Burger, 2011). For
some time there has been the circulating idea that humor is directly related to positive life outcomes,
but has been supported with very limited empirical evidence (Vaughan, Zeigler Hill, Arnau, 2014).
This view is often encrypted in the minds of general society because of the constant use of jokes and
sayings that acknowledge the use of humor as a way to deal with life s current circumstances; using
humor as a means to cope (Leist Müller, 2013). The problem with this view is that it does not consider
that there are multiple styles of humor that can affect its relationship with positive life outcomes
(Vaughan et al., 2014). Contemporary research suggests that sense of humor is a multidimensional
personality construct consisting of both [two] adaptive and [two] maladaptive styles (Kirsh, 2005).
Based on this prior research there are four distinct styles of humor which are defined as being a person
s habitual conduct or use of humor in daily life, that is his or her typical stable pattern of humor
behaviours and attitudes (Beermann, 2014). The two adaptive styles are: (1) self enhancing humor,
which is the use of personal humor to make oneself laugh and uplift your

My Singing Journey
A friend from my childhood once told me dream on, and sing louder . This friend pushed this saying
deep into my heart until it made it seem as if it kept my heart beating. I never really began to
understand what she meant when she repeated this saying to me until she explained it. She said to me
that to dream on is to not give up, and to sing louder is to not let anyone take my voice away from me.
Singing has always been a huge part in my life from singing in talent shows to singing in the shower.
My mother said that I never stopped singing. The journey of my singing began with my first School of
Rock program and is now being pursued on my churches worship team today. Before I start to tell you
about my singing journey, I feel as if I should explain why I started to sing in the first place. It all
began when I was four years old, my older sister Kassidy would always, and I mean always, be
listening to music in her room and singing. As we grew up she learned how to play the guitar and how
to write songs. She inspired me to sing and I couldn t thank her enough for it. When my sister was 12
years old she started to get involved in this program named School of Rock. When she would sing on
that stage I constantly wished that I was her. I could not wait until I was in the 7th grade so that I
could be a part of it as well.
The day eventually came and I was terrified. School of Rock is a program in which you get placed
into bands by instructors, then you perform on stage a week

Effects Of Social Media Addiction
Forest park students slowly wonder through the halls trying to make it to their next class. They are
oblivious to their surroundings because of their eyes glued to their social media apps on their phones.
It almost looks like they are zombies feeding their social media brains with their phones.
Every day students show the addiction to social media. Social media addiction is when people cannot
go a long time without going on social media. An example of social media addiction would be a kid
constantly checking their snapchat every few minutes for long periods of time. Social media
addictions is a very important and serious topic, which also comes with its effects on people. Some
include, health risks to the brain, social issues, and behavioral issues.
You may be surprised to know that according to a 2012 study posted on the national institutes website,
Internet Addiction disorder (IAD) ruins lives by causing neurological complications, physiological
disturbances, and social problems. This statistic shows that there are truly some bad health issues that
can come from feeding this to your brain. Just by going on your phone to look at social media can
cause very bad health problems, which seems like a small thing to do but that sat shows it really does
have a big effect.
To find out more about this, a reporter interviewed Kris Iwinski who is a 8th grade students mom and
has had lots of experience with her son being on social media. The first question she was asked was Is

Legislation On Antibiotics
A letter to legislation on the use of antibiotics
Overtime, antibiotics have been favorable as well as negligent to society. Antibiotic usage is helpful to
society because it kills and fights off bacteria in both humans and animals. With an increase in
antibiotic usage, these bacteria have become resistant to certain drugs which reduce the chance of the
bacteria being killed off and result in bacteria multiplying, causing increased harm to the infected.
According to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC, 2013), each year in the United States
at least 2 million people become infected with bacteria that are resistant to antibiotics and at least
23,000 people die each year as a result to these infections. Although multiple bacteria are antibiotic
resistant, and those numbers will continue to rise, antibiotics should remain a staple in the treatment of
diseases, as opposed to abandoning their use which will cause an increase in the prevalence of
bacterial infections. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Cultural Differences Of Athens And Sparta
Unlike many other ancient civilizations of the Near East, Greek history has a start like no other. The
Greek civilization was based upon city states, two in particular; Athens and Sparta. These two
dominants in Greek history differ from any other near east society because of their historical
background, geographical region and the cultural differences they display. The Athenian city state was
an open democratic maritime state, dominating Attica and supporting commercial and cultural
expansion. The Spartan city state had a tightly organized, militaristic, land based state, dominating the
peloponnesian peninsula. The Near east was a simple time to be alive, they had a small population and
little revolutionary advancements recorded. Early Civilization brought strangers together and
separated classes of people living side by side into distinct semi autonomous groupings (Sherman,
McNeill 17) unlike the civilization of the greek society. Athens was dominant toward the end of the
5th century. It was located in Attica. This location was a major difference from the societies of the
near east because they had no major rivers to get fresh water from and had no mountain ranges for
protection. This was a defence that many near east civilizations were built upon. Due to the lack of
natural defence the city state built long walls to help protect ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Short Story Of All The Sayings About America
When we think of America, we think of the land of opportunities, freedom, and equality. However,
there s another side to all the sayings about America; some good, some bad. My story starts on the first
day of kindergarten at Our lady of Fatima back in 2007. I felt nervous, and scared; it was the first time
I ve been near people who were different from me. Their appearance, the way they talked, and the
clothes they wore all seemed weird to me. Especially the way they talked, I couldn t understand some
of the words they were saying. Were they saying someone s one name? The reason why this felt weird
to me was, because of my previous school in India, where I stayed for two years to learn about my
culture and education. All the people I ve seen

Comparing the Beloved in Shakespeare s Sonnet 20 and...
Comparing the Beloved in Shakespeare s Sonnet 20 and Sonnet 130
In the hands of a master such as Shakespeare, the conventions of the sonnet form are manipulated and
transformed into something unique and originally emphasized. Both sonnets in one way or another
subvert the conventions of the base Petrarchan sonnet; though they are about love, the traditional topic
of sonnets, whilst in Sonnet 20 the object of desire is unattainable and there is no evidence of the level
of affection being requited, the target is male, and the target of the poet s affections in Sonnet 130 is
the poetic voice s current mistress. It also seems important to note that love in neither of these cases is
of the generic youthful female Aryan stereotype, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The poetic voice s mistress is of nature; no supernal gifts are hers. It is even strongly indicated that she
is beneath the highest forms of beauty nature has to offer (her eyes are nothing like the sun , coral is
far more red than her lips, no roses see I in her cheeks .) But this is to stray beyond the confines of the
original subject, the rest of the verse argues, because the love the voice has for its lover is as rare as
any other; beauty does not have to draw such clichéd parallels with nature to be thought of in the mind
of a lover as surpassing everything around it. In reference to this repeated theme, in the introduction to
the Penguin Classics printing of the Sonnets (though in reference specifically to sonnet 84), editor
John Kerrigan concludes:
Which hyperbolic poet , Shakespeare asks, which most sayer, can exceed this sublime truism, that you
alone are you . For you comprise the only things which, in honesty, you can be compared with .
This sonnet serves to invoke a strong sense of realism in love, arguing that as strong an intensity of
emotion as may be held, may be held, without the need for delusions of grandeur, taking the view that
trying to reconcile two essentially different and diverse things as equal is to do true justice to neither.
The beloved in this case thus represents more the need for a character developed to challenge
stereotype than an actual real life woman,

Arguments Against Exclusionary Rule
According to Merriam Webster Dictionary, the exclusionary rule is a legal rule that bars unlawfully
obtained evidence from being used in court proceedings [1].The exclusionary rule prevents the
government from using evidence that was obtained in an illegal or unconstitutional manner. This
includes evidence gathered from an unreasonable search or seizure. Any evidence which falls under
the exclusionary rule; that leads to the ´finding of further evidence will also be excluded. The initial
evidence, and subsequent evidence will not be used in the trial. The exclusionary rule is a remedy, not
an individual constitutional right. It will deter police from conducting searches in violation of the
Fourth Amendment [2]. The exclusionary rule also protects defendants from self incrimination. This
rule protects against recordings of a confession, if it was gathered in violation of the federal
wiretapping statute. The exclusionary rule also protects the defendant when evidence is gathered in
violation of their Sixth Amendment right to counsel [3].
In using the exclusionary rule, law enforcement would have to commit an illegal action. They must

Final Exam Essay
Writing is one of the most difficult subjects I have taken on this spring semester. Being able to identify
the different types of essays as well as putting my skills together to write them is the most difficult to
me. Although I have learned from the negative and positive feedback, I still feel there is a huge area
that needs improvement. Starting this out I didn t quite know what to expect or what level my writing
skills were at. I will most definitely be able to use what I ve learned for my future education as well as
my future career. Intellectually I know I had a smart, compassionate instructor that just wanted to
absolute best for me in this aspect.
The beginning of my struggles with writing was back in seventh grade, I remember staying after
school 3 out of 5 days a week for tutorials. I struggled with it all the way until my junior year in high
school whenever I came across my English teacher who was once a college professor. It was a daily

choice, but rather a struggle to escape the horrors in their own country. There are numerous nations
that welcome immigrants and refugees with open arms, but many do not. Picking up your life and

While these regulations were eventually lessened by the following Prime Minister, the events led to an
increase in French nationalism among the natives and new assimilation policies. In 2003, the French
government made an attempt to integrate the immigrants by requiring them to sign a contract when
entering the country. By signing the contract, immigrants agree to undergo language training and
instruction on the values of French society, (Zappi). If they passed, they received a ten year permit, but
if they failed then they only got a one year permit. Essentially, the French were trying to protect their
home culture by forcing the immigrants to let go of their native cultures and become more French.
When immigrating to a new country, there are many stages of acculturation that a person must go
through. At first everything is wonderful and amazing, but soon, homesickness and longing for the
home culture sets in. The attitudes and mindsets of the host culture can play a huge role in whether
person acculturates successfully or slips into culture shock. If you are able to make friends in your
host culture who can help you assimilate, then you are more likely to be happy in your new home.
However, in France, many people are unfriendly to foreigners and very unwilling to help them. For

A Very Racist Remark that Struck a Chord
Although, The United States outlawed slavery 149 years ago and The Civil Rights Act of 1964 was
signed into law 50 years ago. There is still a perception that African American individuals are still

want her to bring black people to his games, including Magic Johnson.
The incident began when his girlfriend, V. Stiviano, posted an unassuming picture of she and Magic

individuals about V. posting a picture with Magic Johnson and Sterling became upset that V. posted
the picture on social media for the public to see. According to TMZ on the tape he is heard saying,
It bothers me a lot that you want to broadcast that you re associating with black people. Do you have

  • 2. Bandit in the House Kwan bumped into Tim at the top of the staircase. Kwan looked pale, while his breathe was rapid. Kwan kept scanning over his shoulder. Tim spoke, Did you find them? Let s go, Kwan declared as he begun taking the stairs. Boys, can I a moment with you, a determined Giselle spoke. Giselle s profile came visible from the shadows of the hallway. Tim noticed Giselle s eyeliner was smudged. Giselle never looked out of place. Did she cry? Where was Daniel? Had Daniel upset Giselle? It s kind of boring here, so Tim and I are heading out, Kwan said. Tim was startled with Kwan s assertiveness as he looked to Kwan. Without warning, the three of them heard a quarrel below them. They recognized Ms Loren and Coach Russell s voices overlapping. The three begun downward and at the midway landing, they saw Cara and Bryan with the other students behind their chaperones. It was an heated exchange. Giselle observed two rifle carrying men blocking the group s exit from the Grand Foyer. There was Ms. Loren, in her matronly manner readjusting her glasses, while Coach Russell trying to resolve the situation. They continued. Giselle reached the last step, she asked, What s the problem? Ms Loren said, These gentlemen here are asking us to pay an admission fee before we can leave the Palace. I think they are bandits. Someone tell me how much do they want? Bryan declared. Cara just shook her head, then she realized her diamond necklace gave off a sparkle. Worrisome, Cara ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One of his biggest mistakes was killing his best friend because of jealousy towards his kid. Which the prophecy said that he would be king. This kill brings madness towards him which makes him weaker in power. Porfirio Diaz had also some mistakes while being in power. He was really intelligent enough buy having an alliance with the rich people. He used his power and money to maintain the people with more power happy. But he forgot about the biggest percentage of the population in Mexico. He stayed in power through deft manipulation of the powerful elements of Mexican society, giving each just enough of the pie to keep them happy. Only the poor were excluded entirely. • 4. Child And Teen Beauty Pageants It is not easy to be in the public s eye and constantly being watched can take a toll on a person. Hundreds of child stars have grown up to be consumed with depression, eating disorders, drug and alcohol addiction, and severe self esteem issues. So why would children that perform in child and teen beauty pageants be any different? They are constantly being judged by their looks, their actions, their poise and posture, their attitude and behaviors, the list goes on and on. That could severely affect the way these children see themselves as they get older. When a child is constantly being watched and criticized in every aspect, they develop a complex and a need to be perfect, when in fact perfection does not exist. This is when their depression or drug addictions might seep in, when they realize they can never live up to the standards that others have set on them. This is a very dangerous place to be, and no child or teenager should have to suffer through such a time as this. Childhood should be full of playing outside with friends, going to the pool or amusement park, visiting the beach or the mountains with family. It shouldn t consist of maintaining perfection with all the fakeness day in and day out, or there could be some very real consequences that might follow. Although there are massive amounts of negatives that go along with child beauty pageants, there are also some positive aspects to them. Some women have gained a great deal of success from entering into beauty ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Ultimately the goal of TQM is to make quality the way of doing things within the organization. 4. EFFECTIVENESS CRITERIA: In all Total Quality Management programs the ultimate effectiveness criterion is customer satisfaction. According to the research, to reach this ultimate goal of effectiveness requires that the organization measure several other criteria on a continual basis (Weaver, 1991; Hackman Wageman, 1995; Dahlgaard, 1999; Clark, 2000). The appropriate criteria to measure depends on the type of organization, and whether they deliver a product or a service. As populations started to lose hair and their sun exposure increased, the African sun threatened people s stores of folate, as sunlight destroys folate (which is needed for cell DNA replication, especially important for a growing baby). Eventually, this created a preference for darker skin in Africa, and became an important gene in the African gene pool. • 9. Little Brother Succeeds By Cory Doctorow In all mediums of storytelling, storylines never follow a singular plots. Writers often attempt to shovel in various subplots as a means of trying to captivate audiences who are not as interested by the main story. These subplots often revolve around the main story in the sense that they coexist but do not affect it. This entirely ruins the purpose of including subplots, as they should intertwine with and almost become a part of the main plotline. This is where Cory Doctorow s novel Little Brother succeeds. Throughout the novel, Doctorow focuses mainly on the story of Marcus Yallow, a high schooler living in San Francisco with gifted abilities in hacking, and his friends as he fights the manipulative government branch: The Department of ... At one point, near the middle of the novel, Marcus and Ange go out on date to one of Ange s favorite restaurants. The two decide to go to a burrito place. While there, Ange pulls out a stainless steel canister and excessively sprays her burrito with it s contents. Marcus asks her what she sprays her burrito with, to which she informs him that This is like pepper spray but slightly more dilute. And way more delicious. Think of it as Spicy Cajun Visine if it helps (68). There is no other passage in the novel that can exhibit Marcus and Ange s almost comedic chemistry together so perfectly. Ange is, by heart, more of an eccentric. She enjoys going out of her way so that she may eat spicy foods. She has an excessively liberal sense of mind and lives life how she sees fit. On the other hand, Marcus has a much more conservative mentalities despite literally fighting against the government. He openly voices his disgust to his date in a way that lets Ange know he feels appalled, but still still likes her by asking What the hell are you doing to that poor, defenseless burrito? (68). The two are an unlikely pair that is both entertaining and relatable to readers. The sincerity of their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Australian And Indonesian Relations Essay Introduction Australian Indonesian relations are the foreign relations between the two countries, whether economically, politically, legally or socially. Australian Indonesian relations involve an interaction in foreign policies between the two nations (Wolfsohn, 1951, p. 68). As long as Indonesia is Australia s closest and largest neighbor, they are bound to have great international relations. These relations began as early as the 17th century and had only become enhanced with time (Daly, 2003, p. 397). The relationship has been defined by a conjoint growth trade of up to $14 between the years 2011 2012 which reports an increase from the previous economic year (Mark, 2012, p.402). These countries are members of various trade deals such as the ASEAN Regional Forum in addition to having close ties with education, defense, and leadership. Australia s relationship with Indonesia is crucial, and lack of such could severely bruise the economy, and hence they need to keep united by ensuring the use of widespread media with beneficial input. Australia interacts with Indonesia in a way such as sporting activity, tourism, education, economic policies, youth exchange programs, cultures and above all their diplomacy (Okamoto, 2010, p.241). In ancient Egypt, women used softened papyrus tampons, while the Greeks utilized lint wrapped around small pieces of wood, and the Romans wore pads and tampons made of soft wool. Considered impure in the Jewish culture during biblical times, the proclivity of physically separating women from men during menstruation is habitual, as well as any object they touched or sat on. These fads were perpetuated in Europe in the 1800s. With a more natural approach, women during this period allowed their menstruation to bleed into their clothing. • 23. Modernism And The Cultural Logic Of Late Capitalism In general, many of the most urgent theories of modernity, and by extension, the aesthetic revolution of modernism, focus on the development of capitalism and its relation to cultural form. This strain of economic criticism is especially valuable in grasping both the pains and promises of modernity. Additionally, this strain is an attractive approach because it provides a grounded historical method of periodization each stage of capitalism has a dominant mode of artistic production. Fredric Jameson, in his highly influential Postmodernism, or the Cultural Logic of Late Capitalism (1991), uses three stages of capitalism competitive, monopoly, and multinational to create his own corresponding schema of cultural periodization realism, modernism, and postmodernism. However, in The Existence of Italy (1992), Jameson relaxes these categories somewhat by positing the existence of shorter cycles that follow the same trajectory of realism → modernism → postmodernism but occur outside the standard periodization, which is directly linked to specific capitalist phases. Here, cycles is the best description of this phenomenon because it reinforces their relationship to capitalism; Jameson bases his logic of larger periodization on long cycles of economic development. However, this logic s timeline is closely correlated to the core countries of capitalism, which has enabled their cultural form to become the standard. Thus, I contend that the conjecture of shorter cycles can be utilized ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 27. Humor And Its Relationship With Positive Life Outcomes Humor has been said to play a large role in our everyday lives, including having an impact on ones well being; mainly influencing their level of self esteem. Humor is often seen as a coping mechanism for dealing with stressful events throughout a person s lifetime (Stieger, Formann, Burger, 2011). For some time there has been the circulating idea that humor is directly related to positive life outcomes, but has been supported with very limited empirical evidence (Vaughan, Zeigler Hill, Arnau, 2014). This view is often encrypted in the minds of general society because of the constant use of jokes and sayings that acknowledge the use of humor as a way to deal with life s current circumstances; using humor as a means to cope (Leist Müller, 2013). The problem with this view is that it does not consider that there are multiple styles of humor that can affect its relationship with positive life outcomes (Vaughan et al., 2014). Contemporary research suggests that sense of humor is a multidimensional personality construct consisting of both [two] adaptive and [two] maladaptive styles (Kirsh, 2005). Based on this prior research there are four distinct styles of humor which are defined as being a person s habitual conduct or use of humor in daily life, that is his or her typical stable pattern of humor behaviours and attitudes (Beermann, 2014). Comparing the Beloved in Shakespeare s Sonnet 20 and Sonnet 130 In the hands of a master such as Shakespeare, the conventions of the sonnet form are manipulated and transformed into something unique and originally emphasized. Both sonnets in one way or another subvert the conventions of the base Petrarchan sonnet; though they are about love, the traditional topic of sonnets, whilst in Sonnet 20 the object of desire is unattainable and there is no evidence of the level of affection being requited, the target is male, and the target of the poet s affections in Sonnet 130 is the poetic voice s current mistress. The poetic voice s mistress is of nature; no supernal gifts are hers. It is even strongly indicated that she is beneath the highest forms of beauty nature has to offer (her eyes are nothing like the sun , coral is far more red than her lips, no roses see I in her cheeks .) But this is to stray beyond the confines of the original subject, the rest of the verse argues, because the love the voice has for its lover is as rare as any other; beauty does not have to draw such clichéd parallels with nature to be thought of in the mind of a lover as surpassing everything around it. In reference to this repeated theme, in the introduction to the Penguin Classics printing of the Sonnets (though in reference specifically to sonnet 84), editor John Kerrigan concludes: Which hyperbolic poet , Shakespeare asks, which most sayer, can exceed this sublime truism, that you alone are you . For you comprise the only things which, in honesty, you can be compared with . This sonnet serves to invoke a strong sense of realism in love, arguing that as strong an intensity of emotion as may be held, may be held, without the need for delusions of grandeur, taking the view that trying to reconcile two essentially different and diverse things as equal is to do true justice to neither.
